Hitler s Rise To Power During The Holocaust
In what way did Hitler rise to power during the Holocaust? During his rise to power Hitler joined the Nazis to
be the main leader so that he can have full power over the Jews. Hitler s early life affected his decision in being
control on the jews and his vision of creating a perfect Aryan race in Germany. Hitler used nationalism and anti
semitism to rise to power
Adolf Hitler was born on April 20 1889. He was born in a very modest Austrian town. While Hitler was in
school, he exhibited good intelligence and was favored by his classmates . Also he was known for his
leadership. While in secondary school, it was more of a competition for Hitler so school work became more of
a problem for him to the point where he stopped trying as a result. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the First World war there were about nine million soldiers dead and exactly 21 million soldiers injured.
Germany, Russia , Austria Hungary, France and Great Britain individually lost approximately a million lives.
Five million citizens deceased from lots of different diseases, as well starvation and exposure. The German
people felt beaten because they lost. The treaty of Versailles forced germany to give up some of its land in
Europe and all of its colonies overseas. It had to pay a heavy fine to cover the costs of the war. The German
army and navy were greatly reduced in size. The Germans protested but they had no choice. (Abraham 417)

An Analysis Of Turner s Expectation Of Privacy
Although actions in the public are considered to have no reasonable expectation of privacy, we forget that a
home is considered everything including the curtilage that surrounds the home. Therefore we need to take into
consideration that the backyard and patio is essentially attached to the home and can be considered to be apart
of the curtilage associated with the home. Therefore, by utilizing the R.E.P. two fold requirement where the
first fold is: associated with Turner having a reasonable expectation of privacy, there is an agreeing opinion.
However, the second fold where instead of concluding that society does not recognize Turner s expectation of
privacy as unreasonable, it is in fact according to societies standards, reasonable. Due

Fire In Zoroastrianism
A similar concept of light versus darkness and good versus evil is also present in other religions of the region.
In Hinduism, for instance, the festival of Diwali is a symbolic representation of the victory of the light or good
over the darkness or evil . The concept of light and fire stand in the centre of this festival, in which people
symbolically celebrate the victory of the light over the darkness by lighting diva , little oil lamp, inside homes
and firecrackers outside homes. Thus, the concept of fire , light or sun in Zoroastrianism, or in the religion of
the Āzar people, neither represent nor does it substitute God. Rather they symbolically demonstrate the
direction of prayer and remind believers of the divine guidance and the trap of the destructive spirit of
Ahrīman. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Again, such beliefs have symbolic significance. It was to remind people that fire in itself is not sacred, but the
angelic spirit, or an extension of the divine authority that stands behind it, is sacred. In other words, it is to
remind people that fire itself is not the end goal, as the Kaʿba is not the end goal in itself. Rather the divine
spirit that stands behind this symbolic object is important and sacred. As shall be discussed further in this
section, the Āzaras, the Azaras or the Hazaras of Afghanistan still maintain glimpses of this symbolic
signification, the latent thought that lay deep behind the concept of fire, and has been repressed over a
millennium period of time by the dominance of Islamic beliefs and

The Pros And Cons Of Grizzly Bears
The trophy hunting of at risk grizzly bears is a controversial topic in Canada. It is part of the Canadian cultural
inheritance. Hunting grizzly bears are considered to be a legitimate recreational activity in some parts of
Canada. They inhabit in the forest and near the costal line. The numbers of bear reached tens of thousands
before, but because they are fierce and threatening human beings, they are being hunted and killed. Also, the
low mortality rate of grizzly means low population, but they play a critical role as a predator in the ecosystem.
The problem is over hunting and industrialization will cause extinction of this rare species, and lead to
disharmony between the government and First Nations. I mainly support the ban of grizzly ... Show more

Wireless Communication And Control System
WIRELESS COMMUNICATION WITH BCI
Abstract
A Brain Computer Interface is a communication and control system in which human mind can be translated to
the external world without the help of the normal output pathways of muscles and nerves. Each time we do
something or think about doing something, our brain generates distinct signals. These signals corresponding to
an activity, has a pattern. Finding this pattern is a challenging job and is the main task of any Brain Computer
Interface. A BCI acquires these signals from the brain of a user in the form of Electroencephalography (EEG).
Then after pre processing, feature extraction and classification, it translates these signals into meaningful
commands or instructions to drive a device or application. Electroencephalography is used to record electrical
fields that represent the brain signals and are generated due to the local brain function.
Most of the applications today are only used in computers and just focus on the realization of direction
strategies. To meet the potential increasing user s needs and explore interacting processes with people s mental
states, we design an application that maps signals from the human brain and performs operations like calling,
messaging, gaming and photography. The brain signals are mapped and stored to create different commands
using a series of refined signal processing procedures. These commands are declared and defined to perform
the above mentioned operations like calling, messaging,

15.1.8 CIA Demonstration: Weighing on an Analytical Balance
After you watch the above video, answer the questions below in sufficient detail:
(a) (2 pts) What are the features of an electronic balance? Include all of those discussed in the video.
Answer: There were two features of an electronic balance discussed in this video. First there is the electronic
read out which makes the measurement very accurate and the tare feature which can reset the balance to zero
when something such as a container is still on the balance (Yee, n.d., Weighing...).

