THE SACRIFICE HOW PRO-PALESTINE PROTESTS STUDENTS ARE SACRIFICING TO CHANGE T...indexPub
The recent surge in pro-Palestine student activism has prompted significant responses from universities, ranging from negotiations and divestment commitments to increased transparency about investments in companies supporting the war on Gaza. This activism has led to the cessation of student encampments but also highlighted the substantial sacrifices made by students, including academic disruptions and personal risks. The primary drivers of these protests are poor university administration, lack of transparency, and inadequate communication between officials and students. This study examines the profound emotional, psychological, and professional impacts on students engaged in pro-Palestine protests, focusing on Generation Z's (Gen-Z) activism dynamics. This paper explores the significant sacrifices made by these students and even the professors supporting the pro-Palestine movement, with a focus on recent global movements. Through an in-depth analysis of printed and electronic media, the study examines the impacts of these sacrifices on the academic and personal lives of those involved. The paper highlights examples from various universities, demonstrating student activism's long-term and short-term effects, including disciplinary actions, social backlash, and career implications. The researchers also explore the broader implications of student sacrifices. The findings reveal that these sacrifices are driven by a profound commitment to justice and human rights, and are influenced by the increasing availability of information, peer interactions, and personal convictions. The study also discusses the broader implications of this activism, comparing it to historical precedents and assessing its potential to influence policy and public opinion. The emotional and psychological toll on student activists is significant, but their sense of purpose and community support mitigates some of these challenges. However, the researchers call for acknowledging the broader Impact of these sacrifices on the future global movement of FreePalestine.

2. Blackberry-Picking Essay
In the poem Blackberry Picking by Seamus Heaney, the narrator depicts his greed for summer s
blackberries and how that greed leads to disappointment. Heaney adds meaning to his poem by
metaphorically comparing blackberries to pleasurable things in our lives and that they should be
savored in the moment rather than stored. The author s choice of blackberries in the summer has
a subtle significance. Because blackberries only ripen in the summer and because they spoil
easily, he is able to convey how precious these blackberries are and why the narrator lusts for
them. The narrator also addresses the audience during the picking of the first blackberry: you ate
that first one and its flesh was sweet. By addressing us, the poem appeals to the senses.... Show

By personifying summer and the blackberries through the words flesh and blood, his metaphor
becomes accessible to a wider audience. Heaney also uses the words hoarded and cache to
further augment the value of the berries. Usually, we hoard items we find valuable in caches,
regardless of their literal worth. Heaney utilizes this philosophy to ask us what are the
blackberries we hoard. As the poem progresses the tone changes. What starts out as eagerness
and lust spirals into a mix of anger, guilt, and disappointment. Heaney initiates this change by
including a simile that alludes a British fairytale. After picking and hoarding the blackberries in
a tub, the narrator realizes his palms are sticky as Bluebeard s. The fairy tale is about a man with
a bluebeard who kills his wives and hides them in a closet to rot. His murderous tendencies remain
a secret until one of his later wives opens the locked room. Heaney is not comparing the narrator to
Bluebeard but his

7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey
When I went through professor s required book list, I recognized the book, 7 Habits of Highly
Effective People, at my first glance. I do remember that I read its Chinese version which was a
present from my grandfather almost ten years ago when I was a teenager. Shortly after feeling
excited, I was a little embarrassed because I barely remember the 7 habits. Now as an adult
almost a decade later, after finished the book, the original work, I was impressed. The
immaturity made me believe that most of the points of Covey were too obvious and trite to
make sense. But now those things Covey talked about are actually tough challenges in my life.
The precondition of the Covey s theory is that a lot of people fix the problems in a scattershot
approach which will eventually lead to chaos or disappointment for the most time. The author s
answer to this is to be an effective person. People needs to learn to solve problems from personal
life, study and work with an approach based on a same core values. The book is about how to
develop the core values basically through the seven habits in order to be a more effective person.
The seven habits also help to achieve greater insights into leadership and management in people s
personal and professional life in the effective way.
The seven habits are: 1. Be proactive 2. Begin with the end in mind 3. Put first things first 4. Think

4. Conservation banking was modeled after the U.S. wetland...
Conservation banking was modeled after the U.S. wetland mitigation banking system and the two
programs share many similarities. However, unlike the wetland mitigation system, conservation
offsets do not have a stated no net loss goal, but instead have a species recovery goal. Both
conservation and wetlands mitigation banks are privately or publicly owned lands which are
protected and managed for its ecological value. By doing this, the banksponsor generates habitat or
wetlandor stream credits to sell to developers or transportation departments who need to offset their
impacts and comply with the legal requirements for the permitting of development or roadway
projects. Both types of banks offer benefits to both the landowner that owns... Show more content

