Essays On Law. Sample Essay from Introduction to Law
1. Essays On Law
Writing an essay on the subject of law can be a challenging endeavor that demands a profound
understanding of legal principles, critical thinking skills, and effective communication abilities.
The complexity of legal concepts, coupled with the need for precise articulation, makes the task
inherently demanding.
Firstly, delving into the vast realm of law requires comprehensive research to ensure accuracy
and relevance of information. One must navigate through numerous legal statutes, cases, and
scholarly articles, extracting pertinent details and weaving them into a cohesive narrative. This
process demands not only time but also a meticulous approach to sift through the intricate layers
of legal jargon.
Moreover, formulating a compelling argument and analysis is paramount in legal essays. It
involves synthesizing information, interpreting legal precedents, and applying them to specific
scenarios. The writer must showcase a nuanced understanding of the subject matter, avoiding
oversimplification while maintaining clarity for the audience.
The structure of the essay is another hurdle that writers must overcome. Legal essays typically
require a precise and organized format, with a clear introduction, well-structured body
paragraphs, and a succinct conclusion. Ensuring a seamless flow of ideas while adhering to the
prescribed format adds another layer of complexity.
In addition, legal writing necessitates precision and attention to detail. The use of accurate
terminology, citation styles, and adherence to specific guidelines is crucial. A minor error can
undermine the credibility of the entire essay.
Despite these challenges, successfully navigating the intricacies of legal essay writing can be
immensely rewarding. It hones one's analytical skills, deepens understanding of legal principles,
and enhances the ability to articulate complex ideas coherently.
For those facing difficulties or time constraints, it's worth considering alternative solutions.

2. Bib 370 What Is The Historical Context For The Psalm
BIB 370 Themes and Psalms Worksheet:
Social and Religious Analysis
Instructions: Complete the following questions about Psalm 3 and Psalm 34 with a
minimum of 75 words per question using complete sentences. Use required readings,
one or more references for each psalm, and any information from the superscriptions
of the psalm in your responses. Ensure that you properly cite references when
answering the questions on this worksheet.
Psalm 3
1. What is the historical context for the psalm?
The historical background of Psalm 3 is described in 2 Samuel chapters 15 18. Verse
7 of the said psalm showed David s petition. He asked the Lord to save him. It is
clear from 2 Samuel 15:32 27 that David wisely sent Hushai, his friend, back to

Construct an outline of the psalm that shows its literary structure.
Psalm 34:1 3 is an introductory summons to praise (Bosma, n.d.). It was then
followed by David s testimonial in verse 4 until verse 6. Further, verses 8 14 is all
about the poet s exhortations, which consisted of 10 imperatives and seven poetic
lines, with emphasis on verse 11 (Bosma, n.d.). Also, it is noteworthy that verse 15
describes the Lord as attentive most especially to the righteous; and verse 16 talks
about His negative attitude towards those who perform evil (Bosma, n.d.).
4. Describe poetical devices in the psalm, including examples of parallelism (at least
two types) and figures of speech (at least three types).
Psalm 34:17 ultimately corresponds thematically with verses 4 and 7. Bosma (n.d.)
believed that this is evident because of the lexical parallels between in verses 4, 6
and 17. Also, Verses 15 21 reflect the poet s use of alternating parallelism (Bosma,
n.d.).
There are various figures of speech evident in this psalm. First, verse 13 represents
synecdoche because the tongue and lips meant to represent the poet as a whole.
Second, verse 16 shows anthropomorphism because of the use of the face of the
Lord is against those who do evil, which in turn signifies the explicit comparison of
God to the aspect of mankind (Bible Getaway, n.d.). Lastly, acrostic is also evident
in Psalm 34 because each verse begun with a letter of the alphabet in

Introduction The following report for Macgregor Meats is to be used to assist them
in choosing whether to export to countries outside of Australia. The countries that are
reviewed in this report are India and China. Macgregor Meats wishes to export to
India and China, requires research before attempting an exporting deal with either of
the two countries. Research is not done on the other countries then products could fail
to sell on the foreign markets due to a number of factors. These include: The
countries beliefs/views on the product If items are prohibited or not The
communication barriers if they speak another language The size of the population

Indians views towards business meetings and their requirement to exchange
business cards on first meetings, but will show leniency for late arrivals as they
themselves may do the same with meetings and punctuality. Overall India s
punctuality will make a big impact on the business relations between Macgregor
Meats and India. In China, the biggest cultural impacts affecting business relations
are the amount of public holidays they have, again Macgregor Meats punctuality
with addressing others and meetings. Overall Macgregor Meats has again a
punctuality issue as Chinese businesses take punctuality very seriously, if a
company representative is late for a business meeting it will drastically change the
opinion of the Chinese business and affect the deal. Chinese prefer to be early if
possible but always be on time. This is the main problem that will affect the business
relations between Macgregor meats and

5. Death Of Pedro Book Report
That of the death not only of a man but of the family. The home became an abattoir
of family feelings. We slaughtered love and murdered relationships. The blood of
pain smeared all of us. There seems no hope of family reconciliation the emotion
union has been pierced by the shaft of the poisonous arrow of pride and emotion.
The bowyers the people of the town, the Fletcher and the shaft maker Nasar and the
archer the twins order to fire by a queenly sister who must have known the
consequences of her actions. A somber Pedro mourned to the loss of his brother
and sister. They were taken by evil. Pedro believes what he did was justifiable.
Santiago had broken the rules of our society and had to be punished. He has failed
to understand that the rules may have been wrong. Even the leaders of our society
Don Lozardo and father Amador did nothing to warn him. They said they didn t

arrow made by Nasar himself. He must have realized that actions of consequences.

those same events could be repeated again. Those who have remained in the town

the past and tradition. If the same events happened tomorrow in the town there is
little doubt the same events would be repeated. We should learn from the past.
Sometimes we do as one of the brothers appears to have done. Those that resist

6. The Journey Of Santa Barbara
When we reach our bikes, I review the route to Santa Barbara provided to us by the
friendly waitress. Appears like a no brainer. We bike along Ortega Hill Road to
Evans Road. From there we turn right onto the Ortega Hill bike path to Jameson
Lane. All the way to Olive Mill Road and take a left and continue on the bike path
to Channel Drive to the finish line the Dolphin Statue in Santa Barbara. With Doris
leg cramp gone, she s restless and can t wait to just get there. Me too, we re so
close. I reply, though, not so. However, it is outstanding that we ve made it this far,
and are having fun. Who knew? Bobby never rode his bike long distance. For

