Strengths And Weaknesses Of Two Spains
What exactly does Las Dos EspaГ±as refer to? Las Dos EspaГ±as or the two Spains refers to the
long term hostility existing in Spain between the conservative and liberal political parties in Spain.
The conservative party is the more close minded Spaniards while the liberal party is more open
minded Spaniards. Spainis split roughly 50:50 between the two parties. The split is one of the
most critical aspects in the Spanish history. If one does not know about the Two Spains, one does
not know the full history of Spain. One of the main strengths is when both groups agree on the
same ideas. But periodically the Two Spains lose their patience and begin to challenge each other.
The phrase Two Spains originated in a short poem written by a Spanish poet Antonio Machado....

The Romans were in Spain for six hundred years, which dates back to 205 BC to 410 AD.
Fernando and Isabel then continued with the Conservative Party in 1492. The inquisition of
Jews was established in 1480 but the expulsion of Jews did not occur until Fernando and Isabel s
reign over Spain. Under the reign of Fernando and Isabel, all Jews were ordered to leave Spain;
they were allowed to dispose of their property but were not able to take any silver or gold out of
the country. The Conservative Party was a strictly Catholic party thus the expulsion of the Jews
proves that religion was used as a weapon during that time. The Conservatives appointed a strong
central authority someone who would be a voice of the party. The Conservative party made every
effort to unite Spain through politics, and religion but the opposing party did not

The Theory Of The Mathematics Teacher
While the rule taught youth is at sea when beyond his rules, the youth instructed in principles
solves a new case as readily as an old one . (Spencer, 1878, p.57)
What you see and what you hear depends a great deal on where you are standing. It also depends on
what sort of person you are . (Lewis, 1994, p.108)
The mathematics teacher builds examples into their arsenal of resources to help demonstrate the
mathematical principles they are trying to teach (Dreyfus, 1994). However, not all examples are
equally constructed and provide the same learning experience to the learner. Spencer (1978)
believes that learners who know principles are more prepared than rule focussed learners to tackle
problems. This is the same within mathematics, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The methodology will describe how the study will be conducted and why. Observations will be
recorded on the process of constructing examples and how they are employed in the classroom.
Percentage examples will be constructed and these will be used in the teaching of percentages to a
Year 7 class. Further observations will be made on how the learners approach and conduct the
examples. Analysis of the response to these examples will be made where recommendations will be
offered to improve my application as a mathematics teacher. It is intended that this investigation and
use of Variation Theory will improve my understanding of the construction of examples and thus
improve the learners experience.
BACKGROUND
The study was conducted in a Leicestershire high school that accepts learners from year 7 to 9.
Year 7s enter directly from several feeder primary schools and generally leave to join a single
upper school where they sit GCSEs. Although it does not take the learners through formal
exams, the school s primary focus is on the preparation to attain qualifications. This means its
Scheme of Work (SOW) is fixed to meeting the National Curriculum (NC).
The class studied is a year 7 mixed ability mathematics class. This consisted of 32 learners with a
boy to girl ratio of 2:1. There are several behavioural issues regards some learners disrupting the
class and,

Essay On Nanoswimmers
Wirelessly controlled nanoscale robots can be used for in vitro and in vivo biochemical
application and are usually based on (or mimic) the rotary motion of helical bacterial flagella for
propulsion. However, researchers still have not been able to create a man made nanohelix that has
the ability to change its geometry in response to multiple environmental factor. In other words, it
cannot adapt. Thus, a team of researchers led by Kim, examine the bacterial flagella and how they
change their helical form in response to environmental stimuli by studying three flagellar forms.
The team of researches were able to show that the ability to steer the devices and induce flagellar
bundling in multi flagellated nanoswimmers. Furthermore, they were... Show more content on

The normal run tumble behavior observed in swimming chemotaxis was mainly suppressed and
the cells were continuously reoriented by random jostling by their neighbors which randomized
their directions in a few tenths of a second. On the other hand, at the edge of the swarm, cells
usually paused and then swam back toward the center of the swarm or along its edge. Hence, the
properties of the interior of the monolayer was different than the properties of its outer edge. Thus,
the local alignment among cells was accomplished by cell body collision and short range
hydrodynamic interactions.
While there s a fairly good understanding of how bacteria regulate, assemble and rotate their
flagella to swim in liquid media, little is still known about how some bacteria is able to use their
flagella in order to move over the tops of solids otherwise known as swarming. Thus, Kearns
studied what is needed in swarming motility in diverse bacterial model systems such as an increase
in the number of flagella per cell, secretion of a surfactant to reduce surface tension for spreading
and movement in multicellular groups. Therefore, Kearns was able to determine that swarming
motility generally requires an energy rich, solid medium, however, the specific conditions that
support swarming depends on the organism in question. Swarming was enhanced by high growth
rates that may account for

Daniel Castro s Examination of Las Casas Work
Daniel Castro examines the work of Las Casas. He discusses the humanitarian element Las
Casas is known for but mainly highlights the rarely exposed ambivalent political and economic
imperialistic motives behind his humanitarianism and his will to convert the Indigenous people.
Castro focuses on the apostle and destructor dichotomy of Las Casas. Castro states that while
Las Casas was fighting to defend indigenous rights, he was also actively and willingly
participated in aiding Spanish s destruction of the natives; Las Casas s work with and for the
Indians is more paternalistic than paternal, more sympathetic than empathetic . Castro
emphasizes the Dominican s actions as justification and aid to achieving the possession of the
new land and their resources. He discredits the idea of Las Casas being an apostle by counter
arguing that an apostle is an individual who performs active person to person evangelizing to
convert unbelievers to his/hers own faith, and proclaims that Las Casas rarely had direct contact
with the indigenous people (pp. 3). The issues addressed by Castro are very important because he
is the first to emphasize the role the Dominican Bartolome de Las Casas not only as a reformer but
as an active agent of Spanish imperialism who contributed to the subjugation of the Ameridians
under more paternalistic and benevolent conditions than his contemporaries (pp. 184). This is a
side to the work of Las Casas that is rarely highlighted, therefore it is

If things are recorded as achieved, which are only almost achieved, then the observation is not
valid. Next steps cannot be planned as it may be a huge step for the child if they have not yet

Avoiding bias
. Sometimes it can be useful for a second person to assess a child as observations can be very
subjective. It is also useful to use a wide variety of methods of assessment. Things need to be
recorded according to what is exactly happening and should not be interpreted according to the
assessors point of view.

Assessment Framework/s
Assessment frameworks are the way in which a child is assessed to see whether they have any
particular needs, what they are and how we can help them be met. It is useful in deciding whether
a child has reached expected milestones. Assessment frameworks may be summative or formative.
Formative assessments are used to check progress and helps us to consider learning opportunities
needed to progress. The ongoing observations we do of children are formative assessments. They
inform the next steps of the childs learning. Summative assessment provides staff with information
about the attainment of knowledge and is usually measured against a benchmark or standard. For
example, the EYFS assessment which is done toward the end of the reception year. This sums up all

The Concept Of Heritage In Everyday Use By Alice Walker
Heritage: it is something that everyone possesses, whether they like it or not. It is not something
that people can choose, and it is not something people can change. Every family has their own
unique heritage, each celebrating it in a slightly different way. In brief, heritage is the celebration
of one s familyand culture through family holidays, feasts, festivals, and traditions. Heritage is
something that people innately celebrate, it does not require much effort to celebrate it. However,
some people make it something not innate by using their heritage as an ostentatious display. The
concept of celebrating heritage innately or ostentatiously is explored through the characters
Maggie, Mama, and Dee in the short storyEveryday Use by Alice Walker.

