Hollywood Sheet Analysis Essay
Similarly as with hardwood and softwood sizes, plywood sizes can be to some degree
confounding. Plywood sheets normally sold as four feet wide, yet are infrequently found in two
and five foot widths. Likewise, a plywood sheet s length is generally eight feet, however a few
suppliers convey four and twelve foot lengths. Metric sizes are additionally accessible.
While the length and width of a sheet is entirely straight forward, the thickness measurements are
definitely not. The most well known sizes of plywood sold in the United States are 3/4 , 1/2 and 1
/4 . Notwithstanding, that is not precisely right. A 3/4 sheet of plywood is truly 23/32 . Likewise, 1
/2 ought to be accurately marked as 15/32 and 1/4 named as 7/32 . In any case, everybody ... Show

Take a stab at finding a 2x4 that really measures two inches by four inches. Rather, in the event that
you haul out a measuring tape, you ll see that the 2x4 really measures 1 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches
in size. You ll see that a 2x6 is correspondingly one half crawl more slender and smaller than
publicized. For example, a 1x4 will really gauge 3/4 crawl thick by 3 1/2 inches in size.
While this standard applies to dimensional timber, especially the SPF stock that is common in

Why isn t a 3/4 inch Sheet really 3/4 Inches Thick?
The inquiry most usually postured when individuals learn of the varieties in wood sizes is, the
reason wouldn t they be able to simply offer a two creep thick by four crawl wide board when I

There are two answers usually given. The first is that producers established that on the off chance

In The Raven by Edgar Allen Poe and My mistress eyes by William Shakespeare they both use
strong imagery. Imagery in both of these poems helps set the tone, theme, and helps convey

Essay on Reproductive and Therapeutic Cloning
There are two types of cloning, one of them is reproductive cloning which is when a whole
organism is cloned and therapeutic cloning is the cloning of cells, organs or tissues. Cloning is
when two cells decide or are forced to duplicate into two cells to replicate each other. Cloning can
be done deliberately or naturally; and it results in two copies having identical cells, DNA, genes,
organs and organisms. Cloningis a common, ongoing, debatable topic among society today. Many
people argue about how future scientific advances in cloning will affect society. Most often people
dislike the idea of cloning because it goes against their ethical beliefs, or because they are in fear of
it ending up in the wrong hands. But sometimes when the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Those who do not have enough confidence in the matter might argue that someone could create
super soldiers for war, but with everything comes limitations and law. No matter how many laws
are put into place, there will always be people there to either abide by them or to break them. As
long as the limitations keep such horrible things from happening and there are officers and the
government to aid, then there is no issue.
Also, because there are many benefits to cloning and since not everyone believes in a god why
should religion be used in making decisions for people where religious morality is not even an
issue? The beliefs of some people should not deprive others of the benefits of cloning. There are
those with religious beliefs who think that taking antibiotics or receiving blood transfusions is
wrong, but this does not stop the rest of the world from receiving the benefits from them. Science
is based on experimentation and observation, while religion is based on faith and things that can
not be proven. Making a law based on a religious belief goes against our Constitution. A human
clone is and should be thought of as a regular human, they are entitled to have the same basic
rights as everyone else. Whether the government bans cloning or not, it is inevitably going to take
place. The discovery has been made and curious scientists are not just going to leave it alone.

New Englander s Opposition Of The War Of 1812
New Englander s Opposition to the War of 1812
The War of 1812 was predominantly fought between the United States and the United Kingdom
for a variety of complex reasons but most notably was caused by Britain s inability to treat the
newly freed America as anything but a colonial body. Americans were overall outraged into war by
their own government s sanctioned trade embargoes, the impressments of seamen by the United
Kingdom, and interpersonal negative sentiments that greatly restricted America s trade with
European nations (including the vital trade with Britain) and in effect: America s economy.
American leaders at this point slightly miscalculated the effort by deciding to invade Canada as
the only viable way to properly attack Great Britain; this created an aggressive beginning on
America s part in this obscure war. The Treaty of Ghent ended the conflict in 1815 and said
nothing about the major issues that caused the war and did not conclude in a victory for either
side; it called for the return of preceding conditions before the war and did little to nothing to solve
the tensions between these two major nations: the United States and the United Kingdom. So how
did Americans feel about this unclear war? The War of 1812is America s most unpopular war as it
is largely forgotten in our history. The New Englanders specifically opposed the war, with some
Republicans lending a hand in the anti war effort. At this time New England was politically
dominated by the

Laryn Murray Research Paper
Laryn Murray, Freshman, inspired by her father, has been playing basketball for the majority of her
life, and looking at her current basketball resume, it seems like that time spent toward shooting
hoops has paid off.
Murray is the only freshman basketball player on the varsity team, which is no small feat. She is a
great role player for the the team, providing a quick minute or two break for the starting guards
whenever they need it.
She looks comfortable out there, she doesn t look like a freshman. She compliments us well, and
gives us a few minutes here and there, which makes us a deeper and better team. Varsity coach

Cerebral Phalsy Argumentative Essay
Despite the growing amount of resources available for those with cerebral palsy, many parents
and clinicians are looking for alternative treatments. One such treatment is known as conductive
education (CE). The basic idea is that people with motor disorders (e.g. cerebral palsy) may have
special learning disabilities on top of their motor impairments (Darrah et al., 2003). While initial
results seemed promising, two reviews showed that many of the studies produced conflicting
results, and that more robust studies were needed in order to come to a conclusion about CE
(Forssberg et al., 2000; Darrah et al., 2003). Yet another alternative treatment is goal directed
training. Goal directed training is a method where specific goals and interventions... Show more

One of the most exciting treatments being discussed and researched currently is neurotoxic protein
Botulinum toxin type A (BoTN A). By injecting BoNT A into spastic muscles, one can potentially
reduce the spasticity present from 3 6 months (Simpson et al., 2008; Scholtes et al., 2006; Dai et
al., 2008; Yang et al., 2008). It does this by weakening the muscle that it is injected into, effectively
relaxing the stiff muscles in cerebral palsy (Bihari, 2005). Additionally, BoNT A injections can
increase the motor functionality of a patient and reduce or prevent deformity (Apkon Cassidy,
2010). The effects are reversible, so after this time period has passed, BoNT A must be reinjected
into the muscle. The main focus of the injections are for spastic or dystonic muscles. Some, though,
have shown that whilst BoNT A injections are helpful in the upper and lower extremities, there is
conflicting evidence regarding motor function (Delgado et al., 2010). BoNT A injections may even
be combined with any number of physiotherapies, occupational therapies, orthotics or casting as
described above to increase its effectiveness (Novak et al., 2013). With these other measures,
walking performance and hand functionality improved (Novak et

Implications Of Health Economic Concepts Of Health Care.
Implications of Health Economic Concepts of Health Care Healthcare is an industry that
encompasses various factors to ensure that it s operating efficiently. Health care professionals have
an obligation to comprehend the role that health economics plays in regards to the demand and
utilization of health care. The government plays an enormous part in areas such as financing and
the delivery of care; therefore, the organization s decision maker must learn the economic functions
and its benefits to the health care sector. Delivering outstanding medical care is equally as
important as understanding demand and supply, available resources and the cost to provide care.

According to Pendzialek, Simic, Stock Pendzialek (2016), An example of price elasticity can occur
when the number or persons enrolled in a health plan changes when the cost of the premium rises or
declines. Unbeknownst to a majority of consumers, they play a bigger part in how the price
elasticity transpires and how their decisions impact the health demand curve. Health Measures The
two components that are used to assess health measures are morbidity and mortality. Morbidity is
the percentage of individuals diagnosed with certain conditions along with the number of
hospitalizations. Pregnancy has the potential cause other conditions that were not present before
conceiving. Diabetes and hypertension are two health conditions that can occur during pregnancy.
According to Kilpatrick Berg (2016), Identifying morbidity in post partum women can be based on
ICU admissions and blood transfusion that exceeds four units of blood. The more people with ideal
health will lower the morbidity rate, however as health declines and new conditions arise that will
contribute to an increase in morbidity rates. Mortality is not solely the totality of deaths it s the
number of people who die prematurely. The measurement of morbidity and mortality are imperfect
since all health professionals are not reporting the information; therefore, a strict protocol needs to

