Bucculatrix Ainsliella
IntroductionBucculatrix ainsliella Murtfeldt is a skeletonizing species of Lepidoptera that can
cause excessive damage to both forest and urban environments. Causal Agent The Oak Leaf
Skeletonizer, Bucculatrix ainsliella is in the order Lepidoptera, which categorizes it as a
defoliator in its larval stages (Gelok et al. 1998; Klass 1985; Van Nieukerken et al. 2012). It is a
native species to Eastern United States and was once limited to Southern Canada and the
Eastern coast of the United States to Mississippi (Baker 1972; Frank and Foltz 1997; Gelok et
al. 1998). Since 1905, it is now found throughout Europe including the Netherlands, Belgium,
and Germany (Murtfeldt 1905; Van Nieukerken et al. 2012). Bucculatrix ainsliella is a foliage
feeding lepidopteran species that causes defoliation on oak trees, specifically red (Quercus rubra)
and black (Quercus velutina) oaks. The first instar larval stage are leafminers, which burrow into
the leaf and consume the nutrients between the layers of the leaf. Once they progress into the
final instar larval stage they start to defoliate the trees. This stage of Bucculatrix ainsliella
consume the external underside of the leaf, leaving the veins, which causes the leaves of the oaks
to become less efficient in producing photosynthate (Baker 1972; Gelok et al. 1998; Klass 1985;
Van Nieukerken et al. 2012). At the end of the final instar larval stage, they build 3 millimeter...

In forest ecosystems, heavy defoliation occurs occasionally when populations of the species are
high and parasitoids are low (Klass 1985; Van Nieukerken et al. 2012). The crowns of oak trees

structure to the leaves (Gelok et al. 1998; Klass 1985; Van Nieukerken et al. 2012). Spread and

The doors of the cupboard/ room where the chemicals are stored need to be fireproof. This is
because if there is a fire and there is no fireproof door, the fire will be able to get to the chemicals
easily. Many chemicals are unstable or flammable and will increase the size of the fire. This will
increase the chances of someone getting hurt as well as increasing the probability of damage being
done to the buildings surrounding.
The chemicals are stored in order of risk and state of matter to reduce the risk of danger. Acids are
kept away from alkalis and are kept on the floor, surrounded by an absorbent called bunding which
reduces the risk if any acid spills. Flash proof lights are used because some chemicals are very
sensitive and flash proof lights reduce the risk of fire.
Fans are used to get rid of harmful fumes that may cause danger to the laboratory employees. The
different chemicals are also recorded so the laboratory employees and emergency services know
what chemicals the school has and the danger of each one. This is also done to ensure no
dangerous chemicals go missing or are taken without

WORLDCOM headquarter in Virginia, USA.
WORLDCOM S ACCOUNTING SCANDAL
WorldCom, established in 1983, whose CEO was Bernard Ebbers, was the second largest long
distance phone company in the US after AT T. It could be seen as a pride of America until it got
into one of the biggest accounting scandals in the American history which finally led to its
bankruptcy in 2002. On July 21st, 2012, WorldCom filed for bankruptcy, which was worth 103.9

There would be no effect on current net income as increasing in Equipment means increasing in
depreciation expense. Instead of being spent in the current year only, the cost is spread over many
years. At the moment, you may have the general image of the tactics that WorldCom used to cook
their books.
WorldCom announced $3.8 billion in improperly booked expenses for 2001 and 2002, and an
additional $3.3 billion in accounting errors. Moreover, WorldCom officially filed for bankruptcy
when found an accounting fraud with the amount up to $11 billion. So how did it happen? As
having mentioned, WorldCom s CEO Bernard Ebbers was convicted of being guilty for the stock
and accounting fraud, so it was obvious that the fraud occur from the management level of the
company. WorldCom s major operating expense was called line costs, which means cost paid to
lease other telephone operators network, phone lines and so on. In short, just remember that line
costs are its main operational expense. In 2000, WorldCom was actually not doing a good business,
and they somehow tried to cover the current reality by performing some magic with their
accounting stuff, and here is the thing: WorldCom was managing to cover the truth behind its
business, so according to his indictment, Mr. Scott Sullivan former CFO tried to move around the

Flora Purim was born on March 6, 1942 and grew up in Rio de Janeiro. She is the daughter of a
Romanian father and a Brazilian mother. Both of Flora s parents were amateur classical musicians
but Flora s mother brought jazz into their home. When Flora s father was at work, her mother
would bring home 78 vinyl rpm s and play them. Her initial interest in music was shaped by her
country s popular samba and a healthy dose of classical, blues, and jazz styles. Flora grew up
listening to Miles Davis, Erroll Garner, Billie Holiday, Frank Sinatra, and Dinah Washington.
Brazilian musician, Hermeto Pascoal was one of Flora s biggest musical influences. She stated

Hate Crimes Laws And Hate Crime
Hate Crimes
What is a hate crime? Although the definition can vary based on what groups are included (Cogan,
2006, p. 174) the simplest definition would be, violence against a person or group of people based
on their gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, religion, race or disability (Burgess, Regehr, Roberts,
2013). Hate Crimes do not just effect the victim but also the community. Those who become victims
of hate crime are not chosen at random, it is because of the group they identify with or belong too
(Cogan, 2006, p. 174) Hate speech, defined as words used as weapons to ambush, terrorize, wound,
humiliate and degrade (Burgess et al., 2013, p. 480) another person. Violence is seriously damaging

on the side of the road by three white men. Byrd, a man who was no stranger to taking rides from

their truck and dragged him for three miles before eventually being decapitated. Two of the three

Both deaths were nothing short of a tragedy. Both deaths effected their families and their
communities. Their death effected the community so much that the effects reached the White

signed into law the Hate Crimes Prevention Act. Former President George W. Busch had threated
in the past to veto this bill, but Obama brought a reversal and in October 2009 signed this act

Hidden Meaning Of Jack From Lord Of The Flies

English
3 October 2017
Character Analysis Hidden meaning can be found in many different places. They can be in poems,
novels, murals, paintings, and even in everyday life. Hidden meanings are there to challenge the
reader, to make them think and really analyze the work. In the case of the novel The Lord of The
Flies, by William Golding, the hidden meaning comes to us in the form many of his characters.
One of them is Jack. Jack started off like everyone else equal with power or a share of the things on
the island. Later on he takes a group of the kids. Now there are two groups of the kids. Showing
that sooner or later a group may later split into two groups and people will have to chose a side.

