Essays On God
Crafting an essay on the profound and intricate topic of "Essays on God" is no small feat. The
subject matter delves into the realms of philosophy, theology, and personal beliefs, presenting a
challenge that requires a delicate balance between reason, emotion, and respect for diverse
perspectives.
To embark on such a task, one must navigate through the vast sea of theological doctrines,
philosophical arguments, and cultural interpretations of the divine. The complexity lies not only
in the diversity of religious beliefs but also in the multitude of philosophical stances on the
existence and nature of God.
Additionally, addressing the deeply personal nature of faith and spirituality adds another layer of
complexity. Striking a chord that resonates with readers of various religious backgrounds, or
those who may hold atheistic or agnostic viewpoints, requires a nuanced approach. The essay
must transcend personal bias, fostering an environment that encourages critical thinking and
contemplation rather than imposing a singular perspective.
Moreover, the challenge extends to avoiding oversimplification of the subject matter. Given the
profundity of discussions surrounding God, the essay must navigate through the intricate details
without losing the thread of coherence and relevance. Balancing depth of analysis with clarity of
expression becomes paramount.

Environmental Leadership of IBM Essay
Factor: Environmental Leadership of IBM
IBM has not only succeeded in maintaining its competition in providing software,
computer technology and systems integrators, but IBM also successfully managing
its resource such as energy, water, and material, including waste product, thus
offering environmentally friendly products and services which have been recognized
by various parties and has received many awards (IBM Environment Report, 2012).

It has one of the most closely viewed institutionalized succession plans of any
company in the world. This was proven by the smooth transition of CEO
responsibility to Virginia Ginny Rometty from Sam Palmisano. Rometty is the ninth
CEO from the time when the company s founding and its first woman CEO. This
was no exclusion, as Lou Gerstner s handoff to Palmisano was another good case

In IBM s 2012 CEO Study, 71% of CEOs admitted that human capital is the key

Marshawn Lynch s Influence On American Football
As Seattle s star running back, Marshawn Lynch had his fair share of media time.
Also followed through his early years of football, Lynch had a love hate
relationship with the media. He hated the time he had to spend with them; they
loved every second of coverage they could share with the public. The interview that
was observed was Lynch s Super Bowl XLIX where Lynch gave one of the most
memorable interactions that fans had ever witnessed. Prior to this encounter, Lynch
had been fined thousands of dollars for failing to show up for a media day. As
Lynch arrived for the Super Bowl interview, he instantly pulled out his phone and
started a timer. He warned the media that he had to be there for only four minutes and

His quality seems to be his biggest ploy to encourage spectators to make their own
opinion of him. Because of his use of the other maxims, Beckham loses that ability
to move fans to think on their own. His abiding to relevance makes the interview
seem too rushed and forced, giving the impression that he wants the interview to end
as soon as possible. The flouting of quantity and manner was seen in the more
negative responses. With quantity, he would deny that anything that the media
recorded him saying and agree with others opinions when he previously so clearly
disagreed with. He seemed more untrustworthy in the way the media portrayed the
interview. With manner, he could not give clear, concise responses when he had to
cast blame or deny blame. This made Beckham seem nervous and unsure of what he
was saying. The media had complete control of how spectators would see things
although Beckham tried to adhere to the cooperation
Toxic Mold Essay
The subject of black mold gathered a lot of attention in the late 1990 s. Up to that
time, little attention had been given to this topic and there were few government
regulations regarding black mold.
According to the US EPA from their on line course (http://www.epa.gov/mold
/moldcourse/index.html), molds are organisms that may be found indoors and
outdoors. They are part of the natural environment and play an important role in the
environment by breaking down and digesting organic material, such as dead leaves.
Also called fungi or mildew, molds are neither plants nor animals; they are part of the
kingdom Fungi.
Evidence of mold in the home can be either visual or by odor, and evidence of an
indoor mold problem typically starts with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These factors include the degree or size of the mold colonies growing within a
residence, where they are located, and factors such as whether a person is allergic
to any particular type of mold. The more extensive the mold colony is, the higher
the dose to which you or a member of your family is exposed. Where one person
may have a severe reaction to a particular type of mold, another person may have
little or no reaction. Black mold has received the greater concern as some studies
have revealed more severe health effects when exposed to black mold.
The most effective response to mold is to first remove the source of moisture. Any
water leaks, such as roof or plumbing, should be repaired as soon as possible. In
some cases, fans are needed to help dry the affected areas. Once these areas are dry,
mold spores can be cleaned using a bleach mixture or other cleaning compounds
containing biocides specific to addressing mold contamination. It is important to
remember that personal protection should be used when cleaning mold
contamination to prevent breathing in or ingesting mold spores. It is also important
to note that any recurrence of water intrusion into a home or building will likely
result in return of the mold.
If there is a repeated or even a single exposure to mold, this may cause even non
sensitive people to become sensitive to mold. Allergic

the edge represent the cold air falling.
What is the Coriolis Effect?
When air undergoes a deflection from it s path, and it is a result of earth s rotation.
Which way does the Coriolis Effect bend the winds in the Northern Hemisphere?
The wind bends in the Northern Hemisphere to the right.
Which way does the Coriolis Effect bend the winds in the Southern Hemisphere?
The wind bends in the Southern Hemisphere to the left.
What factors determine how much the winds bend?
Factors that determine how much the winds bend are the latitude and the speed the
air is moving at.
Which hemisphere is shown and which way are the winds bending?
The Northern Hemisphere is shown. The winds are bending to the right.
Do winds blow faster or slower in Florida compared to the equator? Explain why.
Winds blow slower in Florida compared to the equator. This is because Florida winds
only blow 930 mph, and it is because of the Coriolis effect (slower speed = slower
wind).
Which way do hurricanes and tornadoes spin in the Northern Hemisphere?

Plant Hormone Lab Report
Introduction
Hormones are fundamental to the growth of an organism. Hormones are the chemical
substances that travel to various targets within an organism in order to start a cellular
response. Hormones are used for different aspects of growth. For example,
gibberellins impact stem elongation in plants. Auxin, another plant hormone, softens
and increase plasticity of the cell walls, which aides in the growth of the plant s size
and shape (Georgia State s Department of Biological Sciences, 2015). There are
several types of auxins including natural and synthetic versions. In this lab we are
testing synthetic and natural auxins to observe which concentration of either
hormone will promote better plant growth. Plants are vital to life on ... Show more

The bottle was then inverted four times to ensure mixture. Due to the shortage of
glass bottles the NAA was prepared slightly differently. We only measured out the
microliters of NAA on water days and mixed the concentration with deionized
water in graduated cylinders. In order to keep the concentration of the solutions
the same, we measured out 10 microliters of NAA and mixed it in a graduated
cylinder of 100 milliliters. Concentrations of both solutions were .01 mL. A total
of 15 red beans was split evenly into three plastic circular containers and filled with
regular soil. The three containers were labeled with tape and titled. The containers
were watered with their respective solution, one with IAA dilution, one with NAA
dilution, and the last container as a control and watered with deionized water only.
The seeds were watered with 100 milliliters with their respected solution three
times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays for five weeks. The seeds
were watered together every water day, even though the time per water day differed
throughout the duration of the experiment. The containers were stored on a shelf
with no overhead grow light. The conaitners received light from the classroom s
light as well as the other overhead grow lights that surrounded the shelf for the entire
experimental period. Observations were recorded once a week on Monday. When

Rene Descartes Meditations on First Philosophy
In Rene Descartes, Meditations on First Philosophy, Descartes does and experiment
with wax to try to prove that things actually exist in this world. This essay is going
to prove how we can tell that things actually exist and what can perceive the wax.
Rene Descartes starts off with a description of the wax so he can prove to us the
changes that will happen throughout his experiment.
Let us take, for instance, this piece of wax. It has been taken quite recently from
the honeycomb; it has not yet lost all the honey flavor. It retains some of the scent
of the flowers from which it was collected. Its color, shape, and size are manifest. It
is hard and cold; it is easy to touch. If you rap on it with your ... Show more content

