The Non-Teleological View Of Life In East Of Eden By
John...
There is no meaning to life. Life has no inherent meaning. The meanings of our
lives are chosen by what we feel and experience or are assigned to us by others. The
ends of our existence cannot be foreseen and will not be limited by such things as
destiny. These are the ideas and philosophies of those who believe life to be non
teleological. A famous literary example of a non teleologist is a man named John
Steinbeck. Throughout his life Steinbeck experimented with Darwinism,
transcendentalism, realism, socialism, naturalism, and Taoism (Endnotes 1). Each of
these ways of thinking show up in Steinbeck s philosophy and therefore his work
cannot be classified specifically. All that may be said is that he had a non teleological
way of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There is an important idea to keep in mind when considering teleology. The question
in not whether there are efficient or final causes, whether for instance, man sees
because he has eyes or has eyes in order to see (Teleological Explanations 1).
One of the clearest examples of Steinbeck s non teleological view of life occurs in
the novel East of Eden in which a character discusses choice in life and glory of the
human soul as a result of that choice. Lee is revealing his discovery of the correct
translation of the story of Cain and Able in The Bible.
The American Standard translation orders men to triumph over sin, and you call sin
ignorance. The King James translation makes a promise in В‘Thou shalt, meaning
that men will surely triumph over sin. But the Hebrew word, the word
timshelВ—В‘Thou mayest В—that gives choice. It might be the most important
word in the world. That says the way is open. That throws it right back on a man.
For if В‘Thou mayest it is also true that В‘Though mayest not. Don t you see?
(303) The character, Lee, being a Chinese refugee, takes this new idea to heart not
as a religious philosophy but as a way of viewing life. He stated: This is not
theology. I have no bent towards the gods. But I have a new love for that flittering
instrument, the human soul. It is a lovely and unique thing in the universe. It is
Reflective Essay For My Family
Since I can remember, I have prayed and hoped that for this one thing, and now my
wish has finally come true. My immediate family has four people in it and I am the
youngest. In my extended family, among all my cousins on both sides, I am also
the youngest. For a long time, this has made me kind of sad and frustrated. I love
babies and children. Although we have pets I can take care of, it is not the same
thing as having a younger brother or sister. Until recently, I never thought I
wouldd have something close to this opportunity. I have always wished that I
could be a big sister so that I could help care for and have an impact on a younger
person s life. Last October, an ordinary day became very special. On that day I
found out that my Youth Pastor, Rev. Becca Bateman, was pregnant! Becca has
been an important part of my life and someone I admire. To me, Becca is an
example of a good person and someone I aspire to be like when I grow up. Rev.
Bateman is very caring, welcoming, loving and makes me feel safe. When I found
out that she was pregnant, I imagined that there would now be a mini Becca and
twice the fun! After the big announcement, the next few months seemed to take
forever. Every day I would ask my mom Is it a boy or a girl? My mom would always
respond, They still do not know. I will tell you when I find out. So I waited until
the day came and my mom finally said, Becca is having a girl! As I heard those
words come spilling out of her mouth, I swore my
Daycare Disadvantages
As I grew up I remember my mother told me stories about how she worked in a
Daycare facility while my brother would attend for free. She always tell me
education always comes first. I never really understood why she said that until I was
old enough to put the pieces together. Both of my parents were High Schooldropouts
and went straight to the workforce to provide for a family. She told me daycare was
one of the best choices she had made for the educationof her children, she always said
that it helped her get my brother academically ready. It gave him a chance to interact
with other children, he came out of his shy shell. Also structural wise he did not have
an issue with familiarizing himself with the school s daily schedule. According...

(eXtension) It is proven that children learn from hands on learning rather than sitting
down and forced to listen to the teacher. Realizing that children have short attention
spans made me automatically aware that by having children sit and listen to you for
more than 10 minutes will turn into absolute chaos. They will get up and run
around, and not pay attention to you at all. As for a daycare facility they have toys
for children to play with not just any toys but toys that teach children how to
differentiate colors, count your numbers, tell you what the animal is and what noises
it makes. Therefore, daycare facilities have a huge impact on children in their basic
learning and developing skills.
Everyday you have a certain schedule, for example you wake up, brush your teeth,
shower and get ready for work or school and etc. As for children they need to
develop some type of schedule; without that they will have a hard time in
behavioral, and stability skills. A basic daycare structural schedule contains circle
time, snack time, diaper change, outside activities, indoor activities, and free play.
One of the articles I stumbled across was called The Importance of routines in
Children . The article makes a point that caught my eye stating, Kids do not have a
lot of control in their lives, but routines can give them a sense of organization,
stability, and comfort. As this sense of mastery is strengthened they can tackle larger
changes; walking to
Franz Schubert
Life of Franz Schubert.
Franz Peter Schubert (Schubert) is one of the great Austrian composers in the
Romantic era. He is famous for songwriting, which he has written over 600 songs
(Burkholder 598). He was born in 1797 in Himmelpfortgrund, the suburbs of Vienna,
Austria with the great talent in music (Brown).
His father, Franz Theodor Schubert, was a schoolmaster and an amateur musician.
Schubert s father was teaching music to his own children by himself. Shubert started
showing his great music talent and won a scholarship to study music in a boarding
school in Vienna. At the school, he had private lessons from Antonio Salieri, a
composer who is famous for his operas and kept taking lessons from him even after
Schubert left the school due ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The work consists of four movements, Allegro, Andante con moto, Scherzo, and
Presto. The subtitle, Death and the Maiden was named after his previous song work,
which contains the same themes as the string quartet. One of the unusual features of
this string quartet is that the all movements are written in minor keys while typical
string quartets contain movements in both major and minor keys. (It modulates into
major keys but tonal centres stay in minor keys.) That must reflect his feeling
regarding his hopeless future because of the illness he contracted in the same year. I
chose the second movement of the string quartet to arrange since I found that
unusual feature of the key as stated above, while the second movement of typical
string quartets tend to be written in major key if the first movement is written in a
minor key. Besides, the 2nd movement is written in the form the variation by using
the accompaniment of his previous song work Death and the Maiden (Rothwell).
Finally, I arrange the movement for piano solo because it would be to reach a rather
than a string quartet and I would like to show pieces that are written for other
instruments to people who don t have much opportunity to listen to classical chamber
music at a
Personal Narrative-Skin Infection
It was the summer before sixth grade, I was ten years old. It was late at night, around
11 o clock, when we were leaving our friends rented camp. The sky was black, no
stars, no moon. We didn t have to go very far, just down the lake where our camp was.
The water was warm on my feet as I walked through the water to get in the boat. It
was a pretty old boat, my grandfather s, but it worked just fine to get us around the
lake. I was wearing a sweatshirt under my life jacket because I remember that it s
usually cold on the ride back, the wind blowing against your skin and through your
hair.
We loaded our one year old dog, Jake, in the boat before my father pushed us out into
deeper water. Our friends said their goodbyes and Jon said to be careful, ... Show

It s something that he loves to do and we love to watch him do it. If Jake isn t
getting rocks he is just laying in the water not doing anything but soaking up some
sun rays. But if Jake is laying there and he sees a minnow swim by, he s up and ready
to find out where it s going. That s another thing that Jake is very passionate about,
chasing minnows (or small sunfish) along the shallow water. It s a riot. He will
see a minnow and be super fascinated by it, sometimes he will even try to pounce
on them like a cat. He isn t alway successful with catching the little fish but enjoys
the chase. Talking about Jake diving for rocks and chasing the minnows along the
beach makes him sound pretty energetic and full of life but it s quite the opposite.
Jake would like nothing more in life than to just lay out in the sun all day catching
some Z s and be surrounded by people willing to give him all their attention. Jake
used to even lay down on the grass in the middle of a walk if he was getting
winded (but that was when he was a little more on the chunky side). Jake is like a
bear; he gains weight in the winter and burns it in the

The Reptiles Respiratory Function and Procedure for Surgery
Reptiles are a unique animal for various reasons, but I find one of these unique
qualities to be especially fascinating. That is the respiratory system and how the
reptile s spontaneous ventilation rate is directly related to temperature and partial
pressure of oxygen, whereas the mammal s respiration is strictly related and driven
by carbon dioxide. In veterinary medicine this is something that comes up when it
comes time to use anesthesia on a reptile for a surgical or other procedure in which
they will need to be anesthetized. Inhalants are somewhat of a contradiction as the
lizard can hold its breath for long periods of time during the induction ... Show more

