Essay On True Friend
Crafting an essay on the subject of a "True Friend" is, without a doubt, a task that delves into the
complexities of human relationships and emotions. The challenge lies not only in defining the
elusive concept of true friendship but also in capturing its essence through words. Friendship,
being a subjective and deeply personal experience, is not easily confined to a set of
predetermined rules or parameters. Therefore, one must navigate through the vast landscape of
emotions, experiences, and values to paint a comprehensive picture of what constitutes a genuine
and lasting connection between individuals.
The difficulty intensifies when attempting to articulate the intangible qualities that define a true
friend. It requires delving into the intricacies of trust, loyalty, understanding, and mutual support
– abstract notions that demand careful consideration and thoughtful analysis. The risk of
oversimplification or generalization looms large, as each friendship is unique, shaped by the
personalities, histories, and shared moments of the individuals involved.
Furthermore, the writer must tread the fine line between sentimentality and objectivity. While it
is essential to convey the emotional depth and significance of true friendship, an essay should
also maintain a level of intellectual rigor. Striking the right balance between heart and mind is no
easy feat, as emotions often threaten to overpower reason, and vice versa.
In essence, writing an essay on true friendship demands a nuanced understanding of human
connections, adept storytelling skills, and the ability to navigate the complexities of emotions. It
requires the writer to reflect deeply on personal experiences, societal expectations, and
philosophical perspectives on friendship. The challenge lies not only in expressing one's thoughts
coherently but also in resonating with the diverse experiences and perspectives of the readers.
In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic of true friendship is a task that involves navigating
the intricate web of human emotions, experiences, and values. It demands a delicate balance
between the personal and the universal, the emotional and the intellectual. However, with careful
consideration and a thoughtful approach, one can unravel the layers of this profound human
connection and present a compelling narrative.

Lord of the Flies, by William Golding
Jack Merridew is an ordinary boy who turns into a perfect savage. Jack is the leader
to a group of boys called the choir. In the beginning of the novel, we see the choir as
a creature in the distance. When they arrive Jack acts almost like a military
sergeant shouting orders at them. The way Jack treats them brings to mind of an
army of authority and arrogance. With Jack so used to being in charge, when
Ralph is elected leader his face has a blush of mortification, and doesn t like the
decision. Jack is arrogant as when he is introduced to Ralph he insists that he is
called by his first name Merridew . Ralph is fair haired and he, at the end, has the
most sense of decency whereas Jack is red haired. The connotation of red could...

The boys carried on collecting firewood and bathing, without worrying about the
events the previous night. Piggy was the strongest in mind yet weakest in body, so he
was the person that would fall victim to bullying. When Simon died, he tries to avoid
bringing the incident up. When Ralph brought up the incident Piggy denied that it
was on purpose, but just a mere accident. The significance of this death was that when
he died, it brought the boys from civilised to savage, as they ceased to see the
difference between a fellow human and an animal (the beast). Another significant
event is the death of Piggy. He died from trying to talk some sense into the
opposing tribe. Piggy, on the island was the adult inside all of them; he is a logical,
intelligent and a rational thinker. His name Piggy makes the reader think of a boy
who is not very fit and lonely. When Piggy died talking sense to Jack, without any
remorse Roger crushed his skull with a boulder. The significance of Piggy s death
was that he was the only one left on Ralph s side so when he died, it left Ralph
alone. Also, Piggy was holding the conch at the time so when the conch shattered, it
represented the loss of rational thinking, civilisation and the start of savagery and the
end of kindness, morality and self respect.
Golding describes the deaths of Piggy and Simon in two very different ways. Simon s
death is described over two pages and

Violent Media Images and Video Games Results In Violent Behavior
Can violent media images and video games result in violent behavior? The answer
is yes. For a few decades now hundreds of researchers have take time to research the
relationship of media images and video games to violent behavior in children. In
the next few paragraphs I will discuss why media images and video games result in
violent behavior in children. This paper will also provide some important factors that
adults should know about media images and video game violence.
It has been researched that media images and video games can be harmful and
damaging to children s minds. Most children watch 21 23 hours of television per
week (Media Violence 1). Within the 21 23... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I am a true believer that media and video game violence has a great affect on
children. There have been real life examples that depict violence acts due to media
images and video games. A great example of all of this would be the Columbine
High School, shooting. This act of violence occurred on April 20, 1999 when two
heavily armed boys walked into the Columbine High School in Colorado and shot to
death 12 of their fellow classmates and a teacher before they turn the violent act on
themselves. When the Columbine case was investigated, authorities came to find out
that the boys spent numerous of hours playing a video game called First Person
Shooter . Apparently the boys modified this video game to look like the layout of
Columbine High School, using copied yearbook pictures of fellow students as the
shooting target.
I am a strong believer that this video game had a powerful connection to the
Columbine shooters act of violence. I believe that the Columbine shooters were
brainwashed as they played First Person Shooter (video game). This realistic video
game encouraged the two shooters to take the violence to school just like they played
for numerous of hours.
Another perfect example of violent media images
Medical And Health Services Manager Career Goals
The profession that I have chosen to pursue after the completion of my degree will
be a Medical and Health Services Manager also known as an Office Manager or
Executive Administrative. A person in this profession could start out in an entry
level position and will have many responsibilities that I see myself doing. I could
direct or coordinate daily work for hospitals, nursing home, and clinics. I would be
working directly with doctors, nurses, and other department managers. The education
requirements for a medical and healthservices manager position are a bachelors or
master s degree. The degree I am pursuing will be a Bachelor of Science in
Healthcare Administration which will take about four years to complete. Some of
the classes that are needed to complete this degree at Kaplan University are College
Composition 1 and 2, Leadership and Ethic in Healthcare, Information Technology
and System for healthcare, and Strategic planning and Organizational Development
of healthcare. For some job positions a certification needed. Certified Compliance
Technician is one test that can be taken. This certification is for employees to meet
the annual training and compliance responsibilities for their position. Having... Show

Another good skill to have is the ability to solve problems in the best way possible.
Having knowledge of medical terminology, the laws and public safety is important
also. People in this line of business will do well because they are known for
leadership and decision making. We are very dependable, adapt well and take
initiative in stressful situations. I believe I would be a great Medical and Health
Services Manager because I hold all this traits. Everything I do I always give it my

The Uniqueness Of The Kodaly Method
Chapter One The Uniqueness of the Kodaly Method Zoltan Kodaly chose a child
developmental approach when developing his method. This approach teaches skills
in the order and pace in which the child develops rather than subject logic. In a
subject logic approach there is no relationship between the order of presentation and
the order in which children learn easily. The subject matter is simply organized in a
fashion that seems reasonable in terms of content. The subject logic approach
rhythmically begins with the whole note and progresses in a manner that is
mathematically reasonable, proceeding next to the half note and then to the quarter
note. This progression is, however, very difficult for a beginning student who has
not yet even learned how to feel a basic beat. Melodically speaking, the diatonic
major scale is the general starting point from a subject logic approach. This also
causes issues because the average young child cannot accurately sing a diatonic major
scale. According to research, most children are able to sing a range of only five or six
tones and cannot produce half steps in tune. Unlike the subject logic approach, the
child development approach of the Kodaly method requires arranging subject matter
into patterns that align with the sequence of normal child abilities at various stages of
growth. Rhythmically speaking, moving rhythms are more child related than
sustained rhythms. Children can relate a rhythm such as steady beat quarter
The Transformation Of Bacteria ( Green Fluorescent
Protein )
Transformation in bacteria is something that could be essential for survival in a
bacteria. In order to perform this transformation naturally a bacterium must
considered competent, otherwise it must undergo an artificial transformation. Being a
competent cell means that the bacteria can take up DNA from its environment
naturally (5). Those that are not competent such as Escherichia colithat are not
naturally competent can be tested with an artificial transformation, such as what we
will use in this experiment. Methods used can obtain things such as chemical
mutagens or radiation (1). The gene used for the transfer is the GFP gene (Green
Fluorescent Protein), which gives an illuminating appearance under a UV light when
conducted properly,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Experiments introduce the idea that the uptake of DNA by competent bacteria can be
the result for survival reasons such as need for food or evolution purposes (5). The
difference between natural and artificial gene transformation in a bacteria, however,
with those who are incompetent versus competent allow he or she to conduct an
experiment with artificial transformation. By doing this one may be able to
determine and observe the formation of biofilms or mutations by transferring a gene
to another organism for beneficial or harmful purpose. This could lead to finding
resistants or if a gene introduced has any effect on the bacteria. In the experiment, the
pGLO plasmid contained encodes the gene for GFP as well as a gene for resistance
to an antibiotic allowing a transformation to take place when adding a carbohydrate
such as arabinose to the medium. Research has been found on the horizontal gene
transfer on how virulence factors are acquired as well as genes resistant to
antibiotics spread with microorganisms (5). By conducting a similar experiment he
or she can observe similar findings or observe the results and conduct some sort of
understanding of these ideas. The findings in this experiment are to show a positive
result in what causes growth and the glowing when the plasmid pGLO is added to
the positive as well as the difference in the medium. Understanding the way artificial

Susan Foster Protest Summary
Susan Foster s Choreographies of Protest The term movement is a corporeal
application to protest and social movements.
When individuals choose to participate in these kinds of political demonstration, they
commit themselves to physical action, whatever form it takes.
As they fathom injustice, organize to protest, craft a tactics, and engage in action,
these bodies read what is happening and articulate their imaginative rebuttal. In so
doing they demonstrate to themselves and all those watching that something can be
done. Could this be why they are called political movements ?

a child of their own. The next day there was a miracle, the Queen was going to

his wife will pass so will the baby if he don t do something about it. The King
ordered the maids to watch over his wife while he looked for a cure for her illness
in the kingdom. He got a group of soldiers that same day to find a cure for his wife
to get better. All the soldiers and himself went looking all over the kingdom for a
special plant that can heal anything or anyone. The King separated the soldiers and
the king went riding his horse deep in the forest where he found a garden in the

Michael Mann s Movie Version of James Fenimore Cooper s Last of the Mohicans
The 1992 movie version of James Fenimore Cooper s The Last of the Mohicans
was directed by Michael Mann and starred Daniel Day Lewis, Madeleine Stowe,
Steven Waddington, Russell Means and Eric Schweig. As an epic about human
conflict, the movie addresses all the necessary elements of social, political and
spiritual concern required for such a production; however, the grandiose spectacle of
Hollywood film making abilities cannot mask the stereotypical Native American
imagery blatantly portrayed in this movie.

