Essay On Kashmir
Writing an essay on the topic of Kashmir is a complex task that requires a delicate balance of
historical accuracy, geopolitical understanding, cultural sensitivity, and analytical prowess. The
Kashmir issue is deeply rooted in a complicated history of territorial disputes, political
complexities, and regional tensions, making it a challenge to present a comprehensive and
unbiased view.
One of the difficulties lies in navigating the diverse perspectives surrounding the Kashmir
conflict. The region has been a flashpoint for decades, involving India, Pakistan, and China, each
with its own narrative and interests. Crafting an essay that accurately represents these
perspectives while maintaining objectivity can be a daunting task. Researchers must sift through
a plethora of historical documents, political statements, and cultural analyses to present a
nuanced and well-rounded argument.
Moreover, the human aspect of the conflict adds another layer of complexity. The people of
Kashmir have experienced the impact of political decisions, armed conflicts, and social
upheavals. Balancing the human stories with the broader geopolitical context requires sensitivity
and a deep understanding of the region's cultural nuances.
Another challenge is keeping the essay up-to-date. The Kashmir situation is dynamic, with
political developments, international interventions, and shifting alliances constantly shaping the
narrative. Staying informed about the latest events and incorporating them into the essay can be
demanding, especially given the fast-paced nature of global politics.
In conclusion, writing an essay on Kashmir demands not only thorough research and analytical
skills but also a profound understanding of the historical, political, and cultural dimensions of the
issue. The complexity of the topic requires a careful and nuanced approach to avoid
oversimplification or bias. For those seeking assistance with similar essays or any other academic
writing challenges, services like HelpWriting.net offer valuable support and resources.

Summary Of Plunkitt Of Tammany Hall
The book Plunkitt of Tammany Hall can leave readers with mixed feelings about
politics from Plunkitt s perspective. Plunkitt, himself, used some questionable
tactics while he was a politician and defends what he did; such as the difference
between honest graft and dishonest graft. Plunkitt lived in the world of politics
for forty plus years and thrived in the middle of it all with his political machine,
Tammany Hall. The views Plunkitt held differ from those of the Founding Fathers
of the United States of America. Politics was a word that was used flippantly in
Plunkitt s vocabulary. To him, being a politician and living in the world of election
and re election was all a game. He used his status as a politician to gain power,
money, and influence on the people surrounding him. An example of Plunkitt
using his status to gain money can be found in the first chapter of the book. I see
my opportunity and I take it. I go to that place and I buy up all the land I can in the
neighborhood. Then the board of this or that makes its plan public, and there is a
rush to get my land, which nobody cared particular for before. Ain t it perfectly

Plunkitt seems to have a utopia planned for the entire City of New York; for it to
become an oligarchy under the careful watch and guidance of the political machine,
Tammany Hall. Plunkitt describes how no one, but the Tammany Hall leaders, would
have to worry about anything if New York became its own state. Plunkitt even
references President Abraham Lincoln, saying the government of Tammany Hall is
one that Lincoln would have blessed. Plunkitt continues to talk about how he would
do everyone a favor by helping them until he believes they can stand on their own
two feet. To show what he means, he uses the analogy of how the federal government
is looking after and helping the
Do Disney s Animated Movies Offer A Reflection Into The...
Final Research Question:
Do Disney s animated movies offer a reflection into the development and
strengthening of Human Rights throughout the 20th Century?
Provisional answer to question:
Human Rights can be defined simply as being fundamental rights which all human
beings are inherently entitled to regardless of their nation, location, language,
religion, ethnic origin or any other status. Although today basic Human Rights are
mostly internationally recognized, this was not always the case. The Universal
Declaration of Human Rights was only formally adopted in 1948 by the United
Nations General Assembly after the destruction of World War 2. Disney was
founded in 1923 and since then has been active in releasing animated movies
throughout the years. Always being conscious of its younger audience, Disney
accepted less graphic versions of fairytales told in hundreds of different formats
from as early as Ancient Greece and China. An example of this is the story of
Cinderella which was first noted by Greek Historian Strabo. Beautiful Sleeping
Beauty in the first known story told in the 12th Century as a Norse Saga was not
awoken by a sweet kiss from a Prince but alas was awoken by having her arm cut
off. When this story was later adapted in 1528 through a French Romance story
called Peace forest and again retold in 1636 where poor Sleeping Beauty was
awoken by a married Prince who then raped her. In my opinion the fact that Disney
acknowledged and accepted the less vicious

Developing Social Network and Strengthening Social Support for New International
Students of Ohio University
Background
International students need social support because they will face at least two
challenges in the new academic settings. First, the adaptation to the new environment
because of different geographic location, climate and also different culture. Second,
adaptation to new educational system that may differ with home country system with
different academic demand. Moreover, International students will also challenged by
being away from family and relatives and also will deal with technical and financial
aspects. Consequently developing the new one or enhance the existing social network

Greek Body Art
When you look up the word expression in the dictionary you will find it means
indication of feeling, art or character as is the voice, the face or artistic expression.
Now put body in front of it and you can open the subject into anything that is body
expression. The most common way the human body is expressed is through art. For
example the Roman Greek arts expressed the body in giant marble statues of their
gods and goddesses; often in battle scenes or shrines to them. The New York Times
had an exhibit on Greek Art and described it as Energy, movement and impetus within
stillness; line, harmony and proportion. These things, so vital in the art of dance, also

Commedia Dell Arte
Commedia dell arte literally means comedy of the actors. One side was comedic
theatre that included improvisation, the other was plays that were based on written
texts. The art form came into being around 1550 and reached its height of success in
Italy around 1650. During this time, the great stars of Italian comedyperformed,
including Flaminio Scala, Francesco Andreini and his wife Isabella. The deaths of
those performers and an economic decline in Italy made the drop in the popularity of
the commedia dell arte, which continued to be an important form of theatre until
1780. It can be used effectively in drama today to form characters, add humour or
base storylines off of.
Commedia is made up of several, stock characters, all with short, simple storylines of
their own. Each stock character of the commedia evolved a distinct set of attributes,
speech, gestures, props, and costume that became standard to the portrayal of the
character. Exaggerated gestures and odd speech/accents were used to convey emotion
and intention. The distinctive costumes held particular appeal for modellers of small
sculpture such as Franz Anton Bustelli, who made porcelain figures of commedia
characters. The characters of commedia usually act and gesture very strangely,...

They have grossly exaggerated features that show their status and personality type.
All but two characters (Isabella and Flavio) wear masks because of their meaning.
Since Commedia is a mixture of street performance and theatre, it requires little

and allow them to form a persona more easily as it can create the feeling of

Epilepsy Affected Worldwide
Epilepsy: Fifty Million Affected Worldwide Epilepsy is a neurological disorder
having to do with abnormal electrical activity in the brain. Often times, people who
suffer from epilepsy tend to have frequent seizures. These seizures happen due to an
overwhelming amount of electrical activity in the brain. This electrical activity can
make you lose control of your body movement, functions, and awareness. About fifty
million people worldwide are said to be affected by epilepsyand seizures.
Different Types of Seizures There are three different types of seizures. These
different types of seizure are distinguished depending on the location in the brain of
which the electrical activity began. These seizures are partial seizures, generalized

First, you must remain calm and cool. Secondly, you want to move things out of
the way like glasses, ties, and also any hard or sharp objects close by that can cause
injury. Another thing to remember is to put something soft under the head to
protect it. If possible, try to turn them on their side. You should also time the
seizure to help the doctor determine what kind of seizure it was. Lastly, you want to
control the crowd if there s one, call 9 1 1 and check for their medical bracelet or
card. It s important to remember the things you should avoid doing. Don t try to
hold down the person because you can hurt yourself or them. You shouldn t offer
food or drinks when it first begins because any little thing can cause them to choke.
Most believe that when someone is having an epileptic seizure they can swallow their

can only be done after the seizure has stopped and only if the person is not breathing

Why Did Lincoln s Assassination Weaken The North
Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by a .44 Derringer that is stored in the Ford s
Theatre National Historic Site. The assassination of Abraham Lincoln was a small
part in the larger plan to weaken the Union so that the Confederacy may have a last
hurrah. The assassination of Abraham Lincoln was an extremely destructive and led
to the North to have a deep hatred towards the South. The assassinationattempt on
Lincoln, the Vice President, and his Secretary of State was deeply destructive to the
Union. To understand the results of this assassination, one must understand the
assassination of Abraham Lincoln, the larger plan to weaken the North, and what