Ralph is a good leader but most of the boys follow Jacks lead because of a few reasonings and
one of them being that he can hunt and he provided them with food. Even though it was
uncooked meat at least it was protein that needed. At this point in the book William Golding has
been foreshadowing how the boys split into two tribes . One of them being Ralph and the other
of course being Jack. Ralph is the nice and kind leader who wants to get off the island. Jack is
the type of leader who rules with fear and power. His power as being able to provide meat for his
people. A fire! Make a faire! At once half the boys were on their feet. Jack clamored among them,
the conch forgotten. Come on! Follow me! The Space under the palm trees was full of noise
and movement. Ralph Was on his feet too, shouting for quiet, but no one heard him. All at once
the crowd swayed toward the island and was gone following Jack. (William Golding) Now right
he is a prime example of how the kids don t listen to Ralph anymore and they are turning towards
Jack as their main leader. Jack has made the boys think that violence and harm is a way to live.
They like it because to them it is fun, daring, and most of all it can be adventurous. This to the
boys is way more fun then making up rules and following them like how Raph has been doing.
There are a few boys that

A Fictional Technological Company Named Decisiontech, Inc.
Patrick Lenciono wrote about a fictional technological company named DecisionTech, Inc. to
illustrate how dysfunctional teams hinder the growth in every faucet of a business operation. The
story focuses on Kathryn, the new CEO, and her journey to fix the inefficiency and ineffectiveness
of the executive staff. Kathryn s primary task is to establish a system of trust and teamwork within
the executive teamby destroying the five dysfunctions, absence of trust, fear of conflict, lack of
commitment, avoidanceof accountability, and inattention to results that cripple the potential of any
team.
Within two years, DecisionTech, Inc. had built a reputation as the top technology company in the
country. They had a strong business plan that would lead them into the next stages of new
technology and investors were lining up to get a piece. Furthermore, they had young qualified
engineers submitting resume s regularly in hopes of employment. However, after a while, their
executive team developed internal conflict and was unable to lead this bright and promising
company to the next stage. Word of these actions had circulated and the company had now become
known for having personal political agendas and backstabbing; therefore, the Chairman of the board
demanded change.
Change came in the form of replacing the formal CEO and co founder, Jeff, who remained within
the company as the head of business development. His replacement, Kathryn, lacked knowledge in

Project Management Written Assignment 1 Essay examples
2012 02 MAN 435 OL009: Project Management
Written Assignment 1
1. Discuss the principal reasons why project management has become such a popular business tool
in recent years.
Business has changed in the past 20 or so years. Products are being produced more rapidly and with
the introduction of globalization competition has become more abundant. There is a need to
become more customer focused but at the same time quicker to market while still reducing cost.
Doing business the old way is just not cutting it anymore. Project management gives companies the
ability to focus on many things at once without losing focus on their core business model.
Processes become projects that have a start and finish and can be tracked and quantified ... Show

More would be expected of me than just meeting quota. 3. Describe the basic elements of the
project life cycle. Why is an understanding of the project life cycle relevant for understanding
project management?
The project life cycle consists of the conceptualization phase, the planning phase, the execution
phase, and the termination phase.
Understanding the project lifecycle is important because it is the base of all project management.
You take one phase out and the project will fail. You cannot start a project without a good scope, or
blueprint. The project lifecycle is set up so that you cannot move on to the next stage in the cycle
without going through the previous stage. I also want to mention the termination phase. This is
where you terminate the project and put together a document that explains the delays and fixes that
helped the project come to fruition. 4. Compare and contrast the three organizational structures
discussed in the text: functional, project, and matrix. Provide examples that show the difference
between the three, including some of the advantages and disadvantages of each.
There are three main organizational structure types used in business today. They are functional,
project and matrix. They each have their strong points and weaknesses. I will list the strengths and
weaknesses of each while comparing them to each other.
The functional structure is based around having similar activities grouped into

The Purchase Of Louisiana Posed Essay

Personal Responsibility
The Purchase of Louisiana posed several important moral dilemmas for American President Thomas
Jefferson; among these were the means of achieving Republican government states rights and strict
constructionism which he relented. Constructionist and a strong supporter of states rights and,
therefore, the action of purchasing Louisiana presented a moral dilemma, he was either to stick to
his principle or compromise and save the Republican government. President Jefferson believed
following the principles of constructionism and the rights of the constitution, therefore acquiring
Louisiana land made him unable to decide whether to uphold the principles compromise (Balleck).
Indeed as Jefferson attempted to help Napoleon in Santo Domingo, he quickly scrambled to
concoct a smart strategy along the Mississippi. Napoleon in Louisiana would not look good for
United States interests on Louisianan and Jefferson perceived that such a prospect may compel
him into making a quite feared alliance with Britain. Favoring clash with France to accord with
Britain, Jefferson got ready for the possibility of war. But he found two million dollars was
uncommon costs, Jefferson likewise clutched trusts that Napoleon could be purchased out of New
Orleans (Lewis).
Equipped with this cash in pocket, Jefferson sent Robert Livingston and James Monroe to France
with guidelines to buy New Orleans and a lot of Florida as they could potentially gain. From

Coso Range Shamanism
The Coso Mountain Range is located at the intersection of the Great Basin and California culture
area just above the eastern California desert. This region was left with arroyo walls, lava flows
and pyroclastic boulders covered with petroglyphs of zoomorphic and anthropomorphic images
(127). Petroglyphs are images created by carving, pecking or incising images into rock surfaces.
The most common rock art element found in the Coso Range is that of bighorn sheep (129).
Although bighorn sheep images were common in other parts of the Great Basin and the Southwest,
these elements were seen in far greater quantities in the Coso Range. The bighorn sheep image
represents more than half of the 100,000 rock art elements discovered in this region. Many... Show

This model suggest that bighorn sheep represent mythical spirit helpers that were in the center of
shamanistic activities, including hallucinations and trances. Since bighorn sheep held a minimal
role in the diet during the late Haiwee and early Marana Period, rituals performed resulted in
images of bighorn sheep being carved to attract rain to the Coso Range as a means to increase
productivity of plants. It was said that Numic men would enter a dream states or drug induced
trances during rain rituals. The mental imprints obtained during these experiences were transcribed
as rock art images. These images were thought to portray transformation of men into spirit helpers
or bighorn sheep. These half anthropomorphic, half zoomorphic figures recorded were featured as
evidence, however, problems arose with this model. For instance, this model required the rock art to
have been created post 1000BP, since the model proposes that Numic groups from the Great Basin
were the ones that brought these rituals. However, the Numic Expansion did not occur until
1000BP and bighorn sheep petroglyphs seem to have developed in the Coso Range prior to the
Numic Expansion. Also, the hallucinogens that produce the particular sequence that some have
argued these images capture were not available in prehistoric North America. In addition, the
ethnographic footing of this model is challenged since no ethnographic connection has been
proposed between the native people and the pecked images of bighorn sheep for rain making. Some
ethnographic accounts connect shamanism with the Coso region, weather control as a shamanic
activity, rain shamans with bighorn spirit helpers and rock art with shamans, but no particular
ethnographic evidence has been made to connect all concepts. This