Powerful Women In Shakespeare s Othello
In Othello, Shakespeare introduces us to many strong male figures such as Othello, Michael
Cassio, Roderigo and Iago, but Shakespeare also created powerful women in this play as well. In
fact, the women in the play tend to take front and centering in a lot of scene, stealing moments. The
moments in particular would be the scenes towards the end of the play with Desdemona and Emili
talking about a wife s loyalty to her husbandand how should she respond to him. Their beliefs in
the play are put into action in the final Act, and even though they both have completely different
views on relationships, they both follow their convictions. In act 4, scene 3 we see Desdemona ask

The Importance Of Censorship In Music
Censorship is a broad topic that can lead to chaos and misunderstanding if not clearly conveyed
for what it is. For example, rock music, the first major threat to traditional thinking caused a divide
between generations because of how different and explicit it became in the mid 1900s. It s no
surprise there were people ready to combat rock music. However, what is surprising is the fact that
so much happened with so little change in the music around us. Censorship if anything only helped
intensify the differences between society.
Controversy and censorship in music was around long before the rock music. In fact, a genre called
the blues consistently dealt with the imposed censorship on their recordings (McDonald, 1988,
pp.295 296). Also race spiked the urge to censor rock and roll even further. With some of the
leading people such as Chuck Berry and Little Richard being people of color it was no surprise that
there was outrage over their music. Where things get even more traumatic is when the Ku Klux Klan
(KKK) who was a radical racist group told the public not to buy Negro records because they
were poisoning the youth. This depicts the fact that racism was a heavy combatant against any
form of rock and roll. Race played its part in many forms of music (jazz, blues, etc.), but rock
music was seen as a major starting point for censorship since it caused such a major divide
between the youth and adults (McDonald, 1988, p.297). In today s society, I believe that genres of

The And Gold Tour Bus From Louisiana State University
On Losing Everything
This past week I saw that purple and gold tour bus from Louisiana State University in my town,
not only surprising me but also forcing me to think back on my childhood in the south. Growing
up in southern Louisiana one must be prepared for major storms and flooding at less than a day s
notice. Hurricanes are powerful storms that can ravish towns and can be deadly for people and
animals alike. Hurricane Katrina tore through the Gulf Coast in August of 2005, and I was in the
midst of that wreckage. My family and I were living in a small, close knit community, named St.
Amant, about an hour west of New Orleans. On the third day of the hurricane, my family
experienced a loss greater than we could have ever imagined. This ... Show more content on

In no way do I mean to trivialize the severe and deadly effects hurricanes can potentially bring, but
not all hurricanes are the same. Most storms that would make it to the area I used to live usually
lost strength by the time it got to us. For the weaker storms, the kids would get a mini vacation
from school, and the parents got a much needed break from work. At the time, I thought everyone
in Louisiana and especially New Orleans were not ready for what was coming. Louisiana is a
laid back state, due to its French roots. The catch phrase for the state was always Laissez Les
Bon Temps rouler, or Let the good times roll! So, it s easy to see why the media portrayed
Louisianan s as not caring about the tropical storm that was headed our way. We did care, we
were just expecting much less than what we received. I think a good way to describe this is that
people from California have been through many earthquakes and are prepared for them, but
would you stop living your life for a small earthquake that might not happen? Probably not. My
family tried to be as prepared as we possibly could, but there is only so much money to go around
buying things for situations that might not even happen. My dad purchased our first gasoline
generator earlier that year which sadly put a dent into our emergency savings. Nevertheless, we
had enough supplies, water, and food to last about a week if necessary. From my memories, about a

Impact Of Executive Orders On Society
Presidential Executive Orders and The Social Impact on American Society American Presidents are
constrained in the power they can wield because of the separation of powers between the branches
of government. Presidents use executive orders to compensate for their limited power. Presidents
have also taken unilateral action to address the needs and concerns of important political
constituencies before Congress is ready to act. (Gitterman 2017) Executive orders assume three
forms: 1) self executing, orders that are dependent on government agencies implementing the order,
2) Altering institutional structures and processes, and 3) Symbolic arguing tools. (Mayer 2001)
Presidents also gain more control through unilateralism and collection action because the president
s order is also considered a command; when this command is given to the executive branch, it
conforms to the president s will. (Rudalevige 2012) Presidents must remember that they can be
noble, but when they apply their personal beliefs to executive orders, while ignoring public
sentiment, executive opinions... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Cooper 2001) Executive orders can also influence program funding, such as welfare and food
assistance, healthcare, and social security under vague legislative instructions directing agencies
to decrease funds to the programs. (Orentlicher 2017) Economic policies of the federal
government are often influenced by executive orders that can cause an increase or decrease in
federal revenue; a weak economy with higher taxes makes it harder for families in poverty to meet
basic needs, but a strong long term economy provides increased revenue to the federal government,
which could be used to fund more social programs and reduce the poverty rate. (Gittell

Marketing Plan For Product And The Managers
Second, marketing helps the business find out customer needs, use different selling plan to improve
the sale of the goods or services and then satisfy the needs. Marketing design the plan for the
product and the managers can follow the four condition, product, price, place and promotion, means
the 4Ps of marketing, to decide the final plan. Understanding the customer needs are important in
marketing. Because different type of customers have different needs. Then, customer always be the
main focus into the marketing plan (Chapman 2011, p. 125). However, before the managers decide
the marketing plan, they need to understand the six main type of market. Because choosing the
correct market is important for a product. And it affects the following part of the marketing plan,
such as decision of selling place or the plan of promotion. Then, the six types of market are resource
market, industrial market, intermediate market, consumer market, mass market, and niche market.
Those types of market are totally different and the managers need to choose it carefully when they
decide the marketing plan (Chapman 2011, p. 138 139). In addition, there are four main elements
influence the customer s buying behaviour. On psychological, the influence only affect individual,
then the buying motives, personality and personal education also affect the buying behaviour. Next,
on sociocultural, the culture of the country, customer s social class or family culture might affect
the active of buying.

An Analysis Of Amy Tan s Short Story Two Kinds
The Ungrateful Underachiever
The definition of an underachiever as stated by Webster is one (such as a student) that fails to
attain a predicted level of achievement or does not do as well as expected. In the short story Two
Kinds written by Amy Tan, Ni Kan is the queen of underachievers. She determines at a young age to
become defiant to her mom. After experiencing disappointment from letting her mom down, Ni
Kan determined that she would become an underachiever and intentionally failed throughout her
life.
What makes a child determine at such a young age to defy her mom on every hand for the rest of
their life? The sad realization that Ni Kan would rather see her mother angry at her than
disappointed in her became her revelation. Anger meant that she was in control and not her mom.
And then I saw what seemed to be the prodigy side of me a face I had never seen before. I looked
at my reflection, blinking so that I could see more clearly. The girlstaring back at me was angry,
powerful. She and I were the same. I had new thoughts, willful thoughts or rather, thoughts filled
with lots of won ts. I won t let her change me, I promised myself. I won t be what I m not. (2)
This shows the beginning of when Ni Kan realized she was not ever going to become a child
prodigy for her mom.
During the same week when I read the Amy Tan story, I was in the midst of a conflict with my
own mother. I was trying to decide where to attend graduate school after

Movie V For Vendetta Directed By James Mcteigue
Megan Skolmen 14/05/15 Film V for Vendetta Director: James McTeigue Release Date: February
2006 I watched a film called V for Vendetta directed by James McTeigue. Briefly, this film is
about a mysterious masked man whom we know as V , who is on a quest for revenge for
himself and others considered undesirables by the fascist dictatorship government. The film is
based in 2038 England, and deals with a corrupted society in which a fascist regime is set in
place to seize complete control the citizens through fear, manipulation, and terror. In this
dystopian world, the government is your worst enemy and your human rights are immensely
violated. Up until our protagonist, V, steps up, the people of England make no attempt to fight
for their freedom but instead just do what is expected. Overall, V for Vendetta is a film in which
I quite thoroughly enjoyed and is one that I find to be rather important to watch, but difficult to
explain as it is kind of cryptic and hard at times to understand the context. V for Vendetta is
greatly thought provoking and deals with concerns that aren t all that hard to imagine. Although
the movie is difficult to follow at points this could be simply due to my lack of inquisitive, not a
fault of the film it is definitely one to pay attention to. I have to admit, the film is not what I
imagined, yet I was pleasantly surprised and intrigued. It starts as your typical hero vs. villain film,
but turns deeply political very quickly. A

