Essay About War
Crafting an essay on the theme of war is undoubtedly a challenging endeavor. The subject is
multifaceted, with historical, political, social, and ethical dimensions that demand careful
consideration. Delving into the complexities of war necessitates a deep understanding of its
impact on individuals, societies, and the world at large.
One of the primary challenges lies in navigating the emotional terrain associated with war.
Addressing the human toll, the stories of loss, sacrifice, and resilience, requires a delicate balance
between empathy and objectivity. Striking this balance is essential to provide a nuanced
perspective that honors the gravity of the subject matter.
Furthermore, the historical context of different wars adds another layer of complexity.
Researching and contextualizing events, understanding the geopolitical dynamics, and analyzing
the consequences of war on a global scale demand meticulous attention to detail. The essay must
be well-informed and grounded in factual accuracy to present a comprehensive and insightful
exploration of the topic.
Addressing the ethical considerations surrounding war introduces another dimension of
difficulty. Evaluating the justifiability of conflicts, the morality of certain actions, and the
consequences of war crimes requires a thoughtful and nuanced approach. Balancing diverse
perspectives and presenting a fair analysis while upholding a clear moral stance can be
intellectually demanding.
Moreover, crafting a compelling essay on war necessitates a critical examination of contemporary
conflicts. Assessing ongoing geopolitical tensions, analyzing the role of media in shaping public
perceptions, and exploring potential avenues for conflict resolution add a layer of real-time
relevance to the discussion.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of war is a formidable task that demands intellectual
rigor, empathy, and a nuanced understanding of historical, political, and ethical dimensions. It
requires the ability to navigate emotional complexities, conduct in-depth research, and present a
well-informed perspective that goes beyond surface-level analysis.

one mentioned above, HelpWriting.net offers a platform where you can order professionally

Speech On Becoming A Firefighter
Becoming a firefighter requires specific qualities such as strength, endurance, and
bravery. Those who inspire to become a firefighter must devote their time and well
being to those in crisis. A firefighter does not just hang around the station all day,
instead you will have to field many calls. When you are not working you will have
to be helping out around the station. The station does not just stay clean itself you
will be assigned chores and duties you will have to follow. Being in physical shape is
also a main part of being a firefighter.
Now there is also types of fires firefighters need to know about. The first type of fire
there is class A fire. A class A fire are the most ordinary and basic type of fire. They
are ordinary combustible fires like wood, paper, cloth, trash, and plastics. Class B
fires are caused by flammable liquids. Flammable liquids for example are things
like gasoline, petroleum oil, and paint. Class B fires also include flammable gases.
The gases that are in class B are things like propane and butane. Some people might
mistake fires caused by cooking oils and grease as a class B but that is not true at all
they are not considered in the category. Class C fires involve electrical equipment.
Electrical equipment such as motors not just car motors, transformers, and appliances.
If you remove the power from any of the things listed it will no longer be able to be
consider as a class C fire it will get reclassified as a different group of fire class.

George R. R. Martin uses his animalistic tendencies and relates it to the human
nature in his series: A Song of Ice and Fire . A song of ice and fire is a series of
novels by the American novelist and screenwriter, George R. R. Martin. The first
volume of the series, a game of thrones, was begun in 1991 and first published in
1996. The series has grown from a planned trilogy to seven volumes, the fifth and
most recent of which, a dance with dragons, took Martin five years to write before its
publication in 2011. The sixth novel, the winds of winter, is still being written.

The Pros And Cons Of British Imperialism
No one can ever deny the fact that the British Empire contributed to most of the
world history. The British imperialism has impacted various aspects of the world,
even until today; however, there is a constant debate on whether it yielded more of
positives or negatives. For instance, Niall Ferguson in his book Empire: The Rise
and Demise of the British World Order and the Lessons for Global Power argues for
the positive values of the British imperialism. On the other hand, Fanon in
Concerning Violence and Orwell in Shooting an Elephant offer a negative view on
imperialism and colonialism. In the paper, the argument based on the comparison of
the claims made in these three articles, states that the argument made by Ferguson is
exaggerating... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The main argument of Fanon is that decolonization can successfully take place only
through violence. The colonial world is divided into two habitats of two different
species: the settlers and the colonized people. The settlers enjoy the privileges over
the natives or the colonized people in strongly built and hygiene, organized zone,
surrounded with the masses of food and goods. While, the natives stay in the town of
ill fame, with the limited amount of resources. The natives, feeling envy and desire of
possessions, think about overthrowing the settlers (Fanon, 1965, p.38 39). The
inequality and conflict between the settlers and the natives are the result of the
imperial rule more broadly, the consequence of the imperialism. Exploitation of the
natives by the colonizers is a common norm of imperialism; yet, Ferguson tries to
defend such negative consequence by presenting the benefits conferred by British
law and administration and being non venal that its sins are generally sins of
omission, not commission (Ferguson, 2002,
Wikipedia Vs Harvapedia Essay
When one searches to find reliable information on the Internet, they must keep in
mind; there are very few sources published on the web that can be trusted without
looking into the background of that source itself. One of the most famous examples
of this idea is the digital encyclopedia Wikipedia. Every student has been warned to
be careful of what they read on this websiteand take as true because of the fact that
everyone is able to make edits on the articles. Comparatively, a newer digital
encyclopedia called Conservapedia claims to be the trustworthy version of Wikipedia.
Even though there are specific deference s between the encyclopedias, they still
share many of the same qualities. Looking at the web articles superficially, the
encyclopedias are almost identical. From the format of the page, layout of the page,

However, the reasons as to why there is a debate are different for the articles.
Wikipedia, also known as the free encyclopedia, did provide more information about

Western Themes In The Film Mad Max 2
The 1970 s and 1980 s was considered to be a golden period in Australian cinema,
with many classic Australian films, such as Crocodile Dundee, being released during
this era. One such film that helped develop Australia s reputation in the film industry
on an international level, was the Mad Max trilogy, specifically Mad Max 2, released
in 1981.
Despite being a post apocalyptic film, Mad Max 2 reflects themes of an old Western
movie, with Max, a former sheriff, mirroring a Western hero, with his car in place
of a horse, driving throughout a barren wasteland (Ratto, 2014, pp.78). After
rescuing a man having been attacked by a group of outlaws, knows as The
Marauders, Max returns the injured man to his settlement and goes on to help the
entire settlement escape from The Marauders. This resemblance to an old Western
film, gave Mad Max 2 the ability to break into the international film market, which
was at the time (and still today) dominated by American films, especially old
Westerns. The success of the first and second Mad Max films also resulted in a boom
in production of Australian films, resulting in more making it on an international
market. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A common theme in many post apocalyptic films, is that of technology being the
cause of the event that formed the post apocalyptic world, or else have, the
apocalyptic catastrophe often destroy the technology and infrastructures of the
modern world (Harris, 2016, pp.14). Whilst most technology in Mad Max 2 is non
existence, the emphasis on vehicles differs Mad Max 2 from other films in the post
apocalyptic genre, instead showing the power of technology as those with cars and
the skills to drive them, give them an advantage over those without, along with the
necessities of survival. The themes of Road Warrior are fundamentally based
on...technological might overcoming ugly savagery. (Harris, 2016,

affect the enthalpy change when an alcohol goes under combustion.
The energy that alcohols release when being used is called the enthalpy change of
combustion. This is defined as
Standard enthalpy change of combustion, is the enthalpy change when one mole of a

Theoretical: these values will be obtained from the Nuffield Science Data book. I
will use various bond energies that are in the data book and work out the amount of
energy that is required to break the bonds for each alcohol. These values are
important as they will give me an indication of how good my results are and how

CASE DESCRIPTION
This case is designed for the study of leadership and organizational change within a
unit of a larger organization. As such it provides an important learning experience for
students who are already managers or who aspire to that level of responsibility. The
primary learning opportunities address building a vision at the unit level,
restructuring for success, overcoming resistance to change internally and across other
units of a larger corporation, building support with powerful sponsors, ... Show more

