The Relationship Between Architecture And The Human Body
The Relationship between Architecture and the Human Body
Introduction
The human body is the ultimate tool for discovering the environment. Human anatomy is
considered to be nature s peak of perfection and certain features serve as inspiration for many
architects. To study the relationship between the human body and architecture, one must not be
limited to human body parts resemblance to architectural works but to a larger extent consider
human emotions, sensory nerves, the mind and general human psychology. In essence everything
that makes us human. In its simplest definition Architecture can be described as an art or practice
of designing buildings. It is practiced in a way that accomplishes both practical and communicative
or expressive requirements. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Sense of place means a metal appreciation of environment and the creation of feeling among the
viewers in relation to the environment. A place unlike space is mixed with human values and
principles. Phenomenology of sense of place in Architecture explores ontological character of
humans and recognition that setting is an integral ontological structure essential for human
psychological existence. The long term relationship between people and places establishes
meanings and identities with the physical environment hence creating a sense of place. Before a
structure can be generated, the designer must know the place on an intimate and deep level based
on the existing patterns, forces and energies of a site. This is done through exploration and
analysis using systems of mapping and documentation. The patterns and webs develop a unique
portrait of the site. The dynamics of the place begin to reveal themselves as tangible data that is
then used as the generative information of the architecture. To design an architecture is to engage
in the act of placement and the success of such a design is determined by how effective it

Organizational Behavior And Its Effect On Work Performance...
1.INTRODUCTION In a period when commerce is constantly changing at a growing pace, the
need for firms to adapt to or even influence this evolution is at an all time high. That is, businesses
must learn to engage in a continuous renewal of themselves while maintaining their structural
integrity (Anderson, 1990 cited in Hunter, 2002). This is because people s sense of identity has
developed which, consequently, has had an effect on work performance. Further, managing
individuals with different identities is made more complex by the increase in diversity or the
demand for it in organizations due to globalization and rising social awareness. It is, therefore,
becoming increasingly important for corporate leaders to have a good grasp of organizational
behavior and use it to their company s advantage. 2.STRUCTURE 2.1.Restructuring at CondГ©
Nast Within any organization, the formal division, grouping and coordination of job tasks,
otherwise known as its structure, must complement its goals and objectives to move forward
effectively (Robbins and Judge, 2013; Mullins, 2016). For instance, publishing company CondГ©
Nast, well known for its brands such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, Glamour, Brides, Self, GQ, The New
Yorker, Teen Vogue etc. (CondГ© Nast, n.d.a), is currently undergoing a restructuring phase. As
society advances towards a more digital age, the publishing industry must become familiar with the
utilization of electronic media to complement their printed ones (Tarkiainen et al,

Latin American Identity Essay
The contemporary application of the term Hispanic is a prime example of imperial erasure and re
identification of indigenous peoples to the Americas with their colonizers. Those referred to as
Hispanic are designated as tied to Spain or the Spanish language, but may be of any race, ethnicity,
or culture; furthermore, this term is often incorrectly used interchangeably with more specific terms
like Latinx that denote origins in the region of Latin America. Many people of mixed native and
European blood have no connection to their ancestry to the former. Before the indigenous people of
the Americaswere stripped of their language and culture, they were unique civilizations and
empires like the Nahua people whose point of view is recorded in... Show more content on

Their practice of human sacrifice was brutal at the very least, but served a purpose in the grand
scheme of their hegemony. They dominated neighboring nations and sacrificed prisoners of
war, believing that the source of all life, the sun, would die unless it were fed with human blood
(xxxviii xxxix). A strong component of the Nahua identity was this status as a military power in
present day central Mexico, reinforced by an education system in which fathers vowed to send
their sons to school to be taught the fundamentals of religion and ethics, and were also trained in
the arts of war (xlv). This identity was challenged when the Spaniards arrived with alien
technology such as metal armor, cannons, and arquebuses. The Aztec Empire exhibited a class
system consisting of land owning nobles, the middle class divided into familial clans, a class of
slaves and indentured servants, and a body of wise men who served as religious scholars (xlii).
The government was headed by a king of noble blood and based in the elaborate capital of
Tenochtitlan. The Nahua identity in regards to lifestyle was tied to their transition from bands of
nobles into an urban

Different approaches will work for different children in your family, and the rules will change as
your children grow.
Understanding why children misbehave
All children test the limits you set and try to cross boundaries some of the time.
This is an inevitable part of growing up, learning and becoming an independent person. Younger
children particularly may test constantly. This is not them being naughty or disobedient it is the
only way they can learn when you mean what you say and what the limits to their behaviour are.
Attention seeking
Children will do just about anything to get the attention they crave from their parents.
Revenge
Trying to get back at someone they feel has treated them badly a sibling, parent or friend. Children
may not understand your reasons for insisting on a rule or limit it helps to recognise their feelings
of anger.
Feeling sad
A child of any age may show that they are feeling sad or anxious by behaving badly and may need
more sympathy and affection. Punishing them will only make matters worse.
Feeling powerless
If a child feels upset at not having control, they may often hit out or get mad at an older sibling or
friend.

Tomboy Research Paper
It s abundantly clear that there are distinct physical differences among the sexes, however women
and men have been taught and thrown into a structural system that has brainwashed us into
believing that based on what sexual organ you so happened to be born with you must follow the
guidelines throughout life to fulfill that particular gender. Growing up as a femalein society you are
taught that barbies, baby dolls, Polly pockets, playing dress up, and liking the color pink is
essential to being a proper girl and that taking a fancy to hot wheels, action figures, and Pokemon
cards is considered wrong and you automatically get labeled a tomboy. Although, the word tomboy

Everywhere we go, everything we buy, everything we see is gender based, from shaving cream,
children s toys at fast food restaurants, clothes, shampoos, and much much more. Unfortunately,
and realistically these stereotypes and roles will never disappear completely, due to the fact that
there will always be the presence of people who choose to reject the modern day upbringing,
close minded people are the only thing holding our generation back from blossoming into a
world of equality. With that said, take this as an eye opener to educate yourself on issues
involving PEOPLE, take interests in social problems involving PEOPLE, and take a genuine
concern towards the well beings of our PEOPLE. Once we open our hearts and minds we will
soon gravitate towards a less structured and uncomfortable environment. Nothing is set in stone, if
we break through these set rules, together we can demolish stereotypes and compose a superior,

In This Paper, I Plan To Argue The Ideas By Edward Conard,
In this paper, I plan to argue the ideas by Edward Conard, in his argument that we don t need more
humanities major in our academic system. In specific, this paper will explore the writer s claims,
the gaps in his arguments and counter arguments in this topic. My argument is important because I
will challenge Conard s article with the self fashioning s article by Keohane.
In Conard s article, he demonstrates to answer the question whether or not we need more humanities
. His answer is that we should be focus on technology and innovation to have a better living
standards. (41) His main argument is that innovation and technology are the key to driver of the
American economy and there is a need for more talents and expertise in this area. ... Show more

