Jeff Gordon Research Paper
Jeff Gordon Past Present and Future
As said by Jeff Gordon You are going to make choices and decisions that sometimes aren t going
to always work in your favor and they are going to upset some other people. Jeff Gordon has went
from driving sprint cars in the dirt, to driving in the Nascar sprint cup series, avid supporter of
charities and multi millionaire
Jeff s love for racing started when he was five years old. This is where his father made a
racetrack out of the old fairgrounds in Vallejo CA from there Gordon started his love for racing. It
wasn t till he was six years old that he started winning races. By the end of the season, he won thirty
five main events and broke many records. When Jeff was thirteen, he started getting interested ...

Causes Of The Second Triumvirate
The Second Triumvirate existed from 43 B.C. to 33 B.C. The Second Triumvirate lasted for only
ten years. The Second Triumvirate years were filled with a variety of battles between the three
men. Rome will fall with the new Triumvirate because the people have been deceived and have
faced many troubles, the Triumviratehas tasted power and are greedy for more, and the three men in
the Triumvirate mistrust and dislike each other. The Triumvirate stealing from the public s fortune
shows their lack of morals and concern for Rome. Before the war against the conspirators started,
Mark Antonycommanded Lepidus to fetch the will (4.1.11) in order to see how they would cut
some charge in legacies (4.1.12). Some may say Antony took the money to help protect the
people of Rome. However, Mark Antony used the poor, naive, confused public to ensure he got
revenge on Brutus and the conspirators. Antony sparked the fire to start this war in order to get
revenge and will use the people s money to get revenge, not to protect. In addition, the
Triumvirate has no respect for human life. Their lack of sympathy towards the deaths of soldiers
and civilians showed their inconsideration for them. They simply said that they shall not live
(4.1.9) and that they are damn[ed] (4.1.9). Others may say that they didn t hold significant
consideration towards their death because it is normal for people to die in a war. Yet, the war was
initiated by Mark Antony and his thirst for revenge. He is the

Social And Biological Characteristics Of Femininity In...
Femininity is comprised of both the social and biological factors that make a person feminine or
womanly. The ideal feminine varies by society, culture and even era. According to _____,
femininity or masculinity is based on what society considers to be valuable. In Marie de France s
Lanval femininity in its most ideal form, is based on exterior qualities such as a beautiful face and
thin body as well as a womans willingness to give her body and love to a man to use at his
disposal. These two qualities are exhibited by the woman in poem, making her valuable and
desired by society, but specifically Lanval who falls in love with her. This type of femininityis
shallow and materialistic, forgetting to acknowledge what is on the inside, varying much from the
characteristics that femininity would be composed of in today s society.
Topic sentence to lead into this paragraph about the theory. When Lanval first sees the woman,
he is immediately drawn to her beauty. The lily and the young rose/ when they appear in the
summer/ are surpassed by her beauty (94 96). Lanval knows nothing about this woman, except
that she is worthy of his love and her beauty that lies in front of him. She is a beautiful woman
with a body well shaped and elegant (100). The woman s identity has yet been revealed to
Lanval, yet he is already in love with her: He looked at her and saw that she was beautiful/ love
stung him with a spark/ that burned and set fire to his heart (117 119). For the

Marie Curie s Popular Images
Although Marie Curie was not the first woman to excel in science or mathematics, she can be
considered the first major woman scientist to receive full credit for her scientific work.
Considering her Nobel prizes alone, she is ranked at the top of the scientists of the modern period.
Despite this, somehow Marie Curies popular images, as well as those embedded in some of the
scholarly literature, suggest important, but rather modest contributions to society (Pycior, 301).
Marie Curiewas born Maria Salomea Sklodowska on November 7, 1867, in Poland into a family
that was liberal minded and committed to learning. Both her parents worked in a school setting,
until her farther was forced to resign for political reasons when Marie was young, and her father
converted the family s home into a boarding school. The school Marie attended was important for
young Marie, because the education of women was prohibited under the oppressive Russian
occupation. Her sister and mother died when she was in her adolescence, but all of her other
family members stayed deeply committed to education, and the exceptionally gifted Marie
graduate from high school for girls who had the highest honors only to encounter a nearly
insurmountable obstacle: In Poland, advanced studies were not available for women. Although a
school in France called Sorbonne, accepted women to study at the school. Marie Curie struggled
with preparation in her classes and it was difficult for her because she didn t know French

Elizabeth Freeman Essay
From the early 1740s to 1829, an African American woman lived and unexpectedly became an
important woman in history. Even though most people never heard of her, what she did change
how people look at other African Americans. She was born in the early 1740s to African parents,
and she grew up as a slave with her sister Lizzie in Claverack, New York, which is about twenty
miles south of Albany. Their owner was Pieter Hogeboom, who was the head of a wealthy Dutch
American family. In 1735, Hogeboom s daughter Hannah married John Ashley, who was the son of
one of the original proprietors permitted by the General Court of Massachusettsto organize
settlements along the Housatonic River. When Hogeboom died in 1758, Lizzie and her were taken...

In one of the three town meetings in Berkshire County which John Ashley represented, Ashley
was denounced for being against the highly approved circular letter (Swan). Even though he was
denounced, in the next election, he was chosen again to represent the area. In early 1773, Bett
was serving refreshments to a dozen white men that had gathered at the Ashley s house to draw up
a petition to take into consideration the grievances which Americans in general and Inhabitants of
this Province in particular labor under (Swan). Ashley, who was chairman at this meeting, set up a
set of resolutions, which the first read Resolved, That mankind in a state of nature are equal, free,
and independent of each other, and have a right to the undisturbed enjoyment of their lives, their
liberty, and property (Rawls, pg. 188). This meeting was well noted by Bett. In 1780, George
Mason, who was the author of the Virgina bill of rights and a plantation owner of 118 slaves,
wrote: All men are by nature equally free and independent (Rawls, pg. 187). He was not thinking
about the slaves though. He was thinking about white Americans, that they are equal to the British
and should have the same rights as them. When other Virgina legislators saw this, they added
Slaves, not being constituent members of our society, could never pretend to any benefit from such
maxim (Rawls, pg. 187). A month later, the Declaration of Independence

Mycenaean Fortifications
Late Helladic fortification walls on the Greek mainland are found surrounding citadels, not the
entire city or site. The citadels seem to have housed central administration and housing for an elite
class of citizens. They were built on hills, presumably as another layer of fortification. I will
examine the sites of Gla, Midea, Tiryns, and Mycenaeto look for similarities and differences in the
design and architecture of their fortifications, as well as, arguments about the purpose of the
fortifications at these sites. I will also explore how some sites were hindered or helped defensively
and economically by their location and their use of fortifications.

The site of Midea is near Mycenae and Tiryns. Midea s fortification walls were observable by
19th century travelers (Iakovidis, 1983) and later excavations uncovered the gates from the
walls as well. Like other Late Helladic sites, the fortification walls were built on a natural hill. At
Midea this hill is surrounded by a plain and is significantly taller than the surrounding area at 171
meters and the slopes are hard to climb. This puts the citadel of the site in an easily defensible
position in case of any attack. The hill is so steep in areas that builders did not need to build
fortification walls on the east and south east sides.
The walls at Midea were built using Cyclopean masonry like other fortification walls found from
this time. The walls are also very thick, ranging from 5.50 7 meters in various areas (Iakovidis,
1983). Like other Mycenaean sites, there is also evidence of a palace area inside the fortification
walls. Terracing and other buildings have also been uncovered during excavations, in keeping with
the traditional role of the fortification walls being placed around an administrative or elite center.
Unlike some other Mycenaean sites, Midea s fortification walls entrance gates were relatively
simple and the walls were never expanded. Midea also has examples of L Shaped gates which are
rare on the Greek mainland. L Shaped gates had 90 degree turns, and while it was a defensive

Antisocial Personality Disorder In Gone Girl
Synopsis Gone Girl, published in 2012 by author Gillian Flynn, is a thriller in its own. Later, in
2014, a film adaptation was released, directed by David Fincher, bringing all the creativity left in
the novel to life. Nick Dunne, a writing teacher, comes home on the day of his fifth wedding
anniversary to find his wife, Amy Elliot Dunne, is nowhere to be found. After conferring with the
police, Amy is officially listed as a missing person. It is later decided that Amy had been
murdered due to the scene, though no body was found. Nick then becomes the prime suspect in
the investigation, and it becomes more and more believable as facts about their not so perfect
marriage begin to surface. As the film progresses, it is revealed that Amy had faked... Show more

