Acetaminophen Theory
Description of Disease and Underlying theory
Acetaminophen, once ingested into the body is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract
into the blood stream where it reaches peak plasma concentration in as little as half an hour. Here,
it circulates around the body for a period of up to 4 hours during which it produces its analgesic
and antipyretic effects before the acetaminophen is metabolised and deactivated by the liver by a
possible 3 pathways: Glucuronidation, sulfation and oxidation (Show below in Figure 2). The most
commonly used pathway is the glucuronidation metabolism, closely followed by the sulfation
pathway. These methods of metabolism deactivate the acetaminophen in the hepatocytes into non
toxic conjugated sulphate and glucuronide which are excreted in the urine [23] [24]. The majority
of the initially ingested therapeutic dosage is metabolised this way, with the remaining
acetaminophen being metabolised via the third hepatic cytochrome P45 oxidase pathway, primarily
by the enzyme CYP2E1 [25]. When acetaminophen is metabolised via this method, a small amount
of a highly reactive toxic intermediate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ethical Ramifications Of Cloning
Cloning has been around since 1952 when Robert Briggs and Thomas King externally fertilized
and developed a leopard frog using somatic cell nuclear transfer. Though scientists had discussed the
need for communication about the ethical ramifications of cloning since as early as 1972, it was
not until the successful cloningof a sheep named Dolly in 1997 that cloning came to the forefront of
scientific and societal discussion. As a result of the continuity of fast paced scientific discovery, the
issues surrounding cloning of both animals and humans remain a hot topic, with people divided on
both sides of the controversy.

The American Of American Literature
American literature is the literature written or produced in the area of the United States and its
receding colonies. American literature as a whole is the written literary work, and the new England
colonies were the center of early American literature. American drama attained international status
only in the 1920s and 1930s, with the works of Eugene O Neil, who won four Pulitzer prizes and
the Noble prize. During the Middle of the 20th century, American drama was dominated by the
works of eminent playwright Tennessee Williams and Arthur Miller, as well as by the maturation of
the American music. American literature is a branch of English literature and independent subject.
American society is composed of different races and ethnicities, as suggested by the name of a title,
and information on different trends, movements, styles and subject themes of American literature.

founded, to observe them in our daily life and fight for them . New bold Morris.

Causes anf Results of Communism in Eastern and Central Europe
Communism was one of the political theories founded by Friedrich Engels and Karl Marx in the
end of the 19th century . Both of these philosophers had the same point of view concerning the
economic and political principles. Also, Communism brought up many changes to International
Relations , and the body of the essay will describe the causes and results of Communismin Eastern
and central Europe. In 1844 Engel and Marx started to discover interesting facts about
Communism and no longer in 1848 they decided to write and publish Communism Manifesco ,
which was thought to be one of the best and influential political books ever. Under Communism

A lot of countries were influenced by the Communism. Among them are: Eastern German and
Poland, The Communism in Poland lasted for forty years that brought a new and specific
changes in the government at the end of the Second World War. Poland had a really complicated
situation because of Iosef Stalin and his Communist Party. He described his points of view in a
very clear way, Imposing Communism on Poland was as absurd as putting a saddle on a cow .
Moreover ,everything was under control of the Polish Government of Stalin, including a lot of
spheres as culture, social aspects of life and economy. As government had all the power in their
hands, people were absolutely deprived of power. That kind of period was strongly disliked by
people and brought a lot of strikes, protections and even attacks. As the result, the Communism
system had a bad influence on the development of Poland. Eastern German was also under the
Communism regime. The historic German capital of Berlin, although in the East was a special

History of Ancient China Essay
History of Ancient China
China is located in East Asia. Ancient China is surrounded by Gobi Desert in the north, the Pacific
Ocean in the east, the Himalayan Mountains in the southwest, and the Taklimakan desert in the
west. This land has a wide variation of animals because of the different habitats provided for them.
Most farming was done in the very fertile lands of the Yangtze valley. Present China is much bigger
than Ancient China, which means that over time, the kings and different dynasties went gaining
more and more land and wealth. All of the major rivers go in a western to eastern direction, and
end up in the Pacific Ocean. The two major rivers of China are the Yangtze and the Huan He. The

China started having a government in the Shang dynasty. They ruled what would now be
Henan, Hubei, Shandong and part of Anhui. The Shang were an aristocratic society, or a
heredity ruling class. This dynasty was also the first to leave written records. The principal
Shang city was Anyang, it was in a clearance deep inside the forest. In 1027 BC, the Zhou
overthrew the Shang and made their own dynasty. They were both very alike, and there was not
much change in culture. But the Zhou brought up many fresh ideas, which would seem obvious
because all people think in different ways, and have different solutions to their problems. As an
excuse of overthrowing the Shang, they said that the last Shang king had done so badly, that the
gods weren t satisfied, so they decided to let the Zhou rule. This is a part of the mandate of
heaven, which meant that the ruler had approval from the gods. The Zhou dynasty also
appointed lands to nobles and members of the king s family, these nobles were granted land, but
the land wasn t theirs, because it all belonged to the king, this was called feudalism. These nobles
had to provide protection to the people that lived there. The social pyramid in this government are
the following. At the top was the king, ruler of all. He appointed nobles, to manage some land and
territory. The nobles were very close to the king, or

Causes Of Ergotism In The Crucible
During the Salem witch trials nineteen people were hung, one pressed to death, and five died in
jail (Hoffer). When reading The Crucible the sanity of those in it is often questioned but other
variables could have been in play in Salem that year. Every event in history has its share of
theories from moon landings to 9/11. The Salem witch trials may not have been about religion
or witches, but outside factors. The cause and escalation of superstition during the trials of 1692
could simply be the product of ergot poisoning, Encephalitis Lethargica, or geographic divide.
Theorists claim that the Salem witch trials were the result of a harvest of bad rye. Ergot
poisoning or convulsive ergotism could be the cause of symptoms exhibited by the bewitched .
The growth of ergot on rye is dependent on weather. Ergot is more likely to grow in years with
cooler temperatures and increased precipitation. The lands in which ergot flourishes are newly
tilled low and shaded areas (Matossian). In the Middle Ages ergotism could be as devastating to
an area as the black plague. In northern Europe when the potato was not part of the diet, rye was a
common food. Under normal circumstances, the people of Salem were not completely dependent
on rye like the Europeans were in the Middle Ages. The growing season preceding the trials lead to
increased consumption of rye in Salem and some surrounding areas (Bennet). The winter of 1691
was cold and the weather was humid in the spring and summer.