The case chronicles the new leadership team s approach to transforming the basic
functions of the group, while concurrently managing the old processes until the
new ones are operable. The challenge is complicated by substantial resistance to
change by executives in powerful operating divisions affected by the compliance
responsibilities of the CDBG. Communication and collaboration across
organizational silos and the role of powerful sponsors are key elements of the
transformation. The case ends with a summary of early wins for the unit, and a list
of challenges its leaders will face over the next few years.

antiquated processes, the lack of required policies and procedures, and the absence of

River Padma, the biggest and most raging river of Bangladesh, is only twenty

people in those areas to cross the river to reach the capital city, Dhaka. In the year of

Abstract
This paper begins with a general idea of self disclosure by therapists and the
importance of keeping the client s needs first. It covers many aspects of self
disclosure including ethically what to look for in the motives of using self disclosure
with a client. There are other aspects of self disclosure which include transference and
countertransference which are issues which need to be attended to immediately for
the therapist to remain objective and not react to a client. Therapists must be cautious
in disclosing information and make sure it is relevant to treatment. Beneficence and
nonmaleficence are important things to consider when self disclosing and the
therapist must be educated, well trained, and have experience before considering self
disclosure. Also included in this paper are different orientations in relation to self
disclosure. Those orientations include Adlerian therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy,
feminist therapy, and relational therapy. Although these are only a few orientations,

IMEI and UDID are the unique ID of a user s phone. Access to IMEI/UDID is a
major concern as well as it ad networks and application developers can get in depth
view of users by creating a complete profile of a user across multiple apps combined

Data Collection and Public Awareness
The apps used today often collect data more than needed for its functionality (Li et

address books, access calendar and track IMEI/UDID without users notice (Li et

Enck et al. (2011, p.28) studied 1,100 Android apps, and found that half of these apps

The first artwork I chose didn t have a title with it but it was drawn by Douglas A.
Beckett. I went to the Activity Center of San Marcos with Geoff Bretches and
Alice Horn (My mom). The painting is a portrait with multiple types of rock
looking shapes. You can t really tell what the time of day was but it looks like it
was outside on a mountain or cliff. It is a vertical realistic piece. The artwork was
made in the contemporary period because it was drawn just last year. There is just a
cluster of a bunch of big rocks surrounding pebbles. The artist must not be that famous
currently because I couldn t find any information on him.
The lines of the art piece are thin, structural and curved. The art is dark and dull but
looks very realistic. Just looking at the piece it feels rough because it is like you are
walking on top of rocks. You are looking at it from a top perspective so you can see
bigger stones around the little pebbles. It is a two dimensional drawing of a three
dimensional figure. I would say his pattern and unity are good because it ... Show

about this art piece was that the drawing was in black and white. If it would have
had more color in it, I probably would have liked it from the start. I wouldn t hang

people see artwork differently because everybody has a different taste in art. If I
could give this work a title, I would title it Life Changing. I would title it that
because each rock could have a different change in your life. I would probably hang
this painting in the court room with the meaning of it so the people known how

Film Analysis Of The Awakenings
There are always losses to each pleasant situation and unfortunately in the 1990 film
directed by Penny Marshall, Awakenings, this theme appears throughout. In a
chronically ill hospital where Dr. Malcolm Sayer is recruited with little to no
experience with people, he works with multiple patients that are in a sleep like state
including Mr. Leonard Lowe. Set in the late sixties, there were not many medical
advances that already existed to help these patients but Dr. Sayer makes unheard of
discoveries. Many awakeningsoccur in this film, but with these renewals comes gains
and losses. Dr. Sayer, the staff, and the patients inhabited in this Brooklyn hospitalgain
and lose different things with their explorations.
Dr. Malcolm Sayer begins as a man full of nervousness and a lack of people skills
but eventually goes through stages that lead to an awakening. Sayer is a nice man,
though he likes to keep to himself because he knows no different. He has never
been in an hospital for humans as his last exploration was on earthworms. The first
few days at the hospital are filled with patients whom he knows nothing about being
thrown at him which makes the doctor very nervous and detached from his safe
lifestyle. One patient in particular interests Sayer named Leonard. Going through
tests and medicine with Leonard Lowe, Malcolm s eyes begin to open. After
watching Leonard go through various phases, Sayer seems to feel more confident.
Dr. Sayer knows that what he has done is

Comparison of Genesis with Other Creation Mythologies
We all know that our mothers and fathers gave us birth, and grandmothers and
grandfathers gave our parents birth. However, what about the beginning? What
does the beginning look like? Who created the sky, the earth, the mountains and
rivers, the plants, the animals, and the human beings? How was the world created?
What happened to the creator? These questions have puzzled and are asked by
every people. However, no one has yet found the answers, and I have heard people
saying that the creation of life is as impossible as the natural creation of an airplane
from a stack of waste. With the willingness of knowing the self, ancient people tried

The only difference is that in this Indian story, not even God(or an equivalent form)
was there. Egyptians and Chinese imagined the same scene, the Nun and the chaotic
egg with a giant (Egyptian, Lin 1). In contrast with the creation out of nothing, the
indigenous Australian mythology tells us that the stars, the sky, the sun, the moon,
and the ancestors of all lives were already present in the beginning, but they are
sleeping under the crust of the earth in the water holes (Aborigine). Seneca people
believed that humans were living in the heaven originally, and there were only ocean
and ocean living lives on the earth (Creation). It is very interesting to recognize how
important water is to lives. Every account of creation that I have read included water
before anything else was present.
Whatever was present in the beginning had managed to create all the rest, and the
description of creators are of three categories, a single creator, multi creators, and no
creator. In Genesis, God is the single creator, and so is Brahman of India. The
difference is that the God is immortal, but Brahman is mortal (Genesis, Genesis
Project). In Chinese mythology, Pan Gu was the creator of everything but men, who
were created by Nu Wa, a goddess (Lin 1 5). Other examples of multi creators are in
the mythology of Egypt and Seneca in which the children of the creator became

Darkness And Darkness In John Milton s Relation To
Darkness
Perhaps, within one line, Milton describes the nature of all emitted light; that it
must, if we are to call it light, be considered in relation to darkness and that
darkness must be considered in relation to light; that a thing cannot be without its
opposite, since any one member of an antithesis cannot exist without a counter
member, or an anti member; as a white horse cannot be compared to a black one
without the black one being present; A cannot be compared to B unless B is
present; by extension, an antithesis works by expressing two extremities of any one
quality, the antithesis of white is black, since, if we were to evaluate colour, white
suggests the prescience of white and the absence of black, and vice versa. But, to
what degree is blackness said to exist in whiteness? Are they two separate qualities?
Is one merely the absence of the other? Is so, the true nature of the antithesis is of one
existent thing to a non existent thing. Suppose we are to compare lightness to
darkness: if lightis said to exist, as an emission which illuminates darkness, then light
can only be considered as something which illuminates darkness, and thus can only
be considered in relation to darkness; likewise, if we are to call darkness that thing
which covers light, it must be considered in relation to its opposite, which supposes
that both exist; but, if we suppose that both exist, than darkness cannot be the absence
of light but must rather be covering of it. We run into problems,
Driverless Car Safety Ethics
We envision in the future, you can take your hands off the wheel, and your commute
becomes restful or productive instead of frustrating and exhausting, said Jeffrey
Zients, director of the National Economic Council, adding that highly automated
vehicles will save time, money and lives. (3). Driverless cars are an on growing
technological development that has been gaining popularity in the automotive
industry. This new technology is being used in applications such as collision and
crash avoidance, but arises a fear for safety. The moral dilemma surfaces from putting
human lives in the hands of, essentially, a robot chauffeur. I plan to explore safety
ethics through a Utilitarian, including the line drawing technique, and Kantian

