Interpersonal Communication Essay Topics
Crafting an essay on the theme of "Interpersonal Communication Essay Topics" poses a unique
set of challenges. First and foremost, the breadth of interpersonal communication itself makes it a
vast subject to navigate. Selecting a specific angle or focus for the essay requires careful
consideration to ensure relevance and depth. The task involves delving into various aspects such
as verbal and non-verbal communication, cultural nuances, technology's impact, and the
psychology behind human interaction.
Moreover, the dynamic nature of interpersonal communication demands a nuanced
understanding of the evolving societal landscape. Staying abreast of the latest trends and
research in communication studies is essential to provide a comprehensive and contemporary
perspective. Balancing theoretical frameworks with real-world examples adds an extra layer of
complexity to the writing process, requiring a thoughtful synthesis of academic knowledge and
practical insights.
The challenge intensifies when addressing the diverse array of potential essay topics within the
overarching theme. Each subtopic brings its own intricacies and requires a tailored approach.
Juggling between the macroscopic view of communication theories and the microscopic analysis

overwhelming complexity.

effective communication and addressing the challenges and pitfalls requires a careful and
nuanced approach.

The Pullman Palace Car Company Manufactured Railroad
Cards
The Pullman Palace Car Company manufactured railroad cards. The workers were
not part of a union and lived in the town of Pullman where the company controlled
the rent, utilities, and politics. Due to a poor economy, the Pullman Palace Car
Company laid off many employees and cut wages for those remaining by 25% and
didn t lower the costs in the town of Pullman. The ARU came on board and made
numerous attempts to negotiate with the company and none were successful. I agree
with the workers striking considering they were in a lose lose situation with their
employer controlling their entire life not only their employment but their living
conditions. The company had no reason to want to deal with them because they
controlled everything.
Research Paper On Pygmalion
In George Bernard Shaw s Pygmalion, a bedraggled flower girl named Eliza is
central to an experiment conducted by a language expert, Henry Higgins, and his
contemporary, Colonel Pickering. The experiment is a test (or a bet) to see if
Higgins can take a Cockney speaking flower girl from the streets and pass her off
for an eloquently spoken duchess at an ambassador s party, but this proves to be a
laborious process for everyone involved. Despite a failed attempt to pass Eliza off
as a proper lady to his mother, Mrs. Higgins, Eliza goes unmistaken for a duchess at
a garden party, and, in turn, Higgins wins his bet. Higgins and Colonel Pickering
praise themselves over the months they have been working on Eliza while totally
neglecting her and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even if Eliza (and her father) enjoyed the marvelous lifestyle that comes from
acting properly and speaking beautifully, they would have sooner or later been
weary and fatigued by some of the strains that come with being in a well to do
family or, in this case, social class. In their article Overview: Pygmalion, Joyce Moss
and George Wilson writes, In every scene of Pygmalion, Shaw juxtaposes different
social classes and explores how they relate to one another. Accents, clothing, and
manners indicate the degree of wealth and social status of each family. Social
climbers in England at the time faced slim odds, while well to do families devoted
considerable time, energy, and money for the preservation of their status. So, if
social status was a mask, then this would be a mask that Eliza could not wear
forever because living a rich life, and obtaining a high social status, was not what
Eliza was looking for. Those things were probably irrelevant to Eliza from the start,
which is probably why Higgins, despite all his wealth and knowledge, never
understood Eliza. Higgins may gloat about his survival teaching Eliza for all those
months, but it should be Eliza who should celebrate enduring Higgins after all that
time. She was looking to be accepted and to be treated properly, which is probably
why she
The Overlooked Gift of Knowledge
In 399 BCE, one of the wisest men in history was put to death. This man was not only
extremely wise, but also highly influential. He was a leader of the highest caliber.
This is Socrates, arguably one of the most prominent men in philosophical history.
Socrates is a figure of evolution, when referring to the way people think. He was
sentenced to death by the Athenians for corrupting the youth, not believing in the
gods recognized by the state, and for introducing supernatural beings. The Athenians
were unjust in in their conviction and condemnation to death of Socratesbecause he
helped the youth rather than corrupt it, attempted to abolish ignorance, and provided
sufficient evidence of his wisdom. Rather than corrupting, Socrates... Show more

The first and most important thing that Socrates encouraged was to recognize your
own ignorance. The principal lesson of the oracle story, according to Socrates, is
that he is the wisest of men because only he recognizes the extent of his own
ignorance (Brickhouse 100). Socrates constantly expressed the importance of
recognizing your own ignorance, in order to abolish ignorance within yourself. In
addition to this, Socrates tried to open peoples eyes to their own ignorance, and to
think with a more open mind. In the seminar reading package it says: He (Socrates)
describes himself as the gadfly of the state seeking to sting men into mental activity
by opening their eyes to their own ignorance and thereby promoting wisdom and truth
and the greatest improvement of the soul (Jowett 247). All Socrates wanted to do
here is to have the people recognize their ignorance, so they could learn from it and
become smarter and better human beings. The promoting wisdom and truth and the
greatest improvement of the soul part of that quotation just proves the good
intentions that Socrates had. Next, in Socrates Apology he comments on how people
are ignorant of their own knowledge on philosophers. He states people will claim
philosophers teach things up in the clouds or under the Earth, and that philosophers
do not follow the gods. With this, Socrates concludes that evil people will persuade
others about such claims, leading to more ignorance.
The Australian Music Scene Of Australia
The Australian Music Scene is on of the best and is growing. Even though it is far
away from major musical capitals such as America and the UK there is still a thriving
live music scene in Australia. There are many different cultures and genres that
musicians play in Australia. With so many festivals and gigs throughout the long
summers, musicians love to come and play in Australia.
Australia has lots of great bands being exposed to the world. Triple J Unearthed is
a great way of exposing Indie and small bands to the whole of Australia. The latest
Australian band to make it big around the world is Tame Impala who won The
Rolling Stone Album of the Year in 2010 for their debut album and 2012 for their
second album. Australia has quite ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Touring in a band is a really good way to get known in different areas and not just
your local pub. Touring locally would be best for trying to get your name out there
and gaining fans. Touring around Australia would be appropriate for when you
have quite a lot of fans over Australia. There is no point booking a tour if no one
will show up. You will lose a lot of money. Touring overseas will cost a lot more
than around Australia and is good for when you are known across different countries.
This would take a while to get to this status and would be best to use an agent for
overseas bookings and accommodation.
Artist managers are important for bands. They do many things for the band to help
them; they take care of the business side of things like contacting record companies.
The manager makes sure that everyone involved in the band is doing their job. The
manager might be on the phone with a record label asking about advertising
campaigns or on the phone with an agent discussing upcoming gigs.
Tour managers make sure that tours go smoothly. They manage the tour finances,
deal with ticketing agencies and making sure everyone on tour is on task. They
basically manage the people who are on tour. In bigger bands the role of a Tour
Manager might be split into three or four people.

Jackie Robinson Turning Point Analysis
1. How do turning points impact a person s life, family, and country? A turning
point can be described as a life changing event that can have a negative or positive
outcome on a person. In the autobiography, I Never Had It Made , by Jackie
Robinson, the memoir, Warriors Don t Cry , By Melba Pattillo Beals, and the article,
The Father of Chinese Aviation by Rebecca Maksel each of the individuals faced
turning points. Jackie Robinson, Melba Pattillo Beals, and Feng Ru all faced life
changing experiences that changed both their lives and their countries.
2. Jackie Robinson s life changed when he became the first black man to play in the
world series and Major League Baseball (MLB) during a time of segregation in
America. These life changing events challenged him because he had to face
racially tense crowds and endured threats from teammates, opponents, and bigoted
fans. For example in paragraph three, the text states, Some of my own teammates
refused to accept me because I was black. This quote explains a negative portraying
event that comes upon Jackie Robinson. Also in paragraph three the text states,
There were threats against me and my family and even out and out attempts and
physical harm to me. This explains how Jackie felt uneasy about how the whites
were trying to put Jackie down. Despite the racism he faced, Robinson learned to
have pride in his accomplishments and appreciate the courage, support, and love
shown by his supporters. For example, in paragraph eleven, the text states, I don t
think I ll ever forget that small, shrill voice of a tiny white kid, in the midst of a
racially tense atmosphere during an early game in a Dixie town, cried out, Attaboy,
Jackie. This explains how because of one his supporters was cheering him on he felt
he had to succeed even if most people wouldn t accept him. Jackie s challenges made
him a popular name to remember in the Major Leagues today.
3. Melba Pattillo Beals life changed when she integrated an all white high school.
The events challenged Beals because she faced racism and because of this she built
up confidence and character. In paragraph thirteen the text states, Some of the white
people looked totally horrified while others raised their fists

Blog 10 NYX Gaming unveils brand new partnership with Paddy Power
NYX Gaming is rising up through the ranks of the online casino industry at a rate
that few would have ever though possible. It seems that time after time they have
pulled the rabbit out of the hat as far as business matters are concerned. Making
sure that they don t stand still, they have added a new name to add to the ranks in
the form of Paddy Power. Joining already popular names in the form of Mr Green,
Casino Room, and Casumo, Paddy Power s ever growing game list will now feature
NYX Gaming titles in abundance.
What continues to push NYX Gaming forward as a key developer is the scratch and

