Essay My Best Teacher
Crafting an essay on the topic "Essay My Best Teacher" may seem like a straightforward task at
first glance, but delving into the intricacies of this theme reveals the complexity that lies beneath
the surface. The difficulty arises not from a lack of material but rather from the challenge of
encapsulating the essence of a teacher-student relationship within the confines of an essay.
The primary hurdle lies in the subjective nature of the topic. Each individual's experience with
their best teacher is unique, making it challenging to formulate a universally relatable narrative.
The diversity of teaching styles, personalities, and impacts further complicates the task. The
writer must carefully navigate through personal anecdotes, reflections, and emotions, aiming to
strike a balance that resonates with a broad audience while still capturing the essence of their
specific experience.
Moreover, the essay demands a nuanced exploration of the qualities that define an exemplary
teacher. It requires the writer to delve into the realms of mentorship, inspiration, and the
transformative power of education. Balancing personal sentiments with broader insights about
effective teaching adds another layer of intricacy.
Another aspect that contributes to the complexity is the potential for clichГ©s and overused
expressions. The topic itself can evoke sentimental responses that may lead to generic portrayals
of the teacher-student relationship. The challenge is to infuse originality and authenticity into the
narrative, steering clear of common tropes.
Furthermore, the writer must grapple with the task of creating a compelling structure that
seamlessly weaves together personal experiences, reflections, and broader insights. The essay
needs to engage the reader from the introduction to the conclusion, maintaining a coherent flow
while exploring various dimensions of the teacher-student dynamic.
In conclusion, while the topic "Essay My Best Teacher" may seem simple at first, the intricate
dance between personal anecdotes, universal insights, and the need for originality elevates the
difficulty level. Successfully navigating these challenges requires a thoughtful and skillful
approach to ensure the essay not only pays homage to an exceptional teacher but also resonates
with a diverse audience.

How John Smith s Advertising Campaign Achieved its Success
The advertising campaign for John Smith s beer achieved its success using a variety
of techniques. The main reason for the achievement was the approach that the
producers took. The purpose of the adverts was evidently to encourage the public to
buy John Smith s beer. Analysing the audience allowed them to aim their adverts to
people who would be most likely to purchase the product. Once the purpose and
audience were summarised, the content and ideas for the adverts were produced.
They supplemented the campaign s success by using Peter Kay, a recognisable
comedian, and various storylines for each advert, which attracted the correct ... Show

In normal society, this sort of parenting would be disgusting, but it is the complete
opposite here and provides humour to the target audience.
At the end of this advert, the text NO NONSENSE appears in a blood dripping, red
font and the screen shakes with a wardrobe, faded in the background. This
emphasises what happened in the advert and the slogan NO NONSENSE refers here
to not worrying about monsters in the wardrobe, but burglars breaking through the
windows. This presents other brands as pathetic and having the wrong priorities for
their customer, enhancing the advantage of John Smith s beer being no nonsense and
therefore encouraging people to buy it. Also, a pint of beer is shown on the ending
shot to remind viewers of the product being sold. The target audience can relate to
this because it seems down to earth and also these images will remain in people s
minds because of the humour and characterisation used.
Secondly, the target audience for the adverts is the middle aged, beer drinking man.
This is attained by the main character, Peter Kay (who plays John Smith). He
represents the majority of the audience and is displayed in the adverts as wearing
normal, casual clothes (jeans, T shirts, jumpers) and doing things that
Summary Of The Phantom Menace By Padme Amidale
In 1999, The Phantom Menace was released into theaters. The beginning of the saga
was brought to understand where the original trilogy s villain origin story came
from and where the famous twins Luke and Leia came from. Leia stole the hearts of
many in the original trilogy and it was now her mother s turn to take the spotlight.
Many did not welcome her character with open arms and rejected her. She was the
young naГЇve queen with a crazy fashion sense who had a crush on a nine year old
boy. At a very young age, Padme was interested in politics which happens to be a
male dominated career. Fourteen year old Padme Amidala was elected queen of
Naboo. While many would call her naГЇve, the planet elected the young for their
purity and believed age brought corruption. Age could have brought naivety, but
Padme had proven herself a leader her people trusted that once her second term
ended they wanted her to continue leading the planet. In episode I, Amidala deals
with the struggle of the Trade Federation who wants the planet to surrender to them
while they are controlled by Darth Sidious. It was a plan to gain control over the
galaxy with easier access since the young can be easily influenced. Amidala refused
that easy access over her planet from the Trade Federation. She is level headed to
not directly take action for war but to persuade the senate for a plead of help. When
the escape to Coruscant is delayed, she takes the opportunity to widen her knowledge
about the planet Tatooine
Grice s Cooperative Principle And Kinds Of Pragmatics...
This chapter explains an overview of related theories, which are the pragmatics
theory by George Yule including the Grice s cooperative principle and kinds of
maxim according to Grice.
2.1 Pragmatics
According to Yule (1996), pragmatics is concerned with the study of meaning as
communicated by a speaker (or writer) and interpreted by a listener (or reader).
Pragmatics focuses more on how we achieve meaning in a particular context, by
considering such factors as how, where and when something is said, who says it,
what is the relationship between the speaker and the listener, and how we understand
the use of ambiguous language (Baker and Ellece, 2011, p.100). In other words,
pragmatics is the study of speaker meaning. Therefore, from the ... Show more

67). In other words, flouting the maxim of quality occurs when a speaker says
something which needs to be considered as blatantly untrue. For example: Mark:
Great, that s really great! That s made my Christmas!
Mark is a speaker who says something which is considered as blatantly untrue,
because at that time, he got accident on the day, and he wishes it will be happiness
day. He became upset that made him say something which is blatantly untrue. So,
the speaker blatantly fails to observe a maxim in order to lead the hearer to look for
implied meaning or in this situation the hearer already knows that Mark says the
opposite.
2.1.2.3Flouting Maxim of Relation
Thomas (1996) said that the maxim of relation is exploited by making a response or
observation which is very obviously irrelevant to the topic in hand (p.70). So, the
speaker flouts the maxim of relation if his/her contribution is not relevant. For

It was desolate with rare sights of vegetation, and the peoples had to scavenge the
landscape to survive its brutal climate changes. But long ago, in a time of exploration
of art and science, and expansion, the Kryptonians spread out through the ocean of
stars, seeking new worlds to settle upon, colonizing. The race of aliens created
spacecrafts which had organic structures, similar to the landscape of Krypton. The
spacecraft would be one of the great machines that would reshape environments, or
terraform, changing the atmospheres to suitable standards to support Kryptonian life.
What changed was that Krypton had suffered from over population and artificial
population was established. Artificial population was able to be done because of the
Kryptonians discovering that they could tamper with their own DNA, changing it,
and creating new forms of life, but which would retain the physiology of their own,
even through the tampering. The outposts and space exploration were abandoned,
and the Kryptonians had exhausted their natural resources. As a result, to find a
source of power, Kryptonians scientists began harvesting the core of the planet,
which made Krypton s core unstable. Over time, Krypton became unable to support
artificial population and began resorting back to natural birth, but the population was
lowered and steadied. This would only save Krypton for a few more centuries before

History Of Sam Phillips
Sam Phillips founded Memphis Recording Services in the early 1950s to record
any and every artist interested in performing at his studio, he had no particular
limits on who the artists were expected to be or what they were supposed to be
singing as long as they made him money. The early years would be spent primarily
recording bluesartists such as B. B. King, Rufus Thomas, Rosco Gordon, Joe Hill
Louis, and Howlin Wolf. Sam Phillips vision was to bring artists as well as genres
together and work alongside them with the objective to create an entirely new style
of music. The studio s name was later changed to Sun Studios, a name that would
end up leaving a legacy that introduced the world to some of the founding fathers and
mothers of rock and roll. Of the countless artists recorded... Show more content on

His philosophy was similar to that of Sam Phillips in that he was willing to accept
artists from anywhere on his way to the top, if he could profit from an artist, a deal
could be made. He differed from Sun Studios with his approach to as well as
appreciation for artists though as he was careless and burned relationships with
supremely talented artists. He grew up in the Bronx playing guitar and piano and
composed music while still in his teenage years, all of which proved to be
important tools in his producing studio. He reportedly had the extraordinary ability
to organize music with artists to perfection in addition to a recording technique that
some referred to as the Wall of Sound. Basically, the wall of sound was a unique
style resembling a raucous roar which was created by many instruments being played
as loudly as possible, mixed with an echoing effect. Phil Spector s success is
evidenced by the many top hits he orchestrated though his studio by artists such as the

The Family Relation, As Affected By Charles K.
Slavery separated families when children were young and took advantage of
childbearing women, leading to a long lasting detrimental effect on African American
family unity. Although slavery is commonly known to have taken place in 18th and
19th centuries, family values from slavery have trickled into recent times, as spoken
of Barack Obama in (date). Well after the historic end of slavery, pieces were written
about the distorted familyvalues between previously enslaved families, one being

The connection between a mother s death and the death of a stranger evokes an
understanding from the reader that Douglass was allowed very different values of
family than many people today. Although Douglass was separated from the family
closest to him, there was a small period in which he was separated from viewing
the cruel violence surrounding him. Douglass lived with his grandmother when he
was young, her filling in the role of the old woman that young children were
placed with, as quoted above. He mentions that he had been out of the way of the
bloody scenes that often occurred on the plantation until he witessed a master
beating his aunt (13). Slaves in the 1930s during the Great Depression were
interviewed by the Federal Writers Project, and many had very strong opinions
about their families being separated. John W. Fields, a slave in Kentucky,
described the process of drawing names from a hat to determine his new master,
saying, I can t describe the heartbreak and horror of that separation. I was only six
years old... . Another slave of Kentucky, John Rudd, describes his view on selling

The most concerning threat USPS faces is the rise in operating expenses,
particularly the increase in energy prices and health insurance premiums. Energy
prices are at all time highs. With USPS dependency in both, air and ground
transportation, energy prices will play a major role in the company s budget.
USPS is part of the Federal Employee Health Benefit program and premiums for
these benefits have steadily increased over the last couple of years. For example,
premiums increased in 2003 by 11.1%. Health benefit payments increased 14% in
2003 from 2002, and by 15.8% in 2004 from 2003 levels.... Show more content on

