Essay On Discipline In Student Life
Writing an essay on the topic of discipline in student life can be a challenging task that requires a
thoughtful and structured approach. The difficulty lies not only in the need to explore and
analyze the concept of discipline but also in presenting it in a way that engages the reader and
conveys a clear message.
Firstly, one must delve into the multifaceted nature of discipline, encompassing aspects such as
time management, self-control, and adherence to rules. This involves conducting thorough
research to gather relevant information and examples that illustrate the significance of discipline
in a student's academic and personal life.
Crafting a compelling introduction that captures the reader's attention while clearly stating the
purpose of the essay is crucial. Subsequently, organizing the content in a logical sequence and
maintaining a coherent flow throughout the essay pose additional challenges. Balancing the
theoretical aspects with practical examples and personal insights requires finesse to create a well-
rounded and convincing argument.
Moreover, addressing potential counterarguments and offering a balanced perspective adds
complexity to the writing process. The essay should not only highlight the positive aspects of
discipline but also acknowledge potential drawbacks or criticisms, providing a nuanced and
comprehensive view.
The task is not merely about conveying information but also about crafting a piece that resonates
with the audience. Achieving an engaging writing style, maintaining proper grammar and syntax,
and adhering to formatting guidelines contribute to the overall difficulty.
In conclusion, writing an essay on discipline in student life involves navigating through various
challenges, from in-depth research and organization to maintaining a balance in presenting
arguments. It demands not only a clear understanding of the topic but also effective
communication skills to convey the message convincingly.

Sprite Commercial
The first video that I found was a commercial for Sprite s new campaign, You
Define Yourself . For the commercial they hired a model that has vitiligo, Chantelle
Winnie Harlow. She first made her presence in the fashion world being a
contestant on Cycle 21 of America s Next Top Model. Although she did not win
the contest, many people and companies loved her and found her look to be very
unique. Since being on ANTM she has modeled for brands such as: Desigual,
Diesel, Swarovski and has been featured in magazines such as: Glamour, Complex,
Cosmopolitan and Vogue Italia. In the commercial she speaks about how her first
step in trying to get her career started she had a fake it til you make it attitude and
she had to exude confidence that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the video they show a city that has been deserted. After a while you start to see
people, but they are blending in with the backgrounds of where they are standing
or sitting. Some blended into brick walls, wall paper, buses, billboards, park
benches and a variety of other things. One man pulls a Sprite out of his bag, takes a
sip and then realizes that he does not have to blend into the wall. He proceeds to
take of his clothing, which is the same color as the wall and remove the paint from
his face until he is wondering around in his underwear. He wonders around the city
until he runs into this attractive woman and he sees she has realized that same
thing because her clothes are removed and she has a Sprite in her hand. They then
smile at each other and that s how the commercial ended. For this commercial there
were both good and bad comments. The positive comments talked about how cool it
was to have a camo theme for bringing out how unique everyone is and the negative,
in my opinion missed the entire message of the video and wrote about how tacky and
disrespectful it was to have people removing their
Life Of Pi Figurative Language Essay
An author s use of figurative language enables a better understanding of the story
and its characters. Yann Martel s use of metaphor and allegory in his novel Life of
Pi gives a better insight into Pi and his story. The events of Pi s journey are not
necessarily to be taken literally; instead, it is important to think about what they
represent. Pi s ordeal itself and the experiences and places he encounters on the
way are fantastical concepts that symbolize realistic themes. Examples of Martel s
use of figurative language are the island and Richard Parker s presence on the
boat. The algae island symbolizes spiritual death and the dangers of complacency.
When Pi first sees it, he believes it is a delusion. He is overjoyed at finding land,
and he believes it is his salvation. Pi begins to recuperate, [spending] the following
days eating and drinking and bathing and observing the meerkats and walking and
running and resting and growing stronger. [His] running [becomes] smooth . . .
[His] skin heal[s]. [His] aches and pains [leave] [him] . . . [he] return[s] to life.
(Martel 269) After getting over the original fears and doubts that come with the
discovery of the island, he gradually becomes comfortable too comfortable. He
returns to life, and even says that had he not found the teeth in the tree, he might
have lived for years [or] for the rest of [his] life on that island. (279) Pi even
manages to train Richard Parker, to literally make him jump through hoops.
The Cause Of Tornadoes In The United States
A tornado is a violent windstorm that cause destruction of buildings, houses, cars,
roads, and many more important things. Tornadoes happen mostly between the rocky
mountains and appalachian mountains which is why they are also known as tornado
alley. They have the most tornadoes each year in the U.S. Just because tornadoes
occur most in tornadoalley that does not mean there aren t tornadoes anywhere else.
As a matter of fact no place is safe, tornadoes can happen anywhere in America. The
cause of Tornadoes are hot temperatures, cold temperatures, and humidity all coming
together. The warm air rises, but at the same time the two fronts are meeting, the
cold air barricades the warm air beneath it. The warm air is trapped below
How To Raise Thermostat
When the central air conditioner breaks down, it s a good time to step back and
think of ways to save money on air conditioning costs in the future. People can come
to forget that central air is a convenience that was uncommon until the 1970s. Even
in a hot climate, it s possible to reduce one s reliance on central air. Implement some
strategies to bring your utility bills down while not sacrificing comfort. Gradually
Raise the Thermostat Temperature If you already keep your thermostat set in the
high 70s or higher in the summertime, that s commendable. If you tend to set it
lower than that, start gradually raising it until you feel comfortable at a higher
temperature. You don t have to make the leap from 73 degrees to 78 degrees in one
day.
Disunity Of The Labour Party Essay
the conservatives dominated in the years 1951 to 1964 partly as a result of the
disunity of the Labour party at this time, but also as a result of the strength of their
leadership amongst other advantages that the Conservative party had over Labour
at this time. For example, the peacetime economic boom that they were able to
take advantage of. The Labour disunity also had knock effects like Labour being
unable to take advantage of the Suez crisis. One way in which the disunity of
labour helped the conservatives to remain dominant in these years was how the
ideological and personal splits between Bevan and Gaitskell created an extremely
divided party with deep rifts within it. These splits were mainly ideological as Bevan

Macmillan can also be seen as a strong leader by the way that he was viewed,
earning the nickname supermac . He undoubtably had popularity and support from
the public partly due to his unflappable nature. admittedly towards then end of his
prime ministership he became less popular due to the rise of satire and political
scandals such as the Profumo affair. Nevertheless, this still shows how their
dominance can also be put down to the party s strong leadership in being able to
take advantage of an incredibly disunited Labour. Another way in which they were
able to do this was by creating a united conservative front bench. This can be seen
by any disagreements between cabinet members were never made public.
Therefore, as a result of this the conservatives were able to gain more support from
the public due to the fact that they were offering a united party whereas Labour was
not. It can also be argued that their leadership was also able to judge the mood of the
country in this period. This is as after Attlee s government Churchill captured the
mood of the country, which was that the public wanted more freedom as is seen by
the film from this era passport to
Understanding Gerlad s Writings
Giraldus Cambrensis, known more commonly as Gerald of Wales, was a complex
mix of nationalities far greater than his name implies. Understanding Gerlad s
writings of The History and Topography of Ireland and The Journey Through Wales
and the Description of Wales can only be done when analyzed in context. It is vital
to evaluate how his diverse background and calculated reasons for the descriptions of
the Welsh and Irish peopleinfluenced his writing. And furthermore, it is imperative to
use Gerald s writings to consider if his writings accurately reflect English attitudes of
Ireland and Wales.
Interpreting Gerald and determining if his writings reflected views of the English
is not a simple answer. To answer the question, Gerald himself must be categorized.
While being one quarter Welsh from his grandmother, a Princess of Wales, he had
a variety of life experiences that classify him as something else (Gransden 160).
He studied in France, at the University of Paris making him highly educated and
well traveled for the time (Clarke 98). In addition to this he was also a Cambro
Norman Archdeacon of Brecon, a Welsh title for an ecclesiastical officer of the
Church and had ties to the Norman wave of immigrants in Wales (Gransden 160). In

religion in the area. This implied lack of religion furthers the idea for the Cambro

Christianity. (Ironically, the Irish had had a longer standing Christian/Catholic

Multiple Myeloma Presenting With Spinal Cord Compression: Case Report
Liew Chiu Yee
Abstract
Multiple myeloma is a haematological malignancy characterized by clonal
proliferation of malignant plasma cell in the bone marrow with diffuse bony
involvement. The spine is the most common skeletal site being involved. This case
report describes a multiple myeloma patient presented with spinal cord compression
and illustrates the aspects of differential diagnosis, the use of laboratory and imaging
for diagnosis.
Introduction
Multiple myeloma accounts for 1% of all malignancies and 10% of haematological
malignancies. Ninety eight percent of cases occur over the age of 40 years with the
median age of diagnosis at 66 years old.
Multiple myeloma is characterized by plasma cell accumulation in the bone marrow
commonly localized in the spine. 80 90% of patients develop myeloma bone disease
at some stage of their disease. Myeloma bone disease associated morbidities include
bone pain, pathological fractures, spinal cord compression and hypercalcaemia. Bony
lesion in myeloma is lytic in nature and pathological fracture is a frequent
complication. Spinal cord compression is a complication of pathological fracture of
spinal column or extension of vertebral body myeloma lesion. Imaging techniques are
essential to identify the extent of intramedullary and extramedullary foci, and to
evaluate disease progression. A multidisciplinary approach is needed in the
management of spinal involvement in multiple myeloma.

