8. Ancillary texts enhances the products as it gives more information about the artist/band,
while the main text is blunt and straight to the point as to what the product is.
WHAT DO YOUR ANCILLARY TEXTS
ADD TO YOUR MAIN TEXT?
11. HOW COULD YOU HAVE DEVELOPED YOUR
PRODUCTS TO INCREASE THEIR SYNERGY?
12.
13. Personally I feel that the outcome of our print products were better than the music video purely
because they looked more professional and believable as a digipak and magazine advert and
had more time to fully understand and develop the idea of ‘lucky Strike’ such as coming up with
the clover. As A2 students we did not have the technical equipment and skills available to
professional directors, such as the cameras, setting, lights and editing programmes; we only
have the skills from our last years thriller openings and preliminary tasks.
However I am proud of my final products because they did seem believable and professional to
a A2 student standard which was pleasing. At first I was worried about how we would achieve
our ideas but by practice and developing our skills through camera shots and angles editing etc
thus we were able to improve.
W ith our music video there could have included more links to the clover idea, Also, on the
digipak and magazine we could have had a bowling pin or bowl to further amply the synergy and
the ‘Lucky Strike 'form the music video.
By research and planning helped me to fully assess which idea was best for our products and
how we wanted them to look and for the audience to understand the initial idea of what we were
trying to achieve. For example looking at the ‘Jessie J’ magazine advert and ‘Maroon 5’ albums
(as discussed before)
In addition I think I should have done more shots of the artist and girl to emphases the love
instead of having the artist Michael dancing and singing in front of a green screen.
HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE
FINAL PRODUCTS?
14. From our audience f eedback our target audience (teenage girls) said that
they lik e the design of the print products as it does give the idea of love
and luck as well as the darker side of love. This helped them to realise
that love is not always ‘happy and saf e’ but heart breaking and hard.
The target audience also thought that the f ont and colour use in the
digipak and magazine advert work ed well as it look ed professional and
believable as a real magazine and digipak.
They also said that the designs look ed professional and lik e real digipak ,
poster and music video. They also seemed surprised by the quality given
that we are only A2 students.
The target audience also lik e the camera shots that we used f or example
the snooker shot, as it made them f eel that the ball was coming at them as
they were the ‘luck y Strike’.
They also lik e the f act hat the artist was wink ing, k iss the camera and
dancing as it seemed lik e he was doing that to them thus they f elt
captured by him.
They also understood the concept that the boy and girl are on a date and
she is his luck y strike.