Plus studies have shown that on site mitigation often failed to produce compensatory wetland
resource values (Ruhl et al., 2005). Wetland mitigation seeks to replace functions that are damaged
or lost at the impact site by creating, restoring, or enhancing wetlands nearby, generally in the same
watershed or eco region. When wetland mitigation banks are not available, the alternative is on site
or off site mitigation performed by the permit applicant. These project specific mitigation sites led
to small, isolated wetlands being restored that provided minimal ecological uplift to the watershed.
Wetland mitigation banking can be used to combine the smaller wetland restorations sites into larger
restored habitats that can better replace the lost functions from the impacts. Regulatory agencies
express a preference for wetland credits generated from restoration, creation, or enhancement
instead of preservation. This is in line with the no net loss policy, which seeks to maintain the
wetland acreage or even increase the acreage in the United States.
Conservation banking took the idea of wetland banking and transformed it into threatened and
endangered species conservation with a few alterations. The primary objective of wetland
mitigation is to meet the no net loss goal by replacing the acreage and function of the wetland
areas that will be impacted by a proposed project. The goal of

5. Collective Bargaining And The Bargaining Process
Collective bargaining is the process by which conditions of employment are negotiated between
management, and the labor organization representing employees in the bargaining unit. However,
collective bargaining refers to a situation in which union members and officials meet with an intent
to resolve any issues or conflicts, in an attempt to maintain relationships (Holley, Jennings, Wolters,
2012, p. 243). The collective bargaining process relies on four aspects: recognition of the meeting,
meeting with appropriate parties, bargaining in good faith, and incorporating the reached agreement
(Adam, 1997). Nevertheless, collective bargaining activities are governed by the National Labor
Relations Act(NLRA). The NLRA requires bargaining... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Voluntary or permissive bargaining subjects are those for which an employer or labor
organization may choose to bargain, but are not required to do so. Moreover, a refusal to address
a voluntary or permissive bargaining subject is not a violation of the NLRA. Some examples
include the following: internal union business, inclusion of supervisors in contract, designation of
negotiators, marketing strategies, price of employer s product, use of union labels, and taping or
making transcripts of negotiations (Delaney, Sockell, Brockner, 1988). Yet, illegal subjects of
bargaining are unlawful under the NLRA. Some examples include the following: closed shop
clauses, union shop clauses in right to work states, hot cargo clauses and provisions that violate the
NLRA or federal or state employment laws (Delaney, Sockell, Brockner, 1988). In this case, as a
bargaining unit member, Allen Eagle performed his regular work duties of cleaning the bathroom
on the second floor in the administrative building when he glanced and noticed a surveillance
camera located in the vent directly above him (Holley, Jennings, Wolters, 2012, p. 285). Essentially,
Engle reported his encounter to three other bargaining unit members, and the union steward Luther
Hall, who went to the bathroom on the second floor, and confirmed that the hidden camera was

6. Jewish Resistance During Ww2
JEWISH RESISTANCE: Jewish resistance is a very untold and important part of World War II.
As the war grew and the Nazi s occupied many European countries, resistance grew and
intensified. Those who could escape the ghettos and work camps joined partisan groups. In the
early 1940 s, underground resistance movements developed in about 100 ghettos. There were
about 20,000 30,000 Jewish Partisans and their main goal was to break out of the ghettos, save as
many Jewsas they could, and fight against the Germans. Many Jews operated as partisans,
whether as part of individual Jewish units or as members of non Jewish units (Yad Vashem, n.d.).
Although there was a much greater network of Gestapo and SS Guards, Jewish partisans mainly
operated within Nazi occupied Eastern Europe including the Ukraine, Belorussia, Lithuania,
Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, and Poland as well as France,
Belgium, Greece, and Italy. Eastern Europe, especially Belorussia, the western Ukraine, and
Lithuania had a wide array of forests and swamps which were ideal for guerrilla warfare. Unlike
Eastern Europe, it was impossible to form partisan groups in Western Europe because of the open

of the upcoming liquidation. The Jewish resistance members fought against the Germans when they
began to deport more Jews. Only a few of the ghetto fighters survived the final destruction of the

