Nasdaq Financial Variable
The financial variable I chose was, the NASDAQ Composite (IXIC). A stock market index that
is comprised of common stocks and similar securities. The price of NASDAQ from 1971 to
present day has grown significantly over time. Opening at just over a hundred dollars, the
NASDAQ s price now hovers around six thousand. Even though this data is collected on a daily
basis, I used a quarterly observation date of prices to show how over multiple decades the price
of the NASDAQ rose and fell. Using a daily observation is not necessary because the quarterly
prices, can reflect how each quarter did every day through that one quarter. The NASDAQ
ended up being a good financial variable because how the data is measured on average at the end
of the period rather than over the period. From the start of the NASDAQ it grew in small
increments until 1992 when it skyrocketed over two thousand dollars in just six years. Although
its growth did not stay consistent after this. The NASDAQ faced major hits in the early 2000 s as
well as in 2008. Both of these events can be associated with extreme events that happened in the
past. In the early... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The NASDAQ today is one of the most popular traded stock indexes today. Many people that
involve themselves in the financial system, use the NASDAQ as a model to see how well the
market as a whole is doing. Another reason for using the NASDAQ is to see how much it can be
impacted by events such as the financial crisis in 2008 or even 9/11. Knowing that these events
have great influence on the market can help further inform those who involve themselves in the
financial system, for down the road in life. Having a good sense how the market will react to
certain events, and a well thought out plan that will not allow losses to amount to the extremes that
they once did. Analyzing the NASDAQ Composite, can be a great reflection for how strong the
U.S. economy

Diction And Images In Bullhead By Leigh Allison Wilson
Love and the memory could be last forever, but sometimes it is not good to hold on to the past. In
the story Bullhead , Leigh Allison Wilson uses diction and images to portray the theme of holding
to the past could hurt the present. The story is told from the perspective of the daughter which is
the narrator. By using diction and images, Wilson portrays the mother s careless to her family and
deeply holding on to the past. The narrator describes the story as simple , perhaps because the
mother tells it much timeto the daughter even though she already has a family of her own (Wilson
1). The mother seems careless about her daughter where she looks right through her as though the
daughter hadn t been born (Wilson 1). Wilson also uses diction

Common Strategies Of Explaining Human Behavior
Common strategies of NLP
The idea of NLP is heavily based on the ideas of strategy, as it sees your internal and external
behaviour uses processing strategies for each behaviour and response. The system uses different
ideas of strategies as part of explaining human behaviour, as well as a way to change it.
The most common strategies of NLP are dealt in short detail below. There are further strategies
used and some of the strategies and the way they are applied depend on the context of use.
Modelling
The basis of the NLP theory was built around modelling. Modelling is considered as a means of
finding out about a person s belief system, as well as physiology. It is also used in terms of
understanding the person s mental strategies, which in turn influence the other two aspects of
thinking and behaviour.
Modelling essentially tried to find the strategies or mental behaviour patterns the person uses for
doing things. An example of modelling could be about how a person learns a new skill. In order to
learn to speak Spanish, the person would need to model three things. First, to learn the vocabulary.
This simply means understanding that gato means cat, for instance.
Then the person would need to learn syntax. This means the ability to put these words together in
order to make a sentence. For example, the ability to say Me llamo John , My name is John .
Finally, the third part of modelling would be about understanding the mouth movements. Different
languages have a

Explain the mechanism referred to in the above statement...
Trade between advanced countries that are abundant in capital and skill and NIEs (Newly
Industrialising Economies) with their abundant supply of unskilled labour was raising the wages of
highly skilled workers and lowering the wages of less skilled workers in the skill and capital
abundant countries (Krugman, Obstfeld and Melitz). Explain the mechanism referred to in the
above statement using the Heckscher Ohlin model.
The Heckscher Ohlin model is extremely useful when illustrating how endowments of a particular
resource can influence trade between economies. The model shows us how comparative advantage
is explained somewhat by the relative abundance of certain resources, such as land, labour or
capital.
The Heckscher Ohlin (HO) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Assuming the demand schedule is identical in both countries, then without trade, Foreign s own
market equilibrium is at 1 and Home s equilibrium for cars is at 2 . When the two countries trade,
the relative world price converges to a point somewhere in between these two points at 3 .
We can see from the above illustration that trade leads to a convergence of world prices at point 3.
The Foreign economy will therefore export the good that has seen an increase in its relative price.
Now that we have seen how prices change under the assumptions of the HO model, I will now
explain how these changes have an impact on the distribution of income in countries open to
trade. A rise in the prices of cars increases the purchasing power of skilled labour (the abundant
factor) in the foreign country in terms of both goods. At the same time it decreases the purchasing
power of unskilled labour (the scarce factor) in terms of both goods. So by opening up to trade,
the owners of the abundant factor become better off, whilst owners of the scarce factor become
worse off.
Theoretically, opening to trade should increase the consumption possibilities for the whole
economy, allowing everyone to gain a higher utility. So why do some people become worse off,
post trade under the HO model? The underlying issue is that trade only changes relative prices of
factors, which has a direct effect on the relative earnings of those

organization to keep them focus in accomplishing the organization s mission. The organizations
chosen for this assignment are: The U.S. Army and the Federal Bureau of Prisons. These

in most cases, they are assigned to work on housing units with approximately three hundred

Cook Composites and Polymers Co. (CCP) were founded in 1990 and is a leading manufacturer of
gel coats, unsaturated polyester resins, coatings resins and emulsions. The company prides itself
most in producing high quality, custom designed gel coats. To produce high quality gel coats, CCP
utilizes styrene as a cleaning agent for their mixing vessels because styrene performs admirably in
reducing contamination. Currently, the company s rinse styrene is collected and shipped to cement
manufacturers as a source of fuel to fire their energy intensive cement kilns. Alternatively, the

By separating the entity from CCP, it would reduce the erosion of CCP s current brand which
has always been to focus on high performance and quality products. The $3 million investment
can be spent on creating this entity and equipping it with the technical expertise required to
further research on the concrete coating, and a separate sales force to develop a market for this
new product. The cost can eventually be off set by the estimated $5.07 million increase in profit,
as mentioned previously. The separate entity need not require a new factory. Instead, CCP and this
separate entity can share physical space and resources if needed. If all the risks as mentioned above
can be mitigated, CCP should proceed with the production of concrete coating as a by product
because it brings benefits to both the environment (through CO2 reduction) and CCP (through
increased profit).

