1. Essay On Women Role In Society
Writing an essay on the topic of women's role in society can be both challenging and
enlightening. On one hand, it demands a comprehensive understanding of the historical, cultural,
and societal contexts that have shaped and continue to influence the roles assigned to women.
On the other hand, it requires a nuanced approach to address the complexities and nuances
surrounding gender roles.
Researching for such an essay involves delving into a plethora of sources, from historical
documents to contemporary studies, to grasp the evolution of women's roles. Analyzing societal
norms, cultural expectations, and the impact of various movements advocating for women's
rights adds another layer of complexity. It becomes essential to navigate through differing
perspectives, acknowledging the diversity of experiences women face globally.
Crafting a compelling narrative requires not only presenting factual information but also
developing a thoughtful and coherent argument. The essay must explore the challenges women
have historically encountered and analyze the progress made in recent times. Additionally, it
should consider the ongoing struggles women face, shedding light on issues like gender
inequality, discrimination, and societal expectations.
Maintaining sensitivity to diverse perspectives is crucial, as women's roles vary significantly
across different cultures and communities. Striking a balance between addressing universal
challenges and recognizing cultural nuances can be a delicate task.
Moreover, framing the essay in a way that encourages critical thinking and challenges
preconceived notions about gender roles adds an extra layer of difficulty. It involves going
beyond mere description and delving into the implications of societal expectations on both
women and men.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of women's role in society is a complex and
multifaceted task that demands extensive research, thoughtful analysis, and a nuanced
understanding of the subject matter. Successfully navigating through the intricacies of this topic
requires a dedication to presenting a comprehensive, well-rounded view. If you find this task

The Greatest Team In Steelers History Is The One That Didn t Win A Super Bowl.

All Pro Steeler linebacker and Hall Of Famer scowled slightly as he recalled a
distant season that most Pittsburgh Steeler Fans have forgotten. For Lambert and
many of his teammates, the 1976 Steeler squad was the greatest in team history.
Pittsburgh was the team of the decade during the 70s having claimed four world
championships (1974, 1975, 1978 and 1979) during that ten year span. Yet for many

Oakland s unlikely win dealt an emotional blow to the Steelers psyche that would
haunt them for many weeks to come. Pittsburgh beat Cleveland the following
week in the home opener, yet continued to stumble by going on to loose their next
three games. Suddenly Steeler opponents were giving back what they had been
getting for two years. A team built on defense and intimidation was now being
bullied by teams they had ground to dust just one year before. Pittsburg s backslide
was punctuated in week five during a rematch with the Browns. The lasting
memory of Cleveland s Joe Turkey Jones slamming Terry Bradshaw head first into
the turf of Municipal Stadium epitomized the shocking debut of the 76 Steelers. A
proud team had hit rock bottom. Pittsburgh s record was now 1 and 4. With
Bradshaw injured, the Steelers would have to limp along with an unknown rookie
quarterback named Mike Kruczek. With the Division leading Cincinnati Bengals
coming to town the following week, the prospect of a third straight Super Bowl
was nonexistent. Bleak skies and rain squalls greeted Pittsburgh for the Bengals
game. Three Rivers Stadium, gray and foreboding during that era looked especially
gloomy that Sunday. Most assumed that Cincinnati would attain the mantel of
division supremacy. The Bengals had a 4 and 1 record and were the NFL s version
of space age technology. The nation focused in to witness the passing of the torch

5. Music In Disney Fairy Tale Movies
The Considerations that Go into the Music in Disney Fairy Tale Films Disney as a
popular animation company provides powerful fairytale films with the use of music
that had a major impact on people and their culture. However, there are many
considerations that go into music to make that popular fairytale film. Although some
may argue that the music in fairy tale films may distract from the plot because it
drags the characters behind, but the truth of the matter is that the music actually helps
the plot in fairy tale films. I believe the music helps build enjoyment and create more
attraction in a fairytale film. More specifically, the lyrics, instruments and cultures
are taken into consideration in a Disney fairytale film. Focusing on these major
factors of music can prove that music can actually help in Disney fairytale films.

