Development Theory And Jean Jacques Rousseau s Theory Of...
Four well known theorists each created their own ideas on how children develop mentally and
physically, how they learn from others and the conceptual of what they are like when they are first
brought into the world. Through research and their own experience, these scientists challenged the
current beliefs of their time on two topics: active and reactive development and constant or ever
changing development. The philosopher John Locke supported reactive development where
children developed completely based on what was happening in their life and growth was constant.
In his eyes, society determined how a baby boy or girl would mature and has stages that can
provide an advance declaration of their physical and mental growth in the following years. However,
the philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau supported active development and ever changing
development. To Rousseau, kids progress in how they think and look is set in stages where each
stage is not the same as the last. Each theory is based on an angle different from the others that
affect the researches questions, processes and interpretation: psychoanalytic, learning, cognitive,
contextual and evolutionary. The physician Sigmund Freud created the concept psychoanalytic
theory and also accepted reactive development and discontinuous growth. Freud created the id, ego
and superego personality components that determined how society ruled our lives. This way of
thinking gave birth to psychosexual development where there are five

Theme Of Names In Song Of Solomon
Jack Noble
Mr. Fusco
10/13/17
Song of Solomon Names Names are apart of all cultures and have major significance to the
recipients of the name and further to the society as a whole. People are identified by the name
provided to them at birth. This such name can be derived from a variety of different origins,
depending heavily upon what ethnicity, or culture the child is born into. A parent provides their
child with a name that they believe has some kind of significance, or a deeper symbolic meaning to
their family. Throughout one s life, they might acquire a number of nicknames. Nicknames can
reflect how others perceive a certain person, or even how that person views himself, inferring either
a positive or negative connotation. In Songs of Solomon, many characters have names that provide
a deeper insight on their true identity in the novel. Whether the character is trying to escape the
reality of their name or not, the name itself still establishes truth behind theirs actions and who they
came from. Names in Song of Solomon ultimately establish a character s behavioral traits and
cultural background, advancing the direction of the novel.
In the novel, many of the characters are provided with names of either biblical or mythological
descent. These such names provide insight as to the identity of the character in the novel and
further the purpose of the character in the progression of the plot. Many of the children s names
were chosen at birth by sticking a pin into the

Heterosexua s Argument Against Homosexual Adoption
A child enters foster care every two minutes. Meaning by the end of this speech, at least three
children will have entered. In 2012 there were about 397 thousand children in foster care. In 2014
there was almost 416 thousand. And the number keeps rising. In 2016 the number is supposed to
rise 4%. While it may not seem much a 4 percent rise will make it almost 432 thousand. Almost
twenty thousand more children will be in foster care. Which is why Homosexual couples should be
allowed to adopt. With this many children in foster there is a need for parents that only straight
parents cannot fill.
While straight parents may have oops babies, or accidents , this does not occur with homosexual
parents. Most gay couples have a plan to have babies, whether chose to try and adopt, find
surrogates or sperm donors, or use other methods. After having to go through such acts, gay couples
tend to be more motivated, and more committed to their children than ... Show more content on

Many people are close minded and think the only acceptable home is one with a mother and a
father that are married to each other, they may think that children need a mother and father for
proper male and female role models, or even children raised by gay parents are more likely to be
gay themselves. Whether you believe this to be true or not, the children that need to be adopted do
not have parents at all. While many may say that being in foster care is better than being adopted
by a homosexual family that is not true. Not all foster care families are warm and fuzzy. In many
cases, foster families will abuse the children or take the money given to them by the state for the
children and use it for themselves. And over the matter of whether they turn gay or not, isn t it
better for them to have families and homes than that they stay in foster care until they are lucky
and a couple adopts them or until they turn 18 and are forced out of foster

Design Nosql Systems For Data Persisence And...
Introduction
This report basically describes the process of design NoSQL systems for data persisence and
implementation of design and the solution of tasks that we are required. The dataset we worked
with is a music dataset from lastfm and the designs for MongoDB, HBase and Neo4j are based on
the dataset features and given queries. The implementation includes creating databases, setting up
the schema and running queries, followed by testing the performance. There are also iteration
designs for each system in order to gain higher performance.
The report contains five sections. A brief introduciton is showing here and each system has two
sections to demonstrate the schema and query design. At the end of the report, a section for ... Show

Schema2 is consist of three collections : UserArtistInfo , Friends , and Artist . UserArtistInfo
collection has fields of UserID, ArtistID, ArtistName, Weight, Tag YN, TagId, TagValue,
TimeStamp and does not structured as a embedded document. Like a RDBMS, each row has
independent information of a user artist weight tag which is easier to update and read. Artist
collection is set aside due to its rare usage. Friends collection is also created separately to be linked
(joined) when it needs to be.
The data structure of schema 1 and schema 2 are same as below Figure3.

Query Design
The given 8 queries can be distinctively divided into two parts: one needs a join function with 2
collections, while another needs not. As query 1, 7, 8 requires user friends relationship, it needs
join function executed by join aggregation commands ($lookup). On the other hand, the other
queries (2,3,4,5,6) can be carried out by using only UserArtistInfo collection. Furthermore, simple
queries such as query 2 and 4 does not necessarily need aggregation pipeline, in the mean while
query 1,3,5,6,7,8 need aggregation pipeline which is more complex using the syntax of $lookup ,
$unwind , $match , $group , $project , $sort , and $limit .

Professors also can use some programs to mark the exams in addition it can reduce the error rate.
When professors talk about cheating or stolen, students can know the bad affects of losing the

behavior. Students can learn morality from professors to form their own self control and use it to

World Health Organization Website Critique
World Health Organization Website Critique
The World Health Organization, also known as WHO, is a global company that directs and puts
into practice international health. There are offices in 150 countries around the world that all
work for a common goal. Their main purposes are to promote health, prevent and control disease,
and respond to crisis . The fact that the WHO oversees such a large area, it is extremely
important that their website is clear, informational, and accessible to everyone. Overall, the
website was very accessible and easy to navigate. The home page included tabs at the top labeled
Health Topics, Data, and Media Centre to name a few. These tabs are helpful for the reader to find
what they are looking for and may lead them to explore other topics that they weren t necessarily
looking for also. There is a convenient button along this row of tabs that looks like a house. This
tab brings the navigator right back to this home page if they get too far into a certain tab and want
to go back to the beginning.
Even without these tabs, the home page provides a large amount of information itself. To the
right there is an Outbreaks and Emergencies category that talks about recent crisis like the Haiti
hurricane. The Haiti tab talks about what is being done to prevent Cholera in Haiti. Since Cholera
can be spread by dirty water and improper hygiene, the Haitians are at high risk for getting Cholera
and spreading it rapidly especially because most of them are

