Essay On Tradition
Crafting an essay on the topic of tradition can be a challenging endeavor, as it requires
navigating through a complex tapestry of cultural norms, historical practices, and personal
interpretations. The difficulty lies not only in presenting a comprehensive understanding of the
concept but also in capturing its nuanced essence. Tradition is a multifaceted subject that
transcends time and space, demanding a delicate balance between respect for the past and an
awareness of evolving perspectives.
One of the challenges is the vast scope of traditions that span across different societies, each
with its unique customs and rituals. Attempting to cover this breadth while delving into the
depth of individual traditions can be an intricate task. Striking the right balance between
providing a general overview and delving into specific examples without oversimplifying or
overwhelming the reader is an art that demands careful consideration.
Moreover, the interpretation of tradition varies from person to person, and cultural context plays
a pivotal role in shaping perspectives. Balancing the subjective and objective aspects of the essay
is essential to avoid falling into the trap of bias or ethnocentrism. It necessitates an in-depth
exploration of differing viewpoints and an acknowledgment of the dynamism inherent in
traditions.
Additionally, navigating the fine line between celebrating the value of tradition and critically
examining its potential drawbacks poses a unique challenge. The essay must avoid romanticizing
the past while acknowledging the importance of preserving cultural heritage. Struggling with
this delicate equilibrium requires a nuanced approach that combines empathy with analytical
rigor.
Furthermore, constructing a coherent narrative that seamlessly connects the historical roots of
traditions with their contemporary relevance is no small feat. The essay must weave a cohesive
storyline that guides the reader through the evolution of traditions, emphasizing their adaptive
nature without losing sight of their foundational principles.
In conclusion, tackling an essay on the topic of tradition demands a thoughtful and nuanced
approach. The writer must navigate the complexities of cultural diversity, individual perspectives,
and the evolving nature of traditions while maintaining a delicate balance between celebration
and critique. Successfully capturing the essence of tradition in all its facets requires not only
thorough research but also a keen understanding of the intricacies involved.

Essay about Benefits of Medical Abbreviations
Benefits of Medical Abbreviations There are many benefits of medical
abbreviations. One benefit of medical abbreviations is how much easier it makes it
to read a chart. This speeds up the process by knowing the abbreviations and the
use of them. It is nice to simplify things by using medical abbreviations when it is a
busy day. The other reason to use medical abbreviations is so that only the medical
personnel will know what is being described. It is a very efficient way of
maintaining a patient s privacy. Everybody does not need to know a patient s
medical history or what is going on with a patient or resident and allows their privacy
to be protected.
Limitations of Medical Abbreviations There are often more than one meaning for an

were a few abbreviation mistakes that I noticed. There were no ICD 9 CM codes
on the admission summary sheet. These codes are used for billing and the absence
of these codes would cause her provider not to approve of her billing. The second
mistake noticed was that all diagnosis were principle diagnosis and no secondary
diagnosis. Which was the main reason for admitting Jane Dare, Congestive Heart

secondary diagnosis with a primary. Another mistake noticed is the kind of
antibiotic used when Jane was pit on an IV. Was there sulfa in it, considering Jane
is allergic? Why was a blood culture not collected? If Jane was not able to sleep in
her room because it is too hot or cold and the staff has found her sleeping on the

that Jane needs the assistance of 1 to ambulate, however, the next statement reads

Real patriotism is a willingness to challenge the government when it s wrong, (Paul,

direct figures in the political world. While many leftist members have called Ron
Paul an extremist and have sometimes many political discrepancies, even with
Republican peers at some times, I believe its clear that Ron Paul has shown and still
shows political courage because Paul is very open about his unchanging Libertarian

Was the war against Iraq necessary for America to protect itself? Ron Paul answers
no, it was not necessary and could have avoided 4,425 deaths and 32,223 wounded

casualties vary anywhere from 100,000 to upwards of 1 million total deaths as far
as scientific surveys go (Casualties of Iraq war, Wikipedia.com). While this was
one of the least casualty stricken wars in American history, the economic spending
on this war was an amount some would call insanity. The base total cost America

the Kush Kingdom, a predominant power in Africa between the 8th century BCE
and the fourth century CE. The Archaeological Sites of the Island of Meroe contain
some of the best preserved artifacts from the Kingdom of Kush. These include
pyramids, temples and palaces. Meroe was also a religious center. It is important to
preserve the history of Meroe because of the influence the Kush Kingdom had over

Don t Be Willing For Pay The Price
Don t be afraid to be willing to go after what you want to do, and what you want to
be. But don t be afraid to be willing to pay the price. Lane Clyde Frost was born on
July 13, 1956 in LaJunta, Colorado to Clyde and Elsie Frost. Lane was named after
his father and was the middle child. He had an older sister, Robin, and a younger
brother, Cody. Lane grew up working on the dairy farm that his parents owned. His
father Clyde was a bull rider and took the game very serious. He missed the birth of
his second child because he was away on the rodeocircuit making money as a saddle
bronc and bareback rider. Clyde also competed in five National Finals Rodeos.
Lane became very interested in rodeo as a young boy. His mother even made him
his first pair of chaps, she remembers saying that she hoped he would outgrow this
rodeo thing. However, as Lane got older his love for rodeo only grew. When Lane
was in junior high he excelled in wrestling. Weighing only 75 pounds Lane won 45
matches, lost four, and had two ties. Even though he was very good at wrestling
his heart was still in the rodeo ( Official Lane Frost Site ). On January 5, 1985,
Lane married Kellie Kyle at the United Methodist Church in Quanah, Texas. Lane
and Kellie met in 1980 at the National High School Rodeo Finals, this is also where
he met his long time best friend, Tuff Hedeman (Ebert). Many know of Lane from
the movie 8 Seconds, however what they are not aware of, is the kind of guy Lane

Symbols In A Worn Path
Symbolism of the Literature You are about to be taken on a journey as I tell of two
short stories, A Worn Path and I Used to Live Here Once . One story will keep you
in suspense wondering about this little old ladies purpose of walking a dark path,
while the other story seems to be taking the character back in time to find she is
only having an after death experience. As you read of the two stories, you will find
they are similar in the fact that both have a symbolism of death. The short storyA

time. I could tell him from all others in creation (AN Q). After getting the medicine
from the nurse, she speaks briefly of a paper windmill for her grandson. The story
ends with her going down the stairs. Phoenix taps the floor with her cane before
going down the steps just as she did in the beginning of the story when she taps the
frozen ground with her cane. Her desperate need for companionship is
demonstrated when she has a vision of a boy offering her a piece of cake on a

imagination of her grandson still existing is her way of coping with the hardness of
her life. We find at the end, the journey may have been more of a necessity for
Phoenix than for her grandson. She made this journey to meet her own needs, and

The Long Term Dispute Over Which Is Better, East Coast
Vs....
The long term dispute over which is better, east coast vs. west coast, will
undoubtedly continue until this country no longer exists. While both coasts offer
travelers and natives a variety of places to eat, things to do, and places to see,
California, North Carolina, and South Carolina want to put their states on the map
with their interesting history and ways of living. Due to so much variety on each
coast, there is something on each side for everyone. More often than not, people
picture California and the Carolinas to be polar opposites. This way of thinking
comes from the idea that Hollywood, the city of dreams, consumes California
entirely. Consequently, travelers must dig deep to find the hidden gems throughout
each state. There will always be more than what meets the eye.
There are hundreds of military bases throughout the United States of America.
California and the Carolinas contribute to that statistic. Home to almost 30 different
bases, California boasts the most commonly known Marine Corps Air Station
Miramar, Camp Pendleton, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, and the Naval
Amphibious Base Coronado, home to the Navy SEALS. One of the very prevalent
military communities within California is San Diego. There is an overwhelming
sense of pride in the Armed Forces around every corner in what is a relatively large
city. North and South Carolina are very familiar with that same sense of pride.

HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVES OF THE TREATMENT OF CARDIAC
ARRHYTHMIA
INTRODUCTION:
The contraction and relaxation of the heart is represented in the form of electrical
signals in electrocardiogram. Normally the depolarisation of SA node present in the
right atrium of the heart is helpful in determining the heart rate of a person. SA node
i.e. the sino atrial node is called the natural pacemaker of the heart. The electrical
signal produced by the SA node starts the first beat, it causes the atria to contract and
then these signals arrive AV node which allows ventricles to contract causing the
blood to flow throughout the body. The normal rate at which heart beats is 60 to 100
beats per minute. Any changes in this rhythm cause cardiac ... Show more content on

Tilt Table Test: The heart rate and blood pressure is measured while lying on the table
and then the table is tilted and doctor monitors the heart activity.
Electrophysiological testing and mapping: Electrodes are placed in the heart and
mapping of the electrical signals within the heart is done. (Scott C. Litin, October 6
2009)
TREATMENT:
For bradycardia generally an artificial pacemaker is used which implanted near your
heart so when the heart slows down or stops pacemaker generates impulses in order to
stimulate the heart.
For tachycardia generally a pacemaker is used which emits impulses for the normal
functioning of the heart. In this condition implantable cardioverter defibrillator is
also used.
It is recommended only when the patient is at high risk. When there occurs sudden
cardiac arrest then this implantable device sends low or high impulses to reset the
heart so as to beat in normal rhythm. Many surgical procedures like maze procedure
in which doctors make an incision in the cardiac tissues and thus they does not
conduct electricity and which results in lowering down of the heart rate, another
surgical procedure involved is cardiac bypass surgery, this is performed when there
are many other coronary artery problems other than arrhythmia. Minor tachycardia
can also be controlled by medication. (Scott C. Litin,

Organizational objectives contribute to creating a motivating work setting because
they provide employees with a sense of meaning and purpose and help employees
understand the goals they should be striving for (George and Jones, 2005). Mary Kay
Cosmetics wants to be the top sellers in their industry, but they also want to promote
a customer centered culture that strives for total customer satisfaction (Incentive,
1991), but their current incentive program doesn t provide rewards for beauty
consultants with high levels of customer satisfaction. Just because a VIP is a great
seller and has the ability to recruit, doesn t automatically mean that she has the most
satisfied customers of all her team members. Reward systems, such as Mary Kay s
motivate employees to do well in the areas of their jobs that are measured by the
performance evaluation system. The problem is that rewards systems do not always
measure all the behaviors that the individual need perform for the organization to
ultimately be successful (Lawler, 1994). The management is concerned that they are
not getting as much as they could from all VIP consultants above the level of sales
and recruiting needed to maintain use of their cars and that the VIP car program in
general is costing them more than its worth. According to the Schedule of
Nonfinancial Incentives for Mary Kay Consultants, there are currently four titles or

The Age Of Innocence Quote Analysis
Societal norms and expectations are being reexamined more now than they ever
have before; questions that many would never have dared to say (and some would
not know to think about) are being debated and considered. Society still influences a
major part of daily life, but it used to have almost complete control over others
actions and views. In Edith Wharton s The Age of Innocence, a restrictive society
works to maintain the same traditions, and put its next generation into the exact roles
as those who came before them. In the following passage, Archer is having a
conversation with Winsett, an outsider of the New York society, who points out a
fault of the people of New York and their monotonous ways.
Winsett points out that the potential of America, and specifically of New York, is
dying out because no one is working on it, or trying to improve it. Archer reflects
about the expectations of a gentleman, that they should only stay at their home and
restrain themselves. However, without work, without innovation, without going
right down in the muck, nothing would grow or stay in stasis it would die out,
slowly. The society Newland Archer is part of is almost his entire world, yet it is
just a pitiful little minority without guidance, or anyone on the outside that cares
what they do. His New York is not a place of blending backgrounds, lives, patterns,
views it is just a smaller box as monotonously planned as atoms (103). Archer s
society is not only in stasis,
Comparing Satire in Canterbury Tales, Pride and
Prejudice...
Use of Satire in Canterbury Tales, Pride and Prejudice and The Rape of the Lock
Jane Austen and Alexander Pope had had a myriad of writing styles and techniques
from which to express the desired themes of their works. Satire, however, seemed to
be the effective light hearted, yet condescending, tool that enabled them to surface the
faults and follies of their moral and elite society. In Chaucer s Canterbury Tales, satire
is used to the full extent in revealing the glutton within a pious and sacrificing nun,
the vain hunter within a poor and meditative monk, and the vulgarity within a
honorable woman of society. In Pride and Prejudice and The Rape of the Lock,
Austen and Pope use contrasting forms of satire to obtain the ... Show more content

She believes in speaking her mind, exercising her wit with books, and falling in
love with a man s character and soul rather than his yearly income. Elizabeth s
character is essential to the satirical purpose of the novel because it clashes loudly
with the vanities that society holds so dearly, and forces society to see how it
blindly debases itself by believing in the importance of appearance and status rather
than self importance and individuality. Austen further mocks society through Mary,
Elizabeth s younger sister. Mary conspicuously tries to defy the standard rules of
proper ladies in society by refusing to dance at the balls, reading books in public,
and using a verbose vocabulary to create the illusion that she is a well
accomplished woman. However, these actions only make her motives of being an
individual to receive praise from society more obvious, adding another element of
character satire to the novel. Pope s The Rape of the Lock is a mock epic that uses
hyperboles to fill an otherwise absurd and unimportant situation with pompous
splendor; therefore, with the additional extravagancies, the situation becomes even
more trivial. For example, in Pope s poem a lord cuts a lock of hair from the head
of a lovely maiden. The actual occurrence of such a trivial matter in Pope s society
had caused great alarm, influencing him to light heartedly ridicule the people
involved in the situation by creating a
Total Fixed Costs
The product my business has chose to produce is water bottles. After some
research it can be said that the typical production cost of one water bottle unit is
$20. Total fixed costs for my company including rent and utilities are $4000 per
month. Given these numbers a linear cost function for my product can be
constructed; C(x) = 20x + 4000. In this equation x represents water bottles produced
each month at a price of $20 along with $4000 of total fixed costs. An estimated total
cost per month can then be determined of $120,000 looking at what the company
can afford. Using the cost function C(x), we can plug in 120,000 to then determine
the number of water bottles produced each month, which will be x. The beginning
equation is C(120000) = 20x + 4000, begin by subtracting 4000 from each side
leaving us with 116000 = 20x then divide both sides of the equation by 20 to get a
final answer of x = 5800. This is the number of bottles produced each month. Given
the price demand... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
To solve the equation, you plug 3000 in for x and get p(price) = 120. Yes, the unit
price of $120 may seem high but because production decreased by almost half and
we kept revenue the same the increase in unit price was justified. A function for the
elasticity of demand would have to follow the equation E(p) = pf (p)/f(p). The
predetermined function for f(p) = 12000 75p and taking the derivative f (p) = 75,
these can be plugged into the elasticity demand function to get E(p) = 75p/12000
75p. Using the unit price of $120 for p elasticity of demand comes out to be 3.
Since 3 is greater than 1 the unit elasticity at this price is elastic. Based on this
finding increasing this price would make revenue less productive and so we should
keep the price of the water bottles lower to be able to produce more; however, it
would make sense to increase

Essay on Controversial Supreme Court Case Roper V.
Simmons
The Death Penalty is a controversial topic on its own. However, if you add the
possibility of a minor receiving the death penalty it gets even more interesting. The
Supreme Court case of Roper v. Simmons was a perfect example of that. Roper v.
Simmons presented the Supreme Court with two questions: 1) whether or not the
execution of those who were sixteen or seventeen at the time of a crime is cruel and
unusual punished and 2) does is violate the Eighth and Fourteenth Amendment. The
main audience for this particular case is the general American population, and
specifically affects the juvenile population.

