George Mason Essay
George Mason s greatest accomplishment was being the founding father of the national Bill of Rights.
He was a planter from Virginia, had grown up rich on one of the nicest and best plantations in
Alexandria, Fairfax County, Virginia.
He was an important member of the town s church, had all the best tutors growing up, and had been
raised to be a Virginian aristocrat (Miers 39).
Mason married well and had a large family of nine kids. He raised them in
Gunston Hall, a house which he had built himself (Miers 41).
He was the type of guy who, if he believed strongly enough, did not abandon his beliefs. He strongly
believed in the cause for the American Revolution (he had given his son a plantation named Lexington
), in citizen s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Slavery was another of his big issues. In this, he was slightly hypocritical.
During the debates over this topic, George Mason gave a pretty lengthy speech, letting the other
delegates know his view on the matter. He believed slavery was wrong. Mason believed it took jobs
away from the poor, and it prevented the immigration of whites. He owned slaves on his plantation,
but believed it to be a necessary evil (Solberg 280).
The slave trade was a debatable topic for him. A few northern states prohibited slavery completely and
Pennsylvania declared blacks free. Virginia and Maryland already prohibited the importation of slaves,
and Mason thought it would be a waste of law and time if South Carolina and Georgia were free to
import as many slaves as they needed or wanted. The western states were already saying they wanted
slaves for themselves and their area. Mason felt that the western land would be filled with black slaves
before anybody knew it (Solberg 280).
The Electoral College was just another example of his belief in the people being involved in the
government. He believed the people should be allowed to elect the President. He thought quot;all
power is vested in, and consequently derived from, the people, quot; (Miers 72).

Male Bashing Analysis
Annotation #3 This quote is important and stands out in the article for the reason that it brings
biological explanations to woman marking. I myself as well as the author have never been inclined
toward biological explanations in this case. It is, however, quite interesting to observe a Professor of
linguistics share his claims of this subject. I am certainly sure that along with myself, many readers
had not expected biology to come into this article.
Page 392 Then why do you think she s male bashing? He answered, with disarming honesty Because
she s a woman and she s saying things about men.

said by a male audience member. It shows that Deborah

Language Differences Between Language And Language
While language deficiency makes some significant points that only specific codes are used by
different economical groups, language difference theory raises the point of language variation and the
problem is with the way that schools are interacting and valuing the differences among students. It
must be noted language difference focus on the difference in a set of language skills held by students
of different cultural backgrounds, not a deficient set of language skills as Bernstein had described.
Labov () describes one language as not more acceptable or superior than the other, but both language
variations appropriate and acceptable within their own contexts (Emmit p.61 2010). It has been found
in STUDY that teacher themselves have an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, English as a language has been developed and adapted into what David Crystal (2013),
describes as Englishes, meaning that there are different variations of the English language to
accommodate a variety of English speaking people. Crystal (2013), explains that language variation
occurs when a group of people adjust and adapt their language and form a new variation to express or
communicate certain ideas, values and beliefs based on their personal experiences, geographical
location, and or to communicate with another foreign language. Language variations can occur due to
several reasons such as gender, culture, and race, and that as individuals our language is influenced
due to what is around us (Emmitt, 2010 p.54). It is constantly changing and adapting to its users,
insisting that there is no correct or incorrect way of speaking English, just variations which are all
equal in value. Language dialects occur relatively quickly and without too much thought, as people
use language to communicate and by adapting their existing language to what suits them at the time
(Crystal,2013 ).
Teacher play a significate role in the path that their students take within their schooling years as much
as when they finish school. It is important to remember that those early experiences with language and
literacy in the classroom will build the foundation and confidence the students will require further in
life (Cremin p. 2012). Learning

Immortan Joe
An apocalyptic story set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where
humanity is broken, and almost everyone is crazed fighting for the resources of life. Within this world
exists two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order. There s Max (Tom Hardy), a man
of action and a man of few words, who seeks a peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child
in the aftermath of the chaos. Accompanying him is Furiosa (Charlize Theron), a woman of action and
a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back
to her childhood homeland. In the film, a tyrannical leader named Immortan Joe (Hugh Keayes Byrne)

The movie was so good that I saw it twice. For me, it had nothing to do with feminism and strong
female characters who in spite of facing insurmountable odds, they succeed in a momentous way. It
also has nothing to do with masculinity, which there is actually a lot of in the film. It really has to do,
in my perspective, with effective storytelling and practical effects and stunts that make the movie
enjoyable. Fury Roads greatness comes from the movie itself not just the supposed feminist message
and the anti masculine story. If you want a feminist message, it is there if you look for it. If you want

Comparison Of G Block And H Block Sat A Piece Of...
Between G Block and H Block sat a piece of corrugated iron tubing. Soggy leaves and bark were
smeared along the outside of it. Inside was dry earth and cold silver. That was where we went, Del and
I. I thought it looked like the poor man s version of a piece of playground equipment. From a
playground from not too far away, on the other side of the river bank away, closer to the worst kind of
civilisation. A human hamster wheel that was what it was called. When a person lies inside and there s
light at either ends of the tunnel and you have to peddle fast with your hands and feet, all the way
round in a cylindrical loop. Not so easy to stop. Not suitable for children under four that s what the
sign would say, even when it was smeared with a streak of blue from a can of spray paint. The four
year olds would go in and fall out and break an arm over the course of an afternoon play session. A
council inspector in a striped high visibility vest would arrive to look over the equipment. Then they
would walk past us and look up at the abandoned buildings of Briar Hills High School and shake their
head at the eyesore. They would probably write some notes too. One of us would go outside just to
burst a tyre on their car. The council always parked in the same place marked with a faded yellow line.
It was right in front of the barrier which looked like a brittle and old fence to them but to us it meant
we could hide and forget. When they parked near the barrier it was too close.