Long Term Action Plan USPS should gradually replace their aging delivery
vehicles with hybrid or electric vehicles to reduce delivery costs and dependency on
gas. A hybrid vehicle not only saves the Postal Service32 40% on fuel costs (roughly
$1200/car/year based on 30k miles), depending on the vehicle, but USPS would
also receive a $3,000 tax incentive on every vehicle. In cities, electric vehicles or
SMART cars could be used since delivery routes are shorter with frequent stops.
Aside from being fuel efficient, they adhere to the ever stricter emissions rules. With
well over 200,000 postal vehicles currently in the system, savings would approach
the $1billion mark. Since USPS has monopoly in Standard Mail, prices in this sector
should be raised while prices in the package delivery sector should be lowered,
albeit marginally, in order to attract higher market share. A raise in first class
postage of a little over 8% to $.40 is presently being reviewed. Higher revenues
would result from the newly raised prices in the monopolized Standard Mail
market, while higher volume sales from the package delivery segment would boost
revenues. USPS should first appeal to the US government to leave the Federal
Employee Health Benefit program. Then, USPS should research other health plans
that are more cost efficient, whether it be a new carrier in the private sector, a
change in benefits coverage or alter the level of an employees contribution to
Characterism In The Play Hedda Gabler
A brutal mix of manipulation, affairs, fear, and death, the play Hedda Gabler is a
fine example of unhappiness in marriage and self. The author, Henrik Ibsen, creates
a scenario which highlights the faults of his main character, Hedda Tesman, showing
the audience where her true priorities lie. Throughout the play Hedda s character
begins to regress, obsessively trying to gain control over those around her by plotting
characters against each other and skillfully manipulating them. Devolving into a
caged manic when she is unable to get her ways, she becomes trapped in a marriage
that brings out her worst attributes. Ibsen brings about Heddas instability slowly,
using character Judge Brack to show how an already unhappy woman can become
a ticking bomb under marital restrictions. Putting her into more and more
precarious situations , until, inevitably, she explodes. Ibsen s use of literary foils
highlights Heddas weaknesses, revealing her true nature of cowardice. Building to
her ultimate demise, brought about between the collision of [her lack of] control
and fear. As in trying to gain control of others, you ll lose control of yourself.
Hedda Tesman has many visitors over the couple of days that we see of her life,
but a frequent visitor that leaves a lasting impression is Judge Brack; an older man
that is held with high respects by all. He has power in the community and is able to
pass through people s lives without much talk, judging those who he saw fit to judge.

that communism is a way to conquer your enemies. The People s Republic of China
shares many similarities with the Republic in the book Legend. They are both
communist, militarily run nations, where the citizen s rights are oppressed, and they
are both totalitarian states. They both have authoritarian leadership, and they deny
many of their people basic human rights. They both suppress their citizen s freedom
of expression, and imprison those who fight for it. These governments have very

Both governments treat their people dreadfully, although they claim their people are
treated fine. The People s Republic of China is a member of the United Nations
Human Rights Council, and they say that people should be treated fairly. However,
they commit some the most heinous human rights violations on the planet. They
have prisons built specifically to torture the inmates, although the government
denies having them. During Mao Zedong s rule, millions of people were declared
psychologically ill, and were barred from work if they did not support his
administration. This process still continues, only at a much smaller scale. The
People s Republic of China has committed many minimum wage violations, such as
refusing to pay their worker s their nation s set minimum wage, along with forcing
extensive work hours on their workers, and allowing inappropriate actions towards
workers by employers/managers. The Chinese government has facilities where they
re educate the people who commit crimes. The re education is usually 3 years long,
and is for minor crimes. The re education is carried out through labor. The labor
centers are separate from their much larger labor camps, where the criminals who
commit more serious crimes go. The People s Republic of China limits the access
their people have to the Internet.
Effects Of The Vietnam War On American People Essay
The Vietnam War greatly changed America forever. It was the longest war fought
in America s history, lasting from 1955 to 1973.The war had two major effects on
American people. First, the Vietnam War tarnished America s self image by
becoming the first time in history the United States failed to accomplish its stated
war aims, to preserve a separate, independent, noncommunist government. It was
the first war ever broadcast on television. The public was able to see what
happened on the battlefield. Second, one of the chief effects of the war was the
division it caused among the people. Not since the Civil War had America been so
divided. This war would have lasting affects on the United States. To better
understand the horrors of the war, I will narrate the story from the perspective of
my grandfather with a few personal opinions injected in between my grandfather s
thoughts. It was 1961 in, Jacksonville ,Florida when I first enlisted in the marines
at the age of 20. I then served four years and was discharged in 1964. Prior to
enlisting into the Marines I had to prep myself mentally and physically. For six
months I had to whip myself in shape. In the marine corps, you must pass a
physical fitness test every six months. A perfect score of 300 is usually achieved by
doing twenty dead hang pull ups, 100 crunches in twenty seconds and a three mile
run in twenty eight minutes. Now that threw me for loop, but my general told me
you don t have to be perfect to enlist, but to

Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) is a metabolic disorder in which there is less
production or utilization of insulin regardless of hyperglycemia in the body. It is
estimated that T2DM affected would rise from 30 million to probable 450 million in
the world by year 2030 [1]. Genetic and/or certain contributing factors play a vital
role in development of insulinresistance (IR) that further proceed towards T2DM [2].
Alarmingly, urbanization has diverged dietary intake [3], which accompanied with
lack of exercise and improper sleep would alter the evolutionary concept of
robustness with cell being exploited to experience IR [4,5]. However, there have been

The Front De Liberation Du Quebec
Just watch me are the defiant words uttered by Canadian Prime Minister Pierre
Elliot Trudeau in response to the Front de liberation du Quebec (FLQ), a Marxist
group who captained Quebec independence through indiscriminate political violence.
His words are not those of an iron fisted strongman, despite how strong and
undetailed his comments were at the time, but those of a calculated and well versed
leader, whose decisions came at the behest of prominent Quebecpoliticians. The FLQ
instilled a decade of social violence in the streets of Quebec by systemically
championing the struggles of French minorities who perceived unjust treatment in
everyday life. Their qualms quickly evolved from protest to a Marxist movement,

Marx s manifesto dangerously presented a worldview based on totalitarianism and
humanization of armed conflict. The FLQ paraded Communist ideology as a
revolutionary tactic to promote change, yet seemingly failed to realize the flaws
associated with it, both politically and morally. Trudeau deemed it necessary to act
as he did as the FLQ continuously promoted a hardline, and very literal
understanding, ultimately culminating in the publication and distribution of an
FLQ manifesto, which brazenly stated, We are the workers of QuГ©bec and we
will continue to the bitter end. We want to replace the slave society with a free
society, functioning by itself and for itself; a society open to the world (Belanger,
2007). Trudeau was adept at realizing how impactful a persuasive outside influence
could be on minority populations who felt left behind by a changing Canada. Being
French himself, he openly acknowledged the need to not alienate a large amount of
Canada in his process in dealing with the issue, yet had to be strong willed in the face
of terror. Communism contradicts many of the societal factors which democracy takes
for granted, and it became apparent as the FLQ gained influence that their perception
become increasingly more nationalistic. Trudeau stressed the threat Marxism posed,
as it is against normalcy to suddenly and brashly causer great change in society. A

To begin the mission Alex has to go to Bangkok to meet up with his partner Ash
who is an old family friend. He was Alex s father s friend from when his father was
also involved in the spy business. The plan was to dress as immigrants and
immerse themselves in the crowd to learn more about the Snakehead culture and
leaders. Alex was taken to a boxing arena by the Snakehead and is made to fight in
the arena against the best fighter and eventually beats him which causes a huge
commotion and eventually a riot. He quickly escapes using his skills that he has
learned in the field during previous missions. He did not realize it but someone had
also help start the riot to make a diversion for him to escape. It was a member of
MI6 which is the organization that normally hires Alex to spy out of London,
England. They have gotten wind of the bomb Royal Blue , and have tied it to

The Looking Glass Reflection
Fantasy will always be more cherished than reality. Our imaginations give way to
disappointment when it s time to buckle down and come back to the real world.
However, for Nellie this is quite the opposite. In Anton Chekhov s The Looking Glass
character development, symbolism, and diction are used to communicate that reality
upsets our expectations.
Character Development is one of the most effective tools used to communicate the
overall theme of The Looking Glass. Character Development is used in The Looking
Glass to show the change of Nellie s perspective from the beginning of her vision to
the end. In this excerpt, Nellie describes what she sees in the mirror It was he, the
destined one, the object of long dreams and hopes. The destined one was for Nellie
everything, the significance of life, personal happiness, career. Nellie s filled with
new found wonder and excitement when she catches a glimpse of what she
presumes to be her future husband. In Nellie s perspective her life has always
been building up to find the perfect man and that man now stands before her in the
mirror. It s apparent that not only did Nellie idolize her husband but she s seems
very naive to not consider all the bad things that come with marriage. Life will test
a relationship between wife and husband Nellie s perspective changes dramatically
towards the end of the book, She looked into the looking glass and saw a pale, tear
stained face. There was no grey background now. I must have fallen asleep, she
thought with a sigh of relief. (Chekhov 7). Nellie has seen the full preview of what
her life is supposed to be and she s horrified. Nellie no longer is a victim of her
own naive complex she fully realizes that life is no picnic. The development of
Nellie s perspective of what seemed like a bright future has been shattered by the
universal fact that reality upsets expectations. We can never be certain of our future
and setting up false hopes is setting yourself up for a rude awakening to reality.
Character development was instrumental to the theme because it proves the point that
our expectations for our future is not certainly not what we will receive no matter
how hard we try to work towards. Chekhov s word choice in this
Crime And Deviance In The Dark Knight By Christopher
Nolan
Throughout The Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan crime and deviance is seen
throughout the film. Crime and deviance in The Dark Knight has two faces as
society accepts crime for those whose are helping them and at the same time punishes
those who are punished. Society in Gotham accepts crime when the Batmancommits
it to help for the betterment of society; however, crimeis not accepted when it is
committed by mob bosses, gangs, criminal cops, and most importantly through the
joker. The forms of deviancy/crime which are seen throughout the film is the
Labeling Approach, Human Rights Approach, and Human Diversity Approach. The
Labelling Approach is a theory in which an individual s identity is determined or
influenced by the terms that is used to describe or classify them, through the use of
serotyping someone. This is seen within The Dark Knightwhen the Joker recruits
those who have been labelled as mentally insane, or have been outcast by society.
This makes them believe that have a sense of being within society as they start to
create their own society, and those who do not follow the norms that the Joker puts
into place. Through allowing the joker to recruit those who have a negative label,
do to the Joker having a label himself of being a villain by both sides of society.
Not being accepted by anyone, even his own, which forces him to act on such a
label through committing crimes that are not even the norms of the criminal
society. This behavior is being seen as a rationale by both sides of society the
general public, and criminals by not allowing the Joker and his associates fit within
the norms that are being set for them. This also helps society within Gotham to
make sure that those with a label are not socially accepted such as those that have a
mental illness, and who perform criminal acts. However, at the same time it gives
the people of Gotham as a sense of power over those that have a label, and the sense
that they have a position over society. Furthermore, the Human Rights Approach
argues that crime occurs whenever a human right is violated, no matter of what
context the crime is being committed, regardless of whether the crime was legal or
not. This is seen within The Dark Knight when
Christian Classical Theism
Every person in the world, from generations past to future civilizations, sees the
world through a lens that can be defined as a worldview. Every lens is different
because every person is unique. Many of these worldviews share similar
overarching themes leading into a category we have titled religion; however,
worldview is not simply composed of a religious affiliation. Worldview encompasses
the entirety of how an individual views the world and all that is that within it. This
view often becomes dictated by their religious beliefs and personal interaction with
society and culture.