John Wilkes Booth was killed by a Union soldier on the Garrett Farm. He hid in a
barn which was burned down to find him and he was shot in the back of the neck
by a Union soldier. George Azterodt was the assassin that was supposed to kill
Andrew Johnson, but lost his nerve. He was killed by hanging in July 1865. Lewis
Powell was the assassin that was hired to kill the Secretary of State, William
Seward. He entered the Seward home and injured him and his son as well as a
bodyguard. He was later captured and hung in July 1865. A lesser known conspirator
was Mary Surratt. She owned a boarding house in Washington were the conspirators
met and planned the assassinations. She was hung and was the first woman executed
in U.S. history. In my opinion, I believe that the punishments that the conspirators
received was just and fair. The punishment was execution by hanging, The hanging
was just for what they did to the U.S. and what they attempted. They were treated as
traitors and terrorists, which they deserved. I believe that terrorists should be put in
jail if they are domestic. If they are foreign we should use the rules that are set by
their country of origin. In conclusion, the assassination of Abraham Lincoln was a
small part in the larger plan to weaken the Union so that the Confederacy may have a

Analysis Of The Storm By Kate Chopin
In the short story The Storm , written by Kate Chopin she creates an amazing setting
with a perfect environment for an adulterous affair to take place. Chopin not only
creates this horrible, nasty storm as perfect coincidence to push Alce into the house
of Calixta, but the storm also serves as a symbol of the affair between the two once
lovers.
The story takes place in the far south and portrays an act of adultery between the
main characters Calixta, and Alce both married with children. It all starts with a
horrible rain storm and the house of Calixta and Bobinot. The presence of the
storm is not at all that much of a coincidence for as you get to reading you began to
realize it is the main force behind the affair. As you can concluded from the story
when she states, He expressed an intention to remain outside, but it was soon
apparent that he might as well have been out in the open: (2 Chopin). Due to how
strong and chaotic the storm had gotten, Chopin expresses that even though Alce
took cover on and under Calixta s porch to escape the rain, it was just like standing
out in the open. The water beat in upon the boards in driving sheets, and he went
inside, closing the door after him (2 Chopin). So even in the beginning we see that
Chopin intends to use the ferocious storm to move the story along driving the two
characters to now take shelter together in the house of Calixta and Bobinot.
The story begins with Calixta s husband, Bobinot, and son, Bini, inside a local store.
They both are on their way out when they notice the storm moving in quickly, and
they make the conscious decision to wait it out, so they both reside in the store. Kate
Chopin even goes as far as to write with a touch of irony when she has the husband
and son worry about Calixta s safety. As seen here, Mama ll be fraid, yes, he
suggested with blinking eyes (1). Here you see Bini is asking his father if he thinks
Calixta will be afraid of the fast approaching storm, insinuating that they believe she
is all alone in the house when the storm hits, just like the way they had left her.
Because both are completely unaware of the events about to unfold in the foreseen
future.
Meanwhile Calixtra is at home feeling no uneasiness for

Being a world class classic sedan car M5, it targets the middle or high income
people as their customers. And these target customers will not usually pay seriously
attention on the price. So the purchase decision made by this group of people will
always depend on the product features, quality or even just image. These target
customers and up to date technology make M5 stay a high price.

Besides, the historical price chart of M5 has been shown above. It shows that the
average price is totally different in different model year. This means that the price
strategy of BMW M5 has depended on the market environment. The changing in
price will of course affect the demand of BMW M5, which is based on supply
demand theory and its large potential customer base.
Because of inconformity in target customers and price strategy, reducing price may
increase demand of M5, but it will not be a big change for M5 because it already has
a large loyalty customer base.
What s more, the price is not only affected by demand. It may also be influenced by
dealer to dealer. Different dealer will offer a different price because of delivery fee.
Thus it is another particular factor that causes price difference.

Curleys Wife Analysis
Curly s Wife
Curlys Wife is a very powerful and yet powerless character within the novel Of Mice
and Men as Steinbeck uses her to reflect the prejudice against women in the 1930s
since they had very little rights. Just from her title Curlys Wife she has no actual
name, this shows that she is just Curlys property and powerless in the sense that she
hasn t got her own individual identity, only an identity through her husband, also she
doesn t have enough power to be called a woman instead she is discriminated
against and is called derogatory terms such as a tart when Slim first speaks of her to
George by saying I think Curly married a tart showing no respect for her

feeling empathy for her character
To conclude, Steinbeck uses Curlys Wife to get the readers awareness of how
much women were discriminated against in the 1930s and how lonely and isolated
she was because of her being a female. She wasn t seen as her own individual
person but as a strand of someone else; her husband Curly. She used her best

Low And Decreasing Self Esteem During Adolescence
Low and Decreasing Self Esteem During Adolescence Critique
Steiger, Allemand, Robins, and Fend (2014) hypothesized that not only the level but
also the change in self esteem affect depression. Using data from over a 23 year
span, they investigated adolescent level and change in self esteem and examined
their predictive effects on adult depressive symptoms two decades later. Self esteem
was assessed annually from age 12 to 16, and depression was assessed at age 16 and
35. Subsequently, they found that results demonstrated that both the level and change
in self esteem served as predictors for adult depression (Steiger et al., 2014).

domain specific self esteem was also measured. This was a measurement of physical
appearance and academic competence. Subsequently, each self esteem domain was
measured with six items. Participants rated each item on a scale consisting of 0 for
not true and 1 for true for me. The items were then added to create scores ranging
from 0 to 6. Further still, depression at age 16 was measured using 13 items from
the original Beck Depression Inventory, while depression from age 12 15 was not
measured (Steiger et al., 2014). Subsequently, participants were asked how often
they had experienced depressive symptoms during the preceding week. The
participants were informed to indicate which sentence out of four possible answers
reflected their feeling most accurately. In adulthood, seven items from the Beck
Depression Inventory were used to measure depressive symptoms. The Participants
were asked how often they typically experience depressive symptoms. Participants
rated each item on a 6 point scale. Consequently, Steiger et al. (2014) controlled for
three variables when examining the effects of self esteem on depression. First, they
controlled for peer popularity when examining the effect of global self esteem. Peer
popularity was rated through peers of the same school and
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Discrete Wavelet
Transform
Discrete Wavelet Transform DWT is a frequency based transform which is
performed on wavelets. It can be 1 D, 2 D and etc. It divides an image into four sub
bands, namely пѓ LL (Low resolution image) пѓ HL (Horizontal) пѓ LH (vertical)
пѓ HH (diagonal) This division can be performed up to many levels. It captures not
only notion of frequency content but also temporal content. Wavelets provide a
mathematical way of encoding information in such a way that it is layered according
to level of detail. DWT is more computationally efficient than other transformations
because of its excellent localization properties. Wavelets are capable of complete
lossless reconstruction of image[6]. Advantages of DWT 1.No need to divide the

Three levels of rotations have been implemented. First the original watermarked
image is being rotated by 90o , then 180o and at last the image is being rotated by

be reduced using a spatial filter, though when smoothing an image, an undesirable
outcome may result in the blurring of fine scaled image edges and details because
they also correspond to blocked high frequencies. Image compression Image
compression may be lossy or lossless. Lossless compression is preferred for
archival purposes and often for medical imaging, technical drawings, clip art, or
comics. Lossy compression methods, especially when used at low bit rates,
introduce compression artifacts. Lossy methods are especially suitable for natural
images such as photographs in applications. Salt and pepper Noise Salt and pepper
noise is an attack for which a certain amount of the pixels in the image are either
black or white (hence the name of the noise). Salt and pepper noise can be used to
model defects in the transmission of the image that a pixel is corrupted. Additive

