Loyalty And Chivalry Throughout The Middle Ages
Throughout the Middle Ages, wealth and status granted by God was the main defining feature of
power within a hierarchical status, yet within all upper levels of society, the concepts that defined
individuals and groups were that of honour, and military prowess. These two concepts also incorporate
ideas of manners and morals for those of higher standard within society to practice. All together this
can be incorporated into the idea of chivalry, a word and idea commonly used within medieval Europe
to describe a set of values with a large emphasis on upholding high social and moral standards, as well
as devout loyalty to God and liege. However within the concept of maintaining loyalty to both God
and liege created individual conflict between church ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most knights and those with education within the realm of chivalry were brought up to be traditionally
religious, often enacting the pious and obedient role ascribed to them as sons of Holy Mother Church,
showing how spiritual ideas of Catholicism and chivalry shared virtues important to both the clergy
and nobility. Zealousness was also an impact chivalry had on medieval society due to the ties almost
all knights had with the Roman Catholic faith, as during the periods of crusades many people used
chivalry as justification and defence to support the religious backings behind these holy wars, and
through increased zealousness, the impact religion plays on chivalry is clearly visible. Yet the most
zealous task a knight could undertake would be that of a crusade, it was not only fighting for honour
but the trial by combat against a thoroughly demonized opponent merited more divine blessing that
ordinary fighting at home. Furthermore many knights justified the intensive labour and tasks as
[having] been assigned to them by divine will, outlining the attitude surrounding those following a
chivalrous code. Ultimately it was the devout religious code that causes knights and monarchs to a life
of devout social activities, and physical labour in the justification of a strict moral

Digital Transformation Of Legal Services
Digital transformation and the provision of legal services: what legal practice managers need to know
and do Digital transformation is changing the way that businesses operate across a range of industries,
and the legal industry is no exception. We would all agree that digital transformation is a current hot
topic, both locally and globally, but do you know that digital transformation as a concept is still
misunderstood by many? What exactly is digital transformation ? Let us start with a simple question, a
definition. What is digital transformation ? At its most basic level, or at its very core, digital
transformation is the use of technology to radically improve the performance of an organisation, and
this includes its people. Businesses, including us in the practice and business of law, often think of
digital transformation as a formal effort to revamp our vision, models and investments in order to
achieve our organisational goals and objectives, and importantly, stay competitive in the modern
digital economy and evolving legal landscape. Digital transformation in the professional services
industry In the professional services space, digital transformation is very much about realigning
technology and business models to more effectively engage with our clients and more efficiently
deliver our services to them. As legal practitioners, we would look at every touch point in the client
experience lifecycle as well as the matter/transaction lifecycle to identify how

My approach to finding research articles were to discover information regarding are there fewer

barcode medication, medication error rate, and technology medication errors. There were many
studies out there that focused on medication error rate, which then branched out into IV medication

Lack Of Leadership In Zappos
One of the world s most successful online retailers, Zappos, has garnered substantial amount of
attention in recent news. Zappos delivers an array or products over the Internet, such as shoes,

about $1.2 billion, remains as an independent subsidiary (Sanghera, 2015), retaining Tony Hsieh as the

company culture began to lose momentum with an expanding workforce and having more managers

Disadvantages Of Intermodal Transportation
Traffic congestion is a major urban issue and is not only environmentally harmful, but also costs the
travelers time and money. For these reasons, most of the cities in the world offer public transportation
methods so that more people can be moved efficiently to the same destination at once. However,
people living outside of these cities need to be inside of it in order to gain access to the benefits of
public transportation. Therefore, it has become an important project for Europe to offer travelers
intermodal transportation opportunities. Intermodal transportation involves people utilizing several
transportation methods to get from one place to another. One of the most common examples of
intermodal transportation is based on the installation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this, there are several parameters that could be set as preference to decide which route would be
ideal, for example we can choose the fastest one but also the cheapest one. Here, regarding to several
surveys [4] [7], it appears that the duration and the costs of travel are the most relevant parameters,
with costs being more important to the commuters. To choose the best parameter in this case, it is best
to create a survey and ask potential users for their preferences of what intermodal transportation
should offer them. This way, we increase the possibility for the usage of intermodal transportation in
Aachen since the most preferred parameters vary from city to city and especially country to country
because of different cultures. As shown in Figure 2, illustrating the routes on a map to the commuter is
an important step since that is the way of informing the user of the route and also distinguishes the
three steps described in Figure 1. The user should then be able to see the total costs but also the costs
for every single step, which includes the fuel costs, the car park ticket and the bus

The Rock Of Pop Rock
2000 s Due to pop music s popularity, rock experienced a diminished presence on the top 40 music
chart by the end of the decade, though the genre still sold well. In the early 2000s, there was an
astounding resurgence of interest in pop rock. This began in the year 2000 with the success of Blink
182 s song All the Small Things and Nine Days s song Absolutely (Story of a Girl) , both of which
peaked at #6 on the Billboard Hot 100. Pop rock is a genre that mixes catchy pop lyrics with rock
based instrumentation. The characteristics of pop rock are: it appeals to a general audience, rather than
to a sub culture. The music reflects existing trends and is based on dancing and uses dance orientated

was the kick start needed to shape rock into what it became in the late 1950 s onwards. THE
BEATLES The Beatles music was the start of modern pop rock, as we know it today. From infectious

the turbulent decade. They received amazing amounts of praise from people all over the world with
one of the biggest fan bases seen in that era. This changed the way people viewed musicians and

