How Did Juan Ponce De Leon Colonize Hispaniola
Juan Ponce de Leon was conceived in 1460 and kicked the bucket in 1521. In 1502
Ponce de Leon was in the West Independents filling in as a Chief under Nicolas de
Ovando who was legislative head of Hispaniola. In 1508 Juan Ponce de Leon went
with Columbus and attempted to colonize Hispaniola and was conceded
authorization to investigate the island. As a reward for stifling an Indian rebellion,
he was named to be the commonplace legislative head of the eastern piece of
Hispaniola by Ovando. In the wake of hearing relentless reports of gold to be found
on Puerto Rico, Ponce de Leon investigated and settled that island, establishing the
province s most established settlement, Capara, close what is currently San Juan.
Ponce de Leon was the primary
Physiognomies In Nudgee Beach Zonation
Zonation is the distribution of animals and plants into specific zones according to
abiotic factors and characterised by its dominant species [15]. Mangrove zonation is
the distinguishable categorisation of a mangrove ecosystem that extends from shore
to inland regions. Definitive spatial variation of mangrovespecies has been
recognised amongst different ecosystems worldwide and is accredited as being
influenced by abiotic and environmental factors [16]. In Eastern Australia, the
majority of mangrove forests may be divided into landward, middle and seaward
zones, based off of their placement in relation to tidal position. The following points
represent the typical physiognomies characterised by mangroves in their
corresponding zones:

At Nudgee Beach, erosion was found to have occurred on the edges of the
mangrove forest and along the mudflat shorelines. Erosion is typically influenced
by natural factors and occurs when pieces of weathered rock or soil are moved
typically by wind and water from one place to another. Shorelines with lots of
sediment and sand are more inclined to be effected by erosional progression.
Erosion may also be provoked and accelerated by human interference. For example,
if the decision to clear trees and plants from an area is made, erosion is likely to
occur as the root systems of plants work to hold the soil in place. If these root
systems are removed and erosion does occur, environmental conditions such as;
landslides and flooding are more likely to take place. Erosion may also cause other
plants to tip over, have their underground roots exposed and damaged and contribute
to the pollution of local waters; as a result of mud and soil runoff [26]. Erosion at
Nudgee Beach was likely to have been influenced by natural factors; however, the
development and extension of the Kedron Brook golfing course may contribute to the
acceleration of erosional processes and further damage the mangrove
Email Fraud
Some people use email to communicate not only on a personal level but for
business as well. The problem is that email is not as secure as one may believe.
When you send an email it is stored in many different areas that you may not be
aware of. There are advantages for not only you but your employer when it comes
to protecting your emails, but, there are also disadvantages for some. Your
employer going through your emails may actually be protecting you as well and
you do not realize it. There are a lot of times that an employer may be asked by the
courts for certain emails used to communicate with a client. These are saved
somewhere even if you have deleted them. So, when you think that you have deleted
them and cannot provide the courts... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Discrimination For Immigrants In The US
Despite where the funds are generated to support these programs and immigrants,
the citizens of the US may see them as a threat to their way of life. Furthermore, this
will open up a whole new issue involving the employment from a discriminatory
position, which can cause problems for employers. Of course, there will be an
imbalance of pay and possibly workload for some immigrants, but there is really no
legal guidance on how employers should treat them. On the other hand, there will
have to be guidance on what is considered discrimination for immigrants. Since they
are migrants from other countries, they are not considered to be Americans.
Therefore, the general principals of the country may not apply to them. Although it is

Analysis Of Summer Of The Seventeenth Doll
Summer of the Seventeenth Doll
Through the development of characterisation, Lawler s text acts as a mirror for an
emerging society. Whilst the play encompasses many significant themes relevant
to an Australian 1950 s society, the disillusionment of growing old is a concept
which is addressed through characters Roo and Olive, who evidently find their
discoveries both confronting and provocative. Lawler demonstrates reluctance to
grow old through Roo, Olive s love interest who has been consistently travelling to
Melbourne for the lay off season every 5 months with his friend, Barney. Roo a
dominant, masculine cane cutter who after seventeen years is reluctant to address
that he has aged significantly, is adamant to believe that he still possesses the same
strength and endurance that he once did. It appears that he is blinded by the
excitement of the lay off season to accept that seventeen years later, he is not the
same person that he once was. Roo s disillusion is notable in Act 3 Scene 1 when
he demonstrates a defensive tone when responding Nobody tells me I m old. I m as
good as a man now than I ever was , when confronted by Emma. Through Roo s
distinctive voice, Roo s reluctance to accept that he has aged is significant in
understanding Roo s response to his unwanted discovery.
Similarly, Lawler s character Olive mirrors an identical disillusion to her lover. As
Olive is evident in her distaste towards marriage and her determination to maintain the
lay off, her

Pygmalion Vs Makeover Essay
Pygmalion Vs. The Makeover
Pygmalion, by George Bernard Shaw, is a play written in 1912 based off of the
Ancient Greek myth, Pygmalion. The play is about a girl named Eliza who is
transformed from a nearly homeless, ill mannered girl to a beautiful lady by two
well off men; this is similar to the Pygmalion myth of a man creating his ideal
woman out of ivory. The Makeover is a movie intended to re make George Bernard
Shaw s Pygmalion. Although The Makeover does an outstanding job at depicting the
underlying themes and holding similar to the plotline of Pygmalion, there are still
several differences between the two pieces of work.
Although the main events of both plotlines are identical, the movie sways from
the play on several accounts. In Pygmalion, the protagonist being made over is a
girl and her transformers are two well off men; while in The Makeover the
protagonist being made over is a man and his transformers are two well off women.
This is a trend of difference between the two works. The Makeover flipped the
genders of all of the characters in Pygmalion. Another difference is the introduction
of the main protagonist in each work. In Pygmalion, Eliza is brought into the story as

Essay On Chief s Magic
Meta: Representing a brand new series and a brand new venture for Microgaming,
the developer is showcasing Native American spirit in new game Chief s Magic!
Chief s Magic Review
Chief s Magic takes you back in time where the classic 3 reel slot machine ran wild,
and uses Native American visuals to stand out from other similar titles in the
genere. With a single payline being featured, along with three pre defined
paytables, Chief s Magic is a very simple slot game experience without the usual
wild icons and scatter symbols in the mix. With the availability of playing between
0.25 and 15 coins, this game has a top prize award that is 200x your wager for the
matching of three chief icons, though this is available only at the highest bet ... Show

A wild symbol is not featured in this game, as it has only the payout feature that is
reserved for the BAR logos, which can be assembled together to make a winning
payline.
With three single BAR logos you get a payout of 3x your wager, but three double
BAR logos give you a payout of 5x your wager, and three triple BAR logos give a
payout of 10x your wager, while mixing and matching combinations of the three can
double your starting wager. For instance, two single BARs with a double BAR
following is still a winning spin in Chief s Magic, though you would get the minimum
winning payout.
Nothing but a Dud
Besides what has been highlighted before, there is not much to the game and we are
stuck wondering why the icon with the game s highest value, the titular chief, is not
featured as a substitute wild icon. Having only one payline, this won t have a
massive effect to make it a must play for any players interested, but at the very least
it would add some type of action and excitement. Putting it simply, Chief s Magic is a
dud when it comes to bonus features.
Looking for Brighter Fortunes
This is probably not the best of Microgaming s releases, as it appears to not have
power where it is most needed. There are greater games from Microgaming out there,
with a few actually being a bit adventurous with their creativeness and themes. Chief
Fortune, which is the sequel to Chief s Magic, is one of the most memorable Internet
Four Principles Of Collaborative Learning
What is collaborative learning?
Collaborative learning is an instructive way to deal with teaching and learning that
involves groups of students working together to tackle an issue, finish a task, or
make a product. According to Gerlach (1994), collaborative learning is based on the
idea that learning is a naturally social act in which the participants talk among
themselves. When collaborative learning strategies are utilized to support instruction,
students have tendency to be more engaged, retain information better, and have
preferable learning results over those of individual learners (McLaren, 2014)

