Essay on Scotland and England
While many people in England believe that the Scottish are beneficial to their union. The
Scottish people believe that their way of life and culture is at risk of becoming an English one,
and for the reason, many Scots want independence. This is a good thing because it will be the
first time in a very long time that the Scottish people will have a voice of their own, and choose
their own fate as a nation.
First off, we will start with how and why Scotland joined with the English to form the United
Kingdom, and the Darien Venture and why it put Scotland in near collapse and total economic
devastation. Second, we will discuss why both sides agreed to the Acts of Union 1706 1707.
Third, we will go over the English and Scottish perspectives of ... Show more content on

So, Scotland had to fund the project by itself, the Scottish crown accumulated a massive sum of
gold, one fifth of the
entire wealth of Scotland, put it all aboard a ship and sent off a troupe of two thousand and five
hundred Scotsmen who eventually landed on the shores of Panama just over one hundred days.
They then named the new Scottish colony New Caledonia and immediately discovered some
very large problems with their plan: First off, on the western side of Panama, the mountains were
a lot larger than expected, making overland trade completely impossible. Even if they built a
canal, the technology to do so was still hundreds of years away. Second, the Scottish goods made
of wool brought to trade with the locals was absolutely useless in the perpetual heat and humidity
of South America. Third, the Spanish had already planted their flags on the beaches of Panama and
many other parts of South America, and they were not that grateful to see the Scots arrive. And
finally, without necessary supplies, diseases such as Dysentery spread quite quickly. Two full years
persisted and with the cost of two thousand dead Scotsmen, they eventually abandoned their project.
However, this was not the first failed attempt at Scottish empiricism early Scottish colonies have
been tried and eventually abandoned in Nova Scotia, New Jersey, and Carolina, but the ordeal with

In Sri Lanka, manufacturing of plastic consumer products and packages and industrial polymers is
a growing industry that developed over 45 years. Currently there are about 400 companies in Sri
Lanka involved in plastic industry. In addition, significant amount of plastic enters to Sri Lanka as
imported plastic products and goods. Sri Lanka imports about 500,000 metric tons of virgin plastic

The Driving Force in Entertainment is the Motion Picture
ANALYSIS OF MOTION PICTURE REVIEW AND SYNTHESIZE The motion picture is the main
driving force of the entertainment market, one of the biggest export markets, the United States.
Movie industry is divided into three stages: studio production, distribution, and exhibition. Movie

Integrated Healthcare Marketing Strategies
Integrated Healthcare Marketing Strategies
Introduction
The creation and execution of promotional and communications strategies are by definition today
multichannel and multimedia in scope. Combining both online and offline forms of media, the best
practices in integrated marketing communications includes digital media that is inherently more
measurable than offline counterparts, with offline media that is more agile from a messaging
standpoint (Finne, Strandvik, 2012). The accuracy and precision of measurement that online
marketing channels and platforms provide, in addition to the more immediate response generated
from programs, is leading to digital media being the majority of integrated marketing
communications spending globally (Reinold, Tropp, 2012). This has significant implications on the
ethicacy of advertising for healthcare products, as customers demand more authenticity and
transparency through these online channels (Bernoff, Li, 2008). The pervasive use of social media
is re ordering the balance of power between customer and marketer roles in the marketplace (Finne,
Strandvik, 2012). These are all factors healthcare marketers need to keep in mind when designing
their strategic marketing plans.
Bringing Ethicacy Into Integrated Marketing Plans
For any health related product, the integrated marketing communications strategy needs to first
concentrate on the entire customer experience and be cognizant of their needs while striving for

Pros And Cons Of Pay For Equal Pay
The Guardian article The USA women s national team are demanding equal pay. Is it realistic?
written by Beau Dure discusses the interview held by CBS s 60 Minutes about the USA women
s national soccer team s drive for equal pay. There have been scarce meetings between US soccer
and representatives for the women s team, and even less knowledge of what is being discussed
within these meetings. As of now all that anyone knows for sure is that the women s team
current deal is coming to an end. Dure points out that the debate at hand includes all forms of
equality between the US men s team and the US women s team; such as equality in pay, travel
amenities, and field location accessibility. However, while there are many parts to this debate
Dure choses to focus on the difference in pay. Dure emphasizes the difference in the payment
systems, bonuses for championships, and gap between two star players that play the same
position. Dure makes sure to add that this debate has been going on for a long time and not only
in the US. At this moment it is unknown if they are looking for exact pay as the men s team.

The Egyptians of ancient time domesticated cattle that became known as the Egyptian Cattle.
The Fayum area is the first evidence that they ever roamed the earth dating back to the 8th

Cattle.
The ancient cattle from Egypt did not have the usual hump. They had 2 different types of horns.
Some of them had huge horns that were spread wide apart. They would arch inward and then urn
outward. Some would have shorter horns and they would have the same shape.
Egyptian art shows these cattle as being black, brown, brown and white, white spotted, black and

Artificial Sweetener Vs Coke Essay
Results and Discussion
In this experiment, aspects of the scientific method were introduced and the significance of the
process of gathering measurements during an experiment were illustrated through the use of a
diverse set of glassware: graduated cylinder, volumetric pipette, and burette. These unique
measuring instruments played a role in concluding the densities of the two soft drinks, Coke and
Diet Coke, and whether or not a statistical difference existed between the two substances.
Conversely, the resulting densities determined by each of the differing glassware were assessed and
compared to each other in terms of accuracy and precision, with the most precise tool that produced
consistent similar results, deduced.

However, what was not mentioned was how the ingredients specifically contribute.
When analyzing the key ingredients of Coke and Diet Coke, sugar and artificial sweetener,
respectively, equal amounts of each product produces different levels of sweetness, with artificial
sweeteners being over a hundred times sweeter than natural sugars.1 As a result, in order to
produce a similar level of taste between the two soft drinks, a large amount of sugar is added into
Coke, in comparison to no sugar, and a small amount of sweetener in Diet Coke. Thus contributing
to a greater mass of Coke, and therefore a greater density, despite the equal volumes of both soft
drinks.
Consequently, if the volume increased by a doubled amount under similar experimental conditions
where temperature and pressure remained constant, the density of the soda would not be expected
to change due to density being an intensive property that is a ratio between the mass over the
volume of a substance.2 As an intensive property, density, under similar experimental conditions,
will be the same without regards to the amount presented. Doubling the volume would only serve to
punctuate the concept, considering how dividing two extensive properties, mass and volume, that
are directly proportional to the quantity of a substance, will cancel out the quantity dependence,
resulting in a ratio that is similar each

Assess The Role Of The Anti Hero In Hannibal
Filled with determination to act upon a self fulfilling goal that benefits the greater good in some
way, the anti hero serves as the protagonist of the story. Though the anti hero may seem to be the
villain they are not, at worst they are delusional but never evil. Often formed from tragedy and
occasionally psychotic the anti herois an important archetype in the area of storytelling.
The anti hero the protagonist with an unjust cause that happens to benefit the greater good. An
anti hero is not a role model or someone to look up to; often they are just the opposite. Rough,
tough, filled with rage, seeking only revenge or other similar disturbed moral justices. However,
through all of this they are the best choice for a victor. An example of... Show more content on

