Essays On Character
Crafting an essay on the theme of "Essays on Character" presents its own set of challenges,
demanding a nuanced exploration of a multifaceted concept. Character, in this context,
encompasses a spectrum of attributes, virtues, and moral dimensions that individuals possess.
Unraveling this intricate tapestry requires a profound understanding of human nature,
psychology, and societal influences.
One of the primary difficulties lies in defining and delineating the parameters of character itself.
Character is not a monolithic entity; it comprises traits, habits, and ethical considerations, making
it a formidable task to encapsulate its essence within the confines of an essay. Striking the right
balance between generalization and specificity is a tightrope walk, as one must delve into
universal aspects while also acknowledging the uniqueness of individual characters.
Furthermore, delving into the philosophical and ethical aspects of character necessitates a careful
examination of cultural, historical, and personal contexts. This intricate interplay adds layers of
complexity, demanding a nuanced and well-researched approach. Analyzing characters from
literature, history, or contemporary society can be intellectually stimulating but requires a
discerning eye to draw meaningful insights and connections.
The task becomes more challenging when one endeavors to intertwine theoretical perspectives
with real-life examples. Balancing the theoretical underpinnings of character development with
practical illustrations requires a judicious selection of examples and an adept articulation of the
connections between theory and reality.
In addition, maintaining coherence and a logical flow in the essay is crucial. The diverse
dimensions of character—ranging from integrity and resilience to empathy and self-
discipline—must be seamlessly woven together, creating a cohesive narrative that captivates
the reader's attention while delivering insightful reflections.
Ultimately, writing an essay on "Essays on Character" demands more than just linguistic
proficiency; it requires a deep engagement with human nature, a capacity for critical analysis,
and the ability to synthesize varied perspectives into a harmonious whole. It is an intellectual
endeavor that challenges the writer to navigate the labyrinth of human experience and offer
meaningful insights.
For those grappling with such a task, seeking assistance is a prudent option. If you find yourself

character.

Things Fall Apart Fear Analysis
In the Book Things Fall Apart by Chinue Achebe, The main character, Okonkwo,
faces many challenges that causes him fear. Every time Okonkwo remembers his
father he fears that he will turn out lazy like his father. Okonkwo crosses many lines
to show that he is not afraid even going against the village s wishes. Okonkwofaced
challenges from outside forces that caused him to fear the future. All the fear that
Okonkwo had bottle up inside him finally burst out and led to the end of
Okonkwo. One of Okonkwo s fears was that he will turn out lazy like his father.

Okonkwo became really concerned about the terrifying information about the
white man. (pg 139) Hearing the story that Obierika definitely got Okonkwo on his
feet worried. Then Okonkwo s uncle burst out saying never kill a man who says
nothing. (pg 140) Okonkwo fears that in the future if the white man stays, his
children will start worshiping the other god and not remembering him when he is
dead. Once the christians came Okonkwo s son Nwoye started to join christians.
Right along Nwoye the tribe started to be along with him worshiping the white

his end. In the book Okonkwo s greatest threat of all that led to death was his fear
that he had bottle up inside him. Okonkwo s fear of being lazy is a major fear that

Essay On Speech-Language Pathology
My story behind choosing to study Speech Language Pathology is much different
than many who are in the program. As far back into my childhood as I can
remember, I have had an indescribable passion for children with special needs. In
high school, there were times when special needs students in my classes needed
partners, and I would often be asked to work with them because the teachers
recognized the compassion and the patience that I held in my heart for them. I
strived to find an area of study that would incorporate this love for children, and the
desire I have for being a helping hand in all situations. I graduated high school with
the long term goal of becoming a clinical therapist who works specifically with
children. I did pursue this, and I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology.
However, I soon learned that this wasn t what I felt destined to do. After a lot of
research and even more prayers, I decided that Speech Language Pathology... Show

The P2P Piracy Prevention Act Attacks Consumers Essay
The P2P Piracy Prevention Act Attacks Consumers
Peer to peer (P2P) networks have had a staggering growth in the past few years.
Since Napster, dozens of P2P networks have been created in its imitation. Due to the
growing accessibility of broadband, which increases the speed of downloads, P2P
networks generate nearly 1.8 billion downloads per month. Popularity and acceptance
is still continually growing.
As many users see P2P software as just file sharing, entertainment industries and other
big companies see it as copyright infringement and stealing from copyright owners
without their rightful authorization or compensation. These companies complain that
P2P file sharing threatens the survival of the industries and believe that there ... Show

Berman proposed a legislation called the Peer to Peer Piracy Prevention Act last year
that ensures that all copyright owners won t face liability for using reasonable,
limited self help to prevent the theft of their works on peer to peer networks such as
Kazaa and Gnutella. The bill says that since no legislation can eliminate the problem
of P2P piracy, the law should allow copyright owners to take action into their own
hands in protecting and preventing infringements on their products. With this act,
Congress can help manage problematic issues of the market without interfering with
the system itself. Furthermore, this bill would allow copyright owners to enter and
look into a P2P user s computer to the same extent that any other P2P user is able to,
and allows the owners to take limited measures to prevent and stop the distribution of
their copyrighted property.
The problem with this bill is that it s unethical. Swapping or sharing files with
another user is not illegal. It is the act of sharing copywritten files without
authorization or rightful compensation to the owners that makes it illegal.
However, giving rights to copyright owners to look into P2P users computer files is
an invasion of privacy and that is illegal too. Berman tries to say that the P2P
Piracy Prevention Act primarily allows owners to retrieve or protect their property
much like a bicycle owner grabbing his bike from a thief s yard . But nonetheless this

Life Events In My Life
My life events
I had many good and bad thing happen to me in my life and even to this day, but
today I will only be talking about the positive and fun moments or events that I had
with friends or family. I have a great deal of friends throughout my life that I m
proud of. I had and a lot of fun moments with them. Same thing goes with all my
family and relatives that I love very much and are all fun to be with too. I had this
one very fun time at school way back in Nanaimo where my friend and I got dared
by another friend to jump off a swing. It was high up and we had to do a 360 no
scope. While I succeeded, my friend Chase failed and flopped down like a plane
crashing. There was also this time in Nanaimo, where my friend Jessy had a
birthday and he invited me to his party. We watched movies, ate pizza and popcorn.
We even went as far as spraying each other with a team water gun battle. Chase was
one of the captains and Jesse was the other team captain to pick the team players.
The party was a great old time. Now we move on to when I was very young and still
pretty small. I was in Toronto and in a small town called new market. I had my
best friend their named Vishal that we went together every day to school. We had
playdates where we would play PokГ©mon games on our DS s and played soccer
outside beside his garage. He had a brother also and we would like to play on my
PSP multiplayer games all together with his brother. I had a lot of fun moments with