KENTUCKY, 492 U.S. 361 1989) The Court later ruled in Atkins v. Virginia (2002)
that, mentally retarded persons were exempt from the death penalty as well, a further
sign of society s changing standards. (ATKINS v. VIRGINIA, 536 U.S. 320 2002)
The decision in Atkins explained that due to their impairments, it is highly unlikely
that such offenders could ever deserve capital punishment. (ATKINS v. VIRGINIA,
536 U.S. 320 2002) The reasoning in Atkins is applied to the Simmons decision.
Kennedy argues that because individuals under 18 are categorically less culpable than
the average criminal, they should not deserve the death penalty. Kennedy adds that
there are three differences between juveniles under 18 and adult offenders. First,
juveniles often lack the maturity found in adults, a trait that is understandable among
the young and adolescents are overrepresented statistically in virtually every
category of reckless behavior. (ROPER v. SIMMONS, (03 633) 543 U.S. 551 2005)
The second difference is, that they are more vulnerable to negative influences or
outside pressures and this could lead to deviant behavior. (ROPER v. SIMMONS,
(03 633) 543 U.S. 551 2005) Lastly, Kennedy asserts that the character of a juvenile
is not as well formed as an adult and that personality traits in adolescents are
transitory. (ROPER v. SIMMONS, (03 633) 543 U.S. 551 2005) Moreover, because
of the comparative immaturity and irresponsibility of

I find resonance in the words of Nikola Tesla, If you want to find the secrets of the
universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration . Change is what
defined my childhood. My father is with the Indian Army and we moved to a new
city every two years. In India, where language, food and culture change every
hundred miles, I completed my education in several schools and under diverse
settings. My curiosity to work in situations where nobody knows anything , and
build up everything from scratch led me to pursue Engineering. Since automation,
digitization and convergence of technology are today central to all streams of
engineering, I decided to opt for Electronics and Communications Engineering for
under graduation. This stream enabled me to apply my knowledge to build
different applications in any field, and the courses served in refining my
understanding about the subject making me keenly appreciative of the subtleties in
this field. In college, inspired by technology and motivated by social implications, I
teamed up with couple of classmates on a project for quadriplegic paralysis patients
who are unable to use their limbs and are completely dependent for their mobility.
The device was able to detect precise head movement and transmit the signal to the

Pretty How Town
For this week s journal I chose Anyone Lived in a Pretty How Town by E. E.
Cummings. It is quite interesting poem with simple words that can be easily
understood by readers. The meaning of the poem is that it describes the simple
/ordinary life cycle of human beings. All people grow up, work, get married and
then die. For example, someones married their everyones laughed their crying and
did their dance (line 17 18) and One day anyone died I guess (line 25). It also
shows the modern life, that everyone is busy in their life and doesn t really care
about others in their surroundings. As it stated, women and men (both little and
small) cared for anyone not at all (line 5 6). It also shows the common and simple
people, whose identity is not very important.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In the poem, Cummings used a simple and weird names such as anyone , noone ,
and how town maybe to represent a specific era or small town. The fifth element is
personification which is a thing, an animal, or an abstract term is made human
(p.455). In the poem stars, rain, sun and moon are used to show human s
condition. Also bell is used to show all humans. For example, women and men
(both dong and ding) (line, 33). I think the way Cummings placed all the words in
order, he represented a good story. As a reader I was enjoying and had a feeling
that I m reading a story. This sequence of words and step by step definition made it
easily for me to understand better the whole meaning behind the poem. For
example at first he started by giving an idea about people s ordinary life that no
one cares for each other anymore. Then it slowly goes to each step and phase of
life and states how life is going to end. The poetic elements that have been used are
also simple and clear that can be easily grasped. Therefore, it really helped me to
imagine the whole poem, and interpret it

Essay On Cultural Capital
People Like Us The Bay Area is one of the most financially exhaustive places to call
home in this nation, thus it is no surprise to say that even a comfortable living in
cities such as Berkeley or San Francisco places one relatively high on the annual
income scale. The city of Berkeley, my hometown, is an amonole: distinct from other
conventionally affluent cities across the country such as Irvine. Berkeley has always
been baked with a splendor of various cultures showcased through the multitude of
ethnicities, advanced tastes in art and music, along with an unapologetic
exemplification of the sense of self whether it may be through clothing, sexual
orientation, conduct, etcetera. With this and Bourdieu s ideas on habitus the... Show

Thus shaped my specific habitus; a reflection of the comfortably affluent and
culturally superfluous environment. This allowed me and my circle of friends to
express our tastes and partake in activities that we genuinely enjoyed: weekends at
the SFMOMA, brunching at La Note, watching ballets at the Opera House and so
on. All of these interests, in order to truly enjoy, requires a level of cultural capital
but it also demands economic capital. But habitus shapes more than just weekend
interests. We all received good grades, which then paved way to a four year
university. Our tastes in clothing were mostly identical. Even our tastes in boys
aligned. But a humorous indicator of our shared habitus is that we are all
obsessively thin. If I didn t have money or if I had spent my childhood in Oklahoma,
my tastes, looks, opinions would differ drastically. Thus habitus trains people in my
social class and those in others, to know when someone just is or isn t. And in my
hometown, it s culture.
In Berkeley, cultural capital is an indicator of social class; however, modern times
have created a new symbolic struggle ... one that works in reverse. Symbolic
struggle is the fight for social dominance. It is a game reflective of the higher class
opinions; the middle class attempts to join in, acknowledging the standards set by
those above them as best , while the lowest class pushes back through affirming their
own identity. Currently there is an

The introduction and initial contact when really well. The client as well as I were

were a little rough but once I understood where she was trying to go with her
situation it was fine. I ask the client if I could record her so that I could make sure I
do not miss anything for the assignment and she allowed me to record the session.
This was very helpful because the session was very informative, so with that much
information I probably wouldn t have been able to retain everything. My level of
empathywas very high. I actually related to her situation when it comes to a father
leaving the family and there s very little that you can do. Knowing that I understood
her struggles and feelings, I immediately told myself to be strictly professional and
not to get emotional as well.
There was an over use of probing questions and not enough empathic responses. I
think this goes back to me trying not to get emotional as well while discussing similar
issues.

The Rise of Irish Nationalism in the Nineteenth Century
Essay
Discuss the significance of the political developments within revolutionary and
constitutional Irish nationalism from the period 1798 to 1867
Word count 1592
The nineteenth century was a revolutionary and constitutional period in Irelands
history, that somewhat shaped the Ireland that we live in today. This essay will
explore the political developments, within revolutionary and constitutional Irish
nationalism in the period 1798 to 1867.
The late eighteenth century marked the beginning of what was to map Ireland s
future through the nineteenth century and to the present day. Ireland at this time was
a deeply divided society. Catholic s and Presbyterians made up eighty five percent of
the population, yet they had no power what so ... Show more content on

Ulster Protestants now came to regard the union as the essential basis for their
prosperity. (Beckett 1981).
The first threat of nationalism after the union came in the form of an uprising by
Robert Emmet. Emmet had a poorly armed army and almost certainly knew that
chances of success were faint. But his rebellion was not about success. It was to
remind everyone that 1798 was not forgotten and he wanted to spur on the rebels in
their quest against the British. Emmet was evidently captured and sentenced to death.
He did however have one small victory in his final speech. He requested that no man
write his epitaph until his county be free . This speech had long lasting historical
value, motivating republicans and nationalist movements from then to the present day.
Daniel O Connell became a great political influence in Ireland during the 1820 s. He
had a significant effect on the political landscape in fighting for the rights of
Catholics. He brought the grievances of Catholic s to the forefront of constitutional
Irish nationalism. The creation of Catholic rent and linking politics with religion
made great strides in his campaign for Catholic Emancipation. O Connell had always
said that emancipation was only the first stage in his programme and that repeal of
the union was his ultimate goal. He didn t believe in the rebellions that went before
him. He always felt it was best to assert themselves politically rather than use

Wireless communication helps businesses more easily stay in touch with customers,
suppliers, and employees and provides more flexible arrangements for organizing
work. Wireless technology has also created new products, services, and sales
channels. If one requires mobile communication and computing power or remote
access to corporate systems, you can work with an array of wireless devices: cell
phones, personal digital assistants (PDAs), and smart phones. Personal computers are
also starting to be used in wireless transmission. Mobile laptop computers equipped
with wireless network interface cards link to the wired LAN by communicating with
the access point. The access point uses radio waves to transmit network signals from
the wired network to the client adapters, which convert them into data that the mobile
device can understand. The client adapter then transmits the data from the mobile
device back to the access point, which forwards the data to the wired network. In

organs then buried. If you were a part of the royal family you were put in a tomb or

achievements were the Egyptian pyramids, and the sphinx. Another achievement was
their use of hieroglyphics, which is a form of writing based on pictograms. Examples
of hieroglyphic writing can be found on the Rosetta stone which was uncovered by
archeologists. The Egyptians also used mummification which was an achievement in
preserving bodies. Over time there were ten different pharaohs and each of them