He then tells us his final perspective on how he perceives the wax. It remains then for
me to concede that I do not grasp what this wax is through the imagination; rather, I
perceive it through the mind alone. (Descartes, 22) He ends his argument on how
he perceives the wax with telling us that it is not our imagination that grasps all of
the perceptions of the wax, but the mind that does it. Rene Descartes just proved to
us that our imagination is not able to grasp all of the perceptions of the wax but
the mind is. After proving that theory he suddenly starts to doubt his proof. But
meanwhile I marvel at how prone my mind is to errors. (Descartes, 22) He states
that his mind is prone to making errors. For example; For we say we see the wax
itself, if it is present, and not that we judge it to be present from its color or shape.
(Descartes, 22) He thinks a mistake our minds make is when we judge that it is
wax by just looking at it and not paying any attention to any of the forms. For this
reason he is claiming that he still is not sure that the mind can actually perceive the
wax due to it making mistakes. Back to what Rene Descartes said earlier about the
imagination not being able to grasp all of what we need to perceive about the wax.
He told us the imagination was unable to grasp it all but now
Charles Dickens Search For Money In Great Expectations
My dream was out; my wild fancy was surpassed by sober reality; Miss Havisham
was going to make my fortune on a grand scale (Dickens 146). Charles Dickens,
author of the novel Great Expectations, illustrates a scene in which Pip, the young
protagonist, ponders about the things he will be able to do with the fortune he just
received. His unrealistic expectations soon lead him astray and cause him to make
mistakes he never would have otherwise. With Pip s regretful actions in pursuit of
receiving riches from his secret benefactor, Joe s value of friendship over fortune,
and Biddy s wisdom despite her poverty, Charles Dickensshows that material wealth
does not improve one s morals. In his quest for wealth, Pip makes foolhardy choices,

It may have been about a month after my sister s reappearance in the kitchen, when
Biddy came to us with a small speckled box containing the whole of her worldly
effects, and became a blessing to the household (Dickens 130). Selflessly, Biddy
comes to help Pip s family care of the ailing Mrs. Joe. Biddy s invaluable assistance
without any expectation for material compensation elaborates that her cordial
manners are not influenced by wealth. You know best, Pip; but don t you think you
are happier as you are? (Dickens 135). Strolling leisurely outside, Biddy gives Pip
canny advice by discouraging him from becoming super wealthy. Biddy believes
that money cannot make one truly happy. Her prudent guidance displays Biddy as
wise and helpful even without the use of money, which adds on to Dickens theme
that wealth does not help one have better morals. Her kindness to Pip s family and
her astute suggestions to Pip demonstrate Biddy s grounded principles as part of the
theme that one s prosperity does not determine

Wood describes that the idea of being part of something bigger than the mundane
life of the everyday working class is the main factor as to why people join ISIS
(2015). To further back up Wood s idea, a NBER study (by economists Efraim

per capita there is also a 1.5 percent increase in the likelihood of the country s
citizens to join ISIS. This study goes on to say that it is not the politically oppressed

decide what countries tend to have citizens that join ISIS are: one: the amount of
Muslims in the country, and two: those where the religious and ethnic minorities feel
that their host countries do not accept them (2016). ISIS exploits this to their
advantage and uses many techniques to recruit
Animals In Maus By Spiegelman
In Maus, Spiegelman uses animals to represent different races and nationalities: the
Jews were represented as mice, the Polish as pigs and the Germans as cats.
According to the World War II history, we are not surprised that why Spiegelman
drew Jews as mice, and Germans as cats. As we all know, cats always trap mice. They
are more strong, aggressive and fierce. However, mice are helpless, and always hide
away from cats, in order to escape from killing. In World War II, a total of
approximately 6,000,000 European Jews were murdered under the direction of the
Nazis, it came to be known as the Holocaust. Germans persecuted Jews just as cats
would do to mice. Readers must not be surprised about symbolizing the Jews and
Germans by portraying them ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The characters in story just like the audience themselves in reality. On the other
hand, when writers drew pictures in a simple way, readers may take more
attention to the words or the contents, especially when the writer are declaring
about facts. For example, if characters were drawn realistically, readers may pay
more attention about the pictures. This kind of drawing style may be more
suitable for martial arts comics, because in this kind of comics, pictures tell more
story than words. However, Maus is a fact based comics, therefore, words seem
more important than picture. Words tell more story than pictures in this situation.
Sometimes, when the pictures tell more story than the words, Spiegelman tended
to draw more realistically, for example, the entrance of Auschwitz labour camp
(see fig.2). McCloud s theory may apply to some of the comics, but I am not
totally agree with him. Since many of us have not experienced World War II, we
cannot truly and deeply understand the feelings of the characters. It is not a general
story which always happened in daily life, however, there has a very specific and
fact based story behind the comics. Therefore, even the writer drew the characters in
a simple style, most of us still cannot become them. Therefore, Maus maybe an
exception for his
The Four Objects In Ancient Egyptian Religion
The four objects I have picked set a tone on what Ancient Egyptian religion was
like. Ancient Egyptian religion was not based on a set of theological Ideals, but they
were more connected to nature and the elements or even animals. As you can see I
have chosen four different animals and all are associated with Egyptian religion. Each
of these animals plays a very important role in Ancient Egyptian lifestyle and how
they could all be connected.
The first object I picked was the Head of a calcite figure of a cow . This is
supposed to represent the animal manifestation of the goddess of the west, Hathor.
The Head of a calcite figure of a cow is coloured white because it represents
omnipotence and purity. Hathor was well known as the goddess of fertility and the
reason for this is that he is the protectress of pregnant women and midwives. She was
the patron of all women and it did not matter what stages they were in their lives.
The second object I have picked was the cat statue, and the cat is related to the
goddess Bastet. Bastet was the protective goddess and she tends to protect homes ...

you can notice on the right side of the Pharaoh is a dog. This dog shows that it is
loyal and willing to protect its master at any cost. This dog is like a representation
of the god Anubis. Anubis is shown in a form of a jackal and is associated with
weighing hearts of the dead for Osiris and by doing that it can show whether a
person has a true heart or not. Therefore, that is why it was shown in the sketch,
giving a message that dogs are loyal animals that they are good at judging whether

title requires a person to bowdlerize information before it reaches the president s

within the White House, as well as spot when other officials are trying to cozen the
president. Basically, he/she serves as the president s right hand man/woman on a

his earliest creations is almost humanlike with the way he acts. He is Montgomery s

Planning A Wedding Is Not An Easy Task Essay
Have you ever wondered how an Olympic Games Opening and closing Ceremony

Princess Diana said I do ? Or have you ever stood at, watched an open concert of
your favorite artist? Behind all of these and more, event managementprofessionals
work tirelessly to create the best experience possible for the guests, the stars, the

Many people spend more time in planning their wedding than they do in planning

that day. A well executed wedding can bring joy to every one including the couple.
But a flawed event can create serious trouble in both parties including their parents,
family and friends. The festive aspect of a wedding makes the planning even more
necessary. If you are meticulous about this, you will guard against the majority of
unexpected surprises. Firstly, the atmosphere. Wedding planning should not
The Role Of Shaman Hermes In Greek Mythology

Difference between Text Messaging and Abbreviations
Social media sites such as Twitter only allow a limit of 140 character per tweet.
This limits the amount of words you can use in a tweet. This forces the users to get
their ideas across in the shortest way possible. For many, this results in the use of
text talk. This is a type of shorthand and it creates a whole new language consisting
of abbreviations. LOL, BRB, SMH and TTYL are a few examples of the
abbreviations from this text talk language, theses terms are used every day
amongst teens. These text terms add more to a sentence and in text more then just
a simple abbreviation for a word or phrase. Abbreviations as short has three letters
can add a whole new tone to what is said over a text massage. LOL (laugh out loud)
for example is used to add a joking or playful tone to a messages almost like a type

A localized condition of swelling, growth or bump on the bottom of your foot may
be cause for attention. This may be caused by injury, infection or inflammation.
These bumps may be small or large and may have mild or severe pains that are
associated with them. This article will explain possible causes, treatment, and
prevention for bumps on the bottom of your feet.
Possible Causes
1. Blisters
When friction causes two layers of your skin to separate, a blister is formed.
Blisters may appear in size ranging from the size of acne to three inches in diameter.
The raised portion of the blister is filled with liquid that your body has heal the

continue to spread even after treatment. These are normally have the diameter of half

Warts will generally disappear over time, but they can be unsightly or uncomfortable
and you may want to remove them earlier. Liquid nitrogen can be purchased over the
counter or administered by a medical professional. Laser surgery may also remove
the wart. Some people have found that covering the wart for a week with a band aid
or duct tape will weaken the wart. Do not attempt to cut off or cauterize the wart, as
there are safer and more efficient means to remove it.
The best way to prevent a wart is to protect your skin from foreign interaction. It is
important to remember that a removed wart does not mean that the virus has left
your body. In time, your body should destroy the virus. The best thing to do is
remove the warts as they develop and wait it out.