Examples Of Innocence In Catcher In The Rye
Ethan Skophammer November 16th, 2017 6th Hour The Age of Innocence There
is only one experience that unites every single person in the world. Many people
in the world can agree that it isn t always the greatest experience, and many people
have an extremely hard time getting through it, but every single adult goes through
the act of growing up . For many, the transition can be very depressing, and
confusing. When a child is young becoming an adult seems to be enjoyable and
exciting, but it isn t until that child is forced into the cruel, harsh world where the
innocence of childhood can be appreciated and missed. The novel Catcher in the
Rye explores how teenagers who are nearing adulthood see the adult world to be
incomprehensible. J.D Salinger illustrates the confusion of a teenager when faced
with the challenge of transitioning into adulthood using Holden Caulfield. J.D.
Salinger illustrates how one reacts to adult challenges with efforts to maintain
innocence. As humans our main initial instincts are either to engage or run away
when given a challenge. Holden s initial response to adulthood approaching him
was to fight it. The museum is an example of an important place to Holden as it is
one of the few places he can rely on to stay the same. The best thing, though, in that
museum was that everything always stayed right where it was (121). To Holden the
museum is serves as like an escape from the complicated adult life of reality. This
idea gives the reader the
The Historical Development Of Capitalism
The most effective system to exist in the world, capitalism, triumphed in uniting
the world into a solitary system. Capitalism can be defined as an economic system
in which employers hire workers to produce goods and services that will be
marketed with the intention of making a profit (Bowles et al., 2005) (p. 74).
Furthermore, the social order is significantly impacted by the relationship between
the capitalist mode of production and the mode of exchange, however, there is a
rebuttal in the economic order of this system. The purpose of this essay is to, first
explain what Engel s means by historical materialism, and then to analyze the
fundamental contradictions the capitalist mode of production has on the social order,
and examine the social and economic problems that arise from the contradiction. The
conclusion of this essay will state the outcome of the historical development of
capitalism, according to Engels. It is very important for one to understand the concept
of historical materialism before analyzing Engels ideas and critiques of capitalism.
Historical materialism examines the material conditions of the society, along with
social relations and social structure. In simple words, this means that material
conditions shape the social structure and economy. In his work Theoretical, Engels
establishes what he means by historical materialism. Engels (1939) states The
materialist conception of history starts from the principle that production, and with
Rhetorical Devices In Redfern Speech
Have you ever written an essay, composed a letter or read a book? What do you
need to do these things well? Rhetoric. It is the fundamental building blocks of
good education, in determining the decisions we make and how it further deepens
one s knowledge. It can inspire people to be generous, or provoke people to hate
and fear. It can change the world by deepening the purpose of good or bad. It can
turn a speaker into a hero or enemy. It can turn a listener into an alley or an opponent.
Communication involves the beautiful art of interactions and understandings
between the souls of our society. Little do we realise, rhetoricis ceaselessly moulding
our human experience through the means of persuasionand transformation. Good
morning to my fellow Year 12 Good Samaritan advanced students, it is clear that
despite contextual differences of texts, the amalgamation of rhetoric, textual
integrity, purpose and form establishes a resonating message to audiences.
Therefore, composers employ great rhetoric and cohesiveness in their speeches
which have the capability to persuade and transform society s views, attitudes and
beliefs. This is undoubtedly clear in Paul Keating s, Redfern Speech and Anwar
Sadat s, Speech to the Israeli Knesset , which both exhibit the power of words in
refining our perspectives and ideas. They both achieve value beyond the time and
place in which they were first delivered.
Great rhetoric can have the potential to persuade the audience into
The And Placebo Effect On Human Sciences
Since every object, event and story can be interpreted from multiple perspectives,
people gain their knowledge in a way largely influenced by the perspective. It is
difficult to be convinced of any knowledge that is without bias. The knowers all
pursue the answer to their questions when researching or learning the knowledge,
which results in the similar way of thinking among the similar communities. Few can
detach themselves from the contemporary situation since the cultural background,
various eras, and diverse ways of knowing all help to shape the pursuit of
knowledge. While to a great extent I consider perspective as an essential factor in
obtaining knowledge as examples can be extracted from my Chinese cultural
background, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the Chinese government promised to investigate the incident thoroughly,
many western media bitterly criticized the supervision system of food safety in China.
From different perspective, the foreign reporters did not have the intention to harbor
the crime of the Chinese food companies and the incompetence of Chinese ruling
system. Moreover, foreign journalists began to suspect that the Chinese press may
have delayed reporting the incident in order to keep the perfect appearance during
the Olympic Games. For the 2008 Chinese milk scandal, the Chinese press held the
perspective which mostly preserves the prestige of Chinese government, while the
foreign press boldly deduced and query about the truth from another aspect. Thus,
considering different perspectives when gaining the knowledge will help people to
generate more inference and get closer to the truth. Perspectives can be evolved and
altered as the time is progressing. As a Chinese old saying states, the spectators see
the chess game better than the players , many who live in the moment are unable to
objectively justify the contemporary events happened around them. Only the
descendants, analyzing from new perspective, can draw a conclusion more
comprehensively while learning the history. Historians from different eras hold
diverse perspectives, leading to various interpretations of a certain topic: To what

Health Information Technology And Medical Malpractice...
Health Information Technology and Medical Malpractice Lawsuit Liability
Introduction
Health information technology (HIT) has become a growing phenomenon in the
past sev eral years. Healthcare providers, organizations, policymakers, and patients
all share a similar vi sion of a healthcare system powered by information technology.
These visions stem from the Health Information Technology for Economic and
Clinical Health (HITECH) Act of 2009, which authorizes grants and incentives to
promote the use of electronic health records (EHRs) by pro viders. In the past couple
of years, with the implementation of HIT and EHRs, the healthcare field has had an
increasing amount of medical malpractice lawsuits. Unfortunately, with technol ogy
advancing more rapidly causing medical professionals a difficult task in identifying
and ad dressing medico legal issues before they occur. Therefore, healthcare teams
are in need of con sidering how to fix the underlying problems of HIT in order to
ensure malpractice lawsuits do not continue to happen in practice.
Area of Improvement
According to resources and information, Health Information Technology needs to
contin ually be re evaluated as to support organizations in the event of, or to deter,
medical malpractice lawsuits. Medical malpractice lawsuits can be an expensive,
long term, and a defeating process for all parties. Unfortunately, healthcare providers
have to continue to carry malpractice insur ance, as these lawsuits can be costly not
Literary Analysis Of Godwin s A Sorrowful Woman
Can we eat turkey for supper? the boy asked. In one line Godwin presents a reader
with enough levels of complexity to easily fill an entire essay; why is one of the
most prominent characters (and the son of the main character referred to as the
boy ? Does his focus on the tuckey emphasize his love of the idea and duties of a
mother, as opposed to the actual person? Yet all of these quarries pale in
comparison to an analysis of the text preceding this small quote. The end of
Godwin s A Sorrowful Woman demonstrates the power of rhetoric, contrast, and
detached narration in creating the text s message that the archetypal role of
mother and wife is so constricting and limiting to cause the mother to end her life.
Word choice proves one of the more fascinating aspects of Godwin s text,
specifically her use of repetition emphasize relevant details that may have
otherwise gone unnoticed. The most prominent example of this comes in the two
hand knitted sweaters (both of the same gray color) As a stand alone quote, no one
word stands out. Yet in the beginning of the text the child s gray eyes are
referenced, in conjunction with The shirt was the gray of the child s trusting gaze.
The continuation of the gray motif of the text highlights a few key details. First,
gray is used with some frequency in literature to act as a symbol for depression, and
even beyond the realm of literature Professors from the University of Manchester
have recently developed a color chart
Railroad Industry And Railroad Technology
Railroad Safety in America The railroad industry and railroad technology in the
United States has changed over the years. The railroad industry and railroad
technology has helped the men and women make things safer and faster for people
who rely on the railroad. From passenger rail service to freight service, each one
has their ways in using technology for the future. The Federal Railroad
Administration (FRA) is continually working to do better at rail safety on all
railroads. Their mission is to enable the safe, reliable, and efficient movement of
people and goods for a strong America, now and in the future. 1 Each year, one
hundred railway accidents are investigated and every railway facility is
investigated by the FRA. They specialize in different areas on the railroad that
includes: tracks amp; structures, railroad operating practices, signal amp; train
control systems, motive power and equipment, hazardous materials, and highway
rail grade crossings. 2 These are the areas that I will focus on for my essay
regarding railroad safety in America. The main items that any railroad needs to
build a stretch of track from one city to another are wooden ties, spikes, rails, and
the ballast (stones). The ballast is laid down first and is smoothed out for the
workers who can then lay down the ties that are spread out from each tie at a
distance of two feet. It is critical to use ballast over the ground foundation. The
ballast keeps the rails off the ground and
What Was The Primary Cause Of The First Crusades
he subject of the crusades is still a very controversial topic that spans across various
time periods and has religious, social, and political implications. The first crusade
started off as a widespread pilgrimage that ended as a military expedition resulting in
the recapture of Jerusalem in 1099. The crusadesinitiated from a call from help from
Alexius for the protection of Constantinople and the recovery of Anatolia. For
centuries textbooks have repeated with routine regularity, that the immediate cause,
of the Crusades was the Turkish conquest of the Near East, which apparently was a
very real threat to Christendom, that had to be countered by military action. With this
in mind, the primary purpose of this essay is to identify the various reasons that
contributed to the start of the first crusade, while disproving the fact that the first
Crusade was a response to a military threat. In discovering the true cause of the first
crusades it is necessary to examine it from all aspects from the start to the finish.
It all started with Alexius Comnenus the Byzantine emperor, sending letters and an
embassy to the West requesting military aid to combat the Turkish threat in Asia
Minor. Alexius had inherited a weakened empire in 1081 Byzantium was under siege
from all sides, primarily by the Seljuk Turks. Alexius tried everything including
making peaceful negotiations with the Turks that involved giving up pieces of land in
exchange for peace. However, despite his attempts the
How Labor Laws And The Work Of The Individual And
How They...
In the late 1800 s, labor laws and ethics were something that nobody thought of and
did much about. It wasn t until the reign of Pope Leo XIII and his idea of a
revolutionary change that came in the doctrine of the Rerum Novarum, which
focused on the laboring class. In first world countries, they have labor laws to help
benefit the worker, but those first world companies take advantage of third world
countries, and impoverished individuals. The focus of this paper will focus on how
labor laws and the work of the individual and how they have a major effect on poverty
. In first world countries, labor laws were created to protect and benefit the labor
workers and to enable them to profit from their labor. According to Economic
Justice for All, employment is a basic right, a right which protects the freedom of all
to participate in the economic life of society. This quote is true for all individuals of
all backgrounds, and not just those in first world countries. Many individuals in the
world do not benefit from the property that makes profits and so they must endure
employment to elude poverty, and to support themselves and their families. With the
ethics of Economic Justice for All, in the United Statesalone, there are 8 million
American s that are unemployed, cannot find jobs, and are living under the poverty
line, which equivalates to 7 percent of the labor force in America. The article goes on
to say that the burdens of unemployment compel us to the conviction that as
The Pros And Cons Of Utopian Societies
Have you ever wondered how a utopia works or if it is even possible? Well, a
utopia is a place where everything is perfect and everyone is perfect. There is
peace, everybody is equal, the community provides everything you need, and nobody
gets hurt. In our world, many people have different ideas of utopian societies. Some
people think a utopian community is possible. Others think that it is impossible.
Although mankind thinks a flawless civilization is possible, a utopian society is
unachievable because there is not a perfect setting or person in this world. One
reason a community like a Utopian city is not possible is because many Utopian
communities have been tested but have failed. In one article 4 Utopian Communities