The movie begins symbolically with drumbeats similar to heartbeats. It is 1757,
with French and British at war, and Indians involved on the two sides. The plot
basically concerns Cora s and Alice s arrival in the colonies. They are escorted by
British soldiers but are ambushed by a war party of Huron Indians. First of all,
whatever is depicted by the media can provide a lasting and pervasive impression.
Huron Indians were generally peaceful people. Furthermore, while the Huron
fought regularly with the Iroquois, they did not indiscriminately attack groups of
people. Many of the Indians in the film actually are white actors. The character of
Hawkeye is confusing culturally since he is a white trapper who was raised by the
Mohicans. He saves Cora from being killed by the leader of the Huron war party.
Cora and Hawkeye fall in love.
The canoes and weapons used in the film were constructed in the traditional Indian
way. The character of Chingachgook is played by a Native American Indian and
activist. Both Indians and whites participate peacefully in a lacrosse game. At the
same time, the film portrays Indians and whites as equals and mingling as a group.
The fact is that in the colonialist context that historically shaped settler discourse,
indigenous populations were routinely defined as a problem people in need of
control. The movie does not give and indication of the relations of superiority and
dominance on the part of
Max Brooks Zombie World War Z
Zombies According to zombie movies and books, there are several steps people can
take to stay safe when zombies are on the prowl. Legends and other stories describe
zombies as dead people who have been brought back to life. Many reasons are very
simple and explain that, why zombies have invaded our media. First reason, is the
fear of war or lack of safety. Second, the fear or slavery. Last reason, the virus out of
control. This problem from the past, the fear of war or lack of safety. In the time

There are many reasons to justify our fears against Zombies insects because some
diseases brings by insects pose serious problem to public health. The insects bite

viruses in the nature. For example, ticks are the leading carriers (vectors) of
diseases to humans in the United States, second only to mosquitoes worldwide. In
most circumstances, it is not the tick bite but the toxins, secretions, or organisms in
the tick s saliva transmitted through the bite that cause disease, some of which are
capable of transmitting infections, and also,in particular, paralyses all the body.

Bergen-Belsen Camp
Established in 1940, Bergen Belsen was originally a prisoner of war camp. It was
formerly named Stalag 311 until 1943 when the camp was converted into a
concentration camp and renamed Bergen Belsen. Bergen Belsen was divided into
eight different sub camps: a special camp (Sonderlager), neutral s camp
(Nuetralenlager), a tent camp (Zeltlager), small women s camp (Kleines
Fravenlager), large women s camp (Grosses Fravenlager), star camp (Sternlager), a
Hungarian camp (Ungarnlager), and a recuperation camp (Ernolungslager). Bergen
Belsen was only built to hold around 10,000 prisoners, but by the end of the war the
camp held more than 60,000 prisoners. This concentration camp had good living
standards compared to other camps like Auschwitz. However,
Hillary Clinton Controversy
Hillary Clinton has been involved in politics for over 50 years. During this time,
she has served as first lady from 1993 until 2001, and as senator of New York from
2001 to 2009. In 2009, she was appointed Secretary of State and served in the
position until 2013 (bio.com). She claims to be the most transparent public figure of
modern times (TheHill). An interesting comment from someone who was voted The
Daily Caller s least honest presidential candidate (Daily Caller). It s safe to say that
Hillary s past is filled with controversy. She should not be elected as president
because she has repeatedly lied to the American people. These instances include, but
are not limited to the Whitewater Scandal, her private email server, and the attack...

Between 2009 and 2013 she sent 62,320 emails. Over half of these emails
contained information that was work related. This equates to 21.5 work related
emails per day (Keneally). Although most of these emails contain little information
of importance, 65 are being withheld by the government because they include
classified information (Atlantic). While this may seem like a trivial fact, it is
quite the opposite. In fact, Hillary s actions could potentially break four federal
laws. The first is the Federal Records Act, which requires agencies to keep their
official communications, including work related emails. Knowingly deleting
emails, the same way Hillary did, can result in a fine or one year in prison. The
second law is the Freedom of Information Act, which ensures public access to
agency records and information. This information is supposed to be presented in a
timely manner. However, Mrs. Clinton only presented 55,000 pages of her emails
that she declared relevant . Of course, if she had something to hide in those emails,
she would not have made those public. How then do we trust that she was honest in
the bring forth of these documents? The third law are the regulations regarding the
National Archives. These regulations require information to be readily found when
they are needed (NPR). When Hillary was first questioned about her private server,
she declared that there were no classified emails

The government uses the principles of social justice, considers the cost for the
individual and community, as well as the prevalence and prevention that will reduce
the impact of occurrences of the condition or disease. The condition Arthritis was the
seventh disease to be selected by NHPA, this choice was due to evidence based
information in 2002 by the Australian Health Ministers ( Australian Institute Of
Health And Welfare,2017). Arthritis conditions are large contributors to the NHPA
due to the pain, illness, and disability caused in Australia, disability being the biggest.
Disability can restrict a lot of things ranging from work, day to day routine,
housework, activities, and sports etc, increasing costs and economic consequences
such as medical treatments and physio. In 2011 2012 an estimated 6.1 million
people, 28% of the world s population has arthritis, more than 3.1 million Australians
were estimated to be affected by arthritis in 2007 2008(Australias Health Gov,2013).
Showing the estimated statistics in 2008 was wrong and the prevalence increased by
3 million, the prevention of this condition from 2008 was not successful.
A risk factor is any aspect, individual or exposure of a single being that increases the

Sqlite Essay
SQLite is an Open Source database. SQLite supports standard relational database
features like SQL syntax, transactions and prepared statements. The database requires
limited memory at runtime (approx. 250 KByte) which makes it a good candidate
from being embedded into other runtimes.
SQLite supports the data types TEXT (similar to String in Java), INTEGER
(similar to long in Java) and REAL (similar to double in Java). All other types must
be converted into one of these fields before getting saved in the database. SQLite
itself does not validate if the types written to the columns are actually of the defined
type, e.g. you can write an integer into a string column and vice versa.

Other more familiar database engines run great once you get them going. But doing
the initial installation and configuration can be intimidatingly complex.
Server less
Most SQL database engines are implemented as a separate server process.
Programs that want to access the database communicate with the server using
some kind of interprocess communication (typically TCP/IP) to send requests to
the server and to receive back results. SQLite does not work this way. With SQLite,
the process that wants to access the database reads and writes directly from the
database files on disk. There is no intermediary server process. There are advantages
and disadvantages to being server less. The main advantage is that there is no
separate server process to install, setup, configure, initialize, manage, and
troubleshoot. This is one reason why SQLite is a zero configuration database engine.
Programs that use SQLite require no administrative support for setting up the
database engine before they are run. Any program that is able to access the disk is
able to use an SQLite database.
On the other hand, a database engine that uses a server can provide better protection
from bugs in the client application stray pointers in a client cannot corrupt memory
on the server. And because a server is a single persistent process, it is able control
database access with more precision, allowing for finer grain locking and better
concurrency.
Most SQL database engines are

What style did the artist work in? (This is noted for you at the beginning of this
assignment). Diego Rivera worked in political protest. He had been asked to paint a
mural in Moscow for the 10th anniversary of the October Revolution but was ordered
out due to involvement in anti Soviet politics. Upon his return to Mexico he was
kicked out of the Mexican Communist Party due to their belief that his 1928 mural
In the Arsenal was believed by some to show Rivera s prior knowledge of a murder
by a Stalinist assassin. And in 1933, Rivera was asked to paint a mural in
Rockefeller Center, New York, and when they saw it contained the image of
Vladimir Lenin it was removed from the wall, and Rivera lost his commission to
paint a mural for the World s Fair in Chicago. (Wikipedia)

The Effects Of Captive Orcas On The Whales

Effects Of Captive Orcas
The effect on orca whales being held in captivity is not the greatest, and the history
between humans and the whales that are held in captivity is also not very good. It
is a subject that many scientists are working together to learn about. Even though
the orcas help to educate kids by doing live shows and by helping the kids
understand that they need to save the orca whales that are endangered, orcas should
not be held in captivity because many accidents have happened between humans and
the captive orcas and it is not good for their health. Another name for the orca whales
is the scientific name, orcinus orca , or the name that you probably hear most often ...

Occasionally the whales will fight with each other due to stress, but since they are
in such a small enclosure they have nowhere to go to get away from each other like
they would in the wild. Many orcas that are held in captivity have problems with
their teeth and they have to have their teeth drilled. All captive adult male orcas
have collapsed dorsal fins, likely because they have no space in which to swim freely
and are fed an unnatural diet of thawed dead fish (8 Reasons). Some killer whales
also develop infections and the whales are not healthy because they are not fed a
healthy diet like they would eat in the ocean.
Captive orcinus orcas live in a relatively small space compared to their natural
habitat. An orca would have to swim back and forth in it s tank many times each
day to equal the amount of miles it would swim in the ocean daily. Captivity is, in
essence, poor habitat for orcas, causing early death (Captivity). Due to all the
problems with killer whales being held in captivity, the whales experience a much
shorter lifespan in captivity compared to their lifespan in the wild. Also all whales

Wedding Speech By The Maid Of Honor And The Best Man
For every person that exists, there is at least one other person with whom they will
laugh with, love with, and live life with. These are the people who will support the
decisions you make, encourage you to keep going after massive failures and love
you despite all your flaws. We cherish the relationships we built and the friendships
we have because there s nothing more valuable than having your best friend s
presence through each decision made, through each important event, through each
step you take in life. Without friends, we would be alone. The devotion and loyalty
between two friends are shown through real life interactions. However, written
words can also show how much two friends care for one another. Text messages
and wedding speeches may seem to have no connection to each other, but through
content, tone and specific conventions, both genres reveal how close two people
are. A wedding speech is usually given by the maid of honor and the best man.
These two positions hold special meaning because it is meant to be given by
someone whom the bride and groom cherish and love. To be given the position of
maid of honor or best man already shows how much love and respect the bride or
groom has for their friend. Wedding speeches, in return, show how much love and
respect the maid of honor or best man holds for their friend. Because wedding
speeches are written by close friends, the content in the speech, oftentimes, make it
touching and emotional. Most commonly, the
Brave New World By Aldous Huxley
In the book Brave New World, by Aldous Huxley, the character John the Savage is
brought from his homeland of Malpais to London. When he arrives he finds that this
world is very different from his own. Saddened and angered by the injustice of the
society, he attempts to isolate himself from the world. John the Savage s experience
of being exiled from Malpais was enriching in that it showed him the true nature of
the Other Place and alienating in that he was separated from his culture and not able
to integrate into the new one. This illuminates the meaning of the work in that it
shows the negative side of the utopian society. John the Savage s exile from his
homeland was enriching in that it showed him the true nature of the Other Place....