Philosophy Of Christian Education
All Scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in
righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work (2
Timothy 3:16 17). Throughout the Bible, God mentions the importance of teaching children and
young adults the message of God s Word. The Bible equips us for our everyday lives of service.
One of the ways we can assist parents in this task of teaching their children is through Christian
education. , I have formed a philosophy of education using the light of God s Word and research
from psychologyscholars like Piaget, Maslow, and Vygotsky. From these scholars, research, and
God s Word, I know the uniqueness of each learner and the role of caregivers and parents... Show

God has given children caregivers as their first teacher. God says in Deuteronomy 6:6 7, These
commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children.
Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and
when you get up. Parents are responsible for teaching their children God s truth and teachers are
blessed to be entrusted to help parents accomplish this task. As a teacher, my goal is not to replace
the caregiver s instruction of their children, but instead I want to be a helper in the education of
their child. I need to be the support and encouragement for caregivers to help them teach their
children. One way I can help the parents is by communicating what is happening in the classroom
and about what their child has accomplished. I can be available to talk to parents whenever they
need me. Open communication is one of the best ways I can support parents. Some examples of this
communication could be through conferences, emails, text messages, and phone calls. Parents can
support the teacher by helping their student love learning. If a parent is excited about what is
happening at school, the child may be more excited. In addition parents can help by communicating
with the teacher anything about the child that may be helpful. Caregivers know so much more
about the student than the teacher will,

UB Application Essay
Where are you from?
I am from Queens, NY.
What made you choose to attend UB?
As a student at Nassau Community College, my main goals were to find a school with a nationally
competitive engineering program and clear sustainability focused goals. UB checked those boxes
for me all while offering an affordable tuition and diverse student body.
What do you like best about studying engineering?
The student clubs. There are a lot of student led engineering clubs at UB where you can find your
own niche within the large UB community. As an executive board member of UB s National
Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) and an active member of the American Institute of Chemical
Engineers (AIChE), I constantly meet new people that positively enhance my UB experience.

many more to give back to the community now and in the future.
Have your classes and UB in general met your expectation?
Yes. Coming to UB as a transfer student, I did have very high expectations of what I wanted to
gain from being here. A year later, I am pleased to say that those expectations have been met and
exceeded. My classes are all taught by great professors who always welcome interactions with
students. I have also been involved in undergraduate research within the Chemical and Biological
Engineering department for the past 9 months. The presence of many extracurricular activities has
been pleasing.
Describe your ideal job post graduation.
My ideal job is to work as a Materials or Process engineer in an alternative energy company. Long
term, my dream is to obtain a Masters in Engineering Management or Chemical Engineering and
eventually move into a managerial position. Most important to me, however, is being in a position
to be able to actively contribute to the world s search for more sustainable energy

Injury to the glomerulus and the tubules presents the onset of Intra renal failure (Matzke, 2011).
Some of the frequent causes for Intra renal failure are glomerulonephritis; pyelonephritis; and
tubular injury. Post renal failure develops from things like ureteroliths, tumors, or anatomic
impediments. Opposite of the acute form, the chronic form has a slow onset that has no early stage
symptoms. It is important to know that following an acute episode a chronic renal episode often
follows, and at this juncture the damage is irreversible. Glomerulonephritis and pyelonephritis
combined, has been reported to be the forerunner in as much as half the cases from acute to chronic
renal failure. Diabetes mellitus, renal vascular disease, such as atherosclerosis, hypertension,
polycystic kidney disease, drug damage, and nephrolith are all examples of other causes of
CKD (Pradeep, 2014). Biopsies of kidneys that suffered with CKD reveal smaller kidneys with
scarring on the tubules. Causes of kidney disease are wide ranging in number; however diabetes,
high blood pressure, inherited disease, and infection remain to be the contenders of cause
(Davidson, 2011). Acute kidney disease can be identified by anuria and oedema. CKD is often
called a silent killer, because instead of a sign, that would render immediate evidence, CKD only
provides symptoms that many don t know to correlate to renal issues. The symptoms may also

Examples Of Sacrifice In The Veldt
People can make sacrifices in many different ways. Sometimes, sacrifices aren t intentional or
bring unwanted consequences. Although each of these sacrifices are different, whether it s a
sacrifice of a relationship, a character s faith, or the more literal sacrifice of a person, in each case
the sacrificegets more than it gives. The Veldt by Ray Bradbury is a book set in the future, in
which your house can virtually take care of your family by itself. This ultimately made the kids in
the story, Peter and Wendy, replace their parents with the nursery, making it far more important than
their real parents. This caused the kids to despise their parents. When George and Lydia went into

Mulholland Drive Movie Essay
Mulholland Drive, directed by David Lynch, is a film that plays heavily on the idea of
disillusionment. Lynch incinerates the viewers expectations for this storyline by revealing to us
that the everything we have seen was part of some elaborate fantasy, three quarters into movie. The
film uses editing to generate emotions and ideas through the construction of patterns and seeing,
hinting towards the films unconventionality. The casting couch scene in the film in which Betty
has her first audition made me feel uncomfortable and off gaurs, as this character who is presented
as innocent suddenly sexualizes herself in order to get a role in Hollywood. The overall acting up

The reading brings up how Scottie s transformations of Judy is reflective of the transformation of
stars, specifically highlighting male dominance. However, Lynch takes a different approach in
which he rejects the Hollywood obsession with masculinity just as he rejects linear formatting.
Lynch takes a similar approach to creating a film on the premise of disillusionment, but he tries
to modernize the story in ways that add to the complexity while being more overtly explicit then
Hitchcock could have been during his time. One quote from Shetley s analysis which really
made sense in explaining this film to me is when he says: [a]s much as her lesbian inclination,
movie love is a forbidden desire that keeps Diane on the outside of Hollywood, where no one
who genuinely loves movies gets to make them, where only those who instrumentalize both
women and movies are allowed access. Here Shetley is saying that Lynch is perhaps reflecting on
his experiences in Hollywood and conveys this truth by showing Diane s harsh reality. This
character of Diane is so tormented by her love for Camilla and her desire to be a successful actress
that it pushes her to the extremes, causing her to orchestrate Camilla s death before eventually

My Sperm Fever Case Study Answers
7_Why is My Sperm Yellow? (1000 Words) When sperm is white, it is considered to be in a
healthy state. Mild yellow discoloration may be present and should not be a cause for concern.
That said, if your sperm is deep yellow or green in hue, then you may want to speak with a
medical professional for diagnosis and treatment. Other symptoms may be present as well, so it is
important to note any associated experiences to better answer the questions that your doctor may
ask. Why is My Sperm Yellow?Common Causes 1. Urine Dehydration and improper fluid