This kind of technology was developed with the intention of improving the quality
of life of people by eliminating human error, which, as mentioned previously,
accounts for 95% of all car crashes. When compared to autonomous vehicles,
researchers estimate that driverless cars could, by midcentury, reduce traffic
fatalities by up to 90 percent. (4) I believe engineers developed this technology
acting on their duty to improve the quality of life of the public. I am an Electronic
Systems Engineering Technology student and I am currently working on a senior
design project, which consists of providing a certain level of autonomy to a go
kart. My team and I are developing a vehicle to vehicle communication and control
system (V2VC2). My project is a baseline project that in the long run hopes to
reduce the amount of human exposure in dangerous grounds. I have been working
on this project for almost a year now and before starting it, I did extensive research
on autonomous vehicles. With the knowledge I have gained after researching this
topic and working on my project, I have developed a utilitarian view on the subject.
I believe that engineers worked and continue to work hard to minimize the risk to
people on the roads with the development of this technology. This kind of technology
is fairly new, and it has caused human deaths, but its something engineers are still
trying to improve with the end goal of minimizing human deaths. There is still a
long way to go before this kind of technology is perfected, but there are trying to
develop measures to prevent further damage to the

Examples Of Perseverance
When times get tough many people s first instinct is to give up. Even though it seems
easier it s not always the best option. Perseverance should be something that you
think of when times get rough. The three texts that show perseverance are Mother
Son, Trapeze Comic, and Saudi Arabia s Freedom Riders. Motherto Son is a poem
written by a mother to her son telling him to never give up in life and always keep
pushing because it will all be worth it in the long run. The article states that Life for
her ain t been no crystal stair. this act demonstrates perseverance because it is her
saying that life for her hasn t been easy but she pushed through it. Another example
of perseverance is because his mother had a hard life but she worked hard to be
where she is now. The women also said to her son Don t you set down on them

`` Two Kinds `` By Amy Tan And The Rocking Horse
Winner Essay
The Cusp of Success
A common theme we see in the two stories, Two Kinds by Amy Tan, and The
Rocking Horse Winner by D.H Lawrence is the detrimental effects that a forcing a
bar of success can have on developing adolescents. Recognizing that the product of
success is generally good, clouds the notion that there is in fact a wide range of
effects that chasing success can bring about. Some of these effects have positive
repercussions, teaching adolescents discipline and work ethic. However, some of
the effects are quite negative, especially in those that are too young to truly care for
themselves. Forcing a cusp of success on adolescents indirectly in The Rocking
Horse Winner or directly in Two Kinds pushes the children to achieve the impossible
resulting in a breaking point in the adolescent characters. Paul is infatuated with luck
for after being convinced that luck is the bane of his father and family he feels as if he
is responsible for maintaining his family s happiness with the success that his luck
brings. Whispers that creep through his house are whispers of depression and doubt
that plague Paul driving him forwards thus he states, I started it for mother. She said
she had no luck, because father is unlucky, so I thought if I was lucky, it might stop
the whispering (Lawrence 8). Paul finds himself encumbered with the burden of
maintaining a family s happiness. As an adolescent hoping to please his mother Paul
must push himself past the limit of the
Stereotypes Of Men And Women In The Game Of Thrones
In today s society, men and women are looked at as equal, but it was not always
like that. HBO s famous TV show, The Game of Thrones, contradicts that. First of
all, it is just a TV show, which means it could have, and does have, some
exaggerated parts, but it gives a representation of what life was like for both males
and females in the medieval times. In the show, Game of Thrones, the producer
goes against the stereotype that women cannot hold positions of power as well as
men can. Game of Thrones is a TV show that is about several families that fight to

She gets the whole army of Dothraki by her side. After capturing the city of

Winter Frontal Lobe Poem Analysis
Within Winter, Frontal Lobe, Brecken Hancock shares grief, as well as
deteriorated mental health steaming from the authors mother. Sorrow and
depression due to the mental distance of a loved one can be shown through the
tone and mood used by the author. Hancock uses a guilty and desperate tone
corresponding with dark and dreary diction. This aspect results from the sadness
and hopelessness that Hancock projects to us about the devastating illness that is
slowly taking her mother s life. Hancock describes dark hair as blighted (1) to
represent the devastation, disruption, and infection felt by not only the hairs on top
of heads but rather the cells decaying in heartbroken bodies. Dark hairs belonging to

In 1910, California Progressive Party member Hiram Johnson ran for governor.
Restore absolute sovereignty to the people that we may yet live in a free republic
was his slogan. In years prior to the election Californians began to notice a trend in
their state government. Californians were not being represented properly by the
legislature (Kesler). This is a reflection of California at the time. The gold rush had
brought massive amounts of people into the state. This led to an unprecedented
opportunity for new business. The Southern Pacific Railroad among other big
business infiltrated politics and corruption followed for decades. Law makers passed
laws which benefited them. The Progressives sought to give the people greater say in
making and dismantling legislation. In doing so the Legislative branch lost power.
To accomplish their goal in 1911 they enacted the ballot measures in order for
citizens to bypass legislature approval and have a measure placed on the ballot. An
initiative is a proposal for a new law that allows any citizen or organization to gather
a state defined amount of citizen signatures to qualify. Another ballot measure
enacted by the Progressives is a popular eferendum. This allows citizens to create a
ballot measure to repeal a specific legislative act by gaining a predetermined number
of signatures. Voters ratified these amendments in a special election of October 10,
1911 (Initiative Reform Institute).
Since their enactment,
Literary Language
Literary Language Wheelwright describes literary language as being depth or
expressive language, whilst he sees instrumental language, or non literary
language, as being that which is the negative limit of expressive language (http:/
/www.sp.uconn.edu/~jbl00001/FINCHAP1.htm). Literary text is something
which has many layers of meaning and although, appearing on the surface as
narrative, has a deliberate ambiguity to it and is never straightforward. Scholars
call this multiple meaning of the literary language various terms such as
plurisignaiton , polysemy , or poly or multi valency. The metaphors and similes
and indirect layers of meaning point to the polysemy of the text. That polysemy is
a part of literary language is recognized by Hayles who stated that For someone
steeped in literary analysis, it is a given that multiple signification is a plus rather
than a minus, or to use metaphors more appropriate to literature, a story rather than
a scandal (How We Became Posthuman, 60). Literature, in other words, possesses
various levels or depth and it is this that primarily separates it from instrumental
language. Often this polysemious character is more evident in poems than in
narrative as depicted in Donne s poem Go catch a fallen star . Allusions to religion
appear thrice in this poem: the Devil s foot and pilgrimage as well as fallen angels .
It may be that Donne is creating a parallel between the religious search and between
the search for physical/
Essay about Michael Wigglesworth s Wrathful Poetry
Michael Wigglesworth s Wrathful Poetry
Michael Wigglesworth was born in England in 1631. He came over to America
with his family at the age of seven. He was raised in the town of New Haven,
Connecticut until he went to Harvard at sixteen. He graduated in 1651 but remained
a tutor for three years. He was called to the ministry and accepted a call to a church
in Malden, Massachusetts, in 1655 and remained in that town the rest of his life. He
had three wives and eight children.
Wigglesworth was a small and extremely frail man. Due to his sickness, he went to

his initial interest before the ministry. After this trip, he was a physician as well as a

The poem itself captures the Puritan Spirit of the day. It focuses on the last day of
judgement, but what makes it Puritan is the emphasis on hellfire and the fate of the
unbelievers. It can be called the Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God of poetry, but
Doom has a more positive side. The poem reassures the reader that the believers or
the elect have nothing to fear on the Day of Judgment more so than Sinners reassures
people.
Although positive pictures of the last day do occur in this poem, the majority of
the content is focused on the goats, or the dammed. (In the Gospel of Matthew
25:31 46, there is a parable about the last day. Jesus comes back to judge the world
and separates the sheep from the goats. The goats are put on His left side, and the
sheep on his right. The sheep are the saved, and the goats are the dammed.
Wigglesworth refers to the sheep and goats throughout this poem.) He starts the
poem out as the event being a surprise to the people on earth living their lives of sin.
Then the sinners try to hide but are unsuccessful, and all come before the Lord to be
judged. When Wigglesworth first introduces the sheep and the goats, he gives five
stanzas for the sheep (22 26) and eleven for the goats (27 37). This is symbolic for
the rest of the poem, where the emphasis is obviously on the goats. This was
common to Puritanism, where the element of driving fear into the people was
prevalent. This talk is even strong enough at times to make
Harry Potter s The Casual Vacancy
After the success of her popular Harry Potter series, J.K. Rowling has recently
branched out from writing children s literature. Her first adult novel, The Casual
Vacancy, explores more mature topics and is aimed at a new demographic than her
previous works. She challenges social issues with her dark themes and her
impeccable writing style captures the wide range of problems at the heart of a
small town. It becomes more apparent throughout the novel that each character is
connected in a web of misfortunes. Each individual has their own flaws and it
becomes more apparent that there are additional underlying issues at the center of
the pretty little town (Tait). J.K. Rowling s The Casual Vacancy, Krystal Weedon
is the troubled hero of the novel as she struggles to overcome difficulties in her life
after the death of her mentor, Barry Fairbrother. The author behind this
controversial narrative has become one of the world s most decorated authors due