Motor Neure Disease
What it affects
The French Neurologist Jean Martin Charcot first discovered motor neurone disease MND in
1874. Motor function is controlled by the upper motor neurones in the brain that descend to the
spinal cord, these neurones activate lower motor neurones. The lower motor neurones exit the
spinal cord and directly activate muscles. With no nerves to activate them, muscles gradually
weaken and waste. MND can affect a person s ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The
muscles first affected tend to be those in the hands, feet and mouth, dependent on which type of the
disease you are diagnosed with.
MND does not usually affect the senses sight, sound, touch or the bladder and bowel. Some people
may experience changes in thinking ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Cure, and therapies
The MND Association funds and promotes research that leads us to new understanding and
treatments, and brings us closer to a cure for MND. But unfortunately there are No known cure or
therapies. People living with and affected by MND tell us that progressing research and increasing
our understanding of MND to find effective treatments and a cure is the key priority for them.
If your doctor feels you may have a neurological problem he will refer you to your local neurology
department where you will be seen by a neurologist. You may then be sent for a series of diagnostic
tests, which are usually performed as outpatient tests. Occasionally you may be admitted to hospital
and the tests carried out while you are

Energy Is The Key Determinant Of Economic Development And...
1.1BACKGROUND Energy is the key determinant of economic development and prosperity of
the society s quality of life. The human civilization started with the historic revolutionary
invention of fuel energy which today has become a universal concern. Energy plays a vital role
in human development and welfare, since all the important economic activities of present
civilization are dependent on availability and level of consumption of energy (Rajgopal and
Mishra, 1994). Energy is considered to be the life line of an economy, the most vital instrument
of socio economic development and has been recognized as one of the most important strategic
commodities (Sahir and Qureshi, 2007). Energy is not only essential for the economy but its
supply is uncertain (Zaleski, 2001). Energy is a strategic source that influenced the outcome of
wars, fueled and strangled economic development and polluted as well as clean up the
environment. Energy in the layman s language is often synonymous with strength or force or
better still fuels. In technical terms, energy is that thing that can be used to produce work. Fuels
and materials that ignite at moderate temperature burn with comparative rapidity and are
obtainable in quantities of reasonable prices (William and Pinto, 2000.) Energy sources can also
be classified as renewable and non renewable forms. Renewable forms include; fuel, wood, solar
energy, biogas and crop residue, while non renewable forms are mainly petroleum products such as;

History Of Christianity
1. What is the point of origin?
Christianity is said to go back to Jerusalem. This is where it came from, during the first century.
It teaches you about the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the son of Virgin
Mary and is also said to be God s son. He was born in Judea and in the bible it says that he was
raised in the city of Nazareth.
2. How did the religion/philosophy spread?
Christianity spread in different ways but probably the most influential one was the early
missionary Paul. He was actually Jewish until he converted later on. He was also known as Saul of
Tarsus and even saw the persecution of the Christians. But then, he that god converted him, which
is when he began preaching. This is why he changed his name ... Show more content on

The cultural tradition of this is Abrahamic.
8. How is the religious leadership organized?
The organization is generally followers and spiritual mentors. The churches are related to certain
things being ranked above or below other things. There was also supervisors of churches that
consisted of elders. The supervisor of churches was talked into helping, relating, managing and
running a company. Which in turn, started a fight between religious people/regular people and
priests, bishops and deacons.
9. What are the basic beliefs of the religion/philosophy?
The belief in Christianity is that there is only one god, and that he is all powerful. Also that Jesus is
the son of God, and to believe in his internal life. Christianity teaches us is that Jesus is the Son of
God, he is also the second person in the Trinity, which is the God the Father, and the Son, and the
Holy Spirit. Also that the time he spent on earth, along with his crucifixion, resurrection, and him
going to heaven are all proof of how much God loves humanity and he has forgiveness for human
sins and that by having faith in Jesus, we can get salvation and eternal

The Pros of Being a Vegetarian
Pro Planet. Pro Animals. Pro Health: The Pros of Vegetarianism. Vegetarianism, is it just a fad, or
will it continue to cultivate and grow more mainstream than it is today? All signs are indicating
that it will, indeed, continue to grow. As many as 3.2% to 6% of the U.S. adult population is a
vegetarian (Parker 1). If one loves life, why not try vegetarianism? Having a vegetarian diet not
only saves animals, but also improves health and uses less of our planet s diminishing resources.
The earliest known practice of vegetarianism was in ancient Greece. Vegetarianism was encouraged
by the famous Greek philosophers, such as Pythagoras and Socrates. They stated that it was unclean
and unfair to the living animals around them (Driscoll... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Eating just one pound of meat emits the same amount of greenhouse gasses as driving an SUV for
30 miles (Knopper 6). While it may seem small, but many people can truly make an impact on Earth
in reducing wastes and various harmful effects. Perhaps the most associated reason by non
vegetarians are the rights of animals. It has been reported that the average American will consume
nineteen thousand animals in his or her lifetime. There are many absolutely grotesque and
gruesome stories of animals waiting to die, stories that I will not divulge here, but the magnitude of
it is worthy of researching on one s own time. The ethical treatment of animals a moral that many
vegetarians believe and follow. This is largely reason enough to become of vegetarian, but combined
with the many other reasons; vegetarianism is too hard to turn a blind eye towards. Vegetarianism
has become mainstream in many ways because of the many celebrities that practice it. Some of the
more contemporary ones include, Carrie Underwood, Paul McCartney, Demi Moore and Ellen
DeGeneres. Albert Einstein has been quoted as saying, Nothing will benefit human health and
increase chances for survival of life on earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet. Another
quote concerning vegetarianism that I personally found intriguing originates from Gandhi, It is
very significant that some of the most thoughtful and cultured men

How Tragic Patters Grow Individual Characters In Othello
Charlie Pena

14 November 2014
Othello: To Death Do Us In the play Othello by William Shakespeare we see tragic patters grow in
individual characters such as the main protagonist Othello. Othello is a character of high stature
who is destroyed by his surroundings, his own actions, and his fate. His destruction is essentially
precipitated by his own actions, as well as by the actions of the characters surrounding him. Othello
is an interesting character whose ability to utilize logic is greatly missing when he is led to believe
that his wife has cheated on him. The reasoning behind the false belief is that
Lago plotted the scenario of the handkerchief that was a gift to his Desdemona. The handkerchief
was important to Othello because the handkerchief was a gift that was full of sentiment and
meaning to Desdemona. Lago s wife. Amelia believed that the handkerchief might help her out with
her relationship with Lago, her husband. Lago was not physically intimate with Amelia. Lago liked
Desdemona and wanted her to himself. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

that he finds himself in. Lago wants to destroy Othello but Othello is unaware of this.
Unfortunately for Othello and his lack of insight into what has been transpiring sets him on a

reason for Othello s belief that his wife is cheating is based solely on the handkerchief which is

A Beautiful Day In My Life
Five more minutes, I groaned as I layed in my bed one cloudless Monday morning while my
mom annoyingly stood in the doorway of my room, rapidly clapping her hands to wake me up.
How late were you up last night? she questioned as she resiliently clapped. Applications and
essays, I told her as I rolled out of bed. Still working on Georgetown. Georgetown?! It s already
been three weeks! I know, I know. I m putting a lot of effort into this. After all, this is my life, is
it not? Although this is a lot of work... She looked at me as if I had some sort of careless attitude.
She was right though; I did. I got ready for school, went downstairs, and gazed out the window in
the living room to see the gorgeous sunlight shine through the skyscrapers. Beautiful view, I
remarked as my mom walked down the open riser staircase. The tall towers that were scattered
across Manhattan stood right in front of my window. I walked towards the kitchen and grabbed
an apple from the fridge. I m very glad you picked this one out of all the apartments we looked at.
Me too, Lucas, my mother assured as I cleaned the alluring apple under the running faucet on the
island, me too. I took a bite into the crisp golden apple. She asked, Ready for school? Yeah, I guess,
I responded. Adios. I sluggishly hauled my five ton backpack and pulled open the decorative
wooden door. Bye! *** I came home at 2:45 to an hour s worth of homework: finish an essay for

that the White racewas superior to any race, because nature dictated other races didn t have the

