European Crab Apple Tree Research Paper
European Crab Apple: The native Crab Apple is occasional in southern Illinois, yet uncommon
or absent in the central and northern sections of the state . Habitats include open woodlands,
savannas, and thickets. Crab Apple s can be found in both upland and bottomland areas where
other deciduous shrubs and trees are present, particularly where there has been some reduction
in the overhead canopy of dominant trees. The apple will fall from the tree and decompose on
the ground leaving the seed. The seed will work its way down into the soil below it. The seed
will need water to help it grow. Over time, the seed will grow into a plant which will eventually
grow into a tree! The apple tree will begin to produce blossoms. These blossoms will turn into...

Each medium green leaf is deeply cut with five pointed lobes. As the trade name suggests, the
foliage turns into an autumn blaze of orange red to scarlet red fall color. Flowers and fruit for
this hybrid are very sparse. Maple trees produce copious amounts of pollen, an essential
component of the continued existence of honey bees. The bees depend largely on this pollen. In
addition to supporting honey bees, maple trees also support pancake lovers across the continent.
The ratio of sap to syrup is rather surprising; sometimes, it can take up to 30 gallons of sap to
produce only 1 gallon of syrup. The sugary sap is also used to produce maple taffy, maple cream,
and maple sugar. The biggest issue for maples is spacing. Fortunately, these trees are not as picky
about sunlight and can successfully grow in both sunny and shady spots. Partial shade may be
preferable to full sun or full shade, however. They need a thorough soaking as soon as the soil
starts going dry. Fertilizer is not a necessity for maple trees. Applying a layer of compost as mulch
can add nutrients to the soil, but these maples are not particularly

Safepac Case Study
Introduction
Ok so in this paper I will be looking at the Simply Green Product brand and seeing what can be
done with their company as far as their patenting and packaging of their product SafePac. So there
is a lot of information that will be covered here. Also we have to look at the time frame that SGB
was using the SafePac logo, on their equipment. The other thing is that we have to look at the
trademark and the other laws that incorporate trademarks and patents. So listed below is the topics
that I would like to discuss briefly.
1.Deciding if SGP can register their product name as a trademark.
2.Would the Trademark Dilution Revision Act be violated if the USTPO granted the trademark on
SafePac?
3.Tell whether or not the anticyber squatting consumer protection act would be violated by the use
of SafePac.com

Because there is already a mark that is listed by the USPTO. This mark was first used in 2002
which is 6 years to the senior of SafePac, and SGP. Because of its seniority they have a claim to it
and it would add a little confusion if SGP would to market it. Because there would then be two
products out there with the same name, possibly cost some business for both companies. Here
there would be a minor hit on the Lanham act, which was put into place to protect legit business,
so that they can keep using their ideas, and investments. The reason why I say that is a minor hit is
because even not knowing that this was already in use they have a responsibility to the preexisting
company and name of their product. Even though there is no completion, and they are two separate
spectrums of services. Still the idea was first thought of by Safe Choice.

Conflict In The Kite Runner
Middle Eastern Literature
The way of life in Afghanistan is very different from life in America. The conflicts,
transformations, and aspects of human condition from the excerpts of The Kite Runner as well as
the articles and poems discussed in class provide a deeper understanding of what life is really like
in the Middle East.
A conflict in literature is defined as any struggle between two opposing forces. The Kite Runner
is filled with both internal and external conflicts that gives the reader insight into the main
character, Amir s, life and thought processes. The first prevalent internal conflict is Amir s
mother s death during his birth and his battle with the way [he] ached for the mother [he] had
never met. This ache affected him psychologically as he struggled to cope with her loss his
whole life, well as affected the relationship he has with his father, who he calls Baba. The second
internal conflict is that Amir feels like he cannot relate to Baba and that he and his father are very
different minded people. The first example of Amir feeling unconnected from Baba is when he
was young and Baba would shut him out of the smoking room during grown ups time and Amir
would sit there for an hour, sometimes two, listening to their laughter, their chatter. This lead Amir
to wonder why it was always grown ups time with him. The first time we see that these two are
different minded is when the bus is stopped at the checkpoint in Mahipar and the Russian soldier