Moreover it encourages the students to have the quality of respecting other s different
view in a particular topic.
Principles of collaborative learning
Collaborative activities are most often based on four principles:
пѓ Collaborative learning s first priority are the students.
пѓ Collaboration and making a work done are of major importance.
пѓ An important approach of learning is working in groups.
пѓ It is important to have organized methods to clear out real world problems, plus
this should be a part of learning.
Assumptions
Collaborative learning takes on a variety of forms and is practiced by teachers of
different disciplinary backgrounds and teaching traditions, the field is tied together
by a number of important assumptions about learners and the learning process.
Learning is lively, productive process: In collaborative learning situations, students
are not just taking new thoughts or information. They are producing something new
with the information and ideas. To learn new information, skills or ideas, students
have to work lively in purposeful ways. They need to integrate what they already
know to recognize what they thought they
The Role of the Catholic Church In The New World Essay
The Role of the Catholic Church In The New World
The Catholic Church during the Middle Ages played an all encompassing role over
the lives of the people and the government. As the Dark Ages came to a close the
ideas of the Renaissance started to take hold, and the church s power gradually
began to wain. The monarchies of Europe also began to grow, replacing the church s
power. Monarchies, at the close of the Middle Ages and the dawn of the Renaissance,
did not so much seek the guidance of the church as much as it sought their approval.
However, the Church during the Age of Discovery was still a major influence. The
discovery of the New World and its previously unknown inhabitants presented new
problems in the Catholic Church in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Catholic Church arrived in the New World immediately after Christopher
Columbus laid claim to it for Spain. After Columbus s discovery of the new lands
he wrote a series of treatise as to what the European purpose there was. Columbus,
in his writings, said that the purpose of the New World was two fold. He said that
the gospel message of the church should be spread globally beginning with his
discoveries in the New World. Second, he stated that the riches discovered in the
New World should be dedicated to the recapture of Jerusalem from the Moslems.
Columbus saw the discovery of the New World as a prophesy coming true. He saw
the Indians that lived there as a labor source that should be christianized and used for
the greater good of the church.
Two papal bulls were issued in the year of 1493 that established the Spanish
position in the New World. They also established the role that the church was
going to play in the New World. The first bull was issued on May 3 and it was
called Inter Caetera. It said that the lands discovered by Spanish envoys not
previously under a christian owner could be claimed by Spain. The bull also gave
the Spanish monarch the power to send men to convert the natives to the Catholic
faith and instruct them in Catholic morals. The second papal bull issued that year
expanded on the meaning of the first. The bull fixed a boundary for Spanish and
Portuguese spheres of influence in the New World.
Upper Body Injury Essay
In the discussion at hand few where asked to to select an upper body injury in any
sport and elaborate on the subject matter. The first thing that we need to do is define
the appendicular skeleton. The axial skeleton includes all the bones (that form bony
structures) along the body s long axis. The bones of the appendicular skeleton make
up the rest of the skeleton and are so called because they are appendages of the axial
skeleton. The appendicular skeleton includes the bones of the shouldergirdle, the
upper limbs, the pelvic girdle, and the lower limbs. (Publishing). The injury that I was
enlightening to highlight within the appendicular skeleton is tennis elbow or in
medical terms (lateral epicondylitis. The sport that this is most prevalent in is weight

bony bump on the outside (lateral side) of the elbow is called the lateral

in the elbow area is always a hazardous area for weightlifters therefore; it should be
catered towards and looked at in detail.
Many times, people in the fitness world are all about production and results with
little acknowledgement to the cause of injuries. lateral epicondylitis is cause from

Principal Agent Relationship Essay
Within a federal republic, such as the United States, we tend to rely on
representatives to represent us as a nation rather than us representing the nation. This
is due to people s capacity of knowledge as not everyone can be the best of
themselves in every area. Eventually, leading to representatives, who have the
knowledge in politics and government, in representing the people of every state. This
type of situation is when the people, who are the principals, gives authority to the
representative, who are the agents, to represent them. By definition, the principals are
those who possess authority and agents are individuals who execute the authority on
behalf of the principals (Kernell 29). Although this is common, not many individuals
are aware that they are entering a principal and agentrelationship. In the United...

Though it is not necessary for it to just involve politics, it can relate to legal
matters, personal matters, or work related relationships. One example of a
principal and agent relationship is a lawyer and its client. In this relationship, the
principal is the client and the agent is the lawyer. This is a principal and agent
relationship because the client is delegating its authority to the lawyer. The lawyer
ends up being the agent who has received authority from the principal to handle the
issue that the principal is requesting. The client gives authority to the lawyer
because the client does not have the necessary knowledge to handle a matter that
requires additional knowledge. The lawyer will be the representative of the client
who has no background in legal cases. It will allow the client a higher chance of
winning the case or having a better perspective on the matters that they are
concerned about. Since the relationship involves a lawyer and client, this example
will revolve around the law and legal issues, such as divorce, personal injury claim,
or financial
Indentured Servitude In The 17th Century
The 17th century also known as the Age of Reason was the spread of European
influence into the Americas, Caribbean, and Africa. This caused the spread of ideas,
goods, and even faith which lead to the creation of new colonies. To maintain and
support the colonies there s a need for laborers which cause the two main these of the
17th century. These themes are indentured servitude and the concept of slavery.
Jamestown was founded by English, colonist its location provided protection against
Indian and Spanish attacks. The Virginia Company was made to turn quick profits for
England, but many hardships developed to prevent that. Making a new colony with
lack of money was difficult and with that issue, hunger, disease, and deaths followed.

Even the journey there many people caught scurvy and the bloody flux. In Richard
Frethorne Letter to His Parents (Virginia, 1623) Frethorne explains his working
and living conditions as a servant. As soon as he got off the boat all he ate was peas
and loblollie which is water gruel. So, food was scarce in Virginia for the
indentured servants. The indentured servants had to work hard early in the day to
late in day for some pitiful meal. The servant s lives were also dangerous because
of the combat against the Indians. It was also dangerous because of the diseases
spreading around. In Richard Frethorne Letter to His Parents (Virginia, 1623) he
said he owns nothing but one suit, on pair of shoes, and one pair of stocking, and
one cap, and two bands. Everything else was stolen by his fellow servants. These foul
working conditions began great resentment of Englishmen towards England and also
caused rebellions like the Bacon rebellion. This eventually ended the indentured
servitude and increased the growth of slavery in
Personal Responsibility Work And Opportunity Act Analysis
The Personal Responsibility Work and Opportunity Act was a bill that was passed
into law in 1996. This law created a new program called Temporary Assistance to
Needy Families (TANF). The changes in the TANF program were significantly
different than the Aid to Families with Dependent Children (AFDC) program. The
TANF program became a part of the national welfarereform which puts a stop to
women with children being entitled to an endless amount of cash benefits. Welfare
reform was part of President Bill Clinton and his campaign s promise to end welfare
as we know it (Gilbert and Terrell 2013 p.74). The sponsor of this bill was a
Republican representative for Ohio s 12th Congressional district and his name was

bill. On August 22, 1996 President Bill Clinton signed the bill for Personal
Responsibility Work and Opportunity Act to become a law. The party affiliations of
this act are Republicans and Democrats. Both parties were crucial in the process of
getting the bill to be passed into law. The stakeholders are people who are affected by