Final Case 2 Intel Memo Essay
1. What are the lessons useful for their future microprocessor business that you think
Intel should have taken away from their experience in the DRAM industry?
Continuous innovation: As a technology company and from the experience of
DRAM, it is necessary to continuously innovate to uphold the leadership position in
the industry. Intel was left behind after 1103 DRAM in innovation.
Multiple approaches: It is necessary to take the multiple pronged approaches
especially in the uncertainty of the technology business. In DRAM, Intel deployed
three different process technologies Goldilocks strategy and decided whatever
technology came to fruition would be mass produced. This is effectively hedging the

How and why did Intel s added value change over time? What would you identify as
the crucial events, decisions, or moments in that transformation?
From pioneering in memory DRAM semicon to exiting the low margin DRAM
market Intel was primarily a Memory semicon manufacturer before it entered
microprocessors in 1980s. Its added value in the memory industry in 1970s was
very high because of its advances in MOS process to produce DRAM. However,
with increase in competition and the advancement of Japanese conglomerates in the
memory industry Intel was forced to play a chasing game to improve performance
and reduce costs. In the mid 1980s, Intel s market share in the core memory business
was 1%, however it was continuing to invest in this domain. They finally exited the
DRAM market, which was more of a cash burner with low margins.
Led the PC microprocessor market and ousted competition through sole licensor
decision: Post losing a contract to supply microprocessors to Apple, in early 1980s,
Intel won a contract to provide the same to IBM for its PCs. IBM PCs were a huge
success and catapulted Intel to gain market leadership. IBM initially forced Intel to

Vaccinations Should Not Be A Medical Exemption From...
Vaccinations: The Right to Choose Is requiring vaccinations overstepping the
bounds of our right to make our own medical choices for ourselves as well as for
our children? Or, is it safe and necessary for the greater good to prevent deadly
diseases? Are those who choose not to vaccinate themselves or their children
putting the rest of the population at risk? Where should the line, if any, be drawn?
Why are more and more people using exemptions to vaccinations? How safe and
effective are vaccinations? I will share important information on both sides of the
issue to help you decide the answers to these questions. Currently, all fifty U.S.
states offer a medical exemption from vaccinations. This means that someone could
be exempt from receiving one or all of the vaccines based on medical necessity. For
example, those who have compromised or weakened immune systems should be able
to get a medical exemption. These exemptions require permission from a medical
physician and getting them is difficult as most doctors in the mainstream medical
community support and encourage vaccinations. There are two other types of
exemptions religious and philosophical. As of October 2016, three states California,
West Virginia, and Mississippi do not offer either of these. They are medical
exemption states only. Of the remaining states, 32 of them offer medical and religious
exemptions. Only the remaining 18 states offer all three exemptions. These numbers

Deontology in Jim and the Indians
Jim has found himself in a quandary. When arriving in a South American town he
has happened upon a captain and his army about to assassinate twenty Indians in
order to deter other Indians protesting against the government. Jim is treated as a
guest to the town and offered the privilege of shooting one of the Indians in which
case the captain will let the other nineteen go, however declining this offer will mean
the captain will carry on as planned and killall twenty.
Consequentialism is ordinarily distinct from deontology, as deontology offers
rightness or wrongness of an act, rather than the outcome of the action. In this essay
we are going to explore the differences of consequentialism and deontology and apply
them to the quandary ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Likewise in the Jim and the Indians case, we could only act on our own good will
and not kill anyone in the hope that the good will would prevail in the captain and
his men. Deontologists would be of the opinion that something s we are not
expected to do, to perceive ourselves as moral agents. However opponents of the
deontological view, such as Nancy Davies (1993), would argue that this is just
keeping ones hands clean . Davies goes on to argue that, Deontologists ... not only
assign more weight to our own avoidance of wrongdoing where wrongdoing is
understood as violating the rule than to the interests of others, they also require that
we assign more weight to our own avoidance of wrongdoing than we do to the
avoidance of wrongdoing tout court, or the prevention of wrongdoing of others
(1993, p. 207).
However according to the rule based view of deontology, the taking of a life is
wrong and two wrongs don t make a right. To kill as of to save others lives is not an
option as the act of killing is being promoted. It can be perceived that the captain, in
his own wisdom, is of the opinion that his killing of the twenty Indians is justified.
According to consequentialism, the right or wrong thing to do depends on what
would lead to the best outcome; so each act is either morally required or morally
forbidden. We can presume so that a consequentialist who finds himself in the
situation of Jim

Patton and Montgomery were nearly uncontrollable and self aggrandizing. But
both were brilliant in the field. Eisenhower had to find a way to win their
cooperation in spite of the fact that neither would be allowed to run the overall
operation as they wanted. Patton was given an almost insulting yet critical role of
being the diversion that kept Hitler s eyes off the western beaches. (Later, he
would be given control of US ground troops, a role he coveted almost as much as
Montgomery s role.) Montgomery s constant, vocal advocation of a spear thrust
through France to Berlin had to be sidelined in order to prevent the Allies from
making the same mistake in Europe that Hitler was making in Russia, i.e. extending
the troops too far away from their support troops and supply lines. Managing these
egos was a monumental task, and there weren t many who could manage it as adeptly
as Eisenhower did.
Do you think the decision to have a Supreme Allied Commander was the right
managerial structure since it was a highly centralized command structure or would
there have been another command structure you would have taken with more
participative management?
The question implies that Eisenhower did not have a participative management style.
Most historians would seem to disagree (Johnson, 2006, p. 2). The purpose of having
a Supreme Allied Commander was not to elevate one person due to his talent
Analysis Of Where The Wild Things Are Essay
Character of Godly Leaders
The word character naturally conjures up an array of specific attributes distinctive
of an individual or environment. Our earliest experiences with character likely stem
from being read classic children s books, like Maurice Sendak s, Where The Wild
Things Are, or Dr. Seuss s, Green Eggs and Ham, which portray distinct personality
traits within the main character and demonstrate evolution of self as the character
acquires knowledge from his or her life experience. Like the characters within our
favorite childhood books, each of us represents a malleable being whose shape can
transform through the beautiful manifestation of God s glory throughout our life
journey.
The bible provides countless examples of individuals with an incredible moral
foreground on which a sovereign God casts influence upon the body of Christ, from
the metamorphosis of the apostle Peter to Jesus the Messiah, yet God himself remains
the ultimate testament of character. The immaculate nature of God can be seen
within the following excerpt from the book of Exodus,
As he passed in front of Moses, he called out. He said, I am the LORD, the LORD.
I am the God who is tender and kind. I am gracious. I am slow to get angry. I am
faithful and full of love. I continue to show my love to thousands of people. I
forgive those who do evil. I forgive those who refuse to obey me. And I forgive those
who sin. But I do not let guilty people go without punishing them. I cause

means that Tiny Tim s life about to be gone. This is because of Scrooge s greed to
mankind. The last ghost was the quiet Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come. Scrooge
was scared of this ghost because it did not talk. The ghost wore a black garment that
covers it head and only shows his skeleton hands. This spirit shows that Tiny Tim
dies in the future and also foreshadows Scrooge s death.

Leadership Theory Of Leadership Theories
Leadership Theory Paper
Leadership Theories
During this course, the focus has been on leadership and the different theories of
leadership. There are either eight to ten leadership theories, depending on the
source. Those leadership theories describe different aspects of what it take to be a
leader and the skills and traits of people who are considered leaders. There are two
different sets of leadership theories. According to Cherry (2012), when it comes to
leadership theories, most can be classified as one of eight major types. Those eight
major types are called the Great Man Theories, Trait theories, Contingency Theories,
Situational theories, Behavioral theories, Participative theories, Management
theories, and Relationship theories. Those eight leadership theories are similar to the
ten leadership theories discussed by Zigarelli. According to Zigarelli (2013), There
are ten leadership styles that all have useful aspects to them, and the more that a
person learns about all ten theories, they better equipped they will be to become a
leader. The ten leadership theories are identical in some areas to the eight leadership
theories, but there are some differences. The ten leadership theories are the Great
Man Theory, The Trait Theory of Leadership, The Skills Theory of Leadership, The
Situational Leadership Theory, The Contingency Theory, Transactional Leadership,
Transformational Leadership, Leader Member Exchange Theory, and the Servant
Leadership Theory. After