American History X By Tony Kaye And Written By David Mckenna
American History X Almost one week before I started to take this class, I watched American
History X for the first time. When I learned we are going to do this project, this movie was on
my mind and I did not surprise at all when I saw it in our movie list. Since the beginning of the
semester, everything related to multiculturalism in this movie is becoming clearer to me.
Multiculturalism is a huge issue, especially the country like the US which has many different
races. One of the first things I learned about multiculturalism is; it can be both negative or
positive ways. If the different races do not accept each other, it can be interpreted in a negative
way. This movie is a great example of showing the negative way of the multiculturalism. I see a
really big conflict between races in the movie. American History X is a 1998 American crime
drama film which directed by Tony Kaye and written by David McKenna. Edward Norton is the
lead actor as Derek. Even though he is one of my favorite actors, I never had a chance to watch
this movie before. After I watched his tremendous performance in this movie, I understand why the
Academy nominated him the second time for the best actor award. One interesting fact about the
movie, even though it is about multicultural issues in the US, we see everything from a white
point of view. As a result, Academy chooses a white actor as nominee for the award as usual. It is
just so interesting to me. The story of the movie is about two

The Influence Of Learners First Language
The influence of learners first language (L1) plays a significant role in learning a second
language (L2). In general, numerous studies have been investigating L1 transfer. In specific, the
influence of Arabic, more specifically Saudi Arabic, in learning English has been examined to
demonstrate the native language transfer in L2 learning (Binturki, 2008; Grami and
Alzughaibi, 2012; among others). Based on the influence of L1 and universal markedness
(things that are present in a small number of languages), Eckman (1977) proposes the
Markedness Differential Hypothesis (MDH). It helps predicting errors that L2 learners will
have based on a comparison between L1 and L2 and universal markedness. The aim of the
present study is to examine to what extent the MDH can account for mispronunciation of word
final voiced stops by Saudi Arabian learners of English. The results of this study contradict the
MDH. Despite the fact that both Saudi Arabic and English have voiced stops word finally, the
Saudi Arabian learners did not produce the voiced stops in coda positions correctly. The subjects
tended mostly to either substitute or devoiced final voiced stops. This paper will start with a
brief discretion of the word final voiced stops (/b d g/) in Saudi Arabic and English. Then, an
explanation about the MDH is involved followed by the section of data source and analysis, and
finally conclusion. Review of Literature English and Arabic Stops In this section, I present a brief

Limitations Of UN Peacekeeping
4. LIMITATIONS OF PEACEKEEPING
Limitations of UN Peacekeeping have been exposed time and again. The alterations caused by these
limitations have now been incorporated in the operational structure. The influence of a UN
Peacekeeping Operation, too, depends on extent of involvement of various actors, whose conduct
depends greatly on assessment of strategic interests. So, the characterization of United Nations as an
international authority which could issue directives to enforce its mandate would be an
overstatement as previous missions have demonstrated. There have been calls for overhauling the
UN Peacekeeping structure. A High level independent panel on peace operations was appointed
by Ban Ki moon, former Secretary General of United Nations in October, 2014 to review the
state of UN Peacekeeping Operations. A major concern shared by all panel members which was
also earmarked as an essential shift in the future process was the emphasis laid on striving
towards a political solution rather than an attempt to diffuse the crisis by military means alone.
Political instability has been at the roots of many conflicts, which the UN has sought to defuse by
deployment of peacekeeping missions. Most missions failed to address the larger issue of
restoring stability, on account of the fact that military interventions change the dynamics of
regional security forever. Also, removal of a regime could lead to further deterioration of the
conflict as political vacuum created by such removal and facilitating the creation of an interim
proxy regime has challenges of its own. Taking out governments/rulers is perceived as the most
effective immediate response to any call for intervention. The real challenge for international
community arises after a successful throw over, as it pushes the country towards a political crisis. It
is this situation that world/regional powers are keen on exploiting by appointing friendly rulers,
with an eye on strategic interests, which is why a concerted political solution should be the primary
objective of the international community to avoid complications. U.S. ambassador to the United
Nations, Nikki Haley recently hit out at the UN peacekeeping operations, calling for a clear
demarcation between

Flawed News And Public Opinions Essay
Flawed News and Public Opinions
TV Journalism has been degraded to the point in which true factual and informative reporting free
of bias has been replaced with short news bytes centered and focused on its entertainment value
alone. Within the political process, this has mostly served as a disservice to both politicians and the
general public audience.
Edward J Epstein published a book entitled News from Nowhere in which he observed NBC s news
department and how decisions were made on what was news worthy. He discovered a decline in
television network ratings and profits caused executives to change marketing strategies. This new
direction in news reporting would be tailored to an audience low in sophistication with the
network defining what would be newsworthy. Epstein wrote: Dull and complicated stories would
need to be of enormous importance to get on the air: but relatively trivial stories would make the
cut if interesting enough . (Edwards, p. 406). Supporting this observation Washington Post editors
Leonard Downie Jr and Robert Kaiser argue that Entertainment has pushed out information in the
TV news business and that the history of TV news can be summarized in a couple sentences .
(Edwards, p. 406). An exception to this practice would be networks assigning their best reporters
to cover major events or Lead Stories at well established sources such as the White House,
Congress, or the Pentagon. During the 1991 Gulf War, 50 per cent of the stories came from these

Topic: Supply Chain Management in the field of business
ABSTRACT
The term supply chain defines the combined efforts of different organization in reaching of a
product to the end user. The concept of Supply Chain Management lies in the idea of maximizing
the customer value and attain competitive advantage. The SCM incorporates the development and
capacity of raw materials, work in procedure stock, and completed products from the beginning
point to processing to the final customer.

INTRODUCTION Every product or service goes through several processes and steps before
reaching the customer. When a company makes a product from raw materials bought from a
supplier and sell it to a customer then, there is a supply chain in place (Murray, 2014).Each product
has a different series of steps that transform the raw materials into finished products, events in the
supply chain lead to this conversion. Supply chain represents the flow of information and finances
also and not just materials. Here, information means the knowledge of delivery dates and stock
updates. Materials flow in the direction of the supply chain while finances flow in the opposite
direction and information flows in both the directions (Renganathan, 2014). Supply chain
management can be defined as the things that are done to influence the supply chain in order to get
the desired results with competence in the best interest of the market being served (Basic Concepts
of Supply chain Management). Each supply chain has its unique set of demands and challenges
which vary depending upon the size of the business and the product itself.
ELEMENTS OF SUPPLY CHAIN There is a basic outline to the exercise of supply chain
management. It involves several elements that help in the movement of the product or service from
the manufacturer to the customer. The elements involved are customer, planning, purchasing,
inventory, production and transportation.

Surgical Site Infections At Hospitals, Accreditation...
Surgical site infections occur when a patient experiences infection following surgery, often as a
direct result of the care received in a hospital or other medical facility. While these infections can
often be easily treated while the patient is still at the hospital, the incidences of these infections can
have significant and lasting impacts on patients and the hospitalitself, even resulting in a patient s
death if the infection is not detected and treated appropriately. Since these infections occur while
patients are under the care of professionals and during hospital stays, it is imperative that all
involved in patient care follow procedures and policies established by the facility to reduce the risk
of infections in patients. This involves not only information about surgical site infections and their
prevention, but the impact of these infections on patients, hospitals, and staff members, as well as
how surgical site infections impacts a facility s accreditation. The purpose of this paper is to discuss
surgical site infections, the implications of their occurrences at hospitals, accreditation
expectations, and outcomes related to cost and quality.
Surgical Site Infection
A surgical site infection is, quite simply, an infection that occurs at a surgical incision point
following a surgical procedure (Nursing Standard, 2013). As with any medical procedures, there are
risks of infection following surgery, and surgical site infections can and do occur, even in the safety

idea what is fixing to happen. Randall Dudley s Ballad of Birmingham, gives a clear vision of
what happened this day in 1963. The bombing at the 16th street baptist church in Birmingham,
Alabama was a tragic event for the ones in this time. The poem shows the social and historical
context of what exactly was going on during this time. The author, Randall Dudley, was born on

Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease
Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Diseae (ADPKD) is a very common disorder
characterized by progressive enlargement of kidneys that show presence of multiple fluid filled
cysts. Extrarenal manifestations include multiple hepatic cysts, cysts in pancreas, spleen, and
seminal vesicals and show cardiovascular abnormalities. About 10% of the patients present with
intracranial aneurysms and 8% have sub arachnoid cysts. Renal function declines in about 50%
of ADPKD patients by third or fourth decade of life leading to End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD).
Its prevalence world wide ranges from 1/500 to 1/1000. In India about 2.5% of patients with
Chronic KidneyDisease (CKD) have ADPKD. Renal replacement therapies are the only available
treatment for these patients.
ADPKD is a genetically heterogenous disease with mutations in either PKD1 or PKD2 gene. PKD1
gene is located at chromosome 16p13.3 and PKD2 gene localizes to 4q21 22. In Western
population about 85% have mutations in PKD1 gene and rest 15% has PKD2 mutations (23 25%
in some populations). Patients with mutation in PKD1 gene have more severe phenotype and an
early onset disease than those linked to PKD2. Though most of the ADPKD patients have positive
family history, about 10% have de novo mutations. Asymptomatic at risk family members have
50% chance of inheriting the disease. Previously reported studies have suggested a possibility of a
third locus in families that did not relate to mutations in PKD1 or PKD2 gene. However