And before doing any business with third party the organisations always look for the PCI

Indigenous People In The 1500s
The indigenous have been mistreated by the Europeans since the 1500 s, from the cod fishing to
the fur trading. The indigenous were kidnapped by the Europeans, forced to change cultures, and
used for the European benefits. The indigenous life was not one of joy, but of sadness, and torture.
In the 1500 s, the Beothuk peoples encountered Europeans for the first time, when they first came to
fish cod, but they didn t establish a trading partnership. It wasn t until the early 1800 s when the
Europeans took action and captured Beothuk peoples, Shawnadithit, her mother, and her sister, and
took them back to Europe. Shawnadithit s mother and sister died in Europe from European
diseases. Later on, the Europeans took Shawnadithit back to her point of capture, she then caught
tuberculosis and died in 1829, she was the last known Beothuk person alive. If the Europeans hadn
t captured Shawnadithit and her family in the first place, the Beothuk peoples would still be alive
to this day, and they wouldn t have died from the European diseases that they were not immune to.

Rowling did achieve her goal because she made a great book and she managed to become a world
famous author. I really think that J.K. Rowling s writing is powerful and imaginative because she
uses strong and sophisticated words when she is writing also, she doesn t tell she shows. There are
so many strengths that include the vocabulary plus the mix of long and short sentences. I honestly
think that there are no weaknesses for the book because the usage of vocabulary and the idea of the
story itself. I thought that the book is way beyond interesting and moving I thought that it was
captivating, mind boggling and breathtaking. Yes, I would absolutely recommend this book to
others because it there are many different twists in the book.
After the reading the book, my impression was shocked and exhilarated because of the way the
story was wrapped up. I really want the people that haven t read Harry Potter and the Philosopher s
stone to read it!! They should read the book because it is way more than magic it taught me many
things like bravery, courage, perseverance, love and the most important one of all the power of
friendship. Also it really helps me escape the reality and enter the magical world of Harry Potter

Adidas Group Company Report An in depth analysis on the company s creation and expansion

moment for Adi s business as it was the first sponsorship for an African American, and Owens
would go on to win 4 gold medals, thus cementing the business with a good reputation. After the

The Racism Of African Americans
From the beginning African Americans started off as kings and queens of Africa. They ruled
their own people. Stories have been told how the rulers were tricked by English men or most
commonly known as the white man. This has been configured and no one really knows the true
story because we didn t exist then. African Americans were deprived from their mainland. Blacks
were then transported to the New America. In 1619, the first blacks were enslaved in Virginia.
They were used to do many jobs by owners because Caucasians couldn t handle being in the sun
for long periods of time but blacks were called the lazy ones. African Americans as a group were
discriminated, enslaved, and had no power.
There is two types of racism which is overt and subtle. Overt racism is more blatant and may take
the form of public statements about the inferiority of members of a racial or ethnic group. For
example, a racist chanting during a public event. Subtle racism, for example, suggesting an African
Americans athletes have natural abilities for a certain sports. African Americans get both types of
this racism. It goes from signs, flags, entertainment, etc. In entertainment we are nationally talked
about comedies, television shows, reality, etc. Blacks are portrayed as loud and it shows just a
couple individuals and we are discriminated by their actions. The things people see on television by
a particular race, people assume the entire race does that or contribute to their actions. Media is a

Company Complexity Of Ge And Mcvay
Company Complexity
According to Ge and McVay research study findings, business complexity is positively correlated
with firm disclosure of material weaknesses. They hypothesized that the firms with more
complicated transactions likely to have greater chance for a disconnect in the financial reporting
process, and thus a material weakness (Ge et al., 148). To measure business complexity, Ge and
McVay used the number of operating segments reported in the annual 10 K and the existence of
foreign currency exchange translation. Ge and McVay had two subgroups within their study: firms
that disclosed material weaknesses and a control group of 2003 Compustat firms who did not report
any material weaknesses.

In comparison to Doyle et al. study, Doyle and his colleagues hypothesized that the complexity of
the firm is a driver of internal control weaknesses (Doyle et al., 9). To measure the business
complexity of a firm, Doyle et al. used three measures to include the number of special purpose
entities, number of operating segments and the existence of foreign currency adjustment. The
findings of Doyle et al. were as predicted. The three complexity measures were higher in firms that
reported material weaknesses in comparison to the 2003 Compustat firms, who did not report any
material weaknesses. This indicates that company complexity is positively correlated to the
disclosure of material misstatements.
Company Profitability
In relation to the Ge and McVay research study findings, company profitability is negatively
correlated with firm disclosure of material weaknesses. Ge and McVay hypothesized that poorly
performing firms simply might not be able to adequately invest in proper internal controls (Ge et
al., 151). This would result in a greater chance of disclosing material weaknesses. In order to test
their hypothesis, they used two profitability metrics consisting of return on assets (ROA) and cash
from operations scaled by assets (CFO/A).
In reference to the Ge and McVay research findings, as presented in Figure B1 , material weakness
firms had lower ROA and CFO/A compared to the control group of 2003 Compustat firms

Optical Fiber Sensors Essay
Optical fiber sensors are very important devices to detect and monitor ionizing radiation in nuclear

instrumentation, and also in nuclear power facilities. Reliability of other conventional radiation
detectors in space and terrestrial application is much affected by electromagnetic interference and
exposure to fire and explosion potential hazards. However the functionality of optical fiberat

Ionizing radiation such as x ray, gamma, alpha, beta and neutron radiations, are not only harmful
to human health(Azzam et al. 2012) and environment(Mothersill Seymour 2014), but also can
damage the electronic devices(Wang et al. 2014). The source of these ionizing radiations are from
radioactive materials, x ray tubes, particle accelerators such as ion beams, nuclear weapons and
reactors, cosmic rays from space and from natural rocks and minerals. Exposure of extremely high
energy electromagnetic radiation such as x ray can lead to failure in silicon sensors(Klanner et al.

An Analysis Of Alexandre Dumas Davy De La Pailleterie
Alexandre Dumas Alexandre Dumas Davy de la Pailleterie, the author of The Three Musketeers,
was born in Villers Cotterets, France on July 24, 1802. His father, also named Alexandre
Dumas, was a general in Napoleon s army. When the author was only four years old, his father
died, and he and his two siblings were raised in poverty by his mother, Marie Louise Elizabeth
Davy de la Pailleterie. He went a private school for a short period of time before he started
teaching himself and becoming homeschooled. In 1823, he moved to Paris, where he was able to
obtain a comfortable job as a clerk for the Duke of Orleans. By this time, he had developed
passions for the ladies and for the theater (Alexandre Dumas). After being inspired by watching...