In a sec, my feet slam the ground and my right ankle coils and skids to a stop.
When I step away from the bike, I wince as a sharp pain runs up my right leg and
ankle. In an instant, I m seated on the ground. I unlace my shoes, peeved. I gaze up
at Doris. Why did you pull over? To allow you time to catch up, she says, and helps
me pull off my shoe and sock. My ankle is red and swollen. I ll be fine, I say. I m
not quitting. I move my foot in a circular motion. There is some discomfort, only I
don t care. I apologize for sounding curt with her. Apology accepted, she says, and
takes an Ace bandage from her fanny pack and wraps it snugly around and around
my ankle. This will have to do. From North Jameson Lane to Olive Mill Road is
grueling. Not just because the Ace bandage is too tight, but that we ve never biked
further than round trip from Santa Monica to Malibu. This stretch is hands down
the longest. Sweat pours from my pores. I m thirsty. Still, I can t chance to take
my hands off the handlebars to grab for my water bottle. I liven up when a group
of cyclists passes us and waves. Where did they come from out of nowhere? I have
no chance to check if Zak is one of them. Though, he would have shouted my name
or something. When we reach the end of Olive Mill Road, it curves to the right. The
effort it takes to pedal has amplified. My legs ache and my lungs burn
7. Essay on The Power of the Piano
What can appear to gleam and reflect such beauty and craftsmanship yet can be
handled by a three year old. It s sound so pure by a touch of a finger has been in
existence for well over a hundred years and is the foundation for creating music. It
s black and white keys produce sounds when played correctly that can bring tears to
one s eyes, touch your heart and soul, bring hope, or even joy and laughter to an
event. All of this power... lies in the piano. The piano from its creation to this very
second had transformed the world of music no matter what class, talent, and ability.
To start off, the word piano is derived from the Italian word pianoforte which means,
quiet and loud respectively ( Pianonet.com ). These words relate to how... Show more

Iron frames which were more durable for then the prior wooden frames. The piano
s range of notes and sound quality would continue to increase as time went on. So
how do we differentiate between the different types of pianos? It s not about the
outside but the inside we re always told that counts. The frame more importantly
the strings on a grand piano, are horizontal ( Piano Play It ). The strings on the
inside go away from the keyboard. The other main subcategory for pianos is
Upright pianos. These pianos strings are construed like their name, horizontally
and so is their frame. This arrangement of the strings makes this piano the most
compact of traditional pianos ( Piano Play It ). In addition to your traditional
pianos, as time went on the piano would diversify even more. This paper would be
over twenty pages longs if I broke each one of these down but here are a few. There
is the electric piano, which utilized electromagnetic pickups, and these pickups
sense vibrations and magnify and modify the sound the strings when hit by
pressing any key on the keyboard. You find these pianos still used a couple
hundred years late by many R B and Jazz Artist. The toy piano, which is really a
miniature, sized piano, was invented by a 17 year old in 1872. All of this before
the 20th century when we see the emergence of keyboards... which I will discuss
later ( Piano Play It ). Pianos have transformed music by transforming itself over the
past 300 plus
8. Analysis Of A Bad Moms Christmas
Was A Bad Moms Christmas a Success? In the original Bad Moms there are three
moms who are tired of having to be the perfect mom , so they start doing things that
are fun to them such as going out to the bars, partying, and dating again. In A Bads
Moms Christmas it shows the same moms who like to go out and party, but this time
hosting Christmaswhile their moms come home. This movie being the second in the
sequel demonstrates bright colors, uses goodcamera techniques as well as hinting
towards the original BadMoms. Having these three aspects in the movie is
important because it hints towards what the movie is going to be about, as well as
getting the viewers even more interested on what they will watch. A Bad Moms
Christmas successfully keeps their viewers interested throughout the trailer with
the use of having bright colors, long and short camera angles, as well as relating
this movie to the original movie. The trailer for A Bad Moms Christmas is
effective in giving an exciting preview into what to expect from the movie. In
figure 1 it shows the trailer using bright colors of the Christmas trees, lights, and all
of the Christmas decorations add to the excitement of the trailer as well as being
able to understand the theme. Seeing these colors keep the audience interested as
well as get the Christmas feel. Putting all of these bright lights was effective for the
director to do because it can add to the understanding of the movie. Keeping the
theme in mind is
9. A Twisted Hero Definition
A twisted hero is someone who demonstrates great leadership skills, manipulation
tactics, and can lead a group of people to success, but does it in a warped or
unethical manner. This is because someone who is twisted is, by definition, warped
or has an unhealthy way of thinking. However, a hero is defined as a person who is
admired or idealized for their courage, noble qualities, and outstanding achievements.
They are perceived as mighty protectors and great leaders who can do amazing acts.
They can bring success and wealth to people, and lead them towards prosperity. When
these terms, twisted and hero, are combined, it gives us the base definitionof a twisted
hero. There are two categories that define a hero, which are traditional heroes and
twisted heroes. A traditional hero and twisted hero are seen as the same by some
people, but when compared to a traditional hero, a twisted hero has few similarities
and many differences. Most traditional heroes are the good guys; they fight for and
protect what is right. In comparison, a twisted hero fights for what he or she thinks
is right, and disregards the safety or feelings of others. Traditional heroes are also
often revered for their courage, achievements, and noble qualities. They are looked
up to by others and can be idolized or admired by the greater public. In the case of a
twisted hero, they are looked up to but not for the same reasons. Twisted heroes are
looked up to out of fear and because their power demands it,

I. Introduction
There is no other breed like the Pug. Not only does he look distinctive, but he has a
character like no other. His furrowed brow may make him appear perpetually
worried, but beneath the wrinkles lies a happy go lucky dog with a clown like
personality.
Ask Pug owners to describe their dogs, and the same words crop up time and again:
loving , intelligent , alert , and inquisitive. However, one word appears more than
any other fun ! This is a dog that will keep you amused for hours with his antics, and
who will thrive on your smiles and laughter.
Once you have shared your home and your life with one of these unique dogs, you
will understand the breed motto: Multum in parvo a lot of dog in a small place!