This is because they are adding another mainstream developer to their list of clients.
While NYX Gaming may not be in and around the top developers in the world just
yet, they may make that so in the future should they continue down the same path.
Step by Step
Speaking on the brand new deal, Henrik Johansson of Paddy Power said, Once the
deal is signed we expect big things from the partnership moving forward. We have
been monitoring NYX Gaming Group and their efforts with the likes of Mr Green
and Casumo for some time and have been impressed with what we ve seen.
Through this we are excited to bring our members a wide selection of innovative
new titles . It looks like NYX Gaming Group are just as excited about the
agreement, as Group Commercial Director David Johnson has said, For us it all
about distribution when it comes to our real money games, as we want to get as
many eyes on the product as is physically possible. It s deals like the one with
Paddy Power that can continually help us grow and progress as a company . In
recent times there has been an ever growing controversy surround the Paddy Power
brand. Every year seems to bring on a certain level of trouble for the company,
largely through bad taste or often misleading advertising campaigns. From the looks
of things that hasn t stopped NYX Gaming from wanting to work with the online
casino operator, as they clearly see potential in the
Quiznos Went Out of Business in Rexburg
Why did Quiznos go out of business in Rexburg? Did you know that we are
closing this week? she asked. It was the same lady who had taken my order and
made the same sandwich for me every week and sometimes more... for the last
couple of years. I almost couldn t believe my ears as I replied saying, Are you
serious? When? The Quiznosthat was once very close to my house in Idaho Falls
was going under. It was the start of something that would truly prove to be
detrimental to my physical and emotional well being. Now fast forward a couple
of years. Imagine that you re in my shoes, with the knowledge that there is not a
Quiznos in operation (that you know of) within 150 miles. Then you see it: the
Quiznos sign. You walk up for a closer look, and find that the place is completely
desolate. How would you feel? Would you ask yourself why? How? Because that is
exactly what I did.
So what is the most important thing in a restaurant? You d think it would be food.
In a talk given by Thomas Keller, a restaurant owner, about what excellent food
does to a restaurant, Mr. Keller talks a lot about the quality of food, and a customers
experience. The experience that one has in a restaurant is something that should be
completely about the consumer. If the consumer does not have a good experience at
a restaurant, there is a good chance that he or she will not come back. The quality of
the food at a restaurant can depend a lot on the quality of ingredients. It s important

Feminist Theology
Feminist Theology
Feminist theology is based on the idea of not lord but brother . Jesus Christ himself
stepped outside of societies norms by befriending the outcasts of society, which
included women. Women are often portrayed as the cause of or focus of evil and
misdeeds in the bible. The focus of feminist theology is the perspective of theology
from those who were outcast and therefore considered themselves as equals and
friends to Jesus Christ. If there is anything they desire to know, let them ask their
husbands. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church. (1 Cor.14:33 35)
Feminist theologians are logical and educated with their approach to the view of the

The Holy Spirit itself seems to have a feminine quality to its nature. The mystery of
the Trinity is by no means that simple. But the fact that it is a mystery would indicate
that it is presumptive to assume that any part of the Trinity other than Jesus is either
male or female. The significance of Jesus is not his maleness but his humanness. In
the movie, The DaVinci Code, (although many liberties are taken with the biblical
basis and texts), there is a very real focus on the feminine idea behind Christianity.
What if women were supposed to carry on the Christian tradition and the church?
This idea shakes the very foundation of early and modern Christianity to the core.
The Bible itself was written by men, the Council at Nicaea was attended by men, is
it so far fetched that maybe the men got it wrong? This idea is radical but has an
affect on the feminist perspective that is found in several sources of research. There
are several ideas from a feminine point of view that even change the focus of Jesus
as simply a man.
There is much feminist imagery related to Jesus as well. He gave birth to humanity
through his death. This birth language is feminine and using maternal images to
describe the life, teachings and sufferings of Jesus is powerful indeed. It has the
potential to link inevitable stereotypes for woman to be mothers and nothing else but
women in the church have left their mark
The Events That Shaped My Life
This paper explores the events that shaped my life up until this point. The paper
analyzes experiences that I have had in my short 19 years alive. I delve into the
particulars of being raised in a broken home by my mother. Also being addressed is
how that event altered my outlook on people and life. Being black is not just about
the color of someone s skin. There is a responsibility that comes with it. During
different stages of my life, things have occurred bringing my closer to realizing my
responsibility as a black person. The paper also demonstrates my willingness to
become an aware Black person. Eleanor Roosevelt once wisely said, People grow
through experience if they meet life honestly and courageously. This is how
character is built. Experiences that I have been through shaped my character, but
they shaped the very essence of my being. We all are shaped by our experiences in
our lives. And the memories, good and bad, have forever transformed our
viewpoint towards our lives and on the way to our future. I am progressing as a
young black woman whom is full of knowledge. The only way to tell if you have
gained knowledge is through experience. This does not mean that I have a totally
Africentric view on the world just yet, but with gaining knowledge on the world, I
will get there. I have used my experiences as a young child, preteen, and adolescent
to aid me becoming a more aware Lisa Glasper. A little girl s first and true love is

Hippocrates Influence On Ancient Greek Civilization
One of the most popular healers in the ancient civilization is Hippocrates. His
beliefs and practices are still being used until today like his belief that diseases arise
from things which enter and leave the body. He also believed that cleanliness and
rest are important for a sick or wounded patient. Hippocratesalso manifested the
characteristics of a scientist when he resisted the temptation to theorize without a

people still use the tethering or hotspot feature of a smartphone to get online during

one can start accessing the Internet the moment when turning it on. This way of
internet connectivity will not drain the battery of a smartphone.

The Protection Of The European Union Essay
The protection afforded to the individual in United Kingdom by the European Union
Since the United Kingdom became a member of the European Union in 1973, former
known as the European Economic Community, a big variety of changes in the
legislation procedures relating to the custom duties, economy, free movement, and
social security appeared.
After the two World Wars the European countries started to unite themselves, the
main aim being to end the frequent wars and secure peace between the nations. In
1950 the European Coal and Steam community started to unify politically and
economically the European countries for the purpose of bringing lasting peace.
The Treaty of Rome signed in 1957 brings into being the European Economic
Community. The founders of the European Economic Community are France,
Germany Italy, Luxembourg, Belgium and Netherlands. In 1973 United Kingdom,
Denmark and Ireland joined the European Economic Community.
After the collapse of the communism in 1990, the Europe countries grew closer and
in 1993 four freedoms were introduce in the Community; the freedom of movement of
goods, immigration money and services between the member states.
In 1993 the Maastricht Treaty came into force to unify the forward movement made
during those years, and have new reforms implemented. The main aim of it was to
strengthen the bond between the countries, economically and politically. This formed
the European Union as we know it today.
In 1999 Treaty of Amsterdam brought a
Pros And Cons Of Health Care Reform
The reform was created to bring many benefits to the healthcare system in the United
States. Some benefits that individuals may see today include insurance coverage for
children that have pre existing conditions. This means that insurance companies will
no longer be able to deny children because of pre existing health conditions. This is
very beneficial because these conditions can be chronic and require many
medications or treatments that become very expensive. Another advantage is that
insurance companies now allow individuals to appeal any denying coverage. This
allows healthcare experts to review procedures that may had been denied in the past
be approved after review. Preventative healthcare measures will now be covered in

How The Construction Caused A Poor Educational
Environment...
There is a high school about thirty minutes east of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. In recent
year the school has been figuring out a budget and going back and fourth with
architecture firms for a thirty two million dollar renovation. I had the great pleasure
to attend the school at the time of the renovation s start. I was in my senior year at
the time construction had started. The reason for this is not just to complain about
how the construction put a damper on my senior year of high school, but to explain
how all of the construction chaos causes a poor educational environment and was not
safe for students. This is still occurring too, as the renovations will continue for
another two years.
The construction is not conducive for a good learning environment , says Nikki
Laubham, a teacher and parent. This statement could not be more true in this case.
An average day in Penn Trafford High School (PTHS) consists of ceiling tiles
removed, mysterious liquids dripping from pipes, and rooms being changed around
at the last moment. You wouldn t believe that students still had to manage their way
around this school. Hallways are closed down, carpet are ripped up, and even walls
nocked down. This picture on the left was taken by Jackson Laubham, a sophomore
at PTHS. Having conditions like the one shown in the picture puts stress on students
which will impair their leering ability , comments Nikki when I showed her this
picture. I had the pleasure of talking to my former teacher, Mark
Footballers, Are They Getting Paid Too Much

114,000? Does it take 10 or 25 or 50 years? If you answer 1 day, you must be

complain how the system of life sucks so much. But, let s give it a second thought by

Frequently, such background makes an easy excuse to grant them the big payment
and freedom to have the life they have never experienced without knowing it is the
most enjoyable path to destruction. Let s take Ronaldinho as example. Just when he
reached his peak in career, he began to be disoriented. The bright spotlight, money,
admiration, luxury, and elite life were beyond his childhood imagination. Then the
downfall began. He was tempted to attend flickering night life, spending money
without worry of starving at next day, and other luxuries he couldn t afford back
then in Brazil. And why was he tempted to do so? Because he had money. The
money pours into his account like torrential rain, an amount which he has never seen
before. Well it tells us, however bad is the background, however pitiful is the past
experience; overpaid salary is not an excuse to allow footballer earns such big money.
Short Career
If we talk about the invidual with big revenue, the field which pops out of our
mind is athlete and entertainment. Movie star and singer earn more money than
any athlete in the world but that is where the logic is distorted once again. The
celebrity could still earn money through advanced years while the case isn t the
same for athlete. Al Pacino is currently one of the senior actor and he still could live
himself from film industry for 40 years since his debut in tender age. Paul McCartney