I find it so interesting that the lizard almost has a combination of the mammalian
and the avian respiratory system. The lack of a diaphragm as well as the fact that
there are two species of lizards that use the exact same respiratory physiology as
the avian species show me the relation to them. Then the fact that most of the other
lizards use two bronchi and basic alveoli structures for gas exchange, really made
me realize the combination of the two. I hope to one day do some work with the
lizard under anesthesia and help with the ventilation, as I find this to be interesting
and really feel I have gotten a grasp on their
Hardy Sleeping Research Paper
Difficulty Sleeping Ever wonder why some people can t sleep at night? Sleep is
something that every person needs. It is important in all, physically, mentally and
emotionally ways. Sleep can change a person s day or in other words it can
change a person s mood. Sleep is a great medicine for our bodies which helps us
throughout the day, because we conserve energy. A person who work and goes to
school needs a lot of sleep in order to make it throughout the day. Taking naps after
my classes, using technology before bed and stress has made it difficult for me to
sleep during my first semester of college. One of the reasons why I have difficulty
sleeping at night was because of taking naps after my classes. Taking naps after I
am done with class for the day became a routine for me. Especially in the evening,
whenever I took naps in the evening, around 4 or 5 o clock, I always woke up at 8
or 7, and then it makes it harder for me to sleep at night. Taking naps was also
wasting my time to study and do homework s. I would then sleep for hours and
woke up at night tired and grouchy. Due to taking naps in the evening has led me to
lie in bed all night doing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As a freshman, of course I would be stressed because, it was my first year. Having
too much homework in one day was already stressful to me. Having a lot of
homework s a night was stressful to me. Sometimes I would stressed out if my
professor said were having a test and a presentation even though its three weeks
away or a month. I get stressed easily because I am new to college life. In
conclusion, having difficulty sleeping was the worst obstacle a college student
could face. I have difficulty sleeping because of taking naps after classes, using
technology before bed and stress. These are my top three things that have been
causing me not to sleep. So in order to avoid difficulty sleeping in college, try not to
do these three things I
The Theory Of Social Disorganization Theory Essay
Introduction The argument in which this paper is intended to argue is that those
individuals who live in poverty have a greater chance at committing crimes than
those who do not. There are many possible factors and reasons as to why people who
live in poverty can commit more crimes that those who do not and this essay will
attempt to explain that. The independent variable for this argument would be the
poverty that individuals have to endure and live through, while the dependent
variables are crimerates in that neighborhood.
Although various theories can be used in order to explain the link between poverty
and crime, the one that best fits would be social disorganization theory. Social
disorganization theory is a theory, which emphasizes environmental impacts of
living in neighborhoods that are high in crime and also stresses that this is the
reason that criminal activity increases (Tibbetts Hemmens, 2015). The Chicago
school theory is otherwise known as the theory of social disorganization as well.
Chicago was the fastest growing city in America back in the 19th century (Tibbetts
Hemmens, 2015). This theory aimed at explaining why such rapid growth of a city
caused so much crime in areas that were growing (Tibbetts Hemmens, 2015). This is
important to the reader as it shows that there is a major social aspect to the problem
of crime in which the environment of an individual, if living in poverty, may
influence the way in which they socialize, live and ultimately
A Reflection On Teaching And Learning
There are many activities that occur in education. Teaching and learning are
showcased as being the two most important by Hoy and Hoy. These activities
require an impressive skill set to execute successfully in the classroom arena. The
purpose of everything that transpires in the name of education is for the sole
purpose of student learning. I agree with their assertion that student differences
impact the amount and rate at which students learn. Students have great differences
in race, gender, learning styles, intelligence, and emotions. Hoy and Hoy s view of
improvement as being progressive and constant, was hard for me to wrap my head
around in earlier years. Constructive criticism appeared to be a means to keep me
suppressed and in check. Luckily, I learned the ignorance contained within my
thinking. Things like professional development, observations, and PLC s were
meant to improve my skills as a teacher. Constant collaborative and reflective
analysis helps correct imperfections and oversights as we strive for higher student
achievement as the school year rolls on. As Hoy and Hoy mention, these are
obtainable through principals that communicate the clear vision of the school to all
involved stakeholders. The correlation between positive influences and success is
discussed as well. I know first hand that having a vested interest in my school and
students improve everyone involved. The ability of teachers to effectively motivate
students plays a major role
Netflix Is The Worlds Leading Internet Television Network
Netflix is a movie business that s offers a variety of ways for customers to view
movies. The company offers traditional DVD rental by mail and instant streaming
on Netflix ready devices that could be hooked up to one s TV. Netflix uses a
subscription based model, that allows customers to utilize their services through a
per month fee rather than a pay as you go rate. Although the company used to offer
a combined subscription rate for DVD rentals and online streaming together, in 2011
Netflix divided these features into the two packages. It is $7.99 for the basic online
streaming package and $7.99 for the DVD rental by mail package. If a customer
wants to have both features they much purchase both separate packages. Netflix

They have done so by creating mutually beneficial relationships with a number of
entertainment video providers. Their second main strategy is focused on product
differentiation. Not only how customers obtain the content and use it, but also what
customers choose what to watch. Netflix s leading competitive advantage lies within
their unique software. The software takes what a customer has watched or rated and
based upon that information builds a list of suggested titles similar to ones they have
just watched. While other companies like Blockbuster has transitioned into the rent
by mail niche category that Netflix had started, no other company has customer
profiling software quite like Netflix. It is continuously updating their smart selection
technology to keep up with customer needs. Over the past few years the film rental
market underwent a major shift. The in store rental market plummeted by nearly $2
million, while vending machine rentals increased by about ten times the amount and
by mail rentals nearly doubled. However, Video On Demand (VOD) services
obtained through cable, digital, and subscription also saw even larger increases. All
of these changes meant companies like Blockbuster and Hollywood Video had to
either restructure and make a complete business model shift or face bankruptcy.
Meanwhile, the increases for by mail rentals and VOD subscription, both of which

Maze Song Analyse
Maze is a song that was written and composed originally in English by a South
Korean rap group that goes by the name of Epik High. Most of the songs produced
by this group are social commentaries on the state of the world. This song in
particular deals specifically with the topic of life and the struggles that come with
it. They equate life to a maze, repeating the phrase over and over again throughout
the song. The books that this song relates to in particular are Siddhartha, Life of Pi,
the Alchemist, and The Things They Carried. In Maze, they talk about the state of
the world. Love, sex, greed, addictions. What s next need directions. There s nobody
left to follow . This line could be seen as description of what the music industry has...

You step in it and you blow up, you exit or you grow up . In the line previous to
this one they talk about avoiding all of Earth s landmines which is probably in
reference to all the problems going on in the world. It could also be interpreted as
the problems that life throws at you. You exit or you grow up means that when
these problems come your way, you could either choose to give up or face your
problems head on. In Life of Pi, Pi is basically battling for his life every single day.
He could have easily given up after the first week but he chose to keep going. Pi
even goes through a point where he is genuinely ready to die. By the next morning
I had lost all fear of death, and I resolved to die (Martel, 241). He clearly does not
die after that but proceeds to live on after he encounters another cast away. Another
topic that the song touches on is the harshness of reality. It s a murder fact, reality
kills . In Life of Pi, the readers can never be certain of what is the truth and what is
completely fabricated. At the end of the novel Pi asks Which is the better story,
the story with the animals or the story without the animals (Martel, 317). It can be
assumed that Pi created this false story as a coping mechanism to deal with the
horrific things that happened while he was out at sea. Going back to Epik High s
song, reality can sometimes be too harsh for people to handle but it s something
that we do end up having to accept. In the line Call your doctor now for your reality
pill the doctor giving you your reality pills could be a metaphor for society and how
society will always bring you back into
How Did Lenin Succeed In Coming To Power
Central Idea:
It is my position that Lenin succeeded in his goal of revolutionizing Russia and
coming to power because he managed to win the favor of the masses, Lenin also
staged the Red October revolution, and he logically maintained power until his death.
Supporting Idea 1:
The folly of the provisional government led by the untrusted Alexander Kerensky
caused the people of Russia to move towards the various revolutionary groups.
Bolsheviks gained large amounts of support from the military for their movement to
end the war, which was a long time request of the people declined by the provisional
government. The Bolshevik effort was bolstered even further with the failure of
Kornilov s coup, which weakened the government even more; this caused
Zavestoki, Shulman, And Schlosberg s The Unknown Citizen
The main idea in the short story, The Unknown Citizen, is about an overly
controlling government that regulates every aspect of a citizen s lives. Each of the
branches of this government declared this unknown man was a hard worker, nice,
and served the greater community because he was part of a whole and had lost his
individuality. Much as in The Unknown Citizen, society is leaning towards a too
strong government. The main ideas of this poem reflect a very real society that is
filled with complacent and controlled citizens through the world of the internet. The
individual in the poem made sure to do everything that he was instructed because he
did not want to disturb the regime. He had become complacent in the controlled

The real life computerized record keeping systems mirror the many departments in the
poem that dictate every detail of the citizens lives. This even extends to colleges are
analyzing all kinds of student data to figure out who needs extra support and when
advisers and faculty should intervene. But as technology advances, and students
offline and online lives become more intertwined, data analytics may raise more
ethical questions (Quinton).
Though it appears that all of the citizens were mindlessly following this Greater
Community, the narrator of this poem was trying to show how everyone was not
following orders and was not part of the system. The narrator was trying to show
the people who saw this statue that accepting what the government does is not
always the course to follow. The bureaucrat who wrote about the unknown citizen
wanted people to question and not to bow to those little changes which really won t
affect our programs we are in effect giving to Big Brother and going in the way of

Analysis Of October Skies And Queen Of Katwe
Throughout history, people have risen who have influenced modern day society.
Their inventions or strong characters have marked them as important historical
figures. Many are still remembered today, due to the inspiration they have passed
on, and many of these have also had movies published telling their story. Movies
such as October Skies and Queen of Katwe tell stories of two separate beings, who
have had a great impact in modern days. Although Homer Hickamand Phiona Mutesi
struggle to find their paths to success due to their circumstances and background,
Phiona Mutesi story possesses a more accessible storyline because of its emphasis on
international figures rather than national.
The movies October Skies and Queen of Katwe both hold two separate main
characters, each which is struggling in life in their own way and just wants to
change their life. For Homer Hickam, in October Skies, his dream is to do
something with his life that does not include mining for coal. His desire in life is to
get away from his hometown by building a rocket and hopefully getting a
scholarship into college. On the other hand, there is Phiona Mutesi, in Queen of
Katwe, whose desire is to escape her life of poverty and have her family live a better
life. The way she goes about it is by entering a chess competition, which if she wins
she will get a reward that will help her build a better life. Both Homer and Phiona
have the same dream, to escape. They have the desire to be something better, and
Why Was The Incas Successful
The Incas ruled a large portion of South America for just shy of one hundred years,
from 1438 until 1532. There are two main reasons why the Incas were successful.
Although they were successful rulers, they were not prepared for the European
invaders. The farming methods the Incas implemented at the time were revolutionary.
They grew their crops are in a controlled climate. The method they used was a
circular design in which the circles would get deeper. The deeper the circle, the cooler
the crops. The highest circle was the warmest. The idea was climate controlled crops
via the sun. Which means that once the sun set, the crops still retained the warmth of
the sun allowing them to continue to grow. The Incas implemented thIs method on
Reasons Why People Go Into The Western Frontier
There are many people and many reasons why people were going into the western
frontier. According to Google, the definition frontier is the extreme limit of
understanding or achievement in a particular area. The sudden move to the west
was originally caused by gold being found. Settlers would pack up everything and
move to the west to get rich. Instead, they found wild cattle, copper, silver, and
probably most important, Indians. Because of the lack of law and government
control out in the west, lots of criminals would go out there to escape the law. One
example being Billy the kid. However, many of these criminals became legends, law
men, and ranchers. In Tombstone they found silver and people came flocking to get a
claim. In Bisbee, they