I.Introduction
Klebsiella pneumoniae is a gram negative bacillus enterobacterium coliform. Klebsiella pneumoniae
is a bacterium which is normally found in the human body, but several pathogenic strains cause
infections in the human body. It is a nosocomial bacterium which is resistant to many common
antibiotics. The antibiotic resistant strains are most common and cause the most concern. These
strains are easily spread throughout extended stay hospital patients and to those in community
settings with underlying diseases. Klebsiella pneumoniae is the fourth most common cause of
pneumonia in ICU patients. Research is currently focused on creating new antibiotics to which
Klebsiella pneumoniae is susceptible. Klebsiella pneumoniae is found in several different countries
around the world.
II.Structure and Physiology
The morphology of Klebsiella pneumoniae is a bacillus shaped bacterium, which means it looks
like a rod. This bacterium is also a non motile and Gram negative. This means that wherever the
bacterium was inoculated into an agar, it only grew in that spot and did not grow outwards. Being
gram negative means that the bacterium has a thin layer of peptidoglycan and stains red during the
Gram staining process. Klebsiella pneumoniae is an encapsulated bacterium, where the capsule

Europeans In 19th Century Americans
In chapter one I was intrigued to learn about the Europeans. Edwin Gaustad and Leigh Schmidt
stated that learning about the inhabitants of what we referred to as the New World , the Europeans
would romanticize and idealize themselves as symbols. The Europeans were symbolic in their way
of innocence, they were the true inheritors of the Garden of Eden before the fall. Exploring deeper
into the Europeans symbolic meaning, I discovered that the tendency of Europeans to
sentimentalize the earliest Americans were always correlated by a tendency to be brutal and exploit
them. During the nineteenth century, a period of a rapid European sweep across the North
American continent, racial stereotypes of white men verse red man became more intense. During

Hypnosis is a natural state of mind that can be used for many purposes, in different settings.
Nowadays research in the field of hypnosis and associated areas has blossomed and there are
valuable evidence that hypnosis has real and measurable affects on both body and mind. During
this essay I will be describing what is hypnosis including what the psychological and physical
aspects of hypnosis are, further I will be discussing the role of relaxation in hypnotherapy. We
experience the hypnotic state in everyday life and it often occurs without recognition as such. It is

He believed mesmerism to be a nervous sleep and coined the word hypnosis, from Greek word
Hypnos, meaning sleep. He discovered that getting a patient to fixate upon something was one of
the most important components of putting them into a trance.
The French scientists were also taking the interest in the subject of hypnosis, and many
breakthroughs were made by Ambroise Leibeault (1823 1904), a neurologist Jean Martin Charcot
(1825 1893) and Charles Richet (1850 1935). Ambroise Leibeault and Hippolyte Bernheim (1837
1919) were the first who asserted that expectation is a most important factor in the induction of
hypnosis and suggestibility is its essential symptom.
The work of another Frenchman, Emile Coue (1857 1926), was very interesting. He is most
famous for the phrase Day by day in every way I am getting better and better . His technique was
one of affirmation and his idea was that the imagination is always more powerful than the will.
Sigmund Freud (1856 1939) was also interested in hypnosis at this time. He was using it in his
work, but eventually abandoned it in favour of psychoanalysis. With the rise of psychoanalysis in
the first half of this century, hypnosis declined in popularity.
Milton Erickson (1901 1980) is considered the leading authority of clinical hypnosis. Nowadays
Erickson approach to hypnosis without question is the most effective.

Name Change Research Paper
The conversation surrounding the Redskins name change is as controversial as who was elected
for President in November. In short, the argument for the name change rests on perceived racial
slurs, while those against a name change argue it would violate the constitution. Changing the name
of the NFL team, the WashingtonRedskins, would neglect the word s true meaning, shift the
government s role towards monitoring political correctness, and violate the Constitution itself.
The controversy started around 1972, when Edward Bennett Williams was part owner and many
ethnic backing groups were in their inception. The name has been an issue for more than half the
team s existence. Since 1972, many Native Americans have spoken out against the name ... Show

Horror Of The Horror Movie
Weenie. That is the word that comes to mind when I think about myself watching horror films. I
am the girl that shields her eyes, jumps at the slightest jump scare, and cringes at the tiniest
amount of gore. But contrary to what this previous information might tell you about myself, I love
a good horror movie. I believe there is nothing that can bring a group of friends together like a good
ol scary filmon a crisp, Autumn night. A film that I discovered last Fall was The Babadook,
written and directed by Jennifer Kent. This film is a psychological horror, meaning it uses
different twists and tricks to scare you rather than using creepy creatures or gore. The main plot
of this movie is about a widowed mother, named Amelia who is still struggling with the effects
the death of her late husband has on her while she is raising their son, Samuel. The antagonist in
this film is the monster, The Babadook, who is the manifestation of the mother s depression.
This film has become a favorite of mine because it uses a monster to showcase how scary a very
common, real life problem is. Samuel and Amelia live alone in a small home in a quaint,
Australian town. Samuel has proven to be a problem child as he is always getting into some sort
of mischief at school or at home. He also is still afraid that monsters are living in his room even
though Amelia tries everything she can to help him cope with his fears but nothing seems to
help and the failure just adds fire to her internal storm she has. One night she tries to help calm
Samuel by allowing him to pick out a book to read as a bedtime story. Sam picks out the book
Mister Babadook. Obviously, this book tells the tale about the real life monster The Babadook
and it scared the child so bad he just laid in his mother s lap and screamed the entire night. This
screaming fit drove Amelia crazy and was sort of the straw that broke the camel s back to send her
into her depressive state. In the days after they read Mister Babadook, Samuel blamed his
mischievous behavior on The Babadook as it was beginning its haunting. Amelia believes Sam is
just up to his usual antics until she too starts feeling strange things occurring in their lives. After