They also tend to be impulsive and deceitful, as well as having a lack of remorse for their own
actions. The movie Gone Girl portrays Antisocial Personality Disorder very well, although Amy
was never actually diagnosed. Throughout the movie, Amy does many things that show a lack
of remorse, mainly when she tries to frame Nick for a murder that never happened. She went to
many extremes to set up a fake murder scene, including taking a lot of her own blood and then
pouring it on the floor of the kitchen. She then proceeded to throw a little on the wall above the
stove to make it look like a messy clean up job, the way someone like Nick would do. Amy even
went as far as to have written a minimum of 300 journal entries about Nick, how he was abusive,
and that she was scared he was going to kill her. She also befriended their one neighbor, Noelle,
and told her all about Nick s abuse so she would have someone to back up her story. Noelle was
also pregnant, so Amy broke her own toilet so she could steal the Noelle s pee and take it to the
doctor so it would become a medical fact that Amy was pregnant when Nick supposedly killed
her. This would give Nick a motive because one of the many things Amy had written about was
that Nick never wanted kids, even though the reality was that Nick did want kids, but Amy did
not. Throughout the movie, Amy is also very deceitful. She gets Noelle to actually believe her
lies, and also believe she genuinely wanted to be friends. Amy even went back to Desi, her
obsessive ex boyfriend that she claims even tried to kill himself because they broke up. She
tricked Desi into believing that her staging her own murder was somehow okay, and he also
believed that she genuinely missed

Original Sin In The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
Warren and Coleridge both have different understandings of what original sin is and how it is
portrayed in The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Original sin is defined as that sin and its guilt
that we all possess in God s eyes as a direct result of Adam s sin in the Garden of Eden. While
Coleridge sees all sin as equal, Warren believes that it is the severity of the sin that defines how
evil the act is. I believe that modern society would closely align with Coleridge s idea that it does
not matter what sin he actually committed, it s about the initial murderous thought he possessed.
Warren believes that although the mariner killed the albatross, it would have been much worse if it
was a human being, ignoring the fact that for original sinto be present in an act it must be present at
all times. Coleridge s idea is that the initial murderous thought that the mariner had to lead him to
kill is still a sin, meaning that there are not different levels of sin. The... Show more content on

Most Christians believe this concept too, and do not label people by their past actions and
downfalls. On the other hand, there will be people who stand with Warren and say that if you
believe that all sin is equal, would you punish a homeless man for stealing food to feed his family
the same way you would punish Hitler for killing 6 million Jews? However, most Christians just
believe that you have transgressed and will be held accountable. Religion does also play a large role
in how people view sin and how to repent for that sin. Christianity closely relates to Christianity,
while the Muslim religion is like Warren in the sense that you have to work for forgiveness.
Most people today though would closely align with Coleridge s idea of original sin. The idea of
equality for all is very present today and is displayed in media. Most people consider that although
people sin differently, it is all

The Migration Of South Australia And The Pacific Islands
Around 50,000 years ago, a limited group of humans migrated through to northern Australia and
the Pacific Islands by means of primitive boat. Scholars believe that it is highly likely theses trips
were planned, due to the fact that enough women and men to furnish a new population had
traveled collectively (Kamrani, Kambiz). Seeing as how the Pacific was the first ocean to be
explored in this time marks the ocean crossing coming out of Eurasia to Australia and the Pacific
Islands one of humanity s earliest great achievements. Although as to where the migrants began
their journey before the travel to the islands is arguable at best, there exist numerous migration
routes stemming from Africa to Southeast Asia and onward. Still, it became a tremendous
accomplishment for mankind, though the justifying means as to how, why and when the journey
was made are still a debated topic among scholars. The migration of early humans to Australia
and New Guinea from Southeast Asia is known as the Southern wave. The actual timing of it is
hard to ascertain as it appears after the end of the last Ice Age (12,000 years ago), the glaciers that
melted had drowned large stretches of coastline covering any possible evidence for newage
scientists and making it certain that the humans had to endure a fifty mile voyage at sea to reach
land in Australia. Using sea crafts strong enough and advanced far beyond the technology norm at
the time, in order to survive such a journey, settlements of these early

computers, they released their first ever video game console known as the Xbox in late 2001. The
Xbox had newer, upgraded versions of the console later on such as the Xbox 360in 2005 and the
XboxOne in 2013. The idea of the Xbox first started when Kevin Bachus, Seamus Blackley, Otto

videogame developers to embrace their Windows operating system. These men approached Bill...

as possible, huge, technical problems with the console caused Microsoft to replace or repair

Premium, Elite, and Arcade (Loguidice). There are two current Xbox 360 S (slim) models which
are the Xbox 360 250GB and the Xbox 360 4GB. These models are similar because they both
include 5 USB (universal serial bus) 2.0. ports and a custom port for the Kinect sensor. They also
have optical digital audio with built in WiFi (Loguidice). They also are sleeker, smaller, and run
quieter and cooler than their predecessors ( Loguidice). The Xbox 360 4GB and the Xbox 360

enough for playing physical copies of games, but not for downloaded games. A hard drive can be
purchased to get more space though. This model also costs $100 less than the Xbox 360 250GB.

Explain The Differences Between The Hayward Gallery
Explain the differences between the Hayward gallery (1968) and its South Bank neighbour, the
Royal Festival Hall (1951) in terms of their planning and finishing and in the different ways they
relate to their urban context.
While there are many similarities between the Hayward Gallery
and Royal Festival Hall, there also are a number of differences in terms of planning and finishing
in relation to urban context. Higgs and Hill built the Hayward Gallery, which opened on The 9th
of July. It is an art gallery located in the Southbank Centre, which is a key arts venue in Central
London. Until early 2011 the gallery was simply known as the Hayward. The Royal Festival
Hall is situated adjacent to the Hayward Gallery. It is a famous dance, concert and talks venue
with a capacity of 2500. It was the first the post war building to listed as a Grade 1 building. The
Hall officially opened on 3rd May 1951 and was built as part of the Festival of Britain for the
London County Council. Planning plays an integral role in the procedure to achieve any given

psychological manipulation that they have done to them. The Party has basically turned the
people in Oceania into robots that aren t allowed to think for themselves and do the things that
they feel is right because the Party has manipulated them into thinking a certain way. One way
that the Party psychologically manipulates the people is by overworking them, because when
people are overworked they are not able to think as well as they would when they were rested so
it is easier to manipulate them at their stage of weakness. For example this happened during Hate

The difference between Julia and Winston in terms of their resistance is that Julia is more
educated about the rebellion and that she has more experience with it. Julia is frustrated with
the Party and she wants to do something about it but she first learns all that she can about the
Party to learn how to defeat it, Winston on the other hand is just frustrated and wants to destroy
the Party he does not really think about the details that are involved. Winston is also very
unhappy and angry in the novel but he is not able to pinpoint why he is very unhappy and angry,
he knows that he is because of the Party but he does not know what aspects f the Party are
making him feel this way. On the other hand Julia knows what is wrong with the Party and she
actually analyzes why the Party does the things that it does and how the Party is helping itself
out by doing these things. For example, in the novel Julia is able to think about things like why
the Party took away love and passion and her reasoning is that maybe when they take away love
and passion they can channel that into a massive love for the Party. Julia is also very skilled at
be undercover, she knows how to work the system and not get caught, but Winston does not
understand this. Winston is not as sneaky as Julia and wants to involve other people in his
rebellion before he knows that he can trust them whereas Julia takes time so she knows that it s
safe. Even though their two paths of resistance are different when they are paired together they
make a pretty strong team. Because Julia is so knowledgeable she is able to help Winston with his
rebellious ideas so that he will not get caught and Winston is able to help Julia be more rebellious
in different ways with his young mind of resistance. From this you would think that this team would
be invincible but they are not because they both end up getting caught because they were not sneaky

Comparing Gender And The Media
3.2 Gender and the Media.
3.2.1 The portrayal of men in films
There are a variety of men portrayed in modern films: ranging from the most common manly man
to the goofball to the slowly emerging more sensitive man: one who is more comfortable with
stereotypically female emotions such as sadness. Men in films such as The Hangover fall into the
lad category, characterized by their immaturity, and adolescent behavior (Moore 1998:209). Men
are also portrayed as the warrior , or hero in films such as Saving Private Ryan , or San Andreas
respectively. Both films demonstrate male actors in traditionally male roles, saving the day, often
rescuing women (more so in the latter than the former). Men are also portrayed as players or ...