b. Country of Origin
Theories about the origin of the Pug have caused much debate over the years, some
thinking the breed to have developed in the far east, others thinking it developed in
Europe. It is now generally accepted that the pug originated in China, from where it
spread to Japan and later to Europe. III. Characteristic a. Color
The breed has a fine, smooth, soft, short and glossy coat that comes in a variety of
colors and a compact square body. Their coats determine their color that can be
fawn, apricot fawn, silver fawn and black but they are the same in every way. b. Size
and Weight
Pugs are describe as multum in parvo( much in little), referring to the pugs
personality and small size. This is shown by compactness of form, well knit
proportions, and hardness of a well developed muscle. It s weight from 14 to 18
pounds (dog or bitch) as desirable. c. Distinct Characteristic
Head
The head is large, massive, and round not apple headed, with no indentation of the
skull. The eyes are dark in color, very large, bold and prominent, globular in shape,
soft and solicitous in expression, very lustrous, and, when excited, full of fire. The
ears are thin, small, and soft, like black velvet. There are two kinds the rose and the
button. The wrinkles are large and deep. The muzzle is short, blunt, square, but not
up faced. Bite A Pug s bite should be very slightly undershot.

11. Disadvantages Of Using Static Analysis In The Computer...
Statistic analyze is the computer software analysis performed by not actually
executing the software that is being tested. Static analysis doesn t include dynamic
execution of the software under test and can detect potential defects in an early stage,
prior to running the program. It can be achieved by a machine to automatically walk
through the source codeand detect noncomplying codes. A compiler which finds
lexical, syntactic and even some semantic mistakes can be given as a classical
example. It can find weaknesses in the code at the exact location.
Static analysis can also be carried out by a person who would review the code to
provide correct coding standards and conventions are used to construct the program.
This is generally called Code Review and it is done by a peer developer, someone
apart ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The defect gets more expensive as long as the defect persists. One of the most
crucial advantages of static analysis is the detection of defects earlier during the
process when they are easier and more cost effective to fix. Other advantages involves
removing program components that are not necessary and ensuring that the software
being analyzed is compatible with other programs that are likely to be run
concurrently.
Another advantage of using static code analysis is you can define your project
specific rules, and they will be guaranteed to follow without any manual intervention.
In case any team member forgets to follow those rules, static code analyzer will
highlight them like fortify or find bugs.
As the static testing is faster and achieves 100% coverage, the unit cost of detecting
these bugs by static testing is much lower than detecting bugs by dynamic testing. If
you have an urgent deadline looming on the horizon, the part where you use dynamic
testing tools can be omitted. However, tool supported static testing should in no case
be

Human Factors, Anthropometrics, Ergonomics and
Their Relationship with Design
There are few situations in which a product is designed specifically for a single
individual. For example, luxury items that are custom built for people with a great
deal of money. Moreover, there a number of individuals who rely on these luxury
custom built items due to disabilities and unique physical characteristics. However,
the majority of the products and spaces today are designed with the whole
population in mind. These products must be designed to be adequate for a population
of users. Most of the time with adjustability or a range of heights and sizing.

This information can contribute to the design and evaluation of tasks, jobs, spaces,
and environments to make them the most compatible with the limitations,
disabilities, and needs of the general population.
In conclusion, Anthropometrics is the study of the sizes of people in relation to
products and spaces manufactured. Human Factors or Ergonomics is the relationship
between people and the products in which they use. Moreover, Anthropometric data is
used to help designers and design products meet ergonomic needs.
Although Anthropometrics and Ergonomics are primarily scientific fields,
designers should be aware of these human factors to ensure their product and
spaces are safe and socially responsible. These studies allow designers to
accommodate the vast majority of the population so as many people as possible can
use and interact with the product or space. Good designers observe these qualities
first because no one wants to use or own a product that carries out a task poorly or
dangerously. In conclusion, designers should always rely on and research
anthropometric and ergonomic data when designing functional spaces and
13. Describe The Structure Of Methanogenesis
Methanogens are prokaryotes. A prokaryote cell does not contain a membrane
bound nucleus; they range from 0.1 to 10 Вµm in total cell size. Methanogens are
usually either coccoid (spherical) or bacilli (rod shaped). Each cell is surrounded by
a plasma membrane. The cell has no subcellular organelles, only infoldings of the
plasma membrane called mesosomes. The deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) is condensed
within the cytosol to form the nucleoid. The cell walls of Methanogens, like other
Archaea, lack peptidoglycan. Some prokaryotes have tail like flagella. By rotation of
their flagella, they have the ability to move through their surrounding media in
response to chemicals or better known as chemotaxis . The flagella are made of the
proteinflagellin that forms a long filament, which is attached to the flagellar motor by
the flagellar hook.
Methanogens are anaerobic unicellular organisms that release methane as a waste
product of cellular metabolism. All of the methanogens are lithotrophs that can make
their own energy only by Methanogenesis, or the production of methane. ... Show

in environments in which all electron acceptors other than CO2 (such as oxygen,
nitrate, trivalent iron, and sulphate) have been depleted. In spite of this, since the
process of methanogenesis also produces methane, which has a global warming
potential 21 times greater than that of carbon dioxide. This effect can fortunately be
offset through the use of methane as a
14. Summary Of Jerry Spinelli s Staying In My Yo-Yo String
In the chapter, Staying In The Lines , from the autobiography Knots In My Yo Yo
String by Jerry Spinelli, the author describes his neatness as a boy. In the chapter,
Jerry Spinelli gives many examples of how he strove to be perfect in his childhood
and how it influenced him as he matured. To begin with, Jerry was neat in ways by
his precise cutting. In the first paragraph on page 94, the paragraph is describing
how jerry cut. He would measure the line with a ruler, draw it over with a pencil
and then he would cut out his shape. This shows Jerry was neat because he didn t
want his cutting to be sloppy, he wanted it well put together. Another reason why
Jerry was neat is, on page 95 when he was saying how he used colored pencils instead
of crayons. He said, ... the frequently sharp points never strayed out of the lines .
This also shows he was neat because a crayon is a thick piece of colorful wax that is
rubbed on a paper to make the color stand out. It is also a lot thicker than a colored
pencil. This means that he prefers a colored pencil because the tip never goes out of
the line... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

name was among them. This shows that Jerry didn t even bother to check to make
sure his locker was neat because he knew how neat he was already that he didn t have
to just take a quick look to see if it was still neat. Another time Jerry was attempting
to be neat is when he said on page 95, Give me a direction, I followed it. Put a rule in
front of me, I obeyed it. This shows he was neat because he wanted to be perfect,
never get in trouble, do what he was supposed to. He was being different in a good

reshaped as well. The course prepares seniors and allows them to express their
concerns with the issues in the world today. I have firstly learned many important
things about our government but more importantly I have learned to always be open