The Epic Of Judea Short Story
Another day, and more dead sheep littered the hills of Judea. A fierce pack of
roaming wolves had struck again. All the shepherd boys of Judea, on high alert,
had been arming themselves with pitchforks and knives to defend their helpless
herds of sheep. One of these shepherd boys went by the name of Joshua. Joshua
tended to the sheep of his frail father, and looked after his family. He was a good
son, and a loving brother. Mentiri, another shepherd boy, was the biggest and
strongest of all the shepherd boys in the village. For his strength, good looks, and
physical prowess, he was the pride of the village. On a warm summer night on the
hills of Judea, under a full moon, Joshua and Mentiri were tending to their flock. A

sheep into a nearby gulley and prepared themselves to defend their flock. The
snarling, hungry pack of wolves suddenly appeared and circled the entrance to the
gulley. They then moved in for the kill. Joshua felt a surge of bravery in his heart,
like no other feeling he d had felt before. He grabbed his pitchfork and stoically held
his ground. He glanced at Mentiri, and to his surprise, saw fear in his eyes and knew
he was on his own. He knew he would get no aid from the larger, stronger man. The
largest wolf, who seemed to be the leader of the pack of seven wolves, sprang at
Joshua, its jaws wide open. Joshua blocked the wolf with his pitchfork, and
stabbed him in the throat with his knife. He paused and looked around. Mentiri

was cowering in fear. The pack of seven wolves, now six, set upon Joshua with
ferocity. He fought back with equal ferocity, killing them one by one, as they tore at
his flesh. The cowering Mentiri could hear the screams of Joshua and the snarling of

How Is The Balkans Justified
The Balkans is a famous region of Europe, in which people called the powder keg
of Europe. With this name, I believe it is justified. This is a mountainous peninsula
in Southeast Europe. There were a variety of ethnic groups living and striving in
the Balkans. But, most of the Balkans was made up of the Ottoman Empire. I
believe this nickname is justified. For example, this was a very restless region.
Some Balkan groups tried to free themselves from the Turks while some had already
succeeded at doing so. So, because of the many ethnic groups nationalism was very
important in this region. All of these different ethnic groups were either trying to free
themselves from one another or absorb each other. Serbians hoped to absorb all the

Trauma And Stressor Related Disorder
In the DSM 5, PTSD is listed under Trauma and Stressor Related Disorders. In
order for a person to be diagnosed with PTSD, they must meet a number of criterion
the first one being exposure to actual or threatened death, serious injury, or sexual
violence. If the person does not meet this criterion, they are automatically exempt
from being diagnosed with PTSD. This alone is incredibly restrictive, ignoring many
groups of traumatized victims including those with psychiatric diagnosis, or those
being removed from their home. Though many people can benefit from the
treatments associated with PTSD, its two dimensionality, or lack of reference to
ongoing exposure has created a want for a new diagnosis in the trauma realm.

In creating the opportunity for more individuals to be diagnosed with a post traumatic
syndrome, C PTSD creates a dignified title for individuals who have already endured
so much. Victims of childhood trauma account for a portion of this group. Abused
children have to undergo a series of adaptations in order to experience self
preservation. The three major forms of adaptation include elaboration of dissociative
defenses, development of fragmented identity, and pathological regulation of
emotional states. When a child falls prey to an abuser, they cannot form inner
representations of safety. Not only do they become attached to strangers, but they
also cling to their abusers. During this time, Herman refers to fragmentation as
becoming the central principle of personality organization . Normal regulations of
emotional states are also disrupted, resulting in dysphoria, chronic anxiety, and
chronic depression which can last into adulthood. Normal regulations of emotional
states are also affected by the elaboration of dissociative defenses. When an individual
becomes too accustomed to using dissociation as a defense mechanism, they can
experience something referred to as annihilation panic . When annihilation panic
ensues, only extreme shocks to the system (such as self mutilation) can help them
separate themselves from dissociation. Though these adaptations are crucial for
Choosing The Right Sources Of Capital
Choosing the right sources of capital is a decision that will influence a company for
a very long time. In 1996, the Hutchison Whampoa company is in dire need of
considerable funds in order to finance their long term projects. In fact, investment
analysts estimated that the company would require a minimum of US$500 million of
new capital in the coming year and would face large ongoing capital needs if the firm
was to remain on the growth trajectory established in recent years (Hutchison
WhampoaLimited: The Capital Structure Decision, 1999).
The company had in times past , financed their projects with cash on hand, internal
cash generation and short to medium term bank financing, but due to the long term
nature of these obligations , this previous methods of financing are no longer suitable
and thus a lager avenue must be undertaken in order to meet the needs.
Equity Offering:
Raising capital via equity financing i.e. going public selling of shares is not new to
the company. In 1978, Hutchison Whampoa limited became a publicly listed
company and Cheung Kong (Holdings),in 1979 became the controlling shareholder
by buying a large block of Hutchison Whampoa shares from Hongkong and Shanghai
Bank (HSBC) to the tune of about 49.9% (Hutchison Whampoa Limited: The Capital
Structure Decision, 1999). We understand that raising additional equity provides a
relatively easy way for the firm to raise this needed capital but a better understanding

They costume domestic violence by using beautiful Fox and passionate love

love. Too many young men and women will find this all provocatively sexy. The
video portrays the woman looking beautiful, even while being choked; the man
tortured by his rage, longing for love and peace, and believing that if only the
woman would behave, then the man would retreat to serenity (Meyers). This
however is not the real perception people should be seeing, imagining, or believing.
Abuse is not love in any shape or form, but to subjective people who don t
completely analyze the situation, it almost makes it look like in this case domestic
violence can be tolerated and justified. This is not the message we should be
sending to people in these types of situations or to some who may be faced with
them later in life. Domestic violence is already a huge problem in today s society.
This song is not to blame for all of it, but I m sure it add s to the numbers involved.

