Mobile Shopping In Mobile E-Commerce
Introduction
With evolving technologies and digital innovation, mobile e commerce is rapidly growing. Mobile
devices, especially smartphones, have revolutionized the online shopping experience with time and
seems like it s just the beginning to the frontier.
M commerce is shopping through a mobile device smartphones or tablets. This experience is
becoming a habit for many consumers. According to a study among 1,000 US merchants, 16% of them
already have an established mobile shopping channel and 32% of them are on strategic phase to start
selling products through mobile within a year (Meola, 2016).
The mobile shopping is expected to grow bigger and bigger. As per the US Census Bureau and
comScore, in 2014, m commerce was 11.6% of the $303 billion USA e commerce total and estimated
to increase to 45% of the total e commerce value by 2020 (Meola, 2016).A large market share with
potential to grow into a billion dollars
Industry and constant technological advancements in Android and iOS operating systems will
transform m commerce very soon. This makes it critical to evaluate this EC initiative and obtain a
more holistic picture about shopping from a touch of a button.
Evolution of Mobile Commerce
Mobile commerce is the ability to do business transactions between two parties through a mobile
device. The underlying principle is mobile computing, a technology that enables wireless devices to
transmit data without any physical internet connection. Rahimi (2014) mentioned that

Marine Debris In The Florida Keys
Abstract:
Marine debris was collected and placed into categories at Long Key State Park in the Florida Keys.
Data was taken on Thursday, March 26th, 2015. The total number of debris collected totaled at 835
items. The most common type of marine debris collected during this experiment was assorted plastics
totaling at 513 pieces (61.43%). Many of the debris collected where small and unidentifiable.
Introduction:
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) define marine debris as any
persistent solid material that is manufactured or processed and directly or indirectly, intentionally or
unintentionally, disposed of or abandoned into the marine environment (NOAA, 2015). Marine debris
is classified into two categories: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For millennia, terrestrial plant matter, seeds, and driftwood have travelled across the open oceans with
the help of surface currents. Even floating islands, also known as tussocks, floatons, or sudds are
common in many Florida lakes and across the world (Mallison, C.T., 2001). These islands have been
known to carry exotic plants and vertebrate animals. Floating islands promote trans ocean dispersal of
marine and terrestrial organisms. This increases biodiversity and helps new barren islands thrive.
However, in the last five decades, with the growing number of plastics in the marine environment, the
dispersal and occurrence of these organisms has increased exceedingly (Gregory, R.M., 2009). This
paves the way for invasions by alien and even aggressive invasive species to establish themselves in
new ecosystems beyond their native range. A survey done in 2009 reported that over 150 marine
species have established themselves due to marine debris stranded on the shores of northern New
Zealand. Most of these organisms were identified as crustaceans. Four of those organisms discovered
are featured in figure 3. Specimen A shows various crustaceans on unknown plastic, specimen B

Natural Gas Fracking
Not only is breathing in the methane fumes a risk to health, but also methane is flammable. In
Wyoming, a leaking methane gas well burst into flames, swaying the views of several individuals
(Lavelle 109). Since this well not only leaked methane but also natural gas, this fire quickly expanded
and burned a large flame. This fire lasted for months until the firefighters were finally able to put it
out. Copious amounts of individuals became forced to evacuate and eventually, their homes would be
engulfed in the flames. Another fire broke out, but this time it was located in a home. A family in
Colorado, who lived near a fracking well were enjoying supper (Lavelle 109). Shortly after supper
concluded the mother turned on the sink to wash ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

of truckloads of equipment needs to be carried from one place to another. As well as the need to have
an individual to watch over the fracking stations and watch for any troubling signs. These people
would be important in the safety of the town and the people. Not only would there be hundreds of jobs
created to build the wells, but there has to be people to maintain the wells, perform maintenance work
on them. In the past years, jobs have been a laborious task to come by, unemployment rates have
soared high and people would do anything to earn income. Fracking helped create several jobs, and it
still is creating them. Even if it is only for one month out of a year that this individual could work,