think I have anything in common with Brian but you never really know for sure. Brian is a very smart
guy. He is very book smart, I am more of a common sense kind of guy. Brian was always the odd man

saw each other in the halls you knew they would treat him the way they always had. He would still be

The Problem with Abstinence-Only
The Problem With Abstinence Only Long before the development of iconic male dominated American
culture, the ideals of a patriarchal society have been implemented within the foundations of multiple
civilizations, serving to dictate the actions of its individuals under the black and white confines of
social constructions like gender roles, gender binary, sex roles, and many other aspects of everyday
life that are still present at this very moment. One of the most crucial elements of contemporary
American society that these limiting patriarchal values have latched onto is the comprehensive sexual
education of its youth. Undoubtedly, those who need it most are almost always doomed to receive the

Rather than implementing these standard curriculum checkpoints as a reflection of social and
scientific research just like any fundamental education program should be, these eight points are
founded upon a values agenda invoked by radically conservative members of Congress with the
specific intent of applying these ideals using hetero normative, homophobic, and appallingly
misogynistic teaching methods. A 2004 investigation by the staff of the House Government Reform
Committee revealed that many abstinence based lessons contain false, misleading, or distorted
information , with instructors teaching things like pregnancy can result from touching another person s
genitals , women who have an abortion are more prone to suicide , and half of gay males in in the US

Analysis Of Do The Right Thing
There are many films in this world that tackle the topic of race. It is an unfortunate truth that leads to
many options when choosing a film to show to the students of Coe College. With a large majority of
the students at Coe being white, choosing a film that addresses the themes of racism in the 20th
century is something that can be a sensitive subject. It is the reason that a film that addresses tension
among different race on a block in Bed Sty is the most appropriate for the audience at Coe College.
The film Do The Right Thing, directed by Spike Lee, challenges the characters in the film, along with
the audience viewing the film to form opinions on sensitive subjects and to do the right thing in a
difficult situation.Spike Lee uses the film, Do The Right Thing, to address racial tension in the 20th
century through his use of color, camera framing and narrative. One of the most striking scenes begins
in the first forty minutes of the film. The scene starts off with the music becoming slow and haunting,
a difference from the high beat music that was playing before, while a police car slowly drives down
the street in the neighborhood of mostly people of color. The camera then cuts to the three black men
who sit on the corner, Sweet Dick Willie, Coconut Sid, and ML. The camera pans across the three
faces, all showing critical glares at the police car. The policeman in the passenger seat is then shown,
displaying a similar glare to the black men. The tension can be felt in

The Election Commision in Malaysia
The election was the process of electing a leader to govern the country and this system are
implemented in most of the democratic country. The election processes are important in order to get
the leader that can run the country in harmony and peace. According to Lim Hong Hai (N/A), the
electoral system is important because it applies an essential and liberated effect on electoral outcomes,
and hence on the balance of benefit among contestants in the fight for representation and power in the
political system. In Malaysia, the electoral processes are done after 5 years. This election process
began after Malaysia got its independence as a condition from the colonial master. Malaysia is the
example one of the Muslim country that has held periodic national and state level of the election since
its independence (Syed Aribi Idid, 2008). Besides that, there a many levels of the election like the
parliamentary elections, elections at the state level, by elections, and elections for the senate and
election of the Yang Di Pertuan Agong. However, the most popular election event is the by election
and there are six steps in the by election process which are consist of the issuance of the writ,
nomination, election campaign, polling, counting votes, and lastly announcement of the election
results.

The Collapse of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge Essay
The Collapse of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge
The Tacoma Narrows Bridge is perhaps the most notorious failure in the world of engineering. It
collapsed on November 7, 1940 just months after its opening on July 1, 1940. It was designed by Leon
Moisseiff and at its time it was the third largest suspension bridge in the world with a center span of
over half a mile long. The bridge was very narrow and sleek giving it a look of grace, but this design
made it very flexible in the wind. Nicknamed the Galloping Gertie, because of its undulating behavior,
the Tacoma Narrows Bridge drew the attention of motorists seeking a cheap thrill. Drivers felt that
they were driving on a roller coaster, as they would disappear from sight in the trough of ... Show