Life Of A First Generation College Student
My time spent at Cogswell Polytechnical College has been one of a great
experience thus, making me more appreciative of the financial hardships my
family continues to endure in order for me to attend such a prestigious university.
There is no one in my family to have made it this far academically as I am living
the life of a first generation college student. Now, being the only person out of my
other nine siblings to identify as a college student raises a lot of concern from the
adults of the family as well as intrapersonal stress. The annual income my family
lives off of could be considered at poverty level, therefore financials are allocated
properly by priority with my education not being one of them. Just as society views
eighteen to be the threshold of adulthood, so do my parents. Consequently, I am
attending college strictly on my own and this is what makes me suitable candidate
for the Dragon scholarship. Simply put, anything to financially assist in my
schooling would definitely relieve the stress of wondering if Cogswell will just one
day become too expensive for me to attend. When furthering my education, problems
within my family didn t only occur at the idea of myself attending college but the
logistics of doing so. It was this conflict of, in a way, restarting life as my hometown
is Vallejo and commuting to San Jose was just not an option. Nonetheless, San Jose
was first foreign to me, but thanks to the short journey from my

his or her life. These battles can be in the form of a mental illness, uncertainty, fear,
and many more. To overcome these mental battles takes a great amount of mental
and emotional strength. In Margaret Atwood s Sor Juana Works in the Garden,
Atwood uses gardening and poetry to represent the internal battle against society
and fear for the future. In Mary Oliver s The Journey, Oliver takes a different
approach towards representing an internal battle, she writes about the battle of
depression. Both The Journey and Sor Juana Works in the Garden address internal
battles in similar and different ways. Poems can be interpreted in many ways;

Spinal Cord Injury Essay
Spinal Cord Injury
* Short Case Study #3
1. Describe the functional anatomy of the spinal cord using the following terms:
white matter, gray matter, tracts, roots, and spinal nerves. * White matter is one of
the two components of the central nervous system, and it consists of glial cells and
myelinated axons that transmit signals from one region of the cerebrum to another
as well as in between the cerebrum and lower brain centers. Grey matter contains
neural cell bodies. Unlike white matter, it is mostly made up of myelinated axon
tracts. Tracts are bundles of fibers that connect to different parts of the CNS. Roots
receive information sent by neurons. Spinal nerves refer to a mixture of spinal
nerves, which carry ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Myotomes are spinal nerve fibers and the corresponding muscles. When a spinal cord
injury happens, myotomes can be damaged which result in the lack of movement in a
muscle and the abnormal functioning of dermatomes can pinpoint spinal nerve
damage because lack of sensation occurs.
6. Define the term stretch reflex and describe how stretch reflexes are used to
anatomically localize SCI. * A stretch reflex is a contraction of a muscle when an
attached tendon is pulled. Stretch reflexes are important in maintaining proper
posture. Stretch reflexes are used to determine which areas of the body the central
nervous system are not responding to. For example, if you tap your knee to check
for reflex and the leg doesn t move, you then know that the peripheral nerves that
lead to the knee are nonresponsive and/or the brain is not receiving a signal from that
particular area.

The Drilling Of Fshore Drilling Industry
The offshore drilling industry can be split into 5 key markets: upgrade market,
contract drilling market, second hand market, scrap market and contract drilling
market. Among them contract drilling market is most important, because it ensures
smooth cash flow between markets. drilling units is summarised in the table below.
The table above describes cash flow within offshore drilling markets. Contract
drilling market leases drilling units to O G companies to drill or service wells, in
turn they receive day rates. The day rate is the daily price to lease a rig and
includes the use of the rig and its crew but does not include most of the other costs
associated with drilling and completing a well (e.g., casing, drilling fluids, logistics,
well evaluation, etc.). The drilling service industry is the largest and most closely
followed of the five markets and drives the activities of investors in the other markets.
The new build market uses shipyard labour and capital to convert steel and third
party equipment into rigs. Drilling contractors enter into turnkey contracts with
shipyards for the construction and delivery of one or more rigs, or yards may build
on speculation. The new build market is primarily Asian with major shipyards in
Singapore, South Korea, and China.
The upgrade market is a ship repair market which both upgrades and maintains rigs.
Upgrades improve and modernize rig technology and represent significant capital
expenditures.
In the second hand market, rigs are
The Apostle Peter s Position In The Catholic Church
T he Apostle Peter s position within the Catholic faith is such that he receives high
praises as the first Bishop and first Pope of Rome, and the chief pastor of the whole
Roman Catholic Church. There are various reasons why Peter has held such a high
honor and respect within the Catholic Church. Moreover, after reading the Acts of
Peter, if true, one may become overwhelmed with admiration for this noble apostle,
and appreciate Peter s placement within the Catholic Church, and why he is thus
admired. There were several disciples of Jesus that were crucified for being
Christians and the Apostle Peter were one that occurs in a number of striking works
of art that displays Peter being crucified upon a cross upside down; such as the one at
the beginning of this chapter. Still, the most noteworthy ingredient regarding the
reason for Peter s death essentially is void in the majority of widely held historical
documentation. As set forth in the New Testament, it is known that Peter had a wife

Therefore, Peter flees town due to all the threats; whereupon, Jesus then appears to
him and gives the impression He wants Peter to return. Specifically, the importance
of Jesus appearance to Peter is crucial; since due to Jesus, the crucifixion of Peter
takes place. Plausibly, with Jesus acknowledgement, Peter is put to death for his
belief in celibacy. This startling occurrence is mind boggling and dramatic! Jesus
noticeably inspires Peter to die for this belief; for indeed, Peter goes back to Rome
rejoicing, and then is crucified. In the end, there is no adequate reason why Peter
would go through the dreadful act of crucifixion, for the extreme idea of total chastity
/celibacy; unless this teaching came directly from Jesus that taught Peter the real

Server Clustering Technology And Cloud Computing Essay
Introduction The current report focuses on Server Clustering Technology and Cloud
Computing. Server clustering and cloud computing are the latest technology used in
the world widely. A cluster a parallel or distributed system that consists of a
collection of interconnected computer systems or servers that is used as a single
unified computing unit. Members of a cluster are referred to as nodes or systems.
The invention of Cloud computing has helped in ever faster and ever cheaper
computa¬tion. Analysis Cluster A Cluster is defined as a group of
independent server (nodes) in a computer system, which are accessed and
presented as a single system and in turn enables high availability and, in few cases,
cluster also plays important role in load balancing and parallel processing. Since it
is hard to predict the number of requests that will be allocated to a networked
server, clustering also plays vital role for load balancing to distribute processing
and communications activity consistently across a network system so that no
particular server is overloaded. Server clusters can be used to make sure that users
have constant access to important server based resources. Types: Server clusters
are of three types, depending on how the nodes are connected to the devices that
store the cluster configuration and state data. It should be stored in a way that
allows each active node to obtain the data even if single or more nodes are down. The
data that is stored on a resource, it is

The overage in hours is staggering, at $130,000 per year (being $2,500 per week) or
5,200 hours on an average. A further overage of materials and direct labor cost
totaling $120,000 per year in incorrect materials, for a total of $250,000 combined
in reduction of costs, increasing resources of the company and client satisfaction.