Peace-Weaver In Beowulf
Based on the story, Beowulf by Heaney, the poet had described three types of the women role in
literature are peace weavers, hostess, and monster. First, the female role of the peace weaver in
the epic poem literature is meant to describe the woman who has married off to someone and
brings a peace to her household and the nation. Queen Wealtheow is a wife of King Hrothgar
who was an example of success among the peace weavers. She plays an active role in the society
through words of encouragement to her people to make them hand out the treasure for her heroes.
(Murphy) Therefore, the roles of Queen Wealtheow make her become a peace weaver within both
social and political realms of her life. Even she is a wife, that married to the Frisian king.... Show

Second, the female role of hostess deciphers the relationships in society and also exposes the
prejudices in the poem (Murphy). The poet has mentioned the women s role in this poem through
Queen Wealtheow s character in the mead cup. As a queen, Wealtheow is the most powerful
women, and she also is the most important women in the kingdom. As a queen, Wealtheow is fully
depicted in the Beowulf and the poet has analyzed specifically to connect with her role in the
mead hall as an excellent heart and sure of the speech. According to the authors, The mead cup
was served in order to mark the allegiance of each man in his turn to the king, whose mead hall
they occupied (Edgington). This statement shows how the hostess role of the Queen Wealtheow
was very important. She does all the duties to carry the mead cup in the hall and go around to
offer the drink to the King and the warriors before she greets Beowulf. Besides that, the queen
plays to her role as a woman speaking to all the men in the hall and reminding them with their
families, their king, country, and their obligations in life during the Anglo Saxon

The Legalization Of Abortion In The United States
Abortion, one of the most controversial ongoing issues, has become common in the United States.
There are a lot of reasons defending the legalization of abortion. However, understanding the
medical information and perspectives on abortion can solve this controversial issue. Unlike the
common knowledge that abortion is performed in an unsafe setting and has the potential long term
complications, abortion is actually performed by professions and has few complications if it is
performed within twelve weeks of pregnancy. First of all, abortion is a method to terminate a
pregnancy by using medicine or surgery to remove the fetus from the uterus. It always has been a
part of human culture since long time ago. One of the most common reasons of... Show more

However, the beginning of human life cannot be determined and extends beyond the knowledge
of medicine. The problem of the moral status of the fetus is done by experiences, religious and
philosophical beliefs, moral belief, and so on. Medicine does not ability to establish when the
moral status on the fetus occurs. Moreover, the fetus within 12 weeks is not fully developed, so
arguing about the fetus s moral fetus is somewhat unreasonable and unnecessary. According to
Elizabeth Harman, inaccessible facts determine a fetus s moral status. We can t ever know how to
treat an early fetus, because we can t be sure of its moral status. (Harman). Furthermore, the
fetuses cannot feel pain during abortion (Rosenfield). According to Stuart W. G. Derbyshire,
necessary to the development of pain experience is also yet to occur. (Derbyshire), and there is no
evidence that brain and neurological system are developed enough even at twenty four weeks for
the fetus to experience pain (Rosenfield). Arguing about something that has not proven is not right.
Even though today s medical techniques have been developing rapidly, there are certainly some
concepts that cannot be proven with them. Abortion may be performed naturally or artificially.
Abortion that occurs within the first twenty weeks is called a miscarriage and after twenty weeks
is called a stillbirth. The types of surgical abortion procedure are varied on the stage

The Theme Of Madness In Shakespeare, By William Shakespeare
Madness can be defined as the state of mental delusion/ mentally ill or showing extremely foolish
/eccentric behavior which begins with anger. The incorporation of madness in literature has been
a long standing tradition and can be encountered in these three works: King Lear by William
Shakespeare where he tells the story about King Lear whose madness has been promoted by his
two daughters, Regan and Goneril, Daddy by Sylvia Plath, where she reveals her anguish at her
father s death, she also discloses an eccentric behavior of attempting a suicide, and Medea by
Euripides, where we can encounter madness through the actions of Medea after being spurned by
her husband Jason. Insanity occupies a central place in these pieces of literature and... Show more

King Lear slowly starts to descend in the complexity of insanity and his first sign of madness can
be seen through this quote ...Look look, a mouse! Peace, peace; this piece of toasted cheese will
do it...OH, well flown, bird! (Act IV.6. 88 91). Over time, he starts to realize that he made
himself fall into this trap and Regan and Goneril are the reason for his madness and lastly, he
learns to conquer his madness; however, it leads to a misfortune. On the other hand, Edgar, the
son of Gloucester pretends to be a madman and decides to live the life of a beggar due to
Edmund evil intentions (Act 3, Scene 4). In this scenario, Edgar is able to save and live his life
better even if the world considers him insane. Edgar as a character symbolizes madness the most
in King Lear. His loss of identity as a noble can be seen as a form of madness. Obsession is a
form of insanity that can be discovered in Daddy by Sylvia Plath where the author shows hatred
towards her own obsession with her dead father. With the use of literary devices, she expresses
her emotion towards the male figures in her life causes of her insanity. Plath faces rejection from
the society and from her family which leads to her insanity. An example of her cutting off from
the society can be seen in lines 69 70, The black telephone s off at the root, The voices just can t

Politics And The United States Government
When it comes to the topic of political parties such as Democrats and Republicans, most of our
country will readily agree that they continue to dominate the United States Government. Where this
agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of which political party suits the country best.
Throughout the media, internet, and the general public, there are constant debates on which party
should be in control of the U.S. There is no actual answer to that question. Politics have a huge grip
on the nation, even going as far as hiring journalist that are right winged or left winged in hopes of
getting the reader to side with them. Democrats and Republicans are two different parties with
different views on just about everything when it comes to politics and running the United States. So
some may wonder, well what is a political party in the first place and why does it matter which
one to join? Well according to We The People , an American politics book written by Benjamin

definition of a political party states, Political parties, like interest groups, are organized groups that
attempt to influence the government by electing their members to government offices. (Ginsberg,

The Man Who Was Thursday Literary Analysis
Terror(ism) in Literature:
The Man Who Was Thursday :
A Review
Authors either use terror as a topic or theme in order to justify the acts of the artist as revolutionist
or as terror ist. This paper aims to indicate the relation between terror as an essential mode in art and
literature in the form of textuality with reference to The Man Who Was Thursday. Gilbert Keith
Chesterton s enigmatic novel, with its humorous tone and fantastic elements contending crucial
arguments, stresses its paradoxical situation regarding terror(ism) in the subtitle: A Nightmare. Yet,
the optimistic end and the function of dream to reveal the mythical essence of terror(ism) ironizes