(43) Schools give one the time and materials to achieve all what one desire in life. (43) In the
same way, I would challenge the students to leverage their energy and time to become the best they
can be in their life. (43)
This paper also supports the self fashioning article by Keohane. Self fashioning builds the
character, personality, and focus on the student. A self fashioned student is more likely to
succeed in life in whichever line of specialization he chooses. Likewise, I disagree with Conard
on the point that innovation and technology are more likely to bring success to the student. From
experience, people who know their personality and character are able to use in their skills, time
and education to be the best in whichever field, whether in technology and innovation or
humanities. In my view, success and failure are not a factor of chosen line of specialization rather,
it is a factor of hard work and determination to create a change. Self fashioning is more
fundamental and basic education, like authority, and intelligence and it is determined by how
people deal with small and basic things in life. Things like cleaning, washing, and taking care of
oneself are more important that education when it comes to self fashioning.
In my life, the most common basic things derive from self fashioning. They include taking care of

Supreme Court just ruled that school segregation is unconstitutional. So you enroll in a previously
white only school. As you enter on your first day of school, there are people outside that school
yelling and screaming at you. There are armed men outside your schoolthat will not let you enter.
You eventually get let in through a side door. The next thing that you know you are in the school

This field first became more known in the late nineteenth century. It was able to develop so much
because of the commercialization of the electric telegraph and the electrical power supply.
Electrical engineers mostly deal with power, optoelectronics, digital electronics, analog electronics,
computer science, artificial intelligence, control systems, electronics, signal processing and
telecommunications. An electrical engineer is able to create, manipulate, transmit and receive
data by electronic means such as 1 s and 0 s. What electrical engineers do is deal with problems
associated with large scale electrical systems such as power, transmission, and motor control.
Electrical engineers deal with electrical components that can span from the earth all the way to
intergalactic space. One life changing invention is that of the transistors. The transistor is small
semiconductor that allows the flow of current to a source, it is able to stop or it amplify it
depending on the type used. This is only one of the many remarkable inventions electrical engineers

My Sister s Keeper By Jodi Picoult
My Sister s Keeper by Jodi Picoult beautifully illustrates many different legal, ethical, and moral
dilemmas that can accompany a possible terminal illness diagnosis within a family especially that
of a young family. Ultimately the book causes you to re examine any stance you may have had
between that of what is legally and ethically right and what is morally right.
Brian and Sara Fitzgerald have two small children who seem healthy and happy. Suddenly their
daughter Kate falls sick, and after many tests the doctors discover that she has acute promyelocytic
leukemia, a rare and often fatal form of cancer; Kate is only three years old. When none of the
family members are a match to be able to donate bone marrow a doctor suggest that they could
conceive a genetically designed baby who would be a perfect match for Kate. In today s society
there are designer babies who have hair or eyes handpicked for them by their parents for a
specific desired look. It seems there is no real harm in this, but conceiving a child to be a perfect
match for the living sibling may cross some lines. The new child in question would be basically
a spare, a savor sibling to the older child, used for the harvesting of whatever the other may need
to stay alive. The doctor should never have even suggested this seeing as it infringes on basic
human rights of a child who for many years will have no choice or control what will happen to
their body. And in doing this there is no thought of the welfare and

American Aircraft Soviet Union Equipment
Introduction While escorting three B 52s on April 2, 1972 United States Air Force EB 66
navigator Lt. Col. Iceal Gene Hambleton (call sign Bat 21) and crew were shot down by a volley
of surface to air missiles (SAM). By this time in the war, the North Vietnamese had become
proficient at downing American aircraft using Soviet Union equipment. As the only survivor of the
EB 66 crew, Hambleton parachuted to relative safety behind North Vietnamese lines. Due to his
rank and prior held positions, Hambleton had Top Secret information on Strategic Air Command
operations and was an expert in surface to air missile countermeasures. Having this information
made Hambleton a high value target for the North Vietnamese. Due to the large scale American
operation to retrieve just one pilot, the North Vietnamese suspected whatever was in the jungle
behind their lines must be of high value and tried just as hard to prevent the American s from
retrieving what was theirs. Hambleton s rescue became what would be the largest, longest, and
most complex search and rescue operation during the VietnamWar. 1

decided that there was a need for a system that would better implement and document behavioral
interventions for students who have a variety of behavioral disorders (BD). In the 1990 s it was
added to the reauthorized Individuals with Disabilities Act. Over time it was decided that this
system could also be beneficial for a school wide plan, instead of just students with behavioral

For younger students, making a classroom visual may be helpful. Second, you want to teach the
students the classroom procedures and cues to eliminate issues during any kind of transition.
Thinking about the placement of furniture will be helpful too. You want to be sure that there are
not areas that will get to congested. Third is to implement positive praise and reinforcement. It is
important to be specific with praise, so that the student will know what they are doing well. Adding
in a reward system can also be very motivating. The fourth practice is about the teacher. Active
supervision is important. Moving around the room will give you different views of the room and let
all of the students know that you are paying attention. This may also make it easier for students to
ask questions. They will feel that it is easier to gain your attention if your floating around the room,
rather then standing in the same spot the whole time. The fifth practice talks about the importance
of consistent and fair consequences. Teachers need to first know when to react. Ignoring minor
behaviors that are attention seeking is important. Also, make sure that you are using constructive
redirection, so the student will know where they went wrong. The final practice is to keep the
student engaged. Give them opportunities to respond and be a part of the lessons

Theme Of Self Image In 12 Angry Men
Self image is a largely talked about issue. From negative to positive outlooks, it can be seen in
most magazines, heard on most talk shows, and is mentioned in almost every article on the
internet. The 1957 MGM film Twelve Angry Men compels the characters in the film and the
audiences to view their own self image when making a decision on the guilt of an eighteen year
old boy who is accused of killing his father. By using logic, reflection, and attitude, the movie
shows each of the characters to review their views and beliefs and how they see themselves and
others. During the film, logic was required on everyone s part. They were deciding on an eighteen
year old kid s life! It was not a decision to be made quickly. Mr. Davis realizes this and is the only
one to vote not guilty when taking the first vote (Lumet). Logic came into play because Mr.
Davis thought logically about all of the evidence presented and because of this he felt that there
was a reasonable doubt and could therefore, not sentence the young man. Throughout the rest of
the film, we see more of the men thinking logically, for example, when Juror Nine realizes that
the woman who claims she witnessed the murder, wore glasses and would not have been able to
clearly see the boy if she claimed to be laying in bed trying to fall asleep. Another example is
when juror number five, who grew up in the same area of town that the defense did, shows the

neighborhood. When things went wrong, all Willie could do was cry and be sad because he
really had no one to turn to. Later in the year, Willie became homecoming king which
symbolized to him that he did not let the past reflect the way he would end up. Being named
homecoming king was a powerful symbol to him that his past had not defined him nor deterred
him from success, (244). He finished high school and later went to Morehouse College in
Atlanta, Georgia for business. Willie did not let what his mother did or the lack of authority
affect his success in going to college and quitting the cycle of his parents. From the beatings her