The influence of Evangelical Protestantism in my worldview refines the belief in
only the scripture. As a child, I attended a church every Sunday that had Sola
Scriptura inscribed on the pulpit. Every sermon that the pastor preached was based
entirely on scripture and I stand by this view of the Christian religion. From this
standard, my belief includes the necessity to personally ask Jesus into your life and
ask for His saving grace and mercy, the understanding that the only source of
salvation is through Jesus s sacrifice, requirement of sharing the Gospel, and a rapture
of all Christians before the Great Tribulation.
EASTERN PANTHEISTIC MONISM
Under an Eastern Pantheistic Monism worldview, all is God and all is One. There is
an overarching understanding that the soul of every human being belongs to the Soul
of the Cosmos and after this understanding is achieved each soul is joined to the One
(Soul of the Cosmos). Pantheism and Monism have evolved rapidly over the past
three decades which led to a stark division of beliefs according to different branches
of Pantheism. Eastern Pantheistic Monism has also adapted into a form of New Age
Gnosticism.
Monism. The belief that everything is one is classified as Monism. Diversity in the
world is a faulty and invalid perspective under this worldview. There is no
dichotomy between body and mind and there is no separation of God and the

Future Of Public Broadcasting In Australia
The future of public broadcasting in Australia has continued to be very unknown.
Since the 1990 s Australia s public service broadcasters security has been under
constant challenge and change (E. Jacka, 2006). The Australian public service
broadcasting sector comprises of the radio, television and online services. The
Australian Broadcasting Corporation, which is also known as the ABC, and the
Special broadcasting services SBS. Both are funded directly by the federal
government. According to Scannell and Cardiff (1991), defined broadcasting as a
public service which would act as a cultural, moral and educative force for the

New Zealand s Brand And Marketing Campaign Essay
AbstractI chose New Zealand as I would like to go there. 100% Pure New Zealand
has been the country s brand for a decade and it accurately describes the beauty of the
country, which successfully attracts eco conscious and adventurous tourists. The
mountain formations, volcanoes, un spoiled rain forests, and the coastal areas are the
primary attractions. Tourism produces $10.3 billion or 15.3% of New Zealands
foreign exchange earnings and is their biggest export industry. The top three tourist

The Ethics Of The Enron Scandal
Ethical Scrapbook In the three excerpts that will be discussed in this report there is
a theme. That theme is ethics or the lack there of. What all three of these cases have
in common is that people were willing to trade in their reputations, their livelihood
and in some cases their personal freedom to get what they wanted. In two of the
examples, the prize they sought was money, pure and simply a case of greed.
Importantly, these people already had significant wealth, and they were willing to
take the chance on losing what they had already attained to get more. In the other
case, the defendant s ethics are what initiated his behavior.

Wilson Peace Treaty
Wilson arranged a peace conference that opened on January 18, 1919. The only
ones that were in attendance were Wilson from the United States, David Lloyd
George of Britain, Georges Clemenceau of France, and Vittorio Orlando of Italy
,(Goldfield, 2014, p 676). The Central Powers and Bolshevik Russia were excluded
from the conference , (Goldfield, 2014, p 676). Wilson s Treaty was mainly one
sided against the French and the British. He wanted Germany to accept full
responsibility for starting the war along with having to pay huge reparations to the
allies, give up land to France, Poland, Belgium and Denmark, cede it s colonies
limit its army and navy to small self defense forces, destroy military bases, and
promise not to manufacture or purchase armaments, (Goldfield, 2014, p 676). Wilson

After saying these words, Katurian goes on to say if the police officers said they
would burn two of the three things, his brother, himself or his writing, he would
chose to have his brother burned first, and him charred second and it would be the
stories I would save. His brother, Michael, does not understand this concept, and I

However, let me share with you a revelation I had via a politically incorrect tour.
Before that, however, I will take you elaborate on my venture to the writers museum.
The Scottish writers museum had exhibits on three writers, one of which was Robert
Burns whom they described as not only the best poet of Scotland a world
renowned poet but possibly the best poet of all time. Rooms housed his furniture,
original copies of his works, and other artifact s this great writer had touched. There
were posters after posters describing his many accolades, making this man out to be
a saint. He used writing to create an impressive legacy for himself.
Later on that day we took a politically incorrect tour of Scotland. Our tour guide led
us up to the Writer s museum entrance and asked us if we had ever heard of Robert
Burns. Maddie and I enthusiastically raised our hands expecting a

Small Urban Areas Of Comparative Advantage
Small urban areas can do a number of things to increase and diversify export
efforts. Increasing the exports will enhance the ability of the small urban area to
pay for its imports. First the small urban areas should look at other opportunities so
they can mitigate the export dependency they have on target areas such as large
urban areas that have economies of scale. They could target investment and
industrial policy to develop potential new areas of comparative advantage. Thing
such as technology, infrastructure development, entrepreneurship, institutional and
regulator efforts, and communication all are essential components in looking for
new areas of comparative advantage. In addition, things like investment in human
capital development, and integration into the global market, which provide more
profitable value chains, should also be a focus to address this type of issue as well

The Kinds Of Dogs
There are many kinds of dog breeds in the world. Dogs are known by people to be
a man s best friend. The reason is because they are loyal, playful, and in some cases
they even protect their owners from harm. Dogs are a very territorial animals so
they will do anything to protect and to keep any unwanted visitors out, whether it
may be another animal or even humans. Some of the breads of dogs are German

very smart dogbreed. They are very independent and trustworthy dogs. These dogs
are used by law enforcement and the military as well. While in the Marines I had
the chance to work with these dogs when I was deployed to Iraq. The German

Pearl Harbor Research Paper
The event that brought forth the Idea to attack japan and destroy the cities of
Hiroshima and Nagasaki was Pearl Harbor. Japan had a history of executing
surprise attacks before declaring war; one main example is when japan invaded
Port Arthur in the Russo Japanese war which would prove to be very successful .
Many books were written prior to 1941 predicting an invasion of the Hawaiian
Islands to gain access to the United Statesmainland including The conflict of nations
, and The valor of ignorance . The United States saw the military base on Hawaiias a
point of power in the pacific and a last defense of their home land. Japan saw
Hawaii as at point of expansion and an easy way for the United States to launch an
attack on them. Attacking Pearl Harbor was not the original plan for japan. Japan
wanted to bring the United States to them, but Japanese commander in Chief
Isoroku Yamomoto pushed for an attack on the United States .pearl harbor was the
home to the United States naval fleet and many fuel reserves. One of the main
objects of japan was to destroy aircraft carriers and sink battle ships to put the
United States fleet out of action and to discourage the people of the United States to
not join the World War. The Japanese army spent over a year planning the attack and
training pilots. The Japanese even created special torpedoes to operate in pear
harbors shallow waters .
Once it came time for the execution of the plan, the Japanese sent all six of their

The Influence Of Tattoos In The American Culture
Tattoos have become more prominent in recent years in American Culture, as well
as all over the world. Approximately one out of every five Americans have a tattoo.
The American Heritage Science Dictionary defines a tattoo as a permanent mark
or design made on the skin by a process of pricking and ingraining an indelible
pigment . Many individuals choose to utilize their own bodies as an artistic
medium to create visible bodily expressions of their inner selves. For many years,
humans have used tattoos to adorn their bodies for multiple reasons personal
independence, religious beliefs, in remembrance of a loved one, showing allegiance
to a country, or gaining involvement in a social organization, club or gang.
Historically, tattoos date back over thousands of years and were created to beautify,
shock, humiliate, or narrate. Tattoos can vary by design, employing words, images,
or a combination of both. There are thousands of fonts to choose from, varying from
basic to highly ornate. Pictorial tattoos are chosen by an individualto represent a
personal event, relationship or connection. Tattoos vary in size, shape, and color, and
can be very influential and meaningful. Aspects of the tattoo depend on the
preference of the individual. Two people could have the exact same tattoo, however,
the tattoo could mean something different to each individual. Often times,
individuals even get matching tattoos as a way to show affection or love for one
another. Tattoos have become more

Comparing Wallace And Montaigne
American poet, Ralph Emerson once said that the importance of life is not length
of life, but depth of life meaning that life is not measured by how long we live on
this Earth but rather what we do with the time that we have on this Earth (
Ralph...Emerson. ). The quote by Emerson is very similar to the ideology of French
Renaissance philosopher Michel de Montaigne. Although the two men were from
two different times, like Emerson, Montaigne also preached that life need not be
measured by length but rather by use. No man knows when he is going to die
therefore we need not concentrate on our death but rather we need to concentrate on
the time we have living and achieve and accomplish as much as we can with the time
we are granted. A great example... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When talking about Montaigne s ideology and the rock genre, the two names that
come to mind are that of Kurt Cobain (lead singer of Nirvana) and Jim Morrison
(lead singer of the Doors). Like Wallace and Shukar, Morrison and Cobain also had
short lived lives, each of the two men passing away at the age of 27 ( Jim Morrison
). However, similar to Wallace and Shukar, neither of the two rock legends allowed
their short time on this Earth to affect the great impact that they had made. Although
Morrison put out more records than that of Cobain (Morrison: 9, Cobain: 3) both
man were able to achieve platinum status on numerous albums, including one
diamond status album by Cobain( Kurt Cobain ). In addition to having, platinum
and diamond status albums both men have appeared on numerous lists proclaiming
each of the two as some of the greatest musicians to live. During each of the two
men s short careers each of the two were able to accomplish so much and achieve
many awards such as for Cobain: America s music awards favorite hard rock band,
BRIT Awards best international group and numerous others ( Kurt Cobain ). In
addition, for Morrison: Grammy lifetime achievement award, Grammy hall of Fame
award, and numerous others ( Jim Morrison ). Although the two rock legends
unfortunately had to leave this Earth so soon their music continues to live on and
their impact on society