My husband and I have incorporated these same principles in our household. I too
know and have felt that same joy my parents felt with each of our six children.
Pipes and Lee said it best, That is what this book is about: raising your family to
follow Christ. 4 This is what the Word of God tells us as believers as well, Fathers,
do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction
of the Lord. 5
Reflection
Although I truly enjoyed reading Family to Family by authors Pipes and Lee, I find
that this book was really focused on those parents who already know and have a
relationship with Jesus Christ and want or need to build a better Christ centered
family life. In reading this book I feel that today, there are so many non believers
who could benefit from the teaching principles in this book. We are all so busy
these days. We are like ships passing in the wind, always coming and going. We as
parents have to be willing to stop and stand for something within our families.
Otherwise what are we really passing on to our children and their children? We must
be mission driven within our families just as we are in the business world. The
authors Pipes and Lee do a great job in pointing this fact out. I would have liked to
see more information to help the reader the parent and future parents to understand
the why this is important. The authors might have used more relevant or popular facts
pertaining to society

The best laboratory test to perform will be an antigen test that will be collected
from the duodenal fluid, a microscopic examination of a stool sample that will be
collected from Amy and a xTAG GPP Gastrointestinal pathogen panel test, will be
tested to better determine what is causing Amy s discomfort. When testing the stool,
we are looking for the presence of any oval cysts and other abnormalities that may
be the cause of Amy s intestinal discomfort (Bauman, R. W., Machunis Masuoka, E,
2009). As well as testing the stool sample the laboratory will be testing the duodenal
fluid and will be looking to find protein in the fluid and what that specific protein is
found will help determine what is bothering the patient Amy Ford (Antigen Tests for
Giardiasis, n.d.). However, when testing with a xTAG GPP Gastrointestinal pathogen
panel test, the lab technicians are performing a nucleic acid test that detects the
presence of specific DNA (Bauman, R. W., Machunis Masuoka, E. 2009). Depending
on the lab technicians finding will determine what the doctor thinks that patient Amy
Ford needs to do to feel

Disintermediation could lead to economic crisis because of the importance of banks
in the economy. Banks are very important in an economy because they provide
safety for depositor, provide a wide variety of loans and offer other credit vehicles
like cards and overdrafts. The bank connects surplus and deficit economic agents and
significantly contributes to the progress of any economy through facilitation of
business.
Economic Development: Banks facilitate the development of saving plans and are
instruments of the government s monetary strategic policies among others. They also
provide credit provision, liquidity provision, and risk management services,

It increases the size of the capital market and generates more business for
investment banks, brokers, and fund managers because of the advisory role. It
enables borrowers to borrow at a lower cost and investors get higher rate of return,
but they lose the safety of the banking system in the process. (Patrick Artus, October
2012.)
Main reasons for Bank disintermediation are as follows:
High Rate of Borrowing: If the Bank s rate of borrowing is high, borrowers tend to
seek lower cost of financing for example, issuers of commercial papers, etc to reduce
overall interest expense and ultimately improve on company s cash flow from
operations.
Low Interest Rates: Low interest rates on deposit and savings accounts could lead to
financial disintermediation because depositors who want higher returns on their
deposits will be looking at alternative ways of improving their yield. Also policies
like regulation Q and Regulation D promulgated by the Federal Reserve Board in the
United States in 1933, though regulation Q does not exist anymore led to imposition
of interest rate ceilings on various other types of bank deposits, including savings and
time deposits. The imposed limit on savings deposit interest rates encouraged the rise
of alternatives to banks, including money market funds.

Rowling came to understand that she was still alive and it caused her to reevaluate

The Twin Themes Of Guanxi Culture In Chinese Society
The unique guanxi culture in Chinese society sets its societal framework distinctively
apart from the West. Although guanxi is often portrayed as one s social network, it is
much different from the so called connections in Western society. Guanxi is a special
social phenomenon in the Chinese societal context. It has survived throughout history
and continues to be a prevalent trend because it has its Chinese characteristics and
attributes that are not found in other societies. The existence of guanxi in Chinese
society originated from the core Chinese value of collectivism. Since centuries ago,
Chinese society s group life and social organization has been based on collective
interests. Familial sentiments and obligations, [which were regarded as ethical
relations], extended from the family into society [later on] . The unofficial, informal
networks of familial and kinship obligations provided the social support mechanisms
through which peasant families survived in the economy of transition and hardships
(Bian, 2001, p.276). The twin themes of guanxi and the sense of hierarchy mutually
enhance each other because private networks thrive through the existence of the
principle of giving and reciprocating, which highlights that there is a dependent on a
more resourceful party in the relationship. The future of the twin themes in Chinawill
continue to be built upon mutual reliance and the looked upon generous favour giver
in bridging the connections between multiple parties.
Theory Of Games And Economic Behavior
Abstract
In the year 1944, with John Von Neumann and Oskar Morgenstern publishing their
paper on Theory of Games and Economic Behavior, foundations of Game Theory was
laid. This paper is an attempt at condensing the fundamentals required to help
decision making at early stages of Project Procurement. With the advent in
implementation of Game Theory in real world, new theories have emerged with Game
Theory as their stepping stone. Simple yet important concept such as Nash

It is important that we understand why its creator felt this way, according to them the
reason for this is simply that economics is far too difficult a science to permit its
construction rapidly, especially in view of the very limited knowledge and imperfect
description of the facts with which economists are dealing. Only those who fail to
appreciate this condition are likely to attempt the construction of universal systems.
The Game doesn t always equate to the procedure that results in winning or loosing
(which can be the case many a times). Here the connotation is merely utilized to
provide a sense of structure involving strategies and plans to the whole process. As
seen in a general Game, there are players and payoffs. Players have their strategies for
particular situations, which may or may not depend on the other players moves. One
interesting nature of game theory is seen when deciding moves using predefined
strategies; our moves can be independent of those of the opponent s, however, results
occurring due to the combination moves are totally interdependent. This can be
confusing but with understanding this underlining concept of game theory comes
into light easily. This phenomenon is known as Strategic Interdependency. Simply
described as: What I do affect your outcome, what you do affects my outcome.
To understand such subtle complexities, one must be familiar with the knowledge

Beowulf Evil Vs Evil Essay
Throughout history we have seen different kind of battles and duels, but all of this
confrontations have always represented the good vs. the evil. There has been
demons, monster, and even the mind of a human itself, but good has always found a
way to keep the world balanced. There has always been different ways in which evil
has been presented, but I believe that the most awful and dreadful one is the devil.
The devil controls every other dreadful creature in the world, he is the reason why
evil exists. Even though we always picture monster and demons as the
representation of evil, humans can also be evil, and we can be even worse.
Human beings have a certain ability to hurt other people psychologically, and it can
be even more painful than hurting someone physically. We tend to make people
feel less, excluded and small, so we can have an advantage over them. This is the
same exact methodology for monsters and demons, the only difference is that they
do it physically. Movies, theatre, books and comic have always presented evil as
gigantic and dreadful creatures, that always try to make humans, demigods, or even
gods to feel small and impotent. But that is the thing about evil, it is always beaten by

It presents an awful creature named Grendel, which is obviously the representation of
evil. Beowulf and Grendel have a duel, and at the end Beowulf win, because good
always triumphs. In a film, I would portray Grendel as a giant vampire, that has
claws and horns. In that way Grendel would be able to slaughter all the men he
wants. This is a great story to represent the epic in it, and the global controversy
that has always been here, good vs. bad. At the end of the day, there will always be a
good side and a bad side in every situation, story, movie, or even lifestyle. You are
able to choose whatever you want, but make sure you make a good

to grow and thrive until it was destroyed in 1865 in the civil war by General
Sherman during his famous March to the Sea (Wikipedia, 2016). After its destruction,
the city was slowly rebuilt over the following years to eventually become the massive

Roll Of Thunder Hear My Cry Courageous Quotes
Courage During The Thunder In life, being courageous means you have to stand
up for your convictions and beliefs. In the novel Roll Of Thunder, Hear My Cry
written by Mildred D. Taylor, Stacey consistently shows gigantic amounts of courage
throughout the book. Stacey shows how courageous he was when he chased after
T.J. to find the truth for his mom; when he confronted T.J. about his lying and tells
the kids he wouldn t stand for it; and when Stacey stays behind during the big
explosion of violence at the end of the book. The events all demonstrate Stacey s
courage and willingness to help his family.