Symbol of the Conch in Lord of the Flies Essay
From Lord of the Flies, there were many things like Conch and Fire that symbolized something. One
of the most important symbols was the Conch. The Conch, which is a big shell that can be seen at the
beach symbolizes many things in the Lord of the Flies. The Conch represents power because it once
was able to control the boys with it, and it also symbolizes democracy because of anyone who has
their ideas and can speak their thoughts. The Conch represents unity because it was used to call an
assembly and was used to put the boys and keep the peace between the boys so nobody would fight
with each other. So, the conch is an important symbol in the novel, because it represents power,
democracy, and unity.

And another thing. We can t have everybody talking at once. We ll have to have hands up like at
school (33). Ralph tried to stay civilized like they did outside of the islands, so he made a rule that
everyone can speak for themselves and they could discuss about their ideas, but as the time went, Jack
started to break the rules what Ralph made. If they didn t broke the rules, there wouldn t be fights
against each other and everything would have gone alright. At the first few chapters of the book,
Ralph tries to hear every one s voice and thoughts like civilized people, and not doing dictatorship. I ll
give the conch to the next person to speak. He can hold it when he s speaking (33). This quote proves
that Ralph really tried to stay the same like before, and for few chapters, he was able to keep peace.
Ralph unlike Jack, was a democratic leader who tried to rule fairly by using Conch, which was used
communicating with others and anybody could speak if they want to and other boys had to listen to
him and don t interrupt him.
The Conch showed the unity of the boys too. Ralph used it for calling an assembly, and communicate
with others and keeping the peace between the boys. When they just got to the island, Piggy and
Ralph met and found the Conch, Ralph tried to blow it and finally, he knew how to make a noise with
it, and he got an idea with blowing the Conch. We can

The Importance Of Parents Discipline The Children
How does one suitably discipline their children? Should parents discipline their children at a young
age? When is it considered too much or too stridulous? Is it legal? A numerous amount of parents have
stumbled upon these questions, but can t seem to find a concrete answer or are having a difficult time
trying to discipline their children. Countless parents don t even bother disciplining and some try, but
don t succeed. As a parent, one can verbally discipline them, or physically discipline them. Both are
legal, but disciplining them too harshly or too softy can affect the outcome of how disciplined the
child becomes. As seen in studies done in the past, disciplining your children at a young age can
drastically benefit them as they progress in life, aid them succeed in school, and help them make wise
choices. A majority of parents attempt to discipline their children, but it doesn t seem to work
appropriately. As the majority of parents have wondered, how should a parent properly discipline their
children? When is it considered too much or too harsh? A parent can verbally discipline their children,
or physically discipline them. Both may work depending on how the child is. But, disciplining a child
too softly or too harshly can do the exact opposite by making them feel as if they are not controlled by
their parents or make them terrified of their parents (Ballard 16). For example, if a parent doesn t
discipline a child enough, the child will feel like he is greater than

Feudalism In The Carolingian World
1. Central authority became non existent in the Carolingian world, opening up travelers who were
Muslim, Magyar, and Viking. This made a new type of relationship between free individuals. Lords
and vassals came up with feudalism; it was never a consistent structure. The lords would give land to
their vassals in return for the vassals promise to fight. Most of the army had been foot soldiers until
the Asians introduced the stirrup, and with that; knights were born and they used coats of mail and
lances. This was costly and lengthy because the men had to train. Lords also had to give land to all of
the vassal s family, making land the most excellent gift a lord could grant to his vassal. The pieces of

The Effects Of Stress On The Workplace
The word stress is defined as a state of mental or emotional strain or tension resulting from adverse or
very demanding circumstances. The world is full of endless opportunities; we are allowed to pursue
anything in life through hard work. This is something that is emphasized early in life through school.
Generally not everyone is informed of the stresses of certain routes chosen in life through occupations.
There is now ways to find out how stressful jobs are. Schools are providing classes required by the
state to teach. It is no secret that some jobs are more stressful than others. What may not be known as
much is how to avoid that stress in the workplace. Sometimes stress can not be avoided and become to
much to bear. This is when it is important to know what to do. What not to do is to turn to negative
behaviors, medication, or therapy, the right way to go would be through what fits an individual best,
through simple daily changes. Before deciding where to go after the stress work overload has
occurred, there should be an understanding of how jobs truly do affect us. The human mind is difficult
to understand, and how stress affects everyone differently is overwhelming. There are different levels
of stress in certain jobs in our society that should be understood. Jobs can be detrimental to mental
health, when they become too stressful. One of the most known of these would be the military. Mainly
because of the common mental illness called Post Traumatic Stress Disorder,

