Anti Abortion Essays
Writing an essay on the topic of "Anti-Abortion" can be a challenging task, regardless of one's
personal stance on the matter. The issue is deeply rooted in moral, ethical, and religious beliefs,
making it a highly sensitive and controversial subject. Crafting an essay on this topic requires a
careful balance of presenting factual information, addressing different perspectives, and
maintaining a respectful tone.
One of the difficulties lies in navigating the emotional nature of the abortion debate. People on
both sides of the argument often hold strong convictions, and it can be challenging to discuss
the topic objectively without provoking intense emotions. A successful essay will need to tread
carefully, acknowledging the diversity of opinions while providing a well-reasoned and well-
supported argument.
Research is another key aspect that adds complexity to the task. The topic of abortion is
multifaceted, encompassing medical, legal, ethical, and social dimensions. A comprehensive
essay requires thorough investigation into these various aspects, ensuring that the information
presented is accurate, up-to-date, and relevant.
Furthermore, articulating a clear thesis statement and organizing the essay's structure effectively
is crucial. It's essential to present arguments logically, provide evidence to support claims, and
address counterarguments thoughtfully. Striking a balance between passion and reason is
imperative to engage readers without alienating those who may hold differing views.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of "Anti-Abortion" demands careful consideration,
sensitivity, and extensive research. It requires the ability to navigate through emotional terrain,
present a well-reasoned argument, and maintain a respectful tone. Balancing these elements can
be challenging but is necessary for producing a compelling and thought-provoking piece.

Negative Effects Of Music Essay
Kristian David Olson once said, Music is an important and extremely useful tool
in the way we learn and to deny its power is a waste of a truly wonderful resource.
Indeed, music is one of the most powerful forms of influence and has not failed to
impact society at any age. Music is one of the oldest art forms to impact culture and
has been around before anyone can remember. On average, people listen to hours of
musica day, whether as background noise or as an enjoyable activity. Therefore, it is
not surprising the impact music has made on society. Music has been an influential
force for how humans think, act, and even positively affecting our intelligence.
Music speaks to the soul and that is why it is so influential to culture. Therefore,
music has affected the lives of everyone in one way or another and how they have
become. Music plays an important role to all ages and makes life better for them. It is
known to help with health and mental health, intelligence social interactions, and
even has positive effects on the brain. However, to every good side there is a bad side,
including music which involves vulgar lyricsabout violence, explicit content, drug
use, and music videos with negative impacts.
Moreover, because of musics great influence, it can also cause negative impacts on
society. Drugs, sex, alcohol, and violence are more commonly heard in songs
today than they have before. Rap music is a common genre where those explicit
lyrics about racism, violence, homophobia, sexual language, and hatred towards
women take place. For instance, from the band Immortal Technique an extremely
violent lyric from their song Dance with the Devil read The shirt covered her face,
but she screamed and clawed/ So Billy stomped on the b***h, until he broke her
jaw (Ettelson). The lyric goes on in detail of how the guy in the song, Billy, killed
this innocent woman by beating her to death to demonstrate how heartless he was
so that he could move up in the drug game. Another song about brutally abusing a
woman would be The Convicts f/ Choices song called Whoop Her A** where a
lyric reads Slammed her to the flo and s**t/ Then started beatin the b***h with a
solid wood clobber stick/ (Ettelson). The lyric goes on

Life Of Pi Short Story
The True Story of Pi Patel The book The Life of Pi was an exquisite story where a
young boy, Piscine Patel, experiences hardships like no other. Although it begins
with a slow start, it takes a drastic turn, and everything but Pi s faith in God and
religion changes. His faith in God remains unwavered, although he does get angry
and doubts God at some points. He tells a story to obtain a false sense of reality,
but reveals the truth to what actually happened at the end of the book. The story he
told about the animals was an attempt to block out the memories of his mother
being stabbed to death by the cook. Nobody who experiences those feelings wants
to, and being on a lifeboat with a man who killed your mother, you would need a
distraction. The distraction Pi had was creating the fake story about the animals
and carnivorous island. Due to the extreme detail he put into creating the story
with Richard Parker, it is hard to say it was all a lie, but what he told the Japanese
investigators was just impossible. There is simply no such thing as a carnivorous
island, and the odds of coming across another blind Frenchman in a lifeboat in the
pacific are nearly impossible. Although the first story is easier for Pi to bear, the
second, more gruesome one, is the true story of what happened. He had 227 days to
come up with the detailed story he first told, but the investigators stated, We want a
story without animals that will explain the sinking of the Tsimtsum. (Page 168).
##bols And Symbolism In Oedipus Rex By Sophocles
Introduction
Antigone is a play that s part of a series of plays called Oedipus Rex , written by
Greek philosopher and playwright Sophocles. This play in particular, being about
Oedipus daughters, Antigone and Ismene. Antigone and Ismene used to have
brothers, but both of them died in a war. But, as it turns out one of their brothers
wasn t buried because Creon (the king of Thebes) saw him as a traitor. Antigone
then goes and attempts to bury his brother but is caught by Creon s guards, and this
causes Creon to get so angry, he is willing to execute Antigone. This causes multiple
problems in Thebes, as people start taking sides with Antigone. The play ends with
Haemon (Creon s son) and Creon s wife to die, causing great grief in Creon.
In this essay, I will be explaining and theorizing how Sophocles emphasizes the
tragedy within Creon s character and his life in general.
Symbolism
Many of the characters in the book represent a certain idea. Antigone represents
rebellion, like in this quote: That s your protection. Now I go, to pile the burial
mound for him, my dearest brother. Here, she s responding to Ismene telling her not
to die it or she will suffer grand consequences, Antigone replies by saying that it s not
her problem.
Creon, is of course, the monarchal tyrant who is rude and disrespectful to people just
because he has the power to do so without getting in trouble: You, lurking like a viper
in the house... and You are a quibbling rascal through and through

Women of the Middle East The women of the Middle East are very interesting to
look in to. They are not just another person or treated by the same standards like they
are treated here in the United States. There is a lot of controversy and fighting for
women s rights throughout the Middle East. They have an extreme lack of power
there and they are fighting to change that. It is not right that women are such
inferior people over there because they are no different than any other female in
this world. Sexism plays a big role in the Middle East and the women are getting
sick of putting up with this treatment. This is a big part of what I will be looking
into in the research paper: What kind ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another influential woman in the history of the Middle East was Shajarat al Durr.
She firmly established the Mamluk dynasty that would ultimately repulse the
Mongols, expel the European Crusaders from the Holy Land, and remain the most
powerful political force in the Middle East until the coming of the Ottomans (Wise
Muslim Women). Some other female political figures over time in the Middle East
are the Sultanate of Women in the Ottoman Empire during the seventeenth century
was a period when several women had enormous power over affairs of the state
(Global Connections). Today there is a small, but growing number of women in the
parliaments of Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon (Global Connections). In
Morocco women have secured 60 out of 395 seats, which may not sound like much,
but that is fifteen percent of Parliament (Basch Harod). The women s movement
campaign s goal was to secure thirty percent of Parliament, but fifteen percent is a
respectable start (Basch Harod). It is encouraging to see that women are making a
difference today as well. Although their contributions may not be the greatest, it s
great to see they are at least getting their foot in the door. These are just a few
political leaders throughout time. This shows that women have the ability to gain
power in the Middle East if they are put in the right situation. Not only were there
some influential political leaders that were women, but
Glaucoma Is The Most Important Of The Five Senses
Eyesight is the most important of the five senses. The world today revolves around
being able to see and understand things. As the average age of the world continues to
increase, glaucoma has become increasingly prevalent in the population. Glaucoma
currently affects around sixty million people worldwide and is expected to affect
eleven million people in two thousand twenty(Mohammadi et al. 3). Losing the gift of
sight is unbearable to most people, but glaucomacan be treated if it is caught early
enough. Glaucoma is a family of diseases that if left untreated can lead to permanent
blindness. Primary open angle glaucoma is the leading cause of blindness in the
United States and worldwide (Goldberg). African Americans are four to five... Show