This is a constantly stated and posted statistic on a myriad of sites ranging from
those dealing with economics to news and social media, reporting an average of
seventy seven cents to the dollar. Add to that the fact that for the majority of
working women, starting a family is also a very well known priority. While men
might share the same priority, it does not require them to endure the work related
absences and idiosyncrasies due to physical pregnancy. Complicating this even
further, not all women are aware of their rights in the workplace, specifically when
pregnant. The following will show how much this affects women from all walks ...

Should a pregnant woman be treated as though she was injured on the job or one
who participated in risky behavior over the weekend? These are the type of
analogies put forth in one of the most high profile cases in the last twenty five
years. This is the case of a Virginia woman who lost her job after announcing her
pregnancy to her employer, United Parcel Service (UPS). The company denied her
request for alternate duties during her pregnancy. The controversy stems on UPS s
policy to differentiate between being hurt on or off the job. While you are
reassigned duties if you are hurt on the job, if you are hurt off the job, you are not.
Pregnancy is treated as an off the job injury. Of serious note was the fact that they
also heard from U.S. Solicitor General Donald Verrilli who stated that the US
Government position has changed due to guidance issued by the Equal Employment
Opportunity Commission (2014). Joining in support for the Virginia woman are two
Democratic Senators Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire, and Bob Case of
Pennsylvania. Together they created the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act, allowing
women to be accommodated properly at her workplace without fear of retribution
(2014). A ruling against the defendant is thought to pose a significant threat to health
and prosperity of all working woman of child bearing
Why Is Alexander Hamilton Wrong
Alexander Hamilton was one of the greatest founders of our country. He wrote the
majority of the federalist papers, was George Washington s personal assistant during
the war, and he founded our Nations Treasury. You may not know this but Alexander
Hamilton is on the 10 dollar bill. it is mistakenly thought that only presidents appear

Alexander Hamilton our country may have fallen into ruin. when America was trying

recruit people for the unit. Using the last of his money he tried to buy the men he

of positioning, loading, and firing the cannons they would be using. Hamilton and
his unit were placed under the command of Henry Knox. Henry was General
Washington s commander of artillery. Hamilton and his unit fought in the battle of
New York. In the battle of New York General William Howe had an army twice the
size of Washington s army. Washington took notice of Hamilton when he was
commanding his artillery unit in the battle of New York. Due to this Washington
asked Hamilton to be his Aide de camp. An Aide de Camp is a personal assistant in
the military. Hamilton did not want to become an aide de camp, he would have
preferred to stay in the field but his artillery unit was almost gone due to illness
and them deserting. Hamilton was promoted to Lieutenant Colonel. Hamilton
would serve Washington at his headquarters. Hamilton was not Washington s only
Aide de Camp, there could be up to six other aides at once. Hamilton spent very
long hours writing letters and military orders. Only once when Alexander was an
Aide did he see action, he was outside Philadelphia in 1777 scouting and he came
under British fire. Hamilton grew to be friends with Marquis de Lafayette, he was
a 19 year old French noblemen. He also became friends with Colonel John Laurens,
later in their life they would try to convince Congress to create a regiment of slaves
who would become free if they served in the army. The Colonel was killed in a
skirmish between the British in 1782. Most of all Hamilton became friends with
George Washington. This friendship lasted more than 20 years. Due to this friendship
Washington got to see how Hamilton thought and how good he was at

Candidiasis
Introduction
Candidiasis refers to the fungal infection caused by any Candida which is a form of
yeast. There are more than 20 species of candida yeast that might cause illnesses in
people, but the common Candida species is the Candida albicans (Hospenthal
Rinaldi, 2015). However, the yeasts are found in small amounts in the mucous
membrane and skin, and they do not cause infection, but the overgrowth would lead
to infection. Specific drugs and health issues may cause the yeast to overgrow
especially in warm and moist body parts leading dangerous symptoms. The signs and
symptoms of candidiasis depend on the part of the human body that is infected
(Contreras Fuentes, 2013). Health centers in many nations have reported that
Candida species cause fungal infections leading to hospitalization of patients. The
paper focuses on candidiasis by exploring its causes, epidemiology, types, diagnosis
and treatment as well as prevention measures and risk factors. The thesis of the
paper is that candidiasis is a fatal disease that can lead to defects and even death.
Epidemiology
In the United States, Candida is the third cause of nosocomial bloodstream diseases
accounting for about 8 10 percent of the cases. Moreover, three quarter of females in
America experience vaginitis during their life with 25 percent caused by Candida
(Contreras Fuentes, 2013). The invasive candidiasis is the prominent infection among
all fungal diseases since it accounts 70 to 90 percent of
History of Economic Thought
History of economic thought
Theorists who have shaped the development of economy and economic thought
through the centuries have invariably been affected by their countries and situations.
That this is so can be traced by eh thoughts of some of the most prominent economic
theoreticians that include Smith, Ricardo, Malthus, Marx, and Keynes. Each of these
in turn has produced their own ideas about reproduction of labor force in classical
political economy. Labor has traditionally been related to growth outcome of product
and trade, rise (and as some see it negative influence or increasing rationalization) of
capitalism, and complexity of industrialization. Adam Smith is widely considered the
founder of economics and the father of capitalism. What is less well known is the
fact that he was influenced by French philosophers and writers who shared his dislike
of mercantilism. Influenced by these writers, Smith developed the theory of an
invisible hand that became the bedrock of Western Capitalism. Often misquoted,
Smith is both praised and discredited as the father of one of the most influential
movements in history. Smith was the first oen who was prescriptive rather than
descriptive and hence the popularity of his system.
According to Smith, in his Wealth of Nations, competition is the foundational source
of national wealth and governments should refrain and abstain from interfering in
free trade. On the contrary, tariffs, taxes, and other regulations should serve purely

The location brought the difficulties of the Andes. We traveled to the very rivers
that sustained villages of rudimentary hunter gatherer villages starting in 3600 B.C.
to 2500 B.C. These evolved by 3000 B.C. by beginning to farm and ultimately
became dignified civilizations. We discussed the first of them, the Chavin, found in
the mountains from 900 B.C. to 200 B.C. We visited the site of their ruins that
contained pyramids, plazas, and sizable earthen mounds. While having no evidence
of any significant political or economical framework, they had an importance placed
on their religious foundations. This, along with their art, carried on to the other
cultures of the area. The Nazca lasted from 200 B.C. to A.D. 600 on the dry Southern

The forest workers have it even worse than the police who comb and investigate
the forest. The workers are tasked with the job of carrying the bodies down from
the forest to the local station, where the bodies are put in a special room used
specifically to house suicide corpses . The forest workers then play janken, rock
paper scissors, to see who has to sleep in the room with the corpse. The reason for
these strange sleeping arrangements is that it is believed if the corpse is left alone,
it s very bad luck for the ghost of the suicide victim. Their spirits are said to scream
throughout the night if left alone, and their bodies will get up and shuffle around,
searching for company . The people who live by always know what type of person
is going into the forest. There are three types: the curious ones, just the visitors,
and the people who plan a one way trip. Police say that the number of suicides is no

the number was 54 dead and 247 people who tried. The people who work in the
little shops and cafes around Aokigahara talk to many of the people before they go

Mother In Refugee Camp Poem Analysis
Remember by Christina Rossetti, Mother in Refugee Camp by Chinua Achebe and
War Photographer by Carol Ann Duffy all explore different perspectives of death and
its inevitability. In the poem Mother in Refugee Camp, Chinua Achebe exposes the
reader to the realistic and horrific conditions of a refugee camp, culminating in the
lamentable death of the child. The language, the use of metaphors and similes and
structure call attention to the idea of cyclical death in a refugee camp. The poem War
Photographer explores the continual cycle of death in war zones. Duffy examines the
predicament the war photographer faces whether to intervene in the ongoing conflict
or to uncover the reality and destruction of conflict. However, Remember exhibits a...