This fact is increasing the importance of private label references. The importance
of price is resulting in the growing importance of discounters as a place to make
daily purchases. Discounters recorded a positive performance in 2009 and it is a
good sign for Marks and Spencer. There is the arrival on to the Spanish market of
low cost outlets such as Kiabi or Primark, and the good performance of second hand
shops which will not have a significant change on opening M S in Spain. (Ibid)
Marks and Spencer s main competitor would be El Cortes ingles and Mercadona.
Also, the Spanish retail market continues to be dominated by small, mostly family
owned companies. However, chained retailers increased in importance over the
review period. In 2009, Mercadona led the Spanish retail market, taking El Corte
InglГ©s s position. Mercadona is benefiting from the dropping price strategy in
order to help Spanish consumers deal with the crisis. Also, the company is seeing
sales through its website increase at a strong pace. Meanwhile, El Corte InglГ©s has
suffered from the poor economic conditions mostly due to its overpriced image. (Ibid)
As seen in previous years, non store retailing saw a much stronger performance than
store based retailing in terms of growth in value sales. This was due to the strong
performance of Internet retailing, albeit from a still very low base. The growing
popularity of online shopping is a consequence of the
Essay on Biomechanics of Running
Introduction: A Qualitative Analysis of Running
In the 1970 s, thousands of people took to the road with a new trend of exercise
running. It was fairly easy; just put one foot in front of the other as fast as you can
and go as far as you can. Feel the burn in your chest? The sweat trickling down your
face? The throb in your knees as your foot pounds into the ground with every step?
Well then, you re exercising! You re running! Since then, running has become a
dominant factor in sports and fitness; a factor so prevalent that the number of
musculoskeletal injuries due to running has also increased over the last quarter
century. These chronic injuries are usually due to overuse, improper training
techniques, or a combination of the two. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
High correlations were found between the muscle forces and the VOI time curves for
the monoarticular hip, knee and ankle extensor muscles. However, the correlations
for the biarticular muscles were low. The results from the model concluded that the
active state of the gastrocnemius was high during the stretch phase; the active state of
the soleus started out low during the stretch phase, but reached a higher plateau as the
stretch phase ended and the shortening phase began. Therefore, the difference in
stimulation is a compromise between minimizing energy dissipation and optimal use
of the stretch shortening cycle.
Nig, DeBoer, and Fisher (1995) did a comparison of treadmill and overground
running. Twenty two subjectsran on four different surfaces: overground and three
treadmills, each varying in size and power. Each subject was filmed in the sagittal and
frontal (posterior) plane. Body landmarks were placed on the superior border of the
greater trochanter, the lateral femoral epicondyle, the lateral malleolus, and the head
of the fifth metatarsal of the right leg. Subjects ran at four different speeds varying
from 3.0 6.0 m/s. It was concluded that the subjects systematically planted their feet in
a flatter position on the treadmill than overground. Therefore, using a treadmill for
running assessment can lead to inadequate conclusions about overground running.
The Constitution Of Nepal 2015
Imagine how would you feel if you waited for something for decades but, when it
arrived, some of your brothers and sisters did not like it.Excitement and frustration
simultaneously.
That is the predicament which the Nepali people have been feeling today. The
people waited for 65 years for a constitution written by their elected representatives.
Such a charter Constitution of Nepal 2015 has been finally promulgated today, on 20
September. Most people seem happy but some are clearly agitated.
The country had waited for this day since 1950. At the time of removing Rana
oligarchy, King Tribhuvan had promised to call elections for a constituent assembly
to draft a new constitution. But that did not transpire. Kings gifted the statute ... Show

The second assembly, elected in 2013, has been able to sort out the issue providing
for seven states, though not to everyone s liking.
Five things put pressure on Nepali leaders to deliver the constitution this time around.
First, the Nepali Congress Party and the Communist Party of Nepal (UML), which
preferred a few multi ethnic states, secured nearly two thirds majority in the assembly
and formed a coalition government with smaller parties, enhacing their strength
further. Thus they had the number and confidence to sail the charter to the finish line.
Second, bothPrime Minister Sushil Koirala and UML leader KP Oli were
personally men in a hurry. The ailing Koirala wanted to promulgate the statute on his
watch. The ailing Oli wanted to become premier before his health marred his
ambition. Therefore, Koirala and Oli promised support to each other to realize their
respective ambitions, as quickly as possible.
Third, the devastating chain quakes and aftershocks in April and May this year they
killed nearly 10,000 people, destroyed nearly 7 billion rupees worth of property and
affected one third of the country s population spurred the coalition to accelerate the
pace. It became absurd for them to quibble over the fine prints of the charter at a time
when the people and country cried for relief and reconstruction in the wake of the
natural calamity.
Fourth, the Maoist leader

Leadership and managing change
There are 18% of respondents considers that all of the changes in the organization
are making their work better. It is disappointing, but the score is lower from
previous year for 1% and for 7% lower than average level among other civil
departments. From the point of view of 31% of staff, Home Office has clear

previous year for 2%, however it is still under the benchmark by 9%. The feeling,
that organization as a whole is managed well, is inherent only for 28% of employees.

Nanotechnology And The Energy Crisis
Nanotechnology and the Energy Crisis A major problem facing the world today is
the energy crisis. The amount of energy being consumed is much greater than the
fossil fuels of the Earth will be able to keep up with in the long run. As energy use
continues to grow, the demand for energy will exceed its supply. This is obviously
a huge problem, and why this is being referred to as a crisis. However,
nanotechnology can potentially solve this problem due to its ability to help make
every aspect of producing or consuming energy significantly more efficient. Yet,
the use of nanotechnology in solving the energy crisis would not come without
large impacts: some positive, but some negative. The Energy Crisis To understand
how nanotechnology can solve the energy crisis, the energy crisis itself must fully
be understood. While many throw out years when the world will run out of
energy, these figures assume that no change will occur in the current consumption
of energy. Since the world is constantly changing, so will the energy industry. There
are so many factors that go into why one day the world will not run out of energy.
The biggest reason is economics. As supply of fossil fuels decreases, the price will
rise, and demand for renewable resources will increase. Another reason is that
scientists, especially as it becomes more economically efficient, will look to find
other sources of energy (Bradley, 2004). Yet, there is still a problem. No matter how
many fossil fuels people
The Importance Of Teacher Quality And Promote Learning
The purpose of teacher evaluations is to ensure teacher quality and to promote
learning. The Framework for Teaching, by Charlotte Danielson, has effectively
identified 4 domains reflecting the responsibilities of teachers. The domains of
teacher responsibility outlined in this evaluation tool are: Planning and Preparation,
The Classroom Environment, Instruction, and Professional Responsibilities. Within
each of the 4 domains, there are descriptive elements exemplifying the characteristics
of the domain. Teacher quality is an important factor in maintaining excellence in
educational performance within schooldistricts. Therefore, districts must determine
an effective and efficient way of evaluating new teachers and career teachers in...

With this information, schools gain a valuable resource in teachers who can mentor
or coach peers. These accomplished teachers become an example of good teaching.
Another valuable use of this evaluation tool is that it can be used to evaluate the
skills of teachers for licensing candidacy, contract continuance, and affirmation of
distinguished demonstration of teaching skills of experienced teachers. Using the
tool for training teachers to mentor or coach and to evaluate teaching skills and
responsibilities provides reliable evidence to ensure teacher quality. The ongoing use
of this evaluation tool will also provide feedback and evidence of growth in the
domains of teaching responsibilities. This compilation of evidence provides
documentation of strengths and weaknesses among teachers that can be used to
determine areas needed for professional development. Teachers will be an active part
of the evaluation process as they learn and grow through communication, reflection,
and interaction with peers and supervisors. Teachers can learn about themselves
through the implementation of Teaching Framework. Learning takes place because
teachers will have the opportunity to discover a common understanding of what good
teaching is, receive feedback through interactive performance critiques.

How Does Steinbeck Describe Lennie s Disability
When reading Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, the reader is introduced to the
character Lennie. Lennie is a male adult that has some kind of disability. Steinbeck
doesn t disclose what disability Lennie has. This report will contain some information
on some possible disabilities that Lennie could have, information on those
disabilities, and my opinions. Lennie acts like a child, but he looks like an adult.
Many people might think of down syndrome, autism, or something related to that.
Lennie has more problems that just acting like a child though. He is forgetful, he
gets fixated on something and has a hard time removing himself from that item or
idea, and more. Lennie also has a hard time thinking for himself. This might be

Elder Abuse and Neglect

M230 Medical Law and Ethics Course. Elder abuse is the most common type of
abuse that gets looked over. People normally do not suspect or even think an
elderly person may be getting abused, but this is a serious topic in nursing homes
and hospitals. Every health care professional needs to learn the warning signs and
symptoms of elder abuse to prevent this from happening. According to the National
Center on Elder Abuse, elder abuse is a term referring to any knowing, intentional or
negligent act by a caregiver or any other person that causes harm or a serious risk of

Unfortunately, many residents in nursing homes today are being starved,
dehydrated, over medicated, and suffer painful sores. Often times they are
isolated, ignored, and deprived from social contact and stimulation. Care givers
are often overworked and grossly underpaid which often results in them showing
rude and abusive behavior to the residents. Studies have found that individuals in
poor health are more likely to be abused than individuals who are in relatively good
health. In addition, caregivers who are dependent on the elder financially are also
more likely to perpetrate abuse (De Benedictis, 2011). A simple request for such
things as water or an escort to the bathroom may cause the care giver to respond in
a rude and offensive way demonstrating inappropriate behavior. According to an
article written by Bryan Robinson (2002), Helen Love, a 75 year old grandmother of
three, looked into the video camera and told of being severely beaten by a nursing
home caregiver who discovered she had soiled herself. He choked me and he went
and broke my neck, said Love, who had to wear a metal halo in the videotaped
deposition from July 1998. He broke my wrist bones, in my hand. He put his hand
over my mouth. Two days later, Love died. There is no one good explanation of
elder abuse and neglect. Elder abuse is a difficult problem that can emerge from

following sections will address the three issues, mentioned by top management, by
first describing them, then interpreting them and lastly they will be evaluated.