7. Persuasive Essay On Recycled Water
Did you know that the average American household uses 400 gallons of water per
day? With most of it being used in the bathroom for bathing, toilet flushing,
handwashing and brushing of teeth! Other common uses for water include laundry,
dishwashing, drinking, cooking, car washing and even watering of lawns. Where
does this water go? A small portion will go back into the earth but most of it will
flow through a sewer system heading to a sewage treatmentplant to eventually be
reused. In California, we get our water from a surface water source, coming from a
river, lake, or reservoir. With the yearly average amount of rain and snow at 30
inches and shrinking per year, this makes water recycling a priority in today s efforts
on conservation. So, what is recycled water?
Recycled water is former wastewater that has gone through a process to remove
contaminants so that it can be used for other purposes such as irrigation for crops
and landscape ( Water Recycling and Reuse ). Another source of recycled water is
gray water, which is reusable wastewater from residential, commercial and industrial
bathroom sinks, bath tub shower drains and clothes washing equipment drains (
Water Recycling and Reuse ). The treatment process includes three steps, first any
solids are removed from the water. Secondly, microorganisms are added to the water
to eat dirt particles and as they get fatter, they ll fall to the bottom of the tank, leaving
cleaner water rising to the top. Lastly, water is
8. Environmental Benefits Of Green Roofs
Introduction
There are several ecological and environmental benefits of green roofs which have
consequentially brought in increasing interests in this technology. A green roof, as a
carpeting of plants on the roof of buildings, offers many benefits in addition to
enhancing its aesthetic value. Primarily, green roofs have the ability to delay the
storm runoff peak occurrence, thus reducing the peak flow rate and mitigating flood
risks. Another benefit is its thermal insulation potential that reduces the urban heat
island effect. They also help with pollution abatement, carbon sequestration,
biodiversity conservation, and general improvement of life quality in urban
ecosystems (Xiaosheng et al. 2014).
Green roofs generally consist of a rather simple layering covering the rooftop,
including a waterproof layer, a water retention layer and a drainage/filter layer topped
with substrate with different depths according to both maximum load capacity of the
roof and vegetation type to be grown (Nardini et al. 2012). However, while there has
not so much attention about the relative importance of vegetation structure and
composition in determining the ecosystem and technical functions of green roofs, in
the last years, a number of studies have reported significant impacts of vegetation
type on stormwater runoff management (VanWoert et al. 2005).
In this paper, I aim to review existing research literature and summarize the process
and importance of vegetation selection criteria for

Market
We can see examples of Tesco s opportunistic market entry whereby it fruitfully
analyses and executes market opportunity as in the case of its Central Europe and
Asian expansion. In central Europe and east Asia there was rapid liberalization of
previous restrictions on retail and in east Asia Tesco sought opportunity in buying up
cash strapped retailers which were the casualties of the Asian economic crisis of 1997
/98.
In 10 years Tesco opened 1047 stores in South Korea accounting for 33% of the
global operating space (2. Lowe and Wrigley 2010)
The U.S market entry however, although researched heavily, execution seems to be at
odds with the strategic vision, giving rise to investor unrest and potentially 1 billion
in investment loses with market exit a distinct possibility in 2013.
Cost
The cost driver is also one of Yips (1992) key categories of consideration of
international expansion. A cash rich Tesco capitalized on cash strapped retailers in
Asia acquiring major stakes in lotus in Thailand and Homeplus in South Korea.
Initially Tesco s share of partnerships was 73% in Thailand and 81% in South Korea.
Subsequent cash injections reduced CPs group share to zero and Samsung s share
from 11% to 1% while Tesco retained the Samsung name affording Tesco knowledge
of local business and regulatory conditions.
The cost implication of the U.S expansion came with a hefty price tag. A 1.2 billion 5
yr. investment was over half of total international
11. Birth Order And Its Impact On Society
For centuries, one of the most curious stereotypes that have compelled most people
is the role birth order has on their personalities and lives. Is birth order necessarily
important? Does it honestly affect our personalities? Birth order has been
controversial issue since biblical times for example Cain and Abel and Jacob and
Esau. Psychologists have a lot of assumptions about how that individual behaves and
responds to life whenever a person is a first born, middle child, youngest child, or
only child. The questions remains, what difference does birth ordermake, and how
true is it that birth order can even have an impact? Theorist has looked at the
various studies regarding birth order most of which have used the example of the
Adlerian concept of birth order to suggest intelligence and personality type the
following paper will work to better understand if birth order makes a significant
difference in the outcome of an individual s life. Leman believes the key to sibling
personality discrepancies lies in birth order and how the parents treat their children
due to it. However, there are numerous psychologists responsible for the stereotypes
of birth order, and how it contributes to various personality types in the study. People
have distinctive traits that could be perceived of first, middle, youngest, and only
children. These distinctive traits are potentially affective in relationships with friends,
spouses, etc. The first born tend to have characteristics of being