Persuasive Essay On The Electric Fire
Imagine coming home on a bitterly cold iciness s nighttime to a cozily warm house,
and after you have got made yourself a steaming cup of cocoa, and have settled into
your favorite recliner chair, you retake a seat and relax in the front of a lovely fire.
The conventional fashion mantelpiece is extraordinary with an antique o.K.Mantel
and rich brown brickwork. Your eyes settle on the hearththis is aglow with golden
flames, burning logs, and smoldering purple coals.
As the flames flicker and dance and the warm temperature embrace you with simply
the proper quantity of heat, you smile and say, This electric fire is one of the
exceptional investments I ve ever made. And you would be proper!
If you are seeking out a cleaner and smoke free manner of heating up your dwelling

your property in addition to supplying you with that a whole lot preferred an
atmosphere of a wood burning hearth.
There are more than one reasons why an electric fireplace should be a part of every

An electric hearth gives you the actual sense of a real fire while not having to play

My Memories
Every night I m haunted by my worst memory/memories. I ve been haunted by
them for a year and six months. My past ruined me, a relationship ruined me that I
stayed in for too long. I was emotionally and physically abused. I ll hopefully get
over it one day eventually, I m hoping coming out and telling of it will help me get
closure and lose the memory of him. I put everything on the line to be with him, I
snuck out, I lied, I ruined my relationship with my parents and many other things. I
snuck out every weekend to be with him and it ruined me. Repeatedly I was called
stupid, a dumba** and multiple other things that hurt a young girls feelings. And I
still stayed with him because I thought I loved him. When he hurt me physically I
asked him to stop, and he did, but only for a few days. My nightmares are one
night in particular. We were standing in the garage while he was smoking a
cigarette then I asked him to stop his smoking habits, and he got defensive, we
started arguing then he got physical with me. He started pushing me and I kept
backing up, then he pushed me while I was backing away from him which caused me
to lose my balance and I fell backwards onto the garage floor. He then proceeded to
kick me yelling at me to get up, I screamed at him to stop and when he did I got up.
He then hugged me and said he was sorry and that he would make it up to me one
day. Well, he did make it up to me. The next day I received flowers and my
Capital Punishment Is Cruel And Unusual
Although many people believe that capital punishment is cruel and unusual. It is the
only punishment that can truly compensate the loss of a loved one. In recent years,
the rate of serious crimes has increased. The increase of crime is the result of less
effective punishment. Dating back to early civilizations, capital punishment, also
known as the death penalty, was viewed as an effective punishment. Yet today s
society it is viewed as cruel and inhumane. I believe that capital punishment should be
executed more often because; the rate of serious crimewill decrease, free up prison
space, and would serve as the ultimate warning. What is capital punishment? Capital
punishment is the lawful way to take a person s life, once convicted of a serious
crime, such as first degree murder. Some people agree it is the most appropriate
punishment to all vile murder cases (Williams), but others call it cruel and
unconstitutional. There are a variety of methods in the death penalty. The method
used most would be lethal injections, due to its quickness, effectiveness, and pain
less results. My first reason why I believe the death penalty should be executed
more often is because it could possibly help the problem of overcrowding in
prisons. States such as Texas and California, mainly suffer from this problem due to
its vast population and crime rate. Instead of keeping inmates for life in prison, its
better to execute the one s with the most serious crimes than to release them or

Morality in O’Brien’s Going After Cacciato Essay
Morality in O Brien s Going After Cacciato
Going After Cacciato, by Tim O Brien, is a book that presents many problems in
understanding. Simply trying to figure out what is real and what is fantasy and
where they combine can be quite a strain on the reader. Yet even more clouded and
ambiguous are the larger moral questions raised in this book. There are many so
called war crimes or atrocities in this book, ranging from killing a water buffalo to
fragging the commanding officer. Yet they are dealt with in an almost offhanded
way. They seem to become simply the moral landscape upon which a greater drama
is played i.e. the drama of running away from war, seeking peace in Paris. This
journey after Cacciato turns into a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This certainly comes out in the fragging incident, when the squad kills Lieutenant
Sidney Martin. But there s something more. Another time, O Brien was quoted as
saying, My concerns have to do with the abstractions: ... How does one do right in an
evil situation? (Bates 263). That is the big question, of course, that this novel deals
with. See, the point that O Brien is making is not that war is an evil situation. He s
trying to take that for granted and move beyond. Now that you ve got this evil
situation, what do you do?
Where is the good? In the observation post, Paul Berlin remembered what his father
had said on their last night along the Des Moines River. You ll see some terrible
stuff, I guess. That s how it goes. But try to look for the good things, too. They ll
be there if you look. So watch for them (O Brien 58). So he does look for the good
things. That s beauty being born out of despair, if you will. He enjoys watching
the sunrise. And Bates refers to Paul Berlin helping treat a young Vietnamese girl
and having sensitive feelings towards her (270). This is almost as if to say that
war brings out the best as well as the worst in us. Some may argue that it s almost
worth it. ( Almost being the key word for clearly the good in a war does not
outweigh or even equal the bad.)
Here s where purpose gets involved. Most believe that there is a greater good. Some
reason for fighting the war. Politics. Ideology. The things Paul Berlin thinks
The Implementation Of Basel IIi
1On 20 May this year the Amendment to the Banks Act regulations ( Regulations )
in terms of section 90 of the Banks Act, 1990 ( Banks Act ) were published in the
government gazette and will come into effect on 1 July 2016. A number of
cosmetic changes have been made to the Regulations but a few material changes
will be highlighted in this alert. 2Subsequent to the implementation of Basel III in
South Africa on 1 January 2013, the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (
BCBS ) issued revised requirements in respect of a wide range of matters which
necessitated amendments to our regulations. The Regulations now cater for the
changes to capital disclosure requirements, changes to the Liquidity Coverage
Ratio ( LCR ), requirements related to intraday liquidity management and public
disclosure requirements related to the LCR. 3Regulation 38(16) was amended to
incorporate South African Reserve Bank ( SARB ) Directive 05/2014 which dealt
with obtaining the Registrar of Banks consent before reducing qualifying capital
and reserve funds. Regulation 38(5)(a)(i)(K) which deals with deductions which
need to be made from a bank s common equity tier 1 capital and reserve funds has
been amended to include investment in a foreign branch in order to clarify the
treatment of capital invested in foreign branches. 4Regulation 38(17) dealing with
the calculation of a banks LCR has been substituted by a new Regulation 38(15)
which incorporates the latest Basel III framework as well as

some may think he is optimistic, I think Prufrock is pessimistic because he keeps
talking himself out of asking his big question, questions his social acceptance, and
by how gives up and accepts his failure. The first indication is by how J. Alfred
Prufrock keeps talking himself out of his question. The poem resonates on his

The last indication is by how he gives up. The main point of the poem is based on
how the narrator never asked his question. He never asks it because he is afraid of
what her answer will consist of. He has convinced himself that she will say that is
not what I meant at all; That is not it, at all (Eliot). Instead, he accepts the onslaught
of old age and decides that no romance awaits him (Lewis). Prufrock has lost all
hope in himself and in his future, due to his pessimistic attitude. Unlike optimistic, J.
Alfred Prufrock is pessimistic due to talking himself out of his question, becoming
concerned over social acceptance, and by giving up to acknowledge his defeat. Eliot
s poetry examined the feelings of loneliness, alienation, and frustration that many
people felt living in impersonal modern cities ( The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock
). Everyone in the Modernism Era experienced hardships and had pessimistic
attitudes; (just like Prufrock) they were convinced that there was no escaping