Political Science has allowed us to understand that everyone has different views and
opinions and there is nothing wrong with disagreeing with someone. I rejoiced after
having heated debates with classmates during class and immediately after enjoying
our time together even better than before. Being able to express ourselves opens up
the individuality of our classmates which allows for more personal and meaningful
conversations during the day. This is the major step towards adulthood and without
this class people may remain hesitant to share their thoughts because they still have
the preconceived notion that people who disagree with you may not like you and you
have to belong to the

selves and the truth, we must suffer. These various themes are continually
illustrated throughout Shakespeare s King Lear. Their effects are not

characters are made to suffer more, some less. The truths and wisdom

He is no longer writing his own truths. He
is forced to see and feel what many feel daily: rejection, deceit, pain,

could never realize this if he had not gone mad. His madness brings him to
a place where he no longer lives by the same code. In his madness, the
truths are not necessarily what he wants them to be. The storm allows him
to not only realize Cordelia loves him, but also to come to an
understanding of what real love is. He recognizes that Goneril and Regan
did not really love him. In the storm, Lear also is able to comprehend
that all people suffer. Throughout his entire life he has been the one in
control. In losing control to his madness, he no longer has the power to
hold off suffering. Without power, Lear is able to learn.

He is able to see that Edgar is his true and good son, just as Lear learned

18. Heart Of Darkness Stereotypes Essay
Joseph Conrad once said, The belief in a supernatural source of evil is not necessary;
men alone are quite capable of every wickedness. (Conrad, 1911) One of the greatest
evils in this world are stereotypes. They restrict certain races, genders, ethnicities, and
so forth into groups that reflect the judgements of what other people think of them.
When one thinks of Africa, one thinks of tribes, uncivilized indigenous peoples,
starvation, HIV/AIDS, disease, and poverty. Although these are frequently found in
the continent, it does not reflect the beauty of the savannas, the uniqueness of the
culture, or the abundance of natural resources. In the novella Heart of Darkness,
Conrad reinforces the stereotypes about Africa by going into great depths... Show

Stereotypes allow one to think of indigenous peoples as uncivilized or
unmodernized . Throughout the entire novella not a single African is referred to
by their name or even as human, only the white men are. This contrast is shown
when Conrad says, It was a distinct glimpse: the dugout, four paddling savages, and
the lone white man turning his back suddenly on the headquarters, on relief, on
thoughts of home perhaps; setting his face towards the depth of the wilderness,
towards his empty and desolate station. (Conrad, page 51) Another well known
quote from the novella is Exterminate all the brutes! (Conrad, page 83) in which
Kurtz believes the only way to fix Africa is to rid it of all it s people which he
certainly tries to by decapitating many of the natives, absolutely demoralizing the
point of the journey. These terms savages and brutes completely degrade a person
and strip them of their identities. Conrad also says, He ought to have been clapping
his hands and stamping his feet on the bank... (Conrad, page 59) which shows
there were already expectations for the Africans. However, Achebe reflects on the
end of the previous quote, instead of which he was hard at work... (Conrad, page
59), claiming this is the first time Conrad has given us one of his rare descriptions
of an African who is not just limbs or rolling eyes. (Achebe, page 3),

the late 1970s, even as both companies have had ups and downs in the stock market
and in the consumer products market as well.
Apple Inc. v. Microsoft Corp., was a copyright infringement lawsuit in which Apple
Computer sought to prevent Microsoft and Hewlett Packard from using visual
graphical user interface (GUI) elements that were similar to those in Apple s Lisa and
Macintosh operating systems. Some critics claimed that Apple was really attempting
to gain all intellectual property rights over the desktop metaphor for computer
interfaces, and perhaps all GUIs, on personal ... Show more content on

The district court had to grapple with graphical user interfaces in the first instance
and for the first time, with a claim of copying a computer program s artistic look as
an audio visual work instead of program codes registered as a literary work. In this
case there is also the unusual, added complexity of a license that arguably covers
some or most of the allegedly infringing works. The district court therefore had to
cut new paths as it went along; we have the luxury of looking at the case at the end
of the trip. From this vantage point, it is clear that treatment of ,Apple s GUIs,
whose visual displays are licensed to a great degree and which are a tool for the
user to access various functions of a computer in an aesthetically and economically
pleasing way, follows naturally from a long line of copyright decisions which
recognizes that works cannot be substantially similar where analytic dissection
demonstrates that similarities in expression are either authorized, or arise from the
use of ,common ideas or their logical extensions.
Therefore they hold:
(1) Because there was an agreement by which Apple licensed the right to make
certain derivative works, the district court properly started with the license to
determine what Microsoft was permitted to copy. Infringement cannot be founded on
a licensed similarity. We read Microsoft s license as the, district court did, to cover
visual displays not the Windows 1.0
20. Persuasive Essay On Donnie s World
Halloween also happens to be the day that Donnie s world will come to an end,
according to Frank the first time he speaks to Donnie. Frank also lists numbers in
the form of time measurements and all can be speculatively composed of or can
total to 666. Six is known as the number of man, and in the Apocalypse of St. John,
the number of the Beast (Jay). In the filmFrank states: 28 days, 6 hours, 42 minutes,
12 seconds meaning that after that time had passed Donnie s worldwould end. Back to
the 6 reference we hear 28 days or 8 2=6; 6 hours; 42 seconds or 4+2=6, and 12
seconds which is 6 + 6.
Frank, metaphorically speaking, is Donnie s Ego, according to Jungian study, should