The semen is old and likely discolored because of urine mixing. There is no reason to be
concerned about this, as there is no biological reason to frequently ejaculate. If you are
concerned about a potential reaction of a sexual partner, then relieve yourself a few days before
intercourse. Treatments for Yellow Sperm 1. Hydration Be certain to adjust your fluid
consumption. Increase the amount of water that you drink each day. You should attempt to
drink a gallon of water every day. Your boy uses water in nearly every process, and your sperm
cells and seminal fluid require water to be healthy and properly colored. Reduce consumption of
soda, coffee, energy drinks and any other fluid that is processed, dyed and filled with additional
sugars. This will not only decrease this discoloration, but it will also help you maintain a healthy
lifestyle. 2. Alcohol and Tobacco Immediately stop consuming alcohol and tobacco products. These
poisons can reduce the quality of your sperm. They may cause discoloration and odor. Excessive
consumption of these drugs may also cause fertility problems in the future. Instead of relying on
these crutches, attempt to strengthen old relationships and make new ones. This will help you end
your reliance on these

Blanche Dubois Intrigue
Performance I performed the excerpt by putting on a softer and lower voice to resemble Blanche
s, and also moved my arms around to show my character s deep distress. Analysis of Excerpt
Blanche explains her difficulties in life through an idea which pairs softness with attractiveness.
She portrays herself as a victim of the demands that the weak be attractive. But the truth is that
the abuse and complexities of life have forced Blanche to toughen up. Her use of the phrase turn
the trick is a significant line in the excerpt, being an old idiom implying promiscuous
relationships. Here she is referring to her dark and shameful incidents that occurred after her
husband s death, which she kept hidden from Stella. Tennessee Williams uses symbolism and
imagery to help convey the idea that Blanche is deceptive, egotistical and seductive. For example,
wearing a white dress in this scene deceives people of being innocent and pure. As Blanche feels
she must be devious in order to withstand the challenges in a world that she is fading now . Women

Essay On Video Games
There is this new video game I have started playing. It s called Player Unknown s Battlegrounds.
This game is a multiplayer shooter in which a hundred players parachute onto an island and fight
to the death. When you first land, you got to find weapons, ammunition, or any supplies that
might aid you. You can either play solo, in a duo, or run with a squad of four people. The main
goal is to be the last man or group standing. First, you have to pick how you re going to play;
either by yourself, with someone else, or with a group. If you are not playing with friends that you
know, you might not wantto play duo or squads. You will be at a disadvantage when matched up

you want to do is look for support items like first aid kits and bandages. When you take damage,
these items let you recover lost health. You can also get boosters like painkillers and energy
drinks. These items boost movement speed and slowly regain a little bit of health. Once you got
all your gear, it s time to start moving towards the circle. There s a large white circle called the
Playzone. There is a blue circle that slowly closes in on the white circle that deals damage to
anyone caught in it. The way the game works is that the circle closes in to force players to
engage each other. Whenever the circle gets smaller, you want to hustle and make sure you are
in the middle. Either hide in a house or in a bush. Never engage anyone unless you are sure that
you are able to eliminate them because other players will be drawn to you. Just play it cool and
don t panic when you see people. Also, there is supply drops that parachute into the game. They
emit red smoke to let you see where they are. These drops contain top notch gear, but they attract
plenty of players so be careful. A good strategy is to watch of the supply drop instead of looting it
that way you can pick off players going to it if you choose so. Finally, when there is about twenty
players left, things start to get tense. Since the circle is so small at this point, there is going

Exploring the Disorder, Tourette Syndrome Essay
Tourette syndrome is a neurological disorder first described by a French physician named
Georges Gilles de la Tourette, in 1885. Tourette syndrome (TS) consists of varies abrupt, rapid,
involuntary, and repeated movements or vocal sounds, known as tics. Until 1970, TS was
frequently misdiagnosed as schizophrenia, obsessive compulsive disorder, epilepsy, or nervous
habits, concluding that this mental disorder is extremely rare and has similar characteristics as
other mental disorders (Kahn and Fawcett 375). Since there is no specific test that can diagnose
TS, doctors have to rely on a person s behaviors and personal history to identify the disorder.
About one person in two thousand people is likely to have TS; additionally males are four... Show

Many people often misunderstand TS as rudeness, offensive behavior, and even craziness. Thus,
children with TS are often ridiculed or teased by their fellow peers. Due to this, many children
avoid social gathering and suffer from depression or substance abuse. This is one of the many
reasons why children with tics should be informed of their disorder and should receive
tremendous amounts of support and love from their friends and families. People with TS are
also likely to have other mental problems like depression, anxiety, OCD, ADHD, and self
injurious behaviors. As mentioned above, TS can occur in anyone, even famous people. Some
of the famous people that had TS were Jim Eisenreich, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Marc
Summers. TS does not disable a person from working efficiently or living a perfectly normal life.
People with TS can attend and succeed school just as a normal person can. The disorder does not
affect their intelligence or their ability to learn, thus enabling them to live a perfectly normal life.
They have the same earning potential, intelligence, and working ability similar to any other
person. One of the best ways to cope with TS is to remember that the tics usually lessen in
severity as an individual gets older. Tics usually reach its highest potential during early teens to the
middle years of adolescence. If a person with TS

Tragic Hero In Seize The Day
A good number of critics have evaluated Tommy Wilhelm regarding his drawbacks only and have
settled him as a complete failure. Many of them have given him the title of an anti hero. But they
have failed to see the luminous traits of Tommy s character. Tommy, though a failure, possesses
some rare human qualities alien to the denizens of waste land like western civilization rendered arid
and vapid by Mammon worship. The focal point, in this study, is to establish the fact that in spite of
having various negative and un heroic qualities, Tommy, by defying social structure and network,
asserts his non conformity which, along with his humanity, love and philanthropy, aversion for
power and material success and most importantly, his power of overcoming... Show more content on

He writes, In fiction the unnerving rubric anti hero refers to a ragged assembly of victims: the fool,
the clown, the hipster, the criminal, the poor soul, the freak, the outsider, the scapegoat, the scrubby
opportunist, the rebel without a cause, the hero in the ashcan and hero on the lash . Viewed from
the perspective of this definition, we see that Tommy Wilhelm, the protagonist of Saul Bellows
masterpiece Seize the Day seems to be an anti hero. Wilhelm like other Bellovian heroes has the
fatal flaws inherent in his personality; he is an alienated individual living on the margin of the
society (Obaidulla Ahmed, 2001, p.76). Bellow s writing puts a lot of emphasis on the themes of
the individual versus society and individual in self conflict. In his writing, society is always
portrayed as impersonal, mechanical and indifferent to individuals (Dutton, 1982, p.1). In that cruel