Difference Between Absorption Variable Costing
Difference between Variable amp; Absorption Costing
When it comes to managerial accounting, the way that information is presented can
affect decision making for a business. In a manufacturing environment, companies
can use absorption costing or variable costing when accounting for the costs of
products produced. While these methods are similar, they have some key differences
that can impact the company.
Absorption Costing * Absorption costing, also known as full costing is a method by
which all of the expenses associated with producing a product are included in its cost.
With absorption costing, you include both the fixed and variable expenses in each
individual unit. When the units are priced, any profit margin is added on top ... Show

However, without including the fixed costs, it can be difficult to make decisions
based on variable costing data, since all of the information is not provided.
Companies apply different costing techniques to keep track of the production of
goods and services. Both absorption and costing techniques allow companies to
obtain a complete picture of their financial standing. The application of these two
methods allows the company to see everything from taxes and sales to inventories in
manufactured goods to the cost of all expenses within the organization. In other
words, both absorption and variable costing techniques give companies a more
accurate picture of how the company has performed financially.
Absorption Costing * Absorption costing is also called full costing or the full
absorption method. In absorption costing the company absorbs all of the
manufacturing costs by the products produced. This means the price of every piece
of finished inventory will include direct labor, direct materials and variable and fixed
manufacturing overhead. Some of these costs include wages for workers to produce
the product, materials used in producing a product and overhead costs. Absorption
costing is also used for external financial reporting and income tax reporting.
Advantage and Disadvantage of Absorption Costing * The advantage of using

The Four Stages Of Memory In The United States
States of Memory Memory is the nervous system s capacity to acquire and retain
skills and knowledge for later retrieval (Grison, 233).The three recognized stages of
memory are sensory, short term, and long term. Each of the stages have their own
individual characteristics. The first of the three stages, sensory, creates perceptual
continuity for the world around us (Grison, 239). The encoding for this stage is
experienced through an individual s senses, but the duration of the experience only
lasts a few seconds, depending on the sense (Grison, 239). Though the experience
only lasts a few seconds, the capacity of storage for the experience is vast due to
huge amount of sensory input (Grison, 239). Short termstorage maintains

It is a very effective stimulant. Yohimbine works by growing adrenaline levels in the

Pablo Picasso s Guernic Close Visual Analysis
Utilising, The Study Diamond: effects, techniques, context and meaning (The Open
University, 2013, p. 76), this essay will argue through close visual analysis from an
art history point of view that Picasso s Guernica is a form of protest. The essay will
also argue that Guernica s meaning has changed to include becoming a symbol of
peace and continues to fulfil its purpose as a form of protest.
A large mural, Guernica is an example of Synthetic Cubism painted by Pablo Picasso
(1881 1973). Created using the medium of oil paint on canvas with a narrow palette
consisting of the neutral hues: white, grey and black; the formalist qualities of
Guernica can have harrowing effects on the spectator, But to see it in real life, in its
full size, is an even stronger emotional experience. Some people have said they
experienced an instant rush of many powerful, fearful emotions (The Open
University, 2016, Block 3, 2.2.2).
Stark colour value distribution in Guernica s figures creates the effect of palpable
tension. Correspondingly, light grey contrasts with a dark grey or black
background. A feature of Synthetic Cubism, There ... colours are muted, often
virtually monochromatic greys or browns. Clarke (cited in The Open University,
2016, Block 3, 2.2.4). The doorway at the centre of Guernica depicts a figure
carrying a lamp illuminating a scene of carnage within. This distinct contrast of
colour enhances the effect of Guernica s dark corners and can evoke feelings of
impending doom.
Effects Of American Rebellion
Forms of Resistance: Rebellion
Throughout the three hundred years that slavery was exercised in the United States,
there were many forms of resistance to the horrors it entailed. Everything from acts of
sabotage, poor work, feigning illness, arson, poisoning, and running away to the
North were used to undermine the institution (Foner;Garraty). Perhaps one of the
most prolific and impactful forms of resistance to slavery were the numerous
rebellions and revolts (Foner;Garraty). Although many revolts were put down quickly
after their initiation, a select few significant political effects. The Gloucester
Conspiracy, the South Carolina Stono ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The men agreed on a plan to collect weapons and ammunition to lead a march to the
governor, Sir William Berkeley to request release from their indentures. This plan
was ultimately foiled by a servant and four conspirators were hanged and the
others arrested. The Gloucester County conspiracy was significant in a few
different ways. Firstly, the conspiracy staged a rebellion on a scale never before
imagined compared to the small acts of disobedience sometimes encountered with
servants. The revolt included weapons and enough intent and ambition to use
them, which may have caused a violent and bloody outcome. Secondly, the timing
of the conspiracy was in the middle of a transition from servitude to full
enslavement in the Virginia Colonies. The great demand for labor was at its high
point of the time and landowners desperately needed some form of it (Wolfe). This
is significant because although indentured servitude is not entirely slavery, the fact
that a group of people would be angry enough to harm or kill to attain freedom
scared many owners, and slavery would only cause greater anger. The 1739 Stono
Rebellion was arguably the bloodiest revolt in the history of colonial America and
was definitely one of the most frightening. By the end of the uprising, over sixty
people were dead and the South Carolina colony was left bewildered (Stono
Rebellion). Named the Stono Rebellion for its location

The Role of a Journalist
Role of Journalist Australian writer/journalist Karl Karus said it best when he said,
corruption is worse than prostitution. The latter might endanger the morals of an
individual, the former invariably endangers the morals of the entire country. For
decades, the United States has been one the most notable countries to come under fire
with reports of government corruption. During the dawn of the new millennium the
Transparency Corruption began to publish their Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI),
a culmination of assessments and opinion surveys by experts which rank countries
based on their perceived corruption. In 2012, the U.S ranked 19 out of 174
countries. Its often questioned how this report would vary had it been published
decades before when whistle blowers and journalist were striving to shed light onto
government corruption in the 50s , 60s, and 70s. Throughout the history of the
United States its been the responsibility of journalist and whistle blowers to report
dishonesty and injustice created by those in power. In a letter to Virginia statesman
Edward Carrington, President Thomas Jefferson shared his views on the press and
government. The basis of our governments being the opinion of the people, the very
first object should be to keep that right; and were it left to me to decide whether we
should have a government without newspapers or newspapers without a government,
I should not hesitate a moment to prefer the latter. Its been this

The Ethics Of The Treadway Commission ( Coso )
Business ethics refers to a code of morals that specify what form of conduct is
expected from an individual. For that reason was established a Code of Professional
Conduct which provides the set of principles to guide members of an organization in
performing their duties in professional and accountable way. Every member of an
organization from top to bottom is responsible to act in an ethical way. Members of
the company very often get involved in misconduct when management sets up
unrealistic objectives. Consequently employees are forced to reach these objectives
using any method possible. Final result justifies unethical conduct. Therefore a tone
at the top plays important role in creating ethical and accountable atmosphere in the
organization. Most importantly company should set up effective internal control. In
order to do that the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway
Commission (COSO) provides framework on how to design and evaluate internal
control. Internal control provides assistance in overseeing operations, compliance and
reporting of transactions, which is essential in achievement of objectives set by the
company . Internal control is made up of five components such as Control
Environment, Risk Assessment, Control Activities, Information and Communication,
and Monitoring Activities. Therefore in order for internal control run effectively and
for the company being able to achieve its objectives all five components should be

Linear Programming in Healthcare Systems
Linear Programming in Healthcare Systems: Linear programming is one of the
qualitative tools in the decision making process of Operations Research. Similar with
the other methods in Operations Research, linear programming consists of a series of
mathematical optimization and simulation means and models. Currently, the use of
linear programming in providing optimized solutions has helped in lessening costs
significantly across medium and large sized organizations in various industrialized
countries. As a result, many researchers state that the development of linear
programming model is one of the most important scientific developments in the
second part of the 20th Century. In the healthcare field, linear programming has
proven to be an alternative to various critical aspects such as planning brachytherapy,
in which it has replaced the conventional solutions depending on trial and error.
Moreover, linear programming method has been used develop balanced diets at lesser