Ocular hypertension is a condition where the intra ocular pressure is above normal
range of ten through twenty one millimeters Hg. Topical and oral corticosteroids may
also increase intra ocular pressure, particularly in those patients with genetic
predispositions to glaucoma. Thorough medical history is needed to make
appropriate decisions for treating glaucoma (Lee and Higginbotham 692). Acute angle
closure glaucoma can sometimes also be caused by medications in a small number of
people. Some of these medications include the following: eye drops used to dilate the
pupil for eye check ups, tricyclic or selective seratonin re uptake inhibiting
antidepressants, chlorophenamine, cimetidine, ranitidine, ipratropium, topiramate,
general anistetic. About one in one thousand people develop acute angle closure
glaucoma. Most frequently it occurs in long sighted people, women, people with an
Asian background, and people who have relatives with acute angle closure glaucoma.
Acute angle closure glaucoma usually occurs in patients between sixty and seventy
(White 3). Primary open angle glaucoma is the most common type of glaucoma
encountered in clinical practice in the United States. It occurs insidiously and usually
has no symptoms in the early stages of the disease. There are three factors that
Kraft Heinz Case Study
Strategic Issues and Actions
Strategy Model
The strategy of Kraft Heinz dramatically changed after the merger in 2015. The new
strategy is considered to be iconoclastic. This is because the new leaders of the
company are not reminiscing in the past or using the former strategies that worked
for the company. They did a complete overhaul to the leadership and the strategies
that worked for the company. The new company objectives are as follows: 1.
Profitable sales growth, 2 Best in class margins, and 3. A superior return of capital.
The company will no longer let employees slip in to the cracks and gain a retirement,
it must be earned.
Since 3G Capital is the holding company for Kraft Heinz they follow the
meritocracy model set forth by 3G. Colvin (2017) discussed the fact that those
who do good move forward and up, those that do bad get fired. It is almost biblical
Don t be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows he will also reap
(Galatians 6:7, Holman Christian Standard Bible). Colvin explains this when he
discusses the new CEO:
Kraft Heinz CEO Ber¬nardo Hees, for example, first became a CEO in 2005 at a
company called All America Latina Logistica, owned by a 3G Capital predecessor.
He was then made CEO of Burger King, a 3G Capital holding since 2010. He moved
up to be CEO of Heinz in 2013 and now of Kraft Heinz.
The infamous company, 3G, uses a private equity strategy, however 3G Capital does
not operate as a traditional private equity corporation.
Descartes Third Meditation On The Existence Of God
In this essay I will talk about Descartes meditation three in that god exits and that god
is not deceiving us.
Descartes at a point doubted everything, and he believed that everything he saw,
everything he believed was real was false and that nothing existed as well as
himself. He doubted everything that could be doubted and threw anything that
might be wrong. He believed that we are probably dreaming and everything around
us was false and that what we believe we are seeing or hearing was being controlled
by someone or something else, that maybe we are not who we think we are.
Therefore Descartes eliminated everything, but got to a point that he knew that he is
a thinking thing and therefore he got to exist. Descartes knew that he ... Show more

Is God controlling our mind and doing what he pleases? Descartes does not think so.
Dreaming or not we have control of doing anything we want to do, and in Descartes
third meditation we don t know if the body that we think belong to us is real, we
can still do what we want to do with it even if this body is just on our imagination.
When I decide to lift my right hand in any random occasion, I decided to do it not
God. When I decide to go to the tattoo shop and place a tattoo to my imaginary
body, I walked into my car and drove to the tattoo shop and got the tattoo that I
wanted. So how can god be deceptive or controlling what we do if I decided to do
what I did. People could argue that the life we live in is a false dream, Descartes
would say that we are not dreaming because in dreams things don t connect
together and when we are awake things do. People die eventually but until that day
comes people are living the same life and not waking up to another one every day.
When I go to sleep my dreams seem so real although some things done connect
together, but I always wake up in the same bed, in the same room, in the same
house that I felt asleep in, so how is god being deceptive since he has giving us the
control of our own lives and control of what we want to think or
Post Secondary Education Essay
President Obama once said, Every single one of you has something that you re good
at. Every single one of you has something to offer. And you have a responsibility to
yourself to discover what that is. That s the opportunity an education can provide. For
about two decades, people have been quarreling about whether post secondary
educationis necessary. Opposers against collegeargue that one can still have a good
job without a college degree. However, post secondary education is essential
because there is a lesser chance of being unemployed, the greater chance of a better
salary, and it can help inspire someone to change the world.
Some people claim that one can have a successful job without the laborious journey
of college. They say that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition to a better job, college graduates will receive higher pay, in contrast to
those with only high school diplomas. BLS presented that Workers with a
professional degree, such as lawyers and physicians earned about $612 more a
week than did workers with a bachelor s degree, and over $1000 more per week
than workers who have a high school diploma as their highest level of education
(BLS). A well paying job is attainable with college. Having a successful and
luxurious life is not as achievable with only a high school education because the
possibility of having a high paying profession is low. The higher the education one
receives will determine their salary. Another benefit of graduating college is the
opportunity to make the world a better place. President Obama stated that You ll
need the knowledge and problem solving skills you learn in science and math to
cure diseases like cancer and AIDS, and to develop new energy technologies and
protect our environment (Obama). Most high school graduates do not have the
knowledge to create a resounding difference in the world. Landing a job, higher
salary, and changing the world stems from one s college
Essay On The Character Of Shylock In The Merchant Of
Venice
Shylock is the hated Jew character in The Merchant of Venice. Despite the
presence of other, minor, Jewish characters, when The Jew is mentioned, he is
instantly recognized as Shylock. The Jew accumulates several negative monikers
throughout the play, and in act four, scene one, he is referred to as: an inhuman
wretch, / uncapable of pity, void and empty / from any dram of mercy (Shakespeare
4.1.4 6), inexecrable dog (4.1.128), and a cruel devil (4.1.215). The society of Venice
despises Shylockthe Jew, yet he seems comfortable in his roll. While he is proud of
his role as the Jew, the sentence of conversion is not as fatal as Antonio believes.
For the most part, Shylock plays his role of the greedy, monstrous Jew well. He ...

Likewise, Shylock s daughter was liked well enough to be whisked away in
elopement before she converted. The Jew has been thought of as the automatic
villain, however, it seems he doesn t have to be unlikeable.
While it may not have been necessary, Shylock seems as eager as the Christians for
himself to be The Jew . Until it is his livelihood at stake, Shylock relentlessly
demands a pound of Antonio s flesh, and maintains his greedy demands. It is as if
he tries to fulfill the stereotypes set by this Christian society. He seems to be asking
for the others to remember he is a Jew as he cries out my deeds upon my head!
recalling the Jews who condemned Jesus for crucifixion (4.1.204). This man has
been the enemy to Christians and he will continue to be so. He is not just a villain
out for his own gain, he comes from a long line of people who did bad things. To be
the villainous Jew is not just something he was born into, Shylock endeavors to fulfill
the role he was presented with.
Shylock is proud to be the local Jew. He makes no apologies for fulfilling the
stereotypes, and hurls insults after he is insulted, calling Antoio a rat and a serpent
(4.1.44, 69). His praise comes from the old testament, as he compares Portia to Daniel
in her initial judgements (4.1.221). This later is echoed by Graziano when Portia s
justice is no longer in Shylock s favor, who seemingly was unaware of this character
The Yearling Figurative Language Essay
The Pulitzer Prize is one of the most coveted accolades in the world of art and
literature. It s not awarded to any ordinary writing. In the year 1939, Marjorie
Kinnan Rawlings won the Pulitzer Prize for her highly acclaimed book The Yearling.
Rawlings s artful use of syntax, sensory detail, and effective figurative language
throughout her book makes it more than worthy of a Pulitzer Prize. Rawlings s artful
use of syntax in The Yearlingis one of the key components that won it the Pulitzer
Prize. Some of the most powerful uses of syntax in the book correlate the structure of
a sentence directly to the content of the story. When describing the a flutter mill,
Rawlings uses the sentence Up, over, down, up, over, down the flutter mill was

The author is able to create a wonderful work of art utilizing personification
especially. When describing the setting, she describes the palms leaf paddles as
frail but they made a brave show of strength (page 7) when combating the wind.
With the use of figurative language, Rawling was able to pull meaning even from
the setting. Later in the book, Rawlings used personification to describe a harsh
wind. A second wind seemed now to reach long muscular fingers through the wall
of rain and scoop up everything in its path. (Page 225). This sentence uses
figurative language to creatively describe how the weather scooped up , or
demolished, everything in its path. Rawling also used figurative language in order
to describe the feeling of waking up from a long sleep. Rawlings writes He was in
another world (page 6) to describe how the character felt when waking up from his
sleep. This is a strong use of a hyperbole to describe the effects of disorientation the
character was experiencing due to his sleep. The clever and effective figurative
language that was intertwined with The Yearlingis the foremost reason it won the

