Spirited Away Analysis
In Hayao Miyazaki s breathtaking film, Spirited Away we are introduced to 10 year old Chihiro and
her parents who stumble upon a seemingly abandoned amusement park. After her mother and father
turn into giant pigs, Chihiro meets the mysterious Haku, who explains the park is a resort for the
supernatural beings who need a break from the earthly realm, and that she must work there to free
herself and her parents. Our young protagonist is shown to be a childish, easily scared, and whiny girl.
But after her experiences at the bathhouse and the Spirit World, she will mature into a capable adult.
Chihiro s growth into a capable individual is a core factor to the movement of Spirited Away s plot.
Spirited Away begins with a quick paced car ride in which we meet the young protagonist, Chihiro. A
melancholy child whom ironically holds a bouquet of bright flowers to her chest, which we learn was
a farewell gift from her friend on Chihiro s moving day. Chihiro and her parents stumble upon a
ominous tunnel as they search for their new home. The tunnel lures Chihiro s parents inside, causing
the young child to quickly rush and cling to her mother in fear of being alone, like any child would.
Upon entering the Spirit World, they stumble upon a festive amusement park that has seemingly just
been abandoned. During this scene Chihiro s parents morph into gluttonous pigs, consumed by their
own greed and hunger upon eating offerings that were meant for the spirits. Young Chihiro now left

The Effects Of Lawyering In The 1930s
Lawyering was dangerous during the 1930s. As I mentioned earlier, it was rare to find black lawyers
during that time, especially in the South, as they were seen as threats to the social order. It was also
unlikely that a judge would appoint a black lawyer to defend a black man in a rape trial as black
lawyers risked physical injury or even death by doing so. They were run out of towns and physically
assaulted if they represented black men accused of any crime by white people. The situation was
similar for white lawyers. As Banks says, In real life, the few local white lawyers who represented
black clients often suffered economic loss as well as social isolation. Merely speaking out for equal
justice was fraught with danger . However, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the rape of black women was common during that time, the legal system and history about
that time period denied the fact that black women were subjected to sexual assault. The most troubling
fact, though, is that black women were much more vulnerable to rape than white women were. White
mobs used the rape of black women as a way to terrorize black people and black women were exposed
to sexual aggression from their employers as they worked outside their homes in contrast to white
women who worked inside their homes. Despite all of these facts, it was highly unlikely for a black
victim s case to go to trial and even if it did, the defendants were mostly protected by prejudices
against black women. Even the special doctrinal rules applied to black defendants were not applied
when victims were black women. As Wriggins says, By using disparate procedures, the court
implicitly makes two assertions. First, Black men do not want to rape Black women with the same
intensity or regularity that Black men want to rape white women. Second, Black women do not
experience coerced sex in the sense that white women experience

My Senior Art Therapy Capstone Class
My senior art therapy capstone class gave me the tools not only to understand my personal art making
process, but the benefits of artistic creation for other individuals as well. Through this final project, I
was able to therapeutically process a traumatic event in my life and turn something negative into a
positive light. Process based art therapy highlights the educational and transformative properties of art
making and natural creation. My personal style is continuously evolving, but it is often based in
collage work or drawing figures with pencil on paper. My artistic style highlights a sense of control
and desire to work with traditional mediums. I ve always worked with pencil and paper or collage
because of the ease of access to materials. There were always pencils and printer paper or empty
journals for me to draw in no matter where I was. Additionally, I loved to draw people and create my
own characters. I draw people because it brings an emotional aspect to my art that makes the drawing
seem less static. When drawing different faces, I can create depth and feeling into their eyes that
makes the 2 dimensional character seem real. One artist who has always inspired my style is Alphonse
Mucha. Mucha s decorative art featured a variety of women with flowing hair and long billowing
dresses. The women in his pieces commanded a sense of power with their brightly colored
backgrounds and all knowing faces (1). I d never seen art that depicted women in such a way, not

I disagree quite a bit with this because with enough force and planning you can prevent pretty much
anything from happening including an armed uprising as is used in this book. An example force being
used to prevent a situation like the one in the book is the U.S civil war which altho it took a little while
was eventually ended unconditionally do to the superior force of the Union army. but in this book
there is only five people who are even a quarter as strong as the Olympians, who at the end of the
book proceeds to try to charge the most powerful people on the planet, which somehow works when
really they should have been immediately destroyed by any of the 11 super powerful people or the
menagerie of mutated animals that protect them. Another example of something being dealt with
through enough force is the burning oil fields in kuwait which were put out by literally flooding the

Reflection On The Requirements For Acceptance At UCF
About five years ago, when my grandmother was hospitalized, I had the opportunity of meeting some
amazing nurses, who inspired me in pursuing a nursing career. When I started at Valencia College in
the fall of 2011, my intention was to finish my Associate Degree at Valencia College and later finish
my Bachelors of Science in Nursing at the University of Central Florida (UCF). I then found out about
the Valencia/UCF concurrent nursing program and decided to apply. One of the requirements for
acceptance in this program, was to have a completed associate degree in order to be accepted at UCF. I
was accepted at the program in April 2014 and have been completing all the courses successfully since
then. The program is very challenging, and due to