That one question. That one question that changes everything. That one question that changes

to accept her faults. Celia found a confidence in herself that she never knew she had. She had
gone through many struggles growing up in Sugar Ditch and then thinking her husband didn t
love her. Celia felt like she wasn t good enough because she wasn t the perfect wife or because
she couldn t have children. Celia, at the end of the book, finally accepts that she can t have
children and that Johnny is ok with it. Minnie also helps her build her cooking skills, but also
just helps her as a friend. When Johnny finally finds out about Minnie (and Celia knows he
knows), Celia has a giant weight lifted off her shoulder. She finally changes the way she lives. She

and thoughts. School start time is so very early in the morning. People have early bird classes,
early practices, early meetings, early everything. If the start time of school was pushed back you
would have more time to fit in those activities without having to wake up at 5 am. Students focus
better when they have more sleep and test scores would improve. Many students have so many
activities at night, they can t just go to bed earlier. If school started even just a half hour later, that
would be a half hour more they could be alert and attentive in school. Changing the school start time

Frank Mccourt s Essay Home For The Heart
Social justice and equity are both common ideals to achieve in society. However, social injustice
has been more frequently shown throughout history. The poem, No Irish Need Apply, the exhibit
Home for the Heart, and the magazine article The Education of Frank McCourt are all pieces of
literature that shows the hardships that individuals have to face when searching for social justiceand
equity. As life progresses, the need to achieve social justice becomes more desirable. Social justice
and equity tends to affect all people of all age and race.
Due to the harsh conditions in Ireland, several families decided to immigrate to Eastern Canada and
the United States in search for equity and social justice. In the exhibit Home for the Heart ... Show

Barbara Sande Dimmitt, author of The Education of Frank McCourt writes, [h]ungry was ever
present for Frank, who one day felt so starved that he licked grease from a piece of newspaper
someone had used to wrap fish and chips. Ever since his family moved back to Ireland in search
for a better life, they have not been treated like human beings. Although everyone is said to be
treated equal, Frank McCourt and his family did not have the same experiences as people of
higher standings. One day in school a teacher told McCourt that he can do better in his life and
so he did, Five years later, in 1949, he scraped together enough money to buy passage back to
America (The Education of Frank McCourt) in search for the American Dream. Once he arrived
in America, he decided to change his life for the better and he wanted to achieve social justice.
Dimmitt then states [i]t was the fall of 1970 and his first week of teaching at Seward Park High

Arab Americans Essay
Like other ethnic minority groups in America, Arab Americans face daily challenges in their
overall development and well being. These challenges take the form of discrimination,
stereotyping, and general negative reactions to them as an ethnic group. Arabs, Arab Americans,
and Muslims are often stereotyped in movies as sheiks, barbarians, or terrorist. As many Muslim
Americans are visibly culturally distinct, it would be of value to explore whether attitudes of non
Muslims toward Muslim Americans resemble attitudes expressed by European non Muslims
toward members of these minority groups. Biases The cultural bias in reporting is prevalent in
major US media outlets. For example, on 1 October US news station, NBC reported that three US
soldiers and several Afghans were killed in a suicide attack in Afghanistan. Viewers were

American counselors often do not have an understanding of Arab culture which goes beyond the
stereotyping in the popular media. There may be more acceptances to holistic approaches that
incorporate family and religious or social community. The counselor needs to be open exploring
spiritual beliefs, and the use of prayer, or fasting to reduce stress. Cognitive behavioral strategies
might be productive. Intervention needs to be sensitive and culturally relevant such as generation
in the USA, social class, the environment the client lives/grew up in. Because of the role of fate in
the teachings of Islam, Arab Americans are thought to be survival oriented rather than insight
oriented. Some authors suggest that therapies focused on insight tend to be ineffective and
counterproductive with this population and can be highly anxiety provoking because of the
conflicts between individual versus collective forces (Al Abdul Jabbar Al Issa, 2000). Arab

The Law And Law Code
I know that people deserve the right to defend themselves in court, however a person cannot
adequately defend themselves unless they are very familiar with the law. This is precisely the
reason why lawyers exist. The law is very complex, so rather than forcing someone to go to law
school for ten years, we have them hire lawyers to help them with the law. Basically, the average
person does not know law enough to successfully defend himself or herself in court. I know that
the law code is extensive. It would take a very long time to get through it even if you read
constantly. II. Why am I interested: I can t really remember when I became fascinated in the
field of law and order. It was probably immediately after I started watching the show, you guessed
it, Law and Order. I became so interested with the court, the jury, the judge, but I found the lawyer
to be the most interesting position of them all. Whenever my parents found me not telling the
truth, or misbehaving, I would play pretend and respond to my parents with something along the
lines of: I plead guilty, your honor. I used to look back on it as something humorous and
something I didn t seriously want to do. Although, now I can see clearly that it was one of the
most serious of jobs, with huge competition and challenge. The task of the defense lawyer is
making sure the prosecution proves guilt beyond reasonable doubt. It seems to be one of the
noblest things a human can do. I would also certainly like to find

Examples Of Bitterness In The Crucible
Bitterness is a feeling of anger, hurt, or resentment toward a bad experience or a sense of unjust
treatment. This emotion is human nature since humans were primitive because it made humans
remember events that negatively affected them, causing feelings such as anger, hate, and hostility
toward what caused the problem. In the play The Crucible by Arthur Miller, many circumstances
came up that caused strong feelings of pain, irritation, and furry. Bitterness is used to demonstrate a
factor of human nature throughout the play by illustrating the experiences of resentment caused by
conflicts. A part of human nature is feeling bitter, and that concept is shown through different
situations during the play. Mrs. Putnam in The Crucible was trying... Show more content on

Proctor said this because he was angry and resentful to the judge. The judge had very little
reason to accuse his wife. This causes Proctor to become bitter. Human nature teachers this
because humans strive for the truth. Whenever the truth is twisted humans become bitter and
spiteful. An instance occurred when Elizabeth went against what Proctor told her to do.
PROCTOR: How do you go to Salem when I forbid it? Do you mock me? Shaking her. I ll whip
you if you dare leave this house again! (Miller 55). Proctor gets very furious and threatens to
whip her. When a person sets a rule and another person breaks that rule it causes frustration and
results in bitterness. Anger completely overtook Marry Warren during Abigail s trial because
Abigail lied about how Elizabeth was using witchcraft. Mary Warren, on her feet with a spring,

was due to human nature. Abigail made up that was a yellow bird and was out to get her. It is

Religious And Civil Life During The 19th Century
One can hardly speak of the Haskalah in Eastern Europe without referencing its relationship to
Hasidism. Beginning in eighteenth century Poland Lithuanian area, the Bal Shem Tov created a
brand of simple and extremely pietistic Judaism appealing most to uneducated working class Jews.
Hasidism viewed Western ideas, language, and even dress as a threat to traditional Jewish society.
In addition, religious and civil life were inseparable, unlike their western coreligionist. These values
brought Haskalah in Eastern Europe into a continuous and often tense struggle with the traditional
Jewish community.
Unlike their Western coreligionist, Eastern European Jewish communities were still quite
traditional by the early 19th century. The Hasidic movement strengthening traditional Jewish life
and filled the leadership gap left by the government abolishment of autonomous communal
structures known as kahals. At the same time, the maskilim were also exerting increasing influence
and leadership among Eastern Jewish communities, and viewed Hasidism as outdated separatist
preventing Jews from modernizing. To this end, maskilim sought to discredit Hasidism particularly
with state authorities. Journals such as Ha Karmel, Razsvet, and Kerem Hemed, carried the clever
satire from maskilim such as Joseph Perl and Isaac Erter s Gilgul Nefesh (Transmigration of the
Soul) portraying Hasidism as backward, and purposefully antagonistic to government efforts
towards Jewish social and political

To begin with the nursery rhyme, Ten Little Indian Boys , that hangs on the wall in each of the
characters rooms creates suspense. Each person dies in a way similar to one of the deaths in
each verse of the rhyme. The nursery rhyme is scary, as it speaks of death, and foreshadows that
the characters on the island may die soon. At first the people on the island laugh and call the
nursery rhyme remarkably childish. (39) However, they soon start fearing it. If one person dies
the same way as in the nursery rhyme, it may just be a coincidence. As more people die similarly
to the nursery rhyme the reader realizes that the deaths are not accidental. In this way, Christie
turns a fun and lighthearted rhyme into a dark and ominous one. This creates a sense of unease
as the reader and the characters begin to wonder who the next person will be to die and how their
death will connect to the rhyme. Additionally, the mysterious disappearances and reappearances
of Philip Lombard s revolver instill feelings of fear. When the revolver is not with Lombard, it
could mean that somebody is hiding the gun and might be planning to use it. see this