Almost all of his renowned books were collaborations with other writers, primarily Auguste Maquet.
Their works included The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo. These novels were
initially broken down into serials in magazines instead of complete books. Because of all his
successes with his novels, the 1840s were the apex of his finances, and he was able to build a
luxurious estate.
Although Dumas created some of the best known plays and novels in the world, he suffered
from many setbacks which ultimately led to his death. He created a controversial, yet popular
play in 1832 called The Tower of Nesle. The play depicted many of the vices of the preceding
king and was disliked by the new king, Louis Philippe. As a result, the author was exiled from
France for a short period of time. He suffered from bankruptcy from wasting too much money on
his estate and giving lavish gifts to women. He escaped his creditors by fleeing to Brussels.
After he returned to Paris, he worked tirelessly to pay his debts. He created two newspaper
companies, which survived about three years each. Then, he had to retreat to first son s home in
1870 because of the Prussian occupation of Paris in the Franco Prussian War. He died two years
later in poverty and declining spirits on December fifth at seventy years old (DISCovering Authors).

Descriptive Essay On Bohttac Garden
A long, cement paved path led me to a green well painted gate, which separated the tranquility of

Campus. On a mission to learn more about the Gardens and all it has to offer, I scheduled to meet

acres, of which thriving plantand animal species call their home. Knowing how enormous the
Gardens are, I cell phoned Pam instead of struggling to find my way through the several

dressed in a flowing white blouse, round black sunglasses, and stylish hiking sandals, an outfit
fit for the 100 degree weather. Underneath the canopy of the Sequoia Sempervirens, trees which
towered several feet high, we sat on a stone bench. From our point we overlooked a pond in
which three medium sized turtles rested on a small log which had fallen from a tree near by. As
the birds chirped soothing tunes above us and lizards zigzagged across the dirt path Pam began to
tell me about UCR s Botanic Gardens. Well, my first question is for you Pam.

Legal Hustler
My Life as a Legal Hustler That moment when you realize your mother will not give you any

The Conflict Of Good And Evil In The Duchess Of Malfi
First performed in 1613, The Duchess of Malfi is a timeless and tragic piece of literature which
explores both the conflict of good and evil within Jacobean society and the underlying corruption
which inhabited the courts and government of James I. Webster particularly uses the setting of
this Machiavellian Italian court to offer a direct political and social commentary on the abuse of
power within the era and the hypocrisy of the church. Heavily influenced by Webster s skeptical
and forward thinking views on religion, The Duchess of Malfi also explores the inequalities within
society through the Duchess and the misogynistic world in which she dwells. Characterisation and
symbolism plays a critical role in execution of expressing Webster s views; focusing on the bleak
idea of evilbeing an innate force within the world and good being something hidden.
Even within the first scene of act one, we can identify the characters awareness of the corruption in
the court and their responses to it. Having just returned from France, Antonio sheds light on this
matter by commenting on the French king s act of cleansing the court; giving the image of a good
court being like a common fountain which should flow pure silver drops in general . Essentially,
his dialogue seems to indicate his own personal motivation to cleanse the Italian court and restore
honesty and good within the country and its leaders. Ironically, as they speak of the flatt ring
sycophants which the French king

My Papa s Waltz Poem Analysis
Memory of an Abusive Father In discussions of My Papa s Waltz, one controversial issue has
been about a fond memory of his father . On the one hand, some readers argue The poem was
about abuse . On the other hand, many readers contend It was a somber poem that expresses a
son s love for his father, despite his father s alcoholism and abusive ways. Others even maintain
that the poem had everything to do with something positive and memorable. However, after
deconstructing the poem, it becomes increasingly clear that the poem is about kid who s dad is
an abusive alcoholic father and still seeks ways to admire him. While the subject of My Papa s
Waltz by Theodore Roethke has spurred passionate academic debate from professors, scholars, and
students alike, the imagery, syntax, and diction of the poem clearly support the interpretation that
Roethke writes My Papa s Waltz to reflect on a memory portraying the abusive nature alcoholic
father. It is evident that imagery has a significant impact in My Papa s Waltz to portray the
meaning and purpose of the poem. In the first stanza it states The whiskey on your breath could
make a small boy dizzy. This line creates imagery by using sensory language because it uses smell
to intensify the description of the father, furthermore supporting the idea about the poem being
about an abusive alcoholic father. The author uses imagery in the second stanza, My mother s
countenance wasn t able to unfrown itself. This

Essay On Homeless Veterans
All throughout the country, veterans come back into society struggling to continue living out their
lives. They have troubles adjusting back into civilian life. These former soldiers went out onto that
battlefield to fight for us, so the least we can do is show our support and help make their
adjustment back into civilian life as smooth as possible. I believe there are four main issues that are
most important in regards to the challenges returning veterans face: homelessness, suicide attempts,
a need for job training and jobs, and the fixing of the disability system. Many veterans coming back
from deployment struggle with homelessness. This issue is one of the most urgent problems our

deserve more than just a sidewalk or bench to live on. They risked their lives for us to have the
freedoms we have and stay protected from our enemies. They deserve more. Luckily, there is a
solution. One idea I think would be effective, and one that was stated in the article, To Cut Veteran
Homelessness, Cut the Red Tape, is a ... need to make federal housing assistance for homeless
veterans easier to access and use. Many veterans who try to apply for this housing assistance have
to add as much as a year to their housing process. This is unacceptable. This assistance should be
used to help and smooth their transition to affording a house, not make it longer, more hectic, and
more difficult. Let us not forget that while these veterans are waiting to be approved for a house,
they are still out on the streets homeless. The most successful veterans assistance program in the

Family And Family Leave
Did you know that only 12 percent of the American, private sector workforce receives paid family
leave? (Hakobyn 2017). In 1993, the United States created the Family and Medical Leave Act
(FMLA), which allows a full time employee 12 weeks per year of unpaid, protected leave for a
medical illness of a family member, serious personal health conditions, the birth of a child, or the
adoption of a child. An employee is only eligible for the leaveif they have worked at least 1,250
hours over the course of 12 months and if their employer has fifty or more employees located
within a 75 mile radius. The United States is one of three countries in the world to not offer
mandated parental leave.Within the United States, only California, Rhode Island, and New
Jersey offer mandated paid parental leave. While the FMLA has been beneficial, paid parental
leave gives better benefits economically to the mother and the business they work for, better
health for the child, and mental health benefits for the mother. Paid parental leave results in high
economic benefits for the mother. Studies find that paid maternity leave results in a higher
chance of a woman coming back to work after the birth of a child. According to a study co