Don t you even understand what manhood and freedom are? (Huxley 212 213)
This quote shows how he became aware of the injustice of the system. His
discovery of the true nature of the Other Place was an enriching experience. It
allowed him to no longer wonder about what the outside world was like and to no
longer hold an idea in high regard that was not worthy of it. The truth is better than
the lie and in learning the truth, John was enriched by his experience of being cut
off from his homeland. John the Savage s exile from his homeland was alienating
in that it separated him from his culture and he was not able to integrate into the
new one. John the Savage grew up in a society with very different views from that
of the society in London. It was very difficult for him to not be around other people
who shared similar ideas with him. This is exemplified by the quote ... Listen,
Lenina; in Malpais people get married. Get what? The irritation had begun to creep
back into her voice. What was he talking about now? For always. They make a
promise to live together for always. What a horrible idea! Lenina was genuinely
shocked. (Huxley 191) He was unable to connect with anyone on a deep level
because of this intrinsic difference between them. Therefore, this experience was
alienating for him because he was set apart from the rest of the society. The
experience was so alienating that John the Savage removed himself from the society
around him. I shall go away
Persuasive Essay On Ocean Pollution
Throughout many decades there has been a huge environmental problem, not only
putting marine life at risk but also human health. Ocean pollution is a big threat to
the habitat and still today we haven t stopped throwing trash, chemicals or toxins into
the oceans. During the 1940 s, a technical service of the Army dumped a lot of
chemical warfare into the sea, believing the type of gas will dissolve in the water
becoming harmless in minutes. At that time, fishermen were able to catch a lot of
fish, it wasn t until they were out of luck and all they could see were dead fish
floating on the surface. Many people think that oil spills and trash are the only types
of ocean pollution, but they re also forgetting about chemical, bacterial and thermal
pollution. Polluted seas can be the cause of many diseases or infections, especially
if people don t take big measures like telling their kids not to accidentally drink
water from rivers or lakes when swimming. Marine animals are a big part of our
food chain if they carry diseases or toxins we re also in big danger. Today, there have
been many people who have been trying to stop others from polluting the oceans, but
they still haven t been able to convince the whole world to end ocean pollution. The
government, instead of wasting money on unnecessary things like building walls or
building more towers and creating more trash they should build trash contractors that
will help with the trash floating around in the seas. There are

Twins and Nature versus Nurture What makes identical or fraternal twins different
from each other? A few people might say it depends on how their parents raised
them, others might say that other forces such as what traits personality wise, they
inherited from their family could have an effect on their way they are. This in so
many words in called Nature versus Nurture. This is an interesting concept, especially
involving twins and their behaviors, because they have the same DNA and studies
might show better results rather than using regular siblings, with different genes
versus twins who have the same exact DNA.
From my personal experience as an identical twin, my sister Alexandra and I were
raised together our entire lives and we would do anything to be different from
each other. If she cut her hair I would grow mine out, etcetera. Our personalities are
very different as well, we had the same group of friends, but we had hardly any
classes together in idle school and high school. I was into sports such as cross
country, tennis and track, Alex was into her art classes and liked to make people
laugh. There was another set of twins in our high school so similar to each other that
their names were even Brittani and Brandi. They had the same style of clothing,
hairstyles and didn t do a lot of extracurricular activities. This is out of the norm for
twin studies because their parents both raised them together. So what
Analysis Of The Linear Model Using Microsoft Office

1. Introduction
It is acknowledged that real world situations could be represented by well structured
and formulated Linear Programming models. These mathematical tools contribute
significantly to business activities and can be used to tackle problems that constantly
arise.
Franco Sounds is a company specialised in manufacturing Hi Fi Amplifiers of top
quality and its main goal, at the moment, is to minimise its overall production and
transportation cost.
This report presents a quantitative analysis which has been conducted in order to
fulfil the company s goal. The primary purpose of it is to provide the clients with the
best recommendations drawn from the model s formulation and solution as well as to
underline all the crucial assumptions.
The following objectives had been considered:
a.A formulation of the appropriate linear programming model for the optimal solution
b.An analysis and interpretation of the linear model using Microsoft Office Excel s
Solver.
2. Definition of the problem
In three cities of Europe, such as Porto, Bratislava and Vilnius, Hi Fi Amplifiers, are
produced by Franco Sound. Each plant is respectively capacitated with 2500, 1500
and 1000 units per month. The company s markets are located in ten different
European cities as well, each of which has a demand per month. (Table 1 Appendix

transportation cost, from each city to each destination is ВЈ0.01 per/km.
New Physics Essay
What is the (next accessible) scale of new physics?
We do not have a clear answer. We are living through a challenging and exciting era,
in sharp contrast to the situation in the past (half) century in physics.
The discovery of the Higgs boson, the determination of the non zero $theta_ {13} $
neutrino mixing parameter, the first detection of gravitation waves, and many
significantly improved experimental probes for new physics beyond the standard
model mark the great triumphs of our understandings of nature.
Profound puzzles of nature, such as hierarchy problem, dark matter, neutrino
properties, matter antimatter asymmetry, strong CP, flavor structure, etc., are actively
being explored but yet remain to be solved. However, no clear ... Show more content

My research on supersymmetry~(SUSY) includes DM physics in conjunction with
Higgs boson, SUSY particle searches in scenarios such as compressed spectra,
stealthy SUSY and displaced SUSY with long lived particles, as well as using the
Higgs bosons as portals to SUSY particles.
Moreover, I am experienced and interested in QCD and Jet observables at colliders in
both traditional kinematics construction and Machine Learning methods.
Furthermore, my research in studies of general resonances also stands out, such as
colored resonances, $tbar t$ resonances, $Z^prime$ and $W^prime$ through
assorted asymmetries and electroweak radiation observables.
Currently, I have pioneered in using unconventional on shell interference effects to

several critical processes at the LHC and found these interesting on shell

also unique probes for BSM physics. What s more, I am working on using angular

exotic long lived particle signatures in stop coannihilation DM scenario in the MSSM
and a next to minimal dark matter model.

Inequality In The Two-State Solution
Israeli and Palestinian Solutions:
For centuries nations have effortly tried to gain peace between Israel and Palestine,
but it has proven to be an impossible task. The problem isn t only in the current
political situation and relations between the countries, with every new born
generation it flames it s distant past. There are two groups are fighting for the same
small territory, with both having deep ties to the land. The states both having
reasonable argument, of historical and religious background, and within confines, two
nationally distinct groups, who are divided by language, culture, and history, cannot
live wholly apart or wholly together.

The UN and many international countries recognize the borders as the 1967
borders set by the International countries as a means to ended the Palestinian
/Israeli war. This is a small area is 10,000 square miles, or about the size of
Maryland. Both nation claims are valid and refer to historic and religious context.
Jewish claim is based upon the promise to Abraham and his descendants, that the land
was the site of the Jewish kingdom of Israel, destroyed by the Roman Empire, and
the need for a safe haven from European anti Semitism. Palestinian claims of the
land is based on their residency of this country for decades and that they
represented the majority of the people, rejecting the biblical era kingdom for a
modern day claim. If Palestinians agree to the biblical claim, they state that since
Abraham s son Ishmael was the forefather of Arabs, then God s promise of the land
to the children of Abraham includes Arabs as well. They do not believe that they
should give up their home land to compensate for European crimes against the
people of Israel. In the two state solution it would create a Palestinian state made
up of Gaza, the West Bank and East Jerusalem to exist alongside an Israeli state. For
years, it s been the government of Israel s stated policy, yet Palestinians debate that
the government of Israel is cheating them because lack of effort to the growth of

Palestinian state. The hopes for peace seems to diminish with Palestinians accuse
Israel of expanding lands and ripping away the resources that Palestinians want for
their statehood. In the ongoing conflict, Israel s is building a wall that separates
Palestinian territory from Israeli territory, a security fence for the Israeli, but an
apartheid wall for the Palestinians. According to Israeli human

For Mrs. Hewes the Introduction to Social Work class we were asked to interview
a licensed Social Worker and write an experience paper about the interview.
Finding a social worker to interview wasn t very hard for me because many of my
mother s friends got their masters in social work, but not many of them actually got
their license except for one of them. The licensed social worker that I interviewed
goes by the name of Tanya Hill. Tanya got her Masters of Social Work
at FloridaState
University in Tallahassee, Florida in 2000, as well as her license and she now
resides in Panama City, Florida. Tanya is someone that I have known since I was a
little girl and someone that I definitely aspire to be like once I graduate. My
interview with Tanya was over the phone since I did not have time to drive back to
Florida to do a face to face one, but while we were on the phone every answer she
gave me to the questions I asked were quite interesting. The first questionI asked
during the interview was, How long have you been working with this agency? In
this field? Tanya s response was that she has been Self Employed for 16 years.
When I asked Tanya if the agency was public or private or a non profit or for profit,
she said that she was a for profit solo practitioner. Another question that I had to ask
her is, What population do you serve? , her response was Developmentally Disabled
Children and Adults. I ve always known that was the population that she served, but

Themes Of All Quiet On The Western Front
All Quiet On The Western Front written by Erich Maria Remarque is a wonderful
tale that expresses the theme of comradeship, dehumanizing effects of war, and the
futility of war. All 296 pages are full of twists and turns, lessons to learn, and all the
brutality of war. This anti war book opens your eyes to situations you ve never
thought about. It shines a new light on battle that has never been documented before.
All Quiet on the Western Frontis a coming of age book that teaches you many
valuable things.
Remarque s All Quiet On The Western Front had many great lessons, one of the
greatest ones was the theme of comradeship. During his time on the front, Paul and
his buddies formed a bond with each other that could not be broken. This is clear
when Paul states that they are the strongest, most comforting thing there is
anywhere: they are the voices of my comrades. (Remarque 212) In this line, Paul
expresses his compassion and respect, he has for his comrades. Paul s thought
process encourages the idea that his friends help him get through each day, That
during his hardest times, his friends voices help him push through it. When Paul was
going through an internal battle, his comrades talked to him and helped him work it
out. For example, when Paul finally lets his frustrations out to his friends he listens to
them and feels comforted, reassured by their presence. (Remarque, 228) The theme
of comradeship is being able to forge connections with other soldiers.
Why I Want To Be A Veterinarian Essay
There are several professions that allow for an individual to succeed at doing
something they love to do. For example, computers, the health of others, working
cars, and even writing can lead to successful careers. The profession of veterinary
allows people how love to opperiate with animals to do just that. An individual
pursuing a career in Veterinary would want to go to a school like University of
California (UC Davis). As a student interested in being a Veterinarian , I want to go
to University of California (UC Davis)because their history as a university farm.
The decision to be a Veterinarian has been influenced by several different factors
and reasons. The first reason for my passion for Veterinary is the ability to help
animals who need it a lot. As a kid growing up, I would try to kill my dog elmo,
because I thought he was dying. Also, The hard process a veterinarian goes
through, allows for professional growth of knowing what to do to help animals
.Growing up I still want to be a veterinarian and there are many schools that help
with that. Veterinary would allow me to help animals almost everyday. Finally,

because they have the power to determine the cost of goods and the amount of

Private Companies are companies that are either owned by non governmental
organizations or by a relatively small number of shareholders or company members
which does not offer or trade its company stock (shares) to the general public on the
stock market exchanges, but rather the company s stock is offered, owned and traded
or exchanged privately (Google).
Private companies are very similar to independent companies; the only real difference
is that private companies can choose their shareholders. Private companies don t need
to meet the strict exchange commission requirements that public companies have to,
like having to give a certain percentage of their income to the government.
Independent companies are companies which work on their own; they can make
decision on their own and are free of influence by government or corporate interests.
Independent companies are different to subsidiaries as Independent companies are
not owned by any conglomerate. An advantage of an independent company is that all
the money the company makes is its own profit instead of being shared with other
companies. A disadvantage of an independent media company is that they often find
it difficult to survive against competition from bigger companies that are owned by
conglomerates as they are better known, which reduces their source of income
resulting in bankruptcy.