At its core, Pinterest is a form of social media specializing in the organization of
images onto online boards for those who wish to share their findings or remember
what they have discovered. As the name suggests, users take images that interest

became famous for sharing things like recipes, arts and crafts, and photography, it

to utilize distance learning to allow the teacher to roam around the classroom instead
of being stuck at the front by their desk; students can also manipulate the IWB
activity from a distance to avoid having a whole class full of students trying to push

learning experience their own, and teachers get the benefit of seeing their students

What It s Like To Be A Gang Member, By Bill Lee And We...
In both What It s Like to be a Gang Member, by Bill Lee and We Real Cool, by
Gwendolyn Brooks, gang life is portrayed as dangerous and violent, demonstrating
that gang members have to find a way to compensate and prevent themselves from
going overboard. Both passages show the toughness required to be in a gang, along
with the challenges the members face, such as peer pressure.
In the article What It s Like to be a Gang Member, by Bill Lee, gang activity is
described in detail, and the struggles of membership are shown clearly. For
example, ...when your buddies are jumping someone, there was immense peer
pressure to join in, whether you wanted to or not. This shows that some gang
members would do atrocious things just to fit in, not because they actually wanted
to do it. Beginning in the mid 1960 s, the violence in my neighborhood escalated,
and by 1970, a major gang war had erupted. This quote tells us that things got out of
hand and daily life started to get more and more fatal until a fight took place. They
didn t hold themselves back when traumatizing others. I learned early on that in the
streets, it was dog eat dog and survival of the fittest. Here, it proves that gang life is

Rhetorical Analysis Of Martin Luther King Jr
Martin Luther King Jr and The Civil Rights Movement Martin Luther King Jr was a
protestor who became the most important spokesperson and leader in the Civil
Rights Movement. He was a member of the National Association for the
Advancement of Colored People(NAACP) and in 1954, he decided to take a position
as a preacher at Dexter Avenue Church in Montgomery, Alabama. King felt as though
it was his moral duty to help the civil rights movement which is why he planned
many activities that will help get his point across. Activities such as boycotts, sit in
protest, freedom rides, and many nonviolent protests, which led to his arrest in 1963.

In fact, this is not just effecting him, it is effecting everyone around the world. He
wants them to see that the results matter and that the civil rights movement was
founded in order to make a big change in history. This is why he was describing the
many brutal incidents throughout his letter that has been accruing to African
Americans to convince many that the way they are living is not fair or right.
Furthermore, King s letter not only covers ethos and pathos, but he also tries to
demonstrate the readers logic in their laws, which is logos. He mentions how they,
whites, are nervous and afraid of them because of what they are doing. For
instance, he writes, You express a great deal of anxiety over our willingness to
break laws ( ). Yet, many of them burn churches and homes of colored people, and
beat up non whites; these are all forms of law breaking activities. While King and
his fellow protesters are doing friendly nonviolent protest. He then defines Unjust
and Just laws to show others that their laws do not have a sense of logic and do not
follow the moral laws that were given to people at birth. A just law is a manmade

The At San Francesco Or Collegio La Salle
If you are from Gejeret then you might just as well remember where Gejretians
found refuge in 1975. I was one of those who took refuge at San Francesco or
Collegio La Salle, which was administered by the Kerenite Fratelli, Fr. Michael, Fr.
Kahsay, and Fr. Demsas. Later on, I heard Fr. Demsas joined the struggle but I ve no
information if he made it to Independence Day. Also, rumor had it that afterwards, Fr.
Misghina quit the La Salle seminary, got married and left for Sweden. And there is
more of such news.
The year 1975 ushered a turbulent and terrible times for Asmara residents who
hitherto escaped the ugliness of the raging terror that was being carried out by the
Derg. Most people from Gejeret stayed at home during daytime, and at night moved
to La Salle to spend the night. Usually in the late afternoon, most of the people
packed necessary supplies, took along mattress and blankets, and bagged other items,
and headed to La Salle to spend the night. After some time, that became the daily
routine, people were convinced it was the only way to evade falling victim and face
the unimaginable cruelty and looting in the hands of the Derg security forces, the Tor
Serawti who became extremely active during the night.
Two safe places became safe havens for the residents of Gejeret: San Francesco and
La Salle. They offered relative security and peaceful night. Meanwhile, many
residents of Asmara trekked to the countryside around Asmara where they found
refuge. The rural areas
Bigger Than Life By Nicholas Ray
Nicholas Ray s Bigger Than Life is a story of an American family man who tries to
have it all and fails because of his addiction. In an effort to visually portray this,
Ray largely abandons conventional Cinemascope practices and tends to revert to
the paradigms of the Academy ratio. Rather than using Cinemascope to highlight
spectacle, Ray films a small family melodrama. Instead of splitting the screen into
thirds and adjusting the mise en scГЁne to visually fill up the screen, Ray uses
close ups, single person shots, and symmetry. He frequently divides the screen in
two at the center, essentially treating each side as an Academy ratio film. Since
Ray focuses less on clotheslining actors, he is able to bring the audience closer to
understand the psychology of Ed Avery (and physcially closer to him than most
Cinemascope films would go). The sequence towards the end of film is of
paramount importance Ray takes the tension, anger, cruelty, and derangement that
has been building throughout the film and raises it to a high enough level that Ed is
willing to kill his own son. To get this across, Ray uses composition to show Ed as
isolated, sinister, and dangerous. Two of the scenes in particular from the sequence
deviate from his regular techniques, as he stages the family in a single frame to

Ethical Issues Of The Healthcare System
Abstract The healthcare system is faced with many ethical dilemmas on a daily
basis. There are basic principles in health care that every health care worker should
practice to ensure safety and to protect the rights of others. This begins with
confidentiality. Providing patient privacy and confidentiality are essential to
promoting a bond between patients and his or her practitioners as well as
preserving the patient s dignity (Edge Grove, 2007). Under some circumstances,
patient s personal information is retrieved without their consent. While some may
view this as not an issue, others lose trust in the people they look toward to care for
them in critical times, and this can lead to legality troubles. What is Confidentiality?
Confidentiality is the ethical principle or legal right that a physician or other health
professional will hold secret all information relating to a patient, unless the patient
give consent permitting disclosures (American Heritage Medical Dictionary, 2007).
All information about a patient should remain confidential and private. The only
health care professionals that should have access to medical records are the ones
who are directly working with the patient. Patients develop bonds with health care
workers and even put their lives in the hands of strangers, with feelings of hope and
trust. When this bond is broken, not only does it directly affect relationships, but also
the quality of care. In the event of that taking place, there could be a
Extermination Camp Treblinka
Treblinka was the main extermination camp used during the hitler Nazi reign. The
Extermination camp was only around for one year but had more deaths than any
other camp. Treblinka isn t one of the well known camp but it is one of the camps
most known for it s larger extermination areas.
Treblinka death camp is located in the North eastern region of the general
government and it is also located near the Polish village of Wolka Okraglik.
Treblinka was a junction on the Warsaw Bialystok railway line that was used to
transform Jews from Warsaw to Treblinka. The germans established Treblinka to be
apart of the Akito Reinhard operation according to Holocaust Education Research
Team. The death camp was constructed to look like a 1,312 by 1,968 foot trapezoid
which they began construction on the begining of April 1942. Richard Thomalla
was the supervisor of the construction of Treblinka. Many of the workers were
forced Jews and some were from the construction company Schonbrunn from
Leipzig. They also had them build a 26 foot tall watch tower Holocaust
Encyclopedia. The death camp was divided into three parts, a reception area, living
area, and a killing area. The living area was where the german staff lived, it was also
the guards unit, administrative office, a clinic, storerooms, and workshops. There

The Global Financial Crisis Of The Treadway Commission
(...
Introduction
The business environment is constantly changing; it is unpredictable, extremely
volatile and complex. This makes businesses exposed to risk because of the nature of
the environment. It is therefore important for businesses to make strategic decisions
on how to either reduce or make the effect of the risk less severe as much as possible.
Businesses have to identify and manage their risks to ensure their success and
continuation. According to the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the
Treadway Commission (COSO), Uncertainties present both risks and opportunities,
with potential to erode or enhance value. Risk management is an increasingly
important business driver and stakeholders have become much more concerned
about risk. The 2008 2009 global financial crisis and the rapidly deteriorating
global economy has created a context in which companies now face risks that are
more complex, more interconnected, and potentially more devastating than ever
before. Failure to adequately acknowledge and effectively manage risks associated
with decisions being made throughout the organization can and often do lead to
potentially catastrophic results. Risk may be a driver of strategic decisions, it may
be a cause of uncertainty in the organization or it may simply be embedded in the
activities of the organization. A good Risk Management program means that the
company is able, first of all to identify, then to measure risks, to project, to set limits
and to keep losses
Character Analysis Of King Kong
King Kong is exciting screenplay that does a great job at demonstrating what the
characters are feeling. When the writers wanted to illustrate fear, they do so by
painting an image terror, and makes it relatable. By making a scene relatable, it helps
with the understanding of the character s motives, and gives insight to the kind of
person that character is. By having a complex villain such as King Kong, one battles
the urge to root for Kong, as well as wanting him to ceased. While writers do an
overall great job with the development of the characters, where they lacks is in love
story between Darrow and Driscoll. By not successfully developing the relationship
between Darrow and Driscoll in the beginning, love between the two feels rushed,
which therefore makes it challenging to care about their relationship. Overall King
Kong is a well written screenplay, that shows does a great job at showing what the
characters are feeling throughout.
Where the writers of the screenplay succeed is in illustrating the emotion that the
character is feeling at that moment. If one does not do this successfully, it makes it
hard to invest in the characters, and understand the situation of the scene. An
example of this is when Carl and the ship crew approach Skull Island. As they are
approaching the undiscovered island, the writers describe this thick fog that the
characters enter (47). By doing this, the writers demonstrates imagery to describe
the dark and eerie place. As the characters are unable to see through the fog, they
start to become afraid, as they fear of the unknown. An example of this being
expressed is when one of the ship crew members Hayes yells captain, you don t know
where the hell you re going (49)! Panic and terror possess the characters, and the
writers do a great of showing it.
The writers do a great job with the development of King Kong and making him a
complex character. At first, King Kong appears to be the stereotypical monster
/villain that only kills and destroys, but later in the story, King Kong shows a
different side of him that a character such as himself usually does not display. A
moment where the complexity of King Kong s character is shown is when Ann and
Kong have their first real
King Philip Essays
King Philip s War was a disturbing war fought in America in 1675, almost certainly
as a result of the early contact between the English Colonists and the Native
Americans. The Natives were, and had always been fighting for their freedom and
land, as well as their culture unharmed. Though the Natives had their own religious
beliefs, the Colonists felt that they were the greater man, and that God would play a
part by remaining on their side. The Nativesdid not trust the English with their
multiplecheated promises and such, and it was only expected that the Natives would
not believe in the English. There is no one established reason for this war, like many
wars, but it is only probable that it be a result of the many differences between...