The craving for shrimp flavored Ramen Noodles is what got me into the mess that
would later allow me to become the person I am today. My friends and I were
enjoying another day of Ramadan inside our local mosque, when my mom came in
and told us that the food had run out. Many of my friends began to leave, but I took
this as an opportunity to create an adventure of serving 100 people. Why go our
separate ways when we could all get together and make a simple meal? We quickly
purchased the noodles and headed back to the mosque. Pulling into the parking lot
was horrific. Protesters swarmed the area, shoving signs in our faces and throwing
slurs and insults toward a community who had done nothing wrong. At first, I was

The Causes Of Reconstruction In The American Civil War
After the North wins the Civil War the South was in ruins. Train tracks are
demolished therefore preventing supplies to be sent to the people living in the South,
and hundreds of buildings have collapsed. Thousands are dead or injured. Everyone
knows what is coming next. Reconstruction has just begun, but how long will it last?
The Civil War ended in the year 1865 and because the North won the war slavery was
abolished. Amendments thirteen, fourteen, and fifteen have been ratified.
Amendment thirteen ended slavery. Amendment fourteen gave African Americans,
American citizenship and civil rights. The fifteenth amendment made it illegal to
deny someone the right to vote based on race. (The DBQ Project 505).
Reconstruction started in 1866 through 1909. A terrorist group called the Ku Klux

freedom and civil rights for the African Americans. Information for this essay was
used from the newspapers Harper s Weekly, Independent Monitor, and the Boston

government, paying more attention to the government frauds than reconstruction,
and the public opinion turning against reconstruction, the North is responsible for
killing reconstruction. Since the North did not want the free slaves in their

Effect of Rising Oil Prices on Indian Economy

CONFIDENT ASSERTION
There is first the confident assertion of the Chairman and Managing Director of
Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Mr R. S. Butola, that the impact of higher crude prices
need not always be severe, and can, in fact, be circumvented by means of some
ingenious countervailing measures.
The IOC seems to have achieved this by carrying out crash modernisation and
upgradation of plants and shifting the dominant part of its business plan to
petrochemicals.
For instance, by using modern processes, IOC has been able to convert many black
products into high value fuel such as LPG and petrol, significantly raising the
company s distillate yield from 71.5 per cent in 2004 05 to 75.4 per cent in 2010 11,
and thereby extracting more high value products from every barrel of crude.
A recent IMF working paper (No.11/194) Oil shocks in a global perspective: Are
they really that bad? is a scholarly exposition downplaying the gloomy
prognostications associated with surging oil prices. The importance of the paper is
that it almost exclusively focuses on the economies of developing countries.
It goes into the relationship between oil prices and macroeconomic fundamentals,
including economic output and value and volume of international
Charles Martel And The Franks Versus The Moorish
Kingdom
Live for something or die for nothing, said the second best war general of all time.
George S. Patton said this but Charles Martel is the greatest war general ever. After
the fall of the Western Roman Empire, Europe split into small kingdoms and tribal
groupings. This era was called called the Dark Ages but culture and civilization
flourished in most areas. This was a time when many successors to Roman power
fought one another and battled along their frontiers. Spain was more or less
dominated by the Visigoths. The Duchy of Aquitaine ruled southwestern France. The
largest western European states was the kingdom of the Franks, this stretched from
the English Channel and North Sea coasts to the Mediterranean, and from a narrow
holding on the Atlantic coast north of Aquitaine to Bavaria and Saxony. This paper
will examine Charles Marteland the Franks versus the Moorish Kingdom; this paper
will tell you about the Battle of Tours/Poitiers, Frankish kingdom was a Christian
state, like most of the Europe. They could fielded a powerful army based around
core of elite armored infantry. The other force was made up of lighter armed foot
soldiers. The armored cavalry was not yet dominant force in European warfare. The
Franks were powerful and very warlike. They were very less potent the Visigothic
kingdom of Iberia. There was famine in some areas and the fighting among
themselves, the central authorities had broken rivals of the king.
Charles Martel was born in 688 to Pepin
The Impact Of Digital Distraction In The College Classroom
Digital Distraction in the College Classroom
Digital distraction is the addiction that one has to the internet, their phone or any
form of digital technology. This is constantly becoming a bigger problem in this
day and age as technology is advancing and new electronics are constantly being
released. These nonstop advancements are having a big impact on education,
especially in the college classroom. Being digitally distracted can do a lot to a
person, considering the fact that the phone and internet have become a huge form of
pleasure for many. Being digitally distracted can make a person lazy and careless
and when it is happening in the college classroom, it gets in the way of learning.
Digital distraction is being seen everywhere nowadays, but one of the places that is
has the biggest impact is the college class because it inhibits learning not just for the
user, but for the people around them too. Due to this rise in technology, millennials
have been dubbed digital natives for their comfort with and addiction to devices like
smartphones (Gose). This is something that needs to be fixed because it causes things
such as, the students not listening and missing their professor s instructions, leading
to bad grades and habits, distracts others, and can cause overall laziness. Although
technology has become an on growing problem in the class there are some solutions
to solving this issue such as taking phones away, having a place to put them at the
beginning of class, a
Power And Privilege Symposium Analysis
Privilege is defined as a special right, advantage, or immunity granted or available
only to one person or group of people (Oxford Dictionary). The University of Alaska
Southeast hosted the Power and Privilege symposium to give opportunity to
community members and UAS students to voice their concerns about issues that are
affecting our community. For example, the attendees where able to discussion issues
about climate change and actions we can take to ensure the safety of our community.
The Power and Privilege symposium gave community members the chance to voice
their concern about issues they are passionate about. For my community service I
volunteer at the event to help organize before and during the symposium. I helped

Robert Frost s Life Through Poetry

Robert Frost Reflects Life Through Poetry
It is easy to express your emotions, and feelings through poetry. Which is exactly
what Robert Frost has done through his entire career. Each poem Robert Frost has
written, has meaning behind it all. He has gone through an extreme amount of
events, and tragedies in his life. Frost has been through an unimaginable amount of
losses, deaths, and loneliness throughout his years. Throughout his life his poetry has
had a huge impact on him, the situations and losses, and emotions he had
encountered in his life were expressed and showed throughout his poetry.
Robert had suffered from emotional and physical abuse throughout his childhood,
which had caused him to live his life being apprehensive, and afraid. Even though
these things had caused him to be emotionally unstable, and leave him fearful for
his entire life; they had also allowed him to be one of the most incredible poets in
history. Frost s father was an alcoholic who had anger issues as well, one time he
had whipped young Roberts s legs repeatedly with a dog chain (Postema, 160).
Frost was born in San Francisco, where he had lived for 11 years, until his father
had passed away due to Tuberculosis in 1885. After his father s passing, himself, his
mother and his sister Jeanie had moved to Eastern Massachusetts. Isabelle Frost
(Robert s mother), had helped her family by getting a job to be a teacher, which
allowed her to continue teaching and homeschooling her own
Laura s Struggle In The Two Offers, By Frances Harper
Marriage is a binding contract signed with the commitment and approval of both
partners; however, the failure of one partner to uphold their role s responsibilities can
lead to a breach in their couple s contract, thus shattering their relationship. The 19th
century fictional short story, The Two Offers , by Frances Harper, is a story about a
womanwho is faced with two proposals and chooses a negligent decision that effects
the overall quality of her life. In another story, The Yellow Wallpaper by Charlotte
Gilman, a physician husband misdiagnoses his wifewho is suffering from postpartum
depression and places her in a suffocating, isolative environment. Furthermore, The

Any individual can achieve their aspirations with the correct influences, but for Laura
in The Two Offers , her voice is diminished by her husband s authority, leading
subsequently to her personal oppression. As Laura enters marriage, she initially
illustrates it as a beautiful dream, but eventually, her dream transforms into a
nightmare as her husband discovers other attractions that lay beyond the pale of
home influences (Harper 4). Although Laura formerly holds a positive outlook on
marriage, her view changes drastically as her husband starts to form decisions on his
own accord without the input his wife. Despite her husband s autonomy, however,
Laura persists her inferior role in marriage and fails to directly voice her concerns.
With her carelessness, Laura amplifies her subjection and ultimately allows her
husband to assume more authority over her. Furthermore, as Laura s husband starts to
frequently leave from his house to drink and gamble, the severity of his authority
rises uncontrollably, causing his wife s subjection to intensify under his rule (Harper
5). Although Laura s husband can freely make his own decisions, his unhealthy
choices consume him and
Descriptive Essay About Going To The City
Leaving home to come to a city so far away for college was one of the hardest
decisions that I ve ever been faced with. I was excited at first, but when the time
came around of my leaving, nervousness started to come the surface. I was excited
because this would be the opportunity for me to spread my wings and leave the nest,
but I was nervous because I had never been so far away from my family. I had always
been in close proximity of their reach. I was nervous because I would no longer be
able to just run home and hide from my problems, I would have to face the real
world, I would have to face the things I ve been sheltered from my whole life.
My decision changed on the regular basis, I never really had a set plan although I
had visited the University of Cincinnati multiple times and I had traveled around the
city and I fell in love with it. I never saw myself moving across the city because of
how sheltered I was but I knew that I needed to break away. A day came where I
decided to devote time to calculate the costs of each school to see which one would
fit my financial budget. I liked how the University of Cincinnati s tuition was
relatively cheaper than my initial top choices. The final straw of making my
decision was that the city itself as well as the school was very diverse, which gave
me a sense of belonging.
I gathered enough information to make me want to come to the University of
Cincinnati, but I didn t gather enough information on calculating the costs. I
Englishmen and Colonization in the Seventeenth Century
Essay
Perception, understanding and judgment of humankind were far backward in the
sixteenth century. The English Empire was a huge colonial power in that era. They
were discovering the places that have never touched by so called fair skinned
people. English voyagers were able to reach the shores of West Africa after 1550.
Until seventeenth century English colonials did not develop a slave trade. These
small number of people set up an organized settlement in the foreign land. They were
also able to keep their own laws and language. At Kormantin in 1631 Englishmen had
their first settlement in Africa. According to Jordan, it was the meeting of
Englishmen and African people outside the concept of Negro as a slave. Rather,