Why Are Actions More Powerful Than Words
Garry king once said ВЁactions are like water,in small amounts they re harmless: but
enough of them can destroy anything. What he meant by that is that actions great or
small can cause the biggest impacts. Actions do truly speak louder than words. Words
have some effects on the world to a point, but actions are the real hands that mold the
clay that is the world. Actions show true feelings towards something, they get the
point across more effectively, and they also show the power of the person(s)
committing the actions. First and foremost, actions have a greater impact towards
something. Actions have a more precise meaning towards something than words. For
example, in 1945 even after the germans surrendered to the allied powers, japan
wouldn t... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Actions have more of a weight about them more so than words do. For example, if
someone were to pick a fight with a person and said person explained he didn t
want to fight. Even Though said person explained he didn t want to fight the
aggressor;he still continued and said person defended himself by striking him. His
action of striking the aggressor got his point across better than his words did.
Furthermore, actions show power more so than words. Actions have a way of
showing and or demonstrating the power of a person(s) or group better than words
can. For example, imagine that two countries are in a conflict that was at a
standstill. All one of the countries would have to do is show an extreme act of
power to make the other surrender. That would demonstrate total power over the
other that words couldn t have achieved. Although, words could defuse the situation
before the use of actions are required, this is a fallacy. Actions have a more definite
and immediate result on something than words do. Words also don t have as much
as a succession rate as actions do. With words there s the possibility of them being
misunderstood, actions however have a more direct meaning that can t be
The Committee By Sonallah Ibrahim
A novel The Committee by Sonallah Ibrahim tells a story of an Egyptian man that is
sent to be questioned by the mysterious Committee. A couple months after being
question by the Committee, the main character is then sent on a task to find an
individual that aluminates. The protagonist decides to research about The Doctor, a
prominent Arab figure, but the Committee comes to his house to notify him that he
needs to change his topic. The main character s decision not to change his topic
makes him go through quite outlandish situations until he finally consumes himself.
Ibrahim s goal in writing The Committee was to take a critical look about the world
around him, which consisted of money continuously going to the rich, Western
countries or Egyptian elites, and never the hard working Egyptian. Ibrahim forces the
main character to go through outrageous situations, which requires him to meet
eclectic character, all to illustrate the authors point of the negativity of globalization
and that Western society is pushing Egyptto extremes.
Ibrahim makes a point in writing about the power and influence the brand Coca Cola
has to the international market, which loosely symbolizes globalization and the gap
occurring between the first world and third world. The first questioned posed by the
Committee to the protagonist is, what symbolizes the twentieth century? The main
character then responds with the answer, Coca Cola because it was one of the first
products to be internationally known

Transnational Migration
Transnational migration has affected me locally, my father now works for a
German company, and they bought the company he works for. It has been an
adjustment for him and for us, there s a lot of stress as the work culture changes at
his company. In my case our local community has also changed, there are a lot of
Germans that have relocated and there is now a blend of German speaking people
in the community. We often frequent Oktoberfest at the neighbor s house. For me
it affected my school, with the new demographic changes the language course
shifted. I took three years of German as a result. From a national perspective, the
migration of workers from Mexico is apparent everywhere, from my community to
just about anywhere in the U.S. I have traveled. Migrant workers from Mexico

Tenant Evictions
The landlords have all the power and tenants have none. (Giwargis) The San Jose
city council recently voted to require just cause for tenant eviction, requiring
landlords to provide a reason for not renewing tenant leases. This is a profound
change to the law. Previously, the city had a no cause eviction policy. Now a reason
must be provided, prior to eviction. Landlords and tenants stand on different sides of
this issue and the vote was close. The rights of tenants as well as those of landlords
must be protected and sometimes changes to the law are needed to ensure these rights
are upheld. The recent changes to the law were necessary to protect tenants rights and
prevent harassment that would lead to eviction.

congestive heart failure. But it s the fight to keep his apartment of 44 years that he
fears he ll lose (Giwargis). Residents like Mayer will no longer have to worry that
they will be evicted at a moment s notice, due to the change in legislature. There is
no doubt that this rule, like anything, has a few holes and flaws. However, it is

Morality In No Country For Old Men By Cormac Lawrence
Morality in No Country for Old Men No Country for Old Men, written by Cormac
McCarthy, is a neo western thriller set in the year 1980 where drug trafficking and
violence along the Mexican border were at its highest. The story draws the reader to
Moss, an everyman who stumbles upon a case filled with money during the
aftermath of a failed drug trade. Soon after, he is being pursued by both a sociopathic
hitman named Chigurh and the town s sheriff Bell. The events that transpire between
these three are overshadowed by the fact that each character is morally ambiguous
and each character s morals are challenged in this story. Moralityis a recurring theme
throughout the novel, and this is evidently seen in each chapter s monologue and
towards the end. Bell, although he questions his own morals due to the events that
he has experienced and seen, is the symbol of morality. McCarthy uses both
symbolism and Bell s narratives to show how society s moral values are gradually
being degraded through each succeeding generation and how there is truly no
country for old men. In the beginning of the text, Bell refers to a case where his
testimony sent a 19 year old boy to the gas chamber to be executed. The papers
stated that it was a crime of passion, but the young man stated that it was no such
thing and that he would do it again if given the chance. This leaves a lasting
impression on Bell. I thought I d never seen a person like that and it got me to
wonderin if maybe he was some

An Examination of Festinger s Cognitive Dissonance Theory and Notable
Modifications
Sometimes the greatest test of a theory is its longevity. Over time, some theories
will be disproved, some will be modified, and some will become the basis for a whole
new group of theories. Leon Festinger s theory of cognitive dissonance has stood up
to challenge for over forty years, and is considered by many to be the single most
important theory of social psychology. Though there have been modifications to the
theory after many recreations and simulations of the original 1957 experiment, few
have been able to really disqualify Festinger s findings. It would be safe to say that
many people don t even have a full grasp of the incredible ... Show more content on

In conclusion, Festinger found that the subjects who were paid one dollar actually
came to believe that the experiment was enjoyable, as opposed to those who were
paid twenty dollars. Incredible? Simple. The subjects who were paid twenty
dollars have all the justification in the world for their actions, but the subjects who
were only paid one dollar have reacted to the dissonance created by telling the lie
for such a small price, and have actually led themselves to believe that the task was
enjoyable to improve their self esteem in regards to the lie.
Festinger concluded that over time dissonance would change attitudes. For example,
cigarette smokers know that it is unhealthy to smoke, but they created an attitude to
justify why they continue to smoke. If I quit smoking now, I will gain weight. I only
smoke when I am drinking. I only smoke after a meal. But the dissonance theory is
applicable to much bigger social opinions than smoking, for example: Aronson and
Mills (1959) conducted an experiment in which some subjects were put through a
harsh period of hazing during initiation into a group while other subjects had to
endure only mild hazing. The end result was that the people who went through the
sever initiation ended up liking that group a lot better than those who went through
mild hazing. Going against the reinforcement theory (Aronson,
Social Work In The Military
Social work is a profession which seeks to better the lives of those in need. The
need can look like anything from political advocacy to those who are hungry. A
social worker can be found in an organization which has a purpose that is enhanced
or aided by the work we do which is guided by the ethics and values of the
profession. From social workers in a clinical setting to those in public libraries, these
ethics and values unite professionals in a variety of places and roles. The
accountability and standards social workhas aids the individual and profession to
keep the best candidates in the different positions we take. A social worker is like a
medic in the military. A medic is part of a unit that is there to assist the mission and
provide medical aide when necessary. The thread of social work connects good
people to a common goal. I have not had a specific moment in my life that has led
me to social work, however I have had culminating incidents throughout my life
which have made my calling to this field clear. The first incident I recall was a time

Military issues have gotten more attention than in the past. People are aware of
PTSD and TBI as common issues among the military, suicide and sexual abuse get

more common issues should be spotlighted as well. For many soldiers the military
is their first job, first time being on their own away from family and the first time
they have had to deal with their finances. Many soldiers are only legally adults and
still have a lot of growing up to do. Soldiers step into a machine that will get
everything it can from them and get spit out when it is satisfied. The military will

Also, in some rare cases, surgery is required, life threatening bleeding, perforation
of the intestine and inflammation of the abnormal cavity may occur. Other risk
factors are inflammation of the joints, eyes, skin and/or liver, malnutrition and
partial blocking of the bile ducts which carry bile from the liver to the intestine,
however, there is much that can be done about all these complications. One risk
and a major one is colon cancer. The risk of developing colon cancer increases
when the disorder begins in the childhood, the disorder has been present for more

cases that colitis can become so severe that the removal of the colon had to be done.
It affects everyone differently. The most symptoms of ulcerative colitis are abdominal
pain and bloody diarrhea mixed with pus, blood and mucus. Individuals may
become very sick and weak, they can suffer form anemia, weight loss, loss of
appetite, rectal bleeding, loss of body fluids and nutrients, skin lesion, joint pain, and
growth failure specially in children according to the extent of the disease. Just how

country requires a Visa for entering and be able to stay in the period of time.
However there are some people that happen to enter the country illegally without the

Baseball Operations For The Chicago Cubs
There are an increasing number of people rising up and looking to revolutionize
baseball as we know it. These people, called sabermatricians, come wielding
spreadsheets and calculators as their weapons of choice. Innovators like them are
beginning to view baseball through a different set of lenses than the rest. Others have
looked through statistical glasses or scouting spectacles, but their vision has never
been optimal. People like them have the correct lenses, but they have not been using
the lenses in the proper context. Theo Epstein, the President of BaseballOperations for
the Chicago Cubs, once said that stats and scouting are two lenses of the same pair
of glasses, and that the pair of glasses is called sabermetrics, and these... Show more

These advanced metrics also provided much overdue improvements to old methods
of baseball research. Old timey statistics are inputted to the sabes machine, and the
new output is quantified baseball players performances based on objective statistical
measurements, especially in opposition to many of the established statistics (such as,
for example, runs batted in and pitching wins) that give less accurate approximations
of individual efficacy (Never, Sabermetrics ). This revolution has given statistics a
more clear meaning and true, measurable value for the first time. Scouting as well
has been improved upon, as the five tools scouts grade on now have that measured
value that scouts may refer to when making notes or personnel decisions.
Statistics, specifically how they measure and control data, as well as help us learn
from it, has and always will be a part of baseball ( What is statistics ). Stats are very,
very useful for many purposes in the sport, and can help keep some analysis
simplistic. The most effective use of stats in baseball is the comparison between
teammates within the same season. Within these parameters, the numbers come from
very similar environments, as the teammates are playing against the same teams in
the same ballparks at the same time. There are no outside factors potentially skewing

Viva La Vida Coldplay Meaning
If you had the choice to be a king, would you take it? The song Viva La Vida, by
Coldplay, could possibly change your mind. The lyrics convey multiple messages
about power and how easy it is to lose it. The public loved the song, and it stayed
on top of the charts long after it was released. Many people who actually paid
attention to the deeper meaning of the song learned something from it. There are
many interpretations of the song, but the real meaning is about the Roman
Catholic Church and King Louis XVI both having a lot of power, then losing it all.
The bass guitarist, Guy Berryman, said that the song is a story about a king who s
lost his kingdom, and all the albums artwork is based on the idea of revolutionaries
and guerillas. It also foreshadows to multiple revolutions that have happened over
the years. The song starts off by saying I used to rule the world, seas would rise
when I gave the word, meaning he was once a king who had a tremendous amount
of power. One minute I held the key, next the walls were closed on me, and i
discovered that my castle stands upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand. (9 12)

