Thin looks more healthy and attractive. Thin looks you more better in clothing that you would want to
wear. In my opinion, being thin is not what it is all cracked up to be. Being thin has many benefits in a
matter of health tissues, but being fat doesn t necessarily mean that the fat person is close to have heart
attack. It all depends on the person. Fat is good, it gives you that insulation that you need during those
long, lonely, cold nights because there s no one to hold you. People are too into thin is in idea, not
seeing that fat can be beautiful. As a person who doesn t belong in the thin category, I strongly believe
that I can be healthier without changing my size dramatically. It s true that there are many health
issues to consider when a person is fat, but it is also true that many thin people have just as many
problems. Many people strive to become thin to look beautiful and can be accepted by our societies,
especially models and dancers. Many of them have eating disorders that definitely does not make
them healthy. There will always be a debate between fat and thin. In my opinion, fat is better. Despite
the possible health problems and risks, fat people too, can be healthy. It s a choice made by the person.
I have never met an angry, up tight fat person in my nearly sixteen years of existence. We re just jolly

The Importance Of Modernism And English Literature
Modernism refers to the radical shift in aesthetic and cultural sensibilities evident in the art and
literature of the early 20th century, approximately between 1890 and 1860. Modernism marks a
distinctive breakthrough from Victorian morality. Modernism stemmed from depression that had
resulted from the tragic outcomes of World War 1. Moreover, modernists made language central to
artistic exploration and focused on the individual and his alienation and confusion. Stream of
consciousness is a postmodernist device that is the written equivalent of the character s thought
process. It is characterized by leaps in thought or the lack of some or all punctuation ( Modernism and
English Literature , 0:50:2:50 4:31:5:31). On the other hand, there is no fixed definition for
Postmodernism, but it is considered a critique of modernism. Postmodernism argues that there is no
absolute truth and that the basic structures on which we have built our whole society are just social
constructs. Furthermore, intertextuality is a postmodernist device that draws upon the concept,
rhetoric, or ideology, from other writings to be merged into the text. In the opinion of Kristeva,
intertextual elements significantly contribute to construct the meaning (UnboringLearning, 2012).
Altogether, Modernist and Postmodernist technique allow us deeper understanding of Prufrock in T.S.
Eliot s poem The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock. Notably, intertextuality helps us understand
Prufrock s lack of courage and

Analysis Of The Book War By Sebastian Junger
There is a very large majority of material written and taken down about the Iraq/Afghan war, and our
libraries hold majority of these works of literature. This is a book review of the book War which is
authored by Sebastian Junger and published by Hatchett Book Group in May of 2010. Sebastian
Junger was an embedded reporter with the 2nd Platoon, Battle Company of the 173rd Airborne
Brigade for Vanity Fair magazine, and was entirely dependent on the U.S. military for food, shelter,
security, and transportation.1
This book is the result of five trips taken to Korengal Valley in eastern Afghanistan that were taken
between June 2007 and June 2008. Junger states that he was never asked directly or indirectly to alter
his reporting in any way or to show the contents of his camera. Junger is an American citizen and has
recollections of the terrorist s attacks that took place on September 11, 2001. With this in mind, it
could be cause for some bias reporting that may be presented and talked about through this book
review.
This memoir was written for the main reason of Junger being interested in Americans in Afghanistan.
He was interested in what it was like to serve in a platoon of combat infantry in the
U.S. Army.2 With this memoir in mind, Junger wanted to reach the American citizens as his audience
to show just what mindset the American soldiers were placed in during their time in Afghanistan.
Junger states that the moral basis of the war didn t seem to interest

Analysis Of The Metamorphosis
Analysis of the Metamorphosis The Metamorphosis can be analyzed in many different ways. One way
that could be looked into is why exactly Gregor is turned into an insect. There are many things that he
could have changed into, like a monkey or a bird for example. But Kafka makes it obvious that Gregor
is a bug although he never says what kind. Bugs can be, more or less, controlled, considered useless,
and gross. To call a person a bug means they can bend easily to another s will and are expendable.
Gregor should have been on the five o clock train but since he misses it he thinks about how the
massagers would have been waiting for the same train and noticed that Gregor wasn t there that he
would have gone to tell someone directly. While he was still trying to get up a few hours later he noted
that someone would be coming soon to check on him and at that moment the doorbell rings to
revealed that the office manager himself has come to Gergor s house. This shows that there are many
people in his office that watch his every move, and can even cause him to be fired just because he
doesn t show up to work one day. The office manager tries to make Gregor feel guilty about staying in
room and making his parents worry about him, all to get Gregor to go to work. But as soon as Gregor
shows himself the office manager backs away and leaves. Telling the whole family right away that he
has lost his job. Although, for the past five years Gregor has been taking care of his family on his

The Identity of Black Women in the Post-Bellum Period...
The Identity of Black Women in the Post Bellum Period 1865 1885
Throughout history, the black woman has always had a multitude of responsibilities thrust upon her
shoulders. This was never truer than for southern black women in the period between 1865 and 1885.
In this span of twenty years, these women were responsible for their children, their husbands,
supporting their families, their fight for freedom as black citizens and as women, their sexual freedom,
and various other issues that impacted their lives. All of these aspects of the black woman s life
defined who she was. Each of her experiences and battles shaped the life that she lived, and the way
she was perceived by the outside world.
Who were these women, and how did the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the first things that the black woman attempted, after gaining her freedom, was to obtain a job.
These women learned quickly, however, that they would not be equals just because they were now
free. The job opportunities available to black women, like many other aspects of their lives, would be
of much less quality than the jobs offered to the rest of the population. They would be low paying,
involve extended hours, and would put them in constant danger; black women would have to negotiate
the literal rough terrain of Atlanta and the social consequences it imposed on their everyday lives as
they struggled to earn a living for their families and searched for peace of mind. They would have to
persevere in their quest to work and support their household.
After the Civil War, all black citizens of the Unites States were allegedly free. The thirteenth
amendment banning slavery had been passed and the reconstruction of the South was moving along
swiftly. This promised freedom, however, was far from what was expected. There were many laws and
forces at work to keep blacks in some type of involuntary servitude. Some of the laws that limited
black freedom included making it a crime to hire away a worker who had been under contract with a
different employer (so called enticement laws), various contract enforcement statutes that bound the
black worker to their employer, and vagrancy statutes in which unemployed