Civ II Research Paper
4/22/16
Roles of African American Women during the Abolitionist Movement Many are well
aware of the historical movement the, Abolitionist Movement but, are they aware of
the women that were involved? When the abolitionist movement started, its goal was
to immediately emancipate all slaves and the end racial discrimination and
segregation in the North and South. However, they weren t granted emancipation
until the 1870s. During this movement there were many men activists involved as
well as women activists. Women during this era, fought not only in the front line for
rights, but also behind the scenes as they integrated their rights for freedom in their
daily lives. Women abolitionists fought for freedom through educating blacks, both
free and enslaved, circulating petitions, writing letters/poems, and publishing articles
about anti slavery into periodicals such as the Liberator. There was such diversity in
the women, who participated in anti slavery activities, the variety of the goals or
purposes in which they pursued, and the barriers in which they faced as women. A
woman who was very involved in the movement was Maria W. Stewart. Stewart was
an African Americanwoman who, after her husband died and got the inheritance he
left for her taken away by the white executors of her husband s will, published many
essays on religion, racism, and slavery. She was connected with an abolitionist
publisher William Lloyd Garrison who

all want to talk about ourselves and our accomplishments. I would have to say that a

17. Temptations In Sir Gawain And The Green Knight
In the poem Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Gawain is a guest at Hautdesert
Castle. During his stay at the castle, three separate hunts take place. These hunts also
parallel temptations aimed at Gawain by the wife of the Lord of Hautdesert Castle.
In each hunt scene, a characteristic of the prey of that hunt is personified in Gawain
s defense against the advances of the King s wife.
The first temptation of Gawain is perhaps the most difficult for him to defend. This
temptation corresponds with the hunt scene involving a deer, In terms of the hunt,
the deer is hunted because it is a staple of the diet, or it is something that satisfies a
person. In the same manner, the Lord s wife viewed Gawain as art animal that she
was hunting. She was pursued him on the sole basis of her carnal desire. This, her
first temptation, is totally sexual. She says Do with me as you will: that well
pleases Inc.,/ For I Surrender speedily and sue for grace Which, to my mind, since
I must, is much the best Course (1215 1217 ) She is viewing Gawain much as a
hunter would view a deer. She has no interest in any kind of relationship, and she is
not extensively flirting with him as she does in the next two temptations; she simply
wants sex from him, plain and simple. She is, in a sense, hunting Gawain; hunting in
that she is pursuing Gawain for the sole purpose of making him her trophy. If he falls
prey to this temptation, then she has slain him. In his reaction to the lady, Gawain
acts much
18. Social Psychology, The Social Identity
Within social psychology, the social identity tradition (Tajfel, Billig, Bundy, Flament,
1971) argues that individuals possess more than their characteristic personal
identities, which are activated during interpersonal contact with others; in addition,
people can engage in intergroup behavior as informed by their social identities
(Gudykunst Bond, 1980). Such social identities comprise memberships in any
psychologically relevant grouping with which an individual identifies, including kin,
peers, profession, nation, and cultural identity(Galang, QuiГ±ones, Adriano, Portillo,
Carvajal, 2015). The ingroup identification afforded by social identities then allows
individuals to distinguish between people belonging to and excluded from the
ingroup (Brewer Yuki, 2007), and to bolster one s self concept through affiliation
with high status groups and individuals (Gudykunst Bond, 1980). In addition, these
social identities are created and manifested in different ways across cultures as a
function of the values endorsed by society, the ways in which society s members
construe themselves, and the manners in which their interpersonal relationships are
structured (Feitosa, Salas, Salazar, 2012).
Moreover, social identity theory (SIT) has been invoked as an explanation for a
social psychological phenomenon introduced in Robert Cialdini and his colleagues
(1976) research: basking in reflected glory (BIRG). As reflected in the opening quote,
individuals are able to emphasize