Voltaire s Theory Of Optimism
Candide, published in 1759 by Voltaire, is a satirical novella criticizing the type of European
Civilization Voltaire grew up around. Voltaire is known for his literary works mocking the time period
he lived in, especially when it came to their religious beliefs and the aristocracy he was surrounded
with. Due to Voltaire s experiences in Paris with European Society, Candide showcases his contempt
for organized religion, noble rank, and optimist philosophy.
Candide, the illegitimate son of a Baron s sister, lives in the Baron s castle, studying under the
philosopher Pangloss. Pangloss teaches Candide his theory of optimism, keeping Candide innocent to
the world beyond the castle. He thinks that the castle is the best castle there is, and that everything
happens for a good reason, a belief that Pangloss has instilled in him. Cunégonde, the Baron s
daughter, has caught the eye of Candide, and when they are found in a compromising romantic
position, he is tossed out of the Castle. From there, Candide sets out on many adventures, most having
unfortunate ends, giving Candide a taste of the reality he never got from castle life and studying under
Pangloss. He first enlists as a soldier, but is soon flogged for being a deserter. He escapes to Holland
where he is taken in by a kind Anabaptist, and discovers Pangloss as a deformed beggar who has
contracted syphilis. As optimistic as ever, Pangloss informs Candide that the baron and his family,
including Cunégonde have been murdered

The Importance Of Financial Support For Curriculum...
Financial Support for Curriculum Development
Money is what makes the world go around, or so that is what we are taught. There are many factors of
curriculum design that focus around the community, whether it is demographics or needs; these are
taken into consideration when determining a new nursing program. Then there are financial
obligations of the institution and program that influence the development and the maintenance of a
curriculum. In this paper the discussion will be based on the financial aspect of nursing programs.
Discussion
Financial support for curriculum development is an important undertaking while designing the
program. Keating discusses that there are financial factors such as making sure that the program is
realistic, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This may include hospital chairman, public health officials, as well as stakeholders in the program
itself. By utilizing a committee of people with different backgrounds, the program will have an
approach that would be innovative in structure as well as funding.
In addition, Keating noted that a major resource for program development is at the federal level
through Health Resources and Services Administration, Division of Nursing (2015, p. 174). Keating
also discussed that there are mnay private foundations that allocate funds for nursing programs; these
include the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (2015). These
funds both public and private are important in funding nursing programs. Lastly, partnerships are seen
as a way to link health care education with health care agencies. In an article for Colorado Nurse, it
was noted that a program in Colorado explored a program design that partnered with a local hospital
to complete the necessary components to a BSN degree, with a savings of thirty five percent on tuition
(2016). So understanding where the monies are allocated is huge to maintaining a successful
curriculum and program. Keating also discussed that partnerships could assist program funding,
provide work study programs, and even allow students to earn academic credits (2015).
Nursing faculty plays an important role in funding for the program. Administrators and faculty staff
alike have roles that

Importance Of Rental Heaters
Renting Portable Heaters to events and parties Event supply companies that rent supplies and
furnishing for all kinds of outdoor events. The bulk of the business from these companies usually
comes from renting out tables, chairs, linens and other common items needed for an outdoor event or
gathering. But portable outdoor heater rentals can also be a great way to increase your margins for
each event. Most people probably won t realize that they might need heaters for their events, parties,
or weddings that are held at night and/or in the winter months. So it s important to showcase your
rental heaters on your website, or at some point during the sales process. Even a few degrees of

The powder coat is strong and protects the heater from the elements. So cleaning it is an easy and
straight forward task. Removing soot from burning, pilot, and surrounding area: While these infrared
heaters are very effective at burning their fuel, leaving only trace build up of soot inside the emitter
panel. You should only use compressed air to remove the soot, and you should remove the emitter
panel for maximum exposure. If you don t have access to an air compressor, cans of computer dusters
will work as well. You should never use water or any cleaning solution to clean the emitter grid. These
outdoor heaters are such efficient burners, that soot builds up very slowly. So removing soot buildup is
only needed once or twice a year. At minimum, it should be done before the start of each cold season.
Checking your Gas line for gas leaks. The importance of this safety precaution can t be stressed
enough, especially if you rent your heater out extensively. Regularly checking for gas leaks is the only
surefire way to prevent injuries or health issues. Start with a visual inspection of your propane tank,
gas line, and connectors; look for dents or cracks on the tank, and any tears or holes in the gas line.
Gas tubes can become brittle over time and develop small micro tears that can potentially leak gas.
The connectors between the gas tube and the

Mental and Emotional Development
Write an essay of approx 1,000 words about your understanding of the older child.
Include detail of mental and emotional Development.
Going to school marks a new horizon of a child s life at a time when he/she thinks they are ready for
the greater challenges. Children are curious about the use of letters and words to convey meaning, and
have the manual dexterity to hold a pen or pencil and begin to write.
Together reading and writing broadens the child s experience enabling him/her to learn more about the
world he/she lives in. Their mental ability allows him/her to understand the symbols of letters and
numbers and by manipulating these new experiences develop.