The northwest ordinance didn t just makes the 5 states part of the union but it also became the

The troubles they had with this treaty was how divide the land into states. Because the population

The instrument I chose was the Cornu. The reason why I chose this one was because I thought it

Domestic Terrorism Vs International Terrorism Analysis
Terrorism is a violent act that is planned and committed to cause terror in the people while trying
to achieve political goals. In the Prologue Magazine article of John Brown the author states,
Terrorists may hope for political change, but what they often want is to simply strike back at and
harm those they oppose (Finkelman, 2011). Terrorismis something that can happen in any country
because there are people who disagree with another s beliefs or political views. Terrorists usually
target civilians or non military folk because they aren t able to defend themselves against an attack.
They are also not concerned with how much damage they cause; they will use anything from a

On the other hand, there are two things that Ortiz could argue against The Sets. First, the
defendants need to show records of their earnings if they want to make a reasonable argument about
the whole income thing. Since the burden of proof is on them, Ortiz has a better chance of winning
this part of the exemption because the defendant has not offered any calculation of the receipts. See
Jeffrey. Secondly, although the Sets do not count the money earn during the offseason as earnings,
regardless of their personal preference, the income needs to be calculated at the moment they make
the transaction. As clarified in Bridewell, the term receipts does not infer that is up to the
establishment to decide when to recode the money as income, but when they actually receive the
money. Considering that 7 months out the year, the Sets hosts games and promote stadium
advertisements, part of the selling activities and transactions happen during the remaining 5 months
of the year. For both of this major points, Ortiz shows a more reasonable argument.
Whether or not each element is perfectly met in each part of the exemption can be open to
discussion. More

The Audience s Response to Let him have it! and The Daily Mail in Peter Medak s Film
How is the response of the audience manipulated in Peter Medak s film Let him have it! and The
Daily Mail article of November 1952? Do they both show bias?
In November 1952 a policeman was shot dead and another left wounded in what the Daily Mail
called a gun battle when Christopher Craig and Derek Bentley broke into the Barlow and Parker
warehouse in Croydon. I have looked at two media sources of information regarding this event. A
newspaper article taken from the Daily Mail 3rd November 1952 and Peter Medak s film Let him
have it! . Using these sources I intend to illustrate how they manipulate ... Show more content on

What it evolved into wasn t a second battle of Sidney Street as the Daily Mail claims because
Craig was the only one shooting, until a police officer fired three warning shots into the air.
Leaving out bits of information such as how Craig jumped from the building after shooting the
police officer stops people from feeling sorry for the bandits and making up excuses for them like
saying that if he jumped he can t have meant it.
By writing about the gangsters as if they were shooting at everyone and not just to scare the police
away, the media have created an interesting story that people will want to read and find out how the
case progresses and what verdict it will get in court, which is the effect that they would have
anticipated.
The opening paragraph that declares that the London crime wave reached a new peak the night
of 2nd November 1952 is someone s opinion presented as a fact, as is the shootings on the roof
being associated with the Battle of Sidney Street . These are presented as facts so that people
read them as facts and believe them, whatever their own individual opinion is. Opinions will be
argued with because they are just someone s point of view whereas facts are solid, believable piece
of information, which reinforce the importance of a situation.

The Terrorist Attacks Spread Fear And Fed Conspiracy...
On September 11th 2001, the terrorist attacks spread fear and fed conspiracy theorists. On board
United Airlines flight 93, everyone died, for a total of 44 losses ( United Airlines Flight 93 ).
UA93 crashed in a field near Shanksville, in Pennsylvania. Interpretations of the crash differ, as
some believe the government covered up its involvement in the attacks and others support that the
passengers were celebrated as heroes, as they threatened their attackers (McConnachie and Tudge
401). The discussion of two contrasting opinions follows. David Ray Griffin believes UA93 was
shot down by the U.S. Air Force, whereas James B. Meigs defends that the heroic resistance of the
passengers caused the hijackers to pull the aircraft down. They both demonstrate that the nature and
the position of the plane debris at the crash area, as well as the authorities reactions to the hijacking,
confirm their own point of view. Mr. Meigs explanations express more credibility than Mr. Griffin,
due to the compared use of reliable experts to support their claim between the two men and the
sufficient evidences to prove their viewpoint.
First and foremost, David Ray Griffin, a retired professor of philosophy of religion and theology
strongly believes that two military jets chased UA93 and shot it down, fired under the President
Bush order. His first reason provided is that the U.S. authorities being certainly aware of the United
Airlines hijacking, President Bush supposedly ordered the U.S. Air

Turbines of this nature are the ones now being used in power plants around the world. One good
example is California. Their wind power plants displace 4.5 billion pounds of carbon dioxide each
year with the 3 billion kilowatt hours of energy they produce. Although wind power has little
impact on the environment there are environmental concerns surrounding this form of energy
production. Some of the environmental effects of wind power include emissions and their
ecological footprint.
Advantages of wind power
Wind power offers many nonmarket benefits, including:
The average household generates approximately 1.2 to 1.6 kw/h. Wind turbines can generate from
around 600 kw/h, to 4.4 Mw/h. That is equivalent to lighting approximately 10,000 to 100,000 light
bulbs at once.
Decreased dependence on fossil fuels, which are often subject to rapid price fluctuations and supply
problems.
Greatly reduced negative environmental impacts, avoiding the necessity for future environmental
regulation.
Wind power is the second largest source of non conventional source of energy.
In Canada during the mid summer due lack of power generation which is one of the main source
of energy there is desperate need for energy. This can be met to some extent by wind energy as
there are very high winds during this period.
By using photo voltaic, the power generated is dc .So it must be converted to ac to feed it to grid.
But by using wind energy we can directly

Tropical Rainforest Case Study
Reading #1: 1)Rainforests get swallowed by farms in Brazil Description The photographs
compare the same rainforest at different times. One is taken in 1975, the photo appears to be
mostly green. The other taken in 2008 is very different with lots of cleared out light areas where
trees once stood. When compared the photos look as though they could be taken in two different
places because the area has changed so much. Opinion The difference is amazing, the difference
in greenery i imagine means a growth in the population which is why more area is being cleared
out for farmland. The change is not necessarily bad for the environment in term of plant growth,
because the people are after all planting new crops and improving the soil. Although it is bad for
the former habitats for many animals have lost their homes by clearing the trees and small shrubs
in the forest. 2) Cancun expands at stunning rate Description The two pictures compare the city of
Cancun, Mexico at two points in time. The photo on the right which is taken in 1979 shows an
area of green land with several grey settlements and man made building on it. The photo on the
left taken in 2009 shows the same spot but instead of several small plots, one large grey

The Blind Side Essay
There were many characters in this movie that were apart of Michael s life. In the beginning we
saw coach Cotton, he was very judging but he wanted to have Michael play for his team so he
talked the board into letting Michael come to the school. Coach Cotton was very kind for that.
Then we see the family of four, a mom, dad, daughter, and son. The moms name was Leigh.
Leigh was very demanding but she was also very caring and defensive. Sean, the dad wasn t very
much of anything. He kind of just went with his wife wanted to do. Then my favorite, S.J., he
was the closest to Mike, well other than Leigh. S.J. was funny and he was very friendly. He
helped Mike a lot at school and with football. The last one was Collines. Collines was the
daughter. At first I felt that she didn t want anything to do with Michael. She kind of had an
attitude but she was very sweet and she ended up liking Mike. Everyone was very supportive of

Then S.J. helped him with his football. Michael saw that these people could help him and he