Smoking While Pregnant Smoking while pregnant is a known teratogen. For those who don t
know, a teratogen is an agent or factor that causes malformation of an embryo. Smoking is very
bad for a baby s health before and after your baby is born. Many people don t understand the
importance of this, nor do they understand that not only does an unborn child get the smoke, but
all the chemicals in a cigarette as well. Cigarettes contain more than 4,000 chemicals, like nicotine,
cyanide, lead, carbon monoxide, and tar. Not to mention at least 60 cancer causing chemicals. 20
30% of low birth weight babies, 14% premature labors, and 10% of infant deaths are caused from
smokingduring pregnancyaccording to American Lung Association. Smoking increases the risk
of pregnancy complications at any and every stage of a pregnancy. Second hand and third hand
smoke is just as bad if not worse for an unborn child and yourself as first hand smoke is. Almost
everyone is exposed to cigarette smoke, whether it be first hand smoking a cigarette, or getting
second hand smoke from others smoking around you. Also third hand smoke, most people don t
think much of it, but third hand smoke is made up of gases and toxins that build up each time a
cigarette is smoked. Third hand smoke sticks to furniture, carpet, walls, clothes, skin, and many
other things. None of these kinds of smokes are good for a person let alone an unborn child. That
being said it makes it really hard to stay away from smoke

10. Drag Queen Analysis
Drag queens have spent years performing for themselves and for many other people. Their shows
today are a way to express themselves and make people question what they know about gender and
sexuality. Rupp and Taylor in their book, Drag Queens at the 801 Cabaret discuss this subject in
detail, calling their performances a form of protest. They question the roles that society has put
them into, and in turn provoke their audiences to question these things, such as genderand sexuality.
This type of social protest is called subversion. Through this book, we can more specifically look
at two types of subversion that played a major role in the 801 drag queen s performances. The first,
and most obvious, is the idea of masculinityversus femininity, and how the Queens use different
techniques to break free from the traditional way of thinking about these concepts. The second is
the overt way that the Queens portray sex and sexuality, in ways that are impossible for the
audience to ignore. Both these types of subversion have an overarching theme of crossing
boundaries, whether over the division of the gender binary, or the limits of what is socially
acceptable to talk about regarding sex. Drag queens envelop the audience and take many of them
out of their comfort zone.
What it means to be feminine and masculine in our society has been drilled into each and every
one of us since birth. Men are taught to act a certain way, so as to be the breadwinners and
protectors of women. Women

There are multiple protagonists in the story, and they all go through different adventures. A
character named Chickadee, who Mason encounters, develops from being very dependant into a
more independent and optimistic character. She has diabetes, so she cannot live without insulin.
Since the earthquake was so destructive, there are no doctors left to treat her. Chickadee
becomes pessimistic when she realizes she will inevitably die if she does not get treated.
However, before Chickadee dies, she explains, There are different types of people in this world.
There are people who accept what s in front of them unquestioningly... Then there are people like
me. Optimists. They too live in the dark, in times like these, but dream of the light (219).
Chickadee admits she is an optimist, and advises Mason to be optimistic as well. He also starts
looking at the positive side of situations. Even when Chickadee dies, instead of mourning her
death, Mason decides to fulfil her final wish: to go to Vancouver and feel the ocean for her.
Furthermore, another main character, Michael, begins as ignorant and passive, but becomes more
optimistic. When Evans tells Michael that he needs to find his daughter and wife, Michael
volunteers to help. He reassures Evans, We ll get through this. We ll find your wife and child
(85). This proves that Michael becomes a positive and diligent character, who is determined to
help Evans find his family members during these egregious times. In addition, Aries also
undergoes dramatic changes throughout the novel. For instance, she is a very scared and
pessimistic character when she finds out that her friend, Sarah, has died. As the story progresses,
Aries develops into an exceptional leader who others admire and treat respectfully. Aries thinks to
herself, No matter how much of a leader she didn t think she was, she d get them

plateaus etc. One of the greatest controversies when it comes to creationists is the idea of
dinosaurs and humans. Today the average person could tell you that dinosaurs were around
before humans, but not creationists. They believe that along with other animals, dinosaurs were
brought on Noah s Ark and died out due to rapid climate change. Since dinosaurs were not
mentioned in the bible, they were referred to as dragons, behemoths, and leviathans brings upon
the idea in their mind that they lived along side the ancient people mentioned in the bible. In this
they denounce the geology of dating rocks and fossils by criticizing the formula used to date
them back millions of years. In chemistry they have said that the carbon dating of radioactive
isotopes is incorrect because of the lack of 100% accuracy while being relatively close, they
have created there own formula which no matter how they date it, it will always come to a
conclusion of less than 10,000 years ago. Away from the science controversy in their belief, on a
theological level they believe most of the same views as Catholics. There are three persons in one