How Plot and Character Affect the Experience of Tragic Art
The experience of tragic art can be determined through the plot setup, the type of tragedy, and how
the plot appeals to the audience. Aristotle incorporated distinct rules in his passage about how a
plot should be arranged. He indicates that a tragedy must contain a prologue, episode, exode, and a
choral portion... (Aristotle, 2324), but does a plot need to be so planned? The plot should have
some structure, but it should also flow naturally and freely. If there is too much planning in the
plot, then the storyline will be too predictable. New ideas and turning points should be part of
the story in order to keep the audience on their toes. The scenes of the plot can be about realistic
events or about imaginary events. If the events are realistic it may appeal more to the audience in
a personal way. Having a strategically planned plot will keep the story line on track and there will
be no unexpected surprises. This however ruins the aesthetic of the development of the characters.
The characters need to encounter unexpected consequences and surprises in order to create a less
expected appeal in the audience. The plot in fact should be so framed that, even without seeing the
things take place, he who simply hears the account of them shall be filled with horror and pity at
the incidents... (Aristotle, 2326). He believes that a planned plot will allow the audience to receive
more emotions from the tragedy. The audience

Visual persuasion and propaganda in mass media: example of Putin s covers in Time magazine
As we have seen throughout the course visual communication techniques play significant role in
our life since it touches upon almost every sphere starting from social aspects to political ones.
These techniques are not important per se but rather there is a particular purpose they seek. One of
these purposes is persuasion. According to Lester (p. 77): communication is fundamentally and
essentially a matter of persuasion, attitude change, behavior modification, and socialization through
the transmission of information . Images are an essential part of the visual persuasion, which
modern mass media incorporates. As we have observed in our readings this visual persuasion can
take different forms in order to be the most effective and to achieve its goal. Lester states that: most
information, whether factual or not, is communicated through the mass media. More and more that
information relies on the emotional appeal inherent in visual presentations (ibid). Moreover:
pictures have always been the surest way of conveying an idea (ibid). One of the brightest examples
is the covers of different newspapers and journals that not only demonstrate the certain attitude and
opinion toward particular topics but also try to make the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Genre Analysis Principles
In order to complete the DCR, it is necessary to understand a few key principles of genre analysis.
These principles include: Beaufort s five domains of knowledge, discourse community attitudes and
values, rhetorical and other textual features.
The rhetorical and other textual features can be divided into sub principles such as content,
function, format and different rhetoric appeals. For genre analysis, the content rhetorical feature is
used to reflect the textual organization of different components of said genre. For example, a

Beaufort s five domains are genre knowledge, rhetorical knowledge, subject matter knowledge,
writing process knowledge, and discourse community knowledge. These domains are vital to the
process of genre analysis, and the one discussed in the Data Collection Report is subject matter
knowledge.
Subject matter knowledge pertains to knowledge of expertise for said discourse community. In the
genre analysis, we look at how the rhetor of the genre displays the extent of expertise about the
discourse community, as well as how the genre adds to existing subject matter knowledge.

The Challenges Of Poverty In Upton Sinclair s The Jungle
Upton Sinclair s The Jungle was published in 1906 and was an eye opening revelation of the
workingman s experience in the Chicago stockyards. Sinclair describes the horrible work conditions
the workers endured and the unsanitary ways in which the meat was made and processed. Sinclair
uses an immigrant family from Lithuania to help bring attention to the hardships and unfairness
that the working class had to go through.
One of the main problems that Sinclair makes evident in Packingtown is poverty. The family in The
Jungle gets paid very low wages and many times, they barely have enough money to buy food.
When Jurgis, whose wages the family depended on most, was in jail, little Stanislovas visited
him and told him Ona is very sick...and we are almost starving and ...I only had a piece of bread
for breakfast, Jurgis (Sinclair, 142). With the low wages, it was also very hard to buy other
essential things. During the winter, the men would tie up their feet in newspapers (Sinclair, 67)
because they couldn t afford buying warmer shoes and at home, the family would sleep with all
their clothes on...and put over them all the bedding and spare clothing they owned (Sinclair, 69).
The low wages weren t the only problem. It was also very hard to find work. All day long the
gates of the packing houses were besieged by starving and penniless men; they came, literally, by
the thousands every single morning (Sinclair, 66). Later on in the book, Sinclair declares that the
unemployment number reaches a million or two of men who had been out of work in the spring
and summer (Sinclair, 235). Without the low wages from a job, it was almost impossible for a
workingman, not to mention an entire family, to get by.
Another problem mentioned by Sinclair is the dangerous working conditions in the
slaughterhouses, The work in the slaughterhouses had to be done at a fast rate. In the beginning
of the book, Jurgis often marveled at their [the men on the killing beds] speed and power as if
they had been wonderful machines (Sinclair 47). The pressure to do the work fast led to many
accidents. Of the butchers and floorsmen...and all those who used knives, you could scarcely find a
person who has the use of his thumb (Sinclair, 82).

Four Reasons To Resist
Four Reasons for Resistance
The first reason to resist is for emotional reasons. Many people have experienced abuse from
churches or Christians that were irritating. Some people come to terms with the fact that
embracing the Christianity religion would mean they are to accept and acknowledge that their
loved ones died/entered eternity without things like forgiveness or love. They have to
acknowledge that there is an eternity where loved ones can enter that is full of darkness, despair,
and endless suffering. For some people, the thought of those things can be too much to handle.
The second reason to resist is because of prejudice. This simply means the other person has
entered the conversation with a closed mind. They have already prejudged your point of view
before hearing what you had to say. The individual is only concerned with defending their
argument, and not being open minded to consider other views. The third reason to resist is due to
cultural influences. Koukl (2009) says, Often Christians defend their own denominational
peculiarities in a very biased way (p.158). They simply do not give any thought to the other side of
an argument. Lastly, people resist because they want to rebel against God. As a result, that is
something that man cannot fix; therefore, resisting the argument for this reason is valid. The ...