The Proclamation Of 1763 After The French And Indian War
Events The Proclamation of 1763 is Britain s way of keeping colonists off the Indians lands. It
was declared after the French and Indian war, on October 7 1763 by King George the third. It s
still a fundamental Native American law even today across America and Canada. French and
Indian war Also known as the Seven Years War started 1757 and ended 1763. The war was
French and Native Americans combined forces against the British, the war lasted seven years.
Later in the war the British turned the tables on the French at Fort Frontenac. The war ended
when the treaty of Paris was signed, as was the revolutionary war. The sugar act also known as
the revenue act was proclaimed in 1764 by parliament. After the first act was to expire this act
was a tax on molasses also. It taxed people six pence per gallon of the imported substance. The
goal of the act was to raise revenue to help pay for military costs. The Stamp Act was proclaimed
in 1765, and it taxed every piece of printed paper. It taxed such goods as dice, playing cards, legal
documents, newspaper and almanacs. The goal of the act was to raise money for the Seven
Years War. The Townshend act was proclaimed in 1767. The colonists viewed it as an abuse of
power after the last acts. The act was eventually repealed but left the tax on tea. Some of the
imported items that it taxed were: glass, lead, paints, paper and tea. The Quartering Act was
proclaimed in 1765. The act allowed the British soldiers to live in colonist s houses. It also
allowed soldiers to eat and drink colonists food. The goal of the act was to keep the uprising of
rebels at a low by catching them when the troops moved in, or by overhearing conversations. The
Boston Massacre, known as the Incident on King Street by the British happened on March 5
1770. A squad of British soldiers were being attacked by a mob. One of the soldiers fired, which
caused others to fire. Over all five died all colonists. The event greatly boosted the revolution.
The Boston Tea Party happened on December 16, 1773. The sons of liberty boarded 3 ships and
dumped tea into the Boston harbor. They did this because of the British oppression. The British
said they would have to pay all the tea off or the harbor will be closed.

Informative Essay On 2pac
Imagine, walking down the streets of Las Vegas, enjoying your evening with your significant
other when suddenly you hear gunshots. A week later, you discover that one of the greatest
rappers of all time has been murdered. Contrary to popular conspiracy theories, Tupac is not
living in Cuba, but was a victim of gang violence. Lesane Parish Crook otherwise known as
Tupac or 2Pac was born on June 16th, 1971. Lesane s mother, Afeni Shakur, was a Black Panther
activist. Still to this day, Tupac s albums including All Eyes On Me are still popular today. Tupac
has an estimated 40 million dollar net worth. On September 7th, 1996 Tupac Shakurand Suge
Knight went to a Mike Tyson fight in Las Vegas. After the fight, Tupac and Knight headed to Club

7, 1996, Tupac, Death Row Records kingpin Marion Suge Knight and Suge s gang of Bloods beat
up a Southside Crip named Orlando Baby Lane Anderson in a Las Vegas casino lobby. This was
all caught on security cameras. I believe that Anderson and three other Crips went looking for
revenge. A few hours after the fight, Anderson and a few gang members were driving around the
Vegas Strip in a white Cadillac. While driving, Anderson spotted Tupac in the passenger seat of
Suge s BMW. Anderson saw an opportunity to collect the bounty, so he shot Tupac from the back
seat of the Cadillac. Anonymous sources were confirmed more than a decade later by the
eyewitness account of Anderson s uncle, Southside Crip boss Duane Keffe D Davis, who says he
was in the car and handed Anderson the murder weapon. After the shooting, police informants
stated that Suge s gang told everyone that Tupac was killed by Anderson. Biggie Smalls put a
bounty on Suge Knight and Tupac Shakur s head, and after Tupac fought Anderson after the Mike
Tyson fight Anderson believed he could kill both of them and collect the bounty. I believe there is

Animal Cloning Debate
Given the recent advancements scientists have made, often debated topics in the field of science
have become a mine of questions for those of the Christian faith. One such field is biotechnology,
which is the use of organisms or biological processes to further improve human life. More
specifically, the topic of cloninganimals and humans. Cloning has often been fervently debated
throughout the years succeeding Dollythe sheep. The image that usually surfaces in the minds of the
public, when discussing cloning, is often horrific, due to the misconstrued imagery that the visual
and print media have filled the public s imaginations with. Over the years, there have been
numerous scholars on both sides of the debate who bring up noteworthy questions... Show more

It can be argued that this debate stems from one of the most controversial, yet successful,
experiments to be created: Dolly the sheep. In Gregory Pence s chapter, From Dolly to Humans?
from his novel, Who s Afraid of Human Cloning?, Dolly is heavily discussed. Pence details that in
Edinburgh, Scotland, on February 24, 1997, Ian Wilmut s successful attempt to clone a lamb took
the world by storm (1). Almost immediately after the experiment was publicized, everyone from
commoners, scientists, and even lawmakers joined in unison to rebuke the idea of the future
cloning of humans. Only days after the announcement of Dolly s existence, according to Pence,
human cloning was entirely banned and thus one of the biggest philosophical questions to emerge
from biology was swiftly dismissed. Why did this experimental delve into the biological cause
such an uproar? In the words of Gregory Pence, emotions can be justified, but they can also stem
from our most primitive, prejudiced reactions (6). The majority of the individuals who objected
cloning experimentation, during the period of Dolly the sheep, barely knew what cloning was or
how it affected the world around them. Today, numerous of those who are against cloning are
typically victims of the fearmongering of visual and print media, which thrive on the imagined

The And Structure Of Family
The definition and structure of family has significantly developed throughout the years, with liberal
perspectives suggesting alternative family arrangements. In 1973, Michael Young and Peter
Willmott conducted studies of family life within the London area and concluded that the
development and changes within the structure of familylife can be sorted into three categories of
time. (Van Krieken et al. 2017, p. 107). The pre industrial family (up until the early 19th century),
the early industrial family (Industrial Revolution early 20th century) and the symmetrical family
(20th century onwards). Sociological perspectives such as Marxism, functionalism and feminism all

The Industrial Revolution completely transformed family life. In the 1970s, female social
scientists, such as Meg Luxton, began to explore different concepts of family life. (Fox 2015, p.
205). Luton s 1980 book More Than a Labour of Love examines the gender inequalities women
faced where men earned wages and women were expected to act as full time unpaid domestic
workers within the home. Therefore, as a byproduct of this Revolution, women became increasingly
independent and career motivated. (Volarevic 2012, p. 223). Consequently, women were becoming
less domestically oriented, and as a result, were disrupting the family structure. However, this
caused major controversy, as many functionalists were dissatisfied with this change. When
exploring the functionalist perspective, many analysts view the work of Talcott Parsons. Parsons
argues that society establishes several institutions in which reflect a shared valued system. (Grimes
1988, p. 183). He claims that each institution conduct functional tasks in order to sustain social
order. Therefore, when change was brought about, many perceived moral chaos. Feminist
sociologists combatted this argument by declaring that the ideology of the traditional family
structure was of disadvantage to women. (Hare Mustin 1978, p. 1). They argued that functionalists
overlook the inequalities women face in

The Reduction Of 4 Tert ¬ -butylcyclohaxanone
In this experiment, the reduction of 4 tert¬ butylcyclohaxanone was performed using sodium
borohydride. To complete this reduction, 0.5010 g of 4 tert¬ butylcyclohaxanone was added to
6.0 mL of methanol and heated until the ketone dissolved completely. Next, 0.0510 g of sodium
borohydride was added to the solution. At this time, bubbles formed and an exothermic reaction
took place. After the solution was stirred for 20 minutes, 2 mL of sulfuric acid was added to the
flask. The solution became white and cloudy, and more bubbles formed. Immediately after the acid
was added, 5 mL of water was also put into the reaction flask. The solution was stirred for 10
minutes. During this time, a white solid formed. After this, the solution was... Show more content on