Right Triangle Research Paper
There are six trigonometric ratios that one must know in order to find any angle in a right triangle.
There are various of ways to remember these trigonometric ratios, but the most common way is
through SOHCAOTOA. By having this clear in your memory, it will allow one to remember at least
the three basic trigonometric ratios: Sine (sin.), Cosine (cos.), and Tangent (tan.). Before one learns
about how SOHCAOTOA is split up, we must learn about the angles in a right triangle. First off, the
hypotenuse is the longest line in a triangle, then in order to find the adjacent and opposite, one must
locate where the angle. Upon locating the angle, we can conclude that the opposite is further away
from the angle, whereas the adjacent is the closer one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In short, these three trig. ratios are the reciprocal of sine (sin.), cosine (cos.), and tangent (tan.).
Although many may assume that cosecant is the reciprocal of cosine, it is actually that of sine, which
means that cosecant is hypotenuse over opposite. Thereafter, that leaves us with secant, which is in
fact the reciprocal of cosine, demonstrating that it is hypotenuse over adjacent. Nonetheless, cotangent
is the last trig. ratio, meaning that it is the reciprocal of tangent, being rather adjacent over opposite.
Now, we know the formulas for these trigonometric functions being: Csc=HypotenuseOpposite,
Sec=HypotenuseAdjacent, and Cot=AdjacentOpposite . For example, the triangle on the next page is a
7 24 25 right triangle, and we must determine the six trigonometric ratios for angle C of the right
triangle. Based off this information, we can determine that the adjacent is 7, with the opposite being
24 and hypotenuse as 25. In order to find the sine of angle C, we must write out Sin C
=OppositeHypotenuse and plug in the numbers to equal Sin C=2425. Next, in order to find the cosine
of angle C, by writing out Cos C=AdjacentHypotenuse and plugging in the adjacent and hypotenuse
number to equal Cos C=725. After solving for the sine and cosine of the right triangle, we must find
the tangent being Tan C=OppositeAdjacent.

A Perfect Day For Bananafish Literary Analysis
Typically, the ending of a book can be quite predicable since authors tend to be very straight forward
onto exactly is what is going on in the characters minds. On the other hand, author J.D. Salinger
decides to end his short story, A Perfect Day for Bananafish, in a shockingly and unexpected manner.
The main character, Seymour Glass, and his wife Muriel, are vacationing at a resort in Florida. In the
end of the story Seymour chooses to end his life. Although, his choice to commit suicide appears to be
a mystery his comments, behavior, and interactions towards others throughout the story present
enough evidence that Seymour was mentally unstable. Seymour s mental state leads him to believe
suicide was his last option. Seymours pychological ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This happens immediately after he is in the elevator with a random woman and defensively remarks to
her, I see you re looking at my feet (9). The woman denies Seymour s accusation and asked the car
operator to let her out. Feet symbolize basic humanity; Seymour feels unaccepted by humanity since
the woman denied staring. This leads Seymour to feel alienated by society. This incident makes it
clear that Seymour is mentally unstable, and that his following actions are only happening because of
his distressed and disturbed state of mind. Once Seymour gets out of the elevator, he enters his room
and went over and sat down on the unoccupied twin bed, looked at the girl, aimed the pistol, and fired
a bullet through his right temple (9). After reading the disheartening description of Seymour s suicide,
the fact that he carried a pistol in his luggage shows death roamed his mind, he planned this action and
feels no regret. His crime against himself shows how helpless and ill he is. Seymour is no longer the
man he once may have been, his disconnection with society affected his mental state to the point it
eventually killed

Jean Stewart Bridges Not Walls
In Bridges not walls, Stewart (2012) talks about the communication walls that hurts our perception of
people. Stewart goes on to list and describe what they are; deception, betrayal and aggression.
Deception is lying (p.329) and it is a form of betrayal that hurts our trust, respect and communication
while in relationship with others. Betrayal is when you have high expectations of a person and they let
you down, disappointing you concerning the expectation that you have set for them. Aggression is
when you abuse a persons self concept (p.329), emotionally, socially, mentally, physically, and
psychologically (Stewart, 2012). According to Burley Allen (1995), in Listening: The Forgotten Skill,
talks about the effectiveness of communications. The theory that our minds perceive depends on how
well we listen with our heart, mind and soul when we communicate with others (p.169). According to
Burley Allen (1995), our filter system determines how we perceive others when we first meet or see
someone, its call sizing up (p.170). According to Burley Allen (1995), there are two types of resistance
approach but only one helps to avoid many misunderstandings. The I Rational approach help draw and

Essay on Small Business
Small Business 2
In accessing the Equal Employment Opportunity Office (EEOC) website, I found it very hard to find a
clear and concise reason as to why small businesses were treated differently than the larger businesses
and why the law would differentiate between them. These smaller organizations are sometimes treated
differently by the EEOC because they lack the resources that most large companies possess. Most
small businesses can t afford to hire the best qualified people that larger businesses can and do. They
may not be able to hire people that fit into the different classes (EEOC, 2008). For example, they may
want to hire someone with a disabili ty but really can t afford to because they would have to make ...