One difference is though Hannibal and Dexter are both serial killers Hannibal kills for the
enjoyment of killing. He kills his victims without care and then cannibalizes them. This serves
only his purposes and there is no greater good that Hannibal is achieving by his actions. This
gives Hannibal the role of the villain, though the audience may become infatuated with him
perhaps because of his charisma or otherwise he is still without a doubt the villain. On the other
hand, Dexter takes great care in selecting his victims. He seeks out those who are deserving of
justice and delivers it in the way the he best knows how. Capturing his victims and forcing them to
face their sins before death. What happens afterward shows one of Dexter s greatest character
flaws. Once his victim expires they are chopped into many small pieces with great care taken in
how the cuts are arranged and then a small trophy is taken in the form of a drop of blood. This is
one of the greatest examples of how flawed a character can be and still be called an anti hero.
While Dexter is preforming this ritual for his own gain he does not kill without reason or
purpose, and that reason, his purpose to kill is to help rid the world of its filth and violent crime.
Taking all of this into account we can plainly see the difference between the villain of the story
and the anti hero archetype. Villains like King Claudius and Hannibal Lecter only seek to serve
themselves and they are not concerned with what and who they must destroy to achieve their goals.
While anti heroes like Hamlet and Dexter will do morally questionable things but they always
whether intentional or not have a greater purpose they will

Rhetorical Analysis Of Pericles Speech
Pericles begins his speech with respect and impassivity while honoring the ancestors of Athens. I
shall begin with our ancestors, he explains, it is both just and proper that they should have the
honour of the first mention on an occasion like the present. They dwelt in the country without a
break in the succession from generation to generation, and handed it down free to the present time
by their value (Thucydides). When Periclesmentions the ancestors of the Athenians, he reels his
audience in and captures their attention. Athens is considered to be the most civilized society on
Earth at this time, but even so, the Athenians are very humble. When compared to their enemies,
such as the Spartans, Athens is much more advanced, humane, and... Show more content on

In generosity, we are equally singular, acquiring our friends by conferring, not by receiving,
favours (Thucydides). The claimed kind, favor oriented nature of Athens shown here must have
been a point of pride for the people. It contrasts against the militaristic nature of the Spartans and
the Persian Empire. This line earned praise from Pericles audience not because of his Athenian
audience, but because of the honor it gave to the fallen Athenian soldiers. At this point, Pericles
concludes his glorification of Athenian culture. In short, I say that as a city we are the school
of Hellas (Greece), while I doubt if the world can produce a man, who where he has only himself
to depend upon, is equal to so many emergencies, and graced by so happy a versatility, as the
Athenian. And that this is no mere boast thrown out for the occasion, but plain matter of fact, the
power of the state acquired by these habits proves (Thucydides). Pericles ties all of his
compliments together as if they were all one logical argument explaining Athenian superiority. His
final word on the topic was not a simple boast. He proved it with all of his speech so far. Finally,
Pericles holds authority and credibility in Athens as a

What Is Folkloric Like Epic Hero
The role and cultural description of what would be call a folkloric like epic hero didn t change for
many years...
Batman, Spiderman, Superman, or even the Hulk are just echoes of what would be recognized as
folkloric like epic heroes. Basically, a hero that is pictured as a larger than life character, who
fights the forces of evil, usually pictured as a vicious, cruel, villain or gruesome fiend.
Accordingly, the story of Beowulf is a classic example of such, including a clear folkloric epic hero
which is Beowulf, who fights forces of evil, presented as Grendel, his mother, and a fire
breathing dragon. Moreover, Beowulf express an expansive deal of heroic traits; for example: his
bravery and boldness, yet baffling fairness in his decisions before his first encounter with Grendel
that can be seen in this excerpt from the poem:

Do People Really Have Free Will Essay
Do people really have free will? Toshia Perry Axia College Slide 2 What exactly is free will?
Speaker notes: It is the ability for a person to determine some or all of his actions. Some consider
free will to be its own cause. Some consider free will to be independent of any other causation,
predestination, or predetermination by any other person, event, or stimulus. Of course, this does
not make sense since a person is free to do as he/she wants but what he/she wants can only be
consistent with his own nature. I propose that free willinvolves four aspects: Conception, Desire,
Choice, and Accomplishment. Conception leads to desire which leads to choice which leads to
accomplishing that choice. Slide 3 Who determines... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

it should be whether such a thing is possible. We must ask ourselves, Free from what? A mind
free from all motivating factors would have nothing to base decisions upon. There is just no such
thing as an uncaused choice. Many people, religious and secular alike, wonder if cause and effect
ultimately means that everything in the universe including human behavior is predestined, bound

cause and effect we make ourselves do things. The cause and effect that goes on in our minds is
what constitutes self, and our particular cause effect process is manifestly different from what we

The Applications Of Cluster Analysis
Cluster Analysis
Introduction
Cluster analysis is the technique of grouping individuals into market segments on the basis of the
multivariate survey information (Dolnicar, 2003). Market segmentation remains one of the most
fundamental strategies for marketing. Organizations have to evaluate and choose the segments
wisely as their target as this will determine how the organization will be in the marketplace. The
quality of groupings management that an organization opts for is very paramount for the
organizational success, and it calls for professional use of techniques to determine useful segments.
Cluster analysis provides a plentiful of techniques employed in determining the number of segments
and their characteristics (Wedel Kamakura, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The organizations may also find helpful information on the Internet as there are many organizations
that put their data online.
2. Segmentation
After an organization gathers data from the market research, an organization then can embark on
market segmentation. As companies cannot connect with all of their potential customers, they need
to divide markets into groups of consumers, clients, or customers with similar needs or wants
(Sarstedt Mooi, 2014). In other words, it is the grouping together of potential customers by their
willingness or their potential willingness in buying of the product you plan to sell. It is important
also to note that customers should not only be willing to make purchases from your company but
also they must also have sufficient income for them to qualify to become your customers. The
variables, in this case, which are vital include gender, age, home ownership, or loyalty to a
particular brand that you must overcome.
3. Carrying out market analysis
Once the relevant data is in hand, the next step is the carrying out of a final market analysis. In
this phase, you ought to be looking at a specific customer base that you will have to target with
your product. You need to do a keen observation to find out if among the clusters formed there are
custgome4rs large enough to justify your targeted marketing. After identifying the customers that
justify your criteria, and then you must start your marketing campaign. At this juncture, you

The majority of the African Americanpeople lived in fear of this evil that was everywhere around
them. One mistake, one look, one word, it takes one wrong move to get you killed. Anne lied
when Mrs. Burke asked her about Emmett Till s death; one because she was a very scary woman,
and two she remembers her mother telling her to do her work like she doesn t know anything. Her
mother knew better, she knew that Anne would be in big trouble if she said anything to Mrs. Burke
about what happened. I guess back then, staying quiet and acting like you don t know anything is
better than disappearing.
According to Mrs. Burke, Emmett Till had to die because he was a very disrespectful boy that got
out of his place with a white woman. He was from up North so she said that the Negro men were
more disrespectful up north than there in the south.