based on source documents; if HST is required, whether it is HST payable or HST

according to general ledger; I can analyze the difference between balance sheet and

To begin with, I have learnt how to use Sage 50 to record transactions, and have
realized the benefits and drawbacks of using this software. As we have each
transaction sheet, we have to recognize the debits and credit account first, and record
the corresponding amount into each account. Then we record the source of the

After I have record every entry I found that my net income is off 40350 dollars. It
really freaked me out. Then I checked the general ledger, I found after I borrowed

40000 in to the wrong account. Thus, I checked, and it was the exact same error as I
have thought. Secondly, there was still $350 less than expected. I firstly checked
whether I have put the amount into the wrong side or have I missed $350.
Eventually, I found it was not simply just putting into the wrong column, but I have
selected the false account. I chose to debit equipment account instead of the expense
account. Thus, after adjusting these 2 entries, the figures reached the expected

why? Dangerfield believed that the state of the Liberal Party was that they were

severely by the constitutional crisis of 1909 1911, Dangerfield overlooks their
successes that resulted from the crisis. It was a victory as it forced the House of Lords
to make considerable concessions and they achieved the reform they wanted in the
form of the Parliament Act . Although the Irish Nationalists support was key to the
Liberal Party staying in power it shifted their attention away from other important

24. Online Predators and the Need for Preventative Measures...
The Internet is an immense database that provides users with a tremendous amount of
information on research, commerce, and entertainment. Unfortunately, as the internet
keeps advancing, online predators continue to become more successful in what they
do. The internet is an ideal network for pedophiles to pursue their interests and
fixations with young children. It enables them to locate and interact with adolescents
more rapidly than ever before. Although the idea of pedophiles luring children in on
the internetis a horrifying image, it is happening. It is through the internet s easy
accessibility that children continue to become vulnerable to these internet predators
while engaging in social networking sites. With a simple click of... Show more

First, they review online profiles until they locate someone who fits their agenda.
After locating an appropriate match, a predator usually attempts to get the innocent
child into a personal conversation. Online predators often seduce their targets through
the use of fondness and compassion. Once they gain the teenagers trust, they bribe
the teen into meeting with them on a more personal basis (Mitchell, 2006).
Unfortunately, online predators are usually looking for sex or arousal. In worst
cases, however, meeting with these predators can all too often be fatal for young
children. For this reason, a solution needs to be taken into action to decrease the risk
of exposing these young children to online predators.
However, many feel that the only way to reduce the risk of internet pedophiles is to
develop an identity verification tool for social networking web sites. Unfortunately, a
new study concludes that the threat facing children online is no worse than it is in
the real world. Age verification technologies only work if people choose to use them
(Talbot, 2009). Therefore, the only true way to protect our children is through proper
education and awareness. By informing parents, educators, and teenagers of online
predators, the number of sexual crimes against young children online can be greatly
reduced. As a result, the community needs to inform the younger generation about the
proper precautions that
25. Cost And Purpose Of Sales Promotion
1: INTRODUCTION
1.1. Introduction to sales promotion
Meaning and Purpose of Sales Promotion:
Sales promotion consists of all promotional activities other than advertising, personal
selling and publicity that help to increase sales through non repetitive and one time
communication. In other words, it includes marketing activities other than personal
selling, advertising, and publicity, that stimulate consumer purchasing and dealer
effectiveness, such as point of purchase displays, shows and exhibitions,
demonstrations and various non recurring selling efforts not in the ordinary routine.
Purpose: The ultimate aim or purpose of sales promotion is that of increasing the
volume of sales and profits but it differs from advertising and personal ... Show more