Project Water Level Indicator With Automatic Water Pump...
Water is the most important issue in our day to day life. But it is very pathetic when the owner of
the house faced that the water tank be empty without any alarming. The project is to design water
level indicator with automatic water pump controlling system. water level sensor is been made for
sensing water level accurately. Microcontroller is used to control the overall system automatically
that reduces the design and control complexity. Microcontroller takes input from the sensor unit
which senses the water level. After processing input variables, resultant output decides the water
pumps action (on/off) with respect to current water status of the tank. A display unit indicates the
status of pump and water level. The device also monitor the state of level of water whether it is
stable, increasing or decreasing with what velocity. It also stores the total time of pump being kept
ON. It also keep monitoring whether the pumping is working well or not. While Keeping the
motor ON it detects whether the motor pump is working well or not every minutes. If the level is
increasing or decreasing in each minutes then the indicator shows the motor pump is working well
else after three minutes if the level remains stable then it shows there is a problem in motor. Thus it
also monitor the working performance of the pump Introduction

Essay On Eco Friendly Cars
Eco Friendly/Green Technology:
Consumers are becoming more interested in environmentally products and practices due to global
warming and other environmental hazards.
Today s electric vehicles offer several advantages over gas powered cars. Some of these advantages
include, better gas mileage, less dependance on foreign oil, reduced exhaust emissions, and saves
customers money.
One of the main benefits of eco friendly cars is the improved gas mileage. Improved gas mileage
not only means not having to fill up as often, but it means that drivers can travel farther distances
on a single tank of fuel (gengreen.org, 2013).
Additionally, when eco friendly cars require much less fuel to power them across equal distances,
this means that the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The History Of The Internet

bunch of rabble The first concepts of the Internet were invented in the 1960 s who saw much use
in allowing computers to share information. It was mainly used for scientific and military
purposes, research, development, and sorts. J.C.R. Licklider of MIT first suggested the idea of a
global network of computers in 1962. He moved to the Defense Advanced Research Projects
Agency to develop the Internet. A while later, the Internet was brought online in 1969, but was
previously known as ARPANET. It was done under contract with the renamed Advanced
Research Projects Agency. At first, It connected four major computers, which were located in
different universities. The mystical Internet was designed to provide a communications network
that would still function even if some dominant sites were down. The early Internet was used by
computer experts, engineers, scientists, and librarians. There were no personal computers back
in the day, and everyone who used it had to learn an extremely complex system. Two scores and
three years ago, (1972) Email was adapted by Ray Tomlinson. He selected the @ symbol from the

Causes And Effects Of Hurricane Katrina
Natural disasters seem to be occurring more frequently and are causing groundbreaking amounts
damage worldwide, the worst natural disaster in history remains a huge 1931 flood in China that
killed over three million people. Three million people from a storm. Another natural disaster that
happened in a modern world was hurricane Katrina. Endless lessons can be learnt from this disaster
especially when you have technological tools to prepare your citizens. (Barton, 2008. p123). On
August 29, 2005 when hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast of the United States, nearly every
trained meteorologist, public official in the country had underestimated its absolute power. In a
wired, fully modern American city over,1800 hundreds of people died in this catastrophe. The total
financial cost of Katrina, from repair construction damage to homes, businesses, to financing both
rental housing for victims and infrastructure repairs, reached 150 billion dollars. The human cost
was much greater. (Barton, 2008.p 124). On the evening of August 27, 2005, New Orleans mayor
Ray Naginspoke with Mayfield, the director of the National Hurricane Center. Mayfield suggested
to evacuate the city. Nagin was concerned about if he would order the public to evacuate and
Katrina would move offshore, the city could be sued by businesses for any unnecessary loss of
commerce they might experience. Additionally, by this fear and his concern was that New Orleans

Crime And The Quality Of Life
Introduction
For better or worse, there is a link between crime and society. Society is strongly affected by
crime due to the cost and the decline in the quality of life that citizens face as a result of criminal
activity. Since there is a relationship associated with crime and the quality of life, then reducing
crime is one of the top priorities of a police department. However, reducing crime is a major
challenge for any police department around the world. Staffing shortages are one of the biggest
challenges facing police departments while attempting to reduce crime. Many agencies across the
United States are having trouble recruiting new police officers and keeping experienced, seasoned
officers on the police force. Staffing shortages are due to low pay, a cut in benefits, and the
national anti police sentiment being broadcasted across many news organizations daily. The
Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) in 2015 publicly released that there was an average of 2.3
officers per 1,000 inhabitants within cities that had more than 10,000 residents (The Federal Bureau
of Investigation s 2015). An average of 2.3 officers per 1,000 residents is not enough to deter or
prevent crime. In a preliminary report for 2015 crime stats, the FBI noted, there is an overall
increase in violent crimes. Based on data provided by 12,879 law enforcement agencies throughout
the United States, murders have increased 6.2 percent and aggravated assaults have increased 2.3
percent since