Queueing Theory In Hospital Management
Applications of queueing theory in hospital management: a literature review
Abstract
This paper reviews the applications and usage of the queueing theory in the aspect of health care
management problems. This paper review presents a way of optimizing the use of hospital
resources in order to improve hospital care. A queueing model is used to determine the main
characteristics of the access of patients to hospital beds, such as mean bed occupancy and the
probability that hospital care demand is lost because all beds are occupied. The aim of this paper
review is to provide detailed information to analysts who are interested in using queueing theory to
model a health care process and want to look into a technique for optimizing the number of beds in
order to maintain an acceptable delay probability at a sufficiently low level.

[1, 5] Queuing theory is applicable to any situation in general life ranging from cars arriving at
filling stations for fuel, customers arriving at a bank for various services, customers at a
supermarket waiting to be attended to by a cashier and in healthcare settings. [8, 3] Queuing
theory can also be applied to the analysis of waiting lines in healthcare settings. Most of healthcare
systems have excess capacity to accommodate random variations while some do not, so queuing
theory analysis can be used as short term measures, or for facilities and resource planning. The

A Serious Case Review (SCR) is held when an at risk adult dies and neglect or abuse is
suspected to be a factor in their death. The aim of an SCR is for all agencies and people

occurring in the future. The purpose of the SCR is not to apportion blame, it is to: Establish
whether lessons can be learned from the case in which local professionals and agencies work
together to safeguard vulnerable adults Identify what those lessons are, how they will be acted

Health and adult Social Care in England is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and
they ensure that the care people receive meets essential standards of quality and safety and they
encourage ongoing improvements by those who provide or commission care. They continuously
monitor compliance with essential standards and their assessors and inspectors frequently review
all available information they hold about a provider. Section 23(1) of the Health and Social Care
Act 2008 requires that the CQC produce guidance for providers of health and adult social care, to
help them comply with the regulations within the Act that govern their activities. The Act, the

Stopping World Hunger in Cuba
Many wise people have had much to say on the subject of hunger. World hunger quotes can help us
to understand what others think about this heartbreaking subject. Perhaps in understanding, a
workable solution will be found and hunger will be a thing of the past.
The ever more sophisticated weapons piling up in the arsenals of the wealthiest and the mightiest
can kill the illiterate, the ill, the poor and the hungry, but they cannot kill ignorance, illness, poverty
or hunger. Fidel Castro
While often demonized in the US, Fidel Castro did much work to bring the poorest and the worst
off of people the basics of healthy living. One of the injustices he attempted to right was the
starvation of the poorest of the Cuban people. Castro was a Marxist and a socialist. He believed
that each man woman and child was entitled to the things that make life possible.
The world s wealthiest countries can afford to build weaponry that can wipe entire peoples so that
it is like they never lived. They can throw away the poor, the hungry, the completely
disenfranchised people at the very margins of society. Yet such an approach will do nothing to
remove the problems that economic inequality creates. Only addressing the root issue of inequality
will forever solve the problem.
Further, he believed that if one person had to go without food so that another may feast that
something was indeed wrong with the system. He worked to bring food to everyone on his island

Estrogen Case Study
The brain is a major target organ for action of estrogens in both men and women. Estrogen s
neuroactive effects are multifaceted and encompass a system that ranges from the chemical to the
biochemical treatment to the genomic mechanisms, protecting brain against a wide range of
neurotoxic insults. Circulating estradiol enters the cell nucleus where it can bind two types of
receptors, ERО± or ERОІ. The complexes act as nuclear transcription factors by binding to an ERE
(Estrogen response element) and stimulating gene transcription which leads to increase in cellular
proteins that, by increasing neural transmission function, enhance cognitive function. Estrogen

Mainly in women by oophorectomy or natural menopause, decrease in ovarian hormonal output
have low concentration of estrogen and progesterone and experience a cognition decline. Estrogens
have several established neural actions that are predicted to contribute its theorized protective role
against cognition decline. These neuroprotective actions fall into three general categories: (1)
improved cognition via regulation of various processes including spine density, long term
potentiation, and neurotransmitter systems, (2) protection against neuron cell death, and (3)
inhibition of select aspects of AD neuropathology including AОІ accumulation and tau
hyperphosphorylation. The ability of estrogens to reduce AОІ accumulation may be their most
important neuroprotective action against cognition decline. As mentioned previously, AОІ
formation from APP mediated by two pathways either amyloid genic or non amyloid genic routes.
If the production of low levels of soluble APP alpha by non amyloid genic route and factors
influence amyloid genic processing of APP or a reduction in the AОІ clearance pathways can lead
to accumulation of AОІ, which in turn promotes assembly of the AОІ peptides into toxic oligomers
and large insoluble fibrils that can affect brain neurons. This process can be prevented by estrogen
and following menopause the decline in estrogen may then result in cognition decline due to the
deposit of insoluble AОІ

Pros And Cons Of Hypnosis
Hypnosis has emerged over the last twenty years as an extremely effective tool to treat
everything from depression and OCD to quitting smoking and improving self confidence. Lack
of self confidence is more often than not something developed during childhood and
adolescence. It is something that quietly and subconsciously informs all of our actions and
perceptions. As such tackling it from a purely conscious or logical standpoint is going to be very
difficult. Those who have tried cognitive behavioural therapy or CBT often admit feeling a bit
disappointed at the treatments ability to tackle these deep, nebulous issues of self worth and self
confidence. This is because they are purely based in the conscious mind. While CBT type
approaches certainly have their place analysing your thoughts and feelings and trying to bring
them into line with reality is always a good idea CBT has become overly popular as a quick fix
solution to a myriad of problems that potentially it just isn t well suited for.
Hypnosis on the other hand, focuses exclusively on the deep subconscious. Most of us are born
with a fairly high level of self confidence we haven t yet begun to consider ourselves stupid or fat
or unlovable. These beliefs, unfortunately, creep in incredibly quickly. Our understanding of
ourselves and our relationship to the world is determined in ... Show more content on

Abstract This research examined and listed some of the evidence demonstrating the long run
consequences of slow economic recovery after periods of recessions in the U.S. economy on wage
earners of a four person family. Economy shifts were examined and its effect on the four member
family, two adult wage earners, and two children was analyzed. This trend and shift of and within
the economy contributed to the overall wholeness and well being of the family. As a rising
economy produced family stability and productive home environments, a declining economy
produced insecurity and a negative home environment. Whether negative or positive, the economy
attributed to various differences within the context of a stable, healthy family structure. Keywords:

The Definition Of Obscenity And Obscenity Laws Constructed...
Obscenity revolves around what constitutes pornography and sexually explicit material to be
protected by the First Amendment rights of freedom of speech and press as stated in the
Constitution. I want to look at the language and definitions of obscenity created by the Supreme
Court and interrupt their effects on society. In this essay, I want to argue that the creation of the
definition of obscenityand obscenity laws constructed from community standards can be harmful to
society because they can be interrupted in many different ways. First, I would like to define terms
of what obscenity means and the differences between obscenity, vulgarity, and profanity. Obscenity,
as defined by the Supreme Court case of Miller v. California, believed... Show more content on