Dr. Hart Case
1. What are 1 2 issues/items that you agree with that he discusses in the video?
Of the issues, Dr. Hart discussed I agreed with the idea that crimes and poverty still exist outside of
addiction and the attractive alternatives to drugs can help deter the selection of that pathway.
Personally, I agree that crime and poverty aren t a consequence of drug use rather a precursor to the
act of. In some circumstances, the only way to get by in the eyes of an individual is to sell drugs
and in the process a habit is picked up. In other situations, crimes occur and throughout the process
drugs are introduced. After hearing about the research that has been conducted with humans and
animals, I also believe that alternatives can deter many from continuing ... Show more content on

Hart about was decriminalizing all drugs. I think that by doing this we would have a bigger issue
on our hands than we do now. I fully understand where his thought process is but I feel a better
way to handle it would be to re evaluate our current laws. I don t think it would be helpful to say
meth, crack, heroin, and all that fall under that umbrella are free for use. The way I see it, people
will start to take advantage. There would be no regulations, no guidelines to follow. The way Dr.
Hart is proposing, I feel would backfire. What I would suggest is to start looking at laws and
seeing where adjustments are needed. A great example would be our transitioning marijuana use to
recreational.
3. What is one thing that you learned that you didn t know prior to watching the video?
Before watching this TED talk, I had no clue that the one hit and you re hooked phrase came from
experiments conducted in the 1960 s. During these experiments, researchers had animals in cages
with only a lever which could be pulled to supply a dosage of a certain drug. The idea that only
only one hit can produce an addiction now is proven very biased. Like Dr. Hart says, these animals
only had the lever to pull and nothing else to occupy their time. With new research, it was shown
that one hit does not induce an

Transportation costs are largely based on the rates charged by carriers. There are two basic types
of transportation rates: class and commodity. The class rate, which is the higher of the two rates,
is the standard rate for every commodity moving between any two destinations. The commodity
rate is sometimes called a special rate, since it is given by carriers to shippers as a reward for
either regular use or large quantity shipments. (enotes) Which ever transportation choice is made it

Mission Of The Mission Santa Clara
The Mission Santa Clara is a historical California site that is laid in the center of the Santa Clara
University. In 1777, it established and founded by the Franciscan Order. The mission s purpose
was to be the sister mission to Mission Dolores that is in San Francisco. Due to Mexico
withdrawing from the Spanish Empire, the King of Spain and his Viceroy, the ones sponsoring the
missions, were no longer in power. The Mexican government didn t have enough resources and was
not interested to maintain and upkeep the distant missions, removing the Spanish Franciscans. With
little funds, the mission perished slowly until the ownership of the mission was passed over to the
Society of Jesus, also called the Jesuits, in 1851. They made Santa Claracollege and today, Mission
Santa Clara is used as a student chapel and opened to the public. Mission Santa Clara is set in the
middle of Santa Clara University(which can be seen in the Santa Clara University s campus map),
located in the Bay area. When it was founded, the city of Santa Clara was seen as a good place to
set the mission due to it having fertile land, mild climate that makes for comfortable living, and
abundance of game in the area. In front of the mission, there stands the Mission Cross. At the
base of the cross, a piece of the original cross, from 1777, is placed inside as a memorable.

Comparing A Pair Of Silk Stockings And A Wagner Matinee
It is time that we all see a gender as a spectrum, instead of two sets of opposing ideals (Emma
Watson). Feminism, while being a widely discussed topic in today s society, was rarely addressed
in the 1800s. Two important authors who make note of this topic throughout their work, are Kate
Chopin and Willa Cather. When comparing the works of these authors, it is blatantly obvious both
felt that women were repressed by Victorian standards of motherhood and domesticity, as well as
how unfulfilling the life of a typical femalein the 1800s was.
Without doubt, A Pair of Silk Stockings and A Wagner Matinee gives insight on the sacrifices
women are expected to make for their families. Both Chopin and Cather had felt repressed greatly

Therefore, sacrifices were expected out of women regardless of their emotional, physical, and or

she came up with a plan to buy clothes for her children. Contrary to her intentions, Mrs.
Sommers purchases herself a pair of silk stockings instead of clothes for her children. The text
states, She herself indulged in no such morbid retrospection (Chopin 505). Mrs. Sommers had no
intention to spend the money on herself. Though she indulged in her desires when she brought
the stockings, usually she never hesitated to give her wants up in order to supply her children
with their needs. Chopin believes that women should not be expected to always put others
desires before their own. In similarity, another author whose views are similar to Chopin s is
Willa Cather. Throughout Carter s story, A Wagner Matinee, she greatly emphasizes the sacrifices
women make for men. Cather creates a character by the name of Georgina who loves music but

The Flaws In Early American History Textbooks
To begin, a major flaw in the way American history courses are taught is due to the fact that
textbooks do not allow students to form their own opinions, for everything is presented as fact .
This is exemplified through the way early American life is taught. For example, a controversial
topic is the specific destination of the Mayflower during the Pilgrim s journey to America. Some
historians believe their arrival in Massachusetts was on purpose to be far from Anglican control
in Virginia, while others believe violent storms lead them off track, or there were just navigation
errors. The flaw then arises for all textbooks only pick one, and present it as fact to their readers
for they believe it is the students only way to learn about the past (81). However, a student needs...

American history textbooks always favor Plymouth Rock as the United States birthplace, for earlier
settlements like Jamestown lacked moral and even participated in the first use of chemical
warfare against a tribe, after forcing them to teach the colonists how to farm and taking them as
prisoners (84). However, textbooks overlook this for the more favorable Pilgrims in order to
prevent students from feeling bad about their early ancestors. However, this mindset strips
students abilities to apply their knowledge and come to conclusions on what went right and what
went wrong with the settlements in order to reach an educated perspective on their past.
Textbooks believe it necessary to present everything as fact in order for children to learn and be
right , when in reality it hinders students ability to think for themselves and use the evidence they
do have to reason and come to their own conclusions, which is necessary to promote a deeper level

Team Playoff Case Study
Sports have always served as a distraction from the rest of the world, and hopefully, the Badgers
will gain some votes of their own as the season winds down. With wins over Nebraska and
Northwestern in the past two weeks, Wisconsin sits at No. 7 in the college football rankings.
With a few weeks left in the regular season, and then conference championship games, there is
still plenty of time for the Badgers to make their move. If they win out and win the conference
championship game, it will be hard to keep them out, even with two losses. Here are the teams to
root for and against if you want to see Wisconsin in the Playoff.

the conference Oklahoma does not have much of a chance, but they have the Big 12 s best chance.

Four types of plate boundaries exist: Transform bounderies occur where two lithospheric plates

Therefore, the internet has a long way to go before meeting the standards. Many years ago, the
political process was not used within the internet. It has been said that the General Election
would become a success if the internet could hold the answer to solve its problems. However,
this does have its disadvantage because the internet could maybe cause political standards to
collapse. Also to the point that Stuart MacLennan was fired from being a Labour Candidate
because of unpleasant posts, he made on social network site Twitter. However, it had been said
that these sort of problems needed to be dealt with when it comes to the web, because they can

Due to the internet growing and increasing more and more by the minute, those political

USB and Seth complains about leaving the club and coming back to the office at 10:00pm.
Compared to Peter, Seth cares more about the well being of himself than of the survival of the

Scopophilia
Literature review.
The media has changed significantly over the past decades. Technology has modified our abilities
to expand our communication network, and it allows companies to spread their commercials over
many different continents. Research done by Roberts (1993) shows that adolescent and children
are often very influenced by media that involves sexual or violent conduct. This research is based
on media involving children and adolescents, however this does not eliminate the effect media has
on adults (Singer Singer, 2001, p. 269).
Over the past decades, media has constructed and manipulated women into being the main form of
sexual pleasure for the male viewer. Pleasure in looking, scopophilia, is one of many possible types

The woman can merely be a narcissistic projection that comes from the male, unconsciously.
Robert J. Stoller stated that Fetishizing is the norm of males, not for females , (Valerie Steel,
1996) Meaning that females are not interested in body parts and sexy outfits in the same way men
are. Fetishistic imagery is divided into three different types: the first is a woman with a phallic
substitute, secondly, a woman without a phallus usually intimidated or mocked by women with a
phallus and last, a woman as the phallus.
In fetishistic imagery, the true focus is always the phallus, and not the woman itself. Men attain
most pleasure from viewing voyeurism and fetishistic imagery because the men starts to feel more
control and power of their own lives because the men identify themselves with the male protagonist.
(Gaines, 1990.)
Stated in Fetish: Fashion, Sex Power (Valerie Steel, 1996), many feminists interpret fetish as a
symptom of patriarchy and capitalism, where the fetishist is always male and the female becomes
the fetish itself, the perfect object. Fetishism is described as glorifying by some, however others
would describe it as something negative, where the woman s desire has disappeared.
Women in films are usually portrayed as dependent to the male characters and it would therefor not
be very likely that females would experience pleasure from looking at a female character that is
influenced and dependent of the male characters, however studies show that women