What Is Okonkwo s Role In Igbo Society
Since the civilization of the African continent the natives were seen as uncivilized and wild. Achebe
throughout Things Fall Apart works to counter these very stereotypes. Set in an Ibo village in Nigeria
during the start of European civilization, the book focuses on the main character Okonkwo and his
prideful life to give insight on the true nature of Ibo culture. Achebe uses the abstract concept of the
patriarchal society and importance of conversation to humanize the Ibo people. Seen in the interaction
between Okonkwo and his wives, this matter illustrates the influential role of the patriarch in Ibo
society. Speaking of his role in society Okonkwo gives the advice that, if [a man] was unable to rule
his women...he was not really a man (Achebe 53). Based off of Okonkwo s advice we know the men
in Ibo society hold the power over their families and if they can not control their family that they are
not really a man. Okonkwo demonstrates the power he holds over his wife and children many times,
often going too far. For instance, during the Week of Peace Okonkwo beats his wife Ojiugo when she
went out to a friend s house without notice. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Achebe explains that, the art of conversation is regarded very highly, (Achebe 7) among the Ibo.
Because the Ibo people care for how their conversations are carried out, one would guess that they are
educated and knowledgeable enough to be able to do so. In some ways one might consider them to be
able to have even more intricate conversations then we do today. When the Europeans arrive in
Umuofia they do not quite understand the Ibo people. The District Commissioner even complains of,
[the Ibo people s] love of superfluous words (Achebe 204). The words that Ibo people use in
conversation is even baffling to the Europeans. This can make one say that in some ways the Ibo

Bandura s Theory Of Observational Learning
The Social Learning theory (modelling) is a set of principles that some psychologists have put into
place to establish how each childs personality grows and develops through their individual
behavioural patterns, that they have aquired through the progress of their lives. It is important that
children not only learn through conditioning, but its just as important that they have equal amounts of
observational learning.
Observational Learning is less stressful to children and does nt take as much effort, all children need
to do is observe. A child will self conciously grow and extend their abilities by observational learning.
Observing fellow peers and adults in their lives will merely encourage a child to mimick and model a

Influence On Western Civilization
Influence of Greece on western civilization
Throughout history, there has been many to hold the title of the greatest and most influential western
civilization. It is believed that Greece more specifically Ancient Greece is the first truly western
civilization and has had a part in the following fields of education. Philosophy being what many
would argue to be the second biggest contribution of Greece. With the first thought coming to my
mind being Aristotle, Socrates, and Archimedes. These philosophers not only contributed to the field
of philosophy; but to science, mathematics, literature, and poetry.
Democracy being possibly the most important influence on all societies. The democracy spoken of is
commonly credited to the fundamental of Athenians Greece by the philosopher Aristotle in 350 B.C.E.

the united states constitution. I mean the democracy of the Athenians. We see more to admire, and less

are all ways in which someone could consider themselves a member. The influence of downtown is
great. Downtown is a major hub for many businesses, governmental offices and organized rallies,
protests, parades and many other oranized events. Some people come here to do their shopping of for
entertainment; thus fulfilling their needs. Downtown Portland is also a major tourist attraction for
surrounding cities in Oregon and Washington. Finally, there is an emotional connection that many
people have to downtown Portland because of everything it has to offer. Since it is a major spot in
Portland, it is a central meeting place for thousands of people every day who go to meet with friends
and family members, therefore creating memories in the area. Conclusions From the evidence
gathered from our group, we have concluded that downtown Portland appeals more to the younger
generation in terms of living there. With the abundance of smaller living quarters, third spaces and
plenty of service jobs than there are white collar careers, most people, after earning a degree and
establishing a career, tend to move outside of the city in order to start their families. However, with the
abundance of green spaces, cultural offerings and tax free shopping, downtown Portland excels in

The Renaissance Of 17th Century Italy Essay
The Renaissance of 14th century Italy is often most revered as a cultural movement based on
humanism, which lead to an increase, in education and social involvement for certain groups of
people. The Renaissance in 15th century England was ultimately influenced by Italy, but had distinct
developments of its own. As one may expect equal benefits for all classes and genders during this
period of rapid change, the status of women did not particularly differ during this time period. Many
would even argue that their presence diminished in comparison to their medieval counterparts. This
essay will argue for the limited opportunities for women in education, politics, and paid labour during
Early Modern Europe in Italy and England, which ultimately barred them from obtaining what many
consider a contemporary understanding of a Renaissance.
Before exploring their restricted status, it is important to understand that most histories of women
were written by men, and their conditions were elevated by misogynistic interpretations of certain
contexts, especially the bible. Although certain authorities were challenged in this time period
(including histories of women written by men), the word of the church continued to retain a strong
voice. Much of the attitudes of male intellectuals during Early Modern Europe came from inherited
traditions from Christianity. In the popular story of Adam and Eve, Eve is often thought to be created
to alleviate the loneliness of Adam, and that she

Plant Competition
INTRODUCTION
This experiment was used to show the different types of competition between species. Competition
was defined as being a relationship between members of the same or different species in which
individuals are adversely affected by those having the same living requirements, such as food or space
(Competition 2010). There are two different types of competition that we will be observing during this
experiment. The first type would be intraspecific, which means competition between same species
(1976). The second type of competition is interspecific, which is defined as competition between
different species (1976). These two types of competition have helped us look at the different types of

radish seeds and exposed to only high light. The third pot was filled with bean seeds but exposed to
low light. The fourth pot was filled with radish seeds and exposed to low light. The fifth and final pot
was filled with bean and radish seeds. After allowing the plants to grow we then measured the length
of the largest leaf on each plant. We then cut the plants and weighed them. To measure the leaves we
used a standard ruler measuring the largest leaf on each stalk. We then cut the plants as close to the
soil as possible and weighed them individually on a scale.