In a legal context, obscenity describes expressions that are typically sexual or crude references to
the body or bodily functions that offend the sexual morality of a given time and place. Even though,
this creates a gray are between something considered profane or vulgar language and/or behavior
and obscenity because profanity and vulgarity can offend the sexual morality as well. Nonetheless,
the First Amendment of the Constitution does not protect behavior, actions, or language seen
specifically as obscene.
Next, I would like to explore at what point or context does something turn from being considered
profane and/or vulgar into being considered obscene and therefore, against the law. In Roth v. US,
the court held that obscenity was not within the area of constitutionally protected speech or press .
The Supreme Court made it clear in the ruling that the First Amendment did not protect every
behavior, action, or expression, such as materials that were utterly without redeeming social
importance . The Supreme Court believed the definition of obscenity as stated in the above
paragraph gave a fair warning to the public and satisfied the demands of the Due Process clause in
the Fourteenth Amendment. The Supreme Court wanted to ensure to the public that an individual

African American Literature Reflection Paper
Before starting this class, African American Literature, I wasn t too sure what to expect. I had
never taken an AFAS class before but I had heard great things from my friends so I decided to
take one. Professor Carter was an amazing professor and always sounded to extremely passionate
and excited during class which I found very admirable. The way he spoke about the different
aspects of the class and the different pieces of writing was very intriguing and always held my
attention in class. We read a variety of African American
literature in this class which included
novels, poems, and short stories and each and every one of them related perfectly to what we were
talking about during that time in class. We studied different authors and their writing styles, as well
as different eras including the Harlem Renaissance.
The thing that set this class apart from the rest was the use of multimedia in the class. This
included the weekly voice threads, the live videos each class period, and the multimedia
projects throughout the semester. This was my favorite part of the class. I loved how the
professor didn t just want us to express our opinions of the literature in projects, but he wanted
us to express our opinions in the most creative ways. We were assigned weekly voice threads which
allowed us to answer several questions based off of our own opinions of the readings we read for
class. Personally, I loved this because I felt like I could proudly share what I felt about the reading

Recruitment And Selection Methods Used By Ohio Bath...
Recruitment and Selection The recruitment and selection methods used by organizations can make
the difference in attracting highly talented employees. Attracting skilled candidates requires
employers to use several techniques, including advertising job openings, establishing an employer
brand, and actively pursuing desirable candidates. In addition, the company needs to offer
potential employees an incentive to work for the company. Attractive compensation and benefits
attract highly skilled candidates. However, monetary rewards are not always the answer.
Companies can also appeal to talented candidates by offering employees work life flexibility and
career advancement opportunity. One recruitment method that Ohio Bath Solutions uses to recruit
talented employees is social networking. Social networking is growing in attractiveness as a
recruiting method. It is an effective method to seek out both young and experienced business
professionals. Greg Wright (2015) contends that by using social networking, [organizations] can
easily tell job seekers why [their] company is a great place to work or why [its] benefits or office
locations are better than those of competitors (para. 4). One social networking site that is a great
resource for recruiting is Linkedin. Linkedin is a site for business professionals. It enables its users
to set up professional profiles. Profiles include the user s photo, resume, professional networks,

The contrast that this story has is that Porphyria s lover killed Porphyria because he wants to spend

The Byzantine Empire
The Byzantine Empire was a primarily Christian empire whose reign started in 330 A.D and ended
in 1453 A.D with the capturing of the its capital Constantinople by the Muslim Sultan Mehmed II.
In the years following the fall of the Byzantines, many of the Christian basilicas were transformed
into mosques for Islamic worship, inspiring many artists to create works that embodied their
religious politics. One of the pieces created following the fall of the Byzantine Empireis Yusuf
Fleeing Zulayhka, created in 1488 by Kamal al Din Bihzad, a famous Persian painter who
worked under the patronage of several Persian sultans. The illustration depicts Yusuf s struggle
to escape his master s wife Zulaykha as she chases him through her elaborate palace in an
attempt to seduce him. The representation was made using paint, ink and gold, and features jewel
like colors in order to portray the extravagancy of the palace Zulayhka has built specifically for
the seduction of Yusuf (Stokstad 286). Bihzad places strong emphasis on the complexity of the
palace s architecture which he has adorned with colorful ornaments and emblazoned with gold.
Each room is decorated with rugs and tiles featuring complex floral and asymmetrical patterns that
cover each chamber from floor to ceiling. The palace appears to be three stories tall and features a
balcony on the left and a zigzagging staircase on the right. The asymmetrical style of these two
architectural features gives the impression of the work

Trojan War Analysis
The story of the Trojan war has fascinated humans for centuries and has given rise to countless
scholarly articles and books, extensive archaeological excavations, epic movies, television
documentaries, stage plays, art and sculptures, souvenirs and collectibles. But the real question
is, was homer a real person? Certainly heroes, from Achilles to Hector, are portrayed so credibly
that is easy to believe the story is based from true events. But is it truly an account based on real
events? And were the main characters actually real people? Would the ancient worlds equivalent of
the entire nation of Greece really have gone to war over a single woman, however beautiful, and
for ten long years at the?
There is both considerable and uncertain archaeological and written evidence to support the
occurrence of the famous Trojan War. Various sources have referred to a great war occurring in the
13th century involving the Greek city Mycenae and the successful independent city of Troy. The
discovery of archaeological evidence by various archaeologists such as Schliemann, Dorpfeld and
Korfmann support the theory that the Trojan war did in fact occur, expelling the uncertainty over
Troy s significance. In addition to this, there is an extreme amount of evidence to declare Mycenae
s motive and role within the war. However the unreliability of The Iliad places historical doubt on
Homer s views on the Trojan War. But although there is various inconsistencies in the evidence to
support

Chemical Reaction Of Mentos
The scope of this paper is to explain the reaction that takes place when Mentos are dropped into
Diet Coke. This experiment is used frequently because of what happens when the candy meets the
soda. A geyser is formed that shoots out of the bottle that resembles a volcanic eruption. Due to the
similarity, it is also used for volcanoprojects. Depending on the alterations to the Mentos and/or
Diet Coke, the geyser can either go much higher or much lower than normal.
This reaction has produced much confusion among people about whether it is a physical or
chemical reaction. It is a physical reaction because the substances remained the same, the reaction
did not form a new substance. (Coffey) What creates the physical reaction is water molecules that
go into the pores on the Mentos. The rough surface of Mentos allow this to happen. The water
molecules grow to create carbon dioxide bubbles on the outside of the candy. The Mentos gain
buoyancy, which means they rise to the surface of the soda. After this occurs, there is increased
bubble formation, resulting in the liquid turning to foam and shooting out of the bottle. Bubble
formation is also increased by the gum arabic and gelatin in the Mentos combining with the
potassium benzoate, sugar, and aspartame in the Diet Coke. (Hiskey, Mental Floss)
As stated above, there are alterations that speed the reaction. These include decreasing the surface
tension of the Diet Coke, performing an acid base reaction, and warming the Diet Coke.