High Air Pollution In Nickel s Inhale
The piece Inhale seems to be about how the Earth s air is becoming polluted with
the variety of gasses seeping from trucks, factories, and the various cosmetic
products we use on a daily basis. Contaminating the air until it becomes harder for us
to breathe, such as Japan were the high air pollution makes it difficult to breathe.
Speaking from my own evaluation and observations, the painting seems meant for
adults considering that most of the human beings in the piece of art look to be adults
and adults are the main factor in the pollutionof our air. I suppose that this piece was
produced to strike fear into humanity or at least some uncomfortableness at seeing a
glimpse at what may be our future, such as wearing masks over our nose and
Persuasive Essay On Gun Control
This year, almost every other day, whenever I turned the news channel on, I d
always hear about a shooting. Whether it was a shooting in a small neighborhood of
New Jersey or the mass shooting in Las Vegas, all of them would bring the same
question to my mind: are guns really protecting people? Many people in this country
believe that they have the right to own a gunto protect themselves and their loved
ones, and I understand where they are coming from because I d want to make sure
my family is safe too. So I decided to take a good look at the situation. I needed to
understand what laws governed the sale of firearms, their timeline and to whom they
could be sold to in order for me to have a better perspective on who s to blame: the
machine or the human mind?
Guns became available for purchase to the common civilian after the Bill of
Rights came into existence. The Second Amendment in the Bill of Rights, passed
by the Congress on September 25, 1789, states that people of this country have the
right to own arms and that this right cannot be infringed by anyone. According to
an interpretation of the Second Amendment, Many in the Founding generation
believed that governments are prone to use soldiers to oppress the people (Lund),
which suggests that the one of the reasons behind forming a provision for people
to bear arms was to safeguard the people if there was ever a chance of federal
oppression on them, a lesson America learned with their encounter with the English
in the past. To support this, in 1871, The National Rifle Association was formed
with the objective to help improve the American civilians marksmanship in
preparation for war (National Rifle Association). From the very beginning, guns
were meant to be a form of protection, whether it was from the fear of a federal
oppression or fear of a revolution. In this context I see guns as a means to surviving,
something that people of that past would ve used only under dire consequences. But
some well known facts would suggest otherwise.
I would say that the gun violence had already begun. Take for example the biggest
shock to the country in 1865, when the 16th President of the United States of
America, Abraham Lincoln, was shot in the head and

Clueless Use Of Film Techniques In Jane Austen s Emma
How does the composer of Clueless use film techniques to transform the social,
historical and environmental context of Jane Austen s Emma to the modern context
of Clueless?
Amy Heckerling s Clueless involves a storyline, which closely follows the text of
Jane Austen s novel Emma. However, there are some key points of difference in the
transformation that has taken place. This is due to the individual context of the
nineteenth century prose text and that of the modern appropriated film text. The
context can be divided into three focal categories, the social, historical and
environmental context. In order to be able to address the question, these three
groupings must be identified accordingly. Social context refers to the life and ... Show

My Proposal to Revitalize the Block of Abandoned Houses

My proposal to revitalize the block of abandoned houses at 8 20 Oakmount Road,
1834 1844 Bloor Street West, and 3 17 Pacific Avenue, is to create an eco space
that has the feel of a space that is eco friendly and where people can come buy fresh
produce, learn about eco friendliness, admire the plants at the green houseand eco
dome, or sit next to the fountain and admire the beauty.
This space could do so much for the community, instead of having a block of
houses that benefit no one. Here is a little history of the area of the houses. I was
unable to find physical proof or any source to back this statement up but, according
to Mrs. Zubkewych, her 102 year old neighbor that passed away some years ago
named Ms. Grace Irwin was a historian for the Bloor West Village. Ms. Irwin wrote
a book about the Bloor West Village that can be found in the archives section of the

know the soil is non toxic. The reason the houses were recently torn down is
because the owner was trying to get the permits to build but was unable to so he
sold the land to a development company. This ties into science because we now
know that the soil is not toxic or acidic (since plants can t
Nationalism And National Identity
Nationalism is a source of modernization and political legitimacy, especially in Latin
American countries such as Nicaragua, Argentina, and Mexico. An inclusive national
identity can serve as a means for the development of belonging, and this globally
acclaimed notion of diversity is attractive for nations struggling to find their footing
in the international community. Looking towards the future, the key to achieving this
inclusion is the use of culture, specifically employing music as a tool of integration.
However, the decisive variable here is adolescents. Though these popular music forms
may be the music of the people, they are ultimately dictated by the youth. In modern
times, music is integral for youth as they delve into discourses of identity and
equality, so focusing in on marginalized youth gives the government an opportunity
to explore attitudes and national inclusion among individuals who are in a critical
period of development. Even though teens are influenced by their parents beliefs
during childhood before advancing their own views, youth are ultimately the starting
point for incorporating ostracized groups into nationalist discourses because they are
the developers and executors of music movements. Furthermore, the attitudes of
young people regarding inclusion and exclusion provide an indication for the
sustainability of such diverse national identities in the future.
In Nicaragua, discourses of identity became prominent following the success of the

Argumentative Essay On National Night Out
I never knew of National Night Out until a couple of weeks ago, when at church, it
was mentioned as an excellent opportunity to connect with one s community.
Growing up in a cul de sac with a bunch of older couples, my siblings and I were
always playing all by ourselves. We were limited by the absence of other
neighborhood kids. I acutely remember the pain of not being able to play with any
others, other than my younger siblings. Being part of a vibrant neighborhood
community, however, was not just something that was missing for us, as we lived in
a cul de sac. The vista of a neighborhood street filled with children and families on
porches in the evenings after dinner is nothing but a scene in a movie today. It is a
dream of bygone times. We as Americans in general live lives wholly disconnected
from those that live around us. We stay inside, when we re home, and then abscond
into our cars as we drive away to work each day. Our interactions with our neighbors
is kept to a minimum. National Night Out, which is today, August 1, is an annual
community building campaign that promotes police community partnerships and
neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to
live, for it is known that the lack of a true sense of community weakens the local
economy, isn t conducive to a healthy environment, and breeds disrespect among

in anger and fear and punched the mirror shattering it into pieces. As the mirror
pieces hit the ground I stared at my fist and frowned under my mask. As I walked out
of my room I saw my older brother Jeff laughing towards my older sister Jane while
playing with his knife. He noticed me and grinned. Jeff was like me, a freak of
nature. He always wore a white sweatshirt covered in the
The Importance Of A Registered Nurse For Pediatrics
The career I want to major in is nursing; I want to be a registered nurse for
pediatrics. The reason why I chose this career is because I love kids and the fact
that I will get to take care of them and help them get better is what I will love to do.
Their health is what matters to me the most. The responsibilities of a registered nurse
would be to record the patient s medical histories and symptoms, prescribe medicine
and treatments, observe the patient and record observations also they have to help
perform diagnostic tests and analyze results. Caring for children and infants
illnesses has to be a RNs number one concern. On my career assessment test on my
skills I was better at helping, managing people, and problem solving. I love to help
people in any way I can because seeing other people happy is the type of person I
am. It says I like to motivate people and evaluate their performance and that s also
true and that goes perfect with what a RN should do. The problem solving skill is
also correct when I identify a problem I like to find a solution and make it right.
That s also relates to a registered nurse because they have to talk to the children and
figure out what s wrong with them and they have to find a way to make the patient
better and healthy by the information provided. So indeed I agree that this career
matches with my skills. The education I want to take to take to become a registered
nurse is a Bachelor of Science degree (BSN) and that takes four years to
Critical Care Issue in Trauma
Trauma was the major cause of mortality and morbidity till last 2 decades but after
that there have been major improvements in management and resuscitation of trauma
patients. This does not imply only to emergency care but also ICU management.
It is well established that there is trimodal distribution of death in trauma patients.
First peak is within seconds to minutes because of head or cervical spine injury or to
injury to major blood vessel and much cannot be done about this. The second peak
occurs in minutes to hours due to life threatening injuries and prognosis depends on
initial resuscitation of the patients both in the emergency department and ICU.Then
there is third peak which occurs several days to weeks and is often due to sepsis and
multiorgan dysfunction[1]. This third peak can be prevented by good ICU
management of these patients. Here comes the role of good intensivist who has
experience in managing trauma patients as trauma patients are different from other
patients coming to ICU.
There are majorly two kinds of trauma patients coming to ICU; one who are still in
the phase of ongoing resuscitation coming directly from the ED or Operation Theatre
[OT] after damage control surgery. Secondly there are patients who were being
treated in the ward, deteriorated and then shifted to ICU. There are certain problems
particularly seen in trauma patients. In this review we will try to highlight certain
these problems.