16. The Heat Capacity Of A Calorimeter
Introduction
According to the New World Encyclopedia, a calorimeter is an instrument used to measure the
amount of heat absorbed or released by matter through a physical or chemical reaction. The world s
first ice calorimeter was used by Antoine Lavoisier and Pierre Simon Laplace to determine the heat
produced during various chemical reactions. Their experiments set the foundation for
Thermochemistry. Improvements in technology create room for other types of calorimeters such as
the brand calorimeter, isothermal titration calorimeter and X ray micro calorimeter.
Following in the steps of Lavoisier and Pierre Simon, an experiment will be conducted on the
heat capacity of a Styrofoam calorimeter in comparison to a brand calorimeter. Water shall be
used first because of its known specific heat and the experiment will be repeated with HCL
(Hydrochloric Acid) and NaOH (Sodium Hydroxide) in hopes to calculating the specific heat of the
reaction.
In this experiment, two Styrofoam cups and a brand calorimeter are each used to calculate heat
transfer. The results will be compared to see if the something as simple as a Styrofoam cup can be
used accurately as a calorimeter and produce efficient results. Using hot and cold water, the
Styrofoam cup and brand calorimeter will be used to determine the heat capacity. By using the mass
of the water, specific heat of water and the change in temperature, the heat capacity will be
determined. The brand calorimeter and Styrofoam calorimeter

17. Essay about Magic Empowers Women in La Casa de Los Espiritus
Magic empowers women in La casa de los espГritus Discuss. In Isabel Allende s first novel, La
casa de los espГritus the reader is introduced to her use of magic as a means which enables
women to feel sustained in times of difficulty and which provides them with a power base
(Bennett, C. 2003:174). Interestingly, the women s connection with the spiritual and magical
stands in contrast to the men s rejection of anything that doesn t adhere to their strict perception of
morbid reality. Therefore, Allende quite clearly outlines magical properties as essentially feminine
(Shaw, D. 1997:116) and spirituality in all its forms as a province of the female of the species
(Hart, S. 2005:275) only. It can be argued that women and magic... Show more content on

rather because that was the only way for her to create her own space composed of hidden signs and
signals (AgosГn, M. 1984:36). It therefore represents a place for her to be alone with the spirits
and creates a safe haven away from the destructiveness and aggressiveness of her husband. Even
though AgosГn s statement rejects Clara s passivity, it is possible to disagree on the basis that
she did not have sufficient information, and possessed neither the power nor the tools necessary

Talk about Pop Music, Talk about Pop MusicВ… was one of the most catchy phrases of the 1980
s. Just as in the 80 s, today we see many characteristics of pop culture effecting our lives. But, what
is pop culture?
br
br I spent some time online trying to answer my question and time after time I was led to the same
direction: pop culture is what we see, hear, speak, and are otherwise exposed to on a daily basis.
The infomercials we see late on television, the billboards we see on the side of the road, the junk
mail we receive, the links on the web pages we visit, and the radio commercials we hear all tie
together to form this idea of pop culture. These, plus many other aspects, form our minds and teach

21. The Violence Of Black Americans Essay
Who are we? What defines us? In America, we are defined by our class, what we do and most
importantly how we look. Since the birth of our nation, a notion of race has been rooted to our
core personas. In fact it can enforce stereotypes of class and careers. It is evident that Black
Americans are un proportionally living in poverty and without easy access to achievement. This
harsh reality is not helped by our media driven society. In a world so heavily integrated with
mass media hysteria, we scroll past posts that can have the countering effects of degradation or
empowerment through our identities. While movements of Black Power can be painted through
media, it also not hard to see the difference between the ways in which Black Americans are
manipulated within the lens of media. They are portrayed as fitting a certain stereotype
uneducated, violent and intriguingly exotic. For example, while women in general face the
enemy of sex sells , black women have this experience intensified. These women are portrayed as
exotic sexual beings. They are objectified and degraded with the intent of women of color being
seen as sexually gratifying, but nothing more. The parallels to the mindset one hundred years ago
is uncanny black women, black men and black children are seen as objects to appropriate and use
for the media s benefit. We can see this through our some of our greatest stars. Miley Cyrus, the