Comparing Herodotus s The Sea And Essay
Herodotus is accused by Edward Said to be progenitor of Orientalism. Regardless of this
indictment, Said fails to observe the fundamental nature of Herodotus s division of the world.
Accordingly, he describes the world in the binary of East and West. I contend that this ideal is
unfounded in Herodotus s text, and instead, the known world of Herodotus was quartered. Hence,
by edification of Greekness and it following anomalies
Furthermore, these delusions are refuted by the agreement texts of Redfield s Herodotus the tourist
and Munson s Herodotus and ethnicity .
I
Before on embarking on Said misconceptions anent Herodotus, he avails himself of Euripides The
Bacchae and Aeschylus s The Persians, which he argues in The two aspects of the Orient that set it
off from the West in this pair of plays which are the catalysts of Orientalism, and accordingly,
neither are Herodotean texts. Nonetheless, I will refute the occasions he to greater degree implicitly
examines Herodotus.
II
In anticipation of the task in reviewing Said s misconception anent Herodotus, a close elucidation

were and who were not Greek, alongside anomalies who percolated this permeable division.
Redfield establishes the identity of the Greeks and that of non Greeks, specifically, by their culture,
denoted by three ethnological terms: diaita, ethea, and nomoi (98, Redfield). In their layering

President Obama And President Bush
President Barack Obama and President George W Bush are two extremely different politicians
with different political backgrounds and beliefs in different political ideologies. Between both two
term administrations some of their most scrutinized issues focused on the topic of foreign policy.
President Obama and Bush had to deal with continuous threats and problems arising from the
tumultuous political climate of the Middle East. The way each president saw it fit to eliminate the
problems was quite different as, President Bush often saw it more appropriate to use military force
in the intervention of these issues, where as President Obama is more likely to take a diplomatic
approach before resorting to military intervention. Regardless of these differences both presidents
are ultimately trying to achieve the same goal which is to achieve peace for the United States and
continue the American prosperity. The grand strategy of President of Bush foreign policy was to
promote the spread of American democratic principles throughout the rest of the world and liberate
those who are oppressed under non democratic regimes. In order to accomplish these foreign policy
goals the Bush administration needed to exert a maximum display of force which was often
achieved through military intervention. In the first term of President Bush administration one of
the most daunting tasks faced with the implementation of the foreign policy strategy was how
America could adequately address the growing

Whole Foods Market
(i) Environmental Analysis External Opportunities and Threats
The demographic, economic and the socio cultural segments would be the most relevant segments
to Whole Foods Market. These segments have a direct impact on the profitability, sustainability and
survivability of Whole Foods Market, and the organic food industry. The relevance of the
demographic segment stems from the fact that the age structure, income distribution and population
size are important factors which will influence the demand for organic products. The economic
segment is relevant, as an affluent population will continue to drive and sustain demand for organic
products. The socio cultural segment is another relevant segment, where attitudes about quality of

Given that the organic foods industry is a rapidly flourishing one with a huge potential for profits,
this would be an attractive industry to compete in. The high entry barriers, lack of substitute
products and the huge pool of potential consumers will certainly mean an immense potential of
opportunities in an industry that has just started to grow. Whole FoodsMarkets is in an excellent
position to capture these opportunities and this will be explained below.
(iv) Responses to Wal Mart s foray into the organic foods industry
Focus strategy on market penetration, using existing stores situated in prime locations
Whole Foods Markets has been able to reach out to its target markets through the prime
geographical locations of its stores. By further leveraging on these locations through the offering of
more customized organic products, Whole Foods will be able to penetrate the market deeper. Given
that fact that it has established the Whole Foods Brand in affluent communities, it will be in a
better position than Wal mart to widen its target market and to reach out to potential customers.
Increasing brand awareness, appeal and loyalty though a more aggressive advertising and public
relations campaign
By increasing brand awareness and image, the reputation of Whole Foods will be enhanced. This
would be critical in reaching out to potential customers, as well as retaining current customers. As

Part B Integrated Summary- Surgical Safety
PART B INTEGRATED SUMMARY SURGICAL SAFETY
The World Health Organisation (WHO) implemented the surgical safety checklist, to minimise the
discrepancies that occur as a result of improper identification of the patient (appendix O post 3).
Improper identification leads to wrong procedure, hence complication and possibly death (Position
Statement Surgical Safety 2015). The WHO checklist helps to improve surgical safety through
confirming safety practices are upheld and developing better communication within the
multidisciplinary team (Position Statement Surgical Safety 2015), thus providing optimum patient
care (ACORN Competency standard 5). Surgery related complication and mortality was reduce by
33%, through a study of eight hospitals from 2007 to 2008 (Position Statement Surgical Safety
2015). Therefore proving that compliance with safety measure were increased as a result of
endorsing the SSC, and obliges to competency standard 3.3. Through briefing and debriefing,
standard of care is improved, as the whole multidisciplinary team is made aware of the procedure,
and allows for optimal performance, which decrease surgery time, thus improve surgical safety
(ACORN Competency Standard 9). Furthermore it is important that each hospital adapt their own
policy in regards to the type of facility, such as in the occurrence of near miss episode (appendix
1,), institutions must refine their policy to provide the best care for the patients (Position Statement
Surgical Safety 2015).

The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year Essay
The Most Wonderful Time of The Year There is nothing like being in school in November and
knowing that winter break is one more month away. The temperature has dropped and we get to
wear snow boots and long jackets. Thanksgiving has come and families come together to celebrate
the joyful holidays. Families come together for the holidays to share love and joy with one another.
Children are more excited for Christmasjust to see what Santa has left for them. But once New
years has passed that means it s time to go back to school. The weather starts to warm up and the
trees come back to life and before you know it its summer break. Time for shorts, tank tops, flip
flops and hanging out by the pool with your friends enjoying the summer sun. Even though I like
being in both seasons, I prefer winter over summer. When it comes to winter the weather is colder
and unpredictable. It could snowone day, freeze overnight and become ice. You must watch out
while driving and walking because you might slide. But there is nothing like building a snowmanon
the school playground or even having a big snow ball fight with your friend. As a kid living in
Texas we didn t get much snow, but when we did we got the best out of it. We would go outside
for recess after lunch and make snow angels and throw snow at the teachers. We didn t have a
care in the world. Eventually, we would get cold and want to go in to warm up, but still loving
every bit of it. Our teachers didn t too much like this

It Is Easier To Create A Dystopian Society
A dystopia is a place full of contempt, agony and is in no way a mediocre society which we live

Overview Of The Superannuation Industry
Overview of the superannuation Industry The introduction of superannuation funds is to provide
retirement and death benefits to its members as the increase in Australia s ageing population has
become problematic. By encouraging individuals to save more throughout their working life and to
place those funds their retirement, the aim is to ensure a lesser proportion of public funds are
directed towards pensions and enhance the living standards of retired Australians (ALRC, 2013).
The fund is set up as an indefinitely continuing fund. Superannuation funds are managed by a

The Australian superannuation industry has also been reported to have increased in growth
ever since the year of 2009, up to 2015 the growth exceeds the annual gross domestic product.
The trends seen in recent year indicates that by lowering the cost, members benefit from greater
values, which leads to a lower fee being passed onto its members. The main objective of the
Australian superannuation industry is to come up with solutions that mainly focus the needs of
a retired individual. However, this objective is restricted as the industry is meeting the demands
of individual with limited capacity (KPMG,2015). Members of Australian Super have access to

invest in a diversified fund or focus their investments on a single Sector(RateCity, 2016).
Premixed options are diversified options that allow members to invest in a variety of asset
classes such as shares, property, infrastructure, fixed interest and cash. While DIY Mix options