In 2011, REI partnered with The Nature Conservancy to implement an afforestation
project on the Bayou Bartholomew property in Louisiana, which will restore forest
continuity with the adjacent Chemin a Haut State Park. Funding provided voluntarily
by REI Adventures will finance the future retirement of carbon offsets from this
project. Through this effort, REI supported The Nature Conservancy s restoration of
this forest ecosystem, as well as the design of a carbon project.
This carbon project has been validated and registered through a credible third party
certification system (the Verified Carbon Standard). The effort will contribute to long
term systemic change, benefitting the atmosphere and the forest ecosystem, and has
been designed to produce verifiable carbon offsets in the future.
Though REI would seek new and innovative solutions to all aspects within the
company, there is at least one were they could only offset rather than reduce. REI s
largest source of GHG emissions was REI Adventures which generated 31 percent of
its total, namely flying members to adventure destinations. This exception was dealt
with by purchasing carbon offsets as a part of the travel package, paid by REI.

The Roman Or Chinese Method
The Roman or Chinese Method in Governing?
The Empire of the Great Tang and the Byzantine Empire existed on a similar large
scale in the around same period. Both empires dominated vast land area and had
significant impact on the human history. The territories of both empires were so
large that were even difficult to manage in the 21 century. On one hand, the Tang
Empire used the examination method to select officials. On the other hand, the
Byzantine Empire used the republic system to elect officials (Mckay). How did these
methods seek the proper people to govern the such immense territory and large

Tang civilians from different classes also had fairly equal chance to become officials
and influence the government policy making. This also allowed the government to be
diverse and innovative, which also implied more debates which had happened in
previous dynasties such as The Debate on Salt and Iron s monopoly between the
learned man and the minister in Han Dynasty. Throughout the debate, the emperor of
China was able to hear the voices from different perspectives from different classes.
Whereas, the Byzantine Empire preserved old Roman law and political system
(McKay et al. 203). The Senate was the major voice of patricians and the plebeians
to the Byzantine Emperor. The plebeian were generally less educated and less
knowledgeable. The plebeian s impact on the decision and policy were weak since
they were not close to the emperor and shared less mutual benefit with the emperor
compare with the plebeian (Chang). This situation was similarly like early The
Roman Senate and People time period. Furthermore, the patricians were usually
born in wealthy aristocracy families and they were more likely to become officials.
They considered their own interest and benefit for the their class and less for the
civilians. Thus, the Byzantine Empire had less diverse voices in bureaucracy and had
less intelligent representatives of humble birth people would play

Before we talk about O blood group. I would like to include that O blood type caught
my interest for writing a research paper. It s because I personally have O negative
blood group which is rare and considered to be a universal donor. So first of all, we
must know what is blood group? Blood group is actually a different type of blood
with different and complex chemical system found in the human being, also
determine compatibility during a blood transfusion (nzblood.co.nz). According to
American Red Cross, negative blood group is always 50% compatible then
positive blood group. Blood group is determined by two blood system. They are
antigens and Rh factor. These two are the one that brings changes in the blood.
Antigens are the foreign elements like blood cells that stimulated the immune
system to produce antibody during a blood transfusion. What this does is, it
protects the body from harmful substances. They are ABO found in the surface of
blood compose of sugar and protein. A and B are antigens while O doesn t have
antigens. And Rh factor is considered to be a protein on the surface of RBC .i.e. Red
Blood Cell. Blood type having low protein in it has always negative Rh while blood
type having protein in it has positive Rh (redcrossblood.org). This led me to ask one
question Are they really a universal donor and how antigen and Rh factor play their
role?

Senior Stereotypes
In todays society there is the negative stereotype that old aged people are uneducated,
unhealthy, and a liability in the workforce. However this is a misconception in todays
world and the reality is that these characteristics do not necessarily reflect the old
aged population. According to Andrew Sixsmith, director of the GerontologyResearch
centre at Simon Fraser University baby boomers are probably one of the richest and
healthiest generation in human history, as well as being better educated than
previous generations (Luke, 2014). An issue that arises in this article concerning

physical activities into consideration when looking towards attaining good health.
Compared to previous generations seniors are now incorporating physical

allowed them to stay active and also get social interaction with members of their

context of the activity theory, which is a way of effectively aging by staying
active. Seniors nowadays are taking physical activities and exercise more serious

An Analysis of the Current Business Environment in
Thailand
An Analysis of the Current Business Environment in Thailand
Executive Summary Trade relations between Thailand and Australia have steadily
increased over the years, and the two countries recently celebrated 60 years of
bilateral trade. The strong ties that exist between Australia and Thailand have been
further strengthened in recent years through a series of free trade initiatives, reduced
or eliminated tariffs and, prior to 2003, through the provision of Australian economic
development advisors to Thailand. Despite the positive trends in commerce, Thailand
has been rocked by political turmoil from time to time over the years, and student
uprisings in Bangkok in particular have threatened the political stability of the
country s ruling parties in ways that had short term implications for Australians doing
business in Thailand. Moreover, because it has become increasingly integrated into
the global economy, Thailand has not been immune from the Great Recession of
2008. Nevertheless, the business climate in Thailand remains highly favorable in
general and especially favorable for Australian companies of all types and sizes as
described further below.

The Importance Of Teaching English As A Foreign
Language
Introduction
In order to effectively teach English as a foreign language it is essential to
understand not only the learners current ability level but also their desires and goals
in learning a language. By combing these two aspects, an efficient and practical
lesson plan can be designed. In this case the student is already highly proficient even
fluent at times in English, and was determined to be around MM2D level (ITTO
388). Because he studies international business, he is learning English primarily as a
potential occupational skill. Furthermore, because he is already proficient at casual
speech and understanding, it makes most sense to focus on areas he has less
experience with, in this case formal writing and occupational vocabulary as these
skills will likely be essential for his future employment.
Classroom Approach:
Given that the learner in this case is already a high level English speaker, the class
will automatically be at least party derived from the Direct Method. The
Communicative Approach will also be helpful as it stresses the importance of
authentic language usage which in most cases is likely the form on English that will
be spoken in office settings. However the most effective strategy in this case will
likely be the Oral Situational Approach due to the fact that it focuses on learning
language (and specifically vocabulary) based on presenting the lexicon in the context
of a specified situation, in this case a formal, office setting (ITTO
My Career Choice To Be A Pediatrician
WHAT THEY DO
My career choice is to become a physician, specifically a pediatrician. Physicians, in
general, play a big role in society because they are the ones that diagnose and treat
patients who come in with illnesses or injuries. Typically, a physician s duties include
examining patients, updating their charts, viewing their medical records, prescribing
medications as they see fit, and performing and/or analyzing diagnostic tests.
Physicians are in charge of their patients health, so they will often counsel their
patients on their diet and hygiene. To be specific, though, pediatricians are required
to care for and assist infants, children, teens, and young adults. Providing care
includes helping with small cuts and abrasions, giving vaccines, and treating
common illnesses. Physicians are required to be consideration, compassion, and
kindness towards their patients. To sum it up, physicians are responsible for making
sure patients receive the best care possible and feel good.
HOW TO BECOME ONE
To become a physician, one must complete 4 years of undergraduate school and 4
years of medical school. Medical school is very vigorous and highly competitive. To
have edge on other students, it is recommended that you volunteer at local hospitals
to gain experience in a healthcare environment. Some may also have to do 3 to 7
years of residency or internship programs, depending on the specialty. While in a
residency program, you have to get your medical license by passing the
Taking a Look at Information Warfare
INTRODUCTION
Over the last decades, information warfare has become a societal issue. Research
shows that information warfare does not exclude to military, and have penetrated into
commercial word. This issue, is a threat for organization and their assets.
(Knapp,Boulton, 2006)
Information is a valuable asset for businesses and organizations. Advances in
information technology facilities the storing, transferring, and modifying of data.
Organizations use information technologies such as the Internet and networked
technology to reduce operating costs, improve customer service, and improve
productivity. However, Using the Internet has increased the number of frontier that
must be protected and has bought a lot of concerns about security issues. (Ezingeard,
McFadzean, Birchall, 2005)
Although, governments and businesses have spent billions of dollars on IT to protect
their information, Medias highlights that the number of cyber fraud and cyber attacks
by nation states, criminals, and hacktivists is accelerating. ( Ezingeard, McFadzean,
Birchall, 2005)
Using of spying techniques such as espionage is another threats for organization. The
traditional form of espionage is replaced by new technology espionage which uses
advanced electronic and computer devices to steal information and knowledge of
organizations. (Knapp,Boulton, 2006)
In this paper the role of counterintelligence and information assurance, two elements
of information warfare, in business environments is
The Connection Between Masaccio s The Holy Trinity And...
Masaccio s Achieves a Grand Illusion of Depth By Using Perspective The
introduction of perspective to the world of art has significantly changed the way
art is created. Painting s like Masaccio s The Holy Trinity and The Virgin have
played a pivotal role in the history of art as both a definitive example of Early
Renaissance linear perspective and as a kind of prophetic forerunner of the
prospective method discussed nearly a century later by Leon Battista Alberti (Aiken
171). According to Jane Andrew Aiken, Perspective hadn t really been used much
when the time The Holy Trinityand The Virgin had been revealed to the world. The
painting had definitely received a notice by many connoisseurs of art for its different
painting style and focus of topic. Religion was an obvious main focus during the
time Masaccio had done this piece and the fact that he had drawn about the
crucifixion of JesusChrist had caught many people s eyes. The use of perspective in
Masaccio s The Holy Trinity and The Virgin causes the depiction of the crucifixion
of Jesus Christ to be the main focus in the artwork and give a sense of depth to the
painting to the viewers despite their point of view. Masaccio s painting that is in the

