How Did Czar Nicholas II Change The Life Of Russia
Czar Nicholas II and Alexandra Feodorovna of the Romanov family ruled from when he was crowned
in 1896, to their forced abdication in 1917. Russia s economy was outmoded and relied on
independent peasants that did not use modern machinery. Their farming season was limited because of
their natural cold climate. The political condition of Russia was that everyone was annoyed with the
autocratic system, it had no representation in government and the Tsar was out of touch with the
people s demands. Nicholas and his family were executed since Nicholas was overthrown due to his
poor handling of Russia. The Bolsheviks took control over Russia and abolished the government he
had created. Vladimir Lenin, leader of Bolsheviks, ordered a death sentence ... Show more content on

exposed to severe poverty and prices of goods skyrocketed. The Duma formed their own temporary
committee and send soldiers to control all the riots. This left Nicholas with no choice but to surrender
the throne. On March 15, 1917, Nicholas abdicated the throne and his family was transported to the
Ural Mountains and put under house arrest. They were later transferred to Yekaterinburg Palace
because of counter revolutionary forces movement the Yekaterinburg forces worried the Romanov
family would be rescued. A death sentence was placed on the family after the Bolsheviks commenced
a secret meeting and on July 16, 1917, the Romanov family and their servants were gunned down by a
firing squad in the palace s basement. In the late 1970 s, archeologists found the grave of the murdered
family, but two bodies were missing. There has been rumors of Anastasia and Alexei surviving the
execution, saying that the family jewels on their clothing ricochet the bullets and they escaped. Many
people tried to claim they were Anastasia and Alexei, but DNA tests proved them wrong and the
mystery remained unsolved. But in 2007, another grave was found near the first one, containing two

American Indian Music Research Paper
Recently there has been a new found interest in music history along with its cultures but the revival or
interest in American Indian music is nowhere to be found. One issue with popularization or revival of
American Indian music is its unique use of timbre which most western music lack, along with the
variations on sound, American Indian music is best understood from the context of their culture, past,
religion, and spiritual beliefs. When listening to music today there is a correlation with pitch of the
singer s voice along with the instruments complementing these sounds. In many of the cultural song of

to experience the struggles in the everyday life of the poor, she will never be able to fully understand
what it s like to be in that situation. Throughout her journey, she comes across many different people
and job opportunities, making for a different outcome every time. Although there was variation of
variables, her response to troubling situations was always the same: giving up. For example, while she
was working in a restaurant in Key West, she decided to quit her job as a waitress after being yelled at
by her supervisor. The same day, she quit a housekeeping job due to the low pay $6.50 an hour. In

Recording The Oratorio Song Of The Forests
Prior to composing the oratorio Song of the Forests op. 81 in 1948, Shostakovich composed the film
music Michurin that was about the life of horticulturist Ivan Vladimirovich Michurin (1855 1935).
The film music encouraged Shostakovich to compose another work based on the same rural theme.
Below is his statement during the aired interview in 1955 that confirms it:
My work in cinematography has proven beneficial for my activity as a composer. Indeed, a number of
my compositions are a direct outcome of my work in the cinema. For instance, my work on the film
Michurin has prompted me to compose my oratorio the Song of the Forests.
In fact, the lines in song no. 5 Комсомольцы выходят вперед (Young Communists go forward!) of
the oratorio ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another recycled material is the melody that occurs in the movie between 31 45 and 32 04 on the
scene where Michurin and the dignitaries were raising their glasses in a toast to Michurin s much
expected success in developing a new horticultural technique for the benefit of Russian people. The
piano plays the melody as a background music in the scene. Part of the melody becomes an important
recurrent motive that gives a sense of unity to the oratorio Song of the Forests op. 81 (fig. 2). The
unavailability of the film music score forces the author to assume that the melody is written in the key
of C major as seen in fig. 2 below.
Both the short and the longer versions of the melody, which appear previously in film music Michurin
(fig. 2), appear in all songs of the oratorio and give a sense of unity. Borrowing the terminology
mentioned by Pauline Fairclough, the short version will be called motive x. Therefore, the full length
version will be called melody x. Motive x starts on the first scale degree and ascends until the fifth
scale degree with a sixth scale degree as a diatonic upper neighbor pitch.According to Fairclough,
motive x connects songs number 1, 6, and 7, and this proves that the Song of the Forests was
composed very carefully. In addition to Fairclough s statement, motive x actually occurs in other
songs as well generating a coherence in the oratorio. Below is several examples of the utilization of
motive x in each song.
Melody x appears