How and why does it work? Be clear and specific.
Answer: Distillation is a method for separating a liquid from a solid or from another liquid in which the liquid
is boiled off and then recondensed (Yee, n.d., Distilliation). It works because the substance you are looking to
distill is boiled off recondensed and separated. It can be used to purify liquids from solids or from other liquids
(Yee, n.d., Distillation).
(b) (2 pts) Describe the apparatus and setup for a distillation. Include all components.
Answer: The distillation apparatus consists of a round bottom flask connected through an adapter to a
condenser, which is connected through another adapter to a second round bottom flask (Yee, n.d., Distillation).
There is a thermometer connected through the thermometer adapter at the top (Yee, n.d., Distillation). There is
also a vacuum adapter and a heating mantle. The heating mantle is a coil which heats through electrical
resistance (Yee, n.d., Distillation). You use cold water and make sure that it goes in through the bottom and out
through the top (Yee, n.d., Distillation).
(c) (2 pts) Imagine that you wanted to perform a distillation at your own home (remember, distillation as a
technique is not illegal it is only illegal if you use it to produce alcohol), but you did not have the fancy lab
equipment that you saw in the video. How could you do it? How could you improvise in terms of equipment?

Essay On The Development Of The Albertan Oil Sands
Canada s oil sands are among the largest oil reserves in the word. This is evident from the fact that Canada is
ranked third for the largest oil reserve in the world, after Venezuela and Saudi Arabia ( Oil Sands, n.d.). Oil
sand , is a naturally occurring mixture of sand, clay, water and bitumen (Gosselin et al., 2010). It is a very
dense and extremely viscous oil that must be treated before it can be used to produce usable fuels such as
gasoline and diesel (Gosselin et al., 2010). In North America, high oil prices, growing demand, and diminishing
oil reserves results in greater interest to mine local oil reserves. Increased production of oil generates
significant economic benefits but, at the same time, the development of the oil sands ... Show more content on

This will in turn, result in a greater greenhouse gas effect and contribute significantly more to climate change.
Canada will not be able to meet green emission standards and will rather be contributing more to global climate
change than trying to reduce it.
Along with greenhouse gases, other pollutants are released into the air during oil sands operations. These
pollutants are harmful to ambient air quality and human health. In the Alberta oil sands, regional air quality is
mainly impacted by the production of nitrogen dioxide and nitric oxide (NOx gases) ( Air Emissions, 2015).
NOx gases are primarily produced by fuel combustion in vehicles and react to form smog and acid rain (NOx
gases in diesel car, 2015). Consequently, these gases project a concern to the workers present that are mining
the oil sands. This is because NOx gases overtime can lead to reduced lung function and breathing problems
(NOx gases in diesel car, 2015). Finally, these gases pose a threat to local wildlife and vegetation since they
react to form acid rain in the atmosphere. The production of acid rain is harmful for the ecosystems present.
This is especially true for aquatic ecosystems and overtime will lead to death of local wildlife. To conclude, the
development of the oil sands is unfavorable due to the production of harmful gases. The development impacts
global climate negatively due to increased greenhouse gas

The Starry Night By Vincent Van Gogh
This paper attempts to present a discussion of Vincent van Gogh s painting the Starry Night, in terms of his art
style that lead people to interpret a different way of reality and the impact of that style subsequently on modern
day artistic culture. Also, van Gogh s late style that inherit his religious belief, his experience and his
knowledge of astrology is also worth to mention that, as exhibited in this painting, had not only a direct artistic
impact that inspire other artist to imitate it, but it also exercised an indirect way, which we might be called it as
an ideological inspiration.
The Starry Night was painted by Vincent van Gogh during his stay in hospital window at Saint Rémy in 1889,
one year before his death. Although the canvas painting with oil on held out multiple interpretations, van Gogh
s apparent theme is his communication of the vastness in his artwork. The painting depicts a small town,
verified as the view of van Gogh from his hospital window, which was under a blue and vast dark night sky
that is filled with luminous stars. There are many interpretations of Starry Night which is came from van Gogh
s influences in his poetry, personal religious conflict, astronomy, depression, all of which convey van Gogh s
representation in creating an unique lucius view of reality.
From Echoes of Walt Whitman s Bare Bosom D Night in Vincent van Gogh s Starry Night , Lewis M. Layman

Pacman Research Paper
Pacman is a game in which you are a yellow circle character called Pacman, you are trying to eat all of the little
white dots to add to your score as well as eating any other bonus to increase your score. However, there are a
number of ghosts which are trying to stop you, if you run into them you die and lose a life, once you are out of
lives you lose and will have to start from the beginning. There are also big dots which will give you a
temporary power up when you consume them, this power up makes the ghosts scared of you and try to run
away, during this time you are also able to eat them to get even more score. Once you have eaten all of the dots
you clear the level and have won the game. This game is an arcade game and so has bright colours and is not
meant to look realistic, this also applies to the sound, which has an 8 bit feel to it making the game come to life
and making the player feel more connected to it. I have kept this in mind when making changes to my game as

base number of ghosts from 4 to 8 and increased the map size, also removing the tunnels from the side. I have
done this as I wanted to make a large map however found that it would be too easy if the player could jump

Comparing Breathless And The Motorcycle Diaries
Breathless and The Motorcycle Diaries Like the ancient oral and literary traditions of travel tales to which it is
related, the road film speaks to the human predilection for travel, to our fascination with vehicles of
locomotion, our visions of freedom, the pleasures of adventure, the promise of self realization, the experience
of life as a journey (Location 8051 of 13125). When analyzing the foreign movie genre, road movie, there are
two that stand aloft. Breathless is a movie about a robber gone soft for love; The Motorcycle Diaries, a journey

Abstract
Background: Low back pain patients with associated leg pain symptoms generally have a poorer prognostic
outcome compared to those with localised low back pain. Therefore, this study will investigate the difference in
clinical outcomes associated with low back pain patients with and without self reported leg pain symptoms.
This study will also address if additional co factors such as age, sex, and occupation have an effect on the
severity of these clinical outcomes. The clinical outcomes which will be considered are pain rating, interference
with active daily living (ADL) rating, anxiety rating, depression rating and control of pain rating.
Methods: This retrospective cohort study compares adult low back pain patients with localised pain (n = 58) to
low back pain patients with self reported leg pain symptoms (n = 54) who presented for chiropractic treatment.
Patients completed the WIOC patient outcomes questionnaire as baseline which consisted of the Bournemouth
Questionnaire, recording responses from an 11 point numerical scale (NRS). Demographic information was
also collected. Differences between the two groups using the data collected from this questionnaire were
calculated using the Mann Whitney U test. Differences between age and sex were also calculated using the test
used.