would mean that the radish mixed would be a better competitor the for leaf length. Bean Leaf Length |

great country. Saint Francis University, is addressing this need by providing education to qualified
students to enable them to become future leaders. Saint Francis s addresses this national shortage by
advancing students problem solving skills and clinical knowledge, all the while maintaining a focus on
serving the community. My core values include servant leadership which means in everything I want
to do I want to be serving those around me. I have come to the conclusion, the only way to serve the
community in the fullest capacity is to first become educated on the needs of the community. To gain
understanding of what is required to serve this world, I took time volunteering in a nursing home as
therapy aide and working at podiatrist office. Although these experiences can be limiting, the
information gained in serving people is invaluable. Working with people to meet basic needs has

Why Was Simon Bolivar More Important Than The Liberator
When it comes to the phrase A brilliant soldier but a poor politician I agree to the fullest extent that
Simon Bolivar was indeed this. He was one of the most powerful figures in world political history. He
led the independence movement for six nations; Venezuela, Columbia, Panama, Ecuador, Peru, and
Bolivia. After liberating all of these countries he was soon after nicknamed The Liberator . ◾After
hundreds of years of domination by Spain, Bolívar was instrumental in moving South America closer
to democratic governments. Bolívar successfully waged a number of military campaigns throughout
South America, defeating the Spanish on numerous occasions. But he is also essentially responsible

and at this point he was known as El Liberator. When studying South American independence efforts,

able to weave himself into the independence efforts of many countries, including Venezuela, Ecuador,
Colombia, Peru, and Bolivia. He was able to free these countries through a multitude of ways and had
significant effects on these countries, even to the extent that he is still known as El Libertador today.
In 1810, Venezuela s independence movement declared independence from Spain, and a new
government was created. However, the movement was defeated by Spain, and Bolívar was forced to
flee to Cartagena, Colombia. In 1813, fighting once again broke out between the rebels and the

Noblest Character In Julius Caesar
I think the noblest character is Antony himself. He always supported Cesar even if it did not seem like

everyone there was a supporter of him and Cesar. H was very well with words he managed to turn
supporters of the murders against them and he was very ambitious because he didn t let anyone else in

Disadvantages Of Situational Syllabus
1. INTRODUCTION
A syllabus can be defined as the specification of aims and the selection and grading of content to be
used as a basis for planning foreign language (Newby, 2000, p.590). Therefore, an annual syllabus is
considered to be the document which compiles all the information necessary to carry out the important
task of teaching. There are different kinds of syllabus and in this aspect it would be a mistake not to
mention the pioneering work of Wilkins (1976). This author distinguishes between situational
syllabuses and notional syllabuses. The first one appears in a reaction against grammatical syllabuses
which did not take learners situational needs into account (Wilkins, 1976, p.16). As Wilkins (1976,
p.16) points out, we need the language so that we can use it in the situations that we encounter .
Therefore, situational syllabuses compile a series of learning units with a wide diversity of situations
in which learners learn to use the language. On the contrary, notional syllabuses take the desired
communicative capacity as the starting point (Wilkins, 1976, p.18). According to this scholar, the
advantage of the notional syllabus is that it does not only take into account grammatical and
situational factors but also the communicative ones (Wilkins, 1976, p.19). In this light, Melrose (1991,
p.5) affirms that in a notional syllabus
it is assumed that speakers will need to express three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

guide the process of teaching and learning (Newbuy, 2000,

Language and Identity Are Inextricably Linked. How Is This...
There are many indicators of identity by which we are made known individually, socially and
culturally; the best of these would be language and how it has shown great flexibility in
accommodating the needs of people. Through language people have been able to establish their
identities and cultivate friendships with others who share the same common ground. By looking at
accents such as Broad Australian English, slang and phonological features as they apply to Australian
varieties, we can see how it has forged solidarity and assisted in creating an identity on an individual
and national scale.

minority of Australian population today, it has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Identity is formed through the mutual trends of a group through slang and is used as identification for
users who have these lexical features in common. The shortening of the lexeme whatever to whatevz
or the reduplication and shortening of crazy to cray cray are words that have appealed to young
Australian teenagers. Through use of diminutives, identity can be further formed as they are uniquely
Australian, where lexemes are shortened to a syllable and the suffix of ie, y or o is added like smoko
for smoking, devo for devastated and bottle o for a liquor store. The use of slang like this enhances our
identity and care free nature that helps us understand phrases like I m devo that brekky at Maccas is
done . This way slang builds certain characteristics that are known to Australians in the same way
phonological features have.
A recent phonological development in Australian English displays a difference between younger and
older generations through the High Rising Terminal (HRT) which is a rising intonation contour on
declarative clauses. The intonation pattern is considered a distinctive feature of Australian English and
shows how speakers carry themselves as a person. HRT is used primarily by the younger
demographics in Australia, in particular female speakers and has been criticised often, deeming it as a
marker of insecurity. However as researchers now point out,