Analysis Of Who Moved My Cheese By Spencer Johnson
Who Moved My Cheese , by Spencer Johnson, is a short story that is focused around change and
adaptation. Spencer Foster includes four characters, two mice, Sniff and Scurry, and two little
people named Hem and Haw. Johnson was a physician and psychologist, who wrote books such
as Who Moved My Cheese , One Minute Manager , and The Guide To Better Decisions . Who

Hem and Haw refuse to move, and end up going hungry waiting for more cheese to come back to
the original location. Hem finally moves on and discovers the location of a great cheese stash
along with his friends Sniff and Scurry. The book never fully reveals whether or not Hem makes
it out of cheese station C, but it exhibits how it is possible to discover better opportunities that
come with change through the actions of Haw. The short story Who Moved My Cheese, is a
popular novel incorporated into many businesses to assist in training employees. Fred Nickols
wrote an article discussing how he views the book, and the overall message concerning the
purpose of the book. He states that the main point of the book is to make life simpler than it
really is . Nickols expresses his distaste for the book, and his reluctance to buy it . The writing
suggests that Nickols is taking the book s plot too far on the realism scale, and not considering
the real message of the text. The book is meant to inspire people to be resilient from hardship,
and adapt to change, it s not read for the story of the characters. I find the message of adaptability
with change to be warranted, whereas Nickos thinks the book is a get on board or else message.
It seems like he is unnecessarily mad at the book for no reason. The general feeling this article
imposes upon the reader of, is somewhat like he is upset with a fiction story for being unrealistic.
He claims that the book s value is

Monotheistic Religion Essay
Religion is something that basically everyone has in common. In all corners of the world and in
all eras of history, humans have wondered about the origins of the world, the purpose of life, what
it means to be human and live life, and what happens after death. What is a monotheistic religion?
This one word is defined as believing in the existence of one god or in the oneness of God.
Monotheism shows the traditions of BГЎbism, Cao Dai (Caodaism), Cheondoism (Cheondogyo),
Christianity, Deism, Islam, Judaism, all believing in just one God. In our society you can voice
your concerns, opinions and state your beliefs as to which religion you need to or want to serve.
Religion is the confidence in and love of a superhuman controlling power, considerably a personal
God. Some may consider it to be an arrangement of confidence and love. Religion adds the reason
to the lives of many supporters, allowing them an energy about the previous life, a comprehension
of the present right then and there, and seek after what s to come in the future. Religions have,
images, and respected histories that intend to clarify the importance of life, the beginning of life, or
the inter world. Numerous religions have sorted out practices, special holidays, sacred spots, and
sacred texts. Any and all religions incorporate ceremonies, sermons, celebrations, feasts, funerals,
weddings, music, craftsmanship, move, open administration, or different parts of human society.

Peter Unger I Do Not Exist
Peter Unger, in his essay I do not Exist, presented the position of self non existence and complete
non existence,e.g, nothing exists. This move is based on the idea that things are made of atoms,
specifically that things are composed of finite numbers of atoms, and therefore the removal of even
one atom would, therefore, change the existential status of the thing in question; however, it must
be said his argument does not necessarily rely on atoms specifically it is merely convenient that
science has allowed an easy explanation of the theory. All of these moves are intrinsically solid
points of contention to the non existenceof things, he even goes so far as to call metaphysical
attempts of explanation miracles, because it involves changing the structure of the logic used to
conclude this non existence. I, however, am going to take a reductionist and common sense
approach and use only the logic given by Peter Unger to show that his proofs do not necessarily
invalidate his own existence nor do his proofs invalidate the existence of an object whose existence
is being questioned. To do this I must rely on no metaphysical miracles to save my explanations, but
instead I must show the nature of losing small amounts of atoms is irrelevant to my existence....

To begin we must show what Peter Unger s logical statements were: (1) I exist (2) If I exist, then
I consist of many cells (atoms), but a finite number (3) If I exist (and consist of many cells, but a
finite number), then the net removal of one cell, or only a few, in a way which is most innocuous
and favorable, will not mean the difference as to whether I

After months at the labor camp, Hannah takes the place of her new friend, Rivka, in her way into

In The Devil s Arithmetic Hannah experiences this first hand, because while at first she can
remember where she was really from her memories started to fade. When she at last could not
remember anything about her true identity she became very frightened and did not understand what
was happening (The Devil s Arithmetic 100). Hannah experiences the same fear her relatives had
felt when they went through the Holocaust. It is then she realizes the importance of remembering
your past because she had never really realized the suffering they had gone through. This gave her
more respect for what her relatives went through than ever before. Through Hannah s confusion and
horror Yolen conveys the theme that it is important to remember the past. In Mapping the Bones
Yolen expresses the same theme, but through Gittel s remembrance of what happened to her during
the Holocaust. In the present, Gittel says that she has, five adopted children, all orphans of other
wars. (Mapping the Bones 411). Because she refuses to forget what happened in her past she
applied what she learned into her present day life. By remembering, she helped five other children