My Last Duchess Diction
My Last Duchess in itself is a Victorian reflection on Renaissance Italy. It explores societal schemas
which permeated both aristocratic societies extensively, such as societal entitlement and a narcissistic
and oppressive attitude. Browning takes this to a deeper level by exploring these temperaments in the
speaker; the Duke of Ferrara. This is achieved through the use of structure and syntax to provide
insight into the psyche of the speaker by insinuating and presenting the real ideology of the speaker
through the development of a societal interaction. Browning employs thematic progression lead by the
speaker delivered through a dramatic monologue, forced sentences of genuine nature, and the use of
vivid imagery and syntax to create such ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One can imagine the messenger standing up and bolting towards the stairs, to warn his master of the
dark intentions of the Duke, only to be abruptly halted. This is a clear example of his controlling
nature and provides insight into the oppressive nature of the Duke. The Duke is so narcissistic and
oppressive the he feels entitled to express his darkest attributes and still maintain his social and
political status through subtle yet blunt manipulation. This is reflected in the structure of the poem
through the use of a dramatic monologue; where the Duke commands the conversion and guides it
where he wants to go, forcing his thoughts onto the audience and drawing focus only to what he
desires. This mentality of oppression is further reflected in the diction and syntax that is used; where
the Duke uses phrases to control the individual in a seemingly polite way. This view is shared by
Joshua Adler in his article Structure and Meaning in Browning s My Last Duchess .
Throughout the interview the Duke is, in effect, manipulating his guest as if he were a puppet sit
down, stand up, look at this, notice that and his manner is indicative of his whole attitude to life, for in
the main body of the monologue the same habits are revealed as in the double frame. The structure of
the poem thus corresponds perfectly to its content: just as the monologue is cramped in and the
listener held down, so had the Duke attempted to confine his wife within the bounds imposed by his
inflexible will. (Adler

Essay On Cirrhosis
The liver is a crucial part of our digestive system. It is loved in the epigastric and right hypochondriac
regions of the abdomen. A few of the many functions are storing glycogen and processing proteins
from amino acids. Perhaps the most important function to digestion is that the liver secretes bile, a
substance required to digest fats. There are many diseases that can affect this organ and the digestive
system including Cirrhosis.
Cirrhosis of the liver is a chronic disease that directly affects the liver. During the slow progression of
this disease the healthy tissue in the liver is replaced with scare tissue, causing the liver cells to be
destroyed. This causes the liver to be suffocated and eventually fail, due to not receiving enough
blood. This damage is not always reversible. Many of the signs and symptoms for Cirrhosis are not
present until the damage is too severe. Some symptoms include loss of appetite, fatigue, nausea,
weight loss, itching of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A few of those causes include Hepatitis C, Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis , and certain genetic diseases.
Perhaps the most common cause is chronic alcohol abuse. According to the National Institute of
Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism About 10 percent to 15 percent of people with alcoholism develop
cirrhosis, but may survive it. Many are unaware that they have it, and about 30 percent to 40 percent
of cirrhosis cases are discovered at autopsy (Anand 1999). There are several ways that Cirrhosis of the
liver can be diagnosed. The methods are physical examination, laboratory tests, biopsy, and several
types of imaging. The laboratory tests include liver function , kidney function , and blood tests. The
blood tests will check for Hepatitis viruses. A few types of imaging that could be used are MRI, CT,
ultrasound, and Magnetic resonance elastography. As mentioned before most symptoms are delayed so
the disease is often realized during a routine

What Does Dover Symbolize In The Masque Of The Red Death
When discussing loss knowing it comes in many forms can create an ubiquitous contemplation about
the derivative of the characters loss. In many Dark Romantic and Gothic pieces loss can derive from a
loved one, psychological torment, or even from an egotistical attribute. These attributes may seem
customary to society, however these issues can take a great toll on a character. For example, in
Annabel Lee by Edgar Allan Poe, he lost his wife to a lung disease which ultimately caused the
narrator to obsess in a form of grief over Annabel Lee. Moreover, in the Demon Lover by Elizabeth
Bowen the protagonist and the antagonist essentially are the same person. Mrs. Dover while revisiting
an old house she once lived in had created an entire situation that in her mind and to the reader seem
real, once the reader continues the realization that Mrs. Dover created a situation all of her own due to
psychological issues. Lastly, in The Masque of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Prince Prospero proves to be extremely egotistical, his subjects have little to no value to him, as well
as his self importance caused him to act before thinking. This example shows his egotistical
tendencies, the external world can take care of itself (Poe 2). This happened when the red death had
spread through his subjects, his ideology is to save himself along with the rich subjects that lived with
him. Instead of trying to protect the majority of his subjects along with himself, he allowed it to
become a mass exodus of disease through his kingdom. As well as him discovering, his vesture was
dabble in blood (Poe 7). This was when Prospero discovered his valuable vesture had blood on it.
Even though he tried he couldn t protect himself from the inevitable. He was later murdered due to his