The taxes collected would help pay for the overhaul of the health care system. The
labor unions are in opposition to this tax because they believe that the cost will be
passed on to the workers. As a public school administrator and working with labor
unions, I think that taxing high cost insurance plans is a reasonable and responsible
step in the process of creating a health care system that supports all Americans. Health
insurance is one of the most expensive expenses faced by a public school system.
Each year the rates increase and it is impossible to predict how much heath
insurance costs will go up annually. When negotiating teachers contracts health
insurance becomes a pivotal issue. Common ground is difficult to find because
unions do not want to give up the high cost insurance plans and employers struggle
to move toward either a less costly plan or an increase in the co pay and share that
teachers will have to pay. Premiums are based in part on the amount of claims that
your organization has over a given period of time. With the population getting older
public school systems are seeing more claims which translates into increased
premiums. I am in full support of taxing high cost insurance plans. Employers are
more than willing to offer insurance plans that cost less and offer good care. While
negotiating with unions, employer s
A Reflection Of A Experience For A Second Observation...
For my second observation experience, I went to the MARC. I had the opportunity
to observe a DPT3 student from UTHSCSA who was on his 3rd rotation. The MARC
has a system setup for how they handle each patient, whether it be an initial
evaluation or a regular treatment session. Patients first check in and then are sent to
the waiting room. The technician checks each patients vital signs prior to exercise. I
think this is such an important step that so many clinics don t do. By checking
vitals prior to exercise, you are able to ensure their safety and be the first line of
defense if they are having any underlying heart issues such as unmonitored high
blood pressure. If it is an initial evaluation for the patient, then they will be greeted
by the treating physical therapist and evaluated for treatment. I liked the way they
did this at the MARC but from what I understood the patients are evaluated out in
the gym area with no privacy. I believe with many diagnoses it would be beneficial
for the MARC to have rooms to make the evaluation process more private. If the
patient is presenting to the clinic for a regular treatment session, then the therapist
will either greet them to begin with manual therapyor the technician will start them
on their prescribed exercises. During my experience, the clinic was not very busy
therefore, I only had the opportunity to observe one patient being treated. The patient
was a retired male in his fifties returning for a treatment session. The DPT3 student
explained the pt was diagnosed with tennis elbow or lateral epicondylitis most likely
due to his follow through swing when playing golf. The patient stated he had played
in a golf tournament since his last treatment but utilized a homemade brace to help
with discomfort. The patient explained he was able to finish the tournament but was
experiencing a great amount of pain during and after. The therapist then asked the pt
what his level of pain was before starting treatment, then preceded to preform
mobilizations including: radial ulnar anterior and posterior glides both proximally
and distally.1 This coincides directly with what we have learned in class to do for a
treatment intervention. Following manual therapyby the PT, the

The Origins Of The American Mafia
INTRODUCTION Since their beginning, American society has been fascinated with
the gangster lifestyle and the American Mafia is no exception to this trend. Mafia
themed movies such as Scarface and Goodfellas have proven to be timeless classics.
However, the American Mafia goes deeper than the media shows. While they do have
the same name, the American Mafiais a group of Italian Americans and is not directly
affiliated with the original Sicilian Mafia. The American Mafia is a highly organized
and complex nationwide criminal network with a membership hierarchy and a strict
set of values.
HISTORY
The origin of the American Mafia can be traced back to the late 1800 s and early
1900 s. Thousands of Italians flocked to America in hopes of better economic
opportunities. Between 1880 and 1910, the Italian population in New York alone
increased by 2400%, from 20,000 to 500,000. While the majority of the Italian
immigrant were good and law abiding citizens, a minority formed small neighborhood
gangs that would later become one of the largest organized crime gangs in the United
States. During the 1920 s Prohibition era, the 18th Amendment was in full swing and
the manufacture, sale, and distribution of alcohol was strictly banned. The budding
American Mafia took this as a business opportunity and turned to bootlegging. They
were incredibly successful at this and their crime regime also grew to include money
laundering, smuggling, and bribing officials. Meanwhile in Italy, the

Force uncertainty: The least count of the Newton meter that I used is 0.25N.
Although the interspace of each scale is wide enough for me to determine, I was not
able to control the tension force which I act on the Newton meter. This created the
uncertainty of the force measurement. By noticing the fluctuation of the indicator, I
estimate the uncertainty of the force is about 0.05N.
Acceleration uncertainty: The data of the acceleration were
George Visat Essay
The surrealist art movement began to take form during the 1920 s. There were
many famous artists who helped this movement gain as much popularity as it
received. However, George Visat claimed his fame in the 1950 s and 1960 s when,
in many respects, this movement began to decline. Visat wanted to what he could to
save this movement, which is evident through his work through the second half of
the twentieth century. Visat was born in Corsica on January 2, 1910 but spent most
of his childhood in Monte Carlo. At the age of fourteen, he moved to Paris, where
he would serve and learn under the guidance of master printmaker Leon Isidore.
Visat would continue to learn and expand his knowledge of various forms and styles
of art after his time with Isidore. After his time in school, Visat would open his own

In these etchings, there several planets depicted with many moons and other
planetary bodies surround them. These two etchings are similar in many ways, but
there are some unique aspects in each of them in terms of color. The etching
entitled Cosmos features one main planet in the center with several moons that are
larger when compared with those in his other etching Le Cap Horn. Cosmos
shows the space ship flying near the upper portion of the large gray colored planet.
The area surrounding the planet is colored with white and a very light pink color.
The outside edges of this piece are colored with a light blue color that gets
increasingly darker as it moves to the very outside portion of the piece. Le Cap
Horn, on the other hand, shows a smaller planet in the center of the piece with the
space ship flying away and to the left of the planet. This etching just like the other
shows several moons surrounding this planet. Color does not vary as much in Le
Cap Horn when compared to Cosmos. In this piece, the vast majority is black with
some light gray and white areas surrounding the central planet. This planet along with
Undermines Religion In The Golden CompassBy Philip
Pullman
The Golden Compass, by Philip Pullman, has been a controversial book that has been
criticized and even banned by many religious groups such as the Catholic Church and
religious right groups. Pullman undermines religion in The Golden Compass through
his characters beliefs and actions which demonstrate that the church is controlled by
people who are corrupt and will do anything to maintain power including lying,
kidnapping, inhumane experimentation, and even murder. The main character, Lyra,
is an eleven year old orphan girl who lives at Jordan College in an alternate universe
from ours. Here, people have daemons or animals always with them that represent the
true nature of their humans. Children s daemons can change shape often, but after
puberty, adult daemons are fixed and represent their owners souls. Lyra is an
innocent, tomboyish girl who constantly gets into mischief with her daemon, Pan,
and her friends. She is oblivious to the good and bad going on around her until her
Uncle, Lord Asriel, arrives and shows her evidence of the discovery of Dust in the
far North which represents original sin. From then on, Lyra is exposed to the evil
going on in her world. Children are disappearing around her. They are being
kidnapped by Gobblers, and she later learns that the children are being severed from
their daemons through inhumane experiments by the church to prevent them from
exercising free will and sinning. She thinks of this cutting as the most horrible thing,

Strategies For Raising Test Scores
This article is shows different strategies that a principal can use to help raise test
scores in schools. The strategies mentioned have been used by principals in the past
and, therefore, have been successful for schools. The authors mention six different
strategies that can be helpful and certainly fall along the lines of best practice. The
strategies involved are analyzing test data, parents support score raising efforts,
constant monitoring of progress, looking at student work helps improve teaching,
practice tests all year, and good teaching is good teaching.
As I progress toward being a principal one day, I found myself with a need to figure
out what to do with test scores and how do you fix low scores. To be honest, I have
not had a lot of time or practice interpreting test scores and what those scores mean
in the end. How to improve those scores was even farther away from my thoughts?
What the article brings for me is less of specific strategies and more along the lines
of good leadership for a school. I have been teaching for eighteen years and can
count on one hand the number of times I have been asked to interpret test scores
and figure out strategies to help. The last time I looked at Iowa Assessments was
about six years ago and I noticed a large gap in what we were teaching versus items
that were on the test. The result of that gap analysis was changing from a cultural
approach to a much wider spread history course. On top of that, we as a
Foreign Policy During World War II
Foreign policy, in its most general sense, is the relations of one country to another on
the international stage. It can strengthen or destroy administrations, create or tarnish
legacies, and ensue or conclude conflicts. But regardless, foreign policy contributes to
the creation of significant and noteworthy history that future generations can create
precedents from; this includes events and decisions that occurred in the twentieth
century. Throughout this time, the United States was involved in numerous conflicts
and made difficult decisions that impacted the international community in
occasionally significant manners. Of these incidents, the three most important
involvements by the United States in world affairs include: the U.S. entry into
World War II with emphasis on the European Theatre, the U.S. bombings of Japan,
and President Ronald Reagan s Tear Down this Wall speech. On December 7th,
1941, the Imperial Japanese Navy Air Service bombed the U.S. naval base of Pearl
Harbor in the Hawaii Territory which resulted in multiple destroyed vessels,
hundreds of lost aircraft, and over 2,300 human casualties (The WWII Museum).
This was quickly followed by a U.S. declaration of war against the Empire of Japan.
Then on December 11th, Adolf Hitler, FГјhrer of Nazi Germany, declared war on the
U.S. to honor his Tripartite Pact with Japan. This was countered on the same day by
the U.S. with its own declaration of war against Germany (The History Place). As a