His popular works
Ray Man became popular for the representations of his artistic works. He went on
to develop a career as a fashion photographer, capturing images for popular
magazines in Paris. While in France, he produced brilliant art works which are
today known as Rayogrammes images created on a piece of photographic paper
without a camera; the subject is placed directly on a piece of paper, light is exposed
then the image is produced. The shadow of the object is what produces the image,
which emphasizes the influence of the light and shadow instead of the importance of
the picture itself.
Another popular work from this period was Violin d Ingres in 1924. This
photograph featured the naked back of his lover, an actor known as Kiki, styled
after the painting by a French artist called Jean August Dominique. In a witty twist,
Man Ray drew two black shapes on her back to make it appear like musical
instruments. Ray made a number of short films between 1923 and 1929, creating
classic Surrealistic works like L Etoile de Mer, Emak Bakia, as well as Les Mysteres

The 7 Habits Of Highly Effective People By Stephen Covey
In the book The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen Covey, the reader is
led through habits that Covey has linked to the internal and external success of
individuals. These habits are split into categories that describe the shift from
dependence, independence, interdependence, then to maintenance and improvements.
The first stage to become an effective person involves proactivity, starting with an end
point, and putting first things first. The second part that involves working with others
focused on a win/win outcome, understanding someone before trying to be
understood, and synergizing. The last habit, sharpening the saw, is a continuous
process of learning and reflecting to become the best version of yourself. I found the

Each of the Illustrations carries with it a moral standpoint, all of which are important
to Bradbury. The Veldmakes a point that is still highly relevant today Although
technology is important, it is not so important that it should get in the way of family
life. It is an incredible piece of foresight by the author, as this is possibly the greatest
problem that we face socially today. Nearly 75% of households are connected to the
Internet, with around 80% possessing computers. This is the root of many problems,
especially obesity, as the Internet and computer games are the primary contributors to
unhealthy sedentary lifestyles. Bradbury exaggerates the effects that the technology
has for impact, with the parents dying as a result of relying so much on their house s
technological equipment, and not bothering to communicate with other human
beings. In Kaleidoscope, Bradbury explores not only the concept of death, but also
his belief that we must make the most of our lives when we have the chance,
because at the end, the only things we are left with are our memories. He sets it in
open space to illustrate this nothingness and loneliness, but the point that he makes is
just as relevant here on Earth. Carpe diem is shown in

Yemen s Water Crisis and the Pending Destabilization
Yemen s Water Crisis and the Pending Destabilization
The country of Yemen is on the verge of imploding due to a water crisis. When the
water runs out Yemen will destabilize and with it the entire Horn of Africa (HOA).
The United States has many ongoing militaristic, economic, and diplomatic interests
in the HOA. In order for the Horn of Africa to remain stable the United States needs
to take a different approach with its humanitarian efforts in Yemen, utilizing the full
support of the military. If delivery and implementation of humanitarian aid are not
planned and coordinated with full military operational support the process will be
doomed, as so many humanitarian efforts have been in the past. Specifically if the
water crisis in Yemen is not addressed it will destabilize the country causing increased
violent extremist activity and civil unrest. Without water for its people the Yemeni
government will be weakened allowing militant Islamic groups to regain power
within Yemen and the HOA, ultimately threatening the United States Homeland.
Look no further than the recent conflict in Syria as a prime example. Francesco

Essay Similarities between Greek and Egyptian Mythologies
The ancient world was comprised of mysteries. There were no scientific explanations
for the structure of the world, the existence of humans, or the meaning of life. To
explain these dilemmas they turned to religion and mythology. However, as were
often isolated geographically there was no universal answer to any of these questions,
though many cultures many have derived similar solutions to certain questions,
despite being separated by large physical distances, such as the Greeks and Egyptians.
Although there are minor differences, Greek and Egyptian mythologies share many
similarities.
One parallel between Greek and Egyptian creation stories is that they both begin
with a God or Gods being created from the universe. The creation of ... Show more

In Greek and Egyptian mythologies, there is a supreme God. In Greek tradition
this was Zeus, Zeus was now King of all the gods and lived on Mount Olympus.
(Corsar, Reid Rooney, and Smith 9) In Egyptian mythology, this position was first
held by Osiris, and the other deities herald him by saying He lives, the King of Upper
and Lower Egypt, beloved of Ra, living forever! Heir of Geb, Osiris, beloved of the
gods, Osiris, given life, endurance, joy, health, all happiness, like Ra! (Kaster 81)
After being murdered by Set, he became ruler of the Netherworld, and was replaced
as King of Upper and Lower Egypt, by his son, Horus. The idea of a supreme deity is
common in both Greek and Egyptian traditions.
Some Greek deities can also be identified with Egyptian ones, in particular the
Greek Dionysus and the Egyptian Osiris. They both preside over fertility, in
addition to their other duties. Another similarity is that they are both twice born.
Dionysus was born first from Semele s womb and then later from Zeus s thigh. Osiris
was the son of Geb and Nut and was resurrected by Isis after being murdered by Set.
(Livingston, Greek and Egyptian Religious Parallels) Other Gods and Goddesses
that are similar include Horus and Apollo, Isis and Demeter, Hathor and Aphrodite,
Neith and Athena and Bast and Artemis. (FOOTNOTE GREEK AND EGYPTIAN
RELIGIOUS PARALLELS) There appears to be an overlap between many deities in
Greek and Egyptian mythologies.
Ted Talk Debate Summary
Summary Ted Talk and Debate
I watched two videos about Mexico s drug cartel this week, a Ted Talk and a
debate on whether the U.S. is to blame for the Mexican Drug War. The Ted talk
focused on the business aspect of drug cartels, which is something that I don t hear
very often. The debate video was two teams debating to sway the audience s
opinion on whether the U.S. is to blame for the Mexican Drug Wars. While each
person had their own unique ideas, it seemed likely most or all of them agreed on
one point, and that was that the U.S. did share some of the responsibility for the
drug war. In both videos, they discussed the business side of the drug cartels. The
bulk of this conversation happened in the Ted Talk, although there were a few short
discussions in the main debate that I listened to. ... Show more content on

While it should be logical that an organization with the reach and profits that a drug
cartel has would have to have great organization or distribution/production routes, it
is not something that I have ever heard talked about before. Most of the time when
I think of drug gangs or cartels, I think of the (somewhat fake or cheesy) henchmen
you see in movies, or the small time, local gang members that you hear about on
the news. The highest person I had heard about was El Chapo, and even that was
focused more on his escape than his background or why he was in jail in the first
place. I also did not know that the U.S. has created such a huge demand for drugs,
and I feel like that is something that is not something that I would not have been
able to stumble across, so to speak. It completely surprised me that over 50% of the
world s drug demand has come from the United
Speech On Indian Diaspora
The Indian Diaspora today constitutes an important, to some extent unique, force in
world culture. It is estimated to be the second largest in the world. Colonialism
generated economic compulsions in the 19th century which paved the way for the
people of India to migrate to overseas. This is a unique diverse pattern compared to
any other Diaspora. Indians spread initially to the countries of Africa, Southeast
Asia, Fiji and the Caribbean and later to the Middle East, the U.S, Malaysia, and
South Africa. After the British abolished slavery, enormous demand for cheap
labour arose in 1833 1834. It was succeeded in the later 20th century, by a steady
outflow of some of the best professionals of India to the already developed
countries such as the US, Canada and Australia. Some of India s skilled and semi
skilled labour moved to West Asia and the Gulf in the 1970s in the wake of oil
boom. Today, the Indian Diaspora... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet some more precautionary measures need to be taken. The issue pertaining to
Culture: Cultural identity has manifested itself in every component of the Indian
Diaspora. The members of the Indian Diaspora are naturally keen to pass on their
value systems. India should also initiate constructive measures to ensure that the
Diaspora s pride and faith in its heritage is strengthened to revitalize its interests in
India s development. The Scope and Cultural centres in countries should be expended.
University scholarships for Diaspora students should be instituted, seats to be created
etc., the practice of festivals of India should be revived. Education
The Flaws In The Movie Kingdom Of Heaven
The movie Kingdom of Heaven is a very good movie. It is biased off of the
crusades more specifically the second crusade. However, no matter how good any
movie is there is always flaws, this one is no different. The amount of flaws I am
able to choose from is tremendous. I have categorized them into three main topics.
First I will be talking about the false things that have to do with Balian himself.
Next will be the weapons them self s and how they fire/are used and outcomes of
them. Last I will state many of the other false tings in the movie and back up why
they are false. In the movie there are many incorrect elements about Balian and
surrounding Balian. One of the larger issues I can see is that he is not from
France. As Helena P. Schrader says Balian was born in the crusader Kingdom of
Jerusalem. The movie started out with a scene of Balian burying his dead wife.
Several men ride by on horses and one says She was a suicide cut her head off... but
she really never committed suicide. However,... Show more content on