Student Motivation
Teachers should show that they care about their students by being kind, showing
compassion and asking about students life s outside of the classroom setting. I
agree with Lavoie when he discusses how teachers should ask questions about
student s personal life s because this way students can feel like they have a special
connection with their teacher. Out of all of these motivational approaches, I feel like
I am a student who is motivated by people. For example, when an adult figure in my
life, like my parents for instance compliment me on my achievements, I feel way
better about myself and I feel accomplished for making them proud. The six
motivational approaches Lavoie describes help motivate all different types of
students. Part two of The Motivational Breakthrough focuses on the role that parents
have in student motivation. Students need their parents support and strength in order
to succeed academically, but sometimes parents may feel unwelcomed in their child s
school, which hinders the childs education. Lavoie discusses how parents should
know that they a right to be involved in their children s education. Parents should not
be afraid to ask questions about how their child is doing in school and they should
feel encouraged to have meetings with their child s teachers. Communication between
parents and teachers can help motivate the child because they can come together to
figure out what motivates the child the best. The teachers also have a huge role in
Midnight s Children and Satanic Verses
The western world often touts multiculturalism as an ideal for society. However, only
nations with centuries of cultural integration realize this goal. With the advent of the
postmodern Earth, however, young nations are striving headstrong into the practice
of cultural unification to cope with the massive influx of interconnectivity between
nations, cultures, and peoples. In doing so they neglect people s cultural that have
stood for hundreds of years. Salman Rushdie, a man exposed firsthand to cultural
hubs all over the globe, writes using dream like magical sequences to allow him to
explore the inner workings of the transcultural man. In doing so, he uses the cultural
connotations of the images to convey the chaos and surrealism of the modern world.
In Midnight s Children and Satanic Verses, Salman Rushdie aptly applies magical
realism and religious parallels to convey the internal struggle of reconciling self
determination with cultural heritage. Through the character Saladin Chamcha s arc
in The Satanic Verses, Rushdie illustrates the internal turmoil that results from
denying one s cultural roots in favor of a self determined identity. Chamcha, an Indian
British citizen, is molested at the age of thirteen and has an estranged relationship
with his father. In an effort to distance himself from these experiences, he abandons
his Indian lifestyle by changing his gestures and accent to create an English identity.

About Impetigo
Overview Impetigo is a bacterial skin infection characterized by the eruptions of
superficial pustules and formation of thick yellow crusty sores. It is highly
contagious and can occur anywhere on the body, especially in exposed areas. The
two different types of Impetigo are Bullous Impetigo, which are large blisters, and
Non Bullous Impetigo, which are crusted over blisters. Non Bullous Impetigo is the
most common type. Both types require contact precautions because they can be
transmitted via physical contact with anyone who has it, sharing the same clothes,
bedding, towels, etc... Because of the way young children proceed with their

If the infection spreads, or if the topical ointment is unable to fight off the bacteria by
itself, the doctor may prescribe an additional oral antibiotic in a liquid or pill form.
These oral antibiotics are usually taken within a range of seven to ten days. It is
encouraged to continue to take the medicine until the prescription has run out unless
a doctor has advised to do otherwise. (Nemours, 1995 2011)
Once the patient has begun to take the antibiotic, the results of healing should be
visibly noticeable within just a few days. The most crucial part of the prognosis
stage of Impetigo is actually taking the medicine. If left untreated or if antibiotics
are abused, a deeper and even more serious skin infection could breakout. It is
recommended to wash the infected areas with clean gauze and antiseptic soap
every day, more than once if possible. Also, soaking any areas crusted over in warm
soapy water has proven to help decrease the amount of crust surrounding the area.
However, it is not necessary to remove all crusting. Another recommendation to
prevent from spreading Impetigo is to cover the affected area with a sterile gauze and
tape or a loose bandage to avoid scratching. (Nemours, 1995 2011)
Good hygiene practices are also promoted to help prevent Impetigo. Steps as simple
as washing hands and showering regularly can terminate the chances of coming

Analysis Of The Bell Jar A Streetcar Named Desire ...
Compare and contrast the imagery of death and decay in the opening sections of The
Bell Jar , A Streetcar Named Desire and Hamlet .
Sylvia Plath s 1963 novel The Bell Jar , Tennessee Williams 1947 play A Streetcar
Named Desire and William Shakespeare s 1603 play Hamlet , share many
similarities, albeit there are also differences, in the way in which the themes of death
and decay are presented.
Sylvia Plath s poor mental health, which subsequently lead to her suicide on February
11th 1963, may be seen to be reflected in her novel, The Bell Jar . Death may be
deemed to have a lack of meaning throughout her novel due to the casual manner in
which the protagonist and narrator, Esther Greenwood, deals with death. Esther s
father passed away when she was nine years old, and she feels that his death
marked the point at which she changed, resulting in her mental health becoming
unstable. However, along with her mother, she had never cried for [her] father s
death (p.159). This clearly demonstrates how Esther deals with death; it is a
necessary part of life, and to Esther, as aforementioned, her mental health has
caused her to view death as more desirable than sitting under the same glass bell jar,
stewing in [her] own sour air (p. 178). Moreover, Esther s numerous attempts at
suicide remind the reader that Esther believes the only way out is death. For
example, in Chapter Thirteen, Esther asks her friend Cal, how he would kill
Bariatric Surgery, Or Weight Loss Surgery
Bariatric surgery, or weight loss surgery, is a procedure performed on those who
are obese in order to help them lose weight. The procedure works to reduce the size
of the patient s stomach, which results in weight loss and a healthier life. Restricting
the size of the stomach causes malabsorption of nutrients, which is normally bad,
but for an obese person it is the first step to losing weight. This paper gives a brief
history of bariatric surgery, along with a description of how it works; it s uses, and
complications. The paper then transitions into the future of bariatric surgery as well
as recent advancements to better the procedure. Finally, the paper discusses the

experienced major complications. In 1967, Dr. Edward Mason, a physician at the

Tina Meir who committed suicide at age 13 (Billitteri 385). Mean Girls refers to
the type of cyber bullying in which is usually performed by a group of young girls
looking to have fun in the act. The group girls most often want others to know who
they are and what they are doing in order to feel powerful. Research has shown that
females are almost twice as likely to be involved in cyber bullying either being a
victim or perpetrator. The second category would be Inadvertent cyber bullying
which consists of role playing. The perpetrator may not realize they are cyber
bullying, yet they interpret their offensive and cruel remarks through a joking
manner. The next category is somewhat similar in the sense that the bully may not
realize that they are virtually cyber bullying. Vengeful Angel refers to an
individual who is defending themselves or others from an attack, which ultimately
leads them to becoming a cyber bullying as well. The last category can be similar
to the school yard bully, which is the Power Hungry bully. This category refers to
those who may be victims of bullying themselves. A Power Hungry bully wants to
feel powerful and control others through their cyber bullying. Overall experts say
that it is most common for the perpetrators to be classified as popular student with
self esteem who are trying to bring others down by placing
What Does Corinthians Mean To Me
One scripture that I enjoyed reading and analyzing was 1 Corinthians 13: 4 7 from
the New International Version. The scripture states Love is Patient, love is kind. It
does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is
not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does
not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always
hopes always preserves. This particular scripture stuck out to me because sometimes
I believe people forget the true meaning of love and we get so consumed with things
we think are love. This distinct scripture comes from the religionof Christianity. 1