The Invention Of Internet Has Changed Our World
If you were to go back 1960s and tell people how in the future you can talk to
people on another continent in matter of seconds and with little to no cost. That
you can even send mail, music, photos and even videos clips in just matter of
seconds to as many people as you want. They will look at you and will probably
think you are insane, but all of these things and even more are possible due to the
internet. Many people uses the internet today, but they don t know how it works,
why was it created or who invented it? Even though everything from our banking,
business, shopping, communication, dating, entertainment, education and the
most basic task are done on the internet. However one can argue that s the best part
of the internet we don t need to understand it on technology, social, and
physiological level to use it. However no one can argue that the invention of
internet has changed our world, from how we communicate, to how we work, and
to how we live our lives. That the internet was an evolutionary step not a fad, and it
has become a pivotal part of our society which has led to it to become a necessity
and a vital tool for the progression of our race. Before we get into why the internet
was created and how it works, we need talk about the word internet . Often when we
talk about the internet we usually get the World Wide Web

mix up is understandable because today s internet has both of these technology

Reaction About Mulaa
Mulan
Mulan is based on the Chinese legend of Hua Mulan. It s about a girl named
Mulan(Ming Na Wen) who is fearful that her ailing father will be drafted into the
Chinese military, she takes his spot though, as a girl living under a patriarchal
government, she is technically unqualified to serve. She cleverly imitates a man and
goes off to train with fellow recruits. Accompanied by her dragon, Mush, she uses
her smarts to help region off a Hun invasion, falling in love with a dashing captain
along the way. Molly should watch this movie because it gives a message of being
different. And being fearless helps overcome the fear. She needs to overcome her
struggle with developing the relationship with her foster parents.

Female Vaginal Microbiome
The female vaginal microbiome plays a pivotal role in the maintenance and
protection of urogenital health. The extent by which it is able to defend and protect
against potentially pathogenic bacteria and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) is
strongly associated with a high relative abundance of vaginal Lactobacillus spp.
Lactobacillus spp. prevent colonization of potential pathogens through the production
of lactic acid, bacteriocins and biosurfactants. Conversely, depletion of vaginal
Lactobacillus spp. is associated with an increased abundance of anaerobic bacteria
including Gardnerella, Prevotella and Dialister spp., an increase in vaginal pH ( 4.5),
and is strongly correlated with the polymicrobial, pro inflammatory vaginal disorder,

It is estimated that by age 50, at least 80% of all women will have been diagnosed
with HPV at one point in their lives (CDC). HPV is a viral infection which can be
delineated into two categories based upon oncogenic potential: low risk HPV (LR
HPV) responsible for benign subcutaneous warts, lesions, etc (cite) and high risk
HPV (hrHPV) which is the cause of HPV related cancers. Cervical cancer is the
second most common cancer in women world wide and contributes to ______
deaths in the U.S per year (CDC). Persistent infection with HPV is necessary for
the onset of cervical cancer however, long latent periods of individuals with HPV
suggests that HPV alone is insufficient to induce cervical cancer (Fernandez, 1995).
Recent studies have investigated the association between the structural composition
of the vaginal microbiota and HPV: in 2013, a study of 68 HPV discordant female
korena twins showed that HPV positive twins had lower levels of Lactobacillus spp.
and increased Fusobacteria and Sneathia spp. compared to HPV negative tiwns.
Consistent with these finndings, analysis of vaginal swabs collected longitudinally
for 16 weeks from 32 sexually active women found that a Lactobacillus spp.
depleted, Atopobium spp. enriched (CST IV) community structure is associated with
slowest regression of HPV whereas a Lactobacillus gasseri dominated microbiome

Personal Statement On Food And Drinks
I think even just going through this module I learned so much more about the
demographics behind certain purchasing decision. It is amazing how much
something could be ingrained in your head when making purchases. You could
buy a specific brand of rice and not know why except that your family has always
used this rice, but you buy the rice without hesitation. I think this is because we
have this conditioning to have preconceived notions about products. Most people
do what is comfortable for them and usually rarely deviate from doing something
different from the daily routine. That s why when I look back at my purchases I
recognize that nothing is out of the ordinary. I had dinner with my friends as I
hadn t seen them for quite some time. It was almost automatic that we all agreed
that dinner was appropriate to reconnect. I ask myself now why we thought that
this would be the most constructive use of our time and money when would could
have done almost anything else. I believe that for Americans, talking over food and
drinks is the best way to reconnect with one another. One of the biggest cost
incurred on my recent purchases was my summer tuition/fees and books coming in
at just under $2000. That is $2000 for seven weeks of work. The value of an
education is invaluable, but the nominal figures of course can t be neglected. Why is
it that Americans from infant stage all the way to college age and even beyond
willing to put so much investment into education? I blame in part
The Joy Luck Club Meaning
Introduction: The title of the book is The Joy Luck Club, which Amy Tan wrote.
The two main places that the story takes place in are China and San Francisco.
However, there are several different years in which the story takes place. Some
include 1918, 1923, and multiple undisclosed years. The story is told in first person
with viewpoints from many different characters.
Body:
The title of the book relates to the story because the Joy Luck Club is the name of
the gathering of Chinese Americans that Suyuan Woo started. As a child, Ying Ying
was a restless rebel who yearned for freedom; however, when she becomes an adult
she becomes passive. She lets her American husband make all the decisions. Lindo

From this book, we can learn that we can control our destiny. One important quote
is, And I am sitting at my mother s place at the mah jong table, on the East, where
things begin, (Tan 41). It is important because it shows that Jing Mei is ready to
meet her half sisters. Another one is, [The candle] fluttered a little [...] but still both
ends burned strong. [I...] blew out my husband s end of the candle, (Tan 60). This is
important because it shows that Lindo Jong wants to change her destiny. Another
important quote is, In America I will have a daughter just like me. But over there
nobody will say her worth is measured by the loudness of her husband s belch, (Tan
17). This is important because it shows that the woman wanted to change the destiny
of her and her daughter. Overall, in the book, I enjoyed learning about Chinese
culture with the mah jong and the candle being burned to see if a marriage will last.
However, I could not fully understand the stories because I was not familiar with
things like mah jong and the elements inside
Analysis Of The Film Ai Weiwei Never Sorry
The film Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry (2012) is a documentary directed by Alison
Klayman. It follows contemporary Chinese artist and activist, Ai Weiwei,
documenting how he stood up against the Chinese government and revealed the
horrific actions the government commits. Ai Weiwei differs from other critics of the
Chinese government because he uses aggressive words, while his fellow critics do
not insult the government or the Communist Party. He uses several mediums to show
how the government has acted including his blog and documentaries, showing what
Chinese citizens go through on a daily basis.. Weiwei is incredibly brave for putting
his life on the line to fight for a better country and a better world.
Ai WeiWeistudied at the Beijing Film Academy. He was also part of the first
generation to study abroad as part of China s Reform and Opening Up Policy. He
came to New York in 1983 and photographed protests so he could be apart of
democracy. In 1993, his dad was sick so he returned to China. Once there, Ai Weiwei
went to antique stores so he could see and feel the past. Once back in China, he
decided that he was going to protest because he knew what freedom and democracy
was like and never wants to go back. This inspired him to beginning protesting and
hoping he can help make China a better place.
When he returned from New York, Weiwei noticed that the government was
beginning to shut down artistic expression. In response, he and other artists created

How Did The Spanish Civil War Affect Spain
The Spanish Civil War left the country with enormous economic problems. Foreign
exchange had been wiped out, especially with the outbreak of WWII, which
rendered supplies unavailable (Prados de La Escosura, RosГ©s y Sanz Villarroya
3) Even after WWII, aid was inexistent because of the cost of the war. Neighboring
European countries were not keen on including them in a recovery program either,
due to the Nationalist victory in the Civil War. Thus, for about a decade after the
Civil War, Spains economy was still in severe depression (Solsten).
Moreover, Franco s regime promoted economic autonomy within the country. With
no prospect of recovery, inflation increased. Spain s GNP was 60% below what
was considered the average for a West European country immediately after the war
(Solsten). As a result of the recession, international trade was blocked, not only by
Franco s doctrine, but also because of the rest of European countries reluctance to
participate in Spanish economy (Lee 248) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Up to the 50s, there was a clear anti market attitude, and a sense of economic
autarky was established (Prados de La Escosura, RosГ©s y Sanz Villarroya 4). In
1950, the inflation was still worsening, and meat consumption per capita was only
half what it had been in 1926 and bread consumption was half of what it had been in
1936. Shortages were so extreme that in the south of Spain, conditions were so bad
that families and even whole villages headed to the more industrial cities of the
country. Most of them lived in shantytowns, with no water or sewage systems