The Marriage Of Heaven And Hell By William Blake
In The Marriage of Heaven and Hell, William Blake explored and solidified his
divergent religious beliefs through beautiful etchings and poetry. Blake had relatively
nothing at stake in his opposition to the norm; he had been judged as an insane
person for the majority of his life. However, Blake s resistance to traditional Christian
tenets was only part of his socioreligious defiance. Blake spoke against the very mode
of popular thought through his writing, a revolutionary style of prose and
nontraditional illustration, combined with his outlandish theological views that
delved into parts of his own psyche.
In terms of his writing, Blake s approach to creation reflects the world he was
brought up in. With no formal education, Blake came ... Show more content on

Devourers do not get to experience the entirety of existence because they have not
created on their own without the help of industrialization. The Prolific would cease
to be prolific if the Devourers and the companies behind them were not receiving
the bulk of the recognition and money that came from their similar goods. This
concrete example in of Blake s loathing for what the Industrial Revolution did to
artisans, shown in his text, illustrates that he disagreed with many of his
contemporaries on mass production. In a revolting world, this single viewpoint
showed Blake s personal solidarity with the lower class, as he knew what it was like
to live within it.
All of Blake s works showcase a similar motif of radical and strange religious ideas.
Though Blake would have never said he was non religious, his thoughts surrounding
Christianity didn t often align with those of the church. Blake saw religion
intimately. He quite literally saw it, within his everyday life, in the form of visions
that were real to him. When reading The Marriage of Heaven and Hell, keeping his
visions in mind, it is clear to see that Blake believed religion should be personal. He
wrote about angels and prophets as though they were his lifelong friends. Through
phrases like The Prophets Isaiah and Ezekiel dined with me (Blake 16) and As I was
walking among the fires of Hell, delighted with the enjoyments of Genius, (Blake 9)

Symbolism In Epic Of Gilgamesh And Dante s Inferno
Symbolism in World Literature Symbolism is an aspect that inherits its way into
multiple stories, sometimes with or without an author realizing so until after the
piece comes to a finish. Symbolism is an essence for pieces of World Literature
from the early ages of writing and even up to the writings happening around the
world today. Overall, symbolism is as necessary in an authors works as the words
on the page, considering that symbolism aids in a stories flow and also brings
forth multiple meanings to an authors text depending upon who is reading the text.
Two early world literature works in particular which display quite a various range
of symbolism is the Epic of Gilgamesh and Dante s Inferno; both works of world
literature can be related in the characteristic that each work provide readers with
examples of religious symbolism and can even be compared because so.... Show more

The Epic of Gilgamesh is one of the earliest known literary works around the world.
It originated from ancient Mesopotamia and first originated as a series of Sumerian
legends and poems in cuneiform script dating back to the early third and late
second millennium BCE, which were lather gathered into a longer Akkadian poem.
(Classical Literature). The poem follows Gilgamesh and Enkidu, who is Gilgamesh
s wild friend who seemed to be half man and half animal, as they travel through
numerous amounts of rambunctious adventures and quests. The Gods created
Enkidu to make sure Gilgamesh walked the line straight and did not cause too large
of an uproar in Uruk where Gilgamesh was king. After, Enkidu s death the story
turns to follow Gilgamesh on the quest of finding eternal life after he realizes that
even though he is two thirds God and one third human he would still not live
Graph Model Essay
In order to understand the structure of a complex social network, three random
graph models have been used [10]. For an overall comparative study, the basic
centrality measures, clustering coefficient, average path length, and the degree
distribution were studied for the original network model as well as for the random
graph models. a.RANDOM GRAPH MODELS A random graph is obtained by
starting with a set of n isolated vertices and adding successive edges between them
at random [8]. 1.Erdos Renyi (ER) random graph model It is a random graph with n
vertices where every edge has equal probability p of existing. This graph model has a
constant and independent probability of two nodes being connected. 2.Barabasi

Closeness centrality of a node is the reciprocal of the sum of its distances to all
other nodes. c.CLUSTERING COEFFICIENT The degree to which nodes in a
graph tend to cluster together in tightly knit groups is given by the clustering
coefficient. d.AVERAGE PATH LENGTH It is defined as the average number of
steps along the shortest paths for all possible pairs of network nodes. It is a
measure of the efficiency of information transfer on a network. Most real networks
have a very short average path length leading to the concept of a small world where
each one is connected to the other through a short path. e.DEGREE
DISTRIBUTION The degree distribution of a network P(k) is defined to be the
fraction of nodes in the network with degree k. Degree distribution depicts the
difference in the degree of connectivity between all the nodes in a network. It gives
the probability distribution of the node degrees over the network.
IV.EXPERIMENTAL SETUP In order to generate the random graph models, the
NetworkX module [11] present in Python3 has been used in Spyder (Scientific
Python Development Environment) in Windows10 64 bit Operating System, having
an IntelВ®Coreв„ўi3 5015U (2.10GHz) processor and a 4 GB RAM capacity. The
Facebook dataset [12] was present in the form of an edgelist. The dataset was read
and its corresponding graph was generated, which serves as the original network
representation. The random graphs Erdos Renyi (ER) random

References to Sue s Homosexuality in Thomas Hardy s Jude the Obscure
Perhaps the most interesting character in Thomas Hardy s Jude the Obscure is
Susanna Florence Mary Bridehead (Sue). Throughout the novel, she is described as
everything from boyish and sexless, all the way to Voltairean and just simply
unconventional. Some claim she had read prolifically many writers noted for their
frankness and/or indecency (Hardy 118). Upon a surface reading, one can t help but
wonder about the sexual identity and desires of Sue. At first, there seems to be none;
however, upon a deeper reading of the novel, I can t help but suspect that Sue is
actually a lesbian.

In fact, the conception of all three of her children is conveniently skipped in the
text. Take into consideration Jude s previous behavior with Arabella he is a man
with an enormous sex drive and probably next to impossible to fight off night after
night, especially living in the same house with him. He is, indeed, powerfully sexed
(Howe 514), and her relationship with Jude is one that she accepted with distaste
(Gosse 390). He is often stealing kisses and she is continually asking him to stop. As
cousins, and similar in many ways, these two isolated people completed each other
and needed each other, but their relationship shouldn t have been physical. As Ingham
informs us in the introduction, Sue says, We ought to have lived in mental
communion, and no more (xx). Ingham also states that Sue inspires the spirit side of
Jude s nature, whereas Arabella supplies the flesh side (xii).
Early in the novel, when Jude and Sue are first getting to know each other, she tells
him that she has no fear of men and that she has mixed with them almost as one of
their own sex (Hardy 118). In fact, she could be discussing the undergraduate that
she lived with for a short time, who wanted to be her lover, but she saw him as a
best friend. This passage depicts a woman who has nothing against men and enjoys
their company, but who is in no way sexually interested in them. Furthermore, in part
three, Sue tells Jude that she is a virgin: I have

The History of Disk Jockey s
In 1935, American commentator Walter Winchell coined the term disc jockey (the
combination of disc , referring to the disc records, and jockey , which is an
operator of a machine) as a description of radio announcer Martin Block, the first
announcer to become a star. While his audience was awaiting developments in the
Lindbergh kidnapping, Block played records and created the illusion that he was
broadcasting from a ballroom, with the nation s top dance bands performing live.
The show, which he called Make Believe Ballroom, was an instant hit. The term disc

Turntablism, the art of using turntables not only to play music, but to manipulate
sound and create original music, began to develop.
In 1974, Technics released the first SL 1200 turntable, which evolved into the SL
1200 MK2 in 1979, which as of the mid 2000s remains the industry standard for
deejaying. In 1974, German electronic music band Kraftwerk released the 22 minute
song Autobahn , which takes up the entire first side of that LP. Years later, Kraftwerk
would become a significant influence on hip hop artists such as Afrika Bambaataa
and house music pioneer Frankie Knuckles. During the mid 1970s, Hip hop music
and culture began to emerge, originating among urban African Americans and Latinos
in New York City. The four main elements of hip hop culture were MCing (rapping),
DJing, graffiti, and breakdancing.
In the mid 1970s, the soul funk blend of dance pop known as Disco took off in the
mainstream pop charts in the United States and Europe, causing discotheques to
experience a rebirth. Unlike many late 1960s, clubs, which featured live bands,
discotheques used the DJs selection and mixing of records as the entertainment. In
1975, Record pools began, enabling disc jockeys access to newer music from the
industry in an efficient method.
In 1976, American DJ, editor, and producer Walter Gibbons remixed Ten Percent by
Double Exposure, one of the earliest commercially released 12 singles (aka maxi
single ). In 1977, Hip hop DJ Grand Wizard Theodore invented the

Does the dominant color in a flame change with it s temperature? In this project I will

on the color they emit as a result of being ignited.
Heat Energy is a form of energy characterized by vibration of molecules and capable
of initiating chemical changes and changes of state NFPA 92. In other words, it is
the energy needed to change the temperature of an object add heat, temperature

Heat energy is measured in units of Joules. When enough heat energy is added to a
substance, combustion can occur. Combustion is a reaction in which fuels react with

The Clutter Murder
On November 15, 1959, the Clutter family was found murdered in their home in
Holcomb, Kansas. Richard Eugene Hickock and Perry Edward Smith were
arrested for murdering the family of four six weeks after the crime was committed.
During my research, I found that prior to the murder, Hickock and Smith were both
in jail when a fellow prisoner, Floyd Wells, told Hickock about Mr. Clutter and the
amount of cash he had stashed in a safe in his house. Hickock contacted Smith and
convinced him to commit the robbery with him and start a new life in Mexico with
the money. The two drove to Kansas and entered the house while the family was
sleeping. The funny thing was, Hickock and Smith were unable to locate the safe. It
was not in the place that Wells
Different Perspectives In Dickens And Charles Dickens s...
If we want to make changes in our Lives, then we will have to look at the causes
and the way we are using our minds, the way we are thinking. For, No two things
can occupy the same space at the same time. You can t have a positive thought hold
on to the negative one. Choose one. ~Louise Hay. We all have the will and heart,
the courage and braveness to let go of the past and to learn from it, and not to
dwell in it. So, after all how can something, be both positive and Negative at the
same time. Well in a very simple way of putting it, an event can be both positive and
negative at the same time. It all comes down on what perspectiveyou are seeing the
event from. For, different perspectives can show us stories in a whole other way and
in a whole new light. During the book Tale of Two Cities written by Charles Dickens,
you could see this view in many different ways. First, you could see how Carton
spend a lot of time criticizing himself and imagining that he would never be able to
change. This caused him to not even try and to just live life, in a sad state. Next,
sacrifice can be positive and it usually means to have new beginnings. On the other
hand, you are usually losing something dear to you, which hurts you for the rest of
your life. That is why, no one should dwell in the past, but learn from it and move
on. Lastly, courage could be a positive and at the same time a negative aspect. It all
depends on our own personal perspective, or viewpoint.

