Argumentative Essay Death Penalty
1. Argumentative Essay Death Penalty
Crafting an essay on the topic of the death penalty can be a challenging endeavor due to the
highly sensitive and controversial nature of the subject. The death penalty sparks intense debates
and emotions, making it crucial for the writer to approach the topic with a balanced and well-
researched perspective.
One of the difficulties lies in navigating through the myriad of arguments, statistics, and ethical
considerations surrounding capital punishment. The writer must delve into the historical context,
legal implications, and societal impacts, all while maintaining a clear and coherent line of
reasoning.
Moreover, the topic often elicits strong opinions from various individuals and groups, adding an
extra layer of complexity to the writing process. Striking a balance between presenting diverse
viewpoints and establishing a well-supported stance requires careful consideration and a
thorough understanding of the subject matter.
In addition, the emotional aspect of discussing matters of life and death can make it challenging
to maintain an objective tone throughout the essay. Writers must remain mindful of their
language and ensure that their arguments are based on solid evidence rather than emotional
appeals.
Lastly, keeping up with the evolving nature of the debate, including recent legal developments or
shifts in public opinion, adds another layer of complexity. Staying informed and incorporating
the latest information is essential to produce an essay that is both relevant and impactful.
In conclusion, writing an argumentative essay on the death penalty demands a delicate balance
of sensitivity, thorough research, and critical thinking. It is a task that requires the writer to
navigate through complex ethical, legal, and societal considerations while presenting a
compelling and well-supported argument. For those seeking assistance in tackling such

2. The Buffalo Soldiers
When somebody thinks about the west the first things that presumably ring a bell are
most likely Cowboys, Indians, Gunfights and The Gold Rush. Almost none
individuals consider blacks and their commitment to the development of the west.
This is because the fact that the west was viewed as free domain blacks, were still
defeated to a certain degree. What individuals need to acknowledge is that slavery is
more mental than anything. Blacks made commitments in numerous zones of the
west: on the farm, in wars, furthermore in trade. In this paper, I will convey to light a
dominant part of the numerous commitments that blacks made to help make the
American west what it is known today as The Buffalo Soldiers . Numerous
individuals convey the confusion... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Because of this expansive information of free slaves, large portions of them required
some place to go and occupations to do. A large portion of the slaves chose to go
toward the west. They felt it would provide a greater chance of establishment and
new lifestyle. This went to show numerous individuals that there opinion of blacks
was less human and greatly inaccurate. One of the numerous commitments of blacks
that were ignored was their commitment to the war scene. Numerous blacks took an
interest in the war because of it was a simple route for them to escape from the south.
This permitted them to have the capacity to investigate distinctive parts of America
and they found themselves able to escape from their social circumstance regardless of
the fact that it implied an possibility of death. General livelihood opportunities in
these groups was not accessible to blacks, such a variety of African Americans

therapeutic consideration and a benefits. Some chose it was vastly improved than
continuous nonmilitary personnel unemployment. Obviously in a few quarters, it

3. Literary Analysis Of Rene Magritte s The Son Of Man
Part of human nature is to find faces in images whether they are supposed to be
there or not. So, Rene Magritte purposely made the face unseeable behind the
apple. In his painting, there is more than what meets the eye. The way in which he
executed the piece is simple yet it still makes those who see the art wonder what it
represents. As like any artwork, successes and failures can be found in Magritte s
art and how well it portrays the meaning behind the piece. The Son of Man when
examined closer, can be more interesting than one might think. Representation lies
in every form of art. There is the literal representation, and there is the abstract
figurative way of viewing. Simply, the painting shows a man with an apple in
front of his face and a storm taking place behind him. Many think the fruit is
referencing the tale of William Tell in which he shot an apple off his son s head.
Since in Magritte s painting the fruit is floating in front of him, this alludes to him
about to be shot in the face. Others quickly think religion inspired the work. The
Son of Man sounds eerily close to Son of Man, which is Jesus title. Also, the green
fruit could be from the famous tale of the Garden of Eden where Eve took a bite
from an apple and committed the first sin. Neither of these are wrong, but Rene
Magritte states, Well so you have the apparent face, the apple, hiding the visible but
hidden, the face of a person... There is an interest in that which is hidden and which
the visible

Paypal is more than likely the most widely used payment service program used
today. This payment service has over 60 million users worldwide and there are over
190 countries that use it for money transactions. Paypal was created by Ken Howery,
Max Levchin, Elon Musk, Luke Nosek and Peter Thiel. These innovators saw the
opportunity to create an online business that would eventually be used around the
world. It is strictly an e commerce business that is completely internet dependant. The
company was founded in 1998 during the Dot Com bubble but was able to make it

Google Checkout is fairly new to the E commerce world and has a promising
future with merchants and consumers who wish to commence in online business.
Google Checkout is reinforcing its customers with one of the biggest online
companies in the world, which is Google itself. You can also be sure to trust this
money processing company because they also look for fraudulent activity. The
customer service is great and they always look out for their customers best interest.
Although I have given much praise to Google Checkout, I must inform you that
there are some disadvantages that I must bring to the surface. Google Checkout is
not as user friendly as Google itself. There is a 10 day required waiting period for a
payout. This payout waiting time is decreased to 2 days after you have had an
account in good standings for 60 days. The last disadvantage would be that Google
Checkout has only been around since 2006. It is still a fairly new money processing
company to the E commerce world and many consumers are hesitant to try it out.