System analysis and design is the scientific method of breaking down a system into
its component pieces and studying how well those component parts work and
interact to accomplish their main purpose. In essence, this course introduced me to
the art of solving problems with the aim of making a person or an organization s
work easier and more efficient. In the course of learning, I learnt how system analysis
and design employs a four pronged approach to solving these problems; planning,
analysis, design and implementation. Mainly the system development life cycle
(SDLC) is the process of understanding how information system can support business
needs, designing the system, building it, and delivering it to users.
In my study of system analysis and design, I have come to appreciate several
concepts that I have learnt throughout the course. More than anything else the system
analysis is a creative activity. The analyst must frame the whole such that it can be
analyzed. The analysis must work with all levels of an organization, data, work
progress, gathering information through a host of sources, and somehow shape these
into a cogent whole and the rest of the document describes in broad strokes how to
frame any system, how to harness these to create the documents necessary for
implementing a new plan.
The analyst must be aware of the organization from the abstract level (e.g., the
mission statement), to the data and technical level, the
Nature And Evil In Grendel, By John Gardner
According to the Shaper, Grendel was the dark side...in effect. The terrible race God
cursed (51). From his very upbringing, Grendel was cursed, set apart from the rest of
nature. This isolation became evident throughout the novel as it seemed both humans
and nature were against him. In the novel Grendel by John Gardner, the theme of
nature fighting what is unnatural is supported by the motifs of animals, snakes, and
trees. The prevalence of nature s clash with that which is unnatural is evident in the
reoccurring images of animals throughout the novel. Gardner emphasizes nature s
resistance to Grendel as [a bull] snorted through this nose and pawed more deeply,
spattering grass and black earth at his sharp rear hooves...I watched him loll his
weight forward, sliding into an easy lope, head tilted, coming toward me (20). Due to
the idea that Grendel is secluded from both nature and humans, he can be considered
an unnatural being for he has no place in the world. Clearly, Grendel is in discord
with nature as animals, such as this bull, attack him with the intent to kill. As a result,
Gardner uses the motif of animals attacking Grendel to suggest that nature as a whole
is against anything foreign. Furthermore, later on in the novel when Grendel is near
death, he takes notice to his surroundings expressing that animals gather around me,
enemies of old, to watch me die...they watch on, evil, incredibly stupid, enjoying, my
destruction (173 74). By referring to the animals as
An Analysis Of Bram Stoker s Dracula
Bram Stoker in Dracula imagines a proper women by demonizing Lucy ascribing to
her traits of a wanton woman; a whore of a demon. A misogynistic attitude is popular
in a patriarchal society, especially in the middle of the nineteenth century. On the
other hand, Stoker unconsciously ties Mina s behavior to emulate a womanof
propriety. She is the very bane of what a progressive woman looks like but not
when looking at her through a gynocritics lens. To prepare the reader for the
ideology of the new and proper woman, Stoker gives Dr. Steward and Van Helsing
separate spheres from that of Lucy s and Mina s Character. In chapter fifteen, they
are now experts in the dealings and explanation of Lucy the human and Lucy the Un
Dead. As we read the chapters sixteen and seventeen, it is preconditioning us to
follow the ways they are dealing with Lucy. It is justifiable to call her a voluptuous
lipped thing without a soul. Their credibility as learned men allow for them to
penetrate a woman for the sake of her soul so she can take her place amongst angels.
A woman in the nineteenth century is synonymous to the term Angel. Doing
anything that is non Angelic, like the suffragettes places the women to be the binary
opposition to Angel; Demon. The proper woman has qualities like purity, sweetness,
and dainty looking (Dracula211) (220). The interpretation would is more factual
since it is from the proper man . Finally, Stoker uses the binary opposition, to present
a figure
Brutality in Algeria Essay

This indicated that the radicles were afraid of smart women. Being smart is to be
powerful and that is the opposite of what these terrorist wanted. One woman was
speaking out against women being treated differently and her father was killed
that way she had to suffer. Life for women is rough in Algeria due to them being in
this war with the radicle Islamics. The women are much weaker than the men
therefore they believe that women cannot do the same thing that they do, which is
where most of the sexism comes from.During the war women played parts in
mostly helping out the troops, also another reason they were targeted. Women are
equal to men regardless of what is said. Most countries are past this chapter in
history and women are not totally equal, but a lot closer than this one. The women
are beaten for not complying with request. Forced to be sex slaves to the radicles
they are captured by. Also being killed for being intelligent or being powerful as
well as speaking out against these crimes. After their capture the radicles work them
like dogs doing whatever they ask and when they are done they either release them or
kill them depending on how well they complied. Sometimes the radicles did not
even give the women a chance they simply killed them out of cold blood, just
because they could. The sexism was so bad that some men wouldn t let their wives
go outside for fear of them being snatched up and killed. Along with sexism in Algeria
the government is not

Essay Psychological Research Report on Perception
ABSTRACT
People are thought to be able to mentally rotate an object so as to be able to
imagine it in a different orientation. In this experiment partcipants were presented
with two three dimensional objects. Some of the pairs of objects where the same
object and some of them where different objects. Partcipants were asked to identify
whether the second object was the same as the first one in the pair, even though it
was shown as being rotated around a set angle, or if it was a completely different
object. The reaction time of the partcipant s was found to be directly related to the

The results of this experiment are the mean reaction times that it took the
participant to decide whether the example they where presented with was the same
or different object. The means of both of the sets of data clearly shows that as the
angle of the rotation of the object increases the reaction time of the participant
increases. When these means are plotted on a graph they clearly show a linear
increase in reaction time as the angle of rotation increases. This continues until the
object has been rotated 180 degrees. The reaction time decreases linearly as the
object is rotated more and more. Overall the reaction time for the pairs that are of
different objects (where one cannot be made into the other through a rotation are
higher) however they follow the same pattern as the pairs that are of the same objects.
DISCUSSION
Statistical Tools And Methods Of A Cat Corporation...
We shall identify statistical tools and methods to collect data and also analyze data to
determine the appropriate decision for the identified problem in A CAT CORP
forecasting.
There are many statistical tools that you can use to perform analysis on the A CAT
Corporation. One of the tools to use is Mean; it will help in getting the average sale of
voltage regulators per year and be used for comparison purpose. Standard deviation
will be used to measure the spread/dispersion of data around the mean. A measure
of spread gives us an idea of how well the mean, for example represents the data
(Lund Research, 2013). Finally the co efficient of variation will be used for
comparison of variation since it s more convenient than the others. Another key
statistical tool for the analysis of the data is Excel.
The category of data provided in this given case study is under the historical data
category. The reason because it contains history tables for reporting or analysis
purposes. The relationship between this type of data and the tools is that the table
containing sales for the last few years gives the set of numbers required by the
statistical tools for comparison purpose. Results are used to identify the sales trend.
The co efficient of variation is the most important tool since it is more convenient
compared to the standard deviation. It is used for comparison of variation. The lower
the co efficient of variation, the smaller the residuals relative to the predicted value
Substance Abuse
Groenewald and Bhana conducted a study on the view and impact of being a
mother of a child who has substance abuse problems. It is without question drugs
cause diverse issues in the substance users life, however the individuals in the users
life can have just as many issues as a result. In this article it focuses on mothers who
go through this struggle in silence, to not disclose the difficulties they are having.
This study included five mothers who have a child with substance abuseissues. They
interviewed each mother in detail about their experience in this environment. Some of
the interview questions and answers were written in the article and although the
mothers answers were similar, they all had their own personal experiences that...