Children s socio demographic features were also can be responsible for the vivid nature of internet

Internet can be considered as a global communication tool because of its popularity in adolescents
and as a source of health information. It can also be used by the school dropout to seek information

it can also be considered as a cultural tool kit as it can be shared as the information can be saved

Previous studies on cognitive change have typically employed self report inventories of cognitive
distortions, which limit the response options available to participants and focus on content rather
than process. What has not been attempted to date is to asses cognitions in a less restricted
manner and to examine the process of assimilation, accommodation, and overcoomodation. The
samples of battered women who are studies are almost exclusively made up of women who came
forward and sought help or shelter. These samples are probably not representative of battered or
raped women. They might be the most troubled of battered women or raped women, who sought
help because of their distress; or they may be the healthiest of battered women, who still have the
resources to seek services. The most distressed may not have requested help because they are
immobilized. Depending upon the formulation of which current samples represent, the
psychological distress of battering may be over or underestimated (Johnson, Beight, 2003).

depressing. The United States and Papua New Guinea are the only two countries in the world not to
mandate any form of paid maternity leavefor any period of time. This is a deplorable state of
affairs. It shows a marked disrespect of women s health by policy makers and corporations. In
1993, former president Bill Clinton signed the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) into law.
This act federally mandates that businesses must give at least 12 weeks of unpaid maternity leave
to new mothers. You might think at first that this is a good thing. Women can t get paid leave, but
at least they have some form of guaranteed leave from work right? Wrong. The Act only covers
women employed in businesses that have more than 50 employees. In addition, the new mothers
must have been employed at the same business for the past year and during that year she must
have worked at least 1250 hours. If any of these stipulations are not met, the company does not have

They argue that paid maternity leave will become a major monetary burden on the company.
Their argument could not be more wrong. Women who have good benefits are naturally more
likely to come back to their jobs after their leave ends. It only makes sense. If you ve been
treated well, you ve no reason to leave. This will increase the company s retention rate of high
performing women workers. In addition, there are other ways of funding paid maternity leave
than having companies pay out of pocket. In example, one suggested system is much like social
security. Companies and employees would pay a small portion monthly to be put into a bigger
pool of money that everyone could draw from to pay for maternity

Essay On The Nurse In Romeo And Juliet
In the tragedy play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, one of the main comical
characters is the Nurse who is an old lower class servant for the Capulet s. She wears a
houppelande (an outer clothing, with a long, full body and flaring sleeves) and is indicated to
be ugly and old by Mercutio in Act two scene four. In about the beginning of the play, the Nurse
appears to be a close friend and a mother figure to Juliet although she betrays her at the end when
telling her to forget Romeo and marry Paris. The Nurse has a very funny personality since she s
always making these inappropriate jokes. For example one of her dirty jokes are To fetch a ladder
by which your love Must climb a bird s nest soon when it s dark . Here she is telling Juliet about a
ladder that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To start, Shakespeare s opinion of what must be done for love is clear through the attempts the
Nurse makes to try and keep the relationship Romeo and Juliet were having a secret. The Nurse is
the only other person who knows about Romeo and Juliet s love for each other asides from Friar
Lawrence, she kept it a secret and supported Juliet s decisions even in times she didn t want to
out of her love for Juliet. The play Romeo and Juliet would not be able to function without the
Nurse in many ways. To start, the Nurse technically raised Juliet because of Lady Capulet s
absences if she wasn t around and some other servant or Juliet s mom raised Juliet, Juliet may
not be the person she is, she may never marry or even meet Romeo and the story would ve been
exclusively different. Secondly, the Nurse is a comical character which means she is a character
who makes the audience laugh in the play Romeo and Juliet with her inappropriate nurse jokes.
Also, Nurse acts as a go between for Romeo and Juliet without her the messages Romeo and Juliet
sent to each other would have gone

Salt Gases Essay
for the inclusion of gases in salt deposits are outlined shortly in the following. Fig. 2 16 shows
schematically the geological conditions in marginal areas of the Zechstein basin which provided
the prerequisites for the inclusion of gases: tectonic events created passage ways (fissures) through
the salt sequence, allowing gases and brines to escape from their host formations below the
consolidated and therefore impermeable salt sequences. When contacting potash beds, the brines
caused alterations of the potash beds, dissolving the most soluble potash minerals and precipitating
less soluble salts; as the result, carnallite was replaced by sylvite and halite. In cases where such
processes extended laterally into potash beds, sylvite was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Although gas inclusions in salt rocks are extremely important in some salt and potash mining
districts for their effects on mining operations, they received little attention in textbooks which
are now available in English translations, e.g., Borchert and Muir (1964) and Braitsch (1971).
This may be due to the fact that, at the time when the German originals were written, these
matters were still under controversial discussion; see Gimm and Pforr (1964) with contributions
by Obert, Ignatieff, Panek, Baar. More recent publications (e.g., Gimm, 1968) indicate that the
views expressed by Baar (1954d, 1958,1962) have been generally accepted. As the formation of
gas inclusions in salt rocks requires special conditions, as outlined, such inclusions are rare in
salt sequences without potash salts, as no reaction salts could form. This is the reason why the
salt domes of the Gulf Coast are free from gas inclusions, with the exception of some cases
where gases were occluded in recrystallizing halite, or secondary halite which may have
crystallized from migrating solutions due to cooling. In contrast, the salt domes of northern
Europe are loaded with pockets of salt rocks with abundant gas inclusions; as a matter of fact,
several potash mines were abandoned at the beginning of this century because of the problems
caused by gas outbursts (Gimm, 1968, p. 553). To date, no gas inclusions have been encountered in
the Prairie Evaporites, in spite of

Character Analysis Of Chalson s Flowers For Algernon
Charly (CHAРЇLY) is a science fiction drama film produced and directed by Ralph Nelson, which
has been adapted based on the novel Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes. The film was released
in September 1968 and was a hit at the box office. The film focuses around Charly s developing
character, who is a mentally retarded 30 year old man with a low IQ who can only do very simple
tasks. According to Roger Ebert,
He cheerfully inhabits a world that seems frightening to us. His barren room contains a
blackboard with the next day s tasks on it; he works as a janitor at a bakery where his friends
torment him. With heartbreaking persistence, he attends night classes and takes guided tours of the
city, but the things he learns all slip away and he has to keep starting again (Ebert).
Throughout the film, it is visible Charly s strong desire in growing more intelligent and all the effort
and determination he puts into it. The film plots distinctive themes and an extremely significant
symbol. The themes will be analyzed through the tension between intelligence and emotion and the
relationship between the mistreatment of disabled and alienation. The significant symbol in the
film is represented by the mouse Algernon. The themes are powerful features to the meaning of the
film. The tension between intellect and emotion plays a huge role in Charly s personality. Due to
his mental disability, Gordon is an extremely kind, truthful and sympathetic man. A great example

Essay On Silver Nanotechnology
Silver is known to be very efficient material since ancient times for its microbicidal properties to
treat diseases, such as, ulcer, chronic wounds, sepsis, acute epididymitis, tonsillitis, and infections
and to prevent the eye diseases in infants.1,2 But with the passage of time use of Ag is reduced due
to development of new antibiotics.3 However, an introduction of nanotechnology, nanoparticles
during the last decade have proved that this element can be used in almost every field of application
due to their tremendous behavior with reduction in size (high surface to volume ratio). Silver
nanoparticles have started to be used in various applications, such as, antimicrobial coatings, house

