HOW MY SEQUENCE LOOKS LIKE OTHER FILMS
WITHIN THE THRILLER GENRE• Hurt Locker sniper scene

-I would say that our film replicates some aspects of this scene. For example the sniper carefully and
slowly getting ready to kill its victim. Although in our film the sniper does not kill the victim, it gets him
running away and this scene is similar to the chase scene in my film.

• -This is the opening film to Skyfall which is linking in with our thriller genre. Although the setting is
not quite the same as ours (being based on a farm whereas this is a in a desert), there are
similarities between our film and this one. For example, our thriller is an opening scene which is
actioned pacted, like this youtbe clip. In both the clips there is some shooting going on and also
hiding from the bullets that the opposition is firing at you (for example when the male character
hides behind the car in our film).
KEEPING TO THE CONVENTIONS OF THE FORM
• -The films that I have previously listed are successful, professional films. The reason we
tried to keep to the same forms is because we wanted our film to be successful and the
audiences who go to see thrillers want action pact scenes, with bullets being fired and
chase scenes with expensive cars.
• -Although sometimes it is better to challenge the typical thriller genre stereotype, we
believed that in order to get a higher number of people watching the film, we would go
with a plot that has generically been the most successful and stick to it.
CHALLENGES TO THE CONVENTIONS OF THE
FORM
• -We specifically chose a female to play the role of sniper. Usually in thriller films and
generally where guns are involved, it is the men who are used majority in these roles. We
reversed the stereotype by doing this and hopefully it has attracted more females to watch
the film and therefore has stretched our target audience.
• -By a female playing the part of a sniper it gives females that idea if men can do
something, so can women!

  • 1. IN WHAT WAYS DOES YOUR MEDIA PRODUCT USE, DEVELOP OR CHALLENGE FORMS AND CONVENTIONS OF REAL MEDIA PRODUCTS?
  • 2. HOW MY SEQUENCE LOOKS LIKE OTHER FILMS WITHIN THE THRILLER GENRE• Hurt Locker sniper scene https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aLyydt61BrU -I would say that our film replicates some aspects of this scene. For example the sniper carefully and slowly getting ready to kill its victim. Although in our film the sniper does not kill the victim, it gets him running away and this scene is similar to the chase scene in my film. • Skyfall opening scene • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2DUFYqc27w • -This is the opening film to Skyfall which is linking in with our thriller genre. Although the setting is not quite the same as ours (being based on a farm whereas this is a in a desert), there are similarities between our film and this one. For example, our thriller is an opening scene which is actioned pacted, like this youtbe clip. In both the clips there is some shooting going on and also hiding from the bullets that the opposition is firing at you (for example when the male character hides behind the car in our film).
  • 3. KEEPING TO THE CONVENTIONS OF THE FORM • -The films that I have previously listed are successful, professional films. The reason we tried to keep to the same forms is because we wanted our film to be successful and the audiences who go to see thrillers want action pact scenes, with bullets being fired and chase scenes with expensive cars. • -Although sometimes it is better to challenge the typical thriller genre stereotype, we believed that in order to get a higher number of people watching the film, we would go with a plot that has generically been the most successful and stick to it.
  • 4. CHALLENGES TO THE CONVENTIONS OF THE FORM • -We specifically chose a female to play the role of sniper. Usually in thriller films and generally where guns are involved, it is the men who are used majority in these roles. We reversed the stereotype by doing this and hopefully it has attracted more females to watch the film and therefore has stretched our target audience. • -By a female playing the part of a sniper it gives females that idea if men can do something, so can women!