5. The Current Study Has Tested The Episodic Memory Essay
The current study has tested the episodic memory; how everyday brand experience
left a mark in the memory and tried to discover that when these brands have been
tested, could people able to separate previously shown brands and new brands from
each other. Therefore, it examined whether familiarity or recollection would be more
superior. Moreover, the source memorywas tested using these brand logos. As a
conclusion, this study was needed to use recollection to remember details in the
source memory to press the correct button during the experiment. The behavioural
results provided that the type of modality influenced the response time and visual
brands helped to participants to decide quicker than acoustic which supported the
hypothesis. However, expected to be responded faster to old brands, it was
otherwise. On the other hand, accuracy was influenced by neither modality nor old
/new effect. Old/new brands have been analyzed in two separate time frames
(FN400/ LPC) to understand the neural correlates of familiarity or recollection. In
general, both at FN400 and LPC s electrodes were in the same direction as a whole,
but they did not have the same effect at the same time compared to amplitudeand
latency.
FN400 (300 500ms)
FN400 component is associated with familiarity (Rugg Wilding, 2000 Paller, et al.,
2007; Curran, 2000) and in this current experiment, the FN400 were significant,
according to timing, amplitude and topographical distribution for old/new effect.
6. Cotton Gin Impact On Slavery
After reviewing the information given it was brought to my attention how little I
was taught about the cotton gin. Something I learned while watching the video
provided was that the need for slaves became greater after the cotton gin was
created. It only makes since, if the cotton was being cleaned as fast as it would equal
to one hundred people, you would need more hands on deck to handle the freshly
pulled, and clean cotton. To hear the impact that the cotton gin had on slaverytruly
shocked me. While at first it wasn t clear to me why the cotton gin would have had
an impact. Before doing research I thought it was a relief to the slaves, they finally
had a machine that would allow them to take a step back and not work as hard. I was

Hurricanes are among one of the most damaging forces of nature that exist in
regards to a natural disaster occurring. Also, these tropical storms have potential
wind speeds of over eighty miles per hour, and large amounts of rain. Hurricanes
have the potential to demolish large amounts of territory. A number of safeguards
have been taken long ago, and also looking forward to the present time, even though
you never really know what to expect from Mother Nature. While, some well being
measures have been taken into consideration not all precautions are reliable in
regards to mother nature. On August 29, 2005, Hurricane Katrinaswept into New
Orleans, which is a city in the state of Louisiana, on the US Gulf Coast. New
Orleans is a city known largely for its culture involving such things as Mardi Gras,
Jazz, Art, and even the culinary dishes of exotic foods prepared just to name a few
things. It is no secret that the city of New Orleans has faced adversity before when
it comes to natural disasters. Furthermore it has been documented that during the
past century hurricanes have flooded New Orleans at least five times: in 1915,
1940, 1947, and 1965. Consequently New Orleans has always been at risk, though
due to its geographical location being that it is utterly bounded by mass amounts of
water. Engineers created a system of levees and barricades with the hopes of trying
to keep the city from flooding as they stretched levees and barricades along the
Mississippi river, and

One of those is that Holmes uses mobile phones to solve crimes. For example, in
the first episode he uses his phone to look up in which areas where it rained the last
few hours, he uses this information to know where she has come from. In the
original book he has never relied on anything else than his own mind and the
science of deduction. I absolutely love BBC modern take (has started watching
lots of episodes), one of the main reasons is that they include a humorous. They
include some smaller jokes here and there, which I believe was a right decision. In
the book there are barely any jokes at all if I can remember. I feel like they want to
attract a younger audience, as they generally watches more series than the older
audience
9. Driving, Distractions and Accidents
There could be so many distractions while driving. For example, driving to a friend
s house and suddenly the phone goes off. Thinking you ll be fine to text back
because the road is just going straight down, but then all of a sudden something
unexpected happens. An accident, an accident caused by a simple text. Texting
while behind the wheel looses focus, taking eyes off the wheel and it has a high
risk factor. Driving while texting is a very dangerous and serious issue that
distracts everyone no matter what the age is. A few people thing they can text and
drive because they are supposedly expert drivers. Or they can text without looking
at their phones, and they might think it is safe for them but consequently it is not.
Just because the persons eyes are not on the phone doesn t mean they didn t loose
their focus on the road. They could be thinking if they spelled everything right, or
if the automatic correct spelling is the word they actually meant. Their main focus
is mentally on the text message they relieved. For example, thinking about what to
write for the text can probably cause a blind site on the road. You can always just
pass a red light or almost run someone over because you are not looking all around
you. Just because certain people have been driving for years does not make them
an expert driver. A simple text is not worth loosing your life or someone else.
Texting while driving is like drinking and driving. But I believe texting and driving
is a

The Idea of writing about Acute Disseminated Encephalomyelitis came to me as I
was watching the medical show called Mystery Diagnosis in discovery. This
neurological disease caught my attention so much because the patient went to
several doctors and no one could give her a clear answer as to why this symptoms
were happening. Also, with rare cases like this one it only further proves that the
human body is still a mystery. This neurological disease relates to our Anatomy and
physiology class because of the simple fact that we are trying to learn and understand
how the body as a whole is made but also how each part connect, functions, and could
potentially damage each other. More Importantly, this neurological disorder further
enhances our learning in possible disease that can affect the central nervous systemas
well as the peripheral nervous system.

system mistakenly attacks its own brain tissue. Most of the time, it is believed to be
triggered by a response to an infection, vaccination or other environmental stimulus.
Furthermore, ADEM is sometimes referred as a post infectious or post

brief yet widespread attack of inflammation in the brain and spinal cord that
damages the protective covering of nerve fibers (myelin). This disorder can happen
at any given age, however, it is more common in yonger children. It is also common
for ADEM to happen in the winter and spring time and it is more common to happen

11. Iphigenia Roles
Greek culture has made its own mark on our society in the United States. Before
women s suffrage, U.S. women had the same roles as Greek women did. The main
part of this play talks about the fight for who gets Helen, and the role that Iphigenia
has in this task. A lot of Greek myths and plays reference sacrifices of a daughter to a
god, in order to help a group of people or make the god happy. The main people of
this story: Helen and Menelaus, and Iphigenia, who all have their specific roles in
this play, and roles in their societies. Helen, being the one who is fought over,
Iphigenia, who is being sacrificed, Menelaus, who is the king of sparta, but would
lose that position without Helen, and Agamemnon, the father that sacrifices his
daughter to Artemis. All of these example show what is expected of them in their
positions, and their genderin their society. Helen of Troy isn t really a main
character in this play, but her role pretty much creates the entire body of this play.
Her beauty, and the role she had in Sparta, is why the Trojan warwas fought.