First up is the longbow, a great invention but sadly it was not yet of this time.
Believe it or not the long bow wasn t on the Europe main land until many years
after it was invented. According to Max Perham the longbow was invented by the
Celts in Wales around 1180, but was not really used by the English military until the
1300 s. Also according to Virginia Ream the army s attacking would not just
bombard the castle walls. There were people that would dig under the castle s walls
to weaken them then they would fire at that area to bring them down. I found more
information on this mining strategy on medieval castles.net. The large battle scenes
were almost funny on how the catapults and trebuchets they had fired. It looked more
like a cannon firing the projectiles. Nevertheless, these machines fire more like a
rainbow. You can find more information on this at
Types Of Online Communities Based On Individual s...
As one can differentiate levels of political jurisdictions in the physical into groups like
federal, state, and local domains, socio political jurisdictions can be separated
between differentiating online communities. Like the physical districts who have
different agendas that reflect each differing sovereignty, online communities differ in
political agendas, leanings, and goals in order to serve their community s needs.
There are many types of online communities based on individual s interests or identity
that allow for political discussions within their group. This includes fandoms. As one
takes an anecdotal glance at the fragmented groups online, it is not hard to find
fandom cultures around every corner. Fandoms can be described as an extraordinary
form of audiencing that includes everything from emotional attachment to performers
to obsessive collecting (Cavicchi, 2014). Since we entered the Internet age, fandom
has seen a change. What was previously considered to be obsessive and abnormal has
become an accepted common practice that is continually reinforced by niche
marketing and new technologies. Whether fandom of sports, media artifacts, or
celebrities, it is easy to lurk through each s unique language, culture, and community.
In one corner we find participants sharing Boromir memes, and we see fantasy
football players debated about player stats. While commonly, fandom community in
nature are designed to upheld a positive and fun conversation about the fandom
I Know The Lord Has Made This Possible For Me
Thank you for this great opportunity to volunteer at Teen Challenge. I know the
Lord has made this possible for me. Speaking of libraries, I have identified some
factors that in my opinion can greatly enhance the use of the library by students and
staff members. If I understand you correctly, your desire is for the libraryto be
frequently visited by the students and staff of Teen Challenge.
The challenge, in this case, is to establish a library that serves the needs of students
and staff member of Teen Challenge. Teen Challenge is a very strong organization by
God s grace with very high Christian, ethical and moral standards. Additionally, it has
a space available that can be turned into a more than adequate reading and studying
space.
However, there are some factors that are by nature opposing the achievement of the
goal of sustainability and frequent use of students and staff. Because of this, it is
highly recommended that steps be considered in order to assure success for the
present and the future of this very important project.
Firstly, the designation of a librarian is vital for continuing the duties of managing
collections (books, periodical, articles, newspapers, magazines, DVD, CD, etc.),
program development; obtaining, analyzing and reporting the feedback from patrons.
A successful library is one who is able to determine the needs of its patrons and
satisfy those needs and wants by structuring operations accordingly.
Secondly, a library is no longer a
Angelou’s Poetry Explores Various Sides of the
Human...
The definition of the human condition is that it encompasses the unique features of
being human without having to consider one s gender, race, culture or class. It
captures the unalterable part of humanity that is inherent and innate to human beings.
This consists of concerns such as the meaning of life, the search for gratification, the
sense of curiosity, the inevitability of isolation or awareness regarding the
inescapability of death. It can be summed up as the fundamental issues of human
existence. My personal perspective on what the human conditionis, is the state we are
in. It refers to what we need as humans and the experiences we go through for
instants the need for basic necessities like food, shelter, drugs, sex etc. We want to...

The poem The Lesson discusses some of the outcomes and the title suggests they
know it s harmful yet they keep doing it.
The structure of this particular poem is all in one with no single stanza s. This is
done purposely to emphasise how there are no breaks or stops when taking drugs.
Once you take them, it s hard quitting and people don t stop to think, they just carry
on. The first line, I keep on dying again shows how people know what they re doing
and how it s affecting them and by the use of again , it s clear they are occasionally
experiencing it. It doesn t just affect their physical appearance but their insides
too.Their Veins collapse , showing how by each take they are decaying within and
how they are slowing down and on to the same pace as children opening their

damaging the insides of our bodies yet those addicts still carry on. Angelou
emphasises how they simply don t care as the idea of old tombs, Rotting flesh and
worms is not enough to make them think twice. After taking them for a long period
of time, it s becomes evident on the physical side for example the lines along the
face which is marking the long years of taking drugs. It s symbolising the desperate
need for humans to escape reality and take them to a place similar to heaven. Angelou
ends this poem with the voice admitting they will keep taking it despite what

The article confirms that given the growth of the MNE, it is important that strategic
planning is used cautiously in order to better the organisations performance. The
article also states that growth of the firm was managed by disciplined financial plans
and this involved tight controls on costs. Correct staffing arrangements and allowing
British executives to be autonomous greatly improved the firms success during the
testing times of the global
Page 2 financial crisis, which struck just a year after the deal was made. Polycentric
policies as adopted by Tata focus on market driven strategies that build on the firms
competitive advantage: its reputation. By ensuring local executives remain in charge
of their British counterparts, employees were well informed and experienced in their
areas of expertise and as previously mentioned this ensures efficiency and thus
increases and maintains productivity.
A key opportunity expressed in the article was Jaguar Land Rovers interest in the
Chinese marketplace. Much of the companies new found success was created
through Chinese retail sales. In previous years China represented only 1% of total
sales for Jaguar Land Rover. Nevertheless head executives project that not only will
sales continue to rise, the country will also become the firms largest market within
the coming years.

The Issue Of Elder Abuse And Neglect
The issue of elder abuse and neglect is a significant health care issue, that need to be
brought to the attention of society. Seniors who stay at home or in nursing homes
are at more risk. Nurses should be aware of the signs and symptoms as well as
resources in the community. By having a better understanding of these issues, nurses
can recognize problems and help prevent the devastating effects of elderly abuse.
Every elderly deserved the right to be treated with respect and protect from all type
of abuse (American Psychological Association, 2006; Lee, 2007). Significant
progress have been made in the past five years toward eliminating violence against
older adults. However, the lack of knowledge and clinical skills in health care

This dramatic case was known as the Granny battering . This shocked the health
care industry. Bt the end of the decade, studies confirmed that United States was
addressed with a similar problem as well (AMA, 2015). In the 1990s, the Elder
Abuse Task Force was established by the Secretary of the U.S. Department of
Health and Human Services. The task force developed an action plan for identifying
and preventing elder from being mistreated in health care setting. A National
Institute on Elder Abuse was established in 1991 as part of the Administration on
Aging s Elder Care Campaign. Adult Protective Service programs now exist in each
state to serve vulnerable adults, especially seniors who are at high risk of being
abuse and neglect (AMA, 2015). Such actions have been brought to the attention of
the public and physician concerning elderly abuse and neglect. Researchers have
conducted studies to assess the scope and causes of mistreatment among the elderly
(AMA, 2015). Laws have been enacted in each state for physicians and others to
report suspected cases. The Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare
Organizations (JCAHO) for emergency departments and their ambulatory care centers

These signatures communicate a balance of intellect and intuition in Syracuse s

I look to Syracuse because of the people whom I have met that actuate the university s
philosophies on every level. On the national and international stages I have seen
Syracuse faculty, students, and alumni influence the direction of our profession.
Locally, as I found on my visit to the program, these same people are humble and
willing mentors who truly value one on one human connection and collaboration.
Following the body of Syracuse s community member s work, publications, and

Striving to uphold and forward Syracuse University ideals at the Ph.D. level takes
large financial and time investments from both student and institution. Thus, Syracuse
shows its dedication to forwarding its mission by offering assistantships and

