Overview of case study
I was the counselor for Sean, a gay man that is experiencing high anxiety and hopelessness. Sean
recently moved to the area and his support system is lacking. When Sean came out to his parents
three months ago, his parents were not receptive. His father offered to pray for him and said Sean
would have to find somewhere else to live unless he wants to change being gay. His father is a
high profile political figure that recently pushed anti LGBTQ legislation in a different state. Sean s
relationship with his parents has been strained since he came out to them, and he really only speaks
to them when he needs money.

Many times the counselor is the one person in the client s life that does not offer judgement and
gives them the space to think through the issues affecting them, and the counselor can help in
creating a bigger picture with the connections between the emotional, psychological, and physical
problems affecting their functioning. To gain a better understanding of the connections a counselor
can ask questions and present challenges, and this experience confirmed that I still struggle with my
confidence in that area. Something that I believe will strengthen my ability in this aspect is to
consider my intention behind it and know that the client can handle my questions and challenges,
and that I do not have that much power in the room. The client does not need my protection in the
room, and my protection can make the situation worse for them. The biggest element of this
experimental project was the reconfirmation of we are all humans and just want to be treated with
respect. We all have different experiences and identities that have formed who we are, and that does
not mean that we need to treat each other differently. Instead just be a fellow human being that is
there to listen, provide respect and support, and empower them to find that support both in
themselves and in outside relationships so they will no longer need our

The Main Disagreements Between the Conservative, Labour...
The Main Disagreements Between the Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat Parties
The three main parties in UK politics, Labour, Conservatives and Liberal Democrats, are all based
on greatly differing ideologies which can often lead to them having varying viewpoints on key
issues. These differences can often lead to conflicts or disagreements between the parties over
which policy will be most beneficial to the country.
A particularly controversial and fiercely contested issue is the role of the United Kingdom in the
future of the European Union. The Labour party are often considered to be pro Europe although
their policies do tend to keep Britain s interests at heart. Their priorities for Europe ... Show more

Like Labour, Liberals argue that the EU must be enlarged to guarantee its future survival although,
unlike Labour, they do feel that EU institutions must be made more efficient.
Another controversial political issue is that of constitutional reform. The Liberal Democrat and
Labour policies in this area are very similar in the way that they both believe in devolution of
power away from Westminster through regional assemblies. Both parties feel that many of the
current political systems are outdated and must be modernised if political participation is to
rise. The parties do differ however, on taxes. Labour have always strived to keep taxes as low as
possible whilst attempting to strike a balance with good public services. The Liberal Democrats
feel this can only be achieved if taxes are raised, therefore making the public pay for the
improvements. As with the EU, Conservatives have greatly differing policies from the other two
parties. They believe in the preservation of national sovereignty and traditional political methods.
They are strongly opposed to the devolution proposed by the other parties and this even extends to
Northern Ireland, which the Conservatives believe should be ruled from London.
The whole issue of the welfare state and how much the state should provide for its people has been
argued over

Better Off Friends Character Analysis
Imagine moving from Los Angeles, California to a small town in Wisconsin and not knowing
anyone at the new school. Anyone in this situation would want to make friends that would accept
them in the new town. This is the position Levi, one of the main characters in Elizabeth Eulberg s
Better off Friends, is in when he starts middle school. Macallan, the other main character, is the
person that befriends Levi, and they become very close very fast. Being a new kid from down
south, many people stereotypeLevi because of how he looks and the way he acts, which was
normal in Los Angeles where he used to live, but odd to the people in Wisconsin. For this reason
the boys at school did not really want to hang out with Levi, and that is why he and Macallan
become such good friends in a short amount of time. The two of them could find a lot that they
had in common, even though they were from completely different places. Macallan and Levi were
together a lot, so when they hung out just the two of them, people would think they were dating
when they were not. This is the second stereotype addressed in the book; a boy and a girl that
spend lots of time together do not have to be a boyfriend and a girlfriend. Throughout middle
school and high school, they were constantly asked if they were dating, when they were not.
Therefore, in Better off Friends by Elizabeth Eulberg, Eulberg addresses stereotypes about where
people come from and people of the opposite gender being just friends. First

Is The Texas High Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Compact...
In the United States of America, Texas is one of many states that has been solidly of a republican
and conservative ideology throughout the history and time it has been a state whether it be from
Texas during reconstruction with it conservative Democrats to the switched conservative
Republicans of today. With that being said, Texas compared to other states, spends far less money
on governmental programs and agencies local and statewide whether that be from the Health and
Human Services Commission to the Department of Housing and Community affairs. Still, the
public perception is that the government has been increasingly wasting money on some of these
various state and local agencies, so the Texas legislature has passed the Sunset Act... Show more

Based on the agency and its policy for waste management and disposal of low level radioactive
waste, I believe that interest groups such as those dealing with business and economic growth
would be likely to support its elimination. Examples of such interest groups might be ones
supporting the Ameren Corporation, or BP of America. I say this because they would consider
such an agency as a nuisance and won t help them support their business of production through
the strict rules and regulations. In opposition, interest groups that would probably support the
continuation of this agency would be those that favor the environment and its relative protection,
an example of such would be the ones representing the City of Dallas, Texas which has the
responsibility of caring for the welfare of its population while providing basic services. Taking on
the negative side of the spectrum, if such an agency would be eliminated, there would be a pile up
of such waste, as 90% if relative waste is that of low level waste and it would result in inadequate
management which could affect people exposed to the radioactive materials and natural resources.
The pros however would be that eliminating such an agency could reduce the spending that the state
uses and gets from it

Star Of David And The Menorah s Symbols
It seems that the earliest use of the symbol was in the form of a hexagram and used in many
cultures for decorative purposes that continued through the Middle Ages. Around the 17th
century, the star was found in Synagogue architecture in the Middle East, North Africa and
Europe and was used by Christians, Hindus, and Muslims at some point in time. The symbol
gained more prominence when it was chosen to appear on the flag at the First Zionist Congress
in 1897. When the Zionists searched for a symbol of their movement, they picked both the Star
of David and the menorah, one for their flag, and one for their national seal. The Star was also
used during the Holocaust, when the Nazis made the Jews wear the yellow Star of David as a way

Even their flags were without symbolism and writing of any kind. However, the symbol is in
fact known to be have been used in graphic depictions as early as the Babylonian period in
Mesopotamia. For example, the Stele of Ur Namu, which dated from 2100 BC, included the
Crescent Moon and Star which is believed to symbolize the goddess Ishtar (the star) and Nanna,
the god of moon and wisdom (the crescent moon). Later, when the Turks conquered Constantinople
(Istanbul) in 1453 CE, they adopted the city s existing flag and symbol (A History of the Crescent
Moon in Islam, n.d.) but with an 8 pointed star which was a common symbol for the Virgin Mary.
There is speculation that the 8 pointed star changed to the five pointed star to represent the five
pillars of Islam. The use of the symbol is not accepted by all Muslims as many consider it
blasphemous. Despite this, the crescent symbol is still widely associated with Islam, appearing on
the flags of many Muslim countries and on mosques such as the Al Aqsa Mosque in

Summary Of Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Blithedale Romance
America s inception stemmed from the desire to create a society which differed from those
before it. By taking the best pieces of previous civilizations, the founding fathers strived to create
a perfectly formed society based on equality, a balance of power, and the independence of man to
pursue their own dreams. Literature of this period and more specifically the 19th century often
deals with experimentations on this very basis for society. Does one favor the individual over the
community or ignore the personal desires of the individual in favor of a collective mindset?
Experimenting with the makings of a utopia, defined by Merriam Webster as, a place of ideal
perfection especially in laws, government, and social conditions creates a serious question on the
plausibility of a perfect society. Dealing with this very quandary first hand, Nathaniel Hawthornes
The Blithedale Romance is an experimentation on forming a perfect utopia. Within the novel, the
desires of the individual are squandered in favor of the collective. In reading Hawthorne, one gets
the sense that the world is just out of reach for him. Attaching a mysticism to everything detaches
the characters from any sense of reality, meaning that any experiment they set out on should be met
with suspicion. Whereas in Henry David Thoreaus Walden, Thoreau places the individual on a
higher plane than the community. Going into the woods, Thoreau detaches himself from society in
a far different manner than Hawthorne, with

Aztec Beliefs On Death And The Afterlife
Aztec view of the afterlife and its significance was the driving force of their life. Aztecs strongly
believed in an afterlife. The journey to the afterlife entailed many things. It was believed that the
way you died decided how your afterlife would go, not the way you lived. If you didn t die in the
specific ways which sent you to specific gods, you would go through the nine levels hell; in the
ninth you would serve for eternity. They are not places of bliss or damnation, merely multiple
levels of existence divided in purpose.
Aztec afterlife was not seen as death, but just as another level of consciousness and existence, and

The human heart: abode to the substance of human life, known as the teyolia. The teyolia was
affiliated with the world above the earth, it is also the only spirit to travel to the afterlife. The
teyolia was considered transcendent, and to be used in the creation of another being. The
human brain: abode of the drive of love and heat, known as tonalli. The tonalli was affiliated
with the highest heavens of creation. The brain was turned to ashes and put in a box with a tuft
of hair to be kept by the family. The human liver: abode to courage, the soul and the engine of
passions, but also the force of cold. This was known as ihiyotl. Ihiyotl was dispersed after death
in winds, spirits and illnesses, and was affiliated with the underworld. After death, every human
being had a service, tasked by the gods, in the cosmic process. The departed did these services to
help keep humanity alive. (Ian Mursell)
In Aztec belief, the way you die defines your afterlife. Normal people dying normal deaths
constitutes a normal afterlife. (Dockray, 2013) Mictlan(Hell) is pretty much the default setting.
Within Mictlan there are three main gods: Mictlantecuhtli, the god of death, his wife,