Solutions to Global Warming Essay
Climatic warming, or what some call global warming, began thousands of years ago. This climatic
warming occurs because of natural climate cycles that the earth has to go through in order to have
a stable climate condition. Global heating and global cooling are nothing new today. There were
Ice Ages when most of the world was covered in glaciers and hot steamy times that allowed
animals that now live in the tropics to live in almost any continent known today. A major change in
climatic warming began at the beginning of the Industrialization Era since then people have been
adding extra carbon dioxideto the atmosphere. (http://online.nwf.org/site/PageNavigator

The green house effect happens when the gases in our atmosphere, such as methane, carbon
dioxide, and water vapor, trap the heat they re emit the heat back to earth making it hotter. As a
result of the massive burning of fossil fuels the more and more gases that get trapped in our
atmosphere the heat that is retained here on earth is becoming grater and grater leaving us with
hotter temperatures. While some green house effect is necessary to keep our earth warm, the
exaggerated burning of fossil fuels and their exhaust gases being released into the atmosphere the
green house effect has been turned into one of the main causes of global warming. The causes of
green house effect have great impacts on our climate and on other aspects. The green house effect
is the main reason why icebergs are disappearing and the sea levels are rising. As a result of the
sea level rise the currents can be altered due the mixing of fresh water, that the iceberg is made of,
and salt water leading to desalinization that can change the earth s climate.
The signs that climate warming has been changing our climate and surroundings are more
evident today than they were years before. The Portage Glacier, one of Alaska s most famous
glaciers, has greatly decreased in size. Since 1950 up to 2002 the glacier s mass has decreased do
much that it is nearly out of sight.

individual grows up, has substantial effects on the kind of personthey become later in life. It has
even been argued, that the functional birth order, which is affected by the environment one grows

biological birth order (Sulloway, 1996). Courtiol, Raymond and Faurie (2009) investigated the
significance of birth order on trustfulness and reciprocation of individuals, with their hypothesis

experiment speak for themselves, as they indicate that a distinct trend can be seen in the
characteristics of people depending on their birth order. According to Sulloway, it has been argued
that the characteristicdifferences the birth order forms, are the consequences of sibling competition

The Harsh And Cold War At Valley Forge Analysis
The Harsh and Cold War at Valley Forge
The freezing air is blowing as I lay in bed listening to the soldiers moan struggling to survive in this
harsh war. There are many bitter conditions here at Valley Forge. There is a big risk staying here as
we struggle to stay alive. My hut is filled with smoke and is surrounded by the cold snow. We have
huts that are a few feet long and have a small fireplace on one side and a door on the other. The
food here is horrible and barely keeps us alive. We get a small piece of meat each day and a little bit
of cornmeal. I have decided to re enlist for 3 reasons which are that I need to fight for a cause, to
help the sick and dying army, and to get my family and aging mother into a free country.

Female Full Time Workers Made Only 79 Cents For Every Dollar
In 2014, female full time workers made only 79 cents for every dollar earned by men, a gender

for which there is sufficient earnings data for both men and women to calculate an earnings ratio

In many occupations, even if women do obtain the requirements and more of what is expected
of a certain job title, and a man does not, the man gets chosen over the woman. Unfortunately,
this is currently happening within my workplace. Even though many women have the exact
requirements and more to get promoted, because there are very little men in my workplace, they
have always gotten the promotion over the women, while having less of what is required by
them. Although they are not getting compensated with more money, they are given the
opportunity for more responsibility and more work hours which gives them time to accumulate
that extra money. When questioned about this particular issue, the requirements not being met,

CRISPR Pathway Analysis
The process in which the CRISPR pathway works contains a few steps that, after assembly of
the RNA and nuclease complex, will occur naturally in the cell. From this point forward, the
RNA sequence that is engineered to bind specifically to a target sequence will be referred to as
guide RNA (gRNA). The assembly of the gRNA and Cas9 endonuclease complex binds to the
target gene sequence and cleaves at a point just downstream of the protospacer adjacent motif
(PAM; Figure 1; Chang et al., 2013) The PAM is simply a sequence recognized by the Cas9 as
non self to allow for cleavage by the endonuclease (Chang et al., 2013). If this were not present, the
bacteriophage sequences incorporated into the host bacterial DNAinitially, would be targeted by
the bacteria s CRISPR system for cleavage.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These breaks are then repaired by the cell in one of two manners: either utilizing non homologous
end joining or homologous recombination directed repair (Figure 2; Hsu et al., 2014). Non
homologous end joining will cause the two ends of the break to join together without the presence
of the cleaved portion of DNA between them, resulting in a frame shift mutation (Hsu et al., 2014).
A frame shift mutation can be equated to reading a paragraph in a book with a sentence or two
missing. The appropriate proteins will no longer be synthesized for that gene, resulting in
inactivation, or what is referred to as knockout of a gene (Hsu et al., 2014). The second repair
mechanism utilizes homologous recombination, during which the section that was broken can
exchange DNA with a homologous section within the cell to replace the cleaved sequence (Hsu et
al., 2014). This is helpful in genomic manipulation and potential repair of mutations, that otherwise
would have led to