It is a detective story, a fantastic tale, a political treatise, and a thriller narrated in poetic prose, and
deals with terror(ism) in relation to both art and theological doctrines. The Biblical allusions and
analogies are interspersed among the existential, profane, and anarchical contentions. Chesterton s
artifice lies in creating mysterious plot with a remarkably poetic language, yet his skill to make
conventionally significant things look ridicule should not be overlooked. In this novel, he plays
with the notions and norms welcomed by mobs, secured by governments, and consecrated by
religious tenets. Through disguises, Chesterton questions our perception of reality, politically
convinced plight, and orthodox either or logic. Terror(ism) which is obscured by the enigmatic
characters and farcical style of narration is the pivotal topic that is questioned and whereby
broader issues are inquired into. The two characters who are both poets with opposite world views,

Three Types of Friends Essay
A friend is defined as someone emotionally close or somebody who trusts and is fond of another.
The affect that a person one calls his or her acquaintance can sometimes be very deep and
heartfelt. From my experience, I have encountered three types of friends: the chronic complainer,
the staller, and the know it all. A chronic complainer is a he or she that is fault finding. Chronic
complainers choose to blame someone else or something for his or her actions. Also, they are
uncertain about what should be done. I have this friend that I consider a chronic complainer; she
never takes the blame for anything and no matter what the situation is she s going to find a
problem. There have been plenty of times that we would go out to eat, and our... Show more content

The staller would not be of any help with moving or any other hard job. The person I know that
fits this description is not a friend but actually a family member. This person comes to do the
simplest job ever, but has to call two or three more people to come help him out. Instead of him
helping he stands there and gives out orders to everyone else. He also dose not get his important
business handled; he likes to sit around and wait until the last minute or until it s too late before
he tries to do anything about a situation. This is not someone who you would want helping you
with some very important job. Last but not least is the know it all. The know it all acts superior
and makes others feel stupid. They also maybe bullheaded and impatient; know it alls really don
need or want any help. One of my closest friends is a prime example of a know it all. She knows
everything that is discussed and want let anyone else put there say so in about the topic. One
day one of my cousins and I were talking about the cost of daycare and she just cut both of us off
and went on talking about the different costs. She didn t know what she was talking about
because she dose not have any kids. So when I cut her off and went to correcting her she got so
mad with me because what I was saying made more sense than what she was saying. Know it alls

Exercise At Your Body Weight
I always like to exercise to maintain my body weight because it helps me to get an energy and I
feel very light like a feather. Also, it helps me to make new friends because my friend and I can
motivate each other and share experience. However, I have a problem to maintain my normal
weight which is overeating. I always overeat more because I usually eat ice cream, pudding for
desserts after the meal. Therefore, I wantto learn how to stop overeating at every meal to maintain
my weight and avoid desserts as soon as possible. Furthermore, I want to get into my normal
routine schedule again, so that I can manage the diet and change my clothing style to look
skinny and maintain muscles in my body. I want to stop overeating because overeating behavior
affect my lifestyle. I cannot focus on my duties such as finishing homework, cleaning my room,
and doing the laundry because I do not want to deal with these right away. Furthermore, I gained
my weight a lot for due to my overeating behavior so that some of my clothes were small so I
want to change this behavior to change my style of clothing as well. Therefore, I want to learn
how to manage my calories so that I will balance my diet in more productive and smart ways. Also,
I want to change my overeating habit because this habit interrupts my exercise. I usually go to gym
three times every week except for weekends, because I have classes in three days per week now.
However, I could not go to gym more often these days

Competitive Strategy Of KFC
Background of the study
Supply chain management plays a very crucial role in the success of any organization and how it
can cater to a customer s need and provide the maximum satisfaction. Supply chain management is
essentially managing the flow of goods/services of an organization. It involves raw materials
storage, transportation, inventory management, distribution and procurement.
Effective supply chain has gained a very high prominence in the current market scenario. The
numerous amounts of demands from the customers has increased significantly over the past
decades. They not only expect a reliable and good quality product/service, they also want it to be
delivered to them well in time. The decline in product life cycle and the quick ... Show more content

The fast food chain has differentiated their process of manufacturing by ensuring a unique type of
products. Also, they possess one of the strongest distribution channel in the fast food sector, which
allows them to either procure or to produce the required products in less time and at reduced costs.
The competitive strategies the restaurant follows are:
1.Differentiation
The restaurant prides itself in having a differentiated process to manufacture its products and thus
retain a healthy competitive advantage. They achieve this by providing the best quality products
that are unique to its customers, in the shortest possible time and at an affordable rate. The fact
that it provides the world s best fried chicken speaks volumes of how big an advantage it holds
over its competitors.
2.Cost leadership strategy
Any company who wants to achieve higher margins of profits, first and foremost aims at reducing
the cost of its production. KFC is no different than any other company. They do so by attaining
high efficiency in production, operational and marketing areas. It provides its differentiated
products at an affordable rate and gives a good value to its

Dyslexia Strategies
Students with dyslexia often struggle with expressive and recessive language disorders. According
to Wilkins Garside they have difficulty with reading, spelling, understanding language they hear, or
expressing themselves clearly in speaking or in writing. There are many strategies teachers can use
to assist students with dyslexiaand help them become successful in the classroom lessons. One
strategy that can be used to help students with dyslexia is allowing students to use graphic
organizers while reading or doing an activity. This allows them to organize their thoughts. For
students who struggle with remembering details or retelling a story they just read, the use of a flow

Socially, this could lead to less peer acceptance. Students who struggle with fitting in often find
themselves alienated from their peers. This often leads to a decrease in the students self esteem.
According to Ryan (2000), they may have difficulty reading social cues. If they do have difficulty
reading other people, they may not know, for example, how much distance to keep between
themselves and others, how to wait their turn, or how to interpret the body language of others. (p.5)
This could lead to problems when the students try to interact with their peers at school. There are
many strategies teachers can implement to make sure all students feel included in the classroom.
The teachers can have those students become teacher helpers to make sure they feel important to
the rest of the group. Passing out papers and supplies can be a very important job in the eyes of
the students. This leads them to feel more comfortable and needed in the classroom setting.
According to Ryan (2000), while they might feel excluded from their peers, they also struggle
with finding the right words to say and may pause before answering direct questions (p.5).
Adequate verbal communication is a key part of building relationships among their peers. The lack
of this puts students at a great disadvantage, as they grow older. How can a teacher help students
overcome this difficulty? To avoid having students be

How Selection On Behavior Shapes Brain Investment
Understanding how selection on behavior shapes brain investment is a major question in the
analysis of the evolution of animal sociality [Szathmary and Maynard Smith, 1995; Edelman and
Changeux, 2001; Ricklefs, 2004; Gronenberg and Riveros, 2009]. Neural tissue is energetically
expensive and therefore brainregions should only enlarge when needed to meet functional demands
[Niven and Laughlin, 2008]. The social brain hypothesis posits that social interactions are so
cognitively demanding that social environment selects for enhanced neural development
[Humphrey, 1976; Dunbar and Shultz, 2007]. Studies supporting the social brain hypothesis
usually rely on comparative analyses across taxa with varying levels of social complexity and use...