Jack Kerouac and The Beat Generation Essay
Born to die
The Beat Generation, made up of writers, artists and misfits, was forged not long after the end of
World War II. People wanted change, the old ways and traditions were slowly being neglected and
social rules of that time were put into question. The Beat Generation were the ones leading the way
in questioning the old rules and regulations not because they wanted to but because America
wanted it. The Beat Generation was a bohemian hipster like movement that got its drive and
inspiration from sexuality, drugs, booze, crazy people and situations and religions like Christianity,
Judaism and Buddhism. The Beat Generation embraced creativity untouched by culture. These

Death is a phenomenon that many do not understand in America. America tells many that life
should be lived in a certain way in order to live life to its fullest before death comes creeping
along. Humans create this false pursuit of happiness before they leave this world. It leaves many
in fear of death. Religious beliefs teach humans to embrace death. If that is the case, then why is it
that citizens in north America still fear death when living a happy life in a first world country. Jack
Kerouac is inspired to write spontaneously through his travels in Mexico because of Tristessa s junk
addiction and how she embraces death even though her life is miserable. The romantic s wrote
many poems about death and many artists from that era embraced death because it evoked a
high level of curiosity in humans. Kerouac seems to embrace this notion too because it expresses
an essential truth about the human condition. He was inspired by a dove in Tristessa s house, Yet
so much like Tristessa s eyes that I wish I could comment and tell Tristessa: Thou hast the dove s
eyes. (Kerouac 26) the Dove represents the communication between the two worlds and more
importantly it represents peace of the deepest kind. It sooths all our worries and troubled thoughts.
It helps to appreciate the little things in life. Kerouac wrote in spontaneous prose style at this
moment in time because he was captivated by the image of the dove in Tristessa s house looking

Summary Of The Pink Panther
Jeff Koons s Pink Panther is a piece of art that portrays an entertained, bare breasted lady, attired
in a green dress. Her head tilts backward in a posture appearing as if she is talking to people
around her. She is modeled after the former Hollywood star, Jayne Mansfield. Additionally, the
Pink Panther, a famous cartoon character, calmly rests on the left shoulder of Mansfield while
wearing a hapless expression. Both figures were mass market and pop cultureknickknacks when the
sculpture was created. The work itself marked a crucial period of transformation in Koons s work
and style. His creations became brighter, bigger, and more startlingly cheerful. Koons surprised the
public by his brief realism and his resoluteness to depict the contemporary social and cultural
situation. His work could be understood as complex perspective on the present time. The image of
the couple is gratifyingly sophomoric. It depicts the lust for an object, which is accompanied by
ingenuous sentimentality. In general, the sculpture pinpoints everything Koons regards erroneous
in the modern American popular culture.Furthermore, the artwork portrays the way how people
conduct themselves in their daily activities and presents their common values and attitude to life.
For instance, the sculpture can be related to the problem of women s rights. Although the lady is
utterly sexualized and objectified, it is done in a vulgar way of a kitsch, which makes a viewer to
think about the status of woman in the modern society. In addition, utilizing recognizable
celebrities as a selling point could be considered a type of self irony and reflection on the
contemporary status of art. Finally, the Pink Pantherblurs the difference between an art object and a
piece of everyday culture and entertainment. In this regards, it stands out from other works of
postmodernism.

art, even though he was envied by many people who have consistently portrayed him as a cool

The Problem Solving And Decision Making Process
There are many problem solving and decision making processes employed by many consultants
all over the world in coming up with decisions of renting or buying house. We all make decisions
of varying importance every day, so the idea that decision making be a rather complicated task
may at first seem strange. However, in reality, some people are much poorer at decision making
than they think (Thomas Maurice, 2008). Making a decision implies that there is more than one
choice to be considered. More importantly, he or she should select the option that has the highest
probability of success or effectiveness as well as best fits with his goals, desires, lifestyle, or
values. No business process, such as buying or renting, can be approached by structuring of all
the tasks that need to be done in order for this process to work (Malthus, 1826). When making the
decision either to rent or buy a place to live, financial factors must be considered. The first step in
the decision making process is to determine whether or not the individual can afford to purchase a
home. These costs substantially exceed the initial payment and security deposit that would be
required if a person were renting instead of buying (Walsh, 2007). Before deciding to buy a home,
the amount of monthly payments against the income should be considered. Homeowners insurance
and property tax expenditures also should be taken in consideration. Expenses on home
maintenance such as carpet or a new roof also should be

Benzene and its derivatives have been found to replace donor ligands. In this experiment one is
looking to replace the CO groups in a molybdenum complex. By refluxing the Mo(CO6) in
mestylene it is possible to produce 1,3,5 C6H3(CH3)3]Mo(CO)3. The benzene molecules
replace 3 of the CO bonds and rest parallel to the plane of the remaining CO groups. The products
geometry is such that it can be considered octahedral as opposed to tetrahedral. The carbonyl to
molybdenum bonds are close to 90 degrees instead of 109.5 which is indicative of a tetrahedral
complex. Using H NMR and infrared spectrum it is possible to analyze the product and determine
its relative structure and composition. CO stretches have unique places within the spectrum and
thus can be noted. H NMR can be used to determining the structure by comparing it to that of
mestylene. Looking at these spectrum s allows for one to look for indication of methyl group

Using The Cloud For Large Scale Data Storage
Abstract: In cloud computing and services with the rapid developments, there has been a growing
trend to use the cloud for large scale data storage. This has raised the important security issue of