MPDGs are said to help their men without pursuing their own happiness, and such characters never
grow up; thus, their men never grow up. (Wikipedia) This trope is particularly disliked amongst
feminists due to the portrayal of women as not only objects for the male to obtain, but also because
of the negative light it shines on women.
3.2.3 The narcissistic man
The narcissist is characterised by status all the right labels, the best grooming, and the perfect
wife (Fourie 2008:313). Many men in media are portrayed in this light, such as Don Draper from
Mad Men who only wore the most expensive suits both as a status symbol, and as a means of
intimidating and impressing those in his field. The narcissist is also used often in adverts, such as
George Clooney posing for Nespresso these ads appeal to the narcissist who will view a Nespresso
machine not only as a status symbol, but to make themselves appear more attractive through the
acquisition of the machine.

Relationship Between Brand And Brand Engagement
Based on previous research studies, the aim of this paper was to examine the relationship between
characteristics of brand posts on the intention of users to engage with the brand in Twitter, to
explore in depth dimensions of online brand engagement, which include cognition, affect, and
behavior and the effect of this online brandengagement on brand loyalty and e word of mouth. .
Furthermore, this study tried to test the proposed conceptual model of online brand engagement
that supported engagement between the antecedents and behavior related outcomes associated with
following brands on Twitter. Specifically, the study examined whether perceived Twitter brand
account features (information quality, entertainment, vividness and interactivity) predicted the
three aspects of online brand engagement (cognitive, affective and behavioral), and further
investigated whether online engagement with brands on Twitter could lead to behavior related
outcomes such as brand loyalty and e word of mouth.
This examination occurred by administering a survey in order to test and give a clear answer to the
research questions and the proposed research model that was formulated and presented in details in
the introduction part.
As this paper contributes to the field of brand engagement by presenting a conceptual model of
brand engagement on online social media platforms specifically in Twitter and confirming it
through empirical analysis, the findings of the study could present important

The Dangerous Effects of Chemical Warfare in World War One
Upon the battlefield of World War One, soldiers huddle in trenches, faces veiled behind gas
masks. These bulky facial coverings were designed to protect the soldiers from deadly gases used
by the enemy. The use of chemical agents in World War One led to the need for the production of
better protection from the deadly effects of the agents. Chlorinegas could be dropped from
cylinders above the victims, its high density causing it to flow downwards onto its unsuspecting
foe (Fire 121). Also, the British Authorities struggled to decide whether or not to approve the use
of gas for offensive use, and whether a large scale chemical war was something to be avoided at
all costs (Girard 107). The gas masks worn by soldiers increased their discomfort and made it
hard to move around, instilling a sense of panic in them when a gas raid was underway (Fire
121). The French were the first to fire asphyxiating gas shells from field guns and pioneered the
use of gas as a neutralization weapon (Krause 553). The psychological damage of gas attacks on
soldiers was mainly because of the horror of seeing their unprepared comrades suffocating and
screaming in agony from burns inflicted by mustard gas (Fitzgerald 611). Animals were used in
the World War, horses for transport, pigeons for contact, and dogs for protection and defense
(Walk). Obviously, there would have to be modified gas masks for the animals on the battle field
(Walk.) The panic of the early days of gas research led to

The factory would be constructed in two years post which it will start production. Foxtrot takes
a loan to part fund the factory construction cost for 100 cr at 10% interest with interest payable
yearly in cash. At the end of the first year, the company pays Rs 10 cr as interest to the bank. At
this stage, from an accounting perspective, Foxtrot has to make a choice. It can either show the
interest paid as an expense in the Income Statement for year 1, or it can add the interest paid to
the book value of the factory. In the latter case, the book value of Foxtrot will be increased to Rs
110 cr that will now include Rs 10 cr as interest that the company paid to the bankers? Which of the
two do you think is more consistent with the principles of accounting?

dentistry, since it represents the way the teeth come together, and functions together. The treatment
for an edentulous patient is the construction of a complete denture. In order to be able to fabricate a

Creatine and its Dangers Essay
Creatine and its Dangers
Creatine is a very controversial supplement on the market today. Many endorse the uses of creatine,
but others are skeptical about the advantage a person receives from taking it and the dangers one
inherits as a result of creatine consumption. The debate remains due to the short amount of time that
creatine has been available. People base their opinions on preliminary studies that have been done
but no one knows the long term effects of creatine on the body. Many take the risk without vast
knowledge, but others still remain skeptical based on preliminary evidence that discourages the
intake of creatine.

Creatine allows for increased storage of ATP. The transfer of a molecule of phosphorous from
creatine phosphate to adenosine diphosphate(ADP) results in the formation of ATP. ...since the
muscle creatine phosphate concentrations can fall to almost zero, it(creatine consumption) can
make a significant contribution to the energy supply needed for brief bursts of very high intensity
exercise, says Dr. Bolotte. The equation for the synthesis of ATP from creatine phosphate and ADP
is as follows: PCr + ADP forms ATP + Cr. (http://www.lsms.org/journal/98creat.html) Also, lactic
acid levels, which cause muscles to burn during workouts, are lowered by the consumption of
creatine. Without the burning sensation, athletes don t feel the need to stop exercising. Athletes
begin their creatine process with a loading phase of twenty grams per day for five days. Then, they
consume three to five grams per day. (http://www.mothernature.com/ency/supp

The Theory Behind Creatine
The supplement creatine is used for faster recovery for muscles after short periods of exercise.
The theory is an athlete on creatine can exhibit more explosive bursts of energy allowing for
longer weight workouts, more sprints, etc. Increased muscle mass and bulk are two of the ideas
behind creatine, but they only occur as long as people work out while taking the substance. It doesn

Racial And Ethnic Identity Development
The racial and ethnic identity individuals identify with can be a crucial aspect of the basis of their
individual and collective identity (ChГЎvez Guido DiBrito, 1999). Racial and ethnic identities are
also both comprised of a sense of belongingness to a group, the learning process of being informed
about one s group, in addition to being associated with cultural behaviors and values, with attitudes
towards one s own group, and reactions to discriminate (Phinney Ong, 2007). In the United States,
the way in which some individuals are visibly and legally defined, places them into minority
populations that can alter the way they identify with their racial and ethnic status, conflicting social
influences, and cultural influences (Phinney Ong,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The first stage describes unexamined ethnic identity and states that individuals fall into one of two
categories based on their knowledge or influences of ethnicity. The two categories include, the
diffusion category, when the individual has not previously encountered ethnicity as an issue or
topic, and the foreclosure category, when individuals have collected information about ethnicity
from their family and peers, also succumbing to such information without actually interacting with
individuals of that ethnic population, (Phinney, 1993). For many individuals in this stage, ethnicity
is not typically viewed as an issue, which in turn, leads to diffusion or foreclosure, while other
individuals may impart strong ethnic views and seem to jump ahead to stage three. The second
stage of Phinney s model has to do with the search or moratorium of individuals ethnic identity that
describes when an individual encounters can alter how people view and become aware of their own
ethnicity (1993). Phinney (1993), suggests that individuals may remain in this stage for a long
period of time and may even experience rather intense emotions. Lastly, the third stage discusses
ethnic identity achievement when individuals resolve their ethnic identity conflicts (Phinney,
1993). During this stage, individuals are informed about their own ethnicity, but are aware and
appreciative of all ethnicities and suggests a positive, bicultural identity (Phinney, 1993). While this
model may help to explain how individuals ethnic identity could influence the course of an
individual s life and the choices they make entering adulthood, it is important to note that Phinney s
model of ethnic identity development used research from minority adolescents, therefore the
applicability of this model should be drawn into question when applying it to emerging adulthood