African man meant a black man to English invaders. They described Negroes as
black. These northern people were specialist about defining people. They simply
emphasized the difference of complexion. Being other than white skin should have
meant sign of inferiority. Literature of antiquity and the Middle Ages actually
offered introduction to the Ethiope. Englishmen were acquainted with black
skinned people before than sixteenth century. Native West Africans hit the ground
of London in 1554. Five Negroes were taken to English land to learn the language
and brought back to use in trade. Negroes were described as able to agree with
meateas and drinkes however, those black skinned people did not enjoy the cold
and moist air. Racial identity contains lots of meaning. It is more than a describing
the fact of complexion. It is far more than stating the color of people. It has a deep
meaning. In England, the concept of blackness had an intense meaning. According
to Oxford English Dictionary, the meaning of black before the sixteenth century
included, deeply stained with dirt; soiled, dirty, foul, horrible, wicked... It was a
symbol of baseness and color of evil. Black color roughly reminded people
undesired bad things and manners. On the other hand there was the other color, the
contrary one. It was the white color. White color was defined as a symbol of all
superior things. These colors were opposite, they were described as white and black
like sweet and sour. White and
Owl Vs Nightingale Research Paper
A famous example of a debate is The Owl and the Nightingale. At the very
beginning, the mood is set as emotionally charged as it was stated, Now gentle,
now in furious spate. / And each against the other swelled ( The Owl 6 7). The first
contrast between the Owl and the Nightingale were depicted by their placements.
The Owl was housed within a stump alone, / Decayed, with ivy overgrown ( The
Owl 25 26). The Nightingale, on the other hand, stood on a pretty twig / Where
blossom showed on every sprig ( The Owl 15 16). Later, as the debate started, the
opposing personalities were highlighted as well. The Nightingale spat at the Owl,
You perch by day and fly by night, / And that s not natural or right ( The Owl 89 90)

Hyperspectral Image Classification
Classification is a principle technique in hyperspectral images (HSI) analysis, where
a label is assigned to each pixel based on its characteristics. Applying machine
learning techniques to these datasets need special consideration, since the
hyperspectral images are typically represented by features vectors of extremely high
dimensions. A robust HSI classification requires a prudent combination of deep
feature extractor and powerful classifier. In the last one decade, extensive
classification methods are designed in hyperspectral objects, but these approaches
prone to learn the correlated features, and usually fail to consider the structural
information in the feature space. Most of CNN methods extract image features at the
last layer... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Keywords: High dimensionality, Hyperspectral image, classification, deep learning,
feature extraction, Introduction In the last decade, hyperspectral image (HSI)
classification has been a very active research discipline. Hyperspectral image
contains ultra high dimensional data with hundreds spectral channels, which leads to
highly correlated features and the noises that presented in adjacent bands. However,
the classification results are affected by these redundant and correlated features.
Therefore, in processing hyperspectral images, the classification approaches has
been proposed jointly by dimensionality reduction. Several feature extraction
methods (see Section 2) have been developed to solve the classification problem in
hyperspectral images. Feature extraction based on HSI aims to reduce the
dimensionality of the data while preserving the discriminative information (spectral
spatial information) as possible. However, there is no universal feature extraction
which perform well in all type of application and thus, it remain an active research
area in advancing HSI analysis for the foreseeable future. Moreover the complexity,
diversity, dimensionality and quantity of HSI are all increasing day by day and thus,
the existing learning tasks are computationally inapplicable and incompetent for
analyzing and modeling the HSI data [9]. There are several challenges in the
hyperspectral data classification: (1) ultra high dimensionality of data, (2) limited
Lin, 2009 Critical Analysis
Critically evaluate Lin, 2009. Is it true that an international student must learn a new
way of thinking and writing when they come to study in a UK type academic
environment?
INTRODUCTION
Nowadays, there is a lot of scientist and professional who want to learn English to
benefit from its leading position of power in modern research and economy. Linn
(2009) mentioned that he agree with what Schneider Fujishima (1995) say about
academic writing in English particularly after its long history of development.

A lot of academic readers may agree with him because writing in short paragraph will
make reading easier.
III Non Metaphorical Usage: almost all languages use metaphors to explain
meaning. Trujillo Seaz(2003), cited in Linn(2009) claimed that it might be used in
high levels in the UK media and the American business communication. On the other
hand, academic writers try not to use metaphors that much in their published
academic papers. According to Linn(2009) the Oriental, Semitic and Romance
/Russian do not make that difference in academic writing. People may argue that
probably it is better to make the published paper as easy as they could, so it will be
understandable for the majority of the readers. Others could argue that maybe the
paper was not published for the public to read or to understand it was published for
professional academic readers.

AIDS In Cry Freedom, Malcolm X, And Cry Freedom
Whether it is Tom Hanks from Forrest Gump or Julia Roberts from Erin Brockovich,
actors and actresses have the power to leave movie goers thinking. Along with the
writer, director, producer and about a hundred others, actors have some impact on
what viewers feel. Denzel Washington is an actor who is constantly involved in
influential movies. Denzel Washingtons roles in dissenting voice films like
Philadelphia, Fences, Malcolm X, and Cry Freedom leave viewers discussing and
emotionally reacting to opinions that differ from the majority. Philadelphia introduces
justice and the social issues, prejudice and discrimination, that comes from sexual
orientation and a medical diagnosis. Fences highlights discrimination and delivers a
message on the meaning of life and all that comes with it. Malcolm Xgives viewers a
look at politics, transformations, and discrimination while Cry Freedom sheds
light on the political corruption, friendship, and race relations in South Africa. In
1993, Philadelphia was released starring Denzel Washington and Tom Hanks.
Washington played a homophobic lawyer, Joe Miller who, unwilling at first,

introduces the social and medical fear that surrounds AIDS and the people who have
it. The main message behind this ground breaking

less severe traffic violations including speeding, running a red light, not using turn

Upon completion of traffic school your points will be dismissed and your ticket is
considered resolved. Often times traffic school can even be done online. There is
a fee for the driving school and it is typically the same amount as the fine.
Unfortunately you cannot be considered for traffic school if your violation is a
misdemeanor, if it is because of traffic tickets, if it involved any alcohol or drugs, if
you must appear in court, if you were driving a commercial vehicle, and if you
have a commercial driver s license. Types of infractions include parking where you
aren t supposed including red zones and handicapped space, running a red light,
turning illegally, not stopping at a stop sign, changing lanes with no signal, using
the carpool lane with no passengers, no headlights when driving at night, and
hitting another vehicle. You can attend traffic school if you hold a valid driver s
license and if you are eligible by the courts to attend driving school you will receive
a notice in the mail with the details. If you ve been have a traffic ticket that is
causing your points to go up, causing your insurance company to potentially drop you
or causing your license to go suspended you should hire a traffic ticket attorney as
soon as possible. As an experienced and knowledgeable traffic ticket attorney, we will

Reflection Of Victor Frankenstein
I watched the movie Victor Frankenstein, in this movie unlike others before it, they
intended to portray the life of the creator instead of the monster. I believe that they
successfully made this difference because they explain his life and show his years
before the monster is even created. The movie is more focused on Igorand his
relationship with Victor Frankenstein. This film shows more concern with the
journey of the two men and how they come to be equals in not only the science
aspect but in the aspect of being humans. For Victor Frankenstein the journey is
focused on forgiveness and feeling guilty for his brothers death. Victor feels guilty

I truly believe that this was a good movie. It pleased my asthetic and was a variety
of different genres within one movie. However I did not enjoy the gross gore and
animal cruelty shown in this movie. This movie was very strange in the way they
planned out how things were going to be brought up and how they left out key
parts of the story but how they told the story that was told was very good. This
movie did not go over very well with society. The movie got very bad reviews
because, like me, people did not very much like the amount of gore and animal
cruelty shown in this movie. For example, in the movie it shows a half dead chimp
with a rotting corpse and flies coming out of it. That chimp must have been in so
much pain and just the fact that they brought to life that chimp and killed it over
and over again made me cry. Not only that but Victor Frankenstein also shoved a
five inch needle into Igor s back and sucked out the contents of his hump which
made me gag. So needless to say it was not very openly enjoyed in the public

Examples Of Stereotypes In Pop-Culture
How Ethnicity is Portrayed in Pop Culture in both Greece and the United States
Stereotypes are not always accurate, but when it comes to describing Greek People
many of them are true. Most of these are true to an extent, but due to pop culture all
these aspects are presented to their extreme and can be misleading. In addition, the
difference in which these aspects are depicted in Greek films versus American films
can be very different. Being loud, very family oriented, carefree, and extremely
proud of their identity are a few of the most popular stereotypes when describing
Greeks. Pop culture can be deceiving at times as everything is exaggerated in order to
catch the audience s attention and have a shock factor, but those aspects, exaggerated

Essay on Internet Taxation
Internet Taxation
The advent and expansion of the Internet have brought the issue of the application of
state and local sales taxation to Internet, telephone, catalog, and other remote sales to
the forefront of the policy debate. Under current law, states cannot require
corporations without a substantial presence within their borders to collect and remit
sales taxes. While all states do require residents to remit the taxes owed in the form
of use tax payments, few people send in use tax forms, rendering remote sales
essentially tax free. The revenue loss due to the lack of taxation on Internet sales has
been minimal thus far; however, states are concerned that the growth of the Internet
will lead to a substantial drain on revenue. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Note that the high court s decision was in 1992, a full two years before the
commercial Web existed. The states argue that it is legally easier for them to go
after the Web sites. And therein lies the implicit threat and the only stick the states
hold: They are making a not so subtle threat to start suing e commerce sites unless
they start collecting state sales tax. The SSUTA group set Oct. 1 as a target date
for states to start enforcement. The legal standing that the states would have to
force e commerce sites to comply is weak at best, but it s the classic lawsuit threat:
We may lose, but you ll be forced to spend tons of money for lawyers and appearing
in courtrooms and giving depositions. And, heck, there s always a chance that we ll