Genetic Viological Markers, Cytological Markers And...
Introduction
The traditional genetic analysis within populations by morphological markers,
cytological markers and biochemical markers has not been very efficient when the
selection objective involves several characteristics with unfavorable genetic
correlation (Schwerin et al., 1995). These complications might include interactions
between genes in the same locus (dominance) or in different loci (epitasis) or
between specific genes and the environment (genotype by environment interactions)
(Drinkwater et al., 1991). Also, the important phenotypic traits like rate of survival
are expressed very late in the life to serve as useful criteria of selection (Dodds et al.,
1996). To overcome this phenotype based genetic markers problem led to the... Show

A molecular marker may be a short DNA sequence such as a sequence surrounding a
single base pair change like single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) or a long one
like minisatellites (Jeffreys et al., 1985) and microsatellites (Jarne and Lagoda,
1996). That leads to the development of a new type of marker that is single
nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) (He et al., 2003). However, AFLP markers are
devoid of dense marker maps, so still used for QTL mapping and genetic diversity
studies in species (Nicholas, 1997; Van Haeringen et al., 2001). With time the
RFLPs was replaced by microsatellites for building genetic maps in human and
animal species. Factor responsible for development of microsatellites are firstly, at a
single microsatellite locus large number of alleles are found thereby, developing a
high heterozygosity values enabling to reduce the number of reference families to be
used for building the map and secondly, the possibility to perform genotypes by
simple PCR followed by allele sizing on polyacrylamide gels (Dinesh et al., 1995).
Some points should be taken into consideration when using molecular markers for
genetic studies. As for molecular biologists the genotyping procedure should be
simple and cheap in order to generate the vast amount of genotyping data as often
necessary. From the statistician s angle some characteristics are most important like
the dominance relationships, information content, neutrality, map positions or genetic

Oil is probably the source of pollution that kills the most marine life. The creatures
most affected by oil are animals like sea otters and seabirds that are found on the sea

It was clearly stated in the case that the products from those private label brands
can be 20 percent, or in some cases even 30 to 40 percent less than first tier national

series of price adjustments to absorb the impact of the entering of low priced
private label product in this case, Wal Mart s private label diapers supplied by
Kimberly Clark. Although the case didn t provide any alternative solutions to the
situation, in my opinion there were two main options to resolve the problem. The
first option is to lower the price of P amp;G s diaper product to better compete with
Wal Mart s private label. The second option is to mainly maintain or slightly raise
the price to establish P amp;G s diaper brand Pampers as a premium brand in the
segment.
As I mentioned before, when the concern came down to the price, it seems that it s
inevitable for P amp;G to reduce the price of their diapers in order to stay in the

Film Analysis Of The Film Edward Scissor Hands
Essay
The film Edward Scissor Hands by Tim Burton is seen as a modern day fairytale
with the story of a young man being pulled out of a solitary life into a large town that
has a very social community. When you look closely at the film you can see that it
has many deeper meanings and emotions that are displayed themes throughout the
film, some of these are: appearance vs reality, Conformity/sameness and Self
discovery.
Throughout this film we see the theme appearance vs reality which is shown many
times. For example, at the start of the movie we see the mansion which makes the
film look like a horror film but when you see it you are surprised since it has a big
colorful well kept garden and it makes it look a lot less intimidating. The most
noticeable example of this theme is Edward, when you first get a glimpse of
Edward we see him in a dark corner inside his mansion. He is spotted by peg who is
trying to sell make when she first sees him she doesn t feel threatened by him, then
she sees that he has a lot of features that make him look like a dangerous person
some of these are, sharp scissors/blades as hands, scars on his face, pale skin and
dark clothes with black untidy hair, when she sees these she tries to leave the
mansion but Edward tells her not to go.

Central Retinal Vein Occlusion
Central Retinal Vein Occlusion, Adult
Central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) is a blockage (occlusion) in the main
(central) vein that drains blood away from a layer of tissue at the back of your eye
(retina). The retina is the layer of nerve cells in the back of the eye that senses light
and sends signals to the brain for vision.
When you have CRVO, a blood clot forms inside your central retinal vein. This can
happen suddenly or gradually. The clot causes blood and fluid to leak out of the
central retinal vein. The blood and fluid collect in the central area of your retina
(macula). This causes vision loss or blurred vision in the affected eye. The blurriness
or loss of vision may be complete or partial. Partial loss may get worse over hours or
days.
CAUSES ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Atherosclerosis can slow blood flow and contribute to clot formation. CRVO is also
more likely to develop in:
People who are age 50 or older.
People who have any of the following medical conditions:
в—‹ High blood pressure.
в—‹ Diabetes.
в—‹ Increased pressure inside the eye (glaucoma).
в—‹ Increased blood clotting.
SYMPTOMS
The main symptom of this condition is a sudden and painless vision loss or blurring
in one eye. Other symptoms include:
Tiny spots or clumps that move across your vision (floaters).
Pain or pressure in your eye. This occurs in very bad cases.
DIAGNOSIS
This condition is usually diagnosed by a health care provider who specializes in eye
diseases (ophthalmologist). The ophthalmologist will do a complete eye exam. You
may have tests, such as:
A vision test.
An exam to check your retina after getting eye drops to open the pupil (slit lamp
exam).
An imaging study of your retinal blood flow after dye has been injected into your
bloodstream (fluorescein angiogram).

in rural areas. Its rising middle class demands more than just bread. Food and
agricultural operators based in India and abroad are responding to the country s
demands with an array of high quality food products that contribute to India s
increasing nutritional requirements and add value to India s agricultural supply
chain. However even today there are disparities of development between the rural
and the urban sector. In spite of planning, however, the regional disparity remained a
serious problem in India. A new controversy in this respect is whether growth rates
and standard of living in different regions would eventually converge or not. The
convergence postulates that when the growth rate of an economy accelerates, initially
some regions with better resources would grow faster than others. But after
sometime, when the law of diminishing marginal returns set in, first growth rates
would converge, due to differential marginal productivity of capital (higher in poorer
regions and lower in

(Porter, 1990) A stable and strong government is crucial in this phase, as it ensures
continuity of decision making. The World Economic Forum ranks China 8th
worldwide in macroeconomic stability (World Economic Forum, 2009). Unlike
many western societies, whose frequent elections and wide range of varying values
within the political system imply the risk of policy changes, China has but one all

competitive edge in industries with economies of scale, high capital costs and high
labour intensity. They ought to CIAM Working Paper 2 specialize in standardized

particular industry. The following section provides an overview of selected

Farewell To Arms Rain
The Negative Connotation of Rain Rain brings life to the earth, ending drought and
watering crops. However, Ernest Hemingway uses rain as a much more negative
symbol in A Farewell to Arms. In the first chapter of the novel, rain is immediately
established as a sign of bad things to come. Then, it is raining right before Henry s
friend warns him that the Italian police are coming to arrest him. Thirdly, raincomes
in at the end of the novel at the same time that Catherine is close to giving birth,
foreshadowing that something bad will happen to her. From these three points, it is
clear that Hemingway portrays rain as a symbol that foreshadows negative events in
Henry s life. Firstly, rain is subtly established in the first chapter as the cause... Show

After spending some months in their snowy cabin in Switzerland, Catherine is
finally just a month away from labour. The decision is made when the rain comes:
Let s see how the weather turns out. It rained for three days. The snow was all gone
now on the mountain side below the station. The road was a torrent of muddy snow
water. It was too wet and slushy to go out. On the morning of the third day of rain
we decided to go into town. (Hemingway 263). The rain is what causes them to
move into the town where Catherine dies in labour. Also, the description of the rain
being so miserable gives a very melancholy feeling to the reader. Henry mentions that
the rain prevented them from going out, reinforcing that rain has a direct negative
effect on their lives. In the article A Farewell to Arms, Keith Neilson further expands
on Hemingway s use of rain: Hemingway associates the plains and rain with death,
disease, and sorrow; the mountains and the snow with life, health, and happiness.
Catherine and Henry are safe and happy in the mountains, but it is impossible to
remain there indefinitely. [...] When Catherine and Henry descend to the city, it is, in
fact, raining, and she does, in fact, die. (Neilson 3). This further shows the rain s
foreshadowing of negative events because of how it coincides with Henry and
Catherine moving to the city. Also, there are other natural symbols such as the snow,
mountains, and plains that act with and against rain. Since this shift to rainy weather
coincides with Catherine being a month away from going into labour, it foreshadows
her and their daughter s death at the end of the novel. In summary, rain foreshadows
Catherine s death when it coincides with Catherine being close to
Immanuel Wallerstein s World Systems Theory
Two theories of Globalisation that explain it relatively effectively are Immanuel
Wallerstein s World Systems theory and John W. Meyer s World Polity Theory.
Contrary to the tendency of classical sociologists to focus on society within the
nation state, World systems theory portrays nation states as units within the larger
world system. Wallerstein described the world System as an international class
system based on countries as units instead of individual people. He thought there are
three main categories of countries, the core, semi periphery and periphery. The Core
countries have much greater control over the means of production and capital and are
thus much wealthier, whilst the periphery counrtries are exploited for their resources
and cheap labour. Such a system perpetuates socio economic inequality, however the
system is somewhat dynamic and states can gradually shift between categories. This
system allows certain countries to achieve hegemony over the others, in this manner
the United Statesdominated the globe in the 20th Century. World Polity theory was
developed in response to the world systems theory. In this explanation the world has a
global culture or global polity that greatly influences how nation states, international
organisations and individual people are formed and evolve. The global polity helps
define the purpose, identity, behaviour and nature of these social units. The concept
of a nation state itself is only a relatively new concept introduced

The Origins and Developments of Electronic Dance Music (EDM) and Contemporary
Nightlife Musical Culture
The origins and developments of Electronic Dance Music initially started with the
development of the synthesizer. It was with these first uses of synthesized sounds that
prompted the development of sequencers, sampling, effects processing, musical
instrument digital interface (MIDI), use of computer technology, hard disk recording
systems and modern day virtual studio technology (VST s). These all fundamentally
build the genre of electronic music, as we know it today. The development of this new
technology brought many new genres to music, mostly popular, Electronic Dance
Music being one of these.