He wishes to be a ?champion? for God, cutting down sinners by the sword.
However, I feel that he subconsciously desires to be a ?champion? over his own fear
of damnation and through believing that murdering the damned is God?s calling for
his life, this allows the means to defeat his fear.
Another mental illness that is shown in Robert Wringhim?s life is Multiple
Personality Disorder. Psychologists are still trying to understand what causes MPD.
There is much debate whether this mental condition is caused through nature or
through nurture: I believe, like many psychologists, that it?s a combination of
both. In this belief, MPD victims recall one specific event that?s so traumatic that
their mind escapes insanity by blocking out the event and taking on a new identity
(or identities). It?s a form of the mind?s self defense which allows a victim to go
on living their life without reflecting on harrowing experiences that would result in
madness for the victim. The reason why this disorder is believed to also be caused
by nature is because it helps explain why people who suffer the same or similar
traumatic experiences as MPD victims, never obtain MPD.
On page 170, Robert becomes aware that he looses all track of time. This is very
common for MPD victims. The minds will check in and out of time whenever it
feels a need for safety; the mind still functions, it just takes on the form of a new

Moderate amounts stimulate the mind and relax the muscles, but larger amounts

addictive drug leading to alcoholism. Alcohol is known since antiquity to have
some therapeutic value. Opium and alcohol had long been used as analgesics.
Greek medicine had employed wine and vinegar in wound care. Now we know that

other words it is saying that Brazil should not cause long term damage to the

Staring with the arguments against development using the rainforest, these are
mainly viewed by conservationists, environmentalists and researchers. They feel that
deforestation will have major consequences on the planet in the future. The damage
is most threatening to the ecosystem, which all have knock on effects. For example,
once the trees are cut down it firstly causes many species of life to lose their
habitats, without the covering canopy of trees it also exposes the soil. With the

disturbed because it does not allow the constant evaporation and transpiration,
disrupting rainfall. It can all eventually lead to desertification.
The lack of trees will also increase the levels of carbon dioxide in the air and
accelerate global warming. This is what many people fear to lose, as well as the
many range of plants that provide us with chocolate and also some of the most
important medicines and cures.
However, there are also many beneficial factors of development. Some people
argue that why have the different plants and trees that give us fine furniture,
chocolate and coffee if they are not going to be used in development to eventually
be sold to us. The people of Brazil rely on this development to maintain what is their
daily life. As Brazil is an LEDC it needs to exploit the

The World Of Law Enforcement And Crime Laboratories
In the world of law enforcement and crime laboratories, there is always a great need
to train newly hired crime scene investigators and laboratory analysts. In addition,
continuing education to gain or maintain certifications and/or laboratory accreditation
is important to keep professionals up to date with the newest technologies and
techniques. However, in the United States, licensing and certification for crimescene
and laboratory personnel is not usually required, but often noted as a preferred or
desired qualification (NCR, 2009). If required, certification is usually established at
the agency level and not mandated by the state. With more than 17,000 agencies in
the U.S., ranging in size from just a few officers in rural communities to more than
36,000 sworn officers in the New York PoliceDepartment (Burch, et al., 2012),
consistency in qualifications, training standards and expectations is difficult to find
at any level, regardless of the beliefs held by the general public regarding the
capabilities of their criminal justicesystem. In looking at training issues
internationally, the fragmented scenario in the U.S. is similar to that of Australia, but
countries such as the Netherlands and United Kingdom use centralized training
programmes that tend to be more cost effective and consistent.
There are many career paths within the field of criminal justice. Opportunities exist in
law enforcement, military, the court system, corrections and other public safety
agencies.

Essay on The Disappearance of Flash Websites

for MOST situations but can have its place on the web, given considerations for

HTML5 vs. Flash is the wrong discussion. Accessible rich media is the right one
Jeffrey Zeldman (via twitter)
In the end, we re all just trying to create sites that can be accessed and used, no
matter what tools we use to deliver them.
Healthy competition
In the early days of the web, Flash was pretty much the only way to deliver a rich
experience across different browsers and platforms. CSS and JavaScript were very
inconsistently supported between browsers and relying on them was hardly worth the
trouble.
Flash saw great success early on and pushed forward at an accelerated speed the
small app that mainly made animations quickly became a very worthy development
environment in its own right. Developers and designers alike made a choice to
concentrate their efforts in that arena, often segregating themselves from the open
web and backing the proprietary technology. Flash sites took over and dominated the
web, and Web Standards had a hard time creating the experiences that users were
starting to expect.
Web Standards may have once fallen behind, but they continued to be pushed
forward with the help of the practitioners and those willing to embrace the idea of an
open web.
The benefits of Web Standards and why they are slowly taking over
Users expect rich experiences and, in lots of cases, those great experiences are now

Transcendentalism Depicted in Henry David Thoreau s
The...
Transcendentalism was a trend during the romantic period where some authors chose
to depict the serenity and the innocence that nature holds. Transcendentalists also
believed that living totally dependent on oneself brings out the best in a person.
Being a fairly independent person myself, I can identify with some of their opinions
about life and nature. The idea of nature being a spiritual experience is a rebellious
idea compared to the rationalism of many others during the same time period. The
transcendentalist writer of the late 1700 s, author Henry David Thoreau, shares the
same thoughts about nature, independence, and recreation as I do. The
transcendentalists thought nature is something pure that can be fully appreciated
if civilization is left behind. In Isabel Wilkerson s, The Warmth of Other Suns,
written by Henry David Thoreau, looked at his short term lifestyle of simple living
in natural surroundings with appreciation. Living in Perry County means you do
not have to live with the hustle and bustle of big city living. Instead, we live
everyday in a place with very little noise and interruption much like the outskirts of
Thoreau s town. Although many of us may not care to admit it, Perry County is
full of nature in its most pristine form. Someone like Thoreau would have loved to
stay in a state park such as Fowlers Hollow due to its peacefulness and low number
of visitors. Thoreau s main goal was to find a new level of understanding life with
Social Darwinism And The Progressive Era
2.Already in the late 19th century, the American Federation of Labor had begun to
represent a growing segment of the American population discontented with the status
quo of corporate exploitation. At the onset of the 20th century however this message
began to take particular weight, as evidenced by the tripling of the AFL s
membership and the rise of the Industrial Workers of the World. Labor unions, the
Socialist Party and progressives as a whole took issue with the doctrine of Social
Darwinism and moved forward as a somewhat united front with the goal of bringing
meaningful change to American society. As America made the transition into an
industrial power in the latter half of the 19th century, Social Darwinism became a
prevalent method of rationalizing massive inequality and widespread poverty. This
doctrine of leaving the poorest in the nation to uplift themselves from abject hardship
without being provided any means to do so was exemplified as the American
population became increasingly concentrated in cities. Poor families would often go
without electricity or indoor toilets. Staggering inequality continued into the
Progressive era. It was estimated that J.P. Morgan s financial firm controlled 40
percent of all financial and industrial capital in the nation. The largest conclaves of
organized labor, the Industrial Workers of the World and the American Federation of
Labor, sought to tackle the stifling economic and political climate through sharply
contrasting

