As World War II was ending, the film industry saw a surge in the production of combat films
depicting what unfolded in the war. These films usually displayed the fighting as either patriotic
or anti war. However, some movies were produced which took a more neutral stance on the
violence and focused more on historical accuracy. In The Longest Day, directed by Darryl F.
Zanuck, the Allies plan and execute landings on several beaches in France such as Normandy to

Longest Day asserted itself as an extremely successful film because of the more neutral approach

The purpose of this study was to understand the college students perceptions of slut shaming
discourse. The research indicated that there was a strong correlation between cultural expectations
and slut shaming. According to the results, the perceptions of slut shaming are influenced by
aspects such as: class, culture, media, gender, feminism, ethnicity, religion, and sexuality. Overall,
college students were found to be on crossfire of slut shaming discourse on a college campus. It
was concluded, based on the research, the participants have significantly identified with judging a
woman by the way she dresses. It is recommended that further research be devoted to slut shaming
perceptions in different: cultures, groups, regions, religions, organizations, media and institutions.

brain when behavioral therapy and medication are given. Maybe with this new information on
the cause of OCD, physicians may be able to treat it easier and with greater success.
Commonality of OCD among the population of the United States does not seem substantial
when compared to other illnesses. About 3.3 million people in the U.S. between the ages of 18
54 have OCD in a given year. (NIMH 2000.) This translates into roughly 2.3 percent of the
population. Studies show that OCD affects women and men about equally. The ratio of men to
women with OCD not being that significant in either direction to give it solely to one gender.
This is unusual because most illnesses tend to favor one gender or the other. Typically OCD
starts in early adolescence, but is written of by parents as abnormal or unusual behavior and the
thought that the child will grow out of it. At least one third of the cases of adult OCD began in
childhood. This shows if caught soon enough and treated OCD might not have been a life long
battle for some clients. In 1990 the U.S. paid out a total of 8.4 million dollars for treatment of
clients with OCD. This was nearly 6 percent of the total mental health bill of 148 billion dollars.

I started my lesson off by allowing the students to shake their wiggles out. This helps them stay
focused on the lesson. We meet after lunch so they are usually tired and ready to go home. After,
we did that I asked them to look over their push/pull charts from the previous day. I told them to
reflect on the lesson (interactive PowerPoint) from yesterday and to think about their opinions
they developed. I gave them one to two minutes to reflect and turn and talk to their neighbor. As
they talked I went around to listen in on the pairs to make sure their conversations were on task.

I have not and will never forget those series of events. This time hurt me but also helped build
upon my character. It was my freshman year of high school. I had decided to play soccer, which
was not a hard decision for me since I had played travel soccer pretty much my whole life. Also
my brother was in high school at the time and played for the boys soccer team, and had my dad
as his coach. He loved it and was having a great experience playing high school soccer so of

of natural talent. I was never one to put in extra work outside of practice and be disciplined in

Star Wars: A New Hope and 12 Angry Men are two movies that have underlying similarities and
visible differences. While not entirely obvious, there are similarities between the movies based on
character development and plot lines. Due to the nature of the two movies, it is extremely obvious
as to the differences between the two. The similarities include the character development of Juror 7
(Jack Warden) in 12 Angry Men and Han Solo (Harrison Ford) in Star Wars
: A New Hope and a
good vs. bad theme. Some of the differences include the setting of the two movies and the drastic
difference in special effects.
When examining the similarities between SW and 12 AM, it can be argued that the
development of Jack Warden s character and Han Solo have very similar characteristics. Both
characters start out with the goal of personal gain but eventually find a genuine reasoning behind
their decisions. This is clearly seen when Jack Warden, in 12 AM, notifies the other jurors that he
is just trying to get out of the meeting in time to watch a baseball game. He quickly joins the
majority of the jurors in voting that the defendant is guilty, even though he can not give a clear
reason for his response. Eventually, Juror 8, played by Henry Fonda, is able to provide evidence
as to why he feels the defendant is not guilty. Many of the jurors change their response to not guilty