Alexander died shortly after his reign from what is believed to have been an ill
fever of some type. At this time, Metacomet, King Philip, would become the Grand
Sachem of the Wampanoags. Philip was the predecessor of Tecumseh and was an
excellent leader of the tribe. He knew that the English would try and rid them of
their land and expand more until they wiped out his tribe totally. King Philip
would need to get other tribes to understand what the English were doing, and to
join him in the defense of their being. It wasn t long until the English learned of
this attempt at a possible revolt against them, and therefore in 1671, King Philip
was forced to a southern area in Massachusetts known as Taunton. He was ordered
to give up most of the firearms that the tribe possessed, but still kept a number of
firearms within the Indians. Further, he signed an agreement with the Colony of
Plymouth on September 29, 1671 that said his tribe would abide by colonial laws
and guidelines with war affairs and Indian land. This was just another one of the
Englishmen s ways of stripping the Wampanoag s of their power, but was probably
only indeed signed by King Philip because he was under strict enforcement, and it
would give him a little breathing room with the English.
Not forgetting about the tribes that King Philip attempted to have join them in their
revolt against the English, the Naragansett, Nipmuc, and Pocumtuc tribes all gave
their support to Philip and whatever he
Giotto Renaissance Art
Art became well known back in the pre historic era when cavemen painted pictures
on the walls. But became really popular during the Renaissances when painters and
sculptors took light. The Renaissances was a great time for art in Italy when land
was being explored and people trying to get back to their ancient Greek and Roman
roots. Writers, Scholars, and Artist alike were reawakened with inspiration from
Ancient Greek and Roman art. The origin of the Renaissancewas traced back to the
late 13th , early 14th century known as the Proto Renaissance . Writers wanted to
revive the language while artist wanted to revive the art. A Florentine artist named
Giotto was famous for painting a realistic form of the human body. But later in the

Classical Republic Characteristics
According the the world wide web the word Republic means a form of government
in which power resides in the people, and the government is ruled by elected leaders
run according to law, rather than inherited or appointed. Currently 135 out of 206
sovereigns states use the word Republic as part of there official names. Taking it back
to the Middle Ages ,when the US constitution republicwas called Classical Republics

On the other hand, in a Socialist government, they own most if not all the
businesses and property given in that country or state. There system requires health
care, affordable housing, child care programs, and crime rates seem to be low. So
over all it appears to be a good stable government to be under, but the downside is
that they don t let citizens for self improvement, bettering ourselves. For example,
say your an immigrant from Mexico , coming to America to work hard to improve
your circumstances, and in so doing improve yourself. You would look for a better
job, or seek out some form of higher education or skill training in order to correct
the issue of being poor. While in a socialist country thats not how it flys, if you are
an American ,and you don t have the money to support yourself, you have no worries,
because the government will pay your rent, and food, removing all motivation for self
improvement.
A Direct Democracy is the complete opposite as a representative
government. A Direct Democracy, other known as the pure democracy , is when the
people themselves have the power to determine the laws policies by how they are
governed, instead of having elected

1.Explain why increasing extracellular K+ reduces the net diffusion of K+ out of
the neuron through the K+ leak channels. ___The concentration of extracellular
K+ ions would be high and this would prevent more K+ ions from diffusing out of
the cell. 2.Explain why increasing extracellular K+ causes the membrane potential
to change to a less negative value. How well did the results compare with your
prediction? ___ My prediction was that the membrane potential will not change
and that was wrong because the resting membrane potential changed from 40V to
0V. This happened because K+ diffuse out across the membrane and they leave a
net negative charge behind. ___ ___ 3.Explain why a change in extracellular Na+
did not alter the membrane potential in the resting neuron. ___ _There are less
leakage channels for Na+ compared to K+_that s why it didn t alter the membrane

Mail Order Pharmacy And Hospice Pharmacy
Pharmacy is something that i didnt think about when i first started trying to get my
goals together . All I knew was that i wanted to work in the nursing field. As i
embark on my journey to become a pharmacy, i see it is more to it than just putting
things in the computer. I also learned that there a quite a few different types of
pharmacies. My top two choices were Mail Order Pharmacyand Hospice pharmacy .
THis two are very different but also similar at the same time . Being on the outside
looking i always thought it was one type of pharmacy , but this course taught me
very differently . Through my journey, i took interest in two more pharmacies .
These pharmacies are Long Term Care Pharmacy and Telepharmacy. Let me give you

This is helpful because there is a shortage of pharmacist . Another big advantage is
for the elderly . The elderly can not always get around like they need to ; This is
why telepharmacy is a great area to be in . Lastly , a big advantage is providing
overnight pharmacy services . Long term pharmacies on the other have a
disadvantage of high cost . Depending your condition you may need to be a facility
and you may not be able to afford it because your insurance does not cover it . It
sounds good but as you get older health services are very hard to cover. As i
research job openings, it seems like it would be better in a long term care pharmacy
than any other pharmacy . Long term care pharmacies are all over , and you can
never have too many pharmacy techs . But this also pushes me to push myself to
further my education in the nursing field . It get hard but its worth it
Essay on Langston Hughes The Weary Blues
Langston Hughes The Weary Blues
Jazz music is often associated with long, lazy melodies and ornate rhythmical
patterns. The Blues, a type of jazz, also follows this similar style. Langston Hughes
poem, The Weary Blues, is no exception. The sound qualities that make up Hughes
work are intricate, yet quite apparent. Hughes use of consonance, assonance,
onomatopoeia, and rhyme in The Weary Bluesgives the poem a deep feeling of
sorrow while, at the same time, allows the reader to feel as if he or she is actually
listening to the blues sung by the poem s character.
The Blues musical move was prominent during the 1920s and 30s, a time known as
the Harlem Renaissance. Blues music characteristically told the story of ... Show more

Another place that consonance is apparent is in line 5, ?pale, dull pallor of an old
gas light. The sticky l sounds are difficult to produce off of the tongue quickly;
therefore, these words slow the poem down. This is typical of the blues. The slow
sounds of blues music are incorporated in the words of this poem. It seems as if the
words with the l sounds get extra emphasis, as well, because they are so difficult to
pronounce. Added strength through word sounds helps boost the poem s glumness.
Line 10 is another excellent example of consonance in The Weary Blues. The m
and p sounds of He made that poor piano moan with melody give the poem a
juxtaposition of warm sounds from the m to aggressive tones with the sharp p. This
is a nice element as it is characteristic of blues music, as well. Usually there are some
elements of comfort and disdain within the blues. The contrast of the m and p sounds
highlights this very well.
There is a great amount of assonance in The Weary Blues. The first example of
assonance comes right away in the poem. Line 1 opens with the long o sound in
Droning a drowsy syncopated tune and continues with Rocking back and forth to a
mellow croon in line 2. This long o sound is representative of the forlorn blues
aforementioned. The long o is repeated throughout the poem, for example in line 10

Cell Phones Dbq
Cell phones are amazing things that allow us to so many great things, but are
causing us to loose sight to what really matters? Cell phones should not be allowed
to be out during school hours but should not be completely banned from the school
campus. They are used as status symbols, a way to measure self worth and make
us lose touch with reality. Although phones help with the learning process they are
used a social status. Most kids have cell phones, and for those of which don t, the
ones who do share. They can be used to record group discussions and it gives us a
chance to be more independent(Doc #3). On the other hand they are used as a status
symbol. Jesse Scaccia says, when their phones ring while the teacher is talking

An Assortment of Memories, a Myriad of Histories
American society has traditionally been referred to as a melting pot, welcoming
people of all races, religions, and heritages to enjoy the freedom that only America
could provide. That was not always the case, as incidents such as the internment of
Japanese Americans at Manzanar and the Lewis and Clark journey along the
Columbia River exhibited American racial intolerance and demonstrated the inherent
racism of the Manifest Destiny an ideal upon which this nation was founded. Today,
government agencies such as the National Park Service (NPS) aim to repair the
United Statesnegative reputation by creating national historic sites, which serve as
either a celebration of American historyor an apologetic reminder of events that can
never... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is a major reason why the National Park Service essentially contradicts itself
and fails in its goals to create a unified history for all Americans. The treatment of
memory at the Manzanar historical site specifically shows that the way in which the
National Park Service treats historical sites containing foreign heritage will never be
able to create a single, shared history for all Americans. One source of tension
derivative of this project is the grossly generic incorporation of specific stories within
Manzanar in its conversion from purely a site of tragic memory to a site of National
memory. The production of this national memory tends to absorb the meaning of
individual and group histories, especially when that group represents an ethnic
minority (Hayashi 55). This absorption ignores specific stories of Japanese immigrant
experience at the site, creating a universally incorrect generic representation of the
experience and painting an incomplete picture of the events that occurred there. To
paint an incomplete picture of a historical site is to contest the memories of the ethnic
minorities who were there. When asked about this limited representation of Japanese
immigrant history represented at the site, Jerry Rogers, Associate Director of Cultural
Resources for the National Park Service, stated

(Colo. 1974), the Court sets forth The essence of procedural due process is

be heard prior to state action resulting in deprivation of a significant property
interest. The test set forth in Mathews establishes the requirements for determining if
a fishing license should be revoked. When applying this test you see that 1. Mr.
Kendall has a vested interest in the fishing license, 2. There is a risk of depriving Mr.
Kendall erroneously of his license, and 3. The government has an interest is keeping
Mr. Kendall within the perimeters of his license. Additionally, when looking to
Mathews, the Court decided that the license holder can only have their license taken
away if they are convicted of a criminal offense. Mr. Kendall was not convicted of a
criminal offense. It is seen in Woodrow and Mountain States, that in an administrative
hearing the defendant must be given adequate notice and the opportunity to be heard.
Woodrow also establishes that the opportunity to be heard can be accomplished
without an actual hearing. Mr. Kendall was informed of the administrative hearing
and had the opportunity to submit evidence on his behalf. Mountain States is clear
when it states that the defendant must have an opportunity to be heard prior

Essay My Best Teacher. 10 lines on my teacher 1 in 2023 My teacher essay, My best teacher ...