History Assessment Task (Part B)
The Industrial Revolution was a period in history that lasted from the 18th to 19th
century, where many of our current day life changing inventions took place. Factories
became increasingly popular which housed huge machines with textiles dominating
the industry, as they were the first to start using modernised production methods. The
inventions were mainly all situated in England/Great Britain, which later on lead
them to dominate the global trade market. Although there were many pros, there
were even more cons, as this was period of which human labour become increasingly
popular to maintain and function the machinery. The new machines allowed mass
production for cheap and more employment opportunities. Before machines took
over, people would work from home, and this was called cottage industry . People
also worked on farms and in small workshops where they would use hand tools and
basic machines. However, once the Industrial Revolution began, people all had to

The Wizard Of Oz By F. Frank Baum Essay
The motion picture, The Wizard of Oz was released by the studio Metro Goldwyn
Mayer on August 12,1939. The movie was adapted from The Wonderful Wizard of
Oz writings of L. Frank Baum in 1900 (Maltin 2015). The imaginary children s
fable is recognized by the enduring musical score, the many idioms used: Lions and
tigers and bears, oh my! and Follow the yellow brick road are phrases recalled in
the movie (Wizard 1939). The fledgling Dorothy character and dog Toto traverse a
pathway in Kansas and in Munchkin land while eluding malicious barriers to the
discovery of Oz. The characters encountered on the journey epitomize the traits
needed to realize the goals sought: knowledge, emotion and courage. The movie
exhibits evil and ethical, greed and deceit and how dreams of the future can supply
the motivation to endure the horrors encountered. The original 1900 manuscript by
Baum envisioned the evolution of the Nazi party and the persecution of the Jews in
1933 and is visualized in the children s motion picture The Wizard of Oz.

Thesis Statement On The Panama Canal
Thesis
How much do you really know about the Panama Canal? It is the canal that runs
through the Isthmus of Panama and connects the two largest oceans on earth. Back in
the nineteenth century some engineers decided it was a good place to create that
canal. Congress wanted to strategically build a canal in central America but there was
debate on where. However the debate was settled in 1904 when Theodore Roosevelt
and the United States took over the construction of the Panama Canal from the
French. They then supported a rebellion in Panama to separate from Colombia
gaining the rights to build the canal, which is one of the greatest engineering projects
ever, and the most important canal in the western world.
Background The Panama Canal was first conceived of in the 16th century by the
Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, after it was discovered that there was no natural
water route through the Americas (History.com). The Romans eventually decided
that it was impossible to build a canal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This project was doomed from the start because, first of all there wasn t enough
surveying done so Lesseps didn t realize that making a sea level canal was very
unwise. Second, there was very poor management. Many of the staff were not
hired with the project in mind, and didn t know anything about canal building.
Many of the spots along the canal had to get re dug, causing huge budget problems.
The tropical climate also contributed to the failure. They had to clear rainforest,
and pay more to their employees to get them to work in the hot, sticky climate.
They also had to worry about the rust and corroding of their equipment. The
diseases caused most of the deaths on the construction. Yellow fever and malaria
were the deadliest diseases. The population still believed that the diseases were
caused by bad air, so their efforts to stop the diseases were doomed from the
Dog Persuasive Essay
What would you do if your best friend was killed? One time an older woman who
lived in a retirement home with her dog named Charles was taking him out for a
morning walk around the home. Then suddenly a boy started to approach Charles but
the older woman had warned the boy that Charles might start to feel anxious and
attack him . As told that Charles may attack the boy still approached and then Charles
went rapidly and starting attacking the boy. Later the boy had multiple injuries and
had to be taken to the hospital and the boy s mom pressed charges against the older
woman then demanded that the dogbe put down. The older woman was heartbroken
because she didn t win the fight against the state and even though she had warned the

ВЁThe biggest increase in dog bites came from dogs that were owned but not on a
leashВЁ,(Victor, Daniel). Because many people think that their dogs won t run
off when they aren t on a leash, but when a dog senses something they will take off.
If you own a dog that is aggressive then to try and find a trainer or try to educate
yourself on how to control it and also if you have a dog that could potentially be
dangerous while taking it on a walk do not to take the leash off and to be extra
careful of the people around you. Because people do not realize that your dog could
potentially bite someone if it is roaming freely. ВЁA dog needs to see a constant
social structure and that is authoritativeВЁ, said Mr. Paquette. ВЁThat same family
may be democratic among itself . But nature dictates that a dog sees dominant
hierarchyВЁ,( Corman). Before people get a dog they need to know how to be
properly educated on how to train one.
Dogs can be very protective they can either be protecting themselves, pups, food,
toys, and even their owners.ВЁDogs do not think the way we think. They have no
conscience, and do not feel guilty about anything we judge as wrongВЁ,(Wilson).
Dogs have no control over what they do it s all about instinct and a person as an
owner has to be able to control that. People see dogs as pets not as vicious animals,
but if a dog is feeling threatened, then it will do the best to protect and
Curl Pattern Vs. Hair Texture
Knowing Your Hair Type: Curl Pattern Vs Hair Texture, What s the Difference? As a
natural hair enthusiast, or as I like to call myself, a Naturalista, I believe it is
important for all those who are considering making the transition, the big chop, or
who have transitioned (from relaxed to natural hair), or have made the big chop to
know the challenges you will face when it comes to making these, in many cases,
life altering decisions. I know this all sounds very dramatic, and for some it is. So,
for the sake of entertainment and, if it will keep you reading, then let s continue
with the drama. For those of you who have no clue on where to begin, let me say
this: The internet and blogosphere is saturated with naturalistas like myself who have
taken as much, if not more time to learn all there is to know about how to care for
our natural hair.
If you care enough to do the research yourself, you will find that the market for this
particular niche is very appealing to those who seek to make a profit. Of course it s
because many of them know ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The truth is, a black woman and a white woman both can have the same curl
pattern (e.g. a 3c pattern), but have completely different textures. Now, is this
starting to make a little more sense? When I think of textures, I think of how
something feels to the touch, to the taste, and even to the sight. Some textures are
smooth and silky, while other textures are rigid and rough. Then, there s this whole
thing on porosity. I won t go into detail about porosity, but just know that if you ve
relaxed or dyed your hair (and haven t chopped it off sounds so drastic, doesn t it?)
then more than likely the porosity of your hair is high. The porosity of your hair
determines how your hair may react to certain products because of its ability to
absorb or emit any kind of
Selective Breeding Vs. Natural Selection
Selective breeding has been used for many years to achieve the expression of desired
traits in animals and plants. Similar to natural selection, humans have developed
artificial selection where humans select the most desirable traits instead of the
environment, this is what s known as selective breeding. But in fact selective
breeding does not select for the fittest phenotype like in natural selectionit actually
selects for the most desirable phenotypes which may cause harm to the individual.
Natural selection selects against harmful alleles as they are disadvantageous to the
individual and possibly restricts its ability to survive till the age of sexual
reproduction thus not being able to pass on this harmful gene, whereas selective
breeding selects for harmful alleles if seen desirable.
Selective breeding involves breeding organisms based on their phenotypes so that
the desired traits are passed onto successive generations, these desired alleles then
increase (in frequency) in the gene pool. This has a large commercial benefit as
animal and crop products now contain higher quality meat, quantity of milk, quality
of wool, larger fruits etc.
The goal of selective breeding in animals is to either produce a pure breed (a breed
that will consistently produce offspring with the desired traits or to simply improve
the quality of the desired trait/phenotype (homozygous). This is achieved by
inbreeding (where two closely related individuals mate and produce offspring)
In selective
Prostitution of Minors
Prostitution of minors occurs all around the world. We do not notice because it
may not concern us, and it is difficult to act when something does not affect us in
any way. It affects you if you have children or nieces who are under age right now
selling themselves to help out their families who are in need of money. What
would you do right then to help them get out of that situation? That s what s going
on in Europe right now when you visit, is the same thing that is happening in
Mexico. There are many young girls selling themselves because they have to work
to support their family. I had a personal experience with this issue when I took a
trip down to Mexico with my cousins once. It was around 1:00 a.m, and we were
heading back to the borderline to cross back into the U.S. On our way there I saw
an empty building that was full of women and children standing outside. I told my
cousin to stop, and I got out of the car to ask a girl who looked to be around 9 or 10
years old, what she was doing there I will never forget her words, I came here to
work to help out with money because right now I m the only one who can . I told
my cousin to help the girl with some money she could go home for the day, so that
she did not have to do this at least for a day. Those words of hers have stuck with me
to this day. Seeing these children out there that have to resort to these acts to support
their family seems unfair because they are not the parents. The parents should be the