At the time, British inventor, Peter Zinovieff and American Composer, Raymond
Scott were both looking into basic electronic sequencing, however it was Buchla that
had the initial breakthrough. Before then, artists were manually cutting up and
splicing tape together to achieve sequences and Buchla found an electronic
alternative and soon developed his electronic sequencer. This meant that artists would
no longer need to go through the time consuming process of cutting up tape for
sequencing. Buchla said, you could simply take my sequencer and set the time and
the pitch for each interval. So that required, of course, a voltage controlled oscillator,
and from then it led to a bunch of other ideas (Pinch, 2004, p.40).
It was after the moog synthesizer that companies and inventors, much like Buchla,
had started to look at other ways of evolving electronics into music. The Minimoog
was a monophonic instrument, and instruments like the APR odyssey were soon
after introduced that allowed duophony possible on synthesizers. The APR odyssey
mk I was released in 1972, and was an aesthetically pleasing duophonic synthesizer,
making it easy for a performer to tweak the parameters of the synthesized sound with
sliders. By the mid 1970 s, well known companies like Sequential Circuits and
Yamaha had developed more advanced keyboard matrices, allowing polyphony to be
introduced to the electronic music scene. One
The Social Network Essay
The Dramatic Interpretation of the Social Network Myth After watching the movie
The Social Network, the first thing I did was to search for Mark Zuckerberg s real
life experiences to see which parts are facts and which are fictions. As a matter of
fact, this Harvard genius that founded the world s first social networkwas not as
childish as the movie portrayed. At least he didn t write programming for getting
into elite Harvard Final Clubs or for retaliating his girlfriend. During Mark s high
school, Microsoft and AOL tried to purchase the music player that he built and also
invited him to join them. However, Mark decided to enroll in Harvard for further
education. From where I stand, although the movie is fictional, it can easily... Show

Like, every single shirt and fleece that I had in that movie is actually a shirt or
fleece that I own. Someone might build something because they like building
things, Zuckerberg explains. Normally, Mark should be the person who cares
about the movie most and might be pissed off because the movie portrayed him in
an unflattering light. But it seems that he respects the ideas and decisions of the
filmmakers, more or less, in terms of artistic creation. It was because he wanted to
see how filmmakers would interpret his unimaginable story. This kind of art
stresses the maze beyond art and the real world, which can only be seen through by
smart people who also show respect to the artwork. The movie s final image
Zuckerberg friending the woman who dumped him and endlessly refreshing the
page to see if she accepts is presented as pathetic irony. But you could also read it as
a sign of hope. In the Facebook world, which is now ours, a new communication
infrastructure exists, with no avenues definitively closed. (Edelstein) The real
Zuckerberg had a vision that Facebook would help create communities in an ever
insular world. And now we have seen the evolution. The world is changing so fast

Internal Revenue Code section 1221 defines capital asset as property held by the
taxpayer (whether or not connected with his trade or business), but does not
include (1) Stock in trade of the taxpayer or other property of a kind which would
properly be included in the inventory of the taxpayer if on hand at the close of the
taxable year, or property held by the taxpayer primarily for sale to customers in the
ordinary course of his trade or business. As defined, Haig Simmons anthracite coal
home heating and delivery service business holds anthracite coal in the ordinary
course of business and therefore, is not considered a capital asset. Section 64
defines ordinary income as income earned from providing services or the sale of
goods (inventory) which is not a capital asset. Based on this definition, any asset
that does not classify as a capital asset is an ordinary asset. Since Haig Simmons
was providing home coal heating services for consumers, any inventory kept was for
the purpose of maintaining a steady, stable, and regular supply of coal and not held
as a long term asset for future sale gains.

Voting Rights Act Of 1965
States have utilized their discretion over the time, place, and manner to alienate large
segments of the voting population in the pass. From the Jim Crow era literacy tests
and poll taxes, to modern day voter ID laws, representatives have attempted to
disenfranchise voters at every turn. Thought the VotingRights Act of 1965 would
have ideally rid America of these obstacles by this point, vestiges of the manipulation
remain. The passage of years has brought a large degree of uniformity to election
laws. For example, all states except Louisiana permit election by plurality in general
elections. But several key distinctions prevail, and the desire for federalism here has
created issues with suffrage. Voter ID laws are perhaps the most visible... Show more

Now, congressional districts follow no reasonable pattern or logic; districts within
states vary drastically in terms of size, shape, and similarity of socio economic
diversity. Parties controlling state legislatures have the most say in the mapping of
Congressional districts, and consequently try to draw districts up in ways that
insulate incumbents. They draw district lines to maximize the number of seats
they can win, usually by concentrating opposition voters into the same districts.
This leads to a guaranteed loss in those districts, but allows the ruling party to win
the vast majority of other districts by tight, but secure margins. The wider the
margin of victory at the national level, the more dangerous gerrymandering
becomes to Congressional districts. This was true of the elections of 1974
(Democrats picked up 49 House seats and 4 in the Senate in the wake of
Watergate), 1994 (When Republicans gained 54 House and 10 Senate seats during
the Gingrich Revolution ), and 2006 (When Democrats won 31 House and six
Senate seats). For example, in 2010, Republicans scored a sweeping victory in the
House. They ended up controlling redistricting procedures for eighteen states,
compared to Democrats six. Republicans then exploited this opportunity to shore up
some of their marginal districts by adding in favorable voters to weakening districts.
The effects shine clearly: in 2012, only
Employee Engagement and Organizational Success
Leaders also try to achieve the same quality for their own status, which allows them
to pursue greater strength, achieve personal goals and future endeavours. According
to a recent study conducted by Psychometrics Canada a pioneer in research
assessment, has mentioned in one of its report that employee engagement in the
organisation plays a major role in the success of any organisation. Accordingly it
says that the best way to increase the relation is by working out a strategy that builds
positive environment and culture relations between the workers and ensuring a good
leader to fit for the purpose. Leaders in the organisation can try to achieve a better
employee engagement by listening to followers opinions, communicating his vision
with a clarity, providing and developing strategies and solution for the success, and
finally recognising the ability of the followers and praising their contributions.
Thisaspect of leadershipis displayed by general feedback, generating ideas and
possess enthusiastic in requesting for help (Bradley P. Owens, 2013). One
example of this leadership quality is described by DAVID J. BOBB(David J B,
2013) in his book saying following servant leadership is very difficult as it is not a
natural talent to anyone. He takes the example of George Washington, though
considered to be a man of high temper and showing excess pride in his capabilities
and qualities during his period as a freedom fighter. As he has foreseen the global

The Consequences Of Video Game Violence In Video Games
Violence in video games is well known for toeing the line between entertainment and
immorality. The controversy began as early as 1976, when protestors destroyed an
arcade game that revolved around hitting human like creatures with a car. As
computers grew more advanced in the next two decades, video game violence
became increasingly realistic ( Background of the Issue ). This prompted the
creation of the Entertainment Software Rating Board, commonly abbreviated
ESRB, in 1994 for parents to make informed decisions regarding the content their
children were exposed to. The 1999 shooting at Columbine High School fueled the
debate further, drawing potential connections between virtual violence and real
world consequences ( Background of the Issue ). In the years following, laws
regarding the sale of video games with graphic violence sprouted up across the
nation. Even the Supreme Court was involved ( Background of the Issue ). Today,
as many as 97% of US kids age 12 17 play video games, contributing to the $21.53
billion domestic video gameindustry ( Violent Video Games ). Critics of video
game violence argue that it directly increases a person s violent behavior and
lowers their tendency to act for the benefit of others. Defenders of video game
violence argue that media coverage of video game violence is heavily biased,
studies that link it to acts of violence are flawed, and that video game violence is a
harmless outlet for emotions of aggression. Critics of violence in video games
believe that it increases an adolescent s tendency toward violent actions. Multiple
credible organizations also view playing violent video games as a statistical detail
affecting a person s aggressive tendency. Over 98% of American pediatricians say
that children and teens become more aggressive when exposed to violent media
such as a violent video game ( Violent Video Games ). The FBI uses an individual s
violent video game history to assess the risk of a school shooting threat. The
American Psychological Association cites frequent violent video game exposure as
a risk factor that contributes to violence in teens ( Violent Video Games ). Some
groups that are against video game violence go as far as to list it as a primary cause
Why The Collapse Of The Weimar Republic
The collapse of the Weimar Republic may be attributed in large part to three main
factors. The first factor being the context under which the Weimar Constitution was
created. However, it would be the combination of the rise of the Deutsche
Arbeiterpartei and the timely occurrence of the Great Depression that would
ultimately prove too devastating for the Weimar Republicto survive.
By September of 1918 General Ludendorff proposed a new democratic government
in response to Germany s looming defeat in the First World War. Kaiser was
convinced to hand over power to a civilian government and plead for an armistice. In
doing so, Ludendorff hoped a civilian rule would incite more lenient peace terms
from the Allies. As well he hoped said government... Show more content on

Hitler was stirred by the nationalistic, fascist principles of the DAP and saw it as an
opportunity to cultivate many of his own fatefully infamous ideals. The DAP s name
was changed under Hitler s authority, and it is well known now that Adolf Hitlers
charisma was fundamental to the rise of the Nationalist Socialist German Workers
Party (NSDAP), later to be known as the Nazi Party. Hitler s ability to disguise his
prospects of systematic Anti Semitism and a German Aryan race as much less
sinister hopes for a strong and Nationalistic Germany was essentially what allowed
the NSDAP to effectively become such an influential political force. When in 1932
Hitler ran against Paul von Hindenburg in the German presidential elections, he lost.
Though not without leaving an impression on the German people and securing
himself as an influential political figure and later the position of Chancellor under
President Hindenburg. It was the very next year that Hitler would utilize both the

of Germany essentially turning the Reichstag into a Dictatorship at the mercy of
Hitler himself. The 24th of March 1933, the day that the Enabling Act came to pass

Overview Summary
The research report I will be discussing in this assignment is about Test Driven
Development (TDD). One of biggest and most important part of writing a software in
any programming language. It is a way developers work to reduce time on debugging
their software. TDD is one of the newest and most efficient methods for
programmers and it is having an ongoing popularity growth every year. This
assignment will be talking about, what TDD is? How it is implemented in
Information Technology (IT) environment, why testing is important and how it
can financially effect developers. We will have a closer look on the history side of
TDD, how it was created, who created it and where did the TDD method pop up
from. Also answer why use TDD when there are other methods out there? Every
good thing or way have a bad side too, so does TDD and that will be covered later
on this research report. We will compare TDD with some other methods and see
which one stands out more and what makes them so different from each other.
What is Test Driven Development?
TDD Test Driven Development is not a programme which can be run in the
computer nor an application you can download to fix and find an error with. Instead
it is a thought process from a different

The Anglo Saxon poems, The Wanderer, The Seafarer, and The Wife s Lament
The Old English, or Anglo Saxon, era of England lasted from about 450 1066 A.D.
The tribes from Germany that conquered Britain in the fifth century carried with
them both the Old English language and a detailed poetic tradition. The tradition
included alliteration, stressed and unstressed syllables, but more importantly, the
poetry was usually mournful, reflecting on suffering and loss.1These sorrowful
poems from the Anglo Saxon time period are mimetic to the Anglo Saxons
themselves; they reflect the often burdened and miserable lives and times of the
people who created them. The Anglo Saxon poems, The Wanderer, The Seafarer, and