A Day in the Forest
It was a calm, overcast day, and I found myself resting at the side of a large oak tree, admiring the
beauty of the woods that surrounded me.
The sunless sky covered the woods over the treetops which created a canopy over my head. The
crimson and auburn foliage was a magnificent sight, as this was the season known as Fall. There
was a gentle breeze, creating the single sound of rustling leaves. The leaves appeared as though
they were dying to fall out of the tree and join their companions on the forest floor. Together with
pine needles and other flora the leaves formed a thick springy carpet for me to walk upon.

itself.
Resting underneath the shade of the trees, I found myself appreciating the scent of pine needles;
the ambiance of Christmas. Encompassed by the thick heavy air, I watched as a single sparrow
fluttered high above the emerald forest. A few feet next to me an eager chipmunk hastily
scampered from tree to tree, awaiting the chill of winter. The forest, I realized, was home to many
wild creatures. In giving protection and food, the forest was gladly rewarded with the company of
these animals. Beyond the horizon, I could see the community of newly formed saplings. They
appeared as little children, learning under the guidance of their grown and fully matured parents.
The forest was pure and clean, as though it had never been disturbed by man and his vicious life

not a care in the world.
As I left behind the somber forest, I now recognized an appreciation for nature that I did not realize

Baz Luhrmann Essay By Warwick Taylor Baz Luhrmann s directional style is not about naturalism.
Rather, Luhrmann uses his cinematic language, storytelling techniques and his belief in a
theatrical cinema to assure viewers that they are indeed watching a movie. In this essay I will
tackle some aspects of his movies in his red curtain trilogy, namely Strictly ballroom , Romeo and
Juliet and The Great Gatsby that indeed prove my topic statement. The setting of the movies is a
clear indicator to the audience that the movie that they are watching is indeed just that, a movie.
The setting of Strictly Ballroom is in Australia, but when the view thinks about Australia, the
setting that comes to mind is the Sydney Opera House, white beaches and long walkways. But in
Strictly Ballroom we are greeted, with small halls, dark alleyways and people struggling for money

Everyone has a greatest fear whether it be from fear of dolls to fear of death. Fear is
characterized by a feeling of terror or dread caused by an object that you believe to be harmful.
All fears are caused by an event that has happened to someone that traumatizes them for life. A fear
is sometimes unovercomable and this may be because to overcome it one must be a certain
characteristic. For example, to overcome the fearof ugliness one must lose weight and sometimes
acquire surgery. My greatest fear is the idea of drowningand this is a fear of many. I do not have a
certain characteristic to acquire before overcoming my fear of drowning except for knowledge of
pooletiquette and rules. To understand one s fear the information about the traumatizing event must
be presented. Also when they found out the fear existed and how one overcame, if did, the fear.
Fear of drowning is my greatest fear because when I was eight I drowned in a clear, blue,
treacherous pool by the hotel with the dark burgundy colored brick and cream colored doors. I
remember my cousins laugh whenever someone went the wrong way as they were playing
marco polo. I was sitting on the scorching cement by the pool when I decided I wanted to cool

4.1In cylinder pressure
The evolution of in cylinder pressure during 4 engine speed is shown in Figure1a, b, c, d. From

The timing of peak combustion pressure is slightly retarded consequences, of BA adding. The
pressure rise rate in the figure 1a and b shows that BA containing fuels have a higher pressure
rise rate at speed1400 and 1800 to 10% BA. A relative higher pressure rise will assist to improve

4.3Brake Specific Fuel Consumption (BSFC) and Brake thermal efficiency
The effect of n butanol/diesel fuel blends on the brake specific fuel consumption (BSFC) and
brake thermal efficiency (BTE) with the variety of engine speed are illustrated in Figs. 2 and 3,
respectively. It was observed that all BA diesel fuel blends slightly increased the BSFC and the
BTE at all BA blend ratios. The result indicated that BSFC increases as engine speed resulting in
almost all engine speed due to the lower heating value of BA (31.4MJ/kg) compared with the
heating value of diesel (41.3MJ/kg). Generally, the engine consumes more fuel with n butanol
/diesel fuel blends comparing with reference diesel fuel to generate the same engine output torque
because of the lower heat content of the fuel blends. As would expected, the BSFC increases with
the increasing BA content in the fuel blends because of the decreased energy content. This
increment in BSFC is similar trends that were reported in Refs. [20, 23, 24].
In spite of the fact that higher BSFC of n butanol/diesel fuel the enhancement, oxygen content of the
fuel blends gives higher BTE. The improvement in BTE can be referred to the enhanced oxygen
content, which helps improvement in combustion, particularly during the diffusion combustion
phase. Another influence factor that affects the BTE is cetane number. Lower cetane number of the