The Definition Of Blind By Texas State University
Diversity is usually portrayed as the acceptance of many different races and
geographical cultures. It is not as common to hear the lack of diversity towards the
blind community but it exists. The attendance of Texas State University has opened
up the doors to one of the most diverse places I have had the chance to experience
first hand. Although Texas State has become somewhat of a safe haven, that does not
displace the fact that there is stereotyping everywhere against the blind.
According to the Oxford Dictionary, the definition of blind is unable to see;
sightless (Definition of Blind in English, 2015). However, I do not like to be put in
such a box. I define blindness as merely a heightening of other senses. What do you
think of when you hear the word sight? More than likely you think of shapes,
colors, and objects. My idea of sight consists of many senses; smell, touch, sounds,
those are the things that I see with. How about the word blind; what do you think
of then? The most common relation to the word blind is disabled; however, we are
a very abled people. Even though I carry a cane among my person I get through my
daily life just as any other able bodied human being (Question 1).
My name is Melony Fey Harper and I am blind. I am just another girl on just another
campus getting through just another day. There are a few differences, however, in
the structure of a typical person s day and my own. I wake up, brush my teeth, put on
my makeup, and head downstairs
El Chapo Shunning Quotes
Shunning means to avoid someone or something from motives of dislike or
caution. People shun today for various reasons. He or she may do things that are
considered not ethical, he may break the law, or he may be rejected by society. It is
putative to say that shunning is in some way a type of bullying. In other words, it
can affect them to a great extent. Everyone had been a victim or a witness of

situation. They seem as if the situation does not bother him on the outside, but deeply
inside it has an affect on them.
Considering this, Joaquin El Chapo Guzman is a big time drug lord in Mexico. He
was born April 4, 1957. As a child, his family was in penury. His father was an abuser

People do not look at them as a hero or a person that done something great. They
are shunned by their unlawful actions. They are looked at in a different light than
others. Both of them are considered criminals for going against the law. It seems as
though that El Chapo s sin is worse than Hester s. But back in Hester s time, her sin
is just as great as something like El Chapo s. Hester was looked upon as one of the
worst because she was the first in her town to do such a thing as she did. She went
to jail for a period time, was publicly humiliated on the scaffold, and had to wear
the letter A upon her bosom. She was an example to the people. Her sin was
commonly used in sermons in the church. Hester became popular for the sin she
committed. Similarly, El Chapo did jail time. He is used as an example to others that
they cannot hide forever. He gained much popularity from this, but not in a good
manner. Even though he is not physically branded, he still wears the letter of shame,

Old Yeller Analysis
Old Yeller is a coming of age novel set in 1860s Texas that details the relationship
between the Coates family, especially the 14 year old son, Travis, and a stray dog
named Old Yeller. The dog is named both for his dingy yellow coat ( yeller as
pronounced in the southern accent that permeates the narrative) and his bark, which
sounds more like a yell than the standard animal call. Yeller comes into the Coates
familys life after Jim, the father of the family, leaves on a cattle drive to Kansas.
Before he leaves, Jim tells Travis that he is now the man of the house until he
returns home, a designation which motivates Travis to take responsibility and make
sacrifices for the good of his family. If Travis can prove himself worthy of the
designation of being a man, his father promises to give him a man s horse.
Although the Coates family is at the center of the narrative, it is Travis relationship
with Yeller that is the focus. When Yeller is first introduced, Travis not only finds
him to be a nuisance but actively despises him. The first time the dog is seen by
Travis and the reader is the day after Jim has left the family. Yeller has devoured a
piece of meat that the family was about to prepare for a meal. Yeller continues to
cause trouble, with only younger brother Arliss devotion to him keeping Travis from
pushing him away from the household.
Travis changes his stance only after Yeller displays his singular heroism and instinct.
Arliss, for whom collecting critters is

Essays On Character.pdf

  • 1. Essays On Character Crafting an essay on the theme of "Essays on Character" presents its own set of challenges, demanding a nuanced exploration of a multifaceted concept. Character, in this context, encompasses a spectrum of attributes, virtues, and moral dimensions that individuals possess. Unraveling this intricate tapestry requires a profound understanding of human nature, psychology, and societal influences. One of the primary difficulties lies in defining and delineating the parameters of character itself. Character is not a monolithic entity; it comprises traits, habits, and ethical considerations, making it a formidable task to encapsulate its essence within the confines of an essay. Striking the right balance between generalization and specificity is a tightrope walk, as one must delve into universal aspects while also acknowledging the uniqueness of individual characters. Furthermore, delving into the philosophical and ethical aspects of character necessitates a careful examination of cultural, historical, and personal contexts. This intricate interplay adds layers of complexity, demanding a nuanced and well-researched approach. Analyzing characters from literature, history, or contemporary society can be intellectually stimulating but requires a discerning eye to draw meaningful insights and connections. The task becomes more challenging when one endeavors to intertwine theoretical perspectives with real-life examples. Balancing the theoretical underpinnings of character development with practical illustrations requires a judicious selection of examples and an adept articulation of the connections between theory and reality. In addition, maintaining coherence and a logical flow in the essay is crucial. The diverse dimensions of character—ranging from integrity and resilience to empathy and self- discipline—must be seamlessly woven together, creating a cohesive narrative that captivates the reader's attention while delivering insightful reflections. Ultimately, writing an essay on "Essays on Character" demands more than just linguistic proficiency; it requires a deep engagement with human nature, a capacity for critical analysis, and the ability to synthesize varied perspectives into a harmonious whole. It is an intellectual endeavor that challenges the writer to navigate the labyrinth of human experience and offer meaningful insights. For those grappling with such a task, seeking assistance is a prudent option. If you find yourself in need of guidance, similar essays and much more can be ordered on HelpWriting.net, where experienced writers can help you articulate your thoughts and insights on the intricate topic of character. • 3. Essay On Speech-Language Pathology My story behind choosing to study Speech Language Pathology is much different than many who are in the program. As far back into my childhood as I can remember, I have had an indescribable passion for children with special needs. In high school, there were times when special needs students in my classes needed partners, and I would often be asked to work with them because the teachers recognized the compassion and the patience that I held in my heart for them. I strived to find an area of study that would incorporate this love for children, and the desire I have for being a helping hand in all situations. I graduated high school with the long term goal of becoming a clinical therapist who works specifically with children. I did pursue this, and I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology. However, I soon learned that this wasn t what I felt destined to do. After a lot of research and even more prayers, I decided that Speech Language Pathology... With only 3 months of practice, I already feel as if I ve known the International Phonetic Alphabet my entire life. I do realize, however, that Phonetics is only a portion of what Speech Pathologists work with. It wasn t until taking the Anatomy class this semester that I considered what it would be like to work with elderly patients. I am eager to start the clinical observations that are required in the Spring semester because there are so many different areas that I am unfamiliar with, and I m excited to jump right
  • 4. The P2P Piracy Prevention Act Attacks Consumers Essay The P2P Piracy Prevention Act Attacks Consumers Peer to peer (P2P) networks have had a staggering growth in the past few years. Since Napster, dozens of P2P networks have been created in its imitation. Due to the growing accessibility of broadband, which increases the speed of downloads, P2P networks generate nearly 1.8 billion downloads per month. Popularity and acceptance is still continually growing. As many users see P2P software as just file sharing, entertainment industries and other big companies see it as copyright infringement and stealing from copyright owners without their rightful authorization or compensation. These companies complain that P2P file sharing threatens the survival of the industries and believe that there ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Berman proposed a legislation called the Peer to Peer Piracy Prevention Act last year that ensures that all copyright owners won t face liability for using reasonable, limited self help to prevent the theft of their works on peer to peer networks such as Kazaa and Gnutella. The bill says that since no legislation can eliminate the problem of P2P piracy, the law should allow copyright owners to take action into their own hands in protecting and preventing infringements on their products. With this act, Congress can help manage problematic issues of the market without interfering with the system itself. Furthermore, this bill would allow copyright owners to enter and look into a P2P user s computer to the same extent that any other P2P user is able to, and allows the owners to take limited measures to prevent and stop the distribution of their copyrighted property. The problem with this bill is that it s unethical. Swapping or sharing files with another user is not illegal. It is the act of sharing copywritten files without authorization or rightful compensation to the owners that makes it illegal. However, giving rights to copyright owners to look into P2P users computer files is an invasion of privacy and that is illegal too. Berman tries to say that the P2P Piracy Prevention Act primarily allows owners to retrieve or protect their property much like a bicycle owner grabbing his bike from a thief s yard . But nonetheless this act is basically asking
  • 5. Life Events In My Life My life events I had many good and bad thing happen to me in my life and even to this day, but today I will only be talking about the positive and fun moments or events that I had with friends or family. I have a great deal of friends throughout my life that I m proud of. I had and a lot of fun moments with them. Same thing goes with all my family and relatives that I love very much and are all fun to be with too. I had this one very fun time at school way back in Nanaimo where my friend and I got dared by another friend to jump off a swing. It was high up and we had to do a 360 no scope. While I succeeded, my friend Chase failed and flopped down like a plane crashing. There was also this time in Nanaimo, where my friend Jessy had a birthday and he invited me to his party. We watched movies, ate pizza and popcorn. We even went as far as spraying each other with a team water gun battle. Chase was one of the captains and Jesse was the other team captain to pick the team players. The party was a great old time. Now we move on to when I was very young and still pretty small. • 6. Examples Of Innocence In Catcher In The Rye Ethan Skophammer November 16th, 2017 6th Hour The Age of Innocence There is only one experience that unites every single person in the world. Many people in the world can agree that it isn t always the greatest experience, and many people have an extremely hard time getting through it, but every single adult goes through the act of growing up . For many, the transition can be very depressing, and confusing. When a child is young becoming an adult seems to be enjoyable and exciting, but it isn t until that child is forced into the cruel, harsh world where the innocence of childhood can be appreciated and missed. The novel Catcher in the Rye explores how teenagers who are nearing adulthood see the adult world to be incomprehensible. J.D Salinger illustrates the confusion of a teenager when faced with the challenge of transitioning into adulthood using Holden Caulfield. J.D. Salinger illustrates how one reacts to adult challenges with efforts to maintain innocence. As humans our main initial instincts are either to engage or run away when given a challenge. Holden s initial response to adulthood approaching him was to fight it. The museum is an example of an important place to Holden as it is one of the few places he can rely on to stay the same. The best thing, though, in that museum was that everything always stayed right where it was (121). To Holden the museum is serves as like an escape from the complicated adult life of reality. This idea gives the reader the
  • 7. The Historical Development Of Capitalism The most effective system to exist in the world, capitalism, triumphed in uniting the world into a solitary system. Capitalism can be defined as an economic system in which employers hire workers to produce goods and services that will be marketed with the intention of making a profit (Bowles et al., 2005) (p. 74). Furthermore, the social order is significantly impacted by the relationship between the capitalist mode of production and the mode of exchange, however, there is a rebuttal in the economic order of this system. The purpose of this essay is to, first explain what Engel s means by historical materialism, and then to analyze the fundamental contradictions the capitalist mode of production has on the social order, and examine the social and economic problems that arise from the contradiction. The conclusion of this essay will state the outcome of the historical development of capitalism, according to Engels. It is very important for one to understand the concept of historical materialism before analyzing Engels ideas and critiques of capitalism. Historical materialism examines the material conditions of the society, along with social relations and social structure. In simple words, this means that material conditions shape the social structure and economy. In his work Theoretical, Engels establishes what he means by historical materialism. Engels (1939) states The materialist conception of history starts from the principle that production, and with