It is shaped in a way to transfer weight to the towers and anchors with its tension (O Connor, 1971, p.
372). Cables are made of high strength wires spirally bound to form a rope (O Connor, 1971, p. 372).
Vertical cable suspenders that are fastened to the main cables hang the actual roadway. Stiffening
girders and trusses are along the side of the bridge to distribute concentrated loads and help to keep
the motion of the bridge at a minimum (Troitsky, 1994, p115).
The basic design of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge itself was a suspension bridge with a center span of
2800 feet and two side spans of one 1100 feet (Farquharson, 1950, p. 17). Its two lane, reinforced
concrete roadway was twenty six feet wide with two 5 foot, 9 inch sidewalks (Farquharson, 1950, p.
19). Overall the superstructure was 5939 feet, including the suspension structures, approach spans and
anchorages (Farquharson, 1950, p. 19). Anchorages were made of solid concrete and were fifty feet by
170 feet and were fifty feet high (Farquharson, 1950, p. 19). The main towers which the cables saddle
were 425 feet in height and with a spacing of thirty nine feet at the top and fifty feet at the bottom
(Farquharson, 1950, p. 19). Each cable consisted of nineteen strands of galvanized wire and totaled a
diameter of seventeen inches. The design of the bridge may sound rather large and structurally stable
but as mentioned before the bridge was designed to be very sleek looking. By

Mri Of The Knee Ligament Tear
MRI of the knee Anterior Cruciate Ligament Tear
Introduction
The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is an important structure in maintaining the normal
biomechanics of the knee and is the most commonly injured knee ligament. ACL tears may be partial
or complete. A partial tear can involve both or only a single bundle to varying degree, can range from
a minor tear involving just a few fibers to a high grade near complete tear involving almost all of the
ACL fibers.
Anatomy and physiology
The ACL originates from the medial and anterior aspect of the tibial plateau and runs superiorly,
laterally, and posteriorly toward its insertion on the lateral femoral condyle. Together with the
posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), the ACL guides the instantaneous center of rotation of the knee,
therefore controlling joint kinematics. To a lesser degree, the ACL checks extension and
hyperextension. The ACL is not as strong as the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), and it is less strong
at its femoral origin than at its tibial insertion. Muscles surrounding the knee joint contribute to knee
stabilization during lower extremity movements.
Mechanism of injury
Mechanisms of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury are numerous. These injuries plague both
athletes and non athletes. ACL injury is most prevalent (1 in 1,750 persons) in patients 15 45 years of
age. It is more common in this age group in part because of their more active lifestyle as well as
higher participation in sports.

her self worth. By getting married she hopes to overcome her problems and considers any gentleman

Imagery In Nadja
Nadja by Andre Breton writes about his revelation in exploration if his identity and experiences in
Paris. Specifically, he focuses on what he values about the city, the artists, writers and the woman who
he briefly had a relationship with, Nadja. Breton introduces the book with a question to himself, who
am I? Considering this, he continues to highlight the theme of haunting and ghostliness in relations
with identity. Even though the title of the book is Nadja, Breton focuses more on the ghostly identity
of the city. Therefore this essay will argue how Andre Breton uses ghostly imagery of the city, to
illustrate the past self and present self; in the hopes that he discovers the purpose of his existence.
Andre Breton is interested Paris because it drives him to question how the city influences identity;
through ghostliness and hauntological theme of the city that is highlighted in Nadja. Moreover Breton

Critical Thinking Essay
INTRODUCTION Critical thinking has been defined in great depth over thousands of years yet
comparison of many of these definitions show the emphasis alters between what characteristic is
deemed most important for each individual. However the definition alters, the same three important
principles are always included: scepticism, open mindedness and objectivity. It is important for each
individual to conclude his or her own definition of critical thinking to enable a specific authenticity
that equates to an individuals academic work. This essay will show that while the true meaning of
critical thinking doesn t change, adapting a personal definition is vital for success in higher education
and life skills. CRITICAL THINKING ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Each individual revisiting the definition of critical thinking draws from varied areas of importance in
order to validate in turn, their individual work. There are three important principles that underpin
critical thinking: scepticism, open mindedness and objectivity. Each principle is important in its own
right yet is required to work conjointly to achieve a logical, balanced argument. Scepticism is required
to authenticate relevant evidence and validate the source, it should never be assumed that a person of
authority has delivered the information in print.(Burton 2006:45) Open mindedness is remaining
impartial and being prepared to accept evidence which conflicts with personal beliefs while
considering all opinions.(Burton 2006 45 46) Objectivity is perceiving the argument while
disregarding all emotional responses. STRATEGIES FOR CRITICAL THINKING Students need to
have specific strategies when they undertake a critical thinking approach to reading information
sources and writing answers to essay questions. The main strategies are to determine the validity of
sources information, to identify fact and opinion, to uncover persuasive techniques of the writer, and
to detect bias or prejudice. One important critical thinking strategy to develop in order to maintain

through the 5 senses. The brain will remember anything that happened from 1 second to 60 seconds
using the sensory part of your memory. An example of sensory memory is: I got hit in the head with a

scratch pad for temporary recall. Short term memory holds small amounts of information. Anything
something that took place in front of your eyes for longer than 60 seconds, the short term memory