During the climax of the book, the beating of the Averys, Stacey stayed behind to
watch the violent scene while the Logan kids went safely back home to their
parents. According to the text, Stacey whispered you take Little Man and
Christopher John and y all (Taylor,253). Even though Stacey got cut off he was
going to tell the kids to go home, and that he would stay there and keep watch of
what was going on between the white and the blacks, which was extremely
courageous. The text also says, Papa spun around suddenly. Gotta get him out of
there, he said, moving quicker than I had thought possible with his bad leg.
(Taylor,259). This shows how worried Stacey s parents were about him being close
to all the fighting, which shows how courageous he was to be there. Stacey s bravery
further proves that being courageous, means you have to stand up for your

Essay On Tradition. Calaméo - Essay on Arranged Marriage: Past Tradition or Cruel Reality

  • 1. Essay On Tradition Crafting an essay on the topic of tradition can be a challenging endeavor, as it requires navigating through a complex tapestry of cultural norms, historical practices, and personal interpretations. The difficulty lies not only in presenting a comprehensive understanding of the concept but also in capturing its nuanced essence. Tradition is a multifaceted subject that transcends time and space, demanding a delicate balance between respect for the past and an awareness of evolving perspectives. One of the challenges is the vast scope of traditions that span across different societies, each with its unique customs and rituals. Attempting to cover this breadth while delving into the depth of individual traditions can be an intricate task. Striking the right balance between providing a general overview and delving into specific examples without oversimplifying or overwhelming the reader is an art that demands careful consideration. Moreover, the interpretation of tradition varies from person to person, and cultural context plays a pivotal role in shaping perspectives. Balancing the subjective and objective aspects of the essay is essential to avoid falling into the trap of bias or ethnocentrism. It necessitates an in-depth exploration of differing viewpoints and an acknowledgment of the dynamism inherent in traditions. Additionally, navigating the fine line between celebrating the value of tradition and critically examining its potential drawbacks poses a unique challenge. The essay must avoid romanticizing the past while acknowledging the importance of preserving cultural heritage. Struggling with this delicate equilibrium requires a nuanced approach that combines empathy with analytical rigor. Furthermore, constructing a coherent narrative that seamlessly connects the historical roots of traditions with their contemporary relevance is no small feat. The essay must weave a cohesive storyline that guides the reader through the evolution of traditions, emphasizing their adaptive nature without losing sight of their foundational principles. In conclusion, tackling an essay on the topic of tradition demands a thoughtful and nuanced approach. The writer must navigate the complexities of cultural diversity, individual perspectives, and the evolving nature of traditions while maintaining a delicate balance between celebration and critique. Successfully capturing the essence of tradition in all its facets requires not only thorough research but also a keen understanding of the intricacies involved. If you find yourself grappling with the intricacies of such an essay or other academic challenges, consider seeking assistance. Professional writing services likeHelpWriting.net offer support in crafting well-researched and articulate essays on a variety of topics, helping you overcome the hurdles of academic writing. • 2. Essay about Benefits of Medical Abbreviations Benefits of Medical Abbreviations There are many benefits of medical abbreviations. One benefit of medical abbreviations is how much easier it makes it to read a chart. This speeds up the process by knowing the abbreviations and the use of them. It is nice to simplify things by using medical abbreviations when it is a busy day. The other reason to use medical abbreviations is so that only the medical personnel will know what is being described. It is a very efficient way of maintaining a patient s privacy. Everybody does not need to know a patient s medical history or what is going on with a patient or resident and allows their privacy to be protected. There were a few abbreviation mistakes that I noticed. There were no ICD 9 CM codes on the admission summary sheet. These codes are used for billing and the absence of these codes would cause her provider not to approve of her billing. The second mistake noticed was that all diagnosis were principle diagnosis and no secondary diagnosis. Which was the main reason for admitting Jane Dare, Congestive Heart Failure, left pleural effusion, or pneumonia? There should almost always be a secondary diagnosis with a primary. Another mistake noticed is the kind of antibiotic used when Jane was pit on an IV. Was there sulfa in it, considering Jane is allergic? Why was a blood culture not collected? If Jane was not able to sleep in her room because it is too hot or cold and the staff has found her sleeping on the floor, how do they know that she did not fall during the night? In RAP #8 it says that Jane needs the assistance of 1 to ambulate, however, the next statement reads that in a wheelchair she must be pushed to and from all locations because she gets SOB when doing it on her own. If she is able to ambulate, why is it she is having trouble in a wheelchair? Also, if psychotropic drugs are causing problems, why hasn t the
  • 3. Ron Paul Research Paper Real patriotism is a willingness to challenge the government when it s wrong, (Paul, brainyquote.com). Ron Paul is one of the most politically outspoken, upfront, and direct figures in the political world. While many leftist members have called Ron Paul an extremist and have sometimes many political discrepancies, even with Republican peers at some times, I believe its clear that Ron Paul has shown and still shows political courage because Paul is very open about his unchanging Libertarian /Conservative ideologies and was the only U.S. Representative to vote against the U.S.A. Ron Paul answers no, it was not necessary and could have avoided 4,425 deaths and 32,223 wounded on the American side alone (Casualties of Iraq war, antiwar.com). The Iraqi casualties vary anywhere from 100,000 to upwards of 1 million total deaths as far as scientific surveys go (Casualties of Iraq war, Wikipedia.com). While this was one of the least casualty stricken wars in American history, the economic spending on this war was an amount some would call insanity. The base total cost America 1.7 trillion dollars, not including the 490 billion dollars owed to war veterans (Cost of Iraq war, reuters.com). As of October 30th, 11:15pm, 2014, the US is in $17,909,170,840,508.92 in debt (U.S. Debt Clock

The Archaeological Sites of the Island of Meroe contain some of the best preserved artifacts from the Kingdom of Kush. These include pyramids, temples and palaces. Meroe was also a religious center. It is important to preserve the history of Meroe because of the influence the Kush Kingdom had over Sub Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean. The Kush peoples trade routes brought new art, languages and religions to the region. The best preserved artifacts of the Kingdom of Kush are located in Meroe. Lane Clyde Frost was born on July 13, 1956 in LaJunta, Colorado to Clyde and Elsie Frost. Lane was named after his father and was the middle child. He had an older sister, Robin, and a younger brother, Cody. Lane grew up working on the dairy farm that his parents owned. His father Clyde was a bull rider and took the game very serious. He missed the birth of his second child because he was away on the rodeocircuit making money as a saddle bronc and bareback rider. Clyde also competed in five National Finals Rodeos. Lane became very interested in rodeo as a young boy. His mother even made him his first pair of chaps, she remembers saying that she hoped he would outgrow this rodeo thing. However, as Lane got older his love for rodeo only grew. When Lane was in junior high he excelled in wrestling. Weighing only 75 pounds Lane won 45 matches, lost four, and had two ties. Even though he was very good at wrestling his heart was still in the rodeo ( Official Lane Frost Site ). On January 5, 1985, Lane married Kellie Kyle at the United Methodist Church in Quanah, Texas. Lane and Kellie met in 1980 at the National High School Rodeo Finals, this is also where he met his long time best friend, Tuff Hedeman (Ebert). One story will keep you in suspense wondering about this little old ladies purpose of walking a dark path, while the other story seems to be taking the character back in time to find she is only having an after death experience. As you read of the two stories, you will find they are similar in the fact that both have a symbolism of death. The short storyA Worn Pathsurrounds the character Phoenix Jackson. She makes a comment that suggest she is remembering an image of her grandson when she says I remember so plain now. I am not going to forget him again, no, the whole enduring time. I could tell him from all others in creation (AN Q). After getting the medicine from the nurse, she speaks briefly of a paper windmill for her grandson. The story ends with her going down the stairs. Phoenix taps the floor with her cane before going down the steps just as she did in the beginning of the story when she taps the frozen ground with her cane. Her desperate need for companionship is demonstrated when she has a vision of a boy offering her a piece of cake on a plate. It is believed the boy in the vision was her deceased grandson. Phoenix s imagination of her grandson still existing is her way of coping with the hardness of her life. We find at the end, the journey may have been more of a necessity for Phoenix than for her grandson. She made this journey to meet her own needs, and what started out a life sustaining journey ends in