For example, the greater the geographical dispersion of a target market, the greater
the communication expenditure required. Similarly, if an offering is in its early life
cycle, there is a greater need of expenditure. But promotion budget should always
justify the tasks to be undertaken. A basic principle would be the cost and returns of
sales promotion tools to be adopted. Hindustan Lever has its well drawn up sales
promotion budget. If any business house does not have its promotion budget fixed,
then promotion programmes will have to be designed to support the marketing plan.
(vi) Government regulations:
Government has passed various laws and made rules to protect the consumer interest,
such as the prevention of Food Adulteration Act, the Drugs and Magic Remedies
(Objectionable Advertisements) Act, and Drugs and Cosmetics Act etc. Sales
promotion policy must take into consideration the government regulations relating to
the particular product, e.g. the commodity rates must be specified on the package and
in case of medicines drug contents and date of manufacturing, date of expire, and

27. My First Broken Heart
One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain. Bob Marley
It was a humid summer night when I encountered my first broken heart. The wind
rustled against the bushes that lined my front porch. It was humid even though the
breeze was present it didn t give much relief. It was hot but the crickets still
chirped, surrounding me with the songs of nature. It was completely dark but the
black sky was the perfect canvas to display the stars. That s something I loved
about my town, you always had stars. I closed my eyes and filled my lungs to their
highest capacity. Slowly exhaling I turn my head slightly to focus on my driveway.
The sound of my mom s minivan disturbed mother nature s lullaby. The car backed
out of the driveway and down the neighborhood. That was the first time my heart was
broken, that was the night my mom left.
Walking into the empty house my dad sits motionless on the couch, the lights
dimmed giving the living room an eerie feel. I look at him, drive? I asked. We hop
into the jeep and drive for hours, emotionless. Neither of us talk or even make a
sound all we do is listen to our favorite band, Red Hot Chili Peppers. This is how we
cope. Some people cry, clean, write we drive and listen.

Dr. Richard Waitt inform us that the eruption on May 18, 1980 surprise scientists
because they had a lot of data that they collected and that data didn t indicated that
an eruption was going to come on that day. When it blast in May 18, 1980, it
destroyed everything in their path. For example, a total of 57 people were killed,
thousands of deer, elk, bears, and other wildlife were killed, and the eruption had
cut open a 2,000 foot wide crater in the top. The landscape was unrecognizable by
geologist who had spent about two months before the explosion on May 18 working

This means that it was evidence that a powerful sideways eruption was about to

volcanic ash had melted the snowfields on top of the volcano, it created a lot of
melt water mixed with soil and formed a sequence of mud flow that fall down the
slopes. The enormous mud flow came down the Toutle River Valley and this mud
flow was able to destroyed 27 bridges, almost 200 homes, and highways and roads.
At the end of the video, it let audiences know that Mount St. Helen is deadly because
it has an unpredictable eruptive nature. Since Mount St. Helen is young, active and
very energetic, geologists continue to study this type of volcano because it is full of
surprises. Overall, the video made me realize that volcanoes are unique and that they