Rhetorical Analysis of Building a Bridge Between Engineering and the Humanities
On February 14, 2016, the Chronicle of Higher Education published an essay by Julio M. Ottino and Gary Saul
Morson entitled Building a Bridge Between Engineering and the Humanities. Ottino and Morson discuss the
importance of the fields of engineering and the humanities. The purpose of the essay is to show how
engineering and the humanities are linked together and are needed simultaneously. Even though, Morson and
Ottino adopt a weak informal tone in the middle of their argument; the authors end their argument strong by
successfully using ethos and logos to appeal to their audience, college and university faculty and
administrators.
Ottino and Morson begin with an introduction of the topic of engineering and humanities. The authors use a
jovial tone to portray the current engineering field as booming and an essential part of innovation. They use the
appeal of logos to convey the current issues with humanities programs by suggesting, The humanities, by
contrast, are in peril, with fewer students each year. Morson and Ottino show the current state of both the
engineering and humanities fields in order to emanate a sense of urgency to the reader. This introduction shows
that there is a need to fix the humanities field because it is slowly decreasing to nothing. Most college and
university faculty know the current state of the humanities field. However, Ottino and Morson start their

Individuals With Learning Disabilities Are All Unique
Individuals with learning disabilities are all unique. A learning disability, to me, is a condition that changes the
way an individual learns and impacts how they are able to express the knowledge they have learned. Learning
disabilities are separate from physical limitations because, according to IDEA 04, learning disabilities impact
an individual s ability to listen, think, speak, read, write, spell, or do mathematical calculations. An individual
with a learning disability most often does not appear at the surface to look different from their peers, but they
require additional supports, strategies and instruction in order to be a successful student. I believe their brain is
hardwired to learn differently from the typical student, and it is my job, as the special education teacher, to find
out how the student learns best and provide them with the tools they need.
In addition to knowing how students with learning disabilities learn differently, I also know they have to work
harder than the average student. I have learned that my students need to establish positive relationships with
their teacher. These individuals need to know there is someone who believes in them who is also able to
motivate them to continue to give their best each and every day. They may also need frequent breaks and a
change of pace in instruction and lessons to keep maintain their attention and effort. Appropriate
accommodations and sometimes modifications are also important for our learning

Space Shuttle Challenger Explosion Summary
The case study I chose to analyze was the Space Shuttle Challenger Explosion, by Ronald C. Kramer. Kramer,
discussed the four main components that led to the catastrophic explosion. These components included the
societal context, the final flaw, the persons behind the final decision to launch, and lastly the failure of social
control mechanisms. Unlike popular belief, there was more than just one factor that led to the deadly failure of
the launch. Kramer discusses these different concepts that point to state corporate crime as a private business
and government agency interacted leading to the explosion. Between the 1960 s and 1970 s there was a drastic
change in response to the economic conditions. This caused budget problems while political and public support
began to decline (Kramer, 2010). During the 1960 s, NASA reached the moon and received a generous budget
with large political support. Due to all this support in the 1960 s, NASA was viewed to be in their glory days.
During these so called glory days, NASA could recruit top scientists with a can do attitude who were all willing
to work together with a serious commitment to safety and quality control (Kramer, 2010). This societal context
is where the problem begins to emerge. There was a large downfall of the space program in the 1970 s due
economic strain. Nonetheless, NASA was granted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

makes an important point here when discussing how these factors point to state corporate crime by these
corporations doing whatever is necessary to complete the goal, while not thinking about the risk of human

Freud Defense Mechanisms
Sigmund Freud: Defense Mechanisms Sigmund Freud was a psychoanalytic theorist and practitioner who
strongly emphasized the unconscious processes and biological drives that guide our behavior. He asserted that
instincts are the propelling forces of our personality, and that they originate in the id (the unconscious part of
our personality that works on the pleasure principle, and is a reservoir of our instincts and libido). In addition to
the id, we have the ego (the conscious, rational side of our personality that works on the reality principle) and
the superego (the largely unconscious, moral side of our personality that contains our conscience). In addition
to conceptualizing five psychosexual stages that cover childhood and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

I use this defense mechanism relatively often. For example, I m a very irritable person. Therefore, I get angry at
people often. The other day, I was in an argument with my brother and we were both becoming very frustrated.
Rather than giving into my id impulse, which was to hit my brother, I sublimated that impulse into something
else exercise. Instead of fighting my brother, I decided to go to the gym. Alfred Adler: Striving for Superiority
and Fictional Finalism Alfred Adler was a psychological theorist who placed much emphasis on the uniqueness
of each individual. Consequently, he disagreed with Freud, especially regarding Freuds idea of the universality
of biological motives in every person. Adler proposed that inferiority is a function of the environment, and that
it is the normal condition of all people. Furthermore, he asserted that inferiority is the source for human
striving, because people compensate for feelings of inferiority by striving for higher levels of development. In
other words, we strive for superiority, and we have a strong will to work towards perfection or completion.
Additionally, Adler asserted that people have an imagined or potential goal that guides our behavior, which he
called fictional finalism. I feel as though my behavior is guided by striving for superiority, and by fictional
finalism. I strive for superiority on a daily basis, in most aspects of my life. First, I