Civil Rights of 1964. This law makes it illegal to discriminate against any person based on race, color,
religion, national origin, or sex. This law also makes it unlawful to retaliate against a person because
the person complained about discrimination or filed a charged of discrimination (Laws Enforced by
EEOC).
Equal Pay Act of 1963 law is equally important to small businesses. This law makes it unlawful to pay
different salaries to men and women when they both are performing the exact same job. The Equal
Pay Act does not exclude all disparities in wage rates paid men and women but only those disparities
based only on gender (Twomey, D, and Jennings, M.M., 2011, p. 848).
Age Discrimination in Employment Act of 1967, this law also enforced by the EEOC is intended to
protect individuals who are 40 years or older from discrimination because of age. It covers all private
employers with 20 or more employees (small business) (Anderson, R.A., Fox,

what Cloud Computing means because AWS is one type of a Cloud . Cloud, in a world of technology,
means providing resources such as servers, applications, storage, and etc. to businesses or individuals
to eliminate the need of equipment to be set up, managed, or maintained on the premises of the users.
There are three different types of Cloud Computing:
IaaS: which stands for Infrastructure as a Service . This is a basic model of a cloud, and it provides all
the necessary hardware resources to an organization or a personal user. Providers of this type offer
physical machines or virtual machines. This type of cloud includes servers, storage, networks, and
operating systems. Most popular IaaS providers are: Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google
Compute Engine
PaaS: which stands for Platform as a Service . This type of cloud computing mostly used by
programmers, application developers, or the companies who are in this type of business. PaaS
provides set of tools and services to help developers code and run their programs without buying the
expensive hardware and software layers. Most popular providers are: Google App Engine, Amazon

Property Valuation Essay
In the case of the awareness creation, 63 respondents, which means majority of the households

valuation in expropriation. According to Tony O Sullivan (2003), Housing, which is one of the major
types of real property, is an inherently complex commodity with spatial fixity for which many aspects
must be taken in to consideration in its valuation and expropriation process. The writer of this study
concluded that people who were expropriated had no chance to discuss the economic, social, and
cultural aspects in the process of expropriation depending on the above majority response in table(3).

It is known that when there is no consideration of property type, on the other hand, there is no
selection of valuation method. Because, selection of valuation method and identification of property
type mostly go together. Description of the property which is the subject of a valuation report is one of
the scientific procedures of valuation (http://www.iacenig.org/CEthics.html). This is realized from the
fact that for the selection of valuation method, the available data and the type of property (commercial
or residential) plays important role.
IA CE (2008) says that, The procedure and method for deciding a given value in question is a matter
for the valuer himself to determine. Nevertheless, better valuation practice needs that the method
selected be right for the purpose, hold consideration of all the factors that have a bearing on the value,
and are presented in a clear and logical way .
There are three major types of property valuation methods and selection of the appropriate method
according to the condition of the property is the most important precondition to reach at the most
accurate value of the property. Regarding this condition, 4(80%) of the expert respondents reacted as
there was no consideration of the alternative method in Gimbi town during expropriation. From this
response, the researcher approved that there was no concept of valuation methods. Here, what should

Acids And Bases Lab Report
Acids and bases are very important. We clean with them, we eat them, and we use them to help in
chemistry. The ions who are the cause of acidic properties is H+ ions, or protons, and for basic
properties, it s the OH ions, or hydroxide ions. all of that is based on a theory called the dissociation of
water (which is H2O H+ + OH ). So the more H+ there is in a solution, the more acidic the solution is,
and the less H+ there is, the more basic it is. That is why there is H+ in solution factors on the pH
scale. The more protons present at one time means the pH scale decreases, and the H+ present goes
down. The pH scales job is to measure the acid and base levels of a substance and how strong they are.
The numbers on the scale go from 1 to 14, with 1 containing the most hydrogen ions and 14 having
the least. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some very well known properties of acids are that they taste sour, have a pH of less than 7, neutralize
base by producing salt and water, acids are electrolytes, and they are proton donors. Some common
base properties are that they taste bitter, have a pH bigger that 7, neutralize acids by producing salt and
water, bases are electrolytes, and they are the proton receptors in the equation. Three theories outline
the definition of an acid or a base are the Arehenius theory of acids and bases, the Bronsted Lowry

Antony And Cleopatra Comparison Analysis
In Antony and Cleopatra, Shakespeare shifts from praising Antony as a great warrior to condemning
him by depicting the gradual decline of his honor and image in order to show his inner battle between
reason and emotion. This is an apparent theme in both the book and the play, though there might be
some small differences, both shows how this inner battle defeats him and leaves Cleopatra with most
of the power. One thing that I noticed is that Cleopatra seemed far more regal in the book than in the
play. For example, in the book when Antony wants Scarus to kiss her favoring hand (205), he makes it
sound like a big honor that he is able to do this. In addition, the way he describes her makes me
imagine that it is a regal and important moment. In the play, however she does a little dance after he
kisses her hand, which to me seemed like she was acting inappropriately and taking away the
importance of the moment. It is almost as if she was undermining what the warrior had done. She
made what should have been a serious and honorable moment and turned it into a joke. Even though
Antony loves Cleopatra his rational side takes over when he decides to marry Octavia in order to show
his loyalty to Rome. He knows that his duty is to Rome and it is where he is supposed to be and the
people of Rome are not happy about all of the time he has been spending in Egypt. To fix this and
mend their bond Antony agrees to marry Caesar s sister Octavia. This mend is shown when Caesar
says that the

or prevent changes in public policy without trying to be elected. The essay will discuss the four kinds
of interest groups, trade, professional, single and public, as well as provide one detailed example of