To date only two brain investment studies on solitary and facultatively social bees are reported. A
study on solitary bees, Osmia lignaria found that adults emerge with neuronal development typical
of experienced workers in advanced eusocial insect species, but also found that mushroom body
neuropil volume further increased with foraging experience [Withers et al., 2007]. These results
confirm that mushroom bodies are important for cognitive processes in solitary antecedents, but
cannot inform us on the role of social experience on neuropil investment. Smith et al. [2010]
examined brain size and development using the facultatively social bee Megalopta genalis, a
species with both solitary and primitively social colonies in the same populations. Mushroom
body size increased with foraging behavior in solitary individuals and workers compared to newly
emerged M. genalis females, but even greater mushroom body development was found in queens.
Smith et al. [2010] attributed enhanced growth of the mushroom body cortex to maintaining
behavioral dominance. Much like obligately eusocial bees, however, Megalopta are bees with
distinct reproductive (queens) and foraging (workers) roles and therefore the relative roles of
foraging and social experience are not

In the documentary, Flint Town we are exposed to a multitude of visuals that show us the depths
of poverty that the city of Flint has devolved to. Large amounts of abandoned property is shown,
given an in depth perspective of the poverty. We see darks and lights in multiple portions of the
documentary, symbolizing the poverty and prosperity. In Roger and Me we see a contrasting
visual representation with light colors being used in the entire documentary. The sounds of poverty
are shown substantially, with emphasis on crime noises and loudness. The documentary holds
back no punches when it comes to showing us the brutality of desperation. A large amount of
abandoned property is shown in, Flint Town and this helps convey the general mood of this
documentary which, in my opinion, is the showcasing of what a city that has been left to its own
defenses and not given the crucial assistance it desperately needs. According to a report done by
RealtyTrac, a company that keeps track of foreclosed and defaulted properties, that 1 in 14
properties are vacant within the community of Flint. (Vassel) The abandonment is further shown in

Northanger Abbey is the story of a naГЇve girl of seventeen years old named Catherine Morland

Catherine s story begins with the description of her living in the village Fullerton where she has

Neil Macdonald s Article On The Issue With Canadian Politics
Neil MacDonald s article on the issue with Canadian politics is filled with the richest form of
sarcasm that pinpoints exactly how juvenile this topic truly is. In my article that I choose,
MacDonald takes a look at the issue of the nigab and other Muslim related topics and how the
current Canadian politics is strategically creating an invisible barrier between Muslims and
Canadians. I will first start off with a brief summary of the article followed by how Edward Said
and Jasmine Zine discuss what is currently happening with the niqab.
Summary: In MacDonald s article, The barbaric cultural practice of election pronouncements, he
looks at how the current Canadian political election has created this barrier between Muslims and
Canadians. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Said had looked into how the West had put a distinction to isolate the Orient from themselves. This
would have by usually putting them in a viewpoint as having more barbaric and savage values then
the West. This is clearly seen in the article that MacDonald had written. MacDonald finds that the
current Election has created a barrier making a distinction between Muslims and putting them as the
outsiders. In the article MacDonald finds that many times it is not just saying it bluntly rather it is
quick jabs at Muslims. [...] We were reminded by the immigration minister [...] that Canada now has
something called the Zero Tolerance for Barbaric Cultural Practices Act. (MacDonald, 2015) Of
course, many can argue that the immigration minister was not directly attacking Muslims and yet
when one reads the word barbaric, they connate help but think about the barbaric actions that
happen almost everyday in the Middle East. Although Said didn t directly look into gender
orientalism he had made a great point in his article when discussing how the West view woman in
an Oriental society. [...] she never spoke of herself, and she never represented her emotions,
presence or history. He spoke for and represented her. He was foreign, comparatively wealthy, male

Vita Nova Trinity Number 19 Analysis
The Vita Nova has many symbolic themes throughout its structure such as the words vita and nova
themselves. In both Italian and English, vita refers to life and nova in Italian refers to marvelous or
strange, however in English, it refers to brightness (of light). Another symbol in the poem is the
Trinity number nine as Dante refers to it every time he has an encounter with Beatrice. In this essay,
because Vita Nova has 42 chapters, I will discuss how Beatrice represents (and/or mirrors) light
throughout chapters 2 8 (with the definition of Trinity mentioned in chapter 29), through Dante s
actual sight and uncontrollable dreams. Dante s muse represents light in chapter two because she
can see all throughout his body as, during his first... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Trinity number nine is also found in this chapter, as it was precisely the ninth hour of that
day, three o clock in the afternoon (III, 2). Although this is the chapter when Beatrice finally
gives Dante her salutation, the chapter s focus is in his dream. In the dream, Dante sees a
powerful figure holding his muse in one hand and forcing her to eat a burning object in another
(III, 6). As the human like figure came out from a cloud the color of fire (III, 3), it said, ego
dominus tuus...vide cor tuum (III, 3; 5) to Dante, the pilgrim, which translates into, I m your
lord...look into your heart. In other words, the figure represents light itself (as God) since he
claimed to be the lord and because he came from a cloud the color of fire (III, 3). Beatrice
represents light because the figure forcibly fed her the burning object, Dante s heart, thus, giving
her the ability to see through Dante s most secret chamber as mentioned in chapter two. Although
one can argue that since this human like figure uses force against Beatrice and comes in the form
of a fiery cloud, this figure can be mistaken as a Demon; however, because both the figure and
Beatrice ascent toward the heavens (III, 7), it supports my argument that the figure is actually light

Gender Differences In Art Analysis
Two artworks, made of dissimilar mediums, may seem to be complete opposites, but when their
content is closely analyzed prove to be very comparable. Untitled #228, created by Cindy Sherman
is a seven foot tall photograph in which she depicts herself in the biblical story of Judith beheading
Holofernes, a subject commonly portrayed by Italian Baroque artists. The photograph could easily
be mistaken for an oil painting, displaying characteristics you may see in the female figures of a
Botticelli painting. The drapery in the background could be taken from the Grande Odalisque, a
painting that depicts a nude woman in a harem. These historical references create contrast between
new and old, and serve to communicate feminist... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Faith Ringgold makes a more obvious reference to the past with the explicit depiction of Da Vinci
paintings in the background and the traditional technique of oil painting. The five figures, all
female, are shown dancing, playing and ignoring the art that surrounds them. Essentially, they are
ignoring the traditional ideas of art and the white men that have been glorified within the art world
that also oppresses and ignores black women s voices. Similar to how Sherman altered the way the
female was depicted in a traditional style painting, Ringgold also countered these traditional ideas.
She depicts the five black women in a way that they normally wouldn t have been, she shows a
story that didn t happen, but she wish would have. The technique of quilting she uses also
contradicts the European tradition because it was never necessarily considered fine art and was
associated with female craft. The personal connection in Dancing at the Louvre is much deeper and
obvious than in Untitled #228. The medium reflects her African American heritage and the content,
her journey through the repressive world of