What do you see as the most serious problem in the first decade of the 1900s? In the first decade of
the 1900s, I think the most serious problem was the high levels of poverty among the American
people (Barnes Bowles, 2014). Though there was racial, discrimination that time, it is evident that
the Americans discriminated each other in through the industrial capitalist power. Why was this
problem more serious than the other problems? The working conditions that time were extreme.
The working environments were unsafe; on the other hand, they were unsanitary ones. More often,
they created incidents that raised the public concerns (Barnes Bowles, 2014). Employers hired

History of the French New Wave
In 1959 early 1960 five directors released debut feature length films that are widely regarded as
heralding the start of the French nouvelle vague or French New Wave. Claude Chabrols Le Beau
Serge (The Good Serge, 1959) and Les Cousins (The Cousins, 1959) were released, along with
Francois Truffauts Les Quatre cents coups (The 400 Blows, 1959), Jean Luc Godards A bout de
souffle (Breathless, 1960) and Alain Resnais Hiroshima mon amour (Hiroshima my love, 1959).
These films were the beginning of a revolution in French cinema. In the following years these
directors were to follow up their debuts, while other young directors made their first features, in

William James Philosophies Coinciding with Today s Psychology
An admitted Moral Psychologist , James s philosophies coincide with today s fields of Humanistic
Psychology, Behavioral Psychology, and Transpersonal Psychology.
He, like Jung, dared to look outside the normal experiences of the mind and expand the concepts of
consciousness. More particularly, William James attempted to describe the processes of the
conscious rather than the definition of the conscious. He was the first to introduce our nation to
psychology as a standard educational course and the founder of pragmatism which emphasizes the
elimination of unnecessary thinking and finding truth only if it is practically applicable.

The rationale of choice involves two levels of knowing knowledge of acquaintance (an intuitive,
sensory knowing) and knowledge about (intellectual, evaluative and factual knowing). James
was particularly interested in the habits of learning. He believed strongly that successful
education was dependent upon the establishment of healthy habits. Stages involved in
establishing good personal habits include: 1) a need or desire 2) information 3) repetition. Of
course will is essential in establishing good habits (or breaking bad habits) so the training and
strengthening of will were of major concern for James. He proposed that individuals accomplish
this by practicing a useless task daily in order to train and proof themselves capable of willing
themselves into any activity. Desired habits can be established with repetition. He does however
recognize the occasional need to surrender the will and allow events to occur naturally. This, he
believes, may induce a state of complete unification, or total oneness of self, and may require or
lead to a transcendent state of mind. Self is defined by James as the place from which all our
mental processes originate and through which all our experiences are perceived. The layers of
self include the Material Self (the part of us that defines and identifies ourselves via material
goods and relationships), the Social Self (similar to Jung s persona, is the self we play in social
encounters) and the

The Physical And Spiritual Restoration Essay
The book of Nehemiah is about the physical and spiritual restoration in Jerusalem. Nehemiah is
viewed as one of the great leaders in the Old Testament. He led a group of Jews to rebuild the walls
in Jerusalem. He shows his leadership through his prayers, sensitivity, boldness, and many other
characteristics.
In his prayers, Nehemiah shared his burden and responsibility with God whenever he was faced
with trouble, and in the end God answered his prayers. Nehemiah 4:4 Hear us, our God, for we
are despised. Turn their insults back on their own heads. Give them over as plunder in a land of
captivity. Prayer is a way that a godly leader allows God to strengthen him and guide his steps. A
godly leader looks and relies on God for strength and direction. In Nehemiah 1:5 11 His heart for
the city led him to pray to God in confession, praise, and for others. Then I said: Lord, the God of
heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him
and keep his commandments, let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer

The Theme Of Coming Of Age In F. Scott Fitzgerald s This...
In his novel This Side of Paradise (1920), F. Scott Fitzgerald presents a powerful and compelling
portrait of a young man coming of age during the First World War and its immediate aftermath.
Taking its title from the poem Taire Tahiti by Rupert Brooke, which itself is a meditation upon the
gap between ideal forms of heavenly loveand real forms of earthly love, This Side of Paradise
focuses on how the expectations of the novel s protagonist for himself and for his society do not
often match up with the possibilities available to him from his surrounding environment.
Ultimately, the novel presents an image of the decline of nineteenth century modernity during the
crucial transition period between the two World Wars and the massive changes such decline
wreaked at the time upon the relationship between romantic love and personal wealth. Nowhere
does the tension between romantic love and personal wealth show up more clearly over the course

Our inclination stems from our need to fulfill that wonder, and in fact becomes much more of an
important subject because of the growing need for instant gratification. He does call into
question whether or not the definition of philosophy is the same as that of past philosophers. He
is point of whether ...there (is) still time for leisure and for leisurely speculation about the
insoluble questions... (139) does resonate more now than when written in 1979. It s amazing to
see how well he predicted our growing dependency on technology when not much was to be

The Influence Of Political Socialization
Growing up, our views on politics and the government were always one sided because of the
fact, that we didn t understand much about any political situation but just hear what our parents
or family members had to say and agree with it. As we got older we started to develop and
interest for politics and become more active in it as it will later shape our futures. This process,
in which we form ideas about politics is what we call, political socialization. Given a quiz before
hand, we were tested on out political socialization to be shown what our views lean towards. Our
group was tested to see where they thought they stood on a scale labeling us to either be more
liberal or more conservative. Later during the quiz, we were given specific questions that would

answering the questions truthfully. Our group will compare and contrast each other s personal
results from taking the quiz and also talk about the publics placement. Knowing that we all live a

views towards our politics and government. With attention to, political socialization is mainly
shaped during our childhood, people continue to shape their political views throughout their lives.

During his first start of the month on Sept. 6 and in the midst of a tough road trip, Tomlinson was
responsible for the knock that prevented the Giants from being swept by the Colorado Rockies.
Although he was 1 3 in the game, Tomlinson made contact when it mattered most, in the ninth
inning. Tied 2 2 going into the top of the ninth, Tomlinson singled in Buster Posey from third base
to break the tie and drive in the game winning run for San Francisco.... Show more content on

Secondhand Smoking Persuasive Speech
It is a widely accepted fact that secondhand smoking is hazardous, and we have no real solutions.
Luckily, I have an idea to help solve this problem, but first I would like to go over some of the
effects of secondhand smoking. First is that secondhand smoking can cause lung cancer. Second is
that it can cause severe heart disease. Finally, third secondhand smokingis fatal to children. Now
that I have told you some of the dangerous effects I feel ready to share my idea. I, would like to
propose that the state of Utah pass a law requiring public areas such as parks or zoos to have
designated smoking areas so that the risk of secondhand smoking is greatly decreased. I believe
that if you pass this law, it will make a difference.
To begin with, I feel that making designated smoking areas in most public areas would be a good
idea because secondhand smoking greatly increases the chance of lung cancer. Cancer Research UK
says Passive smoking can increase a nonsmoker s risk of getting lung cancer by a quarter . This
means that secondhand smoking has a twenty five percent chance of ... Show more content on

It has a lot of stereotyping for example, having graffiti on the walls and that drugs are dealt on
the premises. Also it showed that the school had certain types of groups and portrayed that the
school had fights and that they happen very often. In some case the black American and other
minority groups like the Hispanics were the one getting into fight. At the beginning of the clip, a
school bell is ringing; this sets the atmosphere and allows the audience to know that the film is
based in a school. The music played throughout the scenes is a rock/rap song that is fast beat one
such song was Guns and Roses welcome to the jungle, this song give them impression that the
school was no longer serving the purpose for which it was established. The lighting of most of
the clips is low lighting. This creates an inquiry mind kind of atmosphere and could represent that
what is going to happen is not going to be a good aftermath. For example when the two boys are
seen throwing objects out of the window it is brighter than other scenes and that shows the boys