The long term dispute over which is better, east coast vs. west coast, will undoubtedly continue until this country no longer exists. While both coasts offer travelers and natives a variety of places to eat, things to do, and places to see, California, North Carolina, and South Carolina want to put their states on the map with their interesting history and ways of living. Due to so much variety on each coast, there is something on each side for everyone. More often than not, people picture California and the Carolinas to be polar opposites. This way of thinking comes from the idea that Hollywood, the city of dreams, consumes California entirely. Consequently, travelers must dig deep to find the hidden gems throughout each state. There will always be more than what meets the eye. There are hundreds of military bases throughout the United States of America. California and the Carolinas contribute to that statistic. Home to almost 30 different bases, California boasts the most commonly known Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, Camp Pendleton, Marine Corps Recruit Depot San Diego, and the Naval Amphibious Base Coronado, home to the Navy SEALS. One of the very prevalent military communities within California is San Diego. There is an overwhelming sense of pride in the Armed Forces around every corner in what is a relatively large city. North and South Carolina are very familiar with that same sense of pride. Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island, Camp Lejeune, Marine Corps

HISTORICAL PERSPECTIVES OF THE TREATMENT OF CARDIAC ARRHYTHMIA INTRODUCTION: The contraction and relaxation of the heart is represented in the form of electrical signals in electrocardiogram. Normally the depolarisation of SA node present in the right atrium of the heart is helpful in determining the heart rate of a person. SA node i.e. the sino atrial node is called the natural pacemaker of the heart. The electrical signal produced by the SA node starts the first beat, it causes the atria to contract and then these signals arrive AV node which allows ventricles to contract causing the blood to flow throughout the body. Tilt Table Test: The heart rate and blood pressure is measured while lying on the table and then the table is tilted and doctor monitors the heart activity. Electrophysiological testing and mapping: Electrodes are placed in the heart and mapping of the electrical signals within the heart is done. (Scott C. Litin, October 6 2009) TREATMENT: For bradycardia generally an artificial pacemaker is used which implanted near your heart so when the heart slows down or stops pacemaker generates impulses in order to stimulate the heart. For tachycardia generally a pacemaker is used which emits impulses for the normal functioning of the heart. In this condition implantable cardioverter defibrillator is also used. It is recommended only when the patient is at high risk. When there occurs sudden cardiac arrest then this implantable device sends low or high impulses to reset the heart so as to beat in normal rhythm. Many surgical procedures like maze procedure in which doctors make an incision in the cardiac tissues and thus they does not conduct electricity and which results in lowering down of the heart rate, another surgical procedure involved is cardiac bypass surgery, this is performed when there are many other coronary artery problems other than arrhythmia. Minor tachycardia can also be controlled by medication. (Scott C. Litin,

Organizational objectives contribute to creating a motivating work setting because they provide employees with a sense of meaning and purpose and help employees understand the goals they should be striving for (George and Jones, 2005). Mary Kay Cosmetics wants to be the top sellers in their industry, but they also want to promote a customer centered culture that strives for total customer satisfaction (Incentive, 1991), but their current incentive program doesn t provide rewards for beauty consultants with high levels of customer satisfaction. • 11. The Age Of Innocence Quote Analysis Societal norms and expectations are being reexamined more now than they ever have before; questions that many would never have dared to say (and some would not know to think about) are being debated and considered. Society still influences a major part of daily life, but it used to have almost complete control over others actions and views. In Edith Wharton s The Age of Innocence, a restrictive society works to maintain the same traditions, and put its next generation into the exact roles as those who came before them. In the following passage, Archer is having a conversation with Winsett, an outsider of the New York society, who points out a fault of the people of New York and their monotonous ways. Winsett points out that the potential of America, and specifically of New York, is dying out because no one is working on it, or trying to improve it. Archer reflects about the expectations of a gentleman, that they should only stay at their home and restrain themselves. However, without work, without innovation, without going right down in the muck, nothing would grow or stay in stasis it would die out, slowly. The society Newland Archer is part of is almost his entire world, yet it is just a pitiful little minority without guidance, or anyone on the outside that cares what they do. His New York is not a place of blending backgrounds, lives, patterns, views it is just a smaller box as monotonously planned as atoms (103). Archer s society is not only in stasis,
  • 12. Comparing Satire in Canterbury Tales, Pride and Prejudice... Use of Satire in Canterbury Tales, Pride and Prejudice and The Rape of the Lock Jane Austen and Alexander Pope had had a myriad of writing styles and techniques from which to express the desired themes of their works. Satire, however, seemed to be the effective light hearted, yet condescending, tool that enabled them to surface the faults and follies of their moral and elite society. In Chaucer s Canterbury Tales, satire is used to the full extent in revealing the glutton within a pious and sacrificing nun, the vain hunter within a poor and meditative monk, and the vulgarity within a honorable woman of society. In Pride and Prejudice and The Rape of the Lock, Austen and Pope use contrasting forms of satire to obtain the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... She believes in speaking her mind, exercising her wit with books, and falling in love with a man s character and soul rather than his yearly income. Elizabeth s character is essential to the satirical purpose of the novel because it clashes loudly with the vanities that society holds so dearly, and forces society to see how it blindly debases itself by believing in the importance of appearance and status rather than self importance and individuality. Austen further mocks society through Mary, Elizabeth s younger sister. Mary conspicuously tries to defy the standard rules of proper ladies in society by refusing to dance at the balls, reading books in public, and using a verbose vocabulary to create the illusion that she is a well accomplished woman. However, these actions only make her motives of being an individual to receive praise from society more obvious, adding another element of character satire to the novel. Pope s The Rape of the Lock is a mock epic that uses hyperboles to fill an otherwise absurd and unimportant situation with pompous splendor; therefore, with the additional extravagancies, the situation becomes even more trivial. For example, in Pope s poem a lord cuts a lock of hair from the head of a lovely maiden. The actual occurrence of such a trivial matter in Pope s society had caused great alarm, influencing him to light heartedly ridicule the people involved in the situation by creating a
  • 13. Total Fixed Costs The product my business has chose to produce is water bottles. After some research it can be said that the typical production cost of one water bottle unit is $20. Total fixed costs for my company including rent and utilities are $4000 per month. Given these numbers a linear cost function for my product can be constructed; C(x) = 20x + 4000. In this equation x represents water bottles produced each month at a price of $20 along with $4000 of total fixed costs. An estimated total cost per month can then be determined of $120,000 looking at what the company can afford. Using the cost function C(x), we can plug in 120,000 to then determine the number of water bottles produced each month, which will be x. The beginning equation is C(120000) = 20x + 4000, begin by subtracting 4000 from each side leaving us with 116000 = 20x then divide both sides of the equation by 20 to get a final answer of x = 5800. This is the number of bottles produced each month. Given the price demand... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... To solve the equation, you plug 3000 in for x and get p(price) = 120. Yes, the unit price of $120 may seem high but because production decreased by almost half and we kept revenue the same the increase in unit price was justified. A function for the elasticity of demand would have to follow the equation E(p) = pf (p)/f(p). The predetermined function for f(p) = 12000 75p and taking the derivative f (p) = 75, these can be plugged into the elasticity demand function to get E(p) = 75p/12000 75p. Using the unit price of $120 for p elasticity of demand comes out to be 3. Since 3 is greater than 1 the unit elasticity at this price is elastic. Based on this finding increasing this price would make revenue less productive and so we should keep the price of the water bottles lower to be able to produce more; however, it would make sense to increase

  • 16. Essay on Controversial Supreme Court Case Roper V. Simmons The Death Penalty is a controversial topic on its own. However, if you add the possibility of a minor receiving the death penalty it gets even more interesting. The Supreme Court case of Roper v. Simmons was a perfect example of that. Roper v. Simmons presented the Supreme Court with two questions: 1) whether or not the execution of those who were sixteen or seventeen at the time of a crime is cruel and unusual punished and 2) does is violate the Eighth and Fourteenth Amendment. The main audience for this particular case is the general American population, and specifically affects the juvenile population. KENTUCKY, 492 U.S. 361 1989) The Court later ruled in Atkins v. Virginia (2002) that, mentally retarded persons were exempt from the death penalty as well, a further sign of society s changing standards. (ATKINS v. VIRGINIA, 536 U.S. 320 2002) The decision in Atkins explained that due to their impairments, it is highly unlikely that such offenders could ever deserve capital punishment. (ATKINS v. VIRGINIA, 536 U.S. 320 2002) The reasoning in Atkins is applied to the Simmons decision. Kennedy argues that because individuals under 18 are categorically less culpable than the average criminal, they should not deserve the death penalty. Kennedy adds that there are three differences between juveniles under 18 and adult offenders. First, juveniles often lack the maturity found in adults, a trait that is understandable among the young and adolescents are overrepresented statistically in virtually every category of reckless behavior. (ROPER v. SIMMONS, (03 633) 543 U.S. 551 2005) The second difference is, that they are more vulnerable to negative influences or outside pressures and this could lead to deviant behavior. (ROPER v. SIMMONS, (03 633) 543 U.S. 551 2005) Lastly, Kennedy asserts that the character of a juvenile is not as well formed as an adult and that personality traits in adolescents are transitory. (ROPER v. SIMMONS, (03 633) 543 U.S. 551 2005) Moreover, because of the comparative immaturity and irresponsibility of