  • 1. Essay My Best Teacher Crafting an essay on the topic "Essay My Best Teacher" may seem like a straightforward task at first glance, but delving into the intricacies of this theme reveals the complexity that lies beneath the surface. The difficulty arises not from a lack of material but rather from the challenge of encapsulating the essence of a teacher-student relationship within the confines of an essay. The primary hurdle lies in the subjective nature of the topic. Each individual's experience with their best teacher is unique, making it challenging to formulate a universally relatable narrative. The diversity of teaching styles, personalities, and impacts further complicates the task. The writer must carefully navigate through personal anecdotes, reflections, and emotions, aiming to strike a balance that resonates with a broad audience while still capturing the essence of their specific experience. Moreover, the essay demands a nuanced exploration of the qualities that define an exemplary teacher. It requires the writer to delve into the realms of mentorship, inspiration, and the transformative power of education. Balancing personal sentiments with broader insights about effective teaching adds another layer of intricacy. Another aspect that contributes to the complexity is the potential for clichГ©s and overused expressions. The topic itself can evoke sentimental responses that may lead to generic portrayals of the teacher-student relationship. The challenge is to infuse originality and authenticity into the narrative, steering clear of common tropes. Furthermore, the writer must grapple with the task of creating a compelling structure that seamlessly weaves together personal experiences, reflections, and broader insights. The essay needs to engage the reader from the introduction to the conclusion, maintaining a coherent flow while exploring various dimensions of the teacher-student dynamic. In conclusion, while the topic "Essay My Best Teacher" may seem simple at first, the intricate dance between personal anecdotes, universal insights, and the need for originality elevates the difficulty level. Successfully navigating these challenges requires a thoughtful and skillful approach to ensure the essay not only pays homage to an exceptional teacher but also resonates with a diverse audience. For assistance with similar essays or any other writing challenges, a valuable resource is HelpWriting.net, where a range of writing services can be explored to aid in expressing thoughts, ideas, and experiences effectively. • 2. How John Smith s Advertising Campaign Achieved its Success... How John Smith s Advertising Campaign Achieved its Success The advertising campaign for John Smith s beer achieved its success using a variety of techniques. The main reason for the achievement was the approach that the producers took. The purpose of the adverts was evidently to encourage the public to buy John Smith s beer. Analysing the audience allowed them to aim their adverts to people who would be most likely to purchase the product. Once the purpose and audience were summarised, the content and ideas for the adverts were produced. They supplemented the campaign s success by using Peter Kay, a recognisable comedian, and various storylines for each advert, which attracted the correct ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In normal society, this sort of parenting would be disgusting, but it is the complete opposite here and provides humour to the target audience. At the end of this advert, the text NO NONSENSE appears in a blood dripping, red font and the screen shakes with a wardrobe, faded in the background. This emphasises what happened in the advert and the slogan NO NONSENSE refers here to not worrying about monsters in the wardrobe, but burglars breaking through the windows. This presents other brands as pathetic and having the wrong priorities for their customer, enhancing the advantage of John Smith s beer being no nonsense and therefore encouraging people to buy it. Also, a pint of beer is shown on the ending shot to remind viewers of the product being sold. The target audience can relate to this because it seems down to earth and also these images will remain in people s minds because of the humour and characterisation used. Secondly, the target audience for the adverts is the middle aged, beer drinking man. This is attained by the main character, Peter Kay (who plays John Smith). He represents the majority of the audience and is displayed in the adverts as wearing normal, casual clothes (jeans, T shirts, jumpers) and doing things that
  • 3. Summary Of The Phantom Menace By Padme Amidale In 1999, The Phantom Menace was released into theaters. The beginning of the saga was brought to understand where the original trilogy s villain origin story came from and where the famous twins Luke and Leia came from. Leia stole the hearts of many in the original trilogy and it was now her mother s turn to take the spotlight. Many did not welcome her character with open arms and rejected her. She was the young naГЇve queen with a crazy fashion sense who had a crush on a nine year old boy. At a very young age, Padme was interested in politics which happens to be a male dominated career. Fourteen year old Padme Amidala was elected queen of Naboo. While many would call her naГЇve, the planet elected the young for their purity and believed age brought corruption. Age could have brought naivety, but Padme had proven herself a leader her people trusted that once her second term ended they wanted her to continue leading the planet. In episode I, Amidala deals with the struggle of the Trade Federation who wants the planet to surrender to them while they are controlled by Darth Sidious. It was a plan to gain control over the galaxy with easier access since the young can be easily influenced. Amidala refused that easy access over her planet from the Trade Federation. She is level headed to not directly take action for war but to persuade the senate for a plead of help. When the escape to Coruscant is delayed, she takes the opportunity to widen her knowledge about the planet Tatooine
  • 4. Grice s Cooperative Principle And Kinds Of Pragmatics... This chapter explains an overview of related theories, which are the pragmatics theory by George Yule including the Grice s cooperative principle and kinds of maxim according to Grice. 2.1 Pragmatics According to Yule (1996), pragmatics is concerned with the study of meaning as communicated by a speaker (or writer) and interpreted by a listener (or reader). Pragmatics focuses more on how we achieve meaning in a particular context, by considering such factors as how, where and when something is said, who says it, what is the relationship between the speaker and the listener, and how we understand the use of ambiguous language (Baker and Ellece, 2011, p.100). In other words, pragmatics is the study of speaker meaning. Therefore, from the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 67). In other words, flouting the maxim of quality occurs when a speaker says something which needs to be considered as blatantly untrue. For example: Mark: Great, that s really great! That s made my Christmas! Mark is a speaker who says something which is considered as blatantly untrue, because at that time, he got accident on the day, and he wishes it will be happiness day. He became upset that made him say something which is blatantly untrue. So, the speaker blatantly fails to observe a maxim in order to lead the hearer to look for implied meaning or in this situation the hearer already knows that Mark says the opposite. 2.1.2.3Flouting Maxim of Relation Thomas (1996) said that the maxim of relation is exploited by making a response or observation which is very obviously irrelevant to the topic in hand (p.70). So, the speaker flouts the maxim of relation if his/her contribution is not relevant. For

But one of the largest, most spoken, and unsolved questions in every history book of mankind is: Who created us? Was it God or was it through the science of bacteria and evolution? KRYPTON and EARTHPLANETARY DATA COMPARISON: Krypton, a planet distant from ours, and much, much older, 8.7 billion years in fact. This was before it imploded around two decades ago; the reason: deteriorated ozone, exhausted natural resources, and over population for years. It was desolate with rare sights of vegetation, and the peoples had to scavenge the landscape to survive its brutal climate changes. But long ago, in a time of exploration of art and science, and expansion, the Kryptonians spread out through the ocean of stars, seeking new worlds to settle upon, colonizing. The race of aliens created spacecrafts which had organic structures, similar to the landscape of Krypton. The spacecraft would be one of the great machines that would reshape environments, or terraform, changing the atmospheres to suitable standards to support Kryptonian life. What changed was that Krypton had suffered from over population and artificial population was established. Artificial population was able to be done because of the Kryptonians discovering that they could tamper with their own DNA, changing it, and creating new forms of life, but which would retain the physiology of their own, even through the tampering. The outposts and space exploration were abandoned, and the Kryptonians had exhausted their natural resources. As a result, to find a source of power, Kryptonians scientists began harvesting the core of the planet, which made Krypton s core unstable. Over time, Krypton became unable to support artificial population and began resorting back to natural birth, but the population was lowered and steadied. This would only save Krypton for a few more centuries before its
  • 6. History Of Sam Phillips Sam Phillips founded Memphis Recording Services in the early 1950s to record any and every artist interested in performing at his studio, he had no particular limits on who the artists were expected to be or what they were supposed to be singing as long as they made him money. The early years would be spent primarily recording bluesartists such as B. B. King, Rufus Thomas, Rosco Gordon, Joe Hill Louis, and Howlin Wolf. Sam Phillips vision was to bring artists as well as genres together and work alongside them with the objective to create an entirely new style of music. The studio s name was later changed to Sun Studios, a name that would end up leaving a legacy that introduced the world to some of the founding fathers and mothers of rock and roll. Of the countless artists recorded... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His philosophy was similar to that of Sam Phillips in that he was willing to accept artists from anywhere on his way to the top, if he could profit from an artist, a deal could be made. He differed from Sun Studios with his approach to as well as appreciation for artists though as he was careless and burned relationships with supremely talented artists. He grew up in the Bronx playing guitar and piano and composed music while still in his teenage years, all of which proved to be important tools in his producing studio. He reportedly had the extraordinary ability to organize music with artists to perfection in addition to a recording technique that some referred to as the Wall of Sound. Basically, the wall of sound was a unique style resembling a raucous roar which was created by many instruments being played as loudly as possible, mixed with an echoing effect. Phil Spector s success is evidenced by the many top hits he orchestrated though his studio by artists such as the Crystals, Ronettes, Righteous Brothers, and Ike and Tina

  • 8. The Family Relation, As Affected By Charles K. Slavery separated families when children were young and took advantage of childbearing women, leading to a long lasting detrimental effect on African American family unity. Although slavery is commonly known to have taken place in 18th and 19th centuries, family values from slavery have trickled into recent times, as spoken of Barack Obama in (date). Well after the historic end of slavery, pieces were written about the distorted familyvalues between previously enslaved families, one being The Family Relation, as Affected by Slavery by Charles K. Whipple. Although some slave masters may have chosen to keep families together, that was not the case for Frederick Douglass. Separated from his mother during childhood, having a master that could... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The connection between a mother s death and the death of a stranger evokes an understanding from the reader that Douglass was allowed very different values of family than many people today. Although Douglass was separated from the family closest to him, there was a small period in which he was separated from viewing the cruel violence surrounding him. Douglass lived with his grandmother when he was young, her filling in the role of the old woman that young children were placed with, as quoted above. He mentions that he had been out of the way of the bloody scenes that often occurred on the plantation until he witessed a master beating his aunt (13). Slaves in the 1930s during the Great Depression were interviewed by the Federal Writers Project, and many had very strong opinions about their families being separated. John W. Fields, a slave in Kentucky, described the process of drawing names from a hat to determine his new master, saying, I can t describe the heartbreak and horror of that separation. I was only six years old... . Another slave of Kentucky, John Rudd, describes his view on selling family by, If n you wants to know what unhappiness means... jess n you stand on the Slave Block and hear the
  • 9. United States Postal Service UNIT 1 INDIVIDUAL PROJECT MGT 485 0903B 03 GLOBAL STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT ALFRED SIU AUGUST 30, 2009 BY: TINA RAULERSON The most concerning threat USPS faces is the rise in operating expenses, particularly the increase in energy prices and health insurance premiums. Energy prices are at all time highs. With USPS dependency in both, air and ground transportation, energy prices will play a major role in the company s budget. USPS is part of the Federal Employee Health Benefit program and premiums for these benefits have steadily increased over the last couple of years. For example, premiums increased in 2003 by 11.1%. Health benefit payments increased 14% in 2003 from 2002, and by 15.8% in 2004 from 2003 levels.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Long Term Action Plan USPS should gradually replace their aging delivery vehicles with hybrid or electric vehicles to reduce delivery costs and dependency on gas. A hybrid vehicle not only saves the Postal Service32 40% on fuel costs (roughly $1200/car/year based on 30k miles), depending on the vehicle, but USPS would also receive a $3,000 tax incentive on every vehicle. In cities, electric vehicles or SMART cars could be used since delivery routes are shorter with frequent stops. Aside from being fuel efficient, they adhere to the ever stricter emissions rules. With well over 200,000 postal vehicles currently in the system, savings would approach the $1billion mark. Since USPS has monopoly in Standard Mail, prices in this sector should be raised while prices in the package delivery sector should be lowered, albeit marginally, in order to attract higher market share. A raise in first class postage of a little over 8% to $.40 is presently being reviewed. Higher revenues would result from the newly raised prices in the monopolized Standard Mail market, while higher volume sales from the package delivery segment would boost revenues. USPS should first appeal to the US government to leave the Federal Employee Health Benefit program. The author, Henrik Ibsen, creates a scenario which highlights the faults of his main character, Hedda Tesman, showing the audience where her true priorities lie. Throughout the play Hedda s character begins to regress, obsessively trying to gain control over those around her by plotting characters against each other and skillfully manipulating them. Devolving into a caged manic when she is unable to get her ways, she becomes trapped in a marriage that brings out her worst attributes. Ibsen brings about Heddas instability slowly, using character Judge Brack to show how an already unhappy woman can become a ticking bomb under marital restrictions. Putting her into more and more precarious situations , until, inevitably, she explodes. Ibsen s use of literary foils highlights Heddas weaknesses, revealing her true nature of cowardice. Building to her ultimate demise, brought about between the collision of [her lack of] control and fear. As in trying to gain control of others, you ll lose control of yourself. Hedda Tesman has many visitors over the couple of days that we see of her life, but a frequent visitor that leaves a lasting impression is Judge Brack; an older man that is held with high respects by all. He has power in the community and is able to pass through people s lives without much talk, judging those who he saw fit to judge. His