  • 2. European Crab Apple Tree Research Paper European Crab Apple: The native Crab Apple is occasional in southern Illinois, yet uncommon or absent in the central and northern sections of the state . Habitats include open woodlands, savannas, and thickets. Crab Apple s can be found in both upland and bottomland areas where other deciduous shrubs and trees are present, particularly where there has been some reduction in the overhead canopy of dominant trees. The apple will fall from the tree and decompose on the ground leaving the seed. The seed will work its way down into the soil below it. The seed will need water to help it grow. Over time, the seed will grow into a plant which will eventually grow into a tree! The apple tree will begin to produce blossoms. These blossoms will turn into... Maple trees produce copious amounts of pollen, an essential component of the continued existence of honey bees. The bees depend largely on this pollen. In addition to supporting honey bees, maple trees also support pancake lovers across the continent. The ratio of sap to syrup is rather surprising; sometimes, it can take up to 30 gallons of sap to produce only 1 gallon of syrup. The sugary sap is also used to produce maple taffy, maple cream, and maple sugar. The biggest issue for maples is spacing. Fortunately, these trees are not as picky about sunlight and can successfully grow in both sunny and shady spots. Partial shade may be preferable to full sun or full shade, however. They need a thorough soaking as soon as the soil starts going dry. Fertilizer is not a necessity for maple trees. Applying a layer of compost as mulch can add nutrients to the soil, but these maples are not particularly ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Safepac Case Study Introduction Ok so in this paper I will be looking at the Simply Green Product brand and seeing what can be done with their company as far as their patenting and packaging of their product SafePac. So there is a lot of information that will be covered here. Also we have to look at the time frame that SGB was using the SafePac logo, on their equipment. The other thing is that we have to look at the trademark and the other laws that incorporate trademarks and patents. So listed below is the topics that I would like to discuss briefly. 1.Deciding if SGP can register their product name as a trademark. 2.Would the Trademark Dilution Revision Act be violated if the USTPO granted the trademark on SafePac? 3.Tell whether or not the anticyber squatting consumer protection act would be violated by the use of SafePac.com 4.Tell how your resolution ... Because of its seniority they have a claim to it and it would add a little confusion if SGP would to market it. Because there would then be two products out there with the same name, possibly cost some business for both companies. Here there would be a minor hit on the Lanham act, which was put into place to protect legit business, so that they can keep using their ideas, and investments. The reason why I say that is a minor hit is because even not knowing that this was already in use they have a responsibility to the preexisting company and name of their product. Even though there is no completion, and they are two separate spectrums of services. Still the idea was first thought of by Safe Choice. The conflicts, transformations, and aspects of human condition from the excerpts of The Kite Runner as well as the articles and poems discussed in class provide a deeper understanding of what life is really like in the Middle East. A conflict in literature is defined as any struggle between two opposing forces. The Kite Runner is filled with both internal and external conflicts that gives the reader insight into the main character, Amir s, life and thought processes. The first prevalent internal conflict is Amir s mother s death during his birth and his battle with the way [he] ached for the mother [he] had never met. This ache affected him psychologically as he struggled to cope with her loss his whole life, well as affected the relationship he has with his father, who he calls Baba. The second internal conflict is that Amir feels like he cannot relate to Baba and that he and his father are very different minded people. The first example of Amir feeling unconnected from Baba is when he was young and Baba would shut him out of the smoking room during grown ups time and Amir would sit there for an hour, sometimes two, listening to their laughter, their chatter. This lead Amir to wonder why it was always grown ups time with him. The first time we see that these two are different minded is when the bus is stopped at the checkpoint in Mahipar and the Russian soldier wants ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Project Water Level Indicator With Automatic Water Pump... Water is the most important issue in our day to day life. But it is very pathetic when the owner of the house faced that the water tank be empty without any alarming. The project is to design water level indicator with automatic water pump controlling system. water level sensor is been made for sensing water level accurately. Microcontroller is used to control the overall system automatically that reduces the design and control complexity. Microcontroller takes input from the sensor unit which senses the water level. After processing input variables, resultant output decides the water pumps action (on/off) with respect to current water status of the tank. A display unit indicates the status of pump and water level. The device also monitor the state of level of water whether it is stable, increasing or decreasing with what velocity. It also stores the total time of pump being kept ON. It also keep monitoring whether the pumping is working well or not. While Keeping the motor ON it detects whether the motor pump is working well or not every minutes. If the level is increasing or decreasing in each minutes then the indicator shows the motor pump is working well else after three minutes if the level remains stable then it shows there is a problem in motor. After a bunch of rabble The first concepts of the Internet were invented in the 1960 s who saw much use in allowing computers to share information. It was mainly used for scientific and military purposes, research, development, and sorts. J.C.R. Licklider of MIT first suggested the idea of a global network of computers in 1962. He moved to the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency to develop the Internet. A while later, the Internet was