The Sociology Of War And Violence Essay
Talking about war tends to make people feel emotional, feel a sort of adrenaline rush, mad, and
even proud. These emotions can at times, in my opinion, bring groups together and separate others
because of disagreements on views and beliefs. While it is not easy to talk to anyone about
delicate topics such as this one, it is important to acknowledge how warcan influence societal
behavior and culture. Many can argue that war unites people, particularly speaking of the United
States; a country is known for its patriotism and pride when it comes down to its military forces and
achievements across nations.
The book The Sociology of War and Violence , gives an insight of how war can be understood
from different perspectives. While war is believed by some that people come together in
solidarity, the chapters on nationalism and war as well as propaganda and war, analyzed
important factors such as the understanding of war and its impact on societies culture at a macro
level. It is easy to argue that we can easily assume war brings the best in individuals when society
is facing mutual concerns and worries. When society comes together as one it brings a sense of
solidarity and strength giving us a sense of power. This is a common feeling, for instance, lets
consider us when it comes down to support our military; above all things, despite our differences in
religion, socio economic status, ages, gender, etc.... majority support their actions because they
make sense and they are in the

Urinary Catheter-Associated Infection
Catheters are associated with urinary tract infections which are the most common healthcare
associated infections, which account for 30 40% of infections in the healthcare setting each year.
(Nazarko et al, 2008) CAUTI results in a patient having to stay in a hospital or nursing home like
setting for a long period of time, which can also result in increase of hospitalcosts (Plowman et al,
1999). Catheters can either be long term or short term, and there are many different types of
catheters such as: Foley, straight, coude tip. How CAUTIs occur is when bacteria is in the bladder
and a few ways this occurs is when the catheteris first inserted, by ascending the catheter tubing
from the drainage tubing and bag, and when the drainage bag is not emptied properly (Nazarko et
al, 2008).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Catheters may be inserted when a patient is having a specific type of surgery, such as repair of
hip fracture (Johansson et al, 2002). The EPIC Project guidelines, recommend four interventions
related to reducing urinary catheter associated infection (Pratt et al, 2001): Assessing the need
for catheterization, selecting the catheter type, Aseptic catheter insertion, Catheter maintenance.
Tsuchida and colleagues (2008) found that the use of a pre connected closed system and daily
cleansing of the perineal area could reduce the incidence of CAUTIs by nearly 50%. Also
following guidelines is essential for preventing urinary tract infections some guidelines are;
Perform hand hygiene before and after all handling of the catheter, tubing, and drainage bag.
Empty the drainage bag when it becomes full or at least once every 8 hours to prevent migration
of bacteria. Lastly, keep the drainage bag lower than the level of the patient s bladder to prevent
backflow of urine in the bladder; verify that the bag does not rest on the floor (Caple,

The Rates Of Teen Pregnancy Essay
INTRODUCTION Throughout the United States, rates of teen pregnancy are significantly
high. In 2013, there were 26.5 births for every 1,000 adolescent females ages 15 19, or 273,105
babies born to females in this age group.1 Young, minority women between the ages of 15 and 24
appear to be at greater risk for becoming pregnant. Minority populations are also linked with low
socioeconomic status, whether in terms of education or income, or both. Having low income and
lower levels of education (the most commonly used measures of SES) were also associated with
increased risk for unintended pregnancies, with 62% of pregnancies being unintended among
those earning 200% of the FPL.2 In addition, with minority populations growing rapidly, many of
these young women and their families live in smaller, more rural areas. According to one study, in
rural and small town areas the Hispanic population increased by 1.9 million or 46 percent between
2000 and 2010.3 In rural areas there is often limited access to nearby health care facilities. With
income, education and living inadequacies, these young women face complications with
availability and ready access to contraception, and are therefore less likely to practice effective
utilization of contraceptives. There is evidence that minority and low SES women are less likely to
use contraception overall, use different contraceptive methods, and have higher rates of
contraceptive failure than white and higher SES women.2 Cultural beliefs and

not mind preferring selecting public care. But with copayment health insurance, consumers pay the
lower price of P2 and quantity increases to Q2. Since payment is also done by the insurance
company then people seek better quality of services which is provided by privatized health care.
So, Its demand increases in the country. But not all have insurance and cannot afford expensive

When early rock and roll began the major American record companies did not take the british

some American musicians as well. In 1965 Bob Dylan performed at a concert in which he used

Essay on How Asian Americans are Portrayed in Hollywood...
Asian American actors and actresses are portrayed in Hollywood movies as always being the silent
and yielding foreign victims to social injustice and prejudice. Whether or not these depictions are
true, they are nonetheless stereotypes that Hollywood producers have come up with. According to
the US Census in the year 2000, Asian Americans make up 4.2% of the entire American population,
and knowing that most Asian Americans live on the west and east coast of the United States, many
Americans living in central parts of this country have not really been exposed to any Asian
Americans. Because of this fact, it is highly probable that most Americans get their exposure to the
Asian Americanlifestyle only through television and movies. Even if... Show more content on

His men get defeated by other white gangs which clearly shows that Hollywood wants you to think
that Asians are inferior to white people. In Richard Fung s analysis on Sally s Beauty Spot, The
fact that Sally never kisses an Asian unfortunately reflects the absence of Asian men from
Western sexual representation (Fung 169). Asian actors rarely get to be involved in on screen
romantic relationships with their co star Asian actresses because Hollywood does not believe
Asian men are capable of being sexual. They would rather have them doing fighting scenes or
even playing nerdy roles than to allow them to do romantic scenes. Similarly, in the James Bond
film Tomorrow Never Dies, only Bond is involved in a relationship with the Asian female
character played by Michelle Yeoh. And majority of the time in most films, Asian actors and
actresses are instructed to speak with an Asian accident and in broken English. Likewise for
Asian actresses, they have been pictured as exotic, highly sexual, overly feminine, and eager to
please women capable of easily falling in love with white men. But what Hollywood really fails to
portray about Asian women in Asia is that they are prostitutes trying to make a living to put food
on the table for their families. People do not realize that these Asian women come from poverty and
did not receive the same education as American women. These Asian women are not choosing to
have sex with white males, but because their clients have