Introduction
What is change? Change is ironically one of the very few consistencies in life. Yet
we regard change as an aberration or a brief disruption, in a paradoxically ever so
changing world. It is not a mystery then that the sum of all stress can be attributed to
change, e.g., changes at work, changes in finances, changes in the family structure,
etc. In light of this, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A team on the other hand, is a mature group where cohesion facilitates
interdependence among members (Ivancevich, et al, p. 277), but more importantly,
Kotter and Cohen feel that teams develop a level of trust via the interdependence,
that is not present in the common group. This sense of trust is what makes just a
group of people a team (Cotter and Cohen, p. 50).
After the team is formed they can start developing the vision for the change strategy.
This is stage three where the goal or urgency is set into motion. Cotter and Cohen
outline four elements that may define this stage i.e., budgets, plans, strategies, and
vision. Cotter and Kohen report that in this part of the process the four elements are
delegated and not accomplished by just the team itself. Utilizing others in the change
process may be critical in not just for providing information used in the process, but
helping with creating the right process (Cotter and Kohen, p. 68).
Ivancevich, et al, although discuss teams in several other chapters, their perspectives
on the use of teams in the change process are not completely aligned with Kotter and
Cohen. From this point forth regarding organizational change efforts Ivancevich, et
al, emphasizes structural approaches, task and technological approaches, people
approaches, multifaceted approaches and appreciative inquiry as there steps to
change. The concepts, however, could be

almost anything. When she was young her mother taught her how to control fire
and work as a blacksmith. Ever since then she has been in the shop creating
weapons for all the demigods. When Ellowyn got older her mother started to

the bottom of the hill. Right when Ellowyn reached Pele all of a sudden there was
a starting of a thunderstorm. The rain was a strong as hail, the lighting was as loud
as all of the fire works on the Fourth of July. This storm came from Zues since he
was mad at Ellowyn and Pele. The thunderstorm was a way to find out who took
his lightning bolt. Zeus came from the sky and when he landed the ground shook
as if it was a hurricane. Zeus kidnapped Ellowyn and took her to the underground

Lineage-Based Perspective
With there being more than 50,000 species of vertebrates alone it is essential for
all biology majors to have a working knowledge of the tree of life. The two
perspectives for teaching zoology are the Linnean taxonomical and the Phylogenetic
clade based perspective. The Linnean taxonomical perspective is a rank based
hierarchy while the phylogenetic clade based perspective groups speciesby focusing a
common ancestor and its descendants. In regards to teaching zoology there is more
value in using the phylogenetic clade based perspective rather than the Linnean
perspective because it allows students to organize the details of biodiversitywith a
more rational system.
Phylogenetic taxonomy focuses on common ancestry and derived functional ... Show

For example; Coleoptera contains over three hundred thousand species while Primate
contains roughly four hundred species including the human (Ballen, Cissy J., and
Harry W. Greene).
This lack of criteria is what causes the exclusion of taxonomic acknowledgment of
major evolutionary innovations while inaccurately portraying history. It is also
mentioned in Greene s more recent journal that the Linnean method fails at
specifying clades based upon the origin of limbs in tetrapods and shelled egg
amniotes. While it also, obscures the fact that crocodilians are more closely related
to birds than they are to turtles, lizards, and snakes, which does not highlight many
dramatic similarities between earlier archosaurs (Ballen, Cissy J., and Harry W.
Greene). These two main concerns of omission and obscuration are why the
phylogenetic clade based system is a far more valuable and beneficial methodology
for teaching zoology.
As it was mentioned previously, the phylogenetic clade based perspective only
recognizes monophyletic taxa, which are those taxa derived from a common ancestor
not shared with any other group. There is another argument being made that
paraphyletic groups should not be included as units of study within a zoology course.
Paraphyletic and monophyletic units of study both have their benefits and drawbacks

William Edward Burghardt Du Bois Essay
William Edward Burghardt Du Bois, born in 1868, was a scholar, activist, and
philosopher, born into the era of Reconstruction and lynching. Though he
accomplished much in his life, Du Bois is largely known for helping found the
National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and writing
one of the most prominent works in American critical racetheory, The Souls of Black
Folk. Du Bois made it his life s work to contest racismthrough self assertion,
humanize black peopleacross the globe, and find a way to integrate black society
and white American society. Much of his rhetoric focused on double
consciousness and the veil, separate but closely related concepts that Du Bois used
to describe the experience of Americans, both black and white. While Du Bois
passed away a mere day before the March on Washington in 1963, his rhetoric
remains vital to anti racist philosophy; for today, Americans live in an age of
colorblind racism. It is a commonly held amongst white Americans belief that all
Americans are treated equally and fairly, often citing the civil rights movements of
the 1960 s in which the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the Civil Rights Act of 1968
came to be. However, as of 2016, 42% of black Americans are dissatisfied in
regards to how they are treated, while a mere 15% of white Americans are
dissatisfied with the treatment of black Americans.1 Much of Du Bois rhetoric
focused on education; more specifically, how to use the role of institutions,
Themes In A Lesson Before Dying
A Lesson Before Dying by Ernest J. Gaines tells the story of how Grant, an
educated black man in Bayonne, helps Jefferson, a black man who is going to be
sentenced to death by electrocution, become a man by his godmother s wish before
he dies so, he can die like a man. In the novel, Gaines introduces characters who
display a changeas the novelgoes on. Many themes are shown throughout the novel.
One theme in A Lesson Before Dying deals with how a certain character s growth
propels another character to change. Gaines displays this theme between Grant and
Jefferson. There are many examples in the novel that support this theme. One
example in A Lesson Before Dying that displays this theme is Grant s attitude and
feelings toward his hometown of Bayonne. In Chapter 4, Grant describes Bayonne to
the reader. He says that in Bayonne there was a Catholic church uptown for whites; a
Catholic church back of town colored (Gaines, 25). From the description of the
churches, it can be interpreted that Bayonne is a town mainly built on racism. One
prominent feature in the town that stands out is the slaughterhouse. Grant describes
it as a slaughterhouse, mostly for hogs (Gaines, 25) which foreshadows Jefferson s
death. Later on in the chapter, Grant is with Vivian, his girlfriend, and he tells her, I
need to go someplace where I can feel living (Gaines, 29). This quote shows that
Grant wants to leave Bayonne and run away from there. This may be because of the
racism and
The Rate Of African Americans
Participation was highest among Europeans with 60.3%, followed by Asians with
a rate of 51.3% and Maori with 42.0% (Ministry of Health, 2015). Females were less
likely to have a colonoscopy and below 1.5 times less likely to have a positive
iFOBT result than males (Ministry of Health, 2015). This variation was found for
each age group (Ministry of Health, 2015). Maori were slightly more likely to have
a positive iFOBT result than Europeans (Ministry of Health, 2015). Moreover,
females were about twice unlikely to have and adenoma, advanced adenoma, or
cancerdetected than males (Ministry of Health, 2015).
Maori aged 60 69 years were 1.5 times more likely to have an adenoma detected
than Europeans of the same age (Ministry of Health, 2015). Maori were almost 1.5
times more likely to have an advanced adenoma detected than Europeans (Ministry
of Health, 2015). Asians were over 1.5 times less likely to have an advanced
adenoma detected than Europeans (Ministry of Health, 2015). There was a
recommendation that Asians were less likely and Maori were more likely than
Europeans to have neoplasia detected, but this was not statistically significant
(Ministry of Health, 2015). Asians were less likely than Europeans to have either
advanced adenoma or colorectal cancer detected (Ministry of Health, 2015). The
Positive Predictive Values for adenoma and advanced adenoma was lower for
females than males (Ministry of Health, 2015). The PPV for adenoma was about 1.5
times less for Asians
The Importance Of In Health Service Organizations
The Importance of Dashboards in Health Service Organizations Introduction The
core of any successful health service organization s mission is to improve the
quality of patient care and satisfaction all the while maximizing profitability.
Health service s executives are responsible for initiating fiscal strategies, planning
for favorable outcomes, and executing their vision and measuring operational key
performance indicators (KPI s). KPI s indicate how well their organization is
achieving value through financial and clinical metrics that help drive vision and
mission. To do this well, health service leadership require a 360 degree perspective
of their organization s business performance to view and quickly understand where
their organization compares universally. The Business Intelligence dashboard is a
streamlined, easily accessible, and a more accurate and significant reporting
process. It presents the ability to gauge performances, understand the impact of
perpetually changing conditions; it assists in making quick and well informed
decisions for performance scenario planning, as well as what if analysis, at all
various levels of comprehensive and real time information. In short, the dashboards
provide a succinct and yet visually appealing snapshot of an organization s
performance, as a result, leadership create accountability and are better able to focus
on more value added activities for proactive guidance for employees to work
consistently together as a whole.