It is important for those caring for children that they are aware of the attitudes of others and offer
opportunities to the child to talk about this.
Praise means a lot to a child of this age as it would to a lot of other people. Efforts should be made to
recognise each child s special attributes.
Summary of Major Developments:
For 5 to 11 year olds: 1. Decreasing dependence on family and developing relationships with other
adults and children. 2. Becoming an active, contributing member of the family. 3. Learning how to
deal with strong feelings appropriately. 4. Learning how to reason and solve problems logically. 5.
Developing understandings of concepts such as number, time and money. 6. Adjusting to changing
body image and coming to terms with sex role identity.
Adolescence Mental and Emotional Development:
Adolescence has been charactised as a time of storm and stress, but many adolescents make the
transition from child to adult with relative ease and with little trauma either to themselves or to their
parents. It is not surprising that, while their bodies are so rapidly changing, youngsters become quite
preoccupied with them and wonder what they will become.
Girls see their first period as a positive achievement towards adulthood or a dreadful event which
signifies the end of childhood.
Boys fear to speak as their voice breaks or they are delighted as their facial hair becomes obviously
present. The attitudes displayed will

applications are innovative in their storage, integration, and sharing capabilities, which address users
needs by allowing multiple people to contribute to a document, presentation, or spreadsheet

In his study, Jeong (2016) found an important strength of Google Drive was its cultivation of
collaborative learning and construction of collective knowledge. This was crucial to students
educational experience because it provided another outlet for peer interactions and the distribution of
knowledge (Jeong, 2016). Jeong (2016) discovered 90% of students appreciated the Google Drive
platform for the ways in which it enhanced active communication, autonomous class participation,
mutual collaboration, and dynamic classroom interaction (Jeong, 2016, p. 1). When students are
satisfied or perceive learning tools in a positive manner, they are more likely to be motivated to use
them in an effective way (Jeong, 2016). Further, Tan and Yongbeom (2011) examined how well
Google Docs facilitates group or organizational collaboration through its ability to allow users to work
asynchronously. They concluded when using Google Docs for a group project, the perceived
usefulness was statistically significant and positively affected satisfaction, a factor which has a strong
influence on the continued use of the application (Tan and Yongbeom, 2011). In a study using similar
variables of perceived use and ease of use, Davis (1989) found students perceptions of how
manageable Google applications were correlated with current and future usage. The performance and

Without question, you could say that Churchill was a risk taker, and not just the average joe at risk
taking but the risk taker where he puts everything on the line without even skipping a beat. For
example, in the Darkest Hour when he puts the lives of 4,000 men to intercept the entire German army
to save the lives of 300,000 was a huge risk. Although that risk was the result of Operation Dynamo
and was a huge success, there were other risks like pushing off the ideas of peace treaties and
disregarding what his war cabinet has to say to him. Throughout the film the Darkest Hour Churchill
makes many risky decisions but putting off the peace treaty negotiations was probably his biggest risk
of all. During that time in history, the possibility

Ecotourism vs Volunteer Tourism
The discussion on ecotourism and its essence has led to over eighty different definitions of the topic
(Fennell, 2008). However, one of the most used and comprehensive definitions is reported by Weaver
(ibidem). It describes ecotourism as a form of tourism that fosters awareness, education and
enjoyment of the natural environment and the local values in a sustainable way (Weaver, 2001a:15).
Hence, ecotourism, while thriving for profitability, aims to promote education and cultural awareness
of destinations without compromising their ecosystems. Eco tourists demand for more authentic and
meaningful forms of travel and; according to Orams (1996) (in Weaver, 2001a), they can be classified
in two different categories: hard and soft ones. The hard eco tourists believe in radical self
commitment with their destination, in order to ameliorate the natural environment (give back
something) through not mediated (Weaver, 2001b:106), challenging physical activities immersed in
the site s nature (ibidem). However, the soft visitors have shallower levels of commitment to the
environment than hard eco tourists. Indeed, while hard eco visitors tend to organise independently
(where high competence and time availability are required and low level of services expected on site),
soft ones rely on eco tour operators to organise less physically demanding tours (tab. 1.1a) (ibidem).
Nevertheless, further distinctions can be created between these two categories depending on the
antagonism

The Great Expectations By Charles Dickens Essay
In Great Expectations by Charles Dickens, Estella Havisham and Pip are a product of physical and
psychological abuse that shapes their opposing perspective in the novel. Pip understands the notion of
love through Mr. Joe and his relationships with the varying characters, while Estella remains cold and
incapable of loving anyone, including herself under the affluence of Miss Havisham. Estella was
considered the great expectation at the time because she represented the beauty and affluent ideals of
the Victorian Age. Pip on the other hand, an indigent boy who could scarcely sound out words and was
apprenticed to a blacksmith. These two distinct, yet similar worlds of Estella and Pip will leave them
longing for something more that evidently influences their perspectives of the events in the novel, the
notion for love. Estella marries into an abusive relationship at the conclusion of the novel, while Pip
experiences various losses of family and friends, forcing him to realize that human compassion is
greater than societal standing.
While under the affluence of her benefactor Miss Havisham, Estella became molded into this puppet ,
resulting from the compliant and haughty personality that Miss Havisham induced in her. Miss
Havisham used Estella as a product of vengeance to men, since she betrayed and left at the altar by
Compeyson. In the dialogue where Miss Havisham scolds Estella for having a cold heart, Estella

Dementia is a group of symptoms caused by other disorders that affect a person s cognition, it affects
short and long term memory that results in impaired judgment, personality changes and problem

The Risks Of A Risk Assessment
Every institute is confronted with certain hazard or probable menace that could cause an intermission
to the administration s procedures. These hazards and intimidation can come from inside or external of
the association. To prepare for the foulest that could occur, administrations must emphasis their
responsiveness on how to evaluate diverse types of perils to guard the society against the conceivable
undesirable effects to the diurnal processes. Execution of a risk valuation is one of the most imperative
phases in the risk managing procedure (Goldenberg 2011).
A Risk Assessment is intermittent valuation of the hazard and degree of the damage that could result
from the unsanctioned admittance, usage, revelation, disturbance, alteration, or obliteration of data and
material structures that sustain the processes and properties of the association. The risk assessment
must contain a deliberation of the chief aspects in risk management: the worth of the scheme or
submission, intimidation, susceptibilities, and the efficiency of present or projected safeguards.
Many administrations accomplish risk valuations to ration the quantity of hazards that could affect
their association, and recognize methods to diminish these menaces before a chief catastrophe occurs.
Department of Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) monitors strategies and guidelines
administered by procedures by which the association evaluates and accomplishes coverage to hazards.
Security is separated in three

there is a conscious disclosure of public information, which elicits lesser intimate responses than that

