The Craft By Nokia
The Craft
Princess Nokia stated in Brujas I m a black Native American I vanquish all evil. She did this to carve
out a space for her native identity. Contending that in every way the process of Western Civilization
commits genocide toward all living things militant Indian rhetors blatantly reject assimilation into
white society, advocating instead a return to traditional tribal values (Lake 732 1983). She did this by
embracing her native religion of witchcraft. Furthermore, she emphasized that a return to traditional
witchcraft would better society. She did this by recreating The Craft in her music video.
The most obvious recreation was that of the forest scene of The Craft. She altered the perspective of
the coven though the way that the knife was portrayed. In The Craft the knife was represented as a
killing instrument. The women were asked if they had any fear to rush upon the blade rather than join
the coven. In their perspective only strong witches would be allowed into the coven. Princess Nokia s
altered that the meaning of the knife to be seen as honor. The blade moves from shoulder to shoulder
as if dubbing them into a new title. She did this in order to change emotion and persuaded the viewer
to look at this ritual in a different way. It shifted the perception of being in a coven as something
dangerous to something that builds power and community. She also stated I aint no queen of the night

Light In The Forest Johnny Tremain Analysis
Compare and Contrast Essay Rough Draft The Light in the Forest, by Conrad Richter, and Johnny
Tremain, by Esther Forbes, are two incredibly distinct novels, each with their own similarities and
differences when compared to one another. True Son, the protagonist in Light in the Forest, is a fifteen
year old boy raised by a tribe of Delaware Indians for the past eleven years of his life. Though he is
biologically American, he wholeheartedly considers himself a full blooded Indian. This not only
creates turmoil when he is forcibly moved to his biological white family but causes True Son
confusion when he is forced to choose between not only his two families but his two other identities as
well. On the other hand, Johnny Tremain, the protagonist in the novel Johnny Tremain, faces a
completely different situation for he is a fourteen year old boy living in colonial Boston. He is at first
entirely self centered and arrogant due to his prodigious gifts as a silversmith apprentice. However,
when an unfortunate injury results in him having a crippled hand, this destroys any chance of him
being an adequate silversmith. He faces humiliation but through many struggles and difficulties
transforms into a patriotic man. Through analyzing the two novels, there were many similarities and
differences found. Similarities include the difficult journey they both encounter as well as their similar
behavior. On the contrary, both individuals differ through their race and how they were brought up.
Both True Son and Johnny Tremain desire to stay in a comfortable setting. They greatly enjoy their
life and make no wish to change it. And yet, both characters were forced to face hardships which
ultimately changes both their situation as well as their perspectives in life. For instance, Johnny
Tremain had a comfortable position in life. He was widely considered the most talented young
silversmith in Boston. Though he was egotistic, he was destined for a bright future. Regrettably, when
molten silver disfigured his hand he lost his chance at ever becoming a silversmith and can no longer
find skilled work. Filled with self pity and despair, he almost turns to a life of crime. Only his
friendships and new job with a Whig newspaper company

The United States Healthcare System Is One Of The Most
The United States healthcare system is one of the most complex systems around the globe. Healthcare
system in the United States is the combination of four prevalent models that are used by the rest of the
world. Majority of the industrial countries use a single payer system and very few countries use a
multiple payer system, the United States uses a very complex multiple payer system. The four
healthcare models that the United States uses are the Beveridge model, the Bismarck model, the
national health insurance model and the out of pocket model. The Beveridge model is mainly used in
the United Kingdom and is solely financed by the government through tax payments. The Bismarck

Government insurance is divided into four different types Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, and VA.
Medicare is government program that covers individuals 65 and older and disabled. Medicare is single
payer program paid only by the government (Ping Chua, 2006). Medicare is financed by payroll tax,
federal income tax and premiums from individuals enrolled in part C and D. Medicaid is a government
program designed for low income families whose income is 138% or $16,000 annually per individual,
and disabled. However, only the 32 states that chose to expand Medicaid are providing Medicaid for
their residents (Kaiser Family Foundation, 2015). Medicaid is financed by both the federal and state.
CHIP is a government program that was created to cover children whose families don t qualify for
Medicaid and are too poor to purchase private health coverage on their own. CHIP was also designed
to cover pregnant women (Ping Chua, 2006). The federal and state government also finance the CHIP
program. Lastly VA, which is Veteran s Administration, is a federally administered program for
veterans. The federal government through payroll finances this type of government insurance (Ping
Chua, 2006).
The way that the private health insurance companies work is very complicated. The second payer that
finances U.S healthcare system is the private health insurance, and it consists of employer sponsored
insurance and private non group (individual market) (Ping Chua, 2006). The employer

Can A Witness Be Made To Judge Essay
Can A Witness Be Made To Testify In Your Court Case?
Having a witness on your side could be the key to helping you win your court case. The problem is
that the witness could refuse to go to court to help you out. Your lawyer can try to compel the witness
to testify on your behalf, but there are some situations that can excuse the witness from doing so.
Why A Witness Can Choose Not To Testify
Calling on a witness in court involves issuing that person a subpoena. It requires them to show up to
court with a possible criminal and civil penalty if they decide not to. Once they are in court, the
witness can request that they are excused from giving a testimony.
Testimony That Is Self Incriminating
It s possible that the testimony would be self incriminating, which would result in them being charged
with a crime if they testified for you. The witness has the right to be excused thanks to the protections

Testimony From Someone With Diplomatic Immunity
While someone with diplomatic immunity can testify if they choose to, they also have protection that
can allow them to not testify.
Anybody who does not fall into these categories will need to show up to court to testify.