Silver nanoparticles show stronger antioxidant activity than synthetic commercial standards. A lot
of efforts have been made by researchers to synthesis Ag nanoparticles by various methods, such as,
chemical reduction,9 gamma ray radiation,10 electrochemical method,11 laser ablation,12
microwave13 and photochemical reduction.14 In recent years, the necessity of environmental
safety leads to the rising interest in biological approaches. Interestingly, green synthesis has proven
many advantages to synthesis AgNPs over any other approaches due to low cost, non toxicity,
repeatability, bulk production, environmental friendly, less time consuming, ease of synthesis,
avoiding capping agents used in chemical synthesis etc.15 Number of biological method to
synthesized metal nanoparticles are available in literature, such as, using microorganisms including
bacteria, fungi and plants.16,17 But this process involves the tedious procedure of maintaining
microbial cultures. The plant extracts give a good choice for synthesis of metal nanoparticles as
they are widely dispense, easily accessible and much safer to handle, nontoxic and provides a
natural capping agents. Plant extracts is also of great interest for its use in antioxidant activity as
plants contain a wide variety of free radicals scavenging molecules including phenols, flavonoids,
vitamins, terpenoids are rich in antioxidant activity.18 Plant extracts act reducing as well as

Essay on Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was probably the greatest genius in Western musical history. He was
born in Salzberg, Austria on January 27, 1756. The son of Leopold Mozart and his wife Anna
Maria Pertl. Leopold was a successful composer and violinist and assistant concertmaster at the
Salzberg court.
At the age of three, Wolfgang showed signs of remarkable musical talent. He learned to play the
harpsichord, a keyboard instrument related to the piano, at the age of four. Wolfgang began
composing minuets at the age of five. When he was only six years old, he and his older sister,
Anna Maria, embarked on a series of concert tours to Europe s courts and major cities. They played

Several of his twenty two operas gained worldwide recognition soon after his death, and they
still please audiences all over the world. The Marriage of Figaro (1786) and Don Giovanni
(1787) are operas he composed with words in Italian. The Magic Flute (1791) has German words.
Each of these contains arias (beautiful melodies for singers), recitative (Rapidly sung dialogue),
ensembles in which several people sing at the same time, and choruses. The orchestra provides an
ever changing expressive accompaniment. The drama ranges from comedy to tragedy. Mozart wrote
over forty symphonies, many of which are performed today. Some originally were overtures
(orchestral introductions) for operas, and last only a few minutes. His later symphonies, which are
the most popular, are full length orchestral compositions that last twenty to thirty minutes. Most of
them consist of four sections. Mozart s last and most famous symphony, Number 41 (1788), is
nicknamed the Jupiter.
Mozart composed a great amount of church music, most of it for performance at the Salzburg
Cathedral. He wrote Masses and shorter pieces called motets; and he set psalms to music,
especially for the afternoon or evening service. The music is beautiful and varied. It includes
choral and solo parts, usually with accompaniment by organ and orchestra. Mozart s best known
sacred work is the Requiem (Mass for the Dead). He began it in the last year of his life and

Death By Scrabble
Married, miserable, forty two year old man hates his wife and wishing her dead, his plan: a jinxed
game of scrabble.
In the enthralling short story, Death By Scrabble , by Charlie Fish, the use of suspense techniques
is very effective unquestionably creating a captivating, exciting and spine tingling story. The man s
hate for his wife and the unexpected ending compelling readers to read on.
First, the husband makes it noticeable of his hatred towards his wife and the desire to kill her.
For example, the forty two year old man thinks to himself The letters will tell me what to do. If
they spell out KILL, or STAB, or her name, or anything, I ll do it right now. I ll finish her off

This is proven towards the very end of the story My wife plays DEATH for 34 points, just as the
room starts to shake. I gasp with surprise and vindication and the B that I was chewing on gets
lodged in my throat... I try to cough. I fall to the floor. My wife just sits there, watching (Fish 3).
Suspense is created when readers find out that the wife is in on the game the entire time and killed
her husband before he could kill her. This ended the story with a major cliffhanger leaving readers
shocked and wanting more for the reason that readers got the notion from the text that the wife
would end up dead not the husband. This also showed that not only does the husband hate his wife
but that she hates him too.
As a result, Charlie Fish applied a diversity of suspense techniques forming an alluring and riveting
short story, Death By Scrabble in order for readers to empathize. In conclusion, the development of
suspense in this dark and hateful piece of literature leaves its readers stunned because of the dark

The Toursim Industry in South Africa
The tourism industry is a vast growing trade that in recent years has seen a significant increase in its
contribution to the GDP (Gross Domestic Product) of various respective countries. South Africa is
one of the countries that have witnessed tremendous growth in its tourism industry. As much as such
development is a very welcomed phenomenon for any country, growth and development is limited
by a number of constraints. Of importance to this particular study is the issue of seasonality in the
tourismindustry.
Seasonality is defined as the fluctuation of situations that has a direct effect on one or more
variables. (McCarthy 1994:275).According to an article by strathprints journals (www.stathprints
/journals, 25 April) seasonality in tourism has traditionally been regarded as a major problem
which needs to be overcome, but relatively little research has been conducted on the patterns or
causes of this phenomenon.
The question this study aims to unfold is:
What effect does the seasonal nature of the tourism industry have on the providers of components
of the tourism industry, as well as on unemployment in Mbombela?
The aims and objectives of the study are:
To investigate the negative effects seasonality has on the tourism industry in Mbombela.
To highlight the differences in the rates of employment associated with different points within the
seasonal cycle.
To highlight the internal changes enforced by service providers in the tourism industry as a result of