Boxer s Role In Animal Farm

Napoleon feel threatened by him? Boxer takes on the role of one of the strongest animals, both
physically and socially on the farm, which can be seen as a threat.
Boxer is a very large, and tenacious horse, he was muscular and possessed a lot of strength, often
pulling the load of the rest of the animal s work on the farm. He was an extremely valuable

It was feared by Napoleon, that Boxer had the capability to overthrow him if he wished to. Given
that Boxer was admired and respected by all, he could potentially gather all the animals and initiate

himself, which, at first, may be seen as a reason to not be regarded as a threat. However, if
Boxer contains a concept that can be dangerous towards Napoleon, that could by any chance,
pass on negative thoughts and manifest an uprising. At one point, Boxer does start up his own
argument, on how Snowball is or is not a traitor of Animal Farm. By saying I do not believe that
Snowball was a traitor at the beginning, he said finally. What he has done since is different. But
I believe that at the Battle of the Cowshed he was a good comrade. (Orwell,55) in reference to
Squealer trying to convince the animals that Snowball has been a part of a scheme. After Boxer s
dispute, Napoleon attempted to slaughter him with his dogs, but Boxer saw them coming and put
out his great hoof, caught a dog in mid air and pinned him to the ground. The dog shrieked for
mercy and the other two fled with their tails between their legs. (Orwell,56) indicates how

Native American Colonialism
From the time during North American colonialism to the modern era, American Indians have
responded to and countered U.S. policies, philosophies, and agreements in hopes of sustaining and
preserving their sovereignty and relationships to the land. As a result, the U.S. government
employed many different approaches in dealing with American Indians in hopes of assimilation and
diminishment of Native American culture from the mid 19th century to early 20th century.
Consequently, as the U.S. government policies of assimilation directed towards American Indians
evolved from 1850 to 1930, so did the Indian response. Native American responses to early
aggressive U.S. polices, as in the violations of the Treaty of Fort Laramie and the Confederate

their relationship to land. As U.S. detribalization policies later shifted to a more diplomatic
approach for improved westernized assimilation, like the Dawes Allotment Act and use of boarding

preservation and survival of their native identities and culture. The intrinsic relationships that
American Indians had to their lands was a non negotiable doctrine for many tribes. Violating these

The Sun Was The Main One Essay
1. Emily s said that heat is hot air from the sun that can make us warm, and can be used which is
correct. However, she does not know how heat is formed or its movement abilities.
2. Emily had no understanding of the term friction . She may possibly identify that hands rubbing
together cause them to warm up, but she has no prior knowledge to give a friction topic response.
3. The Science concept that the sun is an important natural energy source where heat comes from
was identified by Emily. As suggested her idea was that the sun was the main one .
4. It can be said that Emily knows that the season of summer represents heat and hotness, as she
used the words the asphalt is really hot and heats up . A misconception is again the lack of theory
as to why the asphalt gets really hot.
5. Emily demonstrated sound knowledge of what evaporation is, regarding the picture of the water
cycle. A response using scientific terminology in relation to evaporation involving the water cycle
process was not given at this stage.
6. The student provided me with many examples if how heat is used in everyday life. Emily s
views were of excellent standard and more importantly accurate. No misconception of how heat is
beneficial and can be used in everyday life.
7. Again for a year 6 student, Emily possessed extensive ideas about the world around her, by
mentioning nature such as lava and stars; and hand made objects like a furnace and a light

The Dangers Of Censorship In The Media And The Internet
Censorship is the suppression or prohibition of any parts of books, films, news, etc. that are
considered obscene, politically unacceptable, or a threat to security. There are good reasons why
censorship is used, such as some information might have to be censored for the content it might
display and cause a disturbance. Countries try not abuse the fact they are allowed to do this
because they are the ones who create the rules. However, China is abusing this fact and has been
doing it to the point people are fearing what they can post or use on the internet. This issue was
brought up because it has many different types of medians that express why it is important for the
safety of free speech. Firstly, the discussion will start off with why is censorshipgood and bad.
Secondly, it converses the three main types of medians that display this problem are featured
articles, videos, and letters. Censorship is great when it is used properly but can go too far when in
the wrong hands.
Censorship
When the topic of censorship comes up, some individuals will complain that it was a mistake to
ever use a tactic to cover up information. But can this world handle most of what is going on behind
the scenes of the government. We all want to know everything that is going on in the world, but
that could come at a price. We would find out information that could cause countries to fight against
their own governments or start wars with other countries. While it is true that censorship to some

Hypothermia And Hyperthermia
Hypothermia and hyperthermia are very different disorders. The definition of hypothermia is the
condition of having an abnormally low body temperature, typically one that is dangerously low. The
definition of hyperthermia is the condition of having a body temperature greatly above normal.
Extreme temperatures and exposure to different surroundings causes both. Hypothermia is caused
by cold temperatures, diabetes, and thyroid conditions. A few other causes are severe trauma drugs
and some medications. Not only does alcohol cause hypothermia, it can also cause hyperthermia.
Not enough water consumption, lack of air, and environmental heat conditions all contribute to
causing hyperthermia. People who are outdoors get these disorders. The elderly, infants, and
children without heat, clothing, or food are at a higher risk of getting hypothermia. The mentally ill
are also at a great risk. Young children with seizure have a high chance of suffering from

Companies are Tricking People Through Marketing...
Companies use advertisements as a mirror for their products. They use advertisements to
encourage, persuade, or manipulate their audience. The most important factor for the company
is how the advertisements will appeal to the customers. Companies use psychologists to help
them gauge social trends. Time and culture are very important as well companies need to know
what people like, value, or need the most at a certain time. They consider all of these factors
when promoting their products, yet they do not consider the quality of said products.
Companies have been successful with marketing advertisement because people usually pay too
much attention to the advertisements to pick what works best for them, while trying to buy
something. The first and second advertisements are about how the corporations use Disney
characters and happy kids on food or toys products. Many food and toys, especially geared for
children, usually have a kind of contest that goes along with it. If you buy this , you have a
chance to win this which makes kids want it more. Usually a PlayStation or Xbox is the big
prize offered. Many things geared towards the children have a big impact on the child who then
makes it a big impact on the parent. Most of the times companies use happy or cute kids to
promote yogurt, cereal and toys advertisements, because people like cute kids. Also all children are
looking for that happinessand joy but when they buy it they do not find what they were looking for.