Her role is to be sacrificed to Artemis so that Agamemnon and his soldiers can make
it safely to Troy to get back Helen. Iphigenia accepts her fate, and does it for the
better of Sparta. Towards the end of the play she says this to her father before she is
to be sacrificed, Father, here I am. And I give my body willingly as a sacrifice for my
country, for all of Greece (Euripides, Iphigenia in Aulis lines 2082 2085). Iphigenia s
role as daughter in this play is for her to sacrifice herself because of the ignorance of
her father. George says, Iphigenia s acceptance of the sacrifice is naive (George,
2012, pg. 1). This is a good way to put it, since she doesn t realize that her father is
sacrificing her for himself for the most
12. Romeo And Juliet Gender Roles Essay
In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, William Shakespeare defines
gender roles as traditional, however he challenges it by making the main characters
non traditional. He writes all the men , like capulet, and the kingsmen in the play as
traditional male gender role. All except for Romeo, who he writes as a non male like
genderrole. For the women in the play; the nurse, lady capulet, and juliet, he writes
them as non typical gender roles. Lady Capulet and the nurse are some form of
housewife, but their personalities are all independent. They both have their jobs to
take care of the men, but are seemingly independent. Capulet and the kingsmen are all
distinguished as strong, powerful characters. They are leaders, and fight with those
they hate, which Shakespeare writes as a traditional male trait. All except for Romeo.

They all are strong women. Although the women aren t really independent, their
personalities are. Lady Capulet has no job, and only serves as the wife of Capulet,
she still is independent with her own thoughts. She doesn t ask anything from
Capulet when she talks about marriage to Juliet. She is really seen as a
independent character. The Nurse works for the Capulet family. She is
independent in that she single handedly raised Juliet. She has no husband and
helped raise Juliet to the women she became. She always has her own opinion and
says it, despite being a servant. Juliet is just a girl, but still makes her own
decisions. She goes against her family and does what she believes. She didn t tell
anyone about Romeo and dates him even though their families have a fued. She
doesn t want to be like all the other women and just get married. She gives herself
her own voice. All the women have their own mindset and self sufficiency, while
living their lives as stereotypical women
13. Summary Of Sonnet 42 By Millay
In Sonnet 42, Edna St Vincent Millay speaks of various love affairs coming to an
end and the forlorn and remorseful feelings linked to them. She expresses her longing
attitude towards her lost loves by employing melancholic diction, contrasting seasonal
imagery, and natural metaphors. The melancholic diction creates the longing attitude
toward the speakers past loves in the poem. Words such as forgotten (line 2) and
unremembered (7) all stress the speaker s attitude because they have negative
connations that convey the remorseful and longing feelings. These words also are in
the past tense which portray the speaker s gloomy feelings when she reflects on the
past and her loveinterests back then. The melancholic diction is also associated with
the seasonal imagery and natural metaphors that are described throughout the poem....

The author first depicts winter imagery when describing the lonely tree (9) and
how the birds have all vanished because it evokes the image of a bare tree as all the
birds have left and migrated south for the winter. Winter is a cold, depressing season
because everything is gone, the leaves, the birds, the plants, just like the speakers
love interests all have gone too. Thus the winter images add further to the longing
attitude of the speaker. Then, the author contrasts the winter imagery with summer
images. Summer is the season of joviality and lightheartedness, but the speaker states
that what summer sang in me (13) is gone, which infers that the speaker s happiness
and lively spirit is gone because all her past loves have left. The contrast between the
descriptions of the two seasons, which symbolize different feelings, highlights the
speakers longing attitude for her past loves that have

Effects of Scandal on Brazil and Investors The Petrobras scandal has definitely put
Brazil back to square one. The country has seen tremendous growth over the last
two decades; however, this scandal is occurring during a pivotal part during
Olympic season. Petrobras is highly indebted, meaning it owes a large amount of
money to pay back a monetary loan. Oil companies take on large amounts of debt,
and Petrobras carries a large amount of it. In June 2014, investors faced trouble
because of two scenarios on an asset write off. During the scandal, Petrobras was
carrying assets with higher values than they deserve because of fraud. The first
scenario is a 1% write off, and the worst case scenario is a 5% write off. A 1% write
off will cause a 19% reduction in net income for 2014, whereas a 5% write off
decreases net income by 95% The short term effect of the scandal is that it puts
pressure on a weak government that has weak economic growth, whereas the long
term effect is extensive repair on the relationships of private sector companies and
16. Recruitment And Retention Of Nontraditional Students
Recruitment and Retention of Nontraditional Students
The reality for career technical educators with regard to broadening representation of
both men and women in nontraditional careers is that there needs to be a creative
recruitment strategy designed that utilizes the enthusiasm and talents of successful
role models (Lucci Jr., W., 2007). Effective recruitment and teaching practices can
help educators create learning situations that are conducive for all students to learn,
especially those nontraditional students in career clusters. Suggestions for recruiting
nontraditional students include creating career technical programs to reach all
students, presenting career clusters in a way that shows how career pathways can
align with interests, giving students multiple opportunities to explore both traditional
and nontraditional careers. Educators should market career technical programs to
reach all students, making a concerted effort to attract nontraditional students through
the use of photos and graphics that show both genders and various races in careers at
the technical and professional levels (Clark, P., Ohio State Univ., C. y., 2000).
In recruiting nontraditional students, intentionality and good planning are important.
Unfortunately, lingering stereotypes often make the first step of signing up for a
class in a nontraditional area difficult. Strategies which are effective are those that
understand and consider the target audience, provide information in a way in which

significant others. If you get to the postconventional stage, it focuses on justice and
the common good. The higher stages always incorporate the thinking and
experiences of the lower stages. In the article Values Clarification, when we know
our values and can learn from them, it can help us achieve peacefulness and alleviate
stress. Values are constantly applied to our everyday life and our decisions. There are
two different types of values: instrumental and terminal. Instrumental describes our
personal traits and characteristics. Terminal are things we can try to achieve, and we

