In what ways does you media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products?I believe that in the opening of the film, tension is created thought the use of sound, editing and camera angles and movement, which are the main elements in making a film.
The filming has different cuts from different places, so there is a variation of places to see.
I have chosen to use a heightened and sombre music in the background of the edited piece, so the it catches the audiences attention and makes them feel tension and sympathy for Alex. This introduces the media product and gives clues to what the film is about, so the audience doesn't get bored and reckless. When researching other action films I saw that they didn't really show what the film was going to be like, introduce it; unlike our film, which you see that Alex wants revenge, because of his dad’s death, and the words ‘and so it begins,’ interreges you to want to watch what will happen, creating tension and suspense. My media product is aimed at 15 to around 20 year olds because of the research I did in my questionnaires. Also I would say that it aimed at particularly them because of the characters ages. The relationship between Molly and Alex, would also attract a younger social group, because they are familiar with it, or they aspire to be like them. Also in some ways the product is stereotypical because of the use of ‘chavs’ as the killer in a tracksuit and also the older/ middle ages people in suits. How does your media product represent particular social groups?
What kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?I believe that Universal would be a great media institution to distribute my media product, because with the research I did they seemed to distribute gangster and action films more. Also as an American institution, they could financially support the production and distributing and consumpting the film.
My target audience for my media product is 15 to 20 years olds. This was the chosen genre, because of the results given with the questionnaire, on what people would want a film to be like.I believe and my group that males would be attracted to this genre then to other film, with a romantic theme. However I also think that it would be good for females, because of the relationship, between Molly and Alex and the emotional clip (stereotypically).Who would be the audience for your media product?
I used action in order to relate to the questionnaire made and the answers given by my targeted age group.I used younger characters, because the audience could relate to them more and because as a group I believe that we could well better with. With the soundtrack, I believe that it attracted the audience, with tension and a sad and heightened pace.I tried to aim it at males and females, because then I could attract a wider audience, with both action and romance. With the father dying, it could attract mid ages people in addition. How did you attract/ address your audience?
What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this productI learned how to work editing programmes and how they are the main thing in producing a video.I leant that when making a film, that the team is a big thing in making the film, because of the co-operation and the work needed. At points there were difficulties with equalling the work out, though it all sorted its self out in time and co operation.
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you learnt in the progression from it to the full product? As a preliminary task, it did as we wanted, with letting us know the difficulties and the requirements in making a film. For example the cuts and the movements weren't as smooth to the final product, in a huge amount, though with the use of the tri pod it helped a lot and gave the effect needed.I leant how to create an edited piece with the difficult software given. As my role, I learnt how to make a story board and a script, and I see how important these two parts are in making the final product and pre-production pieces.