Perspective Of Resiliency In Robert Frost s On A Tree...
Robert Frost s Perspective of Resiliency
Resiliency has always been a highly favored characteristic amongst societies. In Robert Frost s
On a Tree Fallen Across the Road the resiliency of the narrator and a group of individuals was
challenged. In the sonnet, a group of individuals were traveling through the woods when a heavy
wind storm knocked a tree in front of them, which resulted in a bar in their pathway. Although after
the group of individuals overcame their tribulation they received a new outlook to life. In the
sonnet; On a Tree Fallen Across the Road, Robert Frostpresented imagery and a metaphor in order
to communicate his thoughts and feelings on trials, ultimately Frost illustrated that resiliency
through trials result in a new perspective of life. Frost described the literal meaning of the sonnet
through imagery. Through Frost s description the audience was able to know the sonnet s setting
was in a windy environment near trees. Frost illustrated the setting through his description,
...tempest with a crash of wood. Through the description of the weather and surroundings of the
narrator, the audience was able to know there was a wind storm and a fallen tree in the path.
Correspondly, Frost described the effect of the fallentree. Frost illustrated the effect of the collapse
of the tree, [The tree] throws down in front of us... The collapse of the tree established the
physical problem within the sonnet. The physical problem within the sonnet was the tree
blockaded the path of the travelers. After Frost described the physical struggle within the sonnet,
he described the outcome. Frost stated, Steer straight off [the path]... The travelers took a
different path to overcome the fallen tree. Overall the literal meaning of the sonnet was described
as a group of travelers built a new path, after a tree fell and blocked their trail. The literal meaning
of Frost s sonnet was described through his use of imagery.
Frost communicated his purpose of the sonnet through a metaphor. The pathway was symbolic of
life and the fallen tree was symbolic for trials individuals face in their lifetime. The psychological
problem was overcome through the strength of the travelers. The narrator proclaimed his

Double Standard of Masculinity in Gender Role Socialization
Masculinity is a topic that has been debated in our society extensively, through research as well as
in informal settings. Many wonder what it means to be masculine, and if we can really assign a
definition to such a subjective term. After all, shouldn t one s own perception be the determinant of
what constitutes masculinity? This self construction would be the ideal in our society, but
unfortunately, it represents a false belief. Masculinity has certain characteristics assigned to it by
our culture. In this paper I will explore the many facets of masculinity and demonstrate how certain
beliefs pertaining to it are perpetuated in our society. I will also uncover many of the contradictions

Most of what a young boy learns about what it means to be masculine is presented to him at such
an early stage that he accepts it as an inevitable truth. Often young boys can be found taunting
and even motivating each other with phrases like Don t be a (sissy) girl or Only girls do that. It
seems that there is a pervasive fear among all males that the worst possible insult is to be labeled
a female. William Betcher reports that some societies take this concept to an extreme. He talks
of the initiation rites of the Sambia of New Guinea saying, Initiation rites begin when boys are
seven to ten years old and include oral ingestion of older boys semen and painful bleeding by
sticking grass reeds up the nose. The bleeding is a counterpart of menstruation and semen is
ingested instead of mother s milk (Betcher 1993). Although these actions seek to mark the boy as
not a woman , ironically they incorporate basic feminine biologic functions that men lack. br br
Secondary socialization then acts in the later stages of a boy s life to reaffirm society s beliefs
about masculinity. As boys grow older, their bodies develop and they enter junior high and high
school. At this point they begin to really understand that physical prowess and largess are the
ideal. To see how this is done, we can simply look at the emphasis given to athletics versus the
emphasis given to academics in public schools. Understandably, how schools emphasize athletics
over academics is going to

Reverse Logistic
REVERSE LOGISTICS
DEFINATION:
Flow of surplus or unwanted material, goods, or equipment back to the firm, through its logistics
chain, for reuse, recycling, or disposal.
In other words, reverse logistics is the management of any type of returns from any customer with
a specific purpose. Products can be returned from any player within the supply chain or from the
end user for different reasons. Raw material, work in process or finished goods can be returned
when there are surplus or leftovers during the customer s production due to changes in
manufacturing plan. Products maybe recalled for quality issues. Damaged product/package in

IMPORTANCE OF REVERSE LOGISTICS:
Earlier companies did not pay much attention to reverse logistics. However, now due to consumer
awareness, law enforcement on disposal of certain goods makes it very important for companies to
manage an efficient reverse logistics. Now a days, companies are even getting ISO certification for
their returns process.
Reverse Logistics Activities:
It can include a variety of activities depending on whether the goods are returned from a
customer (end user) or a distributor, whether the goods sent back is a packaging material or a
product and similar other factors. If it is a product then activities like refurbish, recondition,
remanufacture, recycle, landfill, etc. can be performed. If it is a packaging material, reuse,

To reduce costs, firms attempt to reuse materials as much as possible. For products that cannot be
reused in anyway due to its poor condition, legal implications, environmental issues, etc. firms then

Jury Duty In Canada s Jury System
In Canada, jurors are poorly paid and most of the times, jurors suffer from personal hardship. In

have fought fervently to protect it even to their own death. Yet our freedom and our protected
rights are at odds with the power and influence of money at all levels of government; none more
obvious than those in Washington. It is precisely this freedom that makes the concept of interest
groups and lobbyists a part of our democracy s dilemma. In The Interest Group Society, Jeffrey M.
Berry and Clyde Wilcox state: The dilemma is this: If government does not allow people to pursue
their self interest, it takes away their political freedom...although the alternative permitting people to
advocate whatever they want is far more preferable, it also... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In The Sound of Money, How Political Interests Get What They Want, Darrell M. West and
Burdett A. Loomis state Strong organization and control of financial resources have allowed
many interest groups to exercise substantial even disproportionate influence in American politics
(205). Those with the most money and deepest pockets have the greatest resources in order to
provide favors to legislators. It is with this money and its power that bonds and relationships are
created allowing a lobbyist to ask for favors. In turn, these favors result in legislation that benefits
the interest group. This creates serious problems in terms of representation. To the extent that
elected officials listen more to or are influenced by those who are wealthy...it skews out
representational system in favor of the haves over the have nots (West and Loomis 229). This
means the sector that primarily benefits from interest groups are big businesses. The wealthy
corporations attain the most benefits and their self interests become the forefront in Washington.
West and Loomis expand on their point in saying: The dilemma for democracy is that not
everyone has equal access to financial resources necessary for often elaborate efforts. If there were
rough equity among various interests, money would not be so problematic. However, when a few
interests have large amounts of money and many have little, democracy

Vegetative Growth Characters Of Broad Bean Plants
This study included three experiments that were conducted during the winter seasons of 2013/2014
(one experiment) and 2014 2015 (two experiments).
4.1 Frist season of 2013/2014 One experiment was designed to investigate the effect of three plant
spacing (20, 30 and 40 cm), three humic acid (HA) rates (control, 1000 and 2000 mg l 1), three
boron (B) rates (control, 100 and 200 mg l 1) and their interactions on the vegetative growth and
earliness as well as the green pods yield of broad bean crop. The effects of the different factors that
used in this study and their interaction on the various characters of broad bean plants are presented
in Tables (2 16).
4.1.1 Vegetative Growth Characters The results... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The data showed that application of B had no significant influence on plant height, branches No.
plant 1, and leaf area index (LAI) of broad bean plants. While, the boron had a significant effect
on the number of leaves plant 1 of broad bean plants. The results appeared that spraying of B on
broad bean plants resulted in a decrease in the number of leaves per plant, the lowest value of the
number of leaves plant 1 (132.2) was obtained from plants treated with 100 mg l 1, and there was
no significant effect among other levels of B.
4.1.1.4 Interaction Effects between Spacing and Humic Acid.
The statistical comparisons listed in Table (3) illustrated the presence of some interaction effects,
between spacing and HA on some vegetative growth characteristics of broad bean plants that
resulted in different relative responses for the various treatment combinations. These interaction
effects may be showed by the comparisons among the three different HA rates at each of the
different spacing of the plant height and number of leaves per plant. In wide plant spacing 40 cm,
the comparisons illustrated that the increases in HA up to 1000 or 2000 mg l 1 were associated
with significant decreases in the plant height and number of leaves per plant, which was not exactly
with spacing 20 and 30 cm.