The cloud aims to cut costs, and help the users focus on their core business instead of being
impeded by IT obstacles Cloud computing is so named because the information being accessed
is found in the clouds , and does not require a user to be in a specific place to gain access to it.
The services are offered from data centres all over the world, which collectively are referred to as
the cloud. The idea of the cloud is to simplify the huge network connections and computer systems
involved in online services. Cloud computing is a computing model, not a technology. In this
model of computing, all the servers, networks, applications and other elements related to data
centres are made available to IT and end users. Cloud computing is a type of computing that is
comparable to grid computing. It relies on sharing computing resources rather than having local
servers or personal devices to handle applications.
Access control is generally a policy or a procedure that allows, denies or restricts access to a
system. It also monitors and records all attempts made to access a system. Access Control may also
identify users attempting to make an unauthorized access to a system. It is a mechanism which is
very much important for providing security. Various access control models are in use, including the
most common Mandatory Access Control (MAC), Discretionary Access Control (DAC) and Role
Based Access Control (RBAC). All these models are known as identity

Examples Of Perfective Aspect
1.Introduction
1.1What is Aspect? Aspect refers to how an event or action is to be viewed with respect to time,
rather than to its actual location in time. We can illustrate this using the following examples:
[1] Venkat fell in love on his eighteenth birthday
[2] Venkat has fallen in love
[3] Venkat is falling in love
In [1], the verb fell tells us that Venkat fell in love in the past, and specifically on his eighteenth

Gina s First Eight Years Case Study
There is no denying that Gina s first eight years in life were not ideal, but she has made

How Does Elie Wiesel Use Of Figurative Language In Night
Figurative Language in Night
The book night by Elie Wiesel has a lot of figurative language in it; almost all of the figurative
language used has its own significance and gives you more information on how bad life was
when you were a Jew in the 1940 s. There are eighty of you in the wagon, added the German
officer. If anyone is missing. You ll all be shot, like dogs... This simile has a very big impact and
shows how the Jews were treated. The jews being compared to dogs and the Germans almost are
saying how easy it would be for them to kill all of them if anyone is missing. This creates such a
big impact because the inhumane treatment from this point on just snowballed continuing to get
worse. The next piece of figurative language is personification; ... Show more content on

The Costs And Costs Of The Cost Of Building New Orleans
Next, it is necessary to identify the land that is possibly flooded and this can be calculated as:
0.50 x 0.63 = 0.315 or 31.5% of the land is flooded. Hence the probability that the area is flooded
is 0.315 or 31.5%. Assuming the probabilities, rebuilding the city together with the levees will
amount to $1.818 trillion in 100 years. Rebuilding the levees as of 2010 was $14 million;
however, there is an additional cost of the residual risk of Katrina. This residual risk can be
calculated as: $14 / 0.6223 = $22.5 billion. This implies that rebuilding the levees would amount
to a total of $14 + $22. 5 = $36.5 billion. Thus, with these estimates, the cost of rebuilding New
Orleans for the federal government would be: Cost of building new... Show more content on

In addition, some of the New Orleans residents might decide to rebuild their homes and
businesses themselves instead of waiting for the federal government. While considering
rebuilding New Orleans, a good question to ask is what the government would do with the
money that it plans to use to rebuild the city if it was diverted to other projects. The best thing to
do would be to build another city elsewhere or settling the people and businesses affected away
from the city. Another option would be to give a cash settlement to every individual, family or
business that suffered a loss and allow them to choose to rebuild in New Orleans or elsewhere.
Suppose the federal government would spend $1.818 trillion to rebuild the city but instead gives
a cash settlement to the city dwellers who are about $1.3 million people, each resident would get
about $1.39 million that is more than enough to pay for a new home and business in a different
town. One pitfall for the federal government to rebuild the city is that spending that huge amount
of money might not make sense if the residents do not want to stay. This would imply that the
new city would become obsolete despite the billions spent to rebuild. To avert this risk, the
government will need to assess whether the people want to stay and whether New Orleans needs a
big city (Glaeser, 2005). The estimated relevant expected utility The probability (p) of a hurricane

Galletta (2012) discusses that semi structured interviews give space for further discussion and an
in depth answer from the interviewee. Eight midwives were purposively recruited from eight
Mother and Child Health Centres in Oslo and a smaller town in in another part of Norway.
Although the study adopted this method it didn t allow for a true representation of midwives
views across Norway and it evidences a difference in the way the participants were recruited
therefore there was a degree of allocation bias as the midwives will clearly be working with
different population groups, pregnant women from a city and pregnant women from a small town.
The paper does however state that the recruitment process was carried out in that way to recruit
midwives with different experiences and to ensure diversity and socio economic statuses between
the Mother and Child Health centres.
Data analysis that was undertaken was content analysis. Graneheim et al (2017) reports that
qualitative content analysis is a method that is used to analysis quantitative data. It is a method that

but arguing the other side. One of the questions this week was, When children are being aggressive
, what should be done about the situation. When children are being agressive you should sit them
down and ask them questions about the situation. You could ask them, Does it feel good when
someone hits you? You can also ask the childwhat upset the to make them act in a violent way. If it

Everyday, my curiosity grows. I see her all day and I know next to nothing about her. She sits alone

small she is. Slim, but not puny, and somewhat tall is her body stature. She s just small enough

hoodies she wears contribute to absorbing her. I suppose it reflects her personality, always drawn

I shake my head and stand as the bell rings, heading to second hour. On our way to second hour, I

Trotsky s Assessment Of The Continuity Between Stalinism...
Trotsky s assessment of the continuity between Stalinism and Leninism Bolshevism is valid to a
certain extent. It is axiomatic that there is a multiplicity of factors that seem to correlate Stalinism
to Leninism, thus adding validity to Trotsky s assessment of the continuity. However the straight
line theory of the continuity between the two ideological phenomena, implied by Trotsky,
undermines the divergence between them. Both phenomenons rose up in the Soviet Russia during
the times of civil unrest, but Stalinism can be seen as more of a revolution from above whilst the
Bolsheviks Leninismcan be seen as more of a revolution from below .
The historical development of Stalinism can be traced and analyzed through its several stages. ...