Sometimes the charge of being biased can be justified. When an individual has clearly chosen a
side, it does not mean he or she has conducted an even, equal analysis. On the other hand, the
individuals who are not considered neutral can still be fair in the argument. For example, a theist
believes in the different laws regarding nature, but he or she is also open to other possibilities
regarding the supernatural intervention. As a result, both of these ideas are constant with her
viewpoint of the world; therefore, she is then able to form an opinion on its own merit (Koukl, 2009,

Liberal Arts Should Be Taught In College Essay
What is Being Taught in College?
What should colleges be teaching, is a question that many people are wanting an answer to. Should
colleges be teaching students liberal arts or should they just let liberal arts classes slip away? This
a controversy between students on every college campus. It is important to the students, because
they want what is best for themselves during college. I believe that students need to be taught
liberal arts to help better their learning abilities. In my own experience, I have learned that liberal
arts classes may be frustrating, but in the long run they have really helped to develop a better grasp
on general education. Liberal arts classes are a good way to begin college, instead of just jumping

Students will still learn the same way, whether there are a lot of students or a little. Smaller class

Resistance Of The Patriarchal Norms Of Pakistan
Resistance to uprooting the patriarchal norms in Pakistan, especially in rural areas, is another
cause of the lack of education, especially for girls. You can see this resistance in the attacks on
teachers and the high rates of illiteracy, especially among women and girls. Balochistan is one of
these places where educationcan be scarce and the dangers are high. There have also been attacks
on teachers, such as one in October, when four female teachers in Quetta had acid thrown at them
as they left school(Girls). Risks like this push teachers away from schools, offering less
opportunity to the girls who might have attended, if they had the chance. Luckily, some girls been
lucky enough to be invested in, and they are the reason we are questioning these cultural norms in
the first place. Malala Yousafzi is a perfect example of what happens when someone has the
bravery to stand up against an oppressive system. Malala was the victim of the Taliban, being shot
in the head for speaking out for her right to an education as a girl, something the Taliban strongly
opposed (Lewis 3). Malala had used a pseudonym with the British Broadcasting Company to write
about her conditions, and when her real name was eventually revealed, the Taliban had their eyes
on her (Lewis 5). Interestingly, Malala s shooting created a spark in the opposite direction the
Taliban intended. Killing, or attempted killing, by the Taliban is meant to be a warning. But Malala

Firstly I will introduce you to the surrealist movement and some relevant themes with surrealist art.
Then explore the defined states of consciousness, moving into explaining what a dream is. Next will
be a brief touch on what influences visual stimulating tools have upon art, flowing through to
surrealism and dreams. Here I will talk about the contrasting views of the surrealist and Freudian
opinions of dream definition and expression.
After I will produce a few artists who have used dreams to influence their creativity within bodies
of work, each using different aspects of dreams as a tool. And to wrap up my exploration I will

Colorado Mining Research Paper
Colorado Mining Humankind has been fascinated with minerals and rocks as far back as we have
existed. Minerals, which are referred to as the building blocks of rocks, are the foundation of almost
every rock known to humans. Minerals are a naturally occurring, homogeneous inorganic solid
substance having a definite chemical composition and characteristic crystalline structure, color, and
hardness. In contrast to minerals, rocks are any solid mass of mineral, or mineral like matter, that
occurs naturally as part of our planet (Lutgens Tarbuck, 2014). Humans have used minerals and
rocks for both decorative and practical purposes for thousands of years. Through the process of
mining, humans extract these valuable minerals from within the... Show more content on

Analysis Of The Movie White Liar By Miranda Lambert
Picking Up the Pieces Picking Up the Pieces is the film being produced to document my life. I
have never put much thought into how my life would be portrayed or even documented.
However, as I sit here thinking about what music I would use for the soundtrack, I start thinking
about all of the things that I have been through in my life. All of those hurdles that I had to climb
over and the songs that have so much meaning start to flow through my mind. There are many
songs to choose from, but I narrow them down to the top four that I feel set the mood of how I
have picked up the pieces of my life from a tragic divorce and moved on to now being a thriving
non traditional college student seeking to become a Hospitality Manager. The first song that I
have chosen is White Liar by Miranda Lambert because this song represents what I went through
during my very tragic divorce. Lambert is an American country music artist who co wrote this
song with Natalie Hemby. The song was released in August of 2009. The reason I chose this
song is because the words remind me of what I went through when I found out that my husband
of six years had been cheating on me and how I felt. Lambert sings, Hey white liar, the truth
comes out a little at a time and it spreads just like a fire. My husband had been cheating on me and
the entire time, I sensed something was wrong, but he continued to tell me that I was wrong.
According to him, they were just friends. In reality, I too was also a white liar

The Authoritarian Style Of Parenting Essay
Introduction In the early 1960s, psychologist Diana Baumrid conducted a research, analyzing child
parent behavior, seeking to identify parenting styles. The Baumrid study and other further studies
identified four main styles of parenting (Miller, 2010): the authoritative parenting style was
characterized by fair rules and consequences; The Authoritarian parenting style was characterized
by strict rules and harsh punishment; the permissive parenting style was characterized by minimal
rules with little or no consequences; the uninvolved parenting style was characterized by no rules,
and parent presence was almost non existent. In this paper, I m going to look at the authoritarian
style of parenting in an attempt to draw out its characteristics and its immediate and later impacts
on children impact. The Authoritarian parenting Style The primary focal point of the authoritarian
style is on respect rather than parent child relationships. Authoritarian parents are known for being
strict. They lay out rules and expect their children to follow them without question, even if the child
has a valid reason for questioning a decision. They establish many rules for the household and leave
little or no room for negotiation on policies. Authoritarian parents also fail to explain why the rules
exist because they believe that, as the parent, they are the authority on all decisions and shouldn t
be questioned. Penalty is an important element to authoritarian parents. Discipline is not gentle

Long Beach Plumbing Issues
Common Plumbing Mistakes When you have a plumbing issue, it is best to call a Long Beach
plumbing company instead of trying to deal with it yourself. There are a number of mistakes
that people make that warrant calling a plumbing company in Long Beach. Many people treat
their garbage disposals like a trashcan. While your garbage disposal does make things more
convenient, it should not be treated like a garbage disposal. Potato peels, grease and watermelon
rinds are examples of some things that you should not put in your garbage disposal. If there is
something wrong with your garbage disposal, then you should call a plumber in Long Beach.
Many people also have to call Long Beach plumbers because they flush items down the toilet that