Analysis Of David Hume s An Inquiry Concerning Human...
In the very last paragraph of An Inquiry Concerning Human Understanding, Hume states, When we
run over libraries, persuaded of these principles, what havoc must we make? If we take in our hand
any volume; of divinity or school metaphysics, for instance; let us ask, Does it contain any abstract
reasoning concerning quantity or number? No. Does it contain any experimental reasoning concerning
matter of fact and existence? No. Commit it then to the flames: for it can contain nothing but sophistry
and illusion. (1) In other words, what Hume is expressing to us is that unless we can provide empirical
evidence to validate our arguments, we are not actually making a statement of substance, and thus
should disregard that idea. It is a waste of time to explore outside the limits of reason relations of ideas
and matters of fact, because those questions ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Corvallis School Schedule
When asked if the Corvallis school district should change their schedule to a full year schedule with
each core class being in each quarter, there is immediate pros and cons that come to mind. Longer
breaks, being done faster with a class, all sound intriguing but you have to really think it through and
put yourself in all the students and faculty s shoes and have to make the decision of, if the new
schedule works for everyone. When you first hear about the schedule and look at its outline, it sounds
pretty solid. More breaks, longer breaks, and the main idea of getting done with core classes faster.
For a student, hearing that sounds pretty good. For example if a student doesn t lie one of the core
classes then they would only have to put up with it for one quarter. ... Show more content on

A bunch of students at Corvallis come from farm and ranching houses. Their parents rely on having
their child home to help with various chores. Whether it be for irrigating or helping with the crop or
helping with the livestock. All of these are not a one person job, they all require help and most of the
time the help is their kid. If there was a school schedule that went into the summer, the kids with
parents who need their help would be left two options: try to do all the work by themselves, which
takes money, or hire someone to help out, which takes money. In a town like Corvallis, Montana that
schedule doesn t work with a lot of people.
Students already have a tough time with school work. Some kids struggle a lot with certain subjects.
Cramming in one full school year of work into only one quarter could be awful to students. Looking at
the school year that Corvallis has now, students cover lots of material throughout the year. Even then,
there are times when the school work gets overloaded. Trying to fit all the material into only one

IKEA has also used extensive manual work in its planning processes and the planning was based on
fragmented and unreliable Planning information. Hence, there was a lack of trust between different
parts of the supply chain, which even further have enhanced the bullwhip effects in the IKEA supply
chain. Other problems related to the supply chain performance was difficulties to get enough attention
of data maintenance, the lack of proper follow up tools to monitor forecast deviations, hard to change
mindsets among users, no synchronization of order and stock data, to name but a few. To overcome
the difficult situation, IKEA initiated a program (cluster of projects) aiming to taking better control of
its supply chain, and enhance performance in terms of delivery service and costs. A new global
planning concept was developed and is currently being implemented. Its cornerstones are mutually
integrated planning processes, a centralized planning organization, focus on data quality and use of

An Analysis Of Ernest J. Gaines A Lesson Before Dying
A Lesson before Dying by Ernest J. Gaines (1993) is a compelling novel based in a small southern
town of Louisiana during the 1940 s, 80 years after slavery is abolished. Gaines storytelling is highly
effective due to his use of high stake plot elements, vivid first person narration, and intriguing
repetition. More specifically the plot elements of the bar fight and the execution date, the narration of
the opening scene and the ongoing dialogue caused by the brawl in the bar, as well as the repetition of
many thought provoking phrases.
Gaines use of high stake plot elements crafts a captivating storyline that grasps the attention to any
reader. An example of this is when; Grant is at a bar when he catches a few of words of the people
sitting ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, from the very first line of the opening scene of the novel, I was not there, yet I was there.
(7) Gaines instantly sets a confusing beginning, which acts as a diversionary tactic to grab the
attention of the reader off the bat. Also, Gaines gives the reader a sense of how prevalent a wrongfully
convicted black person put on the death row is during the 1940 s. Gaines shows that Grant already
knows the outcome of the trial although he is not there, as it is a common case. Furthermore, for most
of chapter 26 of the novel, Gaines converts the story into complete and utter dialogue between the
narrator who is the protagonist, and his love interest, Vivian. Grant gets into a bar fight and becomes
unconscious, and at the very beginning of the chapter 26 screams, WHAT HAPPENED? (165).
Because Grant has been unconscious, Gaines writes only in dialogue as Grant is distorted and in
shock. Gaines displays the fact that Grant is not describing anything around him, nor noticing minute
details as before. First person narration allows readers to create personal connections, whereas third
person narration would not be as particularly personal. Gaines successfully allows for the readers to
feel the emotions of Grant Wiggins, which in turn makes the protagonist come alive, and the readers
ultimately learn more about the character and the world in which

Major Depressive Disorders Paper
Depression is defined as an alteration in mood that is expressed by feelings of sadness, despair, or
pessimism (Neeb s, 397). There are seven types of depressive disorders which are major depressive
disorder, dysthymic disorder, postpartum depression, major depressive disorder with seasonal pattern,
substance induced depressive disorder, depressive disorder associated with another medical condition,
and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. Each type of depression has it s own criteria for a patient to be
diagnosed under. Depression often goes hand in hand with anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders,
substance use disorders, eating disorders, and personality disorders (ATI, 97). Depressive disorders are
complex and may have multiple etiologies. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

postpartum depression include anxiety, irritability, loss of interest in new baby, withdrawn, sleep
disturbances, loss of appetite, poor concentration, and irrational guilt (Neeb s, 325). Factors that
contribute to postpartum depression are hormone fluctuations, family history of depression, stressful
relationship with partner, pregnancy under age 20, or lack of social support (Neeb s, 325). It is
important to encourage the new mother to ask for help if she is experiencing any symptoms of