29. Elastic Wave Filtering Properties Of Graded Undulated...
We investigate and experimentally demonstrate the elastic wave filtering properties
of graded undulated lattices. Square reticulates composed of curved beams are
characterized by graded mechanical properties which result from the spatial
modulation of the curvature parameter. Among such properties, the progressive
formation of frequencybandgaps leads to strong waveattenuation over a broad
frequency range. The experimental investigation of wave transmission and the
detection of full wavefields effectively illustrate this behavior. Transmission
measurements are conducted using a scanning laser Doppler vibrometer, while a
dedicated digital image correlation procedure is implemented to capture in plane
wave motion at selected frequencies.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this regard, gradient index phononic crystals (GRIN PCs) can be designed to
provide a refractive index profile able to focus elastic energy, realizing acoustic lenses,

structural lattices, grading the curvature of the beam elements has been numerically
explored in undulated configurations. Although it was theoretically shown that
structural metamaterials provide a disparate landscape of wave propagation
properties, experimental validation is scarcely documented, with most of the tests
performed to obtain transmissibility measures through a small number of sensors.
When a full wavefield measurement is required, 3D scanning laser Doppler
vibrometry (SLDV) is commonly used to measure the wave velocity field in
predefined lattice locations. This approach presents a number of shortcomings, mainly

Guyanese. Where Jim Jones the leader of an American cult named Peoples Temple
convinced his followers they would create a utopian community. However, what was

wavering faith. While back in America the concerned loved ones of the members

However that wasn t always the idea associated with the term. Dr. Michael D.
Langone writes:
Historically, cult refers to a system of worship and more specifically to an
innovative religious system, as opposed to a sect, which is a breakaway group from
an established religion. During the past 30 years, however, cult has taken on a
pejorative connotation arising from disasters such as Jonestown and Waco, and
hundreds of media reports of individuals and families devastated by involvement in
cults.
Another commonly misused word among cult scenarios is mental. However, this
is not the case many are lead to believe that those involved in a religious cult suffer
from some sort of mental disorder what the underline cause typically is a simple
case of manipulation. What we don t realize is how susceptible to this method we
actually are. It s casual name, marketing. You see there is not specific criteria to
qualify someone to be likely to join a cult. We do not live in a world where
everything fits into little boxes and what outside those walls is irrelevant. Instead we
are very much affected by the indirect aspects of our environment. Everything has a
ripple effect and there are deciding factors as to what will be most relevant. This is
the method used by cult leaders. Like a math equation certain factors are plugged into
a formula; high stress, unassertiveness, gullibility, naГЇve idealism. In which any
singular form or combination can equal a sum we view as a cult. Dr. Langone
explains the three conflicting theories used to help simplify the complicated
variations that make up the deciding factors to join a religious

idealistic importance of fairness, equality, and the idea that hard work brings success

The presence of sexism is more subtle, but nonetheless notable. There seems to be an

believe that George Washington did not need a Navy to win the war, the Navy
formed with the help of the Marbleheads, who fought off the incoming British ships,
as well as helping Washington crossing the Delaware. These two events, in fact,
changed the outcome of the American Revolution.

There are many structures in the eye, some of which include; the retina, rods and
cones, the macula, the central fovea, the cranial nerve, the optic chiasm and the
lateral geniculate nucleus. The retina is a layer at the back of the eye containing cells
that are sensitive to light, it triggers impulses through the optic nerve. Rods and cones
are specialized receptors which sense light and color. The macula is an area about
the diameter of a pencil head and is close to 100 times more sensitive to small visual
features than the rest of the retina. The central fovea is an area of the retina in the
center of the macula that has an extremely high resolution. The cranial nerve is

Literature review In 1941 Sir Isaac Asimov who is a writer of Science Fiction used
the word ROBOTICS, which describes the technology of robot as well predicted
powerful robot industry.
De Silva(1989),MacFarlane: Productivity and object quality of manufacturing is
concentrated on the accuracy of the manufacturing product which includes part
transfer, assembly, welding and inspection etc. to carry out these different task the
robotic manipulators are considered. In this deals with the performance of the robotic
manipulator of the manufacturing system.
Su, Choi, and Krishnamurty 1990: This paper deals with the force control of robotic
arm. To derive the planar manipulator the equation of motion are derived by extended
Hamilton s principle in which it includes the structurally flexibility effects included in
dynamic load. Which minimize the deviation from nominal trajectory.... Show more