The Value Of Love In Those Winter Sundays, By Robert Hayden
Love, in any form, is such that people find ways of celebrating it. The American poet Robert Hayden
honors this compelling emotion in the poem Those Winter Sundays. Those Winter Sundays is a
fourteen line literary work that gives a description of an event from the speaker s past. Although the
poem is a short description of an event past, much information can be read between the lines of few
words. Freelance writer Jeannine Johnson characterizes Hayden s work to honor the value of love s
simple, domestic services in our lives (Johnson). Moreover, the value of love in Those Winter Sundays
is underlined by the use of visual, auditory, and kinesthetic sensory images to emphasize the change in
the speaker s perspective of the events. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other than the title, the visual sensory images of the body of the poem also support the contrast and
change in the speaker s perspective. The first stanza implies the eagerness of the father to carry out
simple chores for his family as he does not fail to accomplish on Sundays the same task he tirelessly
does on every other day of the week...On every day, Monday through Saturday, and even on Sundays
too (Johnson, par. 1). The first line may denote the father s care, however, the nonchalance on the part
of the speaker in Sundays too my father got up early (Hayden 1) is also apparent. It could be that the
line is a mere statement of a simple recollection, but is also indicative of how the speaker trivializes
the father s early morning efforts. If in the first line the speaker offhandedly remarks about the early
morning efforts of the father, the speaker, in the following lines, shows more concern in sharing
minute details about the condition in which the father carried out his morning tasks. In fact, the
nonchalance in the first line suddenly changes as said line contributes to the intensity of the image of
and put his clothes on in the blueblack cold, / then with cracked hands that ached/ from labor in the
weekday weather made (Hayden 3 4). From the uninteresting normalness of the routine, the image
changes to one of selflessness as with the phrase the

A qualified health plan under the Affordable Care Act may not include pre existing condition

Everyday Use Character Analysis
In the short story, Everyday Use, written by Alice Walker, characters are compared and contrasted
depending on their values and morals. For example, Mama and Maggie are very traditional and see
beyond materialistic things and look more into the value it has with the soul and emotion. However,
Maggie s sister, Dee, is seen as superficial and believes the only way to live is to have the better things
in life. This short story really shows the differences in families and the type of things they appreciate.
Maggie is the most appreciative character in the story and most deserving of the quilts that are being
handed down by their grandmother. Maggie is a very nervous and awkward person. She can be

She is more than just angry, as told in the story, she smashes plates on the ground and storms out,
outraged. The author did this to show that everyone does have a breaking point no matter how kind
natured they may be. With everyone severely shocked by her unusual actions, she snaps out of the
spell caused by anger and immediately feels terrible about what she has done. This just goes to show
that her wrong doing was completely through anger and not her true self, because she instantly regrets
acting out of character. Her generous nature soon returns when she feels the need to apologize and
hand the quilts over to Dee. However, Dee, still astonished by Maggie s episode, feels as if it was
needed and finally understands and sees who is deserving of the quilts. The irony used here is
excellent on the author s part because it shows Dee being generous which is one of Maggie s
characteristics and that reveals that Dee may have admired Maggie s pure nature the whole time

Old Major In George Orwell s Animal Farm
Old Major is one of the most influential animals in Animal Farm. He was the philosopher of the
animal rebellion and inspired the animals to act on their wish for freedom and equality. Likewise,
Marx essentially did the same thing with socialism and believed that humans deserved equality. With
the knowledge that Orwell wrote Animal Farm as a satire, many are able to see the similarities
between Old Major and Karl Marx. One of the many similarities that Old Major shares with Marx is
they both were thought to be influential philosophers in politics. In Animal Farm, Old Major is a
respected figure; all of the animals listen to him and respect his ideas. Like Old Major, Marx was well
respected and many thought him to be the most influential socialist thinker (Kreis, 2008). As well as
Marx, Old Major s ideas about what life should be like for the animals, was widely accepted amongst
the other animals in the book. Additionally, Marx believed that ... Show more content on