Similarities Between The Tale Of Cupidyche
The story of Cupid and Psyche is a classic greek myth about gods and goddesses interacting with
mortals, The Tale of Cupid and Psyche was written by Lucius Apuleius and is located in his book The
Golden Ass. This tale is one of the first Beauty and the Beast esque stories. Aside from Beauty and the
Beast, Rebecca (1940) directed by Alfred Hitchcock shares many similarities and motifs. The love
story within this thriller of Maxime de Winters and I (the new Mrs. de Winters) is comparable to that
of Cupid and Psyche. Possible linkages between the two include family/ mothers, voyeurism, and
female beauty/ male power. Michael Walker s book Hitchcock s Motifs (2005) is the main basis for
the links between the two stories.

The upstream market undertakes mostly the manufacturing of hardware and development of software.
There are mainly four vendors in the manufacturing of hardware and these are consoles, personal
computers and mobiles. The mobile is viewed as the market of the future though very small
(Egenfeldt, 2013). The console market is very significant and Microsoft, Nintendo and Sony dominate
it. The software is developed in house by third party contractors and is owned directly by publishers.
They have less autonomy but enjoy security. The downstream segment consists of distribution, both
software and hardware. Software distribution is organized by publishers who must obtain licenses and
for the authority to sell games pertaining to a particular console and must pay the manufacture some
royalties for each game sold. Microsoft has its own publisher and it is the only player that integrates
the three functions of software development, hard ware manufacturing and software publishing.
United States is the industry leader followed by Japan and then in the third place is France. The
distribution has been organized by the manufactures through local and regional subsidiaries that will
pass their products to retailers. The three major markets for the consoles are North America, Asia and
Europe, though Europe has a strong downstream position with small importance in upstream activities

In emergency response management the basic network involves receiving information and then the
mobilization of the necessary emergency services and first responders to the disaster area. This is
should include a first wave of core emergency services, such as firefighters, police and ambulance
crews, but the size of the emergency determines the amount of resources allocated to any disaster. In

This would greatly reduce any information overload that would hinder decision making. In the span of
not having enough information, some decision makers will wait on making a decision, but this could
be just as bad as making a wrong decision.[Carver] Other key decision makers will fall back on
routines which might not be relevant in the situation. The technology in this situation needs to be able
to take the amount of information gathered and then start the allocation of resources to the area so that
information does start coming in, they can immediately start implementing the response plans. There
is a need for both discipline, which would include structure, doctrine, and processes, and agility which
could be defined by creativity, improvisation, adaptability in responding to a disaster.[Walker] There is
also the need to onboard and build an effective leadership team quickly to coordinate and manage
efforts as they grow beyond first responders. The leader and team must formulate and implement a
disciplined, iterative set of response plans, allowing initial coordinated responses that are vaguely
right, adapting to new information and changes in circumstances as they arise. There needs to be a
broad system that will allow people who have never worked together before the ability to understand

How The Ussr Is Still Haunting Europe Essay
How the USSR is Still Haunting Europe
After twenty six years, the nations that were granted independence from the Russian Federation are
still dealing with the affects of the fallout; In particular, Russia s European neighbor, Ukraine. In an
article dated September 29th, from the Russian News Agency TASS, it gives an overview of the recent
implications of the civil war in the Donbass region. Russia and Germany are urging the Ukrainian
Government to follow the Minsk Protocol, in order to keep peace and maintain a working relationship
between all the countries listed on the agreement (TASS 2016). There has been constant conflict in the
Donbass region since the beginning of 2014, with times of cease fire, but nothing significant. The
conflict is a result of the Russian demographic in Eastern Ukraine, wanting separation from a Western
influenced Ukraine. This paper will examine the geographical aspect of this relationship and how it
has affected the conflict.