This quote is saying that communism is a way to conquer your enemies. The People s Republic of China shares many similarities with the Republic in the book Legend. They are both communist, militarily run nations, where the citizen s rights are oppressed, and they are both totalitarian states. Both governments treat their people dreadfully, although they claim their people are treated fine. The People s Republic of China is a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council, and they say that people should be treated fairly. However, they commit some the most heinous human rights violations on the planet. They have prisons built specifically to torture the inmates, although the government denies having them. During Mao Zedong s rule, millions of people were declared psychologically ill, and were barred from work if they did not support his administration. This process still continues, only at a much smaller scale. The People s Republic of China has committed many minimum wage violations, such as refusing to pay their worker s their nation s set minimum wage, along with forcing extensive work hours on their workers, and allowing inappropriate actions towards workers by employers/managers. The Chinese government has facilities where they re educate the people who commit crimes. The re education is usually 3 years long, and is for minor crimes. • 12. Effects Of The Vietnam War On American People Essay The Vietnam War greatly changed America forever. It was the longest war fought in America s history, lasting from 1955 to 1973.The war had two major effects on American people. First, the Vietnam War tarnished America s self image by becoming the first time in history the United States failed to accomplish its stated war aims, to preserve a separate, independent, noncommunist government. It was the first war ever broadcast on television. The public was able to see what happened on the battlefield. Second, one of the chief effects of the war was the division it caused among the people. Not since the Civil War had America been so divided. This war would have lasting affects on the United States. To better understand the horrors of the war, I will narrate the story from the perspective of my grandfather with a few personal opinions injected in between my grandfather s thoughts. It was 1961 in, Jacksonville ,Florida when I first enlisted in the marines at the age of 20. I then served four years and was discharged in 1964. Prior to enlisting into the Marines I had to prep myself mentally and physically. For six months I had to whip myself in shape. In the marine corps, you must pass a physical fitness test every six months. A perfect score of 300 is usually achieved by doing twenty dead hang pull ups, 100 crunches in twenty seconds and a three mile run in twenty eight minutes. Now that threw me for loop, but my general told me you don t have to be perfect to enlist, but to

Marx s manifesto dangerously presented a worldview based on totalitarianism and humanization of armed conflict. The FLQ paraded Communist ideology as a revolutionary tactic to promote change, yet seemingly failed to realize the flaws associated with it, both politically and morally. Trudeau deemed it necessary to act as he did as the FLQ continuously promoted a hardline, and very literal understanding, ultimately culminating in the publication and distribution of an FLQ manifesto, which brazenly stated, We are the workers of QuГ©bec and we will continue to the bitter end. We want to replace the slave society with a free society, functioning by itself and for itself; a society open to the world (Belanger, 2007). Trudeau was adept at realizing how impactful a persuasive outside influence could be on minority populations who felt left behind by a changing Canada. Being French himself, he openly acknowledged the need to not alienate a large amount of Canada in his process in dealing with the issue, yet had to be strong willed in the face of terror. Communism contradicts many of the societal factors which democracy takes for granted, and it became apparent as the FLQ gained influence that their perception become increasingly more nationalistic. • 16. The Looking Glass Reflection Fantasy will always be more cherished than reality. Our imaginations give way to disappointment when it s time to buckle down and come back to the real world. However, for Nellie this is quite the opposite. In Anton Chekhov s The Looking Glass character development, symbolism, and diction are used to communicate that reality upsets our expectations. Character Development is one of the most effective tools used to communicate the overall theme of The Looking Glass. Character Development is used in The Looking Glass to show the change of Nellie s perspective from the beginning of her vision to the end. In this excerpt, Nellie describes what she sees in the mirror It was he, the destined one, the object of long dreams and hopes. The destined one was for Nellie everything, the significance of life, personal happiness, career. Nellie s filled with new found wonder and excitement when she catches a glimpse of what she presumes to be her future husband. In Nellie s perspective her life has always been building up to find the perfect man and that man now stands before her in the mirror. It s apparent that not only did Nellie idolize her husband but she s seems very naive to not consider all the bad things that come with marriage. Life will test a relationship between wife and husband Nellie s perspective changes dramatically towards the end of the book, She looked into the looking glass and saw a pale, tear stained face. There was no grey background now. I must have fallen asleep, she thought with a sigh of relief. (Chekhov 7). Nellie has seen the full preview of what her life is supposed to be and she s horrified. Nellie no longer is a victim of her own naive complex she fully realizes that life is no picnic. The development of Nellie s perspective of what seemed like a bright future has been shattered by the universal fact that reality upsets expectations. We can never be certain of our future and setting up false hopes is setting yourself up for a rude awakening to reality. Character development was instrumental to the theme because it proves the point that our expectations for our future is not certainly not what we will receive no matter how hard we try to work towards. Chekhov s word choice in this
  • 17. Crime And Deviance In The Dark Knight By Christopher Nolan Throughout The Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan crime and deviance is seen throughout the film. Crime and deviance in The Dark Knight has two faces as society accepts crime for those whose are helping them and at the same time punishes those who are punished. Society in Gotham accepts crime when the Batmancommits it to help for the betterment of society; however, crimeis not accepted when it is committed by mob bosses, gangs, criminal cops, and most importantly through the joker. The forms of deviancy/crime which are seen throughout the film is the Labeling Approach, Human Rights Approach, and Human Diversity Approach. The Labelling Approach is a theory in which an individual s identity is determined or influenced by the terms that is used to describe or classify them, through the use of serotyping someone. This is seen within The Dark Knightwhen the Joker recruits those who have been labelled as mentally insane, or have been outcast by society. This makes them believe that have a sense of being within society as they start to create their own society, and those who do not follow the norms that the Joker puts into place. Through allowing the joker to recruit those who have a negative label, do to the Joker having a label himself of being a villain by both sides of society. Not being accepted by anyone, even his own, which forces him to act on such a label through committing crimes that are not even the norms of the criminal society. This behavior is being seen as a rationale by both sides of society the general public, and criminals by not allowing the Joker and his associates fit within the norms that are being set for them. This also helps society within Gotham to make sure that those with a label are not socially accepted such as those that have a mental illness, and who perform criminal acts. However, at the same time it gives the people of Gotham as a sense of power over those that have a label, and the sense that they have a position over society. Furthermore, the Human Rights Approach argues that crime occurs whenever a human right is violated, no matter of what context the crime is being committed, regardless of whether the crime was legal or not. This is seen within The Dark Knight when

Many books were written prior to 1941 predicting an invasion of the Hawaiian Islands to gain access to the United Statesmainland including The conflict of nations , and The valor of ignorance . The United States saw the military base on Hawaiias a point of power in the pacific and a last defense of their home land. Japan saw Hawaii as at point of expansion and an easy way for the United States to launch an attack on them. Attacking Pearl Harbor was not the original plan for japan. Japan wanted to bring the United States to them, but Japanese commander in Chief Isoroku Yamomoto pushed for an attack on the United States .pearl harbor was the home to the United States naval fleet and many fuel reserves. One of the main objects of japan was to destroy aircraft carriers and sink battle ships to put the United States fleet out of action and to discourage the people of the United States to not join the World War. The Japanese army spent over a year planning the attack and training pilots. The Japanese even created special torpedoes to operate in pear harbors shallow waters . Once it came time for the execution of the plan, the Japanese sent all six of their aircraft

Approximately one out of every five Americans have a tattoo. The American Heritage Science Dictionary defines a tattoo as a permanent mark or design made on the skin by a process of pricking and ingraining an indelible pigment . Many individuals choose to utilize their own bodies as an artistic medium to create visible bodily expressions of their inner selves. For many years, humans have used tattoos to adorn their bodies for multiple reasons personal independence, religious beliefs, in remembrance of a loved one, showing allegiance to a country, or gaining involvement in a social organization, club or gang. Historically, tattoos date back over thousands of years and were created to beautify, shock, humiliate, or narrate. Tattoos can vary by design, employing words, images, or a combination of both. There are thousands of fonts to choose from, varying from basic to highly ornate. Pictorial tattoos are chosen by an individualto represent a personal event, relationship or connection. Tattoos vary in size, shape, and color, and can be very influential and meaningful. Aspects of the tattoo depend on the preference of the individual. Two people could have the exact same tattoo, however, the tattoo could mean something different to each individual. Often times, individuals even get matching tattoos as a way to show affection or love for one another. Tattoos have become more