The comitatus stressed the loyalty of a thane to his chieftain and treated exile and
outlawry as the most tragic lots that could befall one. This secular sense of loss is
keen in The Wanderer. 6 Not only is the loss of a lord evident in The Wanderer, but
in The Seafarer and The Wife s Lament as well.
The poem The Wanderer speaks of a man who has been exiled from his clan, and is
now forced to roam the land alone. Separation from his fellow kinsmen and lord
seems to be the worst fate imaginable. The man speaks of his great loss,
remembering the time when he was happy with his liege,
When friendships are no more. His fortune is exile,
Not gifts of fine gold; a heart that is frozen,
Earth s wisomeness dead. And he dreams of the hall men,
The dealing of treasure, the days of his youth,
When his lord bade welcome to wassail and feast.
But gone is that gladness, and never again
Shall come the loved counsel of comrade and king.
(II. 27 34)
The speaker of The Seafarer is also an outcast sailing the sea in solitude, and he
speaks similarly of his exile from his lord and kinsmen: Wretched and anxious, in the
paths of exile/ Lacking dear friends, hung round by icicles. (II. 14 15) He seems to
believe that if he has lost his fellow warriors and lord, or his friends,

Strategies to Reduce Energy Usage in Offices and increase IT Sustainability

Intel s studies have shown that raising employees awareness of how much power
their equipment is consuming, and getting them involved in reducing that amount, is
critical to success in reducing energy use in the office environment. We have taken
an example of the Intel Company: Intel conducted a small PoC that explored how
they could encourage behavior modification by showing employees that small
things, such as using standby mode on their laptops or turning off a printer when it
s not being used, can add up to big savings. During this PoC, they first established a
baseline of energy consumption through real time metering of energy use in 12
cubicles. In one group, they focused solely on awareness and education. Every two
to three days, Intel provided this group with information on how much energy they
were using, and how much it cost. They did not provide any other information or
requests to change behavior to the members of this group. For the second group they
installed a third party software agent that deployed and enforced power management
profiles. The profiles were set up to put the monitor into standby after ten minutes of
idle time, and to put the PC into standby after 30 minutes of idle time. After two
additional weeks of real time metering, Intel examined the energy use of the two
groups.
The Apostle Of The Deaf Essay
Louis Laurent Marie Clerc or commonly known as the Apostle of the Deaf in
America , was born December 26, 1785 in La Balme les Grottes, France. Mr. Clerc
was born in a village in the south eastern side of France; he came from a well off
middle class family that would have been considered bourgeois for his time. His
father was Joseph Francis Clerc a civil attorney for the royal family and his mother
was Marie Elizabeth Candy whose father was a notary public. Her father as well as
being an attorney also served as major of their Balme les Grottes village from 1780 to
1814[1]. Laurent Clercwas born with the ability to hear, but around the age of one,
Laurent was left unattended for a few moments and manage to climb on top of a
chair and fall onto the kitchen fireplace, badly injuring the right side of this face.
After this incident Clerc developed a fever and lost his hearing and sense of smell
[2]. He developed a scar underneath his right ear, this interestingly enough helped
create his name sign according to author Loida Canlas, His name sign derives from
the scar that remained the middle and index fingers brushed downward across the
right cheek near the mouth (Canlas) [1] ; it is believed that Laurent Clerc name sign
is one of the most iconic and recognizable name sign in American deaf culture. It is
speculated and was argued by Clerc himself, that he might have been born deaf, but
that it was only discovered after the accident and attributed to it [1]. When Clerc

Essay On True Friend

  • 1. Essay On True Friend Crafting an essay on the subject of a "True Friend" is, without a doubt, a task that delves into the complexities of human relationships and emotions. The challenge lies not only in defining the elusive concept of true friendship but also in capturing its essence through words. Friendship, being a subjective and deeply personal experience, is not easily confined to a set of predetermined rules or parameters. Therefore, one must navigate through the vast landscape of emotions, experiences, and values to paint a comprehensive picture of what constitutes a genuine and lasting connection between individuals. The difficulty intensifies when attempting to articulate the intangible qualities that define a true friend. It requires delving into the intricacies of trust, loyalty, understanding, and mutual support – abstract notions that demand careful consideration and thoughtful analysis. The risk of oversimplification or generalization looms large, as each friendship is unique, shaped by the personalities, histories, and shared moments of the individuals involved. Furthermore, the writer must tread the fine line between sentimentality and objectivity. While it is essential to convey the emotional depth and significance of true friendship, an essay should also maintain a level of intellectual rigor. Striking the right balance between heart and mind is no easy feat, as emotions often threaten to overpower reason, and vice versa. In essence, writing an essay on true friendship demands a nuanced understanding of human connections, adept storytelling skills, and the ability to navigate the complexities of emotions. It requires the writer to reflect deeply on personal experiences, societal expectations, and philosophical perspectives on friendship. The challenge lies not only in expressing one's thoughts coherently but also in resonating with the diverse experiences and perspectives of the readers. In conclusion, crafting an essay on the topic of true friendship is a task that involves navigating the intricate web of human emotions, experiences, and values. It demands a delicate balance between the personal and the universal, the emotional and the intellectual. However, with careful consideration and a thoughtful approach, one can unravel the layers of this profound human connection and present a compelling narrative. • 2. Lord of the Flies, by William Golding Jack Merridew is an ordinary boy who turns into a perfect savage. Jack is the leader to a group of boys called the choir. In the beginning of the novel, we see the choir as a creature in the distance. When they arrive Jack acts almost like a military sergeant shouting orders at them. The way Jack treats them brings to mind of an army of authority and arrogance. With Jack so used to being in charge, when Ralph is elected leader his face has a blush of mortification, and doesn t like the decision. Jack is arrogant as when he is introduced to Ralph he insists that he is called by his first name Merridew . Ralph is fair haired and he, at the end, has the most sense of decency whereas Jack is red haired. The connotation of red could... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The boys carried on collecting firewood and bathing, without worrying about the events the previous night. Piggy was the strongest in mind yet weakest in body, so he was the person that would fall victim to bullying. When Simon died, he tries to avoid bringing the incident up. When Ralph brought up the incident Piggy denied that it was on purpose, but just a mere accident. The significance of this death was that when he died, it brought the boys from civilised to savage, as they ceased to see the difference between a fellow human and an animal (the beast). Another significant event is the death of Piggy. He died from trying to talk some sense into the opposing tribe. Piggy, on the island was the adult inside all of them; he is a logical, intelligent and a rational thinker. His name Piggy makes the reader think of a boy who is not very fit and lonely. When Piggy died talking sense to Jack, without any remorse Roger crushed his skull with a boulder. The significance of Piggy s death was that he was the only one left on Ralph s side so when he died, it left Ralph alone. Also, Piggy was holding the conch at the time so when the conch shattered, it represented the loss of rational thinking, civilisation and the start of savagery and the end of kindness, morality and self respect. Golding describes the deaths of Piggy and Simon in two very different ways. Simon s death is described over two pages and

The answer is yes. For a few decades now hundreds of researchers have take time to research the relationship of media images and video games to violent behavior in children. In the next few paragraphs I will discuss why media images and video games result in violent behavior in children. This paper will also provide some important factors that adults should know about media images and video game violence. It has been researched that media images and video games can be harmful and damaging to children s minds. Most children watch 21 23 hours of television per week (Media Violence 1). Within the 21 23... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I am a true believer that media and video game violence has a great affect on children. There have been real life examples that depict violence acts due to media images and video games. A great example of all of this would be the Columbine High School, shooting. This act of violence occurred on April 20, 1999 when two heavily armed boys walked into the Columbine High School in Colorado and shot to death 12 of their fellow classmates and a teacher before they turn the violent act on themselves. When the Columbine case was investigated, authorities came to find out that the boys spent numerous of hours playing a video game called First Person Shooter . Apparently the boys modified this video game to look like the layout of Columbine High School, using copied yearbook pictures of fellow students as the shooting target. I am a strong believer that this video game had a powerful connection to the Columbine shooters act of violence. I believe that the Columbine shooters were brainwashed as they played First Person Shooter (video game). This realistic video game encouraged the two shooters to take the violence to school just like they played for numerous of hours. Another perfect example of violent media images

  • 5. The Uniqueness Of The Kodaly Method Chapter One The Uniqueness of the Kodaly Method Zoltan Kodaly chose a child developmental approach when developing his method. This approach teaches skills in the order and pace in which the child develops rather than subject logic. In a subject logic approach there is no relationship between the order of presentation and the order in which children learn easily. The subject matter is simply organized in a fashion that seems reasonable in terms of content. The subject logic approach rhythmically begins with the whole note and progresses in a manner that is mathematically reasonable, proceeding next to the half note and then to the quarter note. This progression is, however, very difficult for a beginning student who has not yet even learned how to feel a basic beat. Melodically speaking, the diatonic major scale is the general starting point from a subject logic approach. This also causes issues because the average young child cannot accurately sing a diatonic major scale. According to research, most children are able to sing a range of only five or six tones and cannot produce half steps in tune. Unlike the subject logic approach, the child development approach of the Kodaly method requires arranging subject matter into patterns that align with the sequence of normal child abilities at various stages of growth. Rhythmically speaking, moving rhythms are more child related than sustained rhythms. Children can relate a rhythm such as steady beat quarter

In order to perform this transformation naturally a bacterium must considered competent, otherwise it must undergo an artificial transformation. Being a competent cell means that the bacteria can take up DNA from its environment naturally (5). Those that are not competent such as Escherichia colithat are not naturally competent can be tested with an artificial transformation, such as what we will use in this experiment. Methods used can obtain things such as chemical mutagens or radiation (1). The gene used for the transfer is the GFP gene (Green Fluorescent Protein), which gives an illuminating appearance under a UV light when conducted properly,... The difference between natural and artificial gene transformation in a bacteria, however, with those who are incompetent versus competent allow he or she to conduct an experiment with artificial transformation. By doing this one may be able to determine and observe the formation of biofilms or mutations by transferring a gene to another organism for beneficial or harmful purpose. This could lead to finding resistants or if a gene introduced has any effect on the bacteria. In the experiment, the pGLO plasmid contained encodes the gene for GFP as well as a gene for resistance to an antibiotic allowing a transformation to take place when adding a carbohydrate such as arabinose to the medium. Research has been found on the horizontal gene transfer on how virulence factors are acquired as well as genes resistant to antibiotics spread with microorganisms (5). By conducting a similar experiment he or she can observe similar findings or observe the results and conduct some sort of understanding of these ideas. The findings in this experiment are to show a positive result in what causes growth and the glowing when the plasmid pGLO is added to the positive as well as the difference in the medium. The plot basically concerns Cora s and Alice s arrival in the colonies. They are escorted by British soldiers but are ambushed by a war party of Huron Indians. First of all, whatever is depicted by the media can provide a lasting and pervasive impression. Huron Indians were generally peaceful people. Furthermore, while the Huron fought regularly with the Iroquois, they did not indiscriminately attack groups of people. Many of the Indians in the film actually are white actors. The character of Hawkeye is confusing culturally since he is a white trapper who was raised by the Mohicans. He saves Cora from being killed by the leader of the Huron war party. Cora and Hawkeye fall in love. The canoes and weapons used in the film were constructed in the traditional Indian way. The character of Chingachgook is played by a Native American Indian and activist. Both Indians and whites participate peacefully in a lacrosse game. At the same time, the film portrays Indians and whites as equals and mingling as a group. The fact is that in the colonialist context that historically shaped settler discourse, indigenous populations were routinely defined as a problem people in need of control. The movie does not give and indication of the relations of superiority and dominance on the part of