My opinion of this story is Never allow your talent to cage you . I say this because;
Zerona was very crafty when it came to making okra soup and plaiting fathoms.
Quite interesting was that Ber Debbil had a fondness for okra soup. Furthermore,
he basically serenaded her for one purpose. But it wasn t her beauty that caught
Ber Debbil s attention . She didn t realize it, since her beauty took all the credit
most of the time. What I found so ironic was ... he immediately shut the poor girl
up in his kitchen and ordered her to prepare her best okra soup in his biggest
cooking pot. Understanding Ber Debbil s intention, I then came to the conclusion
that Zerona s talent actually got her in a trap. This comes back to my idea of the
tale, Never allow your talent to cage you . Ber Debbil caged her, because she was
good for one thing he loved and that was okra soup. In addition to the theme,
Patricia indulges me in the thought of understanding the concept of the story. Jack
and the Schoolmaster was also a good example to imply of a theme. My opinion of
this story is There are many benefits for standing up for something that is right . I
can infer to this, as a result of what took place in this particular story. Ber Debbil is
utterly mischievous and cunning. The residents on that settlement were very gullible
and not used to such brought upsy. They cling on quickly to whatever Ber Debbil
said. Jack felt and knew something was suspicious about him.
19. The Color Red in American Beauty Essay
The Color Red in American Beauty
The beauty that addresses itself to the eyes is only the spell of the moment; the eye
of the body is not always that of the soul. George Sand hit the nail right on the head
when he said this in 1872. Appearance versus reality has been a central theme in
many American creative works including the film American Beauty. American
Beauty is a film that delves into your typical, middle class suburban American home
and slowly uncovers all of the abnormalities that lie within. The family is portrayed
as normal but as the films tag line suggests look closer then it is possible to fully

with the reality that they are a dysfunctional family.
Red roses become not only a motif in the film; they come to represent symbols.
They are prevalent in almost every scene. They are in the garden; almost every
room in the house has a bouquet of brightly colored roses in a vase. They are the
centerpieces to the dining room table. This table becomes a motif in the film as
well, the family has its nightly dinner ritual and over the course of the movie we
see a delineation of the family at this table. Rose petals are the symbol of sex as
well, they are seen surrounding Angela for Lester, they burst out of her blouse, they

onto his face when he pictures her above his bed. The front door to the house

rather shocking the type of treatment women who were not married received.
Unmarried pregnant women seem to be treated like debris, left on the street. I

The conditions Oliver Twist was in raising up were simply horrifying. It is utterly
terrible that Oliver was constantly hungry during the when he was in Mrs. Mann s

22. The Impact of China s One-Child Policy on Its Economic...
: What is the impact of China s one child policy on its economic growth over the
years? This paper will show that the standard econometric estimation conceals the
takeoff effect and thus underestimates the economic impact of demographic changes.
In effect, the impact of China s one child policy moved the timing of the economic
take off by a decade. The original intent of the one child policywas for economical
purposes. The authorities envisioned reducing the demand of natural resources,
reducing the rate of exploitation, and reducing unemployment caused by surplus
labor, and maintaining a steady labor rate. 100 words

1. Introduction
At the start of China s economic reforms in late 1970s, the Chinese leadership
established population control as one of its main priorities. The post Mao
leadership believed that China population control was the key to ensure growth in
per capita income. This led to the elevation of the one child policy. The one child
policy of China was the official family planning policy that was aimed at controlling
the population of China. The one child was introduced in 1979 mainly to help in
alleviating economic, social and environmental problems in China. It was estimated
by demographers that the policy helped avert about 200 million births between 1979
and 2009 although some other estimates puts it at 400 million. About two and half

Urban and suburban schools are different in many ways including funding, teacher
quality, and student performance. Low income, inner city schools often have more
disadvantaged students then their richer suburban neighbor schools. When analyzing
the differences in school funding, and the dropout rate of students as well as
teachers, it becomes apparent that real change is needed to help bridge the gap
between urban and suburban schools. Most would agree that all kids should have
access to a quality educationand that where students live should not determine
whether they learn. Today s education system is failing thousands of children based
on their geographic location and is in major need of reform.

Urban schools often do not have the funds to pay qualified teachers as much as
they deserve, so schools must hire teachers with less experience and fewer skills.
There are major teacher shortages in most low income, urban schools. A shortage is
caused when the demand for teachers is greater than the supply of teachers willing
and able to teach in an urban school. Therefore, a teacher shortage in urban districts
makes it hard to hire qualified teachers so...teachers who are hired are often less
qualified than teachers in suburban districts (Jacobs). These shortages are especially
noticeable in the subjects of math and science. Urban schools had 34.7 percent
difficulty filling teacher vacancies in math and 27.2 percent difficulty in science
while suburban schools had only 25.1 percent difficulty in math and 17.4 percent
difficulty in science (Jacobs). In addition, urban schools were substantially more
likely [than suburban schools] to fill these vacancies by hiring a substitute (42.4
percent versus 30.0 percent) or hiring a less than fully qualified teacher (19.2 percent
versus 14.4 percent) (Jacobs). This means that students in urban districts are being
taught by highly unqualified teachers while suburban students benefit from teachers
who have vast experiences and