Despereaux Themes
The Themes of Life In life, there are many impediments and afflictions that every person has to
go through in different ways. There are things in life that cannot be taught, but learning the
lessons can sometimes save the day. In the novel, The Tale of Despereaux , Kate DiCamillo uses
imagery and metaphors to convey the theme of forgiveness and light versus dark to show how
one has to forgive in order to move on and be happy. The usage of Imagery and Metaphors in this
novel brings a vivid thought to the mind of the reader. DiCamillo uses light versus dark to
symbolize the good and the bad. One of the main characters Roscuro is seen as a rat who is
urgently trying to strive for the light. In the perspective of the reader, the urgency of Roscuro...

DiCamillo provides the audience with imagery and also with the pictures she provides. Imagery
can be seen through the various illustrations that are given in the novel. The illustrations show
that Despereaux and Princess Pea are drawn with a glow or lightness around them symbolizing
the good that they have in them. Roscuro and the other rats, however, are shaded with a dark
glow around them showing how they are evil and filled with hatred. In the novel, the reader
comes to find out that Despereaux s own father has summoned him to the dungeon. Later, as the
story progresses Despereaux becomes covered with flour and other ingredients and is spotted by
his father, and at that point Despereaux forgives his father after seeing his watery eyes. The
imagery in this section gives a vivid view on how one should always learn how to forgive no
matter how wrong the situation may be. Another way that imagery is connected to the theme of
forgiveness through imagery is when the Princess Pea gives Roscuro an evil look, and that evil
look is what makes him not forgive her. The imagery provided is crucial to the story because by
Roscuro not forgiving Princess Pea he is left with the darkness in his heart that is unrepairable.
Although, Roscuro did not forgive the Pea, she in fact did forgive him at the end of the novel and
at that point Roscuro is redeemed for the damage he has done. These two scenes from

Essay on Beowulf
He killed three monsters and then he died. Not a very interesting fate, but it is none the less one
that I find myself having to write about regardless of whether or not I want to. Thus it was, the
mighty Beowulf of old England that went forth to slay the evils which plagued the lands of his
own people as well as those of his neighboring tribes. The second battle was one that was brought
about by Beowulf s willingness to go and help an old friend, and thus he nearly lost his life once
more. For those not acquainted with the story of Beowulf, he was said to be the strongest manever
to live, and given this he was fated according to their beliefs to accomplish certain things in his life.
Some of these things... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Beowulf fought Grendal without weapon and delivered a fatal injury with the removal of his
arm. Upon this injury Grendal returned to his lair where he would die and be welcomed into the
depths of Hell. The accomplishment of this great dead by Beowulf allowed him the reputation of a
hero, but this establishment would not become complete until he had beaten the great Grendal s
Mother. Which without going into great detail he did accomplish and was then thanked once more
by Hrothgar, and even offered the mighty king s kingdom. All of this is simply a testament to the
alleged fate of Beowulf, personally I like to think that I can control my own life, even though I
might have a distinct purpose, I do believe it is my responsibility to determine and then carry out
that purpose.
Upon his return home Beowulf is given a hero s welcome and celebrations run rampant. This is
nothing to say the least of what would come later. Through a process of elimination, Beowulf would
inherit the thrown of the Geat kingdom. After a ruling of fifty winters he would face what would
be his final battle, with a creature whose importance on the epic is unending was given a name
only as meager as the dragon . It was this dragon that Beowulf would yield his life too, and it
would be the end of Beowulf s fate in this world. Beowulf s, Wiglaf, would inherit the thrown after
his bravery and courage allowed

Use Of Anthropomorphism In Greek Mythology
I.Biography Greek mythology had an extensive use of anthropomorphism (anthro.) and mythical
creatures that were considered symbolic. Such as the three headed dog, who has been believed
to be the guardian of the realm of death, or hades, Cerberus. It was said that he would prevent
those who crossed The River of Death (Styx). The River of Death or Styx was supposed to be the
boundary between Earth and the Underworld; it was so long that the Underworld was encircled
nine times. Cerberus parents were half women half serpent, Echidna, and the fire breathing giant,
Typhoon. He had a two headed hell hound brother, Orthrus, and was said to be the siblings of the
Nemean Lion, Lernaean Hydra, and the Chimaera. Cerberus was born in an egg located in

Yucca Plants and Yucca Moths: A Coevolutionary Point of View

BIOL 3700: Evolution
Maxence Salomon
Introduction
According to Thompson (1994), coevolution is defined as the reciprocal evolutionary change in
interacting species . This occurs when one species has a significant effect on the survival or
reproductive success of another species and vice versa, leading to the gradual evolution of both
species. It is important to study this topic, as it is possible that the evolution of a majority of the
world s life forms was affected by the coevolution occurring between plants and insects (Smith et
al., 2009). It is generally accepted that there are three forms in which coevolution can take place ...

Coevolution in this scenario occurs by selection for those organisms from both taxa which possess
trait which allow them to take the best advantage of this mutualism relative to their conspecifics. An
example of this relationship is the plant pollinator interaction between yucca plants and yucca
moths.
While the relationship between yucca plants (Family Agavaceae) and yucca moths (Genus
Tegeticula and Parategeticula) can be defined as mutualistic, it is more than an ordinary mutualism
(Sheppard and Oliver, 2002). In a generic mutualistic relationship, both organisms gain fitness
benefits from the interaction, but are not dependent on each other for survival. In the yucca plant
yucca moth interaction, the yucca moth provides essential cross pollination services to the yucca
plant, and the yucca plant provides a predator free location for the yucca moth to lay its eggs, as
well as providing nutrition for the larvae in the form of some of its seeds (Moisett, n.d.). Since the
interaction between these two organisms is necessary for the survival of their species, it is called
an obligate mutualism (Lunau, 2004). The relationship between the yucca plants and yucca moths
serves as the theme for the remainder of this paper.
Objectives
To discuss the widely accepted hypothesis for the evolutionary mechanism behind the yucca plant
yucca moth relationship.
To discuss the pre existing adaptations required by these organisms for the facilitation of

Carbon Derivatives Market in India Executive Summary Energy security, resource conservation,
reduction of pollution and protection of natural habitats has got governments all around the world
interested in carbon trading. Investor interest in the emerging global carbon credit market has
created apt conditions for risk management products, ranging from insurance to derivatives. The
carbon trading market allows polluting companies to pay others to cut carbon emissions on their
behalf so as to meet the reduction targets set by Kyoto Protocol. A high volume of trading in the
carbon derivatives market helps price discovery and liquidity, and in this way helps to set a clear

Similarly, the buyer can also hedge his position against rise in carbon credit prices. A high
volume of trading in this market helps price discovery and liquidity, and in this way helps to
keep down costs and set a clear price signal which helps businesses to plan investments.
Advantage India India is the second largest supplier of CERs in the world after China. Together
they control around 82% of the market. The advantage with these two countries is that they
have no obligation to reduce emissions under the Kyoto agreement and hence they have the
opportunity to invest in GHG reducing projects to earn carbon credits which can further be sold
to developed countries that have an obligation to reduce emissions. [pic] Out of the 978 projects
that have been registered under Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) of the United Nations
Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), 332 projects are from India. 543
projects are at various stage of validation or registration. All these projects from India are
expected to yield close to 400 million CERs by 2012. The market to buy and sell such credits is
surging especially in Europe where most countries have signed the U.N. Kyoto Protocol to curb
CO2 emissions. The value of global carbon markets grew by 80 percent from 2006 to 2007,
reaching $60 billion in 2007, according to consulting group Point Carbon. In

Emerson History Analysis
Ashleigh Ramsey Ramsey 1
Mr.Kirkindoll
AP U.S. History Third Hour

Universal
Emerson s opinion on history in his essay History is thought provoking. Emerson often views
history as a prevalent or universal mind . This universal mind is common and accessible to all
men. History is often viewed as the record of the universal mind and is also contained in that
universal mind. Therefore, Emerson is able to say, Man is explicable by nothing less than all his
history . Emerson tends to believe in a certain relation between the hours of a lifetime and the
centuries of the time itself. If one thinks history is something that happened in the past, one is
mistaken. History is very similar to nature in a way. It is the universal nature which gives worth to
particular men and things. In nature there is an endless variety of things, but ... Show more content

Bringing historical to a personal level is a great way to make it relevant, and turn it from
studying the dates to the actual ideas of the people and what they valued. A mans experiences in
life are facts that he stores. Knowledge and one s life experiences are better than looking it up in a
book. An example of Emerson s universal mind is when he says, Of the Universal mind each
individual man is one more incarnation. This means that every man can contain their divine
idiosyncrasy. All of their idiosyncrasies are divined by nature, not by their personal beliefs or
choices. This interpretation is possible because there is within us the same motive that has came
from other men s thought. We are able to understand their motives through our own understanding