S Journey Cycle Of Joseph Campbell s The Hero With A...
In 1949, Joseph Campbell published a book which he named The Hero with a Thousand Faces . In the
book, Campbell debated that time and time again, he notices a regularly reoccurring pattern that could
be noticed within heroic fiction. Back when the eldest documented myths and legends; he referred to
this as the monomyth (Campbell borrowed the word monomyth from James Joyce s Finnegan s Wake
in 1939), suggesting a rotation of narrative structure that could be acknowledged in whole or parts in
stories, old and new. There are many phases of this bizarre, yet complex cycle, a journey in which the
hero confronts the hurdles he is put through. This is the Hero s Journey Cycle. Bilbo Baggins, a furry,

being no good cause for them to do it. These Conspirators make meager claims as to why Caesar must
die, but in the end these are only poor excuses that the conspirators are trying to use to justify doing a
terrible deed out envy and for self gain. Their murder of Julius Caesar was completely unwarranted,
and they deserve to be thought of as villains and murderers. One of main reasons why The
conspirators were so wrong to kill Caesar, is the fact that they kill him not based on who he was, but
in fear of who he may become. In Brutus famous soliloquy

How Elie Was Saved By American Soldiers
The covenant Elie and his father shared throughout this story was something special. Much like God
and Abrahams covenant, Elie and his father vowed to keep each other safe even when that meant
putting their lives on the line for each other. Elie did everything in his power to keep his father alive as
long as he could. Some of the prisoners viewed all this ongoing struggle as a sort of a test. Many kept
preaching that this was a test given by God that they had to go through in order to make it to heaven,
much like the tests God put Abraham through. Meaning that there will be specific tasks that will have
to endure that they might not seem fitting during life in order to ensure that they will go to heaven. In
the end, Elie was saved by American soldiers. He was extremely grateful for this because he might not
have made it much longer. There were specific times in the book where it was obvious to see that Elie
had wanted to give up and die on this journey. Elie showed us how strong he was mentally to be able
to endure what he did and still come out with faith in God. One of the greatest traits about this book is
the endless connections one can make through the experiences Elie went through.
Some may argue that Elie lost his faith in God throughout his journey. I believe that in the end why he
did not lose his faith was because he made it out alive. His dad was one of the reasons why Elie made
it. Elie felt like he owed it to his dad to make it home and try and find his sister

Jane Smiley A Thousand Acres
Jane Smiley s A Thousand Acres is a modern day representation of Shakespeare s King Lear. The text
tales a tragic story of a family of a troubling past, willingly watching each others lives decay as the
tragedy unfolds. In spite of it s similarities to King Lear , this work of literature is a work of its own.
The text constructs a clear distinction of American rural Space, this is through foreground economic
and social issues raised throughout the text of the perception that is driven by ones understanding of
self and the world they live in. A Thousand Acres displays a form of ambivalence towards a corrupted
society. The characters attempt to exploit one another through the secretes in which they hold.

Persuasive Essay On Life After Death
Death it happens to everyone, the question about American capital punishments is it humane to punish
criminals by the great and last ultimatum of death. The fact that, death has numerous questions
unanswered which leaves us uninformed. We have yet to discover life after death, individually we
cannot continue to disregard the opportunity and taking advantage and discarding it.As a country we
believe life is a game, however it s the opposite. We do not receive a second chance to achieve
exceptional or worse . The real questions are ¨Can it be our life s already scripted out, every second of
our life wrote down, and recorded ? How we know what actually is life ? Can we be in a long never
ending dream or maybe a comma ?(Lopez, Cnn)¨ These may seem like irrelevant questions, but it has
an exceptionally complicated answer which no one can answer with facts. It can be as fictitious as
statements stating that all of us dying someday. Rather society likes it or not we are aware of the
possibility of death happening to us at any moment . For a variety of people death brings an unknown
shiver against our bodies, but for small amount it brings a sense of calming and it is ridden with
strength and a feel of accomplishment .However no one knows when exactly the inevitable will
approach, but everyone knows it is inescapable. But what makes death seem further real to us and
those in denial of it is the lucid pictures of women, men, and children dying. The death penalty may
seem like a horrific torture, but did you know that it is available in 30 states? The killing of a criminal
is something that is permitted by the government, which is a horrendous thing. There are several
negativities with the death penalty;the fear of death force upon others, the ability that criminals are
likely to receive redemption for their heinous crime, it is important for Americans to realize the
prejudiced factors of the death penalty which should be abolished. Criminals who are on death trial
have a very little disadvantage while trying to prove their case. The truth is that rather we accept it or
not, taking life of someone is inhumane and ¨capital punishment is legalized murder .¨(Flanagan, UC
Berkeley) However this argument is weak

Pro Forma Balance Sheet Analysis
Pro Forma Balance Sheet
The Balance Sheet table below shows the Pro Forma Balance Sheet projections. As is illustrated, the
asset base will grow through accumulated cash balance and retained earnings will grow through
accumulated net profits. Based on these financial projections, the management of DELIGHT TYME
expects to build a business with a solid balance sheet for years to come.
The balance sheet shows the firm s financial position with respect to assets and liabilities at a specific
point in time. An example of a balance sheet is presented in Table..... The balance sheet provides three
types of information: assets, liabilities, and owners equity. Assets are what the company owns, and
they include current assets those that can be converted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The projection for cash indicates that each year within the three year projection will end with a
positive accumulated cash flow total.
With continued sales growth, cost controls, and gross margin maintenance, the financial projections
contained in this Business Plan should allow DELIGHT TYME Enterprise to maintain a positive cash
flow and cash balance for years to come. This indicates the DELIGHT TYME will have the ability to
sustain its operational cash requirements and provide DELIGHT TYME s ownership with dividend
distribution.
For clarification, dividend distribution in addition to their salaries can be taken by owners whenever
desired. However, even though loan repayment (if applicable) has been accounted for in the Projected
Cash Flow, dividend distribution had not been accounted for in the Projected Cash Flow. Therefore,
the ending cash balance for
Year 3 represents the total cash that would be available for divided distribution if all financial
projection is accurate.
Breakeven Point (BEP)
A company has achieved breakeven when its total sales or revenues equal its total expenses. No profit
has been made at the breakeven point, nor have any losses been incurred. This calculation is critical
for any business owner because the breakeven point is the lower limit of profit when determining