Marx is a very important person when it comes to socialism and communism. Old Major, however, is
disregarded after he dies. Many of his ideas does not stick with the pigs after they take rule over the

look up to Marx as being one of the most influential people in the ideas of communism and socialism.
Marx is also thought to be the influential speaker in socialism (Kreis, 2008). Old Major was only
thought as the philosopher of the idea of animalism. Throughout the entirety of Animal Farm, Orwell
continues to criticize Marx s ideas through Old Major. He makes Marx and socialism out to be very
harsh by some of the things Old Major says, such as; The only good human is a dead one. (Bocox,
1999). Old Major is also thought to be more like Lenin because created a system in which he thought

I mean you didn t really know Walt. He was the only boy I ever knew that could make me laugh. I

Eloise says. Her getting angered by the fact the Ramona created a new friend in her mind shows how

replace them and go on with life as if nothing happened. This is not the same for Eloise. To Eloise,
Walt was irreplaceable. When she finally tried to replace Walt with Lew she grew very unhappy and
could not go on with life. When Eloise said Poor Uncle Wiggily she was referring to what Walt had
said when they were together. Eloise tells the reader the origin of the line. She was running with Walt
when she fell and twisted her ankle. To cheer her up, Walt said Poor Uncle Wiggily . Eloise admitted
she misses him and still mourns his death. The death of Walt wasn t only taking a toll on Eloise but
also on Ramona because Eloise took her frustration out on Ramona. After her rage, Eloise asks Mary

Observation of Moon’s Phases Essay
The moon is by far the biggest and most easily recognizable object in earth s atmosphere that can be
perceived by the naked eye on a cloudless night. It is hypothesized that it came into existence nearly
4.5 billion years ago, from residual debris after a planetary body collided with earth. Although,
considered the runner up to the sun as the second brightest object in the sky, its illumination is
deceitful, insomuch as the moon is not a source of light, but instead reflects the sun s illumination
from the half of the moon that is in direct alignment with the sun at that time. More readily identified
as a satellite of the earth rather than as a planet itself or even a star, it has a diameter a quarter of the
size of earth s size and it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the full moon phase the side of the moon that can be observed from earth becomes illuminated by
the sun n its entirety. Lastly, the aforementioned illuminated portion begins to shrink or wane and thus
the moon is considered to be in the waning gibbous phase, meaning that the illuminated portion is
constricts in size or diameter every day. Astrological calendars have been in existence since ancient
times where time was measured according to the number of Moons that had passed in a certain period,
or in consonance with the shadows that were cast by either the Sun or Moon. Solar years are
calculated based on the sun s motions, whereas lunar years are mutually based on the moons motions.
A lunar year consists of approximately 354 days, whereas there are 365 days in solar year. By virtue of
the eleven day disparity between a solar and lunar year, an additional month is added to the lunar
calendar every three years, and as for the solar calendar, every fourth year, a leap day is added to the
month of February. A lunar year is comprised of twelve lunar months, which corresponds to the time
that elapses as the moon carries out each of its phases and proceeds to its position of origin. In
contrast, a solar month is one twelfth of a solar year, given that a solar year is span of time that elapses
as the Earth completes a single revolution around the sun. Despite the peculiar weather patterns that

The Ghost Dance was a sign of hope for the Native American that they truly believed in. The fact that
many of them would dance till unconscious shows the determination and faith that the Native
Americans had in the hope of being free once again. Not many citizens in this day and age have faith
as strong as the Native Americans; which, can be quite disheartening at times. It is infuriating how the
government treated civil, non threatening, cooperative human beings known as Native Americans. In
fact, those Native Americans were people that rightfully belonged to those native lands. The general
policy came across as not even seeing these people as actual human beings more as an unwanted