Analysis Of Lynda Gratton And Erik Brynjolfson s Career
Within our contemporary society, individuals are constantly changing in order to hold
their jobs. The continuous development of technology is a threat to workers as it
causes individuals to be apprehensive of machines that can replace their careers.
Emma Jacobs, who interviewed five individuals for the Financial times, demonstrates
distinct perspectives on the most efficient method to approaching an obstacle in one s
career. Lynda Gratton and Erik Brynjolfsson believe that one must change as
technologygradually develops by attaining certain skills and having a new
perspective towards a career they adore. Meanwhile, Martin Ford believes that only
the government can assist individuals on how to future proof their career.
Nonetheless, even... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Therefore, Gratton provides helpful advice to future proof one s career.
Erik Brynjolfsson also provided good advice because he portrays that one must
embrace change in order to keep their job. For instance, Brynjolfsson initially
considers the fact that technology creates jobs, but he also believes that it destroys
jobs as well. Brynjolfsson states that new innovations promote overall wealth and
income, which would benefit the economy. The reader is able to identify that
Brynjolfsson is illustrating the benefits of the advancement of technology in order to
emphasize how it causes individuals to lose their jobs to machines. In response,
Brynjolfsson believes that humans must change by learning how to perform the tasks
that they can do better than machines, by adopting skills such as motivation,
persuasion, nurturing and caring. One is able to comprehend that Brynjolfsson
advices individuals to attain these qualities in order to apply them to their careers
and surpass the functions a machine can complete in order to keep their jobs.
Likewise, to Lynda Gratton, Brynjolfsson also believes that one must constantly learn
to keep their job. He conveys that by attaining the skills required to survive and
preparing for the future,
Better to Betray My Country and Not My Friend
We as human beings all have choices. Many of the choices we make can affect us
for the rest of our lives. Among the more important decisions a person will ever
have to face is that of betrayal. Often times we are in a situation in which we must
chose sides: Whom to betray? , and in this case, the options are friend or country. I
agree with E. M. Forster s view on personal relations and patriotism, believing that I
hope I should have the guts to betray my country (Forster) over my friend. A person
should always and one might even say has a duty to place his conscience or the
moral laws he has set for himself over any conflicting manmade law. Many examples
throughout history have set precedents for this sort of behavior.... Show more content

Her intent was not to cause chaos. Her intent was not to disrespect Creon. She
knew the only way her brother could receive respectful passage to an afterlife was
if he received proper burial. Her religious beliefs and strong love did not allow her
to remain passive and not act to help her brother. Antigone s moral standards
obligated her to betray her country in order to help her brother. For these reasons,
Antigone was justified in breaking the law and betraying her country. There are,
however, situations in which betraying one s country is unjustified. When a person
or group violently and disrespectfully breaks a law, such as the Weather
Underground did in their protest of the lack of attention being given to the Vietnam
War, their actions are unjustified. Now let us distinguish between an unjust action
and an unjust cause. The Weathermen were in my opinion morally justified to go
against the government and protest the war in Vietnam (obviously protest is very
different than betrayal, but for the sake of an example ...). This was their morally
justified cause. By bombing buildings and bashing glass, they proceeded to act
unjustly and were at fault. Nevertheless, the Weather Underground was right in
placing their personal beliefs over their country. The opposition might say that one s
duty us to his country and not his own selfish desires, and they may be partially
right. If it was just a selfish desire such as wealth or fame,
American Society Today
The society of America today is total different for most Americans then what it was

the leader of the free world is Black some thing that many though would never happen

still mostly full of uneducated black people. Black men in America are four times

All these things add together like lack of jobs , poor education and health care meant
that these areas became ghettos.
With these ghettos came crime. People couldn t get jobs and they still need to pay

problem in these areas. Using and supplying of drugs became easer in the cite
ghettos with the lack of police in the areas. And with the drugs came crime. The
situation was not helped when people could buy a news paper just as easy as a

America. In the 1970s 30 per cent of America crimes were reported by six cites in
America that only had 12 per cent of the total population of America. And these cites
had large black ghettos and populations.
Much of the crime in America was drug related. This had a ripple effect on the

The governments tried tackle the issue by building urban house for the people of

In this paragraph I argue that ideal Roman women preserved their honor by
maintaining their household duties and being loyal. Lucretia s many qualities give
the prize of this contest in womanly virtues to Lucretia (Rogers 117), indicating the
ways in which model Roman women should act. Lucretia demonstrates basic
household responsibilities, such as spinning wool (Rogers 117). Lucretia is seen as
an ideal and honorable Roman woman. Producing wool fulfills a household duty and
provides a characteristic of an ideal woman. Therefore, being an ideal woman is
being an honorable woman. Acting as a courteous host is another responsibility and
ideal for women. Tarquin was hospitably welcomed,
Dinosaurs And Birds Essay
Dinosaurs and Birds
Are birds really dinosaurs or are they simply related? That is a question that has
gained new life in recent years due to the overwhelming facts the are pouring in
from newly found fossils and studies from fossils that have been found in the past.
Two groups have formed in the study of this question: those who believe birds are a
direct result of dinosaurs and those who feel dinosaurs and birds must have had a
common ancestor. Determining which view is correct is a matter of opinion based
on fact. The main problem involves the use of cladistics or phylogenetic systematics
to group organisms according to characteristics they share. When one looks at
dinosaur fossils, he or she may feel that certain ... Show more content on

Also, support is gaining that Archaeopteryx was not in fact the first bird, but instead
a descendent of an earlier bird ancestor that had developed along a different pathway
and actually represents an evolutionary dead end.
Two opponents of the birds are dinosaurs theory are Alan Feduccia of the
University of North Carolina and Larry Martin of the University of Kansas. They
believe that birds evolved from some unknown reptile from a time before dinosaurs
came to be. One point they make is that flight must have begun from tree climbing
or an arboreal ancestor but that all the proposed dinosaurian ancestors were ground
dwellers or cursorial On the other side, supporters for the birds are dinosaurs theory
feel there is an unknown dinosaur bird that was arboreal, or simply that birds evolved
flight from the ground by chasing after insects.
In recent years other fossil finds have stirred the argument even more. One of these
is the fossil named Sinosauroptyrex found in China. It appears to be an important
link between birds and dinosaurs. Sinosauropteryx appears to be a feathered
dinosaur having a mane of feathers along its neck, back, and tail a feature until then
seen only in birds. Sinosauroptyrex appears before Archaeopteryx and gives a
substantial link between the theropods and birds. One opponent of this find is Martin

History Of UPS Corruption
The international brotherhood of teamsters was founded in 1907. Early on the
teamster union was known for being a corrupt organization even having ties to
organized crime. Union leaders and organizers were involved in illegal activities such
as embezzlement, racketeering, taking bribes, assault and vandalism. This type of
behavior in the organization lasted for many years prompting the government s
involvement in an attempt to expose the corruption. A committee was formed to
investigate the union activities and along with its findings the Teamsterspresident was
forced to retire and Jimmy Hoffa was elected as president even though he was as
corrupt as the previous president. Teamster for a Democratic Contract and Teamsters

At this point UPS had become a very successful and powerful company with profits
in the billions. Years prior to this there had been a pretty close division of full and
part time workers. But, that had begun to change and the part time workers had
greatly increased and were only paid 8 to 9 dollars and hour. The company of
course, felt quite confident that it had some leverage in the negotiations of a new
contract. They were pretty secure that the Teamster were having problems with
finances because the union had to use union funds to finance the oversight of the
government over the union, as well as the fact that Carey who was still union
president, had led several strikes already (Leumer, 2007). UPS was ready and some
of their demands were they wanted to make full time positions part time, vacation,
holiday and personal days would be decreased and they even wanted to hire self
employed drivers for the highway which would eliminate some union jobs. Well the
union and Ron Carey was also ready, they had prepared for the negotiations a year in
advance. They had workers to fill out a questionnaire to find out what was important
to them concerning their jobs and they overwhelmingly stated that it was the need for
full time positions. The teamsters made that issue their number one demand (Leumer,