Argumentative Essay On The Book Night
Some might argue that there is no reason to retell such horrors that took place during the Holocaust to
children, or that the Holocaust did not take place, so what is the point in teaching it? The Holocaust
did in fact happen, and it happened not long ago. Some people can not see this as fathomable, but it is
possible that if we do not tell posterity of these horrors, they could very well happen again. The book
Night written by Elie Wiesel paints a dark and very real depiction of the Holocaust. It recounts the
time the author spent in Auschwitz and how the experience affected him. There are a number of
reasons why the Holocaust should be studied in schools, including how recently the Holocaust took
place, the possibility that something similar ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He has no right to deprive future generations of a past that belongs to our collective memory. To forget
would be not only dangerous but offensive; to forget the dead would be akin to killing them a second
time. (Night s introduction)
Eli Wiesel wrote this during the introduction of Night. He said this to emphasize the importance of
writing about the Holocaust for the sake of the victims. Elie Wiesel was freed at the end of the
Holocaust in 1945 (106) which was only 71 years ago. (page 106) The majority of the victims have
passed on, but there still remains some who can give a recount of what they experienced. This
opportunity will become unattainable soon, but there is still a chance to sit down with a victim and
hear their story. We owe it to the victims of the Holocaust to retell their accounts and make sure that
their stories aren t left behind in history. Also because this happened so recently it brings into
perspective how possible it is for it to happen again. There are people out there capable of committing
mass genocide, and even wiping out an entire group of people for whatever reason. It is essential that
posterity know this and prevent it from occurring. If the book Night is taught in school, it shows
students that atrocities like this should not be left on the wayside, and there is no reason for this to
ever happen

The Development History Of Gis
The Development History of GIS Geographical Information System (GIS) is a computerised
management based system that is used to collect, store and analyse spatial data. It allows users to
interpret data to follow trends, patterns and understand relationships analysis. The early beginnings of
GIS started when French geographer Charles Picquet noted in 1832, the deaths by cholera in Paris
using halftone colour gradient (De Châteauneuf, L. F. B, 1834, pg.1). John Snow is considered one of
the founders of modern epidemiology. In 1854, London suffered a series of cholera outbreaks and
noted their deaths by using points on a map. After plotting and studying the distribution of the
information, he noticed that the majority of the deaths were near 13 water pumps that were close to his
home and there was more of a concentration around one particular pump. He had the handle removed
and the outbreak of cholera soon diminished. He used Thiessen polygons to back up his theory and
found the majority of the deaths fell within the polygon nearest to the offending pump. (Mapping the
1854 London cholera outbreak, n.d., p.1). From about 1881, another development took place called
Photozincography and this allowed the maps to be divided into layers. A photo negative was taken and
was place onto a glass plate and then a carbon copy was taken from the negative. This was then placed
on treated paper, then floated in water and then laid down in a zinc plate covered with lithographic
ink. To

Joe Shlobotnik Washington Bugler Analysis
Anonymity Vs. The Law A reporter of the Washington Bugler, Joe Shlobotnik, wrote a story last year
accusing the local director of the United Way, Dr. Harvey Serene, of embezzling more than $400,000
in funds that were donated to the organization by members of the public. The story initiated after a call
was made from Serene s administrative assistant, and part time lover, Rose Mary Woods. Woods
agreed to communicate with Shlobotnik on given terms that her name was to be kept anonymous.
Shlobotnik agreed on these terms, and promised that her name would remain unidentified.
Disregarding the promise, Shlobotnik went ahead and informed the managing editor of Woods
identity, following his newspaper s policy. Woods provided Shlobotnik with 117 ... Show more content

that are involved in the case, see a subpoena as an easy and cheap way to get information that s

Bayor case. A subpoena was issued to blog owner Kathleen Seidel, who writes about autism issues. In
one of her posts, she wrote about the link exposure to mercury to the plaintiff s son s autism. Their

The Cover Makes Northanger Abbey by Jane Austin Essay
Don t judge a book by its cover, is a cliché that has been heard throughout society for years. However,
when many look at a novel it can either make or break the idea of reading it. The cover is able to
express to the reader the content of the book and some of the storyline, giving the reader a glimpse
into the books plotline. In Jane Austen s Northanger Abbey published by Marvel comics in 2012 this
is exactly the case. The main character, Catherine, is placed front and center looking forward towards
the reader with a large building behind her. As we will see the cover of Northanger Abbey give the
reader a sense of mystery revolving around Catherine.
Looking at the cover of Northanger Abbey, the main focal point is that of the main ... Show more