This tells us that the nature of the school itself is metaphorically sideways, or better
yet backwards. The entire structure of his town is backwards and Donnie is
apparently the only one who can either see this or has the guts to point it out. This is
why Donnie is an anti hero. The link to Donnie s satanic nature and also the key point
that everything leads to in this film is found in the scene where he explains the
meaning of the Graham Greene short story, The Destructors, which states that:
destruction is a form of creation. This concept is the one the Donnie Darko must
accept in order to cause keep the world from ending on Halloween. He must be
destroyed in order for the world to continue creating, and just like Donnie all of the
rest of us must come to terms with our death by determining it as a cause of future
creation. Thus there is not a good or an evil every acts and decision are part of a
machine, near the end of the film Donnie tells his enemy: Deus ex Machina which
translates to God from the machine. Donnie cannot comprehend throughout the
movie that the universe is in fact just a machine trying to do its programmed job. In
this sense the burning of Old Misery s house is basically no different from
destruction. This explains the darkest and most applicable concept this film placed in
our grasp.
At the end of the film the director made us feel as though Donnie dreamed the
alternate world where he was the dark anti hero. In other words Donnie s alternate
world is one of a separate and non existent dimension and the reality is that one must
face his/her fate as best we can no matter what it is. Donnie Darko presents us with
two concepts:
1.)A world where an anti hero does as he wants
2.)A world where we are predetermined to do what we are supposed to do according

21. Rhetoric, Paideia and the Phaedrus Essay
Rhetoric, Paideia and the Phaedrus
ABSTRACT: Some of the notorious interpretive puzzles of the Phaedrus arise from
reading it in terms of a static version of mimesis; hence, the concerns about its
apparent failure to enact its own norms and the status of its own self commentaries.
However, if the dialogue is read in the light of the more dynamic model of a
perfectionist paideia that is, Plato s portrayal of Socrates as attempting to woo
Phaedrus to philosophy (with only partial success) is itself a rhetorical attempt to
woo the appropriate reader then many of the puzzles fall into place as part of the
rhetorical strategy. The apparent lack of formal unity arises out of Phaedrus own
deficiencies; the written dialogue turns out ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Rutherford goes on to propose that the Phaedrus is concerned with a vital choice
Phaedrus must make, ... concerned with love being properly read in part as a
conversation dialogue, presenting the process of Phaedrus turning to philosophy
(1995: p. 248 9); thus we see Socrates as a lover wooing Phaedrus to philosophy. (p.
247)
On this account, Socrates enacts in the dialogue the different varieties of good
madness expounded in the Palinode (p. 262), and the latter exemplifies the
rhetorical and persuasive skills which Socrates requires of the true orator in the
second half of the dialogue (p. 257). However, Socrates himself acknowledges
(265b) that he has not in fact produced a perfect and uniform work such as that he
describes as the ideal , and Rutherford suggests that the same is true of Plato s
achievement (or deliberate underachievement) in the Phaedrus as a whole . This
feature both points to the imperfections of the written word, to the unfinished nature
of this, and every, treatment of philosophic themes, and also to the complex and non
simple natures of the participants . (p. 266) Phaedrus himself is complex and
divided . We recall that Phaedrus response to the Palinode is principally aesthetic, ...
he does not question Socrates about the conclusions he reached (p. 258). So if the
second half as a whole seems to
22. Gender Representation In Gilmore Girls
Representation in media is hugely important as it influences, both consciously and
subconsciously, culture and society. Gender representation is especially important in
this day and age because more and more media is being consumed by younger
audiences. In G rated animated movies and televisions shows targeted for young
girls, the female characters are hyper sexualized and, 9 out of 10 times, their stories
revolve around finding a man to love them, facilitating our cultures obsession with
heteronormativity. Boys are encouraged to watch maledominated action movies, full
of violence, sexy, scantily clad women, and heteronormative, hyper masculine
stereotypes. Boys who are interested in any media designated for girls is seen as less
masculine and may face bullies and pressure from all walks of life, at home and in
school. Society begins teaching boys and girls how to genderimmediately, what is
appropriate, tolerated, encouraged, and what is unacceptable. As we grow up our
media becomes more violent, more sexualized, and even more gendered. I will be
exploring gender representation in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Gilmore Girls, and
The 100, discussing the problematic and the progressive representations of gender,
starting with Gilmore Girls. Gilmore Girls is a fast paced dramedy following a thirty
something single mother, Lorelai, and her daughter, Rory. Seemingly progressive, as
the show was written and produced by a woman, Amy Serman Palladino, Gilmore

two white males had stolen his girlfriend s 1997 black Honda CRV and left the

parking stall was dry, which indicated a vehicle had just moved from the location
since it had been snowing throughout the night.
Hughes called Blahak for me, who was at work at the time of the theft. Blahak told
me nobody other than Hughes had permission to take the vehicle. Blahak stated she
gave Police permission to search the vehicle for evidence when the vehicle was
located. I asked Blahak if Hughes could sign the motor vehicle form for her, and she
stated yes .
Neither Blahak or Hughes knew the license plate of the vehicle. Auburn Records
department located a record of the vehicle by searching all the vehicles registered to
Blahak and told me the license plate was WA/AHP1651.
I checked the vehicle through WACIC/NCIC/DOL and it did not show as being
repossessed or impounded.
I completed an Auburn Police Department motor vehicle form, which Hughes signed.
I provided Hughes with a copy of the form and included the original in the case

It made me realize that things like violence, abuse, self harm that I read about are