Argument Against Internet Sales Taxes
Remote Sales and Taxation Issue
In a series of opinions, the Supreme Court has ruled that states cannot compel firms
without a substantial nexus within the taxing state to collect and remit use taxes. The
most important cases are National Bellas Hess, Inc. v. Department of Revenue of Ill.
and Quill Corp. North Dakota. Substantial nexus has been interpreted to mean a
physical presence, and precludes states from requiring vendors whose only
connection to the state is by mail, phone, or Internet to remit taxes. In their 1992
decision in Quill, the court ruled that requiring out of state vendors to collect the use

The meaning of the first stanza is do the things you need to get done because
tomorrow the opportunity may not exist. It states this by saying gather rosebuds

people are young to realize their dreams and do something about it instead of
wasting time. Have as much fun as you can while you are a kid and do as much as

I really like this poem because it makes me want to get out of bed in the morning
or turn off the television and do something productive like read a book, or go to the

Law Enforcement Officer
Why is anyone considered a hero? Well one person who pops right into my mind is
our law enforcement officers. In fact, they are constantly looking fear in the face
right here at our home. As a matter of fact, the typical hero everyone thinks of is our
service men and women, but think about the men and women who you call when
there s a robbery, or a disturbance, or someone is slinging dope on the street. You
don t call the national guard, or the marines you dial 911.
First, let s look at what a police officer must go through on a daily basis. Sure, some
cops just answer domestic disturbances, whereas Phil, a drunk and disorderly man, is
throwing the handset phone at his wife and threatening her life, who does she call?
Not the military, no she ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In return, the gang may now send goons to take out the officer sitting in his patrol
car, or send them after his family. Meanwhile, police officers are recommended to
not carry photos in their wallets with them for these specific purposes. The job of a
police officer is never easy. In return, they should be shown the respect they deserve.
My final point I d like to make is all of the situations the officer goes through on the
job causes a lot of stress. The officer may bring these horrible moods home and
argue with his or her spouse or he or she may take it out on the kid. With the parent
never home this neglects the kid from his or her parent. The quality time that child
is required is stripped of him, when a parent straps on their utility belt and badge.
Being a police officers has its ups and downs, many people s lives can fall apart
because of their career.
In conclusion, I believe all of these traits consequently, make a police officer a hero.
They fight crime, deals with sometimes unbearable amounts of stress, and ranking
bears more vigorous training. All of these traits make men and women of law
enforcement, America s domestic heroes. We should be grateful 911 is available for

Temporary Standpipes Report
You asked the following questions: With regard to temporary standpipes, how
many are required in a building during construction? Does the size of the building
have an impact on the number of temporary standpipes? Does the IFC requirement
in 905.4(6) apply to temporary standpipes or is this only to the final standpipe
locations? In response to your questions we have reviewed NFPA 14, 2013 edition
that you indicated as the applicable standard and the IFC, 2012 edition as the

The IFC provides guidance regarding these situations in 3313.1. Where required to

accessible locations adjacent to usable stairways. Such standpipes shall be extended
as construction progresses to within one floor of the highest point of construction

then only one standpipe can be provided. If there are two or more usable stairways,
then additional standpipes are provided. When a standpipe is installed, the base

Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Theory Essay
Erik Erikson s psychosocial theory states that we go through 8 developmental stages
in life. Erikson states that these stages are necessary in the progression and
development of human growth from infancy into adulthood. Each developmental
stage presents a crisis that must be resolved during that stage for a healthy
development. Erik Erikson s psychosocial theory outlines that we develop in
psychosocial stages instead of psychosexual ones. I agree with Erikson because one

understanding themselves and their identity , the eight stages are a great way to
explain the developmental stages that occurs throughout our life span. Erikson s
theory considers children development in terms of their potential to nurture and
simplify healthful emotional and psychological feature progress. Erikson concluded
that children should not rush their development. He perceived eight unique phases of
development, which were trust vs. mistrust, autonomy vs. shame doubt, initiative vs.
guilt, industry vs. inferiority, identity vs. confusion, intimacy vs. isolation,
generativity vs. stagnation and integrity vs. despair (Cherry, 2011). Each
developmental section is major and must be allowed time to completely unfold.
Erikson recounted that a baby s development have to be compelled to not be rushed

Committed Some Offense. As Opposed To Being Distinctly
committed some offense. As opposed to being distinctly threatening when one is
annoyed, the Iranian who is ghahr with somebody pulls back from any further
action. This withdrawal is not just silence; it is an inward mental withdrawal from
the individual who has irritated their partner. Individuals from all societies have this
inclination, however Iranians have created and refined this sort of reaction more
than others. It could be said that being ghahr may have some helpful qualities, since
it avoids further rough cooperation and fistfights are less inclined to break out. In
any case, being ghahr is a demonstration of wrecking an association with somebody,
as well as of self demolition. The partners pull back to a special internal... Show more

The others are what give the films their strength and masterful expression.
Over the moderately artistic life of Salinger, a large portion of his stories concern
different encounters of the anecdotal Glass family over the mid twentieth century
in New York City. The film focuses on the Glass family s seven intelligent and
savvy youngsters, Seymour, Buddy, Zooey and Franny, every one of whom show
up in scenes of the film Pari (Salinger). The suicide of Seymour Glass, the most
established and most magnetically splendid of the Glass kids, is depicted in
Salinger s A Perfect Day for Bananafish, the story that propelled Salinger to fame.
Parts of this story, however in modified shape and set later in time, are delineated in
Pari. Be that as it may, generally, Pari mirrors the two stories, Franny and Zooey,
which Salinger set near one another in time. Together, those two stories relate the
improvement of Franny s strange world. Franny has long and close relationship
with her sibling Zooey (Salinger). In spite of the fact that Seymour had kicked the
bucket seven years prior, significant reference is made to his solid scholarly impact
on both Zooey and Franny in those two stories. Exchanging a composed anecdotal
story into film regularly displays issues to the movie producer, especially regarding
how to introduce the

The Mysterious Jellicle Cats
The mysterious Jellicle cats with the glowing yellow eyes prowled slowly through
the aisles of the audience under the glimmering full moon, starting the performance
off with an eerie yet intriguing beginning. The musical I watched was CMT
Mainstage s performance of Cats, Les Chats cast. This famous show composed by
Andrew Lloyd Webber is the second longest running musical on Broadway, and it is
based on T. S. Eliot s conglomeration of poems, Old Possum s Book of Practical Cats.
Each musical number is the story of a different cat. Since it is based on an
assortment of rhymes, Cats doesn t have a single obvious lead role but instead
relies heavily upon ensemble singing and large group dance numbers. There was
very little spoken dialogue, but the storyline was beautifully communicated
nevertheless. The story begins with many felines coming onstage and singing about
the tribe of the Jellicle cats. The kitties of this group meet annually so that Old
Deuteronomy can determine which cat will soar off to Heaviside Layer and return
to a new life. A sleek white cat named Victoria announces the invitation to the
Jellicle ball in a grand musical number. One by one, the cats present themselves to
be chosen to ascend to Heaviside Layer with Old Deuteronomy, their leader. First of
all, there is Jennyanydots, the old Gumbie cat. She slumbers and reclines all day
long, growing plump on massive helpings of food. Next, the suave and pompous
tomcat known as the Rum Tum Tugger, bursts onto
Analysis Of Combahee River Collective
Combahee River Collective in their article Combahee River Collective Statement
examines the relationship between racism, heterosexism, economics, and racism. The
group of black feminists, Combahee River Collective, strived to firmly and clearly
establish their position when it came to politics of feminism, and therefore separated
from the male counterparts and white women (Thomas). In the statement, the
activists dwell on four major topics, including the dawn of modern Black feminism,
the domain of politics, short history and the issues and practices of the group. This
paper gives a summary of Combahee River Collective Statement and reviews some
of its key points.

The group embraced solidarity with such unions provided that their needs not just as
socialists but the Black feminists were met.
The Combahee River Collective also stresses on the relationship with their
subjugation and how it molded their identities. It is through the use of the identity
politics, especially their atypical experience, that they pursued the immediate freedom
for the Black women. Even though the group called for the liberation of the women
of color, the activists did not assume an exclusive standpoint, but instead a humble
ground for their group. The collective did not want pedestals, Queenwood and
lagging ten steps behind but rather to be accepted as human, just sensibly as humans
( The Combahee River Collective ). The group s primary focus was on the liberation
of the Black women, something they expressed in the statement black women are
inherently valuable.
The group voiced its concerns in a positive, yet proud, way. It celebrated one another
s personal experiences in a non elitist manner. The members of the group endeavored
to show people around the world that their identity considerations and associations do
not score their experience of repression. They emphasized that the oppression they
underwent is no more than an experience or even more significant compared to the
one of any sideline
Classical Civilization Research Paper
There were many issues and values stressed in Classical civilizations. The main two
that were focused on were expansion and integration. In all of the Classical
civilizations, leaders wanted more land to increase the amount of power, crops, and
innovation they could have. Another issue they stressed was integration. Social
integration was stressed in order to create gender relationships and social hierarchies,
while territorial integration was stressed in order to guarantee their leader had power
over all of his people through a common language, common laws, and trade. Another
value that was related to the previous two, was the need to discuss central values.
Socrates, Confucius, and Buddha all helped by spreading culture throughout their...