Background
The educational context
The study focused on students taking a module entitled Psychological Perspectives
in Nursing. This module is a compulsory part of a preregistration diploma in the
nursing course and covers three semesters. A variety of features made the module
suitable for the present purpose. The module has a very large enrolment, it is mainly
delivered by lectures although students can seek one to one academic support, and it
is assessed summatively by essay format. Empirical evidence suggests that such an
educational context affects the quality of student learning and subsequent
performance. For example, large class size negatively affects student performance
(Raimondo et al. 1990, Fearnley 1995, Gibbs et al. 1997), student teacher
interactions and class discussions (Mahler et al. 1986, Raimondo et al. 1990). Also, a
lecture format retards the development of higher level cognitive skills, including deep
approaches to learning

Speech On Animal Poaching
Animal Poaching
Animal poaching has a bigger price tag than the trophy sitting on the shelf. Poaching
is causing iconic animals of many continents and of our oceans to become
endangered or even extinct. These animals that people have come to love and
fantasize over may be gone before we are (Africa). Elephants, rhinos, lions, and
zebras are the animals thought of the most when it comes to animal poaching, but
many animals are poached. They are killed for only one quality, like their horns or
skins and the rest of the animal is left behind. Poaching is a massive business that
is ran by international networks, it s estimated to make hundreds of millions of
dollars (World). Not all wildlife trade is illegal, but it becomes a crisis when an
increasing amount of illegal poaching is done and it directly threatens the survival of
species in the wild (World). Since 1960 97.6% of the Black Rhino population in
Africa has been poached and lions are extinct in seven African countries (Africa).
Poaching is a worldwide problem because it is affecting the whole food chain,
including humans. A year after a logging road went into forest areas in Sarawak,
Malaysia, in 2001, not a single large mammal remained (Begley). If one animal goes
extinct, then a snowball effect will happen because the animal that depended on the
extinct animal for food will have a harder time getting food and eventually that
species will die off also, leaving us humans with very little food choices in our future.
Repetition in David Lves Plays Words, Words, Words and...
David Ives really experiments with repetition throughout all of his plays. Two
examples of these plays would be Words, Words, Words and Sure Thing Form his
collection of plays called All in the Timing. There are many different examples of
repetition in each play. Ives repeats one certain thing and makes this repetition mean
many different things. In Sure Thingthere is the repetition of the bell, which represent
how we tend to make snap judgments on people, and how we all strive for
perfection. He also uses the repetition of the words sure thing to represent how
nothing in life can really be considered a sure thing. In contrast in Words, Words,
Words Ives uses the repetition of the Monkeys typing to represent how sometimes
luck gets us to where we need to be. Ives also uses the repetition of Milton exhibiting
typical Monkey behavior to show how we can repetition as a form of manipulation
The bell rings twenty eight times in Sure Thing. Every time Bill says something
that Betty does not find desirable the bell will ring and Bill gets another chance to
woo her. Ives uses the repetition of the bell ringing to show how we as humans
make snap judgments on people. As soon as we learn one fact about a person we
base everything they say on that one fact and that it is very hard to come back from
a bad first impression. Bill s ability to gage Betty s reaction allows him to manipulate
her to make himself seem more desirable. This results in him succeeding and them

Lead Poisoning In Children Essay
Lead poisoning in children was first revealed in 1890 in Queensland, Australia.
The lead source was not acknowledged until 1904 when a researcher tracked it to
the paint used on railings and porches. The first detection of lead poisoning in the
United States was in 1914, this was discovered when a child had consumed lead
based paint off of his crib. At this moment, doctors linked to lead poisoning as a
cause of convulsions in children. As research improved and more children were
discovered with excessively high lead levels, symptoms caused by lead were
expanded to include lead meningitis, acute encephalopathy, intellectual dullness,
reduced consciousness, seizures, comas, and death (Chisholm, 1982). Lead
poisoning results from the accumulation of lead in the blood and body tissues of
those individuals that are often exposed to lead. As one of the most common and
best recognized childhood diseases of toxic environmental origin, children around
the world today are at risk of exposure to lead from numerous sources. Lead
poisoning accounts for about 0.6% of the global burden of disease (WHO, 2009).
Lead poisoning is most prevalent in kids between the ages of 1 and 2 years. Its
adverse effects are furthermore the utmost devastating among this age group. Lead is

From conception forward, children have a larger risk of exposure and greater
susceptibility to the toxic effects of lead than do adults. Children are at increased
risk of exposure to lead because they: eat more food, drink more water and breathe

Environmental Health, 2003), are more likely to have nutritional deficiencies that
lead to increased absorption of lead (Mahaffey, 1995), and lastly are exposed to lead

The Black And Black British Diaspora
Critically examine the ways through which the Black British diaspora has been
imagined and represented by the theorisations of Paul Gilroy and others. Why does
Gilroy (and others) suggest his notion of The Black Atlantic as useful for re
imagining black identities?
Introduction
This essay will analyse the concept of The Black Atlantic by sociologist Paul Gilroy.
Written almost 20 years ago, it is an important concept which has been celebrated as
instrumental in the re imagining of black culture. Its framework will be examined by
referencing its history and exploring some of its influences from other theorists such
as Stuart Hall. Following this contextual background, its impact will be discussed on
its significance to the black ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Challenging the taboo between the integration of white and black, it theorised a new
modernity of hybridity in culture over the transatlantic space, shaping a new
transnational concept. Gilroys theory aimed to get rid of the sociological imagination
of race and instead appreciate the cultural heritage and influence of people. This
spawned new arguments, theories and research, which helped to combine areas in a
new age of interdisciplinary subjects; influencing the study of sociology, geography,
politics, anthropology, art and many other areas. Gilroy specifically shows a very
deep connection to music and creativity, demonstrating how these traits make a
profound transformation in society. For example, the evolution of music represents
how the deep rooted pain of black culture has mixed with the romanticised white
culture in a hybrid form to create something new. This expressed interest focused on
a select few avant garde individuals, who connected to this African transatlantic
blackness and these intellectuals inspired his main concepts such as W.E.B. De Bois
theory of double consciousness , which Gilroy has added as a subtext to his book.
Concentrating on his influence on the state of the black british diaspora, Gikandi

Lack Of Reason In Lord Of The Flies, By William Golding
Lack of Reason and Increasing Savagery
Human nature is complex, filled with unpredictability and flaws. As seen in Lord of
the Flies, by William Golding, the darker side of humanity is revealed in times of
survival and conflict. Throughout the novel, the boys on the island become
increasingly barbaric and violent when they are faced with dire situations. Through
the escalating tension surrounding the symbolic nature of Piggy s glasses and its
representation of the boys rationality, William Golding conveys the message that lack
of reason brings out the innate savage side of human nature.
Piggy s glasses are symbolic of the boys humane side and their reason. At the start
of the novel, the boys on the island seem to be pleasant people and they understand
the importance of starting a signal fire to be rescued. The boys are rational and are
fighting for survival. The glasses are still in tact; they are going to be used to help
the boys create a signal fire. Ralph speaks to the boys, exclaiming His specs use
them as burning glasses! (Golding 40), showing that they want to return to society
because they are using their resources at hand to start a fire and be rescued. They
still have reason due to the fact they try to send a signal for rescue and would rather
be rescued than accept a new life on the island. The glasses are in one piece,
symbolizing their rationality is present and held together at the beginning of their
journey. The low tension is among the boys and who
Examples Of Narrative In The Thousand Faces Of Night
CHAPTER IV
Narrative technique in Githa Hariharan s The Thousand Faces of Night:
Narration is the telling of a story, and Narrative is the way you tell stories. It s the
glue that ties your creators to the to the plot events in your story. As well as elements
like scene setting, narrative includes description, so we ll deal with these features
together.
A storyteller uses narrative to tell the story _to relate what s fashionable, give a point
of view, and explain events, characters , responses, and so on. Narrative exists above
and beyond the plot and characters, though in a film or novel for example, narrative
can tell us things that the characters themselves do not know.
Hariharan, the internationally acclaimed Indo English writer has secured an enviable
position for herself among ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But it is not Devi s description alone that finds experience in it; the novelist has
entrenched so many other stories which are related to real life, to mythical page
(told by her grand mother, pati), to the life of musicians and about the females
ideal role (told by her father in law) as well. The variety of stories does not create
any harm to the meaning of the story and the aim of the novelist because the
skilfully interwoven plots give each other considerable meaning. The revolving
point of the story is Devi s life with all the mythical stories. All these are
inseparable part of the novel as all these stories and the real stories (connected with
these mythical narrations) present a glimpse of what will go on in the life of Devi
and put in the picture the truth of females fate in the patriarchal society. The novel
causes the readers encounter with the truth that how so ever the female get
educational capacities, how so ever the society may become modernised; but the
females will be exploited in all the ages and their condition will remain as still as it
was years ago during the mythical
How We Listen Essay
How We Listen In his essay How We Listen, Aaron Copland classifies and divides
the listening process into three parts: the sensuous place, the expressive plane, and
the sheerly musical plane (1074). I believe by this mechanical separation, Copland
succeeds in discussing difficult topic, so natural that most people tend to by pass
it. He uses analogy and sometimes stresses on certain situation where these planes
are abused or become a cause of a problem. The main purpose for Copland to
separate the listening process is for the reader to learn and study how they listen.
Copland s success in the clarification mainly because of two methods: (1)
Categorizing the listening process in different parts and use an analogy to unite it to...