A Summary Of The Human Female Reproductive Structure
Chapter 47
1.Part 1) Describe either human male or the human female reproductive structures and their
functions.
Part 2) Define the hormones involved and the events that take place during the human female
menstrual cycle.
The human female reproductive systems function is for human reproduction which is made up of
internal and external sex organs. The human female reproductive system includes the breasts, vagina
, vulva, fallopian tubes, ovaries, uterus, and mammary glands. Each of these organs play a unique
part in the production and transportation of gametes and the production of the sex hormones. The
process that the human female reproductive system undergoes to carry out the role in the process
of pregnancy and birth is sexual maturation. Let s start with the ovaries. The ovaries are a pair of
small glands the size and shape of grapes that are located on the left and right sides of the pelvic
body cavity lateral to the superior potion of the uterus (The ovaries are highlighted in the image
above). The ovaries have three main functions. The first function is that they shelter and protect the
eggs until they are ready for use. Second, the ovaries produce female sex hormones called estrogen
and progesterone. It also produces lesser hormones called Relaxin and Inhibin. There are three
different types of estrogen. They are called estrone, estriol, and estradiol. Estrogen are hormones
that are important for sexual reproductive development. It controls the development of

No, the COO is not due a bonus. The reason the profits seem higher under absorption costing is
that there are substantial fixed costs of the period that were capitalized because production was so
much higher than sales. The fixed costs is trapped on the balance sheet and will be expensed when
the items are sold. See reconciliation in Excel for a visual on this.
4. Identify and explain any important ethical issues you see in this case.
In determining the fixed costs per unit for the period for absorption costing (not needed for
variable costing since the entire fixed cost is expensed as a cost of the month, not a cost of units),
you spread the fixed costs across all the units made. Since production was increased substantially,
the fixed cost per unit was reduced:
Fixed manufacturing cost per unit: at 140,000 units $ 13.71 at 175,000 units $ 10.97
This gives the illusion of lower cost of goods sold (and thus higher profits) but it is, in fact, just a
temporary capitalizing of the fixed manufacturing costs due to inventory build up.
While building inventories does trap fixed costs on the balance sheet, pressuring managers to
improve profits gives them an incentive to build inventories to spread the fixed costs thinner and
make COGS smaller per unit. This is not ethical. Building inventories in order to improve a profit
computation is not profession or ethical but the pressure to perform

The Role Of Suffering In The Little Mermaid
Hans Christian Andersen s story The Little Mermaid addresses many dark ideas that Disney s
film The Little Mermaid avoids. The avoidance of dark topics by Disney can be attributed to
Disney targeting a different audience as well as Disney wanting to keep a happily ever after on
the story of Ariel. The role of suffering in Andersen s stories is attributed to the desire of young

The Importance Of Community Service
The efficiency of service can be looked at form multiple angles. Does the motive behind service
less than its effectiveness? I will be exploring just that in this paper by evaluating the net benefit to
a community and its lasting impact on the individual performing mandatory versus voluntary
service. I was drawn to this topic after listening to Tovia Smith s podcast, Selfish Giving: Does It
Count If You Get In Return?. Smith interviews many professionals on their opinion on service done
for personal gain. In the article, Community Service, published by the Center for Justice and
Reconciliation, they define mandatory community Service as restorative justice for offenders. The
Center for Justice and Reconciliation leads a reader to believe that offenders doing community
service is no different than when a high schoolstudent does it for a college application. I believe that
the Center for Justice and Reconciliation is correct that offenders and high school students both
partake in mandatory community service but for different reasons. High school students use service
to get into college while offenders use service to make amends with the community they have
harmed. Both Smith and the Center for Justice and Reconciliation agree that service is good but
differ on what makes it efficient. While I agree with Smith s main argument surrounding service, I
believe that community service remains effective when you evaluate the motives, net benefit to
community, and a lasting impact

Since this commercial was only a minute long they were able to use the same song throughout
the commercial. They chose a song that represented the bond between the dog and his owner but
the lyrics would have also worked if it were two humans instead of a human and a dog. The
producers were probably very careful when selecting this music because they wanted it to
transition into everyday life and have not just be applicable with the relationship between the
dog and his owner. This is evident in one of the lyrics of this commercial, A lifetime is not long

Tocqueville thought that individualism could be associated with individual value, dignity, happiness,
interests and freedom. At the same time, he endowed it into relatively complete theoretical
connotations (Alexis de Tocqueville, 1988). Firstly, it emphasizes the ultimate purpose is for
individual interests. Society is just a tool that serves people. Secondly, it stresses on individual
freedom and democracy. Thirdly, it points out from personal view the rightness of privatization of
property. American historian Commager thought that individualism eventually became the
synonym of Americanism (1988). In the Longman Dictionary of Contemporary English of the 1997

individual people are the most important rights in a society. The other is the behavior or attitude of
someone who does things in their own way without being influenced by other people. On the
contrary, individualism is defined as pejorative connotation in The Contemporary Chinese

own interests instead of collective interests, which is not a right idea. By the analysis of the
definition of individualism it s clear that the pattern of Chinese culture stresses people s inner world

The Curse And The Doom Of The New World
Introduction 1.Fuku means a curse or a doom of some kind; specifically the Curse and the
Doom of the New World (Diaz, 1). The significance fuku had in the Dominican history and
beliefs were that the name was placed on the people that did harm to the Dominican Republic.
For example, The Admiral s very name has become synonymous with both kinds of fuku, little
and large; to say his name aloud or even to hear it is to invite calamity on the heads of you and
yours (Diaz, 1). Also, the dictator Trujillo was considered a powerful fuku, if anyone would
have utter his name in vain one would have been kick out of sea. Fuku is believed to have been
unleashed by the arrival of Europeans on Hispaniola. 2.I think Diaz chose to convey historical
facts and anecdotes in footnote form for the fact that Diaz may assume one may know
something. But just in case someone does not know it he included a brief description. For
example, when Diaz mentions the dictator Trujillo and if I don t know anything of him, I can
just look at the footnote for brief description of him. Also, I think Diaz chose this method for the
people who want to learn more about the person or thing. 3.I think the purpose of Diaz writing
this book is related to fuku. This is because the introduction is based on the word fuku and
different ways fuku is portrayed in history. Also, on the line, As I m sure you ve guessed by now, I

The Effect Of Gibberellins On Seeds Germination Of Seed...
Abstract
Faster and uniform germination of seed as well as establishment of vigourous crop is of paramount
importance in direct seeded rice crop, which in turn depends on seed germination and vigour per se.
Rice being an albuminous seed, it is hypothesized that galactomannan hydrolysing enzymes (viz.,
ОІ mannanase, ОІ mannosidase and О± galactosidase) play important role in loosening of the
embryo surrounding tissue viz., endosperm, which in turn governs the speed of germination. The
study was an assessment of this hypothesis, on ten rice genotypes comprising of five early
germinating (which have taken less than 30 hours for radicle emergence) and five late germinating
(which have taken more than 44 hours for radicle emergence) genotypes. The effect of gibberellins
(GA) and Abscisic acid (ABA) on enzyme activity was also subsequently evaluated. The activities
of ОІ mannanase, ОІ mannosidase and О± galactosidase were present in dry and germinating rice
seeds and increased during germination. GA could promote the activities of all the three enzymes
that reduced the time taken by the germinating seed to reach the stage of lemma rupture and radicle
emergence. On the other hand, ABA had an antagonistic effect on the activities of these enzymes
and enhanced the time taken by the germinating seed to reach the stage of radicle emergence.
However, no changes were observed with respect to time taken for lemma rupture, which
corroborate that lemma rupture could be due to expansion of

Critical Issue 16 is, will school improvement efforts alone narrow the racial/ethnic achievement
gap. Katie Haycock believes in adequate funding and that high standards will improve academic
achievement (Paciorek). She thinks the only way to really close the gap is to fix the
underperforming schools. Richard Rothstein believes the achievement gap will be narrowed when
the outside groups collaborate, not just those functioning within the school. He wants to bring
more people to the table to improve academic achievement (Paciorek). I found an article called
Closing the Achievement Gap by Tashlai McKinstry. In her article she states there is an increase in
the achievement gap in the US; the blame for this should not be placed solely on the... Show more