27. Similarities Between Western And Eastern Cultures
The term behavior refers one s acts dominated by ideology in response to certain situations.
Behavior derives from the long development of culture in which people are defined what is
supposed to act based on the identity given. In other words, one s behavior sometimes is the
demonstration of one s identity. Living in a multi culture world, people from various cultures may
behave totally different toward a situation or stimulus. Western and eastern cultures typically
reflects the point of behavioral differentiations among distinct cultures. The United States, as a
superpower established in last hundreds of years, possesses distinguishing features of western
culture such as open and liberty. Meanwhile, China is an eastern country with an ancient
civilization stands for conservative culture. Therefore, as represents of these two cultures, the
United States and China are appropriate examples to explore the behavioral differentiations, and
the differences in behavior can be well demonstrated through daily behaviors like classroom,
driving and dining. Firstly, comparing the classroom behaviors, the classroom behaviors between
America and China are two extremes that Americans are more active in class while Chinese tend
to behave passively in class. Based on my college experience in the United States, most professors

Until the late 19th century many biographers and art scholars deliberately ignored Caravaggio
work. Some people felt as if his work was to natural or just ordinary. (Sayre, 2010) His work of
art was characterized by displaying weakness or humankind. Sometime people had a difficult time
trying to figure out if his painting was religious or not. In fact the contrast in his paintings between
light and dark tones was evident in the spiritual content and its representation in the painting.
(Sayre, 2010) Caravaggio became ill on a beach in Port Ercole. Caravaggio passed away July 18,
1610 after battling with malaria which he fought to overcome.
Rembrandt van Rijn: The Resurrection of Christ c. 1635 39 (Oil on Canvas)

The Resurrection of Christ is from the Baroque period. This work of art portrays the sense of
dramatic antagonism that Caravaggio achieved by manipulating light across full range of tones,
changing the intensity and transforming its radiance this was done so that every beam and shadow

i. Dependent variable
The dependent variable chosen is Interest in Politics , a numeric ordinal variable. We had to

variable s scale. It now ranges from 1 ( not at all interested) to 4 ( very interested ). With respect to

37. Common Vulnerabilities Facing IT Managers Essay
Vulnerabilities are like a thorn in the side of every single organization doing business today. In
the IT world vulnerabilities are bugs or flaws, a weakness, or an exposure of an application,
system, device, or service which could lead to a failure of confidentiality, integrity, or availability
(Liu Zhang, 2011). They are to companies today what the black plague was to Europe in the 1300
s. It doesn t even matter if the organization is connected to the internetor not it s still vulnerable to
some type of attack. Regardless of what a company actually produces and what its mission

38. Cynthia Enloe s Bananas, Beaches, And Bases
Cynthia Enloe, in her book Bananas, Beaches, and Bases, once said: Living as a nationalist feminist
is one of the most difficult political projects in today s world (46). It is just this challenge that
confronts many Palestinian women involved, either explicitly or implicitly, in the Palestinian
national project. For in this project, they are doubly marginalised, both from the national movement
with which they attempt to engage, and in the patriarchal structures that are reinforced by the
militarisation of the national movement and its commemoration. However, women within the
Palestinian liberation movement are not merely subjects of patriarchal and nationalistic authority;
instead, they are agents within it and against it, sometimes in contradictory and simultaneous
instances. Situating itself within an analysis of contemporary women s experiences within

The Palestinians had a robust social, political, and class identity within Palestine; however, after the
nakbah this life was systematically dismantled and reconstituted along national, radical, and
traditionalist lines, the result of which is the new Palestinian ness to which the national movement
is oriented. Of course the Palestinian people existed before the nakbah, however, their consciousness
was typical of agrarian peasants, based not in a national identity, but upon kinship ties, regional
networks, and limited class solidarity (Sayigh, R., 13). This identity was perpetuated through many
traditions and familial conditioning, which also formed the basis of extended kinship solidarity
networks (ibid.

Ancient Greek Olympic Games Well, there won t be any oxen dying in this year s games. Many
years ago, in 776 B.C., the first Olympic Games took place in Olympia, Greece. The Greeks made
the games in honor of their head God, the god of the sky, The Almighty Zeus. These games
continued for nearly 12 centuries until the emperor of Rome, Theodosius, stated that the games
were banned in 393 A.D. While the Olympics have changed over many years, most rituals have
stayed the same.
The Olympic Games had many rituals they followed every game. When you win a game, you will
receive an olive branch instead of a gold medal like in today s games. The olive branch was said to
be took off a tree that was planted by Hercules, the son of Zeus. The games were held every four
years, the same as today. On the first day, the Greeks would kill 100 oxen as a sacrifice to their
God Zeus. These oxen would later be eaten, on the final day, by all of the participants in the games.