It is the fundamental building blocks of good education, in determining the decisions we make and how it further deepens one s knowledge. It can inspire people to be generous, or provoke people to hate and fear. It can change the world by deepening the purpose of good or bad. It can turn a speaker into a hero or enemy. It can turn a listener into an alley or an opponent. Communication involves the beautiful art of interactions and understandings between the souls of our society. Little do we realise, rhetoricis ceaselessly moulding our human experience through the means of persuasionand transformation. Good morning to my fellow Year 12 Good Samaritan advanced students, it is clear that despite contextual differences of texts, the amalgamation of rhetoric, textual integrity, purpose and form establishes a resonating message to audiences. Therefore, composers employ great rhetoric and cohesiveness in their speeches which have the capability to persuade and transform society s views, attitudes and beliefs. This is undoubtedly clear in Paul Keating s, Redfern Speech and Anwar Sadat s, Speech to the Israeli Knesset , which both exhibit the power of words in refining our perspectives and ideas. They both achieve value beyond the time and place in which they were first delivered. Great rhetoric can have the potential to persuade the audience into

Health Information Technology and Medical Malpractice Lawsuit Liability Introduction Health information technology (HIT) has become a growing phenomenon in the past sev eral years. In one line Godwin presents a reader with enough levels of complexity to easily fill an entire essay; why is one of the most prominent characters (and the son of the main character referred to as the boy ? Does his focus on the tuckey emphasize his love of the idea and duties of a mother, as opposed to the actual person? Yet all of these quarries pale in comparison to an analysis of the text preceding this small quote. The end of Godwin s A Sorrowful Woman demonstrates the power of rhetoric, contrast, and detached narration in creating the text s message that the archetypal role of mother and wife is so constricting and limiting to cause the mother to end her life. Word choice proves one of the more fascinating aspects of Godwin s text, specifically her use of repetition emphasize relevant details that may have otherwise gone unnoticed. The most prominent example of this comes in the two hand knitted sweaters (both of the same gray color) As a stand alone quote, no one word stands out. Yet in the beginning of the text the child s gray eyes are referenced, in conjunction with The shirt was the gray of the child s trusting gaze. The main items that any railroad needs to build a stretch of track from one city to another are wooden ties, spikes, rails, and the ballast (stones). The ballast is laid down first and is smoothed out for the workers who can then lay down the ties that are spread out from each tie at a distance of two feet. It is critical to use ballast over the ground foundation. The ballast keeps the rails off the ground and

What Was The Primary Cause Of The First Crusades he subject of the crusades is still a very controversial topic that spans across various time periods and has religious, social, and political implications. The first crusade started off as a widespread pilgrimage that ended as a military expedition resulting in the recapture of Jerusalem in 1099. The crusadesinitiated from a call from help from Alexius for the protection of Constantinople and the recovery of Anatolia. For centuries textbooks have repeated with routine regularity, that the immediate cause, of the Crusades was the Turkish conquest of the Near East, which apparently was a very real threat to Christendom, that had to be countered by military action. With this in mind, the primary purpose of this essay is to identify the various reasons that contributed to the start of the first crusade, while disproving the fact that the first Crusade was a response to a military threat. In discovering the true cause of the first crusades it is necessary to examine it from all aspects from the start to the finish. It all started with Alexius Comnenus the Byzantine emperor, sending letters and an embassy to the West requesting military aid to combat the Turkish threat in Asia Minor. Alexius had inherited a weakened empire in 1081 Byzantium was under siege from all sides, primarily by the Seljuk Turks. Alexius tried everything including making peaceful negotiations with the Turks that involved giving up pieces of land in exchange for peace. However, despite his attempts the

Victims of childhood trauma account for a portion of this group. Abused children have to undergo a series of adaptations in order to experience self preservation. The three major forms of adaptation include elaboration of dissociative defenses, development of fragmented identity, and pathological regulation of emotional states. When a child falls prey to an abuser, they cannot form inner representations of safety. Not only do they become attached to strangers, but they also cling to their abusers. During this time, Herman refers to fragmentation as becoming the central principle of personality organization . Normal regulations of emotional states are also disrupted, resulting in dysphoria, chronic anxiety, and chronic depression which can last into adulthood. Normal regulations of emotional states are also affected by the elaboration of dissociative defenses. When an individual becomes too accustomed to using dissociation as a defense mechanism, they can experience something referred to as annihilation panic . The forest workers have it even worse than the police who comb and investigate the forest. The workers are tasked with the job of carrying the bodies down from the forest to the local station, where the bodies are put in a special room used specifically to house suicide corpses . The forest workers then play janken, rock paper scissors, to see who has to sleep in the room with the corpse. The reason for these strange sleeping arrangements is that it is believed if the corpse is left alone, it s very bad luck for the ghost of the suicide victim. Their spirits are said to scream throughout the night if left alone, and their bodies will get up and shuffle around, searching for company . The people who live by always know what type of person is going into the forest. There are three types: the curious ones, just the visitors, and the people who plan a one way trip. Police say that the number of suicides is no longer released due to the abundant amount. Last number released was in 2010 and the number was 54 dead and 247 people who tried. Mother In Refugee Camp Poem Analysis Remember by Christina Rossetti, Mother in Refugee Camp by Chinua Achebe and War Photographer by Carol Ann Duffy all explore different perspectives of death and its inevitability. In the poem Mother in Refugee Camp, Chinua Achebe exposes the reader to the realistic and horrific conditions of a refugee camp, culminating in the lamentable death of the child. The language, the use of metaphors and similes and structure call attention to the idea of cyclical death in a refugee camp. The poem War Photographer explores the continual cycle of death in war zones. Duffy examines the predicament the war photographer faces whether to intervene in the ongoing conflict or to uncover the reality and destruction of conflict. However, Remember exhibits a... The phrase white eyes maybe suggests of his ghost like appearance and the word writhing possibly tells us the struggle to stay alive. Through these lines and imagery, Owen is able to describe war and conflict in a more graphical way. Furthermore, Dulce et Decorum is similar to War Photographer in the way where imagery is used to describe the