This issue is very philosophical and one must accept the train to understand this plane.
The next plane deals with the manipulation of the notes and offers a more intellectual
approach in enhancing musical appreciation. The actual structure of the music as such
the length of the note, pitch, harmony, and tone color are emphasized in this section
of the essay. This basic study of the structure is a must to form a firm foundation in
the musical piece and to understand the diagnosis of it. This technical and more
scientific plane is contradictory to the philosophical sensuous plane. Therefore, it is
another good technique of Copland to write one right after the other to cover the
whole listening process.
After expounding his theory on the way we listen, Copland uses the analogy of a
theoretical play to drive the point home. This is yet another good technique used by
Copland: allowing him to clearly demonstrate the interrelating of the three planes.
Regarding the ideal listener, Copland says:
In a sense, the ideal listener is both inside and outside the music at the same
moment, judging it and enjoying it, wishing it would go one way and watching it
go another almost like the composer at the moment he composes it; because in order
to write his music, the composer must also be inside and outside his music, carried
away but it and yet coldly critical of it. (1078)
It is obvious that in Copland s view the best approach consists of
Ww1 Causes
The Great War, also known as World War One was between July 28th, 1914 and
November 11th, 1918. This was considered one of the worst wars ever fought, it
lasted 4 years, 3 months and 2 weeks. World War One consisted of Trench warfare.
Trench warfare was warfare which the armies attack, counterattack, and defend from
a system of trenches dug into the ground. To spark this horrific war was the
assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand who was an Archduke of Austria este.,
Austro Hungary, Royal Price of Hungary and of Bohemia. The long term causes of

Due to secret alliance created between nations, it is inevitable that a disagreement
between two nations will lead to the involvement of many nations, who already
secretly agreed to help each other. This is why alliances is a cause of World War
One. Two major alliances before WW1 was the Triple Alliance and the Triple
Entente which consisted of Russia, France and Great Britain. The Triple Entente
was created to counter the Triple Alliance, which consisted of Germany, Austria
Hungary and Italy. In the beginning of the war, the Triple Alliance will be known
as the Central Powers not including Italy because Italy finds in their best interest to
wait and see how the war unfold and go to the winning side to allow them to grow
as a nation. The Central Powers will sooner or later consist of the Ottoman Empire,
German Empire, Austro Hungary and the Kingdom of Bulgaria. The Triple Entente
will eventually be known as Allied Powers and grow remarkably, consisting of

The Benefits Of Genetic Counseling
What is genetic counseling? What is a genetic counselor? Those questions and more
are some things I remember thinking about in my sophomore year chemistry class. I
was so intrigued, yet I had no idea what any of it meant. At the time, I had no idea
how common they were, and just how much genetics advanced every day while I was
clueless.
Our genes are what make us who we are. Humans share 99.5% of our DNA with each
other. That means that every piece of DNA that makes us different is only .5% of
our total DNA. A nucleus is a large organelle of a cell that holds almost all of the
cell s DNA (Tortora, Grabowski). In the nucleus of every human cell, DNA is tightly
packaged into a structure called a chromosome (U.S. National Library of Medicine).

By definition, genetics is a term that refers to the study of genes and the role genes
play inheritance: the way traits and conditions are passed down from parent to
offspring. Genetics help families and medical professionals understand why diseases,
like sickle cell anemia and cystic fibrosis, are inherited and what to do about these
diseases. (National Human Genome Research Institute). These diseases are caused by
mistakes in DNA, or mutations. Genetic counselors use different tests to find these

Chemical Kinetcs – the Hydrolysis of Pna Ester
Chemical Kinetcs The hydrolysis of PNA Ester
Introduction: Reaction of a compound with water can result in a splitting, or lysis,
of the compound into two parts. Organic molecules containing a group of atoms
called an ester can be hydrolyzed by water to form a COOH group (carboxylic acid)
and an HO group (alcohol) as follows:
RCOOR + H2O ( RCOOH + HOR
This reaction is spontaneous for almost all esters but can be very slow under typical
conditions of temperature and pressure. The reaction occurs at a much faster rate if
there is a significant amount of base (OH ) in the solution. In this lab experiment, the
rate of this reaction will be studied using an ester called para nitrophenyl acetate
(PNA), which produces an alcohol, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The Literary Genre Of 2 Peter
The literary genre of 2 Peter is an epistle written to the main personalities, an
implied group of believers in Asia Minor and other places around that region. The
author is the Apostle Peter a dedicated servant and disciple of Jesus. The date that
the letter was written has some controversy, however, in his correspondence Peter
mentions that his life is coming to an end, and Peter was martyred for his faith in
Rome about A.D. 64 67. Therefore, establishing the date of Peter s second letter
within that time frame. Peter wrote out of love to defend and protect the
immutable word of God. The letters main purpose was to warn fellow devotees
about false teachers that would try to enter their churches and mislead them in
their faith. Peter goes on to explain the false teachers can be recognized by their
prideful behavior, their love of money, and disrespect to God. (Life Application
Study Bible 1507,1918) Peter uses instances from the past, such as Sodom and
Gomorrah and the great flood to stress the judgment and punishment that will come
to unbelievers who reject God. The apostle also warns that there will be those that
will mock God and dismiss the second coming of Christ. He advises the believers to
have confidence in the promises, prophecies, and principles given through God s
inspired word. (Hindson, Towns) Peter cautions God will return without warning and
find individuals unwary. However, Peter reasons that God is patient and delays His
return for unbelievers, not
Cowboys Case Study
An inept passing game proved to be the deciding factor in the Cowboys fifth
straight loss. In his second start, Matt Cassel competed 13 of 25 passes for a mere
97 yards against the Seahawks. Defensively, DC Rod Marinelli s unit mitigated the
play fakes of the Seahawks read option concepts, but it wasn t enough for the
Cowboys, who lost 13 12 in another hard fought battle. The last time the Cowboys
won a game was against the Eagles in Week 2 when Marinelli s unit smothered the
Eagles ground game, holding them to an abysmal 7 yards on 17 rushing attempts.
The Eagles offense hasn t found consistency and quarterback Sam Bradford hasn t
been able to protect the football. It s hard to pump some positive energy through all

When the Eagles have struggled executing these concepts, their interior O line has
been pushed off the snap and have missed assignments, allowing penetration to
close out running lanes. The Cowboys defense did a tremendous job in their first
meeting on getting pressure up the middle and containing the edges against the
DeMarco Murray led backfield, and without positive yards on the ground,
Bradford wasn t able to get ahead of the down and distance. The key matchup on
the outside between DE Greg Hardy and LT Jason Peters can come a long way on
deciphering the outcome, but for the Cowboys to win their battles in the trenches,
their interior front (Tyrone Crawford, Nick Hayden and David Irving) can t allow
Eagles guards Allen Barbe and Matt Tobin and center Jason Kelce to execute their
blocks well, particularly when they pull on outside runs. Mainly, pressure up the
middle will free up the outside rush and spark pressure from all angles toward
Students Increased Test Scores
PRO
1.Students increased test scores are linked to increased academic time.
2.The diocese would be promoting excellence in education .
3.Increased academic time allows for more minutes to be focused upon curriculums
and standards.
4.The diocese would increase their Terra Nova scores.
5.Teachers would have more time to spiral their instruction and give students a better
opportunity to solidly grasp concepts.
6.Families that use after or before care for their students may save on that cost.CON
1.Families may pull their students from the Catholic schools affecting enrollment.
2.Father only listened to one opinion to make a decision affecting many.
3.The increased financial burden would fall on the individual schools.
4.Students would not have as much down time.
5.Only most types of learners would benefit from the extended day.
6.There are no guarantees that the test scores of students would increase with the
increased school day.
7.All faith community members deserve consideration in the change since it affects
them.
As Father Belleview, one of my most pressing concerns is the students and families
that will be impacted by my decision. A partnership with parents is key to the
success of the Diocese of Sheridan and I would need to involve them as quick as
possible, letting them know what the plan is for the near future. The families are
essential to keeping the school doors open and they need to be kept informed and