Vallenato Music In Colombia
Colombia is home to one of the many unique form of musical genre called Vallenato that formed
around the second half of the 20th century. It initiated from a small valley region of northeastern
Colombia and the term vallenato itself literally translates to someone from the valley, ( valle and
nato ). It is described as the poor man s music, like the workers from the farmlands of Colombia.
The Mississippi and Magdalena River carry heavy origins of vallenato music. These rivers signify
the struggles and experiences of those living by the river in this country. Identified as a descendant
of Cumbia music, Vallenato music was influenced by romantic music and everyday work related
songs. In the beginning vallenato music was looked down upon as music only played by those of

(lecture hernandez, 2016) The accordion came from Europe, the Guacharaca came from
indigenous roots and the drum such as the caja originated from Africa, thus this genre is a mixture

with the instruments and it is used as a symbol of the northeastern valley of Colombia. At a young
age children in Colombia are taught to play instruments such as the caja or accordion. Vallenato s
roots have become of high value in Colombian villages that vallenato fans believe that they must
teach their own children for the traditions to continue. Vallenato music is characterized as having 4
different styles: puya, merengue, son and paseo. Puya and Merengue are played in a faster pace
while paseo and son are slower paced. Incorporating all these elements together, vallenato music,
though less polyrhythmic than cumbia, had a rural narrative style and a lively rhythm, which
appealed to costenos, people from La Costa (Netti,

Womanhood In Pop Culture
American media is a powerful shaping force in developing values and behavior. As an institution,
the media wields the power to form, reinforce and dismantle gender ideologies (Stillman 51) which
have long lasting and negative results. Both magazines and television reflect behaviors, such as
gossip and sexual behaviors, already present within American culture (Stillman 52, MacKay and
Covell 573), but the mediaalso creates new patterns of behavior that are then flooded into popular
culture. Some of the most common matters that the media creates and then floods into American
culture are: fashion trends, new phrases and other consumer oriented products. Because media

In the United States, many people s behavior and thoughts on daily life are based on what is
being presented in television, young women especially. The images and realities being
displayed on American television contradicts Biblical womanhood by targeting specific virtues
of Biblical women and highlighting opposite characteristics. A specific contradiction to Biblical
womanhood presented often on television is gossip. The Bible teaches that women are to be
reverent in behavior, not slanderers (Titus 2:3). When the Biblical teaching against gossip is
ignored by the media, the destructive behavior of gossip and slander spreads violently among
the women who watch television shows in which gossip is prevalent. Gossip and slander lead to
relational aggression among women, especially those who are bombarded with images of women
engaging in gossip and slander on television constantly (Goldberg, Smith Adcock and Dixon 379).
Because the Biblical teaching against gossip is unheeded, relational aggression among women
due to gossip and slander has become an accepted part of life. That is to say, hostile behavior
among women is now considered to be normal as a result of the relationally aggressive images
presented on television. Television

Outdoor adventure is a steel roller coaster for a smoother and more enjoyable ride. You will be
lifted up the steep side of the mountain by a chain lift. The beginning of the ride will have a
inertia jerk so be prepared. The drop at the beginning of the ride is 230 feet long with four
momentum rolls to make you the rider dizzy. The pitch black cave has a loop in it so you will
have a centripetal force acting on you in that moment. The whole idea of the cave is to get you
disoriented to show you the next thing to come. We do this by not only a loop but another
momentum roll. As you come out of the pitch black cave you will find yourself on a smooth,
large U turn. With enough momentum to get over the next three hills as you ride past campers.
The ride is then re lifted up by chain to another hill that is only 90 feet tall. At the end of the hill
you will go through another pitch black cave but at the end which is exactly the same as the
other. When you come out the ride is bolted into the cliff. You continue around the cliff side near
and animatronic climber. Then into another cave with diamonds and gold. The gold and diamonds
are fake of course but they are always fun. You will travel along a real lake side and back into the

Should Driving Be Strict Driving Essay
Have you ever wondered what s one of cause of death or teens? Land transport accident is one of
the five leading causes of death for teens aged 16 19. Teens today make up 13% of the
population, but 14% of that 13% is at risk of suffering a car crash that has resulted in death or
injuries. With all the research from teen drivingorganizations people have gathered on this topic,
teens should have a stricter limit on driving by increasing the age limit and reinforcing rules.
Imagine your son, daughter, or relative, or was in the hospital or just got into the hospital due to
driving not just texting but simply reckless driving. How would you feel, how could you move
on. A story on the Chicago Tribune tells about a young teenager, 15, named Taylor Darveau.
Taylor was with an older friend, Samantha goode, 16, at the time of this devastating occurrence,
Goode had an unknown history with car racing with fellow teens. With that knowledge it
resulted in a crash that cost the life of a young bright girl, Taylor Darveau.. If teens like
Samantha weren t driving on the road with an unrelieved driving past due to a stricter limit then
we would still have Taylor and an average of 9 more teens aged 15 20 lives saved daily. According

We should learn to accept people for who they are, what they believe in, their cultures and lifestyle
choices. We should also accept individuals as unique persons by treating them with respect and
dignity; by identifying their needs and preferences. Without these, it may lead to labelling or name
calling and derogatory remarks. Victims of domestic violencein refugee and ethno cultural
communities which are not mainstream, often face additional challenges and barriers in escaping
the domestic violence they are experiencing. Religion plays a vital role in that factor. Everybody