Use Of Quantitative Trade Models On Aggregate Bilateral...
This paper builds on the previous literature which uses quantitative trade models to determine the
effects of trade barriers on aggregate bilateral trade flows, income, and welfare, including Eaton and
Kortum (2002); Anderson and van Wincoop (2003); Alvarez and Lucas (2007); and Helpman et al.
(2008) and more recent papers that address discrepancies between more traditional quantitative trade
models and the data. 3 The main contribution of my paper to this literature is that it demonstrates how
the workhorse class of quantitative trade models can be generalized to account for the aggregate
effects of non trivial patterns of product level comparative advantage. It does so in a way that
maintains, to a large extent, the tractability and parsimony of this class of models while utilizing the
wealth of information contained in product level trade data, which is available for most of the world s
countries. It also provides succinct and intuitive expressions relating the gains from trade to countries
patterns of product level comparative advantage, allowing for a straightforward decomposition of the
gains from trade into across product and within product components.
This paper is also related to Arkolakis et al. (2012) in that both papers address important features
shared among the literature s workhorse class of quantitative trade models, but we make very distinct
points. Arkolakis et al. (2012) demonstrate that, in this class of models, the welfare gains from trade

How to Talk to Girls at Parties by Neil Gaiman
In Neil Gaiman s short story, How to Talk to Girls at Parties, Gaiman takes you on an out of the world
encounter that occurs to two young teenage boys. The story starts off with Enn and Vic, the two young
boys, who are trying to find a party by Croydon station. Vic is anxious to go to the party to meet some
girls while Enn is more shy and apprehensive about talking to girls. When they finally find the party
Vic goes off to mingle with a girl named Stella and Enn meets some very unique girls who tell him
stories about traveling the universe and swimming in the sun. Enn starts to get friendly with one of the
girls and right when he s about kiss her Vic comes running to Enn saying that they need to go right
now. When they finally get outside Enn sees that Vic is crying and scared out of his mind, but he never
tells Enn what happened, but it is implied that the girls were aliens. The theme of this story would be
that maybe guys and girls really are from different worlds. Gaiman develops his theme by using
setting, point of view, irony, and dialogue. The story is told by Enn, the young boy who is reluctant to
go to the party because he s not really good at talking to girls. Because Enn is telling the story from
his point of view we are able to understand very quickly that Vic is clearly the ladies man and that Enn
is not. This puts Vic almost in a higher and more dominant position than Enn. The way that Enn talks
about girls makes it very noticeable that he has almost no

Examples Of The Original Bourne Trilogy
I am using the example of the original Bourne Trilogy, more specifically the first movie, the Bourne
Identity. At the very start of the movie Jason Bourne, the protagonist, is shot in the head and almost
drowns. Then when he recovers he remembers nothing from his past. This is most likely an example
of retrograde amnesia due to damage to temporal lobes and the hippocampus. This can cause loss of
memories, but retention of specific motor skills and instincts. Later this is shown true as the movie
progresses and Bourne has amazing skills in combat, driving, and speaking multiple languages. These
actions are examples of procedural memory, which are commonly kept for victims of amnesia. Bourne
s past is completely unknown to himself, but later

Democracy And Its Lack Of Democracy
Throughout Plato s Republic in Book VIII, readers are caught up in the conversation about four unjust
structures that each structure will succeed the other as society decays. The four unjust structures are
explained throughout dialogue and described as timocracy, oligarchy, democracy, and tyranny. Most
shocking critique throughout the discussion is about democracy and its ineffectiveness to rule. Plato s
disagreement of democracy does not involve of what we are acquainted with today, but rather the idea
of democracy. Plato explores the central strain of the government that is acknowledged with liberty
and fairness. Also, this form of government known for its embracement of freedom and equality. Plato
s description and disagreement about democracy is correct because the consequences of such
government is that it leads the population to pursue unnecessary desires.
Democracy is the type of government where the rule comes from people. Democracy, as we know it
today, gives power to the many and in turn give most importance to the idea of obtaining freedom.
Freedom empowers people to pursue their desires and obtain every opportunity they can acquire.
People in this government have unlimited mobility and have free speech to their ideas and beliefs.
However, Plato s argument is that this freedom will the downfall for this type of government and how
people are fueled with their intent to obtain their desire. The enjoyment of free speech can backfire as

Individual Court Case Study
Argument
To defeat a motion for summary judgment by the moving party, the non moving party must show a
genuine dispute of material fact to prove the moving party is not entitled to judgment as a matter of

When a court rules on a summary judgment motion, the court must look positively to the Plaintiff s
case to decide if a genuine dispute of material fact is apparent. See Young Losee v. Graphic Packaging

Ethnic Conflict In The Rwanda Genocide
The Rwanda genocide began in 1994 when an airplane that was carrying the presidents of Rwanda
and Burundi crashed, which triggered an organized campaign of violence against the Tutsi minorities
across the country that was supported by the military and government. Even ordinary citizens were
incited by local officials and the Hutu controlled government to take up arms against them. The
Rwandan genocide can be classified as an ethnic conflict between the Hutu and Tutsi, but research has
failed to find significant ethnic differences between the two groups. The one thing that can be said to
be different is there physical appearance. The exact origins of the Hutus and Tutsis were unknown,
because both groups shared the same language (Kinyarwanda) territory, some cultural practices, they
intermarried and acknowledged the same king. Hence the Hutu and the Tutsi could not be described
correctly as two different ethnic groups.
In Rwanda, about 85 percent of its population was Hutu and the rest was Tutsi, not including one
small percentage of another group. The Hutu was said to have travelled up from the south perhaps
some two thousand years ago and that the Tutsi were possibly a southern Ethiopian tribe who
immigrated into Rwanda around the fifteenth century or several centuries before this. Some of these
early accounts support the theory of a peaceful migration with Tutsi winning the Hutu over through a
complex cattle relationship (Wielenga, 2011). The majority of Rwandans are