Emergency volunteers often have no similar protection. Some states provide benefits for registered
emergency volunteers, but those benefits are often limited. The lack of reliable benefits may be a
barrier for potential emergency volunteers. It may also discourage employers from assigning their
employees to work as emergency volunteers, because the employer s workers compensation
insurance could be responsible if the employee is injured. Injured emergency volunteers who do not
receive workers compensation benefits can file a civil liability lawsuit against the organization for
which they were working, with a more unpredictable and potentially more costly outcome.
These requirements affect a wide variety of professions, but of particular relevance in the
emergency management context are healthcare professionals, architects, and engineers.
In North Carolina s VPA, emergency servicesworkers are protected for emergency services

The Ontological Files
The authors[7] presented an approach in which ontological profiles are built. Ontology is
considered to be a hierarchy of topics which is used to classify and categorise web pages. It is also
used to identify the topics in which the particular user is interested. Ontology has some existing
concepts to which interest scores are assigned. Keeping the reference ontology, these profiles are
maintained and updated. With observing the ongoing behaviour, a spreading activation algorithm
was proposed for maintaining the interest scores. So this way of the interest scores updation, the
most relevant results are brought on the top.
Each built profile is an instance of this reference ontology. A user profile may comprise of variety
of concepts which is represented as nodes. Each node is represented as a pair (Cj, IS(Cj)),where Cj
is a concept in the reference ontology and IS(Cj)is the interest score annotation for that concept.
Every concept in the profile is provided with an interest score having initial value as one.
The ontological user profile is treated as the network of concepts and the interest scores are updated
based on the activation values. These scores are updated using spreading activation algorithm[8].
Input vector is also involved to represent the current interaction of the user. When the user selects
documents, the user profile is updated and the interest scores of the existing concepts are modified
using spreading activation. by this way the web pages in which the user

The Effects Of The American Jobs Creation Act
In 2004, under George W. Bush s administration, the American Jobs Creation Act was passed. This
Act was created with the intent to boost the United States Economy by allowing a corporation with
profits overseas one year to repatriate at a noticeably low tax rate. While the corporations did
repatriate a sizeable amount of money back into the United States, they used the low tax rate to
repurchase their own stock or to pay larger dividends to their shareholders. The tax holiday did
cause a large boost in revenue for the United States Treasury. However, the American Jobs Creation
Act did not do what is so clearly in its title, it did not create jobs or invest further in the United

taxes on.
The American Jobs Creation Act of 2004 decreased the tax liability for foreign earnings
repatriated into the United States. This one time decrease lowered the maximum tax rate for
overseas profit from 35 percent to 5.25 percent. However, due to foreign tax credits, the average
tax rate corporations actually paid was 3.7 percent. The largest two types of corporations to
repatriate their foreign earnings were the pharmaceutical and technology sectors. According to a
news article written by Lynnley Browning in 2008, the tax break gave each company claiming it
an average $370 million in tax deductions (Browning 2008). During 2004 the number of United
States Corporations with foreign subsidiaries totaled around 9700. As stated above only 843
corporations participated in the Repatriation Tax Holiday. Of these 843, over 30 percent of total
repatriation is accounted for by the pharmaceutical manufacturers alone. On average these 29
pharmaceutical manufacturers each claimed a tax deduction on overseas profits of $3 billion.
The 2004 Act faced both scrutiny and support. The results from the Act can be looked at two
different ways. On one hand, the tax break brought money into the Treasury coffers that would not
have been recognized without the Repatriation Tax Holiday. The money brought into the Treasury
coffers amounted to around $18 billion. Also, while some critics say that corporations used the tax

Anorexia Vs Bulimia
Eating disorders such as anorexia or bulimia cause dramatic weight fluctuation, interfere with
normal daily life, and can permanently affect their health.Generally, eating disorders involve
self critical, negative thoughts and feelings about body weight and food, and eating habits that
disrupt normal body function and daily activities. People with anorexia have an extreme fear of
weight gain and a distorted view of their body size and shape. As a result, they strive to maintain
a very low body weight. Some restrict their food intake by dieting, fasting, or excessive exercise.
People with anorexia try to eat as little as possible, and take in as few calories as they can,
frequently obsessing over food intake. Bulimia is characterized by habitual binge eating and
purging.
Some research suggests that media images contribute to the rise in the incidence of eating
disorders. Most celebrities in advertising, movies, TV, and sports programs are very thin, and this
may lead girls to think that the ideal of beauty is extreme thinness. ... Show more content on

Gulf Real Estate Properties Case
Gulf Real Estate Properties has gathered information on condominium sales in the gulf coast of
Mexico to provide information on the current real estate market. Condominium characteristics
are listed along with list price, sale price and days to sell. Condominiums characteristics are
classified by Gulf Views and Non Golf Views. We will take the information provided to conduct
an analysis that will assist other parties in understanding the real estate market of the Gulf Coast.
First, we found that the average (mean) figures for the Gulf View condominiums are: List price
$537,080, Sell price $515,800, days to sell 186.65. From these figures and the data provided, we
can calculate outliers of the Interquartile range. The Interquartile range is a series of figures taken
from data that are clustered to a central figure, the mean (Elizabeth Staple, 2015). The median for
the list price is $480,000, the first quartile figure is $331,000 and the third quartile is $666,000.
The first and third... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We estimate with a 95% certainty that the mean will be included in a 112 sample size. As well,
management requested a sales mean estimate for the No Gulf view category with an allowed
standard error of $15,000. We estimate with 95% certainty that the No Gulf view condominiums
will have a mean with in 32 samples. Finally, management has added two listing, one for a Gulf
View at $589,000 and a No Gulf View at $285,000. Using our correlation coefficients, we notice
that there is a very close correlation between listing price and selling price, representedby .998 for
Gulf views and .993 No Gulf Views. In addition if we create a ratio of mean listing price to sale
price. For example, we use the sale price and divide it by the list price, 515.8 / $537.08 = .96 and
multiply this result by 100 to get a percentage of 96%.Therefore we calculate that the sale price will
be $565,440 for a Gulf View

Why I Want For A Pharmacist
Just because you graduated from a university doesn t mean your days of studying are over says a
woman named Rosemary Killeen. Throughout my life I have been divulged with many different
questions on what I want to be when I get older. I always had vacillated between I am not really
sure yet and I wantto be a professional athlete . But now that I have sat down to think about it I
realized that I would like to be a pharmacist. A pharmacist is a person who is professionally
qualified to prepare and dispense medical drugs. I think that being a pharmacist would be good
for me because I would like to be in the health field but working as a surgeon is not my type of
thing. As you read on you soon will find out the history of a pharmacist, what you need to obtain
being a pharmacist, a description of being a pharmacist, and why this job is for me. Pharmacycan be
traced far back into history. According to Pharmacy, the first known production of medicine
substance was around 6th century BC, however the earliest text of pharmacy can be dated back
to the 3rd or 4th AD. Ancient Egyptian s knowledge on pharmacy was originally written on
papyrus. The earliest known complete filling of medicine was done by the Hindu. One famous
pharmacist named John Pemberton was actually the man that invented Coca Cola. I really think it
is bizarre that a pharmacist to be the person that would invent a kind of pop let alone Coca Cola.
Coca Cola is one of the most popular drinks in not only the US