Rationale for Bharti Infratel Ltd. IPO:
The Company was established in July 2007, as a spin off from Airtel, to provide tower
infrastructure services to telecom players in the market.
Strategy: The Company was looking at expanding its tower business to cater to not only Airtel but
also other players and hence needed to raise capital for the huge capital expenditure required for
building its tower infrastructure.
Industry Factors: Indian telecom network is the second largest in the world after China. India has
864.72 Million wireless telephone connections and a tele density of 73.34% as on December 2012.
(Dept. of Telecom, Government of India, 2012 2013)
The Company is expected to benefit from the increase in penetration of voice and data services in
India, which will drive the telecom companies demand for additional towers. The tenancy ratio is
expected to increase as telecom players roll out 3G/4G on 2100 MHz and 2300 MHz bands.
Network expansion by India s leading telecom majors Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Idea Cellular
Ltd will work in Bharti Infratel s favour. Large scale operations, first mover advantage and pool
sharing arrangement among the top three telecom majors is expected to improve Bharti Infratel s
operating leverage and

Social Problem Of Violence Against Women
Violence against women is huge social problem. It is not just a women s problem but also a men s
problem. Violence against women is seen everywhere in the world, especial those who live in more
patriarchal society. We are in a world where we see violence against women as a big issue but we
have done very little to dissolve it. Violenceagainst women is everywhere, at home, at the
workplace, and even outside, in the places in between. Violence against women does not
discriminate, it touches every race and at every age. Many violence against women are left
without punishment. No matter how small or how big the violence is, it needs to be addressed.
Violence against women is very much workplace as any other place. Violence against women is
mostly seen when the person initiating violence is in a higher position then a women. This leads to
many acts of violence left unpunished or resolved. Because those initiating the violence is mostly

likely not report it because they will not like to lose their job, they would believe no one will

females in the workplace still have to deal with sexual harassment. So, most little things are left

An Analysis Of Flowers For Algernon
Flowers for Algernon is a very intriguing novel about Charlie Gordon, a mentally challenged adult.
Throughout the novel, there are numerous references to Carlie s past with his family. His past
intelligence is what primarily causes him to undergo his treatment. However, his past relationship
with his family, prominently his mother, alter his abilities to develop emotional connections. His
newfound intelligence also complicates his abilities to reconnect with his family and friends
from before. Therefore, Charlie s past had a very powerful influence on Charlie during and after
the experiment. During the experiment, Charlie s intelligence level heavily influences how he is
treated. Before he becomes an intellectual, Charlie is treated with great disrespect by his
acquaintances. Charlie s coworkers used the phrase pulling a Charlie Gordon quite often when
insulting another coworker. They use this term to describe a person as unintelligent, or stupid,
much like they label Charlie. Initially, Charlie does not understand what the term means, but as
he becomes smarter, he does, and it upsets him greatly. Charlie s change of opinions affects his
relationships and bonds. Before Charlie went through the experiment, he believes his coworkers,
Frank and Joe, are his best friends, as they take him to parties with them. As Charlie progresses,
he realizes they only keep him around to embarrass him, and for a good laugh. (4) Suddenly,
during his progression, Charlie s co workers take a

Bending Space and Time Essay
The bending of time and space is usually reserved for science fiction and the dreams of young
kids who enjoy the thoughts and fantasy of being great space captains and saving the galaxy.
Now if we imagine both time and space being physical things, thing that could be changed, or
bent, to our will, we will get the basis of the idea we are trying to present. Spaceis already viewed as
physical, as space doesn t necessarily mean the Final Frontier but as the area around us and all
that it contains, but we don t have the capability of being able to alter it in any great way, only use
it has it was given to us. Timeis seen not as a thing at all, but a perception of the world, or space,

Now bend that paper in half so those two points are right on top of each other and imagine (since
you can t draw this one) the line representing the new shortest distance. Now consider, if you will,
being able to do with actual space itself. Bending the entire universe, and this time I mean
physically bending it to be able to change the shortest distance to such a distance that it s like
being able to take a step there, but since physically bending it is even weirder, we re
metaphysically bending it by sending broken up particles to another point where they will be
reconstructed into the item originally broken up. One could even argue that in this process the
original is copied and destroyed and an entirely new one walks away, or if it isn t a live thing, a
new one is obtained, but in such perfect detail to the original, or if this isn t its first time it s
gone, a perfect copy of another perfect copy, meaning that there would be no complications
caused by moving a copy. But we re humans, and once this technology is real, it is my own
personal belief that this won t be a perfect process. So space is a physical thing that can be
represented by say, a piece of paper, and then that piece of paper can be physically bent to describe
the physical to metaphysical relationship to how it works when someone would bend it to make the
shortest distance between the two points event shorter. Now we can discuss how time works, which
is as much a question of

The Things They Carried By Jonathan Culler
Throughout history, it has been said that two or more sides exist to every story. In Literary Theory:
A Brief Introduction by Jonathan Culler, this concept is further examined, with Culler stratifying
literature into two distinct types of language, performative and constative. While constative
language draws upon factual or literal interpretations, performative language deals more so with
embellishment or the expression of details as they seem. In a similar manner, author Tim O Brien
coins the term story truth, a derivative of real truth , within his novel The Things They Carried, to
discuss how retellings of wartime events are often altered to convey the emotional significance they
possess. It is through these two works, Culler s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Though The Things They Carried is largely a retelling of personal experiences during the Vietnam
War, there exists another key element of the work, a self referential sector in which O Brien
establishes a, not always, clear dichotomy between what is true and what is true for the context of a
story. This story truth is a revelation, a telling aspect that modifies the supposed truth into an
amalgam of mental and emotional based reactions, a lens through which the factual is warped into
the fictional. Therefore, these instances when O Brien leans upon story truth become incredibly
important as readers are able to gain insight into the psyche of the storyteller, how they view the
world and how they cope with the events of the war.
In this sense, Culler s performative language and O Brien s story truth are inseparable, serving as
two means to the same end goal; through performative language, O Brien embraces the fictitious
and reforms what is true into story truth as a means to express their magnitude.
On The Rainy River is one of the first instances in which O Brien s referential, or reflective, nature
is revealed as he begins the chapter explaining that the events he will describe he has never told
another individual. With this in mind, the emotional significance is already apparent, as the
character Tim is being vulnerable, unraveling his heart for all to

Women were looked at as physically unattractive and were seen as selfish because they were not

help raising money. Girls played with no audience or crowd because parents would go see their
sons play and wouldn t watch their daughters compete. Discrimination towards women is not
only seen in schools, but also in the military. For example, 90 percent of the women enlisted in

Advantages Of Dual Citizenship
Also known as multiple citizenship or dual nationality , dual citizenship refers to one who is a legal
citizen in two different countries, at the same time. One is able to retain his or her citizenship from
their home country, and attain another citizenship at the same time. However, this is applicable
only if both countries permit dual citizenship. As a dual citizen, one can have privileges such as
easy access to multiple countries without a visa. But as a dual citizen, one has to fulfill their duties

This may cause friction between the foreigners and the native citizens, and result in serious
social problems. It will be difficult for foreigners to blend in with the native citizens; the
foreigners will have to follow the customs and ways of the natives. But problems will arise when
foreigners do not engage themselves in the country fully, and view the country as a place for
them to make a living. As a Singaporean, I feel that the local government should not allow dual
citizenship. Dual citizenship can be a wonderful thing, as one can enjoy the perks of being a
citizen from all over the world. However, citizenship is something that should not be taken for
granted. Singapore is a country bounded by many strict laws and fines. If dual citizenship is
allowed, who can guarantee that Singaporeans would not pack their bags and leave for another
country, which can offer the same benefits and more freedom? During times of war, which
country, will one, defends? Which country has a higher priority? If Singapore is plagued by
disasters or economic recessions, will Singaporeans remain in Singapore or leave with their dual
citizenship? By allowing dual citizenship, the sense of loyalty towards Singapore is reduced. Dual
citizenship for Singapore could also mean that more and more foreigners will take up residency in
Singapore, and it could salvage the ageing population

How Did Gauss Contribute To Math
Carl Friedrich Gauss, from his youth, was destined to be a great mathematician. By the time Gauss
turned three, he had already taught himself to read and write. Additionally, Gauss often told
acquaintances and friends that before he learned to speak, he learned to make mental calculations.
Throughout his lifetime, Gauss made discoveries which would benefit many fields within
mathematics. Gauss contributed greatly to the fields of arithmetic, statistics, geometry, algebra, and
astronomy. The origin of this famed mathematician began in Brunswick, Germanyon April 30th in
the year of 1777. Gauss had humble beginnings, and lived in a small house with his parents.
Gauss s parents were both peasant laborers, which was expressed by the local dialect they spoke
(West 15 16). Gauss s father, Gebhard Dietrich Gauss, worked in various areas; he worked as a
brick layer, gardener, canal tender, street butcher, and accountant for funeral society (West 16).
Gauss s mother, when she was Dorothea Benze, worked for seven years as a maid before she
married Gebhard. Gauss was Dorothea s only child, but he had a half brother, Johann George
Heinrich, who was the son of Gauss s father from an earlier marriage (West 16). Gauss was an
intelligent child, and at the age of three, he corrected an... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ethical Issues Of Abortion
Abortion is an ethical issue that has generated heated debates for the past several years. Abortion is
the practice of terminating a pregnancy resulting, or closely followed by, the death of the human
fetus (Shakir and Moreno Ruiz). Also, abortion means an early ending of pregnancy, which may
happen on its own (miscarriage or spontaneous abortion), or when women choose to end pregnancy
by taking certain medications or surgically done ( Abortion Topic Overview ). Despite the
landslide verdict by the United States Supreme Court decision in Roe versus Wade in 1973 that
legalized abortion, the issue of abortion has become extremely controversial and debatable. This
has resulted in dichotomy among people, with one group in favor of abortion, and other group
vehemently oppose the practice of abortion. The supporters of abortion argue that women have
autonomy to their bodies, and they should have legal right to make decision to terminate their
pregnancies. However, those who oppose abortions argue on moral and religious grounds that
abortion is an act of killing an innocent soul. The question is who set the moral standard, and
where is the line between morality and immorality on abortion? According to a recent data, a
total of 730,322 abortions were reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
for 2011, and abortion rate and ratio were 13.9 abortions per 1,000 women aged 15 44 years, and
219 abortions per 1,000 live births respectively (Pazol et al.). In

Bchira Vs Segula
During Grade 11 Rabbinics Class some interesting discoveries were made about the true reason
that the Jewish people are considered an Am Segula (treasured people). The two different
options for this argument are Bchira Vs Segula. The explanation for Bchira is that the Jewish
people chose God and all his teachings so God chose them back in return. In contrast, Segula says
that God loves the Jewish nation, and therefore God chose the Jewish people to be his treasured
nation. Now, there are many disagreements between Bchira and Segula because there are different
explanations as to why they are God s treasured nation. I believe that the Jewish people are an Am
Segula because of Bchira. When looking in detail at Bchira, it is the more sensible option.