Love does not dishonor because love is not humiliating, demeaning, or
inappropriate. To dishonor someone means to go against them, and when you
deeply and truly love someone you don t dishonor them. Love is not self seeking.
To seek is to demand and love does not insist on its own way. Love is not
possessive or stubborn. A majority of self seeking individuals are absorbed in the
next big thing some individuals become so demanding they turn into a narcissistic
individual, therefore they are not acting in love. Love is not easily angered this
reminds me of the statement Love is patient. To be patient means to not get easily
angered, love is not easily irritated. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices trusts.
Love takes no joy in evil of any kind, according to bible.org truth must make our
love discriminating, and love must make our truth compassionate and forgiving.
Love always protects, trusts, hopes, and preserves. To me, this means love protects
against all evils, when something goes terribly wrong in life it s the love that helps
us get through it. Love gives us hope for a better
Cellulite Research Paper
What is Cellulite What are the ways of getting rid of cellulite?
Cellulite is a normal formation that affects most of the women and some of the men
throughout their lives. Cellulite has a lumpy and hollowed appearance. The closest
analogy to this is the orange shell. Well, what are the ways of getting rid of cellulite?
When the fat layer under the skin presses against the connective tissues and bulges,
it causes an appearance of orange peel and results in deformation of the skin. For
women, the risk of developing cellulite increases as age progresses and as menopause
approaches.
Hormonal changes, especially estrogen levels, can cause changes in blood circulation
and decreased collagen production. Growing or increasing number of fat cells with
the association of the thinner collagen layer and changes in the blood may cause
cellulite.

Fighting with Cellulite and Sports
Exercise is an important way to reduce the orange peel appearance of skin, prevent
cellulite development and to strengthen muscles under the fat depots. Exercise has
many benefits such as preventing the risk of reducing your blood sugar and staying
healthy while tightening your hip muscles, it helps to get rid of cellulite prone areas.
Quit Smoking
Smoking reduces blood flow and quality collagen production. Collagen and elastin
help to reduce cellulite appearance and progression. Smoking, however, triggers the
early formation of wrinkles and increases the risk of dry, discolored skin.

Disadvantages Of Cell Phones
Cell phones have become a shield where individuals can hide behind when they are
trying to avoid human interaction. Thus, there is a sense of comfort when one is
holding their phone. This becomes troublesome as it takes away from personal
connections that could have otherwise been made when one puts down their phone
(Lepp, Li, Barkley, 2016, p. 407). However, there are times where cell phones can be
beneficial for maintaining relationships, such as when one cannot meet face to face
and when one does not have the confidence or language skills to make plans with
someone unless done behind a screen (Pierce, 2009, p. 1368; Conti Ramsden, Durkin,
Simkin, 2010, p. 197). It is important to note, that throughout my observations,
especially while memoing and coding I discovered that cell phones were more of a
barrier than an opportunity to establish and strengthen relationships. Additionally, the
data I found at the University of Windsor in the CAW cafeteria very much resembled
two scholarly journal articles: Social Anxiety and Technology and Mobile Voice
Communication and Loneliness, which made me appreciate not only the time and
effort that was taken to publish these articles, but also my own research experience.
In sum, I hope that my work emphasizes the influence that smartphones have in
regards to human contact. Based on my memoing and coding I found that cell phones
have their advantages as well as their disadvantages when it comes to human
interactions. For instance, in
The Correlation Between Amounts Of Time Spent Playing...
What is the relationship between the amounts of time spent playing video games and
your amount of sleep?
Introduction
Nearly every day, you can read articles about urbanized countries throughout the
world, with issues or concerns arising from individuals playing video games for
excessive amounts of time. Individuals form addictions to a surge in excessive or
violent behaviors, commonly found among teens or younger children. Studies
also indicate playing excessive amounts of video games can also have an effect on
your sleeping patterns in a negative way. For instance, playing an extreme amount
of video games prior to going to bed may create a more difficult time in falling
asleep. So, I decided to take on a similar yet different type of study to discover out
how much video gaming an average high schooler plays each night and how this
may affect how many hours of sleep he/she receives. I was unable to find any online
articles for this type of study, so I decided to find out for myself using the high school
population at a local school. As the study began, I did believe that students who
participated in excessive video gaming may receive less sleep.
Statement of Task
The focus of this study was to investigate if the amount of time students spend
playing video games each evening may have an influence on the quantity of sleep the
average high school student receives. To determine this, I requested teachers to allow
me to survey students during school hours in an

Introduction This assignment asks us to evaluate online tutorials related to network
administration topics. In this case, we are to evaluate the www.e tutes.com online
tutorial, covering networking basics. Our evaluation should include a brief discussion
of what the tutorial teaches, significant technical terms learned, areas for
improvement, and our experience using the tutorial. The www.e tutes.com
networking basics tutorial teaches the history of networking, starting with the
invention of the telegraph, and takes us through to the current communication
environment of the internet. In addition, the tutorial teaches us the basics of what
defines a network, the components required for a network, and the different types of
topologies of networks. Furthermore, there are eight sections, which go into more
detail on all of these areas, including different cabling and transmission protocols.
This tutorial is very good at providing some significant technical terms used in the
networking industry. The following will provide a brief description of the terms I
feel are of most importance. LAN local area network: This term describes all of the
components of a network that communicate with one another, such as a printer,
computer, fax, server. All of the network components must meet design protocols and
standards in order to communicate with each other. Every component connected to
the network, must be equipped with a network interface card (NIC) for the

Censorship Of The World Wide Web
We live in the age of information, a world that has now been largely digitalized.
The World Wide Web is the central component of our era, as it allows people across
the globe to share and receive information in an instance. It used to take months
before a letter from China could reach the U.S, now it just takes a second with E
Mail. This fast pace information processing has allowed human society to move
forward with unprecedented speed, but it also raises many concerns for government
authorities. Sharing information is a powerful tool, and too much of it will make any
government nervous.
Censorship of information has had a long history throughout the world. In ancient
China for example, censorship was considered a legitimate instrument ... Show more

because some of these requests come from countries you might not suspect Western

Russia have completely banned Google all together.
These data suggests that the U.S government also actively monitors the World Wide

as to ask Google for data on its users more than 31,000 times in 2012 alone. Google
said that they ended up turning over at least some data in every single case (Quain).
However, some have argued that these monitoring isn t all that bad. Censorship to

Passing By Nella Larsen
Literature in the past failed to represent women in an effective manner, erasing their
self identity and relationships with one another but, certain female authors have
attempted to create and demonstrate the bond between women and their
relationships. This essay will analyze Virginia Woolf s reading to Chloe likes Olivia
from A Room of One s Own and apply it to the novelPassing by Nella Larsen and the
women relationships displayed in the text using textual evidence.