The Role Of Historical Figures And Characters Of Pop Culture
Typically, difficulty comes along with aligning the character of a fictional pop culture icon and a
historical figure. Rarely do the people we read about in history books remind us of characters we see
on the big screen. However, when a television program, such as The Walking Dead, highlights round
personas that face major developments throughout the series, the characters become immensely vivid
and believable. So believable, in fact, that these characters can spark comparison between themselves
and the historical figures who have set the stage for inspiration. To demonstrate the successful
blending of historical figures and characters of pop culture, a distinct example comes to mind. Maggie
Rhee from the groundbreaking television show The Walking Dead and Queen Elizabeth I of England
have proven themselves women of exemplary strength. While Maggie survives the zombie apocalypse
and attempts to protect those she loves, Queen Elizabeth survives the adversity that comes with ruling
as a female in a male dominant period. These women, whether fictional or historical, face similar
challenges and responsibilities. Their wholehearted self confidence inspires the people they lead and
makes their communities thrive. Therefore, both Maggie from The Walking Dead and Queen
Elizabeth I of England embody strong female leaders, demonstrated by their approach to battle, and
personal survival.

Plastic Pollution And Its Effects
There are many forms of pollution that occur from oil spills, radioactive wastes, urban air pollution,
the release of greenhouse gases, or agricultural pollution, and one of the most preventable, plastic
pollution. Plastic pollution is an accumulation in the environment of man made plastic products to the
point that they become problematic and harmful to wildlife, wildlife habitats, or human populations.
This accumulation is due to the excessive use of plastics, which has become a worldwide issue, and is
accountable for approximately 10% of discarded waste. It has been calculated that 275 million metric
tons (MT) of plastic waste was produced in 192 coastal countries in 2010, with as much as 12.7
million MT entering the ocean (Jambeck et al., 2015). Plastic pollution can be classified based on the
overall size and thickness, as microdebris (2 µm), mesodebris (1 5 mm), or macrodebris ( 20 mm).
Plastic can be very harmful to the land, waterways, and the ocean due to its extremely slow
biodegrading process, which can exceed hundreds of years. Plastic debris can also be harmful to
marine life causing, entanglement, ingestion of plastic waste, and exposure to the chemicals within
plastics, which ultimately affect humans as well.
There are many types of plastics that exist. These varieties are classified based on the method of their
polymerization. Some of these classifications are as follows: polyethylene terephthalate (PET or

Diary Of Anne Frank Essay
he Diary of Anne Frank is a nonfiction drama by Frances Goodrich and Albert Hackett; it is about the
sadness of the two families, the Van Daans and the Franks in hiding with another person, Dussel. They
hide in the spice company that Mr. Frank used to own, inside a door covered by a bookcase that leads
to their secret annex. As the families stay in hiding for approximately two long years, they try to find
happiness within the cramped space that they are living in. For the most part, those hiding in the annex
are not able to find happiness because they are worried that they will get caught by the Nazis. The
inhabitants of the annex have a small amount of time where they can move around the house to avoid
being heard. As they continue to live in hiding, they realize that they had taken many things for
granted and greatly miss their lives before the Nazis came. One s sorrow comes after one realizes that
what they had previously taken for granted is gone. First, Anne demonstrates sadness through her
diary entries, actions, words, and fate. When Anne is writing in her diary during Act II, Scene I of the

Within the trash sample I analyzed there were around 234 items thrown away within a week s period.
Many of the items thrown away were thrown away in pairs suggesting that two people live in the

Starbucks cups, church bulletins, and Bounty paper towels. Bounty paper products, napkins and paper
towels, show up on the record 24 times, suggesting that Bounty paper products are used over three
times per day, corresponding with meals. Other brands that show up in the sample often include Green
Giant, four times, Kroger Brand, twelve times. Within the Kroger brand items there are six plastic
ziploc bags, this suggests that the people who live in this home either take their lunch to work or
school, or pre package their snacks at home into serving sizes. The two church bulletins, and church
offering envelopes, suggest that both members of the household went to church once the week they