Political Leadership And Its Effects On African Americans
Political Leadership involves leading people in the right manner that will lead to
the achievement of set goals. This requires the political leaders to have special
skills that the ordinary citizen doesn t have so as to lead in a proper way.
Additionally, leaders are expected to have the power to fight for the people s rights
to any opposing or discriminating the people. During the colonization time, most of
the people from African countries were colonized by the Western countries that lead
to the movement of these people from Africa to western Countries and America so
as to serve as slaves. As such, the population of Africans in America increased at a
very high rate which impacted on the Africa American people to be exposed to slavery
, suffering, and prejudice. Henceforth, the calling of leaders to represent the Africa
American emerged. Most of the time, these leaders were subjected to a lot of
mistreatments as well as cruelty, in order to destroy the hopes of advocating for the
rights of the black people.
It was at this time that W.E.B Du Bois and Booker T. Washington stood out to defend
the black people in the ruling of America. The two political leaders advocated for the
provision of human rights to the black people and to the end of oppression,
mistreatment and discrimination in America. Booker T. was born in the early 1850s,
he later becomes a political activist in fighting for the human right. Additionally,
W.E.B Du Bois, was born on 1860s, Dubois was later a
The Impact Of Roman Military Reforms During The Late
Republic
The five secondary sources chosen will express their reasonings for the Roman
military reforms during the Late Republic. Some sources will only state information
of either the Maniple or Cohort organization. All the sources will focus on the impact
of the Roman military on its culture and society. Wealth and social hierarchy was the
fundamental factor in Roman life. Since the birth of the Roman Republic, Rome
established its military on class organization. The Maniple structure of the Roman
Military was determined by the age and wealth of an individual. Male Romans
without the economic surplus to buy arms would not be omitted into the legions of
the Roman Republic. Free male citizens could fight for the honor of defending Rome
and their families.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The new form of Cohort structure increased the number of recruitable soldiers and
extended military service by incorporating the lower classes of Plebeians into the
Roman gears of war. Poor free citizens could volunteer and become trained warriors,
with arms and armor to equip themselves. The notion of a professional military
would be adopted by the Romans, known by modern scholars as the Cohort structure.
Gaius Marius would be the Roman general to push for a reform of the old Maniple
structure. He would become the primary inspiration for new military organization.
The Cohort structure would become the classical legion associated with the Roman
Empire. Throughout the Late Republic and Imperial Eras, Rome would expand to
encompass the Mediterranean and Western Europe.
In the short book On the Wings of Eagles: The Reforms of Gaius Marius and the
Creation of Rome s First Professional Soldiers, by Christopher Anthony Matthew,
general Gaius Marius instated reforms and developments which would become the
stable of Roman military structure. The main problem Matthew is trying to solve is
how much of the Marian reforms have on the military systems of Rome. The
The Manuscript, Copyist And Ink And Page Setting
The following analyses present the findings of a multi perspective codicological
analysis of the examined manuscript, such as provenance of the manuscript, copyist
/scribe and ink and page setting.
Provenance of the manuscript
The manuscript is of a relatively significant size. It consists of 114 paired (dual)
folios and one single page folio at the end. Since this author uses a scanned image of
the codex, it is difficult to suggest its length and breadth. There are two flyleaves, a
paired one attached to the front cover and a single one attached to the back cover
page. The scanned image does not show the front cover page. The cover pages seem
to be made of hard cardboard covered with dark brown or light black fabric. In the
middle of the back cover, there is a washed out geometrical shape of a mihrДЃb and a
two hardly readable lines of Latin letters. They are not hand crafted. Rather they
appear to be the original factory mark. The geometrical shape of a mihrДЃb is a
coincidental design as it is not meant to bear any religious symbolism. Equally, the
Latin letters do not have any relevance to the manuscript. Therefore, the scribe seems
to have randomly used the cover to protect the codex.
The scribe uses two different types of ordinary paper, produced in a modern
stationery factory. For instance, for folios 1 19 and 43 202, he uses papers with 20
horizontal lines; and for folios 20 42 and 203 218, he uses papers with quadratic
graphs. Two hand stitched white cotton threads,

