How did you attract/
address your audience?
Audience Research
 I carried out research into my target audience whilst I was planning my product. I
knew I wanted to address 14-21 year olds so I tried to find out what genres of film
they liked.
 After carrying out questionnaires I learned that popular genres were thriller and
horror. I decided to incorporate both of those genres and put a bit of a twist on
things so producing a psychological thriller film seemed like a good idea.
 The majority of people I asked said they liked these types of genres because they
like being thrilled, shocked and scared.
More Research
 Watching film openings of thriller, horror and psychological thriller films helped
me gain an idea of the sort of themes the target audience like. Such as death/
murder, conflict and mystery.
 This research helped my product to attract the target audience because it made
me consider appealing features and ideas whilst producing my own product.
How I attracted my target audience
 I attracted my target audience’s attention by showing my film to both of the year
12 AS media groups at sixth form which caught their attention and made some f
them watch it again or show their friends.
 I also posted a link to the video on Facebook and Twitter as most of the people I
interact with on those sites are in my target audience age range.
 Discussing the product with my friends and peers also raised acknowledgement of
the film which is very beneficial.
How I addressed my audience
 I made sure to use an actress of a similar age to my target audience so that they
felt they could relate to her more than if a very old or very young actress was
used.
 I also made sure to use age-appropriate language so that my audience weren’t
patronised but at the same time weren’t overwhelmed by vocabulary.