The Texas AFT wants to influence the legislator because the school districts have been left to try to
make up for inadequate state aid by raising local tax rates, even as the state has continued to make it
much harder for them to accomplish this. Basically, all they want to do is handle the budget crisis in
the school districts of Texas. To analyze the successes and failures of Texas AFT in influencing
legislation is short and sweet; school systems are still under budgeted and local taxes are still being
raised to help the schools. The only break educators have received was in 2006 with surplus dollars
tax swap for which the bill is now belatedly coming due. The third interest group of topic is a single
interest group called Mothers Against Drunk Driving, also known as MADD. A single interest group is
a group of persons working on behalf of or strongly supporting a particular cause, such as an item of
legislation, an industry, or a special segment of society. (Answer.com) Mothers against Drunk Driving

Paul´s Death in All Quiet on the Western Front by Erich...
World War I caused devastation for millions of people around the globe and was one of the most
brutal wars ever in history. All Quiet on the Western Front, an account of the atrocity of World War I
by Erich Maria Remarque, shows the trials and tribulations faced by soldiers each and every day.
Much like it is today, war was glorified, and many young men, including the naïve 19
year old German
Paul Bauman, around the globe enlisted in the army, only to find out what a dreadful mistake it was
later on. After seeing the mindless killings of millions, it makes the human race question whether war
is really the logical way to solve the problems that plague the war today. What did the killing of over a

In the early parts of the 20th century, scientists had developed weapons that were more devastating
and had greater range, which makes Paul and the rest of his compatriots doomed. In general, as
weapons have become more and more destructive there has been an increase in both human violence
and the number of deaths around the world due to wars. In World War I, the sudden increase in the
power of weapons led to a huge loss of human life. There is a scene where Paul looks across the
battlefield after yet another brutal battle, and he notices that everybody [they] see their is dead
(11.209). Never before had weapons been able to wipe out entire sections of an army. Diseases like
dysentery, influenza, [and] typhus were also massive killers in the first world war (11.209). The
presence of such deadly diseases combined with the soldiers living in close proximity and highly inept
doctors was a fatal combination. It is only until recently that scientists have managed to come up with
a technique to cope with diseases like typhoid fever. Whether it is a bullet or dysentery, soldiers hardly
stood a chance of managing to get through the entire war alive.
The mental challenges also made it very difficult for the soldiers to try and get past the war. The
brutality of the war would often cause soldiers to disconnect with the people around them, since those
people would not be able to fathom the horrifying things that they had seen on the

Hitler s Single Party Dictatorship
Adolf Hitler s Single Party Dictatorship (Nazi Germany 1933 1945) Factors Leading to Hitler s
Consolidation to Power Adolf Hitler s rise to power in 1933 can be attributed to a series of
developments following Germany s defeat in World War I in 1918. Harsh terms imposed by the Treaty
of Versailles turned public opinions against the newly established Weimar Republic throughout the
1920s. The Weimar Republic, the democratic government established after Kaiser Wilhelm s
abdication of the throne, faced major public criticism and political instability. The German public
blamed the Weimer government for Germany s humiliation imposed by the Treaty of Versailles. Under

Assignment Chapter 6
Concept Explorations
6.29. Thermal Interactions
Part 1:
In an insulated container, you mix 200. g of water at 80ºC with 100. g of water at 20ºC. After mixing,
the temperature of the water is 60ºC. * a. How much did the temperature of the hot water change?
How much did the temperature of the cold water change? Compare the magnitudes (positive values)
of these changes.
200g of water at 80°C = hot water
100g of water at 20˚C = cold water
After mixing the temperature is 60˚C (equilibrium T)
Answer:
The temperature of hot water changed:
60˚C 80˚C = 20˚C
The temperature of cold water changed:
60˚C 20˚C = 40˚C
The temperature change hot water to cold water is 20:40.

q = ms∆T q = ? * 4.18J/g˚C * 40˚C
Mass of sample is not given, so we cannot calculate the heat added to the water sample.
Therefore the mass of the sample is needed to perform this calculation.
Part 3:
Two samples of water are heated from 20ºC to 60ºC. One of the samples requires twice as much heat
to bring about this temperature change as the other. How do the masses of the two water samples
compare? Explain your reasoning.
Answer:
Given;
Temperature change (∆T) = 60 20 = 40˚C
The first sample requires heat q1 = qJ (say) .......1
Then the second sample required heat q2 = 2q1J = 2q J .......2
Mass of first sample = m1g
Mass of second sample = m2g
Specific of water (s) = 4.18J/g˚C
By the equation: q = ms∆T q1 = m1 * 4.18J/g˚C * 40˚C for first sample q2 = m2 * 4.18J/g˚C * 40˚C
for the second sample
Putting the value of q from equations (1) and (2)
2 * m1 * 4.18J/g˚C * 40˚C = m2 * 4.18J/g˚C we get:
2m1 = m2 m1 = ½ m2
Thus the mass of the first sample is one half the mass of the second sample.
6.30. Enthalpy * a. A 100. g sample of water is placed in an insulated container and allowed to come
to room temperature at 21ºC. To heat the water sample to 41ºC, how much heat must you add to it?
Answer:
100g water
Initial T = 21˚C
Final T = 41˚C
∆H = ?
From the equation: q = s * m * ∆T
∆T = tf ti = 41˚C 21˚C = +20˚C
Therefore, q = 4.18J/g˚C * 100g * (+20˚C) = 8.36 kJ
* b. Consider the hypothetical

My Ferrari Essay
It was half past seven in the morning and I had a busy day ahead of me. I got into my Ferrari 360