This was calculated by taking the mass of 4 tert¬ butylcyclohaxanol, dividing it by the theoretical
yield determined by mass of the limiting reagent, 4 tert¬ butylcyclohaxanone, and multiplying
by 100. This percent yield is respectable, but a higher one could have been obtained. A source of
error resulting in a lower percent yield was the filtering to remove the magnesium sulfate out of
the dried organic solution. When filtering, some of the liquid was absorbed into the filter paper,
prohibiting some of the product from being recovered. To prevent this loss, one should use a
pipet to recover the product from the magnesium sulfate. The product that was recovered during
this experiment, was spectroscopically analyzed, and a ratio of cis trans product was found. IR
and 1H NMR analysis was also performed for the starting ketone, 4 tert¬ butylcyclohaxanone.
The IR spectra, RM 07 Oi, contained peaks at 2947 cm 1, 2868 cm 1, 1720 cm 1, and 1365 cm 1.
These peaks represent a carbon hydrogen stretch, a sp3 hybridized carbon, a ketone and a ring
carbon carbon stretch, which are all present in 4 tert¬ butylcyclohaxanone. This confirms that the
initial ketone used was 4 tert¬ butylcyclohaxanone. The 1H NMR also proves this. Peaks found
at 2.34 ppm, 2.07 ppm, 1.45 ppm and 0.87 ppm show that only four chemical shifts occur in this
compound. There are not four types of hydrogens in this molecule, but some chemical environments
are similar resulting in only four

three main ways of feeding your guinea pig and using the one that is right for your pet can make
all the difference in having a healthy life for your guinea pig. The first main way of feeding
your guinea pig is fresh vegetables, fresh vegetables should make up most of your pets diet, but
be careful about leafy vegetables as too many of these can cause upset a stomach. Veggies that

enclosed space, but make sure you are closely watching. You can set up a pen in a room preferably
an area with easy to clean floors in case of accidents, or outside if it isn t too hot or cold. Make sure
to have plenty of space in their exercise area so that they can run and play. Make sure to put a

Characteristics Of The Progressive Movement
Progressive Movement Policies and Leaders
The Progressive Movement was an effort to fix many of the ills of America that had developed
during the industrial growth in the late 19th century, by widespread social activism and political
reform. I am going to be talking about many of the progressive policies and ideals as well as
leaders of the movement and their impact on American society.
The Square Deal created by Theodore Roosevelt to help the working class and deplete the power
of the corporations and big business. It s 3 basic goals were to conserve natural resources, control
corporations and protect the consumer. He also formed the Department of Commerce and Labor to
help out the workers. Establishing National Parks was a must for Theodore Roosevelt because he
felt nature existed to help us.
The Interstate Commerce Act is a law passed to regulate the railroad industry s monopolistic
practices. It required that railroad rates be reasonable and just for everyone but it did not let
government set specific rates.
The Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890 was the first federal law that banned monopolies and unfair
business practices. It limited cartels and big business from monopolistic practices and was designed
to promote fair competition to benefit the consumers.
The Pure Food and Drug Act of 1906 was passed to make sure food, drugs, medicines, alcohol and