No Land s Man is an autobiography written in short essays by Aasif Mandvi. He sections off his book,
into many important events that happened throughout his life. Mandvi writes about his life as a child
all the way through adulthood. Mandvi was born in India and moved to England when he was only a
year old. He grew up with his mother, his father, and his younger sister, Shabana. Ever since Mandvi
was a child he wanted to be an actor. Culturally, Indian and Muslim parents strive for their children to
be successful, with high paying jobs. Mandvi s parents were supportive of him, but wanted him to be a
successful actor. At the beginning of the book he explains how his family and friends reacted to his
new future plan; they wanted him to be an ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This showed that not everyone picked on him, and some of the kids were genuinely nice, and were
concerned for him. He continually stayed positive throughout any event that had happened to him, and
he learned from it and continued to move forward.
Mandvi and his family moved to the United States when he was sixteen years old. When he moved to
America, his father strived to fit in, and be a true American. He tried too hard, and Mandvi felt that he
was a truer American than his father because he did not try as hard. Mandvi fit in better in America
than the other countries he grew up in because he created a new life for himself in America. Mandvi
lived in Florida and attended the University of Southern Florida, where he graduated with a degree in
Theatre.
Mandvi also wrote about his father, and his struggle throughout life. He talks about how he worked
hard for the family. His father worked for Verizon, answering the help line. Mandvi wrote a story
about his father getting fired for using profanity with a customer. His father was happy to be fired.
Although, he was unhappy with his job, he worked hard for his family. Once he was fired he said he
was going to grow chili peppers. Mandvi took after his father s work ethic, and never gave up, and

Similarities Between The Necklace And The Gift Of The Magi
Money is great to have but, it could lead to great sorrow. As this was shown in The Necklace and The
Gift of The Magi . In The Necklace Mme. Losiel wanted to look rich for her evening ball but, she lost
the necklace she borrowed because she lost the necklace she had to work for ten years to pay the
necklace off. In The Gift of The Magi Delia cut her hair so she had enough money to get her husband
a nice chain for his watch but, he sold his watch to get her a nice set of combs. Money does not buy
you happiness. Mme. Losiel found this out because she felt rich with the necklace but, because she
lost it she lived in a life of great work for ten years. Delia and her husband ended up putting their gifts
away because they realized they didn t need to give away their most prized possession away to get
nice gifts for each other to be happy.
The Necklace shows that money does not buy happiness. As Guy De Maupassant stated, He threw
over her shoulders the warps he had brought for going home, modest garments of everyday life whose
shabbiness clashed with the stylishness of her evening clothes. She felt this and longed to escape
unseen by the other women who were draped in expensive fur. (Maupassant 229) This shows that
Mme Loisel felt rich and was happy in her new nice dress and her diamond necklace but, because her
husband put a old ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
O. Henry shows this when he stated, They were expensive combs, she knew, and her heart simply
craved and yearned over them without the least hope of possession. And now, they were hers, but the
tresses that should have adorned the coveted adornments were gone. (O. Henry 108) Della proves this
because she thought if she cut her hair to get enough money so she could buy her husband a nice chain
for his watch he would be happy but, because he sold his watch to get Della nice combs they both
ended up sad because they sold their most prized possessions to make each other

Lenny Wilkens Research Paper
My essay is on a friend of our family, Lenny Wilkens. Lenny grew up in Bedford Stuyvesant
neighborhood of Brooklyn. His father was African American and his mom was Irish American. Lenny
was raised Catholic. In high school Wilkens Played with MLB star Tommy Davis. Wilkens was a two
time All American at Providence College. He led their team to their first NIT appearance in 1959 and t
the finals in 1960. After he played in college his jersey number was retired bu that college. Wilkens
was drafted 6th overall by the St. Louis Hawks in the 1960 NBA draft. He began his career with eight
seasons with the St. Louise Hawks. The Hawks made the playoffs a lot with Wilkens but never made

Although the Supersonics did not reach the playoffs while Wilkens coached and started at point guard,
their record improved each season and they won 47 games in the 1971 1972 NBA season. Wilkens
was dealt to the Cavaliers before the start of next season in a highly unpopular trade, and the
Supersonics fell 26 56 without Wilkens on their team. Wilkens ended his career spending two seasons
with the Cavaliers in 1972 1974 and one with the Portland Trail Blazers 1974 1975. Wilkens scored
17,772 points during the regular season, was a nine time NBAAll star and was named the 1971 NBA
all start game MVP in 1971. At the time on him retiring he was the NBA s second all time leader in
that category behind Oscar Robertson. Now I will go over his coaching career. From 1969 to 1972
with Seattle, and in his one season as a player with Portland, he was a player coach. He retired playing
in 1975 and was the full time coach of the trailblazers for one season. After one season of coaching, he
again became coach of the Supersonics when he replaced Bob Hopkins who as fired 22 games into the
77 78 seasons after a 5 17 start. The Sonics won 11 out of their 12 first games under Wilkens who
made the playoffs in back to back years, losing in seven games to