Theme Of Satire In Lazarillo De Tormes
Lazarillo de Tormes is a famous work of Spanish literature published anonymously. The novel is
written in the first person. Lazarillo de Tormes is known as a picaresque novel in that the novel is
written about a character of the lower class instead of a hero or upper class character. The novel has
several themes, but the theme that is constant throughout the novel is appearance versus reality. The
author utilizes several rhetorical devices in the novel which add emphasis to the story. The novel,
which was banned by the Spanish Crown during the time of the Spanish inquisition, is the story of the
birth and life Lazarillo de Tormes as he serves various masters and his struggle for survival. His
struggles are real. Many of the rhetorical devices serve to add humor to the novel as well. The author
uses satire to support the theme of appearance versus reality. The definition of satire is an attempt to
ridicule, mock, or criticize something or someone with humorous content. Satire is a rhetorical device
that is used throughout the novel. The author uses humor in the wake of misfortune. This is evident in
the chapter where Lazarillo serves his first master, a blind man. He treated Lazarillo horribly and also
starved him. Lazarillo learns many deceitful things from his master which will serve him well
throughout his life. Lazarillo s goal was to get away from the blind man. An example of satire is the
quote, What! You smelled the sausage and you couldn t smell the post? Ole ? Ole ? I jeered (Albert,
Michael 17). Lazarillo was making fun of the blind man for being able to smell the difference in the
sausage and rotten turnips, but he did not smell the post that Lazarillo purposefully guided him into.
Lazarillo was set on getting away from his first master and this is the clever way that Lazarillo gets
away. He leaves without knowing the condition of his first master. In the end, Lazarillo did manage to
outwit the blind man. The author s portrayal of the clergy can be considered satire as well. The clergy
is portrayed very negatively in the novel. The clergy is not noble, honest or Christ like which is what
people normally equate with a man that holds such a position. According to T. Anthony Perry, there is
a high

Leadership Philosophy Of Captain Byron Black
1. Leadership is a trait that is developed over time by skillfully executing the mission, learning from
past mistakes, and not being afraid to make the tough decisions. Once mission expertise is achieved,
the role shifts into ensuring those who follow can take over the operational responsibilities of the
mission. The expert previously described focuses on the people who are now filling the role he or she
once held; this expert now ensures that those following receive the training they need, are mentored in
their roles as a developing leader, and that their accomplishments are dutifully noted, even awarded
when needed. The question of how to be an effective leader is developed as various skills observed
from those who lead before. Whether it is the spelled out leadership philosophy of Captain Byron
Black, Sector Upper Mississippi River who clearly stated Take Care, Prepare, and Execute the
Mission , or the claim that following Maslow s Hierarchy of Needs by Commander Lynn Keopke,
Marine Safety Office Chicago, or the dos and don ts of personal interaction observed from Chief
Boatswains Mate Thomas Wilson, of Coast Guard Station Niagara, leadership characteristics are
developed and refined over time.
2. Once the level of expertise is reached leadership further develops by applying more guidance to
junior personnel, becoming knowledgeable on policy and rising concerns, and really inserting oneself
with the chain of command. A Leadership Philosophy Practices Inventory

The Theme Of Language In The Red Sari By Apirana Taylor

In the short story The Red Sari by Apriana Taylor, there are many themes being conveyed in the story,
the most prominent being the cultural conflict and tension between the narrator and the Indian
beggars. Language features play a vital role in the story, and Taylor uses language features to convey
his important ideas and messages to the reader.
In The Red Sari, Apirana Taylor also shows that cultural differences can lead to misunderstanding and

The line, Someone carries off the road an arm and a sopping red sari. Christ, if they want the other
arm, they ll have to look under that car. That crunched up concertina car wearing a traffic light for a
hat paints a vivid image inside the reader s mind on the severity of the car crash. We can infer from
these lines that very few people cared about the car crash except for the people who helped. Negative
connotations and metaphors help paint a picture in the reader s mind of the scene. The words crunched

Summary Of The Operational Failures Of Whittaker s Chocolate
1.0 Introduction
Operations management (OM) is critical for the successful output of products and services. At the core
of OM are efficiency, quality and cost, which should be administered well to generate efficiency at all
levels of production (Kaplan Norton, 2015). But when a company experiences internal or external
challenges that impede the execution of the three fundamentals of OM, then the business may
experience adverse effects. This is what was experienced by Whittaker s Chocolate in 2015 when the
company s sales declined due to a drastic increase in the prices of chocolate that reduced the rate of
demand (McConnell Clayton, 2016). For a company that has established a brand that thrives on
economical and quality chocolate, the increase in prices reduced the sales. In addition, the lack of
communication with the customers added to situation as the prices had been stable for a while.
Although the increase in prices is attributed to a more refined taste through a supply of expensive
ingredients the company would have still maintained the cost and averted declined sales. This divulges
an operational problem to do with supply chain and customer relations. This report analyses the
operational failures of Whittaker s Chocolate and provides recommendations for improvement.