Type 1 Diabetes Personal Narrative
My life wouldn t be considered normal. My parents were immigrants from Pakistan trying to
create a better life for them and their children, and they re the only ones from their families to
move to America. They moved from New York, to Richardson, and lastly to Rockwall, Texas in
2005. I was born in 2000 but when events in my life truly started shaping me was in the summer of
2004.
The summer of 2004 is when I got diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, it was very shocking for my
family except for me, I still didn t completely understand what I had. All I knew was that the
poking and pricking with different sized needles was painful. Eventually I began to learn what
Type 1 Diabetes really was, and even though i had it, it didn t slow me down, I focused on my
academics and when it affected me I addressed and fixed the problem and went back to work. I also
didn t let it slow down my physical activities either, I would be outside every single day as kid
non stop, also in middle school I joined gymnastics as well and pursued it until the start of my
junior year of high school. Diabetes affected my way of life, it made me different than everyone
else and could ve slowed me down but I didn t let it, I still participated in different activities that
everyone else did.
People who helped me along the trip of learning how to deal with diabetes, as well as my life so
far, included my three sisters. I ve spent almost all of my life with them, and they ve influenced me
heavily. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They affected me so much to make me who I am. Diabetes also was a major factor into shaping
me into who I am today. This environment that I was raised in wasn t a normal household,
considering my sisters raised me mainly and my family and I had to worry about my Diabetes 24
/7, but I still came through as a hard worker and am very focused on my academics, and won t let
anything stop me from pursuing what I

How Did Kanye West Influence Fashion
Kanye West was formerly only known for his influential rap career, but in recent years, he s also
been known for his influence on fashion throughout the world with his product line, Yeezy Season,
known for selling out in just minutes, making it into high end fashion shows such as New York
and Paris fashion week. If you don t know him from his music or fashion career, then you most
likely know him from his bold, spontaneous moments where he speaks his mind in the national
spotlight, shocking the generation to push his agenda (Flournoy 1). Kanye uses his various
platforms, such as music and fashion, so his voice can be heard (Caramanica 1).
His voice in his music and the moments where he speaks in the spotlight is what has become a
positive inspiration and symbol of power to the Millennial Generation encouraging us to be
dauntless and original, in order to fight for what is right (Caramanica 1). ... Show more content on

Garrett Mraz, a Tarleton freshman, backed this up by giving high praises to music and saying it
means everything, it calms, it relaxes, also it can motivate and keep focus. It s great for our moods,
it s essential. Everyone listens to music daily. Everyone you walk past is either singing a song or
listening to music. Now with the fact that music has the biggest influence on this generation, the
biggest name in the industry would subsequently have the greatest influence on the Millennials.
According to Billboard Senior Editor, Alex Gale, and Tarleton Freshman, Garrett Mraz, Kanye West
is the biggest name in the music industry, thus making Kanye the biggest influence of this

Tom Hank Rhetorical Analysis
The first thing most people think of when they hear the name Tom Hanks is a toy cowboy, but
there is so much more to him. He has a lot more to tell the listeners then just how to get beyond
infinity; he can tell listeners how anyone can change the world. Hanks gave a commencement
speech at Yale University in 2011 to the graduating class. Hanks talks about how, even through
fear, anyone can change the world for the better. He emphasizes that people should work to make
the world better instead of posting and tweeting everything people do in the hopes to become
famous. Hanks uses a little bit of ethos and pathos when he used his credibility as a famous person
to make the graduates listen, an example of ethos, and uses pathos to not only make... Show more

Tom Hanks uses logos to show that with hard work, anyone can change the world for the better.
Logos is a literary device that proves a point through the use of logic. Hank s first example of
logos was when he told his personal story where his friend s uncle told his friend he would pay
for his education as long as he wanted to stay in school. The reason for this is because when a
person gets their first job, said person will work the rest of his life. Hanks also stated, On spring
days like today, it is traditional for us to ponder the state of the world and implore you all to help
make it a better place which implies that things are somehow worse today than they were when
we were sitting where you are right now. I am not so sure the planet earth is in worse shape than
it was 30, no 18, no four years ago. (Hanks). Because rushing into things is not always the best
idea, Hanks used a personal connection to show this. The uncle knew that if his nephew just rushed
into his life and did not go to college, it would do more harm than help. This is the same when
working to change the world. People cannot just jump into things;