One of the most important roles they played was their ability to help the growth of
trade routes and connections. Since they were moving around to find land they came
in contact with many people which helped trading grow. They were also able to
contribute to trade by trading the crops products they produced. Another role they
played was also connected to trade. Religion, one of the most important parts if a
civilization, was spread from place to place through pastoral nomads. One
bittersweet role they played was their ability to attack sedentary groups of people and
push the need for new technology and better militaries. In conclusion, pastoral
nomads had many important roles to play in world history and
The Giver Epilogue
Behind him, across vast distances of space and time, from the place he had left, he
thought he heard music too. But perhaps it was only an echo
As Jonas look at Gabe he realized that he and Gabe had finally made it. Jonas then
glanced up from Gabe s face and he realized where he was. He thought it looked
familiar to him. It was a memory the Giver had given him before. It wasn t just any
memory either, it was the Giver s favorite. The thought of the Giver made him tear
up. Jonas never realized how much he enjoyed the company of him, how he shared
all of his feelings and the memories together, now all he has right now is Gabe. He
was so happy to have Gabe. Now he had to keep Gabe safe, protect him and share
his memories with. Jonas starts to get up off the sled with Gabe in hand. he trudges

The man then tried to deny it. The two of them were interrupted when Elida
walked back into the room. She was carrying soup and two big fleece
blankets.Jonas immediately got up and grabbed a blanket. He then thanked Elida
and curled up in front of the fire. Elida picked up Gabe and started to feed him
some of the soup. He ate all that he was given right up.
So what did you and Jonas talk about Samuel? Elida questioned the man.
I think he knows, Samuel told his wife.
How did he find out? She questioned.
I might have accidentally called him by his name, Samuel mumbled.
What is going on here? Jonas said with a puzzled look.
Elida sat down and looked at Samuel, When you were born you looked just as Gabe
does. Now that doesn t surprise me though, considering you are brothers. Please
Jonas don t worry i m going to explain everything.
Jonas didn t know how to react, at the same time he was happy that he had saved his
brother, but also confused as to how these random strangers are telling him about his
Rise Of Ancient Egypt
By 5,000 BC the general population of Egypt had started cultivating. They likewise
wove cloth and made stoneware. Later they figured out how to utilize bronze. Around
3,200 BC the Egyptians developed written work.
The principal Egyptian in history was King Menes otherwise known as Narmer who
lived without further ado before 3,100 BC. Around then Egypt was isolated into
northern (lower) Egypt and southern (upper Egypt). Around 3118 Menes figured out
how to join the two. He made Memphis his capital.
Antiquated Egypt was an exceedingly composed society. The nation was partitioned
into 42 regions called nomes. Every one was administered by nomarch. Ranchers
paid a portion of their yields in duties.
The primary time of Egyptian history, which finished in 2181 BC is known as the
Old Kingdom. Amid it the pharaohs assembled pyramids. The primary pyramid, the
stride pyramid was worked by Zoser around 2665 BC. Others were worked by the
accompanying pharaohs Sneferu and Khufu. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Egypt and he established the Middle
Mgt 311 Week 4 Dead Load Analysis
Week 4 Dead load refers to the load of the structure itself while live load refers to
the maximum load that can be applied to the bridge before it stops being static.
When taking in to account the information gained in week 3 regarding the distance
between applied forces and their reaction it is made apparent that taking the live
load of a structure into account becomes more complex. For example a group of
hikers walking across a bridge spaced out from each other will cause a significantly
different reaction when compared to the same group of hikers gathering together on
a single section of the bridge to take a photo. Week 6 If a structure is in static
equilibrium, then any portion or segment of it must also be in static equilibrium. With

Free Speech On The Internet
It is about time we have some filters or establish and enforce legal ramifications on
the use of the internet when hate speech is identified in all 50 states. These legal
ramifications should be extended to people in authority who use information from
the internet to get to their subordinates. The internet has radically changed the way
we get and disseminate information. The internet is a place to express free speech
and just be yourself, but this has many times come back to hunt users in a negative
way. This paper will be looking at how schools, workplaces, and even other users
misuse the idea of free speech on the internet and why we need to filter hate speech
and introduce legal ramifications for these actions.
Some schools have used their authorities to discipline students and teachers over
things they posted on the internet from the privacy of their homes and on their
private time. In America, students are not supposed to lose their constitutional rights
at the schoolhouse gate. The protection of students rights to free speech and privacy
in and out of school is essential for ensuring that schools provide both valuable
education and training in our democratic values. Unfortunately, schools continue to
demonstrate a troubling willingness to cut back on students rights. In recent years,
educators have repeatedly disciplined students for speech critical of teachers and
administrators.
An example will be the case of sixth grader in Minnesota who posted on her Facebook
The Pros And Cons Of Ethnic Nationalism
To argue ethnic nationalism as a primordial phenomenon would be to believe that
exclusive bias based off of individual characteristics is of basic human instinct.
However that is a false statement which creates a contradiction in the primordial
argument. Ethnic Nationalism can t be of natural instinct if it isn t natural for
humans to lack compassion for one another. Theoretically for ethnic nationalism to
be considered completely natural, humans need to be evidenced to show no signs of
natural compassion from the beginning of life. That isn t possible. However there is
viable evidence that human beings feel compassion towards those of all social
groups early in life. Something an ethnic nationalist would lack. Research done at the

Capitalism, Racism, Exploitation, And War
Capitalism, I assert is a domineering worldwide system that has allowed for the
cultivation of racism, exploitation and war to exceed through the economic and
ideologies of capitalism. The emergence is compassed through relations and mode of
production and projected onto the superstructures of politics and constructing mental
production for accomplishing the aims of the system. The accomplishment comes at
ease through globalisation to expand ideas of labour theory value and division of
labour and hence allows for the firm grip on granting generations of exploitation, war
and racism.
Political economist like Adam Smith and Karl Marx have investigated the capitalist
system and both have demonstrated the links to exploitation, racism and ... Show

For Marx he states From each according to his ability,to each according to his need
is conceptually related to the concept of a division of labour allows for specialisation
as an intrinsic part of the economic system and the concept is associated with the
capitalist system. For Smith categorising individual skills is the greatest potential for
economic growth and he is interested in a free economic system.
With this categorisation of states and individuals there is a silent rupture of
racism, and the categorisation is placed through into the economic system. Third
world countries are not poor because they have lagged behind the transformation or
the enlightenment values of the European state. Its due to the colonial expansion,
countries were integrated into European economic system as producers of raw
materials and serve as cheap labourers and through the tools of power and
globalisation it is still continued. The power during colonialism was the weapons
that forced large populations to adapt a new way of life depicting western culture
and values and yet is still placed at the bottom of the societal pyramid. The idea of
degrading positions in the social economic system has developed throughout the
world and is reflected in state apparatus structures and the global capitalist structure
by making racism a by product. Even in western nations certain historical skills are
associated with the race and creates hierarchy, so for instance the

  • 2. The Non-Teleological View Of Life In East Of Eden By John... There is no meaning to life. Life has no inherent meaning. The meanings of our lives are chosen by what we feel and experience or are assigned to us by others. The ends of our existence cannot be foreseen and will not be limited by such things as destiny. These are the ideas and philosophies of those who believe life to be non teleological. A famous literary example of a non teleologist is a man named John Steinbeck. Throughout his life Steinbeck experimented with Darwinism, transcendentalism, realism, socialism, naturalism, and Taoism (Endnotes 1). Each of these ways of thinking show up in Steinbeck s philosophy and therefore his work cannot be classified specifically. All that may be said is that he had a non teleological way of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is an important idea to keep in mind when considering teleology. The question in not whether there are efficient or final causes, whether for instance, man sees because he has eyes or has eyes in order to see (Teleological Explanations 1). One of the clearest examples of Steinbeck s non teleological view of life occurs in the novel East of Eden in which a character discusses choice in life and glory of the human soul as a result of that choice. Lee is revealing his discovery of the correct translation of the story of Cain and Able in The Bible. The American Standard translation orders men to triumph over sin, and you call sin ignorance. The King James translation makes a promise in В‘Thou shalt, meaning that men will surely triumph over sin. But the Hebrew word, the word timshelВ—В‘Thou mayest В—that gives choice. It might be the most important word in the world. That says the way is open. That throws it right back on a man. For if В‘Thou mayest it is also true that В‘Though mayest not. Don t you see? (303) The character, Lee, being a Chinese refugee, takes this new idea to heart not as a religious philosophy but as a way of viewing life. He stated: This is not theology. I have no bent towards the gods. But I have a new love for that flittering instrument, the human soul. It is a lovely and unique thing in the universe. It is
  • 3. Reflective Essay For My Family Since I can remember, I have prayed and hoped that for this one thing, and now my wish has finally come true. My immediate family has four people in it and I am the youngest. In my extended family, among all my cousins on both sides, I am also the youngest. For a long time, this has made me kind of sad and frustrated. I love babies and children. Although we have pets I can take care of, it is not the same thing as having a younger brother or sister. Until recently, I never thought I wouldd have something close to this opportunity. I have always wished that I could be a big sister so that I could help care for and have an impact on a younger person s life. Last October, an ordinary day became very special. On that day I found out that my Youth Pastor, Rev. Becca Bateman, was pregnant! Becca has been an important part of my life and someone I admire. To me, Becca is an example of a good person and someone I aspire to be like when I grow up. Rev. Bateman is very caring, welcoming, loving and makes me feel safe. When I found out that she was pregnant, I imagined that there would now be a mini Becca and twice the fun! After the big announcement, the next few months seemed to take forever. Every day I would ask my mom Is it a boy or a girl? My mom would always respond, They still do not know. I will tell you when I find out. So I waited until the day came and my mom finally said, Becca is having a girl! As I heard those words come spilling out of her mouth, I swore my
  • 4. Daycare Disadvantages As I grew up I remember my mother told me stories about how she worked in a Daycare facility while my brother would attend for free. She always tell me education always comes first. I never really understood why she said that until I was old enough to put the pieces together. Both of my parents were High Schooldropouts and went straight to the workforce to provide for a family. She told me daycare was one of the best choices she had made for the educationof her children, she always said that it helped her get my brother academically ready. It gave him a chance to interact with other children, he came out of his shy shell. Also structural wise he did not have an issue with familiarizing himself with the school s daily schedule. According... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (eXtension) It is proven that children learn from hands on learning rather than sitting down and forced to listen to the teacher. Realizing that children have short attention spans made me automatically aware that by having children sit and listen to you for more than 10 minutes will turn into absolute chaos. They will get up and run around, and not pay attention to you at all. As for a daycare facility they have toys for children to play with not just any toys but toys that teach children how to differentiate colors, count your numbers, tell you what the animal is and what noises it makes. Therefore, daycare facilities have a huge impact on children in their basic learning and developing skills. Everyday you have a certain schedule, for example you wake up, brush your teeth, shower and get ready for work or school and etc. As for children they need to develop some type of schedule; without that they will have a hard time in behavioral, and stability skills. A basic daycare structural schedule contains circle time, snack time, diaper change, outside activities, indoor activities, and free play. One of the articles I stumbled across was called The Importance of routines in Children . The article makes a point that caught my eye stating, Kids do not have a lot of control in their lives, but routines can give them a sense of organization, stability, and comfort. As this sense of mastery is strengthened they can tackle larger changes; walking to
  • 5. Franz Schubert Life of Franz Schubert. Franz Peter Schubert (Schubert) is one of the great Austrian composers in the Romantic era. He is famous for songwriting, which he has written over 600 songs (Burkholder 598). He was born in 1797 in Himmelpfortgrund, the suburbs of Vienna, Austria with the great talent in music (Brown). His father, Franz Theodor Schubert, was a schoolmaster and an amateur musician. Schubert s father was teaching music to his own children by himself. Shubert started showing his great music talent and won a scholarship to study music in a boarding school in Vienna. At the school, he had private lessons from Antonio Salieri, a composer who is famous for his operas and kept taking lessons from him even after Schubert left the school due ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The work consists of four movements, Allegro, Andante con moto, Scherzo, and Presto. The subtitle, Death and the Maiden was named after his previous song work, which contains the same themes as the string quartet. One of the unusual features of this string quartet is that the all movements are written in minor keys while typical string quartets contain movements in both major and minor keys. (It modulates into major keys but tonal centres stay in minor keys.) That must reflect his feeling regarding his hopeless future because of the illness he contracted in the same year. I chose the second movement of the string quartet to arrange since I found that unusual feature of the key as stated above, while the second movement of typical string quartets tend to be written in major key if the first movement is written in a minor key. Besides, the 2nd movement is written in the form the variation by using the accompaniment of his previous song work Death and the Maiden (Rothwell). Finally, I arrange the movement for piano solo because it would be to reach a rather than a string quartet and I would like to show pieces that are written for other instruments to people who don t have much opportunity to listen to classical chamber music at a
  • 6. Personal Narrative-Skin Infection It was the summer before sixth grade, I was ten years old. It was late at night, around 11 o clock, when we were leaving our friends rented camp. The sky was black, no stars, no moon. We didn t have to go very far, just down the lake where our camp was. The water was warm on my feet as I walked through the water to get in the boat. It was a pretty old boat, my grandfather s, but it worked just fine to get us around the lake. I was wearing a sweatshirt under my life jacket because I remember that it s usually cold on the ride back, the wind blowing against your skin and through your hair. We loaded our one year old dog, Jake, in the boat before my father pushed us out into deeper water. Our friends said their goodbyes and Jon said to be careful, ... If Jake isn t getting rocks he is just laying in the water not doing anything but soaking up some sun rays. But if Jake is laying there and he sees a minnow swim by, he s up and ready to find out where it s going. That s another thing that Jake is very passionate about, chasing minnows (or small sunfish) along the shallow water. It s a riot. He will see a minnow and be super fascinated by it, sometimes he will even try to pounce on them like a cat. He isn t alway successful with catching the little fish but enjoys the chase. Talking about Jake diving for rocks and chasing the minnows along the beach makes him sound pretty energetic and full of life but it s quite the opposite. Jake would like nothing more in life than to just lay out in the sun all day catching some Z s and be surrounded by people willing to give him all their attention. Jake used to even lay down on the grass in the middle of a walk if he was getting winded (but that was when he was a little more on the chunky side). Jake is like a bear; he gains weight in the winter and burns it in the