  • 2. The Pullman Palace Car Company Manufactured Railroad Cards The Pullman Palace Car Company manufactured railroad cards. The workers were not part of a union and lived in the town of Pullman where the company controlled the rent, utilities, and politics. Due to a poor economy, the Pullman Palace Car Company laid off many employees and cut wages for those remaining by 25% and didn t lower the costs in the town of Pullman. The ARU came on board and made numerous attempts to negotiate with the company and none were successful. I agree with the workers striking considering they were in a lose lose situation with their employer controlling their entire life not only their employment but their living conditions. The company had no reason to want to deal with them because they controlled everything.
  • 3. Research Paper On Pygmalion In George Bernard Shaw s Pygmalion, a bedraggled flower girl named Eliza is central to an experiment conducted by a language expert, Henry Higgins, and his contemporary, Colonel Pickering. The experiment is a test (or a bet) to see if Higgins can take a Cockney speaking flower girl from the streets and pass her off for an eloquently spoken duchess at an ambassador s party, but this proves to be a laborious process for everyone involved. Despite a failed attempt to pass Eliza off as a proper lady to his mother, Mrs. Higgins, Eliza goes unmistaken for a duchess at a garden party, and, in turn, Higgins wins his bet. Higgins and Colonel Pickering praise themselves over the months they have been working on Eliza while totally neglecting her and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Even if Eliza (and her father) enjoyed the marvelous lifestyle that comes from acting properly and speaking beautifully, they would have sooner or later been weary and fatigued by some of the strains that come with being in a well to do family or, in this case, social class. In their article Overview: Pygmalion, Joyce Moss and George Wilson writes, In every scene of Pygmalion, Shaw juxtaposes different social classes and explores how they relate to one another. Accents, clothing, and manners indicate the degree of wealth and social status of each family. Social climbers in England at the time faced slim odds, while well to do families devoted considerable time, energy, and money for the preservation of their status. So, if social status was a mask, then this would be a mask that Eliza could not wear forever because living a rich life, and obtaining a high social status, was not what Eliza was looking for. Those things were probably irrelevant to Eliza from the start, which is probably why Higgins, despite all his wealth and knowledge, never understood Eliza. Higgins may gloat about his survival teaching Eliza for all those months, but it should be Eliza who should celebrate enduring Higgins after all that time. She was looking to be accepted and to be treated properly, which is probably why she
  • 4. The Overlooked Gift of Knowledge In 399 BCE, one of the wisest men in history was put to death. This man was not only extremely wise, but also highly influential. He was a leader of the highest caliber. This is Socrates, arguably one of the most prominent men in philosophical history. Socrates is a figure of evolution, when referring to the way people think. He was sentenced to death by the Athenians for corrupting the youth, not believing in the gods recognized by the state, and for introducing supernatural beings. The Athenians were unjust in in their conviction and condemnation to death of Socratesbecause he helped the youth rather than corrupt it, attempted to abolish ignorance, and provided sufficient evidence of his wisdom. Rather than corrupting, Socrates... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The first and most important thing that Socrates encouraged was to recognize your own ignorance. The principal lesson of the oracle story, according to Socrates, is that he is the wisest of men because only he recognizes the extent of his own ignorance (Brickhouse 100). Socrates constantly expressed the importance of recognizing your own ignorance, in order to abolish ignorance within yourself. In addition to this, Socrates tried to open peoples eyes to their own ignorance, and to think with a more open mind. In the seminar reading package it says: He (Socrates) describes himself as the gadfly of the state seeking to sting men into mental activity by opening their eyes to their own ignorance and thereby promoting wisdom and truth and the greatest improvement of the soul (Jowett 247). All Socrates wanted to do here is to have the people recognize their ignorance, so they could learn from it and become smarter and better human beings. The promoting wisdom and truth and the greatest improvement of the soul part of that quotation just proves the good intentions that Socrates had. Next, in Socrates Apology he comments on how people are ignorant of their own knowledge on philosophers. He states people will claim philosophers teach things up in the clouds or under the Earth, and that philosophers do not follow the gods. With this, Socrates concludes that evil people will persuade others about such claims, leading to more ignorance.
  • 5. The Australian Music Scene Of Australia The Australian Music Scene is on of the best and is growing. Even though it is far away from major musical capitals such as America and the UK there is still a thriving live music scene in Australia. There are many different cultures and genres that musicians play in Australia. With so many festivals and gigs throughout the long summers, musicians love to come and play in Australia. Australia has lots of great bands being exposed to the world. Triple J Unearthed is a great way of exposing Indie and small bands to the whole of Australia. The latest Australian band to make it big around the world is Tame Impala who won The Rolling Stone Album of the Year in 2010 for their debut album and 2012 for their second album. Australia has quite ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This can be a hassle and quite hard if you haven t had much experience. Touring in a band is a really good way to get known in different areas and not just your local pub. Touring locally would be best for trying to get your name out there and gaining fans. Touring around Australia would be appropriate for when you have quite a lot of fans over Australia. There is no point booking a tour if no one will show up. You will lose a lot of money. Touring overseas will cost a lot more than around Australia and is good for when you are known across different countries. This would take a while to get to this status and would be best to use an agent for overseas bookings and accommodation. Artist managers are important for bands. They do many things for the band to help them; they take care of the business side of things like contacting record companies. The manager makes sure that everyone involved in the band is doing their job. The manager might be on the phone with a record label asking about advertising campaigns or on the phone with an agent discussing upcoming gigs. Tour managers make sure that tours go smoothly. They manage the tour finances, deal with ticketing agencies and making sure everyone on tour is on task. They basically manage the people who are on tour. In bigger bands the role of a Tour Manager might be split into three or four people. A publishing company owns and administers copyrights
  • 6. Jackie Robinson Turning Point Analysis 1. How do turning points impact a person s life, family, and country? A turning point can be described as a life changing event that can have a negative or positive outcome on a person. In the autobiography, I Never Had It Made , by Jackie Robinson, the memoir, Warriors Don t Cry , By Melba Pattillo Beals, and the article, The Father of Chinese Aviation by Rebecca Maksel each of the individuals faced turning points. Jackie Robinson, Melba Pattillo Beals, and Feng Ru all faced life changing experiences that changed both their lives and their countries. 2. Jackie Robinson s life changed when he became the first black man to play in the world series and Major League Baseball (MLB) during a time of segregation in America. These life changing events challenged him because he had to face racially tense crowds and endured threats from teammates, opponents, and bigoted fans. For example in paragraph three, the text states, Some of my own teammates refused to accept me because I was black. This quote explains a negative portraying event that comes upon Jackie Robinson. Also in paragraph three the text states, There were threats against me and my family and even out and out attempts and physical harm to me. This explains how Jackie felt uneasy about how the whites were trying to put Jackie down. Despite the racism he faced, Robinson learned to have pride in his accomplishments and appreciate the courage, support, and love shown by his supporters. For example, in paragraph eleven, the text states, I don t think I ll ever forget that small, shrill voice of a tiny white kid, in the midst of a racially tense atmosphere during an early game in a Dixie town, cried out, Attaboy, Jackie. This explains how because of one his supporters was cheering him on he felt he had to succeed even if most people wouldn t accept him. Jackie s challenges made him a popular name to remember in the Major Leagues today. 3. Melba Pattillo Beals life changed when she integrated an all white high school. The events challenged Beals because she faced racism and because of this she built up confidence and character. In paragraph thirteen the text states, Some of the white people looked totally horrified while others raised their fists
  • 7. Analysis Of Nyx Gaming s Brand New Partnership With Paddy... Blog 10 NYX Gaming unveils brand new partnership with Paddy Power NYX Gaming is rising up through the ranks of the online casino industry at a rate that few would have ever though possible. It seems that time after time they have pulled the rabbit out of the hat as far as business matters are concerned. Joining already popular names in the form of Mr Green, Casino Room, and Casumo, Paddy Power s ever growing game list will now feature NYX Gaming titles in abundance. While NYX Gaming may not be in and around the top developers in the world just yet, they may make that so in the future should they continue down the same path. Step by Step Speaking on the brand new deal, Henrik Johansson of Paddy Power said, Once the deal is signed we expect big things from the partnership moving forward. We have been monitoring NYX Gaming Group and their efforts with the likes of Mr Green and Casumo for some time and have been impressed with what we ve seen. Through this we are excited to bring our members a wide selection of innovative new titles . It looks like NYX Gaming Group are just as excited about the agreement, as Group Commercial Director David Johnson has said, For us it all about distribution when it comes to our real money games, as we want to get as many eyes on the product as is physically possible. It s deals like the one with Paddy Power that can continually help us grow and progress as a company . In recent times there has been an ever growing controversy surround the Paddy Power brand. Every year seems to bring on a certain level of trouble for the company, largely through bad taste or often misleading advertising campaigns. From the looks of things that hasn t stopped NYX Gaming from wanting to work with the online casino operator, as they clearly see potential in the
  • 8. Quiznos Went Out of Business in Rexburg Why did Quiznos go out of business in Rexburg? Did you know that we are closing this week? she asked. It was the same lady who had taken my order and made the same sandwich for me every week and sometimes more... for the last couple of years. I almost couldn t believe my ears as I replied saying, Are you serious? When? The Quiznosthat was once very close to my house in Idaho Falls was going under. It was the start of something that would truly prove to be detrimental to my physical and emotional well being. Now fast forward a couple of years. Imagine that you re in my shoes, with the knowledge that there is not a Quiznos in operation (that you know of) within 150 miles. Then you see it: the Quiznos sign. You walk up for a closer look, and find that the place is completely desolate. How would you feel? Would you ask yourself why? How? Because that is exactly what I did. So what is the most important thing in a restaurant? You d think it would be food. In a talk given by Thomas Keller, a restaurant owner, about what excellent food does to a restaurant, Mr. Keller talks a lot about the quality of food, and a customers experience. The experience that one has in a restaurant is something that should be completely about the consumer. If the consumer does not have a good experience at a restaurant, there is a good chance that he or she will not come back. The quality of the food at a restaurant can depend a lot on the quality of ingredients. It s important to always have the
  • 9. Feminist Theology Feminist Theology Feminist theology is based on the idea of not lord but brother . Jesus Christ himself stepped outside of societies norms by befriending the outcasts of society, which included women. Women are often portrayed as the cause of or focus of evil and misdeeds in the bible. The focus of feminist theology is the perspective of theology from those who were outcast and therefore considered themselves as equals and friends to Jesus Christ. If there is anything they desire to know, let them ask their husbands. For it is shameful for a woman to speak in church. (1 Cor.14:33 35) Feminist theologians are logical and educated with their approach to the view of the Lord as an equal who is to be believed in and epitomized ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Holy Spirit itself seems to have a feminine quality to its nature. The mystery of the Trinity is by no means that simple. But the fact that it is a mystery would indicate that it is presumptive to assume that any part of the Trinity other than Jesus is either male or female. The significance of Jesus is not his maleness but his humanness. In the movie, The DaVinci Code, (although many liberties are taken with the biblical basis and texts), there is a very real focus on the feminine idea behind Christianity. What if women were supposed to carry on the Christian tradition and the church? This idea shakes the very foundation of early and modern Christianity to the core. The Bible itself was written by men, the Council at Nicaea was attended by men, is it so far fetched that maybe the men got it wrong? This idea is radical but has an affect on the feminist perspective that is found in several sources of research. There are several ideas from a feminine point of view that even change the focus of Jesus as simply a man. There is much feminist imagery related to Jesus as well. He gave birth to humanity through his death. This birth language is feminine and using maternal images to describe the life, teachings and sufferings of Jesus is powerful indeed. It has the potential to link inevitable stereotypes for woman to be mothers and nothing else but women in the church have left their mark
  • 10. The Events That Shaped My Life This paper explores the events that shaped my life up until this point. The paper analyzes experiences that I have had in my short 19 years alive. I delve into the particulars of being raised in a broken home by my mother. Also being addressed is how that event altered my outlook on people and life. Being black is not just about the color of someone s skin. There is a responsibility that comes with it. During different stages of my life, things have occurred bringing my closer to realizing my responsibility as a black person. The paper also demonstrates my willingness to become an aware Black person. Eleanor Roosevelt once wisely said, People grow through experience if they meet life honestly and courageously. This is how character is built. Experiences that I have been through shaped my character, but they shaped the very essence of my being. We all are shaped by our experiences in our lives. And the memories, good and bad, have forever transformed our viewpoint towards our lives and on the way to our future. I am progressing as a young black woman whom is full of knowledge. The only way to tell if you have gained knowledge is through experience. This does not mean that I have a totally Africentric view on the world just yet, but with gaining knowledge on the world, I will get there. I have used my experiences as a young child, preteen, and adolescent to aid me becoming a more aware Lisa Glasper. A little girl s first and true love is supposed to be her father. In
  • 11. Hippocrates Influence On Ancient Greek Civilization One of the most popular healers in the ancient civilization is Hippocrates. His beliefs and practices are still being used until today like his belief that diseases arise from things which enter and leave the body. Some benefits that individuals may see today include insurance coverage for children that have pre existing conditions. This means that insurance companies will no longer be able to deny children because of pre existing health conditions. This is very beneficial because these conditions can be chronic and require many medications or treatments that become very expensive. Another advantage is that insurance companies now allow individuals to appeal any denying coverage. This allows healthcare experts to review procedures that may had been denied in the past be approved after review. Preventative healthcare measures will now be covered in requiring no

In recent year the school has been figuring out a budget and going back and fourth with architecture firms for a thirty two million dollar renovation. I had the great pleasure to attend the school at the time of the renovation s start. I was in my senior year at the time construction had started. The reason for this is not just to complain about how the construction put a damper on my senior year of high school, but to explain how all of the construction chaos causes a poor educational environment and was not safe for students. This is still occurring too, as the renovations will continue for another two years. The construction is not conducive for a good learning environment , says Nikki Laubham, a teacher and parent. This statement could not be more true in this case. An average day in Penn Trafford High School (PTHS) consists of ceiling tiles removed, mysterious liquids dripping from pipes, and rooms being changed around at the last moment. You wouldn t believe that students still had to manage their way around this school. Hallways are closed down, carpet are ripped up, and even walls nocked down. This picture on the left was taken by Jackson Laubham, a sophomore at PTHS. What he meant by that is that actions great or small can cause the biggest impacts. Actions do truly speak louder than words. Words have some effects on the world to a point, but actions are the real hands that mold the clay that is the world. Actions show true feelings towards something, they get the point across more effectively, and they also show the power of the person(s) committing the actions. First and foremost, actions have a greater impact towards something. Actions have a more precise meaning towards something than words. His action of striking the aggressor got his point across better than his words did. Furthermore, actions show power more so than words. Actions have a way of showing and or demonstrating the power of a person(s) or group better than words can. For example, imagine that two countries are in a conflict that was at a standstill. All one of the countries would have to do is show an extreme act of power to make the other surrender. That would demonstrate total power over the other that words couldn t have achieved. Although, words could defuse the situation before the use of actions are required, this is a fallacy. Actions have a more definite and immediate result on something than words do. Words also don t have as much as a succession rate as actions do. With words there s the possibility of them being misunderstood, actions however have a more direct meaning that can t be