The imprint that agriculture makes on the cultural landscape is as you look from the West Coast of the
United States to the East Coast you would see green circles standing out in arid regions of the country
are places where center pivot irrigation systems circle around a pivot, providing irrigation to a circle
of crops. Then you can also see a checkerboard pattern on the landscape that reflects the pattern of
land ownership in much of the country. Three main Cadastral systems, the method of land survey
through which land ownership and property lines are defined, include township and range system,
metes and bounds and the longlot survey system. Township and range system divides land into a series
of rectangular parcels. The land was bought and sold in a gridlike pattern on the land in whole, half, or
quarter sections. Metes and bounds survey system uses natural features are used to demarcate irregular
parcels of lands. Long lot survey system divides land into narrow parcels stretching back from rivers,
roads, or canals.
4. Discuss the overall changes in agriculture from family farming to commercial agriculture. Be sure
to explain the environmental impacts of commercial agriculture.
Commercial and family farming are two different concepts of farming. Family farms are organic and
healthy yet it is expensive since not much is made in family farms. Commercial farming is the
opposite. Commercial farms use additive, preservatives and also lack sanitation.

Protein Based Bioflocculants, Tizazu Mekonnen
Protein based bioflocculants, Tizazu Mekonnen
1. Mechanismof flocculation
Colloidal particles in wastewater suspension normally carry an overall negative charge on their
surface that led to electrostatic repulsion. This electrostatic repulsionresult is the stabilization of the
suspension as it prohibits the particles to come together and form agglomerate. Flocculants are thus
added to change the surface property of such particles and destabilize the suspension so as to facilitate
the separation of the solids (Tripathy and Ranjan De 2006). Protein based flocculantsdevelopment for
wastewater treatment is mainly built on theirpolyampholite nature associated with the functional
groups of the composing amino acids. Most studies in the literature base their protein flocculation
mechanisms(Seki et al. 2010, Piazza and Garcia 2013) on theories developed for synthetic polymeric
flocculants, such as polyacrylamide. Flocculation mechanisms that could be relevant for protein based
flocculants include: (1) Coagulation, (2) Electrostatic patch flocculation and (3) Polymer
bridging(Gregory 1973, Sharma et al. 2006, Hjorth and Jorgensen 2012).
Coagulation is the process in which colloidal particles and other fine suspensions are destabilized or
neutralized to agglomerate induced by addition of inorganic chemicals(Tripathy and Ranjan De 2006).
Electrostatic patch mechanism is adsorption of polymers onto local sites of a particle, causing patches
of local charge reversal resulting in

The gay community is discriminated against and has to overcome stereotypes in the media, as seen in

Before the 1960 s gay men weren t shown in films, plays, shows, etc. but the very first time a

One of the goals is to increase the prevention behaviors in persons at high risk for diabetes with pre

physical activity levels, decreasing the fat and calories in the patient s diet, and trying to increase the
proportion of patient s trying to lose weight. ( Healthy people 2020, n.d. , Diabetes D 16) As the nurse
considers interventions and goals, there are many factors to consider. The patient s education level,
access to care, family support, spiritual support, and willingness to accept the diagnosis will greatly
affect the outcome. Increasing the prevention behaviors for those at risk for diabetes affects society as
a whole and individually when looking at the client system. Nurses can help the patient to identify
stressors that may impact their ability to meet the goals. The primary prevention as intervention

The Hero s Journey By Joseph Campbell
THESIS
The main points of the hero s journey by Joseph Campbell is the basis of most stories throughout
history, Divergent and The Epic of Gilgamesh being prime examples.
PURPOSE
These stories follow the format of the hero s journey because it shadows the steps that Campbell
explained. In his study of world hero myths Campbell discovered that they are all basically the same
story retold endlessly in infinite variations (Vogler). Campbell s idea of this journey that all heroes
complete is present in the duration of most stories that have been told throughout history and in
modern day works today.
INTRODUCTION
Throughout these stories the steps of the Hero s Journey are found to move the story along. Beatrice
and Gilgamesh were both called to fulfill their destiny becoming the heroes of their own stories,
fighting for what they thought was right, and bringing their society into a position of security. Society
today is using this method with or without trying making this route able to touch the author in a more
personal way, his archetypal development of characters and the exposition of a portion of his own
personal Hero s Journey illustrated through the protagonist s Hero s Journey. (Dingman). The author
can bring his own our eyes into the story not realizing that they re lives are also journeys that they
have yet to discover.
Joseph Campbell s hero s journey consists of three major parts: the Departure, Initiation, and Return.

being in existence; however, he probably would state that the class of the
person would determine how much status and power a person would have.
Weber agreed with Marx in the fact that in a capitalistic society, class had
the biggest influence on a person s position and that status and power were
given more to the higher classes. Weber said, however, that there were
other societies in which this was not true, such as in the Estates System of
Medieval Europe and the Caste System of India. In the Estates System,
power was the most important factor of social rank, followed by class and
status. The best

In the article published by the Detroit Free Press How do you get rid 750 trillion mussels in the Great
Lakes written by Kathleen Lavey, the author discusses how there is currently no technology that
would help on a large enough scale to kill all of the invasive mussels. Lavey talks about how there are
paints that contain chili peppers which muscles don t atach to. Companies use this paint on intake
pipes so they do not get clogged with muscles. Lavey also discusses 060Bio which a piece of foam

way boats don t get infested with muscles and move them around the lakes. There are many different
ideas out there but they don t have a method that