Literary Devices In A White Heron
Childhood is arguably the most exciting time of a person s life. One has few responsibilities or cares,
and the smallest events can seem monumentally thrilling. Often, people reflect on the memories of
their youth with fondness and appreciation for the lessons they learned. Sarah Orne Jewett captures
this essence perfectly in the excerpt from A White Heron. Jewett uses many literary devices, including
diction, imagery, narrative pace, and point of view to immerse the reader in familiar feelings of
nostalgia and wonder, and dramatize the plot. The diction in the excerpt is an essential component to
the dramatization of the plot s central incident. Jewett uses rich language to intensify the simple nature
of the main character Sylvia s journey up a great pine tree. For example, in describing the tree, the
narrator uses personification as he mentions the huge tree asleep yet in the paling moonlight. The use
of personification harkens back to those universal moments in childhood in which everything alive
had human feelings, and creates an emotional attachment between the reader and the tree. Jewett also
uses other figurative language, like similes, to relate the grandeur of the tree to the audience. She
writes, It [the tree] was like a great main mast to the voyaging earth... In comparing the tree to the
great mast of a ship, the author invokes feelings of awe at its size. Jewett makes great use of imagery
to help the audience imagine the setting in its complete

The same goes for cats. Since they love to jump on things and knock things over, be sure they are not
free to roam in the kitchen or other areas that may hold fire hazards.
Have your leashes near a door as well, this way a firefighter not only knows you have pets, but can
use the leash to help your pets out. You can also post a window cling for firefighters. These are
available for free through the ASPCA. This informs anyone that is entering of the animals inside as
well as how many.

Characteristics Of A Friend Who Falls Under All Of These...
We all have friendships with everyone. To some people, they have deep friendships while others just
use and abuse their friends. We shouldn t abuse our friends, we should care for our friends. They re all
important! Friends can provide support, comfort, and help and even have fun with each other. When I
look for friends, I make sure that they possess many qualities. Some traits I look for in a friend is that
they re kind, honest, trustworthy and accepting of my unique ideas. I have many people that fall under
this category, but for this essay, I have decided to write about one who stands out. Her name is Aria.
Aria is a friend who falls under all of these qualities. She s kind, trustworthy and provides support and
comfort. Aria and I have a deep friendship.
Aria is a kind person. She cares for each and every one of her friends. An example is when she
provides food for me and others. I remember in kindergarten when she brought me a slice of pizza for
lunch. More specifically, a tomato basil slice of pizza. Anyways, I remember feeling strange and weird
as this had never happened to me. Before this, I had never gotten food, or any item, from anyone. It
was a new experience. Another example is that Aria puts her peers before herself. A couple weeks ago,
we were playing Volleyball. Aria would set up her peers for spikes, a move that is hard to accomplish
in this sport. Usually, people only care about themselves, and only ask people to set them up. Aria
could easily become one of

Homomorphic encryption is being put to use. It is a type of encryption that allows all the

On the other hand any cryptographic encryption that s allows only limited arbitrary functions such as
multiple addition options but only one multiplicative option to perform on data is known as partially
homomorphic encryption. When compared with complete homomorphic encryption partial encryption
is much faster and more intact. Although this encryption is open to attacks and can be attacked at its
base but if this encryption is properly used then it can perform computations in a secure environment.
One of its important features is to secure data on cloud. It allows customers to feel secure that their
data has been protected on cloud but at times when the customer wants to edit their data then the data
needs to be decrypted by the cloud service provider. The entire security of your data is lost and the
cloud provider who is in procession of the secret key can alter your personal data. The idea of
homomorphic encryption started way back but breakthrough in recent times with complete
homomorphic encryption would break down the problems faced by security in cloud computing and
would wide spread cloud adaption.

Westward Expansion Dbq Analysis
American Expansion DBQ Americans expanded their country in two different eras throughout history:
American imperialism and westward expansion. During both of these eras, the mid late 1800s and the
early 1900s, Americans believed that expansion was necessary and beneficial. To a great extent, late
nineteenth century and early twentieth century United States expansionism was a continuation of past
United States expansionism and to a lesser extent was it a departure. The similarities and differences
between American Imperialism in the early 1900s and Manifest Destiny in the mid late 1800s are
shown through political, economic, and moral motives of America and its government. America
wanted to establish itself as a global and political power on the same level as major European nations.