Civilian Body Cameras
Multiple studies of the effect of body cameras on the amount of civilian complaints have been conducted. In a
study conducted by the University of Cambridge with help from the Denver, Colorado police department,
complaints have dropped by 47% (Zercoe n.p). According to Zercoe, 105 Denver officers were equipped with
body cameras from June 1, 2014 to December 21, 2014 (n.p). The study in Rialto, California found that
complaints dropped from 24 in 2012, to three in 2013. New Carrolton police chief stated, We had one person
make a claim and we explained to them that we would check the video on the officer s interaction. When they
heard we had video, they changed their mind and they didn t want to complain (n.p). Civilian behavior has
improved with the use of body cameras. In fact, there are less complaints and civil conversations between an
officer and civilian because of the small devices.
With the use of body cameras, video recordings of law enforcement encounters involving civilians will provide
efficient evidence. Interactions between an officer and a civilian often occur. Often, we find videos of those

The Difference Between Colonies And Empires
Present day history has different lineages which often leads to different colonization s and empires. This may
pose the question: what is the difference between colonies and empires. According to ancient history
encyclopedia an empire is the political construct in which a state dominates over another or a series of state. In
true empire method, an emperor is the ruler of said empire however, history shows that many empires ran
without a sole emperor. Colonization is defined as initiating dominance over a group of indigenous people.
Over time history shows the revolt against both empires and colonization. This paper aims to show the changes
that occur within different countries in regard to the previous reign of empires and colonization. An empire that

people within their society. The empire was just about 2,400 miles and to give an idea would start at the border
of Ecuador and reach to Colombia. The empire was so well off it is historically known as the biggest empire of
Latin America and indigenous people. The empire took roughly 200 years to be successful and officially
reigned between 1400 and 1533 C.E. The empire remained successful due to their work on their
interrelationships and response to outside interference. Their main focus was on diplomacy often working out
their hardships through gift exchanges, marital agreements or political alliances. If this

Stereotype Of The Angry Black Woman
I am loud, irate, and unapproachable. If you disrespect me, I become uncontrollable, because my only method
of communication is through deleterious speech that only escalates the situation further. I am the angry black
woman. We see this horrific stereotype almost every day on television and very seldom notice it, because we
get lost in the entertainment of it. The Angry Black Woman stereotype is harmful to black women, young and
old, because it shows us in a negative light and can control how other and how we see ourselves. When women
get angry, it s often blamed dismissively on their monthly menstrual cycle. But imagine just how infuriating it
would be if all of your negative emotions were blamed on your year round skin tone. The stereotype of the
angry black woman is a prime example of how these categorizations function as social control mechanisms.
Media constantly use this stereotype of the angry black woman as rude, stubborn, and most of all angry.
Though we all know that most movies are fictional, they are harmful because they can demonstrate different
real life personalities. The Angry Train scene in Why Did I Get Married, displays this stereotype. In this scene,
we see Angela, Marcus wife confront her husband about his baby mama looking at her crazy. The passengers
behind Angela and Marcus asks her to quiet down, and from there, we see the angry black woman break out,
hence the scene title, Angry Train . We also hear some racist remarks from the

Iron Jawed Angels By Katja Von Garnier
Iron Jawed Angels, by Katja von Garnier, is a non fictional drama about a group of women who do everything
they can and will do in order to the women s right to vote during the years between 1912 and 1920, as it was
started by Susan B. Anthony, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and many others in 1890. Alice Paul and Lucy Burns,
two of the younger women suffragists, join the NAWSA (the National American Woman Suffrage Association)
to try to push for the constitutional amendment for women s suffrage. Carrie Catt and Anna Shaw allow Alice
Paul and Lucy Burns to take over the Washington D.C. NAWSA committee, but Alice and Lucy would have to
raise their own funds for the committee. When Alice and Lucy first get to Washington D.C., Alice and Lucy go
around recruiting a team of volunteers, including Mabel Vernon, Ruza Wenclawska, and Doris Stevens. Alice,
Lucy, Mabel, Ruza, and Doris went to an art gallery to solicit for donations and in the process, Alice convinces
Inez Mulholland, a labor lawyer, to be the figure for the parade and the committee. President Woodrow Wilson
on one side of Washington D.C. feels a little bit ignored, because on the other side of Washington D.C. the
women suffrage parade ends up turning into a riot, with the women suffragists being attacked. Alice and Lucy
go over Carrie s, the president of NAWSA, head to pursue their advantage of publicity by getting a delegation
to go see and talk to President Wilson. President Wilson, tells them that they have to wait a

Spotify Descriptive Writing
Six in the morning. Usually I wouldn t complain about it being so early, but this morning in particular seemed
so brutal. I walked back upstairs from the constant good mornings, my feet dragged and my eyes drooped. I
knew this was going to be a long day. I walked into my bathroom to get ready for another day of getting told
what to do, when to do it and how to do it. I reach for my phone that s sitting comfortably on my counter and
log into Spotify. Being more alert now and focused on the task at hand, didn t remember that me and my
brother, Erik, shared a Spotify. This would not be such a big deal if we weren t on it at the same time. The
reason being is what he was listening to when I clicked on the app would pause his music and play it on my
phone. I clicked onto the app my phone started to blare this strange music. At this point in my life I wasn t a big
music fan. Sure I liked the occasional Fall Out Boy, but other than that, I just listened to ... Show more content

they told me they got Sarra tickets to go see them for her birthday and that they also got three for me, my dad,
and Sarra to go. I almost screamed I was so happy. Well, I d be lying if I say almost. I did scream. I kept
listening to their music and becoming an even bigger fan of them than I was. Flash forward to June 28th, 2016.
The day of the concert. My dad ended up giving his ticket to Erik, but later deciding he really wanted to go and
so did my mom, bought tickets for both of them. On the way to the concert I had my phone plugged into the