Words As Sweet As Honey From Sakhambi Short Story
The story Words as Sweet as Honey From Sankhambi is a story being retold by a children s book
specialist Linda Rode. Sankhambi plays a big part in many Venda folktales and is very alike to
Hlakanyana from Zulu Folklore. He takes on many different shapes and sizes in these tales but
one thing for certain is wherever he is there is always trouble. This story is about how monkeys
became tall, slender, quick, and nimble from being short, and fat. Back in the early days the
monkeys were fat, little, pot bellied animals that moved rather slowly. They were not nearly as
nimble or quick as they are today, and there body shape was much different. Sankhambi had a lot of

happy about this and would throw seeds and bits at him from high in the tree tops while he lay there

monkeys not to listen to him, because it was just another one of his wicked tricks. Sankhambi

curious animals so they slowly began to climb down the tree to listen to Sankhambi. Sankhambi

The Period Of The Renaissance Period
Renaissance literally means rebirth. It refers particularly to the rebirth of learning during this
period. There was a tremendous revival of classical literature and art, but in the end it was the
joining of this with the intellect of the Italian people that lead to the change of the Western World.
This period was definitely more than just a rebirth though, it was also an age of new discoveries,
both geographic and intellectual. Both of these resulted in changes of tremendous importance for
Western civilization.
In the economy, for example, there were many innovations that lead to a commercial revolution.
There were innovations in banking, accounting, company structure, insurance and commercial law
and the invention of commercial capitalism. All of these things worked together to usher in a new
world that was very different from that of classical Antiquity but they also laid the foundation for
what was to come during the Renaissance period.
When looking at the culture during this time there was great influence from the Humanist
movement led by Petrarch. There has been some controversy over time as to exactly what the
humanist movement was all about. According to Burkhardt the time was a discovery of man,
which was in direct contrast to the current secular interests of the time. Modern humanists are
defined as someone who has a set of human values, which are normally secular in nature, that are
based on a particular conception of many and his potential.

Zoe Foils
In the book After the Ending, Lindsey Pogue and Lindsey Fairleigh the two main characters,
Danielle and Zoe, were foils of each other. Zoe s brother, Jason, perfectly summarized the two
when he described Zoe as serious and pessimistic and Danielle as one who sees the glass half
full. Their appearances also balance each other out, as Jason pictured Danielle as vivacious, with
bright red curls, whereas Zoe is dark, but with eyes as bright as the ocean. When Jason described
the two girls, he illustrated that even though both their looks and personalities are completely
opposite, these yin and yang qualities are what bonded them together and created their mile deep
friendship. In addition, those different attributes and how they are foils

Bud Caldwell is ten years old. At the age of six, Bud s mother died. Bud lives in an orphanage,
called the Home, since he does not have any family members to take care of him. When Bud

Assessment Of Treatment Effect Evidence
3.4.Imprecision
Similar to the imprecision assessment of treatment effect evidence, the imprecision assessment for
relative importance of outcomes scrutinise the confidence interval and the sample size. What is
challenging is because diversified study designs, result presentations or methodologies are used,
usually there is no confidence interval constructed, or there is not a simple way to calculate the
minimum sample size with sufficient power to produce a narrow estimate for the relative
importance outcomes.[53]
3.4.1.Confidence interval
3.4.1.1.Is the confidence interval narrow (for systematic reviews)? (Answer options: Yes; probably
yes; probably no; No)
The answers of yes or probably yes suggest a precise estimate, while no or probably no suggest
imprecision estimate.
Rationale: To consider imprecision, systematic review authors need to decide whether confidence
interval around the estimate is sufficient narrow. Unfortunately, we do not have an empirical
narrow confidence interval for relative importance of outcomes evidence.
Due to diversity in study designs, methodology and presentation of results, there could be situations
without confidence intervals, for example, the result reported could be the proportion of willing to
accept the prophylaxis treatment if the risk of adverse events decreased by 5%.
3.4.1.2.Does the confidence interval exclude the clinical decision threshold between recommending
and not recommending a treatment (for clinical practice

How Is Gun Control Effective
Gun Control: Is It Effective?
According to Sean Davis, cofounder and CEO of The Federalists, More gun laws won t prevent
evil people from doing evil things. Human nature cannot be legislated away, (Davis,1) For instance,
on June 17, 2015, Dylann Roof, a white supremacist, killed nine black people at the Emanuel
African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina. As a matter of fact; South
Carolina has some of the strictest gun control laws in the Southeastern part of the U.S., so, is the
lack of gun control really the cause of shootings? There should not be an increase in gun control
laws because we have the right to bear arms, individuals are able to acquire firearms from the black
market, and most mass shootings have occurred on gun free zones.
We, Americans, have the right to keep and bear arms, restricting that right is unconstitutional. By
taking our rights away, we are left defenseless from people who intend to do evil. Moreover, the
states that allow registered citizens to carry concealed weapons ... Show more content on

Shooters target these gun free zones due to the absence of guns to defend the victims. With the
restriction such as the gun free zone, it will only encourage them more to attack. For instance, the
Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting that occurred on Dec. 14, 2012 was a gun free zone.
Overall, there should not be more restrictions on gun control because it s our right by the Bill of
Rights, acquisition by the black market for guns, and gun free zones attracting shooters. By
knowing the opposing side of gun control, it will enable you to know the possible dangerous effects
of an increase in restrictions. Informing the public on how ineffective the laws are, will help them

Postive Effects of Medieval Social Classes Essay
The development of social classes in medieval England affected life for the people in many positive
ways. It served as a means of organization to base their daily lives off of, and also gave the peasants
and trade classes protection from the rulers and the clergy class in return for their labor and
allegiance ( Quizlet ). Life in the Middle Ageswas based on the framework of social classes so they
could flourish socially and economically. The British class structure was a configuration of five
main classes. The King owned all the land and distributed portions of it to his nobles. He was part
of the ruling class, along with the Pope and the rest of the royalty (Pattie). The Pope was the
religious ruler and had power over the church and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Monks were the scholars of this time period, and they spent the majority of their time praising
God and attending prayer meetings and church. The last group of people in the clergy class was
the nuns. They weren t as intellectual as the monks, so their jobs involved catering to the
people by nursing the sick to health in the infirmary, educating young children, and caring for
orphans (People of the Middle Ages ). The next group of people was in the middle class. They
were the citizens of the town, and they acquired high amounts of money so that their families
could live comfortable lives. The mothers in these households were not obligated to work
because the man of the house could financially support the whole family ( Middle Class ).
Sometimes they had servants to help the women with household chores and duties like cooking,
cleaning, and caring for the children. This class also included shipmen, cooks, and high class
merchants (Schwartz). Below the middle class was the trade class, which included merchants and
craftsmen. Men involved with retail would travel great distances to achieve authority and power
over certain trade routes ( Middle Ages: The Medieval Social Classes ). The trade class hugely
impacted the towns and the people because their income and trading skills helped to stabilize the
economy. Peasants and the middle class often disagreed with the work of the merchants because the
priests and the bishops were highly against it. They believed

Large plant sizes and the need for economies of scale rendered the ethylene industry highly capital
intensive. Consequently, capacity additions or reductions could significantly affect balance of
supply and demand, influencing capacity utilization rates, prices, and profit margins. Ethylene
profitability was tightly linked to its global operating rate. Among the investors in the ethylene
business were oil companies, governments, pure chemical companies, conglomerates, private
investors, and joint ventures. According to UBS Warburg plc, financial return objectives ranged
from loss leader to zero return to beating the cost of capital. The loss leader or zero return player
was often a government operator that was, directly or indirectly, financing capital intensive
ethylene plants in order to stimulate downstream business. This was the case in Brazil, where the
government sponsored a tripartite model, in which private Brazilian capital, multinationals holding

Mary Parker Follett s Leadership
Mary Parker Follett had approached management in a different view than most managers of her
time. Rather than seeing conflict as just that, a conflict, she thought a conflict could be a good
thing. Mary believed that managing was not about dominating the employees, nor
compromising with them but rather stating each of the preferences a person holds and striving
to meet each of the personal needs together. She also believed that when a manager is giving
orders, they need to thoroughly discuss the instructions as well as deal with resentment. Chris
Kolbe believes his authority comes from his commitment to the company and his team, the way
he approaches things and his performance. Kolbe states he draws it from what he does every
minute, in how he communicates with his employees, and his directness. It seems as though
Kolbe and Follett had similar managerial practices. Follett thrives for a work place where each
person can express their personal preferences yet being respectful and mindful of those around
them. Kolbe creates a work environment where each employee feels safe and enjoys working
with him. He allows each employee to express their ideas and be their own person within the
business. By putting each and every employee into the broader picture, they have a sense of
belonging. This creates a thriving business. Also, Follett goes on to state that a manager needs to
be direct and thorough about what needs to be done. Kolbe has these one on one talks with his

Vte Case Studies
Treatment for non invasive VTE consists of three phases: initial phase, early maintenance phase and
long term secondary prevention phase (Figure 2). Low molecular weight heparin, unfractionated
heparin and fondaparinux are the keys of initial treatment for patients with DVT and PE. Heparin
act by binding to the natural anticoagulant antithrombin, thereby consequently increasing the
activation of thrombin by antithrombin and several others activated coagulation factors.
Unfractionated heparin (UFH) is an immediate anticoagulant for patients of VTE which are
clinically instable. Patients who might undergo advanced therapies for VTE such as fibrinolysis,
catheter based intervention and surgery is therefore preferred UFH. It is usually administered as an
initial bolus followed by continuous infusion.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Integration Of Math And Science
Integration is a topic should be talked about because it is a topic that has multiple view points some
negative and some positives. No matter the viewpoints it is important to consider how integration
impacts the students. At the end of the day what students retain is what matters and retaining
information can happen in a variety of different ways. Integration provides a way to connect
multiple subjects and allows students to make connections. Integration can be difficult for teachers
to teach because the integration does not fit well, but the outcome of integration is beneficial. With
the heavy weight of assessments and standardized, tests teachers need to make sure that whatever
they teach needs to connect to standards and unites. Sciencehas become a subject that has been put
on the back burner because tests like Maps and Paws testing do not assess science. There are
many factors that affect what and how teachers teach. Integration of math and science is one way
to teach that allows teachers cover more than one major subject. Integration allows teachers to
teach science and math in the same environment that allows students to flourish. The classroom is
filled with a variety of different objectives and lessons and as teachers we need to make sure we
are using our time the best ability. The big question of this research is whether integrating math and
science is beneficial for students in the classroom. Each lesson and activity needs a purpose in the