One of the points that is stated in our book is, student expectations must be raised. When a student
is fighting one of those barriers that McKinstry stated, it will be more difficult on those students to
raise their expectations if they do not have a good support system. McKinstry states that educators
often lack specialized skills to address severe behavior and learning challenges and that the time to
handle those issues doesn t exist; which will result in the students having little to no help. I
personally agree with Richard Rothstein, the achievement gap cannot be closed without the
collaboration of outside groups. Teachers cannot close the achievement gap on their own, if they
could then I think the achievement gap would be closed by now. So, being that the achievement
gap is not closed, it shows that teachers being high quality educators is not the

Fear Of Manipulating A Spinal Injury
Focusing my attention back on the PL, I moved to check the one place unseen and began
removing his helmet. His head was protected, but tilting his chin back was one thing I didn t
want to do for fear of manipulating a spinal injury. It also is what finally exposed and opened the
small hole in his throat from an apparent piece of shrapnel and he began to bleed profusely. I
immediately called the medic away from one of the less seriously wounded to help me with the
bleeding. I packed the wound but loosely, not wanting to interfere with what was left of his airway
and then pulled him up to my lap so I could maintain pressure on the wound. He was still dying.
Running out of options, I checked his airway again and manipulated his tongue... Show more

Shortly thereafter, he regained life signs and consciousness, attempting to sit up even. I called
for a litter and directed he be secured and ready to move, meanwhile contacting the Command
Post to provide a situation report and moving to check on other casualties at the CCP. At this
time I had twelve that needed evacuation and eight more walking wounded. There were barely
enough lucid Soldiers to pull security, but my biggest problem was that the QRF had not
arrived yet. Searching for an improvised solution for the PL who I believed was expectant at
this point, I saw an Afghan National Army truck parked nearby with a driver who seemed as
though he was trying to help. I directed that the PL be loaded onto the back of the pickup truck
with two ambulatory Soldiers who could pull security on both the surroundings and the driver. I
sent the medic to monitor his airway. The interpreter conveyed my directions to the driver to take
the Soldiers straight to our Entry Control Point at the AP, and I instructed the PL s security to take
the vehicle by any means necessary if the driver did not follow directions. Our Platoon Leader was
now conscious and responsive, and I told him where he was going and why. Less than fifteen
minutes after the attack, the PL and his fight for life was on his way to next level care. As the
truck pulled off our 3rd Platoon arrived as QRF.
The QRF medic took over where ours had left off. All the casualties were stable and

How Did John Locke s View Of Government
During the seventeenth century it was mainly concerned with order and power. These concerns
were based upon the political philosophies of two Englishmen with both different beliefs and
thoughts. Both of these philosophers wrote a work on their political thoughts and how a
government should have been ruled.A response to the governmentcrises during the seventeenth
century was to find more steadiness and stability by increasing the power of the monarch.
Philosophers Thomas Hobbes and John Lockecame to very dinstanct conclusions about human
nature and the role of government. But perhaps whose ideal government beliefs were better for the

between these ideas one being that Adam, the first man in the Bible, had absolute authority over his
children, their children, and all succeeding people throughout history, since his power was ordained
by God. Locke thought that idea was insane, while granting that Adam had authority over his own
children, as all parents do, he argued that saying only the heir of Adam could have authority over all
human society was impossible, since proving the authenticity of inheritance was impossible. The

Water
Clamp
Graduated cylinder
Heat proof mat
Bunsen burner
Stop watch
Paraffin, diesel, ethanol
Goggles
Procedure:
Take the 250ml beaker and weigh it.
Measure out 100ml of water
Pour the water into the beaker
Weigh the beaker of water to obtain mass of the water
Take an empty alcohol burner and weigh it without the wick.
Measure out 10ml of ethanol
Place the ethanol into the alcohol burner
Weigh the alcohol burner with the ethanol to obtain the mass of the ethanol
Place the wick in the burner
Record the temperature of the water in the beaker
Light the wick and start the stopwatch
Note observation of the flame produced
When the ethanol is completely burned record the final temperature of the water.
Calculate the heat of combustion for ethanol using the following formula: energy evolved = (mass

Examine the ways in which Shakespeare makes dramatic use...
Examine the ways in which Shakespeare makes dramatic use of deception and trickery in The
Tempest. In your answer you should also make connections to scenes 3:2 and 3:3 of Doctor Faustus.
Deception is defined as the act of deceiving someone and tricky is the practice of deception.
Shakespeare s The Tempest uses deception in the themes of power through his magic and control,
even if this involves betraying his adored daughter, Miranda. However, in comparison to Marlowe s
Dr Faustus , deception has more negative connotions which involve cruelty, particularly in 3:2, with
the treatment of the Pope, whereas Shakespeare focuses more on the positive outcomes that may
occur from attempting to control and trick people, with the constant ... Show more content on

Magic gives Prospero incredible power which he uses to his advantage, even though Ariel is one
of Prospero s most trusted and loyal friends, Prospero does not fil to mention the time Sycorax
deceived Ariel by locking him the tree and freeing him, therefore Ariel has been in Prospero s
debt for a long time, which is similar to Marlowe s Dr. Faustus, in which Faustus is in the devil s
debt in return for power as he soons has to give away his soul, therefore the theme of trickery is
common as Prospero blackmails Ariel into being his servant, Imprisoned thou didst painfully
remain a dozen years .
On the other hand, the Shakespearean audience may have felt like at this time, Prospero was the
deceiver as he comitted treason by choosing to practice magic on purpose, therefore the audience
may blame Prospero instead of Antonio. Antonio simply took advantage of the situation and took
over power as Prospero was too power conscious. Nevertheless Prospero s purpose is to bring his
dukedom back together, alongside his people and restore justice, which are incredibly dissimilar to
Antionio, Trinculo s and Stephano s motives who are simply greedy and materialistic. Prospero
plainly wants to teach Alonso and Antonio a lesson. The storm comes to a halt and nobody is hurt,

Good Reputation Research Paper
A reputation is the recognition or impression of a person without getting the chance to meet who it
is. Reputations are important because it shows the respect others have for someone whether that is
a stranger or a friend. It also affects how an individual is judged through first impressions. Overall,
a reputation is an expectation of what a personis known to be, and how one opinion can have a
drastic effect on someone else s life.
To me, reputations are people s expectation of what an individual is as a whole. Whether the
characteristic a person embodies is good or bad, others are quick to judge. For example, I have
the reputation of being responsible. To most of my friends, I m known for getting my work done
on time while getting a good night s rest. What they don t know, I m scrambling to get my work
done because of procrastination, to go to bed at a reasonable hour. Therefore proving, people
expect me to be a certain way when they don t know the whole truth. Overall, a reputation is a way

Socrates, the famous Greek philosopher, said, The way to gain a good reputation is to endeavor
to be what you desire to appear . In other words, a person receives a good reputation by searching a
way to feel comfortable with how they want others to perceive them. Yet, another s judgment can
affect the outcome of how someone wants their reputation to be. Without the respect of others, a
person can be in solitude, shying away from social contact.
Therefore, a reputation is just an opinion of what someone is supposed to be and the effect their
respect can have on another person. I believe a reputation is just a way to file someone under a
category to distinguish who that person is as a whole. Along with that, the respect or opinion to an
individual has the ability to change how others perceive them. Although reputations aren t reputable
themselves, they can affect lives for better or

Protecting Against Terrorist Attacks in Urban...
Introduction
Blast protection, until recently, has only needed to be considered when constructing underground
shelters and military bunkers. Currently, however, there is a need for urban buildings and similar
structures used consistently by the general public to withstand forces from nearby explosions.
This need is due to the recent climb in terrorist attacks in urban or crowded environments. These
attacks have used the lack of blast resistance in these buildings as a means for creating widespread
havoc through detonating an improvised explosive device (IED). These devices range from
explosives planted inside a structure to roadside or vehicular bombs. An urban environment causes
even relatively small explosions to be extremely potent ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Structures that collapse in an urban environment result in casualties inside the building and also
result in collateral damage that may cause nearby structures to also collapse. This effect was seen
in the collapse of the World Trade Center in New York City, although this collapse was not a result
of the initial explosion. Had the towers not collapsed, it is estimated that close to half of the deaths
could have been prevented (Dwyer). It is therefore vitally important for buildings that suffer
damage from explosions to remain structurally stable for as long as

Ancient Ghana Essay
Introduction
The people of Ancient Ghana were known as Soninke. The Soninke were the subgroup of Mande
speaking ethnic group. Ancient Ghana was one of Africa s hot spots for trading. This trade
growth lead to them to be one of the greatest empires in Africa. Location plays a key point to why
they were extremely successful, they were placed south of the Saharan desert and northwest of the
Niger River, quite a humid area. Ancient Ghana were the middle man to some other trading
countries. One of their trades, gold, was discovered in the 9th Century and it came in vast
quantities. After the discovery of gold, Ancient Ghana expanded, King of Gold is what Ghana

Every single piece of solid gold in Ancient Ghana was owned by the king. Gold dust though
could be used by the traders for trading. With the trading of gold dust, it would boost the demand
for it and the price would go up, the king believed. Although people traded in the cities, silent
bartering also took place. One merchant would leave example 1 pound of gold and another
merchant would take that and leave behind one pound of salt. A system of trade that surprisingly
worked.