Strong, Ensminger and Juons article focuses on a study that shows the effect between
adolescence who smoke, and the probability they will have substance abuse issues as
an adult. This study focuses specifically on African Americans. The study also well
emphasizes that there isn t much data on the correlation, which is why the study is
very important. They followed over twelve hundred African Americans adolescents
for about forty years. In this sample, it included smokers as well as non smokers. The
results were pretty shocking. Adolescent smokers showed a much higher percentage
of substance abuse as an adult, especially with more dangerous substances like
cocaine, alcohol, and heroin. But what the study also found was that the correlation
between finishing school and dropping out also correlated to the likelihood to have a
substance abuse issue. (Strong, Ensminger Juon, 2016)
Focuses on a study that tries to determine if a prevention program that is network
based can help reduce high risk substance abuse adolescents.. For their study they
selected twenty five high schools, however only fourteen schools accepted their
study. With the study, there were twelve sessions, including forty seven classes and
over eight hundred students. They were then divided two groups, a placebo group,
and then a network based group where it was driven by peers and an interactive
version. The group who were
Battle Of Shiloh
The three probably most important battles of the Civil War were great victories, but
came at a price.
The Confederate army surrendered at the battle of Vicksburg on July 4th 1863.
They were sad and ashamed after prolonged violent attacks. This was the end of one
of the most brilliant military campaigns of the war. The sad loss of Pemberton s
army and the stronghold in Vicksburg on the mighty Mississippi River was very
effective in splitting the Confederacy in half.
Grants skilled and well planned military success in the West boosted his proud
reputation, leading ultimately to his appointment as the new and better General In
Chief of the Union. When Grant s army captured the mighty Mississippi we were
able to cut the supply lines, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
General Grant and his army of forty two thousand men had camped along the river.
The Confederates second stupid leader, General Albert Sidney Johnston said, I
would fight him if he were a million. The poorly prepared rebels were on the march
and without food for twenty four hours. The tired and hungry Confederate Army
was still able to catch Grant s army by surprise. Eight of ten union soldiers at Shiloh
had never fought before. At the end of the Battle of Shiloh twenty four thousand
men were dead, wounded, or captured. On April 25, 1862 Union forces under David
Farragut captured New Orleans, Louisiana the largest city in the South. Farragut,
who was of Spanish descent grew up in the South but remained loyal to the North.
The capture of New Orleans was the key to getting the mighty and powerful
Mississippi River. The North was able to cut the supply lines, cut the water highway
travel down, and cut states away from the country.
The capture of mighty and powerful Mississippi River was the result of three of the
battles of the Civil War. The Battle of Vicksburg, the Battle of New Orleans, and the
Battle of Shiloh. These three battles were important to the success of the Union Army
without them we probably would not have won the war. The battles are very
interesting, complex, and cruel but wars are wars and a lot of people
The Gilded Age Of America
Throughout history, America was faced with many problems socially, economically,
politically, and technologically. But America has also experienced many great
successes in these areas as well. Some opportunities were seized, while others were
wasted. We can learn from our past failures and successes and take what we have
learned from them forward with us into the future, to help build and maintain a better
America. The Gilded Age, during the late 1800 s, was a time in America where we
experienced explosive economic growth, serious social problems, new innovative
technology, and the rise of corporations and corruption in politics. We have learned
from some of these things that we went through in the Gilded Age and fixed them,
but we are still facing some of the problems we faced back then, today. During the
Gilded Age, America experienced many economic and technological successes. For
example, the second industrial revolution helped America achieve huge economic
success. The country enjoyed a surplus of natural resources, an expanding supply of
labor, a growing market for manufactured goods, as well as the availability of capital
for investment. There were many other factors contributing to the rapid economic
growth during the Gilded Age. The expansion of railroads were one of these
contributing factors. From 1860 to 1880, the number of miles of railroad tracks
tripled in the United States, stemming from private investment and large grants of
money and land by the
Russell Wilson Research Paper
Jaxon King Mr. Bergmann Senior English P1 1 September 2015 Russell Wilson
Can Russell Wilson be the best NFL quarterback within his first three years?
Without a doubt Russell Wilson has proved he is better then most hall of fame
quarterbacks. By using his statistics, his win loss record, and his super bowl
appearances it will show why Russell Wilson is the best quarterback ever. Being a
quarterback in your first three years is hard to be compared to some of the hall of
famers. Although, hall of famers like Joe Montana, Terry Bradshaw, and Johnny
Unitas had great careers, Russell Wilson is the best quarterback in his first three
years. Russel Wilson s statistics were more superior then some of the greatest
quarterbacks in history. Russell Wilson... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Joe Montana had a record of twenty one wins, and twenty seven losses. Terry
Bradshaw had a record of twenty two wins twenty six losses. Johnny Unitas had a
record of twenty one wins, and fifteen losses. Johnny Unitas played when a regular
season consisted of twelve games. Do not let that fool you because if you were to
take the percentage of all those records you will clearly see Russell Wilson has the
best record. Russell Wilson won a total of thirty six out of forty eight games. His
percentage was he won seventy five percent of his games. Joe Montana won forty
three percent of his games. Terry Bradshaw won a total of forty five percent of his
games. With Johnny Unitas only playing thirty six games and only winning twenty
one of those games. He only won fifty eight percent of his games. The final way to
prove he is the greatest quarterback to me is his appearances to the super bowl.
Russell Wilson has played a total of three full seasons. In those seasons Russell
Wilson has made a total of two back to back appearances to the super bowl. Joe
Montana has appeared in only one super bowl in his first three years. Terry
Bradshaw unfortunately did not appear in any super bowls for his first three years.
Johnny Unitas like Joe Montana only appeared in one super bowl in three years.
Russell Wilson won one out of two super bowls he appeared in. Russell Wilson was
also the youngest

  • 2. Negative Effects Of Music Essay Kristian David Olson once said, Music is an important and extremely useful tool in the way we learn and to deny its power is a waste of a truly wonderful resource. Indeed, music is one of the most powerful forms of influence and has not failed to impact society at any age. Music is one of the oldest art forms to impact culture and has been around before anyone can remember. On average, people listen to hours of musica day, whether as background noise or as an enjoyable activity. Therefore, it is not surprising the impact music has made on society. Music has been an influential force for how humans think, act, and even positively affecting our intelligence. Music speaks to the soul and that is why it is so influential to culture. Therefore, music has affected the lives of everyone in one way or another and how they have become. Music plays an important role to all ages and makes life better for them. It is known to help with health and mental health, intelligence social interactions, and even has positive effects on the brain. However, to every good side there is a bad side, including music which involves vulgar lyricsabout violence, explicit content, drug use, and music videos with negative impacts. Moreover, because of musics great influence, it can also cause negative impacts on society. Drugs, sex, alcohol, and violence are more commonly heard in songs today than they have before. Rap music is a common genre where those explicit lyrics about racism, violence, homophobia, sexual language, and hatred towards women take place. For instance, from the band Immortal Technique an extremely violent lyric from their song Dance with the Devil read The shirt covered her face, but she screamed and clawed/ So Billy stomped on the b***h, until he broke her jaw (Ettelson). The lyric goes on in detail of how the guy in the song, Billy, killed this innocent woman by beating her to death to demonstrate how heartless he was so that he could move up in the drug game. Another song about brutally abusing a woman would be The Convicts f/ Choices song called Whoop Her A** where a lyric reads Slammed her to the flo and s**t/ Then started beatin the b***h with a solid wood clobber stick/ (Ettelson). The lyric goes on

  • 4. Life Of Pi Short Story The True Story of Pi Patel The book The Life of Pi was an exquisite story where a young boy, Piscine Patel, experiences hardships like no other. Although it begins with a slow start, it takes a drastic turn, and everything but Pi s faith in God and religion changes. His faith in God remains unwavered, although he does get angry and doubts God at some points. He tells a story to obtain a false sense of reality, but reveals the truth to what actually happened at the end of the book. The story he told about the animals was an attempt to block out the memories of his mother being stabbed to death by the cook. Nobody who experiences those feelings wants to, and being on a lifeboat with a man who killed your mother, you would need a distraction. The distraction Pi had was creating the fake story about the animals and carnivorous island. Due to the extreme detail he put into creating the story with Richard Parker, it is hard to say it was all a lie, but what he told the Japanese investigators was just impossible. There is simply no such thing as a carnivorous island, and the odds of coming across another blind Frenchman in a lifeboat in the pacific are nearly impossible. Although the first story is easier for Pi to bear, the second, more gruesome one, is the true story of what happened. He had 227 days to come up with the detailed story he first told, but the investigators stated, We want a story without animals that will explain the sinking of the Tsimtsum. (Page 168).
  • 5. ##bols And Symbolism In Oedipus Rex By Sophocles Introduction Antigone is a play that s part of a series of plays called Oedipus Rex , written by Greek philosopher and playwright Sophocles. This play in particular, being about Oedipus daughters, Antigone and Ismene. Antigone and Ismene used to have brothers, but both of them died in a war. But, as it turns out one of their brothers wasn t buried because Creon (the king of Thebes) saw him as a traitor. Antigone then goes and attempts to bury his brother but is caught by Creon s guards, and this causes Creon to get so angry, he is willing to execute Antigone. This causes multiple problems in Thebes, as people start taking sides with Antigone. The play ends with Haemon (Creon s son) and Creon s wife to die, causing great grief in Creon. In this essay, I will be explaining and theorizing how Sophocles emphasizes the tragedy within Creon s character and his life in general. Symbolism Many of the characters in the book represent a certain idea. Antigone represents rebellion, like in this quote: That s your protection. Now I go, to pile the burial mound for him, my dearest brother. Here, she s responding to Ismene telling her not to die it or she will suffer grand consequences, Antigone replies by saying that it s not her problem. Creon, is of course, the monarchal tyrant who is rude and disrespectful to people just because he has the power to do so without getting in trouble: You, lurking like a viper in the house... and You are a quibbling rascal through and through