Hong Kong Roswell Research Paper
In 1947 Walter Haut, a public information officer for the Roswell army air field, issued a press release
that military personnel had recovered a flying disc that had crashed near a ranch near Roswell.
However, the Military later informed the public that the object was not a flying disc , but a weather
balloon. The story was nearly forgotten until the late 1970 s, when UFO researchers began
interviewing people affiliated with the Roswell incident, and recovering documents. They came to the
conclusion that a UFO did crash at the ranch near Roswell, alien bodies were recovered by the
military, and there was a cover up in place. Then books, movies, and television episodes were created
that talked about what happened near Roswell, and polls showed that a large number of people
believed that an alien spacecraft did crash in Roswell. In response to the allegations made by UFO
researchers, the U.S government released a report in 1994 explaining that the weather balloon that
crashed in Roswell was from Project Mogul, a top secret military program where microphones were

However, if this object was a soviet spy plane, most of the technology would be way ahead of its time,
and to most people from rural New Mexico would look like it was from an alien spacecraft. The plane
that crashed could also looked like the witnesses idea of a UFO. The top secret soviet aircraft could of
been an in winged aircraft such as the prototypes of the german Horten aircraft. There was new jet
engine technology used in many of the Horten aircraft, so a silver Soviet version of these aircraft
would of looked and sounded different than anything the witnesses have seen. Many witnesses also

The Battle of Hastings
The Battle of Hastings Why Did William Win?
On the 14th of October 1066, Duke William of Normandy defeated King Harold at the Battle of
Hastings. His win could be summed up by the fact that William was a better leader. Other factors that
contributed to William s victory include: William was better prepared, the English army was severely
weakened as Harold had just fought off an invasion in the North of England, and Harold made a fatal
mistake of prematurely entering the Battle of Hastings.
William was a better leader because although Harold had the upper hand in the battle and they were
losing, William managed to outwit and defeat the English. In the Bayeux Tapestry there is a scene
depicting that in the days preceding the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although he was victorious in both of them, his troops were exhausted and did not have sufficient
energy to perform at their best. At the beginning of the battle, he managed get a good advantage he
positioned his troops on top of a hill, making it difficult for William to get to his army and attack him.
However, towards the end of the battle, William set a trap to draw Harold from his strong position and
he fell for it. Once they were on even ground, Harold s exhausted troops could not counter the attacks
from William s well trained and nourished army.
The biggest mistake Harold made was entering the Battle of Hastings too early. Harold lost some of
his best fighters at the Battle of Stamford Bridge earlier that day and the rest of his army were tired
out from their previous battle. When they finally arrived in the South, he was overconfident that he
could win this battle because of his recent victories. Because of his misjudgement, he decided to rush
into battle with exhausted and unprepared troops. Towards the end of the battle, he fell for the trap that
William had set, seeing as he was tired and his troops couldn t wait to finish them off and get a good
rest. If he had given his army only a few days rest and fed them like William had to his troops, his
chances of winning the battle would have been a lot higher.
Ultimately, it was a

The Nature Of Science Vs. Religion
No One Man Can Have All That Power
Then the Lord God formed a man from the dust of the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath
of life, and the man became a living being (Genesis 2:7). In Genesis God created humans from his
own likeness from the dust of the ground in H.G Wells The Island of Dr. Moreau, the main character
Dr. Moreau is given the perception of God as he also creates humans. He does the however through
science as he uses vivisection, the live dissection of animals, to convert animals into people we call
beast people. Through this creation process he brainwashes these beast people to have them believe he
is as said in Revelation, I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the Beginning and the
End (Revelation 22:13). Wells, a known atheist, pushes the limits of science vs religion; Wells argues
that man s hubris in thinking that science can replace religion will lead to their downfall. Dr. Moreau
creates these beast, makes them follow his set of rules and ultimately is there judge, jury and
executioner if they break it.
Each religion has a distinct set of practices that make the religion unique, for the most part they all
believe in a higher even though in this book it was never formally established as a religion, they also
have a set of rules made by the higher power. The way H.G Wells sets up the island resembles most
Christianity, as they both have monotheistic views and have set of rules and practices that are keys in

Essay about Mexicos Economy An Politics In 19th Century
Civil war had destroyed both social stability and the economy. Also, few people had enough political
experience to bind Mexico together. The first constitution, spread in 1824, giving state legislators the
power to elect both the president and the vice president. A result of this constitution, caused a series of
weak presidents struggled to form an effective government.
During this time, Mexico s political elite began to divide into two opposing factions: conservatives
and liberals. The conservatives favored a highly centralized government and wanted to maintain the
Catholic Church s power and control of educational facilities.
The liberals wanted a federation of states that was not strictly controlled by a central government.

troops occupied much of northern Mexico by the end of the year. Mexico City fell on September 14,
1847, and Mexican forces surrendered soon thereafter. The Río Grande was fixed as the southern
boundary of Texas. Territory, which now forms the states of California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona,
Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming, became part of the United States.
Liberal rebel leader Juan Álvarez became the provisional president of Mexico. The 1855 takeover of
the government by the liberals began a period known as La Reforma, in which liberal leaders sought
to reduce the power of the church and the military in Mexican politics and society. Later that year
Ignacio Comonfort, a liberal who sought a more gradual pace of reform, replaced President Álvarez.
In 1857 the liberals enacted a new constitution, which reestablished a federal form of government. It
provided for individual rights, universal male suffrage, freedom of speech, and other civil liberties.
The constitution also abolished special courts for members of the military or clergy, and ordered the
church and other institutions to auction off any land or buildings not absolutely necessary for their
operation.
Conservative groups bitterly opposed the new constitution. In 1858 a political revolt overthrew
President Comonfort and Juárez became provisional president. Soon afterward conservatives who had
participated in the revolt forced Juárez to flee Mexico City; he established a new seat of government

Ethics Vs Bananas
Ethics vs. Bananas
In source one, the graph shows the value of a banana sold in the UK and how the total is split between
the different hands involved. Although this source is very factual is has a deeper meaning than just
numbers. The banana is one of the cheapest fruit sold in supermarkets, even though they come from
thousands of kilometers away. The way our world has made transportation so fast, cheap, and
available allows these banana s to sit on our shelves. The transportation of the fruit has the highest
value at four pence where the total value is twelve pence. The sale of the bananas at such a low cost is
due to cheap transportation, the supply of the fruit being higher than the demand, and the low wages
of the workers. The force of global transportation has made goods and services like banana s more
readily available. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The multinational corporations take advantage of economies of scale by producing, transporting, and

government signed a tariff policy that didn t tax their former colony, the Caribbean. When the
multinationals heard they challenged it by taking it to the W.T.O. The World Trade Organization ruled
that a country cannot impose a tariff policy on one member country and not another. The political
power of our world stopped the small banana farmers in the Caribbean from making a higher profit.