Reptiles Research Paper Vett 2 Physiology Paper 4/2/16 The Reptiles Respiratory Function and Procedure for Surgery Reptiles are a unique animal for various reasons, but I find one of these unique qualities to be especially fascinating. That is the respiratory system and how the reptile s spontaneous ventilation rate is directly related to temperature and partial pressure of oxygen, whereas the mammal s respiration is strictly related and driven by carbon dioxide. In veterinary medicine this is something that comes up when it comes time to use anesthesia on a reptile for a surgical or other procedure in which they will need to be anesthetized. Inhalants are somewhat of a contradiction as the lizard can hold its breath for long periods of time during the induction ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I find it so interesting that the lizard almost has a combination of the mammalian and the avian respiratory system. The lack of a diaphragm as well as the fact that there are two species of lizards that use the exact same respiratory physiology as the avian species show me the relation to them. Then the fact that most of the other lizards use two bronchi and basic alveoli structures for gas exchange, really made me realize the combination of the two. I hope to one day do some work with the lizard under anesthesia and help with the ventilation, as I find this to be interesting and really feel I have gotten a grasp on their

It is important in all, physically, mentally and emotionally ways. Sleep can change a person s day or in other words it can change a person s mood. Sleep is a great medicine for our bodies which helps us throughout the day, because we conserve energy. A person who work and goes to school needs a lot of sleep in order to make it throughout the day. Taking naps after my classes, using technology before bed and stress has made it difficult for me to sleep during my first semester of college. One of the reasons why I have difficulty sleeping at night was because of taking naps after my classes. Taking naps after I am done with class for the day became a routine for me. Especially in the evening, whenever I took naps in the evening, around 4 or 5 o clock, I always woke up at 8 or 7, and then it makes it harder for me to sleep at night. Taking naps was also wasting my time to study and do homework s. I would then sleep for hours and woke up at night tired and grouchy. • 9. The Theory Of Social Disorganization Theory Essay Introduction The argument in which this paper is intended to argue is that those individuals who live in poverty have a greater chance at committing crimes than those who do not. There are many possible factors and reasons as to why people who live in poverty can commit more crimes that those who do not and this essay will attempt to explain that. The independent variable for this argument would be the poverty that individuals have to endure and live through, while the dependent variables are crimerates in that neighborhood. Although various theories can be used in order to explain the link between poverty and crime, the one that best fits would be social disorganization theory. Social disorganization theory is a theory, which emphasizes environmental impacts of living in neighborhoods that are high in crime and also stresses that this is the reason that criminal activity increases (Tibbetts Hemmens, 2015). The Chicago school theory is otherwise known as the theory of social disorganization as well. Chicago was the fastest growing city in America back in the 19th century (Tibbetts Hemmens, 2015). This theory aimed at explaining why such rapid growth of a city caused so much crime in areas that were growing (Tibbetts Hemmens, 2015). This is important to the reader as it shows that there is a major social aspect to the problem of crime in which the environment of an individual, if living in poverty, may influence the way in which they socialize, live and ultimately
  • 10. A Reflection On Teaching And Learning There are many activities that occur in education. Teaching and learning are showcased as being the two most important by Hoy and Hoy. These activities require an impressive skill set to execute successfully in the classroom arena. The purpose of everything that transpires in the name of education is for the sole purpose of student learning. I agree with their assertion that student differences impact the amount and rate at which students learn. Students have great differences in race, gender, learning styles, intelligence, and emotions. Hoy and Hoy s view of improvement as being progressive and constant, was hard for me to wrap my head around in earlier years. Constructive criticism appeared to be a means to keep me suppressed and in check. Luckily, I learned the ignorance contained within my thinking. Things like professional development, observations, and PLC s were meant to improve my skills as a teacher. Constant collaborative and reflective analysis helps correct imperfections and oversights as we strive for higher student achievement as the school year rolls on. As Hoy and Hoy mention, these are obtainable through principals that communicate the clear vision of the school to all involved stakeholders. The correlation between positive influences and success is discussed as well. I know first hand that having a vested interest in my school and students improve everyone involved. The ability of teachers to effectively motivate students plays a major role

The company offers traditional DVD rental by mail and instant streaming on Netflix ready devices that could be hooked up to one s TV. Netflix uses a subscription based model, that allows customers to utilize their services through a per month fee rather than a pay as you go rate. Although the company used to offer a combined subscription rate for DVD rentals and online streaming together, in 2011 Netflix divided these features into the two packages. Their second main strategy is focused on product differentiation. Not only how customers obtain the content and use it, but also what customers choose what to watch. Netflix s leading competitive advantage lies within their unique software. The software takes what a customer has watched or rated and based upon that information builds a list of suggested titles similar to ones they have just watched. While other companies like Blockbuster has transitioned into the rent by mail niche category that Netflix had started, no other company has customer profiling software quite like Netflix. It is continuously updating their smart selection technology to keep up with customer needs. Over the past few years the film rental market underwent a major shift. The in store rental market plummeted by nearly $2 million, while vending machine rentals increased by about ten times the amount and by mail rentals nearly doubled. However, Video On Demand (VOD) services obtained through cable, digital, and subscription also saw even larger increases. All of these changes meant companies like Blockbuster and Hollywood Video had to either restructure and make a complete business model shift or face bankruptcy. Meanwhile, the increases for by mail rentals and VOD subscription, both of which services
  • 12. Maze Song Analyse Maze is a song that was written and composed originally in English by a South Korean rap group that goes by the name of Epik High. Most of the songs produced by this group are social commentaries on the state of the world. This song in particular deals specifically with the topic of life and the struggles that come with it. They equate life to a maze, repeating the phrase over and over again throughout the song. The books that this song relates to in particular are Siddhartha, Life of Pi, the Alchemist, and The Things They Carried. In Maze, they talk about the state of the world. Love, sex, greed, addictions. What s next need directions. There s nobody left to follow . This line could be seen as description of what the music industry has... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... You step in it and you blow up, you exit or you grow up . In the line previous to this one they talk about avoiding all of Earth s landmines which is probably in reference to all the problems going on in the world. It could also be interpreted as the problems that life throws at you. You exit or you grow up means that when these problems come your way, you could either choose to give up or face your problems head on. In Life of Pi, Pi is basically battling for his life every single day. He could have easily given up after the first week but he chose to keep going. Pi even goes through a point where he is genuinely ready to die. By the next morning I had lost all fear of death, and I resolved to die (Martel, 241). He clearly does not die after that but proceeds to live on after he encounters another cast away. Another topic that the song touches on is the harshness of reality. It s a murder fact, reality kills . In Life of Pi, the readers can never be certain of what is the truth and what is completely fabricated. At the end of the novel Pi asks Which is the better story, the story with the animals or the story without the animals (Martel, 317). It can be assumed that Pi created this false story as a coping mechanism to deal with the horrific things that happened while he was out at sea. Going back to Epik High s song, reality can sometimes be too harsh for people to handle but it s something that we do end up having to accept. In the line Call your doctor now for your reality pill the doctor giving you your reality pills could be a metaphor for society and how society will always bring you back into