Signs Your Home s Masonry Is Damaged And How It s Repaired If you live in an
older brick house that s showing its age through wear on the bricks and mortar, it
could be time to have masonry repairs done to protect your home. Damaged bricks
and mortar allow water to seep into the softer insides of the bricks and cause
damage that leads to cracking and further decay. Here are some signs your home
may need masonry repairs and how they might be done. Signs Of Masonry
Damage A primary cause of masonry damage is from water. The outside of the
bricks are hard and resist water, but the inside can soak it up like a sponge. When
water freezes in winter the bricks and mortar can crack. Small chunks of mortar may
fall out of the joints and parts of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Wait until the rain stops and then examine the bricks. If they are darker in some
places, it s probably because the bricks or mortar soaked up water. This is another
sign repairs are needed since water can do so much damage when it seeps into the
bricks. Process Of Repairing The Damage The first step is to determine the type of
mortar present in the joints. An older home may have a lime based mortar rather
than cement. If there s a question about the composition of the mortar, a small
sample is taken to be analyzed. It s important to choose a similar material so all the
joints have the same physical qualities and respond the same way to shifts in
temperature. The new mortar is also matched for color as best possible. If only
part of a wall is being repaired, then the repaired portion will be obvious if the new
mortar is a different color. When work begins, the old mortar is scraped out. This
might be done with a power tool, but it s often done by hand to avoid damaging the
bricks. After dust is cleared away, the new mortar is placed in the joints a layer at a
time and allowed to dry. It might be necessary to mist the joints frequently to keep
the mortar from drying out too soon. Once the new mortar is in place, the surface
might be scratched so it matches the rougher texture the old mortar has due to weather

because their body... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Two anoles on different islands can have similar traits as long as their ecological
niches are similar, however geographic isolation was the cause to have 3 different
species evolving. They might have evolved by having swam, floated on natural
rafts, or the islands may have been connected at one point. Therefore, lizards on the
same island are more closely related to each other than lizards that have similar
body shapes and live in the same type of habitat. Lizards from the same island are
more closely related to one another than to similar looking lizards from other
islands. For example, a grass bush anole from Puerto Rico is more related a trunk
ground anole also from Puerto Rico, than it is to a grass bush anole from
Hispaniola. This shows that the same type of anole lizards evolve independently
on each of the islands. However, there was a point in time whereas the anole
species from the four Caribbean islands all evolved from one common ancestor.
The cladogram produced shows that species from separate islands and ecomorphs,
for example the A. cybotes from Hispaniola and the A. occultus from Puerto Rico,
are more closely related to each other than they are to L. carinatus, which belongs to
a different genus of lizards. The DNA evidence gathered from anoles from the four
islands is able to determine the ancestry of a single species that inhabited the
Caribbean allowed for diversity of new species in the
28. The Impact Of Diversity On The Workplace
3.2. Positive impacts
The diversity has always been a concern for businesses and governments because the
minority can feel sometimes left out and excluded for the employment sector.
Therefore it has always been a priority for any government. They want to prove that
they have been elected and are representing the entire population not just a group of
people. Also businesses want to send a good image to their customers that they care
about everyone even the minority.
First of all, Kirton and Greene (2005) said that every company has the legal
obligation to promote diversity in the organisation in order to avoid social injustice
within the workplace and reduce disadvantages experienced by some minorities or
social group. It is important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
An organisation that promotes diversity shows their employees that they don t have
to worry about their ethnicity or cultural background in order for them to progress in
that company. Only relevant things like competency and the knowledge of the work
matter the most. (Bryan, 1999)
According to Triandis (1994), managing a diverse workforce means that the
company had to change their old ways of doing things and adjust to a new way
because that organisation needed to do more research and analysis in order to find
the right way or procedure that works best for everyone.
Leach, George and LaBelle (1995) have used to word working with diversity instead
of using the usual word managing . According to them, the word working sounds
much better because it is a way of showing respect to the diverse workforce instead
of using the term managing which sounds a bit pejorative. They believed so because
when someone says managing, it is like they are describing a sub group within that
organisation. Therefore, the company or organisation that promotes diversity need to
be very patient in order to observe and learn how to promote diversity in their
workplace.
After many examinations, Finney (1989) believed that companies did use diversity
in their workplace environment not only because they law required them to do so
but also because they did what was right for them in term of success, growth and also
to satisfy the demand of their

age at which Mr. Old Timer was raising his children, which was apparently when he

say 25 years old. That generation would have had multiple children by then. If he was
born in 1940, he would have been 25 years old in 1965. I would take data from his
geographic area from the years 1965 and 2010. Each group would have 20 people
who were under the age of twenty years old in each of the two years. They would

The outcome then depends on the data and information collected. While testing a
hypothesis, the researcher might commit type 1 or type 2 error because either the
null hypothesis or alternative hypothesis is rejected when it is true. Rejecting of
the null hypothesis will result in type 1 error; and alternative hypothesis in type 2
error. It is therefore important to allow room for possibility of committing either of
these errors as no study is perfect (Chang, 2011). Hypothesis I will formulate is
How does the level of parental involvement in children s lives affect the amount of
respect given and trouble caused in the past vs now.
To test this hypothesis, I would conduct a study of an acceptable sample size from a
population that best describes my study. I would then conduct a survey on a group
of parents from a decade to two decades ago and now; asking them questions
regarding their involvement with their child and the amount of respect given to them
from their children and how much troubled they caused. After the collection of my
data and my results are recorded, a statistical test should be done to determine
whether the difference between the parental involvements from a decade to two
decades ago versus the involvement now is affecting the amount of respect given and
trouble caused by their kids, and if is

movie the narrator, later to be known as Coach Bill Yoast s young daughter Sheryl,
discusses the transition from segregated schools to mixed races at T. C. Williams

smaller issues that are centered on the main issue of hatred of race, The african
American race to be more specific. When Coach Herman Booneis first introduced he
was reluctant to take this new job as head coach in Virginia even with being well
qualified because he was previously passed up for the same coach position in South

black people in his neighborhood. With the issues of desegregation flying around he

Coach Bill Yoast, Titans team captain Gary Bertier (and unofficial rallier of the white
football players), and Julius Campbell (the unofficial leader of the black athletes.)

One of the striking differences between the Knyghts Tale and the Millers Tale (which
is supposed to quit(e) the Knyghts Tale) is that of clothing (the former tale) and lack
of clothing (in the latter). Upon an inspection of the General Prologue s description
of the Knyght, I found that clothing is a very signifcant part of the Knyght s Tale.
Chaucers decription of him may forshadow (or, since Chaucer wrote the tales after
they were told, color his perceptions of the Knyght) the importance of clothing in the
Knyght s Tale. Special attention is paid to the Knyght s coatof mail.