The Battle of Yorktown
The Battle of Yorktown or better known as the Siege of Yorktown was the final
battle in the American Revolution. The battle took place in Yorktown, Virginia in
1781. The battle lasted from September 28th 1781 and October 19th 1781. The
American and French forces were lead by George Washington, Comte de
Rochambeau, and Comte de Grasse. The conflict was caused due to many events
like the Boston Massacre and The Boston Tea Party but was reinforced by how the
British were treating the people of America and raising their taxes. The men look
to their leaders for guidance and motivation. The people of America looked up to
George Washington because of his military knowledge and his keen and sneaky
tactics. General George Washington learned that Lieutenant General Lord Charles
Cornwallis army was encamped near Yorktown, VA. After discussing options with
his French ally, Lieutenant General Jean Baptiste Ponton de Rochambeau,
Washington decided to quietly move his army away from New York City with the
goal of capturing and making a blockade around Cornwallis force. General
Cornwallis. The French and American men are to siege and contain the
surrounding area until either death or surrender by the British. This battle was a
success in the American point of view. They were able to capture and siege
Yorktown with minimal losses. In total only 88 allies were killed which was
significantly very good. What I would do differently would be I would be fighting

Economic Policies Pave The Roadway For How America
Operates
Main Themes
Economic policies pave the roadway for how America operates. It determines the
successfulness of the country or the downfall. When we look at today s biggest
problems such as; social security, globalization, poverty, immigration, etc. there is a
common theme. That is, that the state of our economy impacts all them.
In the book, Crunch: Why Do I Feel So Squeezed (And Other Unsolved Economic
Mysteries)? Written by Jared Bernstein, he delves into exactly how the economy
can tie together so many aspects of our daily lives. He does a great job of explaining
that ordinary citizens are affected by economics just as much as, if not more than, top
leaders.
The main themes that the book focuses on is why certain institutions like our
healthcare system are failing. He also investigates why the middle class was hit the
hardest by the 2007 recession. He concluded that economics is about power, and the
middle class did not hold any. Another main theme he comes back to is that
economics has been hijacked by the rich and powerful, and they do not have regard
for the everyday people .
Everything from tax cuts to rising educations costs was not done with the middle
class in mind. However, they are the ones who are hit the hardest with it. The middle
class is expected to keep up with trends such as obtaining a higher education, taking
out mortgages for new houses and seeking out childcare. But, yet due to inflation,
incomes are not being raised enough to meet these
Three Reasons Why Prostituiton Should Not Be Leagalized
in...
As one of the oldest jobs, prostitution has a long history to be repeatedly
decriminalized and internalized by different countries. In Sumerian Records, the
earliest record established in 2400 BC, prostitution had been legalized and supported
by government. Same as most countries in this era, government founded brothels
established in ancient China, ancient Greece, ancient Roman and so on. Codex
Theodosianus established in 438 AD, legalized prostitutionand at the same time,
asking for taxes. Since the late 500s to 1600, countries such as Spain, France and
Italy ended being tolerant towards prostitution and increased the punishment towards
prostitutes and pimps. In 1617, Japan created the red light district on the edge of the
city which is today s Tokyo to gather all legal brothels together. After 1800,
prostitution has been repeatedly decriminalized and criminalized in Europe, America
and Japan. Nowadays, many countries, most notable as Netherland, and Germany,
have legalized and regulated the sex industry, including prostitution, brothel, pimping.
Countries like Canada and Brazil, legalized prostitution and kept prohibiting brothel.
Sweden, has taken a different legal approach illegalize consuming for sex while at
the same time legalize prostitutes. In countries such as Saudi Arabia, and Dubai,
prostitution has been strictly illegalized and punished by prison and flogging.
Indeed, all sexual activity except lawful marriage for the purpose of reproduction is
forbidden
My Teaching Philosophy Of Teaching For Physical
Education
EPE 100 has not only taught me so much about becoming a teacher but a ton about
myself. Prior to EPE 100, I felt as though I had a solid understanding of what it
meant to be a physical education teacher. Do a quick warm up, Rally the students, put
them into teams, explain the rules and let them go at it. Man oh man was I wrong.
Throughout readings, assignments, and practice I now believe to have a much better
understanding of what it means to be a physical educationteacher. There has been
three major ideas that have begun to influence my teachingphilosophy; Teaching for
physical literacy and skill development not just sports, embracing physical activity
as a lifelong journey and challenging all students inside and outside of the
classroom. These three concepts are very important to me as I begin my teaching
career and are the three highlights in which I took out of EPE 100. It took me a
very poor micro teaching experience to finally understand that physical education
is truly about more than just sports. You learn more from failure, than you do from
success this is a quote that I hear very often from various coaches and teachers. I
think this perfectly sums up my micro teaching experience, while it was not a
completely failure it served as a very important lesson to me. It was not until I was
placed into a teaching situation that I fully realised not everyone is going to excell,
and that one cannot expect the whole class to be able to pick up a sport in one
lesson. Nick
crtical analysis on the island by athol fugard
Imperialism is the forceful extension of a nation s authority by territorial conquest or
by establishing economic and political domination of other nations that are not its
colonies. In various forms, imperialism may be as old as humanity. In the
prehistorical world (before written history began), clan groups extended their territory
and dominated others, competing against them for food and resources. Negatively,
many cultures have suffered due to imperial domination since the dominant have
often regarded themselves as superior and have neglected, or even deliberately
destroyed, indigenous cultures.
Yet, an interesting aspect of imperialism is that empires, both ancient and modern,
have also tended to regard themselves as spreading ... Show more content on

WHEN DID IT BECOME ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT IN EUROPE?
WHAT WERE AMONG ITS CONSEQUENCES? IN WHICH AREAS
Socialism, as envisioned by Marx and Engels was, ideally, a where everyone would
share the benefits of industrialization. Workers would do better than in the English
system at the time (The Communist Manifesto was published in 1848) because
there were more workers than bosses and the majority would rule. As a purely
economic system, socialism is a lousy way to run a large scale economy. Socialism
is not a political system, it s a way of distributing goods and services. At their ideal
implementation, socialism and laissez faire capitalism will be identical as everyone
will produce exactly what s needed for exactly who needs it. In practice, both work
sometimes in microeconomic conditions but fail miserably when applied to national
and international economies. And they fail for the same reason: Human pervserity.
Too many people don t like to play fair, and both systems only work when everyone
follow the same rules.
Socialism is liberal. More people (preferably everyone) have some say in how the
economy works. Democracy is liberal. More people (preferably everyone) have
some say in how the government works. Democracy, said Marx, is the road to
socialism. He was wrong about how economics and politics interact, but he did see
their similar underpinnings.
Communism is conservative. Fewer and fewer
Personal Narrative On Social Conflict
Personal Narrative: Social Conflict
It would have been easy to resolve had either one of us wanted to end the squabble.
Looking back, it is unbelievable to me that I acted the way I did. Again and again
the situation runs through my mind, unveiling new ends to the argument. It was a
perfect example of similar scenes playing themselves out all over the world the most
basic level of social conflict we have, the easiest to resolve.
I d challenge anyone to speak out if he or she has not argued over trivial matters
with his or her loved ones and closest friends. These relationships cannot be broken,
just like a coastline never really disappears, even though both are subject to terrible
pressures. I had been studying for the past ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People with whom we share mutual love and trust are willing to resolve conflicts that
do not in the long term mean too much.
That scenario does not repeat itself everywhere. Social conflicts can occur when
neither party can see nor wants to see the resolution. Some fights are not based on
trivial matters. For example, we have the unresolved black white supremacy battle. It
has not been made any better in two hundred years, when we can estimate the contact
between the two to have begun. Efforts have been made, but the conflict between
white and black is not something that, I think, will ever evaporate. It is a deep
rooted cultural conflict. This type of conflict can manifest itself in many ways. We
see it every day in America s truly cosmopolitan society: skin color; accent
differences and so on and so on. I myself have plenty of first hand experience with
this particular category, as I have lived abroad for over nine years. One thing that
has dogged my family and me is the fact that Indian cooking generates a lot of
smoke. Thick, filmy smoke that always fills a room, no matter the length of time
cooking was done. Often, cultural conflicts bring about racial slurs in our everyday
language. Whether it is the British deriding the foolish Irishman or the French doing
the same to a remarkably Irish sounding Belgian these slurs can become a routine and
the conflict can