The Movie The Dark Knight Essay
The movie The Dark Knight (2008) is in the genre of superhero films. Superhero
films are movies that deal with vigilantes saving the city from criminals. Since the
release of superhero films, criminals have become more evil, heroes have become
more violent and victims have become more innocent. They have also become more
graphic and the crimes have become more unjustifiable. Crimeis a key component of
superhero hero films and is often used to show injustice towards the state. To control
crime, society has to try and deter crime by adding punishment that outweigh the
rewards. Some people are biologically more crime oriented than others and it creates
natural born criminals such as the Joker, the main antagonist in the movie who
constantly challenges the notion of justice. He becomes personal with Batmanforcing
him to come face to face with his ideals, trying to show him how irrational being
good is. Batman, in turn, attempts to put a stop to the Joker s anarchy with the
technology at his disposal. Harvey Dent is considered a symbol of hope because he
relentlessly pursues criminals through legal means as Gotham s District Attorney.
The Criminal Justice System is then corrupted by the Joker, which results in the
death of Rachel Dawes, Harvey s girlfriend. The two of them were captured by
corrupt policeofficers and tied to explosives in two different buildings all while the
Joker was in prison. The Joker then tricks batman into saving Harvey when he thought
that he was going
Fracture Hematoma Research Paper
A fracture occurs when there is a break in a bone. It can usually be healed, so long
as portions of the blood supply, periosteum, and endosteum are still intact. A fractured
bone undergoes repair through a series of four steps.
The first step in bone fracture repair is the formation of a hematoma. When blood
vessels within the bone tear, they hemorrhage. This results in the formation of a clot
at the site of the break. Thus, a fracture hematoma is formed, stopping the flow of
blood into the fracture site which, in turn, cause swelling.
Capillaries then grow into the fracture hematoma, while phagocytes start to clean up
the dead cells within the injury site. The fracture hematoma becomes more organized
into a procallus. Fibroblasts from
The Techniques Used By Emergency Medical Services
Introduction
The topic proposed for research is to discuss and compare the techniques used by
emergency medical services to fully immobilise a patient with suspected spinal
injuries with two highly debatable methods, Spine Immobilisation and Spinal Motion
Restriction (SMR). The research collected will determine the safest and most
practical technique, comparing the advantages and disadvantages of the two.
Discussion
Spinal Immobilisation involves the use of a number of devices to stabilize the spine
after injury, which will consequently prevent further damage to the spine, spinal cord,
surrounding tissue and vital organs. Spinal motion restriction on the other hand, can
be described as being the preferred practice amongst emergency medical practitioners.
Spinal motion restriction aims to maintain the spine in anatomic alignment and
reduce the amount of movement as much as possible. (Physicians, 2015)
Spinal immobilisation is considered for utilization for two specific patient groups:
(1) unconscious injury victims and (2) any patient with a motion injury. These two
specific groups lead to the perception that these patients have a possible spinal injury
and immobilisation is required. (M.J.Sanders, 2010) Applying clear, clinical
guidelines for evaluating a possible spinal injury in a patient can support the
accuracy of pre hospital assessment. The following signs and symptoms may assist in
the decision of full spinal immobilisation:

Comparison Of Anne Of The Green Gables
To begin with, the primary aim of this research paper is to investigate the
similarities of Lucy Maud Montgomery with the main protagonist of her book,
Anne of Green Gables. This will be accomplished by looking back at the early life
of the author, her childhood, and the hardships that she had overcame. Also,
several works that had interpreted and analyzed Montgomery s life had a
substantial contribution to this research paper. The novel Anne of the Green
Gables was written by Lucy Maud Montgomery in the year 1908. In particular, the
Anne of the Green Gables was held as a children s novel. The story followed the
life and journey of Anne Shirley, an 11 year old orphan child. Notably, the novel had
touched the hearts of many people across the globe, thus it is unquestionable when a
mini series adaptation of the novel was released in many... Show more content on

Actually, it was co authored by Benjamin Lefebvre. The book tackles the way the
book had dominated the Canadian readers and their perception on the hidden
meanings that exists in the Anne of the Green Gables. Additionally, Ned Bustard s
book titled Anne of Green Gables Comprehension Guide contains method of
dissecting the novel penned by Montgomery. As a matter of fact, several authors
had taken a special interest in the life story of Lucy Maud Montgomery. The works
of these authors are vital in the comparative analysis of Anne Shirley and
Montgomery. An example of this is the book Lucy Maud Montgomery: The Gift of
Wings that was written by Mary Henley Rubio. In addition, Catherine Andronik had
fancied Montgomery s remarkable life journey, thus, giving her the motivation to
pen the Kindred Spirit: A biography of L. M Montgomery, Creator of Anne of Green

National Security Requirements Exercised The Most...
National security requirements exercised the most significant influence on the
development of airpower in Europe and the United States before the Second World
War (WWII). Nations on both sides of the ocean had experienced the multifaceted
disastrous results of World War I (WWI) and airpower seemed to be the answer for
future wars. Understanding the context and consequences of WWI is vital to
comprehend airpower theorists like Douhet, Mitchell and Trenchard and their
revolutionary thoughts on airpower. The development of aircraft at the beginning of
the twentieth century challenged not only military leadership but also, more
important, the national security of modern states. The basic question was: How will
strategic bombing of enemy territory fit in to national security and military strategy?
This paper will narrow the view on Europe by selecting Great Britain as one of the
most relevant nations in WWII concerning strategic bombing. WWI was the first
total war in the industrial age with unprecedented casualties on all sides of the
belligerent nations. In spite of gigantic troop numbers, both sides expected a quick
war with a decisive victory. However, in 1915, the maneuvering part of the war was
over and resulted ultimately in bloody trench warfare. Furthermore, as the war
continued, attrition of the adversary became the main goal as the battle at Verdun
highlighted. Consequently, aircraft offered an alternative to the static warfare of the
trenches. These newly

Essay On Kashmir. The Kashmir Solution Complete Free Essay with Outline

  • 1. Essay On Kashmir Writing an essay on the topic of Kashmir is a complex task that requires a delicate balance of historical accuracy, geopolitical understanding, cultural sensitivity, and analytical prowess. The Kashmir issue is deeply rooted in a complicated history of territorial disputes, political complexities, and regional tensions, making it a challenge to present a comprehensive and unbiased view. One of the difficulties lies in navigating the diverse perspectives surrounding the Kashmir conflict. The region has been a flashpoint for decades, involving India, Pakistan, and China, each with its own narrative and interests. Crafting an essay that accurately represents these perspectives while maintaining objectivity can be a daunting task. Researchers must sift through a plethora of historical documents, political statements, and cultural analyses to present a nuanced and well-rounded argument. Moreover, the human aspect of the conflict adds another layer of complexity. The people of Kashmir have experienced the impact of political decisions, armed conflicts, and social upheavals. Balancing the human stories with the broader geopolitical context requires sensitivity and a deep understanding of the region's cultural nuances. Another challenge is keeping the essay up-to-date. The Kashmir situation is dynamic, with political developments, international interventions, and shifting alliances constantly shaping the narrative. Staying informed about the latest events and incorporating them into the essay can be demanding, especially given the fast-paced nature of global politics. In conclusion, writing an essay on Kashmir demands not only thorough research and analytical skills but also a profound understanding of the historical, political, and cultural dimensions of the issue. The complexity of the topic requires a careful and nuanced approach to avoid oversimplification or bias. • 2. Summary Of Plunkitt Of Tammany Hall The book Plunkitt of Tammany Hall can leave readers with mixed feelings about politics from Plunkitt s perspective. Plunkitt, himself, used some questionable tactics while he was a politician and defends what he did; such as the difference between honest graft and dishonest graft. Plunkitt lived in the world of politics for forty plus years and thrived in the middle of it all with his political machine, Tammany Hall. The views Plunkitt held differ from those of the Founding Fathers of the United States of America. Politics was a word that was used flippantly in Plunkitt s vocabulary. To him, being a politician and living in the world of election and re election was all a game. He used his status as a politician to gain power, money, and influence on the people surrounding him. An example of Plunkitt using his status to gain money can be found in the first chapter of the book. I see my opportunity and I take it. I go to that place and I buy up all the land I can in the neighborhood. Then the board of this or that makes its plan public, and there is a rush to get my land, which nobody cared particular for before. Ain t it perfectly honest to charge a good price and make a... Plunkitt seems to have a utopia planned for the entire City of New York; for it to become an oligarchy under the careful watch and guidance of the political machine, Tammany Hall. Plunkitt describes how no one, but the Tammany Hall leaders, would have to worry about anything if New York became its own state. Plunkitt even references President Abraham Lincoln, saying the government of Tammany Hall is one that Lincoln would have blessed. Plunkitt continues to talk about how he would do everyone a favor by helping them until he believes they can stand on their own two feet. To show what he means, he uses the analogy of how the federal government is looking after and helping the
  • 3. Do Disney s Animated Movies Offer A Reflection Into The... Final Research Question: Do Disney s animated movies offer a reflection into the development and strengthening of Human Rights throughout the 20th Century? Provisional answer to question: Human Rights can be defined simply as being fundamental rights which all human beings are inherently entitled to regardless of their nation, location, language, religion, ethnic origin or any other status. Although today basic Human Rights are mostly internationally recognized, this was not always the case. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights was only formally adopted in 1948 by the United Nations General Assembly after the destruction of World War 2. Disney was founded in 1923 and since then has been active in releasing animated movies throughout the years. Always being conscious of its younger audience, Disney accepted less graphic versions of fairytales told in hundreds of different formats from as early as Ancient Greece and China. An example of this is the story of Cinderella which was first noted by Greek Historian Strabo. Beautiful Sleeping Beauty in the first known story told in the 12th Century as a Norse Saga was not awoken by a sweet kiss from a Prince but alas was awoken by having her arm cut off. When this story was later adapted in 1528 through a French Romance story called Peace forest and again retold in 1636 where poor Sleeping Beauty was awoken by a married Prince who then raped her. In my opinion the fact that Disney acknowledged and accepted the less vicious