The Era Of Andrew Jackson

Andrew Jackson was the seventh president of the United States, elected in eighteen twenty
eight. Prior to his presidency Andrew Jackson was well known and favored for his success
against the British in the war of eighteen twelve. Upon election, Andrew Jackson became known
as the people s president gaining the majority of electoral votes over his opponent John quincy
Adams.Throughout his presidency many events occurred that would shape America as a
nation. During his time as President Andrew Jackson was both favored and hated by many
individuals. His actions pleased certain groups of people, but would also cause for a loss of
support amongst Americans. Jackson s legacy would leave behind a strong willed group of
supporters, known as the Democrat party, and the creation of opposed individuals known as the
Whig party as well. His presidency would be viewed as time of improvements to some, but to
others who strongly opposed his presidency, it would be seen as a time for unjust tariffs and
conflict. Jackson s presidency would be characterized by key events such as the Indian removal act,
the nullification crisis, and the dispute known as the war against the bank, that would alter the
nation forever. One of the many acts put into place during Andrew Jackson s time as president
includes the highly controversial Indian Removal Act. The Indian removal act was signed and put

4.There are some strategies companies have or could adopt in the future as an effort to make
workplaces more family friendly for those they employ. Some examples of actions that demonstrate
workplaces being supportive of their employees efforts of combining family and work
commitments are childcare services, flexible schedules, and familyor medical leave. Childcare
services could include things such as on site services to care for a child during employee work
hours or by providing a subsidy for outside childcare services. Accomplishing flexible schedules
would include items that cater to the employees schedule for example job sharing, a compressed
workweek, and flexible hours. Paid time off and personal days would also fall under these policies.

The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are damaging behaviors identified from research
conducted by social psychologist John Gottman. The ways these feeling are expressed is
destructive and are associated with couples whose relationship will more than likely end in
divorce. The Four Horseman are contempt, criticism, defensiveness, and stonewalling. Contempt,
such as an eye roll, is an attack towards another s sense of self with the intention of
psychologically abuse or an insult. It often leaves the spouse feeling inferior or undesired.
Criticism, for example a verbal attack towards another s personality or their character, entails
producing disapproving judgments or evaluations meant to indicate the faults one one s partner.
Defensiveness, like viewing oneself as the victim to deflect a forthcoming verbal attack and
ultimately reverse the blame, is mentally preparing oneself against a presumed upcoming attack.
Stonewalling, an example being withdrawn so as to avoid conflict to distance oneself from
disapproval, is the act of refuting complaints and refusing to give them serious consideration.
When using any of the Four Horsemen during a developing argument, the couple s quarrel will
often escalate rather quickly leaving both involved feeling contemptuous towards the other party
and allow what could be a trivial issue to balloon into a much larger problem. This would leave the
parties defensive towards each other and with negative feeling abound could signal an

Heterosexism And Sexism
Sexism and Heterosexism Sexism is a type of discrimination which I feel is such a part of our
culture that we often do not even recognize it and it is widely overlooked. Johnson (2013) suggests
we need to deal with the social roots that generate and nurture the social problems that are reflected
in the behavior of individuals (p. 335). Unquestionably, it becomes difficult to recognize, and
therefore begin to change, that which is the social norm in our world; and yet, to do nothing
perpetuates the problem of a patriarchal culture (Johnson, 2013).
In a patriarchal culture, on group is exercising control over another group, or groups, in an effort to
exert domination in all areas (Johnson, 2013). The symbols and ideas that make up patriarchal ...

This is to say nothing of attitudes against women when sexism is combined with racism. Based on
information presented by Blackmon (2008), South Carolina governor Cole Blease was quoted as
saying I have...very serious doubt as to whether the crime of rape can be committed against a
negro (p. 305). According to Katz (2013), it will take not only women activists, but men who are
willing to reject the sexist attitudes of the males who have come before them to eradicate the gender
inequality which is commonplace in today s society. Additionally, sex segregation in the
workplace deserves acknowledgement. In the twenty first century, so many advancements have
been made for women in this area; and yet, women are still left disadvantaged in the economic
arena (Bernstein, 2013). Bernstein (2013) acknowledges women are still predominantly
shouldering the burdens of raising a family, and even though 15% of women are holding
historically male dominated positions, their average yearly pay with a graduate degree lags male
pay by approximately $35,000 a year. Given the overall acceptance of sexism in our society,
women are inundated with female ideals of the perfect woman and body images which set
impossible standards. Statistics show exposure to advertisement images have increased over the

has to up to date about the taxes, rules and legislation as they change very often. Employment law is

economic forces like consumer confidence, employment, interest rates and inflation (ref) also affect
the organization. The Organization also has to keep checking exchange rates if they import raw

lifestyles, buying habits, education levels, health consciousness. The population of the country can

The fourth external force in the analysis is technological. Some of technological forces are like
computer calculation speed and power of CNC machineries, lathe machine s efficiency and

organization can do online marketing, selling and much more. The second last of these external

Genghis Khan s Impact On Modern Civilizations
Many of the great ancient rulers of the world are remembered for being strong warriors and military
leaders. They had a profound influence in their era and on the evolution of modern times. With their
many accomplishments and dedication towards their empires, the great rulers flourished with new
ideas and fought with no mercy to expand their empires. From the strong military forces to the
wealth made from trade, the great rulers of the past changed the lives of the people in their empire.
Although the leaders were often tough and ruthless, they made important contributions in the
ancient world and helped shape modern civilizations. One of the greatest rulers, Genghis Khan, had
a dramatic impact on history due to his brutal leadership and military tactics. He was a vicious
ruler who successfully conquered and expanded his empire. Genghis Khan was a warrior and ruler
of genius who, starting from obscure and insignificant beginnings, brought all the nomadic tribes of
Mongoliaunder the rule of himself and his family in a rigidly disciplined military state (Bawden,
2017). Genghis Khan s military armies swept through most of Asia s powerful civilizations leading
to the spread of Mongolian teachings. He brutally conquered areas by killing any opposing
civilizations. However, he forced no religion on the conquered, which allowed the spread of new

A Research On Suicide Awareness Programs
Suicide Awareness Programs

Suicide Awareness Programs In the nursing field, there are several nursing interventions that exist.
Suicide awareness programs are a specific nursing intervention that could be used in a specific
situation. For a nursing intervention to be effective, it must be proven through scientific research,
making the intervention evidence based practice. The purpose of this assignment is to utilize and
evaluate evidence based practice regarding a specific nursing intervention. The specific nursing
intervention that has been chosen through article research is suicide awareness programs and how
they affect a nurses ability to recognize suicidal behaviors. The clinical question formulated from
information in the article chosen for this assignment is, do nurses who receive short training
programs along with a continuing education class monthly have improved ability to recognize
suicidal behaviors compared to nurses who only attend the monthly continuing education class?
Study Purpose The purpose of the study evaluates whether a short training program can improve
nurses abilities to recognize and effectively respond to patients exhibiting suicidal behavior (Tsai,
2011). The study was done because suicide is a major public health issue in Taiwan, where the
number of incidences has escalated greatly since the year 1997 (Tsai, 2011). Most suicide victims
do not always seek professional help for their

The Law Of Obligation And The Criminal Law
The English system law has been described as a common law rather than a civil law system. To
begin with, there is a significant difference between the civil and criminal law. On the one hand,
the purpose of the civil law will be to settle disputes between private s parties. On the other hand,
criminal law is the body of law that punish criminal offenses and protect the innocent.
In order to complete our essay, we will first focus on the fact that a link clearly exists between
tort and contract law. The law of tort and contract are part of the law of obligations . They are
indeed similar in nature, but, a sharp distinction can t be denied, while obligations in contract law
are set by the parties themselves, obligations in tort are set by the law. The law of obligation is a
branch of the civil law legal system.
Hence the idea, that similarities and differences can be demonstrate between the law of obligation
and the criminal law.
Firstly, both contract and tort law are both delimited by obligations and usually deal with a duty
that has been breached. Liabilities are part of the civil liability responsibility.
The nature of obligation in a contractual relationship is established by the terms of the contract.
The parties must respect their duties or liabilities arising out of the obligation undertaken by the
contract. A breach of contract is a breach of a legal obligation. In tort law, the nature of the
obligation is not agreed between the parties, but arises by virtue

The Power Of Stereotyping
The Power of Stereotypes
Throughout our American society, there have been topics, or more specifically, issues, that have
been implemented in our lives. Whether it be poverty, economic issues, equality, and thus forth,
there is one what has always been around for centuries, but has made a bigger impact is
stereotyping. This in particular topic has lead to a multitude of problems, such as social
categorization, and the cause of prejudice. The stereotyping propaganda in the United States has
caused more problems and attracted more attention than is truly needed. Stereotyping has been
a normal occurrence since human beings have been able to do so to others, as tragic as that is.
Although it has been through our history, nothing from the past can possibly compare to the
amount of stereotyping going on in our world in the modern day, and how much it impacts us
and others around us. Robert L. Heilbroner says it best in his article DON T LET
STEREOTYPES WARP YOUR JUDGMENT (citation) Stereotypes are a kind of gossip about
the world, a gossip that makes us prejudge people before we ever lay eyes on them. Hence it is
not surprising that stereotypes have something to do with the dark world of prejudice (Heilbroner
Pg.19 number 5). He then goes on to say that Once we have typecast the world we tend to see
people in terms of our standardized pictures. He then goes on explaining about a demonstration he
performed with a number of Columbia and Barnard students, showing