our amazing pollinators as such as the bee, hummingbird, e.t.c. We sometimes don t realize how
important they are to us and that we take them for granted. Pollinators play a hard working role in the
ecosystem and are extremely important. The reason they are such an important factor to this world is
because pollinators are the ones that create and maintain new habitats for our ecosystems. These
pollinators are also held responsible for helping the plants grow our amazing fruits that we have today.
Since from this help from pollinators, fruits and other flowers that are pollinated can turn into world
needs and help out the world in many ways. It is said that more than 1,200 types of plants are grown
around the world for food,, medicines, spices, or even condiments. Of these, about 75% are pollinated
by animals. More than one of every three bites of food we eat or beverages we drink are directly
because of pollinators. Indirectly, pollinators ultimately play a role in the majority of what we eat and
consume. You can also make a positive difference near or around your household. So next you think
of bees or hummingbirds just know that those animals are the ones that make this world better. Plant
pollinators are amazing to this world and help every plant out there.. But

Comparing El Paso, Texas And London Essay
Imagine yourself moving to a different city. You have looked at all the cities you would most likely
move to and you have finally picked out that El Paso, Texas and London, England are your two final
choices. After narrowing down the options to two cities its important to look at similarities and
differences. Although El Paso, Texas and London, England are similar in their cheap housing and
exuberant job opportunities, they differ in their getaways, job opportunities, and housing. El Paso and
London are very similar in that the cities don t only offer housing at a very affordable rate, but also
have created ways to employ its citizens. The similarities between the cities affordable homes is that
both are using cheaper areas to reconstruct or build new homes. This causes cheaper rent and
mortgages. A similar way the cities are creating jobs is through teaching skills. El Paso offers the Jobs
Corps which provides a counselor to walk students through steps in getting a job. London also offers a
mentor to help guide employees through the daily routines and requirements to get the job. The two
similarities of the cities are just a few, but there are differences as well. El Paso has many enjoyable
adventures. Pamela Porter quotes Mike Episcopo saying, You ve got 2 million peopl in the El Paso
Juarez area, but when you get up in the canyons, it s like you r in the middle of nowhere (qtd. in Porter
1). To some, being in the middle of nowhere might sound like a bore, but to