The Effects Of Violent Video Games On Aggressive Behavior
The Effects of Violent Video Games on Aggressive Behavior: Potential Sex Differences study that was
conducted by Bruce D. Bartholow, of University of Missouri Columbia, and Craig A. Anderson, of
Iowa State University, examined how playing a violent video game affected levels of aggression
displayed in a laboratory setting. Recently, violent behavior in children and teenagers has gained more
and more attention as video games have become more popular. The study mentions that, in contrast to
Eastern cultures, Western culture believes that people are responsible for their own individual
behaviors. In modern times, after school shootings, reports indicate or lead toward that the shooters
were viewed as loners or outsiders within the student body.
With evidence has piled up in regard to children being exposed to violent media through television or
video games, political figures and policy makes have started to examine the influences that this media
plays in promoting aggressive behavior. Researchers for this study tried to understand if video games
effect males and females in similar ways and how that related to the theory of violence creating
violence. As stated previously, the theory being tested is that if violent media content increases the
likelihood for aggressive behavior, and if that varies depending on the gender of the person in
question.
Researchers for this study hypothesized that participants who played the violent video game would
later display more aggression

  • 2. The Craft By Nokia The Craft Princess Nokia stated in Brujas I m a black Native American I vanquish all evil. She did this to carve out a space for her native identity. Contending that in every way the process of Western Civilization commits genocide toward all living things militant Indian rhetors blatantly reject assimilation into white society, advocating instead a return to traditional tribal values (Lake 732 1983). She did this by embracing her native religion of witchcraft. Furthermore, she emphasized that a return to traditional witchcraft would better society. She did this by recreating The Craft in her music video. The most obvious recreation was that of the forest scene of The Craft. She altered the perspective of the coven though the way that the knife was portrayed. In The Craft the knife was represented as a killing instrument. The women were asked if they had any fear to rush upon the blade rather than join the coven. In their perspective only strong witches would be allowed into the coven. Princess Nokia s altered that the meaning of the knife to be seen as honor. The blade moves from shoulder to shoulder as if dubbing them into a new title. She did this in order to change emotion and persuaded the viewer to look at this ritual in a different way. It shifted the perception of being in a coven as something dangerous to something that builds power and community. She also stated I aint no queen of the night I m a bruja I m a bruja and ima dress in all white. This was said ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Light In The Forest Johnny Tremain Analysis Compare and Contrast Essay Rough Draft The Light in the Forest, by Conrad Richter, and Johnny Tremain, by Esther Forbes, are two incredibly distinct novels, each with their own similarities and differences when compared to one another. True Son, the protagonist in Light in the Forest, is a fifteen year old boy raised by a tribe of Delaware Indians for the past eleven years of his life. Though he is biologically American, he wholeheartedly considers himself a full blooded Indian. This not only creates turmoil when he is forcibly moved to his biological white family but causes True Son confusion when he is forced to choose between not only his two families but his two other identities as well. On the other hand, Johnny Tremain, the protagonist in the novel Johnny Tremain, faces a completely different situation for he is a fourteen year old boy living in colonial Boston. He is at first entirely self centered and arrogant due to his prodigious gifts as a silversmith apprentice. However, when an unfortunate injury results in him having a crippled hand, this destroys any chance of him being an adequate silversmith. He faces humiliation but through many struggles and difficulties transforms into a patriotic man. Through analyzing the two novels, there were many similarities and differences found. Similarities include the difficult journey they both encounter as well as their similar behavior. On the contrary, both individuals differ through their race and how they were brought up. Both True Son and Johnny Tremain desire to stay in a comfortable setting. They greatly enjoy their life and make no wish to change it. And yet, both characters were forced to face hardships which ultimately changes both their situation as well as their perspectives in life. For instance, Johnny Tremain had a comfortable position in life. He was widely considered the most talented young silversmith in Boston. Though he was egotistic, he was destined for a bright future. Regrettably, when molten silver disfigured his hand he lost his chance at ever becoming a silversmith and can no longer find skilled work. Filled with self pity and despair, he almost turns to a life of crime. Only his friendships and new job with a Whig newspaper company ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Healthcare system in the United States is the combination of four prevalent models that are used by the rest of the world. Majority of the industrial countries use a single payer system and very few countries use a multiple payer system, the United States uses a very complex multiple payer system. The four healthcare models that the United States uses are the Beveridge model, the Bismarck model, the national health insurance model and the out of pocket model. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Government insurance is divided into four different types Medicare, Medicaid, CHIP, and VA. Medicare is government program that covers individuals 65 and older and disabled. Medicare is single payer program paid only by the government (Ping Chua, 2006). Medicare is financed by payroll tax, federal income tax and premiums from individuals enrolled in part C and D. Medicaid is a government program designed for low income families whose income is 138% or $16,000 annually per individual, and disabled. However, only the 32 states that chose to expand Medicaid are providing Medicaid for their residents (Kaiser Family Foundation, 2015). Medicaid is financed by both the federal and state. CHIP is a government program that was created to cover children whose families don t qualify for Medicaid and are too poor to purchase private health coverage on their own. CHIP was also designed to cover pregnant women (Ping Chua, 2006). The federal and state government also finance the CHIP program. Lastly VA, which is Veteran s Administration, is a federally administered program for veterans. The federal government through payroll finances this type of government insurance (Ping Chua, 2006). The way that the private health insurance companies work is very complicated. The second payer that finances U.S healthcare system is the private health insurance, and it consists of employer sponsored insurance and private non group (individual market) (Ping Chua, 2006). • 5. Can A Witness Be Made To Judge Essay Can A Witness Be Made To Testify In Your Court Case? Having a witness on your side could be the key to helping you win your court case. The problem is that the witness could refuse to go to court to help you out. Your lawyer can try to compel the witness to testify on your behalf, but there are some situations that can excuse the witness from doing so. Why A Witness Can Choose Not To Testify Calling on a witness in court involves issuing that person a subpoena. It requires them to show up to court with a possible criminal and civil penalty if they decide not to. Once they are in court, the witness can request that they are excused from giving a testimony. • 6. Analysis Of David Hume s An Inquiry Concerning Human... In the very last paragraph of An Inquiry Concerning Human