Leadership Styles During The Workplace
Different leadership styles result in various results in the workplace. The Fiedler contingency
model postulates a leader s style is static; however, God can transform anyone s heart and thus
their leadership style. Additionally, the grapevine can be an important tool for employers. As long
as each individual chooses to use gossip for honorable purposes, God will bless the workplace.

Approaches to Leadership
There are many different ways in which individuals lead. Whether implicit or by choice, the
style and the way it is applied can lead to success or failure in the workplace. My boss and I
approach leadership in completely different ways. While my boss leans toward only a
transactional style, specifically Laissez faire, or management by exception, I prefer a combination
of transactional and translational styles. According to Robbins and Judge (2012), Laissez faire is
the most passive and therefore least effective of leader behaviors (Robbins Judge, 2012, p. 382).
Additionally, management by exception is somewhat better, however it remains one of the weakest
leadership styles. Leaders using this style fail to be engaged with the employees unless and until
there is an issue requiring their

  • 3. Causes Of The Second Triumvirate The Second Triumvirate existed from 43 B.C. to 33 B.C. The Second Triumvirate lasted for only ten years. The Second Triumvirate years were filled with a variety of battles between the three men. Rome will fall with the new Triumvirate because the people have been deceived and have faced many troubles, the Triumviratehas tasted power and are greedy for more, and the three men in the Triumvirate mistrust and dislike each other. The Triumvirate stealing from the public s fortune shows their lack of morals and concern for Rome. Before the war against the conspirators started, Mark Antonycommanded Lepidus to fetch the will (4.1.11) in order to see how they would cut some charge in legacies (4.1.12). Some may say Antony took the money to help protect the people of Rome. However, Mark Antony used the poor, naive, confused public to ensure he got revenge on Brutus and the conspirators. Antony sparked the fire to start this war in order to get revenge and will use the people s money to get revenge, not to protect. In addition, the Triumvirate has no respect for human life. Their lack of sympathy towards the deaths of soldiers and civilians showed their inconsideration for them. They simply said that they shall not live (4.1.9) and that they are damn[ed] (4.1.9). Others may say that they didn t hold significant consideration towards their death because it is normal for people to die in a war. Yet, the war was initiated by Mark Antony and his thirst for revenge. He is the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Social And Biological Characteristics Of Femininity In... Femininity is comprised of both the social and biological factors that make a person feminine or womanly. The ideal feminine varies by society, culture and even era. According to _____, femininity or masculinity is based on what society considers to be valuable. In Marie de France s Lanval femininity in its most ideal form, is based on exterior qualities such as a beautiful face and thin body as well as a womans willingness to give her body and love to a man to use at his disposal. These two qualities are exhibited by the woman in poem, making her valuable and desired by society, but specifically Lanval who falls in love with her. This type of femininityis shallow and materialistic, forgetting to acknowledge what is on the inside, varying much from the characteristics that femininity would be composed of in today s society. Topic sentence to lead into this paragraph about the theory. When Lanval first sees the woman, he is immediately drawn to her beauty. The lily and the young rose/ when they appear in the summer/ are surpassed by her beauty (94 96). Lanval knows nothing about this woman, except that she is worthy of his love and her beauty that lies in front of him. She is a beautiful woman with a body well shaped and elegant (100). The woman s identity has yet been revealed to Lanval, yet he is already in love with her: He looked at her and saw that she was beautiful/ love stung him with a spark/ that burned and set fire to his heart (117 119). • 5. Marie Curie s Popular Images Although Marie Curie was not the first woman to excel in science or mathematics, she can be considered the first major woman scientist to receive full credit for her scientific work. Considering her Nobel prizes alone, she is ranked at the top of the scientists of the modern period. Despite this, somehow Marie Curies popular images, as well as those embedded in some of the scholarly literature, suggest important, but rather modest contributions to society (Pycior, 301). Marie Curiewas born Maria Salomea Sklodowska on November 7, 1867, in Poland into a family that was liberal minded and committed to learning. Both her parents worked in a school setting, until her farther was forced to resign for political reasons when Marie was young, and her father converted the family s home into a boarding school. The school Marie attended was important for young Marie, because the education of women was prohibited under the oppressive Russian occupation. Her sister and mother died when she was in her adolescence, but all of her other family members stayed deeply committed to education, and the exceptionally gifted Marie graduate from high school for girls who had the highest honors only to encounter a nearly insurmountable obstacle: In Poland, advanced studies were not available for women. • 6. Elizabeth Freeman Essay From the early 1740s to 1829, an African American woman lived and unexpectedly became an important woman in history. Even though most people never heard of her, what she did change how people look at other African Americans. She was born in the early 1740s to African parents, and she grew up as a slave with her sister Lizzie in Claverack, New York, which is about twenty miles south of Albany. Their owner was Pieter Hogeboom, who was the head of a wealthy Dutch American family. In 1735, Hogeboom s daughter Hannah married John Ashley, who was the son of one of the original proprietors permitted by the General Court of Massachusettsto organize settlements along the Housatonic River. When Hogeboom died in 1758, Lizzie and her were taken... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In one of the three town meetings in Berkshire County which John Ashley represented, Ashley was denounced for being against the highly approved circular letter (Swan). Even though he was denounced, in the next election, he was chosen again to represent the area. In early 1773, Bett was serving refreshments to a dozen white men that had gathered at the Ashley s house to draw up a petition to take into consideration the grievances which Americans in general and Inhabitants of this Province in particular labor under (Swan). Ashley, who was chairman at this meeting, set up a set of resolutions, which the first read Resolved, That mankind in a state of nature are equal, free, and independent of each other, and have a right to the undisturbed enjoyment of their lives, their liberty, and property (Rawls, pg. 188). This meeting was well noted by Bett. In 1780, George Mason, who was the author of the Virgina bill of rights and a plantation owner of 118 slaves, wrote: All men are by nature equally free and independent (Rawls, pg. 187). He was not thinking about the slaves though. He was thinking about white Americans, that they are equal to the British and should have the same rights as