The Benefits Of Community Gardening
Another aspect of community gardening, is regarding those who participate in it. Community gardens
can be seen in many cities, with the community coming together to grow produce and relationships
along the way. However, it is becoming a growing trend to start this idea at a younger scale. Many
schools across North America have started implementing a garden into their after school or
extracurricular programs. By introducing gardening to children at a young age allows for them to take
in many of the benefits that come from gardening, and encouraging new ways of engagement.
Gardening provides many hands on activities for children, including designing, planting, and
harvesting the food (Yost, 2009). Many studies have shown that children who take care of a garden, or
live near one, are more likely to show an interest in gardening as they grow up and develop a strong
relationship with gardens and trees (Lohr, 2005).
In California, school gardens have become very popular and are continuously promoting them through
the State s Education Department. An example of one of the schools in the state is Le Conte
Elementary School, which not only has flowers and vegetables, but also livestock, like goats and
chickens. The science curriculum at the school is very inclusive with gardening activities, such as
propagation, transplanting, and composting (Ferris, 2001).
There have been many studies on the effects of school gardens on children. They have shown that

The Prayer Of A Public School
Many people in Southern Missouri believe that we need to have more religion in schools. Keep Christ

buildings. This is an easy rallying cry because most people in rural Southwest Missouri share the same
Christian beliefs. There is a place for these types of soapboxes. That place is called church. Schools
are designed to prepare students for the college and career. Churches are designed to prepare
congregations for the after life. As the law mandates, each organization is separate and each plays a
vital role in the betterment of our communities. In order to address religious celebrations in schools,
one must address how religion should be handled in the day to day educational operation of a public
school. The First Amendment Center provides a great guide and tips on How to Handle Religious
Holidays in Public Schools. The article reminds educators that schools may not promote any religion,
but may teach about religion. As an English teacher one cannot have their class read The Crucible
without educating their students on the Puritan faith. Most freshmen in Missouri read Romeo and
Juliet. To understand the true motivations of the Juliet the reader must have a basic understanding of
Catholicism. The same idea is true in Social Studies. Educators cannot ignore religion, they just
cannot promote it. Students in rural Southwest Missouri have not experienced the

The Basic Level For A Good Programmer
Abstract of the Project: The compilers are the softwares which translates the computer language
(source code) into a language more basic to the machine level. The languages such as C, C++, etc are
some famous compilers. In this project, the main concept was about the understanding of compilers
but the best way to explain was with the help of famous and easy Object Oriented Programming
language C++.
The project gives the vivid and simple view of C++ from the most basic level to the required high
level for a good programmer. The project can be treated as a book on C++ in simple language by the
student for the student. The project later on comprises of topics from the basic level Identifiers and
keywords, Data types, operators and types of operators then to an upper level Operator Overloading,
Polymorphism, Inheritance, Encapsulation, Constructors and Destructors, Inline functions, etc. All the
topics are discussed precisely and in simple language with suitable examples.

Security Threats in an Organization
Security Threats Security threats in an organization take on many forms and flavors. How to deal with
the disparate types and manifestations of security threats varies a lot on the types of risks and
possibilities in play. While many to most organizations have common threats and vulnerabilities, they
also tend to very a lot based on the size, type and location of the firm and its facilities. This is even
true when speaking of risks that are information technology related in nature (Kroneke, 2013).
Response to Risks The best way to respond to risks, regardless of where they come from, is to be
prepared in advance through counter measures, prevention and as much proactivity in general as
possible. This is because acting with foresight and some due diligence will prevent many to most
issues in a lot of firms and situations. A sterling example of this NOT happening is when TJX, the

information and other sensitive information exploited. What is really silly about that whole caper is
that TJX was using WEP wireless encryption and that cypher was cracked long before TJX was caught

Minors And The Medical Decision Making
Minors rights in medical decision making As we grow up, we hear it time and time again... When you
re an adult you can do whatever you want. We heard it when were driving our parents crazy about
wanting to grow up just a little too fast. We are taught that in the eye of the law, we must wait until we
hit our eighteenth birthday to do things like play the lottery, to move out, to vote, or to go to a club.
We must be nineteen to buy cigarettes, 21 to drink alcohol, 25 to rent a car, but when we thing aout it
more deeply and zoom in closer on the criminal justice system we see minors differently. In fact,
According to legal experts the youngest person in modern U.S. history to be charged as an adult with
first degree murder was only 11 yeas old at the time he was sentenced
(http://www.loyno.edu/~wagues/article19.html). That same eleven year old that will not get out of
prison until he is a grown man, if at all, would not be able to consent to non emergency medical care.
A general practitioner in a non emergency situation could not treat him without a parent or guardian
giving the go ahead. . It is important to first identify what rights that minors do have when it comes to
their medical decisions and care. In every state, statutes regarding minor s permission to consent for
medical care depends on the child s status, or on the service that they are seeking. Status in which a
minor under the age of 18 can consent to medical care include cases in which a minor may be