  • 7. Essay on Reproductive and Therapeutic Cloning There are two types of cloning, one of them is reproductive cloning which is when a whole organism is cloned and therapeutic cloning is the cloning of cells, organs or tissues. Cloning is when two cells decide or are forced to duplicate into two cells to replicate each other. Cloning can be done deliberately or naturally; and it results in two copies having identical cells, DNA, genes, organs and organisms. Cloningis a common, ongoing, debatable topic among society today. Many people argue about how future scientific advances in cloning will affect society. Most often people dislike the idea of cloning because it goes against their ethical beliefs, or because they are in fear of it ending up in the wrong hands. But sometimes when the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Those who do not have enough confidence in the matter might argue that someone could create super soldiers for war, but with everything comes limitations and law. No matter how many laws are put into place, there will always be people there to either abide by them or to break them. As long as the limitations keep such horrible things from happening and there are officers and the government to aid, then there is no issue. Also, because there are many benefits to cloning and since not everyone believes in a god why should religion be used in making decisions for people where religious morality is not even an issue? The beliefs of some people should not deprive others of the benefits of cloning. There are those with religious beliefs who think that taking antibiotics or receiving blood transfusions is wrong, but this does not stop the rest of the world from receiving the benefits from them. Science is based on experimentation and observation, while religion is based on faith and things that can not be proven. Making a law based on a religious belief goes against our Constitution. A human clone is and should be thought of as a regular human, they are entitled to have the same basic rights as everyone else. Whether the government bans cloning or not, it is inevitably going to take place. The discovery has been made and curious scientists are not just going to leave it alone. Decisions on ... • 8. New Englander s Opposition Of The War Of 1812 New Englander s Opposition to the War of 1812 The War of 1812 was predominantly fought between the United States and the United Kingdom for a variety of complex reasons but most notably was caused by Britain s inability to treat the newly freed America as anything but a colonial body. Americans were overall outraged into war by their own government s sanctioned trade embargoes, the impressments of seamen by the United Kingdom, and interpersonal negative sentiments that greatly restricted America s trade with European nations (including the vital trade with Britain) and in effect: America s economy. American leaders at this point slightly miscalculated the effort by deciding to invade Canada as the only viable way to properly attack Great Britain; this created an aggressive beginning on America s part in this obscure war. The Treaty of Ghent ended the conflict in 1815 and said nothing about the major issues that caused the war and did not conclude in a victory for either side; it called for the return of preceding conditions before the war and did little to nothing to solve the tensions between these two major nations: the United States and the United Kingdom. So how did Americans feel about this unclear war? The War of 1812is America s most unpopular war as it is largely forgotten in our history. The New Englanders specifically opposed the war, with some Republicans lending a hand in the anti war effort. At this time New England was politically dominated by the ... • 10. Laryn Murray Research Paper Laryn Murray, Freshman, inspired by her father, has been playing basketball for the majority of her life, and looking at her current basketball resume, it seems like that time spent toward shooting hoops has paid off. Murray is the only freshman basketball player on the varsity team, which is no small feat. She is a great role player for the the team, providing a quick minute or two break for the starting guards whenever they need it. She looks comfortable out there, she doesn t look like a freshman. She compliments us well, and gives us a few minutes here and there, which makes us a deeper and better team. Varsity coach Hannah Alexander said. She kind of a little spark for the team. One such treatment is known as conductive education (CE). The basic idea is that people with motor disorders (e.g. cerebral palsy) may have special learning disabilities on top of their motor impairments (Darrah et al., 2003). While initial results seemed promising, two reviews showed that many of the studies produced conflicting results, and that more robust studies were needed in order to come to a conclusion about CE (Forssberg et al., 2000; Darrah et al., 2003). Yet another alternative treatment is goal directed training. Goal directed training is a method where specific goals and interventions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It does this by weakening the muscle that it is injected into, effectively relaxing the stiff muscles in cerebral palsy (Bihari, 2005). Additionally, BoNT A injections can increase the motor functionality of a patient and reduce or prevent deformity (Apkon Cassidy, 2010). The effects are reversible, so after this time period has passed, BoNT A must be reinjected into the muscle. The main focus of the injections are for spastic or dystonic muscles. Some, though, have shown that whilst BoNT A injections are helpful in the upper and lower extremities, there is conflicting evidence regarding motor function (Delgado et al., 2010). BoNT A injections may even be combined with any number of physiotherapies, occupational therapies, orthotics or casting as described above to increase its effectiveness (Novak et al., 2013). With these other measures, walking performance and hand functionality improved (Novak et ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Implications of Health Economic Concepts of Health Care Healthcare is an industry that encompasses various factors to ensure that it s operating efficiently. Health care professionals have an obligation to comprehend the role that health economics plays in regards to the demand and utilization of health care. The government plays an enormous part in areas such as financing and the delivery of care; therefore, the organization s decision maker must learn the economic functions and its benefits to the health care sector. Health Measures The two components that are used to assess health measures are morbidity and mortality. Morbidity is the percentage of individuals diagnosed with certain conditions along with the number of hospitalizations. Pregnancy has the potential cause other conditions that were not present before conceiving. Diabetes and hypertension are two health conditions that can occur during pregnancy. According to Kilpatrick Berg (2016), Identifying morbidity in post partum women can be based on ICU admissions and blood transfusion that exceeds four units of blood. The more people with ideal health will lower the morbidity rate, however as health declines and new conditions arise that will contribute to an increase in morbidity rates. • 13. American History X By Tony Kaye And Written By David Mckenna American History X Almost one week before I started to take this class, I watched American History X for the first time. When I learned we are going to do this project, this movie was on my mind and I did not surprise at all when I saw it in our movie list. Since the beginning of the semester, everything related to multiculturalism in this movie is becoming clearer to me. Multiculturalism is a huge issue, especially the country like the US which has many different races. One of the first things I learned about multiculturalism is; it can be both negative or positive ways. If the different races do not accept each other, it can be interpreted in a negative way. This movie is a great example of showing the negative way of the multiculturalism. I see a really big conflict between races in the movie. American History X is a 1998 American crime drama film which directed by Tony Kaye and written by David McKenna. Edward Norton is the lead actor as Derek. Even though he is one of my favorite actors, I never had a chance to watch this movie before. After I watched his tremendous performance in this movie, I understand why the Academy nominated him the second time for the best actor award. One interesting fact about the movie, even though it is about multicultural issues in the US, we see everything from a white point of view. As a result, Academy chooses a white actor as nominee for the award as usual. It is just so interesting to me. The story of the movie is about two ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In general, numerous studies have been investigating L1 transfer. In specific, the influence of Arabic, more specifically Saudi Arabic, in learning English has been examined to demonstrate the native language transfer in L2 learning (Binturki, 2008; Grami and Alzughaibi, 2012; among others). Based on the influence of L1 and universal markedness (things that are present in a small number of languages), Eckman (1977) proposes the Markedness Differential Hypothesis (MDH). It helps predicting errors that L2 learners will have based on a comparison between L1 and L2 and universal markedness. The aim of the present study is to examine to what extent the MDH can account for mispronunciation of word final voiced stops by Saudi Arabian learners of English. The results of this study contradict the MDH. Despite the fact that both Saudi Arabic and English have voiced stops word finally, the Saudi Arabian learners did not produce the voiced stops in coda positions correctly. The subjects tended mostly to either substitute or devoiced final voiced stops. This paper will start with a brief discretion of the word final voiced stops (/b d g/) in Saudi Arabic and English. • 16. Limitations Of UN Peacekeeping 4. LIMITATIONS OF PEACEKEEPING Limitations of UN Peacekeeping have been exposed time and again. The alterations caused by these limitations have now been incorporated in the operational structure. The influence of a UN Peacekeeping Operation, too, depends on extent of involvement of various actors, whose conduct depends greatly on assessment of strategic interests. So, the characterization of United Nations as an international authority which could issue directives to enforce its mandate would be an overstatement as previous missions have demonstrated. There have been calls for overhauling the UN Peacekeeping structure. A High level independent panel on peace operations was appointed by Ban Ki moon, former Secretary General of United Nations in October, 2014 to review the state of UN Peacekeeping Operations. A major concern shared by all panel members which was also earmarked as an essential shift in the future process was the emphasis laid on striving towards a political solution rather than an attempt to diffuse the crisis by military means alone. Political instability has been at the roots of many conflicts, which the UN has sought to defuse by deployment of peacekeeping missions. Most missions failed to address the larger issue of restoring stability, on account of the fact that military interventions change the dynamics of regional security forever. Also, removal of a regime could lead to further deterioration of the conflict as political vacuum created by such removal and facilitating the creation of an interim proxy regime has challenges of its own. Taking out governments/rulers is perceived as the most effective immediate response to any call for intervention. The real challenge for international community arises after a successful throw over, as it pushes the country towards a political crisis. It is this situation that world/regional powers are keen on exploiting by appointing friendly rulers, with an eye on strategic interests, which is why a concerted political solution should be the primary objective of the international community to avoid complications. • 17. Flawed News And Public Opinions Essay Flawed News and Public Opinions TV Journalism has been degraded to the point in which true factual and informative reporting free of bias has been replaced with short news bytes centered and focused on its entertainment value alone. Within the political process, this has mostly served as a disservice to both politicians and the general public audience. Edward J Epstein published a book entitled News from Nowhere in which he observed NBC s news department and how decisions were made on what was news worthy. He discovered a decline in television network ratings and profits caused executives to change