them. When other Virgina legislators saw this, they added Slaves, not being constituent members of our society, could never pretend to any benefit from such maxim (Rawls, pg. 187). The citadels seem to have housed central administration and housing for an elite class of citizens. They were built on hills, presumably as another layer of fortification. I will examine the sites of Gla, Midea, Tiryns, and Mycenaeto look for similarities and differences in the design and architecture of their fortifications, as well as, arguments about the purpose of the fortifications at these sites. I will also explore how some sites were hindered or helped defensively and economically by their location and their use of fortifications. Midea s fortification walls were observable by 19th century travelers (Iakovidis, 1983) and later excavations uncovered the gates from the walls as well. Like other Late Helladic sites, the fortification walls were built on a natural hill. At Midea this hill is surrounded by a plain and is significantly taller than the surrounding area at 171 meters and the slopes are hard to climb. This puts the citadel of the site in an easily defensible position in case of any attack. The hill is so steep in areas that builders did not need to build fortification walls on the east and south east sides. The walls at Midea were built using Cyclopean masonry like other fortification walls found from this time. The walls are also very thick, ranging from 5.50 7 meters in various areas (Iakovidis, 1983). Like other Mycenaean sites, there is also evidence of a palace area inside the fortification walls. Terracing and other buildings have also been uncovered during excavations, in keeping with the traditional role of the fortification walls being placed around an administrative or elite center. Unlike some other Mycenaean sites, Midea s fortification walls entrance gates were relatively simple and the walls were never expanded. • 8. Antisocial Personality Disorder In Gone Girl Synopsis Gone Girl, published in 2012 by author Gillian Flynn, is a thriller in its own. Later, in 2014, a film adaptation was released, directed by David Fincher, bringing all the creativity left in the novel to life. Nick Dunne, a writing teacher, comes home on the day of his fifth wedding anniversary to find his wife, Amy Elliot Dunne, is nowhere to be found. After conferring with the police, Amy is officially listed as a missing person. It is later decided that Amy had been murdered due to the scene, though no body was found. They also tend to be impulsive and deceitful, as well as having a lack of remorse for their own actions. The movie Gone Girl portrays Antisocial Personality Disorder very well, although Amy was never actually diagnosed. Throughout the movie, Amy does many things that show a lack of remorse, mainly when she tries to frame Nick for a murder that never happened. She went to many extremes to set up a fake murder scene, including taking a lot of her own blood and then pouring it on the floor of the kitchen. She then proceeded to throw a little on the wall above the stove to make it look like a messy clean up job, the way someone like Nick would do. Amy even went as far as to have written a minimum of 300 journal entries about Nick, how he was abusive, and that she was scared he was going to kill her. She also befriended their one neighbor, Noelle, and told her all about Nick s abuse so she would have someone to back up her story. Noelle was also pregnant, so Amy broke her own toilet so she could steal the Noelle s pee and take it to the doctor so it would become a medical fact that Amy was pregnant when Nick supposedly killed her. This would give Nick a motive because one of the many things Amy had written about was that Nick never wanted kids, even though the reality was that Nick did want kids, but Amy did not. Throughout the movie, Amy is also very deceitful. She gets Noelle to actually believe her lies, and also believe she genuinely wanted to be friends. Amy even went back to Desi, her obsessive ex boyfriend that she claims even tried to kill himself because they broke up. She tricked Desi into believing that her staging her own murder was somehow okay, and he also believed that she genuinely missed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Original Sin In The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner Warren and Coleridge both have different understandings of what original sin is and how it is portrayed in The Rime of the Ancient Mariner. Original sin is defined as that sin and its guilt that we all possess in God s eyes as a direct result of Adam s sin in the Garden of Eden. While Coleridge sees all sin as equal, Warren believes that it is the severity of the sin that defines how evil the act is. I believe that modern society would closely align with Coleridge s idea that it does not matter what sin he actually committed, it s about the initial murderous thought he possessed. Warren believes that although the mariner killed the albatross, it would have been much worse if it was a human being, ignoring the fact that for original sinto be present in an act it must be present at all times. Coleridge s idea is that the initial murderous thought that the mariner had to lead him to kill is still a sin, meaning that there are not different levels of sin. The... On the other hand, there will be people who stand with Warren and say that if you believe that all sin is equal, would you punish a homeless man for stealing food to feed his family the same way you would punish Hitler for killing 6 million Jews? However, most Christians just believe that you have transgressed and will be held accountable. Religion does also play a large role in how people view sin and how to repent for that sin. Christianity closely relates to Christianity, while the Muslim religion is like Warren in the sense that you have to work for forgiveness. Most people today though would closely align with Coleridge s idea of original sin. The idea of equality for all is very present today and is displayed in media. • 10. The Migration Of South Australia And The Pacific Islands Around 50,000 years ago, a limited group of humans migrated through to northern Australia and the Pacific Islands by means of primitive boat. Scholars believe that it is highly likely theses trips were planned, due to the fact that enough women and men to furnish a new population had traveled collectively (Kamrani, Kambiz). Seeing as how the Pacific was the first ocean to be explored in this time marks the ocean crossing coming out of Eurasia to Australia and the Pacific Islands one of humanity s earliest great achievements. Although as to where the migrants began their journey before the travel to the islands is arguable at best, there exist numerous migration routes stemming from Africa to Southeast Asia and onward. Still, it became a tremendous accomplishment for mankind, though the justifying means as to how, why and when the journey was made are still a debated topic among scholars. The migration of early humans to Australia and New Guinea from Southeast Asia is known as the Southern wave. The actual timing of it is hard to ascertain as it appears after the end of the last Ice Age (12,000 years ago), the glaciers that melted had drowned large stretches of coastline covering any possible evidence for newage scientists and making it certain that the humans had to endure a fifty mile voyage at sea to reach land in Australia. Using sea crafts strong enough and advanced far beyond the technology norm at the time, in order to survive such a journey, settlements of these early ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