What s Going On by Marvin Gaye
Marvin Gaye, a sex music icon, was a symbol of the social and political issues during
his time. Though his music he represented young culture, racial injustice, peaceful
protest and his black identity. Produced with Motown Records, his album What s
Going On made it to the top ten on Rolling Stone s 500 Greatest Albums, (Dyson).
Motown Records is known for its crossover music and artists that sang about things
that would not create controversy in the political world, however their artists began
to address social issues following the release of Marvin Gaye s What s Going On.
Though Gaye s message was not direct until the release of this album, he
represented a rage against the black stereotype and political issues associated with
his black identity at a much larger scale being one of Motown Record s most
successful artist. At an early age, Marvin Gaye sang in Church Choir and was
influenced to explore salvation through his reverend father. He grew up on the
belief that salvation was through God and his later music reflects that same belief
through spreading love (Cross). Gaye s career revolves around the perceived view of
him as a sex symbol. With songs like Sexual Healing, and Let s Get It On, his image
had a clear appeal to a young

Essay About War

  • 1. Essay About War Crafting an essay on the theme of war is undoubtedly a challenging endeavor. The subject is multifaceted, with historical, political, social, and ethical dimensions that demand careful consideration. Delving into the complexities of war necessitates a deep understanding of its impact on individuals, societies, and the world at large. One of the primary challenges lies in navigating the emotional terrain associated with war. Addressing the human toll, the stories of loss, sacrifice, and resilience, requires a delicate balance between empathy and objectivity. Striking this balance is essential to provide a nuanced perspective that honors the gravity of the subject matter. Furthermore, the historical context of different wars adds another layer of complexity. Researching and contextualizing events, understanding the geopolitical dynamics, and analyzing the consequences of war on a global scale demand meticulous attention to detail. The essay must be well-informed and grounded in factual accuracy to present a comprehensive and insightful exploration of the topic. Addressing the ethical considerations surrounding war introduces another dimension of difficulty. Evaluating the justifiability of conflicts, the morality of certain actions, and the consequences of war crimes requires a thoughtful and nuanced approach. Balancing diverse perspectives and presenting a fair analysis while upholding a clear moral stance can be intellectually demanding. Moreover, crafting a compelling essay on war necessitates a critical examination of contemporary conflicts. Assessing ongoing geopolitical tensions, analyzing the role of media in shaping public perceptions, and exploring potential avenues for conflict resolution add a layer of real-time relevance to the discussion. In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic of war is a formidable task that demands intellectual rigor, empathy, and a nuanced understanding of historical, political, and ethical dimensions. It requires the ability to navigate emotional complexities, conduct in-depth research, and present a well-informed perspective that goes beyond surface-level analysis. For those seeking assistance with essays on a variety of topics, including but not limited to the one mentioned above, HelpWriting.net offers a platform where you can order professionally crafted essays tailored to your specific needs. Those who inspire to become a firefighter must devote their time and well being to those in crisis. The station does not just stay clean itself you will be assigned chores and duties you will have to follow. Being in physical shape is also a main part of being a firefighter. Now there is also types of fires firefighters need to know about. The first type of fire there is class A fire. A class A fire are the most ordinary and basic type of fire. They are ordinary combustible fires like wood, paper, cloth, trash, and plastics. Class B fires are caused by flammable liquids. Flammable liquids for example are things like gasoline, petroleum oil, and paint. Class B fires also include flammable gases. The gases that are in class B are things like propane and butane. Some people might mistake fires caused by cooking oils and grease as a class B but that is not true at all they are not considered in the category. Class C fires involve electrical equipment. Electrical equipment such as motors not just car motors, transformers, and appliances. If you remove the power from any of the things listed it will no longer be able to be consider as a class C fire it will get reclassified as a different group of fire class. A

  • 5. The Pros And Cons Of British Imperialism No one can ever deny the fact that the British Empire contributed to most of the world history. The British imperialism has impacted various aspects of the world, even until today; however, there is a constant debate on whether it yielded more of positives or negatives. For instance, Niall Ferguson in his book Empire: The Rise and Demise of the British World Order and the Lessons for Global Power argues for the positive values of the British imperialism. On the other hand, Fanon in Concerning Violence and Orwell in Shooting an Elephant offer a negative view on imperialism and colonialism. In the paper, the argument based on the comparison of the claims made in these three articles, states that the argument made by Ferguson is exaggerating... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The main argument of Fanon is that decolonization can successfully take place only through violence. The colonial world is divided into two habitats of two different species: the settlers and the colonized people. The settlers enjoy the privileges over the natives or the colonized people in strongly built and hygiene, organized zone, surrounded with the masses of food and goods. While, the natives stay in the town of ill fame, with the limited amount of resources. The natives, feeling envy and desire of possessions, think about overthrowing the settlers (Fanon, 1965, p.38 39). The inequality and conflict between the settlers and the natives are the result of the imperial rule more broadly, the consequence of the imperialism. Exploitation of the natives by the colonizers is a common norm of imperialism; yet, Ferguson tries to defend such negative consequence by presenting the benefits conferred by British law and administration and being non venal that its sins are generally sins of omission, not commission (Ferguson, 2002,

Wikipedia Vs Harvapedia Essay When one searches to find reliable information on the Internet, they must keep in mind; there are very few sources published on the web that can be trusted without looking into the background of that source itself. One of the most famous examples of this idea is the digital encyclopedia Wikipedia. Every student has been warned to be careful of what they read on this websiteand take as true because of the fact that everyone is able to make edits on the articles. Comparatively, a newer digital encyclopedia called Conservapedia claims to be the trustworthy version of Wikipedia. Even though there are specific deference s between the encyclopedias, they still share many of the same qualities. Looking at the web articles superficially, the encyclopedias are almost identical. Wikipedia, also known as the free encyclopedia, did provide more information about the polar bear and also provided an extensive list of references. Although that may seem to provide enough evidence to prove the article is trustworthy, what is taken for granted is the amount of editors of the article. It is concerning when considering the article a source because of the amount of authors of the article. Looking more closely to the sources of the article are also
  • 7. Western Themes In The Film Mad Max 2 The 1970 s and 1980 s was considered to be a golden period in Australian cinema, with many classic Australian films, such as Crocodile Dundee, being released during this era. One such film that helped develop Australia s reputation in the film industry on an international level, was the Mad Max trilogy, specifically Mad Max 2, released in 1981. Despite being a post apocalyptic film, Mad Max 2 reflects themes of an old Western movie, with Max, a former sheriff, mirroring a Western hero, with his car in place of a horse, driving throughout a barren wasteland (Ratto, 2014, pp.78). After rescuing a man having been attacked by a group of outlaws, knows as The Marauders, Max returns the injured man to his settlement and goes on to help the entire settlement escape from The Marauders. This resemblance to an old Western film, gave Mad Max 2 the ability to break into the international film market, which was at the time (and still today) dominated by American films, especially old Westerns. The success of the first and second Mad Max films also resulted in a boom in production of Australian films, resulting in more making it on an international market. This ... It covers many aspects of self disclosure including ethically what to look for in the motives of using self disclosure with a client. There are other aspects of self disclosure which include transference and countertransference which are issues which need to be attended to immediately for the therapist to remain objective and not react to a client. Therapists must be cautious in disclosing information and make sure it is relevant to treatment. Beneficence and nonmaleficence are important things to consider when self disclosing and the therapist must be educated, well trained, and have experience before considering self disclosure. Also included in this paper are different orientations in relation to self disclosure. Those orientations include Adlerian therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, feminist therapy, and relational therapy. Although these are only a few orientations,