But this ornament may in fact hinder the tale. When Chaucer began the Tales with the
Knyght s Tale, he was probably quite aware that he was going to borrow heavily from
other tales. ...Scholarship has uncovered and stressed his strong relationship to
conventional rhetoric... (Finlayson 133). Chaucer probably felt as if he was about to
be bound by the fact that he was borrowing from another tale (from Boccaccio s Il
Teseida delle nozze d Emilia), and that he would have to change it to make it his own.
The characters that he uses are bound by literary stereotypes and narrative function
which they fulfil rather than transcend or reject. (Finlayson 147). Chaucer transcends
the Romantic stereotype, but the characters don t. The characters are bound to
convention and the ornament of Romance, much like they are bound by thier clothes
that define them, keep them from true human (flesh) contact, and that ultimately
destroys them.

20th 21st Century Architecture and Architects
Architects draw and design buildings, houses, factories, offices, and other more
specific kinds of buildings. They spend a lot of their time working in an office
where they draw up plans and work with engineers and other architects. They also
visit construction sites to look over the development of projects to insure that their
customers wants and needs are met. In the year 2014 almost one in every five
architects were self employed.
There are usually three main steps to become a legally licensed architect you, first you
must complete degree in architecture, second you have to have experience with a
paid internship and you must have your bachelor s degree. For an average architect
the yearly salary is about $77,000 but this number is very flexible, it can vary from
$60,000 to $120,000. Architects might have problems with customers because the
customer was not clear on what they wanted or the architect did not fully understand
what the customer had to explain to the architect. Another problem is the time
allotted for the project to be finished maybe too short for the architect to finish in
time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Heart failure is a condition where the heart is unable to pump insufficient amount of
blood to supply the rest of the body. This is a consequence of ventricular remodelling.
Ventricular remodelling is a term that refers to alterations in structure, shape and
function of the left ventricle. (1) The activation of neuro hormonal systems such as
RAAS and the sympathetic nervous system are predominantly linked to the
pathophysiology of heartfailure. Therefore, interrupting this system is vital to
delaying the progression of heart failure. (2)

linked to the origin of Alzheimer s disease. Therefore, by using sacubitril it inhibits
the neprilysin enzyme by breaking down the beta amyloid plaques in the brain.
However, the vascular benefits of the drug may at the same time protect against
Alzhiemer s disease. For example, as the drug causes an increase in blood flow this
could speed up the clearance of the beta build up in the brain.
43. Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA)
Many debt collectors continue to use deceptive, unfair and abusive practices to
obtain money owed to a company. It is believed these practices lead to marital
instability, job losses, individual privacy invasions and personal bankruptcies, and
many feel protections in place fail to protect consumers. For this reason, the Fair Debt
Collection Practices Act (FDCPA) was put into place. Laws do vary by state, yet debt
collectors in every state must comply with this act when attempting to collect these
monies. For this reason, many turn to an attorney specializing in Collections Law for
assistance when they need to obtain compensation for an unpaid debt. One must be
aware, however, that this practice does not apply to commercial debt.

Much of The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende revolves around the life of one
of its main characters Esteban Trueba. Esteban Trueba is an aggressive, violent
character whose only goals throughout the novel are to achieve success and power.
The reader sees his brutal nature through the way he deals with people around him,
whom in his eyes are all significantly inferior. However, one minor character in The
House of the Spirits seems to change Trueba s aggressive nature. When Esteban first

When Esteban meets Transito for the last time, she is the owner of a huge hotel.
Everything she told him she would do, she did. Here there is a direct parallel
between the rise of Transito, and the fall of Esteban. There is almost a shift of
power between them. When Esteban meets Transito, he asks her to find Alba for
him, since she has been kidnapped by his grandson Esteban Garcia. He spilled his
heart to Transito Soto about everything that has gone on in his life since they last
met. He begs her to find his only granddaughter, so he can bring her home safe. She
does exactly what he asks of her. Esteban comments on her success saying, Transito
Soto has gotten where she has, because among other things, she knows how to pay
her debts. I supposed she used her knowledge of the most secret side of men in
power to return the 50 pesos I once lent her. (Allende, 421) Transito Soto s
character signifies distinct periods in Esteban s life. When he first meets her, he is
just starting out in Tres Marias. He is somewhat lost and has no one at his side.
When he meets her at the Christopher Columbus, he is at the peak of his financial

45. The Importance Of Confidentiality In Social Work
Confidentiality, privileged communication, and the duty to protect are important
aspects of the social work world. All of these things, that I have found, coincide with
our state laws and code of ethics main points. It is likely that they may have some
discrepancies, but in the end, they follow the same central rule. Confidentiality,
privileged communications and duty to protect is a huge aspect of being a social
worker and when need to make sure that we are following the laws so that we do not
get in trouble or a malpractice case filed.
Confidentiality
Confidentiality is one of the most important things concerning social work. Clients
confide in us and trust us with their information. They trust us and we should not
break that trust. The NASW Code of Ethics 1.07 (a) and (b) states, Social workers
should respect clients right to privacy... Once private information is shared, standards
of confidentiality apply... Social workers should protect the confidentiality of all
information obtained (2008). Our clients expect the privacy they deserve and the
Wyoming State Statues also agree that confidentiality is key. It states, Client
registration records and treatment records relating to persons receiving mental health
or substance abuse treatment at a treatment facility under contract with the
department shall remain confidential (2017). People really do depend on social
workers to maintain their privacy in which they disclose to us. Both the NASW Code
of Ethics and the State
46. How Enron Was A Company
Enron was a company that was known by many people and corporation not only in
the United States but also around the world. It grew to be one of the largest
companies, so as imaged a lot of people were affected by the fall of the company.
Over 210000 employees lost there jobs without even knowing what was coming to
them and what was going on behind the doors by the people who were running the
company. Apart from losing their job, their form of income for their families, they
also lost any money that they had invested in shares of the company and their pension
funds, because the company encouraged their employees to invest their money in its
own shares and also closer to the end they wanted their employees to invest even
more money.
Good business decisions are based in financial statements that are prepared by the
accounting firms or accountants within a company. When doing account for any
company they all follow a standard called GAAP (Generally accepted accounting
principles), GAAP provides guidelines and rules which companies use when
preparing their financials statements so that all company are on the same page as one
another. When Arthur Anderson accounting were preparing the financial statements
for Enron they were lying about the financial situation that the company was in, in
order to make the company look financial better than they really were. Nobody can
really put reasoning behind why they done this but everyone can make assumptions
on what was occurring and who
47. Cultural Imperialism In Africa
For centuries, powerhouses of the world have been dividing and conquering the lands
of the other. These imperialistic powers unearth the roots of the conquered lands and
utilize the resources for their own capitalistic benefit; however, the effects of
imperialism extend deeper than just taking advantage of the soil. There is the
physical subjugation of the land and the indigenous bodies that inhabit it, but there is
also a much more sinister method of conquering: cultural imperialism. Through the
systematic replacement of the original culture, the people of the conquered land lose
their sense of place in the world, thus imprisoning them in a cycle that seeps into the
coming generations like slow poison. This is exactly what Tayeb Salih is... Show