Carmichael work saying she has every right to attempt new forms and styles, as
long as she is creating something new rather than merely destroying what has gone
before. Larsen displays new styles and created ideas that were brought to light. For
example, the relationship between Clare and Irene was more so a psychological
struggle between females. These women both were in this psycho dual process in
which there are two processing systems operating by different rules. There is one
view universally known (stereotypes) then the view that isn t shared by others.
They also experienced double consciousness which means society judged them one
way while they absorbed what society thought of them and mentally judged
themselves. Clare knew genetically she was black while she spoke, dressed, and
truly believed she was white. All lineages with her black side was stripped and
banned due to negative connotations with that race and positive with the other. Irene
on the other hand embraced her Black race but wanted pieces of Clare s white world.
Woolf later mentions in her text, All these
The Mesopotamia And The Nile River Valley
I chose the Mesopotamia and the Nile River Valley. These two civilizations are two
of the most favorable ancient civilizations. Although these civilizations are similar in
many ways, the small, but impacting differences it what makes these two civilizations
stand out the most. The Nile River Valley was located in northern Africa in a country
called Egypt. Mesopotamia was located in modern day Iraq, Iran, Syria, Kuwait, and
parts of Turkey. The origin of Mesopotamia comes from the meaning between two
rivers. The land is between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. Defining moments for
human civilizationbegan within these two.
The Nile River is approximately 4,260 miles long. It holds the record for being the
longest river in the world. The Nile was a life source for Egyptians. The fertile land
from the frequent flooding was very beneficial for Egyptians. They began to grow
crops alongside the Nile. Beans, wheat, and cotton were among the crops being
grown. However, the amount of crops grown was limited because the land did not
extend very far. The land good enough to support farming was composed of two thin
strips of land on either side of the river. Farming opened the door to a critical
advancement in human life.
Instead of Egyptians just hunting and gathering food in different locations, they
began to settle down in places permanently. They began to build durable homes
instead of temporary shelters. This caused places to become villages. Villages turned
into towns. Towns
Mandela In South Africa
President Mandela played a big role in stopping South Africans segregation problem.
South Africa several years ago favored white people over the native South Africans.
Mandela used rugby and the native children to help unite the country into one. He
used the Springboks (the rugby team representing South Africa) to coach younger
kids in the slums. Francois, the captain of the team, even said, I m glad I don t live
here , when talking about how poor the slum conditions were. They targeted younger
children because their success with this population appealed to the public. This was
very smart of Mandela because this plan ended up working and all the South Africans
who jeered the Springboks initially, then cheered them on at the World Cup. The
coaches visited the youth living in the slums teaching them rugby. South Africaended
up being the underdogs yet beating two very talented team and ended up winning.
Mandela knew he had to keep all his Africaner employees to help stop the massive
racism issue. All the government workers thought they were being fired but he gave
them the choice to stay or to leave. Many white peoplehated Mandela, in fact, when
he was released from prison someone said, It s that terrorist Mandela to one of his
rugby players. I envy Mandela s way of maintaining control. He could ve had all the
Africaners suffer for what they did to the native Africans. I don t get how someone
who suffered so much is able to forgive so quickly, yet some
Forced Confession In The Crucible
The Use of Forced Confession in The Crucible
According to Revolvy, A forced confession is a confession obtained by a suspect or
a prisoner under means of torture ( including enhanced interrogation techniques) or
other forms of duress. There are different aspects of forced torture. Physical and
psychological torture are both used to force a confession. Physical force in the USA
is rare during a confession because it has been outlawed (Redich). Many people will
confess the truth if they are innocent because they have been coerced or they believe
that it will be more beneficial to confess than to maintain their innocence (Innocence
Project). In The Crucible by Arthur Miller, there are many instances of forced
confession. Throughout The Crucible, multiple people are accused of being a witch.
When the public and church thought someone was a witch, the person had two
options. They could confess and say that they were a witch or they could be hung
and die. This brings up the question, how does force confession affect the people in
The Crucible?
Physical force can be effective in getting people to confess, but there is no evidence
suggesting that the information gained from physical force is considered reliable and
effective (Redich). This is because the victims understand that the physical force will
not stop unless they confess information. Through the pain, some of the information
may be accurate, but it will almost always be tied with inaccurate and misleading

Catalhuyuk Women Analysis
Part 1: During the 1960 s an archeological dig conducted by James Mellaart took
place in what is now modern day Turkey. Mellaart was just one of many
archeologists who wanted to understand the civilizations of the Neolithic age, and
Catalhuyuk (an early civilization which lived in what is now modern day Turkey)
in particular. The dig led to a discovery of multiple female figurines made from
baked clay called Venus figurines. These figurines were most likely created around
5,000 B.C.E. Part 2: The Venus figurines could have been made to express the way
the Catalhuyuk people viewed women. Considering how plentiful the figurines are,
historians can infer that women were most likely worshipped. Women in the
Catalhuyuk civilization could have been worshipped for many reasons. They were
capable of pregnancy which people may have thought connected them to the earth.
If they had a direct connection to the earth, they were goddesses or special beings
which would have be celebrated and praised. Because religion played such a huge

meant that men didn t have to hunt for food and women didn t have to gather food.
Naturally the men decided that women were too weak to participate in farming so
the gender roles began to become imbalanced. The women, not having to participate
in food production were now viewed purely as tools for expanding their population.
Because the clock never ticked back in time, women still remain unequal to men this

Adolescent Alcohol Use As A Public Health Problem
This paper hypothesizes that the outcome, adolescent alcohol use, is not only the
product of multilevel influences, but also of risk factors accumulated over the
individual s life course, and presents a graphic conceptual framework in order to
demonstrate this. Adolescence is defined herein as 10 19 years of age, in accordance
with the WHO definition. Alcohol use is defined as the ingestion of alcohol.
Adolescent alcohol use is a public health problem because of its consequences, which
include car accidents, substance abuse and substance abuse disorders in adolescents
and in later adulthood, and negative impacts on the brain and its development.

The national level refers to the overarching context in which all members of a
political community find themselves. It is at this level that laws and other policies
which affect all members of the community are set. The community level refers to
the local context in which the adolescent finds him or herself, and includes local
laws/local enforcement of national laws, people and places (such as neighbors and
liquor stores). The next two levels are school and family, and finally the individual
level refers to all of the elements that make up the individual: genetics, behavior,
experience over the life course (this is where the vertical axis interacts with the
horizontal axis at the individual level), and the cognitive processing which ultimately
leads to the outcome. The colors represent the accumulation of load. Accordingly, the
highest level, national, is very light in color. At the individual level, the color is
darkest, signifying the accumulation of the influences/risk factors associated with all
of the levels. A multi level and life course perspective is crucial to understanding the
outcome, adolescent alcohol use. The multi level perspective is essential because no
individual exists in a vacuum and psychopathological processes occur within and
across multiple levels of functioning, from molecular or genetic to family, peer,
cultural, or solar systems; therefore, multiple disciplines and