Opening to a Horror Story Essay
Opening to a Horror Story
They told him the house was haunted. They told him the house was strange. Five families had moved in, and
never made it out. Alive anyway. He had already survived two days with his family. His second night in his
new home, what could possibly happen?
A whispered name.
The boy stirs in his sleep. A pale, vaporous moon lights the room. Shadows are deep. He twists his head,
turning towards the window so that his face becomes a soft mask, unblemished, colourless. But the boy s dream
is troubled; beneath his lids, his eyes dart to and fro.
The whispered name:
Daniel....
Its sound is distant.
The boy frowns; yet the voice is within his own slumber, a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He stands at the door, as if fearing to touch. But he is puzzled. More he is curious. He twists the handle, the
metal s coldness leaping along his arm like iced energy released from a source. The shock is mild against the
damp chill of his own body. He pulls the door open and the darkness beyond is more dense; it seems to swell
into the bedroom, a waxing shadow. He shrinks away, reluctant to allow contact with this fresh darkness.
His vision adjusts, and the inkiness scatters as if weakened by its own sudden growth. He advances again,
passing through the doorway to stand shivering on the landing overlooking the staircase. To descend this would
be like sinking into the blackest of all pits, for darkness down there appears final.
Still the hushed whisper urges:
...Daniel...
He listens for a moment more, perhaps wishing that the minor voice would also rouse his sleeping parents.
There is no sound from their room; grief has exhausted their bodies as well as their spirit. He stares into the
centre of the darkness below, terribly compelled to descend.
The fingers of one hand slide against the wall, as he does so, their tips rippling over the textured wall paper.
Disbelief mingles with the fascination and the fear. Small lights caught from who knows where? At the foot of

Chaos Theory Research Paper
Chaos has been studied for centuries. It has grown into its own branch of mathematics and sciences since the
1960 s. It has been shown that chaos is around us in our everyday lives and has also branched out into other
mathematics and sciences which has lead to more research, new theories and studies.
The first thing that should be mentioned for chaos in our everyday life should be the weather and weather
predictions since the chaos theory was based on the studies of meteorologist Edward Lorenz. Weather
prediction is only possible short term. A slight disturbance in the atmosphere can completely change the
weather. In order to predict long term conditions, scientists would need to be able to measure the atmosphere
and even the oceans with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Our bodies contain chaos throughout from heartbeats to lungs to brain activity. The beating heart can be
described as chaotic as the beats are usually different and depend on conditions such as exercise, stress or even
emotional state. Heartbeats in a healthy heart are supposed to have slight variations. This is one way how
doctors can determine if a heart has disease. The chaos is not there rather in a diseased heart, the beats are
constant and predictable with no slight variations, or are on the opposite end and are wildly erratic. Dr. Ary L.
Goldberger, of Boston, MA., is doing extensive research on heart rates and chaotic patterns. Dr. Goldberger
was able to show fractal patterns in heart rates. A heart rate is quite complex and does show signs of self
similarity but does break down when it becomes diseased. Fractal geometry is seen in the heart as well as the
circulatory system. The first place that fractal geometry can be seen in the circulatory system are in veins and
arteries along with the heart muscles. The veins, arteries and heart muscles actually protect the circulatory
system from the strong and violent pumping of the

Theu.s. Gun Violence Is Becoming A Very Critical Issue As...
n the U.S. gun violence is becoming a very critical issue as death tolls increase. In 2015, the Unites States had
an average of one mass shooting per day, meaning there have been no shootings in which four or more people
have been killed by a single gunman. As hundreds of people die each year from gun violence, strengthening the
United States gun laws in becoming a necessity to reduce violence, as done in other countries; however,
because of the belief that mental illness is the primary cause of gun violence, political lobbying, and the Second
Amendment, passing these laws may prove very challenging.
After the Port Arthur massacre, the Australian government took a successful action against gun violence by
passing a program that decreased ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Private ownership of guns was almost totally banned. Even after these strict gun laws, gun violence rates
increased in England and Wales after the gun laws were passed, peaking at 2003 2004, with almost 25,000
incidents. However, according to CNN, there has been a decrease by 53 percent in homicide rates from 2004 to
2011 (Hartmann). Even after this mixed outcome, Anthony Faiola, the Washington Post s Berlin bureau chief,
still states that the most current statistics available show that firearms were used to kill 59 people in all of
England and Wales in 2011, compared with 77 such homicides in Washington D.C., alone (Hartmann).
Although the effect of Britain s gun laws is much less clear cut than that of Australia, the impact is still
noticeable.
However, mental illness is believed to be as the prime cause of gun violence by many, which recent data
contradicts. In 2013, over 45 percent of respondents to a national survey said that people with mental illness
were more dangerous than other people. According to two recent Gallup polls, from 2011 and 2013, more
people believe that mass shootings result from a failure of the mental health system than from easy access to
guns. The belief has even affected politics and laws. Anybody who has been admitted into a mental hospital or
is considered mentally defective is not allowed to purchase firearms after the 1968 Gun Control Act
(Konnikova). Jeffrey Swanson, a medical sociologist and

Pearl Harbor Attack Report
The sun broke the horizon at 7:03 and brought an orange tint to the skies in eastern Hawaii. On the other side of
the island, Lieutenant Commander Ryan was asleep in his barracks along with his fellow pilots. Unaware about
what was going to happen in about 52 minutes Ryan knew he had a boat inspection scheduled at 8 a.m. on the
battleship Oklahoma later that morning. Ryan scheduled his alarm for 7:20 a.m. so he could awake early and
make it to Pearl Harbor for his appointment. Meanwhile on battleship Oklahoma the sailors had opened the
portholes and water tight hatches so that the Oklahoma would air out for a fresher inspection for Lieutenant
Ryan. It was now 7:32 and Lieutenant Ryan was on his way to base Pearl Harbor for the boat inspection, while
driving through the county of Honolulu Lieutenant Ryan decided to stop and grab a quick coffee from the local
diner. Meantime under 150 miles north from the coast of the Island of Oahu, the first fleet of Japanese fighter
pilots would be zoning in on their target. The Americans on base Pearl Harbor would be completely unaware of
the incoming attack. It was now 7:40 and Lieutenant Ryan would just now be arriving at the check in gate at