29. Essay On Non Traditional Students
The dynamic of University environment has changed over the course of the last
decade, with nontraditional students encompassing between 50 and 75% of the
undergraduate population. These nontraditional students possess the responsibility
and self regulation that is not commonly found in the traditional Universitystudent, as
displayed in a research study performed by H. B. Slotnick, M. H. Pelton, and L.
Tabor. Their motivationfor educationrelies in their personal interests and satisfactions,
job improvements, employment requirements, and their own perception of personal
value. This differs from the research performed by M. Knowles, which shows that
conventional students depend on external motivation, and lack the self regulation
found in nontraditional students. The focus was then shifted to the adult learning
style, and how greatly it differs between younger generations. A study held in Auburn
University in Montgomery used two main investigative questions as the basis of their
research:
What motivational factors, distinguish between students who attend a traditional or
non traditional campus?
What differences, if any, are there in learning strategies of the students who attend a
traditional or non trational campus?
The study sampled individuals from two separate campuses filling the demographic
of traditional students (ages 18 22), and non traditional students (ages 23 and older).
The first sample was derived from Auburn University at Montgomery (AUM) student
population.
30. Dichloromethane Lab Report
In this experiment, a Friedel Crafts acylation was carried our by reacting acetic
anhydride (the acylating agent) and dichloromethane (solvent) with anisole to
substitute an acyl group onto the aromatic ring of anisole. Friedel Crafts reaction can
be classified as an electrophilic aromatic substitution. This involves an electrophile
replacing a hydrogen atom located in the aromatic compounding forming a new
carbon carbon double blond. Acylation of a monosubstituted benzenehas the
opportunity to yield any or all three different disubstituted products. We used the
boiling point and results from 1H NMR spectroscopy to determine if the product was
a single product or a mixture of isomers. Say something about yields, NMR, and
boiling point....... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first step was to weigh 2.93 g of anhydrous AlCl3, which acts as the Lewis acid
catalyst. 10 mL dichloromethane was used as the reaction solvent, and 1 mL
anisole were stirred in a 50 mL RBF, in an ice bath because the reaction is highly
exothermic. Next, the previous measured AlCl3 is added very slowly. Any
remaining mixture is washed out with CH2Cl2. 1 mL acetic anhydride, which is
the acylating agent, is dropped slowly through the funnel because an exothermic
reaction occurs. It is then heated under reflux with a drying tube to exclude
moisture from the reaction for 30 minutes to complete the reaction. The warm
mixture is now poured over 10 g of ice in a beaker to decompose the aluminum
chloride complex of the product and transfer organic salts to the aqueous phase.
The product was then allowed to sit at room temperature for one week. The
organic layer was then collected and washed with 5 mL 3 M NaOH and 5 mL
saturated aqueous NaCl in the second wash. The organic is the bottom layer both
times due to the density of the halogen present in the dichloromethane. The CH2Cl2
was then dried using ~1 g of anhydrous MgSO4, a drying agent. I continued to add
more drying agent until there was no clumping and the solution had free floaters. The
dichloromethane layer was evaporated by the Rotovap in a 50 mL round bottom flask
31. Capitalism on Wages and Income Essay
Introduction
Capitalism is an economic system in which industry, trade and factor and means of
production are controlled by private investors or owners with an aim of making profit
in a market economy. It affects the rate of capital accumulation, labor wage and the
control of competitive market. This usually affects the economy of different societies
since the government has no control over the economy. The forces of capitalism
greatly affect the societies in that the poor continues to be poorer while the reach
society continues to accumulate wealthy and become richer. It widens the income
disparity gap. It influences both the economic aspect and social aspect of the

For the wages to increase mostly the intensity of labor and cost of long hours are
inevitable. Therefore, capitalist cannot benefit the poor.
Capitalism and free trade According to Richard N (2006), the free movement of
goods due to free market or trade has led to globalization. Though the effects have
been assumed to benefit all, there is a large inequality among the poor and the rich
both within the countries among the nations. Capitalism is contributed to
technological advancement, which has then influenced free trade. The uncontrolled
globalization has resulted in more developed societies becoming rich. The rich
economies are able to exploit the market by producing at lower price due to their
level of technology and advancement in research. They are also able to protect their
economy through export subsidies and production subsidies to their farmers. This
translates to lower prices for their goods in the global market hence controlling it.
The poor countries despite having comparative advantage in production of some
commodities they also suffer from competitive advantage from the developed
countries they are forced to sell their commodities at a lower price than their
expected. They suffer a lot in global trade, which is mainly controlled by the
wealthier nations. There are regulations, which restrict the flow of goods in the world
market from poor societies. This makes

of the Louver Museum s well known Mona Lisa painting, and Jacqueline Kennedy
directed the divulging. From Malraux, she created thoughts on the consequent

Violence. Money. Drugs. Power. These are the factors that are a part of being a

was so powerful that he controlled the empire of the drug dealing in Colombia. He

making him one of the most dangerous drug lords of all time.
Escobar was born in Rionegro, Colombia on December 1st, 1949. Rionegro is a

injustices among the government. Individuals hid and lied to keep safe from being