brought online in 1969, but was previously known as ARPANET. It was done under contract with the renamed Advanced Research Projects Agency. At first, It connected four major computers, which were located in different universities. The mystical Internet was designed to provide a communications network that would still function even if some dominant sites were down. The early Internet was used by computer experts, engineers, scientists, and librarians. There were no personal computers back in the day, and everyone who used it had to learn an extremely complex system. Two scores and three years ago, (1972) Email was adapted by Ray Tomlinson. • 12. Crime And The Quality Of Life Introduction For better or worse, there is a link between crime and society. Society is strongly affected by crime due to the cost and the decline in the quality of life that citizens face as a result of criminal activity. Since there is a relationship associated with crime and the quality of life, then reducing crime is one of the top priorities of a police department. However, reducing crime is a major challenge for any police department around the world. Staffing shortages are one of the biggest challenges facing police departments while attempting to reduce crime. Many agencies across the United States are having trouble recruiting new police officers and keeping experienced, seasoned officers on the police force. Staffing shortages are due to low pay, a cut in benefits, and the national anti police sentiment being broadcasted across many news organizations daily. The Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) in 2015 publicly released that there was an average of 2.3 officers per 1,000 inhabitants within cities that had more than 10,000 residents (The Federal Bureau of Investigation s 2015). An average of 2.3 officers per 1,000 residents is not enough to deter or prevent crime. In a preliminary report for 2015 crime stats, the FBI noted, there is an overall increase in violent crimes. • 15. Peter Unger I Do Not Exist Peter Unger, in his essay I do not Exist, presented the position of self non existence and complete non existence,e.g, nothing exists. This move is based on the idea that things are made of atoms, specifically that things are composed of finite numbers of atoms, and therefore the removal of even one atom would, therefore, change the existential status of the thing in question; however, it must be said his argument does not necessarily rely on atoms specifically it is merely convenient that science has allowed an easy explanation of the theory. All of these moves are intrinsically solid points of contention to the non existenceof things, he even goes so far as to call metaphysical attempts of explanation miracles, because it involves changing the structure of the logic used to conclude this non existence. I, however, am going to take a reductionist and common sense approach and use only the logic given by Peter Unger to show that his proofs do not necessarily invalidate his own existence nor do his proofs invalidate the existence of an object whose existence is being questioned. To do this I must rely on no metaphysical miracles to save my explanations, but instead I must show the nature of losing small amounts of atoms is irrelevant to my existence.... Hannah experiences the same fear her relatives had felt when they went through the Holocaust. It is then she realizes the importance of remembering your past because she had never really realized the suffering they had gone through. This gave her more respect for what her relatives went through than ever before. Through Hannah s confusion and horror Yolen conveys the theme that it is important to remember the past. In Mapping the Bones Yolen expresses the same theme, but through Gittel s remembrance of what happened to her during the Holocaust. In the present, Gittel says that she has, five adopted children, all orphans of other wars. (Mapping the Bones 411). • 22. The Importance Of Birth Order Have you ever wondered why siblings tend to have such contrasting personalities? This essay will argue that the birth order affects the kind of person one becomes in various ways, by shaping them to acquire specific characteristics and prospects that will remain through adulthood. Particular attention will be given to the significance of family and environment, the ways that birth order affects the levels of trustfulness, reciprocation and extraversion and finally how it influences the likelihood of making or supporting new innovations in science. The family environment in which an individual grows up, has substantial effects on the kind of personthey become later in life. It has even been argued, that the functional birth order, which is affected by the environment one grows up in, plays a bigger role in moulding them into the people that they become later in life than the biological birth order (Sulloway, 1996). Courtiol, Raymond and Faurie (2009) investigated the significance of birth order on trustfulness and reciprocation of individuals, with their hypothesis being that birth order would influence adults behaviour towards non kin. The results of the experiment speak for themselves, as they indicate that a distinct trend can be seen in the characteristics of people depending on their birth order. The assembly of the gRNA and Cas9 endonuclease complex binds to the target gene sequence and cleaves at a point just downstream of the protospacer adjacent motif (PAM; Figure 1; Chang et al., 2013) The PAM is simply a sequence recognized by the Cas9 as non self to allow for cleavage by the endonuclease (Chang et al., 2013). A frame shift mutation can be equated to reading a paragraph in a book with a sentence or two missing. The appropriate proteins will no longer be synthesized for that gene, resulting in inactivation, or what is referred to as knockout of a gene (Hsu et al., 2014). The second repair mechanism utilizes homologous recombination, during which the section that was broken can exchange DNA with a homologous section within the cell to replace the cleaved sequence (Hsu et al., 2014). Stages involved in establishing good personal habits include: 1) a need or desire 2) information 3) repetition. Of course will is essential in establishing good habits (or breaking bad habits) so the training and strengthening of will were of major concern for James. He proposed that individuals accomplish this by practicing a useless task daily in order to train and proof themselves capable of willing themselves into any activity.