  • 2. Nasdaq Financial Variable The financial variable I chose was, the NASDAQ Composite (IXIC). A stock market index that is comprised of common stocks and similar securities. The price of NASDAQ from 1971 to present day has grown significantly over time. Opening at just over a hundred dollars, the NASDAQ s price now hovers around six thousand. Even though this data is collected on a daily basis, I used a quarterly observation date of prices to show how over multiple decades the price of the NASDAQ rose and fell. Using a daily observation is not necessary because the quarterly prices, can reflect how each quarter did every day through that one quarter. The NASDAQ ended up being a good financial variable because how the data is measured on average at the end of the period rather than over the period. From the start of the NASDAQ it grew in small increments until 1992 when it skyrocketed over two thousand dollars in just six years. Although its growth did not stay consistent after this. The NASDAQ faced major hits in the early 2000 s as well as in 2008. Both of these events can be associated with extreme events that happened in the past. In the early... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The NASDAQ today is one of the most popular traded stock indexes today. Many people that involve themselves in the financial system, use the NASDAQ as a model to see how well the market as a whole is doing. Another reason for using the NASDAQ is to see how much it can be impacted by events such as the financial crisis in 2008 or even 9/11. Knowing that these events have great influence on the market can help further inform those who involve themselves in the financial system, for down the road in life. Having a good sense how the market will react to certain events, and a well thought out plan that will not allow losses to amount to the extremes that they once did. Analyzing the NASDAQ Composite, can be a great reflection for how strong the U.S. economy ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Diction And Images In Bullhead By Leigh Allison Wilson Love and the memory could be last forever, but sometimes it is not good to hold on to the past. In the story Bullhead , Leigh Allison Wilson uses diction and images to portray the theme of holding to the past could hurt the present. The story is told from the perspective of the daughter which is the narrator. By using diction and images, Wilson portrays the mother s careless to her family and deeply holding on to the past. The narrator describes the story as simple , perhaps because the mother tells it much timeto the daughter even though she already has a family of her own (Wilson 1). The mother seems careless about her daughter where she looks right through her as though the daughter hadn t been born (Wilson 1). Wilson also uses diction ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Common Strategies Of Explaining Human Behavior Common strategies of NLP The idea of NLP is heavily based on the ideas of strategy, as it sees your internal and external behaviour uses processing strategies for each behaviour and response. The system uses different ideas of strategies as part of explaining human behaviour, as well as a way to change it. The most common strategies of NLP are dealt in short detail below. There are further strategies used and some of the strategies and the way they are applied depend on the context of use. Modelling The basis of the NLP theory was built around modelling. Modelling is considered as a means of finding out about a person s belief system, as well as physiology. It is also used in terms of understanding the person s mental strategies, which in turn influence the other two aspects of thinking and behaviour. Modelling essentially tried to find the strategies or mental behaviour patterns the person uses for doing things. An example of modelling could be about how a person learns a new skill. In order to learn to speak Spanish, the person would need to model three things. First, to learn the vocabulary. This simply means understanding that gato means cat, for instance. Then the person would need to learn syntax. This means the ability to put these words together in order to make a sentence. For example, the ability to say Me llamo John , My name is John . Finally, the third part of modelling would be about understanding the mouth movements. Different languages have a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Explain the mechanism referred to in the above statement... Trade between advanced countries that are abundant in capital and skill and NIEs (Newly Industrialising Economies) with their abundant supply of unskilled labour was raising the wages of highly skilled workers and lowering the wages of less skilled workers in the skill and capital abundant countries (Krugman, Obstfeld and Melitz). Explain the mechanism referred to in the above statement using the Heckscher Ohlin model. The Heckscher Ohlin model is extremely useful when illustrating how endowments of a particular resource can influence trade between economies. The model shows us how comparative advantage is explained somewhat by the relative abundance of certain resources, such as land, labour or capital. The Heckscher Ohlin (HO) ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Assuming the demand schedule is identical in both countries, then without trade, Foreign s own market equilibrium is at 1 and Home s equilibrium for cars is at 2 . When the two countries trade, the relative world price converges to a point somewhere in between these two points at 3 . We can see from the above illustration that trade leads to a convergence of world prices at point 3. The Foreign economy will therefore export the good that has seen an increase in its relative price. Now that we have seen how prices change under the assumptions of the HO model, I will now explain how these changes have an impact on the distribution of income in countries open to trade. A rise in the prices of cars increases the purchasing power of skilled labour (the abundant factor) in the foreign country in terms of both goods. At the same time it decreases the purchasing power of unskilled labour (the scarce factor) in terms of both goods. So by opening up to trade, the owners of the abundant factor become better off, whilst owners of the scarce factor become worse off. Theoretically, opening to trade should increase the consumption possibilities for the whole economy, allowing everyone to gain a higher utility. So why do some people become worse off, post trade under the HO model? The underlying issue is that trade only changes relative prices of factors, which has a direct effect on the relative earnings of those ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Army, spending enormous amount of time away from home, risking their lives every time they go out on a mission and on top of that they are underpaid for what they do. On the other hand, we have members of the Federal Bureau of Prisons, who work long shifts and are well outnumbered in most cases, they are assigned to work on housing units with approximately three hundred inmates, some of them who are convicted killers and others who are very violent individuals. U.S. Army personnel and members of the Federal Bureau of prisons are often viewed as a role model, because they are held accountable to higher standards, and the nature of their job, since you required specialized training to perform these duties; even though, these are stressful jobs individuals still volunteer to perform these duties, just like a servant leadership would, they place other needs before ... (CCP) were founded in 1990 and is a leading manufacturer of gel coats, unsaturated polyester resins, coatings resins and emulsions. The company prides itself most in producing high quality, custom designed gel coats. To produce high quality gel coats, CCP utilizes styrene as a cleaning agent for their mixing vessels because styrene performs admirably in reducing contamination. Currently, the company s rinse styrene is collected and shipped to cement manufacturers as a source of fuel to fire their energy intensive cement kilns. Alternatively, the company can opt for a waste ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... By separating the entity from CCP, it would reduce the erosion of CCP s current brand which has always been to focus on high performance and quality products. The $3 million investment can be spent on creating this entity and equipping it with the technical expertise required to further research on the concrete coating, and a separate sales force to develop a market for this new product. The cost can eventually be off set by the estimated $5.07 million increase in profit, as mentioned previously. The separate entity need not require a new factory. Instead, CCP and this separate entity can share physical space and resources if needed. If all the risks as mentioned above can be mitigated, CCP should proceed with the production of concrete coating as a by product because it brings benefits to both the environment (through CO2 reduction) and CCP (through increased profit). • 9. Motor Neure Disease What it affects The French Neurologist Jean Martin Charcot first discovered motor neurone disease MND in 1874. Motor function is controlled by the upper motor neurones in the brain that descend to the spinal cord, these neurones activate lower motor neurones. The lower motor neurones exit the spinal cord and directly activate muscles. With no nerves to activate them, muscles gradually weaken and waste. MND can affect a person s ability to walk, speak, swallow and breathe. The muscles first affected tend to be those in the hands, feet and mouth, dependent on which type of the disease you are diagnosed with. Energy plays a vital role in human development and welfare, since all the important economic activities of present civilization are dependent on availability and level of consumption of energy (Rajgopal and Mishra, 1994). Energy is considered to be the life line of an economy, the most vital instrument of socio economic development and has been recognized as one of the most important strategic commodities (Sahir and Qureshi, 2007). Energy is not only essential for the economy but its supply is uncertain (Zaleski, 2001). Energy is a strategic source that influenced the outcome of wars, fueled and strangled economic development and polluted as well as clean up the environment. Energy in the layman s language is often synonymous with strength or force or better still fuels. In technical terms, energy is that thing that can be used to produce work. Fuels and materials that ignite at moderate temperature burn with comparative rapidity and are obtainable in quantities of reasonable prices (William and Pinto, 2000.) Energy sources can also be classified as renewable and non renewable forms. Renewable forms include; fuel, wood, solar energy, biogas and crop residue, while non renewable forms are mainly petroleum products such as; ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