How Did Lenin Succeed In Coming To Power Central Idea: It is my position that Lenin succeeded in his goal of revolutionizing Russia and coming to power because he managed to win the favor of the masses, Lenin also staged the Red October revolution, and he logically maintained power until his death. Supporting Idea 1: The folly of the provisional government led by the untrusted Alexander Kerensky caused the people of Russia to move towards the various revolutionary groups. Bolsheviks gained large amounts of support from the military for their movement to end the war, which was a long time request of the people declined by the provisional government. The Bolshevik effort was bolstered even further with the failure of Kornilov s coup, which weakened the government even more; this caused
  • 14. Zavestoki, Shulman, And Schlosberg s The Unknown Citizen The main idea in the short story, The Unknown Citizen, is about an overly controlling government that regulates every aspect of a citizen s lives. Each of the branches of this government declared this unknown man was a hard worker, nice, and served the greater community because he was part of a whole and had lost his individuality. Much as in The Unknown Citizen, society is leaning towards a too strong government. The main ideas of this poem reflect a very real society that is filled with complacent and controlled citizens through the world of the internet. This even extends to colleges are analyzing all kinds of student data to figure out who needs extra support and when advisers and faculty should intervene. But as technology advances, and students offline and online lives become more intertwined, data analytics may raise more ethical questions (Quinton). Though it appears that all of the citizens were mindlessly following this Greater Community, the narrator of this poem was trying to show how everyone was not following orders and was not part of the system. The narrator was trying to show the people who saw this statue that accepting what the government does is not always the course to follow. The bureaucrat who wrote about the unknown citizen wanted people to question and not to bow to those little changes which really won t affect our programs we are in effect giving to Big Brother and going in the way of 1984
  • 15. Analysis Of October Skies And Queen Of Katwe Throughout history, people have risen who have influenced modern day society. Their inventions or strong characters have marked them as important historical figures. Many are still remembered today, due to the inspiration they have passed on, and many of these have also had movies published telling their story. Movies such as October Skies and Queen of Katwe tell stories of two separate beings, who have had a great impact in modern days. Although Homer Hickamand Phiona Mutesi struggle to find their paths to success due to their circumstances and background, Phiona Mutesi story possesses a more accessible storyline because of its emphasis on international figures rather than national. The movies October Skies and Queen of Katwe both hold two separate main characters, each which is struggling in life in their own way and just wants to change their life. For Homer Hickam, in October Skies, his dream is to do something with his life that does not include mining for coal. His desire in life is to get away from his hometown by building a rocket and hopefully getting a scholarship into college. On the other hand, there is Phiona Mutesi, in Queen of Katwe, whose desire is to escape her life of poverty and have her family live a better life. The way she goes about it is by entering a chess competition, which if she wins she will get a reward that will help her build a better life. Both Homer and Phiona have the same dream, to escape. They have the desire to be something better, and

According to Google, the definition frontier is the extreme limit of understanding or achievement in a particular area. The sudden move to the west was originally caused by gold being found. Settlers would pack up everything and move to the west to get rich. Instead, they found wild cattle, copper, silver, and probably most important, Indians. Because of the lack of law and government control out in the west, lots of criminals would go out there to escape the law. One example being Billy the kid. However, many of these criminals became legends, law men, and ranchers. In Tombstone they found silver and people came flocking to get a claim. In Bisbee, they

My friends and I were enjoying another day of Ramadan inside our local mosque, when my mom came in and told us that the food had run out. Many of my friends began to leave, but I took this as an opportunity to create an adventure of serving 100 people. Why go our separate ways when we could all get together and make a simple meal? We quickly purchased the noodles and headed back to the mosque. Pulling into the parking lot was horrific. Protesters swarmed the area, shoving signs in our faces and throwing slurs and insults toward a community who had done nothing wrong. At first, I was furious. I knew of the islamophobia

Amendments thirteen, fourteen, and fifteen have been ratified. Amendment thirteen ended slavery. Amendment fourteen gave African Americans, American citizenship and civil rights. The fifteenth amendment made it illegal to deny someone the right to vote based on race. (The DBQ Project 505). Reconstruction started in 1866 through 1909. CONFIDENT ASSERTION There is first the confident assertion of the Chairman and Managing Director of Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Mr R. S. Butola, that the impact of higher crude prices need not always be severe, and can, in fact, be circumvented by means of some ingenious countervailing measures. The IOC seems to have achieved this by carrying out crash modernisation and upgradation of plants and shifting the dominant part of its business plan to petrochemicals. For instance, by using modern processes, IOC has been able to convert many black products into high value fuel such as LPG and petrol, significantly raising the company s distillate yield from 71.5 per cent in 2004 05 to 75.4 per cent in 2010 11, and thereby extracting more high value products from every barrel of crude. Applying machine learning techniques to these datasets need special consideration, since the hyperspectral images are typically represented by features vectors of extremely high dimensions. A robust HSI classification requires a prudent combination of deep feature extractor and powerful classifier. Keywords: High dimensionality, Hyperspectral image, classification, deep learning, feature extraction, Introduction In the last decade, hyperspectral image (HSI) classification has been a very active research discipline. Hyperspectral image contains ultra high dimensional data with hundreds spectral channels, which leads to highly correlated features and the noises that presented in adjacent bands. However, the classification results are affected by these redundant and correlated features. Therefore, in processing hyperspectral images, the classification approaches has been proposed jointly by dimensionality reduction. Several feature extraction methods (see Section 2) have been developed to solve the classification problem in hyperspectral images. Feature extraction based on HSI aims to reduce the dimensionality of the data while preserving the discriminative information (spectral spatial information) as possible. However, there is no universal feature extraction which perform well in all type of application and thus, it remain an active research area in advancing HSI analysis for the foreseeable future. Moreover the complexity, diversity, dimensionality and quantity of HSI are all increasing day by day and thus, the existing learning tasks are computationally inapplicable and incompetent for analyzing and modeling the HSI data [9]. There are several challenges in the hyperspectral data classification: (1) ultra high dimensionality of data, (2) limited

In response to your questions we have reviewed NFPA 14, 2013 edition that you indicated as the applicable standard and the IFC, 2012 edition as the applicable code. Our informal interpretation is that at least one standpipe shall be provided for use during construction. The number of usable stairways will determine the number of temporary standpipes. There are two approaches to providing temporary standpipes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Confusion can occur in the application of these requirements since Section 905 refers to Section 3313 and then Section 3313 refers back to Section 905. Thus differing interpretations can happen for the temporary standpipe service. Construction sites that have only have one stair access for each floor cannot meet Section 905 of the IFC can be applied as practically allowed during construction. The IFC provides guidance regarding these situations in 3313.1. Where required to have standpipes by Section 905.3.1, not less than one standpipe shall be provided for use during construction. Such standpipes shall be installed prior to construction exceeding 40 feet in height above the lowest level of fire department vehicle access. Such standpipe shall be provided with fire department hose connections at accessible locations adjacent to usable stairways. Such standpipes shall be extended as construction progresses to within one floor of the highest point of construction having secured decking or flooring. If there is only one stair access to the floor, then only one standpipe can be provided. If there are two or more usable stairways, then additional standpipes are provided. When a standpipe is installed, the base

This movie has everything you want to keep you awake in the movie theater, one specific feature I want to focus the attention on is in the sound element s of the movie. During the entirety of the movie there is incredible techniques used to enhance the movie such as sound effects, narration and the theme music. All of these techniques come together to portray a young man in high school trying to live a normal life when out of the blue he has these giant robots from another planet trying to find his grandfathers glasses that were imprinted... Even the robot mechanical movements and sounds are altered to show a dark scary creature about to be shown. One of the first Decepticons shown is unidentified, and the air force base is trying to contact them and tell the Decepticon to identify itself or it would be shot down, after trying still nothing is said. They fly the helicopter in and tell it to power down and get out, but what they don t know is that the pilot is just a hologram and the Decepticon transforms and begins to attack the base. Erikson states that these stages are necessary in the progression and development of human growth from infancy into adulthood. Each developmental stage presents a crisis that must be resolved during that stage for a healthy development. Erik Erikson s psychosocial theory outlines that we develop in psychosocial stages instead of psychosexual ones. I agree with Erikson because one might not get through the entire crisis within the stages which causes one not understanding themselves and their identity , the eight stages are a great way to explain the developmental stages that occurs throughout our life span. This famous show composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber is the second longest running musical on Broadway, and it is based on T. S. Eliot s conglomeration of poems, Old Possum s Book of Practical Cats. Each musical number is the story of a different cat. Since it is based on an assortment of rhymes, Cats doesn t have a single obvious lead role but instead relies heavily upon ensemble singing and large group dance numbers. There was very little spoken dialogue, but the storyline was beautifully communicated nevertheless. The story begins with many felines coming onstage and singing about the tribe of the Jellicle cats. The kitties of this group meet annually so that Old Deuteronomy can determine which cat will soar off to Heaviside Layer and return to a new life. These legal ramifications should be extended to people in authority who use information from the internet to get to their subordinates. The internet has radically changed the way we get and disseminate information. The internet is a place to express free speech and just be yourself, but this has many times come back to hunt users in a negative way. This paper will be looking at how schools, workplaces, and even other users misuse the idea of free speech on the internet and why we need to filter hate speech and introduce legal ramifications for these actions. Some schools have used their authorities to discipline students and teachers over things they posted on the internet from the privacy of their homes and on their private time. In America, students are not supposed to lose their constitutional rights at the schoolhouse gate. The protection of students rights to free speech and privacy in and out of school is essential for ensuring that schools provide both valuable education and training in our democratic values. Unfortunately, schools continue to demonstrate a troubling willingness to cut back on students rights. In recent years, educators have repeatedly disciplined students for speech critical of teachers and administrators. An example will be the case of sixth grader in Minnesota who posted on her Facebook