Jealousy And Paranoia In My Last Duchess By Robert
Browning
Jealousy and paranoia are not the way for a happy marriage. Any man who is
suspicious of his wife and her questionably promiscuous ways are bound to have
some issues to sort out. Some men if angry enough could go to extreme depths to stop
their wives from potentially going out with another man. Much like in Robert
Brownings poem My Last Duchess, the main character in the story does just that, his
rough tone throughout this poem showcases his hatred that builds up over time for
his own wife. He gets rid of his own wife from the extreme paranoia he had that she
was with other men. Also, the message that is portrayed throughout the poem that a
relationship built on distrust and lies can never end well. During Browning s poem,
the narrator s extreme jealousy is apparent throughout the entire poem. As stated in
the line by Browning, How such a glance came there; so not the first (426). This
implies that the husband is noticing other men pay attention to his wife. That there
have been multiple men that have been looking at her. This also implies that she
could be the type of wife who is flirtatious and likes the attention she is getting from
other men. It showcases the rage that starts to build up early on from her husband.
He feels betrayed as this is his wife and he does not want any other man trying to go
after her.
Throughout the poem the husband begins to get more and more suspicious of his
wife, showcasing the fact that he seems to want to
William Faulkner s A Rose For Emily Essay
Rather than stating the true meaning of his works, William Faulkner generally uses
symbolism to portray the depth of his tales. Throughout the story A Rose For Emily,
time is a continuous theme that is portrayed through symbols. The past, present, and
future are represented by different people, places, and things. One of which such
symbols, the main characterherself, represents the essence of the past through her
father, her house, and her lover.
Historically, the Grierson name was one of the most respected names in Jefferson.

Although the law intervened and buried her father, the crayon portrait of Miss Emily
s father further emphasized the great effect he had on her lifestyle and mindset.
Miss Emily was rarely seen by the public after the death of her father. She confined
herself to her house to bask in the sentimental memories of her father. Mr. Grierson
had bought his family a house that was located in what, at that time, was one of the
most prestigious neighborhoods of Jefferson. The street they lived was recognized
by the community as prominent and seemingly royal and the houses were grand and
picturesque. The big, squarish frame...had once been white, decorated with cupolas
and spires and scrolled balconies in the heavily lightsome style of the seventies.
However, even the stubborn Grierson house had been weathered and worn by the
lapse of time.
Even the interior of the house was evidence of the lack of progression. It smelled of
dust and disuse. The leather of the furniture was cracked, and when the chairs were
sat upon, a faint dust rose about [the] thighs. The house seemed to be submerged in
shadows, refusing to admit the light of the future.
However, the times began to change and the town moved on toward the future. The

Persuasive Essay On Child Trafficking
To traffick individuals is a severe offense. This crime violates the rights of humans.
Often men, women and children plunge into the hands of traffickers. Human
trafficking is a norm for all countries around the world. The United States is also on
the map for human trafficking. Human traffickers serve a diverse category which
includes ethnic, racial and social groups. We know that perpetrators are not just men
and women. Trafficking young children are on the rise. Trafficker s objective is to
lure children through the internet, social media, telephone, acquaintances that have
been victims of trafficking, popular hangouts, and in the school system where
children are convinced that they are safe and protected. Traffickers often prey on
young individuals by assuring that they will receive an abundance of love, money
and a superior life. Traffickers are practicing fear techniques to entice young children
and teens to engage in several types of sexual act and harsh and unethical work.
Traffickers will exploit young people to participate in commercial sexual activities
and forced labor. Commercial sexual activities may include exploiting young people
through survival sex which includes the exchange of monetary, food, drugs or
lodging, prostitution, and by way of sex tourism. Young people, especially those with
risk factors are vulnerable to human trafficking, The Administration for Children and
Families at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services issued new guidance

Cloudstreet
The themes of faith and religion are weaved through Cloudstreet. The text presents
an amalgam of traditional Christian beliefs, working class superstitions and
Aboriginal spirituality. Tim Winton builds layers of religious symbolism through
the text to show its influence on culture. For example, the river becomes a surreal
environment where many important events occur such as the black angel (Winton,
1998, page 220) walking on the river, fish that shone like money (Winton, 1998,
page 216) swarming into Quick s boat and Fish and Quick being embraced by the
stars on the river. The nature in which the river is treated, the clarity and peace upon
which it imparts and the importance the characters place upon it create the river as a
symbol for the coming together of the two families.... Show more content on

The Lambs are the Lambs of God (Winton, 1998, page 41) as they set up a light in
the darkness (Winton, 1998, page 26). The Lambs faith is built through the almost
biblical language which describes them. Another source of religion in the text is the
character Fish, who s persona and name is complexly interlinked with faith. Fish s
Christian name Samson is synonymous with the bible where a warrior named
Samson is undone by treachery as he breaks a promise to God. Thus, Fish s name
symbolises a parallel in Cloudstreet. Fish is drowned by treachery by Lamb and
Quick. Evidently, the text is laced with literary symbolism and religious references.
This embeds a sense that faith and spirituality influenced the Australian culture during
the twentieth

What is outsourcing Essay
What is Outsourcing? It is a method in which companies subcontract labor and
support to outside agencies (Klepper, 1997). How, why, and who companies
outsource to are quickly becoming social topics of discussion in our society.
Everyone seems to have an opinion on outsourcing. I bet that I can walk into a social
gathering right now and hear discussions like outsourcingis good for the American
consumer or outsourcing takes jobs away from all of the hard working Americans. In
either case, outsourcing has raised great concerns over its effects on the American
economy. In this paper, I will discuss the types of outsourcing, pros and cons

Also, it may be more expensive to outsource. Sometimes it is cheaper to keep a
process in house as compared to outsourcing. Security and confidentiality concerns
may arise, especially with payroll and confidential information such as salary (Earl,
1996).
BPO is similar to information technology outsourcing but includes outsourcing
related to accounting, HR, benefits, payroll, and finance functions and activities
(Embleton, 1998). Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) is a decision to subcontract
some or all important, non core, business processes. This allows companies to invest
its time, talent, and capital on basic business strategies that help company growth.
Better and more affordable services become available for consumers and taxpayers
(Embleton, 1998). Outsourcing allows companies to operate on an around the clock,
24/7 production cycle, further adding to productivity (Embleton, 1998).
No matter what type of outsourcing a company uses, there is a see saw effect,
someone on the high and low end. There are pros, cons, positives and negatives.
For example, if you are a cost cutting director at a competitive company, the mention
of outsourcing, especially offshore, may bring a smile to your face. For computer
programmers, call center workers, or factory workers the reaction is likely to be
more negative. The primary pro is that outsourcing jobs outside of the U.S. may help

Interventional Radiology Report
Interventional Radiology was running slow today during clinical. It first started off
by the nurses explaining what the day was going to consist of. After that they
explained, how to get everything ready to start the day. We did not start procedures
until around 0845. First patient was in for a cat scan, an I.V. was placed. The first
nursewas not the best person to explain a procedure, therefore I just watched as she
did the I.V. The second procedure was another cat scan, and I.V. placed too. This
nurse was more willing to explain as she did the procedure. However she did have
a harder time doing the I.V. because she was not having blood return. Another nurse
helped her but she also had trouble getting the I.V. placed. Later after that patient,
another patient was in, but he was going to be taken to catheterization lab. I did not
get a chance to go with him because another patient was going to have permanent
catheter insertion. I got ready to see the permanent catheter insertion, and the nurse

procedure because in the middle of the procedure I felt dizzy, and dizzy. Finally I got

The Time Traveler might say they are disgusting but the Morlock s are not dumb.
They are always working, never being lazy. They are like crab monsters in the

They are very beautiful, graceful butterfly monsters. The Time Traveler said that
they had hectic beauty and that they were fragile beings. He also said that they had

Writing Style in The Awakening Essay
Writing Style in The Awakening
In her novel The Awakening, Kate Chopin is an artist who paints a picture for the
reader with every word: The sun was low in the west, and the breeze was soft and
languorous that came up from the south, charged with the seductive odor of the sea.
(12) The inclusion of such alluring and dramatic images allows the reader to see,
hear, feel, smell, and live in the scene which she creates. Chopin writes to awaken the
senses, and her style is one of beauty and uniqueness. As if stroking a brush across a
canvas, or playing a chord on the piano, Chopin s use of expressive, descriptive, and
poignant writing is evident throughout the novel, thus adding to its overall effect.