My past ruined me, a relationship ruined me that I stayed in for too long. I was emotionally and physically abused. I ll hopefully get over it one day eventually, I m hoping coming out and telling of it will help me get closure and lose the memory of him. I put everything on the line to be with him, I snuck out, I lied, I ruined my relationship with my parents and many other things. I snuck out every weekend to be with him and it ruined me. Repeatedly I was called stupid, a dumba** and multiple other things that hurt a young girls feelings. And I still stayed with him because I thought I loved him. When he hurt me physically I asked him to stop, and he did, but only for a few days. My nightmares are one night in particular. We were standing in the garage while he was smoking a cigarette then I asked him to stop his smoking habits, and he got defensive, we started arguing then he got physical with me. He started pushing me and I kept backing up, then he pushed me while I was backing away from him which caused me to lose my balance and I fell backwards onto the garage floor. He then proceeded to kick me yelling at me to get up, I screamed at him to stop and when he did I got up. He then hugged me and said he was sorry and that he would make it up to me one day. Well, he did make it up to me. The next day I received flowers and my
  • 32. Capital Punishment Is Cruel And Unusual Although many people believe that capital punishment is cruel and unusual. It is the only punishment that can truly compensate the loss of a loved one. In recent years, the rate of serious crimes has increased. The increase of crime is the result of less effective punishment. Dating back to early civilizations, capital punishment, also known as the death penalty, was viewed as an effective punishment. Yet today s society it is viewed as cruel and inhumane. I believe that capital punishment should be executed more often because; the rate of serious crimewill decrease, free up prison space, and would serve as the ultimate warning. What is capital punishment? Capital punishment is the lawful way to take a person s life, once convicted of a serious crime, such as first degree murder. Some people agree it is the most appropriate punishment to all vile murder cases (Williams), but others call it cruel and unconstitutional. There are a variety of methods in the death penalty. The method used most would be lethal injections, due to its quickness, effectiveness, and pain less results. My first reason why I believe the death penalty should be executed more often is because it could possibly help the problem of overcrowding in prisons. States such as Texas and California, mainly suffer from this problem due to its vast population and crime rate. Instead of keeping inmates for life in prison, its better to execute the one s with the most serious crimes than to release them or

  • 35. Morality in O’Brien’s Going After Cacciato Essay Morality in O Brien s Going After Cacciato Going After Cacciato, by Tim O Brien, is a book that presents many problems in understanding. Simply trying to figure out what is real and what is fantasy and where they combine can be quite a strain on the reader. Yet even more clouded and ambiguous are the larger moral questions raised in this book. There are many so called war crimes or atrocities in this book, ranging from killing a water buffalo to fragging the commanding officer. Yet they are dealt with in an almost offhanded way. They seem to become simply the moral landscape upon which a greater drama is played i.e. the drama of running away from war, seeking peace in Paris. This journey after Cacciato turns into a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This certainly comes out in the fragging incident, when the squad kills Lieutenant Sidney Martin. But there s something more. Another time, O Brien was quoted as saying, My concerns have to do with the abstractions: ... How does one do right in an evil situation? (Bates 263). That is the big question, of course, that this novel deals with. See, the point that O Brien is making is not that war is an evil situation. He s trying to take that for granted and move beyond. Now that you ve got this evil situation, what do you do? Where is the good? In the observation post, Paul Berlin remembered what his father had said on their last night along the Des Moines River. You ll see some terrible stuff, I guess. That s how it goes. But try to look for the good things, too. They ll be there if you look. So watch for them (O Brien 58). So he does look for the good things. That s beauty being born out of despair, if you will. He enjoys watching the sunrise. And Bates refers to Paul Berlin helping treat a young Vietnamese girl and having sensitive feelings towards her (270). This is almost as if to say that war brings out the best as well as the worst in us. Some may argue that it s almost worth it. ( Almost being the key word for clearly the good in a war does not outweigh or even equal the bad.) Here s where purpose gets involved. Most believe that there is a greater good. Some reason for fighting the war. Politics. Ideology. The things Paul Berlin thinks

Why is Prufrock so pessimistic? Even though some may think he is optimistic, I think Prufrock is pessimistic because he keeps talking himself out of asking his big question, questions his social acceptance, and by how gives up and accepts his failure. The first indication is by how J. Alfred Prufrock keeps talking himself out of his question. The last indication is by how he gives up. The main point of the poem is based on how the narrator never asked his question. He never asks it because he is afraid of what her answer will consist of. He has convinced himself that she will say that is not what I meant at all; That is not it, at all (Eliot). Instead, he accepts the onslaught of old age and decides that no romance awaits him (Lewis). Prufrock has lost all hope in himself and in his future, due to his pessimistic attitude. Unlike optimistic, J. Alfred Prufrock is pessimistic due to talking himself out of his question, becoming concerned over social acceptance, and by giving up to acknowledge his defeat. Eliot s poetry examined the feelings of loneliness, alienation, and frustration that many people felt living in impersonal modern cities ( The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock ). Everyone in the Modernism Era experienced hardships and had pessimistic attitudes; (just like Prufrock) they were convinced that there was no escaping

  • 39. The Definition Of Blind By Texas State University Diversity is usually portrayed as the acceptance of many different races and geographical cultures. It is not as common to hear the lack of diversity towards the blind community but it exists. The attendance of Texas State University has opened up the doors to one of the most diverse places I have had the chance to experience first hand. Although Texas State has become somewhat of a safe haven, that does not displace the fact that there is stereotyping everywhere against the blind. According to the Oxford Dictionary, the definition of blind is unable to see; sightless (Definition of Blind in English, 2015). However, I do not like to be put in such a box. I define blindness as merely a heightening of other senses. What do you think of when you hear the word sight? More than likely you think of shapes, colors, and objects. My idea of sight consists of many senses; smell, touch, sounds, those are the things that I see with. How about the word blind; what do you think of then? The most common relation to the word blind is disabled; however, we are a very abled people. Even though I carry a cane among my person I get through my daily life just as any other able bodied human being (Question 1). My name is Melony Fey Harper and I am blind. I am just another girl on just another campus getting through just another day. There are a few differences, however, in the structure of a typical person s day and my own. I wake up, brush my teeth, put on my makeup, and head downstairs

  • 42. Old Yeller Analysis Old Yeller is a coming of age novel set in 1860s Texas that details the relationship between the Coates family, especially the 14 year old son, Travis, and a stray dog named Old Yeller. The dog is named both for his dingy yellow coat ( yeller as pronounced in the southern accent that permeates the narrative) and his bark, which sounds more like a yell than the standard animal call. Yeller comes into the Coates familys life after Jim, the father of the family, leaves on a cattle drive to Kansas. Before he leaves, Jim tells Travis that he is now the man of the house until he returns home, a designation which motivates Travis to take responsibility and make sacrifices for the good of his family. If Travis can prove himself worthy of the designation of being a man, his father promises to give him a man s horse. Although the Coates family is at the center of the narrative, it is Travis relationship with Yeller that is the focus. When Yeller is first introduced, Travis not only finds him to be a nuisance but actively despises him. The first time the dog is seen by Travis and the reader is the day after Jim has left the family. Yeller has devoured a piece of meat that the family was about to prepare for a meal. Yeller continues to cause trouble, with only younger brother Arliss devotion to him keeping Travis from pushing him away from the household. Travis changes his stance only after Yeller displays his singular heroism and instinct. Arliss, for whom collecting critters is