Recording The Oratorio Song Of The Forests Prior to composing the oratorio Song of the Forests op. 81 in 1948, Shostakovich composed the film music Michurin that was about the life of horticulturist Ivan Vladimirovich Michurin (1855 1935). The film music encouraged Shostakovich to compose another work based on the same rural theme. Below is his statement during the aired interview in 1955 that confirms it: My work in cinematography has proven beneficial for my activity as a composer. Indeed, a number of my compositions are a direct outcome of my work in the cinema. For instance, my work on the film Michurin has prompted me to compose my oratorio the Song of the Forests. Another recycled material is the melody that occurs in the movie between 31 45 and 32 04 on the scene where Michurin and the dignitaries were raising their glasses in a toast to Michurin s much expected success in developing a new horticultural technique for the benefit of Russian people. The piano plays the melody as a background music in the scene. Part of the melody becomes an important recurrent motive that gives a sense of unity to the oratorio Song of the Forests op. 81 (fig. 2). The unavailability of the film music score forces the author to assume that the melody is written in the key of C major as seen in fig. 2 below. Both the short and the longer versions of the melody, which appear previously in film music Michurin (fig. 2), appear in all songs of the oratorio and give a sense of unity. Borrowing the terminology mentioned by Pauline Fairclough, the short version will be called motive x. Therefore, the full length version will be called melody x. Motive x starts on the first scale degree and ascends until the fifth scale degree with a sixth scale degree as a diatonic upper neighbor pitch.According to Fairclough, motive x connects songs number 1, 6, and 7, and this proves that the Song of the Forests was composed very carefully. In addition to Fairclough s statement, motive x actually occurs in other songs as well generating a coherence in the oratorio. Below is several examples of the utilization of motive x in each song. The American poet Robert Hayden honors this compelling emotion in the poem Those Winter Sundays. Those Winter Sundays is a fourteen line literary work that gives a description of an event from the speaker s past. Although the poem is a short description of an event past, much information can be read between the lines of few words. Freelance writer Jeannine Johnson characterizes Hayden s work to honor the value of love s simple, domestic services in our lives (Johnson). The first stanza implies the eagerness of the father to carry out simple chores for his family as he does not fail to accomplish on Sundays the same task he tirelessly does on every other day of the week...On every day, Monday through Saturday, and even on Sundays too (Johnson, par. 1). The first line may denote the father s care, however, the nonchalance on the part of the speaker in Sundays too my father got up early (Hayden 1) is also apparent. It could be that the line is a mere statement of a simple recollection, but is also indicative of how the speaker trivializes the father s early morning efforts. If in the first line the speaker offhandedly remarks about the early morning efforts of the father, the speaker, in the following lines, shows more concern in sharing minute details about the condition in which the father carried out his morning tasks. In fact, the nonchalance in the first line suddenly changes as said line contributes to the intensity of the image of and put his clothes on in the blueblack cold, / then with cracked hands that ached/ from labor in the weekday weather made (Hayden 3 4). It is hypothesized that it came into existence nearly 4.5 billion years ago, from residual debris after a planetary body collided with earth. Although, considered the runner up to the sun as the second brightest object in the sky, its illumination is deceitful, insomuch as the moon is not a source of light, but instead reflects the sun s illumination from the half of the moon that is in direct alignment with the sun at that time. More readily identified as a satellite of the earth rather than as a planet itself or even a star, it has a diameter a quarter of the size of earth s size and it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the full moon phase the side of the moon that can be observed from earth becomes illuminated by the sun n its entirety. Lastly, the aforementioned illuminated portion begins to shrink or wane and thus the moon is considered to be in the waning gibbous phase, meaning that the illuminated portion is constricts in size or diameter every day. Astrological calendars have been in existence since ancient times where time was measured according to the number of Moons that had passed in a certain period, or in consonance with the shadows that were cast by either the Sun or Moon. Solar years are calculated based on the sun s motions, whereas lunar years are mutually based on the moons motions. A lunar year consists of approximately 354 days, whereas there are 365 days in solar year. By virtue of the eleven day disparity between a solar and lunar year, an additional month is added to the lunar calendar every three years, and as for the solar calendar, every fourth year, a leap day is added to the month of February. A lunar year is comprised of twelve lunar months, which corresponds to the time that elapses as the moon carries out each of its phases and proceeds to its position of origin. In contrast, a solar month is one twelfth of a solar year, given that a solar year is span of time that elapses as the Earth completes a single revolution around the sun. • 32. The Role Of Historical Figures And Characters Of Pop Culture Typically, difficulty comes along with aligning the character of a fictional pop culture icon and a historical figure. Rarely do the people we read about in history books remind us of characters we see on the big screen. However, when a television program, such as The Walking Dead, highlights round personas that face major developments throughout the series, the characters become immensely vivid and believable. So believable, in fact, that these characters can spark comparison between themselves and the historical figures who have set the stage for inspiration. To demonstrate the successful blending of historical figures and characters of pop culture, a distinct example comes to mind. Maggie Rhee from the groundbreaking television show The Walking Dead and Queen Elizabeth I of England have proven themselves women of exemplary strength. While Maggie survives the zombie apocalypse and attempts to protect those she loves, Queen Elizabeth survives the adversity that comes with ruling as a female in a male dominant period. These women, whether fictional or historical, face similar challenges and responsibilities. Their wholehearted self confidence inspires the people they lead and makes their communities thrive. Therefore, both Maggie from The Walking Dead and Queen Elizabeth I of England embody strong female leaders, demonstrated by their approach to battle, and personal survival. Many of the items thrown away were thrown away in pairs suggesting that two people live in the dwelling that the sample was taken in. Some examples of items thrown away in pairs include, Starbucks cups, church bulletins, and Bounty paper towels. Bounty paper products, napkins and paper towels, show up on the record 24 times, suggesting that Bounty paper products are used over three times per day, corresponding with meals. Other brands that show up in the sample often include Green Giant, four times, Kroger Brand, twelve times. Within the Kroger brand items there are six plastic ziploc bags, this suggests that the people who live in this home either take their lunch to work or school, or pre package their snacks at home into serving sizes. The two church bulletins, and church offering envelopes, suggest that both members of the household went to church once the week they took their trash sample. Another interesting item thrown away was an old Tommy Hilfiger brand shirt. The members of this household make enough money to throw away old clothes, suggesting that they live comfortably.