Preparation For A Marching Band
The sport/activity that I have chosen to talk about is marching band. Technically, this would be my
second year doing it but I am looking forward to doing marching band and jazz band later in high
school. So, I have chosen this activity to talk about because it s actually really fun and entertaining.
Many people would watch you, maybe, play one of their favorite songs while walking down the
streets of their hometown. Yea, it could get dark in that town, but it s better to be doing it, than to not.
There are many things to talk about with this sport like preparing, positioning, and errors. To be honest
there are a lot of errors in marching band, and it can get very detailed and confusing.
Preparation for Accomplishment of Activity Preparation for marching band can be fairly simple. First,
you obviously need to get your instrument and start putting it together once in a quiet, non distracting
place. If your instrument is a woodwind, it would do you a whole lot better if you were to wet your
reed. If you have a brass instrument, it would help your ametuar to do some buzzing excersises.
Percussion would be able to manage their 5 stroke roll better and their paradiddles better if they do left
to right and right to left drills. After your instrument is put together, practice your songs. If you ve got
that down, practice marching. Starting with your right foot, and keeping a steady beat. In marching
you have to walk with a steady pace as the rest of your group and/or band. Whilst

Endotoxin Essay
Endotoxin
Endotoxin are bacterial lipopolysaccharides (LPS), and is formed especially by lipids and sugars. It is
present in the outer cell envelope of gram negative bacterias and its purpose are to maintain the cell
membrane intact. The endotoxin is the principal component of the bacterial membrane. (Raetz, 2002)
LPS has a structure based on three main components: Lipid A, that is the hydrophobic part, an R
polysaccharide and an O polysaccharide (or O antigen). Consequently, it has both hydrophilic and
hydrophobic regions, which makes possible the formation of aggregates when the endotoxin goes into
the plasma.
According to Raetz (2009) when recombinant proteins are produced in E.coli or other gram negative
bacteria, it is necessary to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main difference is that the first one uses microporous membranes, and those contains functional
ligands attached to the internal pore surface throughout the membrane structure.
The advantage of membrane adsorbers is that the biding sites are not nestles within diffusive pores,
they are located alond the through pores, therefore, is possible to eliminate the diffusive pores, unlike
the packed column.
The membrane is made of a polymeric substrate that is chemically coupled to a functional ligand. Liu
(2010) also states that the membrane that attracted most of industry interest in purification process was
the quarternary amine (Q) membrane. At something about neutral to somewhat basic pH and at low
conductivities, endotoxin adhere to the Q membrane, while the basic antibody molecules flow through
the membrane without being bound.
Unfortunately, there are some limitations in this method, as its irregular flow distributuion, non
identical membrane size distribution, variable membrane thickness, the availability of appropriate
scale down devices and low binding capacities. Low biding capacity is attribuited to low surface area
as well as poor flow

Bus Boycott
When Rosa was just two years old her parents had split up so she went on with her mother to Pine
Lever, Alabama, to live with her grandparents. During her many experiences she had in Pine Level,
her grandfather stood in front of their house while the Ku Klux Klan members walked down the street.
Rosa was taught by her mother to read at a young age, she then went on to go to a one roomed school
in Pine Level. African American students had to walk to the 1st 6th grade school house, while white
students had bus transportation and a new school built for them. Through the rest of her education she
went to segregated schools in Montgomery, Alabama (including the Industrial School For Girls,
starting at eleven). In 1929, when she was in 11th grade ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

A Summary For Detecting Malicious Variable Routing
Literature review provides us with various techniques for detecting malicious packet drops. Also,
various classification techniques have been adopted by the authors. R. Rao and G. Kesidis proposed a
paper titled Detecting malicious packet dropping using statistically regular traffic patterns in multihop
wireless networks that are not bandwidth limited which observes the traffic patterns for the detection
of packet dropping attacks. Sensors are used to check the traffic intensity. In this paper for verifying
the traffic a selected traffic transmission patterns is suggested so that it can be verified by a receiver.
Such traffic patterns are used with suboptimal MAC that preserves the statistical regularity from hop
to hop. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Besides randomness, the routes generated by this mechanisms are also highly dispersive and energy
efficient, making them quite capable of bypassing black holes at low energy cost. This paper, develops
a mechanism that generate randomized multipath routes. But extensive simulations are to be
conducted and hence this is highly expensive method. S.Marti, T.Giuli, K.Lai and M.Baker proposed a
paper titled, Mitigating Routing Misbehavior in Mobile Ad hoc Network , discussed about a reputation
system that relies on neighbors to monitor and identify misbehaving nodes. Node with high packet
dropping rate is given a bad reputation by its neighbors and this reputation information is propagated
periodically throughout the network and is used as an important metric in selecting routes. And finally
a malicious node will be excluded from any of the route. Here also Dynamic Source Routing (DSR)
protocol which uses source routing instead of relying on routing table at each intermediate device. The
ambiguous collision among the misbehaving node is ailed to be detected in this paper. Alejandro
Proano and Loukas Lazos proposed a paper titled, Packet Hiding Methods for Preventing Selective
Jamming Attacks where the problem of jamming under an internal threat model is discussed. The
adversary will be aware about the network secrets and the implementation details of network protocols
at any layer in the network is considered. For launching selective jamming attacks in

Russian Gulag Essay
The Gulags of the Soviet Union have been compared to the concentration camps of Nazi Germany, but
in reality they were worse. The Gulags were isolated prison camps peppered across Siberia. Death,
torture, and disease raged within their walls, while endless work went on outside. Gulag personnel
were cruel and unfeeling, using terrible punishment methods and playing senseless games that cost
prisoners their lives. Political enemies of the Bolshevik party made up a significant portion of the
prisoner population, with most sent to the infamous camp system Kolyma. Liberation was painfully
slow, but by 1960, all of the Gulags were gone.
The Gulags were called many things by the Soviet government, but when boiled down, they were