Although most of these emails contain little information of importance, 65 are being withheld by the government because they include classified information (Atlantic). While this may seem like a trivial fact, it is quite the opposite. In fact, Hillary s actions could potentially break four federal laws. The first is the Federal Records Act, which requires agencies to keep their official communications, including work related emails. Knowingly deleting emails, the same way Hillary did, can result in a fine or one year in prison. The second law is the Freedom of Information Act, which ensures public access to agency records and information. This information is supposed to be presented in a timely manner. However, Mrs. Clinton only presented 55,000 pages of her emails that she declared relevant . Of course, if she had something to hide in those emails, she would not have made those public. How then do we trust that she was honest in the bring forth of these documents? The third law are the regulations regarding the National Archives. These regulations require information to be readily found when they are needed (NPR). When Hillary was first questioned about her private server, she declared that there were no classified emails

All other types must be converted into one of these fields before getting saved in the database. Programs that want to access the database communicate with the server using some kind of interprocess communication (typically TCP/IP) to send requests to the server and to receive back results. SQLite does not work this way. With SQLite, the process that wants to access the database reads and writes directly from the database files on disk. There is no intermediary server process. There are advantages and disadvantages to being server less. The main advantage is that there is no separate server process to install, setup, configure, initialize, manage, and troubleshoot. This is one reason why SQLite is a zero configuration database engine. Programs that use SQLite require no administrative support for setting up the database engine before they are run. Any program that is able to access the disk is able to use an SQLite database. On the other hand, a database engine that uses a server can provide better protection from bugs in the client application stray pointers in a client cannot corrupt memory on the server. And because a server is a single persistent process, it is able control database access with more precision, allowing for finer grain locking and better concurrency. Most SQL database engines are

Many orcas that are held in captivity have problems with their teeth and they have to have their teeth drilled. All captive adult male orcas have collapsed dorsal fins, likely because they have no space in which to swim freely and are fed an unnatural diet of thawed dead fish (8 Reasons). Some killer whales also develop infections and the whales are not healthy because they are not fed a healthy diet like they would eat in the ocean. Captive orcinus orcas live in a relatively small space compared to their natural habitat. An orca would have to swim back and forth in it s tank many times each day to equal the amount of miles it would swim in the ocean daily. Captivity is, in essence, poor habitat for orcas, causing early death (Captivity). Due to all the problems with killer whales being held in captivity, the whales experience a much shorter lifespan in captivity compared to their lifespan in the wild. Also all whales that have been held in captivity cannot be released back into their natural habitat because they may not be able to find their pod and they will not have the skills needed to survive. Although there are many problems, there are also many solutions to save the killer whales that
  • 20. Wedding Speech By The Maid Of Honor And The Best Man For every person that exists, there is at least one other person with whom they will laugh with, love with, and live life with. These are the people who will support the decisions you make, encourage you to keep going after massive failures and love you despite all your flaws. We cherish the relationships we built and the friendships we have because there s nothing more valuable than having your best friend s presence through each decision made, through each important event, through each step you take in life. Without friends, we would be alone. The devotion and loyalty between two friends are shown through real life interactions. However, written words can also show how much two friends care for one another. Text messages and wedding speeches may seem to have no connection to each other, but through content, tone and specific conventions, both genres reveal how close two people are. A wedding speech is usually given by the maid of honor and the best man. These two positions hold special meaning because it is meant to be given by someone whom the bride and groom cherish and love. To be given the position of maid of honor or best man already shows how much love and respect the bride or groom has for their friend. Wedding speeches, in return, show how much love and respect the maid of honor or best man holds for their friend. Because wedding speeches are written by close friends, the content in the speech, oftentimes, make it touching and emotional. Most commonly, the

When he arrives he finds that this world is very different from his own. Saddened and angered by the injustice of the society, he attempts to isolate himself from the world. John the Savage s experience of being exiled from Malpais was enriching in that it showed him the true nature of the Other Place and alienating in that he was separated from his culture and not able to integrate into the new one. This illuminates the meaning of the work in that it shows the negative side of the utopian society. Don t you even understand what manhood and freedom are? (Huxley 212 213) This quote shows how he became aware of the injustice of the system. His discovery of the true nature of the Other Place was an enriching experience. It allowed him to no longer wonder about what the outside world was like and to no longer hold an idea in high regard that was not worthy of it. The truth is better than the lie and in learning the truth, John was enriched by his experience of being cut off from his homeland. John the Savage s exile from his homeland was alienating in that it separated him from his culture and he was not able to integrate into the new one. John the Savage grew up in a society with very different views from that of the society in London. It was very difficult for him to not be around other people who shared similar ideas with him. This is exemplified by the quote ... Listen, Lenina; in Malpais people get married. Get what? The irritation had begun to creep back into her voice. What was he talking about now? For always. They make a promise to live together for always. What a horrible idea! Lenina was genuinely shocked. (Huxley 191) He was unable to connect with anyone on a deep level because of this intrinsic difference between them. Therefore, this experience was alienating for him because he was set apart from the rest of the society. The experience was so alienating that John the Savage removed himself from the society around him. I shall go away
  • 22. Persuasive Essay On Ocean Pollution Throughout many decades there has been a huge environmental problem, not only putting marine life at risk but also human health. Ocean pollution is a big threat to the habitat and still today we haven t stopped throwing trash, chemicals or toxins into the oceans. During the 1940 s, a technical service of the Army dumped a lot of chemical warfare into the sea, believing the type of gas will dissolve in the water becoming harmless in minutes. At that time, fishermen were able to catch a lot of fish, it wasn t until they were out of luck and all they could see were dead fish floating on the surface. Many people think that oil spills and trash are the only types of ocean pollution, but they re also forgetting about chemical, bacterial and thermal pollution. Polluted seas can be the cause of many diseases or infections, especially if people don t take big measures like telling their kids not to accidentally drink water from rivers or lakes when swimming. Marine animals are a big part of our food chain if they carry diseases or toxins we re also in big danger. Today, there have been many people who have been trying to stop others from polluting the oceans, but they still haven t been able to convince the whole world to end ocean pollution. The government, instead of wasting money on unnecessary things like building walls or building more towers and creating more trash they should build trash contractors that will help with the trash floating around in the seas. Notes On Twins And Nature Vs Nurture Darian Rader Kelly Fielding August 21, 2014 Psychology 101 Twins and Nature versus Nurture What makes identical or fraternal twins different from each other? A few people might say it depends on how their parents raised them, others might say that other forces such as what traits personality wise, they inherited from their family could have an effect on their way they are. This in so many words in called Nature versus Nurture. This is an interesting concept, especially involving twins and their behaviors, because they have the same DNA and studies might show better results rather than using regular siblings, with different genes versus twins who have the same exact DNA. From my personal experience as an identical twin, my sister Alexandra and I were raised together our entire lives and we would do anything to be different from each other. If she cut her hair I would grow mine out, etcetera. Our personalities are very different as well, we had the same group of friends, but we had hardly any classes together in idle school and high school. I was into sports such as cross country, tennis and track, Alex was into her art classes and liked to make people laugh. There was another set of twins in our high school so similar to each other that their names were even Brittani and Brandi. They had the same style of clothing, hairstyles and didn t do a lot of extracurricular activities. This is out of the norm for twin studies because their parents both raised them together. So what

It shines a new light on battle that has never been documented before. All Quiet on the Western Frontis a coming of age book that teaches you many valuable things. Remarque s All Quiet On The Western Front had many great lessons, one of the greatest ones was the theme of comradeship. During his time on the front, Paul and his buddies formed a bond with each other that could not be broken. This is clear when Paul states that they are the strongest, most comforting thing there is anywhere: they are the voices of my comrades. (Remarque 212) In this line, Paul expresses his compassion and respect, he has for his comrades. Paul s thought process encourages the idea that his friends help him get through each day, That during his hardest times, his friends voices help him push through it. When Paul was going through an internal battle, his comrades talked to him and helped him work it out. For example, when Paul finally lets his frustrations out to his friends he listens to them and feels comforted, reassured by their presence. (Remarque, 228) The theme of comradeship is being able to forge connections with other soldiers.

A molecular marker may be a short DNA sequence such as a sequence surrounding a single base pair change like single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) or a long one like minisatellites (Jeffreys et al., 1985) and microsatellites (Jarne and Lagoda, 1996). That leads to the development of a new type of marker that is single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) (He et al., 2003). However, AFLP markers are devoid of dense marker maps, so still used for QTL mapping and genetic diversity studies in species (Nicholas, 1997; Van Haeringen et al., 2001). With time the RFLPs was replaced by microsatellites for building genetic maps in human and animal species. Factor responsible for development of microsatellites are firstly, at a single microsatellite locus large number of alleles are found thereby, developing a high heterozygosity values enabling to reduce the number of reference families to be used for building the map and secondly, the possibility to perform genotypes by simple PCR followed by allele sizing on polyacrylamide gels (Dinesh et al., 1995). Some points should be taken into consideration when using molecular markers for genetic studies. As for molecular biologists the genotyping procedure should be simple and cheap in order to generate the vast amount of genotyping data as often necessary. From the statistician s angle some characteristics are most important like the dominance relationships, information content, neutrality, map positions or genetic

Central Retinal Vein Occlusion Central Retinal Vein Occlusion, Adult Central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) is a blockage (occlusion) in the main (central) vein that drains blood away from a layer of tissue at the back of your eye (retina). The retina is the layer of nerve cells in the back of the eye that senses light and sends signals to the brain for vision. When you have CRVO, a blood clot forms inside your central retinal vein. This can happen suddenly or gradually. The clot causes blood and fluid to leak out of the central retinal vein. The blood and fluid collect in the central area of your retina (macula). This causes vision loss or blurred vision in the affected eye. The blurriness or loss of vision may be complete or partial. Partial loss may get worse over hours or days. CAUSES ... It is for these villagers that we need to make sure we build a system that delivers basic social infrastructure in an effective manner. In order to ensure that the fruits of India s progress are shared by all sections of the society, the government has identified several elements of social and economic infrastructure, critical to the quality of life in rural areas. Its rising middle class demands more than just bread. Food and agricultural operators based in India and abroad are responding to the country s demands with an array of high quality food products that contribute to India s increasing nutritional requirements and add value to India s agricultural supply chain. However even today there are disparities of development between the rural and the urban sector. In spite of planning, however, the regional disparity remained a serious problem in India. A new controversy in this respect is whether growth rates and standard of living in different regions would eventually converge or not. The convergence postulates that when the growth rate of an economy accelerates, initially some regions with better resources would grow faster than others. But after sometime, when the law of diminishing marginal returns set in, first growth rates would converge, due to differential marginal productivity of capital (higher in poorer regions and lower in