Analyzing Erikson s Psychosocial Theories
Erik Erikson s Psychosocial Theory places everyone into stages, from the days where they still

Radical Congressional Plan For Reconstruction Essay
Reconstruction in America was a time designated towards rebuilding the South both physically
and socially as well as integrating this revolutionized area back into the Union after the
devastating Civil War. Through the addition of Constitutional Amendments as well as bills such
as the Civil Rights Act of 1866, the Radical Congressional Plan was able to fuse another race, that
of the southern blacks, into a previously divided nation. Furthermore, the plan of the Radicals
allowed Federal power to encourage a drastic change both economically and socially in the Deep
South, however, not without some drawbacks as seen from the KKK and the repression of

Radicals plan to reinvigorate the South was the passing of the Fifteenth Amendment which not only
guaranteed black suffrage but also ensured that any states who were still dismal would not be
capable of amending their state constitutions to take away the ballot from blacks. Although this was
rash in the eyes of the entering states, this allowed for the equality of races and created greater

Human Science And Natural Science
Disagreement may aid the pursuit of knowledge in the natural and human sciences because
disagreement leads to new discoveries. Disagreement is about gathering reliable knowledge as
well as using this newfound knowledge, and occurs when a group fails to reach a consensus over
the logic of an argument. Knowledge is composed of facts, information, and skills acquired by a
person through experience or education. Two areas of knowledge that are impacted by
disagreement are human scienceand natural science. Human science is the study of human
behavior and how humans gather information. Natural science is a branch of science that deals
with the physical world. In order for a disagreement to occur, one must be familiar with the
subject and have his or her own prediction that is different from the norm. Therefore, to advance
knowledge in the areas of human and natural science, people must disagree. The roles of logic,
reason, and emotion will be investigated to see how they are used to help gain new knowledge in
both human and natural science. Many knowledge claims in human and natural science are based
on theories. Jean Lamarck proposed the theory of evolutionin 1801. The theory of evolution
proposed by Lamarck was based on the idea that organisms had to change their behavior to
survive. For instance, if a giraffe stretched it neck for a long period of time to reach the leaves as
the top of the tree, then a nervous fluid would flow in the neck and make it longer. Thus, its

1 Corinthian
The essential topic of the story is recommended by the undeniable incongruity of the title, for
Marian s visit isn t one of genuine philanthropy, but instead a formal, regulated signal. It
absolutely does not speak to the scriptural thought of philanthropy in 1 Corinthians, which is
translated in the Revised Standard Version of the Bible as adoration, or thoughtful distinguishing
proof of one individual with another. From the earliest starting point of the story, Marian does
not think about the two old ladies as individuals like herself. She not exclusively knows about the
weirdness of the old women, yet she likewise has turned into an outsider to herself. Tossed out of
her natural world, where she has a place, she is in a bizarre dreamworld, where she seriously feels
her distinction from the old women and along these lines her own particular partition and
segregation. This emblematic feeling of distance clarifies the odd, illusory impact of the nursing

Flannery O Connor s works are nothing short of extraordinary. They frequently step into the realm

effect through a number of means, which consist primarily of Christian symbolism, character foils,
and literary irony. Combined, they create rich, intense environments in which radical events push

The first external environment that Blockbuster faces are their competitors such Netflix, Red
box, and Movie Gallery. These competitors contribute to the overall industry by their ability to
deliver the same goods and services as Blockbuster. Blockbusters competitors may have better
ideas that will attract new consumers, for example Blockbusters late fees could perhaps
influence customers to try out Netflix products over Blockbuster. With Netflix, there are no late
fees, and you can keep a movie for as long as you like. The prices of Blockbusters movies can
also have an effect, they charge over $5 for five day rental where you can go to a Red box and
pay only $1.07 per night. The second external issue could be the use of the internet, this could
really bring down sales of Blockbuster, since so many people are doing their shopping from
home this lessens the chance that people will be willing to go to the movie store and rent when
they can just order Netflix right from home. Although Blockbuster does offer online rentals they
still are more expensive than their competitors. The third issue that could affect Blockbusters
business is consumer spending since more and more people are out of jobs there are less people
out their spending their money on entertainment. This could really affect the company short term
because if there is no one to rent videos how are they able to afford keeping their business open let

KP Video 6: Research Aim, Purpose and Hypotheses
This web based training is presented by Gretchen J. Summer RN, PhD. It is the sixth video in a
series of twenty that discuss nursing research. Here, she addresses the significance of research aim,
purpose, and hypotheses, which are crucial components in conducting research. Understanding
these concepts can help readers better understand research literature in order to make it applicable
to practice. It can also be useful in helping conduct future nursing research.
A research topic is defined as a concept or broad issue that is important. For example, in nursing
research a topic can be acute or chronic pain management, coping with illness, or health promotion.
Within each research topic, there is a potential for numerous research problems that in return can
result is different research studies. Usually, research problems guide the type of research
methodology the study will have. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Aims answer the research question or hypothesis but often encompass broader targets such as
constructing recommendations for changes to nursing practice based on the results of a study. It is
not uncommon for research aims/objectives to not be expressed in research reports. More
commonly, they are found in written research proposals that detail plans for a research study before
the research begins.
A research purpose can be seen as a formal purpose statement in most research studies. This
statement can usually be captured in one to two sentences is can be interpreted as the essence of
the study. The purpose statement establishes the general direction of the research and provides a
summary of its overall purpose. The words purpose or goal typically appear in the purpose

Applying the heritage assessment can be useful with integration into the health care system. First
impressions go along with the proper approach. If you look at it this way first impressions are
important in every culture. With the plethora of cultures out there and each family shaped by these

India does have major health care hurdles. The biggest issues that affect healthcare in India stem
from poverty and sanitation. Multiple complications arise when 638 million people open
defecate and 122 million have no access to toilets (Indian Child, 1995). India s social economic
gaps are profound and 85% of healthcare is private sector, which makes it unreachable by the
majority of the public (Indian Child, 1995). With a rapidly emerging economy India is trying to
catch up to it s healthcare needs and may be attained with a healthy economy developing. India is
assessing their needs and understanding the importance of investing into social fabric. India has
some good advantages for tackling healthcare 1. Utilizing models from other nations. 2. Learning to
avoid costly mistakes from other countries. 3. Has the financial power to do so. Family A s current

Homeserve s Board Of Directors (NED)
Coyle (2014) notes that the composition of the Board of Directors is dependent on the size of the
company. The board is normally composed of a chairman, the Chief Executive Officer, a Senior
Independent Director, executive directors and non executive directors (NEDs).
II.1.1. Absence of Non Executive Directors (NEDs)
The role of the Independent Non Executive Directors is to provide a balance to the Board and to
ensure that the discussions are robust. The NEDs bring skills, knowledge and experience to the
Board that the executive directors do not have as their backgrounds are different they are expected
to be able to offer different ideas.