41. Descriptive Essay On A Day In The Morning
The light of the new morning sun shines through the gaps of my ivory lace curtains. I can see
the almost too tiny to see specks of dust floating gracefully in the streams of light, it s almost like
the dust never moves, never settles. A quartet of petite sparrow s perch outside my window
singing a welcoming song. As I sat up in bed a waft of freshly ground coffee entices my senses. I
open the curtains, look out at the frost bitten grass, the glassy lake across the way and the white
gradient fog that has engulfed the tops of the pine trees. Slipping my feet into a pair of wool
lined slippers, I grab my robe and welcome my husband, Caleb, for breakfast. We scarf down our
eggs and homemade spiced apple oatmeal so we can get a head start on our day. The warmth of
the heater keeps me distracted, the warmth first thing in the morning is like settling into a tub of
hot water after a day in the cold; it is hard to resist. Eventually I throw on my clothes and
accessorize myself with what seems like a never ending list of winter must haves; a long olive
green winter coat, a tan plaid scarf, a pair of wool socks that line my brown leather boots, a pair
of gloves, and to top it off, a olive knitted beanie. My husband and I haul our luggage out to car
that is crusted with ice. While he loads our luggage, I begin to scrape the thick sheet of ice off
our windshield. I m too much of a pansy and have to stop every 20 seconds to frantically shake my
hands in order to regenerate some heat

Executive Summary Louis Vuitton Moet Hennessy, a luxury goods provider is looking to expand
their brand dominance in Asia. In order to expand successfully LVMHmust evaluate challenges
that may arise and get in the way of their successful expansion. In the Asian market, LVMH must
deal with political and cultural uncertainties, the threat of counterfeit products, and the increased
cost of products in Asia compared to France.

In Japan, the costs of LVMH handbags cost approximately 40% more than in France. This started
a growing market to distribute bags from France to Japan for resale at a cheaper price. Arnault
believes that the producers of LVMH s goods need to be unrestrained by financial matters in
order to produce extremely high quality products. To keep the brand management of highly
priced and high quality goods, LVMH needs to expand to the younger new money of the Asian
market. The high quality is also a result of the mentality that Made in France is perceived as high
western quality. LVMH does not want to lower the labor costs because there would be a similar
direction of the quality. Finally, LVMH must protect its brand against counterfeit and dilution.
With the recent expansion of the internet and globalization, availability of products has grown to
new heights. In order to keep the brand management that LVMH desires, it must tightly control the
availability so not to dilute the market and lower the perception of their brand. Also with the
increased knowledge and resources of counterfeiting, LVMH needs to keep a grasp on illegal
goods. Not only are the goods becoming increasingly difficult to distinguish real from fake, but the
channels of distribution of counterfeit products have increased. Europe customs believe that 75%
of counterfeit luxury goods originated in China or Hong Kong. Online stores such as EBay also

46. Best Cost Focused Strategy By Thompson Et. Thompson Jr.
The competitors can try to make a distinctive product or release the improved version of the firm
s product. Extensive differentiation can have a reverse effect of losing the current customers.
Differentiation is expected to be a continuous process. The current differentiation can become
obsolete in the short run and the customer becomes more knowledgeable about the product and
their needs and perception changes. 5.3.3 Focused Strategy The third strategy in Porter s model
is Focused strategy which is applicable for the firms that are operating in a narrow competitive
scope or Niche Market. The strategy is applied based on the market segmentation. It can be
segmented based on location, specific income group (usually high income group) or difference in
the usage of the product. The driving force of the focus strategy is specialization in dealing with a

The major objective of Best cost provider strategy is to give the customers value for their money.
This is an attempt to give the customers the products that exceeds their expectations at a price
equal or lesser than the competitors. When a company can build on its core competencies and give
enhanced product at a lesser price, it enjoys maximum profitability. It is hybrid model between low
cost provider and differentiation strategy. This strategy adopts the best of both the strategies .i.e.
economies in cost and at the same time differentiation in the features. This strategy works best in
the market where the characteristics of price sensitivity and diversity in buyer s preference exists.
The biggest limitation of best cost provider strategy is failing in executing the strategy and falling
prey for the limitations of both cost leadership and differentiation

