3. WHA T IS ETWINNING?
eTwinning offers a platform for staff (teachers, head teachers, librarians, etc.), working in a
school in one of the European countries involved, to communicate, collaborate, develop
projects, share and, in short, feel and be part of the most exciting learning community in
Europe
A safe platform – identity is checked by your national agency
If you want to set up a project, start looking for a potential partner with the following
criteria:
- sharing similar objectives and agreeing on a topic for your collaborative project;
- communicating regularly and openly;
- having comparable age, number and language level of pupils;
- having access to ICT equipment at school to allow for effective collaboration

improvement of a school practice, or new knowledge.
27. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
In this section you will find all Online Professional development opportunities
eTwinning offers at European level. Learning Events are short intense and enjoyable
courses that give you an introduction to a topic, stimulate ideas, helps develop your
skills and do not require a long-term commitment in terms of your time.
Online Seminars are live video-communication sessions of one hour where you have
the chance to learn, talk and discuss about several themes.
To apply and participate in each of these events click on the name of the event and
follow the instructions. We hope you enjoy these opportunities.
30. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
What is an eTwinning Group?
Groups are virtual places where eTwinners meet and discuss about specific subjects,
topics or other areas of interest. What is not an eTwinning Group? It is not a tool to
communicate with your project partners (use the TwinSpace for that) nor a partner
finding forum.