In addition to this, in the mindset of the day, if someone was suspected of anti Bolshevik activities,
they were automatically guilty. The investigator would look for anything he could find that could
possibly make the person guilty at all. Sometimes the investigator would take up a random piece of
literature, say it was bad, and have the suspect shipped off, even if the incriminating evidence was
something as benign as the children s story Goodnight Moon. The investigator would not be the one to
tell the suspect what he was even accused of; he would just take the evidence and people would soon
kidnap the suspect and toss him in a cattle car to Siberia, which was cramped with a mass of other
convicts. When the prisoners reached the Gulag, an official there would take everyone s valuables and
toss the convicts into cramped cells. The interrogation could start at any time. For some the
interrogations were that day, and for others it never came and their lives were lived out in the dirty
cells. When and if the interrogator got a confession out of someone, a prison sentence was read out
and the convict was sent off to the actual Gulag. Interrogation was possibly the most terrifying part of
the early Gulag prison term. The interrogator could be anyone with any type of personality, but he or
she always had a myriad of torture methods to extract

Cold Shot Monologue
Should I do it? My heart sits in my throat as a man and boy come into view. Distant enough that I can
t make out their faces, but too close for my liking. I ve been here before. This is not good. The urge to
shoot the bow immediately is bursting at the seams, unfathomably tempting. Competing thoughts
skitter through my brain, unrelenting and refusing to let go. My heart skips a beat with the bow in my
cold calloused hands. Too many unknowns in this new, cruel world add a different degree of difficulty
to this decision. Instinctively, my first response is to eliminate the threat, to shoot the man and boy.
The boy looks no older than 10, an innocent young boy in a world of guilty men. To take a father
away from his son is undeniably harsh, this I know. But if I m to leave the man, the threat he poses is
undeniable. I ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The cold bow in my hands a desperate and depressing reminder of the decision standing in front of
me. I shouldn t shoot. But the man has supplies. It s been days since we ran out of canned food, using
up the last of our water stores just this morning, making the decision to shoot seem tempting. My
throat feels like dry sandpaper as I swallow, scratchy, and a reminder of our desperation, the mans
supplies look plentiful. Cans of food, water canisters, a blanket even. Oh, the things I would do for a
blanket. But the boy. The weight of the decision physically consumes me, tearing me into pieces.
Paranoid and violent, never attributes I d proudly claim, yet drilled into me fundamentally as a result
of this new world. I hate it. With the love of my life breathing heavily just behind me, my desperation
to eliminate any threat rapidly grows. I wiped the sweat from my brow with a shaking hand, panic
coursing through veins. My fears escalate and thoughts dart out of control. I am putting this woman s
life in danger by not acting. I need to shoot the man. I have to do

