The document summarizes the student's work on several stages of a film production project. In stage 5, the student practiced using camera equipment and learned how to manipulate settings to achieve different lighting effects. They also learned how to record sound effects using new software. In pre-production, the student storyboarded ideas and created shot lists to plan filming. During production and editing, the student filmed the planned shots but some took longer than expected, and they had difficulties with sound editing and color correction. In their evaluation, the student gathered peer feedback, reflected on what went well and areas to improve, and compared their work to other films.
2.  This week I practiced using the equipment to
make a short film. This was a 60 second long
film that had to involve a key and a door. We
worked in groups of three to create these.
When creating the film I learnt how to use the
cameras to get close ups and medium shots.
I also learnt how to change the ISO, shutter
speed and the aperture of the camera to get
the right lighting effects in the shot. This will
all help me with any camera work that I do in
my final project. I was already pretty
competent using a camera, so doing this
helped me to improve what I already was able
to do.
 We also worked using Tascam, this was to
record the sound effects. This was more of a
challenge for me because I had never
recorded sound before. We also had to
create some sounds on our own I tried to use
garage band however I am not in anyway
capable of making music, so when I come to
improving I need get a basic knowledge of
how to write and create simple tracks.
 We then created our film by compiling it in
adobe Premier. I have had practice in this
before using it in previous projects. However
I learnt how to add more audio tracks to my
project which was very helpful as I could have
overlapping audio effects.
3.  This week I worked on my research and my idea generation, this started by
reflecting on the brief and give my opinions and say where my strengths may
lie. this helped because I can see where I need to improve during this
project.
 I then started mind mapping, I started by creating three broad ideas for my
project, doing this helped me to develop a better final Idea which was much
more developed, I then used this to create a mood board of things to take
influence from. Evaluating the mood board I found that I was particularly
drawn to directors work like Wes Anderson and Edgar Wright.
 The research started by me creating a questionnaire that I sent out to my
class, this helped me with my research as I decided to focus a certain style
of film. In my research I found people like more creative original work. I then
developed more of an understanding for understanding work from the
previously mentioned directors. This will help me in my final piece as I will
know how I can get certain themes in my work and certain effects.
4.  This week we worked on our pre production. First I
mapped out my ideas of what sort of film I wanted to
create. This helped me to get basic line up in my head
of what I wanted to see in my film. I then used this to
create a story board for my film with any shots I wanted
to use. This was helpful because it meant I was able to
log my ideas on paper.
 Using my storyboard I was able to create a shot list. My
film has got a planned 17 different shots. The shot list
also helps me to predict how long my video is going to
be and where I may need to shorten it down.
 After I have decided what the shots are going to be I
was able to plan who I was going to use as my actors
and what props I would need. This was helpful as it
meant I had a list of everything I was going to need and
how I planned to use it in each different shot.
5.  This week was primarily work on production and editing, at the the
beginning of the week I filmed my piece. This was successful as I got all
the shots I wanted, however some were longer than expected and I could
have planned better. This will help in my FMP as I know what I will need
to work on and I will set out my time in a more structured way planning for
mistakes. In the filming I used a range of shots the show a clear story,
this will also help in my FMP as I now know that looking at something
from a range of angles can be very successful and create a better final
project.
 I then started editing my work, this is when I noticed that certain shots
were far too long, this meant I head to crop them down, this hasn’t always
had the best out come. However it has helped me develop skills as I tried
to make the crops as good as I possibly could. I then did colour
correcting which was very successful as managed to make it look like the
film was shot at the same time rather than through the night, however this
could still be improved.
 Finally I added sound, this needs a massive improvement as it is very
lacking, this is due to my massive lack of skill. If I am to use sounds in my
FMP I will make sure that I watch multiple tutorials to help improve these
skills and create a better final piece.
6.  During this week I did my evaluation reflecting on what was good about my work
and what needed to be improved. I started by showing my peers my video and
getting an opinion off of them, this was helpful as it helped me get evaluations
that were non biased. I will do this in my FMP as it is helpful to see what
someone else thinks off your work, as they see things you may neglect. I then
evaluated these peer responses to see what I could do to improve my work. This
will be helpful for my FMP as I will be able to see what aspects of work I need to
work on a develop to create a better final piece.
 I then evaluated my work by myself, I evaluated things such as my research and
questionnaires and my final product. Looking at my research helped me to
understand what techniques helped me and see which research actually helped
to create my project. It also helped me to realise what parts of my questionnaire
were not very strong and how I could improve them.
 When evaluating the final project I found that comparing all the aspects, like;
audience appeal, aesthetics, audio and editing, to other pieces of film helped me
to see what I did well and what I could take from other films to make my work
better and more engaging.