More often than not, modern societies, such as America and Britain, create this
false image of what is referred to as underdeveloped countries, specifically in the
east. This image, in essence, is a clear cut view that is perpetuated to further feed
into an overarching ideology, thus dehumanizing an entire population. The effects
of this ideology can be seen in day to day interactions, even when it comes to
intimate relations. A clear example of this is represented through Mustafa Sa eed
and his experiences as a student in Britain. He plays into the common stereotypes
that are maintained in western societies regarding Afro Arab men, which allows
him to lay in bed with multiple women. In one particular moment of the novel,
Mustafa describes the conversation that he had with a woman from the United
Kingdom. He uses his charms by honing into her already implemented view of
Afro Arab men and telling her that he is like Othello and that he lived so close to
the Nile that every night he was able to stroke the waters before sleeping (33). It is
evident that the woman was pleased by his exoticness so he continued to seek her
favor until he achieved his goal. In doing so, it can be said that he is challenging the
concept of orientalism through the usage of the stereotypes

50. What Is Polarization Sensitivity Of Hcg
to be explored .
Polarization sensitivity of HCG: As polarization selectivity is important in many
applications like VCSELs. It has been shown through the literature that most of the
research is done on the 1 dimensional HCGs. Because of the asymmetrical grating
profile for TE and TM polarizations, 1D HCGs are polarization sensitive. so they
can provide high reflectivity in a specific polarization at a particular wavelength. But
there is a need of Polarization insensitive HCGs. Polarization independent HCGs
requires two dimensional HCG. So there is a need to study the properties of 2 D
HCGs for polarization insensitivity.

2.4 Research Gaps
Not much work has been published on performance evaluation of HCG for
different values of angle of incidence and with different wavelengths. Also the
effect of polarization on the grating properties has not been explored yet [16]. Less
work has been done on tight optical confinement hollow waveguide with low
temperature dependence [52]. Older high index contrast grating based ultra low
loss hollow core waveguides are not cost effective because of the requirement of
long gratings necessary for wave guiding [53]. No report on hollow core waveguide
with high index contrast grating as top and bottom mirror inserted as lateral

On the basis of the understanding established from the initial study and literature
survey the
following objectives are proposed:
Design and simulation of a novel broad band and high reflective single layer high

It was a few months after the mighty sea beast; the Mother of Grendel had been
defeated. Beowulf and his trusty thanes had been celebrating in the mead hall
enjoying all of the fame and glory that killing the beast had given them. They drank
the finest wine from golden cups. The King and his thanes were living in absolute
royalty. It was at the peak of the night s darkness, fog covered the kingdom. The
town was fast asleep, the King and his thanes were also out cold. There was an

Beowulf, knowing the beast would strike again that night, gathered his thanes and set
out on a hunt. A hunt of which the prey was not known. They had no knowledge of
the mighty beast; they were unsure of what it looked like and where it lived. They
traveled across leagues of land, and they searched the sea until they could no longer
swim. They finally, after exhausting themselves for the entire day, trudged up the
mountains the only area of the land they had hoped to avoid. The mountains were an
unknown world to the geats. They had never been forced to travel on the dangerous
terrain. They knew those who entered never returned, but all of the thanes trusted
Beowulf. After all, he had given them everything they owned. So onward they moved
as the sky grew darker. The night was approaching; they knew they must find the
beast before it struck their town again. Beowulf silenced his thanes after hearing a not
so subtle movement. They felt the presence of something. They felt that it wasn t a
friend. Beowulf knew the beast was near. The beast knew Beowulf and his men were

RITE OF PASSAGE
It is three days before my initiation ceremony. The day Mama says I become a
woman. She is really happy about it and I m supposed to be, but I m not. I have tried
to delay this day for as long as possible, but this year Papa put his foot down. I am
already 17 years old and most girls go through the ceremony at 14. All the girls in my
age group have to go through this rite in order to make them eligible for marriage.
No woman in the village can get married without undergoing the rite of passage. It
is part of our tradition and the elders believe it ensures women do not stray from
their marital homes. They also believe you are unclean without it. People were
already starting to whisper about me as I was the last girl in my age group who not
gone through it and my friends tease and look down on me that I am not yet a woman.

53. Spoon River Anthology Analysis
Margaret, Fully a Slacker Everyone has a novel within them or at least thinks they
do. Unfortunately, few manage to get that novel out of their heads and into print.
In Edgar Lee Masters Spoon River Anthology, Margaret Fuller Slack is certain that
she would have been a famous novelist, except obligations to her family got in the
way of actually writing a book. She is unendingly bitter about how her life turned
out. Margaret urges readers to ignore the pull of outside forces and to specifically
ignore the pull of sex, which she claims ruined her life. However, between the lines
Masters cleverly shows that the blame for dreams unrealized lie with Margaret
herself. Through Margaret s story, Masters studies how a person can cause their own
unsuccess and still genuinely blame everyone but herself. From the very beginning,
Margaret establishes herself as a very talented writer, full of potential. Masters
introduces Margaret in three names: first, maiden, and last. Most women in the Spoon
River Anthologyare introduced in two, sometimes even taking their husband s full
name instead of their own. Here, he has Margaret grouping herself in with other
famous women writers, such as Harriet Beecher Stowe, as then modern women
authors who had individuality but who still respected the tradition of taking on their
husband s last name. Moreover, in the first line Margaret declares that she would
have been as great as George Eliot, who one of the leading writers of Victorian
England,