I find resonance in the words of Nikola Tesla, If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration . Change is what defined my childhood. My father is with the Indian Army and we moved to a new city every two years. In India, where language, food and culture change every hundred miles, I completed my education in several schools and under diverse settings. My curiosity to work in situations where nobody knows anything , and build up everything from scratch led me to pursue Engineering. Since automation, digitization and convergence of technology are today central to all streams of engineering, I decided to opt for Electronics and Communications Engineering for under graduation. This stream enabled me to apply my knowledge to build different applications in any field, and the courses served in refining my understanding about the subject making me keenly appreciative of the subtleties in this field. In college, inspired by technology and motivated by social implications, I teamed up with couple of classmates on a project for quadriplegic paralysis patients who are unable to use their limbs and are completely dependent for their mobility. The device was able to detect precise head movement and transmit the signal to the wheelchair circuitry setting it in motion. We extended this system by connecting it to wirelessly interact with a ZigBee receiver that is linked to electrical appliances via 8051 micro controller allowing the
  • 18. Pretty How Town For this week s journal I chose Anyone Lived in a Pretty How Town by E. E. Cummings. It is quite interesting poem with simple words that can be easily understood by readers. The meaning of the poem is that it describes the simple /ordinary life cycle of human beings. All people grow up, work, get married and then die. For example, someones married their everyones laughed their crying and did their dance (line 17 18) and One day anyone died I guess (line 25). It also shows the modern life, that everyone is busy in their life and doesn t really care about others in their surroundings. As it stated, women and men (both little and small) cared for anyone not at all (line 5 6). It also shows the common and simple people, whose identity is not very important.... The fifth element is personification which is a thing, an animal, or an abstract term is made human (p.455). In the poem stars, rain, sun and moon are used to show human s condition. Also bell is used to show all humans. For example, women and men (both dong and ding) (line, 33). I think the way Cummings placed all the words in order, he represented a good story. As a reader I was enjoying and had a feeling that I m reading a story. This sequence of words and step by step definition made it easily for me to understand better the whole meaning behind the poem. For example at first he started by giving an idea about people s ordinary life that no one cares for each other anymore. Then it slowly goes to each step and phase of life and states how life is going to end. The poetic elements that have been used are also simple and clear that can be easily grasped. Therefore, it really helped me to imagine the whole poem, and interpret it

The city of Berkeley, my hometown, is an amonole: distinct from other conventionally affluent cities across the country such as Irvine. Berkeley has always been baked with a splendor of various cultures showcased through the multitude of ethnicities, advanced tastes in art and music, along with an unapologetic exemplification of the sense of self whether it may be through clothing, sexual orientation, conduct, etcetera. This allowed me and my circle of friends to express our tastes and partake in activities that we genuinely enjoyed: weekends at the SFMOMA, brunching at La Note, watching ballets at the Opera House and so on. All of these interests, in order to truly enjoy, requires a level of cultural capital but it also demands economic capital. But habitus shapes more than just weekend interests. We all received good grades, which then paved way to a four year university. Our tastes in clothing were mostly identical. Even our tastes in boys aligned. But a humorous indicator of our shared habitus is that we are all obsessively thin. If I didn t have money or if I had spent my childhood in Oklahoma, my tastes, looks, opinions would differ drastically. Thus habitus trains people in my social class and those in others, to know when someone just is or isn t. And in my hometown, it s culture. In Berkeley, cultural capital is an indicator of social class; however, modern times have created a new symbolic struggle ... one that works in reverse. Symbolic struggle is the fight for social dominance. It is a game reflective of the higher class opinions; the middle class attempts to join in, acknowledging the standards set by those above them as best , while the lowest class pushes back through affirming their own identity. However opponents of the deontological view, such as Nancy Davies (1993), would argue that this is just keeping ones hands clean . Davies goes on to argue that, Deontologists ... not only assign more weight to our own avoidance of wrongdoing where wrongdoing is understood as violating the rule than to the interests of others, they also require that we assign more weight to our own avoidance of wrongdoing than we do to the avoidance of wrongdoing tout court, or the prevention of wrongdoing of others (1993, p. 207). Like the characters within our favorite childhood books, each of us represents a malleable being whose shape can transform through the beautiful manifestation of God s glory throughout our life journey. The bible provides countless examples of individuals with an incredible moral foreground on which a sovereign God casts influence upon the body of Christ, from the metamorphosis of the apostle Peter to Jesus the Messiah, yet God himself remains the ultimate testament of character. The immaculate nature of God can be seen within the following excerpt from the book of Exodus, As he passed in front of Moses, he called out. He said, I am the LORD, the LORD. I am the God who is tender and kind. I am gracious. I am slow to get angry. I am faithful and full of love. I continue to show my love to thousands of people. I forgive those who do evil. I forgive those who refuse to obey me. And I forgive those who sin. But I do not let guilty people go without punishing them. I cause

In reading this book I feel that today, there are so many non believers who could benefit from the teaching principles in this book. We are all so busy these days. We are like ships passing in the wind, always coming and going. We as parents have to be willing to stop and stand for something within our families. Otherwise what are we really passing on to our children and their children? We must be mission driven within our families just as we are in the business world. The authors Pipes and Lee do a great job in pointing this fact out. I would have liked to see more information to help the reader the parent and future parents to understand the why this is important. It increases the size of the capital market and generates more business for investment banks, brokers, and fund managers because of the advisory role. It enables borrowers to borrow at a lower cost and investors get higher rate of return, but they lose the safety of the banking system in the process. (Patrick Artus, October 2012.) Main reasons for Bank disintermediation are as follows: High Rate of Borrowing: If the Bank s rate of borrowing is high, borrowers tend to seek lower cost of financing for example, issuers of commercial papers, etc to reduce overall interest expense and ultimately improve on company s cash flow from operations. Low Interest Rates: Low interest rates on deposit and savings accounts could lead to financial disintermediation because depositors who want higher returns on their deposits will be looking at alternative ways of improving their yield. Also policies like regulation Q and Regulation D promulgated by the Federal Reserve Board in the United States in 1933, though regulation Q does not exist anymore led to imposition of interest rate ceilings on various other types of bank deposits, including savings and time deposits. The imposed limit on savings deposit interest rates encouraged the rise of alternatives to banks, including money market funds.

Although guanxi is often portrayed as one s social network, it is much different from the so called connections in Western society. Guanxi is a special social phenomenon in the Chinese societal context. It has survived throughout history and continues to be a prevalent trend because it has its Chinese characteristics and attributes that are not found in other societies. The existence of guanxi in Chinese society originated from the core Chinese value of collectivism. Since centuries ago, Chinese society s group life and social organization has been based on collective interests. Familial sentiments and obligations, [which were regarded as ethical relations], extended from the family into society [later on] . The unofficial, informal networks of familial and kinship obligations provided the social support mechanisms through which peasant families survived in the economy of transition and hardships (Bian, 2001, p.276). The twin themes of guanxi and the sense of hierarchy mutually enhance each other because private networks thrive through the existence of the principle of giving and reciprocating, which highlights that there is a dependent on a more resourceful party in the relationship. The future of the twin themes in Chinawill continue to be built upon mutual reliance and the looked upon generous favour giver in bridging the connections between multiple parties.

Only those who fail to appreciate this condition are likely to attempt the construction of universal systems. The Game doesn t always equate to the procedure that results in winning or loosing (which can be the case many a times). Here the connotation is merely utilized to provide a sense of structure involving strategies and plans to the whole process. As seen in a general Game, there are players and payoffs. Players have their strategies for particular situations, which may or may not depend on the other players moves. One interesting nature of game theory is seen when deciding moves using predefined strategies; our moves can be independent of those of the opponent s, however, results occurring due to the combination moves are totally interdependent.