As many as 3.2% to 6% of the U.S. adult population is a vegetarian (Parker 1). If one loves life, why not try vegetarianism? His destruction is essentially precipitated by his own actions, as well as by the actions of the characters surrounding him. In addition, its other characteristic of having low attenuation losses provides a wide bandwidth for long distance wireless communication so that the exposure of radiation to workers can be avoided during radiation detection and monitoring operation. Ionizing radiation such as x ray, gamma, alpha, beta and neutron radiations, are not only harmful to human health(Azzam et al. 2012) and environment(Mothersill Seymour 2014), but also can damage the electronic devices(Wang et al. 2014). The source of these ionizing radiations are from radioactive materials, x ray tubes, particle accelerators such as ion beams, nuclear weapons and reactors, cosmic rays from space and from natural rocks and minerals. Exposure of extremely high energy electromagnetic radiation such as x ray can lead to failure in silicon sensors(Klanner et al. 2013). The increasing radiation induced attenuation can lead to permanent damage of optical fiber(KovaДЌeviД‡ et al. 2013). So there is a need to develop better sensors with good radiation resistance such as Ge doped optical fiber sensors in radiant environment. An Analysis Of Alexandre Dumas Davy De La Pailleterie Alexandre Dumas Alexandre Dumas Davy de la Pailleterie, the author of The Three Musketeers, was born in Villers Cotterets, France on July 24, 1802. His father, also named Alexandre Dumas, was a general in Napoleon s army. When the author was only four years old, his father died, and he and his two siblings were raised in poverty by his mother, Marie Louise Elizabeth Davy de la Pailleterie. He went a private school for a short period of time before he started teaching himself and becoming homeschooled. In 1823, he moved to Paris, where he was able to obtain a comfortable job as a clerk for the Duke of Orleans. Almost all of his renowned books were collaborations with other writers, primarily Auguste Maquet. Their works included The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo. These novels were initially broken down into serials in magazines instead of complete books. Because of all his successes with his novels, the 1840s were the apex of his finances, and he was able to build a luxurious estate. Although Dumas created some of the best known plays and novels in the world, he suffered from many setbacks which ultimately led to his death. He created a controversial, yet popular play in 1832 called The Tower of Nesle. The play depicted many of the vices of the preceding king and was disliked by the new king, Louis Philippe. As a result, the author was exiled from France for a short period of time. He suffered from bankruptcy from wasting too much money on his estate and giving lavish gifts to women. He escaped his creditors by fleeing to Brussels. After he returned to Paris, he worked tirelessly to pay his debts. He created two newspaper companies, which survived about three years each. Then, he had to retreat to first son s home in 1870 because of the Prussian occupation of Paris in the Franco Prussian War. He died two years later in poverty and declining spirits on December fifth at seventy years old (DISCovering Authors). Critical Analysis Although The Three Musketeers is regarded as of the ... • 32. Descriptive Essay On Bohttac Garden A long, cement paved path led me to a green well painted gate, which separated the tranquility of the Botanic Gardens, which lay on the east side of the rowdy University of California Riverside Campus. On a mission to learn more about the Gardens and all it has to offer, I scheduled to meet up with Pam Ferre, an Administrative Assistant, who knew a significant amount of information about the Gardens. We agreed to meet up at Schneider House, but as I walked through I lost myself in the beauty that nature here had to offer causing me to lose track of the asphalt road that should have directed me to our meet up destination. The UCR Botanic Gardens is composed of 40 acres, of which thriving plantand animal species call their home. Knowing how enormous the Gardens are, I cell phoned Pam instead of struggling to find my way through the several footpaths. Finally, we gathered at the turtle pond where Pam approached me with a smile, dressed in a flowing white blouse, round black sunglasses, and stylish hiking sandals, an outfit fit for the 100 degree weather. Underneath the canopy of the Sequoia Sempervirens, trees which towered several feet high, we sat on a stone bench. From our point we overlooked a pond in which three medium sized turtles rested on a small log which had fallen from a tree near by. As the birds chirped soothing tunes above us and lizards zigzagged across the dirt path Pam began to tell me about UCR s Botanic Gardens. Well, my first question is for you Pam. ... • 34. The Conflict Of Good And Evil In The Duchess Of Malfi First performed in 1613, The Duchess of Malfi is a timeless and tragic piece of literature which explores both the conflict of good and evil within Jacobean society and the underlying corruption which inhabited the courts and government of James I. Webster particularly uses the setting of this Machiavellian Italian court to offer a direct political and social commentary on the abuse of power within the era and the hypocrisy of the church. Heavily influenced by Webster s skeptical and forward thinking views on religion, The Duchess of Malfi also explores the inequalities within society through the Duchess and the misogynistic world in which she dwells. Characterisation and symbolism plays a critical role in execution of expressing Webster s views; focusing on the bleak idea of evilbeing an innate force within the world and good being something hidden. Even within the first scene of act one, we can identify the characters awareness of the corruption in the court and their responses to it. Having just returned from France, Antonio sheds light on this matter by commenting on the French king s act of cleansing the court; giving the image of a good court being like a common fountain which should flow pure silver drops in general . Essentially, his dialogue seems to indicate his own personal motivation to cleanse the Italian court and restore honesty and good within the country and its leaders. On the one hand, some readers argue The poem was about abuse . On the other hand, many readers contend It was a somber poem that expresses a son s love for his father, despite his father s alcoholism and abusive ways. Others even maintain that the poem had everything to do with something positive and memorable. However, after deconstructing the poem, it becomes increasingly clear that the poem is about kid who s dad is an abusive alcoholic father and still seeks ways to admire him. While the subject of My Papa s Waltz by Theodore Roethke has spurred passionate academic debate from professors, scholars, and students alike, the imagery, syntax, and diction of the poem clearly support the interpretation that Roethke writes My Papa s Waltz to reflect on a memory portraying the abusive nature alcoholic father. It is evident that imagery has a significant impact in My Papa s Waltz to portray the meaning and purpose of the poem. In the first stanza it states The whiskey on your breath could make a small boy dizzy. This line creates imagery by using sensory language because it uses smell to intensify the description of the father, furthermore supporting the idea about the poem being about an abusive alcoholic father. One idea I think would be effective, and one that was stated in the article, To Cut Veteran Homelessness, Cut the Red Tape, is a ... need to make federal housing assistance for homeless veterans easier to access and use. Many veterans who try to apply for this housing assistance have to add as much as a year to their housing process. This is unacceptable. The images and realities being displayed on American television contradicts Biblical womanhood by targeting specific virtues of Biblical women and highlighting opposite characteristics. A specific contradiction to Biblical womanhood presented often on television is gossip. The Bible teaches that women are to be reverent in behavior, not slanderers (Titus 2:3). When the Biblical teaching against gossip is ignored by the media, the destructive behavior of gossip and slander spreads violently among the women who watch television shows in which gossip is prevalent. That is to say, hostile behavior among women is now considered to be normal as a result of the relationally aggressive images presented on television. Television ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The beginning of the ride will have a inertia jerk so be prepared. The drop at the beginning of the ride is 230 feet long with four momentum rolls to make you the rider dizzy. The pitch black cave has a loop in it so you will have a centripetal force acting on you in that moment. The whole idea of the cave is to get you disoriented to show you the next thing to come. We do this by not only a loop but another momentum roll. As you come out of the pitch black cave you will find yourself on a smooth, large U turn. With enough momentum to get over the next three hills as you ride past campers. The ride is then re lifted up by chain to another hill that is only 90 feet tall. At the end of the hill you will go through another pitch black cave but at the end which is exactly the same as the other. When you come out the ride is bolted into the cliff. You continue around the cliff side near and animatronic climber. Then into another cave with diamonds and gold. The gold and diamonds are fake of course but they are always fun.