  • 40. Farewell To Arms Rain The Negative Connotation of Rain Rain brings life to the earth, ending drought and watering crops. However, Ernest Hemingway uses rain as a much more negative symbol in A Farewell to Arms. In the first chapter of the novel, rain is immediately established as a sign of bad things to come. Then, it is raining right before Henry s friend warns him that the Italian police are coming to arrest him. Thirdly, raincomes in at the end of the novel at the same time that Catherine is close to giving birth, foreshadowing that something bad will happen to her. From these three points, it is clear that Hemingway portrays rain as a symbol that foreshadows negative events in Henry s life. Firstly, rain is subtly established in the first chapter as the cause... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After spending some months in their snowy cabin in Switzerland, Catherine is finally just a month away from labour. The decision is made when the rain comes: Let s see how the weather turns out. It rained for three days. The snow was all gone now on the mountain side below the station. The road was a torrent of muddy snow water. It was too wet and slushy to go out. On the morning of the third day of rain we decided to go into town. (Hemingway 263). The rain is what causes them to move into the town where Catherine dies in labour. Also, the description of the rain being so miserable gives a very melancholy feeling to the reader. Henry mentions that the rain prevented them from going out, reinforcing that rain has a direct negative effect on their lives. In the article A Farewell to Arms, Keith Neilson further expands on Hemingway s use of rain: Hemingway associates the plains and rain with death, disease, and sorrow; the mountains and the snow with life, health, and happiness. Catherine and Henry are safe and happy in the mountains, but it is impossible to remain there indefinitely. [...] When Catherine and Henry descend to the city, it is, in fact, raining, and she does, in fact, die. (Neilson 3). This further shows the rain s foreshadowing of negative events because of how it coincides with Henry and Catherine moving to the city. Also, there are other natural symbols such as the snow, mountains, and plains that act with and against rain. Since this shift to rainy weather coincides with Catherine being a month away from going into labour, it foreshadows her and their daughter s death at the end of the novel. In summary, rain foreshadows Catherine s death when it coincides with Catherine being close to
  • 41. Immanuel Wallerstein s World Systems Theory Two theories of Globalisation that explain it relatively effectively are Immanuel Wallerstein s World Systems theory and John W. Meyer s World Polity Theory. Contrary to the tendency of classical sociologists to focus on society within the nation state, World systems theory portrays nation states as units within the larger world system. Wallerstein described the world System as an international class system based on countries as units instead of individual people. He thought there are three main categories of countries, the core, semi periphery and periphery. The Core countries have much greater control over the means of production and capital and are thus much wealthier, whilst the periphery counrtries are exploited for their resources and cheap labour. Such a system perpetuates socio economic inequality, however the system is somewhat dynamic and states can gradually shift between categories. This system allows certain countries to achieve hegemony over the others, in this manner the United Statesdominated the globe in the 20th Century. World Polity theory was developed in response to the world systems theory. In this explanation the world has a global culture or global polity that greatly influences how nation states, international organisations and individual people are formed and evolve. The global polity helps define the purpose, identity, behaviour and nature of these social units. The concept of a nation state itself is only a relatively new concept introduced

The Origins and Developments of Electronic Dance Music (EDM) and Contemporary Nightlife Musical Culture The origins and developments of Electronic Dance Music initially started with the development of the synthesizer. It was with these first uses of synthesized sounds that prompted the development of sequencers, sampling, effects processing, musical instrument digital interface (MIDI), use of computer technology, hard disk recording systems and modern day virtual studio technology (VST s). These all fundamentally build the genre of electronic music, as we know it today. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the time, British inventor, Peter Zinovieff and American Composer, Raymond Scott were both looking into basic electronic sequencing, however it was Buchla that had the initial breakthrough. Before then, artists were manually cutting up and splicing tape together to achieve sequences and Buchla found an electronic alternative and soon developed his electronic sequencer. This meant that artists would no longer need to go through the time consuming process of cutting up tape for sequencing. Buchla said, you could simply take my sequencer and set the time and the pitch for each interval. So that required, of course, a voltage controlled oscillator, and from then it led to a bunch of other ideas (Pinch, 2004, p.40). It was after the moog synthesizer that companies and inventors, much like Buchla, had started to look at other ways of evolving electronics into music. The Minimoog was a monophonic instrument, and instruments like the APR odyssey were soon after introduced that allowed duophony possible on synthesizers. The APR odyssey mk I was released in 1972, and was an aesthetically pleasing duophonic synthesizer, making it easy for a performer to tweak the parameters of the synthesized sound with sliders. By the mid 1970 s, well known companies like Sequential Circuits and Yamaha had developed more advanced keyboard matrices, allowing polyphony to be introduced to the electronic music scene. One

Thought the VotingRights Act of 1965 would have ideally rid America of these obstacles by this point, vestiges of the manipulation remain. Now, congressional districts follow no reasonable pattern or logic; districts within states vary drastically in terms of size, shape, and similarity of socio economic diversity. Parties controlling state legislatures have the most say in the mapping of Congressional districts, and consequently try to draw districts up in ways that insulate incumbents. They draw district lines to maximize the number of seats they can win, usually by concentrating opposition voters into the same districts. This leads to a guaranteed loss in those districts, but allows the ruling party to win the vast majority of other districts by tight, but secure margins. The wider the margin of victory at the national level, the more dangerous gerrymandering becomes to Congressional districts. This was true of the elections of 1974 (Democrats picked up 49 House seats and 4 in the Senate in the wake of Watergate), 1994 (When Republicans gained 54 House and 10 Senate seats during the Gingrich Revolution ), and 2006 (When Democrats won 31 House and six Senate seats). For example, in 2010, Republicans scored a sweeping victory in the House. They ended up controlling redistricting procedures for eighteen states, compared to Democrats six. Republicans then exploited this opportunity to shore up some of their marginal districts by adding in favorable voters to weakening districts. The effects shine clearly: in 2012, only

The controversy began as early as 1976, when protestors destroyed an arcade game that revolved around hitting human like creatures with a car. As computers grew more advanced in the next two decades, video game violence became increasingly realistic ( Background of the Issue ). This prompted the creation of the Entertainment Software Rating Board, commonly abbreviated ESRB, in 1994 for parents to make informed decisions regarding the content their children were exposed to. The 1999 shooting at Columbine High School fueled the debate further, drawing potential connections between virtual violence and real world consequences ( Background of the Issue ). In the years following, laws regarding the sale of video games with graphic violence sprouted up across the nation. Even the Supreme Court was involved ( Background of the Issue ). Today, as many as 97% of US kids age 12 17 play video games, contributing to the $21.53 billion domestic video gameindustry ( Violent Video Games ). Critics of video game violence argue that it directly increases a person s violent behavior and lowers their tendency to act for the benefit of others. Defenders of video game violence argue that media coverage of video game violence is heavily biased, studies that link it to acts of violence are flawed, and that video game violence is a harmless outlet for emotions of aggression. Critics of violence in video games believe that it increases an adolescent s tendency toward violent actions. Multiple credible organizations also view playing violent video games as a statistical detail affecting a person s aggressive tendency. Over 98% of American pediatricians say that children and teens become more aggressive when exposed to violent media such as a violent video game ( Violent Video Games ). The FBI uses an individual s violent video game history to assess the risk of a school shooting threat. The American Psychological Association cites frequent violent video game exposure as a risk factor that contributes to violence in teens ( Violent Video Games ). Some groups that are against video game violence go as far as to list it as a primary cause

However, it would be the combination of the rise of the Deutsche Arbeiterpartei and the timely occurrence of the Great Depression that would ultimately prove too devastating for the Weimar Republicto survive. By September of 1918 General Ludendorff proposed a new democratic government in response to Germany s looming defeat in the First World War. One of biggest and most important part of writing a software in any programming language. It is a way developers work to reduce time on debugging their software. TDD is one of the newest and most efficient methods for programmers and it is having an ongoing popularity growth every year. This assignment will be talking about, what TDD is? How it is implemented in Information Technology (IT) environment, why testing is important and how it can financially effect developers. We will have a closer look on the history side of TDD, how it was created, who created it and where did the TDD method pop up from. Also answer why use TDD when there are other methods out there? Every good thing or way have a bad side too, so does TDD and that will be covered later on this research report. We will compare TDD with some other methods and see which one stands out more and what makes them so different from each other. What is Test Driven Development? TDD Test Driven Development is not a programme which can be run in the computer nor an application you can download to fix and find an error with. Instead it is a thought process from a different

Intel s studies have shown that raising employees awareness of how much power their equipment is consuming, and getting them involved in reducing that amount, is critical to success in reducing energy use in the office environment. We have taken an example of the Intel Company: Intel conducted a small PoC that explored how they could encourage behavior modification by showing employees that small things, such as using standby mode on their laptops or turning off a printer when it s not being used, can add up to big savings. During this PoC, they first established a baseline of energy consumption through real time metering of energy use in 12 cubicles. In one group, they focused solely on awareness and education. Every two to three days, Intel provided this group with information on how much energy they were using, and how much it cost. They did not provide any other information or requests to change behavior to the members of this group. For the second group they installed a third party software agent that deployed and enforced power management profiles. The profiles were set up to put the monitor into standby after ten minutes of idle time, and to put the PC into standby after 30 minutes of idle time. After two additional weeks of real time metering, Intel examined the energy use of the two groups.

Mr. Clerc was born in a village in the south eastern side of France; he came from a well off middle class family that would have been considered bourgeois for his time. His father was Joseph Francis Clerc a civil attorney for the royal family and his mother was Marie Elizabeth Candy whose father was a notary public. Her father as well as being an attorney also served as major of their Balme les Grottes village from 1780 to 1814[1]. Laurent Clercwas born with the ability to hear, but around the age of one, Laurent was left unattended for a few moments and manage to climb on top of a chair and fall onto the kitchen fireplace, badly injuring the right side of this face. After this incident Clerc developed a fever and lost his hearing and sense of smell [2]. He developed a scar underneath his right ear, this interestingly enough helped create his name sign according to author Loida Canlas, His name sign derives from the scar that remained the middle and index fingers brushed downward across the right cheek near the mouth (Canlas) [1] ; it is believed that Laurent Clerc name sign is one of the most iconic and recognizable name sign in American deaf culture.