Impact Of Gold Rush On Australian Identity
A gold rush is a large scale and hasty movement of people to a region where gold has been discovered
(Unkown, 2018). There were multiple gold finds before 1851 but none of them caused gold rushes, then in
1851 the first Australian gold rush started. As soon has people had heard of payable gold in Australia they
started flocking from all over the country and even overseas which was a major economy boost for Australia
and helped it to become the nation to which it is today. The Australian gold rush had a major impact on
establishing the Colonial Australian identity, through many changes and long term affects.
Edward Hargraves started the first Australian gold rush when he discovered 5 specks of alluvial gold at a place

Gold brought wealth to Australia and a new identity. Before gold was discovered Australia was a lawless prison
colony. The Eureka Rebellion was an important part of the gold rush and a crucial step towards democracy. It
was a falling out between the diggers and the trooper, the diggers were protesting the high price of their licence
fees, after the confrontation in Ballarat changers were implicated. For those reasons the Eureka rebellion is
known as the start of Australian democracy. There were some bad long term affects that came with the gold
rush as well, it caused a larger exclusion of the indigenous people as more and more of them were forced of
their land. This is still a problem nowadays as they still look to reclaim which has been lost including their

René Lalique became synonymous with French Art Nouveau decorative arts. René Lalique was born in 1860
and first began designing fine jewelry in Paris in 1881. Lalique pursued increasingly more innovative
experimentation in glass commencing around 1883. Early works used the familiar lost wax technique by which
the model is made in wax while a mold is formed around the model. Then, the wax is melted and molten glass
is poured into the mold. Lalique glass was made in this manner until approximately 1905 at which time the
factory was redesigned for a larger production. As such, the individual uniqueness of each example of Lalique
glass came to an end with the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of these creations are now on display at the Orrefors Glass Museum. The news that artists were engaged
in a glasshouse for the first time attracted gifted glassblowers to Orrefors. The union of glassblowers and artists
led to joint development of techniques such as Graal and Ariel , and to further development of the traditional
Bohemian cooper wheel engraving. On the whole, Orrefors offered broad scope for experiment and innovation
with new techniques being developed and older ones refined and this is still the case today.
Success led to the arrival of new designers. The graphic artist Vicke Lindstrand came to Orrefors in 1928, and
designed glass that was painted or engraved. Nils Landberg and Sven Palmqvist came at the end of the 1920 s
as engravers, apprentices, and after service as assistants to Simon Gate and Edward Hald became full fledged
glass artists during the 1930 s. The sculptor Edvin Ohrstrom joined Orrefors in 1936.

The New York Stock Exchange Crash Of 1929
The open market in the United States allows for many individuals and businesses to develop and grow their
capital so long as financial regulation is handled properly. Proper regulation of loans allows for reasonable
restriction towards speculation and encourages business expansion. When regulation is loosely held the
economy suffers from misrepresentation of loans and broker ignorance. This can be represented through the
New York Stock Exchange crash of 1929, which holds many similarities to the events leading to and after the
United States subprime mortgage crisis. Increased popularity of on margin loans almost directly correlate to the
subprime mortgages that were made widely available in the first decade of the twenty first century. Brokers and
loan originators, who fabricated on margin and subprime mortgage loans, increased country wide economic
risk by encouraging individuals to accept monetary burdens they could not possibly afford. Also, as individuals
continued to purchase on credit, a market economic bubble was formed. Once this bubble popped the Dow
Jones, what individuals typically look to for market value, suffered a massive decrease in values. Each market
crash displayed these occurrences, which can be correlated to one another.
On Margin Subprime Mortgages
The popularity of on margin stock purchases and subprime mortgages increased prior to each economic
meltdown. The 1920 era was a time of confidence and enthusiasm because of the market s economic success.