Animal Morality And Master Morality
agiarNietzsche is one of the most famous, complex, baffling, and misunderstood philosophers of
all time. Nietzsche begins his ethics with the proposition that there are only two basic types of
morality: slave morality and master morality. These types of morality Nietzsche proposes were
initially formed when society was not actually made up of masters and slaves. In a society where
masters were completely free and slaves simply had to do whatever their masters said. Based on
their respective situations Nietzsche argues these two groups of people came up with two very
different types of morality. Now of course there are no longer literal masterand slaves in today s
society. However nietzche proposes well masters and slaves no longer exist but the moral system
they came up with do. Therefore if we are to understand and evaluate morality as it exists today,
we must investigate morality as it was originally defined by master and slaves.
Masters are totally free. They do what they want, to whom that want, and whatever they want.
How it is such a person in such a situation begin to think about morality. Nietzsche proposes a
person in such a situation would begin by saying that whatever it is the approval of our desire is
good. We can imagin such a list of thing such a master might approve of . he will no doubt desire
to show off his courage during battle to keep power over his slaves and it demonstrates his honour
in front of his fellow master. Goodness in master morality is

medium sized corporation in the US to get into federal marketing. Procuring a GSA Schedule
contract will allow the business companies to sell their government standard goods and services in
the federal market. Thus, by hiring the services of an eligible consultant will offer a huge GSA
advantage to bag the contracts. Since, such contracts promise to offer huge revenue, preparing the
proposal demands thorough market research and extensive knowledge about the GSA Schedule

federal marketplace.
Smooth negotiation of the contract terms
The financial conditions of a federal contract are consulted and negotiated with a contract
professional before a proposal is sanctioned. The negotiation process is not prohibitive, however
the numerous proposals acquired by a contracting officer clearly define that the firm is ready to
carry on the negotiation process in an easy manner. GSA consulting services enables the
experienced and skilled consultant to carry on the negotiation procedure which will; increase the
option of getting the business proposal sanctioned in the first take.
The GSA advisory firms provide consulting facilities to a large number of commercial and business
companies in the US and aid them to conduct sales with the government agencies. Procuring the
services of an advisor is considered the only best option to prepare a proposal and get it sanctioned

The Firebird Suite Analysis
The Firebird Suite is a ballet composed by Igor Stravinsky in 1910. I am particularly fond of this
piece, and place it in my personal top five greatest musical compositions of all time. I first
listened to this piece back in 1999 when Disney s, Fantasia 2000 was released. While I do not
remember the visuals of the film, I recall the musicquite clearly. I have forgotten about, The Firebird
Suite until I recently bought the CD, Stravinsky: The Rite of Spring, Firebird Suite (1999) at
Barnes and Noble. Listening to the piece again brought on a whirlwind of emotions and memories.
For the purpose of time, I will be focusing primarily on the last movement of the suite. The
movement starts in the key of B major in 3/2 time with the french horn, harp, and strings playing
first. Dynamic wise, the movement starts in piano while the french... Show more content on

My experience as a music major in SUNY Potsdam attributed toward my various reactions
throughout this piece. Additionally, my fellow musicians at the Crane School of Music
impacted the way I view this type of music. While I already came into college with an
appreciation for classical music, my peers provided me with new ways to view this type of
music, and I learned much by observing them play. Beforehand, I could not put into words the
emotions and experiences I felt while listening to classical music. Interacting with and learning
from my peers provided me a mean to do so. The Firebird Suite is a piece of music that truly
engages me and brings about a variety of emotions and memories. Listening to this music gives
me a sense of joy and pride of being a musician and reminds me of why I love listening to this
type of music. While other individuals may prefer different types of music, this shows how music
can impact people in various ways. This is important for music therapists to understand as this can
be used as a mean to heal our

Adolf Dehn was a very well known American figure in the history of American art and he was a
remarkable watercolorist and printmaker. The exhibition of Adolf Dehn showcases his very well

seen before like watercolor, Casein and Lithography. The exhibition displays some of his well
known paintings like The Battery(1953), The Lance colliery, Wilkes Barre(1948) and Central
Park Night (1946). This paintings all transport you into that exact moment and allows you to be
apart of that landscape, feel its beauty as well as a part of of what is going on on that scene.

states in have expanded into Canada. I have chosen to explore the financial health of Nordstrom

By using profitability ratios, investors can measure the income or operating success of a
company for a given period of time. Earnings Per Share Ratio Nordstrom Earnings Per Share
2014 = 720/190 = 3.79 2013 = 734/194.5 = 3.77 Macy s 2014 = 1526/354.3 = 4.30 2013 = 1486
/384.8 = 3.86 The earnings per share ratio calculates the net income earned on each share of
common stock. Nordstrom s earnings per share was $3.77 in 2013 and increased to $3.79 in
2014; while its competitor Macy s, has an earnings per share ratio of $4.30 in 2014. This ratio
means that for every share of common stock outstanding, Nordstrom has an income of $3.79 in
2014 and $3.77 in 2013. Compared to 2013, Nordstrom had an increase of 2 cents in earnings per
share, which depicts an increasing earning in its shares of common stock. Macy s, on the other
hand, had an income of $4.30 in 2014 for every share of common stock outstanding, which is 51
cents higher than Nordstrom s ratio in 2014. This indicates that Macys is more efficient in terms
of generating its net income from their common stock outstanding. Return on Assets Ratio
Nordstrom Return on Assets 2014 = 720/(9245+8574/2) = 8% 2013 = 734/(8574+8090/2) = 9%
Macy s 2014 = 1526/(21330+21620/2) = 7% 2013 = 1486/(21390+21620/2) = 6.9% Return on

Essay on The Quiet American
The Quiet American How long can you sit on the fence and not get involved? How long before
you re forced to choose sides? Thomas Fowler learns the answers to this dilemma the hard way.
Fowler at the onset of our story, describes himself as being an objective observer, purposely not
taking sides, just telling over the facts. My fellow journalists called themselves correspondents; I
preferred the title of reporter. I wrote what I saw, I took no action even an opinion is a kind of
action. (20) He even goes to the extent of frequently using opium so as not to have an opinion
about his own well being. It came to the point where he felt that being alive was neither a good nor
bad thing. Aren t we all better off dead? the opium... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Fowler, in a letter from his wife, is again exposed for never taking sides. You say that we ve
always tried to tell the truth to each other, but, Thomas, your truth is always so temporary. (110)
Because Fowler always tried to be objective, it even influenced his own marriage. His wife
couldn t trust him because he never chose sides; he never developed his own opinions and stuck
by them. Fowler s truth was always temporary because while staying objective, he never got
involved enough to make himself care to maintain one position. В‘I ll have done my best aren t
you thinking that? What would you do if I cabled Yes ? Would you actually marry her? (109)
Fowler s wife calls him out on the fact that even though he is asking her for a divorce and
essentially the right to marry Phuong, which he does not name, even if she does grant him what
he s asking for Fowler won t be able to act on it. This В‘truth , that fowler says he s in love with
Phuong, is only temporary. If fowler were to truly love Phuong and really want to marry her he
would then be in the position of choosing sides. He would finally be saying that he really isn t
objective, he isn t the В‘reporter that he thinks he is. This is what his wife sees and therefore
called him on it. When Fowler and Pyle are trapped atop the guard tower, we get to see even more
how fowler truly feels about the war that he s reporting on. When discussing with Pyle the other
troops in the tower, fowler