Causal Agent The Oak Leaf Skeletonizer, Bucculatrix ainsliella is in the order Lepidoptera, which categorizes it as a defoliator in its larval stages (Gelok et al. 1998; Klass 1985; Van Nieukerken et al. 2012). It is a native species to Eastern United States and was once limited to Southern Canada and the Eastern coast of the United States to Mississippi (Baker 1972; Frank and Foltz 1997; Gelok et al. 1998). Since 1905, it is now found throughout Europe including the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany (Murtfeldt 1905; Van Nieukerken et al. 2012). Bucculatrix ainsliella is a foliage feeding lepidopteran species that causes defoliation on oak trees, specifically red (Quercus rubra) and black (Quercus velutina) oaks. The first instar larval stage are leafminers, which burrow into the leaf and consume the nutrients between the layers of the leaf. Once they progress into the final instar larval stage they start to defoliate the trees. This stage of Bucculatrix ainsliella consume the external underside of the leaf, leaving the veins, which causes the leaves of the oaks to become less efficient in producing photosynthate (Baker 1972; Gelok et al. 1998; Klass 1985; Van Nieukerken et al. 2012). Petroglyphs are images created by carving, pecking or incising images into rock surfaces. The most common rock art element found in the Coso Range is that of bighorn sheep (129). This model suggest that bighorn sheep represent mythical spirit helpers that were in the center of shamanistic activities, including hallucinations and trances. Since bighorn sheep held a minimal role in the diet during the late Haiwee and early Marana Period, rituals performed resulted in images of bighorn sheep being carved to attract rain to the Coso Range as a means to increase productivity of plants. It was said that Numic men would enter a dream states or drug induced trances during rain rituals. The mental imprints obtained during these experiences were transcribed as rock art images. These images were thought to portray transformation of men into spirit helpers or bighorn sheep. These half anthropomorphic, half zoomorphic figures recorded were featured as evidence, however, problems arose with this model. For instance, this model required the rock art to have been created post 1000BP, since the model proposes that Numic groups from the Great Basin were the ones that brought these rituals. However, the Numic Expansion did not occur until 1000BP and bighorn sheep petroglyphs seem to have developed in the Coso Range prior to the Numic Expansion. Also, the hallucinogens that produce the particular sequence that some have argued these images capture were not available in prehistoric North America. In addition, the ethnographic footing of this model is challenged since no ethnographic connection has been proposed between the native people and the pecked images of bighorn sheep for rain making. Some ethnographic accounts connect shamanism with the Coso region, weather control as a shamanic activity, rain shamans with bighorn spirit helpers and rock art with shamans, but no particular ethnographic evidence has been made to connect all concepts. Moreover, the fetus within 12 weeks is not fully developed, so arguing about the fetus s moral fetus is somewhat unreasonable and unnecessary. How Selection On Behavior Shapes Brain Investment Understanding how selection on behavior shapes brain investment is a major question in the analysis of the evolution of animal sociality [Szathmary and Maynard Smith, 1995; Edelman and Changeux, 2001; Ricklefs, 2004; Gronenberg and Riveros, 2009]. Neural tissue is energetically expensive and therefore brainregions should only enlarge when needed to meet functional demands [Niven and Laughlin, 2008]. The social brain hypothesis posits that social interactions are so cognitively demanding that social environment selects for enhanced neural development [Humphrey, 1976; Dunbar and Shultz, 2007]. A study on solitary bees, Osmia lignaria found that adults emerge with neuronal development typical of experienced workers in advanced eusocial insect species, but also found that mushroom body neuropil volume further increased with foraging experience [Withers et al., 2007]. These results confirm that mushroom bodies are important for cognitive processes in solitary antecedents, but cannot inform us on the role of social experience on neuropil investment. Smith et al. [2010] examined brain size and development using the facultatively social bee Megalopta genalis, a species with both solitary and primitively social colonies in the same populations. Mushroom body size increased with foraging behavior in solitary individuals and workers compared to newly emerged M. genalis females, but even greater mushroom body development was found in queens. Smith et al. [2010] attributed enhanced growth of the mushroom body cortex to maintaining behavioral dominance. In both Italian and English, vita refers to life and nova in Italian refers to marvelous or strange, however in English, it refers to brightness (of light). Another symbol in the poem is the Trinity number nine as Dante refers to it every time he has an encounter with Beatrice. In this essay, because Vita Nova has 42 chapters, I will discuss how Beatrice represents (and/or mirrors) light throughout chapters 2 8 (with the definition of Trinity mentioned in chapter 29), through Dante s actual sight and uncontrollable dreams. The Trinity number nine is also found in this chapter, as it was precisely the ninth hour of that day, three o clock in the afternoon (III, 2). Although this is the chapter when Beatrice finally gives Dante her salutation, the chapter s focus is in his dream. In the dream, Dante sees a powerful figure holding his muse in one hand and forcing her to eat a burning object in another (III, 6). As the human like figure came out from a cloud the color of fire (III, 3), it said, ego dominus tuus...vide cor tuum (III, 3; 5) to Dante, the pilgrim, which translates into, I m your lord...look into your heart. In other words, the figure represents light itself (as God) since he claimed to be the lord and because he came from a cloud the color of fire (III, 3). Beatrice represents light because the figure forcibly fed her the burning object, Dante s heart, thus, giving her the ability to see through Dante s most secret chamber as mentioned in chapter two. Although one can argue that since this human like figure uses force against Beatrice and comes in the form of a fiery cloud, this figure can be mistaken as a Demon; however, because both the figure and Beatrice ascent toward the heavens (III, 7), it supports my argument that the figure is actually light ... Untitled #228, created by Cindy Sherman is a seven foot tall photograph in which she depicts herself in the biblical story of Judith beheading Holofernes, a subject commonly portrayed by Italian Baroque artists. The photograph could easily be mistaken for an oil painting, displaying characteristics you may see in the female figures of a Botticelli painting. Similar to how Sherman altered the way the female was depicted in a traditional style painting, Ringgold also countered these traditional ideas. She depicts the five black women in a way that they normally wouldn t have been, she shows a story that didn t happen, but she wish would have. The technique of quilting she uses also contradicts the European tradition because it was never necessarily considered fine art and was associated with female craft. Many can argue that war unites people, particularly speaking of the United States; a country is known for its patriotism and pride when it comes down to its military forces and achievements across nations. The book The Sociology of War and Violence , gives an insight of how war can be understood from different perspectives. While war is believed by some that people come together in solidarity, the chapters on nationalism and war as well as propaganda and war, analyzed important factors such as the understanding of war and its impact on societies culture at a macro level. It is easy to argue that we can easily assume war brings the best in individuals when society is facing mutual concerns and worries. When society comes together as one it brings a sense of solidarity and strength giving us a sense of power. In 2013, there were 26.5 births for every 1,000 adolescent females ages 15 19, or 273,105 babies born to females in this age group.1 Young, minority women between the ages of 15 and 24 appear to be at greater risk for becoming pregnant. Minority populations are also linked with low socioeconomic status, whether in terms of education or income, or both. Having low income and lower levels of education (the most commonly used measures of SES) were also associated with increased risk for unintended pregnancies, with 62% of pregnancies being unintended among those earning 200% of the FPL.2 In addition, with minority populations growing rapidly, many of these young women and their families live in smaller, more rural areas. According to one study, in rural and small town areas the Hispanic population increased by 1.9 million or 46 percent between 2000 and 2010.3 In rural areas there is often limited access to nearby health care facilities. With income, education and living inadequacies, these young women face complications with availability and ready access to contraception, and are therefore less likely to practice effective utilization of contraceptives. The summer of 2004 is when I got diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, it was very shocking for my family except for me, I still didn t completely understand what I had. All I knew was that the poking and pricking with different sized needles was painful. Eventually I began to learn what Type 1 Diabetes really was, and even though i had it, it didn t slow me down, I focused on my academics and when it affected me I addressed and fixed the problem and went back to work. I also didn t let it slow down my physical activities either, I would be outside every single day as kid non stop, also in middle school I joined gymnastics as well and pursued it until the start of my junior year of high school. Diabetes affected my way of life, it made me different than everyone else and could ve slowed me down but I didn t let it, I still participated in different activities that everyone else did. People who helped me along the trip of learning how to deal with diabetes, as well as my life so far, included my three sisters. I ve spent almost all of my life with them, and they ve influenced me heavily. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They affected me so much to make me who I am. • 41. Tom Hank Rhetorical Analysis The first thing most people think of when they hear the name Tom Hanks is a toy cowboy, but there is so much more to him. He has a lot more to tell the listeners then just how to get beyond infinity; he can tell listeners how anyone can change the world. Hanks gave a commencement speech at Yale University in 2011 to the graduating class. Hanks talks about how, even through fear, anyone can change the world for the better. He emphasizes that people should work to make the world better instead of posting and tweeting everything people do in the hopes to become famous. Logos is a literary device that proves a point through the use of logic. Hank s first example of logos was when he told his personal story where his friend s uncle told his friend he would pay for his education as long as he wanted to stay in school. The reason for this is because when a person gets their first job, said person will work the rest of his life. Hanks also stated, On spring days like today, it is traditional for us to ponder the state of the world and implore you all to help make it a better place which implies that things are somehow worse today than they were when we were sitting where you are right now. I am not so sure the planet earth is in worse shape than it was 30, no 18, no four years ago. (Hanks). Because rushing into things is not always the best idea, Hanks used a personal connection to show this. The uncle knew that if his nephew just rushed into his life and did not go to college, it would do more harm than help. This is the same when working to change the world. People cannot just jump into things; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