An Analysis Of Turner s Expectation Of Privacy Although actions in the public are considered to have no reasonable expectation of privacy, we forget that a home is considered everything including the curtilage that surrounds the home. Therefore we need to take into consideration that the backyard and patio is essentially attached to the home and can be considered to be apart of the curtilage associated with the home. Therefore, by utilizing the R.E.P. two fold requirement where the first fold is: associated with Turner having a reasonable expectation of privacy, there is an agreeing opinion. • 4. Fire In Zoroastrianism A similar concept of light versus darkness and good versus evil is also present in other religions of the region. In Hinduism, for instance, the festival of Diwali is a symbolic representation of the victory of the light or good over the darkness or evil . The concept of light and fire stand in the centre of this festival, in which people symbolically celebrate the victory of the light over the darkness by lighting diva , little oil lamp, inside homes and firecrackers outside homes. Thus, the concept of fire , light or sun in Zoroastrianism, or in the religion of the Āzar people, neither represent nor does it substitute God. Rather they symbolically demonstrate the direction of prayer and remind believers of the divine guidance and the trap of the destructive spirit of Ahrīman. ... It was to remind people that fire in itself is not sacred, but the angelic spirit, or an extension of the divine authority that stands behind it, is sacred. In other words, it is to remind people that fire itself is not the end goal, as the Kaʿba is not the end goal in itself. Rather the divine spirit that stands behind this symbolic object is important and sacred. As shall be discussed further in this section, the Āzaras, the Azaras or the Hazaras of Afghanistan still maintain glimpses of this symbolic signification, the latent thought that lay deep behind the concept of fire, and has been repressed over a millennium period of time by the dominance of Islamic beliefs and ... • 5. The Pros And Cons Of Grizzly Bears The trophy hunting of at risk grizzly bears is a controversial topic in Canada. It is part of the Canadian cultural inheritance. Hunting grizzly bears are considered to be a legitimate recreational activity in some parts of Canada. They inhabit in the forest and near the costal line. The numbers of bear reached tens of thousands before, but because they are fierce and threatening human beings, they are being hunted and killed. Also, the low mortality rate of grizzly means low population, but they play a critical role as a predator in the ecosystem. The problem is over hunting and industrialization will cause extinction of this rare species, and lead to disharmony between the government and First Nations. I mainly support the ban of grizzly ... Generally they benefit the surroundings by transporting berry seed to enable them to geminate, or pile up their fresh manure as fertilizer. While they searching for tree roots or ground squirrels, they increased the amount of nitrogen through soil disturbance. (Ibid) As a predator, grizzlies can control prey population. • 6. Wireless Communication And Control System WIRELESS COMMUNICATION WITH BCI Abstract A Brain Computer Interface is a communication and control system in which human mind can be translated to the external world without the help of the normal output pathways of muscles and nerves. Each time we do something or think about doing something, our brain generates distinct signals. These signals corresponding to an activity, has a pattern. Finding this pattern is a challenging job and is the main task of any Brain Computer Interface. A BCI acquires these signals from the brain of a user in the form of Electroencephalography (EEG). Then after pre processing, feature extraction and classification, it translates these signals into meaningful commands or instructions to drive a device or application. Electroencephalography is used to record electrical fields that represent the brain signals and are generated due to the local brain function. Most of the applications today are only used in computers and just focus on the realization of direction strategies. To meet the potential increasing user s needs and explore interacting processes with people s mental states, we design an application that maps signals from the human brain and performs operations like calling, messaging, gaming and photography. The brain signals are mapped and stored to create different commands using a series of refined signal processing procedures. These commands are declared and defined to perform the above mentioned operations like calling, messaging, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Essay On The Development Of The Albertan Oil Sands Canada s oil sands are among the largest oil reserves in the word. This is evident from the fact that Canada is ranked third for the largest oil reserve in the world, after Venezuela and Saudi Arabia ( Oil Sands, n.d.). Oil sand , is a naturally occurring mixture of sand, clay, water and bitumen (Gosselin et al., 2010). It is a very dense and extremely viscous oil that must be treated before it can be used to produce usable fuels such as gasoline and diesel (Gosselin et al., 2010). In North America, high oil prices, growing demand, and diminishing oil reserves results in greater interest to mine local oil reserves. This will in turn, result in a greater greenhouse gas effect and contribute significantly more to climate change. Canada will not be able to meet green emission standards and will rather be contributing more to global climate change than trying to reduce it. Along with greenhouse gases, other pollutants are released into the air during oil sands operations. These pollutants are harmful to ambient air quality and human health. In the Alberta oil sands, regional air quality is mainly impacted by the production of nitrogen dioxide and nitric oxide (NOx gases) ( Air Emissions, 2015). NOx gases are primarily produced by fuel combustion in vehicles and react to form smog and acid rain (NOx gases in diesel car, 2015). Consequently, these gases project a concern to the workers present that are mining the oil sands. This is because NOx gases overtime can lead to reduced lung function and breathing problems (NOx gases in diesel car, 2015). Finally, these gases pose a threat to local wildlife and vegetation since they react to form acid rain in the atmosphere. The production of acid rain is harmful for the ecosystems present. This is especially true for aquatic ecosystems and overtime will lead to death of local wildlife. To conclude, the development of the oil sands is unfavorable due to the production of harmful gases. The development impacts global climate negatively due to increased greenhouse gas ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Starry Night By Vincent Van Gogh This paper attempts to present a discussion of Vincent van Gogh s painting the Starry Night, in terms of his art style that lead people to interpret a different way of reality and the impact of that style subsequently on modern day artistic culture. Also, van Gogh s late style that inherit his religious belief, his experience and his knowledge of astrology is also worth to mention that, as exhibited in this painting, had not only a direct artistic impact that inspire other artist to imitate it, but it also exercised an indirect way, which we might be called it as an ideological inspiration. The Starry Night was painted by Vincent van Gogh during his stay in hospital window at Saint Rémy in 1889, one year before his death. Although the canvas painting with oil on held out multiple interpretations, van Gogh s apparent theme is his communication of the vastness in his artwork. The painting depicts a small town, verified as the view of van Gogh from his hospital window, which was under a blue and vast dark night sky that is filled with luminous stars. There are many interpretations of Starry Night which is came from van Gogh s influences in his poetry, personal religious conflict, astronomy, depression, all of which convey van Gogh s representation in creating an unique lucius view of reality. • 14. Rhetorical Analysis Of Building A Bridge Between... Rhetorical Analysis of Building a Bridge Between Engineering and the Humanities On February 14, 2016, the Chronicle of Higher Education published an essay by Julio M. Ottino and Gary Saul Morson entitled Building a Bridge Between Engineering and the Humanities. Ottino and Morson discuss the importance of the fields of engineering and the humanities. The purpose of the essay is to show how engineering and the humanities are linked together and are needed simultaneously. Even though, Morson and Ottino adopt a weak informal tone in the middle of their argument; the authors end their argument