Nba Lockout Essay
July 1st, 2011 is one of the most historic days in NBA history. On this date the league took part in
its second ever lockout. Issues with revenue sharing and structuring the salary cap and luxury tax
between players and owners led to the historic 161 day lockout. While owners and players were
at each other s throats arguing over the percentage of revenue to split amongst themselves, entities
who depend on the success of the league suffered. Local revenue generated by NBA franchises,
Television Networks who depend on the strong ratings that the league provides and Advertisers
who market their products during NBA broadcasts were all financially impacted by the lockout.
After much delegation between both sides, both parties came to terms on a 50 50 revenue split on
December 8th, 2011, signing a 6 year Collective Bargaining Agreement. After such a hard fought
battle between both sides and the negative financial ramifications it had on league and the business
around it, it seems like both sides the player and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fans like I suffer when the league goes on hiatus like it did in 2011 and as a fan of the NBA it
leaves a bitter taste in my mouth watching billionaire owners and million dollar players arguing
over percentages. To the organizations that are losing money and pushing for another lockout
maybe they should consider running their teams differently and looking at how to maximize
earning potential. With the league current and expected number of revenue there should be no
reason to not reap the rewards. The league is thriving and with a 24 billion dollar TV deal recently
sign there should be no reason for it not to continue thriving. I hope the players and owners avoid
another lockout, with 24 billion and additional revenue streams it d be mutually beneficial to

How Did The Minoans Influence The Mycenaeans
The Aegean period brought about three significant culture civilizations; the Minoans, the
Mycenaeans, and then the Greeks (Matthews, Noble, Platt, 2014). It is evident the civilizations of
Greece learned (although made their own), from the Egyptian and Mesopotamian cultures, which
truly speaks to how we continue to learn and evolve from previous sets consistent culture of
advancement. The Minoans preceded the Mycenaeans who subsequently preceded the Greeks. The
key aspects of the Minoan and Mycenaean cultures that lived on among the later Greeks include
their writing, architecture, the arts and trades, and religion, to name a few.
The Minoans, a prosperous society, due to their domination in trade, formed on the Greek Island of
Crete around 2000 BC (Osborne, 2015). The Minoan civilization was named after King Minos, the
legendary king (Matthews, et al, 2014). The Minoan civilization was evidently not Greek, as the
writing Linear A, has still not been able to translated. However, this primitive writing led to the
development of Linear B by the Mycenaeans, which was later used in the Greek ... Show more

The Minoan civilizations gave art breath (Osborne, 2015). Their art, pottery, sculptures, frescos
beautifying the palace centers, jewelry influenced the Mycenaeans designs, which Greeks
improved upon. It is clear the economic pursuits lived through to the Greeks. Moreover, the
Minoans were polytheistic, though matriarchal (Matthews, et al, 2014). The Mycenanean religion
had ties to the nature gods, as well as some predecessors of Olympian gods and goddesses seen
later in the Greek culture (Mark, 2013). We can truly understand the evolution of civilization to
civilization, as we watch separate cultures and civilizations adapt portions of a previous existence
and then transform into something of their own. This incredible passing of the torch sort of speak,

Electrocardiogram Research Paper
This paper presents a real time electrocardiogram (ECG) monitoring system for wearable devices.
The system is based on the proposed parallel Delta Modulator architecture with local maximum
points and local minimum points algorithms to detect QRS and PT waves. Therefore, using the
proposed system and algorithm, real time PR and RT interval measurements can be achieved. The
algorithm is tested with the MIT BIH Arrhythmia Database and achieves above 99%, 91%, 98%
accuracy in QRS complex, P wave, and T wave detections, respectively. Experimental results are
presented from the system prototype, in which the parallel delta modulator circuits are fabricated in
IBM 0.13 Ојm standard CMOS technology and the algorithms are implemented in a Xilinx... Show

In wearable ECG sensors design, QRS detection is one of the most important parts. Current QRS
detection systems could be mainly divided into two categories: one needs additional
computation help usually via DSPs or CPUs, like wavelet transforms [7], or artificial neural
networks [8], these algorithms with complicated computation can obtain very precise detection
results, but they are uneasy to be implemented in wearable devices because of the power
consumption. Another type of QRS detection system combines DSP and ADC and processes
data in real time, which can get reasonably precise results with low hardware complexity, like on
chip cross correlation [9], integrate and fire pulse train automaton [10], pulse triggered and time
assisted pulse triggered [11], and input feature correlated algorithm [12]. Since ECG signal has a
wide fractional bandwidth in the frequency spectrum, the analog to digital converter (ADC) in
these systems usually applies oversampling in order to avoid signal distortion introduced by anti
aliasing filters due to the trade off between fast roll off and flat group delay [13]. Therefore, delta
modulators and sigma delta modulators are widely used in these systems. Thus, the algorithm for
wearable ECG signals should be able to work with sigma delta or delta bit streams since decimation
filters are power hungry [14].

The Odyssey, Medea, And Oedipus The King
While our class has been covering different aspects of Greek civilization, I was assigned to read
the literature from that time period. Some examples of the literature I read was The Iliad, The
Odyssey, Medea, and Oedipus The King. These readings show direct relations to the concepts and
ideas that occurred in Greek civilization during this time in history. Some of the recurring themes
throughout these stories are religion, philosophy, and hospitality. Polytheism, fate, and hospitality
towards others are some of the important concepts that were held by the Greeks. The religious views
of the Greek civilization is evident throughout the literature of that time period. The Greeks were
known to have been a Polytheistic people, who believed in multiple gods/goddesses. They
believed these gods constantly interfered with their lives, both in good and bad ways, which is
shown in the literature. Not only do the characters pray or converse with these... Show more content

One important value the Greeks held was hospitality. In The Odyssey, Odysseus travels through
many different places. As he encounters new people, they often welcome him in immediately. In
fact, hospitality was so common that whenever Odysseus encounters the island inhabited by
cyclops, he assumes he is welcome and begins to eat their food and drink. The concept of
hospitality in the literary works connects not only to their civilization in general, but specifically
connects with their religious beliefs. I believe it is possible that the Greeks gave hospitality to
others on behalf of their gods/goddesses rather than just out of kindness. One example of this
would be in the Iliad, where Achilles welcomes in other men such as Odysseus to his hut and
prepares them food. He does this before asking about their intentions. This seems a little weird by
today s standards, as this happened before Achilles had joined their side in

High Tier Punishment
My teachers in lower grades used punishments more than rewards to influence my behaviors.
Starting from kindergarten the punishment system was introduced to me. Whenever I
misbehaved, I had to move the clothespin with my name on it, up the next paper plate which
symbolized a higher tier of punishment. The three levels were green, yellow, and red. The first
tier, green, symbolized freedom to play during recess, the second tier, yellow, symbolized a
penalty of time that had to be sat on a bench, and the final tier, red, symbolized a trip to the
principal s office. The fear of having to go see the principal or having to sit on the bench for a
period of time was my motivation to not misbehave. This system of punishments continued with

Candide is a young man who lives in the Barony of Thunder ten tronckh. There, he is instructed by
the philosopher Pangloss, whose doctrine is that we live in the best of all possible worlds. One
day, the Baron s daughter CunГ©gonde comes across Pangloss having sex with Paquette, her
mother s chambermaid. Inspired, she approaches Candide, intending to do the same. Unfortunately,
the two are caught kissing. Furious, the Baron kicks Candide out of Thunder ten tronckh. Candide
wanders from place to place, and is eventually tricked by two Bulgarian soldiers into joining their
army. He performs well in military exercises, but flees like a coward in the first battle.
Candide makes his way to Holland, because he has heard it is a rich country. There, he begs for

Rogerian Theory
Rogerian Theory: The Person Centered Approach of Therapy Humanistic psychology was
developed from the many counter reactions towards psychoanalytic and behavioristic theories. In
addition, it is considered the third force of psychology and it consists of theories that have a holistic
approach to human nature. One of the most significant and establishing theorists of the humanistic
force was Carl Rogers, as he developed the Person Centered Theory. Over the years, his theory has
deeply expanded and influenced the knowledge of many mental health professions.
Early life of Theorist Carl Ransom Rogers was the fourth of six children, in which five were boys.
He was born on January 8, 1902, in Oak Park, Illinois. His parents, Walter and Julia Cushing Rogers
were devoted and loving parents, giving a great deal of time and energy to creating a family
(Boring and Lindzey, 1967, pg. 344). As a child, Rogers learned to place the most value in work
and religion. At the age of seven, Rogers became particularly interested in the Bible and was
capable of reading advanced Bible books (Boring and Lindzey, 1967, pg. 344). His incredible
academic abilities and studious personality allowed him to skip grades, however, he was teased a

Strategies of Japanese Supermarkets in Hong Kong

As business becomes increasingly internationalized, it is no surprise that many large retailers have
expanded beyond the borders of their own countries. In Hong Kong, which is an international city,
many local retailers have expanded abroad, and many retailers operating in the territory come from
Europe, North America, Japan, and other East Asian countries. Japanese retailers, in particular, have
been very successful in Hong Kong, and Japanese supermarkets are a very important element of
food retailing in the territory. Saturation of the home ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Among stores in Hong Kong, Yaohan, Uny, Jusco, and Seiyu fall into this category. In Japan,
these GMS department stores tend to locate in the suburbs, and they have also expanded to
medium and smaller cities. Land was much cheaper here, and the Large Store Law initially did
not restrict the establishment of large stores in suburbs as much as in city centres. The law was
strengthened in 1979, and expansion of the GMS was curtailed. However, because of different
location strategies, GMS chains contain many more stores than traditional department stores. They
also tend to rely somewhat more heavily on their supermarkets (Table I). To cope with the Large
Store Law and spiralling land prices, GMS stores, in particular, have invested heavily in small
convenience and small speciality stores. They now own most of the large convenience and
speciality retail chains in Japan[6]. Many stores, including Tokyu and Seibu, have also begun
diversifying into non store retailing methods[7]. However, until the Large Store Law was relaxed in
1993, there was little opportunity in Japan to establish large new department stores, with their
attached supermarkets. These department store/supermarket complexes are the core business for

