Our idea is to create a short psychological thriller film about a person suffering from paranoia. We will use film techniques like fast cuts to convey this without explicitly telling the audience about the character's condition, leaving it open to various interpretations. Thrillers create suspense and tension by placing characters in dangerous mysteries from which escape seems impossible, often involving unsuspecting people. We plan to use conventions like an ambiguous ending, rapid editing, shadows, and over-the-shoulder shots to build tension without resolution or explanation.

However, the film also aims to attract females by featuring a female sniper, reversing the stereotype. The film also targets young adult males who have recently finished university. Feedback from 16-18 year olds confirmed they enjoyed the opening scene. The film will attract its target teenage male audience through the inclusion of cars, guns, and violence, which research shows this age group enjoys. The film would receive a 15 certificate from the British Board of Film Classification due to the level of violence.

For the main task, they created a WhatsApp group to better plan filming dates, locations, costumes, and props. The group learned from their preliminary experience and put more thought into planning, filming, editing, adding sound/music, and choosing appropriate props and costumes for the main task.

For the preliminary task, there was little planning but for the main task, the group created a WhatsApp group to discuss filming dates, locations, costumes and props. Additionally, the group improved filming quality by using a tripod and better camera, and conducting actor auditions to cast the best actors for each role. Overall, the planning and production quality was much higher for the main task compared to the preliminary task.
Technologies Used
Sam Wadsted used a variety of technologies for his coursework including Blogger, YouTube, SoundCloud, SlideShare, Pixton, Scribd, Prezi, and Vimeo to create blog posts, upload videos, and aid in presentations. He found Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, iMovie, and Final Cut Pro useful for writing scripts, creating slideshows, and editing preliminary and final projects. Other apps like Snapchat, WhatsApp, the iPhone camera and various online stores helped with planning, communication, and purchasing props. Hardware like iMacs, an iPhone, professional camera, and microphone were also utilized.

To address their audience, they would listen to opinions from surveys and feedback to understand what the audience likes and needs. Based on previous feedback that most thriller watchers were male, they decided to have a female antagonist to attract more female viewers by breaking conventions.

Our primary audience for the media product is teenage boys aged 15-19, as research shows they prefer action and thriller films more than girls. However, a female sniper character is included to also attract female viewers by reversing stereotypes. Young adult males recently finished with university are also a target audience. Feedback from 16-18 year old test viewers confirmed they enjoyed the opening thriller scene. Boys aged 13-19 particularly enjoy cars and guns, both of which are incorporated into the story through a Mustang car and a high-quality sniper gun. The violence level in the thriller places it at a BBFC 15 rating, allowing for some strong violence but not dwelling on graphic details, similar to the film American Sniper.

An independent film company would be best suited to distribute the media product due to its lower budget nature. Independent film companies focus on direct digital distribution through platforms like iTunes, DVD, Netflix, and Blu-ray rather than wide theatrical releases. They are a good fit as they specialize in exactly the type of small, low-budget films that wouldn't have mass appeal or make back costs through traditional cinema distribution. An example independent film company mentioned is [company name redacted] which distributes similar small films through online platforms instead of cinema screenings.

Psychological safety in teams is important; team members must feel safe and able to communicate and collaborate effectively to deliver value. It’s also necessary to build long-lasting teams since things will happen and relationships will be strained.
But, how safe is a team? How can we determine if there are any factors that make the team unsafe or have an impact on the team’s culture?
In this mini-workshop, we’ll play games for psychological safety and team culture utilizing a deck of coaching cards, The Psychological Safety Cards. We will learn how to use gamification to gain a better understanding of what’s going on in teams. Individuals share what they have learned from working in teams, what has impacted the team’s safety and culture, and what has led to positive change.
Different game formats will be played in groups in parallel. Examples are an ice-breaker to get people talking about psychological safety, a constellation where people take positions about aspects of psychological safety in their team or organization, and collaborative card games where people work together to create an environment that fosters psychological safety.

Let’s talk about powerful conversations! We all know how to lead a constructive conversation, right? Then why is it so difficult to have those conversations with people at work, especially those in powerful positions that show resistance to change?
Learning to control and direct conversations takes understanding and practice.
We can combine our innate empathy with our analytical skills to gain a deeper understanding of complex situations at work. Join this session to learn how to prepare for difficult conversations and how to improve our agile conversations in order to be more influential without power. We will use Dave Gray’s Empathy Mapping, Argyris’ Ladder of Inference and The Four Rs from Agile Conversations (Squirrel and Fredrick).
In the session you will experience how preparing and reflecting on your conversation can help you be more influential at work. You will learn how to communicate more effectively with the people needed to achieve positive change. You will leave with a self-revised version of a difficult conversation and a practical model to use when you get back to work.