While there are many similarities between the Hayward Gallery and Royal Festival Hall, there also are a number of differences in terms of planning and finishing in relation to urban context. Higgs and Hill built the Hayward Gallery, which opened on The 9th of July. It is an art gallery located in the Southbank Centre, which is a key arts venue in Central London. Until early 2011 the gallery was simply known as the Hayward. The Royal Festival Hall is situated adjacent to the Hayward Gallery. The Party has basically turned the people in Oceania into robots that aren t allowed to think for themselves and do the things that they feel is right because the Party has manipulated them into thinking a certain way. One way that the Party psychologically manipulates the people is by overworking them, because when people are overworked they are not able to think as well as they would when they were rested so it is easier to manipulate them at their stage of weakness. Winston is also very unhappy and angry in the novel but he is not able to pinpoint why he is very unhappy and angry, he knows that he is because of the Party but he does not know what aspects f the Party are making him feel this way. On the other hand Julia knows what is wrong with the Party and she actually analyzes why the Party does the things that it does and how the Party is helping itself out by doing these things. For example, in the novel Julia is able to think about things like why the Party took away love and passion and her reasoning is that maybe when they take away love and passion they can channel that into a massive love for the Party. Julia is also very skilled at be undercover, she knows how to work the system and not get caught, but Winston does not understand this. Winston is not as sneaky as Julia and wants to involve other people in his rebellion before he knows that he can trust them whereas Julia takes time so she knows that it s safe. Comparing Gender And The Media 3.2 Gender and the Media. 3.2.1 The portrayal of men in films There are a variety of men portrayed in modern films: ranging from the most common manly man to the goofball to the slowly emerging more sensitive man: one who is more comfortable with stereotypically female emotions such as sadness. Men in films such as The Hangover fall into the lad category, characterized by their immaturity, and adolescent behavior (Moore 1998:209). Men are also portrayed as the warrior , or hero in films such as Saving Private Ryan , or San Andreas respectively. This examination occurred by administering a survey in order to test and give a clear answer to the research questions and the proposed research model that was formulated and presented in details in the introduction part. As this paper contributes to the field of brand engagement by presenting a conceptual model of brand engagement on online social media platforms specifically in Twitter and confirming it through empirical analysis, the findings of the study could present important ... • 18. The Dangerous Effects of Chemical Warfare in World War One Upon the battlefield of World War One, soldiers huddle in trenches, faces veiled behind gas masks. These bulky facial coverings were designed to protect the soldiers from deadly gases used by the enemy. The use of chemical agents in World War One led to the need for the production of better protection from the deadly effects of the agents. Chlorinegas could be dropped from cylinders above the victims, its high density causing it to flow downwards onto its unsuspecting foe (Fire 121). Also, the British Authorities struggled to decide whether or not to approve the use of gas for offensive use, and whether a large scale chemical war was something to be avoided at all costs (Girard 107). The gas masks worn by soldiers increased their discomfort and made it hard to move around, instilling a sense of panic in them when a gas raid was underway (Fire 121). The French were the first to fire asphyxiating gas shells from field guns and pioneered the use of gas as a neutralization weapon (Krause 553). The psychological damage of gas attacks on soldiers was mainly because of the horror of seeing their unprepared comrades suffocating and screaming in agony from burns inflicted by mustard gas (Fitzgerald 611). Animals were used in the World War, horses for transport, pigeons for contact, and dogs for protection and defense (Walk). Obviously, there would have to be modified gas masks for the animals on the battle field (Walk.) The panic of the early days of gas research led to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first stage describes unexamined ethnic identity and states that individuals fall into one of two categories based on their knowledge or influences of ethnicity. The two categories include, the diffusion category, when the individual has not previously encountered ethnicity as an issue or topic, and the foreclosure category, when individuals have collected information about ethnicity from their family and peers, also succumbing to such information without actually interacting with individuals of that ethnic population, (Phinney, 1993). For many individuals in this stage, ethnicity is not typically viewed as an issue, which in turn, leads to diffusion or foreclosure, while other individuals may impart strong ethnic views and seem to jump ahead to stage three. The second stage of Phinney s model has to do with the search or moratorium of individuals ethnic identity that describes when an individual encounters can alter how people view and become aware of their own ethnicity (1993). Phinney (1993), suggests that individuals may remain in this stage for a long period of time and may even experience rather intense emotions. The reason the profits seem higher under absorption costing is that there are substantial fixed costs of the period that were capitalized because production was so much higher than sales. The fixed costs is trapped on the balance sheet and will be expensed when the items are sold. See reconciliation in Excel for a visual on this. 4. Identify and explain any important ethical issues you see in this case. In determining the fixed costs per unit for the period for absorption costing (not needed for variable costing since the entire fixed cost is expensed as a cost of the month, not a cost of units), you spread the fixed costs across all the units made. Since production was increased substantially, the fixed cost per unit was reduced: Fixed manufacturing cost per unit: at 140,000 units $ 13.71 at 175,000 units $ 10.97 This gives the illusion of lower cost of goods sold (and thus higher profits) but it is, in fact, just a temporary capitalizing of the fixed manufacturing costs due to inventory build up. While building inventories does trap fixed costs on the balance sheet, pressuring managers to improve profits gives them an incentive to build inventories to spread the fixed costs thinner and make COGS smaller per unit. I was drawn to this topic after listening to Tovia Smith s podcast, Selfish Giving: Does It Count If You Get In Return?. High school students use service to get into college while offenders use service to make amends with the community they have harmed. The significance fuku had in the Dominican history and beliefs were that the name was placed on the people that did harm to the Dominican Republic. For example, The Admiral s very name has become synonymous with both kinds of fuku, little and large; to say his name aloud or even to hear it is to invite calamity on the heads of you and yours (Diaz, 1). Also, the dictator Trujillo was considered a powerful fuku, if anyone would have utter his name in vain one would have been kick out of sea. Fuku is believed to have been unleashed by the arrival of Europeans on Hispaniola. 2.I think Diaz chose to convey historical facts and anecdotes in footnote form for the fact that Diaz may assume one may know something. But just in case someone does not know it he included a brief description. • 38. A Spring Morning at Grandma’s Antique Shop Essay The sun catches on the many colors of transparent glass: Forest green, cobalt blue, peachy pink, and amber yellow forms a surrealistic prism around the room. In the swirling colors, Victorian dolls dance. This is the image that comes to mind when I think of a spring morning at Grandma s Antique Shop. Gravel crunches as I walk toward the old gray house. Above the steps is a baby blue sign that reads Todd s Treasures, a hoe and rake form a pyramid over the sign. The steps are wooden and give gently with each quick step I take. The sleigh bells on the door jingles as I open it calling, Hello Grandma. My voice echoes and Grandma says hello from wherever she is, usually the desk. This ribbon was awarded to my Great Great Great Grandfather, a confederate veteran on the fourth of July in 1912. A yellowed newspaper clipping states Game Warden wounded in gun battle. A black and white photograph of an old black couple is sitting in the windowsill, and a large black and white picture of a family reunion sits hangs on the wall. Near the desk are two chairs, where you can sit and talk to Grandma. Down the middle of the room are three wash stands. On the back one, is a gold Candelabra with angels who hold crystals. Jewelry, pocket watches, arrowheads, old coins, confederate bills, and a tin top are in the display case. On top of it is a tin toy train. It is painted yellow, green, blue and red. Behind the display case, are boards where necklaces and earrings hang. Most of the shelves in this room contain glass items. • 39. The Effect Of Gibberellins On Seeds Germination Of Seed... Abstract Faster and uniform germination of seed as well as establishment of vigourous crop is of paramount importance in direct seeded rice crop, which in turn depends on seed germination and vigour per se. Rice being an albuminous seed, it is hypothesized that galactomannan hydrolysing enzymes (viz., ОІ mannanase, ОІ mannosidase and О± galactosidase) play important role in loosening of the embryo surrounding tissue viz., endosperm, which in turn governs the speed of germination. The study was an assessment of this hypothesis, on ten rice genotypes comprising of five early germinating (which have taken less than 30 hours for radicle emergence) and five late germinating (which have taken more than 44 hours for radicle emergence) genotypes. The effect of gibberellins (GA) and Abscisic acid (ABA) on enzyme activity was also subsequently evaluated. The activities of ОІ mannanase, ОІ mannosidase and О± galactosidase were present in dry and germinating rice seeds and increased during germination. GA could promote the activities of all the three enzymes that reduced the time taken by the germinating seed to reach the stage of lemma rupture and radicle emergence. On the other hand, ABA had an antagonistic effect on the activities of these enzymes and enhanced the time taken by the germinating seed to reach the stage of radicle emergence. However, no changes were observed with respect to time taken for lemma rupture, which corroborate that lemma rupture could be due to expansion of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. Closing The Achievement Gap Critical Issue 16 is, will school improvement efforts alone narrow the racial/ethnic achievement gap. Katie Haycock believes in adequate funding and that high standards will improve academic achievement (Paciorek). She thinks the only way to really close the gap is to fix the underperforming schools. Richard Rothstein believes the achievement gap will be narrowed when the outside groups collaborate, not just those functioning within the school. He wants to bring more people to the table to improve academic achievement (Paciorek). I found an article called Closing the Achievement Gap by Tashlai McKinstry. One of the points that is stated in our book is, student expectations must be raised. When a student is fighting one of those barriers that McKinstry stated, it will be more difficult on those students to raise their expectations if they do not have a good support system. McKinstry states that educators often lack specialized skills to address severe behavior and learning challenges and that the time to handle those issues doesn t exist; which will result in the students having little to no help. I personally agree with Richard Rothstein, the achievement gap cannot be closed without the collaboration of outside groups. Teachers cannot close the achievement gap on their own, if they could then I think the achievement gap would be closed by now. So, being that the achievement gap is not closed, it shows that teachers being high quality educators is not the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I sent the medic to monitor his airway. The interpreter conveyed my directions to the driver to take the Soldiers straight to our Entry Control Point at the AP, and I instructed the PL s security to take the vehicle by any means necessary if the driver did not follow directions. Shakespeare s The Tempest uses deception in the themes of power through his magic and control, even if this involves betraying his adored daughter, Miranda. • 46. Good Reputation Research Paper A reputation is the recognition or impression of a person without getting the chance to meet who it is. Reputations are important because it shows the respect others have for someone whether that is a stranger or a friend. It also affects how an individual is judged through first impressions. Overall, a reputation is an expectation of what a personis known to be, and how one opinion can have a drastic effect on someone else s life. To me, reputations are people s expectation of what an individual is as a whole. Whether the characteristic a person embodies is good or bad, others are quick to judge. For example, I have the reputation of being responsible. To most of my friends, I m known for getting my work done on time while getting a good night s rest. What they don t know, I m scrambling to get my work done because of procrastination, to go to bed at a reasonable hour. Yet, another s judgment can affect the outcome of how someone wants their reputation to be. Without the respect of others, a person can be in solitude, shying away from social contact. Therefore, a reputation is just an opinion of what someone is supposed to be and the effect their respect can have on another person. I believe a reputation is just a way to file someone under a category to distinguish who that person is as a whole. Currently, however, there is a need for urban buildings and similar structures used consistently by the general public to withstand forces from nearby explosions. This need is due to the recent climb in terrorist attacks in urban or crowded environments. These attacks have used the lack of blast resistance in these buildings as a means for creating widespread havoc through detonating an improvised explosive device (IED). According to Robbins and Judge (2012), Laissez faire is the most passive and therefore least effective of leader behaviors (Robbins Judge, 2012, p. 382).