The Crucible and The Salem Witch Trials by Arthur Miller...
Arthur Miller wrote plays as a way of showing people the real picture of what life was really like
during the Great Depression and after World War II. Before the Great Depression many Americans
were living in a significant time period, the Roaring Twenties. People had radios, automobiles, and
movies with sounds. Then it all suddenly came to an end with the Stock Market Crash, leading to the
Great Depression. During the Great Depression, Americans faced poverty, and had no income because
jobs weren t available. Throughout his life Miller influenced many people with his plays, and his
contributions to this day because people want to read and understand what was truly happening in past
history. For example, The Crucible is a play about the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, their marriage spiraled downward and they eventually divorced. While Miller was married
to his first wife, he had an affair with Marilyn Monroe, who later would become his wife. Marilyn
Monroe was a great influence in his life inspiring him to write After the Fall (1964), which was an
open portrayal of his marriage with Monroe.
Arthur s purpose for writing literature was to unmask the problems and issues of capitalism so the
people could have a fair understanding of the truth but in his plays rather than newspapers and
magazines. In the nineteen fifty s, Miller was starting to go downhill. During this time, one of Millers
most popular and recognized works; The Crucible was playing on Broadway. The Crucible showed a
relationship with the Communist Red Scare that America was facing during this. The Communist Red
Scare took place shortly after the end of World War I. It was a nationwide fear of communist,
socialists, and other fears America was facing. Since the Red Scare was such a big deal to many
Americans during this time in American history, Millers face drastically declined. With the production
of Millers, The Crucible, it brought more attention and suspicion on Miller. In the middle of the
nineteen fifty s, he was called to testify in front of the House Committee on Un American Activity,

Compare and contrast The Echoing Green with The Schoolboy by
Compare and contrast The Echoing Green with The Schoolboy by
William Blake
Both The Echoing Green and The Schoolboy are classed under the section, Songs of Innocence ,
which at first suggests that they will be of a similar nature. However this presumption is dispelled
early on, as one examines the issues behind the often comparable wording.
Many elements in The Schoolboy do echo those in The Echoing Green and visa versa, but the
atmospheres of each poem that are presented are so different that it becomes difficult to see how two
such contrasting pieces of work can unite in the same genre.
The Echoing Green is one of Blake s most idyllic poems, as it is set in a pastoral and carefree
atmosphere, which centres ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By using the image of a summer morn in the first stanza, Blake creates a tranquil and untainted
atmosphere, and descriptions such as birds sing and the distant huntsman winds his horn add an
auditory element in an almost identical way to the previous poem. However the serene scene does not
continue into the second verse, where the tone changes and Blake describes how having to go to
school ruins such a beautiful day: it drives all joy away . The use of the word drives is quite strong and
terminates the flowing nature of the previous verse, and the repetition of a summer morn allows one to
contrast the two verses.
From hence forward, The Schoolboy continues with a fairly negative tone, switching from the first
person, I drooping sit to a more philosophical stance towards the end, How shall we gather what griefs
destroy? . The stoical conclusion I feel demonstrates the implications of education, and shows that, if
buds are nipped , one not only damages childhood but also runs the risk of establishing a long term
effect on the individual, later on in life.
Both poems use time to illustrate the changing nature of the individuals, but even this is performed in
very different ways. The increasing darkness of The Schoolboy could be seen as representational of
the changing seasons, adding to the aspect of the natural world in the poem, especially as the final

Acute Inflammation
Acute Inflammation
The survival of all organisms requires that they eliminate foreign invaders, such as infectious

Definition of inflammation Inflammation is fundamentally a protective response, the ultimate goal of

consequences of such injury (e.g., necrotic cells and tissues)

Emancipation Of Women In Othello Essay
Othello, one of William Shakespeare s classics, is an intricate play written on the life of a soldier in
the sixteenth century, set in the backdrop of a war between Venice and Turkey. This century, referred
to as Renaissance (the era of re birth), marks the emancipation of women. Plays in the Renaissance
featured women who would break the rules and stand up for themselves, their honor. This was the era
where plays portrayed women trying to come to power, overthrowing the concept of power being only
with stereotypical men. All the plays of Shakespeare during this period featured a tragic heroine;
trying to bring justices to themselves may it be Othello, Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet or King Lear. The

Federal Preemption Should Be Easily Decided
David Gorhan
MBA 610 Business Law
Final Paper: Federal Preemption
January 25, 2015
Cases about federal preemption should be easily decided. The basis of the concept is written clearly in
the Supremacy Clause of the United States Constitution. Article VI, Paragraph 2 states:
This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all
treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme
law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the Constitution or
laws of any State to the contrary notwithstanding. (Cornell University Law School, n.d.)
Essentially, the Supremacy Clause states that the laws promulgated by the U.S. government take
priority over any laws that the individual states have enacted. The forefathers of the United States
understood that while some issues should be under the states discretion, others have more of a national
concern. Based on the Supremacy Clause, states are prohibited from passing laws that are inconsistent
with federal law. In turn state constitutions have also inserted Supremacy Clauses in their own
constitutions that prohibit the municipalities from enacting laws that are inconsistent with state laws.
However obvious and simple this concept sounds, the Supreme Court of the U.S. (SCOTUS) has seen
over twelve cases in the last five years concerning federal preemption and the balance between state
and federal power and