Effective Training Program Essay
Exercise is done by majority of people in order to improve one s health and fitness. Everyone is able
to improve their own health and fitness by exercising in order to achieve proficient physical abilities.
Not only can an individual perform and commit to particular activities for personal health, but also
purposes such as sport performance, body size, strength and conditioning, etc; all of which can be
achieved from specific exercises performed consistently with the appropriate nutrition and rest in
place. Athletes typically do exercise in order to become proficient at their own fitness and specified
skills of their sport. Thus if all individuals perform exercise, we can refer even those that do not
compete at sports as being athletes in respective of their fitness and becoming proficient at it; the
difference being individuals training for only their personal well being. The most important aspect

Thus, a training program must be utilized to help adapt the body to perform specific tasks at a certain
level. An effective training program is essential in order to maximize results over time, and programs
can be adjusted to the goals of the individual. There are 4 major programs that can be viewed:
periodization, interval training, fartlek training, and calisthenics; widely used systems of exercise
training. This report will examine the structure of each program, and their major benefits and
drawbacks.
The first training program is called periodization. This program divides the training process into
specific phases or mesocycles, over a certain amount of time, focusing the manipulation of training
variables such as loads, sets, and repetitions, in order to maximize training adaptations. Selye s
General Adaptation Syndrome was the classic understanding of periodization, stating that systems will

Design A Year 1 Mathematics Learning Experience
Professional Plan
Measurement and Geometry
The purpose of this assignment is to design a Year 1 mathematics learning experience which integrates
some aspects of Measurement and geometry. This assignment will use the Australian Curriculum
Assessment and Reporting Curriculum (ACARA) where mathematic curricula integrate location and
transportation with technology engaging students in a multi modal dynamic learning experience
Mulligan (2015).The requirements of Grade 1 Measurements and Geometry states the following units
should be addressed. This proposal will consist of Direct Instructions relating to directions, the use
and understanding of mathematical location, and terminology. Children will develop problem solving
and investigation skills through scaffolding to navigate different ways to a pre planned location.
In Year 1 for Measurements and Geometry/ Location and Transport, students should be able to Give
and follow directions to familiar locations (ACARA, 2016). According to the curriculum, the students
should also understand the importance of directional words and their meanings, such as forward,
backward, under, right turn and also left turn. Additionally, students should understand the reason why
people give and follow directions from one place to another. Following directions can also include
turns, as well as distances. One example would be directing a person to the nearest school location.
Without prior knowledge or a set of directions, there is

This essay has 2462 words
Behaviourists explain maladaptive behaviour in terms of the learning principles that sustain and
maintain it. Discuss this statement and show how a behaviourists approach to therapy is in stark
contrast to a psychoanalytic one
Behaviorism was originally founded by John B. Watson who believed that behavior had the means to
be measured, trained and changed (1913) The Behavioural theory is firstly based on experiment and
secondly by describing how human behaviour is learnt through principles and rules. Maladaptive
behaviour is when an individual is unable to adjust to situations; psychologists use this term to
describe patterns of emotional disturbance. Both behavioural and psychoanalytic psychologists use

The salivation was now the conditioned response. The dog learnt the association between the food and
the bell and the conditioned response was now the learnt behaviour. Pavlov (1927)Watson and Rayner
(1920) extends Pavlov s study as they wanted to see if it applied to humans as well as animals, they
done this with their little albert experiment. Albert was a nine month old infant, he was tested on his
reactions to various stimuli, he was shown a white rat, and a rabbit, a monkey and various masks, and
he showed no fear to any of these stimuli. They noticed that if a hammer was struck against at steel
bar behind his head he would be startled and he would burst into tears. The noise was the
unconditioned stimuli and Albert crying was the unconditioned response. When Albert was 11 months
old the white rat was presented and seconds later the hammer was struck against the steel bar. This
was done repeatedly over the next 7 weeks, making Albert burst into tears. The white rat was the
neutral stimuli, when paired with the noise it became the conditioned stimuli. When Albert saw the rat
he would show fear and cry. Albert learnt the association between the rat and the noise creating a
phobia. Watson and Rayner (1920)
Systematic desensitisation is a technique associated with classical conditioning; this can be used to
remove maladaptive behaviours like anxiety, panic and fear by substituting the unconditioned
response for a conditioned one. If

Artifice Analysis
The most essential skill in political theater and a consumer culture is artifice, said by Chris Hedges.
Do we usually get lied to? Or are we really hearing the truth? In most cases, Politicians do lie, but that
doesn t mean that they all do. If a Politician does lie, they usually get caught up in the act. Or in other
words they get caught in a scandal.Artifice is a problem because it s a kind of way of tricking people.
Such as involving lies, or white lies, which is the truth, but not the whole truth. It is important because
we, the people, deserve the right of the truth. No one likes to be played around by lying. People may
think artifice is not an essential skill, but it is because without it we wouldn t listen to any other person
s opinion for a right. Or in other words, some people don t know what they want, and they would
rather listen to another ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is the skill of artifice that helps them. They use a personal narrative. Yet sometimes their narrative is
irrelevant from their actual life. The quality of lying, but yet make it seem like it is true, helps out on
what a person wants. Such as a political speaker. Political leaders, who use the tools of mas
propaganda to create a sense of aux intimacy with citizens, no longer need to be competent, sincere, or
honest, which basically means that political speakers, or any kind of speaker, need certain skills to be
able to get other people s attention. Without these skills, perhaps we wouldn t have the rights we have
now, or other things. A way that a politician can use artifice is saying or promising something to their
people, preferably their followers, then not completing what ever they said they would do. Suddenly
the followers either get upset, and want to have a protest or forget about it. This all matters because
many politicians can use artifice in many different ways. It s all up to the person on what they want to
say. Also how they want to express

