For his creative media project, the student created a short comedy action film about exaggerated global problems and North Korean threats. If he were to redo the project, he would spend more time planning, scripting, storyboarding, choreographing fight scenes, and learning video editing software to improve filming, visual effects, sound, and fluency between scenes. He also aims to learn better camera techniques and use additional sound effects from different sources. Overall, more preparation and skills development would help the student make a more professional and enjoyable film.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

June 3, 2024 Anti-Semitism Letter Sent to MIT President Kornbluth and MIT Cor...Levi Shapiro
Letter from the Congress of the United States regarding Anti-Semitism sent June 3rd to MIT President Sally Kornbluth, MIT Corp Chair, Mark Gorenberg
Dear Dr. Kornbluth and Mr. Gorenberg,
The US House of Representatives is deeply concerned by ongoing and pervasive acts of antisemitic
harassment and intimidation at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). Failing to act decisively to ensure a safe learning environment for all students would be a grave dereliction of your responsibilities as President of MIT and Chair of the MIT Corporation.
This Congress will not stand idly by and allow an environment hostile to Jewish students to persist. The House believes that your institution is in violation of Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, and the inability or
unwillingness to rectify this violation through action requires accountability.
Postsecondary education is a unique opportunity for students to learn and have their ideas and beliefs challenged. However, universities receiving hundreds of millions of federal funds annually have denied
students that opportunity and have been hijacked to become venues for the promotion of terrorism, antisemitic harassment and intimidation, unlawful encampments, and in some cases, assaults and riots.
The House of Representatives will not countenance the use of federal funds to indoctrinate students into hateful, antisemitic, anti-American supporters of terrorism. Investigations into campus antisemitism by the Committee on Education and the Workforce and the Committee on Ways and Means have been expanded into a Congress-wide probe across all relevant jurisdictions to address this national crisis. The undersigned Committees will conduct oversight into the use of federal funds at MIT and its learning environment under authorities granted to each Committee.
• The Committee on Education and the Workforce has been investigating your institution since December 7, 2023. The Committee has broad jurisdiction over postsecondary education, including its compliance with Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, campus safety concerns over disruptions to the learning environment, and the awarding of federal student aid under the Higher Education Act.
• The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is investigating the sources of funding and other support flowing to groups espousing pro-Hamas propaganda and engaged in antisemitic harassment and intimidation of students. The Committee on Oversight and Accountability is the principal oversight committee of the US House of Representatives and has broad authority to investigate “any matter” at “any time” under House Rule X.
• The Committee on Ways and Means has been investigating several universities since November 15, 2023, when the Committee held a hearing entitled From Ivory Towers to Dark Corners: Investigating the Nexus Between Antisemitism, Tax-Exempt Universities, and Terror Financing. The Committee followed the hearing with letters to those institutions on January 10, 202

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Embracing GenAI - A Strategic ImperativePeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

1. Unit 21: Evaluation
For my unit 21 creative media project I created a short comedy action film, which was about the
problems around the world but a bit more exaggerated, I based it on the North Korean threats
against the western world and South Korea.
First step that I did was I completed a proposal sheet where I wrote down who
I thought my target audience was and what genre I was going to do for my unit
21, and what the content was about as well as little extra things such as if I had
a working title for my film so far.
I then created a production schedule which I
used to film so I knew which equipment I
needed and what actors and extras I needed
each time I filmed.
I then drew out the story board so that I knew
roughly which kind of things would be
happening in each shot and roughly how long
the shots would last and what kind of camera
angles I would use to get maximum effect for action with my action
scenes.
If I was to recreate this project I would take more time with the
preparation and I would write a much more detailed scripted so that I
could make the scenes more fluent with each other as when I was
filming I free lanced most of what was happening from the top of my
head which made the film not look as I could have been, as during the fight scene I had not
choreographed beforehand so we had to make it up on the day which meant that each little
segment didn’t match up together with each other as perfectly as I would have liked which meant
that the scene didn’t look as fluent as I could of if I had prepared more.
Also I should have stuck to the storyboard more as I added in extra bits during the edit which I made
up on the top of my head as I thought it might make it more fluent, which shows that is should have
spent more time of the story board than I had so that I didn’t have to add in lots of little scenes
during the edit and the last minute.
Also if I was to do this project again I would try and spend more time editing as the shooting effect
wasn’t as good as I would as I would have liked it as it was supposed to have smoke effect but as I
wasn’t as experienced with the software as I could have been it didn’t look as good as it could of, so I
would defiantly spend more time learning a bit more on how to use premier pro as I had to get some
help to do some things with the software, so think if I knew more about the software I could have
made the film look better than it does, so next time I will watch a few YouTube videos to learn some
tricks on how to use premier pro to make the film look more professional.
2. This is my completed film in premier pro, as you can see there are a lot of different clips used in my
film as I have used many different angles in my film especially in my fight scene, I think if I was to do
this again I would spend more time on the edit especially on the visual effects as I didn’t spend much
time trying to get the visual effects to work I think I should have kept the smoke as I only had the
flash in the fight scene which makes it look less realistic, which I think I could have improved and I
will do that next time and get more experience with the software.
If I was ever to attempt this again I would learn how to use the cameras better as some of the shots
that I filmed were not as good quality as they could have been if I knew more on how to work the
camera so next time I think I might watch a few instructional videos on YouTube to see more how on
how to work the cameras, as well as some tricks on how to film on the move as the camera wobbles
a little bit during the filming. Especially in the fight scene when moving over to the target as I didn’t
use a tripod or a steady cam which meant that it wobbled quite a bit.
I used the tripod with wheels when I did the walking down the hallway the problem with this is that
the wheels made to much noise whilst going along the floor which meant that I had to replace the
original sound with sound effects to make it sound like a normal noise, which I think made I sound I
little bit better than the original so that would also be one more thing I would do is add in more
sound effects, that way it could sound more professional and be more fluent and look much better
than it is. The website that I used to get sound effects was free SFX I think this was a great website as
you can get hold of a large variety of sound effects but sometimes I couldn’t
find the right sound effect that I wanted so next time I might also use sound
effects from YouTube as well as Free SFX to make it sound much better and
more professional and work a lot better.
Overall if I was to this project again the main points that I would brush up on would be my planning
as well as my skills with filming as well as editing to make my film look more professional and more
fluent and look better than it does now, that way people would enjoy it more and I would think that
it looks better than it does now.
3. I made my project by using different videos from YouTube as well as a mixture of videos from what I
filmed, I then put that together with music that I had in editing.
I learnt to use more transitions than I did in my last project; I
thought I needed more transitions as I had a lot. I used a
variety of transitions that I got from the effects list; I also
used a variety of other tools to edit my film the main tool
that I used was the clip tool as I had to break up parts of the
vids that I had, I got hold of the news reports and other
videos by using an mp4 downloader which I then put into
the sequence, I also used a new tool that I had never used
before called the rolling editing tool which I used to speed
up clips when they were shortened, I used this for the
shooting scene which I used to make it seem more realistic
when he got shot, I did this to try and keep the video in time
with the music to make it seem more professional.