The English System Of Criminal Law In The United States
Introduction and Historical Background
Every society in which we live, from the remote tribe to the most technologically advanced culture has
rules in which by which it operates. Most societies have written rules governing behaviour and a set of
punishment for those who break the rules. These can be referred to as the society s laws.
The law is defined as is defined as the body of rules of conduct created by the government and
enforced by government authority. Without any rules or behaviour, life in a group would be difficult, if
not impossible. In order to master criminal law, there must be an understanding of the context in
which criminal law exists.
The United States has a system of law derived from the English system of Common Law. As the
original English settlers arrived in the new world, they brought with them a well developed system of
justice. This English system of law was common to all persons and all areas in the English empire, so
it came to be referred to as the Common Law. Common Law is founded on the idea that if one set of
facts yields a decision in one case, the same set of facts should yield the decision in the next case. For
example if a judge in Manchester ruled that stealing a goat was a crime, a judge in London should rule
the same way. Under Common law, judges look to similar cases decided before and decide new cases
the same way. This helps make the legal system predictable and stable. Using previous judgements in
related cases to judge an ongoing

the geographic location of their settlement being right on the coast line. They resided close to the Bay

However, there s an inconsistency ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There s a tendency to explain or tell feelings or thoughts versus showing. Remember the audience can
only see what s on the screen and they can only hear the dialogue. Show how Chris is visibly annoyed
(rolls eyes, deep breath). Also later, the idea that Chris ponders his response, should be visual.
Everyone talks about the attack as if it caused great trauma to Chris, but the audience doesn t feel this.
The audience doesn t feel that he was away.
Cut dialogue: Let s see who s behind... Let the visuals (and sounds) convey the tension in the scene
(the library).
Consider a stronger pay off for the idea of the Black Magic Book.
Consider adding a visual reaction on page 53 when Andrea tells Chris that she s pregnant.
In the climax when Ben is the host, consider having Ben/Demon speak. The climax feels like it needs
a bit more between Chris and Ben/Demon. Remember, he has to not only physically outwit him, but
mentally.
The scene with the paramedics can just be visual, versus including dialogue. Then transition to the
hospital where the doctor tells him, he can see his son.
The dialogue with the lawyer sounds a bit contrived/on the nose.

The Good and Bad of Racial Profiling
It has been said that racial profiling has been used more than once as a way to detain suspects that
arouse suspcion according to NAACP. Racial profiling is the suspicion of people based on race,
ethnicity, nationality, religion, or other immutable charateristics rather than evidence based behavior.
Eventhough statistics say otherwise racial profiling should not be used as a reasnoable right to detain
an individual because it is unlawful, discrinmatory, and ineffective.
Even though statistics say otherwise racial profiling is actually a good way to determine if a person is
a suspect or not. Because of hard statistical evedence that shows young black and hispanic men
commiting disproportionate numbers of crime. The crimes mostly ... Show more content on

Many racial profiled victims walk away with minor traffic tickets, too often are unlucky and their
outcome is death. Some law enforcers seem to have the stereotypical idea that all african americans
are ignorant and poor. In relations to that if seen differently then that will arouse suspcion to the law
enforcer because it is so called unheard to see a blcak man with a nice car. Theres even an actual story
where that has happened On Oct 12, 1995, Johnny Grammage , a 31 yr old african american male was
shot and killed after being pulled over while driving the jaguar of his cousins . That is just despicable
an officer is only allowed to use a weapon if his life was in danger or if he had weapon but in this case
neither was true. Racial profiling does not only affect race but it also affects religion. In most recent
research In South Dakota there is a widespread reports of racial profiling led to hearings before the
state legislature, where indians testified about being stopped and searched not only based on race but
religion the constitution does foucs on that too whereas where we a free right to practice and not be
judged. A suspect should not be searched or even stopped because of their race, religion, ethnicity,
nationality, and orgin. They should be detained because of a logical and ethical reason if not then their
only making them another victim of racial profiling. Bringing back up this term again

Reflection Paper On Counselling
The first counseling session was an introductory time for me and Counselor, Janine King to become
acquainted. Janine introduced her techniques and her journey to becoming a counselor. I shared my
counseling journey, my academic goals, and the areas that I wanted to focus on during the ten weeks.
The session ended by creating a road map of the areas in my life that might be explored. In session
two, Janine went over my MMPI results and inquired about my life story. It was interesting to learn
that Janine s MMPI results were similar to mine. Janine encouraged me to view the results with an
open mind and use the new information to propel growth in my life. I spent the rest of the session
sharing my life story, and secrets about my past that had never been shared before. The session closed
with reflection and prayer. The third session I was introduced to an exercise called Safe Place, as well
as The Six R s Script. The Six R s are: recognizing my sin, repenting of the sin, receiving freedom,
realigning with God, and rejoicing in the healing and freedom I received. I walked through the Six R s
Script after I identified sin that still gripped me. The session ended with Safe Place exercise and
prayer. I left with action steps on how to move forward in my new found healing and freedom. The
fourth session was full of struggle and frustration. I went into the session thankful for the victory from
the week before, but as we delved into my past