In 1985 the famous movie composer John Williams (Star Wars, Raiders of the

until Juliet finds out that Romeo is a Montague and things get complicated from this
point. Another excellent example of a double conflict that makes it more exciting is a
fight where Tybalt kills Mercutioand Romeo kills Tybalt in retaliation and he runs
away from the city before the Prince comes and tells that he is banished from the city.
Dracula satisfied my criteria because the piece has a very exciting and unusual
conflict, which makes the story more interesting in a way and by incorporating an
exciting mysterious setting to the conflict of the story that makes the readers feel
that even though location in the story has changed, but it still feels like all of the
good characters are all on the run from Dracula and Dracula will turn the protagonist
s friends and families, one by one, into vampires like him and makes the conflict
more intense and interesting to read. A great example of this is that Jonathan
Harker, the main protagonist of the story realizes that Dracula is not human but
suffers from a vampire induced fever so he can t go back to England to warn
everybody In time. It is a double conflict Harker can t go anywhere as he is too sick
from the fever, and he knows that there is a danger approaching England but he can t
do anything about it. Even though Dracula s genre and R J s genre are different, they
Website Analysis Paper
INTRODUCTION
The level of usability of a website is determined by how simple it is for a visitor to
use and explore a website (Stokes, 2013, p. 95). Eataly is a company that sells
Italian products online and in their various locations which also feature restaurants
and activities that all relate to Italian food and products. The purpose of this paper is
to assess the level of usability of the Eataly website and how four specific design
topics, navigation, search options, professionalism, and breadcrumbs, impact the
usability.
NAVIGATION/CONSISTENCY
The navigation of a website determines how site users move about the site and how
they get to the page that contains the information that they are seeking. (Stokes,
2013, p. 95). An example of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The color scheme of the site is consistent across the site and is in line with the
company s logo. The site also doesn t have any features that would distract or
intrude while using the site such as ads or popups that ask for customer info.
Another note is that links on the site that enable users to sign in or check their
order popup in an overlay of the current page when clicked instead of taking users
to a different page. An example of this is that when something is added to a
shopping cart the site doesn t force the user off the current page to go to the cart and
the cart can also be viewed on any page without leaving the current page.
BREADCRUMBS
A breadcrumb is a visual design element on websites, usually featured just below the
header, that shows users of the site where they are on the site and allows for them to
be able to navigate the site faster since it shows them previous page links
(Domagalski, n.d.).
Breadcrumbs are utilized in the sites design on every page besides the home page.
The breadcrumbs are located right below the far left side of the sites header but
are not sticky like the header. The usage of breadcrumbs allows users of the site to
quickly see which page they are located on and see which pages led them to it and
go back to those pages quickly. An example of this is on the delicate olive oil page
that shows the following breadcrumb: Home Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Antisemitism The Holocaust
The Holocaust started because of ingrained antisemitism both in Germany and the
countries it conquered, compounded by propaganda and the encouragement and
leadership of political leaders. It also started because the passive and active
perpetrators held deep animosity towards the Jewish people ingrained by almost 2000
years of antisemitism in Christian teachings‚ which made them receptive to the
message of the Nazis, and which made the idea of eliminating and exterminating Jews
reasonable and indeed desirable.
The Holocaust was undertaken by Adolph Hitler to extinguish an entire race, the
Jewish People. Similarly, for the past five years, four million Syrian refugees have
been displaced and in need of new residential areas while more than 11.6 million
people have been affected by the civil war in Syria. Like in the Holocaust, the Roma,
physically and mentally disabled, communists and homosexuals were targeted; not
just the Jewish population. Both events demonstrate the inhumanity of our times
where a piece of paper with a stamp on it is the difference between life and death. ...

Prior to his upbringing and continuing, anti Semitism propaganda was abundant in
production. Nonetheless, Hitler established a Reich Ministry of Public Enlightenment
and Propaganda headed by Joseph Goebbels. The Ministry s aim was to ensure the
Nazi s anti semitic message was successfully spread through any mode of
communication. The propaganda reignited the resentment and underlying hatred
inside every German through the exploitation of anti semetic myths entrenched in the
European culture for generations. Propaganda also encouraged passivity and
acceptance of the impending measures against Jews, as these appeared to depict the
Nazi government restoring
Beliefs of the Anti-Federalists Essay
The name, Anti Federalists is not the best suited name for what they truly are, or
what they believe in. They are called the Anti Federalists, but it should be made clear
at once that they were not Anti Federal at all. (Main xi) Originally, the word
federalist, meant anyone who supported the Articles of Confederation. The term Anti
Federalistwas placed on them to portray them as people who did not agree with the
Federal Government, which was exactly opposite of what they are. According to the
proper definition, the Anti Federalists were really more Federal than the so called
Federalists. Many Anti Federalists felt this way because they took their bearings from
the principles of federalismlaid down in the Articles. ... Show more content on

They thought that the national government would soon dominate the state
governments. The Federalists started calling the groups of people who disagreed
with them the Anti Federalists. The Federalists felt that what they were trying to
do what was best for the country and government, therefore being more federal .
Not only were they calling their enemies Anti Federalists just because they did not
agree with them, but they also had a reason behind it. The Federalists idea was the
use of the term was the way some great men had to deceive the common people,
and prevent their knowing what they were about. (Main xiii) This idea states that
the term anti puts on an image that they are not for the federal government. The
Federalists were trying to convince the people that the Anti Federalists were not
fighting for, but against the country and government. In the Boston American
Herald of December 10, 1787 there was a phrase that became helpful to the people:
A FEDERALIST is a Friend to a Federal Government An ANTI FEDERALIST is an
Enemy to a Confederation. Therefore, the FRIENDS to the New Plan of
CONSOLIDATION, are Anti Federal, and its Opposers are firm Federal Patriots.
(Main xii) This newspaper was trying to show to the common people (Main xiii) what
the Anti Federalists believed in. The Federalists wanted a large national government
and smaller state governments, whereas the
Effects of Living in a Foreign Country Essay
Living away from your country can be a really interesting and unforgettable
experience, but at the same time it has very important effects on one s life. The
purpose of this essay is to discuss the three main effects that living in another country
can produce in your personal life.
The major effect, and also a very common one, is that once you start a regular life
away from home, you miss everything. This fact doesn t mean that you are unhappy
but that you are aware of being on your own. Missing your family and the attention
they all paid to you is a very usual thing to do. Little details like sitting on a Sunday
morning watching TV alone instead of helping your dad organizing his things or
having a nice chat with your mom makes you ... Show more content on

It s obvious then that you have started to appreciate everything you had back where
you belong.
The second main effect would be learning how to accept another type of society
and culture into your daily life. Since you are living in a place with different
customs and traditions from yours, you have to be able to develop yourself in
unknown conditions. This means making new friends, learning other points of view,
accepting different opinions and values, and seizing every opportunity you have to
go to new places. Therefore, you ll be able to achieve true knowledge. Suggesting to
change your mind totally or to be square minded would be foolish; the best thing to
do would be to stick to your most important values and, according to them, change
those that you believe could be improved.
The most significant effect of living away from home is the independent behavior
that grows inside of you. Living on your own far from your family gives you a lot
of experiences toward organizing your life. Since it is up to you and no one else to
go to school, clean your room, wash your clothes, and organize your expenses, it is
predictable that you will have a good and strong meaning of responsibility. Being
independent and responsible will help you get through life every goal you want to
achieve.
Living far from home, even for a short period of time, can be really hard at the
beginning. We have to remember that all changes are difficult, but they are
Being A Child Again
I will think that it is better to be a child because of all the good benefits that comes
with being a child.
The benefits of being a child again is so good. For an example a child is more
likely to have more fun memory then a high school teenager would. Kids do not
have to worry about grades, responsibility, getting in trouble, having to clean up,
ect. Most people will agree to disagree with me about being a child again. the
people that agree with me are probably thinking about all the good times that they
had as a child. I mean who can blame them, as child I got everything that I wanted. If
I did no want to go to school my mother would let me stay home, I did not have to
clean as much as my older sisters did, if my older sisters ere being ... Show more