They are not just another person or treated by the same standards like they are treated here in the United States. There is a lot of controversy and fighting for women s rights throughout the Middle East. They have an extreme lack of power there and they are fighting to change that. It is not right that women are such inferior people over there because they are no different than any other female in this world. Sexism plays a big role in the Middle East and the women are getting sick of putting up with this treatment. This is a big part of what I will be looking into in the research paper: What kind ... She firmly established the Mamluk dynasty that would ultimately repulse the Mongols, expel the European Crusaders from the Holy Land, and remain the most powerful political force in the Middle East until the coming of the Ottomans (Wise Muslim Women). Some other female political figures over time in the Middle East are the Sultanate of Women in the Ottoman Empire during the seventeenth century was a period when several women had enormous power over affairs of the state (Global Connections). Today there is a small, but growing number of women in the parliaments of Turkey, Egypt, Jordan, and Lebanon (Global Connections). In Morocco women have secured 60 out of 395 seats, which may not sound like much, but that is fifteen percent of Parliament (Basch Harod). The women s movement campaign s goal was to secure thirty percent of Parliament, but fifteen percent is a respectable start (Basch Harod). It is encouraging to see that women are making a difference today as well. Although their contributions may not be the greatest, it s great to see they are at least getting their foot in the door. These are just a few political leaders throughout time. This shows that women have the ability to gain power in the Middle East if they are put in the right situation. Not only were there some influential political leaders that were women, but

This is because the new leaders of the company are not reminiscing in the past or using the former strategies that worked for the company. They did a complete overhaul to the leadership and the strategies that worked for the company. The new company objectives are as follows: 1. Profitable sales growth, 2 Best in class margins, and 3. A superior return of capital. The company will no longer let employees slip in to the cracks and gain a retirement, it must be earned. Since 3G Capital is the holding company for Kraft Heinz they follow the meritocracy model set forth by 3G. Colvin (2017) discussed the fact that those who do good move forward and up, those that do bad get fired. It is almost biblical Don t be deceived: God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows he will also reap (Galatians 6:7, Holman Christian Standard Bible). Colvin explains this when he discusses the new CEO: Kraft Heinz CEO Ber¬nardo Hees, for example, first became a CEO in 2005 at a company called All America Latina Logistica, owned by a 3G Capital predecessor. He was then made CEO of Burger King, a 3G Capital holding since 2010. He moved up to be CEO of Heinz in 2013 and now of Kraft Heinz. The infamous company, 3G, uses a private equity strategy, however 3G Capital does not operate as a traditional private equity corporation.
  • 10. Descartes Third Meditation On The Existence Of God In this essay I will talk about Descartes meditation three in that god exits and that god is not deceiving us. Descartes at a point doubted everything, and he believed that everything he saw, everything he believed was real was false and that nothing existed as well as himself. He doubted everything that could be doubted and threw anything that might be wrong. He believed that we are probably dreaming and everything around us was false and that what we believe we are seeing or hearing was being controlled by someone or something else, that maybe we are not who we think we are. Therefore Descartes eliminated everything, but got to a point that he knew that he is a thinking thing and therefore he got to exist. Descartes knew that he ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Is God controlling our mind and doing what he pleases? Descartes does not think so. Dreaming or not we have control of doing anything we want to do, and in Descartes third meditation we don t know if the body that we think belong to us is real, we can still do what we want to do with it even if this body is just on our imagination. When I decide to lift my right hand in any random occasion, I decided to do it not God. When I decide to go to the tattoo shop and place a tattoo to my imaginary body, I walked into my car and drove to the tattoo shop and got the tattoo that I wanted. So how can god be deceptive or controlling what we do if I decided to do what I did. People could argue that the life we live in is a false dream, Descartes would say that we are not dreaming because in dreams things don t connect together and when we are awake things do. People die eventually but until that day comes people are living the same life and not waking up to another one every day. When I go to sleep my dreams seem so real although some things done connect together, but I always wake up in the same bed, in the same room, in the same house that I felt asleep in, so how is god being deceptive since he has giving us the control of our own lives and control of what we want to think or

Despite the presence of other, minor, Jewish characters, when The Jew is mentioned, he is instantly recognized as Shylock. The Jew accumulates several negative monikers throughout the play, and in act four, scene one, he is referred to as: an inhuman wretch, / uncapable of pity, void and empty / from any dram of mercy (Shakespeare 4.1.4 6), inexecrable dog (4.1.128), and a cruel devil (4.1.215). Until it is his livelihood at stake, Shylock relentlessly demands a pound of Antonio s flesh, and maintains his greedy demands. It is as if he tries to fulfill the stereotypes set by this Christian society. He seems to be asking for the others to remember he is a Jew as he cries out my deeds upon my head! recalling the Jews who condemned Jesus for crucifixion (4.1.204). This man has been the enemy to Christians and he will continue to be so. He is not just a villain out for his own gain, he comes from a long line of people who did bad things. To be the villainous Jew is not just something he was born into, Shylock endeavors to fulfill the role he was presented with. Shylock is proud to be the local Jew. He makes no apologies for fulfilling the stereotypes, and hurls insults after he is insulted, calling Antoio a rat and a serpent (4.1.44, 69). His praise comes from the old testament, as he compares Portia to Daniel in her initial judgements (4.1.221). This later is echoed by Graziano when Portia s justice is no longer in Shylock s favor, who seemingly was unaware of this character

Health insurance is one of the most expensive expenses faced by a public school system. Each year the rates increase and it is impossible to predict how much heath insurance costs will go up annually. When negotiating teachers contracts health insurance becomes a pivotal issue. Common ground is difficult to find because unions do not want to give up the high cost insurance plans and employers struggle to move toward either a less costly plan or an increase in the co pay and share that teachers will have to pay. • 15. A Reflection Of A Experience For A Second Observation... For my second observation experience, I went to the MARC. I had the opportunity to observe a DPT3 student from UTHSCSA who was on his 3rd rotation. The MARC has a system setup for how they handle each patient, whether it be an initial evaluation or a regular treatment session. Patients first check in and then are sent to the waiting room. The technician checks each patients vital signs prior to exercise. I think this is such an important step that so many clinics don t do. By checking vitals prior to exercise, you are able to ensure their safety and be the first line of defense if they are having any underlying heart issues such as unmonitored high blood pressure. If it is an initial evaluation for the patient, then they will be greeted by the treating physical therapist and evaluated for treatment. I liked the way they did this at the MARC but from what I understood the patients are evaluated out in the gym area with no privacy. I believe with many diagnoses it would be beneficial for the MARC to have rooms to make the evaluation process more private. If the patient is presenting to the clinic for a regular treatment session, then the therapist will either greet them to begin with manual therapyor the technician will start them on their prescribed exercises. During my experience, the clinic was not very busy therefore, I only had the opportunity to observe one patient being treated. The patient was a retired male in his fifties returning for a treatment session. The DPT3 student explained the pt was diagnosed with tennis elbow or lateral epicondylitis most likely due to his follow through swing when playing golf. The patient stated he had played in a golf tournament since his last treatment but utilized a homemade brace to help with discomfort. The patient explained he was able to finish the tournament but was experiencing a great amount of pain during and after. The American Mafia is a highly organized and complex nationwide criminal network with a membership hierarchy and a strict set of values. Between 1880 and 1910, the Italian population in New York alone increased by 2400%, from 20,000 to 500,000. While the majority of the Italian immigrant were good and law abiding citizens, a minority formed small neighborhood gangs that would later become one of the largest organized crime gangs in the United States. During the 1920 s Prohibition era, the 18th Amendment was in full swing and the manufacture, sale, and distribution of alcohol was strictly banned. The budding American Mafia took this as a business opportunity and turned to bootlegging. They were incredibly successful at this and their crime regime also grew to include money laundering, smuggling, and bribing officials. Meanwhile in Italy, the