Understanding, Hume states, When we run over libraries, persuaded of these principles, what havoc must we make? If we take in our hand any volume; of divinity or school metaphysics, for instance; let us ask, Does it contain any abstract reasoning concerning quantity or number? No. Does it contain any experimental reasoning concerning matter of fact and existence? No. Commit it then to the flames: for it can contain nothing but sophistry and illusion. (1) In other words, what Hume is expressing to us is that unless we can provide empirical evidence to validate our arguments, we are not actually making a statement of substance, and thus should disregard that idea. • 8. Corvallis School Schedule When asked if the Corvallis school district should change their schedule to a full year schedule with each core class being in each quarter, there is immediate pros and cons that come to mind. Longer breaks, being done faster with a class, all sound intriguing but you have to really think it through and put yourself in all the students and faculty s shoes and have to make the decision of, if the new schedule works for everyone. When you first hear about the schedule and look at its outline, it sounds pretty solid. More breaks, longer breaks, and the main idea of getting done with core classes faster. For a student, hearing that sounds pretty good. For example if a student doesn t lie one of the core classes then they would only have to put up with it for one quarter. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A bunch of students at Corvallis come from farm and ranching houses. Their parents rely on having their child home to help with various chores. Whether it be for irrigating or helping with the crop or helping with the livestock. All of these are not a one person job, they all require help and most of the time the help is their kid. If there was a school schedule that went into the summer, the kids with parents who need their help would be left two options: try to do all the work by themselves, which takes money, or hire someone to help out, which takes money. In a town like Corvallis, Montana that schedule doesn t work with a lot of people. Students already have a tough time with school work. Some kids struggle a lot with certain subjects. Cramming in one full school year of work into only one quarter could be awful to students. Looking at the school year that Corvallis has now, students cover lots of material throughout the year. Even then, there are times when the school work gets overloaded. Trying to fit all the material into only one quarter isn t a good ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 10. An Analysis Of Ernest J. Gaines A Lesson Before Dying A Lesson before Dying by Ernest J. Gaines (1993) is a compelling novel based in a small southern town of Louisiana during the 1940 s, 80 years after slavery is abolished. Gaines storytelling is highly effective due to his use of high stake plot elements, vivid first person narration, and intriguing repetition. More specifically the plot elements of the bar fight and the execution date, the narration of the opening scene and the ongoing dialogue caused by the brawl in the bar, as well as the repetition of many thought provoking phrases. Gaines use of high stake plot elements crafts a captivating storyline that grasps the attention to any reader. For instance, from the very first line of the opening scene of the novel, I was not there, yet I was there. (7) Gaines instantly sets a confusing beginning, which acts as a diversionary tactic to grab the attention of the reader off the bat. Also, Gaines gives the reader a sense of how prevalent a wrongfully convicted black person put on the death row is during the 1940 s. Gaines shows that Grant already knows the outcome of the trial although he is not there, as it is a common case. Furthermore, for most of chapter 26 of the novel, Gaines converts the story into complete and utter dialogue between the narrator who is the protagonist, and his love interest, Vivian. Grant gets into a bar fight and becomes unconscious, and at the very beginning of the chapter 26 screams, WHAT HAPPENED? (165). Because Grant has been unconscious, Gaines writes only in dialogue as Grant is distorted and in shock. Gaines displays the fact that Grant is not describing anything around him, nor noticing minute details as before. First person narration allows readers to create personal connections, whereas third person narration would not be as particularly personal. Gaines successfully allows for the readers to feel the emotions of Grant Wiggins, which in turn makes the protagonist come alive, and the readers ultimately learn more about the character and the world in which ... There are seven types of depressive disorders which are major depressive disorder, dysthymic disorder, postpartum depression, major depressive disorder with seasonal pattern, substance induced depressive disorder, depressive disorder associated with another medical condition, and premenstrual dysphoric disorder. • 12. Use Of Quantitative Trade Models On Aggregate Bilateral... This paper builds on the previous literature which uses quantitative trade models to determine the effects of trade barriers on aggregate bilateral trade flows, income, and welfare, including Eaton and Kortum (2002); Anderson and van Wincoop (2003); Alvarez and Lucas (2007); and Helpman et al. (2008) and more recent papers that address discrepancies between more traditional quantitative trade models and the data. 3 The main contribution of my paper to this literature is that it demonstrates how the workhorse class of quantitative trade models can be generalized to account for the aggregate effects of non trivial patterns of product level comparative advantage. It does so in a way that maintains, to a large extent, the tractability and parsimony of this class of models while utilizing the wealth of information contained in product level trade data, which is available for most of the world s countries. It also provides succinct and intuitive expressions relating the gains from trade to countries patterns of product level comparative advantage, allowing for a straightforward decomposition of the gains from trade into across product and within product components. This paper is also related to Arkolakis et al. (2012) in that both papers address important features shared among the literature s workhorse class of quantitative trade models, but we make very distinct points. Arkolakis et al. (2012) demonstrate that, in this class of models, the welfare gains from trade depend only ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 13. How to Talk to Girls at Parties by Neil Gaiman In Neil Gaiman s short story, How to Talk to Girls at Parties, Gaiman takes you on an out of the world encounter that occurs to two young teenage boys. The story starts off with Enn and Vic, the two young boys, who are trying to find a party by Croydon station. Vic is anxious to go to the party to meet some girls while Enn is more shy and apprehensive about talking to girls. When they finally find the party Vic goes off to mingle with a girl named Stella and Enn meets some very unique girls who tell him stories about traveling the universe and swimming in the sun. Enn starts to get friendly with one of the girls and right when he s about kiss her Vic comes running to Enn saying that they need to go right now. When they finally get outside Enn sees that Vic is crying and scared out of his mind, but he never tells Enn what happened, but it is implied that the girls were aliens. The theme of this story would be that maybe guys and girls really are from different worlds. Gaiman develops his theme by using setting, point of view, irony, and dialogue. The story is told by Enn, the young boy who is reluctant to go to the party because he s not really good at talking to girls. Because Enn is telling the story from his point of view we are able to understand very quickly that Vic is clearly the ladies man and that Enn is not. This puts Vic almost in a higher and more dominant position than Enn. The way that Enn talks about girls makes it very noticeable that he has almost no ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