However, elements of discontinuity are also present as the revolution was perverted by the Stalinist
structure as the dictatorship of the proletariat soon became the dictatorship of Stalin. Furthermore
Stalin s theory of Socialism in One Country betrayed that of the Marxist Leninist theory of
propagating socialism to other countries.
In order to fully assess the validity of the statement, two fundamental factors must we must firstly
look at. Firstly the aspects of continuity that may have lead to the the statement.Secondly, factors
within the Stalinist regime that illustrate aspects of discontinuity from the Bolshevik regime. Lastly,
the reason for the characterization, on behalf of Trotsky to possibility to give validity to the
Stalinist regime, likening that to the popularized Leninist Bolshevik regime.
Why does Trotsky legitimize the Stalinist regime as being linked to the Bolsheviks? Trotsky s
assessment of the of the Stalinist phenomenon certainly seems unexpected considering that any link

These two sentences relate directly to Augustus use of the forces he d both raised and had been
granted, to go against the state and force them to elect him as consul (as dramatically shown by
Suetonius).
Another clear point of difference between the two passages is their treatment of the deaths of
Gaius Vibius Panse and Aulus Hirtius, the two consuls who Octavian was sent to fight with in
Mutina. While Augustus relates that both consuls had fallen in battle , Tacitus plants a seed of
doubt by saying Soon both consuls had met their death by enemy action or perhaps in one case
by deliberate poisoning of a wound and in the other at the hand of his own troops, instigated by
Octavian . The advantages (as well as te convenient coincidental nature) of the deaths of both of
the consuls for Augustus are clear and while Augustus (obviously) stands by the belief that they
died in battle as historians have also come to believe due to the lack of evidence of any foul play
Tacitus voices the fears of many Roman citizens. However, in this case, it is Augustus claim which
received more historical vailiduty, as lack of evidence can be evidence in itself; while Tacitus ideas
towards the deaths of Pansa and Hirtius were mere speculation.
Tacitus also shows distrust towards Augustus in his exiling and killing of anyone deemed to be a
political enemy a taste which her masterfully called the proscriptions, and advertised to the public

My First Day In School
This past year from when I was a little seventh grader to now has been quite interesting. The first
day of school was on my birthday and I started off sick. Yeah, it wasn t very pleasant. I missed the
first three days of school. When I was better, I was very scared and nervous for all the new
teachers and classes. I knew most of the seventh and eighth grade teachers, but I had never been
in their class before. Soon, I learned that they were all extremely nice and loved to teach. I had
tried to memorize my schedule before, so I wouldn t go to the wrong class. My first class was
art, and then math, science, lunch, P.E., language arts, quest, and finally social studies. I
remember Mr. Munford told us that he hopes we would be a pretty good class. I think our class
turned out pretty well. I was involved in many fun activities last year. One of them was FCA
which stands for fellowship of christian athletes. FCA was extremely fun because we met on
Friday mornings before school and we got to eat doughnuts and things like that and then we would
talk about different things that involved with Christians. Another activity I was involved in was
C.L.O.W.N. troupe it was pretty funny seeing everybody s clown costumes. The veteran clowns
had to help train the new clowns that joined that year. All the clowns had to create a presentation to
present to little kids. Our presentation for the year was about sharing and having good manners. We
never got to go to the other schools and

The Efficacy of Patient-Controlled Analgesia
The practice of patient controlled analgesia (PCA) has been around for approximately four
decades now. During this time there have been improvements to the technology and the
understanding of how to use this form of patient pain control; however, there continues to be
concern related to the safety and efficacy of PCA. As this analysis proceeds it will briefly explain
what PCA is and how it is used, then delve into the benefits and the safety issues surrounding PCA
use as it pertains to the patient and the nurse. Some of the benefits of PCA include improved pain
management, improved use of nursing resources, increased patient satisfaction, and reduced
pulmonary issues (Hicks, Sikirica, Nelson, Schein Cousins, 2008). Some of the safety... Show more

Only patient activation of their infusion pump allows for this fundamental safeguard to come
into play. Later in this paper we will discuss the safety issues related to the activation of a PCA
infusion pump by someone other than the patient, a practice called PCA by proxy. Although there
appears to be significant benefits to the use of PCA infusion pumps, there are significant safety
issues arising from the use of PCA infusion pumps that can cause severe harm and potentially
even death. Some of these safety issues include infusion pump programming errors, basal infusion
of opioids, and PCA by proxy. A leading type of error identified in doing harm to PCA patients is
the improper dosage or quantity of analgesic medication (Hicks et al, 2008). This sort of error took
place on a patient returning to a hospital for postoperative pain management following a recent
surgical procedure. The nurse was given an order to manage the patient s pain with hydromorphone
administered via PCA infusion pump. In programming the pump the nurse inadvertently changed
the concentration of the medication from 1mg/ml to 0.3mg/ml, thus leading to errors in both the