I don t know about some people but for me...it made me left like it was the end of
the world and that everybody was against me. I had a few drawbacks when I was a
child. One of my biggest drawbacks that I wish my mother would allow me to do
was to go spend a night over a friends house. Spending a night over a friends house
was a big N.O for me and all of my sisters. Nobody was allowed to come over or
spend a night as well they were allowed to stand outside the front house. If they
wanted something to drink well they better start walking back home. Another
drawback was that I was no allowed to go with my older sisters when they wanted
to go somewhere with a friend. I m not 100% sure that most people will agree with
me but my mother did not really allow me to do much as a child. I m not sure that
it was because I am the youngest out of four girls o because she did not want me to
grow up.Don t get me wrong being a young adult is okay I mean you do have to
get used to doing things alone. Being a young adult shows you new things that you
may have not really think about doing. you can do so much but then again I am
unable to go have fun as a child. Being a child is more like that little saying, it was
fun while it lasted . Being a child again is so fun because a child has no worries about
Our Secrets Essay
Identification by definition is the state of being identified, which means the
characteristics and feature that set you aside from everyone else. Question is: What
makes an identity? Is it the heritage of our parents? The people we interact with? Or
how about the decisions we make on a daily basis? Each of these are components to
our identities in different manners though they each have different levels of impact
upon us. Depending on the person, everyone has different opinions as to how
important their identityis. Some may say that their past identity is not of importance
to them because they relate to who they have become throughout time and others tend
to place importance of where they come from. In his book, In the Name of... Show

much confusion for himself and his siblings. His father passed away early enough
so that McBride did not have much memory of him but his father s physical features
affected him every day. McBride and his siblings were the black kidsliving in a
predominantly black neighborhood raised by a white mother. As a kid, McBride
observed how other parents would treat their children and speak to them about their
culture and what their past consisted of in time he began to realize that he knew
nothing about his own identity. Where he first began to realize the difference
between his family and the families of those surrounding him was when he was in
kindergarten and would take the bus. It was there when he noticed the obvious
difference between his mother and all the other mothers waiting for their kids to get
out of the school bus. Gradually, I began to notice something about my mother, that
she looked nothing like the other kids mothersВ…peering out the window as the bus
rounded the corner, I noticed that Mommy stood apart from the other mothers, rarely
speaking to them (McBride, 12). His mother never spoke about her past and was not
interested in Vittini 4 communicating with the people in the community. She was not
interested in other people s influences or their
Analysis Of The Book Snow White Sorrow
Have you ever thought about the monsters, the monsters that live inside us, the
monsters that no one can see? What would happen if those monsters became real?
What if they weren t just inside us, but shown on the outside? I mean after all, All
monsters must die except the beautiful ones, as Cameron Jace states in his book,
Snow White Sorrow. This day, we tell the story of a world where the monsters were
on the outside of us, a story that could have changed the course of humanity as we
know it.
1 I always thought of being a monster as a bad thing. I mean, after all, everyone is
normal. Normal, is all I ever wanted, normal, none of this monster, none of this crazy
wacky stuff wrong with me, just normal. Normal is all I ever wanted. I ... Show more

3 Monster!! I heard something behind me. I turned around and watched the half
animal, people teasing Alicson, as she fell to the floor playing with her dress,
tuning out the people who were teasing her. I mean, after all, she is the last one of
her kind. We learned about her kind in history, how much they did for our world,
but how much havoc and pain they brought upon each other. I could say the same
about our kind. She was guarded by our town s museum of history, until earlier this
year when they realized that they can t cage her in like an animal or keep her calm
and steady like she always seemed. I remember watching the first day they tried to
help her get out. She stabbed two of the guards, and one ran out calling to get help
containing her. Her parents were both like us, but she was stillborn. A lot of people
refer to her as the last monster on this planet.
4 Every morning this would happen: I would walk to my front yard to observe the
normal people out there, and spin around, and around, watching their reactions. Every
morning the same thing, different kids, but all of them laughing, laughing at me,, but
one kid would just walk by smiling, not saying a word, the same kid every morning.
He never changed. I

Mangrove zonation is the distinguishable categorisation of a mangrove ecosystem that extends from shore to inland regions. Definitive spatial variation of mangrovespecies has been recognised amongst different ecosystems worldwide and is accredited as being influenced by abiotic and environmental factors [16]. At Nudgee Beach, erosion was found to have occurred on the edges of the mangrove forest and along the mudflat shorelines. Erosion is typically influenced by natural factors and occurs when pieces of weathered rock or soil are moved typically by wind and water from one place to another. Shorelines with lots of sediment and sand are more inclined to be effected by erosional progression. Erosion may also be provoked and accelerated by human interference. For example, if the decision to clear trees and plants from an area is made, erosion is likely to occur as the root systems of plants work to hold the soil in place. If these root systems are removed and erosion does occur, environmental conditions such as; landslides and flooding are more likely to take place. Erosion may also cause other plants to tip over, have their underground roots exposed and damaged and contribute to the pollution of local waters; as a result of mud and soil runoff [26]. Erosion at Nudgee Beach was likely to have been influenced by natural factors; however, the development and extension of the Kedron Brook golfing course may contribute to the acceleration of erosional processes and further damage the mangrove

Whilst the play encompasses many significant themes relevant to an Australian 1950 s society, the disillusionment of growing old is a concept which is addressed through characters Roo and Olive, who evidently find their discoveries both confronting and provocative. Lawler demonstrates reluctance to grow old through Roo, Olive s love interest who has been consistently travelling to Melbourne for the lay off season every 5 months with his friend, Barney. Roo a dominant, masculine cane cutter who after seventeen years is reluctant to address that he has aged significantly, is adamant to believe that he still possesses the same strength and endurance that he once did. It appears that he is blinded by the excitement of the lay off season to accept that seventeen years later, he is not the same person that he once was. Roo s disillusion is notable in Act 3 Scene 1 when he demonstrates a defensive tone when responding Nobody tells me I m old. I m as good as a man now than I ever was , when confronted by Emma. Through Roo s distinctive voice, Roo s reluctance to accept that he has aged is significant in understanding Roo s response to his unwanted discovery. Similarly, Lawler s character Olive mirrors an identical disillusion to her lover. As Olive is evident in her distaste towards marriage and her determination to maintain the lay off, her

The Catholic Church arrived in the New World immediately after Christopher Columbus laid claim to it for Spain. After Columbus s discovery of the new lands he wrote a series of treatise as to what the European purpose there was. Columbus, in his writings, said that the purpose of the New World was two fold. He said that the gospel message of the church should be spread globally beginning with his discoveries in the New World. Second, he stated that the riches discovered in the New World should be dedicated to the recapture of Jerusalem from the Moslems. Columbus saw the discovery of the New World as a prophesy coming true. He saw the Indians that lived there as a labor source that should be christianized and used for the greater good of the church. Two papal bulls were issued in the year of 1493 that established the Spanish position in the New World. They also established the role that the church was going to play in the New World. The first bull was issued on May 3 and it was called Inter Caetera. It said that the lands discovered by Spanish envoys not previously under a christian owner could be claimed by Spain. The bull also gave the Spanish monarch the power to send men to convert the natives to the Catholic faith and instruct them in Catholic morals. The second papal bull issued that year expanded on the meaning of the first. The bull fixed a boundary for Spanish and Portuguese spheres of influence in the New World.

