presidentialism has more disadvantages. In criticism of Linz s article Horowitz
compared his article of Comparing Democratic System. They both did have strong
arguments, and also had weaknesses. First Linz argument was that legitimacy both
are popularly elected, and the origin and survival of each are independent from the
other. Since both the president and legislature derive their power from the vote of the
people in a free competition among well defined alternatives, a conflict is always
latent and sometimes likely to erupt dramatically; there is no democratic principle to
resolve it. Linz argues that parliamentarism obviates this problem because the
executive is not independent of the assembly. If the majority of the assembly favors
a change in policy direction, it can replace the government by exercising its no
confidence vote (128).

The compression ratio is the ratio of the maximum to minimum volume in the
cylinder of an internal combustion engine. The compression ratio for a diesel
engine usually ranges between 15:1 and 23:1. The reason being for this high
compression ratio is purposely higher causing the temperature of the air to rise. A
four stroke engine has a camshaft which is used to rotate at half the speed of the
crankshaft. (1:2 Ratio) Therefore the crankshaft will need to rotate twice for the
camshaft to make one rotation. The four stroke cycle, is a cycle that uses intake,
exhaust, fuel injection, compression and power to accomplish one complete cycle of a
diesel engine. The piston moves upward and approaches before top dead center
(BTDC) as the camshaft lobe starts to lift the cam follower. As the valve is taken
up the intake valve is then pushed downward and the valve opens. The intake
stroke begins while the exhaust valve is still open. The flow of exhaust gases
creates low pressure condition within the cylinder and will pull in fresh air.
Compression occurs after bottom dead center (ABDC) the intake valve starts to
close. At bottom, top, dead center (BTDC) the intake valve is then fully closed.
The air charge at this point is at normal pressure. The piston at bottom top dead
center (BTDC) has traveled half of its stroke reducing the volume in the cylinder by
half doubling the temperature to 160F. With a piston area of 9.6 in. sq. the pressure

The next scene Dr. Kay Scarpetta was called to was on a remote island right off the
shores of Virginia. When she arrived at the scene she was told that it was a woman
and she was found dead in her bead. The local cops also warned the doctor that the
dead woman had bumps and welts all over her body. Thinking nothing of this
information Kay walked up the stairs into the bedroom and began to investigate the
scene. When she pulled back the sheets she was shocked. Dr. Scarpetta was looking
at the woman and started feeling extremely uneasy. She had seen these types of
bumps and wounds before. They looked like some sort of smallpox disease. As soon
as she made the connection to this highly infectious disease Kay ran out of the room.
The whole Island had to be quarantined and Dr. Scarpetta was put into solitary

In this task the concentration of an unknown sample of copper sulphate using
colorimetry was used to find the concentration. In this investigation copper sulphate
was used which is CuSO4.5H20 as a formula. To make a standard solution which
was 1M, the same clean equipment was used to make up the standard solution as
used to make sodium carbonate. However there was one difference and that was
that the hot distilled water was used to dissolve the copper sulphate crystals. There
had to be enough hot water in order to dissolve the crystals into the beaker and then
add cold distilled water to cool the solution.
After this, the solution was poured into a volumetric flask just about to the 1dm3
line and then it was left there to cool to the same temperature as the room before
filling precisely to the 1dm3 line with distilled water. The molar mass of
CuSO4.5H20 was 249.5 so that means 249.5g of copper sulphate was needed to
dissolve, in order to make a standard solution, into 1dm3of distilled water. Following
this, a linear dilution of the CuSO4.5H2O was made in order to be used to make a
calibration curve after using the colorimeter to write down the absorbance of each
sample. A linear dilution is diluted with distilled water in order for it to make the

Attrition from Higher Education Institution (HEI) programmes is worryingly on the
increase (Russell Group 2010). However, students that drop out of pre registration
nursing programmes are of particular concern, not only to the HEI but the
Government and the NHS also due to the requirement to meet the needs of the NHS
recruitment and demands of an increasingly ageing society that relies on qualified
nurses (DOH 2007). Indeed the type of funding that student nurses receive and the
amount of money that is invested by Strategic Health Authorities (SHA) and
Government in them suggests that attrition is a costly problem (DOH 2009).

of the lifestyle he lives. The indignancy that he displayed when he was asked, Do
you think these crackers are really safe to eat? , also shows us that he takes pride in
dumpster diving. So much so that he gets angry when someone questions the safety
of his food. His pride and in your face intelligence makes his paper less effective, in
my opinion, because it makes him seem arrogant. Eighner s argument was not as
effective as it could have been because he focused more on defending himself
personally instead of presenting the reader with more information on the issue. Had
Eighner shifted his attention more towards the issue of food waste and society, rather
than focusing on defending himself, he would have been more effective in his writing.
In Dive!, Seifert also defends his lifestyle, but for reasons different from Eighner.
He does not do it to avoid judgement of his life, but rather to bring attention to the
problem that his documentary is trying to highlight. The way that he defends his
life, however, does affect the effectiveness of his film. He presents himself in a
very good light; he shows himself helping food banks and confronting local grocery
stores to deal with the wasted food, but the way that he went about it was a little

Disappointed, Yet Optimistic Let America Be America Again
The Poem, Let America Be America Again was written in 1938 by Langston
Hughes. An American writer of the 20th century and well known for writing about
injustice and inequality against low income working folks that existed in his days
as a kid in Harlem south of Manhattan, New York. At a young age in the 1920 s were
the years of Manhattan s black renaissance (Hughes).In the poem Let America Be
America Again , the speaker expressed his frustrations of African Americanwho are
victims of deception regarding what American is portrayed be. Our narrator
emphasizes how dream became the motivation of the American people. Hughes
also made reference to the inequality and lack of freedom that existed in the
American community especially the disadvantaged multiracial, multi skill
workers. Hughes wrote about the shift in what is meant by a free America as a
result of greed and not living up to what it s known for, The Land of the Free .
People made brave move from old world through many shores to build the now
known America. The narrator however did not lose all hope. In the last lines of the
poem, Hughes showed that in the end, the freedom would be worth the while. He
expressed hope in a way of an oath that America will be! that America would become
that land of the free, the American had dreamt it to be.

Reverend Hale Character Analysis
Reverend John Hale, an educated man of the Lord, arrives in Salem and unwittingly
starts the Salem Witch Trials and reveals the theme that lies blind even the most
well intended from the truth. Reverend Hale represents a good uncorrupt holy man,
unlike Parris, and we have chosen a New Testament bible due to his piety, but also
due to the Congregationalist Protestant faith which settled in New England. Hale
presents himself as an educated man of the world and at the time only priests
became educated so we have chosen a textbook. From the very beginning, Hale
searches for the truth behind the witches in Salem and he remains determined to
reveal the lies told by Abigail. We have chosen to represent his determination by a