  • 4. Development Theory And Jean Jacques Rousseau s Theory Of... Four well known theorists each created their own ideas on how children develop mentally and physically, how they learn from others and the conceptual of what they are like when they are first brought into the world. Through research and their own experience, these scientists challenged the current beliefs of their time on two topics: active and reactive development and constant or ever changing development. The philosopher John Locke supported reactive development where children developed completely based on what was happening in their life and growth was constant. In his eyes, society determined how a baby boy or girl would mature and has stages that can provide an advance declaration of their physical and mental growth in the following years. However, the philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau supported active development and ever changing development. To Rousseau, kids progress in how they think and look is set in stages where each stage is not the same as the last. Each theory is based on an angle different from the others that affect the researches questions, processes and interpretation: psychoanalytic, learning, cognitive, contextual and evolutionary. The physician Sigmund Freud created the concept psychoanalytic theory and also accepted reactive development and discontinuous growth. Theme Of Names In Song Of Solomon Jack Noble Mr. Fusco 10/13/17 Song of Solomon Names Names are apart of all cultures and have major significance to the recipients of the name and further to the society as a whole. People are identified by the name provided to them at birth. This such name can be derived from a variety of different origins, depending heavily upon what ethnicity, or culture the child is born into. A parent provides their child with a name that they believe has some kind of significance, or a deeper symbolic meaning to their family. Throughout one s life, they might acquire a number of nicknames. Nicknames can reflect how others perceive a certain person, or even how that person views himself, inferring either a positive or negative connotation. In Songs of Solomon, many characters have names that provide a deeper insight on their true identity in the novel. Whether the character is trying to escape the reality of their name or not, the name itself still establishes truth behind theirs actions and who they came from. Names in Song of Solomon ultimately establish a character s behavioral traits and cultural background, advancing the direction of the novel. In the novel, many of the characters are provided with names of either biblical or mythological descent. These such names provide insight as to the identity of the character in the novel and further the purpose of the character in the progression of the plot. • 6. Heterosexua s Argument Against Homosexual Adoption A child enters foster care every two minutes. Meaning by the end of this speech, at least three children will have entered. In 2012 there were about 397 thousand children in foster care. In 2014 there was almost 416 thousand. And the number keeps rising. In 2016 the number is supposed to rise 4%. While it may not seem much a 4 percent rise will make it almost 432 thousand. Almost twenty thousand more children will be in foster care. Which is why Homosexual couples should be allowed to adopt. With this many children in foster there is a need for parents that only straight parents cannot fill. While straight parents may have oops babies, or accidents , this does not occur with homosexual parents. Many people are close minded and think the only acceptable home is one with a mother and a father that are married to each other, they may think that children need a mother and father for proper male and female role models, or even children raised by gay parents are more likely to be gay themselves. Whether you believe this to be true or not, the children that need to be adopted do not have parents at all. While many may say that being in foster care is better than being adopted by a homosexual family that is not true. Not all foster care families are warm and fuzzy. In many cases, foster families will abuse the children or take the money given to them by the state for the children and use it for themselves. Philosophy Of Christian Education All Scripture is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16 17). Throughout the Bible, God mentions the importance of teaching children and young adults the message of God s Word. The Bible equips us for our everyday lives of service. One of the ways we can assist parents in this task of teaching their children is through Christian education. , I have formed a philosophy of education using the light of God s Word and research from psychologyscholars like Piaget, Maslow, and Vygotsky. Parents are responsible for teaching their children God s truth and teachers are blessed to be entrusted to help parents accomplish this task. As a teacher, my goal is not to replace the caregiver s instruction of their children, but instead I want to be a helper in the education of their child. I need to be the support and encouragement for caregivers to help them teach their children. One way I can help the parents is by communicating what is happening in the classroom and about what their child has accomplished. I can be available to talk to parents whenever they need me. Injury to the glomerulus and the tubules presents the onset of Intra renal failure (Matzke, 2011). Some of the frequent causes for Intra renal failure are glomerulonephritis; pyelonephritis; and tubular injury. It is important to know that following an acute episode a chronic renal episode often follows, and at this juncture the damage is irreversible. Glomerulonephritis and pyelonephritis combined, has been reported to be the forerunner in as much as half the cases from acute to chronic renal failure. Diabetes mellitus, renal vascular disease, such as atherosclerosis, hypertension, polycystic kidney disease, drug damage, and nephrolith are all examples of other causes of CKD (Pradeep, 2014). Lynch incinerates the viewers expectations for this storyline by revealing to us that the everything we have seen was part of some elaborate fantasy, three quarters into movie. Until 1970, TS was frequently misdiagnosed as schizophrenia, obsessive compulsive disorder, epilepsy, or nervous habits, concluding that this mental disorder is extremely rare and has similar characteristics as other mental disorders (Kahn and Fawcett 375). People with TS are also likely to have other mental problems like depression, anxiety, OCD, ADHD, and self injurious behaviors. As mentioned above, TS can occur in anyone, even famous people. Some of the famous people that had TS were Jim Eisenreich, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, and Marc Summers. TS does not disable a person from working efficiently or living a perfectly normal life. How Plot and Character Affect the Experience of Tragic Art The experience of tragic art can be determined through the plot setup, the type of tragedy, and how the plot appeals to the audience. Aristotle incorporated distinct rules in his passage about how a plot should be arranged. He indicates that a tragedy must contain a prologue, episode, exode, and a choral portion... (Aristotle, 2324), but does a plot need to be so planned? The plot should have some structure, but it should also flow naturally and freely. If there is too much planning in the plot, then the storyline will be too predictable. New ideas and turning points should be part of the story in order to keep the audience on their toes. The scenes of the plot can be about realistic events or about imaginary events. If the events are realistic it may appeal more to the audience in a personal way. Having a strategically planned plot will keep the story line on track and there will be no unexpected surprises. This however ruins the aesthetic of the development of the characters. The characters need to encounter unexpected consequences and surprises in order to create a less expected appeal in the audience. The plot in fact should be so framed that, even without seeing the things take place, he who simply hears the account of them shall be filled with horror and pity at the incidents... • 29. The Challenges Of Poverty In Upton Sinclair s The Jungle Upton Sinclair s The Jungle was published in 1906 and was an eye opening revelation of the workingman s experience in the Chicago stockyards. Sinclair describes the horrible work conditions the workers endured and the unsanitary ways in which the meat was made and processed. Sinclair uses an immigrant family from Lithuania to help bring attention to the hardships and unfairness that the working class had to go through. One of the main problems that Sinclair makes evident in Packingtown is poverty. The family in The Jungle gets paid very low wages and many times, they barely have enough money to buy food. When Jurgis, whose wages the family depended