  • 2. Spirited Away Analysis In Hayao Miyazaki s breathtaking film, Spirited Away we are introduced to 10 year old Chihiro and her parents who stumble upon a seemingly abandoned amusement park. After her mother and father turn into giant pigs, Chihiro meets the mysterious Haku, who explains the park is a resort for the supernatural beings who need a break from the earthly realm, and that she must work there to free herself and her parents. A melancholy child whom ironically holds a bouquet of bright flowers to her chest, which we learn was a farewell gift from her friend on Chihiro s moving day. Chihiro and her parents stumble upon a ominous tunnel as they search for their new home. The tunnel lures Chihiro s parents inside, causing the young child to quickly rush and cling to her mother in fear of being alone, like any child would. Upon entering the Spirit World, they stumble upon a festive amusement park that has seemingly just been abandoned. During this scene Chihiro s parents morph into gluttonous pigs, consumed by their own greed and hunger upon eating offerings that were meant for the spirits. Young Chihiro now left ... • 3. The Effects Of Lawyering In The 1930s Lawyering was dangerous during the 1930s. As I mentioned earlier, it was rare to find black lawyers during that time, especially in the South, as they were seen as threats to the social order. It was also unlikely that a judge would appoint a black lawyer to defend a black man in a rape trial as black lawyers risked physical injury or even death by doing so. They were run out of towns and physically assaulted if they represented black men accused of any crime by white people. The situation was similar for white lawyers. As Banks says, In real life, the few local white lawyers who represented black clients often suffered economic loss as well as social isolation. Although the rape of black women was common during that time, the legal system and history about that time period denied the fact that black women were subjected to sexual assault. The most troubling fact, though, is that black women were much more vulnerable to rape than white women were. White mobs used the rape of black women as a way to terrorize black people and black women were exposed to sexual aggression from their employers as they worked outside their homes in contrast to white women who worked inside their homes. Despite all of these facts, it was highly unlikely for a black victim s case to go to trial and even if it did, the defendants were mostly protected by prejudices against black women. Even the special doctrinal rules applied to black defendants were not applied when victims were black women. As Wriggins says, By using disparate procedures, the court implicitly makes two assertions. Through this final project, I was able to therapeutically process a traumatic event in my life and turn something negative into a positive light. Process based art therapy highlights the educational and transformative properties of art making and natural creation. My personal style is continuously evolving, but it is often based in collage work or drawing figures with pencil on paper. My artistic style highlights a sense of control and desire to work with traditional mediums. I ve always worked with pencil and paper or collage because of the ease of access to materials. There were always pencils and printer paper or empty journals for me to draw in no matter where I was. Additionally, I loved to draw people and create my own characters. I draw people because it brings an emotional aspect to my art that makes the drawing seem less static. When drawing different faces, I can create depth and feeling into their eyes that makes the 2 dimensional character seem real. One artist who has always inspired my style is Alphonse Mucha. Mucha s decorative art featured a variety of women with flowing hair and long billowing dresses. • 8. Voltaire s Theory Of Optimism Candide, published in 1759 by Voltaire, is a satirical novella criticizing the type of European Civilization Voltaire grew up around. Voltaire is known for his literary works mocking the time period he lived in, especially when it came to their religious beliefs and the aristocracy he was surrounded with. Due to Voltaire s experiences in Paris with European Society, Candide showcases his contempt for organized religion, noble rank, and optimist philosophy. Candide, the illegitimate son of a Baron s sister, lives in the Baron s castle, studying under the philosopher Pangloss. Pangloss teaches Candide his theory of optimism, keeping Candide innocent to the world beyond the castle. He thinks that the castle is the best castle there is, and that everything happens for a good reason, a belief that Pangloss has instilled in him. Cunégonde, the Baron s daughter, has caught the eye of Candide, and when they are found in a compromising romantic position, he is tossed out of the Castle. From there, Candide sets out on many adventures, most having unfortunate ends, giving Candide a taste of the reality he never got from castle life and studying under Pangloss. Keating also discussed that there are mnay private foundations that allocate funds for nursing programs; these include the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (2015). • 15. Ecotourism vs Volunteer Tourism The discussion on ecotourism and its essence has led to over eighty different definitions of the topic (Fennell, 2008). However, one of the most used and comprehensive definitions is reported by Weaver (ibidem). It describes ecotourism as a form of tourism that fosters awareness, education and enjoyment of the natural environment and the local values in a sustainable way (Weaver, 2001a:15). Hence, ecotourism, while thriving for profitability, aims to promote education and cultural awareness of destinations without compromising their ecosystems. Eco tourists demand for more authentic and meaningful forms of travel and; according to Orams (1996) (in Weaver, 2001a), they can be classified in two different categories: hard and soft ones. The hard eco tourists believe in radical self commitment with their destination, in order to ameliorate the natural environment (give back something) through not mediated (Weaver, 2001b:106), challenging physical activities immersed in the site s nature (ibidem). However, the soft visitors have shallower levels of commitment to the environment than hard eco tourists. Indeed, while hard eco visitors tend to organise independently (where high competence and time availability are required and low level of services expected on site), soft ones rely on eco tour operators to organise less physically demanding tours (tab. 1.1a) (ibidem). To prepare for the foulest that could occur, administrations must emphasis their responsiveness on how to evaluate diverse types of perils to guard the society against the conceivable undesirable effects to the diurnal processes. Execution of a risk valuation is one of the most imperative phases in the risk managing procedure (Goldenberg 2011). A Risk Assessment is intermittent valuation of the hazard and degree of the damage that could result from the unsanctioned admittance, usage, revelation, disturbance, alteration, or obliteration of data and material structures that sustain the processes and properties of the association. In The Gift of The Magi Delia cut her hair so she had enough money to get her husband a nice chain for his watch but, he sold his watch to get her a nice set of combs. Money does not buy you happiness. Mme. Losiel found this out because she felt rich with the necklace but, because she lost it she lived in a life of great work for ten years. Delia and her husband ended up putting their gifts away because they realized they didn t need to give away their most prized possession away to get nice gifts for each other to be happy. The Necklace shows that money does not buy happiness. As Guy De Maupassant stated, He threw over her shoulders the warps he had brought for going home, modest garments of everyday life whose shabbiness clashed with the stylishness of her evening clothes. She felt this and longed to escape unseen by the other women who were draped in expensive fur. (Maupassant 229) This shows that Mme Loisel felt rich and was happy in her new nice dress and her diamond necklace but, because her husband put a old ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... O. Henry 108) Della proves this because she thought if she cut her hair to get enough money so she could buy her husband a nice chain for his watch he would be happy but, because he sold his watch to get Della nice combs they both ended up sad because they sold their most prized possessions to make each other ... • 28. Preparation For A Marching Band The sport/activity that I have chosen to talk about is marching band. Technically, this would be my second year doing it but I am looking forward to doing marching band and jazz band later in high school. So, I have chosen this activity to talk about because it s actually really fun and entertaining. Many people would watch you, maybe, play one of their favorite songs while walking down the streets of their hometown. Yea, it could get dark in that town, but it s better to be doing it, than to not. There are many things to talk about with this sport like preparing, positioning, and errors. To be honest there are a lot of errors in marching band, and it can get very detailed and confusing. Preparation for Accomplishment of Activity Preparation for marching band can be fairly simple. First, you obviously need to get your instrument and start putting it together once in a quiet, non distracting place. If your instrument is a woodwind, it would do you a whole lot better if you were to wet your reed. If you have a brass instrument, it would help your ametuar to do some buzzing excersises. Percussion would be able to manage their 5 stroke roll better and their paradiddles better if they do left to right and right to left drills. After your instrument is put together, practice your songs. If you ve got that down, practice marching. Starting with your right foot, and keeping a steady beat. In marching you have to walk with a steady pace as the rest of your group and/or band. Whilst ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Endotoxin Essay Endotoxin Endotoxin are bacterial lipopolysaccharides (LPS), and is formed especially by lipids and sugars. It is present in the outer cell envelope of gram negative bacterias and its purpose are to maintain the cell membrane intact. The endotoxin is the principal component of the bacterial membrane. (Raetz, 2002) LPS has a structure based on three main components: Lipid A, that is the hydrophobic part, an R polysaccharide and an O polysaccharide (or O antigen). Consequently, it has both hydrophilic and hydrophobic regions, which makes possible the formation of aggregates when the endotoxin goes into the plasma. According to Raetz (2009) when recombinant proteins are produced in E.coli or other gram negative bacteria, it is necessary to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main difference is that the first one uses microporous membranes, and those contains functional ligands attached to the internal pore surface throughout the membrane structure. The advantage of membrane adsorbers is that the biding sites are not nestles within diffusive pores, they are located alond the through pores, therefore, is possible to eliminate the diffusive pores, unlike the packed column. The membrane is made of a polymeric substrate that is chemically coupled to a functional ligand. Liu (2010) also states that the membrane that attracted most of industry interest in purification process was the quarternary amine (Q) membrane. At something about neutral to somewhat basic pH and at low conductivities, endotoxin adhere to the Q membrane, while the basic antibody molecules flow through the membrane without being bound. Unfortunately, there are some limitations in this method, as its irregular flow distributuion, non identical membrane size distribution, variable membrane thickness, the availability of appropriate scale down devices and low binding capacities. Low biding capacity is attribuited to low surface area as well as poor flow ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