strong by successfully using ethos and logos to appeal to their audience, college and university faculty and administrators. Ottino and Morson begin with an introduction of the topic of engineering and humanities. The authors use a jovial tone to portray the current engineering field as booming and an essential part of innovation. They use the appeal of logos to convey the current issues with humanities programs by suggesting, The humanities, by contrast, are in peril, with fewer students each year. Morson and Ottino show the current state of both the engineering and humanities fields in order to emanate a sense of urgency to the reader. This introduction shows that there is a need to fix the humanities field because it is slowly decreasing to nothing. Most college and university faculty know the current state of the humanities field. However, Ottino and Morson start their ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Individuals With Learning Disabilities Are All Unique Individuals with learning disabilities are all unique. A learning disability, to me, is a condition that changes the way an individual learns and impacts how they are able to express the knowledge they have learned. Learning disabilities are separate from physical limitations because, according to IDEA 04, learning disabilities impact an individual s ability to listen, think, speak, read, write, spell, or do mathematical calculations. An individual with a learning disability most often does not appear at the surface to look different from their peers, but they require additional supports, strategies and instruction in order to be a successful student. I believe their brain is hardwired to learn differently from the typical student, and it is my job, as the special education teacher, to find out how the student learns best and provide them with the tools they need. In addition to knowing how students with learning disabilities learn differently, I also know they have to work harder than the average student. I have learned that my students need to establish positive relationships with their teacher. These individuals need to know there is someone who believes in them who is also able to motivate them to continue to give their best each and every day. They may also need frequent breaks and a change of pace in instruction and lessons to keep maintain their attention and effort. Appropriate accommodations and sometimes modifications are also important for our learning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 17. Space Shuttle Challenger Explosion Summary The case study I chose to analyze was the Space Shuttle Challenger Explosion, by Ronald C. Kramer. Kramer, discussed the four main components that led to the catastrophic explosion. These components included the societal context, the final flaw, the persons behind the final decision to launch, and lastly the failure of social control mechanisms. Unlike popular belief, there was more than just one factor that led to the deadly failure of the launch. Kramer discusses these different concepts that point to state corporate crime as a private business and government agency interacted leading to the explosion. Between the 1960 s and 1970 s there was a drastic change in response to the economic conditions. This caused budget problems while political and public support began to decline (Kramer, 2010). During the 1960 s, NASA reached the moon and received a generous budget with large political support. Due to all this support in the 1960 s, NASA was viewed to be in their glory days. During these so called glory days, NASA could recruit top scientists with a can do attitude who were all willing to work together with a serious commitment to safety and quality control (Kramer, 2010). This societal context is where the problem begins to emerge. There was a large downfall of the space program in the 1970 s due economic strain. Nonetheless, NASA was granted ... • 18. Freud Defense Mechanisms Sigmund Freud: Defense Mechanisms Sigmund Freud was a psychoanalytic theorist and practitioner who strongly emphasized the unconscious processes and biological drives that guide our behavior. He asserted that instincts are the propelling forces of our personality, and that they originate in the id (the unconscious part of our personality that works on the pleasure principle, and is a reservoir of our instincts and libido). In addition to the id, we have the ego (the conscious, rational side of our personality that works on the reality principle) and the superego (the largely unconscious, moral side of our personality that contains our conscience). Alfred Adler: Striving for Superiority and Fictional Finalism Alfred Adler was a psychological theorist who placed much emphasis on the uniqueness of each individual. Consequently, he disagreed with Freud, especially regarding Freuds idea of the universality of biological motives in every person. Adler proposed that inferiority is a function of the environment, and that it is the normal condition of all people. Furthermore, he asserted that inferiority is the source for human striving, because people compensate for feelings of inferiority by striving for higher levels of development. In other words, we strive for superiority, and we have a strong will to work towards perfection or completion. Additionally, Adler asserted that people have an imagined or potential goal that guides our behavior, which he called fictional finalism. This may pose the question: what is the difference between colonies and empires. According to ancient history encyclopedia an empire is the political construct in which a state dominates over another or a series of state. In true empire method, an emperor is the ruler of said empire however, history shows that many empires ran without a sole emperor. Colonization is defined as initiating dominance over a group of indigenous people. Over time history shows the revolt against both empires and colonization. This paper aims to show the changes that occur within different countries in regard to the previous reign of empires and colonization. An empire that is well known through history would be the Inca empire. It is estimated they had roughly six to twelve million people within their society. The empire was just about 2,400 miles and to give an idea would start at the border of Ecuador and reach to Colombia. If you disrespect me, I become uncontrollable, because my only method of communication is through deleterious speech that only escalates the situation further. I am the angry black woman. We see this horrific stereotype almost every day on television and very seldom notice it, because we get lost in the entertainment of it. The Angry Black Woman stereotype is harmful to black women, young and old, because it shows us in a negative light and can control how other and how we see ourselves. When women get angry, it s often blamed dismissively on their monthly menstrual cycle. But imagine just how infuriating it would be if all of your negative emotions were blamed on your year round skin tone. The stereotype of the angry black woman is a prime example of how these categorizations function as social control mechanisms. Media constantly use this stereotype of the angry black woman as rude, stubborn, and most of all angry. Though we all know that most movies are fictional, they are harmful because they can demonstrate different real life personalities. The Angry Train scene in Why Did I Get Married, displays this stereotype. In this scene, we see Angela, Marcus wife confront her husband about his baby mama looking at her crazy. • 32. The New York Stock Exchange Crash Of 1929 The open market in the United States allows for many individuals and businesses to develop and grow their capital so long as financial regulation is handled properly. Proper regulation of loans allows for reasonable restriction towards speculation and encourages business expansion. When regulation is loosely held the economy suffers from misrepresentation of loans and broker ignorance. This can be represented through the New York Stock Exchange crash of 1929, which holds many similarities to the events leading to and after the United States subprime mortgage crisis. Increased popularity of on margin loans almost directly correlate to the subprime mortgages that were made widely available in the first decade of the twenty first century. Brokers and loan originators, who fabricated on margin and subprime mortgage loans, increased country wide economic risk by encouraging individuals to accept monetary burdens they could not possibly afford. Also, as individuals continued to purchase on credit, a market economic bubble was formed. Once this bubble popped the Dow Jones, what individuals typically look to for market value, suffered a massive decrease in values. Each market crash displayed these occurrences, which can be correlated to one another.