on most, was in jail, little Stanislovas visited him and told him Ona is very sick...and we are almost starving and ...I only had a piece of bread for breakfast, Jurgis (Sinclair, 142). With the low wages, it was also very hard to buy other essential things. During the winter, the men would tie up their feet in newspapers (Sinclair, 67) because they couldn t afford buying warmer shoes and at home, the family would sleep with all their clothes on...and put over them all the bedding and spare clothing they owned (Sinclair, 69). The low wages weren t the only problem. It was also very hard to find work. All day long the gates of the packing houses were besieged by starving and penniless men; they came, literally, by the thousands every single morning (Sinclair, 66). Later on in the book, Sinclair declares that the unemployment number reaches a million or two of men who had been out of work in the spring and summer (Sinclair, 235). Without the low wages from a job, it was almost impossible for a workingman, not to mention an entire family, to get by. Another problem mentioned by Sinclair is the dangerous working conditions in the slaughterhouses, The work in the slaughterhouses had to be done at a fast rate. In the beginning of the book, Jurgis often marveled at their [the men on the killing beds] speed and power as if they had been wonderful machines (Sinclair 47). • 31. Four Reasons To Resist Four Reasons for Resistance The first reason to resist is for emotional reasons. Many people have experienced abuse from churches or Christians that were irritating. Some people come to terms with the fact that embracing the Christianity religion would mean they are to accept and acknowledge that their loved ones died/entered eternity without things like forgiveness or love. They have to acknowledge that there is an eternity where loved ones can enter that is full of darkness, despair, and endless suffering. For some people, the thought of those things can be too much to handle. The second reason to resist is because of prejudice. This simply means the other person has entered the conversation with a closed mind. They have already prejudged your point of view before hearing what you had to say. The individual is only concerned with defending their argument, and not being open minded to consider other views. The third reason to resist is due to cultural influences. Koukl (2009) says, Often Christians defend their own denominational peculiarities in a very biased way (p.158). They simply do not give any thought to the other side of an argument. Lastly, people resist because they want to rebel against God. As a result, that is something that man cannot fix; therefore, resisting the argument for this reason is valid. The ... • 33. Liberal Arts Should Be Taught In College Essay What is Being Taught in College? What should colleges be teaching, is a question that many people are wanting an answer to. Should colleges be teaching students liberal arts or should they just let liberal arts classes slip away? This a controversy between students on every college campus. It is important to the students, because they want what is best for themselves during college. I believe that students need to be taught liberal arts to help better their learning abilities. In my own experience, I have learned that liberal arts classes may be frustrating, but in the long run they have really helped to develop a better grasp on general education. • 34. Resistance Of The Patriarchal Norms Of Pakistan Resistance to uprooting the patriarchal norms in Pakistan, especially in rural areas, is another cause of the lack of education, especially for girls. You can see this resistance in the attacks on teachers and the high rates of illiteracy, especially among women and girls. Balochistan is one of these places where educationcan be scarce and the dangers are high. There have also been attacks on teachers, such as one in October, when four female teachers in Quetta had acid thrown at them as they left school(Girls). Risks like this push teachers away from schools, offering less opportunity to the girls who might have attended, if they had the chance. Luckily, some girls been lucky enough to be invested in, and they are the reason we are questioning these cultural norms in the first place. Malala Yousafzi is a perfect example of what happens when someone has the bravery to stand up against an oppressive system. Malala was the victim of the Taliban, being shot in the head for speaking out for her right to an education as a girl, something the Taliban strongly opposed (Lewis 3). Malala had used a pseudonym with the British Broadcasting Company to write about her conditions, and when her real name was eventually revealed, the Taliban had their eyes on her (Lewis 5). Interestingly, Malala s shooting created a spark in the opposite direction the Taliban intended. Killing, or attempted killing, by the Taliban is meant to be a warning. I have never put much thought into how my life would be portrayed or even documented. However, as I sit here thinking about what music I would use for the soundtrack, I start thinking about all of the things that I have been through in my life. All of those hurdles that I had to climb over and the songs that have so much meaning start to flow through my mind. There are many songs to choose from, but I narrow them down to the top four that I feel set the mood of how I have picked up the pieces of my life from a tragic divorce and moved on to now being a thriving non traditional college student seeking to become a Hospitality Manager. The first song that I have chosen is White Liar by Miranda Lambert because this song represents what I went through during my very tragic divorce. Lambert is an American country music artist who co wrote this song with Natalie Hemby. The song was released in August of 2009. The reason I chose this song is because the words remind me of what I went through when I found out that my husband of six years had been cheating on me and how I felt. Lambert sings, Hey white liar, the truth comes out a little at a time and it spreads just like a fire. My husband had been cheating on me and the entire time, I sensed something was wrong, but he continued to tell me that I was wrong. According to him, they were just friends. • 40. The Authoritarian Style Of Parenting Essay Introduction In the early 1960s, psychologist Diana Baumrid conducted a research, analyzing child parent behavior, seeking to identify parenting styles. The Baumrid study and other further studies identified four main styles of parenting (Miller, 2010): the authoritative parenting style was characterized by fair rules and consequences; The Authoritarian parenting style was characterized by strict rules and harsh punishment; the permissive parenting style was characterized by minimal rules with little or no consequences; the uninvolved parenting style was characterized by no rules, and parent presence was almost non existent. In this paper, I m going to look at the authoritarian style of parenting in an attempt to draw out its characteristics and its immediate and later impacts on children impact. The Authoritarian parenting Style The primary focal point of the authoritarian style is on respect rather than parent child relationships. Authoritarian parents are known for being strict. They lay out rules and expect their children to follow them without question, even if the child has a valid reason for questioning a decision. They establish many rules for the household and leave little or no room for negotiation on policies. Authoritarian parents also fail to explain why the rules exist because they believe that, as the parent, they are the authority on all decisions and shouldn t be questioned. • 43. Animal Morality And Master Morality agiarNietzsche is one of the most famous, complex, baffling, and misunderstood philosophers of all time. Nietzsche begins his ethics with the proposition that there are only two basic types of morality: slave morality and master morality. These types of morality Nietzsche proposes were initially formed when society was not actually made up of masters and slaves. In a society where masters were completely free and slaves simply had to do whatever their masters said. Based on their respective situations Nietzsche argues these two groups of people came up with two very different types of morality. Now of course there are no longer literal masterand slaves in today s society. However nietzche proposes well masters and slaves no longer exist but the moral system they came up with do. Therefore if we are to understand and evaluate morality as it exists today, we must investigate morality as it was originally defined by master and slaves. Masters are totally free. They do what they want, to whom that want, and whatever they want. How it is such a person in such a situation begin to think about morality. Nietzsche proposes a person in such a situation would begin by saying that whatever it is the approval of our desire is good.