  • 2. Acetaminophen Theory Description of Disease and Underlying theory Acetaminophen, once ingested into the body is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract into the blood stream where it reaches peak plasma concentration in as little as half an hour. Here, it circulates around the body for a period of up to 4 hours during which it produces its analgesic and antipyretic effects before the acetaminophen is metabolised and deactivated by the liver by a possible 3 pathways: Glucuronidation, sulfation and oxidation (Show below in Figure 2). The most commonly used pathway is the glucuronidation metabolism, closely followed by the sulfation pathway. These methods of metabolism deactivate the acetaminophen in the hepatocytes into non toxic conjugated sulphate and glucuronide which are excreted in the urine [23] [24]. The majority of the initially ingested therapeutic dosage is metabolised this way, with the remaining acetaminophen being metabolised via the third hepatic cytochrome P45 oxidase pathway, primarily by the enzyme CYP2E1 [25]. The Shang were an aristocratic society, or a heredity ruling class. This dynasty was also the first to leave written records. The principal Shang city was Anyang, it was in a clearance deep inside the forest. In 1027 BC, the Zhou overthrew the Shang and made their own dynasty. They were both very alike, and there was not much change in culture. But the Zhou brought up many fresh ideas, which would seem obvious because all people think in different ways, and have different solutions to their problems. As an excuse of overthrowing the Shang, they said that the last Shang king had done so badly, that the gods weren t satisfied, so they decided to let the Zhou rule. • 7. Causes Of Ergotism In The Crucible During the Salem witch trials nineteen people were hung, one pressed to death, and five died in jail (Hoffer). When reading The Crucible the sanity of those in it is often questioned but other variables could have been in play in Salem that year. Every event in history has its share of theories from moon landings to 9/11. The Salem witch trials may not have been about religion or witches, but outside factors. The cause and escalation of superstition during the trials of 1692 could simply be the product of ergot poisoning, Encephalitis Lethargica, or geographic divide. Theorists claim that the Salem witch trials were the result of a harvest of bad rye. Ergot poisoning or convulsive ergotism could be the cause of symptoms exhibited by the bewitched . The growth of ergot on rye is dependent on weather. Ergot is more likely to grow in years with cooler temperatures and increased precipitation. The lands in which ergot flourishes are newly tilled low and shaded areas (Matossian). In the Middle Ages ergotism could be as devastating to an area as the black plague. In northern Europe when the potato was not part of the diet, rye was a common food. Under normal circumstances, the people of Salem were not completely dependent on rye like the Europeans were in the Middle Ages. The growing season preceding the trials lead to increased consumption of rye in Salem and some surrounding areas (Bennet). Adopt a Microbe: Klebsiella pneumoniae Shannon Miller, Alison Shottek, and Marisa Areostatico Wednesdays@11 and Fridays@11; Section E and I Professor Masi 2 December 2013 I.Introduction Klebsiella pneumoniae is a gram negative bacillus enterobacterium coliform. Klebsiella pneumoniae is a bacterium which is normally found in the human body, but several pathogenic strains cause infections in the human body. It is a nosocomial bacterium which is resistant to many common antibiotics. The antibiotic resistant strains are most common and cause the most concern. These strains are easily spread throughout extended stay hospital patients and to those in community settings with underlying diseases. Klebsiella pneumoniae is the fourth most common cause of pneumonia in ICU patients. Research is currently focused on creating new antibiotics to which Klebsiella pneumoniae is susceptible. Klebsiella pneumoniae is found in several different countries around the world. This means that wherever the bacterium was inoculated into an agar, it only grew in that spot and did not grow outwards. Being gram negative means that the bacterium has a thin layer of peptidoglycan and stains red during the Gram staining process. Edwin Gaustad and Leigh Schmidt stated that learning about the inhabitants of what we referred to as the New World , the Europeans would romanticize and idealize themselves as symbols. The Europeans were symbolic in their way of innocence, they were the true inheritors of the Garden of Eden before the fall. Exploring deeper into the Europeans symbolic meaning, I discovered that the tendency of Europeans to sentimentalize the earliest Americans were always correlated by a tendency to be brutal and exploit them. The French scientists were also taking the interest in the subject of hypnosis, and many breakthroughs were made by Ambroise Leibeault (1823 1904), a neurologist Jean Martin Charcot (1825 1893) and Charles Richet (1850 1935). Ambroise Leibeault and Hippolyte Bernheim (1837 1919) were the first who asserted that expectation is a most important factor in the induction of hypnosis and suggestibility is its essential symptom. The work of another Frenchman, Emile Coue (1857 1926), was very interesting. He is most famous for the phrase Day by day in every way I am getting better and better . His technique was one of affirmation and his idea was that the imagination is always more powerful than the will. Sigmund Freud (1856 1939) was also interested in hypnosis at this time. He was using it in his work, but eventually abandoned it in favour of psychoanalysis. With the rise of psychoanalysis in the first half of this century, hypnosis declined in popularity. Milton Erickson (1901 1980) is considered the leading authority of clinical hypnosis. Nowadays Erickson approach to hypnosis without question is the most effective. In short, the argument for the name change rests on perceived racial slurs, while those against a name change argue it would violate the constitution. • 13. Horror Of The Horror Movie Weenie. That is the word that comes to mind when I think about myself watching horror films. I am the girl that shields her eyes, jumps at the slightest jump scare, and cringes at the tiniest amount of gore. But contrary to what this previous information might tell you about myself, I love a good horror movie. I believe there is nothing that can bring a group of friends together like a good ol scary filmon a crisp, Autumn night. A film that I discovered last Fall was The Babadook, written and directed by Jennifer Kent. This film is a psychological horror, meaning it uses different twists and tricks to scare you rather than using creepy creatures or gore. The main plot of this movie is about a widowed mother, named Amelia who is still struggling with the effects the death of her late husband has on her while she is raising their son, Samuel. The antagonist in this film is the monster, The Babadook, who is the manifestation of the mother s depression. This film has become a favorite of mine because it uses a monster to showcase how scary a very common, real life problem is. Samuel and Amelia live alone in a small home in a quaint, Australian town. Samuel has proven to be a problem child as he is always getting into some sort of mischief at school or at home. He also is still afraid that monsters are living in his room even though Amelia tries everything she can to help him cope with his fears but nothing seems to help and the failure just adds fire to her internal storm she has. One night she tries to help calm Samuel by allowing him to pick out a book to read as a bedtime story. Sam picks out the book Mister Babadook. Obviously, this book tells the tale about the real life