it. One of these people is Lakshmi s stepfather, he sells Lakshmi, his daughter, to get more money
for gambling and alcohol. All he wants from lakshmi is money to live better even if it causes
suffering to his wife who is distraught because of Lakshmi leaving. Ama wipes her cheek with
the hem of her shawl. Your step father has said you must go to the city and earn your keep as a
maid. ( McCormick 48) This just shows the pain that her mother felt because of Lakshmi
leaving. Lakshmi is drugged by Mumtaz and forced to be with men so that she can make more
money. All of this money is then given to Mumtaz. Mumtaz forces these girls into being with
men just so they are not kicked out and forced to live on the streets. In the article Daughters For

sell their daughters, and human traffickers wait at train stations for runaways and scour for
orphans in monsoon ravaged villages. This quote is similar to what happened to Lakshmi at the

48. Innovative Technologies during the Civil War
Throughout the first half of the nineteenth century, there were many new inventions, and innovative
technologies that played a major role in the civil war. At the time of the Civil War, many of the
newfound war weapons in the Union proved essential for its victory. The new weapons showed a
great change in the technological world. During the time of the Civil war, Pistols, and other basic
handheld, guns were very popular, for a soldier to have. It was known for its capability of hitting
a target from a short distance. Before people started changing the way weapons were, a small
handheld pistol gun, that held one bullet, was considered, the best before, innovations, were
performed. infantry soldiers would use muskets with one bullet at a time, shooting as far as 250
yards. However, if exact persistent location for the bullet to hit is needed, 80 yards would be the
furthest distance to shoot from. If a soldier had a pistol as his main weapon, commanders, and
generals, taught them different wartactics on getting closer, to your target to be within the 80 yards,
with a pistol.
The Colt handgun is a PIstol, ranged from .36 .44 caliber, a steel handheld gun, with nearly the
same distances as a regular musket. The .44 caliber colt handgun could reach about 25 50 yards
further in all aspects, of shooting. The Colt was well known by everyone during the Civil war,
and before. Each side had a version of a colt, there were 9 different versions, but all get the same

49. Context, Violence and Leadership in Cormac McCarthy s...
Cormac McCarthy s Blood Meridian does a marvelous job of highlighting the violent nature of
mankind. The underlying cause of this violent nature can be analyzed from three perspectives, the
first being where the occurrence of violence takes place, the second man s need to be led and the
way their leader leads them, and lastly whether violence is truly an innate and inherent
characteristic in man. Cormac McCarthyonce said, I think the notion that the species can be

The question to ask is what caused the West to be such a formidable location? The first theory to
explore is that which states the land Blood Meridian took place in, Southwest America and
Mexico, caused an absence of responsibility, which then caused the violent acts. In Blood
Meridian massacres occur almost daily, yet civilization is neither built up nor hurt because there
is no civilization to break down. (Kiefer) At the beginning of the book, The Kid has been brought
to Captain White to be interviewed for a spot in the company. Captain White exclaims to the Kid,
There is no government in Mexico. Hell, there s no God in Mexico. Never will be. (Blood

no doubt that some part of this statement holds true. On many occasions the gang of scalp hunters

gang of Americans make Chihuahua city theirs, feasting, drinking and whoring. It becomes so bad

51. Summary Of Coach Lombatte Speech
I will be analyzing a speech given by coach Vincent T. Lombardi. Coach Lombardi is widely

sports history. The speech by coach Lombardi that I will be analyzing is called What it Takes to

and the speaker. Then, I will describe the occasion of the speech in order to describe its
significance. Finally, I will analyze the rhetorical technique used by coach Lombardi to deliver a

The main way that Lombardi created such an influential speech was through his style and
invention of arguments. Coach Lombardi used a style in his speech that made everything very
clear to the audience. His speech was very casual and used language that, although powerful and
moving, was easily understood by anyone who listened to the speech. This allowed his speech
to connect with a much wider audience than football players, fans, or reporters. Still, today, this
speech is easily understood but conveys the powerful message that anything is possible through
hard work. It is so well known, that it is used on motivational posters today. Furthermore, apart
from the simplistic, powerful style, Lombardi uses a type of invention for his arguments that
makes his perspective very clear to see. For example, he argues that a football player must play
in his entirety in order to be successful. He begins this argument by saying, he s got to play from
the ground up from the soles of his feet right up to his head. He then emphasizes this point another
time by saying that every inch of him has to play. He then introduces the counter perspective that
Some guys play with their heads. He says that this is good because you need to be smart to be the
best. However, he says that the most important thing is that you play with your heart, with every
fiber of your body. This