marketing strategies. This new direction in news reporting would be tailored to an audience low in sophistication with the network defining what would be newsworthy. Epstein wrote: Dull and complicated stories would need to be of enormous importance to get on the air: but relatively trivial stories would make the cut if interesting enough . (Edwards, p. 406). Supporting this observation Washington Post editors Leonard Downie Jr and Robert Kaiser argue that Entertainment has pushed out information in the TV news business and that the history of TV news can be summarized in a couple sentences . (Edwards, p. 406). An exception to this practice would be networks assigning their best reporters to cover major events or Lead Stories at well established sources such as the White House, Congress, or the Pentagon. When a company makes a product from raw materials bought from a supplier and sell it to a customer then, there is a supply chain in place (Murray, 2014).Each product has a different series of steps that transform the raw materials into finished products, events in the supply chain lead to this conversion. Supply chain represents the flow of information and finances also and not just materials. Here, information means the knowledge of delivery dates and stock updates. Materials flow in the direction of the supply chain while finances flow in the opposite direction and information flows in both the directions (Renganathan, 2014). Surgical site infections occur when a patient experiences infection following surgery, often as a direct result of the care received in a hospital or other medical facility. While these infections can often be easily treated while the patient is still at the hospital, the incidences of these infections can have significant and lasting impacts on patients and the hospitalitself, even resulting in a patient s death if the infection is not detected and treated appropriately. Since these infections occur while patients are under the care of professionals and during hospital stays, it is imperative that all involved in patient care follow procedures and policies established by the facility to reduce the risk of infections in patients. This involves not only information about surgical site infections and their prevention, but the impact of these infections on patients, hospitals, and staff members, as well as how surgical site infections impacts a facility s accreditation. Technology has modified our abilities to expand our communication network, and it allows companies to spread their commercials over many different continents. Research done by Roberts (1993) shows that adolescent and children are often very influenced by media that involves sexual or violent conduct. This research is based on media involving children and adolescents, however this does not eliminate the effect media has on adults (Singer Singer, 2001, p. 269). The woman can merely be a narcissistic projection that comes from the male, unconsciously. Robert J. Stoller stated that Fetishizing is the norm of males, not for females , (Valerie Steel, 1996) Meaning that females are not interested in body parts and sexy outfits in the same way men are. Fetishistic imagery is divided into three different types: the first is a woman with a phallic substitute, secondly, a woman without a phallus usually intimidated or mocked by women with a phallus and last, a woman as the phallus. In fetishistic imagery, the true focus is always the phallus, and not the woman itself. Men attain most pleasure from viewing voyeurism and fetishistic imagery because the men starts to feel more control and power of their own lives because the men identify themselves with the male protagonist. (Gaines, 1990.) Stated in Fetish: Fashion, Sex Power (Valerie Steel, 1996), many feminists interpret fetish as a symptom of patriarchy and capitalism, where the fetishist is always male and the female becomes the fetish itself, the perfect object. Fetishism is described as glorifying by some, however others would describe it as something negative, where the woman s desire has disappeared. Women in films are usually portrayed as dependent to the male characters and it would therefor not be very likely that females would experience pleasure from looking at a female character that is influenced and dependent of the male characters, however studies show that women ... Most of what a young boy learns about what it means to be masculine is presented to him at such an early stage that he accepts it as an inevitable truth. Often young boys can be found taunting and even motivating each other with phrases like Don t be a (sissy) girl or Only girls do that. It seems that there is a pervasive fear among all males that the worst possible insult is to be labeled a female. William Betcher reports that some societies take this concept to an extreme. He talks of the initiation rites of the Sambia of New Guinea saying, Initiation rites begin when boys are seven to ten years old and include oral ingestion of older boys semen and painful bleeding by sticking grass reeds up the nose. The bleeding is a counterpart of menstruation and semen is ingested instead of mother s milk (Betcher 1993). Although these actions seek to mark the boy as not a woman , ironically they incorporate basic feminine biologic functions that men lack. br br Secondary socialization then acts in the later stages of a boy s life to reaffirm society s beliefs about masculinity. As boys grow older, their bodies develop and they enter junior high and high school. At this point they begin to really understand that physical prowess and largess are the ideal. It is precisely this freedom that makes the concept of interest groups and lobbyists a part of our democracy s dilemma. In The Interest Group Society, Jeffrey M. It is with this money and its power that bonds and relationships are created allowing a lobbyist to ask for favors. In turn, these favors result in legislation that benefits the interest group. Roscuro and the other rats, however, are shaded with a dark glow around them showing how they are evil and filled with hatred. In the novel, the reader comes to find out that Despereaux s own father has summoned him to the dungeon. This occurs when one species has a significant effect on the survival or reproductive success of another species and vice versa, leading to the gradual evolution of both species. It is important to study this topic, as it is possible that the evolution of a majority of the world s life forms was affected by the coevolution occurring between plants and insects (Smith et al., 2009). Coevolution in this scenario occurs by selection for those organisms from both taxa which possess trait which allow them to take the best advantage of this mutualism relative to their conspecifics. An example of this relationship is the plant pollinator interaction between yucca plants and yucca moths. While the relationship between yucca plants (Family Agavaceae) and yucca moths (Genus Tegeticula and Parategeticula) can be defined as mutualistic, it is more than an ordinary mutualism (Sheppard and Oliver, 2002). In a generic mutualistic relationship, both organisms gain fitness benefits from the interaction, but are not dependent on each other for survival. In the yucca plant yucca moth interaction, the yucca moth provides essential cross pollination services to the yucca plant, and the yucca plant provides a predator free location for the yucca moth to lay its eggs, as well as providing nutrition for the larvae in the form of some of its seeds (Moisett, n.d.). Since the interaction between these two organisms is necessary for the survival of their species, it is called an obligate mutualism (Lunau, 2004). The relationship between the yucca plants and yucca moths serves as the theme for the remainder of this paper. She was quite enthusiastic about the program as it provides: A network of professional building inspectors, structural engineers, and architects to form damage survey teams that could be used by State and local governments in need of help surveying damage and evaluating structures following a ... To address their needs, many emergency management statutes now protect registered emergency volunteers from civil liability, provide emergency volunteer injury benefits, and recognize licenses, certificates, and permits from other states. http://www.citizencorps.gov/downloads/pdf /Citizen_Corps_Volunteer_Liability_Guide.pdf Injury benefits for emergency volunteers Emergency volunteers often have no similar protection. Some states provide benefits for registered emergency volunteers, but those benefits are often limited. The lack of reliable benefits may be a barrier for potential emergency volunteers. It may also discourage employers from assigning their employees to work as emergency volunteers, because the employer s workers compensation insurance could be responsible if the employee is injured. Injured emergency volunteers who do not receive workers compensation benefits can file a civil liability lawsuit against the organization for which they were working, with a more unpredictable and potentially more costly outcome. These requirements affect a wide variety of professions, but of particular relevance in the emergency management context are healthcare professionals, architects, and engineers. • 51. The Ontological Files The authors[7] presented an approach in which ontological profiles are built. Ontology is considered to be a hierarchy of topics which is used to classify and categorise web pages. It is also used to identify the topics in which the particular user is interested. Ontology has some existing concepts to which interest scores are assigned. Keeping the reference ontology, these profiles are maintained and updated. With observing the ongoing behaviour, a spreading activation algorithm was proposed for maintaining the interest scores. So this way of the interest scores updation, the most relevant results are brought on the top. Each built profile is an instance of this reference ontology. A user profile may comprise of variety of concepts which is represented as nodes. Each node is represented as a pair (Cj, IS(Cj)),where Cj is a concept in the reference ontology and IS(Cj)is the interest score annotation for that concept. Every concept in the profile is provided with an interest score having initial value as one. The ontological user profile is treated as the network of concepts and the interest scores are updated based on the activation values. These scores are updated using spreading activation algorithm[8]. Input vector is also involved to represent the current interaction of the user. When the user selects documents, the user profile is updated and the interest scores of the existing concepts are modified using spreading activation. by this way the web pages in which the user ... This Act was created with the intent to boost the United States Economy by allowing a corporation with profits overseas one year to repatriate at a noticeably low tax rate. While the corporations did repatriate a sizeable amount of money back into the United States, they used the low tax rate to repurchase their own stock or to pay larger dividends to their shareholders. The tax holiday did cause a large boost in revenue for the United States Treasury. However, the American Jobs Creation Act did not do what is so clearly in its title, it did not create jobs or invest further in the United States. The American Jobs Creation Act of 2004 decreased the tax liability for foreign earnings repatriated into the United States. This one time decrease lowered the maximum tax rate for overseas profit from 35 percent to 5.25 percent. However, due to foreign tax credits, the average tax rate corporations actually paid was 3.7 percent. The largest two types of corporations to repatriate their foreign earnings were the pharmaceutical and technology sectors. According to a news article written by Lynnley Browning in 2008, the tax break gave each company claiming it an average $370 million in tax deductions (Browning 2008). During 2004 the number of United States Corporations with foreign subsidiaries totaled around 9700. As stated above only 843 corporations participated in the Repatriation Tax Holiday. Of these 843, over 30 percent of total repatriation is accounted for by the pharmaceutical manufacturers alone. On average these 29 pharmaceutical manufacturers each claimed a tax deduction on overseas profits of $3 billion. The 2004 Act faced both scrutiny and support. The results from the Act can be looked at two different ways. On one hand, the tax break brought money into the Treasury coffers that would not have been recognized without the Repatriation Tax Holiday. The money brought into the Treasury coffers amounted to around $18 billion. Also, while some critics say that corporations used the tax break ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