Arthur Miller s The Crucible explores the Salem Witch Trials while following the

These individuals may or may not have been witches, yet the jury many times
chose to hang any accused individuals with or without reasonable cause. Today,
much like during the Witch Trials, people are sent to prison for crimes they didn t
commit. Of course, many guilty people are sent to prison and rightfully so, but
sometimes good lawyers are able to convince the jury unjustly sending innocent
individuals to a life in prison. Though, Americans are not scared of being sent to
jail for witchery, they are scared of being in the wrong place at the wrong time due
to the fear of governmental polices. Due to fear of being wrongly accused during
the Salem Witch Trials erratic and chaotic behaviors stemmed across the town.
People feared being called witches so they hid, lied, cheated, and wrongfully
blamed their friends and family. Chaos grew across the town and more and more
people were hung. In comparison, during 9/11 in the United States citizens across
the nations hid, cried, and hurt due to the destruction occurring on the home front.
Though our towns and nations faced different types of chaos, chaos and odd
behavior still occurred. Often as others begin acting out, others follow. In Salem
people hid and accused others to hide their own behaviors. When terrorism struck
New York City our entire nation grew into uproar. Our citizens feared for their life,
therefore people acted crazily
38. Applying John Stuart Mill s Utilitarianism Theory
In July 2011, activists shut down a San Francisco subway station as a way of
protesting the death of a man shot by a Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) police
officer. This case was totally against the utilitarianism s ethical. The principal of
utilitarianism state that a person should perform an action that will produce the most
benefit to each person or the most happiness to the greatest number of people.
Happiness in this term is defined as something that is fun but not to be a moral action.
Quinton (1973), for instance, assume an individual who supports utilitarianismas
those who agree that the goodness of an action or behavior is determined by the
outcome of the action. Moreover, utilitarianism is also a basic theory of John Stuart

Deontological ethics or deontology is the normative ethical position that judges the
morality of an action based on the action s adherence to a rule or rules. It is
sometimes described as duty or obligation or rule based ethics, because rules bind
you to your duty (Wikipedia). This theory is depending only on the action not
included the outcome of the action. The reason for me not to support this theory
because as by applying this theory to the protesters, we can see that this theory just
evaluates the action of the protesters, not the effect of having protest by the
protesters. By this theory, the actions of the protesters are considered to be a good
and a morality action as the activist only goal was to uphold the justice. But, what I
disagree about this Kant theory is although the protestors had a good goal, but if the
outcome of this case is worse, how can it be a good and a morality action? Thus, I
think this theory not working when applying it to the

stories on 8 points that I found kind of overlap on one another. It should be pointed
out that the Egyptian myth came around more than 2000 years before Jesus was
even said to be born. The first topic is the Birth of the two Gods and the signs
given as to when they came. When Osiris was born To Geb the Egyptian Earth God
and Nut the Sky goddess a voice came to Pamyles to spread the good word and
Pamyles attended him for life. When Jesuswas born in Jerusalem he was born of the

The Pharisee s plotted to get Jesus killed because of what he taught and how it
affected the church controlled state. While Osiris did not have jealous outsiders, the
jealousy that would eventually kill him was within his own family, his brother Seth
who wanted the crown and Isis his wife for his very own. Both Jesus and Osiris had
a last supper or Feast . Osiris had one with his family when he returned from his
travels. Seth and 72 coconspirators tricked him and locked him in a coffin and
threw it into the Nile. Jesus had a last supper with his 12 disciples taking bread and
wine and giving Christians the tradition of communion. After the last supper Jesus
went to the gardens to pray and was betrayed by Judas and given to the Roman
soldiers, like Osiris was betrayed by his brother Seth as Jesus s disciples were like his
family. The next point is that both died of wood. Jesus died on a wooden cross after
he was beaten and tortured by the roman soldiers. Osiris died of wood also in his
story his coffin floats down the Nile until it got stuck on a great tree and was
encased by the tree. The tree was then cut down by a used as a great pillar in a
palace. The annual flooding of the Nile is supposed to represent this story as the
flood come from the tears after Osiris died much the same way Christians follow the
Easter Story every year. In Jesus s story after he died on the cross he was taken down

1990). Shaft tombs were found at some sites, such as the vast cemeteryat Bab edhDhra
, where the Early Bronze Age I phase includes several thousand shaft tombs. As no

At other sites, such as Megiddo, the shafts are elaborate and square, and they lead
into a cave with several rectangular rooms (Mazar 1990). They generally contained
one or more disarticulated individuals. The grave goods usually included only some
pottery vessels and sometimes a number of copper weapons (e.g. a dagger and/or a
spear); beads were found with female remains.
The use of caves for multiple burials became popular again in the Middle Bronze
Age IIB C after a long gap. This method suited an urban society in which families
wished to bury their dead in the same place over several generations. Dozens of rich
burial caves from this period at Jericho are good examples of the custom. The
bodies were laid on a wooden bed in the center of the cave. A similar practice from
a possibly earlier date is evident at the cemetery of Baghuz near Mari (Mazar
1990). At Jericho, older burials were pushed to the sides to allow room for the new
ones on the bed or near it. Dozens of individuals were found in the same cave,
together with a rich collection of burial gifts, including pottery vessels (some with
food remains), wooden containers, weapons, tools, jewelry, and seals. A particular
feature of the Jericho tombs is the preservation of organic material, namely wooden
furniture (Mazar 1990). Variations between cemeteries in close proximity may
indicate either a chronological sequence or the possibility that related tribal
42. Coast Threads Case Study
Heads shops represent a huge market including states that haven t legalized medical
and recreational. Headsquest Magazine reported that smoke shops produced $10
billion in revenues annually in the United States. But with dispensaries and retail
stores are jumping into that market as well.(Schroyer, 2014) Coast2 Coast Threads
LLC mission statement is focused on bringing elevated clothing and art from around
the country to RI. One art that the store is missing is glass apparel. The competitive
advantage that the store is that we are the only retail store that sell Grassroots
California and Thyreda apparel in Rhode Island. With that advantage we have been
invited to and sponsored to vend at events like High times cannabiscup. To compete
is the already established head shop industry., we will have to sale local American
made glass, such as a Danny Camp piece. Coast2 Coast Threads has developed a
following and opening the door for another product with the same kind of followers,
with help expand the store through Rhode Island, like on Thayer and Thames Street.