  • 3. Marshawn Lynch s Influence On American Football As Seattle s star running back, Marshawn Lynch had his fair share of media time. Also followed through his early years of football, Lynch had a love hate relationship with the media. He hated the time he had to spend with them; they loved every second of coverage they could share with the public. The interview that was observed was Lynch s Super Bowl XLIX where Lynch gave one of the most memorable interactions that fans had ever witnessed. Prior to this encounter, Lynch had been fined thousands of dollars for failing to show up for a media day. As Lynch arrived for the Super Bowl interview, he instantly pulled out his phone and started a timer. He warned the media that he had to be there for only four minutes and fifty one seconds and that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His quality seems to be his biggest ploy to encourage spectators to make their own opinion of him. Because of his use of the other maxims, Beckham loses that ability to move fans to think on their own. His abiding to relevance makes the interview seem too rushed and forced, giving the impression that he wants the interview to end as soon as possible. The flouting of quantity and manner was seen in the more negative responses. With quantity, he would deny that anything that the media recorded him saying and agree with others opinions when he previously so clearly disagreed with. He seemed more untrustworthy in the way the media portrayed the interview. With manner, he could not give clear, concise responses when he had to cast blame or deny blame. This made Beckham seem nervous and unsure of what he was saying. The media had complete control of how spectators would see things although Beckham tried to adhere to the cooperation
  • 4. Toxic Mold Essay The subject of black mold gathered a lot of attention in the late 1990 s. Up to that time, little attention had been given to this topic and there were few government regulations regarding black mold. According to the US EPA from their on line course (http://www.epa.gov/mold /moldcourse/index.html), molds are organisms that may be found indoors and outdoors. They are part of the natural environment and play an important role in the environment by breaking down and digesting organic material, such as dead leaves. Also called fungi or mildew, molds are neither plants nor animals; they are part of the kingdom Fungi. Evidence of mold in the home can be either visual or by odor, and evidence of an indoor mold problem typically starts with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These factors include the degree or size of the mold colonies growing within a residence, where they are located, and factors such as whether a person is allergic to any particular type of mold. The more extensive the mold colony is, the higher the dose to which you or a member of your family is exposed. Where one person may have a severe reaction to a particular type of mold, another person may have little or no reaction. Black mold has received the greater concern as some studies have revealed more severe health effects when exposed to black mold. The most effective response to mold is to first remove the source of moisture. Any water leaks, such as roof or plumbing, should be repaired as soon as possible. In some cases, fans are needed to help dry the affected areas. Once these areas are dry, mold spores can be cleaned using a bleach mixture or other cleaning compounds containing biocides specific to addressing mold contamination. It is important to remember that personal protection should be used when cleaning mold contamination to prevent breathing in or ingesting mold spores. It is also important to note that any recurrence of water intrusion into a home or building will likely result in return of the mold. If there is a repeated or even a single exposure to mold, this may cause even non sensitive people to become sensitive to mold. Allergic

Rene Descartes Meditations on First Philosophy In Rene Descartes, Meditations on First Philosophy, Descartes does and experiment with wax to try to prove that things actually exist in this world. This essay is going to prove how we can tell that things actually exist and what can perceive the wax. Rene Descartes starts off with a description of the wax so he can prove to us the changes that will happen throughout his experiment. Let us take, for instance, this piece of wax. It has been taken quite recently from the honeycomb; it has not yet lost all the honey flavor. It retains some of the scent of the flowers from which it was collected. Its color, shape, and size are manifest. It is hard and cold; it is easy to touch. If you rap on it with your ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He then tells us his final perspective on how he perceives the wax. It remains then for me to concede that I do not grasp what this wax is through the imagination; rather, I perceive it through the mind alone. (Descartes, 22) He ends his argument on how he perceives the wax with telling us that it is not our imagination that grasps all of the perceptions of the wax, but the mind that does it. Rene Descartes just proved to us that our imagination is not able to grasp all of the perceptions of the wax but the mind is. After proving that theory he suddenly starts to doubt his proof. But meanwhile I marvel at how prone my mind is to errors. (Descartes, 22) He states that his mind is prone to making errors. For example; For we say we see the wax itself, if it is present, and not that we judge it to be present from its color or shape. (Descartes, 22) He thinks a mistake our minds make is when we judge that it is wax by just looking at it and not paying any attention to any of the forms. For this reason he is claiming that he still is not sure that the mind can actually perceive the wax due to it making mistakes. Back to what Rene Descartes said earlier about the imagination not being able to grasp all of what we need to perceive about the wax. He told us the imagination was unable to grasp it all but now

Determining which view is correct is a matter of opinion based on fact. The main problem involves the use of cladistics or phylogenetic systematics to group organisms according to characteristics they share. Two opponents of the birds are dinosaurs theory are Alan Feduccia of the University of North Carolina and Larry Martin of the University of Kansas. They believe that birds evolved from some unknown reptile from a time before dinosaurs came to be. One point they make is that flight must have begun from tree climbing or an arboreal ancestor but that all the proposed dinosaurian ancestors were ground dwellers or cursorial On the other side, supporters for the birds are dinosaurs theory feel there is an unknown dinosaur bird that was arboreal, or simply that birds evolved flight from the ground by chasing after insects. In recent years other fossil finds have stirred the argument even more. One of these is the fossil named Sinosauroptyrex found in China. It appears to be an important link between birds and dinosaurs. Sinosauropteryx appears to be a feathered dinosaur having a mane of feathers along its neck, back, and tail a feature until then seen only in birds. The company of course, felt quite confident that it had some leverage in the negotiations of a new contract. They were pretty secure that the Teamster were having problems with finances because the union had to use union funds to finance the oversight of the government over the union, as well as the fact that Carey who was still union president, had led several strikes already (Leumer, 2007). They had workers to fill out a questionnaire to find out what was important to them concerning their jobs and they overwhelmingly stated that it was the need for full time positions. • 31. Speech On Animal Poaching Animal Poaching Animal poaching has a bigger price tag than the trophy sitting on the shelf. Poaching is causing iconic animals of many continents and of our oceans to become endangered or even extinct. These animals that people have come to love and fantasize over may be gone before we are (Africa). Elephants, rhinos, lions, and zebras are the animals thought of the most when it comes to animal poaching, but many animals are poached. They are killed for only one quality, like their horns or skins and the rest of the animal is left behind. Poaching is a massive business that is ran by international networks, it s estimated to make hundreds of millions of dollars (World). Not all wildlife trade is illegal, but it becomes a crisis when an increasing amount of illegal poaching is done and it directly threatens the survival of species in the wild (World). Since 1960 97.6% of the Black Rhino population in Africa has been poached and lions are extinct in seven African countries (Africa). Poaching is a worldwide problem because it is affecting the whole food chain, including humans. A year after a logging road went into forest areas in Sarawak, Malaysia, in 2001, not a single large mammal remained (Begley). If one animal goes extinct, then a snowball effect will happen because the animal that depended on the extinct animal for food will have a harder time getting food and eventually that species will die off also, leaving us humans with very little food choices in our future.