At the very start of the movie Jason Bourne, the protagonist, is shot in the head and almost drowns. Then when he recovers he remembers nothing from his past. This is most likely an example of retrograde amnesia due to damage to temporal lobes and the hippocampus. This can cause loss of memories, but retention of specific motor skills and instincts. Later this is shown true as the movie progresses and Bourne has amazing skills in combat, driving, and speaking multiple languages. Democracy And Its Lack Of Democracy Throughout Plato s Republic in Book VIII, readers are caught up in the conversation about four unjust structures that each structure will succeed the other as society decays. The four unjust structures are explained throughout dialogue and described as timocracy, oligarchy, democracy, and tyranny. Most shocking critique throughout the discussion is about democracy and its ineffectiveness to rule. Plato s disagreement of democracy does not involve of what we are acquainted with today, but rather the idea of democracy. Plato explores the central strain of the government that is acknowledged with liberty and fairness. Also, this form of government known for its embracement of freedom and equality. • 17. Ethnic Conflict In The Rwanda Genocide The Rwanda genocide began in 1994 when an airplane that was carrying the presidents of Rwanda and Burundi crashed, which triggered an organized campaign of violence against the Tutsi minorities across the country that was supported by the military and government. Even ordinary citizens were incited by local officials and the Hutu controlled government to take up arms against them. The Rwandan genocide can be classified as an ethnic conflict between the Hutu and Tutsi, but research has failed to find significant ethnic differences between the two groups. The one thing that can be said to be different is there physical appearance. The exact origins of the Hutus and Tutsis were unknown, because both groups shared the same language (Kinyarwanda) territory, some cultural practices, they intermarried and acknowledged the same king. Hence the Hutu and the Tutsi could not be described correctly as two different ethnic groups. In Rwanda, about 85 percent of its population was Hutu and the rest was Tutsi, not including one small percentage of another group. The Hutu was said to have travelled up from the south perhaps some two thousand years ago and that the Tutsi were possibly a southern Ethiopian tribe who immigrated into Rwanda around the fifteenth century or several centuries before this. Some of these early accounts support the theory of a peaceful migration with Tutsi winning the Hutu over through a complex cattle relationship (Wielenga, 2011). The majority of Rwandans are ... • 18. Theme Of Satire In Lazarillo De Tormes Lazarillo de Tormes is a famous work of Spanish literature published anonymously. The novel is written in the first person. Lazarillo de Tormes is known as a picaresque novel in that the novel is written about a character of the lower class instead of a hero or upper class character. The novel has several themes, but the theme that is constant throughout the novel is appearance versus reality. The author utilizes several rhetorical devices in the novel which add emphasis to the story. The novel, which was banned by the Spanish Crown during the time of the Spanish inquisition, is the story of the birth and life Lazarillo de Tormes as he serves various masters and his struggle for survival. His struggles are real. Many of the rhetorical devices serve to add humor to the novel as well. The author uses satire to support the theme of appearance versus reality. The definition of satire is an attempt to ridicule, mock, or criticize something or someone with humorous content. Satire is a rhetorical device that is used throughout the novel. The author uses humor in the wake of misfortune. This is evident in the chapter where Lazarillo serves his first master, a blind man. He treated Lazarillo horribly and also starved him. Lazarillo learns many deceitful things from his master which will serve him well throughout his life. Lazarillo s goal was to get away from the blind man. An example of satire is the quote, What! You smelled the sausage and you couldn t smell the post? Ole ? Ole ? I jeered (Albert, Michael 17). Lazarillo was making fun of the blind man for being able to smell the difference in the sausage and rotten turnips, but he did not smell the post that Lazarillo purposefully guided him into. Lazarillo was set on getting away from his first master and this is the clever way that Lazarillo gets away. He leaves without knowing the condition of his first master. In the end, Lazarillo did manage to outwit the blind man. The author s portrayal of the clergy can be considered satire as well. The clergy is portrayed very negatively in the novel. The clergy is not noble, honest or Christ like which is what people normally equate with a man that holds such a position. According to T. Anthony Perry, there is a high ... At the core of OM are efficiency, quality and cost, which should be administered well to generate efficiency at all levels of production (Kaplan Norton, 2015). But when a company experiences internal or external challenges that impede the execution of the three fundamentals of OM, then the business may experience adverse effects.