  • 6. Commedia Dell Arte Commedia dell arte literally means comedy of the actors. One side was comedic theatre that included improvisation, the other was plays that were based on written texts. The art form came into being around 1550 and reached its height of success in Italy around 1650. During this time, the great stars of Italian comedyperformed, including Flaminio Scala, Francesco Andreini and his wife Isabella. The deaths of those performers and an economic decline in Italy made the drop in the popularity of the commedia dell arte, which continued to be an important form of theatre until 1780. It can be used effectively in drama today to form characters, add humour or base storylines off of. Commedia is made up of several, stock characters, all with short, simple storylines of their own. Each stock character of the commedia evolved a distinct set of attributes, speech, gestures, props, and costume that became standard to the portrayal of the character. Exaggerated gestures and odd speech/accents were used to convey emotion and intention. The distinctive costumes held particular appeal for modellers of small sculpture such as Franz Anton Bustelli, who made porcelain figures of commedia characters. • 8. Why Did Lincoln s Assassination Weaken The North Abraham Lincoln was assassinated by a .44 Derringer that is stored in the Ford s Theatre National Historic Site. The assassination of Abraham Lincoln was a small part in the larger plan to weaken the Union so that the Confederacy may have a last hurrah. The assassination of Abraham Lincoln was an extremely destructive and led to the North to have a deep hatred towards the South. The assassinationattempt on Lincoln, the Vice President, and his Secretary of State was deeply destructive to the Union. Lewis Powell was the assassin that was hired to kill the Secretary of State, William Seward. He entered the Seward home and injured him and his son as well as a bodyguard. He was later captured and hung in July 1865. A lesser known conspirator was Mary Surratt. She owned a boarding house in Washington were the conspirators met and planned the assassinations. She was hung and was the first woman executed in U.S. history. In my opinion, I believe that the punishments that the conspirators received was just and fair. The punishment was execution by hanging, The hanging was just for what they did to the U.S. and what they attempted. They were treated as traitors and terrorists, which they deserved. I believe that terrorists should be put in jail if they are domestic. If they are foreign we should use the rules that are set by their country of origin. In conclusion, the assassination of Abraham Lincoln was a small part in the larger plan to weaken the Union so that the Confederacy may have a last hurrah. • 9. Analysis Of The Storm By Kate Chopin In the short story The Storm , written by Kate Chopin she creates an amazing setting with a perfect environment for an adulterous affair to take place. Chopin not only creates this horrible, nasty storm as perfect coincidence to push Alce into the house of Calixta, but the storm also serves as a symbol of the affair between the two once lovers. The story takes place in the far south and portrays an act of adultery between the main characters Calixta, and Alce both married with children. It all starts with a horrible rain storm and the house of Calixta and Bobinot. The presence of the storm is not at all that much of a coincidence for as you get to reading you began to realize it is the main force behind the affair. As you can concluded from the story when she states, He expressed an intention to remain outside, but it was soon apparent that he might as well have been out in the open: (2 Chopin). Due to how strong and chaotic the storm had gotten, Chopin expresses that even though Alce took cover on and under Calixta s porch to escape the rain, it was just like standing out in the open. The water beat in upon the boards in driving sheets, and he went inside, closing the door after him (2 Chopin). So even in the beginning we see that Chopin intends to use the ferocious storm to move the story along driving the two characters to now take shelter together in the house of Calixta and Bobinot. The story begins with Calixta s husband, Bobinot, and son, Bini, inside a local store. They both are on their way out when they notice the storm moving in quickly, and they make the conscious decision to wait it out, so they both reside in the store. Kate Chopin even goes as far as to write with a touch of irony when she has the husband and son worry about Calixta s safety. As seen here, Mama ll be fraid, yes, he suggested with blinking eyes (1). Here you see Bini is asking his father if he thinks Calixta will be afraid of the fast approaching storm, insinuating that they believe she is all alone in the house when the storm hits, just like the way they had left her. Because both are completely unaware of the events about to unfold in the foreseen future. Meanwhile Calixtra is at home feeling no uneasiness for

This means that the price strategy of BMW M5 has depended on the market environment. The changing in price will of course affect the demand of BMW M5, which is based on supply demand theory and its large potential customer base. Because of inconformity in target customers and price strategy, reducing price may increase demand of M5, but it will not be a big change for M5 because it already has a large loyalty customer base. Curleys Wife Analysis Curly s Wife Curlys Wife is a very powerful and yet powerless character within the novel Of Mice and Men as Steinbeck uses her to reflect the prejudice against women in the 1930s since they had very little rights. Low And Decreasing Self Esteem During Adolescence Low and Decreasing Self Esteem During Adolescence Critique Steiger, Allemand, Robins, and Fend (2014) hypothesized that not only the level but also the change in self esteem affect depression. Using data from over a 23 year span, they investigated adolescent level and change in self esteem and examined their predictive effects on adult depressive symptoms two decades later. Self esteem was assessed annually from age 12 to 16, and depression was assessed at age 16 and 35. Further still, depression at age 16 was measured using 13 items from the original Beck Depression Inventory, while depression from age 12 15 was not measured (Steiger et al., 2014). Subsequently, participants were asked how often they had experienced depressive symptoms during the preceding week. The participants were informed to indicate which sentence out of four possible answers reflected their feeling most accurately. In adulthood, seven items from the Beck Depression Inventory were used to measure depressive symptoms. The Participants were asked how often they typically experience depressive symptoms. Participants rated each item on a 6 point scale. Consequently, Steiger et al. (2014) controlled for three variables when examining the effects of self esteem on depression. First, they controlled for peer popularity when examining the effect of global self esteem. Peer popularity was rated through peers of the same school and

It can be 1 D, 2 D and etc. It divides an image into four sub bands, namely пѓ LL (Low resolution image) пѓ HL (Horizontal) пѓ LH (vertical) пѓ HH (diagonal) This division can be performed up to many levels. It captures not only notion of frequency content but also temporal content. Wavelets provide a mathematical way of encoding information in such a way that it is layered according to level of detail. DWT is more computationally efficient than other transformations because of its excellent localization properties. Wavelets are capable of complete lossless reconstruction of image[6]. Image compression Image compression may be lossy or lossless. Lossless compression is preferred for archival purposes and often for medical imaging, technical drawings, clip art, or comics. Lossy compression methods, especially when used at low bit rates, introduce compression artifacts. Lossy methods are especially suitable for natural images such as photographs in applications. Salt and pepper noise can be used to model defects in the transmission of the image that a pixel is corrupted. Additive

  • 18. Essay on Biomechanics of Running Introduction: A Qualitative Analysis of Running In the 1970 s, thousands of people took to the road with a new trend of exercise running. It was fairly easy; just put one foot in front of the other as fast as you can and go as far as you can. Feel the burn in your chest? The sweat trickling down your face? The throb in your knees as your foot pounds into the ground with every step? Well then, you re exercising! You re running! Since then, running has become a dominant factor in sports and fitness; a factor so prevalent that the number of musculoskeletal injuries due to running has also increased over the last quarter century. These chronic injuries are usually due to overuse, improper training techniques, or a combination of the two. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... High correlations were found between the muscle forces and the VOI time curves for the monoarticular hip, knee and ankle extensor muscles. However, the correlations for the biarticular muscles were low. The results from the model concluded that the active state of the gastrocnemius was high during the stretch phase; the active state of the soleus started out low during the stretch phase, but reached a higher plateau as the stretch phase ended and the shortening phase began. Therefore, the difference in stimulation is a compromise between minimizing energy dissipation and optimal use of the stretch shortening cycle. Nig, DeBoer, and Fisher (1995) did a comparison of treadmill and overground running. Twenty two subjectsran on four different surfaces: overground and three treadmills, each varying in size and power. Each subject was filmed in the sagittal and frontal (posterior) plane. Body landmarks were placed on the superior border of the greater trochanter, the lateral femoral epicondyle, the lateral malleolus, and the head of the fifth metatarsal of the right leg. Subjects ran at four different speeds varying from 3.0 6.0 m/s. It was concluded that the subjects systematically planted their feet in a flatter position on the treadmill than overground. Therefore, using a treadmill for running assessment can lead to inadequate conclusions about overground running.