Monopoly Is A Board Game
Monopoly has been known as possibly one of the most known board games of all time. Monopoly
is a board game in which players try to enrich themselves by developing Atlantic City, New Jersey,
real estate (Philippe R. Girard). It was created by Charles Darrow in 1935. The game is meant to be
played with a group of people to make it more enjoyable. Millions of people around the world know
of and play Monopoly. It has evolved over several years and other versions have been created
over several years. Monopoly has been known as one of the best board games ever created because
of the history of the board game, the development, the different versions of the it today, and its

Monopoly has developed from the Landlord s Game to Monopoly. The original purpose of was
to show how Henry George s system of political economy would work in real life (Dodson). One
of the first versions of the game featured a path that allowed players to circle the board, in
contrast to the linear path design used by many games at the time (Mary Pilon). After Magie
made the game, it become very well liked, so she decided to make another version and patent it.
This new version had named streets and other appearance changes such as a rectangular board
(Edward J. Dodson). A few years later, by the late 1920s, Magie and the creators changed the
design by gathering the properties into groups, allowing buildings to be added to the locations
and increasing the amount of rent charged based on the number of properties owned. In 1934,
Charles B. Darrow, developed his own game for public release and used the streets of Atlantic
City, New Jersey (Galley and Briavel). This was later known as Monopoly. As soon as he created
the game, he offered to sell the board game to the Parker brothers that same year, but they were not
interested. A year later in 1935, they changed their thoughts and purchased the company (Matthew
Horton). The game was officially and continues to be owned by the Parker brothers. Monopoly has
developed in several different ways and during this process, different versions of the game have
been created.

Thomas Jefferson Hemings Diary Analysis
If all the sympathy and love toward slaves that Thomas Jefferson held could be summed up by a
single collection of first hand documents, it would come from the diaries of Sally Hemings.
Although many conflicting accounts of their relationship exist, Hemings diary suggests that a
level of romance beyond procreation existed between the two. Hemings diary includes multiple
accounts of Jefferson giving her luxuries reserved for members of the family. One of the boldest
entries in the Hemings diary is written from the words of Jefferson. Hemings own words prior to
the entry imply that Jefferson is trying to convince her to come to America with him. Jefferson s
words in the entry are the following: Marry within the family. You ll gain my fidelity....The

In 1814, Jefferson wrote a letter to Edward Coles concerning the emancipation of slaves. When
discussing the idea Jefferson wrote that, The laws do not permit us to turn them loose, if that
were for their good: and to commute them for other property is to commit them to those whose
usage of them we cannot control. I hope then, my dear sir, you will reconcile yourself to your
country and its unfortunate condition. Here Jefferson explains that freeing his own slaves won
t lead to a better life for them. In context, the argument Jefferson presents is that if all slaves were
freed, they would be unable to integrate into the American society. This belief held by Jefferson
was first presented in query XIV of Notes on the State of Virginia, where he responds to question
of black integration with the conclusion that such an integration would, reproduce convulsions
which will probably never end but in the extermination of the one or the other race (Jefferson
140). It is truly perplexing to assign these words to a man who lived and procreated with a slave,
yet the statement is consistent with all other aspects of his life. Some have argued that Jefferson
made such claims to protect his own wealth and assets, but no documents produced at the time
support that belief. As many slaveowners did at the time, Jefferson thought of his slaves as
members of his family (Nicolaisen 108). Considering his prejudice, it is likely that he truly
believed remaining a slave master was in his slaves best