Today with 4G there s higher latency in the network, so this is the amount of time it takes to transmit
data from the device to the network, and back again with 5G that communication path that will allow
the customer to communicate much quicker and the customer will be able to control machines. Nokia
states that the latency of the network improves the communication between the machines which is
critical for future networks. Nokia s view on future needs for society for humanity. What we re going
to see is a transformation of Nokia s existing technologies to automate everything so you can imagine
healthcare automotive or in the mining industry or in other areas where that are very critical or
dangerous for humans we can send a machine in and control them remotely over a 5G wireless
network because of the low latency in the network so a huge transformation in the way Nokia utilize
their network and Nokia can control and do with their machines.
As the world moves into the industry 4.0 era and a fully digital economy the demands on networks
will change and grow. The Internet of Things, billions of devices and machines will be connected. 5G

Case Study Of Copthorne Holdings Ltd. V. Canada
This case (Copthorne Holdings Ltd. v. Canada) is similar to the case being analyzed (Groupe Honco
Inc. v. Her Majesty The Queen) in the fact that they both seem to be entering amalgamations in order
to receive a tax free benefit. In Copthorne Holdings Ltd. v. Canada, the PUC of the previously known
subsidiary became included in the PUC of the amalgamated corporation. In Groupe Honco Inc. v. Her
Majesty The Queen, the capital dividend account of Old Supervac transferred to the amalgamated
corporation New Supervac. In order to receive tax free benefits, the parent and subsidiary corporations
in Copthorne Holdings became sister corporations prior to amalgamation in order to have a larger
PUC. When shares were redeemed and a payout occurred to the non resident shareholder, it was much
larger than it would have been had the subsidiary PUC been cancelled upon amalgamation. In the
Groupe Honco case, the acquirers of the Old Supervac claimed to have no knowledge of the capital
dividend account. When the CDA came to light, they then tried to pay out a capital dividend from
New Supervac to Groupe Honco who then paid a capital dividend to Gestion Paul Lacasse. In both
situations the parties are disobeying the anti avoidance rule.
We can use the conclusion from this case to state that the acquisition of Old Supervac s shares and
declaration of a capital dividend form a part of the same series of transactions. When deciding to elect
the dividend being declared as a capital dividend,