Although Homeserve attempted to put female board members recently, they still failed to meet
the requirements of the Davies 2011 report to recruit more women to the board; Lord Davies
stressed the need to double the women at board level by 2015. (Davies, 2011) In recent times
there has been one female director on the board but if there had been a serious effort made to
recruit more women during that six year period when the corporate failings were highlighted these
errors may have been corrected. It is felt that female directors inspire a company to increase the
company s corporate governance profile, as they are more meticulous on ensuring the effectiveness
of the board.
We recommend HomeServe to revise its senior management s role and appointment and to

Oaths Euphemisms
A euphemism is the substitution of an agreeable or less offensive expression in place of one that
may offend or suggest something unpleasant to the listener;[1] or in the case of doublespeak, to
make it less troublesome for the speaker.[citation needed] It also may be a substitution of a
description of something or someone rather than the name, to avoid revealing secret, holy, or sacred
names to the uninitiated, or to obscure the identity of the subject of a conversation from potential
eavesdroppers. Some euphemisms are intended to be funny.

The common names of illicit drugs, and the plants used to obtain them, often undergo a process
similar to taboo deformation, because new terms are devised in order to discuss them secretly in
the presence of others. This process often occurs in English (e.g. speed or crank for meth). It occurs
even more in Spanish, e.g. the deformation of names for cannabis: mota (lit., something which
moves on the black market), replacing grifa (lit., something coarse to the touch ), replacing
marihuana (a female personal name, MarГa Juana), replacing caГ±amo (the original Spanish name
for the plant, derived from the Latin genus name Cannabis). All four of these names are still used in
various parts of the Hispanophone world, although caГ±amo ironically has the least underworld
connotation, and is often used to describe industrial hemp, or legitimate medically prescribed
cannabis.
[edit] The Euphemism Treadmill
Euphemisms often evolve over time into taboo words themselves, through a process described by
W.V.O. Quine, and more recently dubbed the euphemism treadmill by Steven Pinker. (cf. Gresham
s Law in economics). This is the well known linguistic process known as pejoration.
Words originally intended as euphemisms may lose their euphemistic value, acquiring the negative
connotations of

African Racism In Pan Africanism In The 19th Century
Pan Africanism was a philosophical, economic and sociocultural call for unity between Africans
and the diaspora that gained popularity in the 19th century. The aim of the movement was to resist
physical and symbolic domination exerted by capitalist powers and overturn the social hierarchies
established by the forces of slavery, racism, and colonialism in Africa and abroad. The idea behind
including the African diaspora in Pan Africanist efforts is due not only to the common history that
connects them but to a common plight rooted in the same racism experienced by Africans and
people of African descent. United, African Nations would have the socio political and economic
strength to compete on the world stage and the power to redefine the narratives illustrating
blackness in an Eurocentric society within a Eurocentric world. Among the black leaders that
represented Pan Africanism were W.E.B DuBois and Marcus Garvey, political advocates different,
and almost opposing, in their methods but similar in their belief in the need for African solidarity in
order to reassert African pride and humanity from neo colonial subjugation. Pan Africanism gained
institutional legitimacy with the founding of the African Association in London and the
international attention gained by the various congresses that called for multinational participation,
both highlighted the priorities of Africans dispersed throughout the world by asserting themselves
as a solidified political entity with aims and

Consumerism In Brave New World Essay
Consumerism is one of the main themes in the book Brave New World, but it is also becoming
big in modern society. In Brave New World, consumerism is a main factor of the lifestyle. In our
society, consumerism is becoming a big factor of our lifestyle too. Brave New World depicts a
life where you are essentially made to earn money, then spend it to gain satisfaction. In modern
society, spending money on products and services is very relevant. Advertisements are constantly
everywhere persuading people to purchase something. Consumerism has essentially become a life
goal in our society today. In both of these societies, consumerism is depicted in very similar ways.

While primarily done as a way to reduce worker turnover, Ford also recognized that by paying
his workers more, they would become greater consumers (Cloer, 2013). The assembly line
created a mass production of goods to be sold to earn a profit. Paying workers more money also
contributes to the workers buying more. The God of Brave New World is Ford for he invented
the assembly line, the ability to mass produce, and the vision that everyone could own a car
(Boyle, 2013). Henry Ford in Brave New World is seen as the god of this society. People worship
and praise him and this is due to his invention of the assembly line. Both the book and modern
life has this in common because Ford did contribute to consumerism in America by creating the
assembly line as well as paying workers more money so that they will spend more.
Advertisements also play a big role in both the World State and modern life. In the book,
Hypnopaedia serves as a form of advertisement that teaches people to want to buy more. In modern
society, advertisements are everywhere, from television commercials to radio, to newspapers, to
billboards. Both of these advertisements serve the purpose to make consumers want to spend

Fiscal policy involves the use of government spending, taxation and borrowing to affect the level
and growth of aggregate demand, output and jobs. Fiscal policy is also used to change the
pattern of spending on goods and services. It is also a means by which a redistribution of income

National insurance contributions are the closest example in the UK of a proportional tax, although
low income earners do not pay NICs below an income threshold. A regressive tax is the rate of tax
falls as incomes rise I.e. the average rate of tax is lower for people of higher incomes. In the UK,
regressive taxes come from excise duties of items of spending such as cigarettes and alcohol.
Indirect taxes forma larger percentage of the disposable income of those who earn less, even
though they may also spend less.
How the current government is using fiscal policy.
The current collation government are using fiscal policy to attempt to cut down borrowing and the
budget deficit from previous borrowing of the recent labour governments to be in power. The
Coalition Government wants to halve the budget deficit over a five year period, they have launched
a programme of fiscal austerity amounting to ВЈ126 billion a year of combined spending cuts and
tax rises. Most of the fiscal austerity is coming through planned reductions in the real level of
government spending. 80% will come from spending reductions, 20% is forecast to come from
higher taxes. The fiscal squeeze is highly controversial and has led to an impassioned debate
among economists about the best way to control a budget deficit as an economy struggles to lift
itself out of recession and sustain a recovery. Keynesian economists argue that deficit reduction
policies risk driving the economy into a second recession

Panic Disorder Analysis

situations. Therefore, it is of no surprise that panic disorderand other types of anxietydisorders are
so common. These disorder affect several types of people, caused by several different reasons, has

difficult experiences, such as moving away from home, having to make their own choices, and
growing in responsibility Though it is very rare, children have also been diagnosed with panic

their lives where they may be settled. However, at this age people have children, jobs, and several
different relationships to maintain. They may be overwhelmed by the challenges of parenthood and
constant job demands. This mid adult time in people s lives may also be a major time of growth