  • 2. Essay on Scotland and England While many people in England believe that the Scottish are beneficial to their union. The Scottish people believe that their way of life and culture is at risk of becoming an English one, and for the reason, many Scots want independence. This is a good thing because it will be the first time in a very long time that the Scottish people will have a voice of their own, and choose their own fate as a nation. First off, we will start with how and why Scotland joined with the English to form the United Kingdom, and the Darien Venture and why it put Scotland in near collapse and total economic devastation. Second, we will discuss why both sides agreed to the Acts of Union 1706 1707. Third, we will go over the English and Scottish perspectives of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So, Scotland had to fund the project by itself, the Scottish crown accumulated a massive sum of gold, one fifth of the entire wealth of Scotland, put it all aboard a ship and sent off a troupe of two thousand and five hundred Scotsmen who eventually landed on the shores of Panama just over one hundred days. They then named the new Scottish colony New Caledonia and immediately discovered some very large problems with their plan: First off, on the western side of Panama, the mountains were a lot larger than expected, making overland trade completely impossible. Even if they built a canal, the technology to do so was still hundreds of years away. Second, the Scottish goods made of wool brought to trade with the locals was absolutely useless in the perpetual heat and humidity of South America. Third, the Spanish had already planted their flags on the beaches of Panama and many other parts of South America, and they were not that grateful to see the Scots arrive. And finally, without necessary supplies, diseases such as Dysentery spread quite quickly. Two full years persisted and with the cost of two thousand dead Scotsmen, they eventually abandoned their project. However, this was not the first failed attempt at Scottish empiricism early Scottish colonies have been tried and eventually abandoned in Nova Scotia, New Jersey, and Carolina, but the ordeal with ... • 5. Integrated Healthcare Marketing Strategies Integrated Healthcare Marketing Strategies Introduction The creation and execution of promotional and communications strategies are by definition today multichannel and multimedia in scope. Combining both online and offline forms of media, the best practices in integrated marketing communications includes digital media that is inherently more measurable than offline counterparts, with offline media that is more agile from a messaging standpoint (Finne, Strandvik, 2012). The accuracy and precision of measurement that online marketing channels and platforms provide, in addition to the more immediate response generated from programs, is leading to digital media being the majority of integrated marketing communications spending globally (Reinold, Tropp, 2012). This has significant implications on the ethicacy of advertising for healthcare products, as customers demand more authenticity and transparency through these online channels (Bernoff, Li, 2008). The pervasive use of social media is re ordering the balance of power between customer and marketer roles in the marketplace (Finne, Strandvik, 2012). These are all factors healthcare marketers need to keep in mind when designing their strategic marketing plans. Bringing Ethicacy Into Integrated Marketing Plans For any health related product, the integrated marketing communications strategy needs to first concentrate on the entire customer experience and be cognizant of their needs while striving for complete authenticity ... Is it realistic? written by Beau Dure discusses the interview held by CBS s 60 Minutes about the USA women s national soccer team s drive for equal pay. There have been scarce meetings between US soccer and representatives for the women s team, and even less knowledge of what is being discussed within these meetings. As of now all that anyone knows for sure is that the women s team current deal is coming to an end. Dure points out that the debate at hand includes all forms of equality between the US men s team and the US women s team; such as equality in pay, travel amenities, and field location accessibility. However, while there are many parts to this debate Dure choses to focus on the difference in pay. Dure emphasizes the difference in the payment systems, bonuses for championships, and gap between two star players that play the same position. • 10. Artificial Sweetener Vs Coke Essay Results and Discussion In this experiment, aspects of the scientific method were introduced and the significance of the process of gathering measurements during an experiment were illustrated through the use of a diverse set of glassware: graduated cylinder, volumetric pipette, and burette. These unique measuring instruments played a role in concluding the densities of the two soft drinks, Coke and Diet Coke, and whether or not a statistical difference existed between the two substances. Conversely, the resulting densities determined by each of the differing glassware were assessed and compared to each other in terms of accuracy and precision, with the most precise tool that produced consistent similar results, deduced. With regards to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, what was not mentioned was how the ingredients specifically contribute. When analyzing the key ingredients of Coke and Diet Coke, sugar and artificial sweetener, respectively, equal amounts of each product produces different levels of sweetness, with artificial sweeteners being over a hundred times sweeter than natural sugars.1 As a result, in order to produce a similar level of taste between the two soft drinks, a large amount of sugar is added into Coke, in comparison to no sugar, and a small amount of sweetener in Diet Coke. Thus contributing to a greater mass of Coke, and therefore a greater density, despite the equal volumes of both soft drinks. Consequently, if the volume increased by a doubled amount under similar experimental conditions where temperature and pressure remained constant, the density of the soda would not be expected to change due to density being an intensive property that is a ratio between the mass over the volume of a substance.2 As an intensive property, density, under similar experimental conditions, will be the same without regards to the amount presented. Doubling the volume would only serve to punctuate the concept, considering how dividing two extensive properties, mass and volume, that are directly proportional to the quantity of a substance, will cancel out the quantity dependence, resulting in a ratio that is similar each ... • 11. Assess The Role Of The Anti Hero In Hannibal Filled with determination to act upon a self fulfilling goal that benefits the greater good in some way, the anti hero serves as the protagonist of the story. Though the anti hero may seem to be the villain they are not, at worst they are delusional but never evil. Often formed from tragedy and occasionally psychotic the anti herois an important archetype in the area of storytelling. The anti hero the protagonist with an unjust cause that happens to benefit the greater good. An anti hero is not a role model or someone to look up to; often they are just the opposite. Rough, tough, filled with rage, seeking only revenge or other similar disturbed moral justices. However, through all of this they are the best choice for a victor. An example of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One difference is though Hannibal and Dexter are both serial killers Hannibal kills for the enjoyment of killing. He kills his victims without care and then cannibalizes them. This serves only his purposes and there is no greater good that Hannibal is achieving by his actions. This gives Hannibal the role of the villain, though the audience may become infatuated with him perhaps because of his charisma or otherwise he is still without a doubt the villain. On the other hand, Dexter takes great care in selecting his victims. He seeks out those who are deserving of justice and delivers it in the way the he best knows how. Capturing his victims and forcing them to face their sins before death. What happens afterward shows one of Dexter s greatest character flaws. Once his victim expires they are chopped into many small pieces with great care taken in how the cuts are arranged and then a small trophy is taken in the form of a drop of blood. This is one of the greatest examples of how flawed a character can be and still be called an anti hero. While Dexter is preforming this ritual for his own gain he does not kill without reason or purpose, and that reason, his purpose to kill is to help rid the world of its filth and violent crime. Taking all of this into account we can plainly see the difference between the villain of the story and the anti hero archetype. Villains like King Claudius and Hannibal Lecter only seek to serve themselves and they are not concerned with what and who they must destroy to achieve their goals. While anti heroes like Hamlet and Dexter will do morally questionable things but they always whether intentional or not have a greater purpose they will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 12. Rhetorical Analysis Of Pericles Speech Pericles begins his speech with respect and impassivity while honoring the ancestors of Athens. I shall begin with our ancestors, he explains, it is both just and proper that they should have the honour of the first mention on an occasion like the present. They dwelt in the country without a break in the succession from generation to generation, and handed it down free to the present time by their value (Thucydides). When Periclesmentions the ancestors of the Athenians, he reels his audience in and captures their attention. Athens is considered to be the most civilized society on Earth at this time, but even so, the Athenians are very humble. When compared to their enemies, such as the Spartans, Athens is much more advanced, humane, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In generosity, we are equally singular, acquiring our friends by conferring, not by receiving, favours (Thucydides). The claimed kind, favor oriented nature of Athens shown here must have been a point of pride for the people. It