Pullman undermines religion in The Golden Compass through his characters beliefs and actions which demonstrate that the church is controlled by people who are corrupt and will do anything to maintain power including lying, kidnapping, inhumane experimentation, and even murder. The main character, Lyra, is an eleven year old orphan girl who lives at Jordan College in an alternate universe from ours. Here, people have daemons or animals always with them that represent the true nature of their humans. Children s daemons can change shape often, but after puberty, adult daemons are fixed and represent their owners souls. The extent by which it is able to defend and protect against potentially pathogenic bacteria and sexually transmitted infections (STIs) is strongly associated with a high relative abundance of vaginal Lactobacillus spp. Lactobacillus spp. prevent colonization of potential pathogens through the production of lactic acid, bacteriocins and biosurfactants. Conversely, depletion of vaginal Lactobacillus spp. is associated with an increased abundance of anaerobic bacteria including Gardnerella, Prevotella and Dialister spp., an increase in vaginal pH ( 4.5), and is strongly correlated with the polymicrobial, pro inflammatory vaginal disorder, ... HPV is a viral infection which can be delineated into two categories based upon oncogenic potential: low risk HPV (LR HPV) responsible for benign subcutaneous warts, lesions, etc (cite) and high risk HPV (hrHPV) which is the cause of HPV related cancers. Cervical cancer is the second most common cancer in women world wide and contributes to ______ deaths in the U.S per year (CDC). Persistent infection with HPV is necessary for the onset of cervical cancer however, long latent periods of individuals with HPV suggests that HPV alone is insufficient to induce cervical cancer (Fernandez, 1995). Recent studies have investigated the association between the structural composition of the vaginal microbiota and HPV: in 2013, a study of 68 HPV discordant female korena twins showed that HPV positive twins had lower levels of Lactobacillus spp. and increased Fusobacteria and Sneathia spp. compared to HPV negative tiwns. Consistent with these finndings, analysis of vaginal swabs collected longitudinally for 16 weeks from 32 sexually active women found that a Lactobacillus spp. depleted, Atopobium spp. enriched (CST IV) community structure is associated with slowest regression of HPV whereas a Lactobacillus gasseri dominated microbiome (CST II)

It is amazing how much something could be ingrained in your head when making purchases. You could buy a specific brand of rice and not know why except that your family has always used this rice, but you buy the rice without hesitation. I think this is because we have this conditioning to have preconceived notions about products. Most people do what is comfortable for them and usually rarely deviate from doing something different from the daily routine. That s why when I look back at my purchases I recognize that nothing is out of the ordinary. I had dinner with my friends as I hadn t seen them for quite some time. It was almost automatic that we all agreed that dinner was appropriate to reconnect. I ask myself now why we thought that this would be the most constructive use of our time and money when would could have done almost anything else. I believe that for Americans, talking over food and drinks is the best way to reconnect with one another. One of the biggest cost incurred on my recent purchases was my summer tuition/fees and books coming in at just under $2000. That is $2000 for seven weeks of work. The value of an education is invaluable, but the nominal figures of course can t be neglected. Why is it that Americans from infant stage all the way to college age and even beyond willing to put so much investment into education? I blame in part

It follows contemporary Chinese artist and activist, Ai Weiwei, documenting how he stood up against the Chinese government and revealed the horrific actions the government commits. Ai Weiwei differs from other critics of the Chinese government because he uses aggressive words, while his fellow critics do not insult the government or the Communist Party. He uses several mediums to show how the government has acted including his blog and documentaries, showing what Chinese citizens go through on a daily basis.. Foreign exchange had been wiped out, especially with the outbreak of WWII, which rendered supplies unavailable (Prados de La Escosura, RosГ©s y Sanz Villarroya 3) Even after WWII, aid was inexistent because of the cost of the war. Neighboring European countries were not keen on including them in a recovery program either, due to the Nationalist victory in the Civil War. Thus, for about a decade after the Civil War, Spains economy was still in severe depression (Solsten). Moreover, Franco s regime promoted economic autonomy within the country. With no prospect of recovery, inflation increased. Spain s GNP was 60% below what was considered the average for a West European country immediately after the war (Solsten). Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... System analysis and design is the scientific method of breaking down a system into its component pieces and studying how well those component parts work and interact to accomplish their main purpose. In essence, this course introduced me to the art of solving problems with the aim of making a person or an organization s work easier and more efficient. In the course of learning, I learnt how system analysis and design employs a four pronged approach to solving these problems; planning, analysis, design and implementation. Mainly the system development life cycle (SDLC) is the process of understanding how information system can support business needs, designing the system, building it, and delivering it to users. In my study of system analysis and design, I have come to appreciate several concepts that I have learnt throughout the course. More than anything else the system analysis is a creative activity. The analyst must frame the whole such that it can be analyzed. The analysis must work with all levels of an organization, data, work progress, gathering information through a host of sources, and somehow shape these into a cogent whole and the rest of the document describes in broad strokes how to frame any system, how to harness these to create the documents necessary for implementing a new plan. The analyst must be aware of the organization from the abstract level (e.g., the mission statement), to the data and technical level, the

From his very upbringing, Grendel was cursed, set apart from the rest of nature. This isolation became evident throughout the novel as it seemed both humans and nature were against him. In the novel Grendel by John Gardner, the theme of nature fighting what is unnatural is supported by the motifs of animals, snakes, and trees. The prevalence of nature s clash with that which is unnatural is evident in the reoccurring images of animals throughout the novel. Gardner emphasizes nature s resistance to Grendel as [a bull] snorted through this nose and pawed more deeply, spattering grass and black earth at his sharp rear hooves...I watched him loll his weight forward, sliding into an easy lope, head tilted, coming toward me (20). Due to the idea that Grendel is secluded from both nature and humans, he can be considered an unnatural being for he has no place in the world. Clearly, Grendel is in discord with nature as animals, such as this bull, attack him with the intent to kill. As a result, Gardner uses the motif of animals attacking Grendel to suggest that nature as a whole is against anything foreign. Furthermore, later on in the novel when Grendel is near death, he takes notice to his surroundings expressing that animals gather around me, enemies of old, to watch me die...they watch on, evil, incredibly stupid, enjoying, my destruction (173 74). By referring to the animals as
  • 34. An Analysis Of Bram Stoker s Dracula Bram Stoker in Dracula imagines a proper women by demonizing Lucy ascribing to her traits of a wanton woman; a whore of a demon. A misogynistic attitude is popular in a patriarchal society, especially in the middle of the nineteenth century. On the other hand, Stoker unconsciously ties Mina s behavior to emulate a womanof propriety. She is the very bane of what a progressive woman looks like but not when looking at her through a gynocritics lens. To prepare the reader for the ideology of the new and proper woman, Stoker gives Dr. Steward and Van Helsing separate spheres from that of Lucy s and Mina s Character. In chapter fifteen, they are now experts in the dealings and explanation of Lucy the human and Lucy the Un Dead. As we read the chapters sixteen and seventeen, it is preconditioning us to follow the ways they are dealing with Lucy. It is justifiable to call her a voluptuous lipped thing without a soul. Their credibility as learned men allow for them to penetrate a woman for the sake of her soul so she can take her place amongst angels. A woman in the nineteenth century is synonymous to the term Angel. Doing anything that is non Angelic, like the suffragettes places the women to be the binary opposition to Angel; Demon. The proper woman has qualities like purity, sweetness, and dainty looking (Dracula211) (220). The interpretation would is more factual since it is from the proper man . Finally, Stoker uses the binary opposition, to present a figure

In this experiment partcipants were presented with two three dimensional objects. Some of the pairs of objects where the same object and some of them where different objects. Partcipants were asked to identify whether the second object was the same as the first one in the pair, even though it was shown as being rotated around a set angle, or if it was a completely different object. The object was rotated to one of 8 possible degrees in increments of 45 degrees from 0 to 360. The structure of the experiment was that the participant goes to the website and chooses the experiment. Then the participant is asked to give informed consent and the experiment begins. The participant is presented with a pair of shapes and asked to decide whether the shapes are of the same or different images (whether one can be turned into the other by a rotation). The participant clicks a button to specify whether the images are the same or different. RESULTS The results of this experiment are the mean reaction times that it took the participant to decide whether the example they where presented with was the same or different object. The means of both of the sets of data clearly shows that as the angle of the rotation of the object increases the reaction time of the participant increases. When these means are plotted on a graph they clearly show a linear increase in reaction time as the angle of rotation increases. This continues until the object has been rotated 180 degrees. The reaction time decreases linearly as the object is rotated more and more. Overall the reaction time for the pairs that are of different objects (where one cannot be made into the other through a rotation are higher) however they follow the same pattern as the pairs that are of the same objects. We shall identify statistical tools and methods to collect data and also analyze data to determine the appropriate decision for the identified problem in A CAT CORP forecasting. There are many statistical tools that you can use to perform analysis on the A CAT Corporation. One of the tools to use is Mean; it will help in getting the average sale of voltage regulators per year and be used for comparison purpose. Standard deviation will be used to measure the spread/dispersion of data around the mean. A measure of spread gives us an idea of how well the mean, for example represents the data (Lund Research, 2013). Finally the co efficient of variation will be used for comparison of variation since it s more convenient than the others. Another key statistical tool for the analysis of the data is Excel. The category of data provided in this given case study is under the historical data category. The reason because it contains history tables for reporting or analysis purposes. The relationship between this type of data and the tools is that the table containing sales for the last few years gives the set of numbers required by the statistical tools for comparison purpose. Results are used to identify the sales trend. The co efficient of variation is the most important tool since it is more convenient compared to the standard deviation. It is used for comparison of variation. The lower the co efficient of variation, the smaller the residuals relative to the predicted value