Importance Of Human Interaction In The Novel The Fault In...
In today s society, human interaction is a must. People crave relationships to fill a void in life,
feeding off of others in order to succeed as well as develop the social skills needed to persevere
in the world. Human interaction (such as building relationships with loved ones) is a very critical
and crucial part in life. In 1932, an experiment by Harry Frederick Harlow a well known
psychologist involving rhesus monkeys was conducted. In this experiment, Harlow and his
colleagues separated newborn rhesus monkeys from their mothers, holding each one in isolation
chambers. The study showed that when placed in total isolation for the first eights months of life,
denying all contact with other infants or with either type of surrogate mother, they were
permanently damaged. The need to be accepted and cared for by another person (or in this case
primate) is inevitable. In the novel, The Fault In Our Stars , a theme surrounding relationships is
present and plays a major role in developing the story. John Green not only shows the effects of
cancer and its side effects, he also shows how those detriments on the one fighting the battle can
affect friends and family around them, as well as the importance of building relationships while
you still can. The protagonist, Hazel Grace Lancaster, closes out the world and everyone in it, in
hopes of minimizing her path of destruction that will be made after she dies. On the other hand,
Augustus Waters is the light at the end of her

He explains eight developmental stages in which physical, cognitive, instinctual, and sexual
changes combine to trigger an internal crisis whose resolution results in either psychosocial
regression or growth and the development of specific virtues (Erikson, 2012). Since studies
show that the develop of schizophrenia around the ages of 16 through 30 and John was in
graduate school at the time of development it is safe to say that he was in his 20 s. In Erikson
eight stages of development John is in stage six of the eight stages of development which is
intimacy versus isolation. Erikson stated that a person who, as a result of sever disturbances in
the earliest dyadic relationships, fails to develop a basic sense of trust or the virtue of hope may
be predisposed as an adult to the profound withdrawal and regression characteristic of
schizophrenia (Erikson, 2012). Due to earlier difficulties in development intimacy versus isolation
may be impacted by schizophrenia in adulthood. Since this stage is contributed to love it is
obvious that John is having problems in this stage (Reitan, 2013). Due to the development of
schizophrenia at an early stage in the lifespan development it is easy to say the people with
schizophrenia will need support during the later stages of development to ensure that they will be
able to continue with developmental skills and wellness (Reitan,

The Ones Who Walk Away From The Omelas By Ursula Le Guin
A dream of ignorance The short story The ones who walk away from the Omelas by Ursula Le
Guin does a great job of criticizing the flaws of a capitalist society. What this means is that she
talks about how it has become a standard for someone to become happy at the expense of others.
In order to demonstrate this she presents a society that guarantees eternal happiness at the
expense of a single child who must suffer through it all. The characters are faced with two
choices which would be to stay and accept the child s fate or to walk away and leave for the
mountains. Both of these choices do not involve helping the child but rather abandoning it in both
circumstances. This is a criticism of how people in reality typically treat those who are... Show

Le Guin s exploitation of this in her writing gives us a clear indication of her intended audience.
This once again justifies my theory as to why Omelas is based off of a dream she once had. What
the dream did was remind of her that there are people out there suffering and being completely
ignored. The fact that she contributed towards the continuation of such suffering ultimately inspired
her to push for change in public awareness. An important method that Le Guin uses is to maintain
respect by not acting angry to the general public. If she was calling out individuals disrespectfully
then she herself would be subject to criticism as well. This is why she turns to writing due to past
difficulties with public activism. While she did help influence a few people to help spread the
word, she gained more public criticism as people found her too demanding(jstor.org). Therefore she
switched to becoming an activist through writing literature. Switching through this method has
helped gain widespread respect while further popularizing her cause. An interesting fact about this
short and the poverty rate in the Unites States there seems to be a positive correlation in terms of
reducing it. The story was written in the year 1973 and the poverty rate has reduced by a seven
percent(the nation.org). While there is shown improvements from back then, these

The Biomechanics Of A Skiing
For this research assignment, the topic I would like to discuss is the biomechanics of a skiing.
Skiing is one type of sports that has begun to increase in popularity. Athletes are always trying to
discover ways to get stronger, faster, and higher with minimal injuries. Improving our
biomechanics is one important way of improving your athletic performance, and limit injuries.
However, there are many pros and cons within the biomechanics of skiing. I would like to learn
more about leg alignment and form and how these can affect the skier. Abnormalities of the leg
and lower leg alignment are important factors while skiing. To be an efficient skier it requires a
balanced movement. My methods of data collection to analyze my subject s skill movement will
consist of a multi methods approach. This approach includes a mixture of literature reviews,
observational review through video analysis, and interviews with the athlete. These data
collection methods will help me in my project by allowing me to strategically point out
differences in angular placement and posture, along with speed variations due to changes in
position. I will be able to compare a professional style of skiing with that of a novice skier and
point out the differences in positioning between an experienced skier and a novice skier. I will
limit research information to scholarly and reputable sources only. Once of the sources I will
reference comes from a research article called Clinical Biomechanics of Skiing.