You can t really tell what the time of day was but it looks like it was outside on a mountain or cliff. It is a vertical realistic piece. However, what about the beginning? What does the beginning look like? Who created the sky, the earth, the mountains and rivers, the plants, the animals, and the human beings? How was the world created? What happened to the creator? These questions have puzzled and are asked by every people. However, no one has yet found the answers, and I have heard people saying that the creation of life is as impossible as the natural creation of an airplane from a stack of waste. With the willingness of knowing the self, ancient people tried to create mythological stories ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The only difference is that in this Indian story, not even God(or an equivalent form) was there. Egyptians and Chinese imagined the same scene, the Nun and the chaotic egg with a giant (Egyptian, Lin 1). In contrast with the creation out of nothing, the indigenous Australian mythology tells us that the stars, the sky, the sun, the moon, and the ancestors of all lives were already present in the beginning, but they are sleeping under the crust of the earth in the water holes (Aborigine). Seneca people believed that humans were living in the heaven originally, and there were only ocean and ocean living lives on the earth (Creation). It is very interesting to recognize how important water is to lives. Every account of creation that I have read included water before anything else was present. Whatever was present in the beginning had managed to create all the rest, and the description of creators are of three categories, a single creator, multi creators, and no creator. In Genesis, God is the single creator, and so is Brahman of India. The difference is that the God is immortal, but Brahman is mortal (Genesis, Genesis Project). In Chinese mythology, Pan Gu was the creator of everything but men, who were created by Nu Wa, a goddess (Lin 1 5). Other examples of multi creators are in the mythology of Egypt and Seneca in which the children of the creator became

Darkness And Darkness In John Milton s Relation To Darkness Perhaps, within one line, Milton describes the nature of all emitted light; that it must, if we are to call it light, be considered in relation to darkness and that darkness must be considered in relation to light; that a thing cannot be without its opposite, since any one member of an antithesis cannot exist without a counter member, or an anti member; as a white horse cannot be compared to a black one without the black one being present; A cannot be compared to B unless B is present; by extension, an antithesis works by expressing two extremities of any one quality, the antithesis of white is black, since, if we were to evaluate colour, white suggests the prescience of white and the absence of black, and vice versa. But, to what degree is blackness said to exist in whiteness? Are they two separate qualities? Is one merely the absence of the other? Is so, the true nature of the antithesis is of one existent thing to a non existent thing. Suppose we are to compare lightness to darkness: if lightis said to exist, as an emission which illuminates darkness, then light can only be considered as something which illuminates darkness, and thus can only be considered in relation to darkness; likewise, if we are to call darkness that thing which covers light, it must be considered in relation to its opposite, which supposes that both exist; but, if we suppose that both exist, than darkness cannot be the absence of light but must rather be covering of it. We run into problems,

This led to an unprecedented opportunity for new business. The Southern Pacific Railroad among other big business infiltrated politics and corruption followed for decades. Law makers passed laws which benefited them. The Progressives sought to give the people greater say in making and dismantling legislation. In doing so the Legislative branch lost power. To accomplish their goal in 1911 they enacted the ballot measures in order for citizens to bypass legislature approval and have a measure placed on the ballot. An initiative is a proposal for a new law that allows any citizen or organization to gather a state defined amount of citizen signatures to qualify. Literary Language Literary Language Wheelwright describes literary language as being depth or expressive language, whilst he sees instrumental language, or non literary language, as being that which is the negative limit of expressive language (http:/ /www.sp.uconn.edu/~jbl00001/FINCHAP1.htm). Literary text is something which has many layers of meaning and although, appearing on the surface as narrative, has a deliberate ambiguity to it and is never straightforward. Scholars call this multiple meaning of the literary language various terms such as plurisignaiton , polysemy , or poly or multi valency. The metaphors and similes and indirect layers of meaning point to the polysemy of the text. That polysemy is a part of literary language is recognized by Hayles who stated that For someone steeped in literary analysis, it is a given that multiple signification is a plus rather than a minus, or to use metaphors more appropriate to literature, a story rather than a scandal (How We Became Posthuman, 60). Literature, in other words, possesses various levels or depth and it is this that primarily separates it from instrumental language. Often this polysemious character is more evident in poems than in narrative as depicted in Donne s poem Go catch a fallen star . Allusions to religion appear thrice in this poem: the Devil s foot and pilgrimage as well as fallen angels . It may be that Donne is creating a parallel between the religious search and between the search for physical/

It focuses on the last day of judgement, but what makes it Puritan is the emphasis on hellfire and the fate of the unbelievers. It can be called the Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God of poetry, but Doom has a more positive side. The poem reassures the reader that the believers or the elect have nothing to fear on the Day of Judgment more so than Sinners reassures people. Although positive pictures of the last day do occur in this poem, the majority of the content is focused on the goats, or the dammed. (In the Gospel of Matthew 25:31 46, there is a parable about the last day. Jesus comes back to judge the world and separates the sheep from the goats. The goats are put on His left side, and the sheep on his right. The sheep are the saved, and the goats are the dammed. Wigglesworth refers to the sheep and goats throughout this poem.) He starts the poem out as the event being a surprise to the people on earth living their lives of sin. Then the sinners try to hide but are unsuccessful, and all come before the Lord to be judged. When Wigglesworth first introduces the sheep and the goats, he gives five stanzas for the sheep (22 26) and eleven for the goats (27 37). • 38. The Wizard Of Oz By F. Frank Baum Essay The motion picture, The Wizard of Oz was released by the studio Metro Goldwyn Mayer on August 12,1939. The movie was adapted from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz writings of L. Frank Baum in 1900 (Maltin 2015). The imaginary children s fable is recognized by the enduring musical score, the many idioms used: Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! and Follow the yellow brick road are phrases recalled in the movie (Wizard 1939). The fledgling Dorothy character and dog Toto traverse a pathway in Kansas and in Munchkin land while eluding malicious barriers to the discovery of Oz. The characters encountered on the journey epitomize the traits needed to realize the goals sought: knowledge, emotion and courage. The movie exhibits evil and ethical, greed and deceit and how dreams of the future can supply the motivation to endure the horrors encountered. The original 1900 manuscript by Baum envisioned the evolution of the Nazi party and the persecution of the Jews in 1933 and is visualized in the children s motion picture The Wizard of Oz. The opening of the movie, a terrified Dorothy and Toto runs down the bumpy dirt pathway glancing over her shoulder three times she stoops to inform her pal She isn t coming yet, Toto (02:05). She fears the mean and evil powerful Almira Gulch, who has threatened the dog with its excursion into her yard. Safe at the farmhouse Dorothy explains to anyone that will listen that Miss Gulch is a threat; family and farm hands disregard her words. The scene
  • 39. Thesis Statement On The Panama Canal Thesis How much do you really know about the Panama Canal? It is the canal that runs through the Isthmus of Panama and connects the two largest oceans on earth. Back in the nineteenth century some engineers decided it was a good place to create that canal. Congress wanted to strategically build a canal in central America but there was debate on where. However the debate was settled in 1904 when Theodore Roosevelt and the United States took over the construction of the Panama Canal from the French. They then supported a rebellion in Panama to separate from Colombia gaining the rights to build the canal, which is one of the greatest engineering projects ever, and the most important canal in the western world. Background The Panama Canal was first conceived of in the 16th century by the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, after it was discovered that there was no natural water route through the Americas (History.com). The Romans eventually decided that it was impossible to build a canal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This project was doomed from the start because, first of all there wasn t enough surveying done so Lesseps didn t realize that making a sea level canal was very unwise. Second, there was very poor management. Many of the staff were not hired with the project in mind, and didn t know anything about canal building. Many of the spots along the canal had to get re dug, causing huge budget problems. The tropical climate also contributed to the failure. They had to clear rainforest, and pay more to their employees to get them to work in the hot, sticky climate. They also had to worry about the rust and corroding of their equipment. The diseases caused most of the deaths on the construction. Yellow fever and malaria were the deadliest diseases. The population still believed that the diseases were caused by bad air, so their efforts to stop the diseases were doomed from the