  • 2. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Two Spains What exactly does Las Dos EspaГ±as refer to? Las Dos EspaГ±as or the two Spains refers to the long term hostility existing in Spain between the conservative and liberal political parties in Spain. The conservative party is the more close minded Spaniards while the liberal party is more open minded Spaniards. Spainis split roughly 50:50 between the two parties. The split is one of the most critical aspects in the Spanish history. If one does not know about the Two Spains, one does not know the full history of Spain. One of the main strengths is when both groups agree on the same ideas. But periodically the Two Spains lose their patience and begin to challenge each other. The phrase Two Spains originated in a short poem written by a Spanish poet Antonio Machado.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Romans were in Spain for six hundred years, which dates back to 205 BC to 410 AD. Fernando and Isabel then continued with the Conservative Party in 1492. The inquisition of Jews was established in 1480 but the expulsion of Jews did not occur until Fernando and Isabel s reign over Spain. Under the reign of Fernando and Isabel, all Jews were ordered to leave Spain; they were allowed to dispose of their property but were not able to take any silver or gold out of the country. The Conservative Party was a strictly Catholic party thus the expulsion of the Jews proves that religion was used as a weapon during that time. The Conservatives appointed a strong central authority someone who would be a voice of the party. The Conservative party made every effort to unite Spain through politics, and religion but the opposing party did not ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Theory Of The Mathematics Teacher While the rule taught youth is at sea when beyond his rules, the youth instructed in principles solves a new case as readily as an old one . (Spencer, 1878, p.57) What you see and what you hear depends a great deal on where you are standing. It also depends on what sort of person you are . (Lewis, 1994, p.108) The mathematics teacher builds examples into their arsenal of resources to help demonstrate the mathematical principles they are trying to teach (Dreyfus, 1994). However, not all examples are equally constructed and provide the same learning experience to the learner. Spencer (1978) believes that learners who know principles are more prepared than rule focussed learners to tackle problems. This is the same within mathematics, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The methodology will describe how the study will be conducted and why. Observations will be recorded on the process of constructing examples and how they are employed in the classroom. Percentage examples will be constructed and these will be used in the teaching of percentages to a Year 7 class. Further observations will be made on how the learners approach and conduct the examples. Analysis of the response to these examples will be made where recommendations will be offered to improve my application as a mathematics teacher. It is intended that this investigation and use of Variation Theory will improve my understanding of the construction of examples and thus improve the learners experience. BACKGROUND The study was conducted in a Leicestershire high school that accepts learners from year 7 to 9. Year 7s enter directly from several feeder primary schools and generally leave to join a single upper school where they sit GCSEs. Although it does not take the learners through formal exams, the school s primary focus is on the preparation to attain qualifications. This means its Scheme of Work (SOW) is fixed to meeting the National Curriculum (NC). The class studied is a year 7 mixed ability mathematics class. This consisted of 32 learners with a boy to girl ratio of 2:1. There are several behavioural issues regards some learners disrupting the class and, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Essay On Nanoswimmers Wirelessly controlled nanoscale robots can be used for in vitro and in vivo biochemical application and are usually based on (or mimic) the rotary motion of helical bacterial flagella for propulsion. However, researchers still have not been able to create a man made nanohelix that has the ability to change its geometry in response to multiple environmental factor. In other words, it cannot adapt. Thus, a team of researchers led by Kim, examine the bacterial flagella and how they change their helical form in response to environmental stimuli by studying three flagellar forms. The team of researches were able to show that the ability to steer the devices and induce flagellar bundling in multi flagellated nanoswimmers. Furthermore, they were... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The normal run tumble behavior observed in swimming chemotaxis was mainly suppressed and the cells were continuously reoriented by random jostling by their neighbors which randomized their directions in a few tenths of a second. On the other hand, at the edge of the swarm, cells usually paused and then swam back toward the center of the swarm or along its edge. Hence, the properties of the interior of the monolayer was different than the properties of its outer edge. Thus, the local alignment among cells was accomplished by cell body collision and short range hydrodynamic interactions. While there s a fairly good understanding of how bacteria regulate, assemble and rotate their flagella to swim in liquid media, little is still known about how some bacteria is able to use their flagella in order to move over the tops of solids otherwise known as swarming. Thus, Kearns studied what is needed in swarming motility in diverse bacterial model systems such as an increase in the number of flagella per cell, secretion of a surfactant to reduce surface tension for spreading and movement in multicellular groups. Therefore, Kearns was able to determine that swarming motility generally requires an energy rich, solid medium, however, the specific conditions that support swarming depends on the organism in question. Swarming was enhanced by high growth rates that may account for ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Daniel Castro s Examination of Las Casas Work Daniel Castro examines the work of Las Casas. He discusses the humanitarian element Las Casas is known for but mainly highlights the rarely exposed ambivalent political and economic imperialistic motives behind his humanitarianism and his will to convert the Indigenous people. Castro focuses on the apostle and destructor dichotomy of Las Casas. Castro states that while Las Casas was fighting to defend indigenous rights, he was also actively and willingly participated in aiding Spanish s destruction of the natives; Las Casas s work with and for the Indians is more paternalistic than paternal, more sympathetic than empathetic . Castro emphasizes the Dominican s actions as justification and aid to achieving the possession of the new land and their resources. He discredits the idea of Las Casas being an apostle by counter arguing that an apostle is an individual who performs active person to person evangelizing to convert unbelievers to his/hers own faith, and proclaims that Las Casas rarely had direct contact with the indigenous people (pp. 3). The issues addressed by Castro are very important because he is the first to emphasize the role the Dominican Bartolome de Las Casas not only as a reformer but as an active agent of Spanish imperialism who contributed to the subjugation of the Ameridians under more paternalistic and benevolent conditions than his contemporaries (pp. 184). This is a side to the work of Las Casas that is rarely highlighted, therefore it is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Next steps cannot be planned as it may be a huge step for the child if they have not yet achieved the previous step Avoiding bias . Sometimes it can be useful for a second person to assess a child as observations can be very subjective. It is also useful to use a wide variety of methods of assessment. Things need to be recorded according to what is exactly happening and should not be interpreted according to the assessors point of view. 1.3 Explain the selection of the assessment methods used (See 1.2 below) Method Explanation Assessment Framework/s Assessment frameworks are the way in which a child is assessed to see whether they have any particular needs, what they are and how we can help them be met. It is useful in deciding whether a child has reached expected milestones. Assessment frameworks may be summative or formative. Formative assessments are used to check progress and helps us to consider learning opportunities needed to progress. The ongoing observations we do of children are formative assessments. They inform the next steps of the childs learning. Summative assessment provides staff with information about the attainment of knowledge and is usually measured against a benchmark or standard. • 7. The Concept Of Heritage In Everyday Use By Alice Walker Heritage: it is something that everyone possesses, whether they like it or not. It is not something that people can choose, and it is not something people can change. Every family has their own unique heritage, each celebrating it in a slightly different way. In brief, heritage is the celebration of one s familyand culture through family holidays, feasts, festivals, and traditions. Heritage is something that people innately celebrate, it does not require much effort to celebrate it. However, some people make it something not innate by using their heritage as an ostentatious display. The concept of celebrating heritage innately or ostentatiously is explored through the characters Maggie, Mama, and Dee in the short storyEveryday Use by Alice Walker. Powerful Women In Shakespeare s Othello In Othello, Shakespeare introduces us to many strong male figures such as Othello, Michael Cassio, Roderigo and Iago, but Shakespeare also created powerful women in this play as well. In fact, the women in the play tend to take front and centering in a lot of scene, stealing moments. The moments in particular would be the scenes towards the end of the play with Desdemona and Emili talking about a wife s loyalty to her husbandand how should she respond to him. Their beliefs in the play are put into action in the final Act, and even though they both have completely different views on relationships, they both follow their convictions. • 9. The Importance Of Censorship In Music Censorship is a broad topic that can lead to chaos and misunderstanding if not clearly conveyed for what it is. For example, rock music, the first major threat to traditional thinking caused a divide between generations because of how different and explicit it became in the mid 1900s. It s no surprise there were people ready to combat rock music. However, what is surprising is the fact that so much happened with so little change in the music around us. Censorship if anything only helped intensify the differences between society. Controversy and censorship in music was around long before the rock music. In fact, a genre called the blues consistently dealt with the imposed censorship on their recordings (McDonald, 1988, pp.295 296). Also race spiked the urge to censor rock and roll even further. With some of the leading people such as Chuck Berry and Little Richard being people of color it was no surprise that there was outrage over their music. Where things get even more traumatic is when the Ku Klux Klan (KKK) who was a radical racist group told the public not to buy Negro records because they were poisoning the youth. This depicts the fact that racism was a heavy combatant against any form of rock and roll. Race played its part in many forms of music (jazz, blues, etc.), but rock music was seen as a major starting point for censorship since it caused such a major divide between the youth and adults (McDonald, 1988, p.297). • 11. The And Gold Tour Bus From Louisiana State University On Losing Everything This past week I saw that purple and gold tour bus from Louisiana State University in my town, not only surprising me but also forcing me to think back on my childhood in the south. Growing up in southern Louisiana one must be prepared for major storms and flooding at less than a day s notice. Hurricanes are powerful storms that can ravish towns and can be deadly for people and animals alike. Hurricane Katrina tore through the Gulf Coast in August of 2005, and I was in the midst of that wreckage. My family and I were living in a small, close knit community, named St. Amant, about an hour west of New Orleans. On the third day of the hurricane, my family experienced a loss greater than we could have ever imagined. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In no way do I mean to trivialize the severe and deadly effects hurricanes can potentially bring, but not all hurricanes are the same. Most storms that would make it to the area I used to live usually lost strength by the time it got to us. For the weaker storms, the kids would get a mini vacation from school, and the parents got a much needed break from work. At the time, I thought everyone in Louisiana and especially New Orleans were not ready for what was coming. Louisiana is a laid back state, due to its French roots. The catch phrase for the state was always Laissez Les Bon Temps rouler, or Let the good times roll! So, it s easy to see why the media portrayed Louisianan s as not caring about the tropical storm that was headed our way. We did care, we were just expecting much less than what we received. I think a good way to describe this is that people from California have been through many earthquakes and are prepared for them, but would you stop living your life for a small earthquake that might not happen? Probably not. My family tried to be as prepared as we possibly could, but there is only so much money to go around buying things for situations that might not even happen. My dad purchased our first gasoline generator earlier that year which sadly put a dent into our emergency savings. Nevertheless, we had enough supplies, water, and food to last about a week if necessary. From my memories, about a week ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 13. Impact Of Executive Orders On Society Presidential Executive Orders and The Social Impact on American Society American Presidents are constrained in the power they can wield because of the separation of powers between the branches of government. Presidents use executive orders to compensate for their limited power. Presidents have also taken unilateral action to address the needs and concerns of important political constituencies before Congress is ready to act. (Gitterman 2017) Executive orders assume three forms: 1) self executing, orders that are dependent on government agencies implementing the order, 2) Altering institutional structures and processes, and 3) Symbolic arguing tools. (Mayer 2001) Presidents also gain more control through unilateralism and collection action because the president s order is also considered a command; when this command is given to the executive branch, it conforms to the president s will. • 18. An Analysis Of Amy Tan s Short Story Two Kinds The Ungrateful Underachiever The definition of an underachiever as stated by Webster is one (such as a student) that fails to attain a predicted level of achievement or does not do as well as expected. In the short story Two Kinds written by Amy Tan, Ni Kan is the queen of underachievers. She determines at a young age to become defiant to her mom. After experiencing disappointment from letting her mom down, Ni Kan determined that she would become an underachiever and intentionally failed throughout her life. What makes a child determine at such a young age to defy her mom on every hand for the rest of their life? The sad realization that Ni Kan would rather see her mother angry at her than disappointed in her became her revelation. Anger meant that she was in control and not her mom. And then I saw what seemed to be the prodigy side of me a face I had never seen before. I looked at my reflection, blinking so that I could see more clearly. The girlstaring back at me was angry, powerful. She and I were the same. I had new thoughts, willful thoughts or rather, thoughts filled with lots of won ts. I won t let her change me, I promised myself. I won t be what I m not. (2) This shows the beginning of when Ni Kan realized she was not ever going to become a child prodigy for her mom. During the same week when I read the Amy Tan story, I was in the midst of a conflict with my own mother. I was trying to decide where to attend graduate school after ... Movie V For Vendetta Directed By James Mcteigue Megan Skolmen 14/05/15 Film V for Vendetta Director: James McTeigue Release Date: February 2006 I watched a film called V for Vendetta directed by James McTeigue. Briefly, this film is about a mysterious masked man whom we know as V , who is on a quest for revenge for himself and others considered undesirables by the fascist dictatorship government. The film is based in 2038 England, and deals with a corrupted society in which a fascist regime is set in place to seize complete control the citizens through fear, manipulation, and terror. In this dystopian world, the government is your worst enemy and your human rights are immensely violated. Up until our protagonist, V, steps up, the people of England make no attempt to fight for their freedom but instead just do what is expected. Overall, V for Vendetta is a film in which I quite thoroughly enjoyed and is one that I find to be rather important to watch, but difficult to explain as it is kind of cryptic and hard at times to understand the context. V for Vendetta is greatly thought provoking and deals with concerns that aren t all that hard to imagine. Although the movie is difficult to follow at points this could be simply due to my lack of inquisitive, not a fault of the film it is definitely one to pay attention to. I have to admit, the film is not what I imagined, yet I was pleasantly surprised and intrigued. It starts as your typical hero vs. villain film, but turns deeply political very quickly. A ... This is precisely the reason why lawyers exist. The law is very complex, so rather than forcing someone to go to law school for ten years, we have them hire lawyers to help them with the law. Beginning in eighteenth century Poland Lithuanian area, the Bal Shem Tov created a brand of simple and extremely pietistic Judaism appealing most to uneducated working class Jews. Hasidism viewed Western ideas, language, and even dress as a threat to traditional Jewish society. In addition, religious and civil life were inseparable, unlike their western coreligionist. These values brought Haskalah in Eastern Europe into a continuous and often tense struggle with the traditional Jewish community. Unlike their Western coreligionist, Eastern European Jewish communities were still quite traditional by the early 19th century. The Hasidic movement strengthening traditional Jewish life and filled the leadership gap left by the government abolishment of autonomous communal structures known as kahals. At the same time, the maskilim were also exerting increasing influence and leadership among Eastern Jewish communities, and viewed Hasidism as outdated separatist preventing Jews from modernizing. So slave that got released or free could go to any of those 5 states and live a normal life. Some people would take the slaves papers and rip them up and send them back to the slave states to make money. So that made it hard for the slaves to live a new normal life. The troubles they had with this treaty was how divide the land into states. Because the population had to reach 60,000 to become a statehood. But once that happened they divided the land north of the ohio river into 5 states. When I first heard it, I thought it sounded like a very bad french horn, but when it s played by someone who actually knows how to play it very well it sounds like a brassy, harsh but clear, horn sound. Although in Bridewell they talk about 120 year round employees, the amount of workers in the Gorges is still substantially significant for the minor leagueteam operation since they do stadium maintenance, accounting, publicity, and other administrative task. It could be argued, as mentioned on another case, that a truly seasonal business which provides year round work for an insignificant number of employees could qualify for the 29 U.S.C S 213 (a)(3) exemption; however, a business that has 120 employees working year round can be presumed they operate year round. The Sets could argue for part (B) that they pass this test because they count their money once the season starts which leaves them with less than 1/3 of their earnings for the off season. See ..... On the other hand, there are two things that Ortiz could argue against The Sets. First, the defendants need to show records of their earnings if they want to make a reasonable argument about the whole income thing. Since the burden of proof is on them, Ortiz has a better chance of winning this part of the exemption because the defendant has not offered any calculation of the receipts. See Jeffrey. Secondly, although the Sets do not count the money earn during the offseason as earnings, regardless of their personal preference, the income needs to be calculated at the moment they make the transaction. As clarified in Bridewell, the term receipts does not infer that is up to the establishment to decide when to recode the money as income, but when they actually receive the money. Considering that 7 months out the year, the Sets hosts games and promote stadium advertisements, part of the selling activities and transactions happen during the remaining 5 months of the year. For both of this major points, Ortiz shows a more reasonable argument. Whether or not each element is perfectly met in each part of the exemption can be open to discussion. More ... On board United Airlines flight 93, everyone died, for a total of 44 losses ( United Airlines Flight 93 ). UA93 crashed in a field near Shanksville, in Pennsylvania. Interpretations of the crash differ, as some believe the government covered up its involvement in the attacks and others support that the passengers were celebrated as heroes, as they threatened their attackers (McConnachie and Tudge 401). The discussion of two contrasting opinions follows. David Ray Griffin believes UA93 was shot down by the U.S. Air Force, whereas James B. Meigs defends that the heroic resistance of the passengers caused the hijackers to pull the aircraft down. They both demonstrate that the nature and the position of the plane debris at the crash area, as well as the authorities reactions to the hijacking, confirm their own point of view. Mr. Meigs explanations express more credibility than Mr. Griffin, due to the compared use of reliable experts to support their claim between the two men and the sufficient evidences to prove their viewpoint. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Turbines of this nature are the ones now being used in power plants around the world. One good example is California. Their wind power plants displace 4.5 billion pounds of carbon dioxide each year with the 3 billion kilowatt hours of energy they produce. Although wind power has little impact on the environment there are environmental concerns surrounding this form of energy production. Some of the environmental effects of wind power include emissions and their ecological footprint. Advantages of wind power Wind power offers many nonmarket benefits, including: The average household generates approximately 1.2 to 1.6 kw/h. Wind turbines can generate from around 600 kw/h, to 4.4 Mw/h. That is equivalent to lighting approximately 10,000 to 100,000 light bulbs at once. Decreased dependence on fossil fuels, which are often subject to rapid price fluctuations and supply problems. Greatly reduced negative environmental impacts, avoiding the necessity for future environmental regulation. Wind power is the second largest source of non conventional source of energy. In Canada during the mid summer due lack of power generation which is one of the main source of energy there is desperate need for energy. It was declared after the French and Indian war, on October 7 1763 by King George the third. It s still a fundamental Native American law even today across America and Canada. French and Indian war Also known as the Seven Years War started 1757 and ended 1763. The war was French and Native Americans combined forces against the British, the war lasted seven years. Later in the war the British turned the tables on the French at Fort Frontenac. The war ended when the treaty of Paris was signed, as was the revolutionary war. The sugar act also known as the revenue act was proclaimed in 1764 by parliament. After the first act was to expire this act was a tax on molasses also. It taxed people six pence per gallon of the imported substance. The goal of the act was to raise revenue to help pay for military costs. The Stamp Act was proclaimed in 1765, and it taxed every piece of printed paper. It taxed such goods as dice, playing cards, legal documents, newspaper and almanacs. The goal of the act was to raise money for the Seven Years War. The Townshend act was proclaimed in 1767. The colonists viewed it as an abuse of power after the last acts. The act was eventually repealed but left the tax on tea. Some of the imported items that it taxed were: glass, lead, paints, paper and tea. The Quartering Act was proclaimed in 1765. The act allowed the British soldiers to live in colonist s houses. It also allowed soldiers to eat and drink colonists food. The goal of the act was to keep the uprising of rebels at a low by catching them when the troops moved in, or by overhearing conversations. The Boston Massacre, known as the Incident on King Street by the British happened on March 5 1770. A squad of British soldiers were being attacked by a mob. One of the soldiers fired, which caused others to fire. Over all five died all colonists. The event greatly boosted the revolution. The Boston Tea Party happened on December 16, 1773. Therefore, as a byproduct of this Revolution, women became increasingly independent and career motivated. (Volarevic 2012, p. 223). Consequently, women were becoming less domestically oriented, and as a result, were disrupting the family structure. However, this caused major controversy, as many functionalists were dissatisfied with this change. When exploring the functionalist perspective, many analysts view the work of Talcott Parsons. Parsons argues that society establishes several institutions in which reflect a shared valued system. (Grimes 1988, p. 183). He claims that each institution conduct functional tasks in order to sustain social order. Therefore, when change was brought about, many perceived moral chaos. This was calculated by taking the mass of 4 tertВ¬ butylcyclohaxanol, dividing it by the theoretical yield determined by mass of the limiting reagent, 4 tertВ¬ butylcyclohaxanone, and multiplying by 100. This percent yield is respectable, but a higher one could have been obtained. A source of error resulting in a lower percent yield was the filtering to remove the magnesium sulfate out of the dried organic solution. When filtering, some of the liquid was absorbed into the filter paper, prohibiting some of the product from being recovered. To prevent this loss, one should use a pipet to recover the product from the magnesium sulfate. The product that was recovered during this experiment, was spectroscopically analyzed, and a ratio of cis trans product was found. IR and 1H NMR analysis was also performed for the starting ketone, 4 tertВ¬ butylcyclohaxanone. The IR spectra, RM 07 Oi, contained peaks at 2947 cm 1, 2868 cm 1, 1720 cm 1, and 1365 cm 1. These peaks represent a carbon hydrogen stretch, a sp3 hybridized carbon, a ketone and a ring carbon carbon stretch, which are all present in 4 tertВ¬ butylcyclohaxanone. This confirms that the initial ketone used was 4 tertВ¬ butylcyclohaxanone. The 1H NMR also proves this. Peaks found at 2.34 ppm, 2.07 ppm, 1.45 ppm and 0.87 ppm show that only four chemical shifts occur in this compound. There are not four types of hydrogens in this molecule, but some chemical environments are similar resulting in only four ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Square Deal created by Theodore Roosevelt to help the working class and deplete the power of the corporations and big business. It s 3 basic goals were to conserve natural resources, control corporations and protect the consumer. He also formed the Department of Commerce and Labor to help out the workers. Establishing National Parks was a must for Theodore Roosevelt because he felt nature existed to help us. The Interstate Commerce Act is a law passed to regulate the railroad industry s monopolistic practices. It required that railroad rates be reasonable and just for everyone but it did not let government set specific rates. The Sherman Antitrust Act of 1890 was the first federal law that banned monopolies and unfair business practices. It limited cartels and big business from monopolistic practices and was designed to promote fair competition to benefit the consumers.