It was our vision to create a company that gives back to the communities we live in
and around the globe. Donating a part of our revenue will help the encourage
others to give back, and know when they buy a piece of art, whether it s a hat, or a
glass pendant, they as helped out their communities or one in need. The vibe that I
would like to establish with the store is caring, welcoming and chill . A customer
experiences it the moment they walk in the front door. It shapes the way they
perceive the store, the products and the services. It defines their shopping
43. The Argument Of Elitism Vs. Pluralism
The question of who get s what, and how is the guiding concern presented in the
general argument of elitism vs. pluralism this week. The authors of the three key texts
seem to each take a varying approach to answering this question, with some offering
more extreme answers than others. On the most elitist extreme, Mills in The Power
Elite(1956) provides a strong argumentthat the decisions made in politicsare the direct
result of the actions of a highly selective group of individuals who do not have the
best interests of the mass public at heart. This elite is made up of (presumably) men
from the realms of business, military, and high level politics. Socio economic factors
such as income and social circle keep the elite in a position of power through their
cumulative advantage. The tight control over decisions and actions of importance
that this elite has is legitimized by their positions of legal, economic, and political
importance. Mill further argues that the decision making structures most viewers
would point to as the source of policy and political action are little more than mid
level actors competing over petty decisions. Their ability to debate minor issues is
unimpeded, though the elite ensures that there is no serious challenge to their
authority from this mid level. Further down on the power spectrum, Mill points to the
apolitical masses, who exert no real influence over the decision making system.
While a segment of this population may exert their right
44. How Drug Addiction Detoxification And Rehabilitation...
Drug addiction detoxification and rehabilitation requires time and many steps in
order for the affected person to succeed. Every addict is a fingerprint. The individual
biochemistry, social history and personality of the addict means that each person may
respond to different therapies to achieve success in recovery. Holistic therapies such
as nutrition, chiropractic, acupuncture, meditation, art and music therapy, horse
assisted therapy and neurofeedback training are being researched and employed in
various treatment facilities as an adjunct to the more traditional therapies such as
medical detox, individual counseling and behavioral therapies. Even hallucinogenic
drugs have been used safely and effectively as a short term intervention for
addictions. The use of these unique approaches allows more addicts an opportunity
for recovery, especially if they were previously unsuccessful with the more standard
therapies. Hallucinogens, such as LSD, ibogaine, peyote and ayahuasca, are
classified as Schedule I drugs with a high potential for abuse and no known medical
uses. However, there is evidence that they might be safe and effective for short term
treatments in addictiondetoxification and treatment. They have a larger safety margin
than the major addictive drugs with a low mortality rate and negligent physical
dependencepotential. Research suggests that their action on serotonin is relevant to
addiction treatment because these levels tend to be deficient in addict
45. A Sense of Belonging Comes from Having Connections
with...
A sense of belonging is an essential part of every individual s life. A sense of
belonging can be created from having connections with people and places within a
personal, cultural, historical and social context. The choice of where to belong and
who to belong with changes people s sense of belonging as time passes. The Poetryof
Peter Skrzynecki s Immigrant Chronicle and Carson McCullerss novel , The member
of the wedding demonstrates how a sense of belonging comes from having
connections with people and places.

groups we belong to and sometimes individuals are cast into groups to which they

Feliks Skrzynecki explores the relationship between the poet and his father, and their
contrasting experiences of belonging in a new land. The poem is written from the
poet s perspective of his father. In the first two stanzas he sees him from the
perspective of a loving son and builds up a positive and respectful image of his father.
The emotive word gentle suggests his fond attachment and admiration for his father
who has raised him. This admiration was not apparent in his youth as Skrzynecki
recognises that there were cultural barriers between them that hampered the father
son relationship. This poem explores Feliks s sense not fully belonging to Australia
and his son s growing detachment from their polish heritage. In many ways father and
son grow to become strangers to each other, with individual attitudes towards
belonging in an Australian context. As they share no common cultural background,
the connection and sense of belonging to each other is not complete. Peter does not
belong within the Polish culture, nor does he completely identify with Australian
culture when he was a young boy and adolescent. He experiences guilt and regret as
he cannot share his father s memories and enthusiasm for Poland. From a second
generation migrant perspective this poem provides evidence of an ambiguous stance
towards belonging that comes

Sweepers
William Blake s Inscription on the Young Chimney Sweepers

A key point in the history of mankind was the Industrial Revolution. It was also a
difficult time in history in terms of suffering, especially for the lower class that had
to work twice as hard as the upper class for minimum wage. A young poet by the
name of William Blake became livid and motivated in the late eighteenth century by
the coldhearted usage of young boys for chimney sweeping. As a result, he created a
demonstration in the arrangement of humble poetry Deeper knowledge of Blake
will reveal no darkly buried meaning, only a deeper sense in the meaning obvious to
all (Schulz, Max F, 7) . This is exactly the case in which Blake calls them The
Chimney Sweepers Blake uses practicality, rather than in depth imagery, to portray
the ruthless conditions of the Industrial Revolution.
Blake was encouraged to compose a poem about these young children and their
brutal lives for the public. The public was not commonly made aware of the abuse
but it was acknowledged that the young children were being mistreated through
their short lived years. Yet, history has lost sight of the disgusting conditions the
young boys encountered every day. For that reason, understanding with such
specifics does help the person who reads Blake s poem to see more clearly of Blake s
accusation towards humanity for allowing kids to be exposed to practically unlivable
47. Article Report On A Police Officer
Orlando W. Wilson and Roy C. McLaren wrote that Almost everything that a police
officer does must be reduced to writing . As a police officer you re largely
evaluated based on your written report skills. As an officer of the law you must be
able to do your job well, and within the extent of the law (Hess Orthmann, 2013).
Not only that but the officer must be able to correctly record information and
present it to those who were not there. 20 percent of an officer s time is spent
writing reports (Hess Orthmann, 2013). It s not just skilled investigating tactics
that brings a criminal to justice, it is also the ability of the investigator to written a
report that will withstand the scrutiny of judges, prosecutors, defense counsels,
and jurors. An officers report has the ability to determine whether or not the guilty
goes free. It s the job of the supervisor to decide if the investigating officer followed
the correct protocols and policies of the department. However, whether your report
is being read by your supervisor; lawyers, social workers, judges, citizens, or the
media, it should be easily comprehendible across the board. Most of the time, those
reading your report will not have been present at the scene. It is the job of the officer
to write a report that effectively communicate the who, what, where, when, and how
to a general audience. You should never speak down on your audience, or try to
make our report seem more professional by using difficult language.
48. A Youth Ministry Handbook By Kendra Creasy Dean
In OMG: A Youth Ministry Handbook, Kendra Creasy Dean goes over several
different ways on how to do youth ministry in today s world. Through reading this
book and evaluating Grace United Methodist Church, I have noticed several things
that need to be fixed. One of the main things is the youth group lesson focus and the
way the youth relate to one another. One of the things that I have learned from
reading Dean s book is that everything you do has to be tied back to the Bible. I have
always known that everything has to have a purpose when it involves youth. I know
that by working in a church you need to include the Bible in what you do, however, I
thought you could do things without it. For instance, I thought that we could teach...