Disadvantages Of Salt
Salt is very important in life because without it, every human will be left off with tasteless food. This
essay is going to focus on what is salt, where the salt came from, the benefit and disadvantage of salt,
the reason why humans need salt, why is salt important, how much salt a person should take, what
happens if a person take a small and a big amount of salt amount of salt. Lastly it will focus on what
has been the value of salt down through history, the way how people view salt now and in the past and
the reason why the value of salt has changed. Salt is white crystalline substance that consists of
sodium and chlorine (Merriam). Salt has been around for many years now. According to Karen Carr
from the article History of salt, salt comes from northern China, where people seem to have been
harvesting salt from a Salt Lake, Lake Yuncheng, by 6000 BC (Carr). Salt has their benefits and
disadvantages. The benefits of salt are that it put flavors in the food that we eat. Also, it maintain the
proper stomach pH. and it improves sleep qualities (Geertsen, Wodehouse). The disadvantages of salt
are that it could be very bad for people s health because it could lead to high blood pressure (Fleck).
The human body is formed of 11 elements that are necessary to function. The 11 elements are Oxygen,
Carbon, Hydrogen, Nitrogen, Calcium, Phosphorus, Potassium, Sulfur, Sodium, Chlorine, and
Magnesium (Helmenstine). As you could see, humans need salt for their body to

The American Dream And Family Life
Most people assume the American dream is about achieving the nostalgic ideal of 1950s family life
Dad in charge of the household, Mom always looking pretty, and their children happily obedient and
affectionate. The belief that success means living in a suburban home with a nuclear family causes
many Americans to disparage any lifestyle that departs from this false image of family life. In truth,
the suburbs are full of dysfunctional families and overdeveloped housing tracts. Many people in
America cannot afford to buy a home, and most families do not fit the fifties era ideal. Nonetheless,
the media and advertisers continue to promote the delusion of the American dream, and consumers
continue to spend their money in hope of achieving it. However, ... Show more content on

The difference is often jarring, especially when going to a place which tries to imitate what is shoveled
out of the tube. The deliberate sleekness and marketing savvy of stores nowadays guarantees you that
your shopping experience will be full of noise, flash, and every device imaginable to get you to part
with your money. Malls today are carefully designed to disorient the shopper and temporarily trap
them within their walls. This is true of grocery stores, too where companies buy shelf space and
carefully place items where certain categories of people will look. Parents get trapped into buying the
heavily sugared cereal placed at the precise eye level of their young consumer target. Noise is
prevalent, omnipresent, and deliberate. Entertainment stores and places that sell music and movies
probably have stock in hearing aid companies, since they play the awful music they peddle at such
high volumes. And even restaurants, the last bastion of civility, run at earsplitting volume. And if you
are lucky enough to find a quiet, intimate place to eat, someone is sure to bring in a child who is not
old enough to appreciate the food or the atmosphere and make its displeasure loudly

when they occur. Of the three, product delivery has the strongest influence on customers satisfaction
and future purchase intentions. (See About the Research. )
Interaction with the Web site
A retailer s Web site is the primary contact point in an online transaction, where customers can
ascertain a great deal of information about an organization s attention to detail and emphasis on
customer satisfaction. If a Web site is hard to use and visually distracting, customers will often switch
to another retailer that makes the shopping experience easier. Five attributes influence how customers
evaluate the quality of their Web site interactions.
Ease of Use When customers access a retailer s Web site, they often find that no formal instructions
are provided. Instead, online retail settings frequently require customers to learn by doing. This means
that a Web site must be extremely intuitive and easy to use, regardless of how much computer
experience a customer has. In an online setting, customers associate ease of use with freedom from
significant mental effort.3 One of the strengths of online retailing endless shelf space can quickly turn
into a weakness if a Web site is difficult to use. Customers want easy to use search engines that allow
them to find products quickly. For instance, Amazon.com Inc. has a wide variety of products spanning

