2. This music video became of interest after we’d made a rough decision
about the storyline of our own.
This video uses the character of a young boy
who goes acts as though he’s living the life of
a grown man. This is similar to our groups
idea, only with ours we want the young child
to be acting older in order to impress a girl.
However, it’s really good to be able to see
how one person has interpreted this idea, and
take inspiration from their successful
elements.
3. Again there are elements here very similar to what we’re planning to do. The medium shot from behind the little boy
of him cleaning his teeth is effective and the pyjamas make him cute and likable to the audience, and I feel we should
do something similar, perhaps turning it into more of an over the shoulder shot looking at the reflection in the mirror.
Something to take from this video is the way they’ve incorporated comedy but using simple element like wiping his
face quite aggressively on the towel. This reminds viewers that he is a child, and the juxtaposition between the adult
elements and childlike behaviour create humour.
4. Again the mise-en-scene is very
similar to our own ideas, this time in
terms of costume. We’ve envisaged
a young boy stood in front of a
mirror dressing himself in a blazer or
jacket that’s too big for him, with a
white shirt and tie in order to
impress the girl and show he can be
‘older’. The purpose of our music
video is to engage the target
audience and sell the single, and
using these slightly humorous
elements that provoke an emotional
response towards the child would
help to achieve this.
5. The scenes with the young boy are integrated
into the video, each time portraying a new
aspect of adult life but combining it with the
child’s wisdom. The disproportion between
himself and the briefcase and his attempts at
reaching to throw the rubbish bag in the bin
both make you smile. Something else to take
inspiration from is the editing used in the
rubbish bag scene, as it cuts between still
shots of the boy attempting to throw the bag
and jump high enough to reach. The cutting
rate gets a little quicker throughout the scene
as well as each shot being shorter, which is
quite effective.