  • 2. Sprite Commercial The first video that I found was a commercial for Sprite s new campaign, You Define Yourself . For the commercial they hired a model that has vitiligo, Chantelle Winnie Harlow. She first made her presence in the fashion world being a contestant on Cycle 21 of America s Next Top Model. Although she did not win the contest, many people and companies loved her and found her look to be very unique. Since being on ANTM she has modeled for brands such as: Desigual, Diesel, Swarovski and has been featured in magazines such as: Glamour, Complex, Cosmopolitan and Vogue Italia. In the commercial she speaks about how her first step in trying to get her career started she had a fake it til you make it attitude and she had to exude confidence that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the video they show a city that has been deserted. After a while you start to see people, but they are blending in with the backgrounds of where they are standing or sitting. Some blended into brick walls, wall paper, buses, billboards, park benches and a variety of other things. One man pulls a Sprite out of his bag, takes a sip and then realizes that he does not have to blend into the wall. He proceeds to take of his clothing, which is the same color as the wall and remove the paint from his face until he is wondering around in his underwear. He wonders around the city until he runs into this attractive woman and he sees she has realized that same thing because her clothes are removed and she has a Sprite in her hand. They then smile at each other and that s how the commercial ended. For this commercial there were both good and bad comments. The positive comments talked about how cool it was to have a camo theme for bringing out how unique everyone is and the negative, in my opinion missed the entire message of the video and wrote about how tacky and disrespectful it was to have people removing their
  • 3. Life Of Pi Figurative Language Essay An author s use of figurative language enables a better understanding of the story and its characters. Yann Martel s use of metaphor and allegory in his novel Life of Pi gives a better insight into Pi and his story. The events of Pi s journey are not necessarily to be taken literally; instead, it is important to think about what they represent. Pi s ordeal itself and the experiences and places he encounters on the way are fantastical concepts that symbolize realistic themes. Examples of Martel s use of figurative language are the island and Richard Parker s presence on the boat. The algae island symbolizes spiritual death and the dangers of complacency. When Pi first sees it, he believes it is a delusion. He is overjoyed at finding land, and he believes it is his salvation. Pi begins to recuperate, [spending] the following days eating and drinking and bathing and observing the meerkats and walking and running and resting and growing stronger. [His] running [becomes] smooth . . . [His] skin heal[s]. [His] aches and pains [leave] [him] . . . [he] return[s] to life. (Martel 269) After getting over the original fears and doubts that come with the discovery of the island, he gradually becomes comfortable too comfortable. He returns to life, and even says that had he not found the teeth in the tree, he might have lived for years [or] for the rest of [his] life on that island. (279) Pi even manages to train Richard Parker, to literally make him jump through hoops.
  • 4. The Cause Of Tornadoes In The United States A tornado is a violent windstorm that cause destruction of buildings, houses, cars, roads, and many more important things. Tornadoes happen mostly between the rocky mountains and appalachian mountains which is why they are also known as tornado alley. They have the most tornadoes each year in the U.S. Just because tornadoes occur most in tornadoalley that does not mean there aren t tornadoes anywhere else. As a matter of fact no place is safe, tornadoes can happen anywhere in America. The cause of Tornadoes are hot temperatures, cold temperatures, and humidity all coming together. The warm air rises, but at the same time the two fronts are meeting, the cold air barricades the warm air beneath it. The warm air is trapped below
  • 5. How To Raise Thermostat When the central air conditioner breaks down, it s a good time to step back and think of ways to save money on air conditioning costs in the future. People can come to forget that central air is a convenience that was uncommon until the 1970s. Even in a hot climate, it s possible to reduce one s reliance on central air. Implement some strategies to bring your utility bills down while not sacrificing comfort. Gradually Raise the Thermostat Temperature If you already keep your thermostat set in the high 70s or higher in the summertime, that s commendable. If you tend to set it lower than that, start gradually raising it until you feel comfortable at a higher temperature. You don t have to make the leap from 73 degrees to 78 degrees in one day.
  • 6. Disunity Of The Labour Party Essay the conservatives dominated in the years 1951 to 1964 partly as a result of the disunity of the Labour party at this time, but also as a result of the strength of their leadership amongst other advantages that the Conservative party had over Labour at this time. For example, the peacetime economic boom that they were able to take advantage of. The Labour disunity also had knock effects like Labour being unable to take advantage of the Suez crisis. One way in which the disunity of labour helped the conservatives to remain dominant in these years was how the ideological and personal splits between Bevan and Gaitskell created an extremely divided party with deep rifts within it. These splits were mainly ideological as Bevan was more left wing... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Macmillan can also be seen as a strong leader by the way that he was viewed, earning the nickname supermac . He undoubtably had popularity and support from the public partly due to his unflappable nature. admittedly towards then end of his prime ministership he became less popular due to the rise of satire and political scandals such as the Profumo affair. Nevertheless, this still shows how their dominance can also be put down to the party s strong leadership in being able to take advantage of an incredibly disunited Labour. Another way in which they were able to do this was by creating a united conservative front bench. This can be seen by any disagreements between cabinet members were never made public. Therefore, as a result of this the conservatives were able to gain more support from the public due to the fact that they were offering a united party whereas Labour was not. It can also be argued that their leadership was also able to judge the mood of the country in this period. This is as after Attlee s government Churchill captured the mood of the country, which was that the public wanted more freedom as is seen by the film from this era passport to
  • 7. Understanding Gerlad s Writings Giraldus Cambrensis, known more commonly as Gerald of Wales, was a complex mix of nationalities far greater than his name implies. Understanding Gerlad s writings of The History and Topography of Ireland and The Journey Through Wales and the Description of Wales can only be done when analyzed in context. It is vital to evaluate how his diverse background and calculated reasons for the descriptions of the Welsh and Irish peopleinfluenced his writing. And furthermore, it is imperative to use Gerald s writings to consider if his writings accurately reflect English attitudes of Ireland and Wales. Interpreting Gerald and determining if his writings reflected views of the English is not a simple answer. To answer the question, Gerald himself must be categorized. While being one quarter Welsh from his grandmother, a Princess of Wales, he had a variety of life experiences that classify him as something else (Gransden 160). He studied in France, at the University of Paris making him highly educated and well traveled for the time (Clarke 98). In addition to this he was also a Cambro Norman Archdeacon of Brecon, a Welsh title for an ecclesiastical officer of the Church and had ties to the Norman wave of immigrants in Wales (Gransden 160). While the words clearly convey demeaning attitude toward the Irish in Ulster, confirmation of kingship establishes that the Irish have a ritualistic type religion in the area. This implied lack of religion furthers the idea for the Cambro Normans to conquer the people for their own religious well being and bring them into Christianity. Server clustering and cloud computing are the latest technology used in the world widely. A cluster a parallel or distributed system that consists of a collection of interconnected computer systems or servers that is used as a single unified computing unit. Members of a cluster are referred to as nodes or systems. The invention of Cloud computing has helped in ever faster and ever cheaper computaВ¬tion. Analysis пЃ®Cluster A Cluster is defined as a group of independent server (nodes) in a computer system, which are accessed and presented as a single system and in turn enables high availability and, in few cases, cluster also plays important role in load balancing and parallel processing. Since it is hard to predict the number of requests that will be allocated to a networked server, clustering also plays vital role for load balancing to distribute processing and communications activity consistently across a network system so that no particular server is overloaded. Server clusters can be used to make sure that users have constant access to important server based resources. Types: Server clusters are of three types, depending on how the nodes are connected to the devices that store the cluster configuration and state data. This plan was ultimately foiled by a servant and four conspirators were hanged and the others arrested. The Gloucester County conspiracy was significant in a few different ways. Firstly, the conspiracy staged a rebellion on a scale never before imagined compared to the small acts of disobedience sometimes encountered with servants. The revolt included weapons and enough intent and ambition to use them, which may have caused a violent and bloody outcome. Secondly, the timing of the conspiracy was in the middle of a transition from servitude to full enslavement in the Virginia Colonies. The great demand for labor was at its high point of the time and landowners desperately needed some form of it (Wolfe). This is significant because although indentured servitude is not entirely slavery, the fact that a group of people would be angry enough to harm or kill to attain freedom scared many owners, and slavery would only cause greater anger. It is an incredible piece of foresight by the author, as this is possibly the greatest problem that we face socially today. Nearly 75% of households are connected to the Internet, with around 80% possessing computers. This is the root of many problems, especially obesity, as the Internet and computer games are the primary contributors to unhealthy sedentary lifestyles. Bradbury exaggerates the effects that the technology has for impact, with the parents dying as a result of relying so much on their house s technological equipment, and not bothering to communicate with other human beings. In Kaleidoscope, Bradbury explores not only the concept of death, but also his belief that we must make the most of our lives when we have the chance, because at the end, the only things we are left with are our memories. He sets it in open space to illustrate this nothingness and loneliness, but the point that he makes is just as relevant here on Earth. Carpe diem is shown in