contrasts against the militaristic nature of the Spartans and the Persian Empire. This line earned praise from Pericles audience not because of his Athenian audience, but because of the honor it gave to the fallen Athenian soldiers. At this point, Pericles concludes his glorification of Athenian culture. In short, I say that as a city we are the school of Hellas (Greece), while I doubt if the world can produce a man, who where he has only himself to depend upon, is equal to so many emergencies, and graced by so happy a versatility, as the Athenian. And that this is no mere boast thrown out for the occasion, but plain matter of fact, the power of the state acquired by these habits proves (Thucydides). Speaker notes: It is the ability for a person to determine some or all of his actions. Some consider free will to be its own cause. Some consider free will to be independent of any other causation, predestination, or predetermination by any other person, event, or stimulus. Of course, this does not make sense since a person is free to do as he/she wants but what he/she wants can only be consistent with his own nature. Perhaps in understanding, a workable solution will be found and hunger will be a thing of the past. One of the injustices he attempted to right was the starvation of the poorest of the Cuban people. Castro was a Marxist and a socialist. He believed that each man woman and child was entitled to the things that make life possible. The world s wealthiest countries can afford to build weaponry that can wipe entire peoples so that it is like they never lived. Estrogens have several established neural actions that are predicted to contribute its theorized protective role against cognition decline. These neuroprotective actions fall into three general categories: (1) improved cognition via regulation of various processes including spine density, long term potentiation, and neurotransmitter systems, (2) protection against neuron cell death, and (3) inhibition of select aspects of AD neuropathology including AОІ accumulation and tau hyperphosphorylation. The ability of estrogens to reduce AОІ accumulation may be their most important neuroprotective action against cognition decline. As mentioned previously, AОІ formation from APP mediated by two pathways either amyloid genic or non amyloid genic routes. If the production of low levels of soluble APP alpha by non amyloid genic route and factors influence amyloid genic processing of APP or a reduction in the AОІ clearance pathways can lead to accumulation of AОІ, which in turn promotes assembly of the AОІ peptides into toxic oligomers and large insoluble fibrils that can affect brain neurons. This process can be prevented by estrogen and following menopause the decline in estrogen may then result in cognition decline due to the deposit of insoluble AОІ ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Lack of self confidence is more often than not something developed during childhood and adolescence. It is something that quietly and subconsciously informs all of our actions and perceptions. Those who have tried cognitive behavioural therapy or CBT often admit feeling a bit disappointed at the treatments ability to tackle these deep, nebulous issues of self worth and self confidence. But the real question is, was homer a real person? Certainly heroes, from Achilles to Hector, are portrayed so credibly that is easy to believe the story is based from true events. But is it truly an account based on real events? And were the main characters actually real people? Would the ancient worlds equivalent of the entire nation of Greece really have gone to war over a single woman, however beautiful, and for ten long years at the? There is both considerable and uncertain archaeological and written evidence to support the occurrence of the famous Trojan War. Various sources have referred to a great war occurring in the 13th century involving the Greek city Mycenae and the successful independent city of Troy. The discovery of archaeological evidence by various archaeologists such as Schliemann, Dorpfeld and Korfmann support the theory that the Trojan war did in fact occur, expelling the uncertainty over Troy s significance. In addition to this, there is an extreme amount of evidence to declare Mycenae s motive and role within the war. However the unreliability of The Iliad places historical doubt on Homer s views on the Trojan War. But although there is various inconsistencies in the evidence to support ... • 37. Chemical Reaction Of Mentos The scope of this paper is to explain the reaction that takes place when Mentos are dropped into Diet Coke. This experiment is used frequently because of what happens when the candy meets the soda. A geyser is formed that shoots out of the bottle that resembles a volcanic eruption. Due to the similarity, it is also used for volcanoprojects. Depending on the alterations to the Mentos and/or Diet Coke, the geyser can either go much higher or much lower than normal. This reaction has produced much confusion among people about whether it is a physical or chemical reaction. It is a physical reaction because the substances remained the same, the reaction did not form a new substance. (Coffey) What creates the physical reaction is water molecules that go into the pores on the Mentos. The rough surface of Mentos allow this to happen. The water molecules grow to create carbon dioxide bubbles on the outside of the candy. The Mentos gain buoyancy, which means they rise to the surface of the soda. After this occurs, there is increased bubble formation, resulting in the liquid turning to foam and shooting out of the bottle. Bubble formation is also increased by the gum arabic and gelatin in the Mentos combining with the potassium benzoate, sugar, and aspartame in the Diet Coke. (Hiskey, Mental Floss) As stated above, there are alterations that speed the reaction. These include decreasing the surface tension of the Diet Coke, performing an acid base reaction, and warming the Diet Coke. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although they both have a tropical climate and plentiful access to seawater, the true answer is much more depressing. The United States and Papua New Guinea are the only two countries in the world not to mandate any form of paid maternity leavefor any period of time. This is a deplorable state of affairs. It shows a marked disrespect of women s health by policy makers and corporations. In 1993, former president Bill Clinton signed the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) into law. This act federally mandates that businesses must give at least 12 weeks of unpaid maternity leave to new mothers. You might think at first that this is a good thing. Women can t get paid leave, but at least they have some form of guaranteed leave from work right? Wrong. The Act only covers women employed in businesses that have more than 50 employees. Fig. 2 16 shows schematically the geological conditions in marginal areas of the Zechstein basin which provided the prerequisites for the inclusion of gases: tectonic events created passage ways (fissures) through the salt sequence, allowing gases and brines to escape from their host formations below the consolidated and therefore impermeable salt sequences. When contacting potash beds, the brines caused alterations of the potash beds, dissolving the most soluble potash minerals and precipitating less soluble salts; as the result, carnallite was replaced by sylvite and halite. In cases where such processes extended laterally into potash beds, sylvite was... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although gas inclusions in salt rocks are extremely important in some salt and potash mining districts for their effects on mining operations, they received little attention in textbooks which are now available in English translations, e.g., Borchert and Muir (1964) and Braitsch (1971). This may be due to the fact that, at the time when the German originals were written, these matters were still under controversial discussion; see Gimm and Pforr (1964) with contributions by Obert, Ignatieff, Panek, Baar. More recent publications (e.g., Gimm, 1968) indicate that the views expressed by Baar (1954d, 1958,1962) have been generally accepted. As the formation of gas inclusions in salt rocks requires special conditions, as outlined, such inclusions are rare in salt sequences without potash salts, as no reaction salts could form. This is the reason why the salt domes of the Gulf Coast are free from gas inclusions, with the exception of some cases where gases were occluded in recrystallizing halite, or secondary halite which may have crystallized from migrating solutions due to cooling. In contrast, the salt domes of northern Europe are loaded with pockets of salt rocks with abundant gas inclusions; as a matter of fact, several potash mines were abandoned at the beginning of this century because of the problems caused by gas outbursts (Gimm, 1968, p. 553). The film was released in September 1968 and was a hit at the box office. The film focuses around Charly s developing character, who is a mentally retarded 30 year old man with a low IQ who can only do very simple tasks. According to Roger Ebert, He cheerfully inhabits a world that seems frightening to us. His barren room contains a blackboard with the next day s tasks on it; he works as a janitor at a bakery where his friends torment him. With heartbreaking persistence, he attends night classes and takes guided tours of the city, but the things he learns all slip away and he has to keep starting again (Ebert). Throughout the film, it is visible Charly s strong desire in growing more intelligent and all the effort and determination he puts into it. The film plots distinctive themes and an extremely significant symbol. The themes will be analyzed through the tension between intelligence and emotion and the relationship between the mistreatment of disabled and alienation. The significant symbol in the film is represented by the mouse Algernon. The themes are powerful features to the meaning of the film. Each of these contains arias (beautiful melodies for singers), recitative (Rapidly sung dialogue), ensembles in which several people sing at the same time, and choruses. The orchestra provides an ever changing expressive accompaniment. The drama ranges from comedy to tragedy. Mozart wrote over forty symphonies, many of which are performed today.