From the Broadbeach study, the investigation of offshore wave conditions erosion
rates and sandbar morphodynamics, show that Broadbeach experienced some
unusual experience during the study period. Given that the wave conditions on the
Gold Coast were considerably less energetic, results suggest that Broadbeach s
beach is significantly vulnerable and is more easily eroded than other beaches
reported. Time series of offshore wave conditions combined with the evolution of
the beach volume also suggests that the studied beach is more exposed to high
erosion rates in the presences of NE to E swell. This trend is in agreement with
visual observation all along the Gold Coast. However, the second and third storm
wave events are estimated to be of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the first and second extreme events mentioned in the study, the 150m wide
Coolangatta Beach experienced the most intense erosion because waves did not
reach the vegetated dune. The beach then recovered markedly, which can be
explained by the presence of the sand bypassing system and sheltering from he SE
high waves (Castelle et al., 2007).
The evolution of measured beach volumes over the study period strongly suggests
that the Gold Coast beaches are not able to withstand a powerful succession of
extreme vents. The first high wave event strongly weakened the beaches, which did
not recover before the second high wave event of a magnitude not unusual along the
Gold Coast. However, in these two cases, the storms resulted in surprisingly high
erosion rates. Data from a more in depth investigation of Broadbeach, using video
imagery, suggest that outer bar decay, resulting in a lack of protection of the sub
aerial beach, may explain this high erosion.
The present results show that high energy easterly swells have a considerable
destructive power on both northern and southern Gold Coast beaches. Even though
no tropical cyclone directly crossed the Gold Coast, which would have resulted in
much higher energy waves and a more severe storm surge, the erosion measured is
the most substantial of the past 30 years. The Gold Coast beaches investigated lost
between 34 and 52m3/m, which, in terms of beach nourishment, is an extremely large
amount of sand. This suggests hat
43. Descriptive Essay On A Little Accident
Brooklynn BurchettTiny Twins I popped up from my seat to look out the window,
to see all the cars surrounding us at all angles. Blowing their horns, creating a
chorus of sound. Some lackluster, like our minivan, so plain compared to the
bright yellow taxis that swarmed the street. I was so excited to have seen a taxi, it
was something I had been looking forward to. Look mom a taxi! I exclaimed. That
s nice honey, she replied unenthusiastically, looking down at her map. Take a left up
here. She said to my dad, driving the car. Are we almost there? My sister, Molly,
piped up, sensing my excitement. My dad just sighed and ignored her. I craned
my head to see out the window, the entire window was filled with skyscrapers, so
tall I couldn t see the sky. It struck me with wonder as I whipped my head from side
to side, trying to take it all in. Molly was mimicking me, she looked around, taking
in her new environment. I turned around to see how my brother, James, was
reacting. He, unsurprisingly, was asleep. Eventually, we pulled over and got out of
the car. This area was quieter than the rest, but still loud. I knew we must be in
Brooklyn now. You could still hear bustle of the city, but it faded into the
background, a white noise. I stepped onto the sidewalk. I stared up into the sky. The
buildings were much taller than I imagined. The city smelled of cigarette smoke, the
tinge of not quite fresh air. My parents led us up a brick stairway and through a
screen door,
44. Tyco Case Study
Critique the Moral Aspects of Leadership
Introduction
This paper is about the lack of moral and ethical leadership of Tyco International s
former highest paid chief executive officer (CEO) Dennis Kozlowski (Kaplan,
2009). Tyco International is a business leader in Global Fire Safety and Security
Solutions. Tyco s United States headquarters is in Princeton, New Jersey and the
Corporate Headquarters in Schaffhausen, Switzerland. According to Kaplan (2009),
Dennis Kozlowski reigned over a decade as an ambitious CEO who had earned the
nickname Deal a Day Dennis based on his notorious business decisions including
aggressive and speedy acquisitions. Kozlowski was a leader determined to make
Tyco the greatest company and succeeded well in transforming it from a $1.5 billion
manufacturer into an industrial corporation worth more than $100 billion (Kaplan,
2009).
Ethical issues
In June 2002, Kozlowski was accused by the Manhattan district attorney Robert
Morgenthau, of evading $1 million in sales tax on the purchase of rare artwork
(Timeline of the Tyco Internationalscandal, 2005). This investigation opened a can
of worms indicting Kozlowski and Tyco s former chief financial officer (CFO)
Mark H. Swartz of looting millions of dollars from the company, misconstruing
financial records and doctoring business records (Brickey, 2008). In September
2002, Kozlowski and Swartz were accused of stealing more than $170 million
dollars from Tyco and swindling $430 million in the sale
45. Rebellion Of African American History
Rebellion has always been the cornerstone of change. Wherever a rebellion has
surfaced a change has soon followed, whether it is political change such as an
overthrow of a government or just the overthrow of an oppressor such as a slaver.
Some rebellions however are less justified than others; none more so than slave
rebellions. Slaveryin America was one of our biggest mistakes as a nation and was
by far the most terrible time in African American history. However most slaves
although poorly treated were given places to live and enough food to survive.
They weren t treated as people but as property and had about as many rights as a
sack of potatoes. This led to most, if not all, slaves feeling a lot of animosity
towards their owners. The more educated of slaves tried to find ways to get out of
their servitude. When all peaceful means of getting out of their servitude had failed
they went to flat out rebellion. Slave rebellions tended to be extremely violent and
usually very rash. And when the rebellions were better planned they tended to be
even more violent and disturbing. These rebellions however were completely
unjustified and the slaves had no right to revolt the way they did.
The first step in understanding how the revolting slaves justified their actions, is
understanding how their revolts were started. One of the most well known slave
revolts in American history is Nat Turners rebellion. Along with it being one of the
most infamous slavery revolts in history it is