When the water runs out Yemen will destabilize and with it the entire Horn of Africa (HOA). The United States has many ongoing militaristic, economic, and diplomatic interests in the HOA. In order for the Horn of Africa to remain stable the United States needs to take a different approach with its humanitarian efforts in Yemen, utilizing the full support of the military. If delivery and implementation of humanitarian aid are not planned and coordinated with full military operational support the process will be doomed, as so many humanitarian efforts have been in the past. In Greek and Egyptian mythologies, there is a supreme God. In Greek tradition this was Zeus, Zeus was now King of all the gods and lived on Mount Olympus. (Corsar, Reid Rooney, and Smith 9) In Egyptian mythology, this position was first held by Osiris, and the other deities herald him by saying He lives, the King of Upper and Lower Egypt, beloved of Ra, living forever! Heir of Geb, Osiris, beloved of the gods, Osiris, given life, endurance, joy, health, all happiness, like Ra! (Kaster 81) After being murdered by Set, he became ruler of the Netherworld, and was replaced as King of Upper and Lower Egypt, by his son, Horus. The idea of a supreme deity is common in both Greek and Egyptian traditions. Some Greek deities can also be identified with Egyptian ones, in particular the Greek Dionysus and the Egyptian Osiris. They both preside over fertility, in addition to their other duties. Another similarity is that they are both twice born. Dionysus was born first from Semele s womb and then later from Zeus s thigh. Osiris was the son of Geb and Nut and was resurrected by Isis after being murdered by Set. (Livingston, Greek and Egyptian Religious Parallels) Other Gods and Goddesses that are similar include Horus and Apollo, Isis and Demeter, Hathor and Aphrodite, Neith and Athena and Bast and Artemis. Another main theme he comes back to is that economics has been hijacked by the rich and powerful, and they do not have regard for the everyday people . Everything from tax cuts to rising educations costs was not done with the middle class in mind. However, they are the ones who are hit the hardest with it. The middle class is expected to keep up with trends such as obtaining a higher education, taking out mortgages for new houses and seeking out childcare. But, yet due to inflation, incomes are not being raised enough to meet these
  • 55. Three Reasons Why Prostituiton Should Not Be Leagalized in... As one of the oldest jobs, prostitution has a long history to be repeatedly decriminalized and internalized by different countries. In Sumerian Records, the earliest record established in 2400 BC, prostitution had been legalized and supported by government. Same as most countries in this era, government founded brothels established in ancient China, ancient Greece, ancient Roman and so on. Codex Theodosianus established in 438 AD, legalized prostitutionand at the same time, asking for taxes. Since the late 500s to 1600, countries such as Spain, France and Italy ended being tolerant towards prostitution and increased the punishment towards prostitutes and pimps. In 1617, Japan created the red light district on the edge of the city which is today s Tokyo to gather all legal brothels together. After 1800, prostitution has been repeatedly decriminalized and criminalized in Europe, America and Japan. Nowadays, many countries, most notable as Netherland, and Germany, have legalized and regulated the sex industry, including prostitution, brothel, pimping. Countries like Canada and Brazil, legalized prostitution and kept prohibiting brothel. Sweden, has taken a different legal approach illegalize consuming for sex while at the same time legalize prostitutes. In countries such as Saudi Arabia, and Dubai, prostitution has been strictly illegalized and punished by prison and flogging. Indeed, all sexual activity except lawful marriage for the purpose of reproduction is forbidden
  • 56. My Teaching Philosophy Of Teaching For Physical Education EPE 100 has not only taught me so much about becoming a teacher but a ton about myself. Prior to EPE 100, I felt as though I had a solid understanding of what it meant to be a physical education teacher. Do a quick warm up, Rally the students, put them into teams, explain the rules and let them go at it. Man oh man was I wrong. Throughout readings, assignments, and practice I now believe to have a much better understanding of what it means to be a physical educationteacher. There has been three major ideas that have begun to influence my teachingphilosophy; Teaching for physical literacy and skill development not just sports, embracing physical activity as a lifelong journey and challenging all students inside and outside of the classroom. These three concepts are very important to me as I begin my teaching career and are the three highlights in which I took out of EPE 100. It took me a very poor micro teaching experience to finally understand that physical education is truly about more than just sports. You learn more from failure, than you do from success this is a quote that I hear very often from various coaches and teachers. I think this perfectly sums up my micro teaching experience, while it was not a completely failure it served as a very important lesson to me. It was not until I was placed into a teaching situation that I fully realised not everyone is going to excell, and that one cannot expect the whole class to be able to pick up a sport in one lesson. • 57. crtical analysis on the island by athol fugard Imperialism is the forceful extension of a nation s authority by territorial conquest or by establishing economic and political domination of other nations that are not its colonies. In various forms, imperialism may be as old as humanity. In the prehistorical world (before written history began), clan groups extended their territory and dominated others, competing against them for food and resources. Negatively, many cultures have suffered due to imperial domination since the dominant have often regarded themselves as superior and have neglected, or even deliberately destroyed, indigenous cultures. Yet, an interesting aspect of imperialism is that empires, both ancient and modern, have also tended to regard themselves as spreading ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... WHEN DID IT BECOME ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT IN EUROPE? WHAT WERE AMONG ITS CONSEQUENCES? IN WHICH AREAS Socialism, as envisioned by Marx and Engels was, ideally, a where everyone would share the benefits of industrialization. Workers would do better than in the English system at the time (The Communist Manifesto was published in 1848) because there were more workers than bosses and the majority would rule. As a purely economic system, socialism is a lousy way to run a large scale economy. Socialism is not a political system, it s a way of distributing goods and services. At their ideal implementation, socialism and laissez faire capitalism will be identical as everyone will produce exactly what s needed for exactly who needs it. In practice, both work sometimes in microeconomic conditions but fail miserably when applied to national and international economies. And they fail for the same reason: Human pervserity. Too many people don t like to play fair, and both systems only work when everyone follow the same rules. Socialism is liberal. More people (preferably everyone) have some say in how the economy works. Democracy is liberal. More people (preferably everyone) have some say in how the government works. Democracy, said Marx, is the road to socialism. He was wrong about how economics and politics interact, but he did see their similar underpinnings. Communism is conservative. Fewer and fewer
  • 58. Personal Narrative On Social Conflict Personal Narrative: Social Conflict It would have been easy to resolve had either one of us wanted to end the squabble. Looking back, it is unbelievable to me that I acted the way I did. Again and again the situation runs through my mind, unveiling new ends to the argument. It was a perfect example of similar scenes playing themselves out all over the world the most basic level of social conflict we have, the easiest to resolve. I d challenge anyone to speak out if he or she has not argued over trivial matters with his or her loved ones and closest friends. These relationships cannot be broken, just like a coastline never really disappears, even though both are subject to terrible pressures. I had been studying for the past ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People with whom we share mutual love and trust are willing to resolve conflicts that do not in the long term mean too much. That scenario does not repeat itself everywhere. Social conflicts can occur when neither party can see nor wants to see the resolution. Some fights are not based on trivial matters. For example, we have the unresolved black white supremacy battle. It has not been made any better in two hundred years, when we can estimate the contact between the two to have begun. Efforts have been made, but the conflict between white and black is not something that, I think, will ever evaporate. It is a deep rooted cultural conflict. This type of conflict can manifest itself in many ways. We see it every day in America s truly cosmopolitan society: skin color; accent differences and so on and so on. I myself have plenty of first hand experience with this particular category, as I have lived abroad for over nine years. One thing that has dogged my family and me is the fact that Indian cooking generates a lot of smoke. Thick, filmy smoke that always fills a room, no matter the length of time cooking was done. Often, cultural conflicts bring about racial slurs in our everyday language. Whether it is the British deriding the foolish Irishman or the French doing the same to a remarkably Irish sounding Belgian these slurs can become a routine and the conflict can
