2. Conventions of a typical thriller film.
The female antagonist,
usually portrayed as a
male, is stalking the female

The antagonist is hiding from the
protagonist so that she isn’t seen
stalking her.
The dark lighting
suggests the theme of
the film.
The shot only shows half of her
face, which could suggest that
they want to keep her
character a mystery.
A typical thriller

we wanted to
show how it could
happen to
anyone, and it
doesn’t always
have to be a male.

3. Typical titling.
• Also a typical thriller film would normally have a dark
background with a strange font to make clear to the
audience that they are about to watch a thriller film.
• For example, here are a few thriller film/TV series
titles that use the dark background and the creepy
bold fonts to show that it is a thriller.

4. We decided to put the titling in the
corner so that you could still see the
video footage because we liked the
opening sequence as it was quick,
flashing images and video which
made the film seem tense and
creepy, which was our intention.
This was to the end of the titling sequence when the title of the film was shown. The title is
obviously ‘Hello’ and we had the black and white shot up first, for about 5 seconds, fading
in and out. Then we had the second shot which is the crayon picture, which just quickly
flashed up on screen. And lastly we had the production company with a black background.
We wanted the production company on a blank screen because we wanted the audience to
see who produced the film, as we feel it is important.

5. • As a group we decided to film in broad
daylight, because most thrillers are filmed in
darkness to represent the night time, which
was too typical for us, so we challenged this,
and filmed our first bit of footage mid
afternoon. It was winter time, so it was grey
skies, but still very bright compared to normal
thriller films.

6. • Also the antagonist wears a grey jacket and
black jeans, where as the protagonist wears,
not brightly coloured clothes, but colours
instead of black, which clearly shows the
audience through stereotypes, who is the
antagonist.
• Also the protagonist is smiling which shows
that her life was happy before the stalking
began.

7. Camera shots and filming techniques.

film as it shows how the
stalker is following her .
When watching the thriller we noticed that it isn’t very
noticeable due to the shot being cut short but of you look in
the top left window you can see the protagonist sat in the
window, we decided to do this to show how the stalker is a
complete mystery, and maybe that they are not human?
The two shots of the stalker in

face shows they’re mysterious.