  • 24. What Is Okonkwo s Role In Igbo Society Since the civilization of the African continent the natives were seen as uncivilized and wild. Achebe throughout Things Fall Apart works to counter these very stereotypes. Set in an Ibo village in Nigeria during the start of European civilization, the book focuses on the main character Okonkwo and his prideful life to give insight on the true nature of Ibo culture. Achebe uses the abstract concept of the patriarchal society and importance of conversation to humanize the Ibo people. Seen in the interaction between Okonkwo and his wives, this matter illustrates the influential role of the patriarch in Ibo society. Speaking of his role in society Okonkwo gives the advice that, if [a man] was unable to rule his women...he was not really a man (Achebe 53). Based off of Okonkwo s advice we know the men in Ibo society hold the power over their families and if they can not control their family that they are not really a man. The Renaissance Of 17th Century Italy Essay The Renaissance of 14th century Italy is often most revered as a cultural movement based on humanism, which lead to an increase, in education and social involvement for certain groups of people. The Renaissance in 15th century England was ultimately influenced by Italy, but had distinct developments of its own. As one may expect equal benefits for all classes and genders during this period of rapid change, the status of women did not particularly differ during this time period. Many would even argue that their presence diminished in comparison to their medieval counterparts. This essay will argue for the limited opportunities for women in education, politics, and paid labour during Early Modern Europe in Italy and England, which ultimately barred them from obtaining what many consider a contemporary understanding of a Renaissance. Before exploring their restricted status, it is important to understand that most histories of women were written by men, and their conditions were elevated by misogynistic interpretations of certain contexts, especially the bible. Although certain authorities were challenged in this time period (including histories of women written by men), the word of the church continued to retain a strong voice. Much of the attitudes of male intellectuals during Early Modern Europe came from inherited traditions from Christianity. INTRODUCTION A syllabus can be defined as the specification of aims and the selection and grading of content to be used as a basis for planning foreign language (Newby, 2000, p.590). Therefore, an annual syllabus is considered to be the document which compiles all the information necessary to carry out the important task of teaching. There are different kinds of syllabus and in this aspect it would be a mistake not to mention the pioneering work of Wilkins (1976). This author distinguishes between situational syllabuses and notional syllabuses. The first one appears in a reaction against grammatical syllabuses which did not take learners situational needs into account (Wilkins, 1976, p.16). As Wilkins (1976, p.16) points out, we need the language so that we can use it in the situations that we encounter . Therefore, situational syllabuses compile a series of learning units with a wide diversity of situations in which learners learn to use the language. On the contrary, notional syllabuses take the desired communicative capacity as the starting point (Wilkins, 1976, p.18). According to this scholar, the advantage of the notional syllabus is that it does not only take into account grammatical and situational factors but also the communicative ones (Wilkins, 1976, p.19). In this light, Melrose (1991, p.5) affirms that in a notional syllabus it is assumed that speakers will need to express three ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The shortening of the lexeme whatever to whatevz or the reduplication and shortening of crazy to cray cray are words that have appealed to young Australian teenagers. Through use of diminutives, identity can be further formed as they are uniquely Australian, where lexemes are shortened to a syllable and the suffix of ie, y or o is added like smoko for smoking, devo for devastated and bottle o for a liquor store. The use of slang like this enhances our identity and care free nature that helps us understand phrases like I m devo that brekky at Maccas is done . Community gardens can be seen in many cities, with the community coming together to grow produce and relationships along the way. Many schools across North America have started implementing a garden into their after school or extracurricular programs. By introducing gardening to children at a young age allows for them to take in many of the benefits that come from gardening, and encouraging new ways of engagement. Many racial profiled victims walk away with minor traffic tickets, too often are unlucky and their outcome is death. Some law enforcers seem to have the stereotypical idea that all african americans are ignorant and poor. In relations to that if seen differently then that will arouse suspcion to the law enforcer because it is so called unheard to see a blcak man with a nice car. Theres even an actual story where that has happened On Oct 12, 1995, Johnny Grammage , a 31 yr old african american male was shot and killed after being pulled over while driving the jaguar of his cousins . That is just despicable an officer is only allowed to use a weapon if his life was in danger or if he had weapon but in this case neither was true. Racial profiling does not only affect race but it also affects religion. In most recent research In South Dakota there is a widespread reports of racial profiling led to hearings before the state legislature, where indians testified about being stopped and searched not only based on race but religion the constitution does foucs on that too whereas where we a free right to practice and not be judged. • 46. Reflection Paper On Counselling The first counseling session was an introductory time for me and Counselor, Janine King to become acquainted. Janine introduced her techniques and her journey to becoming a counselor. I shared my counseling journey, my academic goals, and the areas that I wanted to focus on during the ten weeks. The session ended by creating a road map of the areas in my life that might be explored. In session two, Janine went over my MMPI results and inquired about my life story. It was interesting to learn that Janine s MMPI results were similar to mine. Janine encouraged me to view the results with an open mind and use the new information to propel growth in my life. I spent the rest of the session sharing my life story, and secrets about my past that had never been shared before. The session closed with reflection and prayer. The third session I was introduced to an exercise called Safe Place, as well as The Six R s Script. The Six R s are: recognizing my sin, repenting of the sin, receiving freedom, realigning with God, and rejoicing in the healing and freedom I received. I walked through the Six R s Script after I identified sin that still gripped me. The session ended with Safe Place exercise and prayer. I left with action steps on how to move forward in my new found healing and freedom. The fourth session was full of struggle and frustration. I went into the session thankful for the victory from the week before, but as we delved into my past ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The American Dream And Family Life Most people assume the American dream is about achieving the nostalgic ideal of 1950s family life Dad in charge of the household, Mom always looking pretty, and their children happily obedient and affectionate. The belief that success means living in a suburban home with a nuclear family causes many Americans to disparage any lifestyle that departs from this false image of family life. In truth, the suburbs are full of dysfunctional families and overdeveloped housing tracts. Many people in America cannot afford to buy a home, and most families do not fit the fifties era ideal. Nonetheless, the media and advertisers continue to promote the delusion of the American dream, and consumers continue to spend their money in hope of achieving it. However, ... The deliberate sleekness and marketing savvy of stores nowadays guarantees you that your shopping experience will be full of noise, flash, and every device imaginable to get you to part with your money. Malls today are carefully designed to disorient the shopper and temporarily trap them within their walls. This is true of grocery stores, too where companies buy shelf space and carefully place items where certain categories of people will look. Parents get trapped into buying the heavily sugared cereal placed at the precise eye level of their young consumer target. Noise is prevalent, omnipresent, and deliberate. Entertainment stores and places that sell music and movies probably have stock in hearing aid companies, since they play the awful music they peddle at such high volumes. And even restaurants, the last bastion of civility, run at earsplitting volume. And if you are lucky enough to find a quiet, intimate place to eat, someone is sure to bring in a child who is not old enough to appreciate the food or the atmosphere and make its displeasure loudly ...