The quote by Emerson is very similar to the ideology of French Renaissance philosopher Michel de Montaigne. Although the two men were from two different times, like Emerson, Montaigne also preached that life need not be measured by length but rather by use. While Pinterest originally became famous for sharing things like recipes, arts and crafts, and photography, it has developed further into an image oriented advertising like media outlet, which allows users to trace an idea to other websites beyond Pinterest. For example, within the 10 Ways to use your Interactive Whiteboard post, teachers are encouraged to use the IWB as a way to take attendance children walk into class or using Powerpoint games to appeal to students kinesthetic learning needs. In Interactive Whiteboard Success Tips, Natalie Lorenzi encourages teachers to utilize distance learning to allow the teacher to roam around the classroom instead of being stuck at the front by their desk; students can also manipulate the IWB activity from a distance to avoid having a whole class full of students trying to push their way to the board. Most people from Gejeret stayed at home during daytime, and at night moved to La Salle to spend the night. Usually in the late afternoon, most of the people packed necessary supplies, took along mattress and blankets, and bagged other items, and headed to La Salle to spend the night. After some time, that became the daily routine, people were convinced it was the only way to evade falling victim and face the unimaginable cruelty and looting in the hands of the Derg security forces, the Tor Serawti who became extremely active during the night. • 38. Bigger Than Life By Nicholas Ray Nicholas Ray s Bigger Than Life is a story of an American family man who tries to have it all and fails because of his addiction. In an effort to visually portray this, Ray largely abandons conventional Cinemascope practices and tends to revert to the paradigms of the Academy ratio. Rather than using Cinemascope to highlight spectacle, Ray films a small family melodrama. Instead of splitting the screen into thirds and adjusting the mise en scГЁne to visually fill up the screen, Ray uses close ups, single person shots, and symmetry. He frequently divides the screen in two at the center, essentially treating each side as an Academy ratio film. Since Ray focuses less on clotheslining actors, he is able to bring the audience closer to understand the psychology of Ed Avery (and physcially closer to him than most Cinemascope films would go). The sequence towards the end of film is of paramount importance Ray takes the tension, anger, cruelty, and derangement that has been building throughout the film and raises it to a high enough level that Ed is willing to kill his own son. To get this across, Ray uses composition to show Ed as isolated, sinister, and dangerous. Two of the scenes in particular from the sequence deviate from his regular techniques, as he stages the family in a single frame to highlight the growing distance between them all. Throughout the film, Ray used close ups to show Ed s mental state; in this sequence, Ray largely abandons that technique Ed s state of mind
  • 39. Ethical Issues Of The Healthcare System Abstract The healthcare system is faced with many ethical dilemmas on a daily basis. There are basic principles in health care that every health care worker should practice to ensure safety and to protect the rights of others. This begins with confidentiality. Providing patient privacy and confidentiality are essential to promoting a bond between patients and his or her practitioners as well as preserving the patient s dignity (Edge Grove, 2007). Under some circumstances, patient s personal information is retrieved without their consent. While some may view this as not an issue, others lose trust in the people they look toward to care for them in critical times, and this can lead to legality troubles. What is Confidentiality? Confidentiality is the ethical principle or legal right that a physician or other health professional will hold secret all information relating to a patient, unless the patient give consent permitting disclosures (American Heritage Medical Dictionary, 2007). All information about a patient should remain confidential and private. The only health care professionals that should have access to medical records are the ones who are directly working with the patient. Patients develop bonds with health care workers and even put their lives in the hands of strangers, with feelings of hope and trust. When this bond is broken, not only does it directly affect relationships, but also the quality of care. In the event of that taking place, there could be a

  • 41. The Global Financial Crisis Of The Treadway Commission (... Introduction The business environment is constantly changing; it is unpredictable, extremely volatile and complex. This makes businesses exposed to risk because of the nature of the environment. It is therefore important for businesses to make strategic decisions on how to either reduce or make the effect of the risk less severe as much as possible. Businesses have to identify and manage their risks to ensure their success and continuation. According to the Committee of Sponsoring Organizations of the Treadway Commission (COSO), Uncertainties present both risks and opportunities, with potential to erode or enhance value. Risk management is an increasingly important business driver and stakeholders have become much more concerned about risk. The 2008 2009 global financial crisis and the rapidly deteriorating global economy has created a context in which companies now face risks that are more complex, more interconnected, and potentially more devastating than ever before. Failure to adequately acknowledge and effectively manage risks associated with decisions being made throughout the organization can and often do lead to potentially catastrophic results. Risk may be a driver of strategic decisions, it may be a cause of uncertainty in the organization or it may simply be embedded in the activities of the organization. A good Risk Management program means that the company is able, first of all to identify, then to measure risks, to project, to set limits and to keep losses
  • 42. Character Analysis Of King Kong King Kong is exciting screenplay that does a great job at demonstrating what the characters are feeling. When the writers wanted to illustrate fear, they do so by painting an image terror, and makes it relatable. By making a scene relatable, it helps with the understanding of the character s motives, and gives insight to the kind of person that character is. By having a complex villain such as King Kong, one battles the urge to root for Kong, as well as wanting him to ceased. While writers do an overall great job with the development of the characters, where they lacks is in love story between Darrow and Driscoll. By not successfully developing the relationship between Darrow and Driscoll in the beginning, love between the two feels rushed, which therefore makes it challenging to care about their relationship. Overall King Kong is a well written screenplay, that shows does a great job at showing what the characters are feeling throughout. Where the writers of the screenplay succeed is in illustrating the emotion that the character is feeling at that moment. If one does not do this successfully, it makes it hard to invest in the characters, and understand the situation of the scene. An example of this is when Carl and the ship crew approach Skull Island. As they are approaching the undiscovered island, the writers describe this thick fog that the characters enter (47). By doing this, the writers demonstrates imagery to describe the dark and eerie place. As the characters are unable to see through the fog, they start to become afraid, as they fear of the unknown. An example of this being expressed is when one of the ship crew members Hayes yells captain, you don t know where the hell you re going (49)! Panic and terror possess the characters, and the writers do a great of showing it. The writers do a great job with the development of King Kong and making him a complex character. At first, King Kong appears to be the stereotypical monster /villain that only kills and destroys, but later in the story, King Kong shows a different side of him that a character such as himself usually does not display. A moment where the complexity of King Kong s character is shown is when Ann and Kong have their first real

Philip was the predecessor of Tecumseh and was an excellent leader of the tribe. He knew that the English would try and rid them of their land and expand more until they wiped out his tribe totally. King Philip would need to get other tribes to understand what the English were doing, and to join him in the defense of their being. It wasn t long until the English learned of this attempt at a possible revolt against them, and therefore in 1671, King Philip was forced to a southern area in Massachusetts known as Taunton. He was ordered to give up most of the firearms that the tribe possessed, but still kept a number of firearms within the Indians. Further, he signed an agreement with the Colony of Plymouth on September 29, 1671 that said his tribe would abide by colonial laws and guidelines with war affairs and Indian land. Another place that consonance is apparent is in line 5, ?pale, dull pallor of an old gas light. The sticky l sounds are difficult to produce off of the tongue quickly; therefore, these words slow the poem down. This is typical of the blues. The slow sounds of blues music are incorporated in the words of this poem. It seems as if the words with the l sounds get extra emphasis, as well, because they are so difficult to pronounce. Added strength through word sounds helps boost the poem s glumness. Line 10 is another excellent example of consonance in The Weary Blues. The m and p sounds of He made that poor piano moan with melody give the poem a juxtaposition of warm sounds from the m to aggressive tones with the sharp p. This is a nice element as it is characteristic of blues music, as well. Usually there are some elements of comfort and disdain within the blues. The contrast of the m and p sounds highlights this very well. There is a great amount of assonance in The Weary Blues. The first example of assonance comes right away in the poem. Line 1 opens with the long o sound in Droning a drowsy syncopated tune and continues with Rocking back and forth to a mellow croon in line 2. This long o sound is representative of the forlorn blues aforementioned. The long o is repeated throughout the poem, for example in line 10 with

Cell phones should not be allowed to be out during school hours but should not be completely banned from the school campus. They are used as status symbols, a way to measure self worth and make us lose touch with reality. Although phones help with the learning process they are used a social status. Most kids have cell phones, and for those of which don t, the ones who do share. They can be used to record group discussions and it gives us a chance to be more independent(Doc #3). On the other hand they are used as a status symbol. Jesse Scaccia says, when their phones ring while the teacher is talking everyone laughs (Doc
  • 51. An Assortment of Memories, a Myriad of Histories American society has traditionally been referred to as a melting pot, welcoming people of all races, religions, and heritages to enjoy the freedom that only America could provide. That was not always the case, as incidents such as the internment of Japanese Americans at Manzanar and the Lewis and Clark journey along the Columbia River exhibited American racial intolerance and demonstrated the inherent racism of the Manifest Destiny an ideal upon which this nation was founded. Today, government agencies such as the National Park Service (NPS) aim to repair the United Statesnegative reputation by creating national historic sites, which serve as either a celebration of American historyor an apologetic reminder of events that can never... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This is a major reason why the National Park Service essentially contradicts itself and fails in its goals to create a unified history for all Americans. The treatment of memory at the Manzanar historical site specifically shows that the way in which the National Park Service treats historical sites containing foreign heritage will never be able to create a single, shared history for all Americans. One source of tension derivative of this project is the grossly generic incorporation of specific stories within Manzanar in its conversion from purely a site of tragic memory to a site of National memory. The production of this national memory tends to absorb the meaning of individual and group histories, especially when that group represents an ethnic minority (Hayashi 55). This absorption ignores specific stories of Japanese immigrant experience at the site, creating a universally incorrect generic representation of the experience and painting an incomplete picture of the events that occurred there. To paint an incomplete picture of a historical site is to contest the memories of the ethnic minorities who were there. When asked about this limited representation of Japanese immigrant history represented at the site, Jerry Rogers, Associate Director of Cultural Resources for the National Park Service, stated

In Mountain States Tel. Tel. Co. v. Department of Labor Employment, 184 Colo. 334 (Colo. 1974), the Court sets forth The essence of procedural due process is fundamental fairness. This embodies adequate advance notice and an opportunity to be heard prior to state action resulting in deprivation of a significant property interest. The test set forth in Mathews establishes the requirements for determining if a fishing license should be revoked. When applying this test you see that 1. Mr. Kendall has a vested interest in the fishing license, 2. There is a risk of depriving Mr. Kendall erroneously of his license, and 3. The government has an interest is keeping Mr. Kendall within the perimeters of his license. Additionally, when looking to Mathews, the Court decided that the license holder can only have their license taken away if they are convicted of a criminal offense. Mr. Kendall was not convicted of a criminal offense. It is seen in Woodrow and Mountain States, that in an administrative hearing the defendant must be given adequate notice and the opportunity to be heard. Woodrow also establishes that the opportunity to be heard can be accomplished without an actual hearing. Mr. Kendall was informed of the administrative hearing and had the opportunity to submit evidence on his behalf. Mountain States is clear when it states that the defendant must have an opportunity to be heard prior