The Relationship Between Architecture And The Human Body The Relationship between Architecture and the Human Body Introduction The human body is the ultimate tool for discovering the environment. Human anatomy is considered to be nature s peak of perfection and certain features serve as inspiration for many architects. To study the relationship between the human body and architecture, one must not be limited to human body parts resemblance to architectural works but to a larger extent consider human emotions, sensory nerves, the mind and general human psychology. In essence everything that makes us human. In its simplest definition Architecture can be described as an art or practice of designing buildings. Sense of place means a metal appreciation of environment and the creation of feeling among the viewers in relation to the environment. A place unlike space is mixed with human values and principles. Phenomenology of sense of place in Architecture explores ontological character of humans and recognition that setting is an integral ontological structure essential for human psychological existence. The long term relationship between people and places establishes meanings and identities with the physical environment hence creating a sense of place. Before a structure can be generated, the designer must know the place on an intimate and deep level based on the existing patterns, forces and energies of a site. This is done through exploration and analysis using systems of mapping and documentation. The patterns and webs develop a unique portrait of the site. The dynamics of the place begin to reveal themselves as tangible data that is then used as the generative information of the architecture. To design an architecture is to engage in the act of placement and the success of such a design is determined by how effective it ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Organizational Behavior And Its Effect On Work Performance... 1.INTRODUCTION In a period when commerce is constantly changing at a growing pace, the need for firms to adapt to or even influence this evolution is at an all time high. That is, businesses must learn to engage in a continuous renewal of themselves while maintaining their structural integrity (Anderson, 1990 cited in Hunter, 2002). This is because people s sense of identity has developed which, consequently, has had an effect on work performance. Further, managing individuals with different identities is made more complex by the increase in diversity or the demand for it in organizations due to globalization and rising social awareness. It is, therefore, becoming increasingly important for corporate leaders to have a good grasp of organizational behavior and use it to their company s advantage. 2.STRUCTURE 2.1.Restructuring at CondГ© Nast Within any organization, the formal division, grouping and coordination of job tasks, otherwise known as its structure, must complement its goals and objectives to move forward effectively (Robbins and Judge, 2013; Mullins, 2016). For instance, publishing company CondГ© Nast, well known for its brands such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, Glamour, Brides, Self, GQ, The New Yorker, Teen Vogue etc. (CondГ© Nast, n.d.a), is currently undergoing a restructuring phase. As society advances towards a more digital age, the publishing industry must become familiar with the utilization of electronic media to complement their printed ones (Tarkiainen et al, ... • 4. Latin American Identity Essay The contemporary application of the term Hispanic is a prime example of imperial erasure and re identification of indigenous peoples to the Americas with their colonizers. Those referred to as Hispanic are designated as tied to Spain or the Spanish language, but may be of any race, ethnicity, or culture; furthermore, this term is often incorrectly used interchangeably with more specific terms like Latinx that denote origins in the region of Latin America. Many people of mixed native and European blood have no connection to their ancestry to the former. Before the indigenous people of the Americaswere stripped of their language and culture, they were unique civilizations and empires like the Nahua people whose point of view is recorded in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Their practice of human sacrifice was brutal at the very least, but served a purpose in the grand scheme of their hegemony. They dominated neighboring nations and sacrificed prisoners of war, believing that the source of all life, the sun, would die unless it were fed with human blood (xxxviii xxxix). A strong component of the Nahua identity was this status as a military power in present day central Mexico, reinforced by an education system in which fathers vowed to send their sons to school to be taught the fundamentals of religion and ethics, and were also trained in the arts of war (xlv). This identity was challenged when the Spaniards arrived with alien technology such as metal armor, cannons, and arquebuses. The Aztec Empire exhibited a class system consisting of land owning nobles, the middle class divided into familial clans, a class of slaves and indentured servants, and a body of wise men who served as religious scholars (xlii). The government was headed by a king of noble blood and based in the elaborate capital of Tenochtitlan. Different approaches will work for different children in your family, and the rules will change as your children grow. Understanding why children misbehave All children test the limits you set and try to cross boundaries some of the time. This is an inevitable part of growing up, learning and becoming an independent person. Younger children particularly may test constantly. This is not them being naughty or disobedient it is the only way they can learn when you mean what you say and what the limits to their behaviour are. Attention seeking Children will do just about anything to get the attention they crave from their parents. Revenge Trying to get back at someone they feel has treated them badly a sibling, parent or friend. Children may not understand your reasons for insisting on a rule or limit it helps to recognise their feelings of anger. Feeling sad A child of any age may show that they are feeling sad or anxious by behaving badly and may need more sympathy and affection. Punishing them will only make matters worse. Feeling powerless If a child feels upset at not having control, they may often hit out or get mad at an older sibling or friend.

