5. Does your magazine use conventions from
other professional magazines that might help
attract an audience?
My music magazine front cover, double page spread and
contents each uses plenty of conventions from professional
magazines within the same genre. As my magazine, Passion
For Rock has the same target audience as the music
magazines I have compared for my contents NME, readers will
notice the similarities between the two and NME fans will be
encouraged to buy my magazine to try out a new, fresh
magazine . Certain conventions attract a certain audience so
by having similar conventions to magazines such as NME, I’m
guaranteed to have a similar audience to them which is ideal
due to us both having the same target audience.
6. Did you choose language techniques, layout design, fonts,
colours locations, props, costumes and models and in order to
communicate particular ideas to your audience?
The story I’m telling through my contents page is
that Rosie was an ordinary girl like any over
student at my college who fulfilled her dream by
working for it. Rosie’s posture, costume and facial
expression makes her seem very confident in her
own skin so if I was to commute any message
through my magazine it would be to work hard
and watch yourself succeed. With Rosie being
young, just like my target audience, my target
audience will be able to relate to her style, her
fashion and her posture which will tell them
they’re no different to Rosie and if she can
succeed so can they. My fonts and colour I feel
our very warm and welcoming so my audience
will see this and automatically get a happy vibe
from my magazine. They will then read my double
page spread story and feel motivated.
