My Summary of what I have
learned from the feedback

The Feedback
• From reading my comments there are both negative and positive
ones. It is clear from reading the feedback given to me that the
music was highly popular and successful in creating the correct
atmosphere and tension found in a horror film trailer. Also, from
the feedback, I think that the narrative was popular as we outlined
the basic storyline, yet didn’t give too much away. As well, the
montage shots towards the end created tension. The titles we
created also proved popular when looking back at the feedback.

• I think the main criticisms were to do with the lighting of some of
the shots. For example one person said ‘some shots would have
looked a little better darker’, so I think if I were to re-do the trailer,
some of the daytime shots would be at night instead. Also, some
people though some of the night-time shots were too dark, so I
would also work out the correct lighting if I had the chance to do it
  again.
Production Values
• Production values-
• There were certain production values that are normally included in horror films
• There should be a range of camera shots e.g. high and low angles
• The use of night time shots are often used in horror trailers and low key lighting
• A gradual increase in the speed of shots- starts of slow to get an idea for the storyline but
then goes into a faster paced montage of shots
• The colours red, white and black which is often associated with horror
• Introduce the characters stereotypical roles- e.g. victim, final girl
I believe our horror trailer stuck to most of the production values. We tried to use a range of
shots such as high and low angle, tracking, close-up and over-the-shoulder. However, I
could have used the even more, maybe using more higher angle shots to represent the
characters as vulnerable. We used night time shots; however, I think if I were to do it again
I would film more shots during the night. We also started off with a slow pace and
gradually increased the speed to increase tension. We used the three colours often
associated with horror- red, white and black in our titles. I also believe we managed to
introduce the characters roles well, so Amy was the victim and Emily was the final girl, as
well as the masked character being the villain.
Improvements

• I think there are some things that could have
been improved if we had more time.
• I think we would have had more fast shots and
  shorter speaking shots
• filmed more night time shots
• maybe have had more characters to create more
  of a narrative
• used more professional props and settings