The background is a large building, presumably Northanger Abbey, which rises out of the fog and into
full detail. On this cover, there are only two things which are not blurred or fogged and that is
Catherine and Northanger Abbey. This clarity that is shared between the building and Catherine shifts
the mystery from Catherine to the mysterious Northanger Abbey. However, the placement and
thickness of the fog is greater surrounding the mind of Catherine implying that the mystery of
Northanger abbey a part of her imagination rather than a real mystery. The similarities in clarity are
able to represent multiple things. The main idea this clarity represents is the mindset of Catherine.
This mindset is extremely important as it shows that she is only able to see herself within the walls of
the Abbey and past that life is unclear; within these walls she is able to have a clear mind. Surrounding
the Abbey are other buildings which are also fogged, this lack of fog around Northanger Abbey is able
to create a mystery as to why this Abbey is so important to Catherine. As the building heightens the
fog slowly dissipates exemplifying that the mystery slowly disappears the further one gets involved
with the Abbey.
Contributing to the cover is that of the textual elements: the title Northanger Abbey and Mysteries of .
Together these two elements are able to tell the reader that there are mysteries surrounding the Abbey
as well as those who inhabit the Abbey all focusing

  • 2. George Mason Essay George Mason s greatest accomplishment was being the founding father of the national Bill of Rights. He was a planter from Virginia, had grown up rich on one of the nicest and best plantations in Alexandria, Fairfax County, Virginia. He was an important member of the town s church, had all the best tutors growing up, and had been raised to be a Virginian aristocrat (Miers 39). Mason married well and had a large family of nine kids. He raised them in Gunston Hall, a house which he had built himself (Miers 41). He was the type of guy who, if he believed strongly enough, did not abandon his beliefs. He strongly believed in the cause for the American Revolution (he had given his son a plantation named Lexington ), in citizen s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Slavery was another of his big issues. In this, he was slightly hypocritical. During the debates over this topic, George Mason gave a pretty lengthy speech, letting the other delegates know his view on the matter. He believed slavery was wrong. Mason believed it took jobs away from the poor, and it prevented the immigration of whites. He owned slaves on his plantation, but believed it to be a necessary evil (Solberg 280). The slave trade was a debatable topic for him. A few northern states prohibited slavery completely and Pennsylvania declared blacks free. Virginia and Maryland already prohibited the importation of slaves, and Mason thought it would be a waste of law and time if South Carolina and Georgia were free to import as many slaves as they needed or wanted. The western states were already saying they wanted slaves for themselves and their area. Mason felt that the western land would be filled with black slaves before anybody knew it (Solberg 280). The Electoral College was just another example of his belief in the people being involved in the government. He believed the people should be allowed to elect the President. He thought quot;all power is vested in, and consequently derived from, the people, quot; (Miers 72). George ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Male Bashing Analysis Annotation #3 This quote is important and stands out in the article for the reason that it brings biological explanations to woman marking. I myself as well as the author have never been inclined toward biological explanations in this case. It is, however, quite interesting to observe a Professor of linguistics share his claims of this subject. I am certainly sure that along with myself, many readers had not expected biology to come into this article. Page 392 Then why do you think she s male bashing? He answered, with disarming honesty Because she s a woman and she s saying things about men. • 5. Language Differences Between Language And Language While language deficiency makes some significant points that only specific codes are used by different economical groups, language difference theory raises the point of language variation and the problem is with the way that schools are interacting and valuing the differences among students. It must be noted language difference focus on the difference in a set of language skills held by students of different cultural backgrounds, not a deficient set of language skills as Bernstein had described. Labov () describes one language as not more acceptable or superior than the other, but both language variations appropriate and acceptable within their own contexts (Emmit p.61 2010). For example, English as a language has been developed and adapted into what David Crystal (2013), describes as Englishes, meaning that there are different variations of the English language to accommodate a variety of English speaking people. Crystal (2013), explains that language variation occurs when a group of people adjust and adapt their language and form a new variation to express or communicate certain ideas, values and beliefs based on their personal experiences, geographical location, and or to communicate with another foreign language. Language variations can occur due to several reasons such as gender, culture, and race, and that as individuals our language is influenced due to what is around us (Emmitt, 2010 p.54). It is constantly changing and adapting to its users, insisting that there is no correct or incorrect way of speaking English, just variations which are all equal in value. Language dialects occur relatively quickly and without too much thought, as people use language to communicate and by adapting their existing language to what suits them at the time (Crystal,2013 ). Teacher play a significate role in the path that their students take within their schooling years as much as when they finish school. It is important to remember that those early experiences with language and literacy in the classroom will build the foundation and confidence the students will require further in life (Cremin p. 2012). Immortan Joe An apocalyptic story set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and almost everyone is crazed fighting for the resources of life. Within this world exists two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order. There s Max (Tom Hardy), a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks a peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos. Accompanying him is Furiosa (Charlize Theron), a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland. It really has to do, in my perspective, with effective storytelling and practical effects and stunts that make the movie enjoyable. • 