2. ANCILLARY TEXTS
 These are my ancillary texts for
my media brief, which includes a
cd cover and a back cover, a
poster and 3 inlay cars, thy all
have various images from
different camera angles. This
allowed for a variation of
different angles to show the
artist in different ways. Also with
different images it stops the
inlays from being repetitive and
boring. Each media product
looks different which allows it to
be unique.

3.  Our song mainly consists of two genres of rap and rnb, I feel our song
is a mixture of the both, I think this is represented in our ancillary
texts, for example the ancillary texts show more of a rap side while
the video shows more of the R&B, this shows the two sides of the
artist, one side the rapper and then the caring side that is represented
in the video
Above are our ancillary texts and below are our music video, the texts above portray
our artist as a rapper, more “street”, while below it shows the artist “st” as caring
which is a totally opposing representation but the rapper elements are still there.

4. INLAY CARD
 Our inlay cards show our artist as a street rapper this is
shown through the first inlay card on the left where there
is a low angle shot of the artist portraying him as
dominant through him looking down, his clothing is also
another indicator to his genre, the baseball cap and
leather jacket, he is not represented like this in the
music video, rather dressed with a light blue shirt which
portrays him as a better person, but still contains the
rapper elements of the baseball cap and the watch, by
showing two sides of an artist it allows for the audience
to identify with our artist and that he is not only just a
negative artist he can be positive one that is portrayed
in the music video. by being portrayed in this way he is
show as loving and caring, this shows that not all rap
artists have to follow the similar connotations of being
tough as they can also be caring as well.

5. SIMILARITIES
 As we can see the bottom inlay cards, we can see that there is
the rapper side still incorporated from the inlay cards to the music
video from the baseball cap and watch, they are subtle hints to
portray the artist as a rapper still. Throughout the video our artist
is wearing a baseball cap, and this is also the case in the
ancillary tasks, this created an identity for our artist and his
baseball cap.

6.  The front cover shows a side shot of the artist
looking over London which was meant to
demonstrate that he was looking over London
and he would be in control and shows where he
has come from, it has connotations that one day
he hopes for something new and better and get
away from the hoody life that he lives in now.
This representation was not portrayed in the
music video rather it shows the loving and
caring side of that the artist and his girl will
make it “somehow someway”, however I feel the
song can also be applied with his life how that
“somehow someway” he will be a break through
success which the audience would be able to
relate to along with getting on track with his
girlfriend once again.

7. POSITIVE REPRESENTATION
 Our artist is portrayed positively throughout the music video by
use of setting and lighting compared to the ancillary texts which
are quite dark and a bit more sinister, our music video is opposing
with the use of the mis en scene, the setting is mostly of a positive
environment, on a bright sunny day, not at night or in a dark place
where you tend to associate rap along with.