Morality In No Country For Old Men By Cormac Lawrence Morality in No Country for Old Men No Country for Old Men, written by Cormac McCarthy, is a neo western thriller set in the year 1980 where drug trafficking and violence along the Mexican border were at its highest. The story draws the reader to Moss, an everyman who stumbles upon a case filled with money during the aftermath of a failed drug trade. Soon after, he is being pursued by both a sociopathic hitman named Chigurh and the town s sheriff Bell. The events that transpire between these three are overshadowed by the fact that each character is morally ambiguous and each character s morals are challenged in this story. Moralityis a recurring theme throughout the novel, and this is evidently seen in each chapter s monologue and towards the end. Bell, although he questions his own morals due to the events that he has experienced and seen, is the symbol of morality. McCarthy uses both symbolism and Bell s narratives to show how society s moral values are gradually being degraded through each succeeding generation and how there is truly no country for old men. In the beginning of the text, Bell refers to a case where his testimony sent a 19 year old boy to the gas chamber to be executed. The papers stated that it was a crime of passion, but the young man stated that it was no such thing and that he would do it again if given the chance. This leaves a lasting impression on Bell. An Examination of Festinger s Cognitive Dissonance Theory and Notable Modifications Sometimes the greatest test of a theory is its longevity. Over time, some theories will be disproved, some will be modified, and some will become the basis for a whole new group of theories. Leon Festinger s theory of cognitive dissonance has stood up to challenge for over forty years, and is considered by many to be the single most important theory of social psychology. In conclusion, Festinger found that the subjects who were paid one dollar actually came to believe that the experiment was enjoyable, as opposed to those who were paid twenty dollars. Incredible? Simple. The subjects who were paid twenty dollars have all the justification in the world for their actions, but the subjects who were only paid one dollar have reacted to the dissonance created by telling the lie for such a small price, and have actually led themselves to believe that the task was enjoyable to improve their self esteem in regards to the lie. Festinger concluded that over time dissonance would change attitudes. For example, cigarette smokers know that it is unhealthy to smoke, but they created an attitude to justify why they continue to smoke. If I quit smoking now, I will gain weight. I only smoke when I am drinking. I only smoke after a meal. But the dissonance theory is applicable to much bigger social opinions than smoking, for example: Aronson and Mills (1959) conducted an experiment in which some subjects were put through a harsh period of hazing during initiation into a group while other subjects had to endure only mild hazing. The end result was that the people who went through the sever initiation ended up liking that group a lot better than those who went through mild hazing. Whether it was a shooting in a small neighborhood of New Jersey or the mass shooting in Las Vegas, all of them would bring the same question to my mind: are guns really protecting people? Many people in this country believe that they have the right to own a gunto protect themselves and their loved ones, and I understand where they are coming from because I d want to make sure my family is safe too. So I decided to take a good look at the situation. I needed to understand what laws governed the sale of firearms, their timeline and to whom they could be sold to in order for me to have a better perspective on who s to blame: the machine or the human mind? Guns became available for purchase to the common civilian after the Bill of Rights came into existence. The Second Amendment in the Bill of Rights, passed by the Congress on September 25, 1789, states that people of this country have the right to own arms and that this right cannot be infringed by anyone. According to an interpretation of the Second Amendment, Many in the Founding generation believed that governments are prone to use soldiers to oppress the people (Lund), which suggests that the one of the reasons behind forming a provision for people to bear arms was to safeguard the people if there was ever a chance of federal oppression on them, a lesson America learned with their encounter with the English in the past. To support this, in 1871, The National Rifle Association was formed with the objective to help improve the American civilians marksmanship in preparation for war (National Rifle Association). From the very beginning, guns were meant to be a form of protection, whether it was from the fear of a federal oppression or fear of a revolution. In this context I see guns as a means to surviving, something that people of that past would ve used only under dire consequences. But some well known facts would suggest otherwise. I would say that the gun violence had already begun. Take for example the biggest shock to the country in 1865, when the 16th President of the United States of America, Abraham Lincoln, was shot in the head and

Clueless Use Of Film Techniques In Jane Austen s Emma How does the composer of Clueless use film techniques to transform the social, historical and environmental context of Jane Austen s Emma to the modern context of Clueless? Amy Heckerling s Clueless involves a storyline, which closely follows the text of Jane Austen s novel Emma. However, there are some key points of difference in the transformation that has taken place. This is due to the individual context of the nineteenth century prose text and that of the modern appropriated film text. The context can be divided into three focal categories, the social, historical and environmental context. In order to be able to address the question, these three groupings must be identified accordingly. Social context refers to the life and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My proposal to revitalize the block of abandoned houses at 8 20 Oakmount Road, 1834 1844 Bloor Street West, and 3 17 Pacific Avenue, is to create an eco space that has the feel of a space that is eco friendly and where people can come buy fresh produce, learn about eco friendliness, admire the plants at the green houseand eco dome, or sit next to the fountain and admire the beauty. This space could do so much for the community, instead of having a block of houses that benefit no one. Here is a little history of the area of the houses. I was unable to find physical proof or any source to back this statement up but, according to Mrs. Zubkewych, her 102 year old neighbor that passed away some years ago named Ms. Grace Irwin was a historian for the Bloor West Village. Ms. Irwin wrote a book about the Bloor West Village that can be found in the archives section of the Annette Public Library. An inclusive national identity can serve as a means for the development of belonging, and this globally acclaimed notion of diversity is attractive for nations struggling to find their footing in the international community. Looking towards the future, the key to achieving this inclusion is the use of culture, specifically employing music as a tool of integration. However, the decisive variable here is adolescents. Though these popular music forms may be the music of the people, they are ultimately dictated by the youth. In modern times, music is integral for youth as they delve into discourses of identity and equality, so focusing in on marginalized youth gives the government an opportunity to explore attitudes and national inclusion among individuals who are in a critical period of development. Even though teens are influenced by their parents beliefs during childhood before advancing their own views, youth are ultimately the starting point for incorporating ostracized groups into nationalist discourses because they are the developers and executors of music movements. Furthermore, the attitudes of young people regarding inclusion and exclusion provide an indication for the sustainability of such diverse national identities in the future. In Nicaragua, discourses of identity became prominent following the success of the

Argumentative Essay On National Night Out I never knew of National Night Out until a couple of weeks ago, when at church, it was mentioned as an excellent opportunity to connect with one s community. Growing up in a cul de sac with a bunch of older couples, my siblings and I were always playing all by ourselves. We were limited by the absence of other neighborhood kids. I acutely remember the pain of not being able to play with any others, other than my younger siblings. Being part of a vibrant neighborhood community, however, was not just something that was missing for us, as we lived in a cul de sac. The vista of a neighborhood street filled with children and families on porches in the evenings after dinner is nothing but a scene in a movie today. It is a dream of bygone times. We as Americans in general live lives wholly disconnected from those that live around us. We stay inside, when we re home, and then abscond into our cars as we drive away to work each day. Our interactions with our neighbors is kept to a minimum. National Night Out, which is today, August 1, is an annual community building campaign that promotes police community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live, for it is known that the lack of a true sense of community weakens the local economy, isn t conducive to a healthy environment, and breeds disrespect among peoples urban planning and smart neighborhood development are not only good for the environment, despite such

The reason why I chose this career is because I love kids and the fact that I will get to take care of them and help them get better is what I will love to do. Their health is what matters to me the most. The responsibilities of a registered nurse would be to record the patient s medical histories and symptoms, prescribe medicine and treatments, observe the patient and record observations also they have to help perform diagnostic tests and analyze results. Caring for children and infants illnesses has to be a RNs number one concern. On my career assessment test on my skills I was better at helping, managing people, and problem solving. The problem solving skill is also correct when I identify a problem I like to find a solution and make it right. That s also relates to a registered nurse because they have to talk to the children and figure out what s wrong with them and they have to find a way to make the patient better and healthy by the information provided. So indeed I agree that this career matches with my skills. The education I want to take to take to become a registered nurse is a Bachelor of Science degree (BSN) and that takes four years to

Critical Care Issue in Trauma Trauma was the major cause of mortality and morbidity till last 2 decades but after that there have been major improvements in management and resuscitation of trauma patients. This does not imply only to emergency care but also ICU management. It is well established that there is trimodal distribution of death in trauma patients. First peak is within seconds to minutes because of head or cervical spine injury or to injury to major blood vessel and much cannot be done about this. The second peak occurs in minutes to hours due to life threatening injuries and prognosis depends on initial resuscitation of the patients both in the emergency department and ICU.Then there is third peak which occurs several days to weeks and is often due to sepsis and multiorgan dysfunction[1]. This third peak can be prevented by good ICU management of these patients. Here comes the role of good intensivist who has experience in managing trauma patients as trauma patients are different from other patients coming to ICU. There are majorly two kinds of trauma patients coming to ICU; one who are still in the phase of ongoing resuscitation coming directly from the ED or Operation Theatre [OT] after damage control surgery. Secondly there are patients who were being treated in the ward, deteriorated and then shifted to ICU. There are certain problems particularly seen in trauma patients. The Marriage Of Heaven And Hell By William Blake In The Marriage of Heaven and Hell, William Blake explored and solidified his divergent religious beliefs through beautiful etchings and poetry. Blake had relatively nothing at stake in his opposition to the norm; he had been judged as an insane person for the majority of his life. However, Blake s resistance to traditional Christian tenets was only part of his socioreligious defiance. Blake spoke against the very mode of popular thought through his writing, a revolutionary style of prose and nontraditional illustration, combined with his outlandish theological views that delved into parts of his own psyche. It is a measure of the efficiency of information transfer on a network. Most real networks have a very short average path length leading to the concept of a small world where each one is connected to the other through a short path. e.DEGREE DISTRIBUTION The degree distribution of a network P(k) is defined to be the fraction of nodes in the network with degree k. The Manuscript, Copyist And Ink And Page Setting The following analyses present the findings of a multi perspective codicological analysis of the examined manuscript, such as provenance of the manuscript, copyist /scribe and ink and page setting. Provenance of the manuscript The manuscript is of a relatively significant size. It consists of 114 paired (dual) folios and one single page folio at the end. Since this author uses a scanned image of the codex, it is difficult to suggest its length and breadth. There are two flyleaves, a paired one attached to the front cover and a single one attached to the back cover page. The scanned image does not show the front cover page. The cover pages seem to be made of hard cardboard covered with dark brown or light black fabric. In the middle of the back cover, there is a washed out geometrical shape of a mihrДЃb and a two hardly readable lines of Latin letters. They are not hand crafted. Rather they appear to be the original factory mark. The geometrical shape of a mihrДЃb is a coincidental design as it is not meant to bear any religious symbolism. Equally, the Latin letters do not have any relevance to the manuscript. Therefore, the scribe seems to have randomly used the cover to protect the codex. The scribe uses two different types of ordinary paper, produced in a modern stationery factory. For instance, for folios 1 19 and 43 202, he uses papers with 20 horizontal lines; and for folios 20 42 and 203 218, he uses papers with quadratic graphs. Two hand stitched white cotton threads,