7. Comparison Of G Block And H Block Sat A Piece Of... Between G Block and H Block sat a piece of corrugated iron tubing. Soggy leaves and bark were smeared along the outside of it. Inside was dry earth and cold silver. That was where we went, Del and I. I thought it looked like the poor man s version of a piece of playground equipment. From a playground from not too far away, on the other side of the river bank away, closer to the worst kind of civilisation. A human hamster wheel that was what it was called. When a person lies inside and there s light at either ends of the tunnel and you have to peddle fast with your hands and feet, all the way round in a cylindrical loop. Not so easy to stop. Not suitable for children under four that s what the sign would say, even when it was smeared with a streak of blue from a can of spray paint. The four year olds would go in and fall out and break an arm over the course of an afternoon play session. A council inspector in a striped high visibility vest would arrive to look over the equipment. Then they would walk past us and look up at the abandoned buildings of Briar Hills High School and shake their head at the eyesore. They would probably write some notes too. One of us would go outside just to burst a tyre on their car. The council always parked in the same place marked with a faded yellow line. It was right in front of the barrier which looked like a brittle and old fence to them but to us it meant we could hide and forget. When they parked near the barrier it was too close. ... • 11. Analysis Of Do The Right Thing There are many films in this world that tackle the topic of race. It is an unfortunate truth that leads to many options when choosing a film to show to the students of Coe College. With a large majority of the students at Coe being white, choosing a film that addresses the themes of racism in the 20th century is something that can be a sensitive subject. It is the reason that a film that addresses tension among different race on a block in Bed Sty is the most appropriate for the audience at Coe College. The film Do The Right Thing, directed by Spike Lee, challenges the characters in the film, along with the audience viewing the film to form opinions on sensitive subjects and to do the right thing in a difficult situation.Spike Lee uses the film, Do The Right Thing, to address racial tension in the 20th century through his use of color, camera framing and narrative. One of the most striking scenes begins in the first forty minutes of the film. The scene starts off with the music becoming slow and haunting, a difference from the high beat music that was playing before, while a police car slowly drives down the street in the neighborhood of mostly people of color. The camera then cuts to the three black men who sit on the corner, Sweet Dick Willie, Coconut Sid, and ML. The camera pans across the three faces, all showing critical glares at the police car. The policeman in the passenger seat is then shown, displaying a similar glare to the black men. The tension can be felt in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It collapsed on November 7, 1940 just months after its opening on July 1, 1940. It was designed by Leon Moisseiff and at its time it was the third largest suspension bridge in the world with a center span of over half a mile long. The bridge was very narrow and sleek giving it a look of grace, but this design made it very flexible in the wind. The basic design of the Tacoma Narrows Bridge itself was a suspension bridge with a center span of 2800 feet and two side spans of one 1100 feet (Farquharson, 1950, p. 17). Its two lane, reinforced concrete roadway was twenty six feet wide with two 5 foot, 9 inch sidewalks (Farquharson, 1950, p. 19). Overall the superstructure was 5939 feet, including the suspension structures, approach spans and anchorages (Farquharson, 1950, p. 19). • 16. Mri Of The Knee Ligament Tear MRI of the knee Anterior Cruciate Ligament Tear Introduction The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) is an important structure in maintaining the normal biomechanics of the knee and is the most commonly injured knee ligament. ACL tears may be partial or complete. A partial tear can involve both or only a single bundle to varying degree, can range from a minor tear involving just a few fibers to a high grade near complete tear involving almost all of the ACL fibers. Anatomy and physiology The ACL originates from the medial and anterior aspect of the tibial plateau and runs superiorly, laterally, and posteriorly toward its insertion on the lateral femoral condyle. Together with the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), the ACL guides the instantaneous center of rotation of the knee, therefore controlling joint kinematics. To a lesser degree, the ACL checks extension and hyperextension. The ACL is not as strong as the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL), and it is less strong at its femoral origin than at its tibial insertion. Muscles surrounding the knee joint contribute to knee stabilization during lower extremity movements. Mechanism of injury Mechanisms of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury are numerous. These injuries plague both athletes and non athletes. ACL injury is most prevalent (1 in 1,750 persons) in patients 15 45 years of age. It is more common in this age group in part because of their more active lifestyle as well as higher participation in sports. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Back when the eldest documented myths and legends; he referred to this as the monomyth (Campbell borrowed the word monomyth from James Joyce s Finnegan s Wake in 1939), suggesting a rotation of narrative structure that could be acknowledged in whole or parts in stories, old and new. There are many phases of this bizarre, yet complex cycle, a journey in which the hero confronts the hurdles he is put through. This is the Hero s Journey Cycle. Bilbo Baggins, a furry, non adventurous hobbit is somehow chosen to go on an adventure with a wizard named Gandalf, 13 dwarves, and much more whom he didn t even know existed. In the play, Caesar is unjustly killed by a group of conspirators, despite there being no good cause for them to do it. These Conspirators make meager claims as to why Caesar must die, but in the end these are only poor excuses that the conspirators are trying to use to justify doing a terrible deed out envy and for self gain. Their murder of Julius Caesar was completely unwarranted, and they deserve to be thought of as villains and murderers. One of main reasons why The conspirators were so wrong to kill Caesar, is the fact that they kill him not based on who he was, but in fear of who he may become. In Brutus famous soliloquy ... • 24. How Elie Was Saved By American Soldiers The covenant Elie and his father shared throughout this story was something special. Much like God and Abrahams covenant, Elie and his father vowed