As a natural hair enthusiast, or as I like to call myself, a Naturalista, I believe it is important for all those who are considering making the transition, the big chop, or who have transitioned (from relaxed to natural hair), or have made the big chop to know the challenges you will face when it comes to making these, in many cases, life altering decisions. Then, there s this whole thing on porosity. I won t go into detail about porosity, but just know that if you ve relaxed or dyed your hair (and haven t chopped it off sounds so drastic, doesn t it?) then more than likely the porosity of your hair is high. The porosity of your hair determines how your hair may react to certain products because of its ability to absorb or emit any kind of
  • 42. Selective Breeding Vs. Natural Selection Selective breeding has been used for many years to achieve the expression of desired traits in animals and plants. Similar to natural selection, humans have developed artificial selection where humans select the most desirable traits instead of the environment, this is what s known as selective breeding. But in fact selective breeding does not select for the fittest phenotype like in natural selectionit actually selects for the most desirable phenotypes which may cause harm to the individual. Natural selection selects against harmful alleles as they are disadvantageous to the individual and possibly restricts its ability to survive till the age of sexual reproduction thus not being able to pass on this harmful gene, whereas selective breeding selects for harmful alleles if seen desirable. Selective breeding involves breeding organisms based on their phenotypes so that the desired traits are passed onto successive generations, these desired alleles then increase (in frequency) in the gene pool. This has a large commercial benefit as animal and crop products now contain higher quality meat, quantity of milk, quality of wool, larger fruits etc. The goal of selective breeding in animals is to either produce a pure breed (a breed that will consistently produce offspring with the desired traits or to simply improve the quality of the desired trait/phenotype (homozygous). This is achieved by inbreeding (where two closely related individuals mate and produce offspring) In selective

What would you do right then to help them get out of that situation? That s what s going on in Europe right now when you visit, is the same thing that is happening in Mexico. There are many young girls selling themselves because they have to work to support their family. I had a personal experience with this issue when I took a trip down to Mexico with my cousins once. It was around 1:00 a.m, and we were heading back to the borderline to cross back into the U.S. On our way there I saw an empty building that was full of women and children standing outside. I told my cousin to stop, and I got out of the car to ask a girl who looked to be around 9 or 10 years old, what she was doing there I will never forget her words, I came here to work to help out with money because right now I m the only one who can . I told my cousin to help the girl with some money she could go home for the day, so that she did not have to do this at least for a day. Those words of hers have stuck with me to this day. Seeing these children out there that have to resort to these acts to support their family seems unfair because they are not the parents. The parents should be the

Change is ironically one of the very few consistencies in life. Yet we regard change as an aberration or a brief disruption, in a paradoxically ever so changing world. A team on the other hand, is a mature group where cohesion facilitates interdependence among members (Ivancevich, et al, p. 277), but more importantly, Kotter and Cohen feel that teams develop a level of trust via the interdependence, that is not present in the common group. This sense of trust is what makes just a group of people a team (Cotter and Cohen, p. 50). After the team is formed they can start developing the vision for the change strategy. This is stage three where the goal or urgency is set into motion. Cotter and Cohen outline four elements that may define this stage i.e., budgets, plans, strategies, and vision. Cotter and Kohen report that in this part of the process the four elements are delegated and not accomplished by just the team itself. Utilizing others in the change process may be critical in not just for providing information used in the process, but helping with creating the right process (Cotter and Kohen, p. 68). Ivancevich, et al, although discuss teams in several other chapters, their perspectives on the use of teams in the change process are not completely aligned with Kotter and Cohen. From this point forth regarding organizational change efforts Ivancevich, et al, emphasizes structural approaches, task and technological approaches, people approaches, multifaceted approaches and appreciative inquiry as there steps to change. The Linnean taxonomical perspective is a rank based hierarchy while the phylogenetic clade based perspective groups speciesby focusing a common ancestor and its descendants. For example; Coleoptera contains over three hundred thousand species while Primate contains roughly four hundred species including the human (Ballen, Cissy J., and Harry W. Greene). This lack of criteria is what causes the exclusion of taxonomic acknowledgment of major evolutionary innovations while inaccurately portraying history. It is also mentioned in Greene s more recent journal that the Linnean method fails at specifying clades based upon the origin of limbs in tetrapods and shelled egg amniotes. While it also, obscures the fact that crocodilians are more closely related to birds than they are to turtles, lizards, and snakes, which does not highlight many dramatic similarities between earlier archosaurs (Ballen, Cissy J., and Harry W. Greene). These two main concerns of omission and obscuration are why the phylogenetic clade based system is a far more valuable and beneficial methodology for teaching zoology. As it was mentioned previously, the phylogenetic clade based perspective only recognizes monophyletic taxa, which are those taxa derived from a common ancestor not shared with any other group. There is another argument being made that paraphyletic groups should not be included as units of study within a zoology course. Paraphyletic and monophyletic units of study both have their benefits and drawbacks however I believe that

Though he accomplished much in his life, Du Bois is largely known for helping found the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) and writing one of the most prominent works in American critical racetheory, The Souls of Black Folk. Du Bois made it his life s work to contest racismthrough self assertion, humanize black peopleacross the globe, and find a way to integrate black society and white American society. Much of his rhetoric focused on double consciousness and the veil, separate but closely related concepts that Du Bois used to describe the experience of Americans, both black and white. While Du Bois passed away a mere day before the March on Washington in 1963, his rhetoric remains vital to anti racist philosophy; for today, Americans live in an age of colorblind racism. It is a commonly held amongst white Americans belief that all Americans are treated equally and fairly, often citing the civil rights movements of the 1960 s in which the Voting Rights Act of 1965 and the Civil Rights Act of 1968 came to be. However, as of 2016, 42% of black Americans are dissatisfied in regards to how they are treated, while a mere 15% of white Americans are dissatisfied with the treatment of black Americans.1 Much of Du Bois rhetoric focused on education; more specifically, how to use the role of institutions,

Gaines tells the story of how Grant, an educated black man in Bayonne, helps Jefferson, a black man who is going to be sentenced to death by electrocution, become a man by his godmother s wish before he dies so, he can die like a man. In the novel, Gaines introduces characters who display a changeas the novelgoes on. Many themes are shown throughout the novel. One theme in A Lesson Before Dying deals with how a certain character s growth propels another character to change. Gaines displays this theme between Grant and Jefferson. There are many examples in the novel that support this theme. One example in A Lesson Before Dying that displays this theme is Grant s attitude and feelings toward his hometown of Bayonne. In Chapter 4, Grant describes Bayonne to the reader. He says that in Bayonne there was a Catholic church uptown for whites; a Catholic church back of town colored (Gaines, 25). From the description of the churches, it can be interpreted that Bayonne is a town mainly built on racism. One prominent feature in the town that stands out is the slaughterhouse. Grant describes it as a slaughterhouse, mostly for hogs (Gaines, 25) which foreshadows Jefferson s death. Later on in the chapter, Grant is with Vivian, his girlfriend, and he tells her, I need to go someplace where I can feel living (Gaines, 29). This quote shows that Grant wants to leave Bayonne and run away from there. This may be because of the racism and