47. Year Round School Year Research Paper
Have you ever thought of what it would be like to have a year round school year,
as oppose to having one long summer break. Before you go denouncing the idea,
put some thought into it. Now the first problem with a 12 month school year is that,
as you may think, you have many more days of school. Well this is commenly
believed to be fact, it is not. Much less known about a year long schoolyear is that
summer break is split up into a short break every few months, so their is still the
same amount of days, just in a longer timeframe. Secondly, we students know that
we work hard, and I mean hard, in school. What if I told you that over summer
break you lose, on average, ONE ENTIRE MONTH of knowledge. With a 12 month
school year this problem
48. Character Analysis Of Dom Cobb ( Played By Leonardo...
Inception is an overhyped blockbuster accompanied by several moving parts that
will leave you in awe, but nonetheless it s a work of art. Dom Cobb (played by
Leonardo DiCaprio) is not your normal thief he has the ability to enter people s
dreams and steal their ideas from their subconscious. His skill set has made him
very sought after in the world of corporate espionage which has also cost him
everything he loves. Cobb gets a second shot at redemption. He s offered a job, plant
an idea in someone s mind. If successful it s the perfect crime, but even with intricate
planning a dangerous enemy awaits them at every turn. With only one man that could
have foreseen this, Cobb. One of the most anticipated movies of the summer, leading
to an outrageous amount of hype being built up prior to the premier of the film. It has
it flaws but none the less it is truly a masterpiece.
The film was unable to live up to its own expectations given prior to release. Ross
douthat from the national review says Nolan s movies, alas, don t support these
panegyrics. The result has been backlash: From the blogs to the glossy magazines,
critics have lined up to declare the new movie overrated, and Nolan a grim
gamesman who lacks the human touch From well known magazines, to blogs, even
movie critics have deemed the film overrated. lucius shepard from The Magazine of
Fantasy and Science Fiction says, In the end we re left with another over hyped
summer movie, a mash up that quotes from a