During her many experiences she had in Pine Level, her grandfather stood in front of their house while the Ku Klux Klan members walked down the street. Rosa was taught by her mother to read at a young age, she then went on to go to a one roomed school in Pine Level. African American students had to walk to the 1st 6th grade school house, while white students had bus transportation and a new school built for them. • 31. A Summary For Detecting Malicious Variable Routing Literature review provides us with various techniques for detecting malicious packet drops. Also, various classification techniques have been adopted by the authors. R. Rao and G. Kesidis proposed a paper titled Detecting malicious packet dropping using statistically regular traffic patterns in multihop wireless networks that are not bandwidth limited which observes the traffic patterns for the detection of packet dropping attacks. Sensors are used to check the traffic intensity. In this paper for verifying the traffic a selected traffic transmission patterns is suggested so that it can be verified by a receiver. Such traffic patterns are used with suboptimal MAC that preserves the statistical regularity from hop to hop. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Besides randomness, the routes generated by this mechanisms are also highly dispersive and energy efficient, making them quite capable of bypassing black holes at low energy cost. This paper, develops a mechanism that generate randomized multipath routes. But extensive simulations are to be conducted and hence this is highly expensive method. S.Marti, T.Giuli, K.Lai and M.Baker proposed a paper titled, Mitigating Routing Misbehavior in Mobile Ad hoc Network , discussed about a reputation system that relies on neighbors to monitor and identify misbehaving nodes. Node with high packet dropping rate is given a bad reputation by its neighbors and this reputation information is propagated periodically throughout the network and is used as an important metric in selecting routes. And finally a malicious node will be excluded from any of the route. Here also Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) protocol which uses source routing instead of relying on routing table at each intermediate device. The ambiguous collision among the misbehaving node is ailed to be detected in this paper. Alejandro Proano and Loukas Lazos proposed a paper titled, Packet Hiding Methods for Preventing Selective Jamming Attacks where the problem of jamming under an internal threat model is discussed. The adversary will be aware about the network secrets and the implementation details of network protocols at any layer in the network is considered. For launching selective jamming attacks in ... • 32. Russian Gulag Essay The Gulags of the Soviet Union have been compared to the concentration camps of Nazi Germany, but in reality they were worse. The Gulags were isolated prison camps peppered across Siberia. Death, torture, and disease raged within their walls, while endless work went on outside. Gulag personnel were cruel and unfeeling, using terrible punishment methods and playing senseless games that cost prisoners their lives. Political enemies of the Bolshevik party made up a significant portion of the prisoner population, with most sent to the infamous camp system Kolyma. Liberation was painfully slow, but by 1960, all of the Gulags were gone. The Gulags were called many things by the Soviet government, but when boiled down, they were essentially ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition to this, in the mindset of the day, if someone was suspected of anti Bolshevik activities, they were automatically guilty. The investigator would look for anything he could find that could possibly make the person guilty at all. Sometimes the investigator would take up a random piece of literature, say it was bad, and have the suspect shipped off, even if the incriminating evidence was something as benign as the children s story Goodnight Moon. The investigator would not be the one to tell the suspect what he was even accused of; he would just take the evidence and people would soon kidnap the suspect and toss him in a cattle car to Siberia, which was cramped with a mass of other convicts. When the prisoners reached the Gulag, an official there would take everyone s valuables and toss the convicts into cramped cells. The interrogation could start at any time. For some the interrogations were that day, and for others it never came and their lives were lived out in the dirty cells. When and if the interrogator got a confession out of someone, a prison sentence was read out and the convict was sent off to the actual Gulag. Interrogation was possibly the most terrifying part of the early Gulag prison term. The interrogator could be anyone with any type of personality, but he or she always had a myriad of torture methods to extract ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

I ve been here before. This is not good. The urge to shoot the bow immediately is bursting at the seams, unfathomably tempting. Competing thoughts skitter through my brain, unrelenting and refusing to let go. My heart skips a beat with the bow in my cold calloused hands. Too many unknowns in this new, cruel world add a different degree of difficulty to this decision. Instinctively, my first response is to eliminate the threat, to shoot the man and boy.