INTRODUCCIГ“N

  • 2. Lgbt Case Application Paper Overview of case study I was the counselor for Sean, a gay man that is experiencing high anxiety and hopelessness. Sean recently moved to the area and his support system is lacking. When Sean came out to his parents three months ago, his parents were not receptive. His father offered to pray for him and said Sean would have to find somewhere else to live unless he wants to change being gay. His father is a high profile political figure that recently pushed anti LGBTQ legislation in a different state. Sean s relationship with his parents has been strained since he came out to them, and he really only speaks to them when he needs money. Sean has been struggling with accepting his identity and seems to be in the third stage of Cass s Homosexual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Many times the counselor is the one person in the client s life that does not offer judgement and gives them the space to think through the issues affecting them, and the counselor can help in creating a bigger picture with the connections between the emotional, psychological, and physical problems affecting their functioning. To gain a better understanding of the connections a counselor can ask questions and present challenges, and this experience confirmed that I still struggle with my confidence in that area. Something that I believe will strengthen my ability in this aspect is to consider my intention behind it and know that the client can handle my questions and challenges, and that I do not have that much power in the room. The client does not need my protection in the room, and my protection can make the situation worse for them. The biggest element of this experimental project was the reconfirmation of we are all humans and just want to be treated with respect. We all have different experiences and identities that have formed who we are, and that does not mean that we need to treat each other differently. Instead just be a fellow human being that is there to listen, provide respect and support, and empower them to find that support both in themselves and in outside relationships so they will no longer need our ... • 3. The Main Disagreements Between the Conservative, Labour... The Main Disagreements Between the Conservative, Labour and Liberal Democrat Parties The three main parties in UK politics, Labour, Conservatives and Liberal Democrats, are all based on greatly differing ideologies which can often lead to them having varying viewpoints on key issues. These differences can often lead to conflicts or disagreements between the parties over which policy will be most beneficial to the country. A particularly controversial and fiercely contested issue is the role of the United Kingdom in the future of the European Union. The Labour party are often considered to be pro Europe although their policies do tend to keep Britain s interests at heart. Their priorities for Europe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Like Labour, Liberals argue that the EU must be enlarged to guarantee its future survival although, unlike Labour, they do feel that EU institutions must be made more efficient. Another controversial political issue is that of constitutional reform. The Liberal Democrat and Labour policies in this area are very similar in the way that they both believe in devolution of power away from Westminster through regional assemblies. Both parties feel that many of the current political systems are outdated and must be modernised if political participation is to rise. The parties do differ however, on taxes. Labour have always strived to keep taxes as low as possible whilst attempting to strike a balance with good public services. The Liberal Democrats feel this can only be achieved if taxes are raised, therefore making the public pay for the improvements. As with the EU, Conservatives have greatly differing policies from the other two parties. They believe in the preservation of national sovereignty and traditional political methods. They are strongly opposed to the devolution proposed by the other parties and this even extends to Northern Ireland, which the Conservatives believe should be ruled from London. The whole issue of the welfare state and how much the state should provide for its people has been argued over ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Better Off Friends Character Analysis Imagine moving from Los Angeles, California to a small town in Wisconsin and not knowing anyone at the new school. Anyone in this situation would want to make friends that would accept them in the new town. This is the position Levi, one of the main characters in Elizabeth Eulberg s Better off Friends, is in when he starts middle school. Macallan, the other main character, is the person that befriends Levi, and they become very close very fast. Being a new kid from down south, many people stereotypeLevi because of how he looks and the way he acts, which was normal in Los Angeles where he used to live, but odd to the people in Wisconsin. For this reason the boys at school did not really want to hang out with Levi, and that is why he and Macallan become such good friends in a short amount of time. The two of them could find a lot that they had in common, even though they were from completely different places. Macallan and Levi were together a lot, so when they hung out just the two of them, people would think they were dating when they were not. This is the second stereotype addressed in the book; a boy and a girl that spend lots of time together do not have to be a boyfriend and a girlfriend. Throughout middle school and high school, they were constantly asked if they were dating, when they were not. Therefore, in Better off Friends by Elizabeth Eulberg, Eulberg addresses stereotypes about where people come from and people of the opposite gender being just friends. First ... • 5. Is The Texas High Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Compact... In the United States of America, Texas is one of many states that has been solidly of a republican and conservative ideology throughout the history and time it has been a state whether it be from Texas during reconstruction with it conservative Democrats to the switched conservative Republicans of today. With that being said, Texas compared to other states, spends far less money on governmental programs and agencies local and statewide whether that be from the Health and Human Services Commission to the Department of Housing and Community affairs. Still, the public perception is that the government has been increasingly wasting money on some of these various state and local agencies, so the Texas legislature has passed the Sunset Act... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Based on the agency and its policy for waste management and disposal of low level radioactive waste, I believe that interest groups such as those dealing with business and economic growth would be likely to support its elimination. Examples of such interest groups might be ones supporting the Ameren Corporation, or BP of America. I say this because they would consider such an agency as a nuisance and won t help them support their business of production through the strict rules and regulations. In opposition, interest groups that would probably support the continuation of this agency would be those that favor the environment and its relative protection, an example of such would be the ones representing the City of Dallas, Texas which has the responsibility of caring for the welfare of its population while providing basic services. Taking on the negative side of the spectrum, if such an agency would be eliminated, there would be a pile up of such waste, as 90% if relative waste is that of low level waste and it would result in inadequate management which could affect people exposed to the radioactive materials and natural resources. The pros however would be that eliminating such an agency could reduce the spending that the state uses and gets from it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Star Of David And The Menorah s Symbols It seems that the earliest use of the symbol was in the form of a hexagram and used in many cultures for decorative purposes that continued through the Middle Ages. Around the 17th century, the star was found in Synagogue architecture in the Middle East, North Africa and Europe and was used by Christians, Hindus, and Muslims at some point in time. The symbol gained more prominence when it was chosen to appear on the flag at the First Zionist Congress in 1897. When the Zionists searched for a symbol of their movement, they picked both the Star of David and the menorah, one for their flag, and one for their national seal. The Star was also used during the Holocaust, when the Nazis made the Jews wear the yellow Star of David as a way of identifying... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even their flags were without symbolism and writing of any kind. However, the symbol is in fact known to be have been used in graphic depictions as early as the Babylonian period in Mesopotamia. For example, the Stele of Ur Namu, which dated from 2100 BC, included the Crescent Moon and Star which is believed to symbolize the goddess Ishtar (the star) and Nanna, the god of moon and wisdom (the crescent moon). Later, when the Turks conquered Constantinople (Istanbul) in 1453 CE, they adopted the city s existing flag and symbol (A History of the Crescent Moon in Islam, n.d.) but with an 8 pointed star which was a common symbol for the Virgin Mary. There is speculation that the 8 pointed star changed to the five pointed star to represent the five pillars of Islam. The use of the symbol is not accepted by all Muslims as many consider it blasphemous. Despite this, the crescent symbol is still widely associated with Islam, appearing on the flags of many Muslim countries and on mosques such as the Al Aqsa Mosque in ... • 7. Summary Of Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Blithedale Romance America s inception stemmed from the desire to create a society which differed from those before it. By taking the best pieces of previous civilizations, the founding fathers strived to create a perfectly formed society based on equality, a balance of power, and the independence of man to pursue their own dreams. Literature of this period and more specifically the 19th century often deals with experimentations on this very basis for society. Does one favor the individual over the community or ignore the personal desires of the individual in favor of a collective mindset? Experimenting with the makings of a utopia, defined by Merriam Webster as, a place of ideal perfection especially in laws, government, and social conditions creates a serious question on the plausibility of a perfect society. Dealing with this very quandary first hand, Nathaniel Hawthornes The Blithedale Romance is an experimentation on forming a perfect utopia. Within the novel, the desires of the individual are squandered in favor of the collective. In reading Hawthorne, one gets the sense that the world is just out of reach for him. Attaching a mysticism to everything detaches the characters from any sense of reality, meaning that any experiment they set out on should be met with suspicion. Whereas in Henry David Thoreaus Walden, Thoreau places the individual on a higher plane than the community. Going into the woods, Thoreau detaches himself from society in a far different manner than Hawthorne, with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Aztec Beliefs On Death And The Afterlife Aztec view of the afterlife and its significance was the driving force of their life. Aztecs strongly believed in an afterlife. The journey to the afterlife entailed many things. It was believed that the way you died decided how your afterlife would go, not the way you lived. If you didn t die in the specific ways which sent you to specific gods, you would go through the nine levels hell; in the ninth you would serve for eternity. They are not places of bliss or damnation, merely multiple levels of existence divided in purpose. The tonalli was affiliated with the highest heavens of creation. The brain was turned to ashes and put in a box with a tuft of hair to be kept by the family. The human liver: abode to courage, the soul and the engine of passions, but also the force of cold. This was known as ihiyotl. Ihiyotl was dispersed after death in winds, spirits and illnesses, and was affiliated with the underworld. After death, every human being had a service, tasked by the gods, in the cosmic process. The departed did these services to help keep humanity alive. (Ian Mursell) In Aztec belief, the way you die defines your afterlife. Normal people dying normal deaths constitutes a normal afterlife. (Dockray, 2013) Mictlan(Hell) is pretty much the default setting. Within Mictlan there are three main gods: Mictlantecuhtli, the god of death, his wife, Mictecacihuatl and Xolotl. • 10. Social Problem Of Violence Against Women Violence against women is huge social problem. It is not just a women s problem but also a men s problem. Violence against women is seen everywhere in the world, especial those who live in more patriarchal society. We are in a world where we see violence against women as a big issue but we have done very little to dissolve it. Violenceagainst women is everywhere, at home, at the workplace, and even outside, in the places in between. Violence against women does not discriminate, it touches every race and at every age. Many violence against women are left without punishment. No matter how small or how big the violence is, it needs to be addressed. Violence against women is very much workplace as any other place. Violence against women is mostly seen when the person initiating violence is in a higher position then a women. This leads to many acts of violence left unpunished or resolved. Because those initiating the violence is mostly malewho are the boss or the manager, females do not speak up and report it. Females will most likely not report it because they will not like to lose their job, they would believe no one will believe them, and it would cost to much drama and talk in the workplace. Just a slap or a push is left unreported because females believes they are minor things compared to other things. Plus, females in the workplace still have to deal with sexual harassment. • 11. An Analysis Of Flowers For Algernon Flowers for Algernon is a very intriguing novel about Charlie Gordon, a mentally challenged adult. Throughout the novel, there are numerous references to Carlie s past with his family. His past intelligence is what primarily causes him to undergo his treatment. However, his past relationship with his family, prominently his mother, alter his abilities to develop emotional connections. His newfound intelligence also complicates his abilities to reconnect with his family and friends from before. Therefore, Charlie s past had a very powerful influence on Charlie during and after the experiment. During the experiment, Charlie s intelligence level heavily influences how he is treated. Before he becomes an intellectual, Charlie is treated with great disrespect by his acquaintances. Charlie s coworkers used the phrase pulling a Charlie Gordon quite often when insulting another coworker. They use this term to describe a person as unintelligent, or stupid, much like they label Charlie. Initially, Charlie does not understand what the term means, but as he becomes smarter, he does, and it upsets him greatly. Charlie s change of opinions affects his relationships and bonds. Before Charlie went through the experiment, he believes his coworkers, Frank and Joe, are his best friends, as they take him to parties with them. As Charlie progresses, he realizes they only keep him around to embarrass him, and for a good laugh. (4) Suddenly, during his progression, Charlie s co workers take a ... • 13. Bending Space and Time Essay The bending of time and space is usually reserved for science fiction and the dreams of young kids who enjoy the thoughts and fantasy of being great space captains and saving the galaxy. Now if we imagine both time and space being physical things, thing that could be changed, or bent, to our will, we will get the basis of the idea we are trying to present. Spaceis already viewed as physical, as space doesn t necessarily mean the Final Frontier but as the area around us and all that it contains, but we don t have the capability of being able to alter it in any great way, only use it has it was given to us. Now bend that paper in half so those two points are right on top of each other and imagine (since you can t draw this one) the line representing the new shortest distance. Now consider, if you will, being able to do with actual space itself. Bending the entire universe, and this time I mean physically bending it to be able to change the shortest distance to such a distance that it s like being able to take a step there, but since physically bending it is even weirder, we re metaphysically bending it by sending broken up particles to another point where they will be reconstructed into the item originally broken up. One could even argue that in this process the original is copied and destroyed and an entirely new one walks away, or if it isn t a live thing, a new one is obtained, but in such perfect detail to the original, or if this isn t its first time it s gone, a perfect copy of another perfect copy, meaning that there would be no complications caused by moving a copy. But we re humans, and once this technology is real, it is my own personal belief that this won t be a perfect process. So space is a physical thing that can be represented by say, a piece of paper, and then that piece of paper can be physically bent to describe the physical to metaphysical relationship to how it works when someone would bend it to make the shortest distance between the two points event shorter. • 14. The Things They Carried By Jonathan Culler Throughout history, it has been said that two or more sides exist to every story. In Literary Theory: A Brief Introduction by Jonathan Culler, this concept is further examined, with Culler stratifying literature into two distinct types of language, performative and constative. While constative language draws upon factual or literal interpretations, performative language deals more so with embellishment or the expression of details as they seem. In a similar manner, author Tim O Brien coins the term story truth, a derivative of real truth , within his novel The Things They Carried, to discuss how retellings of wartime events are often altered to convey the emotional significance they possess. It is through these two works, Culler s... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Though The Things They Carried is largely a retelling of personal experiences during the Vietnam War, there exists another key element of the work, a self referential sector in which O Brien establishes a, not always, clear dichotomy between what is true and what is true for the context of a story. This story truth is a revelation, a telling aspect that modifies the supposed truth into an amalgam of mental and emotional based reactions, a lens through which the factual is warped into the fictional. Therefore, these instances when O Brien leans upon story truth become incredibly important as readers are able to gain insight into the psyche of the storyteller, how they view the world and how they cope with the events of the war. In this sense, Culler s performative language and O Brien s story truth are inseparable, serving as two means to the same end goal; through performative language, O Brien embraces the fictitious and reforms what is true into story truth as a means to express their magnitude. On The Rainy River is one of the first instances in which O Brien s referential, or reflective, nature is revealed as he begins the chapter explaining that the events he will describe he has never told another individual. With this in mind, the emotional significance is already apparent, as the character Tim is being vulnerable, unraveling his heart for all to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Girls played with no audience or crowd because parents would go see their sons play and wouldn t watch their daughters compete. • 18. Ethical Issues Of Abortion Abortion is an ethical issue that has generated heated debates for the past several years. Abortion is the practice of terminating a pregnancy resulting, or closely followed by, the death of the human fetus (Shakir and Moreno Ruiz). Also, abortion means an early ending of pregnancy, which may happen on its own (miscarriage or spontaneous abortion), or when women choose to end pregnancy by taking certain medications or surgically done ( Abortion Topic Overview ). Despite the landslide verdict by the United States Supreme Court decision in Roe versus Wade in 1973 that legalized abortion, the issue of abortion has become extremely controversial and debatable. This has resulted in dichotomy among people, with one group in favor of abortion, and other group vehemently oppose the practice of abortion. The supporters of abortion argue that women have autonomy to their bodies, and they should have legal right to make decision to terminate their pregnancies. However, those who oppose abortions argue on moral and religious grounds that abortion is an act of killing an innocent soul. The question is who set the moral standard, and where is the line between morality and immorality on abortion? According to a recent data, a total of 730,322 abortions were reported to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for 2011, and abortion rate and ratio were 13.9 abortions per 1,000 women aged 15 44 years, and 219 abortions per 1,000 live births respectively (Pazol et al.). Sankhambi plays a big part in many Venda folktales and is very alike to Hlakanyana from Zulu Folklore. He takes on many different shapes and sizes in these tales but one thing for certain is wherever he is there is always trouble. This story is about how monkeys became tall, slender, quick, and nimble from being short, and fat. Back in the early days the monkeys were fat, little, pot bellied animals that moved rather slowly. They were not nearly as nimble or quick as they are today, and there body shape was much different. Sankhambi had a lot of fun sneaking up behind the monkeys and pulling their tails. Obviously the monkeys were not too happy about this and would throw seeds and bits at him from high in the tree tops while he lay there basking in the sun. Sankhambi hated the monkeybusiness and one day he decided that he was going to put a stop to it. He approached the monkeys and said in his sweetest voice that he wanted to tell his dear monkey friends a big secret. The eldest monkey called out to the other monkeys not to listen to him, because it was just another one of his wicked tricks. • 21. The Period Of The Renaissance Period Renaissance literally means rebirth. It refers particularly to the rebirth of learning during this period. There was a tremendous revival of classical literature and art, but in the end it was the joining of this with the intellect of the Italian people that lead to the change of the Western World. This period was definitely more than just a rebirth though, it was also an age of new discoveries, both geographic and intellectual. Both of these resulted in changes of tremendous importance for Western civilization. In the economy, for example, there were many innovations that lead to a commercial revolution. There were innovations in banking, accounting, company structure, insurance and commercial law and the invention of commercial capitalism. All of these things worked together to usher in a new world that was very different from that of classical Antiquity but they also laid the foundation for what was to come during the Renaissance period. When looking at the culture during this time there was great influence from the Humanist movement led by Petrarch. There has been some controversy over time as to exactly what the humanist movement was all about. According to Burkhardt the time was a discovery of man, which was in direct contrast to the current secular interests of the time. Modern humanists are defined as someone who has a set of human values, which are normally secular in nature, that are based on a particular conception of many and his potential. ... What is challenging is because diversified study designs, result presentations or methodologies are used, usually there is no confidence interval constructed, or there is not a simple way to calculate the minimum sample size with sufficient power to produce a narrow estimate for the relative importance outcomes.[53] 3.4.1.Confidence interval 3.4.1.1.Is the confidence interval narrow (for systematic reviews)? Unfortunately, we do not have an empirical narrow confidence interval for relative importance of outcomes evidence. • 33. Integration Of Math And Science Integration is a topic should be talked about because it is a topic that has multiple view points some negative and some positives. No matter the viewpoints it is important to consider how integration impacts the students. At the end of the day what students retain is what matters and retaining information can happen in a variety of different ways. Integration provides a way to connect multiple subjects and allows students to make connections. Integration can be difficult for teachers to teach because the integration does not fit well, but the outcome of integration is beneficial. With the heavy weight of assessments and standardized, tests teachers need to make sure that whatever they teach needs to connect to standards and unites. Sciencehas become a subject that has been put on the back burner because tests like Maps and Paws testing do not assess science. There are many factors that affect what and how teachers teach. Integration of math and science is one way to teach that allows teachers cover more than one major subject. Integration allows teachers to teach science and math in the same environment that allows students to flourish. The classroom is filled with a variety of different objectives and lessons and as teachers we need to make sure we are using our time the best ability. The big question of this research is whether integrating math and science is beneficial for students in the classroom. Each lesson and activity needs a purpose in the classroom and ... The Era Of Andrew Jackson Sedona Swanner History 1301 Mr. Spence November 10, 2015 The Era of Andrew Jackson Andrew Jackson was the seventh president of the United States, elected in eighteen twenty eight. Prior to his presidency Andrew Jackson was well known and favored for his success against the British in the war of eighteen twelve. Upon election, Andrew Jackson became known as the people s president gaining the majority of electoral votes over his opponent John quincy Adams.Throughout his presidency many events occurred that would shape America as a nation. During his time as President Andrew Jackson was both favored and hated by many individuals. His actions pleased certain groups of people, but would also cause for a loss of support amongst Americans. Jackson s legacy would leave behind a strong willed group of supporters, known as the Democrat party, and the creation of opposed individuals known as the Whig party as well. His presidency would be viewed as time of improvements to some, but to others who strongly opposed his presidency, it would be seen as a time for unjust tariffs and conflict. Jackson s presidency would be characterized by key events such as the Indian removal act, the nullification crisis, and the dispute known as the war against the bank, that would alter the nation forever. One of the many acts put into place during Andrew Jackson s time as president includes the highly controversial Indian Removal Act. Some of their movement was so slow that it was hard to tell whether or not the dancers were actually moving. On the other hand, Cascade of Moons had 6 dancers instead of only two. This gave another element to the piece because I would watch one dancer, then another, and by the time I went back to the first dancer, she was in a completely different position. Although they were moving extremely slowly, because each dancer was doing something different, it felt as thought there was always something new to look at. There were more moments of rapid movements in this piece as well, which was very contrasting to the slower movement. The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are damaging behaviors identified from research conducted by social psychologist John Gottman. The ways these feeling are expressed is destructive and are associated with couples whose relationship will more than likely end in divorce. The Four Horseman are contempt, criticism, defensiveness, and stonewalling. Contempt, such as an eye roll, is an attack towards another s sense of self with the intention of psychologically abuse or an insult. It often leaves the spouse feeling inferior or undesired. Criticism, for example a verbal attack towards another s personality or their character, entails producing disapproving judgments or evaluations meant to indicate the faults one one s partner. Defensiveness, like viewing oneself as the victim to deflect a forthcoming verbal attack and ultimately reverse the blame, is mentally preparing oneself against a presumed upcoming attack. Stonewalling, an example being withdrawn so as to avoid conflict to distance oneself from disapproval, is the act of refuting complaints and refusing to give them serious consideration. When using any of the Four Horsemen during a developing argument, the couple s quarrel will often escalate rather quickly leaving both involved feeling contemptuous towards the other party and allow what could be a trivial issue to balloon into a much larger problem. This would leave the parties defensive towards each other and with negative feeling abound could signal an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Unquestionably, it becomes difficult to recognize, and therefore begin to change, that which is the social norm in our world; and yet, to do nothing perpetuates the problem of a patriarchal culture (Johnson, 2013). To begin with, there is a significant difference between the civil and criminal law. On the one hand, the purpose of the civil law will be to settle disputes between private s parties. On the other hand, criminal law is the body of law that punish criminal offenses and protect the innocent. In order to complete our essay, we will first focus on the fact that a link clearly exists between tort and contract law. The law of tort and contract are part of the law of obligations . They are indeed similar in nature, but, a sharp distinction can t be denied, while obligations in contract law are set by the parties themselves, obligations in tort are set by the law. The law of obligation is a branch of the civil law legal system. Hence the idea, that similarities and differences can be demonstrate between the law of obligation and the criminal law. Firstly, both contract and tort law are both delimited by obligations and usually deal with a duty that has been breached. Liabilities are part of the civil liability responsibility. The nature of obligation in a contractual relationship is established by the terms of the contract. The parties must respect their duties or liabilities arising out of the obligation undertaken by the contract. A breach of contract is a breach of a legal obligation. Whether it be poverty, economic issues, equality, and thus forth, there is one what has always been around for centuries, but has made a bigger impact is stereotyping. This in particular topic has lead to a multitude of problems, such as social categorization, and the cause of prejudice. The stereotyping propaganda in the United States has caused more problems and attracted more attention than is truly needed. Stereotyping has been a normal occurrence since human beings have been able to do so to others, as tragic as that is. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In wearable ECG sensors design, QRS detection is one of the most important parts. Current QRS detection systems could be mainly divided into two categories: one needs additional computation help usually via DSPs or CPUs, like wavelet transforms [7], or artificial neural networks [8], these algorithms with complicated computation can obtain very precise detection results, but they are uneasy to be implemented in wearable devices because of the power consumption. Another type of QRS detection system combines DSP and ADC and processes data in real time, which can get reasonably precise results with low hardware complexity, like on chip cross correlation [9], integrate and fire pulse train automaton [10], pulse triggered and time assisted pulse triggered [11], and input feature correlated algorithm [12]. Since ECG signal has a wide fractional bandwidth in the frequency spectrum, the analog to digital converter (ADC) in these systems usually applies oversampling in order to avoid signal distortion introduced by anti aliasing filters due to the trade off between fast roll off and flat group delay [13]. Therefore, delta modulators and sigma delta modulators are widely used in these systems. Thus, the algorithm for wearable ECG signals should be able to work with sigma delta or delta bit streams since decimation filters are power hungry [14]. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Japan, these GMS department stores tend to locate in the suburbs, and they have also expanded to medium and smaller cities. Land was much cheaper here, and the Large Store Law initially did not restrict the establishment of large stores in suburbs as much as in city centres. The law was strengthened in 1979, and expansion of the GMS was curtailed. However, because of different location strategies, GMS chains contain many more stores than traditional department stores. They also tend to rely somewhat more heavily on their supermarkets (Table I). To cope with the Large Store Law and spiralling land prices, GMS stores, in particular, have invested heavily in small convenience and small speciality stores. The original purpose of was to show how Henry George s system of political economy would work in real life (Dodson). A few years later, by the late 1920s, Magie and the creators changed the design by gathering the properties into groups, allowing buildings to be added to the locations and increasing the amount of rent charged based on the number of properties owned. In 1934, Charles B. Darrow, developed his own game for public release and used the streets of Atlantic City, New Jersey (Galley and Briavel). This was later known as Monopoly. • 56. Thomas Jefferson Hemings Diary Analysis If all the sympathy and love toward slaves that Thomas Jefferson held could be summed up by a single collection of first hand documents, it would come from the diaries of Sally Hemings. Although many conflicting accounts of their relationship exist, Hemings diary suggests that a level of romance beyond procreation existed between the two. Hemings diary includes multiple accounts of Jefferson giving her luxuries reserved for members of the family. One of the boldest entries in the Hemings diary is written from the words of Jefferson. Hemings own words prior to the entry imply that Jefferson is trying to convince her to come to America with him. Jefferson s words in the entry are the following: Marry within the family. You ll gain my fidelity....The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1814, Jefferson wrote a letter to Edward Coles concerning the emancipation of slaves. When discussing the idea Jefferson wrote that, The laws do not permit us to turn them loose, if that were for their good: and to commute them for other property is to commit them to those whose usage of them we cannot control. I hope then, my dear sir, you will reconcile yourself to your country and its unfortunate condition. Here Jefferson explains that freeing his own slaves won t lead to a better life for them. In context, the argument Jefferson presents is that if all slaves were freed, they would be unable to integrate into the American society. This belief held by Jefferson was first presented in query XIV of Notes on the State of Virginia, where he responds to question of black integration with the conclusion that such an integration would, reproduce convulsions which will probably never end but in the extermination of the one or the other race (Jefferson 140). It is truly perplexing to assign these words to a man who lived and procreated with a slave, yet the statement is consistent with all other aspects of his life. Some have argued that Jefferson made such claims to protect his own wealth and assets, but no documents produced at the time support that belief. As many slaveowners did at the time, Jefferson thought of his slaves as members of his family (Nicolaisen 108). Considering his prejudice, it is likely that he truly believed remaining a slave master was in his slaves best ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