One of the curriculums you could develop would be what is called Christ and culture.
You could help the youth understand what scripture says about specific elements in
culture. One way that it is done is through basing the scripture as the lesson and bring
in different elements of culture. Another way is with starting with the cultural
element and bringing in scripture. For example, my youth wanted to learn about the
Holocaust. That is an example of culture. So that was the culture element that we
based our whole curriculum around. From there we added in religious elements and
how society has done things similar with what the Nazis did. After that we added in
what scripture says about what is done. This takes in all elements of what Dean was
saying in this book. She writes that to engage students you have to teach them what
they are interested in and something that they can be involved with. Through this
study the youth have learned so much about how to treat people in the Christian mind
set as well, as that different religions should treat each other with respect no matter
how different they are. The second aspect that I learned from Dean was, the idea of
relationships. It is not only important that the youth form a buddy buddy relationship
but that they also form a spiritual relationship to one another. A lot of times youth
groups focus on
49. Montresor Unreliable Narrator
you love horror movies, scary movies or stories that have a real dark side, then you
will love Edgar Allan Poe s The Cask of Amontillado . The story is about revenge
and secret murder, and how revenge can be a real motivator to kill someone. It goes
to show, that you never know what s in the mind of even the nicest person. In the
beginning, I question the title, but found out that Cask means a barrel and
Amontillado is a Spanish wine. The narrator of this story was Montresor himself. I
would say he was an unreliable narrator, which is he tells a story in such a way that
we cannot trust what he is saying is actually true. Furthermore, our text tells us that
an unreliable narrator is the kind of narrator that is especially effective at... Show

You are rich, respected, admired, and beloved; you are happy, as I once was. You
are a man to be missed. For me it is no matter. We will go back, you will be ill, and I
cannot be responsible (p. 167). He played the role of a caring and compassionate
person especially well. I too would have had no idea that it was all a role he was
playing. All along he knew what he had in store for him. Even when Fortunate said
the cough is mere nothing: it will not kill me. Montresor replies true true (p.167),
but in reality he knew what he had in store for him. Furthermore, I observed a
touch of jealousy from Montresor about who Fortunato was. All that he said about
Fortunato s character could be the person he wanted to be. This jealousy just added
additional fire to the flames of his hatred. He makes it a point at the very beginning
of the story to tell us just how cunning he was, It must be understood that neither by
word nor deed had I given Fortunato cause to doubt my good will. I continued, as
was my wont, to smile in his face, and he did not perceive that my smile now was the
thought of his immolation

51. In Praise Of Not Knowing By Tim Kreker Summary
Are you at an age where you can remember a time before the internet, where you
would have to search through stacks of books or encyclopedias to find the
information that you want? Some of you may be thinking Yes, thank god for google!
and others may be thinking Oh, the horror! I can t imagine surviving without it! . But
there are the few that reminisce about the time when you couldn t find whatever
information you were looking for in a matter of minutes. Unlike many, Tim Kreider
looks back on the times before the internetwith fondness, and thinks that our easy
access to information has had some negative side effects. While Kreider raises some
interesting and valid points in his article, In Praise of Not Knowing there are still
some... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Once one question is finally answered it can raise more like you often see in
mystery novels. If someone got bored of something just because they learned the
explanation for it then that shows they were never really interested to begin with. If
someone is truly interested in a topic looking it up could not only answer some of
their questions it could make them like it even more and improve their interest in it.
In addition if someone is curious about something but wants to keep that curiosity to
maintain that. Just because everyone has access to the internet doesn t mean
everyone uses it.
The other issue with Kreider s argument is that it seems to promote ignorance. We ve
been taught that knowledge is power and the internet is all the knowledge people
have accumulated over the years. The fact that we have access to gives us the
ability to become better and smarter and improve ourselves. We can find many
helpful and important tips that could help you with life and other things you might
experience. If you re also unsure about something you were sharing with someone
you could confirm if you were actually correct or not and not just guess. If we didn t
have the internet and weren t able to access information everyone would be relying
on conjecture instead of actual facts. When people are interested in an event, time, or
person and talk about it with others, others might disagree on what actually happened
you can easily figure out what is true and what is not.

52. Boy Scouts Controversy
One major controversy in effect today is whether girls should be allowed to join
the Boy Scouts of America or should there be a distinct separation between the girls
and boys. In the article, Boy Scouts Face Renewed Push to Let Girls Join the Ranks
by David Crary, several girls across the nation have took it upon themselves to try
and join the Boy Scouts of America. Some believe that girls should be able to join in
order to gain the same scouting experience as the boys in the organization. Others
including myself, believe that if the girlscouts aren t happy with their scouting, they
should take the initiative to make a difference in their own community.
Today, the highest award a girl scout can achieve is a Gold Award, which is supposed