monster The Babadook and it scared the child so bad he just laid in his mother s lap and screamed the entire night. This screaming fit drove Amelia crazy and was sort of the straw that broke the camel s back to send her into her depressive state. In the days after they read Mister Babadook, Samuel blamed his mischievous behavior on The Babadook as it was beginning its haunting. Amelia believes Sam is just up to his usual antics until she too starts feeling strange things occurring in their lives. After getting rid ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People wanted change, the old ways and traditions were slowly being neglected and social rules of that time were put into question. The Beat Generation were the ones leading the way in questioning the old rules and regulations not because they wanted to but because America wanted it. Death is a phenomenon that many do not understand in America. America tells many that life should be lived in a certain way in order to live life to its fullest before death comes creeping along. Humans create this false pursuit of happiness before they leave this world. It leaves many in fear of death. Religious beliefs teach humans to embrace death. If that is the case, then why is it that citizens in north America still fear death when living a happy life in a first world country. Jack Kerouac is inspired to write spontaneously through his travels in Mexico because of Tristessa s junk addiction and how she embraces death even though her life is miserable. The romantic s wrote many poems about death and many artists from that era embraced death because it evoked a high level of curiosity in humans. Kerouac seems to embrace this notion too because it expresses an essential truth about the human condition. He was inspired by a dove in Tristessa s house, Yet so much like Tristessa s eyes that I wish I could comment and tell Tristessa: Thou hast the dove s eyes. • 15. Summary Of The Pink Panther Jeff Koons s Pink Panther is a piece of art that portrays an entertained, bare breasted lady, attired in a green dress. Her head tilts backward in a posture appearing as if she is talking to people around her. She is modeled after the former Hollywood star, Jayne Mansfield. Additionally, the Pink Panther, a famous cartoon character, calmly rests on the left shoulder of Mansfield while wearing a hapless expression. Both figures were mass market and pop cultureknickknacks when the sculpture was created. The work itself marked a crucial period of transformation in Koons s work and style. His creations became brighter, bigger, and more startlingly cheerful. Koons surprised the public by his brief realism and his resoluteness to depict the contemporary social and cultural situation. His work could be understood as complex perspective on the present time. The image of the couple is gratifyingly sophomoric. It depicts the lust for an object, which is accompanied by ingenuous sentimentality. In general, the sculpture pinpoints everything Koons regards erroneous in the modern American popular culture.Furthermore, the artwork portrays the way how people conduct themselves in their daily activities and presents their common values and attitude to life. For instance, the sculpture can be related to the problem of women s rights. Although the lady is utterly sexualized and objectified, it is done in a vulgar way of a kitsch, which makes a viewer to think about the status of woman in the modern society. In addition, utilizing recognizable celebrities as a selling point could be considered a type of self irony and reflection on the contemporary status of art. Finally, the Pink Pantherblurs the difference between an art object and a piece of everyday culture and entertainment. In this regards, it stands out from other works of postmodernism. Pink Panther by Jeff Koons Introduction Artistic work often forms a serious way of communication, and many artists use it to pass a message to the society. • 16. The Problem Solving And Decision Making Process There are many problem solving and decision making processes employed by many consultants all over the world in coming up with decisions of renting or buying house. We all make decisions of varying importance every day, so the idea that decision making be a rather complicated task may at first seem strange. However, in reality, some people are much poorer at decision making than they think (Thomas Maurice, 2008). Making a decision implies that there is more than one choice to be considered. More importantly, he or she should select the option that has the highest probability of success or effectiveness as well as best fits with his goals, desires, lifestyle, or values. No business process, such as buying or renting, can be approached by structuring of all the tasks that need to be done in order for this process to work (Malthus, 1826). When making the decision either to rent or buy a place to live, financial factors must be considered. The first step in the decision making process is to determine whether or not the individual can afford to purchase a home. These costs substantially exceed the initial payment and security deposit that would be required if a person were renting instead of buying (Walsh, 2007). Before deciding to buy a home, the amount of monthly payments against the income should be considered. Homeowners insurance and property tax expenditures also should be taken in consideration. The products geometry is such that it can be considered octahedral as opposed to tetrahedral. The carbonyl to molybdenum bonds are close to 90 degrees instead of 109.5 which is indicative of a tetrahedral complex. The Costs And Costs Of The Cost Of Building New Orleans Next, it is necessary to identify the land that is possibly flooded and this can be calculated as: 0.50 x 0.63 = 0.315 or 31.5% of the land is flooded. Hence the probability that the area is flooded is 0.315 or 31.5%. Assuming the probabilities, rebuilding the city together with the levees will amount to $1.818 trillion in 100 years. Rebuilding the levees as of 2010 was $14 million; however, there is an additional cost of the residual risk of Katrina. This residual risk can be calculated as: $14 / 0.6223 = $22.5 billion. While considering rebuilding New Orleans, a good question to ask is what the government would do with the money that it plans to use to rebuild the city if it was diverted to other projects. The best thing to do would be to build another city elsewhere or settling the people and businesses affected away from the city. Another option would be to give a cash settlement to every individual, family or business that suffered a loss and allow them to choose to rebuild in New Orleans or elsewhere. Suppose the federal government would spend $1.818 trillion to rebuild the city but instead gives a cash settlement to the city dwellers who are about $1.3 million people, each resident would get about $1.39 million that is more than enough to pay for a new home and business in a different town. One pitfall for the federal government to rebuild the city is that spending that huge amount of money might not make sense if the residents do not want to stay. This would imply that the new city would become obsolete despite the billions spent to rebuild. To avert this risk, the government will need to assess whether the people want to stay and whether New Orleans needs a big city (Glaeser, 2005). One of the questions this week was, When children are being aggressive , what should be done about the situation. When children are being agressive you should sit them down and ask them questions about the situation. You could ask them, Does it feel good when someone hits you? You can also ask the childwhat upset the to make them act in a violent way. If it is something that can be fixed easily by switching activites, it should be done so. Over 20% of children under the ageof seven have behavior/ school problems. The ratio would be 3 4/ 5, 5 7/ 8 being the ratio between kids with behavior problems to the number of teachers that should be accounted for. On... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Observation is the process of seeing something or someone carefully in order to gain information. Modeling is the art or activity of making three dimensional objects. At this age, the ability to access and initiate things independently start to engage (initiative stage). This is where Piaget s preoperrational stage comes into effect. During this stage children begin to engage in symbolic play and learn to manipulate objects. Symbolic play is the ability to use objects, actions, or ideas to represent other actions, objects, or ideas. Children use one object to represent anohter object and engage in one or two simple actions of pretend play. • 32. Essay on A Girl Named Paige I walk through the doors to the fourth building, aiming towards the bathroom but instead, continue to the hallway next to the library and sit across and diagonal from this girl who always makes me curious with the way she looks, the way she acts. Everyday I see her, sitting alone. It s only seven thirteen and I know her friends will join her soon; I stay sitting across from her. Everyday, my curiosity grows. I see her all day and I know next to nothing about her. She sits alone most of the time, an almost forlorn lookplastered to her face. Alone now, I know she sees me. Her eyes dart up at me as I sit then return to their staring at a random splat on the floor, wall, anywhere. Part of me wants to think she s just socially awkward and... Tired of this conversation, I decide to venture elsewhere, although I intend to keep an eye on Paige in first hour. During first hour, Paige is just as vivacious, even more so than earlier. I notice then how small she is. Slim, but not puny, and somewhat tall is her body stature. She s just small enough to be swallowed by any crowd. The dark clothes make her shrink into herself. The incessant hoodies she wears contribute to absorbing her. I suppose it reflects her personality, always drawn in, like a tortoise in a shell. I wonder how her friend, Courtney, is friends with her. They seem polar opposites. Courtney looks outgoing, confident. As I look at Paige, I can tell she isn t. I can see her low self esteem in the way she slouches and the dullness in her eyes when she s contemplating. On one hand, I feel sympathetic for her. It s as if life for her is so gruesome. On the other hand, however, her demeanor is disgusting. Low self esteem is the least attractive quality in others. She seems comfortable, so why is it she always seems so sorrowfully somber? I shake my head and stand as the bell rings, heading to second hour. On our way to second hour, I walk behind Paige. Once she steps outside the classroom her face instantly takes on that disheartening expression. I wonder silently, is her life really that poisonous? Does she return home and act this way? I ... • 33. Trotsky s Assessment Of The Continuity Between Stalinism... Trotsky s assessment of the continuity between Stalinism and Leninism Bolshevism is valid to a certain extent. It is axiomatic that there is a multiplicity of factors that seem to correlate Stalinism to Leninism, thus adding validity to Trotsky s assessment of the continuity. However the straight line theory of the continuity between the two ideological phenomena, implied by Trotsky, undermines the divergence between them. Both phenomenons rose up in the Soviet Russia during the times of civil unrest, but Stalinism can be seen as more of a revolution from above whilst the Bolsheviks Leninismcan be seen as more of a revolution from below . The historical development of Stalinism can be traced and analyzed through its several stages. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, elements of discontinuity are also present as the revolution was perverted by the Stalinist structure as the dictatorship of the proletariat soon became the dictatorship of Stalin. Furthermore Stalin s theory of Socialism in One Country betrayed that of the Marxist Leninist theory of propagating socialism to other countries. In order to fully assess the validity of the statement, two fundamental factors must we must firstly look at. Firstly the aspects of continuity that may have lead to the the statement.Secondly, factors within the Stalinist regime that illustrate aspects of discontinuity from the Bolshevik regime. Lastly, the reason for the characterization, on behalf of Trotsky to possibility to give validity to the Stalinist regime, likening that to the popularized Leninist Bolshevik regime. Why does Trotsky legitimize the Stalinist regime as being linked to the Bolsheviks? Trotsky s assessment of the of the Stalinist phenomenon certainly seems unexpected considering that any link between the two systems would certainly seem to undermine Trotsky s creditably as the appropriate successor of Lenin. The entire sixth grade of South Mckeel Academy slept underneath the Saturn V rocket. Not an experience to forget. Previously, the middle schoolers had taken a brief tour of the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, which houses the space shuttle Atlantis. They would actually get to visit the shops and kiosks on Friday, the day after. Onto the subject of the rocket itself. Mostly yellow, the Saturn V rocket is the only functional rocket still fully intact. This is because it has never been out of Earth s orbit, much less in space. The length? The equivalent of 9 KSC (Kennedy Space Center) tour buses. In other words and measurements , 363 feet. Underneath the rocket, among the sleeping 6th graders, was a cold temperature. By the displays of astronauts suits, lunar rovers, lunar landers, samples of the moon s surface, etc. the coldness was not as evident, in fact by the exhibits one might go so far as to say warm. The area where the base of the rocket was built was visible, painted a light shade of green, towards the tip of the rocket. These two sentences relate directly to Augustus use of the forces he d both raised and had been granted, to go against the state and force them to elect him as consul (as dramatically shown by Suetonius). Another clear point of difference between the two passages is their treatment of the deaths of Gaius Vibius Panse and Aulus Hirtius, the two consuls who Octavian was sent to fight with in Mutina. While Augustus relates that both consuls had fallen in battle , Tacitus plants a seed of doubt by saying Soon both consuls had met their death by enemy action or perhaps in one case by deliberate poisoning of a wound and in the other at the hand of his own troops, instigated by Octavian . The advantages (as well as te convenient coincidental nature) of the deaths of both of the consuls for Augustus are clear and while Augustus (obviously) stands by the belief that they died in battle as historians have also come to believe due to the lack of evidence of any foul play Tacitus voices the fears of many Roman citizens. However, in this case, it is Augustus claim which received more historical vailiduty, as lack of evidence can be evidence in itself; while Tacitus ideas towards the deaths of Pansa and Hirtius were mere speculation. Tacitus also shows distrust towards Augustus in his exiling and killing of anyone deemed to be a political enemy a taste which her masterfully called the proscriptions, and advertised to the public as a ... Some of these safety issues include infusion pump programming errors, basal infusion of opioids, and PCA by proxy. A leading type of error identified in doing harm to PCA patients is the improper dosage or quantity of analgesic medication (Hicks et al, 2008). This sort of error took place on a patient returning to a hospital for postoperative pain management following a recent surgical procedure.