Five things put pressure on Nepali leaders to deliver the constitution this time around. First, the Nepali Congress Party and the Communist Party of Nepal (UML), which preferred a few multi ethnic states, secured nearly two thirds majority in the assembly and formed a coalition government with smaller parties, enhacing their strength further. Thus they had the number and confidence to sail the charter to the finish line. Second, bothPrime Minister Sushil Koirala and UML leader KP Oli were personally men in a hurry. The ailing Koirala wanted to promulgate the statute on his watch. The ailing Oli wanted to become premier before his health marred his ambition. • 21. Nanotechnology And The Energy Crisis Nanotechnology and the Energy Crisis A major problem facing the world today is the energy crisis. The amount of energy being consumed is much greater than the fossil fuels of the Earth will be able to keep up with in the long run. As energy use continues to grow, the demand for energy will exceed its supply. This is obviously a huge problem, and why this is being referred to as a crisis. However, nanotechnology can potentially solve this problem due to its ability to help make every aspect of producing or consuming energy significantly more efficient. Yet, the use of nanotechnology in solving the energy crisis would not come without large impacts: some positive, but some negative. The Energy Crisis To understand how nanotechnology can solve the energy crisis, the energy crisis itself must fully be understood. While many throw out years when the world will run out of energy, these figures assume that no change will occur in the current consumption of energy. Since the world is constantly changing, so will the energy industry. There are so many factors that go into why one day the world will not run out of energy. The biggest reason is economics. As supply of fossil fuels decreases, the price will rise, and demand for renewable resources will increase. Another reason is that scientists, especially as it becomes more economically efficient, will look to find other sources of energy (Bradley, 2004). Yet, there is still a problem. No matter how many fossil fuels people

Often times they are isolated, ignored, and deprived from social contact and stimulation. Studies have found that individuals in poor health are more likely to be abused than individuals who are in relatively good health. In addition, caregivers who are dependent on the elder financially are also more likely to perpetrate abuse (De Benedictis, 2011). A simple request for such things as water or an escort to the bathroom may cause the care giver to respond in a rude and offensive way demonstrating inappropriate behavior. The strong ties that exist between Australia and Thailand have been further strengthened in recent years through a series of free trade initiatives, reduced or eliminated tariffs and, prior to 2003, through the provision of Australian economic development advisors to Thailand. Despite the positive trends in commerce, Thailand has been rocked by political turmoil from time to time over the years, and student uprisings in Bangkok in particular have threatened the political stability of the country s ruling parties in ways that had short term implications for Australians doing business in Thailand. The Importance Of Teaching English As A Foreign Language Introduction In order to effectively teach English as a foreign language it is essential to understand not only the learners current ability level but also their desires and goals in learning a language. By combing these two aspects, an efficient and practical lesson plan can be designed. In this case the student is already highly proficient even fluent at times in English, and was determined to be around MM2D level (ITTO 388). Because he studies international business, he is learning English primarily as a potential occupational skill. Furthermore, because he is already proficient at casual speech and understanding, it makes most sense to focus on areas he has less experience with, in this case formal writing and occupational vocabulary as these skills will likely be essential for his future employment. Classroom Approach: Given that the learner in this case is already a high level English speaker, the class will automatically be at least party derived from the Direct Method. Masaccio s Achieves a Grand Illusion of Depth By Using Perspective The introduction of perspective to the world of art has significantly changed the way art is created. Painting s like Masaccio s The Holy Trinity and The Virgin have played a pivotal role in the history of art as both a definitive example of Early Renaissance linear perspective and as a kind of prophetic forerunner of the prospective method discussed nearly a century later by Leon Battista Alberti (Aiken 171). According to Jane Andrew Aiken, Perspective hadn t really been used much when the time The Holy Trinityand The Virgin had been revealed to the world. The painting had definitely received a notice by many connoisseurs of art for its different painting style and focus of topic. Religion was an obvious main focus during the time Masaccio had done this piece and the fact that he had drawn about the crucifixion of JesusChrist had caught many people s eyes. The use of perspective in Masaccio s The Holy Trinity and The Virgin causes the depiction of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ to be the main focus in the artwork and give a sense of depth to the painting to the viewers despite their point of view. Robert commits infamous acts of evil, believing that these murderous actions glorify God by annihilating sinners not chosen to be saved. However, I feel that he subconsciously desires to be a ?champion? over his own fear of damnation and through believing that murdering the damned is God?s calling for his life, this allows the means to defeat his fear. Another mental illness that is shown in Robert Wringhim?s life is Multiple Personality Disorder. Psychologists are still trying to understand what causes MPD. There is much debate whether this mental condition is caused through nature or through nurture: I believe, like many psychologists, that it?s a combination of both. In this belief, MPD victims recall one specific event that?s so traumatic that their mind escapes insanity by blocking out the event and taking on a new identity (or identities). It?s a form of the mind?s self defense which allows a victim to go on living their life without reflecting on harrowing experiences that would result in madness for the victim. The reason why this disorder is believed to also be caused by nature is because it helps explain why people who suffer the same or similar traumatic experiences as MPD victims, never obtain MPD. On page 170, Robert becomes aware that he looses all track of time. This is very common for MPD victims. The minds will check in and out of time whenever it feels a need for safety; the mind still functions, it just takes on the form of a new personality. Moreover, a MPD victim

For example, once the trees are cut down it firstly causes many species of life to lose their habitats, without the covering canopy of trees it also exposes the soil. The idea of nature being a spiritual experience is a rebellious idea compared to the rationalism of many others during the same time period. The transcendentalist writer of the late 1700 s, author Henry David Thoreau, shares the same thoughts about nature, independence, and recreation as I do. At the onset of the 20th century however this message began to take particular weight, as evidenced by the tripling of the AFL s membership and the rise of the Industrial Workers of the World. Labor unions, the Socialist Party and progressives as a whole took issue with the doctrine of Social Darwinism and moved forward as a somewhat united front with the goal of bringing meaningful change to American society. As America made the transition into an industrial power in the latter half of the 19th century, Social Darwinism became a prevalent method of rationalizing massive inequality and widespread poverty. This doctrine of leaving the poorest in the nation to uplift themselves from abject hardship without being provided any means to do so was exemplified as the American population became increasingly concentrated in cities. Poor families would often go without electricity or indoor toilets. Staggering inequality continued into the Progressive era. It was estimated that J.P. Thus, a fracture hematoma is formed, stopping the flow of blood into the fracture site which, in turn, cause swelling. The research collected will determine the safest and most practical technique, comparing the advantages and disadvantages of the two. Discussion Spinal Immobilisation involves the use of a number of devices to stabilize the spine after injury, which will consequently prevent further damage to the spine, spinal cord, surrounding tissue and vital organs. Spinal motion restriction on the other hand, can be described as being the preferred practice amongst emergency medical practitioners. Spinal motion restriction aims to maintain the spine in anatomic alignment and reduce the amount of movement as much as possible. (Physicians, 2015) Spinal immobilisation is considered for utilization for two specific patient groups: (1) unconscious injury victims and (2) any patient with a motion injury. These two specific groups lead to the perception that these patients have a possible spinal injury and immobilisation is required. (M.J.Sanders, 2010) Applying clear, clinical guidelines for evaluating a possible spinal injury in a patient can support the accuracy of pre hospital assessment. The following signs and symptoms may assist in the decision of full spinal immobilisation: Altered level of consciousness

National security requirements exercised the most significant influence on the development of airpower in Europe and the United States before the Second World War (WWII). Nations on both sides of the ocean had experienced the multifaceted disastrous results of World War I (WWI) and airpower seemed to be the answer for future wars. Understanding the context and consequences of WWI is vital to comprehend airpower theorists like Douhet, Mitchell and Trenchard and their revolutionary thoughts on airpower. The development of aircraft at the beginning of the twentieth century challenged not only military leadership but also, more important, the national security of modern states. The basic question was: How will strategic bombing of enemy territory fit in to national security and military strategy? This paper will narrow the view on Europe by selecting Great Britain as one of the most relevant nations in WWII concerning strategic bombing. WWI was the first total war in the industrial age with unprecedented casualties on all sides of the belligerent nations. In spite of gigantic troop numbers, both sides expected a quick war with a decisive victory. However, in 1915, the maneuvering part of the war was over and resulted ultimately in bloody trench warfare. Furthermore, as the war continued, attrition of the adversary became the main goal as the battle at Verdun highlighted. Consequently, aircraft offered an alternative to the static warfare of the trenches. These newly