Many of the debris collected where small and unidentifiable. For millennia, terrestrial plant matter, seeds, and driftwood have travelled across the open oceans with the help of surface currents. Even floating islands, also known as tussocks, floatons, or sudds are common in many Florida lakes and across the world (Mallison, C.T., 2001). These islands have been known to carry exotic plants and vertebrate animals. Floating islands promote trans ocean dispersal of marine and terrestrial organisms. This increases biodiversity and helps new barren islands thrive. However, in the last five decades, with the growing number of plastics in the marine environment, the dispersal and occurrence of these organisms has increased exceedingly (Gregory, R.M., 2009). This paves the way for invasions by alien and even aggressive invasive species to establish themselves in new ecosystems beyond their native range. A survey done in 2009 reported that over 150 marine species have established themselves due to marine debris stranded on the shores of northern New Zealand. Most of these organisms were identified as crustaceans. Four of those organisms discovered are featured in figure 3. Specimen A shows various crustaceans on unknown plastic, specimen B depicts warm water Indo Pacific oysters growing on nylon rope, specimen C depicts crustaceans growing on a plastic pellet, and specimen D depicts a bryozoan colony attached ... • 5. Natural Gas Fracking Not only is breathing in the methane fumes a risk to health, but also methane is flammable. In Wyoming, a leaking methane gas well burst into flames, swaying the views of several individuals (Lavelle 109). Since this well not only leaked methane but also natural gas, this fire quickly expanded and burned a large flame. This fire lasted for months until the firefighters were finally able to put it out. Copious amounts of individuals became forced to evacuate and eventually, their homes would be engulfed in the flames. Another fire broke out, but this time it was located in a home. A family in Colorado, who lived near a fracking well were enjoying supper (Lavelle 109). Shortly after supper concluded the mother turned on the sink to wash ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Another significant benefit produced is the amount of jobs one well would create. To frack, hundreds of truckloads of equipment needs to be carried from one place to another. As well as the need to have an individual to watch over the fracking stations and watch for any troubling signs. These people would be important in the safety of the town and the people. • 6. My Last Duchess Diction My Last Duchess in itself is a Victorian reflection on Renaissance Italy. It explores societal schemas which permeated both aristocratic societies extensively, such as societal entitlement and a narcissistic and oppressive attitude. Browning takes this to a deeper level by exploring these temperaments in the speaker; the Duke of Ferrara. This is achieved through the use of structure and syntax to provide insight into the psyche of the speaker by insinuating and presenting the real ideology of the speaker through the development of a societal interaction. Browning employs thematic progression lead by the speaker delivered through a dramatic monologue, forced sentences of genuine nature, and the use of vivid imagery and syntax to create such ... This is a clear example of his controlling nature and provides insight into the oppressive nature of the Duke. The Duke is so narcissistic and oppressive the he feels entitled to express his darkest attributes and still maintain his social and political status through subtle yet blunt manipulation. This is reflected in the structure of the poem through the use of a dramatic monologue; where the Duke commands the conversion and guides it where he wants to go, forcing his thoughts onto the audience and drawing focus only to what he desires. This mentality of oppression is further reflected in the diction and syntax that is used; where the Duke uses phrases to control the individual in a seemingly polite way. This view is shared by Joshua Adler in his article Structure and Meaning in Browning s My Last Duchess . Throughout the interview the Duke is, in effect, manipulating his guest as if he were a puppet sit down, stand up, look at this, notice that and his manner is indicative of his whole attitude to life, for in the main body of the monologue the same habits are revealed as in the double frame. The structure of the poem thus corresponds perfectly to its content: just as the monologue is cramped in and the listener held down, so had the Duke attempted to confine his wife within the bounds imposed by his inflexible will. In many Dark Romantic and Gothic pieces loss can derive from a loved one, psychological torment, or even from an egotistical attribute. One has few responsibilities or cares, and the smallest events can seem monumentally thrilling. Often, people reflect on the memories of their youth with fondness and appreciation for the lessons they learned. Sarah Orne Jewett captures this essence perfectly in the excerpt from A White Heron. Jewett uses many literary devices, including diction, imagery, narrative pace, and point of view to immerse the reader in familiar feelings of nostalgia and wonder, and dramatize the plot. The diction in the excerpt is an essential component to the dramatization of the plot s central incident. Jewett uses rich language to intensify the simple nature of the main character Sylvia s journey up a great pine tree. For example, in describing the tree, the narrator uses personification as he mentions the huge tree asleep yet in the paling moonlight. The use of personification harkens back to those universal moments in childhood in which everything alive had human feelings, and creates an emotional attachment between the reader and the tree. Jewett also uses other figurative language, like similes, to relate the grandeur of the tree to the audience. She writes, It [the tree] was like a great main mast to the voyaging earth... In comparing the tree to the great mast of a ship, the author invokes feelings of awe at its size. Jewett makes great use of imagery to help the audience imagine the setting in its complete ... They were just trying to show that they rule. Jimok kicked him, but Albert quickly got up. Get away from him, what did he do to you! a new voice shouted. The bullies looked back, it was Jeremy, and Mr. Brickson. The bullies ran away quickly, keeping their head down, trying not to be seen. • 26. The Crucible and The Salem Witch Trials by Arthur Miller... Arthur Miller wrote plays as a way of showing people the real picture of what life was really like during the Great Depression and after World War II. Before the Great Depression many Americans were living in a significant time period, the Roaring Twenties. People had radios, automobiles, and movies with sounds. Then it