Fat is good, it gives you that insulation that you need during those long, lonely, cold nights because there s no one to hold you. Many people strive to become thin to look beautiful and can be accepted by our societies, especially models and dancers. Many of them have eating disorders that definitely does not make them healthy. There will always be a debate between fat and thin. In my opinion, fat is better. Despite the possible health problems and risks, fat people too, can be healthy. It s a choice made by the person. • 3. The Importance Of Modernism And English Literature Modernism refers to the radical shift in aesthetic and cultural sensibilities evident in the art and literature of the early 20th century, approximately between 1890 and 1860. Modernism marks a distinctive breakthrough from Victorian morality. Modernism stemmed from depression that had resulted from the tragic outcomes of World War 1. Moreover, modernists made language central to artistic exploration and focused on the individual and his alienation and confusion. Stream of consciousness is a postmodernist device that is the written equivalent of the character s thought process. It is characterized by leaps in thought or the lack of some or all punctuation ( Modernism and English Literature , 0:50:2:50 4:31:5:31). On the other hand, there is no fixed definition for Postmodernism, but it is considered a critique of modernism. Postmodernism argues that there is no absolute truth and that the basic structures on which we have built our whole society are just social constructs. Furthermore, intertextuality is a postmodernist device that draws upon the concept, rhetoric, or ideology, from other writings to be merged into the text. In the opinion of Kristeva, intertextual elements significantly contribute to construct the meaning (UnboringLearning, 2012). Altogether, Modernist and Postmodernist technique allow us deeper understanding of Prufrock in T.S. Eliot s poem The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock. Notably, intertextuality helps us understand Prufrock s lack of courage and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of The Book War By Sebastian Junger There is a very large majority of material written and taken down about the Iraq/Afghan war, and our libraries hold majority of these works of literature. This is a book review of the book War which is authored by Sebastian Junger and published by Hatchett Book Group in May of 2010. Sebastian Junger was an embedded reporter with the 2nd Platoon, Battle Company of the 173rd Airborne Brigade for Vanity Fair magazine, and was entirely dependent on the U.S. military for food, shelter, security, and transportation.1 This book is the result of five trips taken to Korengal Valley in eastern Afghanistan that were taken between June 2007 and June 2008. Junger states that he was never asked directly or indirectly to alter his reporting in any way or to show the contents of his camera. Junger is an American citizen and has recollections of the terrorist s attacks that took place on September 11, 2001. With this in mind, it could be cause for some bias reporting that may be presented and talked about through this book review. This memoir was written for the main reason of Junger being interested in Americans in Afghanistan. He was interested in what it was like to serve in a platoon of combat infantry in the U.S. Army.2 With this memoir in mind, Junger wanted to reach the American citizens as his audience to show just what mindset the American soldiers were placed in during their time in Afghanistan. Junger states that the moral basis of the war didn t seem to interest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