Sylvia Plath s 1963 novel The Bell Jar , Tennessee Williams 1947 play A Streetcar Named Desire and William Shakespeare s 1603 play Hamlet , share many similarities, albeit there are also differences, in the way in which the themes of death and decay are presented. Sylvia Plath s poor mental health, which subsequently lead to her suicide on February 11th 1963, may be seen to be reflected in her novel, The Bell Jar . Death may be deemed to have a lack of meaning throughout her novel due to the casual manner in which the protagonist and narrator, Esther Greenwood, deals with death. Esther s father passed away when she was nine years old, and she feels that his death marked the point at which she changed, resulting in her mental health becoming unstable. Cellulite is a normal formation that affects most of the women and some of the men throughout their lives. Cellulite has a lumpy and hollowed appearance. The closest analogy to this is the orange shell. Well, what are the ways of getting rid of cellulite? When the fat layer under the skin presses against the connective tissues and bulges, it causes an appearance of orange peel and results in deformation of the skin. For women, the risk of developing cellulite increases as age progresses and as menopause approaches. Hormonal changes, especially estrogen levels, can cause changes in blood circulation and decreased collagen production. Thus, there is a sense of comfort when one is holding their phone. This becomes troublesome as it takes away from personal connections that could have otherwise been made when one puts down their phone (Lepp, Li, Barkley, 2016, p. 407). However, there are times where cell phones can be beneficial for maintaining relationships, such as when one cannot meet face to face and when one does not have the confidence or language skills to make plans with someone unless done behind a screen (Pierce, 2009, p. 1368; Conti Ramsden, Durkin, Simkin, 2010, p. 197). It is important to note, that throughout my observations, especially while memoing and coding I discovered that cell phones were more of a barrier than an opportunity to establish and strengthen relationships. Additionally, the data I found at the University of Windsor in the CAW cafeteria very much resembled two scholarly journal articles: Social Anxiety and Technology and Mobile Voice Communication and Loneliness, which made me appreciate not only the time and effort that was taken to publish these articles, but also my own research experience. In sum, I hope that my work emphasizes the influence that smartphones have in regards to human contact. Based on my memoing and coding I found that cell phones have their advantages as well as their disadvantages when it comes to human interactions. For instance, in

Introduction Nearly every day, you can read articles about urbanized countries throughout the world, with issues or concerns arising from individuals playing video games for excessive amounts of time. Individuals form addictions to a surge in excessive or violent behaviors, commonly found among teens or younger children. Studies also indicate playing excessive amounts of video games can also have an effect on your sleeping patterns in a negative way. For instance, playing an extreme amount of video games prior to going to bed may create a more difficult time in falling asleep. So, I decided to take on a similar yet different type of study to discover out how much video gaming an average high schooler plays each night and how this may affect how many hours of sleep he/she receives. I was unable to find any online articles for this type of study, so I decided to find out for myself using the high school population at a local school. As the study began, I did believe that students who participated in excessive video gaming may receive less sleep. Statement of Task The focus of this study was to investigate if the amount of time students spend playing video games each evening may have an influence on the quantity of sleep the average high school student receives. To determine this, I requested teachers to allow me to survey students during school hours in an

In this case, we are to evaluate the www.e tutes.com online tutorial, covering networking basics. Our evaluation should include a brief discussion of what the tutorial teaches, significant technical terms learned, areas for improvement, and our experience using the tutorial. The www.e tutes.com networking basics tutorial teaches the history of networking, starting with the invention of the telegraph, and takes us through to the current communication environment of the internet. In addition, the tutorial teaches us the basics of what defines a network, the components required for a network, and the different types of topologies of networks. Furthermore, there are eight sections, which go into more detail on all of these areas, including different cabling and transmission protocols. This tutorial is very good at providing some significant technical terms used in the networking industry. The following will provide a brief description of the terms I feel are of most importance. LAN local area network: This term describes all of the components of a network that communicate with one another, such as a printer, computer, fax, server. This fast pace information processing has allowed human society to move forward with unprecedented speed, but it also raises many concerns for government authorities. Although these civilizations are similar in many ways, the small, but impacting differences it what makes these two civilizations stand out the most. The Nile River Valley was located in northern Africa in a country called Egypt. Mesopotamia was located in modern day Iraq, Iran, Syria, Kuwait, and parts of Turkey. The origin of Mesopotamia comes from the meaning between two rivers. The land is between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. Defining moments for human civilizationbegan within these two. The Nile River is approximately 4,260 miles long. It holds the record for being the longest river in the world. The Nile was a life source for Egyptians. The fertile land from the frequent flooding was very beneficial for Egyptians. They began to grow crops alongside the Nile. Beans, wheat, and cotton were among the crops being grown. However, the amount of crops grown was limited because the land did not extend very far. The land good enough to support farming was composed of two thin strips of land on either side of the river. Farming opened the door to a critical advancement in human life. Instead of Egyptians just hunting and gathering food in different locations, they began to settle down in places permanently. They began to build durable homes instead of temporary shelters. This caused places to become villages. Villages turned into towns. Towns
  • 32. Mandela In South Africa President Mandela played a big role in stopping South Africans segregation problem. South Africa several years ago favored white people over the native South Africans. Mandela used rugby and the native children to help unite the country into one. He used the Springboks (the rugby team representing South Africa) to coach younger kids in the slums. Francois, the captain of the team, even said, I m glad I don t live here , when talking about how poor the slum conditions were. They targeted younger children because their success with this population appealed to the public. This was very smart of Mandela because this plan ended up working and all the South Africans who jeered the Springboks initially, then cheered them on at the World Cup. The coaches visited the youth living in the slums teaching them rugby. South Africaended up being the underdogs yet beating two very talented team and ended up winning. • 33. Forced Confession In The Crucible The Use of Forced Confession in The Crucible According to Revolvy, A forced confession is a confession obtained by a suspect or a prisoner under means of torture ( including enhanced interrogation techniques) or other forms of duress. There are different aspects of forced torture. Physical and psychological torture are both used to force a confession. Physical force in the USA is rare during a confession because it has been outlawed (Redich). Many people will confess the truth if they are innocent because they have been coerced or they believe that it will be more beneficial to confess than to maintain their innocence (Innocence Project). In The Crucible by Arthur Miller, there are many instances of forced confession. Throughout The Crucible, multiple people are accused of being a witch. When the public and church thought someone was a witch, the person had two options. They could confess and say that they were a witch or they could be hung and die. This brings up the question, how does force confession affect the people in The Crucible? Physical force can be effective in getting people to confess, but there is no evidence suggesting that the information gained from physical force is considered reliable and effective (Redich). This is because the victims understand that the physical force will not stop unless they confess information. Through the pain, some of the information may be accurate, but it will almost always be tied with inaccurate and misleading

They were capable of pregnancy which people may have thought connected them to the earth.