Tomboy Research Paper It s abundantly clear that there are distinct physical differences among the sexes, however women and men have been taught and thrown into a structural system that has brainwashed us into believing that based on what sexual organ you so happened to be born with you must follow the guidelines throughout life to fulfill that particular gender. Growing up as a femalein society you are taught that barbies, baby dolls, Polly pockets, playing dress up, and liking the color pink is essential to being a proper girl and that taking a fancy to hot wheels, action figures, and Pokemon cards is considered wrong and you automatically get labeled a tomboy. With that said, take this as an eye opener to educate yourself on issues involving PEOPLE, take interests in social problems involving PEOPLE, and take a genuine concern towards the well beings of our PEOPLE. In This Paper, I Plan To Argue The Ideas By Edward Conard, In this paper, I plan to argue the ideas by Edward Conard, in his argument that we don t need more humanities major in our academic system. In specific, this paper will explore the writer s claims, the gaps in his arguments and counter arguments in this topic. My argument is important because I will challenge Conard s article with the self fashioning s article by Keohane. In Conard s article, he demonstrates to answer the question whether or not we need more humanities . His answer is that we should be focus on technology and innovation to have a better living standards. (43) In the same way, I would challenge the students to leverage their energy and time to become the best they can be in their life. (43) This paper also supports the self fashioning article by Keohane. Self fashioning builds the character, personality, and focus on the student. A self fashioned student is more likely to succeed in life in whichever line of specialization he chooses. Likewise, I disagree with Conard on the point that innovation and technology are more likely to bring success to the student. From experience, people who know their personality and character are able to use in their skills, time and education to be the best in whichever field, whether in technology and innovation or humanities. In my view, success and failure are not a factor of chosen line of specialization rather, it is a factor of hard work and determination to create a change. Self fashioning is more fundamental and basic education, like authority, and intelligence and it is determined by how people deal with small and basic things in life. Things like cleaning, washing, and taking care of oneself are more important that education when it comes to self fashioning. In my life, the most common basic things derive from self fashioning. • 13. My Sister s Keeper By Jodi Picoult My Sister s Keeper by Jodi Picoult beautifully illustrates many different legal, ethical, and moral dilemmas that can accompany a possible terminal illness diagnosis within a family especially that of a young family. Ultimately the book causes you to re examine any stance you may have had between that of what is legally and ethically right and what is morally right. Brian and Sara Fitzgerald have two small children who seem healthy and happy. Suddenly their daughter Kate falls sick, and after many tests the doctors discover that she has acute promyelocytic leukemia, a rare and often fatal form of cancer; Kate is only three years old. When none of the family members are a match to be able to donate bone marrow a doctor suggest that they could conceive a genetically designed baby who would be a perfect match for Kate. In today s society there are designer babies who have hair or eyes handpicked for them by their parents for a specific desired look. It seems there is no real harm in this, but conceiving a child to be a perfect match for the living sibling may cross some lines. The new child in question would be basically a spare, a savor sibling to the older child, used for the harvesting of whatever the other may need to stay alive. The doctor should never have even suggested this seeing as it infringes on basic human rights of a child who for many years will have no choice or control what will happen to their body. And in doing this there is no thought of the welfare and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Iceal Gene Hambleton (call sign Bat 21) and crew were shot down by a volley of surface to air missiles (SAM). By this time in the war, the North Vietnamese had become proficient at downing American aircraft using Soviet Union equipment. As the only survivor of the EB 66 crew, Hambleton parachuted to relative safety behind North Vietnamese lines. Due to his rank and prior held positions, Hambleton had Top Secret information on Strategic Air Command operations and was an expert in surface to air missile countermeasures. Having this information made Hambleton a high value target for the North Vietnamese. Due to the large scale American operation to retrieve just one pilot, the North Vietnamese suspected whatever was in the jungle behind their lines must be of high value and tried just as hard to prevent the American s from retrieving what was theirs. Hambleton s rescue became what would be the largest, longest, and most complex search and rescue operation during the VietnamWar. 1 History President Richard Nixon s policy on the war in Vietnam by the spring of 1972 had lead to a large draw down in American combat forces. During this draw down, the North Vietnamese Army was preparing for their largest attack of the war. • 17. Theme Of Self Image In 12 Angry Men Self image is a largely talked about issue. From negative to positive outlooks, it can be seen in most magazines, heard on most talk shows, and is mentioned in almost every article on the internet. The 1957 MGM film Twelve Angry Men compels the characters in the film and the audiences to view their own self image when making a decision on the guilt of an eighteen year old boy who is accused of killing his father. By using logic, reflection, and attitude, the movie shows each of the characters to review their views and beliefs and how they see themselves and others. During the film, logic was required on everyone s part. They were deciding on an eighteen year old kid s life! It was not a decision to be made quickly. Mr. Davis realizes this and is the only one to vote not guilty when taking the first vote (Lumet). Logic came into play because Mr. Davis thought logically about all of the evidence presented and because of this he felt that there was a reasonable doubt and could therefore, not sentence the young man. Throughout the rest of the film, we see more of the men thinking logically, for example, when Juror Nine realizes that the woman who claims she witnessed the murder, wore glasses and would not have been able to clearly see the boy if she claimed to be laying in bed trying to fall asleep. Another example is when juror number five, who grew up in the same area of town that the defense did, shows the proper way of using a switchbladeknife, making a logical ... • 21. Native American Colonialism From the time during North American colonialism to the modern era, American Indians have responded to and countered U.S. policies, philosophies, and agreements in hopes of sustaining and preserving their sovereignty and relationships to the land. As a result, the U.S. government employed many different approaches in dealing with American Indians in hopes of assimilation and diminishment of Native American culture from the mid 19th century to early 20th century. Consequently, as the U.S. government policies of assimilation directed towards American Indians evolved from 1850 to 1930, so did the Indian response. Native American responses to early aggressive U.S. polices, as in the violations of the Treaty of Fort Laramie and the Confederate Home Guard, resulted in violent resistive responses from American Indians for the ossification of their relationship to land. As U.S. detribalization policies later shifted to a more diplomatic approach for improved westernized assimilation, like the Dawes Allotment Act and use of boarding schools, American Indian s response metamorphosed from resistance to adaptation for the preservation and survival of their native identities and culture. The intrinsic relationships that American Indians had to their lands was a non negotiable doctrine for many tribes. Violating these terms proved to promote resistive responses that frequently involved violence and war. In addition, many early U.S. policies in the 1850 s commonly disregarded sovereign ... Therefore, to advance knowledge in the areas of human and natural science, people must disagree. The roles of logic, reason, and emotion will be investigated to see how they are used to help gain new knowledge in both human and natural science. Many knowledge claims in human and natural science are based on theories. Jean Lamarck proposed the theory of evolutionin 1801. Erikson stated that a person who, as a result of sever disturbances in the earliest dyadic relationships, fails to develop a basic sense of trust or the virtue of hope may be predisposed as an adult to the profound withdrawal and regression characteristic of schizophrenia (Erikson, 2012). Due to earlier difficulties in development intimacy versus isolation may be impacted by schizophrenia in adulthood. Since this stage is contributed to love it is obvious that John is having problems in this stage (Reitan, 2013). Due to the development of schizophrenia at an early stage in the lifespan development it is easy to say the people with schizophrenia will need support during the later stages of development to ensure that they will be able to continue with developmental skills and wellness (Reitan, ... • 53. The Ones Who Walk Away From The Omelas By Ursula Le Guin A dream of ignorance The short story The ones who walk away from the Omelas by Ursula Le Guin does a great job of criticizing the flaws of a capitalist society. What this means is that she talks about how it has become a standard for someone to become happy at the expense of others. In order to demonstrate this she presents a society that guarantees eternal happiness at the expense of a single child who must suffer through it all. The characters are faced with two choices which would be to stay and accept the child s fate or to walk away and leave for the mountains. Both of these choices do not involve helping the child but rather abandoning it in both circumstances. This is a criticism of how people in reality typically treat those who are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Le Guin s exploitation of this in her writing gives us a clear indication of her intended audience. This once again justifies my theory as to why Omelas is based off of a dream she once had. What the dream did was remind of her that there are people out there suffering and being completely ignored. The fact that she contributed towards the continuation of such suffering ultimately inspired her to push for change in public awareness. An important method that Le Guin uses is to maintain respect by not acting angry to the general public. If she was calling out individuals disrespectfully then she herself would be subject to criticism as well. This is why she turns to writing due to past difficulties with public activism. While she did help influence a few people to help spread the word, she gained more public criticism as people found her too demanding(jstor.org). Therefore she switched to becoming an activist through writing literature. Switching through this method has helped gain widespread respect while further popularizing her cause. An interesting fact about this short and the poverty rate in the Unites States there seems to be a positive correlation in terms of reducing it. The story was written in the year 1973 and the poverty rate has reduced by a seven percent(the nation.org). While there is shown improvements from back then, these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Nazi Invasion Of Holland Research Paper The Nazi Invasion of Holland Could you imagine being cooped up in a room barely three feet wide by ten feet long and sharing it with fifteen other people? The Nazi army invaded Holland on May 10, 1940. In a matter of six days the all Dutch forces and resistance had ceased. And so the hard and challenging life had begun. All the Jews were sent to camps with no mercy or sympathy. The Dutch could not stop the advance of the powerful German army. German bombers attacked Holland on May 10,1940. The target was the Waalhaven airfield to the south of Rotterdam. An hour later the Germans dropped a battalion of paratroopers were dropped onto the field. Dutch troops stationed at the field put up a fierce fight, but the German paratroopers managed ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 55. The Biomechanics Of A Skiing For this research assignment, the topic I would like to discuss is the biomechanics of a skiing. Skiing is one type of sports that has begun to increase in popularity. Athletes are always trying to discover ways to get stronger, faster, and higher with minimal injuries. Improving our biomechanics is one important way of improving your athletic performance, and limit injuries. However, there are many pros and cons within the biomechanics of skiing. I would like to learn more about leg alignment and form and how these can affect the skier. Abnormalities of the leg and lower leg alignment are important factors while skiing. To be an efficient skier it requires a balanced movement. My methods of data collection to analyze my subject s skill movement will consist of a multi methods approach. This approach includes a mixture of literature reviews, observational review through video analysis, and interviews with the athlete. These data collection methods will help me in my project by allowing me to strategically point out differences in angular placement and posture, along with speed variations due to changes in position. I will be able to compare a professional style of skiing with that of a novice skier and point out the differences in positioning between an experienced skier and a novice skier. I will limit research information to scholarly and reputable sources only. Once of the sources I will reference comes from a research article called Clinical Biomechanics of Skiing. ...