The lead source was not acknowledged until 1904 when a researcher tracked it to the paint used on railings and porches. The first detection of lead poisoning in the United States was in 1914, this was discovered when a child had consumed lead based paint off of his crib. At this moment, doctors linked to lead poisoning as a cause of convulsions in children. As research improved and more children were discovered with excessively high lead levels, symptoms caused by lead were expanded to include lead meningitis, acute encephalopathy, intellectual dullness, reduced consciousness, seizures, comas, and death (Chisholm, 1982). Lead poisoning results from the accumulation of lead in the blood and body tissues of those individuals that are often exposed to lead. As one of the most common and best recognized childhood diseases of toxic environmental origin, children around the world today are at risk of exposure to lead from numerous sources. Written almost 20 years ago, it is an important concept which has been celebrated as instrumental in the re imagining of black culture. Challenging the taboo between the integration of white and black, it theorised a new modernity of hybridity in culture over the transatlantic space, shaping a new transnational concept. Gilroys theory aimed to get rid of the sociological imagination of race and instead appreciate the cultural heritage and influence of people. This spawned new arguments, theories and research, which helped to combine areas in a new age of interdisciplinary subjects; influencing the study of sociology, geography, politics, anthropology, art and many other areas. Gilroy specifically shows a very deep connection to music and creativity, demonstrating how these traits make a profound transformation in society. For example, the evolution of music represents how the deep rooted pain of black culture has mixed with the romanticised white culture in a hybrid form to create something new. This expressed interest focused on a select few avant garde individuals, who connected to this African transatlantic blackness and these intellectuals inspired his main concepts such as W.E.B. Throughout the novel, the boys on the island become increasingly barbaric and violent when they are faced with dire situations. Through the escalating tension surrounding the symbolic nature of Piggy s glasses and its representation of the boys rationality, William Golding conveys the message that lack of reason brings out the innate savage side of human nature. I believe by this mechanical separation, Copland succeeds in discussing difficult topic, so natural that most people tend to by pass it. He uses analogy and sometimes stresses on certain situation where these planes are abused or become a cause of a problem. The next plane deals with the manipulation of the notes and offers a more intellectual approach in enhancing musical appreciation. The actual structure of the music as such the length of the note, pitch, harmony, and tone color are emphasized in this section of the essay. This basic study of the structure is a must to form a firm foundation in the musical piece and to understand the diagnosis of it. This technical and more scientific plane is contradictory to the philosophical sensuous plane. Therefore, it is another good technique of Copland to write one right after the other to cover the whole listening process. After expounding his theory on the way we listen, Copland uses the analogy of a theoretical play to drive the point home. This is yet another good technique used by Copland: allowing him to clearly demonstrate the interrelating of the three planes. Regarding the ideal listener, Copland says: In a sense, the ideal listener is both inside and outside the music at the same moment, judging it and enjoying it, wishing it would go one way and watching it go another almost like the composer at the moment he composes it; because in order to write his music, the composer must also be inside and outside his music, carried away but it and yet coldly critical of it. Therefore, establishing the date of Peter s second letter within that time frame. Peter wrote out of love to defend and protect the immutable word of God. The letters main purpose was to warn fellow devotees about false teachers that would try to enter their churches and mislead them in their faith. Peter goes on to explain the false teachers can be recognized by their prideful behavior, their love of money, and disrespect to God. (Life Application Study Bible 1507,1918) Peter uses instances from the past, such as Sodom and Gomorrah and the great flood to stress the judgment and punishment that will come to unbelievers who reject God. The apostle also warns that there will be those that will mock God and dismiss the second coming of Christ. He advises the believers to have confidence in the promises, prophecies, and principles given through God s inspired word. (Hindson, Towns) Peter cautions God will return without warning and find individuals unwary. However, Peter reasons that God is patient and delays His return for unbelievers, not
  • 46. Cowboys Case Study An inept passing game proved to be the deciding factor in the Cowboys fifth straight loss. In his second start, Matt Cassel competed 13 of 25 passes for a mere 97 yards against the Seahawks. Defensively, DC Rod Marinelli s unit mitigated the play fakes of the Seahawks read option concepts, but it wasn t enough for the Cowboys, who lost 13 12 in another hard fought battle. The last time the Cowboys won a game was against the Eagles in Week 2 when Marinelli s unit smothered the Eagles ground game, holding them to an abysmal 7 yards on 17 rushing attempts. The Eagles offense hasn t found consistency and quarterback Sam Bradford hasn t been able to protect the football. When the Eagles have struggled executing these concepts, their interior O line has been pushed off the snap and have missed assignments, allowing penetration to close out running lanes. The Cowboys defense did a tremendous job in their first meeting on getting pressure up the middle and containing the edges against the DeMarco Murray led backfield, and without positive yards on the ground, Bradford wasn t able to get ahead of the down and distance. The key matchup on the outside between DE Greg Hardy and LT Jason Peters can come a long way on deciphering the outcome, but for the Cowboys to win their battles in the trenches, their interior front (Tyrone Crawford, Nick Hayden and David Irving) can t allow Eagles guards Allen Barbe and Matt Tobin and center Jason Kelce to execute their blocks well, particularly when they pull on outside runs. • 48. Jealousy And Paranoia In My Last Duchess By Robert Browning Jealousy and paranoia are not the way for a happy marriage. Any man who is suspicious of his wife and her questionably promiscuous ways are bound to have some issues to sort out. Some men if angry enough could go to extreme depths to stop their wives from potentially going out with another man. Much like in Robert Brownings poem My Last Duchess, the main character in the story does just that, his rough tone throughout this poem showcases his hatred that builds up over time for his own wife. He gets rid of his own wife from the extreme paranoia he had that she was with other men. Also, the message that is portrayed throughout the poem that a relationship built on distrust and lies can never end well. During Browning s poem, the narrator s extreme jealousy is apparent throughout the entire poem. As stated in the line by Browning, How such a glance came there; so not the first (426). This implies that the husband is noticing other men pay attention to his wife. That there have been multiple men that have been looking at her. This also implies that she could be the type of wife who is flirtatious and likes the attention she is getting from other men. It showcases the rage that starts to build up early on from her husband. He feels betrayed as this is his wife and he does not want any other man trying to go after her. Throughout the poem the husband begins to get more and more suspicious of his wife, showcasing the fact that he seems to want to

Throughout the story A Rose For Emily, time is a continuous theme that is portrayed through symbols. The past, present, and future are represented by different people, places, and things. One of which such symbols, the main characterherself, represents the essence of the past through her father, her house, and her lover. Although the law intervened and buried her father, the crayon portrait of Miss Emily s father further emphasized the great effect he had on her lifestyle and mindset. Miss Emily was rarely seen by the public after the death of her father. She confined herself to her house to bask in the sentimental memories of her father. Mr. Grierson had bought his family a house that was located in what, at that time, was one of the most prestigious neighborhoods of Jefferson. The street they lived was recognized by the community as prominent and seemingly royal and the houses were grand and picturesque. The big, squarish frame...had once been white, decorated with cupolas and spires and scrolled balconies in the heavily lightsome style of the seventies. However, even the stubborn Grierson house had been weathered and worn by the lapse of time. Even the interior of the house was evidence of the lack of progression. It smelled of dust and disuse. The leather of the furniture was cracked, and when the chairs were sat upon, a faint dust rose about [the] thighs. The house seemed to be submerged in shadows, refusing to admit the light of the future. However, the times began to change and the town moved on toward the future. The houses were replaced

  • 51. Cloudstreet The themes of faith and religion are weaved through Cloudstreet. The text presents an amalgam of traditional Christian beliefs, working class superstitions and Aboriginal spirituality. Tim Winton builds layers of religious symbolism through the text to show its influence on culture. For example, the river becomes a surreal environment where many important events occur such as the black angel (Winton, 1998, page 220) walking on the river, fish that shone like money (Winton, 1998, page 216) swarming into Quick s boat and Fish and Quick being embraced by the stars on the river. The nature in which the river is treated, the clarity and peace upon which it imparts and the importance the characters place upon it create the river as a symbol for the coming together of the two families.... The Lambs faith is built through the almost biblical language which describes them. Another source of religion in the text is the character Fish, who s persona and name is complexly interlinked with faith. Fish s Christian name Samson is synonymous with the bible where a warrior named Samson is undone by treachery as he breaks a promise to God. Thus, Fish s name symbolises a parallel in Cloudstreet. Fish is drowned by treachery by Lamb and Quick. Evidently, the text is laced with literary symbolism and religious references. This embeds a sense that faith and spirituality influenced the Australian culture during the twentieth

I bet that I can walk into a social gathering right now and hear discussions like outsourcingis good for the American consumer or outsourcing takes jobs away from all of the hard working Americans. Also, it may be more expensive to outsource. Sometimes it is cheaper to keep a process in house as compared to outsourcing. Security and confidentiality concerns may arise, especially with payroll and confidential information such as salary (Earl, 1996). BPO is similar to information technology outsourcing but includes outsourcing related to accounting, HR, benefits, payroll, and finance functions and activities (Embleton, 1998). Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) is a decision to subcontract some or all important, non core, business processes. This allows companies to invest its time, talent, and capital on basic business strategies that help company growth. Better and more affordable services become available for consumers and taxpayers (Embleton, 1998). Outsourcing allows companies to operate on an around the clock, 24/7 production cycle, further adding to productivity (Embleton, 1998). No matter what type of outsourcing a company uses, there is a see saw effect, someone on the high and low end. There are pros, cons, positives and negatives. For example, if you are a cost cutting director at a competitive company, the mention of outsourcing, especially offshore, may bring a smile to your face. For computer programmers, call center workers, or factory workers the reaction is likely to be more negative. The primary pro is that outsourcing jobs outside of the U.S. may help to