to keep each other safe even when that meant putting their lives on the line for each other. Elie did everything in his power to keep his father alive as long as he could. Some of the prisoners viewed all this ongoing struggle as a sort of a test. Many kept preaching that this was a test given by God that they had to go through in order to make it to heaven, much like the tests God put Abraham through. Meaning that there will be specific tasks that will have to endure that they might not seem fitting during life in order to ensure that they will go to heaven. In the end, Elie was saved by American soldiers. He was extremely grateful for this because he might not have made it much longer. There were specific times in the book where it was obvious to see that Elie had wanted to give up and die on this journey. Elie showed us how strong he was mentally to be able to endure what he did and still come out with faith in God. One of the greatest traits about this book is the endless connections one can make through the experiences Elie went through. Some may argue that Elie lost his faith in God throughout his journey. I believe that in the end why he did not lose his faith was because he made it out alive. His dad was one of the reasons why Elie made it. Elie felt like he owed it to his dad to make it home and try and find his sister ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The fact that, death has numerous questions unanswered which leaves us uninformed. We have yet to discover life after death, individually we cannot continue to disregard the opportunity and taking advantage and discarding it.As a country we believe life is a game, however it s the opposite. We do not receive a second chance to achieve exceptional or worse . The real questions are ¨Can it be our life s already scripted out, every second of our life wrote down, and recorded ? How we know what actually is life ? Can we be in a long never ending dream or maybe a comma ?(Lopez, Cnn)¨ These may seem like irrelevant questions, but it has an exceptionally complicated answer which no one can answer with facts. It can be as fictitious as statements stating that all of us dying someday. Rather society likes it or not we are aware of the possibility of death happening to us at any moment . For a variety of people death brings an unknown shiver against our bodies, but for small amount it brings a sense of calming and it is ridden with strength and a feel of accomplishment .However no one knows when exactly the inevitable will approach, but everyone knows it is inescapable. But what makes death seem further real to us and those in denial of it is the lucid pictures of women, men, and children dying. The death penalty may seem like a horrific torture, but did you know that it is available in 30 states? The killing of a criminal is something that is permitted by the government, which is a horrendous thing. There are several negativities with the death penalty;the fear of death force upon others, the ability that criminals are likely to receive redemption for their heinous crime, it is important for Americans to realize the prejudiced factors of the death penalty which should be abolished. Criminals who are on death trial have a very little disadvantage while trying to prove their case. The truth is that rather we accept it or not, taking life of someone is inhumane and ¨capital punishment is legalized murder .¨(Flanagan, UC Berkeley) However this argument is weak ... Argumentative Essay On The Book Night Some might argue that there is no reason to retell such horrors that took place during the Holocaust to children, or that the Holocaust did not take place, so what is the point in teaching it? The Holocaust did in fact happen, and it happened not long ago. Some people can not see this as fathomable, but it is possible that if we do not tell posterity of these horrors, they could very well happen again. The book Night written by Elie Wiesel paints a dark and very real depiction of the Holocaust. It recounts the time the author spent in Auschwitz and how the experience affected him. To forget would be not only dangerous but offensive; to forget the dead would be akin to killing them a second time. (Night s introduction) Eli Wiesel wrote this during the introduction of Night. He said this to emphasize the importance of writing about the Holocaust for the sake of the victims. Elie Wiesel was freed at the end of the Holocaust in 1945 (106) which was only 71 years ago. (page 106) The majority of the victims have passed on, but there still remains some who can give a recount of what they experienced. This opportunity will become unattainable soon, but there is still a chance to sit down with a victim and hear their story. We owe it to the victims of the Holocaust to retell their accounts and make sure that their stories aren t left behind in history. Also because this happened so recently it brings into perspective how possible it is for it to happen again. There are people out there capable of committing mass genocide, and even wiping out an entire group of people for whatever reason. The Development History Of Gis The Development History of GIS Geographical Information System (GIS) is a computerised management based system that is used to collect, store and analyse spatial data. It allows users to interpret data to follow trends, patterns and understand relationships analysis. The early beginnings of GIS started when French geographer Charles Picquet noted in 1832, the deaths by cholera in Paris using halftone colour gradient (De Châteauneuf, L. F. B, 1834, pg.1). John Snow is considered one of the founders of modern epidemiology. In 1854, London suffered a series of cholera outbreaks and noted their deaths by using points on a map. After plotting and studying the distribution of the information, he noticed that the majority of the deaths were near 13 water pumps that were close to his home and there was more of a concentration around one particular pump. He had the handle removed and the outbreak of cholera soon diminished. He used Thiessen polygons to back up his theory and found the majority of the deaths fell within the polygon nearest to the offending pump. (Mapping the 1854 London cholera outbreak, n.d., p.1). From about 1881, another development took place called Photozincography and this allowed the maps to be divided into layers. A photo negative was taken and was place onto a glass plate and then a carbon copy was taken from the negative. This was then placed on treated paper, then floated in water and then laid down in a zinc plate covered with lithographic ink. To ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, the placement and thickness of the fog is greater surrounding the mind of Catherine implying that the mystery of Northanger abbey a part of her imagination rather than a real mystery. The similarities in clarity are able to represent multiple things. The main idea this clarity represents is the mindset of Catherine.