all suddenly came to an end with the Stock Market Crash, leading to the Great Depression. During the Great Depression, Americans faced poverty, and had no income because jobs weren t available. Throughout his life Miller influenced many people with his plays, and his contributions to this day because people want to read and understand what was truly happening in past history. While Miller was married to his first wife, he had an affair with Marilyn Monroe, who later would become his wife. Marilyn Monroe was a great influence in his life inspiring him to write After the Fall (1964), which was an open portrayal of his marriage with Monroe. Arthur s purpose for writing literature was to unmask the problems and issues of capitalism so the people could have a fair understanding of the truth but in his plays rather than newspapers and magazines. In the nineteen fifty s, Miller was starting to go downhill. During this time, one of Millers most popular and recognized works; The Crucible was playing on Broadway. The Crucible showed a relationship with the Communist Red Scare that America was facing during this. The Communist Red Scare took place shortly after the end of World War I. It was a nationwide fear of communist, socialists, and other fears America was facing. Since the Red Scare was such a big deal to many Americans during this time in American history, Millers face drastically declined. With the production of Millers, The Crucible, it brought more attention and suspicion on Miller. Compare and contrast The Echoing Green with The Schoolboy by Compare and contrast The Echoing Green with The Schoolboy by William Blake Both The Echoing Green and The Schoolboy are classed under the section, Songs of Innocence , which at first suggests that they will be of a similar nature. However this presumption is dispelled early on, as one examines the issues behind the often comparable wording. Many elements in The Schoolboy do echo those in The Echoing Green and visa versa, but the atmospheres of each poem that are presented are so different that it becomes difficult to see how two such contrasting pieces of work can unite in the same genre. The Echoing Green is one of Blake s most idyllic poems, as it is set in a pastoral and carefree atmosphere, which centres ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By using the image of a summer morn in the first stanza, Blake creates a tranquil and untainted atmosphere, and descriptions such as birds sing and the distant huntsman winds his horn add an auditory element in an almost identical way to the previous poem. However the serene scene does not continue into the second verse, where the tone changes and Blake describes how having to go to school ruins such a beautiful day: it drives all joy away . The use of the word drives is quite strong and terminates the flowing nature of the previous verse, and the repetition of a summer morn allows one to contrast the two verses. From hence forward, The Schoolboy continues with a fairly negative tone, switching from the first person, I drooping sit to a more philosophical stance towards the end, How shall we gather what griefs destroy? . The stoical conclusion I feel demonstrates the implications of education, and shows that, if buds are nipped , one not only damages childhood but also runs the risk of establishing a long term effect on the individual, later on in life. Both poems use time to illustrate the changing nature of the individuals, but even this is performed in very different ways. The increasing darkness of The Schoolboy could be seen as representational of the changing seasons, adding to the aspect of the natural world in the poem, especially as the final verses ... Emancipation Of Women In Othello Essay Othello, one of William Shakespeare s classics, is an intricate play written on the life of a soldier in the sixteenth century, set in the backdrop of a war between Venice and Turkey. This century, referred to as Renaissance (the era of re birth), marks the emancipation of women. Plays in the Renaissance featured women who would break the rules and stand up for themselves, their honor. This was the era where plays portrayed women trying to come to power, overthrowing the concept of power being only with stereotypical men. • 30. Federal Preemption Should Be Easily Decided David Gorhan MBA 610 Business Law Final Paper: Federal Preemption January 25, 2015 Cases about federal preemption should be easily decided. The basis of the concept is written clearly in the Supremacy Clause of the United States Constitution. Article VI, Paragraph 2 states: This Constitution, and the laws of the United States which shall be made in pursuance thereof; and all treaties made, or which shall be made, under the authority of the United States, shall be the supreme law of the land; and the judges in every state shall be bound thereby, anything in the Constitution or laws of any State to the contrary notwithstanding. (Cornell University Law School, n.d.) Essentially, the Supremacy Clause states that the laws promulgated by the U.S. government take priority over any laws that the individual states have enacted. The forefathers of the United States understood that while some issues should be under the states discretion, others have more of a national concern. Based on the Supremacy Clause, states are prohibited from passing laws that are inconsistent with federal law. In turn state constitutions have also inserted Supremacy Clauses in their own constitutions that prohibit the municipalities from enacting laws that are inconsistent with state laws. However obvious and simple this concept sounds, the Supreme Court of the U.S. (SCOTUS) has seen over twelve cases in the last five years concerning federal preemption and the balance between state and federal power and ... Her Majesty The Queen) in the fact that they both seem to be entering amalgamations in order to receive a tax free benefit. In Copthorne Holdings Ltd. v. Canada, the PUC of the previously known subsidiary became included in the PUC of the amalgamated corporation. In Groupe Honco Inc. v. Her Majesty The Queen, the capital dividend account of Old Supervac transferred to the amalgamated corporation New Supervac. In order to receive tax free benefits, the parent and subsidiary corporations in Copthorne Holdings became sister corporations prior to amalgamation in order to have a larger PUC. When shares were redeemed and a payout occurred to the non resident shareholder, it was much larger than it would have been had the subsidiary PUC been cancelled upon amalgamation. In the Groupe Honco case, the acquirers of the Old Supervac claimed to have no knowledge of the capital dividend account. When the CDA came to light, they then tried to pay out a capital dividend from New Supervac to Groupe Honco who then paid a capital dividend to Gestion Paul Lacasse. In both situations the parties are disobeying the anti avoidance rule.