One way that could be looked into is why exactly Gregor is turned into an insect. There are many things that he could have changed into, like a monkey or a bird for example. But Kafka makes it obvious that Gregor is a bug although he never says what kind. Bugs can be, more or less, controlled, considered useless, and gross. To call a person a bug means they can bend easily to another s will and are expendable. Gregor should have been on the five o clock train but since he misses it he thinks about how the massagers would have been waiting for the same train and noticed that Gregor wasn t there that he would have gone to tell someone directly. While he was still trying to get up a few hours later he noted that someone would be coming soon to check on him and at that moment the doorbell rings to revealed that the office manager himself has come to Gergor s house. This shows that there are many people in his office that watch his every move, and can even cause him to be fired just because he doesn t show up to work one day. The office manager tries to make Gregor feel guilty about staying in room and making his parents worry about him, all to get Gregor to go to work. In this span of twenty years, these women were responsible for their children, their husbands, supporting their families, their fight for freedom as black citizens and as women, their sexual freedom, and various other issues that impacted their lives. These women learned quickly, however, that they would not be equals just because they were now free. The job opportunities available to black women, like many other aspects of their lives, would be of much less quality than the jobs offered to the rest of the population. They would be low paying, involve extended hours, and would put them in constant danger; black women would have to negotiate the literal rough terrain of Atlanta and the social consequences it imposed on their everyday lives as they struggled to earn a living for their families and searched for peace of mind. They would have to persevere in their quest to work and support their household. After the Civil War, all black citizens of the Unites States were allegedly free. The thirteenth amendment banning slavery had been passed and the reconstruction of the South was moving along swiftly. This promised freedom, however, was far from what was expected. There were many laws and forces at work to keep blacks in some type of involuntary servitude. Some of the laws that limited black freedom included making it a crime to hire away a worker who had been under contract with a different employer (so called enticement laws), various contract enforcement statutes that bound the black worker to their employer, and vagrancy statutes in which unemployed ... By having this clear in your memory, it will allow one to remember at least the three basic trigonometric ratios: Sine (sin.), Cosine (cos.), and Tangent (tan.). Before one learns about how SOHCAOTOA is split up, we must learn about the angles in a right triangle. First off, the hypotenuse is the longest line in a triangle, then in order to find the adjacent and opposite, one must locate where the angle. Upon locating the angle, we can conclude that the opposite is further away from the angle, whereas the adjacent is the closer one ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In short, these three trig. ratios are the reciprocal of sine (sin.), cosine (cos.), and tangent (tan.). Although many may assume that cosecant is the reciprocal of cosine, it is actually that of sine, which means that cosecant is hypotenuse over opposite. Thereafter, that leaves us with secant, which is in fact the reciprocal of cosine, demonstrating that it is hypotenuse over adjacent. Nonetheless, cotangent is the last trig. ratio, meaning that it is the reciprocal of tangent, being rather adjacent over opposite. Now, we know the formulas for these trigonometric functions being: Csc=HypotenuseOpposite, Sec=HypotenuseAdjacent, and Cot=AdjacentOpposite . For example, the triangle on the next page is a 7 24 25 right triangle, and we must determine the six trigonometric ratios for angle C of the right triangle. Based off this information, we can determine that the adjacent is 7, with the opposite being 24 and hypotenuse as 25. In order to find the sine of angle C, we must write out Sin C =OppositeHypotenuse and plug in the numbers to equal Sin C=2425. Next, in order to find the cosine of angle C, by writing out Cos C=AdjacentHypotenuse and plugging in the adjacent and hypotenuse number to equal Cos C=725. After solving for the sine and cosine of the right triangle, we must find the tangent being Tan C=OppositeAdjacent. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A Perfect Day For Bananafish Literary Analysis Typically, the ending of a book can be quite predicable since authors tend to be very straight forward onto exactly is what is going on in the characters minds. On the other hand, author J.D. Salinger decides to end his short story, A Perfect Day for Bananafish, in a shockingly and unexpected manner. The main character, Seymour Glass, and his wife Muriel, are vacationing at a resort in Florida. In the end of the story Seymour chooses to end his life. Although, his choice to commit suicide appears to be a mystery his comments, behavior, and interactions towards others throughout the story present enough evidence that Seymour was mentally unstable. This leads Seymour to feel alienated by society. This incident makes it clear that Seymour is mentally unstable, and that his following actions are only happening because of his distressed and disturbed state of mind. Once Seymour gets out of the elevator, he enters his room and went over and sat down on the unoccupied twin bed, looked at the girl, aimed the pistol, and fired a bullet through his right temple (9). After reading the disheartening description of Seymour s suicide, the fact that he carried a pistol in his luggage shows death roamed his mind, he planned this action and feels no regret. Stewart goes on to list and describe what they are; deception, betrayal and aggression. Deception is lying (p.329) and it is a form of betrayal that hurts our trust, respect and communication while in relationship with others. Betrayal is when you have high expectations of a person and they let you down, disappointing you concerning the expectation that you have set for them. Aggression is when you abuse a persons self concept (p.329), emotionally, socially, mentally, physically, and psychologically (Stewart, 2012). The ions who are the cause of acidic properties is H+ ions, or protons, and for basic properties, it s the OH ions, or hydroxide ions. all of that is based on a theory called the dissociation of water (which is H2O H+ + OH ). So the more H+ there is in a solution, the more acidic the solution is, and the less H+ there is, the more basic it is. That is why there is H+ in solution factors on the pH scale. The more protons present at one time means the pH scale decreases, and the H+ present goes down. The pH scales job is to measure the acid and base levels of a substance and how strong they are. • 14. Antony And Cleopatra Comparison Analysis In Antony and Cleopatra, Shakespeare shifts from praising Antony as a great warrior to condemning him by depicting the gradual decline of his honor and image in order to show his inner battle between reason and emotion. This is an apparent theme in both the book and the play, though there might be some small differences, both shows how this inner battle defeats him and leaves Cleopatra with most of the power. One thing that I noticed is that Cleopatra seemed far more regal in the book than in the play. For example, in the book when Antony wants Scarus to kiss her favoring hand (205), he makes it sound like a big honor that he is able to do this. In addition, the way he describes her makes me imagine that it is a regal and important moment. In the play, however she does a little dance after he kisses her hand, which to me seemed like she was acting inappropriately and taking away the importance of the moment. It is almost as if she was undermining what the warrior had done. She made what should have been a serious and honorable moment and turned it into a joke. Even though Antony loves Cleopatra his rational side takes over when he decides to marry Octavia in order to show his loyalty to Rome. He knows that his duty is to Rome and it is where he is supposed to be and the people of Rome are not happy about all of the time he has been spending in Egypt. To fix this and mend their bond Antony agrees to marry Caesar s sister Octavia. This mend is shown when Caesar says that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 28. Protein Based Bioflocculants, Tizazu Mekonnen Protein based bioflocculants, Tizazu Mekonnen 1. Mechanismof flocculation Colloidal particles in wastewater suspension normally carry an overall negative charge on their surface that led to electrostatic repulsion. This electrostatic repulsionresult is the stabilization of the suspension as it prohibits the particles to come together and form agglomerate. Flocculants are thus added to change the surface property of such particles and destabilize the suspension so as to facilitate the separation of the solids (Tripathy and Ranjan De 2006). Protein based flocculantsdevelopment for wastewater treatment is mainly built on theirpolyampholite nature associated with the functional groups of the composing amino acids. Most studies in the literature base their protein flocculation mechanisms(Seki et al. 2010, Piazza and Garcia 2013) on theories developed for synthetic polymeric flocculants, such as polyacrylamide. Flocculation mechanisms that could be relevant for protein based flocculants include: (1) Coagulation, (2) Electrostatic patch flocculation and (3) Polymer bridging(Gregory 1973, Sharma et al. 2006, Hjorth and Jorgensen 2012). Coagulation is the process in which colloidal particles and other fine suspensions are destabilized or neutralized to agglomerate induced by addition of inorganic chemicals(Tripathy and Ranjan De 2006). Electrostatic patch mechanism is adsorption of polymers onto local sites of a particle, causing patches of local charge reversal resulting in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 32. The Hero s Journey By Joseph Campbell THESIS The main points of the hero s journey by Joseph Campbell is the basis of most stories throughout history, Divergent and The Epic of Gilgamesh being prime examples. PURPOSE These stories follow the format of the hero s journey because it shadows the steps that Campbell explained. In his study of world hero myths Campbell discovered that they are all basically the same story retold endlessly in infinite variations (Vogler). Campbell s idea of this journey that all heroes complete is present in the duration of most stories that have been told throughout history and in modern day works today. INTRODUCTION Throughout these stories the steps of the Hero s Journey are found to move the story along.
